- 1:17Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites, the podcast from the Volume Podcast Network.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I am Chad Millman, in chief Content officer of the
- 1:25Speaker 1: Action Network. I am joined as I am every single
- 1:29Speaker 1: podcast by my bff, my companion, my compadre, professional better
- 1:34Speaker 1: world traveler, broadcasting from the balcony of his luxury hotel
- 1:41Speaker 1: in Mexico for god knows how many weeks in a row. Now,
- 1:45Speaker 1: Simon Hunter, it's going to be back. I actually want
- 1:49Speaker 1: the Belize for a couple of days, so I'm finally
- 1:52Speaker 1: back at my hotel where I can trust the WiFi.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I tried to do a live show from the beach,
- 1:57Speaker 1: failed miserably. There was a mariachi band. Chad was kind
- 2:00Speaker 1: of mad at me for the first time in three years.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Now I'm back up on the balcony with even prettier view.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I can't believe you went to Belieze. What when did
- 2:10Speaker 1: that happen? Because last time we spoke last week, you
- 2:14Speaker 1: had been to Cuba. There was someone who was in Cuba,
- 2:18Speaker 1: Cuban native, very big fan of Chad Melman gone to
- 2:22Speaker 1: the effort to get black market books written by Chad Melman.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Then you were in Mexico. Now you went to Belieze
- 2:30Speaker 1: and you've come back. I've never been to Believes. I've
- 2:33Speaker 1: heard of the word believes, but I didn't know what
- 2:36Speaker 1: the hell of it meant or where it was. So
- 2:38Speaker 1: apparently it's right below the uptan of Mexico. I got
- 2:41Speaker 1: another pro here who is local, just like crazy in
- 2:47Speaker 1: the sense that he gambles, like you know, like how
- 2:49Speaker 1: stuck he is, how he can gamble on anything. Yeah,
- 2:52Speaker 1: stucky sort of the one name Phenomenon, who is the
- 2:57Speaker 1: heart and soul of the Action Network. Yes, so again,
- 3:01Speaker 1: the minute I meet this guy, he comes to my hotel,
- 3:04Speaker 1: we're walking up to the pool. He goes, I bet
- 3:05Speaker 1: you I can get the closer to the number how
- 3:07Speaker 1: many people in this pool? I got which one to bet?
- 3:09Speaker 1: He goes a thousand pastos, like all right, and of
- 3:12Speaker 1: course I nailed it. I went with eleven because I've
- 3:14Speaker 1: been here so I know the pool was cold, so
- 3:16Speaker 1: most people just go in the ocean. Because he went
- 3:18Speaker 1: with like thirty and there was like ten people in there.
- 3:20Speaker 1: So there you go. Inside information. But yeah. He basically
- 3:23Speaker 1: he's from Plia, which right across like I took a
- 3:26Speaker 1: ferry over to his place, and he's exactly what you
- 3:29Speaker 1: would think of a millionaire would be in Mexico. He's
- 3:31Speaker 1: got like a villa on the coast, made there seven
- 3:35Speaker 1: right on the beach, beautiful cars. We took one of
- 3:38Speaker 1: his cars on the Belize took one second getting into
- 3:42Speaker 1: Belize and then five hours getting back into Mexico because
- 3:45Speaker 1: they were like, let's go up with this gringo and
- 3:47Speaker 1: this Mexicano guy in a nice like lambeau driving through
- 3:50Speaker 1: Belize to Mexico. But I can't get over how beautiful
- 3:53Speaker 1: this whole area is, Like it's paradise. It's been a
- 3:55Speaker 1: crazy trip. But because I'm like missing America a little bit,
- 3:58Speaker 1: so I don't know how much learm keep going because
- 4:00Speaker 1: I missed Chick fil A. There's a lot to unpack here. Yeah,
- 4:04Speaker 1: I mean, I will tell I mean, if we want
- 4:05Speaker 1: a crazy story, I went on a little trip to
- 4:07Speaker 1: go swim with whale sharks. One of the craziest things
- 4:09Speaker 1: I ever experienced because they're so big, but they move
- 4:12Speaker 1: like like a floating ghost. I'm gonna describe it and
- 4:15Speaker 1: they're like you can touch them and swim with them,
- 4:17Speaker 1: and it was like, that was broy the coolest part
- 4:19Speaker 1: of this trip. How do mel in Mexico people get
- 4:21Speaker 1: on down here? It's pretty sweet. So I feel like
- 4:24Speaker 1: this is a great transition into what we want this
- 4:27Speaker 1: podcast to be about and what we want the Thursday
- 4:31Speaker 1: podcast to be about, because we get so many questions
- 4:37Speaker 1: sent to us by listeners and we love it. We
- 4:40Speaker 1: as we say feedback as a gift. We love the
- 4:42Speaker 1: reviews and the ratings in Spotify and Apple, but we
- 4:45Speaker 1: also love interacting with our listeners on Twitter and a
- 4:50Speaker 1: lot of times here in the football seas it's just
- 4:52Speaker 1: hard to answer all the questions, especially questions that are
- 4:55Speaker 1: really detailed, and often questions lead to more questions, and
- 4:59Speaker 1: it's hard to sort of unpack all of that in
- 5:01Speaker 1: a sort of d M exchange on Twitter. So what
- 5:05Speaker 1: we wanted to do for the next two episodes is
- 5:09Speaker 1: answer as many of the sort of more frequent questions
- 5:13Speaker 1: as we can that we would get throughout football season
- 5:16Speaker 1: and that we've been getting since football season ended. Matt Mitchell,
- 5:19Speaker 1: producer Extraordinaire, put out an all call for people to
- 5:23Speaker 1: send us questions. We are super excited to go through
- 5:27Speaker 1: the list of everything you've discussed, everything you've asked, to
- 5:30Speaker 1: be able to answer as many of those as possible.
