- 0:38Speaker 3: Hell, I'm Johnny Kay.
- 0:40Speaker 1: We are paying tribute to the great John R. Cash today.
- 0:45Speaker 1: This is birthday born February twenty sixth, nineteen thirty two
- 0:51Speaker 1: in poverty at Arkansas. We'll be playing some John R. Cash.
- 0:56Speaker 1: But that's probably not the lead. I probably buried the lead.
- 1:00Speaker 1: We are live at the Taste of Aggie Land at
- 1:03Speaker 1: the Presidents County Expo Center. It is an annual occurrence
- 1:08Speaker 1: for US and for some reason, they keep inviting me back.
- 1:12Speaker 1: And I finally figured out. You know, I've been thinking
- 1:15Speaker 1: about this and I think I've finally figured it out.
- 1:18Speaker 1: I really don't eat very much, you know. They they
- 1:22Speaker 1: kind of bring little servings to me, and I scooped
- 1:27Speaker 1: those down, and after about the third little cup, they go, Okay,
- 1:32Speaker 1: you're done, could you leave now? And I do. And
- 1:35Speaker 1: so that relationship has worked out well for twenty plus
- 1:39Speaker 1: years for us. So however long it's been, they keep
- 1:43Speaker 1: inviting me back, and and I'm you know, I'm glad
- 1:46Speaker 1: they do. Coming up, we're gonna hear from Coach cal
- 1:51Speaker 1: We're gonna hear from Bucky on the game last night.
- 1:54Speaker 1: We have got a high school report, we have got
- 1:57Speaker 1: Clark Eisenhower Outdoors show in the second part of the program,
- 2:04Speaker 1: and we're going to be here with you. The doors
- 2:05Speaker 1: open at five o'clock. You can come buy tickets here.
- 2:10Speaker 1: They're about forty restaurants represented, restaurants, dessert and sweet shops,
- 2:18Speaker 1: coffee places. Did I leave anything out? All the major
- 2:23Speaker 1: huh food trucks, all the major food groups are represented
- 2:29Speaker 1: here at the Expo Center. And if past years are
- 2:34Speaker 1: any indicationion and I believe they are. We'll be talking
- 2:39Speaker 1: to some of very important people before the show is over.
- 2:47Speaker 1: So last night in Vietnam, Arkansas, BATA and M ninety
- 2:51Speaker 1: nine eighty four the agg He's got twenty nine from
- 2:56Speaker 1: Zach Clements. He was eleven of four team from the field,
- 3:01Speaker 1: three of six beyond the arc. Scored twenty two of
- 3:06Speaker 1: his twenty nine in the second half. A and M
- 3:10Speaker 1: shot over fifty percent in the second half. They shot
- 3:14Speaker 1: almost sixty percent. But Arkansas had a plus fourteen and
- 3:20Speaker 1: second chance points had plus thirteen. In offensive rebounds they
- 3:29Speaker 1: were minus depending how you look at it. A and
- 3:33Speaker 1: M had sixteen turnovers, Arkansas had nine. So and they
- 3:42Speaker 1: had you know, nineteen two hundred people there at Bud
- 3:47Speaker 1: Walton Arena in Arkansas. And we'll hear from Bucky later.
- 3:50Speaker 1: But this team is loaded, and I'm telling you I
- 3:56Speaker 1: think they have Final four talent and Final four ability.
- 4:02Speaker 1: And once Scott Clinton and I talked about on Monday,
- 4:05Speaker 1: came true again. I don't get it. Trayvon Brazil just
- 4:12Speaker 1: sees maroon and goes crazy quiet the rest of the
- 4:16Speaker 1: year except for maybe a game or two. Last night,
- 4:20Speaker 1: fourteen and eight and plus twenty three. I mean, how
- 4:26Speaker 1: does that happen? I don't know. It's just one of
- 4:31Speaker 1: those oddities, but it did happen. Florida came from behind
- 4:36Speaker 1: beat Texas last night in Austin. Vanderbilt took down Georgia,
- 4:42Speaker 1: Alabama took down Mississippi State, and I don't know what
- 4:46Speaker 1: happened in the old Miss LSU game. I'll have to
- 4:49Speaker 1: check that out. I haven't looked at the score. I
- 4:52Speaker 1: don't really care. So the SEC and the Big Ten
- 4:58Speaker 1: are throwing their weight around again. They're distributing to congressional lawmakers.
- 5:03Speaker 1: This week, according to Yahoo Sports, a white paper taking
- 5:09Speaker 1: aim at those arguing for the consolidation of media rights,
- 5:15Speaker 1: and there specifically after Cody Campbell, the Texas tech sugar
- 5:22Speaker 1: daddy who has started a saving college sports movement. It
- 5:28Speaker 1: works to refute a theory that consolidating the TV rights
- 5:35Speaker 1: and reconfiguring football schedules would generate enough additional revenue to
- 5:42Speaker 1: quote save college sports from its current financial situation. Now
- 5:48Speaker 1: that's kind of weird, because these schools are generating billions.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I didn't know they had to be saved. I didn't
- 5:59Speaker 1: know that they were going broke. They were going to
- 6:03Speaker 1: file bankruptcy charges. Campbell released a statement saying I haven't
- 6:08Speaker 1: read the whole thing yet, can't, for the life of
- 6:11Speaker 1: me figure out why they released that. Right now, we're
- 6:15Speaker 1: trying to get an Amended Score Act passed in the House,
- 6:19Speaker 1: if nothing else but to show some progress and momentum.
- 6:24Speaker 1: This version of the bill does not include mention of SBA,
- 6:31Speaker 1: so this is a distraction that makes passage even more difficult.
- 6:39Speaker 1: So you know, look, college sports doesn't need to be saved,
- 6:47Speaker 1: it just needs to be saved from itself. And as
- 6:51Speaker 1: long as everyone is more concerned about their own interest,
- 6:57Speaker 1: sec pig ten, nothing's going to happen because they got
- 7:04Speaker 1: a lot of money, and again, I don't know what
- 7:07Speaker 1: we have to save them from. In their language, the
- 7:11Speaker 1: NCAA Rules Subcommittee proposed a one year trial rule to
- 7:14Speaker 1: modify targeting. Under a new recommendation, players disqualified for targeting
- 7:22Speaker 1: for the first time during the season will be allowed
- 7:24Speaker 1: to play in their next game, which is long overdue.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I would like to see some clarification on how that
- 7:33Speaker 1: rule is officiated. I don't know if we'll get that.
