- 0:00Speaker 1: And now Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 2: What's up, everybody.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Welcome to Move the Sticks, DJ Bucky and I'm very happy, smiling.
- 0:13Speaker 4: Couldn't wait to get on the show r At Lewis today.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I mean a little.
- 0:24Speaker 4: Anymore.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Well, there should be a special delivery arriving. I switch.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I'll switch on the whole episode next week.
- 0:34Speaker 3: And by the way, I'm just gonna see something because
- 0:37Speaker 3: we're gonna let Rhett Uh celebrate Indiana and we'll talk
- 0:40Speaker 3: about that game and and how coach Signetti's got them rocking.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Buck I had. I was like, man, I got up
- 0:46Speaker 4: this morning, have.
- 0:47Speaker 3: My breakfast and I just prayed, Lord give me something
- 0:49Speaker 3: from app State that I have to fight fire with fire.
- 0:53Speaker 3: And I went through the and we'll get to the game.
- 0:55Speaker 3: But I went to the b Jon Robinson explosive runs.
- 0:57Speaker 3: I'm my gosh, dang, this center from from the Falcons
- 1:00Speaker 3: is killing people and I'm like, looked it up. Oh,
- 1:02Speaker 3: app State guy, app State got twenty. So I'm gonna
- 1:05Speaker 3: have to fight fire with fire once we get to that,
- 1:07Speaker 3: to that portion of it. But right, did you get
- 1:09Speaker 3: a chance because you're doing a game, did you get
- 1:10Speaker 3: a chance to even watch that one.
- 1:12Speaker 5: Yeah, I was coming back from the game. Was I
- 1:17Speaker 5: at Michigan State UCLA game and we got to start
- 1:21Speaker 5: talking to Nico again after these last couple of weeks.
- 1:23Speaker 5: But we'll get we'll get there. Yeah, it's just so
- 1:26Speaker 5: I listened to the first hour in the car and
- 1:28Speaker 5: the way to Detroit to fly out, and then our
- 1:30Speaker 5: flight got delayed by two hours, so I actually just
- 1:33Speaker 5: sat in the in the airport was able to watch
- 1:35Speaker 5: the whole rest of the game, which.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Was which was excellent.
- 1:38Speaker 5: So it was it was super cool, and you know
- 1:41Speaker 5: it's people have asked me, you know, all the time
- 1:44Speaker 5: since that night, like how's it feel? I was like,
- 1:48Speaker 5: I don't know, how do you describe something we've never
- 1:50Speaker 5: felt before?
- 1:51Speaker 1: I don't know in the country.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I know, man, But I think it was a
- 1:56Speaker 5: Bucky and I were talking a little bit before you
- 1:58Speaker 5: popped on. It was a coach clinic from SIGNETI and
- 2:01Speaker 5: as coordinators, and Dan.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Lanning said as much. I thought. By the way that
- 2:05Speaker 1: was it was teach tape.
- 2:06Speaker 5: The way that Dan Lanning handled that postgame press conference afterwards,
- 2:09Speaker 5: I mean he laid it out. He was like they
- 2:11Speaker 5: have more hats at the point of attack on defense,
- 2:13Speaker 5: quarterback couldn't deal with the pressure, you know. Offensively, they
- 2:17Speaker 5: ran the ball down our throats when they had to.
- 2:19Speaker 5: I mean like he was kind of going down the
- 2:21Speaker 5: whole thing. And for that guy, who I consider, you know,
- 2:25Speaker 5: the best coach in college football, among the best coaches
- 2:29Speaker 5: in college footballs put it that way today. For him
- 2:32Speaker 5: to come out and say that, I think, to me,
- 2:33Speaker 5: spoke volumes about what Siga's done at IU. The coordinator
- 2:38Speaker 5: consistency that they have and their player evaluation model is
- 2:42Speaker 5: incredible because they get the most out of everybody that's
- 2:45Speaker 5: out there.
- 2:46Speaker 6: You know, DJ before we came on right now, we're
- 2:48Speaker 6: talking about like Signetti and like fifteen to seventeen transfers
- 2:52Speaker 6: came in, and how Signetti is all about production over projection.