- 5:32Speaker 1: In this special two parter, we're going to cover everything
- 5:35Speaker 1: from Simon's background, how a guy goes from doing what
- 5:39Speaker 1: he was doing to now vacationing for months on end
- 5:44Speaker 1: in Cosmel, Mexico, to the books we recommend, how to
- 5:49Speaker 1: create smart habits, how to avoid bad habits, some great
- 5:52Speaker 1: stories about the biggest bets we've ever had, the worst
- 5:55Speaker 1: beats we've ever had, moments that have turned our stomach.
- 5:58Speaker 1: All of that we're gonna talk about it in the
- 6:00Speaker 1: next two episodes. So first off, Simon, it's funny because
- 6:06Speaker 1: you know you've been a part of the Action Network
- 6:08Speaker 1: lore for this is the third season, and look, the
- 6:14Speaker 1: audience for our podcast has doubled from what it was
- 6:18Speaker 1: in September through what ended in January, and that was
- 6:22Speaker 1: eight x what it was when we weren't part of
- 6:25Speaker 1: the volume. So a lot of people don't know the
- 6:29Speaker 1: history here. They don't know the sort of creation story
- 6:33Speaker 1: of Simon Hunter. How the fund did you end up
- 6:35Speaker 1: on this podcast? We talked a lot about you being
- 6:40Speaker 1: from England, explain that and when you when you came
- 6:43Speaker 1: to the US. Well, I was actually born in the
- 6:45Speaker 1: Port of Miami, so my dad is American, my mom
- 6:48Speaker 1: is from England, and basically my dad met my mom
- 6:51Speaker 1: or anning on when he was playing rugby. So I
- 6:53Speaker 1: think it was one of those deals where like we
- 6:56Speaker 1: just didn't have money. I don't really know the whole deal,
- 6:58Speaker 1: or maybe my mom just missed England, but we're just
- 6:59Speaker 1: back a fourth a lot. We moved to, like up
- 7:02Speaker 1: to New Jersey like mid nineties, and my home where
- 7:06Speaker 1: my family lives, like where I'm from in England's Burnley,
- 7:09Speaker 1: which is like it's like forty five minutes north of Manchester,
- 7:12Speaker 1: which any British person would know, so it's it's north.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Burnley is as blue collar as you can get. It's
- 7:18Speaker 1: absolutely miserable weather, but it's like the best people. It's
- 7:21Speaker 1: very funny, hard working and if you're an American, like
- 7:24Speaker 1: if you talk with an American accent, you might as
- 7:26Speaker 1: well be Brad Pitt in Burnley because everyone there, once
- 7:29Speaker 1: they realize you're not Australian, they realize you're American, they
- 7:32Speaker 1: go crazy because no American would ever go to Burnley.
- 7:35Speaker 1: So our biggest claim to fame is we're in the
- 7:37Speaker 1: Premier League. Like we were, we made it up to
- 7:39Speaker 1: the top level. So but where I'm from on the
- 7:42Speaker 1: map because no, no American unless they watch, you know,
- 7:45Speaker 1: the Premier League. No it is Burnley. It's not a
- 7:46Speaker 1: name people know. So we moved here before nine eleven.
- 7:50Speaker 1: I knew American football. I didn't really get it until
- 7:52Speaker 1: I played it. I do see it as an advantage,
- 7:54Speaker 1: Like I know it doesn't matter if you play a sport,
- 7:56Speaker 1: but learning about how much of sport mentally football is.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I don't think people understand enough. Everyone's really good athletes,
- 8:04Speaker 1: Like every single person on the field are the best
- 8:06Speaker 1: athletes in the world. It's the A three, the guy
- 8:09Speaker 1: who's the smartest football player ever. That's the difference. I
- 8:13Speaker 1: played until end of high school and I went to
- 8:17Speaker 1: college and I basically got a summer job where I
- 8:19Speaker 1: was supposed to be putting volleyball nuts in and you know,
- 8:21Speaker 1: I was trying to drink like any kid would that's
- 8:24Speaker 1: under twenty one. And a girl told me her family
- 8:26Speaker 1: was having a party down the beach, so I go there.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I meet this guy. He's talking to me about some
- 8:31Speaker 1: show called Shore. Party gives me like an address. I
- 8:34Speaker 1: go there the next morning. It was this old rink
- 8:36Speaker 1: key hotel motel in Seaside Park. I get in there
- 8:40Speaker 1: and there's like camera equipment and stuff flying back and forth,
- 8:43Speaker 1: and I thought it was like a porno set. I
- 8:44Speaker 1: was like, what the hell have I signed up for?