- 7:39Speaker 1: The University of Cincinnati is suing former quarterback Brendon Soresby
- 7:42Speaker 1: for breach of contracts, seeking a million dollar buyout for
- 7:47Speaker 1: his transfer to Texas Tech the Athletics as Cincinnati claims
- 7:51Speaker 1: Soresby broke a revenue sharing agreement with the school, owes
- 7:55Speaker 1: the university money under the conditions of the deal. The
- 8:00Speaker 1: lawsuit claims Soresby signed an eighteen month, two season agreement
- 8:04Speaker 1: with Cincinnati which ran through December fifteenth of twenty twenty six,
- 8:11Speaker 1: with a million dollar buyout do within thirty days if
- 8:13Speaker 1: he transferred to another university before completion of term. Apparently
- 8:20Speaker 1: got four million from Texas Tech. Normally I wouldn't mention this,
- 8:27Speaker 1: but they're doing the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. Thirteen
- 8:33Speaker 1: Aggies were combined at the combine and invited. If you
- 8:40Speaker 1: really care, then you know what's going on. You can
- 8:44Speaker 1: watch the NFL network. There's all kinds of If you
- 8:48Speaker 1: want to know what Albert Regis's forty yard dash time is,
- 8:54Speaker 1: I'm sure you can find out. This is disturbing. The
- 8:59Speaker 1: philadelph Inquirer found dangerous chemicals in the astra turf of
- 9:06Speaker 1: the now demolished Veteran Stadium. Six Phillies who played on
- 9:13Speaker 1: that turf including Tug McGraw, Darren Dalton, John Vukovich, John Oates,
- 9:23Speaker 1: the former Rangers manager Ken Brett, and David West, have
- 9:29Speaker 1: all died of a rare and aggressive brain cancer in
- 9:35Speaker 1: their forties or fifties, roughly three times the rate of
- 9:40Speaker 1: the average adult population, gleo blastoma. The Phillies sold pieces
- 9:48Speaker 1: of the turf and sealed four by four inch bags.
- 9:52Speaker 1: The Inquirer purchased for those on in eBay and analyzed
- 9:58Speaker 1: samples by two separate labs that found sixteen types of
- 10:04Speaker 1: dangerous chemicals in the turf. They are referred to as
- 10:08Speaker 1: forever chemicals because they don't break down and can last
- 10:13Speaker 1: in the human body for years. The US government estimates
- 10:20Speaker 1: twelve thousand artificial turf fields contaigned forever chemicals. So yeah,
- 10:31Speaker 1: that's that is a disturbing story. Max Schurzer put the
- 10:38Speaker 1: Toronto Blue Jays in position to win Game seven last
- 10:41Speaker 1: year and left after four to thirty innings with a
- 10:45Speaker 1: two ren lead. And Schurezer has re signed with the
- 10:51Speaker 1: Blue Jays a three million dollar base salary with up
- 10:55Speaker 1: to ten million in incentives. So we got that going
- 11:02Speaker 1: for us, which is nice. Okay, we're gonna take a
- 11:08Speaker 1: break tomorrow. Tomorrow, Jared and Jason are sitting in for Ryan,
- 11:18Speaker 1: who fills in for me on Fridays. That's the show tomorrow.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Kirk Bowls will join me with our usual Friday chat
- 11:29Speaker 1: tomorrow on the program. We are live at the Brazenes
- 11:33Speaker 1: County Expo Center. It is Taste of Aggie Land Thyme.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Tickets will be sold at the door for forty dollars.
- 11:41Speaker 1: You can sample food from up to forty businesses restaurants
- 11:47Speaker 1: that are represented here. This evening always a cool event.
- 11:52Speaker 1: We're gonna take a break, We're going to come back.
- 11:56Speaker 1: We're gonna hear from Coach Cal and his postgame comments
- 12:01Speaker 1: from last night. After this for and co Insurance.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Enco Insurance is now a part of Hub International, bringing
- 12:09Speaker 4: you more choices, better value, and even greater expertise. While
- 12:13Speaker 4: our name has changed, we're still the same local team
- 12:15Speaker 4: you know and trust, now with even more to offer
- 12:18Speaker 4: from business insurance to personal protection and employee benefits. We're
- 12:21Speaker 4: still committed to protecting what matters most with the personalized
- 12:24Speaker 4: service you expect now with the strength of Hub International
- 12:28Speaker 4: behind us, more resources, more solutions, Still your team and
- 12:31Speaker 4: co Insurance a Hub international company, So you're ready for tomorrow.
- 12:35Speaker 5: It's tech SAgs Live, brought to you by David Garters
- 12:38Speaker 5: Jewelers JB.
- 12:39Speaker 6: Moss joining us from somewhere in the DFW Metroplex.
- 12:42Speaker 7: I have never seen something like this. I mean the
- 12:45Speaker 7: numbers on the page are just unbelievable. Sixty three innings
- 12:48Speaker 7: pitch as a staff only five walks. I mean truly,
- 12:51Speaker 7: I have never seen that. And all my years of
- 12:53Speaker 7: baseball to go with seventy three strikeouts. So those are
- 12:56Speaker 7: kind of the key metrics you look for, right you
- 12:58Speaker 7: want to look at, you know, free bases, you want
- 12:59Speaker 7: to look at strikeouts. You want that number to be
- 13:01Speaker 7: above innings pitch. That kind of gives you a key
- 13:03Speaker 7: indicator if the staff has wipeout stuff or not, which
- 13:07Speaker 7: they do.
- 13:07Speaker 5: Techsag's Live weekdays from eight to eleven on the Zone.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Love gis a burning thing and it's making We're honoring
- 13:28Speaker 1: the late great Johnny Cash today. It's his birthday. He
- 13:32Speaker 1: was born on this day in nineteen thirty two, and
- 13:38Speaker 1: we're gonna hear some John Cash on the show today.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Scotlanden and sent me this, No wonder, I didn't know
- 13:45Speaker 1: it was double overtime in with LSU o Miss. Max
- 13:53Speaker 1: McKinnon scored eleven of his season nine thirty four in
- 13:56Speaker 1: the second overtime, and Shoes snapped a five game losing
- 14:02Speaker 1: streak beating Ole Miss one oh six nine. So there
- 14:12Speaker 1: you go. A and M finishes the year against LSU
- 14:21Speaker 1: the regular season, and they need to beat LSU in
- 14:25Speaker 1: the regular season unless I think they could still get
- 14:30Speaker 1: away with losing the LSU if they take down Texas
- 14:36Speaker 1: and then Kentucky next week. But let me, let me
- 14:43Speaker 1: check this real kick, because Lunardi has dropped A and
- 14:48Speaker 1: M to like the last team in the last four buys.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Let me let me look at this real quickly. You
- 15:04Speaker 1: know we talked about this yesterday. We know this from experience.