- 2:56Speaker 6: And I was telling him in some scouting circles that
- 2:59Speaker 6: is the way that you go up about it, like
- 3:00Speaker 6: you want to see the production, the production over time
- 3:04Speaker 6: multiple years. And those guys are the ones that tendn't
- 3:06Speaker 6: to play well no matter what level they're at, Like
- 3:09Speaker 6: they were super productive in high school, college, They're going
- 3:11Speaker 6: to be productive in the pros and it's so interesting
- 3:15Speaker 6: where we end this. I would say this crossroads where
- 3:18Speaker 6: NFL football meets college football at the collegiate level, where
- 3:21Speaker 6: you're having these scouting philosophies and those things. And it's
- 3:25Speaker 6: just interesting that Signetti has been able to scale up.
- 3:28Speaker 6: He's followed that philosophy. The philosophy has been successful for
- 3:31Speaker 6: him at every stop along the way. And I just
- 3:34Speaker 6: wonder how many others operate with a similar mindset when
- 3:37Speaker 6: it comes to.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Production over product projection.
- 3:40Speaker 3: I want to ask you guys, because I got a
- 3:42Speaker 3: chance to see a little bit of this game. I'm
- 3:44Speaker 3: actually getting my drive later this week, so I'm actually
- 3:47Speaker 3: starting the draft stuff a little bit earlier this year,
- 3:49Speaker 3: so I'm excited about that. But I was going through
- 3:52Speaker 3: a bunch of the NFL games and uh, and the
- 3:54Speaker 3: last one that I went through was the Seattle game. Uh,
- 3:57Speaker 3: your game, Buck Seattle Jacksonville. I was regoing rewatching that
- 4:01Speaker 3: this morning, watching their defense, and I had I wrote
- 4:04Speaker 3: a little note down and I feel like I've seen
- 4:07Speaker 3: this with a lot of the good defenses, and I'm curious,
- 4:09Speaker 3: what if you would say this is how Indiana's been
- 4:12Speaker 3: playing or doing what they're doing, because I just wrote down, Man,
- 4:15Speaker 3: these good defenses, I wrote, the littles tackle and the
- 4:18Speaker 3: bigs run. Like when you see you see the big
- 4:21Speaker 3: guys sprinting down the field making tackles, when you see
- 4:25Speaker 3: them getting out to the perimeter on all these screens
- 4:27Speaker 3: and things and and and just playing with the motor
- 4:29Speaker 3: and effort and just running. You see the big guys running,
- 4:32Speaker 3: and then you see the corners sticking their face in
- 4:34Speaker 3: the fan and being physical and making tackles. I'm like,
- 4:37Speaker 3: when you got your little guys playing big and your
- 4:39Speaker 3: big guys can play little, that's a that's a good
- 4:41Speaker 3: combination to have.
- 4:42Speaker 4: Man, I'm just curious on Indiana what they're doing defensively.
- 4:44Speaker 4: What is it?
- 4:46Speaker 5: So one, it's it's havoc right, and that is that's
- 4:49Speaker 5: the biggest thing, so like for them, the angles that
- 4:52Speaker 5: they create with the freedom that their defensive linemen have
- 4:56Speaker 5: to get up the field, and then the way the
- 5:00Speaker 5: awareness and IQ of the second level players to make
- 5:03Speaker 5: them right is the biggest thing that.
- 5:06Speaker 1: They have going right now.
- 5:07Speaker 5: They are also I would say I haven't done the
- 5:08Speaker 5: metrics on this, but I would go back and look,
- 5:11Speaker 5: they are using three linebackers, probably more than almost anybody in.
- 5:17Speaker 2: The lost art.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Now it is a lost art. Everyone's four to two five. Now,
- 5:21Speaker 1: like some guys are gonna good you know, three three, Yeah, sure,
- 5:25Speaker 1: but they are.
- 5:25Speaker 5: They'll go four down with the three backers, and it's
- 5:28Speaker 5: their best personnel grouping. It's their best personnel period, right,
- 5:32Speaker 5: So find your ways to get your best players on
- 5:34Speaker 5: the field. And Brian Haynes is I'm telling you he's
- 5:36Speaker 5: the best defensive coordinator.