- 8:48Speaker 1: I still up this form and this woman said, telling
- 8:50Speaker 1: me what I'm doing again, I'm nineteen at this point.
- 8:52Speaker 1: It turned out that was the first season of Jersey Shore.
- 8:55Speaker 1: So yeah, that show might have had at the employees.
- 8:59Speaker 1: And then MTV bought the rights and I'll never forget that.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I was back at school. I told this girl about it.
- 9:06Speaker 1: She was a sorority. See. I told her on Monday morning,
- 9:09Speaker 1: like just casually told her the show was gonna air
- 9:12Speaker 1: on Tuesday on MTV. Her sorority. She said, they could
- 9:15Speaker 1: not stop talking about that show. So that was like,
- 9:18Speaker 1: again you meet the right person, you capause the situation.
- 9:20Speaker 1: And then I got an email and I was like, hey,
- 9:22Speaker 1: you want to come to Miami for the next season.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I was like, I'm about it. So again the production
- 9:26Speaker 1: companies called four nine five Production. That was like a
- 9:28Speaker 1: crazy thing. Where it was like, you know, I was
- 9:31Speaker 1: nineteen and I was gonna be going to Miami to
- 9:33Speaker 1: do a TV show. So I basically did that for
- 9:35Speaker 1: a couple of years, and then Polid got a spinoff show.
- 9:38Speaker 1: He's a character from the show that was in Las Vegas.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Go out to Las Vegas. Hold on, let me cut
- 9:43Speaker 1: you off for a second. You came up from college,
- 9:45Speaker 1: dropped no, no, dropped up to do the show, go
- 9:49Speaker 1: to Miami. But I remember thinking I can come back
- 9:51Speaker 1: and finish this, like whenever it is, like, I might
- 9:54Speaker 1: as well go check this out see if I like it.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Which it's funny looking back, I hated it because it's
- 9:59Speaker 1: reality TVs. Twelve hours a day, seven days a week.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I mean, usually get one day off, but it's like
- 10:04Speaker 1: literally do a twelve and a half hour shift and
- 10:06Speaker 1: the next group comes in and they do a twelve hours.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I mean, it's reality TV. It's seven So being young,
- 10:12Speaker 1: I just wanted to have fun. I mean I just
- 10:14Speaker 1: remember like not feeling like cool as ship but like, yeah,
- 10:17Speaker 1: I work on that show, kind of feel like anyone
- 10:19Speaker 1: would like. I was just really proud and like it
- 10:21Speaker 1: was a good feeling. Now Flashboard when I'm in Vegas.
- 10:24Speaker 1: I was burned out. I was sick of TV. I
- 10:27Speaker 1: was sick of the hours. I had a bunch of money,
- 10:29Speaker 1: but I wasn't doing anything with it because I was
- 10:30Speaker 1: just working all the time and all my friends were
- 10:33Speaker 1: graduating college at this point, you know, social media is
- 10:36Speaker 1: everyone's like, You're like, what have I done? Like I
- 10:38Speaker 1: should have just been partying and having fun with like
- 10:41Speaker 1: people in my age. Instead I'm working with like a
- 10:43Speaker 1: bunch of ex convicts and like crazy people and the
- 10:45Speaker 1: reality TV world. But at that point, I had worked
- 10:48Speaker 1: my wa up, so I was feeling pretty good. And
- 10:49Speaker 1: I've met a man named Robert who everyone calls Big Bob.
