Old Time Radio Horror — Escape: "Dead of Night" Original Audition (1947) | Full Episode
Months before Escape became CBS radio's half hour of high adventure, this was the very first pilot, broadcast on February 28, 1947 under the name Out of This World. The story is a chilling ventriloquist tale borrowed from the 1945 British horror classic Dead of Night: a British ventriloquist and an American rival who can't stand each other, and a wooden dummy with ideas of its own. The same script was remade as the March 21 Escape audition, but this is where it all began. 🎧 46,000+ classic shows — unlimited listening for about 20¢ a day…