- 5:37Speaker 1: In the country right now.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Is it a real linebacker though, because like the three
- 5:40Speaker 4: three five, usually.
- 5:41Speaker 5: A real backer that's down in there, real backer like
- 5:44Speaker 5: six two, two hundred and thirty five pounds, two hundred
- 5:46Speaker 5: thirty pound dudes that are that are in there. And well,
- 5:48Speaker 5: one of them is an all Big ten player, like
- 5:50Speaker 5: he's you know, middle backer, is really really good, really
- 5:52Speaker 5: really instinctive and has been in that system for five years.
- 5:55Speaker 5: So that certainly helps to the other two guys are
- 5:57Speaker 5: young dudes that have just continued.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I mean, like the trend line is way out.
- 6:02Speaker 5: There, so I honestly, I think that's that's a big
- 6:05Speaker 5: piece of it.
- 6:07Speaker 6: So good you know, read this fun You talked about
- 6:10Speaker 6: them having like three linebackers on the field. But so
- 6:13Speaker 6: many people talk about get your best eleven on the
- 6:16Speaker 6: field and then let the personnel dictate what you do
- 6:18Speaker 6: from a sneumatic standpoint, and it sounds like Indiana, that's
- 6:21Speaker 6: exactly what's happening.
- 6:24Speaker 2: And then at a time where no one operates like that.
- 6:26Speaker 6: The last team that I can remember operating like that
- 6:28Speaker 6: extensively was like Michigan State when Nardoozie was there and
- 6:32Speaker 6: they were playing the old base four three cover flour linebackers. Yeah,
- 6:38Speaker 6: I mean that that's the last team that I can
- 6:40Speaker 6: think of operating like that at a full time till
- 6:44Speaker 6: and give them credit man Zig when everyone else is ag.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Yeah, that was going back to the old USC like
- 6:49Speaker 3: Pete Carroll and Cushing and Matthews. I had all three
- 6:54Speaker 3: of those big linebackers out there.
- 6:56Speaker 5: The other thing, though, that's important to note here again
- 6:59Speaker 5: going back to the the evaluation is I mean, somebody
- 7:01Speaker 5: had it out on social media, you know the talent right,
- 7:06Speaker 5: Organ's like top five in the country in talent by
- 7:10Speaker 5: ratings and all of those metrics.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Indiana was like seventy fifth.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Yeah, it's just like, what is your evaluation of the player,
- 7:18Speaker 5: Like Keim, this dude went right now, look, could Indiana
- 7:20Speaker 5: I've gotten those players at order get probably not right.
- 7:23Speaker 5: So I mean it's not like they were trying to,
- 7:25Speaker 5: you know, they couldn't. They decided to go with the
- 7:27Speaker 5: three star instead. But they make the most of who
- 7:31Speaker 5: they have, I think better than anybody.
- 7:32Speaker 1: In the country.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I was talking to someone who was working at a
- 7:35Speaker 3: blue blood This is Kay, maybe a month ago, and
- 7:39Speaker 3: he was telling me a story about the challenges of recruiting.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Like everybody thinks about the advantages of recruiting in a
- 7:43Speaker 3: blue blood, he was telling me the challenges of recruiting
- 7:46Speaker 3: in a blue blood.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Because he said, I'll give you an example.
- 7:48Speaker 3: He said, we had a five star kid committed, we loved,
- 7:51Speaker 3: was a great player, and then at the last second,
- 7:54Speaker 3: the five star goes somewhere else. So our fan base
- 7:58Speaker 3: is freaking out. Well, we think the next best player
- 8:01Speaker 3: is player B, who's a three star kid. But there's
- 8:05Speaker 3: another five star kid that likes us, that's gonna get
- 8:09Speaker 3: the fans off our tail and it's going to be like, oh,
- 8:11Speaker 3: you're doing a great job all this kind of stuff.