- 15:09Speaker 1: You do not want to leave anything in the hands
- 15:15Speaker 1: of the committee, right you just don't. I beg your pardon.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Texas is the last team just behind Texas, A and
- 15:27Speaker 1: M Georgia, Missouri, A and M Texas all in the
- 15:33Speaker 1: bubble with the last four buys. Last four in Auburn, TCU,
- 15:40Speaker 1: Santa Clara, Indiana. The game Saturday is important, three o'clock
- 15:49Speaker 1: Saturday afternoon. That'll be an important game. Texas led Florida
- 15:54Speaker 1: the half last night, but they could not keep up
- 15:57Speaker 1: with the Gators in the second half. They blocked eleven
- 15:59Speaker 1: shop shot the ball like crazy. Those who saw them
- 16:05Speaker 1: here know how good they are. And I think A
- 16:12Speaker 1: and M should win the game Saturday. But the shoulds
- 16:17Speaker 1: you know, in conference, they just can't leave it up
- 16:20Speaker 1: to committee. They just need to win, all right. We talked.
- 16:26Speaker 1: We talked a little bit about last night in Fayetteville.
- 16:29Speaker 1: The Aggie's going down to a really good Arkansas team,
- 16:33Speaker 1: a team that's getting better, which coach Cal's teams do
- 16:37Speaker 1: in February and March always the sign of a good coach.
- 16:42Speaker 1: And let's hear from Cal following the win last night.
- 16:48Speaker 8: To have only nine turnovers in the game that's played,
- 16:51Speaker 8: the way that game was played, it's kind of amazing.
- 16:56Speaker 8: To take what they gave us and then pull out
- 16:59Speaker 8: when you haven't played a game like that against the
- 17:02Speaker 8: team like that.
- 17:03Speaker 9: Was pretty impressive. How we played down.
- 17:05Speaker 8: The stretch, what Darius did, what the other guys did
- 17:10Speaker 8: playing through him, pretty amazing. DJ Wagner woo and he
- 17:15Speaker 8: will only get better. Billy Richmond woo. Malik Thomas. The
- 17:21Speaker 8: biggest play of the game. In my mind was that
- 17:23Speaker 8: rebound he grabbed with two hands because they were making
- 17:26Speaker 8: a little run, and he went and got that ball,
- 17:29Speaker 8: and then we ended up scoring huge play. And then
- 17:33Speaker 8: he comes down the stretch and he makes shots. Somebody
- 17:36Speaker 8: just told me Darius was one for twelve in the
- 17:39Speaker 8: first half. Probably should have subbed the mountain sat him,
- 17:44Speaker 8: but I gave him a break. But I look, I'm
- 17:47Speaker 8: just watching guys, and I just want confident guys that
- 17:50Speaker 8: you're confident when you shoot it, you're shooting it confidently,
- 17:54Speaker 8: and he does, but nothing phases him. I'm just look,
- 17:59Speaker 8: I'm a little disappo and I'm not trying to put
- 18:01Speaker 8: more on the kid. Why isn't he in the equation
- 18:04Speaker 8: in the player of the year in the country.
- 18:07Speaker 9: What are you saying? Why would you say he's averaging
- 18:10Speaker 9: as many as all those people.
- 18:12Speaker 8: He's got six assists, he's got three rebounds, he's doing
- 18:15Speaker 8: things in the guts of games.
- 18:17Speaker 9: Yeah, maybe they are, but he is too.
- 18:19Speaker 8: So why isn't he being mentioned He's playing when he
- 18:23Speaker 8: could probably take some time off games, and he's playing anyway.
- 18:28Speaker 9: I mean, he goes through.
- 18:29Speaker 8: The shoot around and only does half of it, So
- 18:31Speaker 8: he has enough to play the game.
- 18:34Speaker 9: Like should he play down in Florida?
- 18:37Speaker 8: Probably not, But I'll tell you right now, if I
- 18:39Speaker 8: said you're not playing down there, he busts out laughing,
- 18:41Speaker 8: You're out of your mind. So I'm a little disappointed
- 18:45Speaker 8: in that, but happy for TB. How about Malik Ewan.
- 18:49Speaker 8: We need to get Nick doing a little bit more,
- 18:52Speaker 8: and he will. He's a great kid. But DJ's big,
- 18:57Speaker 8: you know, being able to go and go to him
- 18:59Speaker 8: and we get better big.
- 19:03Speaker 10: Yeah, you guys forced thirteen turnovers in the first half,
- 19:06Speaker 10: sixteen overall. I guess just in the first half in particular,
- 19:09Speaker 10: was there anything you guys were doing defensively to cause
- 19:12Speaker 10: them issues, especially as they were trying to get it.
- 19:14Speaker 8: We were crowding the court a little bit and we
- 19:17Speaker 8: got active guys. What we're getting them to do is
- 19:21Speaker 8: play with their arms like this. So instead of playing
- 19:24Speaker 8: with your arms like this and you're small, just be
- 19:27Speaker 8: like you're in a zone. And now they're getting their
- 19:29Speaker 8: hands on balls, they're tipping it, their arms are closer
- 19:33Speaker 8: to a contested shot, or their arms closer to go
- 19:37Speaker 8: get a rebound or a loose ball. We've been working
- 19:40Speaker 8: on that for about three weeks now and we'll continue.
- 19:43Speaker 10: Yeah, you mentioned Billy obviously had the twenty three points
- 19:46Speaker 10: tonight and hit a couple of jumpers as well.
- 19:48Speaker 11: When the jumper is.
- 19:49Speaker 10: Falling for him, I guess just how much I guess
- 19:52Speaker 10: more difficult? Do you think that makes it for the
- 19:54Speaker 10: opposing team to guard him?
- 19:55Speaker 9: He's a great layup shooter.
- 19:57Speaker 8: The only thing he's doing some these other guys are
- 19:59Speaker 8: putting shoulder down and driving you into the cheerleaders without
- 20:04Speaker 8: any thought of making the shot, and Nick called file.
- 20:07Speaker 8: He's now getting bumped and trying to lean to make
- 20:10Speaker 8: the shot, and I keep telling him, you got to
- 20:13Speaker 8: play through it like everybody else is and just keep
- 20:15Speaker 8: shooting free throws.
- 20:17Speaker 9: But he makes those. So it's hard for me to say,
- 20:21Speaker 9: change what you're doing.
- 20:23Speaker 12: Thirty fast break points against a team that likes the
- 20:25Speaker 12: full court press and try and slow you down. How
- 20:28Speaker 12: vital is that maybe to the offense to be able
- 20:29Speaker 12: to get some easy buckets and not let them set
- 20:31Speaker 12: up that press.
- 20:32Speaker 8: The only thing that I was kind of mad at
- 20:34Speaker 8: when a team plays you that way and speeds you up,
- 20:37Speaker 8: and you're skilled like us, I say, let's score one
- 20:40Speaker 8: hundred and we didn't.
- 20:44Speaker 12: Leak you in eighteen and nine. You know, a back
- 20:47Speaker 12: to backstrong game. What kind of different layer does he
- 20:49Speaker 12: bring to the team.
- 20:50Speaker 9: How about the dunk?
- 20:52Speaker 1: You know what he'd do?
- 20:53Speaker 9: He do some kind of reverse do He just went
- 20:56Speaker 9: up and dunked it. So what would you say to him?
