- Malcolm: So I'm saying like and even if you look at Anthropic and like their job postings a lot of them have like this if you read the fine print at the bottom of all of the job descriptions it's like this this position may not exist a year from now like they are very well aware of the fact that they are at a like inflection point in AI bro. It's just like It's just like no like but it's like I have I read that but I see that but they pay their base salary be like 350k Ridiculous equity. This is like a I'm gonna lie I'm not too worried about that fine print, bro. Like, it's crazy. You feel me? Like, it's different, bro. Thomas: You're going to work for that 350, though. It's going to be 80 hours a week. Malcolm: Yeah, yeah, yeah, nice. Thomas: And I'm how much every two weeks would that be? It's like 10,000 every two weeks. Malcolm: I mean, the California tax is probably eating a big chunk of that, but it's just like, I ain't like, that's still ridiculous. Like, it's ridiculous, bro. Thomas: Yeah, Cali taxes, yeah, you're good. Yeah. Malcolm: I'm telling you, bro. Like, it's, I remember, we remember them very, very well, actually. My, my boy, just started his, ⁓ Thomas: Full time with Apple. Malcolm: No, he just started his internship at Apple today. ⁓ Yeah, man, so that my boy Isaiah, he don't even know what's coming, man. Thomas: ⁓ internship. He gonna get that paycheck, see 50 % gone off the top. Malcolm: Okay, I told him that I was like, prepared, bro. When you see them taxes come in, you see 41 % going to the state of California, just be okay. Just know you're gonna be okay, Thomas: Top ramen didn't go anywhere man. He'll have food It's hard out here and that speaks to another point man like people I Understand people making six figures may not have as much room to complain to somebody making 20 30 K But there is something to be said that Costs are going up like I was looking at a house recently It the price more than doubled over the last 10 years salaries have not more than doubled you look at every everything is going up So a hundred hundred K Malcolm: Mm-hmm. but wages. Thomas: Wages are not the same. Like hundred thousand might've been great money, even in a place like Cali, maybe not great, but in a place like California, a hundred K was probably like LA probably would have been decent. But I remember in 2022, they said you need $114,000 just to live comfortably by yourself in 2022. Malcolm: That's by yourself. That's what no dependence, no family, no kids, no nothing. It's a tall task, man. Thomas: Yeah, it's cool. And that's people who, and that's like, I'm not saying anyone should feel bad for other people, but it's like, before you judge somebody complaining who makes more than you, like you got, there's a lot to consider there. Like I wouldn't be right to look at someone making 200,000 a year and say that they're complaining for not having more and that they're saying they're struggling when I don't know their situation. They could be single parent, have multiple like kids at home, house to pay for. 200,000 is not covering all that. depending on where you live. If you live in West Virginia, sure, that'll cover that. But if you live LA, New York, not even in a suburb, that's not covering that. So everything is in a perspective. Yeah, it's rough out here, man. And going back to the investment point earlier, we've said this before, because I was recently talking about this with someone. If you don't have money to buy a full share because things are getting expensive, put $5, $10 in every now and then, every few weeks. You'll see how it changes. You can see that five turn to 10. And then I always feel like, I wish I had more money. I wish I had more money to do that. At least you're doing something. You're always going to wish you had more money. I bet Elon Musk probably wishes he had more money to invest because the $100 million he saw turn to $500 million, he was probably thinking I could have turned $1 billion into $5 billion and $10 billion into $50. You just have to start somewhere. Malcolm: Yeah, nice. Thomas: I don't know what I would do if I got a billion. I'm not going to say I'm giving it all the way off the rip, but I don't need a billion. Malcolm: I'm giving, I'm donating a good amount to charity or to my community, bro. Thomas: ⁓ no, I would... No, no, I think what I would do, there's a lot I want to do with the community, not just giving away things. I actually want to build things because I think when you give people money, like charity, you don't have as much control over how it's used. So if you have a billion, you can actually build schools and facilities and like set people up to hire good staff. And like, I would do things like that, make sure I'm straight, family straight, and then everything else, I'd probably just give away. Like, I wouldn't need a billion dollars or... I don't know. I don't want to just give it away. I would intelligently give it away, like, ⁓ over a period of time.