- 8:13Speaker 3: So we end up taking a five star that we
- 8:14Speaker 3: didn't even have evaluated higher than the three Star and
- 8:17Speaker 3: that well, that guy's no, the's no longer there. That
- 8:20Speaker 3: whole regime at that blue Blood is gone. But he
- 8:22Speaker 3: was saying, like, that's one of the things I don't
- 8:24Speaker 3: think people think about of you're trying to win. It's
- 8:27Speaker 3: like trying to win the press conference. You know, he said,
- 8:29Speaker 3: we're going to hire the coach who's going to win
- 8:30Speaker 3: the press Come, just hire the best coach, Like, don't
- 8:32Speaker 3: forget about the press conference.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Exactly exactly.
- 8:39Speaker 6: But there's a lot of pressure when it comes to that,
- 8:41Speaker 6: right because so many people are really dialed into the
- 8:43Speaker 6: recruiting stuff and everyone wants to be able to win
- 8:46Speaker 6: on signing day. You want to see that you have
- 8:48Speaker 6: a top twenty five class, top fifteen, and people want
- 8:50Speaker 6: to say that you stop.
- 8:52Speaker 4: You know, you're stacking big class.
- 8:54Speaker 3: It's still the norm, though, Buck, Like, like we're talking
- 8:57Speaker 3: Indiana's the exception. The norm is the teams that in
- 9:00Speaker 3: the National Champion every are usually one of the top
- 9:02Speaker 3: five most talented teams.
- 9:04Speaker 6: Yeah, so it kind of it's tough. It defies, it
- 9:08Speaker 6: defies everything.
- 9:10Speaker 5: Might give you the old don't cry for me Argentina
- 9:13Speaker 5: right there on the Blue Blood. The challenges of recruiting
- 9:15Speaker 5: a blue blood.
- 9:15Speaker 3: But when the guy's no longer there, he's gonna interviewed
- 9:19Speaker 3: as a challenge for sure. But it's interesting and they
- 9:23Speaker 3: found because like I, we look at baseball, you know,
- 9:26Speaker 3: and that's why you can have a team the behemoths
- 9:28Speaker 3: with the huge payroll, the Dodgers that can probably win
- 9:31Speaker 3: the World Series, but you have the Brewers who have
- 9:33Speaker 3: no money. Because you're trying to find money.
- 9:36Speaker 1: It must spend it for money.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Spend the money, you spend the money.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Fuck fuck they don't give me on.
- 9:45Speaker 3: A baseball The Dodgers TV deal brings in over three
- 9:49Speaker 3: hundred million dollars a year. The Padres don't even have
- 9:53Speaker 3: a TV deal. I bet you the Brewers aren't making
- 9:55Speaker 3: fifty million off of that.
- 9:57Speaker 4: So no.
- 9:57Speaker 3: But what I'm saying is they've found, like in Indiana,
- 10:00Speaker 3: who doesn't have the ability to go grab all these premier,
- 10:03Speaker 3: premier players paying top dollar in terms of the recruits
- 10:06Speaker 3: side of things, They found an inefficiency in the market.
- 10:09Speaker 3: They ah, these players are undervalued. They're really really good
- 10:11Speaker 3: football players, but they're undervalued. So we can win with that.
- 10:14Speaker 3: So it's just figuring out a way to make it work.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Who do they have this week? By the way, what
- 10:17Speaker 3: what does Indiana have left on the schedule.
- 10:19Speaker 5: It's so we got home consecutive home games against Michigan State,
- 10:23Speaker 5: who's down bad right now, at U c l A,
- 10:25Speaker 5: who is trending up. So that'll be an interesting game.
- 10:28Speaker 5: And then the last like real test is at Penn State.
- 10:35Speaker 5: And look, say what you want about where they're at.
- 10:37Speaker 5: They're still really talented. And I know Alur's out, but
- 10:40Speaker 5: the kid Grumpmeyer is actually he's an athlete and he
- 10:44Speaker 5: could run. And I mean, I think they'll get a
- 10:47Speaker 5: boost initially, as they always do. If that offensive line
- 10:51Speaker 5: those starts playing to their capabilities, it'll be, It'll be,
- 10:54Speaker 5: it'll be. It'll still be a really tough test.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Go and transfer and opt out they got.
- 11:01Speaker 1: You're playing a JB.
- 11:02Speaker 2: You're playing a JVT byby pulling people out in the stands.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Maybe like long dream, it'd be like.