- 20:58Speaker 9: If you can do that, why not do that all
- 21:02Speaker 9: the time? Just go out and dunk it.
- 21:04Speaker 8: And the same with what he did rebounding the ball.
- 21:09Speaker 8: He's getting more confident. I want him to shoot some jumpers.
- 21:12Speaker 8: He can shoot. I'm not letting him shoot lefties anymore
- 21:17Speaker 8: because when he shoots right ees, he goes and rebounds
- 21:20Speaker 8: his miss. When he shoots lefty, he never rebounds. He
- 21:23Speaker 8: shoots it, but he goes righty. He'll go get it
- 21:25Speaker 8: and bang it in, go and score. But you know,
- 21:30Speaker 8: I'm happy for him.
- 21:31Speaker 9: It has been rough.
- 21:31Speaker 8: If you remember last year with john Nell Nelly, it
- 21:35Speaker 8: was rough for a while and then he kicked it
- 21:38Speaker 8: in and by the end of the year.
- 21:40Speaker 9: He was what we all thought he would be.
- 21:42Speaker 8: Let's hope that's the same for Malik Ewan because he's
- 21:46Speaker 8: he has made unbelievable strides in all areas, in everything.
- 21:51Speaker 8: He's doing so I want him to be rewarded with
- 21:54Speaker 8: what he did today.
- 21:56Speaker 13: Yeah, he and TV combined for eleven of those thirteen
- 21:59Speaker 13: offensive ps, and TB said earlier that they've kind of
- 22:03Speaker 13: recognized that they've struggled in that department, but they've taken
- 22:06Speaker 13: a little bit more onus on that. Just what do
- 22:08Speaker 13: you think about their efforts on offensive glass?
- 22:10Speaker 8: And well, you know what it is, it's offensive rebound attempts.
- 22:15Speaker 9: So we keep track.
- 22:17Speaker 8: So if there were twenty opportunities for you to go
- 22:21Speaker 8: offensive rebound and you only go eight times, that stinks.
- 22:27Speaker 8: If there's twenty opportunities and you go seventeen or eighteen,
- 22:30Speaker 8: you're really good.
- 22:32Speaker 9: But you know what, that's hard. It's easier to just
- 22:35Speaker 9: run back.
- 22:37Speaker 8: And so now I'm just showing him here's your rebound
- 22:40Speaker 8: attempt numbers. Just go attempt to rebound and you know
- 22:44Speaker 8: what you find out, Oh my gosh, I'm dunking this.
- 22:47Speaker 8: You know, I'm laying it in. So TB did some
- 22:50Speaker 8: good stuff today. He's going to be fine. Made his
- 22:53Speaker 8: free throws, did all the stuff, made a three or two?
- 22:59Speaker 8: We only made four four threes? What if we had
- 23:02Speaker 8: made eight instead of four? So we're still not quite
- 23:08Speaker 8: making the numbers that we want to make. But if
- 23:11Speaker 8: you're going to score ninety nine, it's okay to make
- 23:15Speaker 8: four and only shoot seventeen.
- 23:19Speaker 14: Back to moly, Hew and I mean two really good
- 23:22Speaker 14: games back to back. Can you envision a scenario where
- 23:25Speaker 14: he you know, kind of shifts into that starting rotation.
- 23:28Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 23:30Speaker 8: I started him in the second half, and he played
- 23:34Speaker 8: most of the minutes in the first half, So who
- 23:35Speaker 8: really cares in the.
- 23:38Speaker 14: First half Areas Molie combined and go one for fifteen.
- 23:41Speaker 14: The rest of the team was twelve for twenty one
- 23:44Speaker 14: with the two freshmen. Kind of that carried you guys for
- 23:47Speaker 14: big portions of games. How big was it for you
- 23:50Speaker 14: to get you know, for the rest of the guys
- 23:52Speaker 14: to carry that well.
- 23:53Speaker 8: The last game, I sat Darius out the last five
- 23:56Speaker 8: minutes of the half and we went on a nineteen
- 23:58Speaker 8: to six run with Darius sitting. But here's what I
- 24:02Speaker 8: will tell you, at the end of the game, the
- 24:05Speaker 8: last six minutes, who did the most damage Darius in
- 24:12Speaker 8: the league.
- 24:14Speaker 9: So I want you to think about this.
- 24:16Speaker 8: Here's a freshman that goes one for twelve and then
- 24:20Speaker 8: at the end of the game has enough hutzpah to
- 24:26Speaker 8: say I'm winning this. I'm gonna win this, and Malik
- 24:30Speaker 8: Thomas absolutely the same. There's no one gonna convince either
- 24:34Speaker 8: one of those guys that they're not what you're seeing.
- 24:39Speaker 8: They know it, they're not afraid of it. If I
- 24:42Speaker 8: miss some shots, I'm making some shots. I'm not gonna
- 24:45Speaker 8: miss and then miss seven, eight, nine, nine. Believe me,
- 24:48Speaker 8: when it's time to make shots, I will make them.
- 24:52Speaker 8: Last one guys, so I can get home.
- 24:54Speaker 6: Billy has an eighteen point six points per game over
- 24:56Speaker 6: the last seven games. At the start of the year,
- 24:58Speaker 6: even at the start of SEC play, did you envision
- 25:01Speaker 6: that he turned into the score that he has been
- 25:03Speaker 6: over the last seven games.
- 25:05Speaker 8: What he's doing is he's really working on a three
- 25:07Speaker 8: point shot in practice, and I'm having him we do
- 25:11Speaker 8: some shooting things. I'm having him do two of them,
- 25:16Speaker 8: and he's look, I told him, the way you attack
- 25:20Speaker 8: the basket, you make a couple threes. How do they
- 25:23Speaker 8: guard you but let you keep making threes? No, they
- 25:27Speaker 8: come out and all of a sudden he's attacking. The
- 25:29Speaker 8: only one I was the one where he went in
- 25:32Speaker 8: and did this and they said he didn't get fouled.
- 25:34Speaker 9: I don't know, maybe he didn't, but I'm like, you
- 25:37Speaker 9: were right there. Just go through the guy.
- 25:39Speaker 8: They're going to call that a foul, and so that one,
- 25:43Speaker 8: I said, you didn't need to do the extra.
- 25:45Speaker 9: But I'll tell you he plays.
- 25:49Speaker 8: People don't even know is scoring because of all the
- 25:52Speaker 8: other stuff he does.
- 25:53Speaker 9: They don't even know until the game ends. What did
- 25:56Speaker 9: he have? Wow? He had?
- 25:57Speaker 8: What because they see the dive on the floor, tough rebounds,
- 26:01Speaker 8: to passing, all the things that he's doing. So, yeah,
- 26:07Speaker 8: we're a tough game. I mean, you're going it's game
- 26:10Speaker 8: day down in Florida. They're they're the best team in
- 26:13Speaker 8: our league right now, and we got to go on
- 26:15Speaker 8: the road.