- 10:53Speaker 1: I mean Chad my media mentor Bob is my sports
- 10:56Speaker 1: family mentor. When I met him, I'll never forget to
- 10:59Speaker 1: where sitting at this crow. It was just really fun
- 11:01Speaker 1: when you brought up the sports bet and he goes,
- 11:02Speaker 1: you do it, and I go, yeah, but I lose.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Whenever I win, I lose eventually, Like even if I
- 11:07Speaker 1: had want two bucks on I bet, I'm losing it
- 11:09Speaker 1: the next day. Um, because I've been betting probably since
- 11:12Speaker 1: like I was fifteen sixteen, with like you know, illegal
- 11:15Speaker 1: sports books in Jersey, like whatever you're doing books that
- 11:18Speaker 1: with people that you have to give your drivers like
- 11:19Speaker 1: before you can make a bet. So it's definitely a
- 11:21Speaker 1: little scary as like a young kid doing that stuff.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Like when I met him, it took probably another month
- 11:27Speaker 1: of me getting to know him for him to really
- 11:29Speaker 1: like I want to bring me in and kind of
- 11:30Speaker 1: bring me into the world of sports betting, like to
- 11:32Speaker 1: be our runner. And he basically showed me just how
- 11:35Speaker 1: to build a model. And his was different, I'll tell
- 11:38Speaker 1: you that much. Where it's like his is algebra. I
- 11:42Speaker 1: do calculus for my not like it's just like his
- 11:44Speaker 1: was very basic. He basically goes off of a lot
- 11:47Speaker 1: of word of mouth and he's just an old school guy,
- 11:49Speaker 1: like he does college football. It's just very different. I
- 11:52Speaker 1: was never into college football. I was with the NFL,
- 11:54Speaker 1: and he asked me about what's what I want to do,
- 11:56Speaker 1: and I said NFL. So he hit me with a
- 11:59Speaker 1: bunch of a little weird test like when I always
- 12:01Speaker 1: tell people, which is like to me, it was just
- 12:03Speaker 1: a very smart test by him because at this point
- 12:05Speaker 1: I was like twenty three and a half, two and
- 12:08Speaker 1: a half, Like, I was just very like young and dumb,
- 12:12Speaker 1: and he sent me out with his girl to try
- 12:15Speaker 1: to get her to sleep with me, to see my loyalty,
- 12:17Speaker 1: like see how loyal I was. And this was like
- 12:20Speaker 1: early days. I probably been running for him for like
- 12:22Speaker 1: a month. I'm super loyal, and I'm also like, this
- 12:26Speaker 1: is like a six year old man's girlfriend. I was
- 12:28Speaker 1: like in my twenties and like, I'm not into this late.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Like she was good looking too, but it was just
- 12:31Speaker 1: a weird, weird thing for me. So basically, once I
- 12:34Speaker 1: passed that, he kind of really stepped it up and
- 12:37Speaker 1: like he started giving me big bets, like big money,
- 12:40Speaker 1: and that's like that's when I started making money because again,
- 12:43Speaker 1: like every bed I would make. That's why I try
- 12:44Speaker 1: to tell people like and we'll talk about it later.
- 12:46Speaker 1: People want to get into this life. I've had zero
- 12:48Speaker 1: dollars in my bank account. I don't even know man
- 12:51Speaker 1: fifteen sixteen times, and I'm talking like swings of a
- 12:54Speaker 1: hundred k, like going up a hundred k, losing it all.
- 12:57Speaker 1: If you want to get into this, you need to
- 12:58Speaker 1: be with a group or just support system. Because I
- 13:01Speaker 1: kept getting back by running like I'd run guys bets
- 13:04Speaker 1: they'd hit, they'd break me off the cut once I
- 13:06Speaker 1: get the bank, but I can start betting their bets
- 13:07Speaker 1: again to get my bankbolled back because they'll in a
- 13:09Speaker 1: model again. We'll talk about all this. It's the hardest part.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Like it took me years to make the model right
- 13:15Speaker 1: where it could hit like these big dogs, like we
- 13:17Speaker 1: talked about all the time, these money lines and really
- 13:19Speaker 1: show me when there's five, four or three points of
- 13:22Speaker 1: line value. Like once you get the model right, it's
- 13:26Speaker 1: I mean people saw it like we've we've had three seasons,
- 13:28Speaker 1: we haven't gone below and we've had really good runs
- 13:31Speaker 1: in the playoffs and and super Bowls, and it's like
- 13:33Speaker 1: that's what the model is all about. It's like you
- 13:35Speaker 1: just keep getting information. So like again super Bowl, why
- 13:37Speaker 1: it's so good at it? There's more information than the
- 13:39Speaker 1: time I have I can put into one game. It's
- 13:41Speaker 1: such an advantage. So I know it's a long wait
- 13:44Speaker 1: answer to it. It's a lot to unpack. So you're
- 13:47Speaker 1: in Vegas, you're rolling at a table, you meet Bob,
- 13:51Speaker 1: you start talking sports betting. Not really, it was more
- 13:54Speaker 1: like he was really into the whole TV thing because
- 13:57Speaker 1: he didn't get why the hell I hated it. He's like,
- 13:59Speaker 1: sounds cool a ship, Like you're young, you're traveling all around,
- 14:02Speaker 1: you're living for free. I just told him it's cool.
- 14:05Speaker 1: But after four, like three and a half years, it's like, fuck,
- 14:08Speaker 1: I just like I don't want to be doing this.
- 14:10Speaker 1: So that's that's that's when he brought up the whole
- 14:11Speaker 1: runner thing, and so you go to be a runner
- 14:13Speaker 1: for him. You are running for him having these wild swings.
- 14:19Speaker 1: How long did it take you to develop a model
- 14:24Speaker 1: that made you feel good about your numbers? And Bob
- 14:29Speaker 1: invested confidence in you that you knew what you were doing?