- 11:07Speaker 1: A did a sudden that on his draft resume? Want
- 11:11Speaker 1: that on his draft resume? I don't know, dude.
- 11:14Speaker 3: All I know is all I know is if you'd
- 11:16Speaker 3: have told little little ten year old me, Keith Smart
- 11:21Speaker 3: hit that jumper that I used football team might win
- 11:24Speaker 3: a national championship before their basketball team went another one.
- 11:26Speaker 4: I don't know that I would.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Have got yeah a long time ago.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been a minute, all right, congrats Rat, good
- 11:34Speaker 3: lucky he was the rest of the way. Let's get
- 11:35Speaker 3: to the Monday Niners double double header last night, uh buck,
- 11:38Speaker 3: Let's start with the quarterback matchup. Everybody was going to
- 11:41Speaker 3: be talking about our buddy. Ryan Rascilla had a great
- 11:43Speaker 3: tweet after the game, the ultimate troll tweet. He's like, well,
- 11:46Speaker 3: now that's been decided, you know, between Daniels Caleb Williams.
- 11:52Speaker 3: But hey, they got to turn over they needed late.
- 11:55Speaker 3: The Bears after you know, settling for a lot of
- 11:57Speaker 3: field goals. Jake Moody came through at the end, they
- 12:00Speaker 3: got down the field. Deandres s Fifth had a heck
- 12:02Speaker 3: of a game. But the Bears go on the road.
- 12:04Speaker 3: They got a big win.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Man. They're three and two right now.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Yeah, big win.
- 12:08Speaker 6: Look, man, I think anytime you have an opportunity to
- 12:10Speaker 6: see young guys square up, in particularly the quarterbacks, they
- 12:13Speaker 6: give us opportunity to revisit those reports, the good, the bad,
- 12:16Speaker 6: and the ugly and all those things that are in.
- 12:17Speaker 4: Those But I thought it was really solid in.
- 12:20Speaker 6: Terms of Kayleb Williams being the number one, seeing them
- 12:22Speaker 6: play with controls, seeing them play in front of the
- 12:24Speaker 6: home fans, meaning where he grew up in the DMV,
- 12:27Speaker 6: seeing him stand out and having to make plays and
- 12:30Speaker 6: lead drives and do those things.
- 12:32Speaker 2: It was just a solid overall effort.
- 12:34Speaker 6: And I think from the first time that we saw
- 12:36Speaker 6: him in Ben Johnson's offense, going all the way back
- 12:38Speaker 6: to the preseason to where he is now, I think
- 12:40Speaker 6: he has made some strides and he's on track to
- 12:44Speaker 6: be a four thousand yard passer, and the Bears aren't
- 12:46Speaker 6: used to having four thousand yard passers. So I would
- 12:49Speaker 6: say things are trending up for the Bears and for
- 12:51Speaker 6: the Commanders. I think Jaydon Daniels continues to be what
- 12:54Speaker 6: he's always been. I think he can dial it up
- 12:56Speaker 6: a few different ways. If you're both franchises, you're probably
- 12:59Speaker 6: very please with your QB one that you have entrance
- 13:02Speaker 6: for a long time.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Yeah, So in terms of quarterbacks, I just thought this
- 13:07Speaker 1: was interesting.
- 13:08Speaker 5: I was actually looking this up when I was kind
- 13:11Speaker 5: of digging in on our coordinator of the week, which
- 13:13Speaker 5: we'll get to here in just a little bit. But
- 13:14Speaker 5: I was looking at you know, who's holding on to
- 13:16Speaker 5: the ball alongest right now in the league. Caleb's still
- 13:20Speaker 5: way up there. He's still at over you know, almost
- 13:23Speaker 5: three point two second.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Now do you like that stat?
- 13:25Speaker 4: I hate that.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I don't know of it.
- 13:28Speaker 4: But here's my question.
- 13:29Speaker 3: If you're on time, if you have twenty five throws
- 13:32Speaker 3: and you're on time for twenty four of them and
- 13:35Speaker 3: the twenty fifth it's third and twenty one, and they
- 13:37Speaker 3: rush three guys and you scramble around for ten seconds.
- 13:41Speaker 4: It like I hate that that. That's been used a lot.