- 26:15Speaker 9: We got two days.
- 26:17Speaker 8: We cannot practice tomorrow and guess what, we cannot practice Friday.
- 26:22Speaker 8: So we're gonna do tapework, walk through some stuff, show them,
- 26:25Speaker 8: let's throw it up and see where we are.
- 26:29Speaker 1: That's that's Cal. Always enjoy listening to coach Cal. And
- 26:38Speaker 1: you know, Darius a Cuff was one for ten in
- 26:41Speaker 1: the first half, and I don't think A and M
- 26:47Speaker 1: took full advantage of that, for sure. I know they didn't.
- 26:53Speaker 1: They allowed that big run after they were up eleven
- 26:55Speaker 1: to two. They should have taken more advantage of the
- 27:01Speaker 1: fact that a cup was off, and Kyle didn't. He
- 27:06Speaker 1: kind of alluded to him and he said, what do
- 27:07Speaker 1: you want me to do? Take him out? Well he
- 27:08Speaker 1: did take him out. You know, I'm watching early in
- 27:12Speaker 1: the second half and he sits him down, and he
- 27:15Speaker 1: goes over there and just yells at him. He gets
- 27:17Speaker 1: in his face, and so he sat him for about
- 27:20Speaker 1: two minutes, maybe three, And when he comes back in,
- 27:25Speaker 1: he's Darius A Cuff again. He's one of the top
- 27:27Speaker 1: five or six players in the United States. He is
- 27:31Speaker 1: going to be getting an even larger check next year.
- 27:36Speaker 1: And in the second half he was nails, So you
- 27:40Speaker 1: know that was an issue for sure. I already talked
- 27:45Speaker 1: about Trayvon Brazil. I don't know what it is about
- 27:49Speaker 1: A and m. Billy Richmond has been he's been great.
- 27:56Speaker 1: But this is a team that only played last night
- 28:00Speaker 1: seven players. They do not have any depth. Brazil played
- 28:05Speaker 1: thirty Richmond played almost thirty four minutes, Malik Thomas played
- 28:11Speaker 1: almost thirty a Cuff played thirty seven of the forty minutes.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Okay Ewan played thirty three and a half minutes. DJ
- 28:22Speaker 1: Wagner played twenty nine minutes, and that's it. They don't
- 28:29Speaker 1: have much depth. To me. That's an issue at tournament time,
- 28:37Speaker 1: you know, with the with the two games in what
- 28:40Speaker 1: three days, But and they're talented, that's a good team.
- 28:47Speaker 1: They are at Florida. Cali alluded to that, and they
- 28:53Speaker 1: are at Florida Saturday. That game is in the evening.
- 28:59Speaker 1: It is seven point thirty on ESPN. It's gonna be fun.
- 29:05Speaker 1: That will follow by ways, unless something weird happens. Texas
- 29:11Speaker 1: and A and M are on ESPN. Two Alabama Tennessee
- 29:16Speaker 1: are the five o'clock game, and then the seven thirty
- 29:19Speaker 1: game is Arkansas and Florida. And those are gonna be
- 29:26Speaker 1: really three really good games. So there you go. Coming up,
- 29:35Speaker 1: we've got a high school report. Caleb's gonna be here.
- 29:38Speaker 1: We're gonna hear from Bucky as well. We've got Clark Eisenhower. Addition,
- 29:45Speaker 1: in the second hour, we've got a couple of really
- 29:48Speaker 1: bad animals attacking that we will be talking about. So
- 29:53Speaker 1: we've got that going on. I'll mention again tomorrow. Jared
- 29:57Speaker 1: and Jason are filling in for Ryan, who fills in
- 30:01Speaker 1: for me on Fridays, but I will have my weekly
- 30:05Speaker 1: conversation with Kirk Bulls of the Houston Chronicle Monday, well,
- 30:10Speaker 1: the Writer's round Table, so we got that going on.
- 30:13Speaker 1: We'll be able to talk some baseball. The Aggie's up
- 30:16Speaker 1: at Globe Life in Arlington, playing a much better schedule
- 30:20Speaker 1: than they have played so far, including the number one
- 30:23Speaker 1: team UCLA on Saturday evening, so we will have that
- 30:27Speaker 1: to talk about too. We're going to take a break.
- 30:30Speaker 1: We've got the high school report coming up. I want
- 30:34Speaker 1: to mention to you that my friends at Galleria Spa

- 34:02Speaker 21: Polaris Fun Center phone line to visit with the head
- 34:05Speaker 21: coach of the Centerville Tigers baseball team, mister demon Denman.
- 34:09Speaker 20: Coach d thanks for joining.
- 34:11Speaker 11: Me today, No problems, my pleasure.
- 34:13Speaker 21: Your tigers coming off of a state championship winning season
- 34:17Speaker 21: in two A, so a big year for the Tigers
- 34:21Speaker 21: last year. How do you plan to follow that up
- 34:24Speaker 21: this year? You know, you kind of set the expectations
- 34:26Speaker 21: pretty high for yourself.
- 34:27Speaker 16: Yeah, Hey, just trying to do what we've always done
- 34:30Speaker 16: is try to play a good brand of baseball, try
- 34:33Speaker 16: to be excited about getting after it every day and
- 34:35Speaker 16: just just playing our hardest, to try to play our
- 34:38Speaker 16: best ball at the right times and just try to,
- 34:41Speaker 16: you know, try to do what we can to give
- 34:43Speaker 16: ourselves the best opportunity to maybe even do something like
- 34:46Speaker 16: we did last year.
- 34:48Speaker 21: So last year, one of the biggest pieces of that
- 34:51Speaker 21: team did graduate, Jake Pineda.
- 34:53Speaker 20: Your star shortstop and picture.
- 34:56Speaker 21: Yeah yeah, he is actually a played games at Army
- 35:01Speaker 21: in West Point. I've noticed he's got a couple of
- 35:03Speaker 21: bats up there. But how has it been this year? Yeah, yeah,
- 35:08Speaker 21: I saw that. How has it been this year? Trying
- 35:10Speaker 21: to fill that void?
- 35:12Speaker 16: Oh well, I told the guy the other day, there's
- 35:15Speaker 16: not a lot a lot of Jake Prenata's just walking
- 35:17Speaker 16: around everywhere.
- 35:18Speaker 11: He's a he's a really a really good player.
- 35:21Speaker 16: And hopefully just having a bunch of guys that are
- 35:24Speaker 16: a year older and a year more experienced that are
- 35:28Speaker 16: better or better because of the experience they had last
- 35:31Speaker 16: year and the years before with playing with a guy
- 35:34Speaker 16: like Pineda, and hopefully all of us together will make
- 35:37Speaker 16: up for that, not just you know, depending on one
- 35:40Speaker 16: person to put all that on his shoulders, you know
- 35:43Speaker 16: what I mean?