- 14:33Speaker 1: Is it better? Basically, there was this other pro It
- 14:35Speaker 1: was the NFL guy, and he pretty much been doing
- 14:37Speaker 1: it for fifteen years. So that was gonna be one
- 14:40Speaker 1: of those things where I was gonna be a runner
- 14:41Speaker 1: for Bob and this guy, and I'd eventually moved on
- 14:43Speaker 1: to a different syndicate because I just wanted to eventually
- 14:46Speaker 1: to run my own numbers and b a guy up
- 14:48Speaker 1: top and have people below me. So I got lucky
- 14:50Speaker 1: where this guy started selling picks, which is like a
- 14:52Speaker 1: big no no. And what I do, like, if you
- 14:55Speaker 1: have paying customers, you can't be selling picks to other
- 14:58Speaker 1: people and and just going underneath what your group has
- 15:01Speaker 1: set up for you just because you want to make
- 15:04Speaker 1: extra money on aside and do things like that. That's
- 15:06Speaker 1: why I like Jack. You tell your early days. I
- 15:07Speaker 1: don't even know if I could do this show. People
- 15:10Speaker 1: would be shocked at how much paperwork there are with
- 15:12Speaker 1: sports betting, but you pretty much signed your life with
- 15:15Speaker 1: non disclosures. I mean, it's a really tricky thing to
- 15:18Speaker 1: be because people just want to be anonymous. Pros just
- 15:20Speaker 1: want to be anonymous. That's the biggest thing. It's like
- 15:23Speaker 1: people don't get it because I don't want to dash
- 15:25Speaker 1: sports books here because we have sponsorships, and I mean
- 15:27Speaker 1: we both work for a media company and actually networked
- 15:30Speaker 1: at that stuff with sports books, but we're not friends.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I'm of professional sports better. They are sports books that
- 15:36Speaker 1: will leave it at that. So it is tricky you
- 15:39Speaker 1: answer the question, I would say it was the Carolina
- 15:41Speaker 1: Denver super Bowl. Keep peytmon, and I mean, people are
- 15:43Speaker 1: gonna remember you just had like eat a noodle eating
- 15:46Speaker 1: look at that arm. So at that point I was
- 15:49Speaker 1: I've been losing I'll be honest, and I kind of
- 15:51Speaker 1: had a really good run. The second half again, kept grinding,
- 15:54Speaker 1: kept tweaking the system. That's why I like people that
- 15:57Speaker 1: want to get into this. I'm living a good life.
- 15:59Speaker 1: This is a great view. They didn't see me putting
- 16:01Speaker 1: in a hundred hour weeks. So basically that carolinat Denver one,
- 16:05Speaker 1: I had a decent amount of money on it, Like
- 16:07Speaker 1: I finally got a six figure bank roll of my
- 16:10Speaker 1: own money. No one else has no loan out my
- 16:12Speaker 1: own money. Got a big hit with Bob like he
- 16:16Speaker 1: was about it. And the guy who was giving out
- 16:17Speaker 1: the other the other pro that worked for our group,
- 16:19Speaker 1: he hit it to like no worries. But I think
- 16:22Speaker 1: Bob was more like, Okay, I can get rid of
- 16:24Speaker 1: this guy. But he just left that area and did
- 16:27Speaker 1: whatever in life. And I was able to step into
- 16:29Speaker 1: a job that those guys don't get until they're like forty.
- 16:32Speaker 1: I'm with an established syndicate. Like a lot of these
- 16:35Speaker 1: pros you would never believe because they're just the regular people.
- 16:38Speaker 1: But they've been doing this stuff for twenty thirty years.
- 16:40Speaker 1: And there's a couple of us young guys in here,
- 16:42Speaker 1: but a lot of them are runners for eight years.
- 16:44Speaker 1: And I was able to just in two and a half,
- 16:46Speaker 1: I mean two years, turned from a runner into an
- 16:50Speaker 1: actual betting pro. And then I would say I really
- 16:52Speaker 1: hit my stride that Eagles run, like I'm an egospan.
- 16:57Speaker 1: You could be like, oh, you're just betting with your heart,
- 16:58Speaker 1: but it was more just that I kept getting good
- 17:01Speaker 1: value in that line and I kept betting big on it.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Um again, We'll talk later about our biggest bet. That's
- 17:05Speaker 1: probably mine, but um, I would say that was really
- 17:10Speaker 1: when Bob was like, all right, you can go do
- 17:12Speaker 1: whatever the hell you want. Like he left, I moved
- 17:15Speaker 1: back from biggest back to Jersey and like what was
- 17:17Speaker 1: they legalized the chat you know the exact um number.
- 17:21Speaker 1: So it's again my life. I will talk about people
- 17:25Speaker 1: want to how to get into this. It's like you
- 17:26Speaker 1: have to really work hard. I know it sounds cool,
- 17:30Speaker 1: but like even this year, me Chad we went on
- 17:32Speaker 1: a little we went on a bat rock that was
- 17:34Speaker 1: mainly on me. I just was not like my head
- 17:36Speaker 1: just wasn't in it. I was putting in I mean
- 17:39Speaker 1: ninety hours easily in a week, phone calls, online, like
- 17:43Speaker 1: I was sleeping maybe four hours a night, three hours
- 17:46Speaker 1: a night, and then just work, just grinding, and eventually
- 17:49Speaker 1: it's snap and I got it right and I got
- 17:51Speaker 1: my numbers back to where they should be, and it
- 17:52Speaker 1: was like, that's that's why you This is why I
- 17:55Speaker 1: love this job. It's like it's very result oriented. Every
- 17:58Speaker 1: every weekend, I get my results back from my test
- 18:01Speaker 1: and see how I did. So it's again, I don't
- 18:03Speaker 1: want to bash people in the media, but it pisses
- 18:05Speaker 1: me off. And some people think they can roll out
- 18:06Speaker 1: of bed where they can put multiple sports where it's
- 18:09Speaker 1: like I work so f and hard on just one sport,
- 18:13Speaker 1: like grind my ass off to hit that number, and yeah,
- 18:17Speaker 1: this playoff run the super Bowl. I mean, this is
- 18:20Speaker 1: probably my most pet I've ever won in my lifetime.