- 13:45Speaker 5: It has been used a lot, But I would say
- 13:46Speaker 5: one way in which it does illustrate some issues is,
- 13:51Speaker 5: you know, the only guy who's held it longer is
- 13:52Speaker 5: justin Fields, And I think that is probably a more
- 13:55Speaker 5: accurate description of like what's going on there than it
- 13:59Speaker 5: is necessarily with ALM, because you could see it like
- 14:03Speaker 5: Field is just like he's hanging on to it. Like
- 14:05Speaker 5: that's one where you can predict, man who's gonna be
- 14:07Speaker 5: up there at the top.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Field's gonna be up there at the top.
- 14:09Speaker 5: Anyway, Besides the point, I was kind of curious because
- 14:13Speaker 5: you know, I keep dominating in the in the rookie
- 14:15Speaker 5: draft with Tyler Warren, and so I was like, why
- 14:18Speaker 5: can't I get my guys, you know, just another option,
- 14:21Speaker 5: Why can't I get Colston Lovelin going here. I don't
- 14:24Speaker 5: know that it's necessarily a negative at this point, but
- 14:26Speaker 5: I did think it was interesting. I went back and
- 14:28Speaker 5: watched all his reps in the in the past game here.
- 14:31Speaker 5: I mean there's there's maybe like two or three where
- 14:34Speaker 5: he is even in the field of vision, and I
- 14:39Speaker 5: just don't know if that is a trust factor, if
- 14:42Speaker 5: that is a game plan factor, if that is a
- 14:45Speaker 5: you know, just not there yet sort of situation. But
- 14:48Speaker 5: there are times where he is open, and it's just
- 14:50Speaker 5: is not a part of the either the progression the field,
- 14:53Speaker 5: Like it just wasn't the read. There's a bunch of different,
- 14:57Speaker 5: bunch of different, you know, pieces to this thing, and
- 15:00Speaker 5: you know, maybe you'll come on here at some point.
- 15:02Speaker 5: But I also think it has to do with, you know,
- 15:03Speaker 5: Roman Duns is really dang good. DJ Moores are you know,
- 15:06Speaker 5: really dang good, and so you know, they've got options.
- 15:10Speaker 5: It's not like they're really struggling and they're just choosing
- 15:12Speaker 5: not to use him. But I did think that was
- 15:14Speaker 5: kind of interesting from a rookie standpoint. We just haven't
- 15:17Speaker 5: seen that to whereas the Colts are scheming it up
- 15:20Speaker 5: for Tyler. Warren left it right, you know, so I
- 15:22Speaker 5: thought that was kind of intriguing.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Can I can I defend defend Caleb on that one thing?
- 15:26Speaker 4: Just real quick.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Yeah, he's taken ten sacks this year, Justin Fields took
- 15:31Speaker 3: nine on Sunday, So I would not put him in
- 15:34Speaker 3: the same category.
- 15:35Speaker 1: And I'm saying that's what I'm saying, what he's.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Doing, that's what.
- 15:38Speaker 1: No, I'm not I'm not calling Caleb out on that.
- 15:40Speaker 5: I'm just saying, like, I just thought it was kind
- 15:42Speaker 5: of interesting that he's having more success this year and
- 15:44Speaker 5: it's kind of similar to the numbers.
- 15:45Speaker 4: That it was.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I just think we got to find like there's some
- 15:48Speaker 3: some of these numbers where I'm like, that's useful, like
- 15:50Speaker 3: that that's a useful number. But to me, it's got
- 15:52Speaker 3: to be married up properly with how like what's his
- 15:55Speaker 3: on time throw percentage, you know, based off of the
- 15:58Speaker 3: rush and the route like and having you know, look
- 16:00Speaker 3: at that and then be okay, yeah, that's you get
- 16:02Speaker 3: an outlier here versus you know, in a certain situation
- 16:05Speaker 3: that can skew the numbers, so to speak. But I
- 16:09Speaker 3: do think he's doing a better job, and I think
- 16:11Speaker 3: they've done a better job of baking it in. In
- 16:13Speaker 3: other words, there are a lot of creative screens and
- 16:16Speaker 3: he's gotten better. He's gotten better at that. There's different
- 16:19Speaker 3: types of screens when you're thinking about like kind of
- 16:21Speaker 3: the up and down screen.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Where you talk about it's almost like you're just trying
- 16:25Speaker 4: to get out of the jar.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Yeah, a little fade away, get the cookie out of
- 16:28Speaker 3: the cookie jar. And then there's also some of these
- 16:31Speaker 3: quick inside screens where it's just real quick, you get
- 16:33Speaker 3: the tight end and it's just a nice, quick, firm
- 16:36Speaker 3: ball and it's you know, on him, so we can go.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Caleb's gotten a lot better. That was not a great
- 16:40Speaker 3: strength of his. He's gotten a lot better at that stuff.