- 35:44Speaker 21: Yes, sir, and y'all were pretty fortunate that he was
- 35:47Speaker 21: one of the only seniors that graduated last year. So
- 35:51Speaker 21: a lot coming back from that state championship winning team.
- 35:55Speaker 21: Who are some of the players that stand out for you?
- 35:57Speaker 16: Well, we we graduated, actually graduated four, but Jake was
- 36:02Speaker 16: the only starter.
- 36:04Speaker 11: They they're graduated. But uh, I want.
- 36:08Speaker 16: To give shouts out of those, uh, those those other
- 36:10Speaker 16: three guys that weren't starters because they were they were
- 36:13Speaker 16: leaders every day, they worked their butts off every day
- 36:16Speaker 16: and practicing in the weight room and and uh you
- 36:19Speaker 16: know some of them would spot play here or run
- 36:22Speaker 16: basis for us, and uh they were just as much
- 36:25Speaker 16: a part of it as anyone.
- 36:27Speaker 11: So so I appreciate those guys.
- 36:29Speaker 16: But but uh, uh, I don't I don't.
- 36:33Speaker 11: Get to and involved in in naming names. But uh,
- 36:37Speaker 11: but we just have we just have a good group.
- 36:39Speaker 11: We have kids that like that, like playing ball. They
- 36:42Speaker 11: get after it.
- 36:43Speaker 16: They uh they and uh and uh they look forward
- 36:47Speaker 16: to this season as do I and uh and and
- 36:51Speaker 16: they they they kind of lay it on the line
- 36:53Speaker 16: for me.
- 36:53Speaker 11: And I appreciate him for it.
- 36:55Speaker 21: So already played in a couple of tournaments in the
- 36:57Speaker 21: midst of one right now. Yeah, yeah, this morning, got
- 37:01Speaker 21: got two wins over Clifton and Malakoff respectively. So how
- 37:05Speaker 21: have you felt about the team's performance and how they're jelling.
- 37:08Speaker 11: Well, Uh, they're just they're just trying to do what
- 37:11Speaker 11: I asked him to do.
- 37:12Speaker 16: Uh we uh we of course we got some We
- 37:16Speaker 16: got some good pitching performances from uh and uh since
- 37:20Speaker 16: uh the name names, uh we got we got some
- 37:23Speaker 16: good pitching performances from both uh Blake Boyd and Remyton
- 37:28Speaker 16: Duck and and uh in game one, and then in
- 37:32Speaker 16: in game two, uh why Kelly came out and did
- 37:35Speaker 16: a great job of setting the tone on the mound
- 37:37Speaker 16: force and then uh Cooper Wilson came in and finished
- 37:40Speaker 16: it out for us on the maund So so uh,
- 37:43Speaker 16: uh it's been kind of some some good good pitching
- 37:48Speaker 16: performances and some good defenses, some good defense, and then
- 37:52Speaker 16: then some kindly hitting kind of kind of came up
- 37:55Speaker 16: with some barrels when we needed.
- 37:57Speaker 21: Yeah, that's kind of always seemed to be Your style
- 38:00Speaker 21: of play is strong on pitching and defense and timely
- 38:04Speaker 21: hitting like you mentioned, which is really exciting brand of
- 38:07Speaker 21: baseball to watch.
- 38:08Speaker 11: Yeah, he trust me. I love I love to just
- 38:10Speaker 11: crush the ball all over the place all the time.
- 38:12Speaker 11: I'll take it and we can get it.
- 38:14Speaker 16: But but you know, hey, we faced some good teams
- 38:17Speaker 16: with good pictures, and uh, they get outs and they
- 38:20Speaker 16: miss barrels, and and uh we have to we have
- 38:24Speaker 16: to take.
- 38:24Speaker 11: Them where we can get them, you know.
- 38:26Speaker 16: And and keep giving ourselves a chance by playing solid
- 38:29Speaker 16: on defense.
- 38:31Speaker 20: So looking at how the district's shaping up so far this.
- 38:33Speaker 21: Year, you know, Love Lady always going to be one
- 38:36Speaker 21: of the biggest competitors for that district title, along with
- 38:40Speaker 21: y'all and some of the other schools in there.
- 38:43Speaker 20: So what are your thoughts on your schedule this year?
- 38:45Speaker 11: Hey, as far as district.
- 38:48Speaker 16: Uh, I was talking to h to one of the
- 38:52Speaker 16: actual coaches today, and I was telling him that that
- 38:56Speaker 16: that that's a That's one thing about our district. It's
- 38:59Speaker 16: always you know, it's always very evenly matched. We always
- 39:03Speaker 16: we always have a UH.
- 39:05Speaker 11: And I think it prepares us for the playoffs, you know,
- 39:09Speaker 11: with us and Love.
- 39:10Speaker 16: Lady and Normandy and Leon and and UH and those
- 39:16Speaker 16: those guys, they all we all like, we all get after,
- 39:19Speaker 16: we all get after each other and and UH and
- 39:23Speaker 16: and also you know it's even a step higher.
- 39:26Speaker 11: Probably with with UH.
- 39:28Speaker 16: You know, Love Lady kind of became a rival of
- 39:31Speaker 16: ours when we moved in the district with them some
- 39:33Speaker 16: years back. But you know, Leon and Normangy are both
- 39:37Speaker 16: both county schools in the same county, so you know,
- 39:42Speaker 16: our kids all know each other. The parents all know
- 39:44Speaker 16: each other, so so we have good rival robberies with
- 39:47Speaker 16: them too. So so so you know, whenever we play
- 39:51Speaker 16: each other, you can kind of throw us the throw
- 39:54Speaker 16: the the the records out the window.
- 39:57Speaker 11: You know, it's just baseball. We're getting after you show.
- 40:01Speaker 21: Yeah, that's always one of the great things about you know,
- 40:03Speaker 21: the small schools, they're usually grouped a little closer together
- 40:06Speaker 21: than some of these big schools when you get out
- 40:09Speaker 21: into the four.
- 40:10Speaker 20: A and five A situation.
- 40:12Speaker 21: But that's my favorite thing about two A football is
- 40:14Speaker 21: that you really are to a sports in general. Uh,
- 40:17Speaker 21: you have that close connection with your rivals and it's
- 40:20Speaker 21: always a good battle every year.
- 40:21Speaker 16: We can't you know, we can't forget about it about
- 40:23Speaker 16: Grape Grapeland as well. I don't want I don't want
- 40:26Speaker 16: to leave any of those guys out because we've had games.
- 40:29Speaker 11: We've had games those guys, I know.
- 40:31Speaker 16: Uh, we thought thought we were we had a pretty
- 40:34Speaker 16: good group going and uh oh some years back, the
- 40:37Speaker 16: year we went to the semifinals, the first time we
- 40:40Speaker 16: went to the semi finals, we played Grape one over
- 40:42Speaker 16: there the first district game. Then they put it on
- 40:44Speaker 16: this man. So so it's a it's always it's always
- 40:48Speaker 16: tough in our district.