- 18:22Speaker 1: But it's like it took a lot of years to
- 18:24Speaker 1: get my bank bolt to where it's at now. It's
- 18:26Speaker 1: just an interesting lifestuff for sure. Vandal Sports Book is

- 20:06Speaker 1: So you mentioned, um, the Eagles run that was the
- 20:11Speaker 1: playoffs of two thousand and eighteen was actually the year
- 20:13Speaker 1: that the month that actual network launched, And just to
- 20:17Speaker 1: close the circle so people can understand, I think it
- 20:20Speaker 1: was heading into the football season of two thousand nineteen,
- 20:27Speaker 1: you would DM me on Twitter and said, hey, you
- 20:30Speaker 1: want to connect and the professional sports. Better than trying
- 20:32Speaker 1: to engage like we do, try to DM and respond
- 20:36Speaker 1: to as many people as we possibly can. You reached
- 20:39Speaker 1: out to me, I responded, we spoke. It was easy
- 20:42Speaker 1: to tell in ten minutes. You just had a great character.
- 20:46Speaker 1: There was warmth you. I liked your accent, like you
- 20:49Speaker 1: just sounded like a dude wh would be good to
- 20:51Speaker 1: get stories from. Right, So you started coming on the
- 20:53Speaker 1: podcast for like ten minutes, and then all of a
- 20:55Speaker 1: sudden you're the coast of the podcast, in the superstar
- 20:58Speaker 1: of the show, and now nobody even wants to ask
- 20:59Speaker 1: me a question about my story career, which is so
- 21:02Speaker 1: much more impressive than yours. But no one gives a
- 21:04Speaker 1: fun So whatever. Chad Milman is proud of himself. You know,
- 21:09Speaker 1: it is on the new toy. Eventually, Chad, they build
- 21:11Speaker 1: you up to tear you down. So that's what I'm
- 21:13Speaker 1: excited for that future and everyone just eventually hates me.
- 21:16Speaker 1: When you're great, they hate. Yeah, you mentioned go back
- 21:19Speaker 1: to the Eagles, right, You mentioned the value on the
- 21:21Speaker 1: Eagles during that playoff runt. I remember when the Eagles
- 21:24Speaker 1: opened as five point dogs against the Patriots or whatever,
- 21:28Speaker 1: it was six and a half. All the money was
- 21:31Speaker 1: coming in on the Eagles. Every bookmaker was saying, wise,
- 21:35Speaker 1: guys love the Eagles. Wise guys, love the Eagles. We
- 21:37Speaker 1: all made a killing on it because everybody was betting
- 21:40Speaker 1: Eagles moneyline. Everybody's betting the Eagles dogs. When you think
- 21:44Speaker 1: about the largest this is another question from fans, the
- 21:48Speaker 1: largest sports betting wager you've ever made? What's yours? I'll
- 21:51Speaker 1: tell people mine. Yeah, it was that that Patriots Eagles
- 21:55Speaker 1: super Bowl. I mean, but again it's kind of skewed
- 21:57Speaker 1: because technically it was this this past super Bowl. But
- 21:59Speaker 1: it's different because my bank rolls so much bigger now,
- 22:02Speaker 1: like Chad's finally giving me a fair amount of money
- 22:06Speaker 1: for this job, and like from clients, and just years
- 22:10Speaker 1: and years and years of betting, like I have so
- 22:12Speaker 1: much money where that Eagles run, I had money, But
- 22:16Speaker 1: literally what I did was I took half my money.
- 22:19Speaker 1: So say I was up you know at the time,
- 22:21Speaker 1: a lot of money for me to semi five k,
- 22:23Speaker 1: which was the time, a ton of money for me.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I pretty much took half of it and I put
- 22:28Speaker 1: it on the Eagles, I think against Atlanta we were
- 22:31Speaker 1: you were three or three and a half. So I
- 22:33Speaker 1: put like sevent of it on that. And then on
- 22:36Speaker 1: money line it is literally took the exact same money
- 22:40Speaker 1: went to like three other casinos, Like left that casino
- 22:43Speaker 1: with the three of the casinos put it up, but
- 22:45Speaker 1: it did the exact same thing like on the Eagles
- 22:48Speaker 1: another So again I'm not taking any money back. I
- 22:51Speaker 1: just rolled it over. At this point, it hits obviously
- 22:54Speaker 1: against the Vikings at home another home Dog, and like
- 22:57Speaker 1: you just said, it when't at some books they opened
- 22:59Speaker 1: six and a half six. I bet as much as
- 23:01Speaker 1: I could, and then they brought it back down. I
- 23:04Speaker 1: believe four and a half. I bet as much as
- 23:05Speaker 1: I could. Again, so this is I did not bet
- 23:07Speaker 1: the money line for the Super Bowl. I only did
- 23:09Speaker 1: bet spread. Again. I went all in, like I knew
- 23:12Speaker 1: if I won this bet, I could move back to
- 23:13Speaker 1: New Jersey. That was my whole kind of mentality with it.
