- 0:28Speaker 1: eight three three seven eight seven one two nine, or
- 0:31Speaker 1: you can DM me at Billy on the radio and
- 0:33Speaker 1: you have one. What's up?
- 0:35Speaker 2: So? Uh, I used to gamble for a living, cars, dice,
- 0:39Speaker 2: a gamble and sports, anything that would make my poll race.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Uh and I lost everything from my house, my car,
- 0:47Speaker 2: my wife.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Everything from gambling. Yeah geez okay.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yeah, So I love Vegas. Uh I came back here
- 0:55Speaker 2: in Dallas, and uh I have been totally humbled. I mean,
- 1:00Speaker 2: I work in a kitchen now at this fancy hotel,
- 1:03Speaker 2: I mean the kind of place I would have stayed,
- 1:05Speaker 2: and now I'm the help.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Really, so you work in the kitchen at a hotel,
- 1:10Speaker 1: obviously you don't have to say which one, but you
- 1:11Speaker 1: work at a kitchen at a hotel now, and like, okay,
- 1:15Speaker 1: so completely different lifestyle, which is, hey, you gotta do
- 1:19Speaker 1: what you gotta do. Nothing wrong with that, but anyway,
- 1:21Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I'm.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Doing what I gotta do, which is barely getting by.
- 1:25Speaker 2: By the way, I rent a room from some weirdo dude.
- 1:29Speaker 2: He creeps me out, but you know, it's cheap and
- 1:32Speaker 2: I barely make enough to survive. So my secret here
- 1:36Speaker 2: is every night, after everyone leaves, I clean the kitchen.
- 1:40Speaker 2: The rules say all the leftover food goes in the trash,
- 1:44Speaker 2: but I can't stand to see it wasted, so I
- 1:48Speaker 2: fill two garbage bags, one real trash one mind. I
- 1:53Speaker 2: take my back home, eat it up, and eat like
- 1:56Speaker 2: I used to.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Oh so you okay, so you take a bag full
- 2:01Speaker 1: of food home that you're supposed to be thrown away, Yeah, leftover.
- 2:06Speaker 2: From that night.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I mean, why would you throw it away though they
- 2:10Speaker 1: do though some of those big stores, they just chuck it,
- 2:14Speaker 1: make you throw it away.
- 2:15Speaker 2: We would care if you took it, though.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I don't know there's policies in some places, because we've
- 2:19Speaker 1: had a guy like this call before and he's like,
- 2:21Speaker 1: I hate throwing away all the food, but they make
- 2:22Speaker 1: me throw it away, and we make you we can't
- 2:24Speaker 1: take it home and all this stuff. So yeah, I
- 2:26Speaker 1: don't know. It's so. I mean, it's right, it shouldn't
- 2:29Speaker 1: be a problem, right, But also it's a pride thing too.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I'm sure you don't want people to know you're taking
- 2:34Speaker 1: a bunch of food home because.
- 2:35Speaker 2: You Yeah, nobody knows that. I mean, I don't know
- 2:38Speaker 2: if it would be getting me in trouble or anything,
- 2:40Speaker 2: but either way, I don't want anyone knowing for a
- 2:42Speaker 2: lot of reasons. You know, the chef just thinks I'm quiet,
- 2:46Speaker 2: but night guards think I'm tired. I guess nobody guesses
- 2:50Speaker 2: that the man willing the trash off back is stealing
- 2:51Speaker 2: his dinners from the dumpster.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Jeez. So yeah, well, I don't know if you should
- 3:00Speaker 1: be feel shame about it. I've heard of people doing that,
- 3:03Speaker 1: I mean, not this specific thing. But I've heard of
- 3:06Speaker 1: people taking things to the dumpster and then leaving it
- 3:09Speaker 1: out there and then going back and getting it later on,
- 3:12Speaker 1: So that that's what you do with your food.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Yeah, hopefully that's.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Wow. It seems like this should be totally fine. Wouldn't
- 3:21Speaker 1: everyone who works in a kitchen want to like take
- 3:24Speaker 1: the food and use it like they don't? I don't
- 3:27Speaker 1: think a lot of people do. As a matter of fact,
- 3:29Speaker 1: we were just talking about this because my son was like, Dad,
- 3:31Speaker 1: it was like, this is a few nights ago, over
- 3:33Speaker 1: the weekend, He's like, Dad, can I go to Dunkin Donuts?
- 3:35Speaker 1: And it was like at night and I go, no,
- 3:37Speaker 1: Why he goes because I heard at the end of
- 3:39Speaker 1: the night they throw away all the donuts and they'll
- 3:41Speaker 1: just give them to you. Yeah, And I was like, oh,
- 3:44Speaker 1: I don't know if that's true or not. I don't
- 3:46Speaker 1: know if they but then it seems like there's a
- 3:47Speaker 1: liability if you just give them away. I don't know,
- 3:51Speaker 1: so I don't listen. Good for you, first of all,
- 3:55Speaker 1: for getting your life back together. I don't know. Obviously
- 3:57Speaker 1: you've stopped gambling. That's a huge pomplishment. You should be
- 4:01Speaker 1: very proud of because hey, who cares where you're at now?
- 4:04Speaker 1: It's a matter off you're you're still here and you're
- 4:06Speaker 1: surviving that that there's something be said about that.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Thank you. I do appreciate that, you.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Know what I mean? Like I mean, my grandma was
- 4:14Speaker 1: a big gambler. I know, I laugh sometimes I laugh
- 4:16Speaker 1: about it and I say that, you know, I think
- 4:18Speaker 1: I'm one step away from being there. But my grandma
- 4:21Speaker 1: took her entire life savings and blew it in Vegas.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Left for a month, left, left a family, took everything
- 4:27Speaker 1: she had in Vegas and blew her entire life savings
- 4:30Speaker 1: in Vegas.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Y'all didn't even hear from her.
- 4:32Speaker 1: No, she was gone, Wow at those penny slots with
- 4:35Speaker 1: the Virginia Slims and an oxygen tank, just doing it
- 4:40Speaker 1: big and never hit a jackpot, missed all my little
- 4:44Speaker 1: league games. Oh Grammy was gone. Then she came back
- 4:49Speaker 1: broke and we had she lived with us. So wow, yep.
- 4:52Speaker 1: But hey, so good for you for getting it together.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Good luck.
- 4:56Speaker 1: If there's anything we can do, I know sometimes we'll
- 4:58Speaker 1: have some gift cards around and stuff. Maybe we can
- 5:01Speaker 1: give you some and help you out in some way
- 5:03Speaker 1: all right, thank you.
- 5:04Speaker 2: I appreciate that.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Yeah, stay right there, we'll see if we have any okay,
- 5:07Speaker 1: all right, trying to help him out we can, you know,
- 5:10Speaker 1: but hey, getting back on your feet from an addiction,
- 5:13Speaker 1: any addiction, is something you should be proud of. It
- 5:17Speaker 1: really is. It's not easy to