- 40:50Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 40:50Speaker 21: That's another great thing about baseball is that you never
- 40:53Speaker 21: know any given day what team's going to show up.
- 40:57Speaker 20: It's it could always go it could always go either way.
- 41:00Speaker 20: Like you said, Yeah, y'all were one of the best teams.

- 46:24Speaker 1: I've already seen the head Hancho. He is going to
- 46:27Speaker 1: come visit with us. After the top of the hour,
- 46:30Speaker 1: we are going to have some of the Clark Eisen
- 46:34Speaker 1: Our Outdoor edition. We've got some outdoor notes, We've got
- 46:37Speaker 1: some animals attacking. We've got a kayak trip down in
- 46:45Speaker 1: the Rockport area for speckled trout. So we've got all
- 46:49Speaker 1: of that coming up for you here this evening. Right now,
- 46:55Speaker 1: we're gonna hear from Bucky from the postgame show, from
- 46:59Speaker 1: Andrew and John Thornton last night after the Aggies ninety
- 47:04Speaker 1: nine eighty four loss to Arkansas.
- 47:08Speaker 26: Oh, they're a good team. They're talented, they're good. We
- 47:13Speaker 26: didn't play with enough of aggressive, enough aggressiveness on offense.
- 47:18Speaker 26: We played a little two passive to start the game
- 47:20Speaker 26: and it resulted in too many turnovers.
- 47:23Speaker 9: The game was lost in.
- 47:24Speaker 26: That in that segment there, you know, just taking ourselves
- 47:27Speaker 26: a hole. We came back after them cut it down
- 47:28Speaker 26: to four, was that right?
- 47:29Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 47:30Speaker 1: Yeah, sixty?
- 47:31Speaker 26: And then they made some big, big plays obviously you know,
- 47:34Speaker 26: you got a lottery pick on their team that made
- 47:37Speaker 26: some big plays late. We had it right there, missed
- 47:39Speaker 26: a couple of free throws, and other than that, I
- 47:42Speaker 26: was proud of the fight the second half. They're a
- 47:44Speaker 26: hard team to beat in here. Not me, people get them. No,
- 47:47Speaker 26: you got to put two halves together right there. You
- 47:48Speaker 26: just can't have these many turners we did to start
- 47:50Speaker 26: the game. But all in all, they probably wouldn't have
- 47:53Speaker 26: lost a lot of teams tonight in here right the
- 47:55Speaker 26: way that they they their their key players played down
- 47:57Speaker 26: the stretch.
- 47:58Speaker 27: Well you started the game when they overplayed and then
- 48:00Speaker 27: getting the pass and think that really kind of cut
- 48:02Speaker 27: them up a little bit. I mean, got the back door,
- 48:04Speaker 27: got the pass, lot of assists. But defensively, they they are,
- 48:07Speaker 27: they're length and their ability to get up there and
- 48:10Speaker 27: force the issue. Uh, we got adjusted to it in
- 48:14Speaker 27: the second half, but didn't handle it well just to start.
- 48:16Speaker 26: Yeah, I agree, it's a it's a it's a good
- 48:20Speaker 26: team with a lot of good players. And then they
- 48:21Speaker 26: will coach you know what they're doing. So we we
- 48:25Speaker 26: knew that they take a good game from us. And
- 48:28Speaker 26: you can't help them out. You can't help them be good.
- 48:31Speaker 27: You can't help them with turnovers through going to the
- 48:33Speaker 27: free throw line as much as they did.
- 48:34Speaker 26: Yeah, you can't, you know, and getting in there and
- 48:37Speaker 26: and we're a little underside of some of that.
- 48:39Speaker 1: I get it.
- 48:40Speaker 26: But you know, we played good enough defense the first
- 48:43Speaker 26: half to win and good enough offense the second half.
- 48:47Speaker 9: Put those together, you know.
- 48:48Speaker 26: That's how it was. I mean, it's it's uh. We
- 48:51Speaker 26: ended up shooting fifty three percent from the field from
- 48:53Speaker 26: the game thirty two percent from three. But if you
- 48:55Speaker 26: look at this they had uh we had we had
- 48:59Speaker 26: sixteen turns, they had none, and then offensive rebounds they
- 49:02Speaker 26: doubled us up there. So you just get too many
- 49:05Speaker 26: shots at there at the basket.
- 49:06Speaker 22: And you talked about paint being important as well, those
- 49:09Speaker 22: paint points and they're fast break points.
- 49:11Speaker 9: They're so good they sometimes go hand in.
- 49:13Speaker 22: Hand with those turnovers and the and the fast breaks
- 49:15Speaker 22: as well.
- 49:16Speaker 9: Well.
- 49:16Speaker 26: We looked at in the first half at one point,
- 49:18Speaker 26: you know, and and they had not scored a lot
- 49:20Speaker 26: of points against our set d. It was mainly off
- 49:23Speaker 26: our turnovers, and that's where you helped where we helped them.
- 49:25Speaker 26: We just gave them two many Now we got back
- 49:27Speaker 26: in the game right there, playing aggressive and then today
- 49:34Speaker 26: a little late that they won their match up there. Yeah,
- 49:36Speaker 26: you know, Daris just he was a good player in
- 49:38Speaker 26: those moments and the next game, maybe we win that matchup, right,
- 49:41Speaker 26: And that's kind of what it comes down to sometimes
- 49:43Speaker 26: those games is that he went off. They made the
- 49:46Speaker 26: last twelve baskets. Yeah, and and I'm gonna say some
- 49:49Speaker 26: of those we play good defense.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Yes, sometimes they take the shots.
- 49:52Speaker 9: They wanted them to.
- 49:52Speaker 27: Well you said that all the time. Hey, it's gonna
- 49:54Speaker 27: be the individual matchups. When he stepped back and made
- 49:57Speaker 27: that three late shot clock, hey pat him on a
- 50:00Speaker 27: I mean you make that kind of play, Hey, we'll
- 50:02Speaker 27: power to you.
- 50:03Speaker 26: That's exactly right, you know. But I really was. I
- 50:05Speaker 26: was proud of the fight and.
- 50:07Speaker 27: Well that that battle when the crowd was in it.
- 50:10Speaker 27: You're still pressing, You're gonna always do that. You even
- 50:13Speaker 27: ratchet it up a notch. Yeah, and got right back
- 50:16Speaker 27: in that thing. But they just explosive as they are.
- 50:18Speaker 27: It's just it's a hard thing to contend with in
- 50:20Speaker 27: this building.