- 23:16Speaker 1: So that was the first time really too where like
- 23:19Speaker 1: clients had actually reached out to me, and people were
- 23:20Speaker 1: just fired up because it was like, you know, not
- 23:22Speaker 1: that I was some young punk kid, but like not
- 23:25Speaker 1: that they didn't trust me or like me. They were
- 23:26Speaker 1: just like, um, you know, looking at me, slaying it
- 23:29Speaker 1: out a little bit. They're like they kind of thought
- 23:32Speaker 1: Bob was just like too much of seeing himself and
- 23:34Speaker 1: me and giving me a job I did deserve at
- 23:35Speaker 1: the time, which I agree with them. I did not
- 23:38Speaker 1: deserve a job that was good at the time. But luckily,
- 23:41Speaker 1: again it's a result business, and I kept getting in
- 23:44Speaker 1: the right results and I drove a chat. I literally
- 23:46Speaker 1: have not, like I'm so do. I hate saying it
- 23:49Speaker 1: every time, but I have not lost Super Bowl since
- 23:51Speaker 1: I've become a professional. I've hit every Super Bowl spread
- 23:55Speaker 1: since I've been a professional. So it's like I obviously
- 23:59Speaker 1: I'm lucky, but it's like time, skill, work, ethics. So
- 24:02Speaker 1: for the Eagles one that run, it was amazing because
- 24:04Speaker 1: I was my favorite team, but it was also one
- 24:06Speaker 1: of those that Vegas they just kept hanging in shitty
- 24:09Speaker 1: lines like that Patriots. I made that Patriots minus three.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I thought the Patriots, we're gonna win, So I just
- 24:14Speaker 1: kept taking the spread number. You know, little did I
- 24:16Speaker 1: know the Eagles We're gonna win by eight points. So
- 24:19Speaker 1: but I would love to hear Chad the biggest bet. Well,
- 24:21Speaker 1: you didn't give me a number. You said it was
- 24:23Speaker 1: your biggest bet, but you didn't give me a number.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Give me a range high five figures, low, six figures. No, no,
- 24:30Speaker 1: I don't know when the dust settled like that. Yeah, dude,
- 24:35Speaker 1: that's what I'm saying. I kept rolling it over because
- 24:37Speaker 1: again I was in my late twenties at the time.
- 24:39Speaker 1: It was. It was a wild feeling, especially just knowing
- 24:42Speaker 1: I could come back to New Jersey and that was
- 24:43Speaker 1: that was probably the best feeling. Mine was not definitely
- 24:49Speaker 1: like very low four figures, a couple grand and it
- 24:54Speaker 1: wasn't even that strategic. It was totally by accident in
- 24:58Speaker 1: that it was also one of the first. It was
- 25:00Speaker 1: the first March that Action Network existed. We were in Vegas,
- 25:06Speaker 1: we were at the West Gate. They were just figuring
- 25:10Speaker 1: out how to do like in game or like betting
- 25:14Speaker 1: through their app, and so you had to like go
- 25:17Speaker 1: deposit cash at the cage and then once you had
- 25:20Speaker 1: done that, you could log into the app and it
- 25:22Speaker 1: was deposited into your account and you could bet in
- 25:24Speaker 1: the app. So I deposited money in the cage, and
- 25:27Speaker 1: then I wanted to bet on Loyola against Miami and
- 25:30Speaker 1: in the first round, and I put a few hundred
- 25:33Speaker 1: down and on Loyola. The bet didn't register. It just
- 25:38Speaker 1: kept spinning. So I logged out, did it again, it
- 25:41Speaker 1: kept spinning, logged out, did it again, It kept spinning.
- 25:44Speaker 1: So all of a sudden I had a substantial amount,
- 25:46Speaker 1: like you know, two or three grand on it. And
- 25:49Speaker 1: then there was a loudspeaker announcement if you're trying to
- 25:51Speaker 1: bet in the app and it spins but doesn't register,
- 25:54Speaker 1: don't worry, your bet has been ticketed. I'm like, well, funck,
- 25:57Speaker 1: now I'm invested three time three x what I want
- 26:00Speaker 1: it to be on that game. And the line was
- 26:02Speaker 1: too long at the cage to go avoid it, and
- 26:05Speaker 1: so I just let it ride. And if everybody remembers,
- 26:08Speaker 1: Miami and Loyal end up winning that game because Miami
- 26:11Speaker 1: like had a flukish play at the end and an
- 26:13Speaker 1: out of bounce play. So I ended up winning the
- 26:15Speaker 1: bat And like the rest of the weekend was gravy.