- 50:21Speaker 26: Well, their potential final fourteen, that's for sure, you know,
- 50:25Speaker 26: in a neutral site or at our place and maybe
- 50:27Speaker 26: a different outcome there, right, I mean, you know we'll
- 50:29Speaker 26: have that opportunity hopefully in Nashville, right or then say tournament. Yeah,
- 50:33Speaker 26: but what we can't do. We can't let this game
- 50:35Speaker 26: effect the next game, right. You know, this is a
- 50:38Speaker 26: hard to get wins on the road, and I've been
- 50:39Speaker 26: pleased with what we've done on the road. I've had
- 50:42Speaker 26: an the sec play, but you've got to protect home court, yep.
- 50:45Speaker 26: And we got two really big games coming up here
- 50:47Speaker 26: at home. We've got to learn from things we could
- 50:48Speaker 26: have done better here and carry it over to the
- 50:51Speaker 26: next game.
- 50:52Speaker 22: Talk to me about Zach Clemons. He's not the same
- 50:55Speaker 22: player who started this year, Bucky, not even close.
- 50:57Speaker 26: He was great, and he played fearless, and he aggressive,
- 51:01Speaker 26: and I mean he was athletic. He's powerful. It's a
- 51:05Speaker 26: matchup nightmare right now for the teams because he can
- 51:07Speaker 26: shoot it and he can drive.
- 51:08Speaker 9: It, he can post up.
- 51:10Speaker 11: Yeah, so free throws.
- 51:11Speaker 26: Makes free throws. So he's playing really good. I mean,
- 51:14Speaker 26: he certainly looked like he belonged out there, that more
- 51:17Speaker 26: than belonged to that game.
- 51:18Speaker 27: Yeah.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and you need it.
- 51:20Speaker 22: And that was part p And and Diba Cary gave
- 51:23Speaker 22: you a good second half. But those guys back to
- 51:26Speaker 22: that fearlessness and when you got it to four, they
- 51:29Speaker 22: seem to be involved in all of it.
- 51:31Speaker 26: They did for you, they did we got right back there.
- 51:34Speaker 26: You know, the stats are not too one sided if
- 51:37Speaker 26: you look at it. They've made thirty three shots, we
- 51:39Speaker 26: made thirty. We had eighteen assists, they had eighteen assists.
- 51:41Speaker 26: But the difference was we had sixteen turnovers to their nine.
- 51:45Speaker 26: Right and that's that's you can't do that. And then
- 51:47Speaker 26: they h made more free throws and that more offensive rebounds, so.
- 51:51Speaker 1: They get that.
- 51:52Speaker 27: You know, the four we had fourteen turnovers I think
- 51:55Speaker 27: at halftime. Now it only had three in the second half.
- 51:57Speaker 27: But like you said, we could have matched their defense
- 51:59Speaker 27: in the first step offense of the second half. You know,
- 52:02Speaker 27: it's one of those kind of deals.
- 52:03Speaker 26: Yeah, well, it's uh, not too many teams. I don't
- 52:07Speaker 26: think any set C team an SEC team won in
- 52:09Speaker 26: here this year. I don't know, but Kentucky's the only
- 52:12Speaker 26: Kentucky got one. That's right. I'll watched that game, that's right.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Yeah, so, uh, you know, it.
- 52:17Speaker 26: Is what it is.
- 52:18Speaker 11: Yep.
- 52:19Speaker 26: But I was proud of our guys and they're never
- 52:21Speaker 26: gonna they're never gonna stop fighting and and we're never
- 52:24Speaker 26: gonna stop coaching. We're gonna call timeouts all the way
- 52:25Speaker 26: to the land to play this thing out. I mean,
- 52:27Speaker 26: we're trying to get under single digits, and you know,
- 52:30Speaker 26: anything can happen in those spots.
- 52:31Speaker 27: Yep.
- 52:32Speaker 22: But pretty big one Saturday, pretty big one next Tuesday, both.
- 52:35Speaker 26: At ried Arena, both at Reed. We got to have
- 52:37Speaker 26: everybody there. I mean, you know, we know what time
- 52:38Speaker 26: of year this is, and all these games matter a
- 52:40Speaker 26: great deal. We know that, and we got to play
- 52:43Speaker 26: good basketball, and you particularly got to do our job
- 52:46Speaker 26: at hont absolutely.
- 52:48Speaker 1: All right, that's uh, Bucky. Post game, I got this sense,
- 52:54Speaker 1: you know, I mean, everyone knew this was a really
- 52:59Speaker 1: really hard game against a good team in a really
- 53:03Speaker 1: difficult outing. You know, they're going to play hard, which
- 53:06Speaker 1: they did throughout right. I mean that they're not gonna
- 53:12Speaker 1: stop playing hard. They they cut the lead down to
- 53:19Speaker 1: four at one point, but as I mentioned earlier, Darius
- 53:24Speaker 1: a Cuff turned into Darius a Cuff in the second half,
- 53:28Speaker 1: which he wasn't in the first half. And they've got dudes,
- 53:35Speaker 1: and it is it's difficult. Now they just have to
- 53:39Speaker 1: flush that, which they've been very good at doing. And and
- 53:42Speaker 1: by the ways, four and four on the road, and
- 53:46Speaker 1: that's you know, except for Florida sitting at you know,
- 53:52Speaker 1: you look, Tennessee is four and four on the road.
- 53:58Speaker 1: I think Alabama. Let me let me double check this,
- 54:01Speaker 1: but yeah, Alabama was home last night. I mean, four
- 54:08Speaker 1: and four, you'll take that. You just got to hold
- 54:10Speaker 1: on to home court, and they have a chance to
- 54:13Speaker 1: do that. Against the Longhorns on Saturday afternoon. And then
- 54:20Speaker 1: you've got Kentucky coming to town. And Kentucky is uber
- 54:25Speaker 1: talented like they always are, but they've been inconsistent and
- 54:30Speaker 1: you don't know what you're getting from them, you know,
- 54:33Speaker 1: from moment to moment, you just don't. So they are beatable.
- 54:39Speaker 1: You got play well, but they're beatable at rit Arena.
- 54:43Speaker 1: So should be good crowd, sat, really good crowd Saturday,
- 54:46Speaker 1: really good crowd the following week against Kentucky on Tuesday
- 54:53Speaker 1: night next Tuesday night. By the way, let me mention,
- 54:56Speaker 1: I've got three books sitting here with authors, some of
- 55:01Speaker 1: whom I've had on the show, some of whom I haven't.
- 55:04Speaker 1: So if you're coming down to the Expo Center, we've
- 55:08Speaker 1: got a few people waiting for the doors to open
- 55:11Speaker 1: right now at five. You can get tickets at the door.
- 55:16Speaker 1: You can come in and take one of these books
- 55:18Speaker 1: home if you read it all. Oh my gosh, all
- 55:22Speaker 1: the stars are here. We need a break to close
- 55:26Speaker 1: out the first hour and we will be back with
- 55:31Speaker 1: the Clark Eisenhower Outdoors Edition. I want to send you
- 55:35Speaker 1: over to Brandon and Chuck Morrow at Brasis Valley Flooring