- 26:16Speaker 1: It was like I'm that umbc against Virginia sixteen and
- 26:22Speaker 1: a one, and uh it was. It was a beautiful,
- 26:26Speaker 1: beautiful weekend. Couldn't have had more fun again, not four
- 26:30Speaker 1: grand I will tell you my worst loss came this year, Simon,
- 26:35Speaker 1: this year, and it was a game you and I
- 26:38Speaker 1: believed in so hard. San Diego Kansas City, uh No,
- 26:46Speaker 1: Thursday Night, right. I remember being a stand alone just
- 26:49Speaker 1: because it made it that much worse. It was a
- 26:51Speaker 1: stand alone and we loved I'm not San Diego. We
- 26:55Speaker 1: loved l A Chargers, and we went all in on
- 27:00Speaker 1: him again on the spread. I loved him so much
- 27:03Speaker 1: that when they were down early at like two and
- 27:07Speaker 1: a half, when they were losing, when they were losing,
- 27:10Speaker 1: I was gonna say because I remember the line got
- 27:12Speaker 1: up to like seven at one point when they were
- 27:13Speaker 1: down to the Chiefs but yeah, that's because I started
- 27:16Speaker 1: getting nervous because as the game went on, it became
- 27:19Speaker 1: less and less apparent. Right they were making all these
- 27:21Speaker 1: calls where Brandon Staley was like, it didn't matter what
- 27:24Speaker 1: it was, he was going forward on fourth down and
- 27:26Speaker 1: it didn't matter how close to the goal line they
- 27:28Speaker 1: were going for it. And of course they ended up
- 27:32Speaker 1: losing that game and not covering, and it was heartbreaking.
- 27:35Speaker 1: And you know, yeah, I mean the worst part of
- 27:41Speaker 1: the Npro is Chad story right there. I can tell
- 27:43Speaker 1: you every bad boss I've ever had, I can't. I
- 27:45Speaker 1: can maybe only tell you about ten great wins. I
- 27:47Speaker 1: think that's like a human survivor instinct where it's like
- 27:50Speaker 1: you just you remember the bad ones, not really good ones.
- 27:53Speaker 1: But that was probably one of my worst beat last
- 27:55Speaker 1: year just because yeah, if you just kicked one of
- 27:57Speaker 1: those skill goals, there was never gonna be overtime. Like
- 28:00Speaker 1: they were up I believe ten, with like four minutes
- 28:02Speaker 1: to go, and that was that was the meltdown of miltdowns.
- 28:06Speaker 1: But again because of that game though, it got me
- 28:08Speaker 1: off the Chargers, which saved me a lot of money
- 28:10Speaker 1: going forward, because like, from that point on, I was
- 28:13Speaker 1: out on that team. Well, was that your biggest loss
- 28:17Speaker 1: of the year. I know that losses ever because the
- 28:21Speaker 1: Colts was like a big six figure loss. Remember the
- 28:24Speaker 1: tightening game that was by Faun That took me like
- 28:27Speaker 1: three winning weeks to get that money back. Like that
- 28:30Speaker 1: was that wasn't really hurt because I was all in
- 28:33Speaker 1: on it. I mean I think I had Colts win.
- 28:35Speaker 1: It opened like two and a half too, and then
- 28:38Speaker 1: by kick off just from the fans of the show
- 28:40Speaker 1: and like other pros like betting with us. I mean,
- 28:43Speaker 1: it might have been like minus two Colts, Like we
- 28:44Speaker 1: moved at four and a half, five point something crazy
- 28:47Speaker 1: like that, and they were one up. I believe they're
- 28:49Speaker 1: up fourteen, about to drive to go up twenty one
- 28:52Speaker 1: nothing And I don't know if it was a pick
- 28:54Speaker 1: or a fumble, but whatever happened, I just put the
- 28:56Speaker 1: entire game. That was brutal, but at the same time,
- 28:59Speaker 1: it was like when really really awful things like that happened.
- 29:02Speaker 1: As a better I know it always is going to
- 29:04Speaker 1: balance back out. Yeah, I was raged betting um the
- 29:08Speaker 1: next two weeks, but it worked out luckily. Like I was,
- 29:13Speaker 1: I had pretty much started riding the forty nine who
- 29:16Speaker 1: were on a crazy run than this season, so I
- 29:19Speaker 1: would say they're one of the teams that definitely stayed
- 29:21Speaker 1: my ass last season getting money back. All Right, that
- 29:23Speaker 1: is it for part one. We've covered so much ground
- 29:27Speaker 1: and there is so much more to come. We will
- 29:29Speaker 1: be back with Part two, answering more questions, going deeper
- 29:34Speaker 1: into the life, habits, and all that other good stuff
- 29:38Speaker 1: of professional betters. This has been the Favorites podcast from