- 16:43Speaker 3: And Ben Johnson continues to roll those out and they
- 16:45Speaker 3: got some of their bigger pass plays on quick hitters
- 16:47Speaker 3: like that where they got some run after catch. He's
- 16:49Speaker 3: still missing, you know, missfiring on a couple intermediate throws
- 16:53Speaker 3: where I almost feel like it's he's overthrowing, like he's
- 16:55Speaker 3: just trying to gass it up, just take a little off,
- 16:59Speaker 3: you know, and then a terrible out of a terrible
- 17:01Speaker 3: offensive PI call that cost him a touchdown. But he's playing.
- 17:04Speaker 3: He's playing pretty efficiently. That game was about protecting the
- 17:07Speaker 3: football buck and you know, Jay and Daniels, I thought
- 17:10Speaker 3: was probably a little more pinpoint with how he threw
- 17:12Speaker 3: the football, but you had the turnovers and that was
- 17:13Speaker 3: the whole game.
- 17:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:15Speaker 6: Look, it comes down to us a bigger deciding factor
- 17:18Speaker 6: in ball. You turn it over, you lose games. And
- 17:21Speaker 6: in looking at both of the quarterbacks, you're right in
- 17:23Speaker 6: terms of being dialed in. Jaye Dames is so doubted
- 17:26Speaker 6: in terms of where the ball comes out, the placement,
- 17:28Speaker 6: the way he consistently hissed the strike zone.
- 17:30Speaker 2: So I'm really impressed with those guys.
- 17:32Speaker 6: And it's unfortunate that Drake May didn't play on Monday
- 17:35Speaker 6: night so we could have the big discussion that everyone
- 17:38Speaker 6: wants to have because people are talking about him and
- 17:41Speaker 6: his greatness, his ex first placed by the way. I mean,
- 17:45Speaker 6: there's a lot of stuff at a time where we
- 17:48Speaker 6: talk about the league having a quarterback problem. It doesn't
- 17:51Speaker 6: seem like that class had a lot of problems when
- 17:54Speaker 6: it comes to finding Prinstance's quarterback because you go those
- 17:57Speaker 6: three bow knicks.
- 17:58Speaker 4: I mean.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Time, we'll get to that.
- 18:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean that class looks like that class was
- 18:08Speaker 6: supposed to look given where they were drafted.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Uh no, it was Uh, it was good to see
- 18:14Speaker 3: both those guys. They're gonna be fine. I think you're
- 18:15Speaker 3: seeing them. You know everything that they can do and
- 18:18Speaker 3: how they can expand your offense. So I'm excited for
- 18:21Speaker 3: for both those teams going forward. Haven't seen Washington person
- 18:24Speaker 3: the week before. I'm not worried about them long term
- 18:27Speaker 3: at all.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Let's get to that other game. Rat you mentioned it.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Uh, give me a bajeonjon bajehan.
- 18:39Speaker 4: I gotta say that a million times before I get
- 18:41Speaker 4: it right. Do you remember when we were we were.
- 18:43Speaker 3: All together doing path and uh it was a recap,
- 18:47Speaker 3: it was a path to the draft after the draft,
- 18:49Speaker 3: and then you said the question to me was who
- 18:53Speaker 3: will be who will have a better career? Uh you said, uh,
- 18:57Speaker 3: Gibbs or and before you could say Jean, it might
- 19:00Speaker 3: have been Beijeon at that time. So I immediately said, oh, Jean,
- 19:05Speaker 3: that's not even I love Gibbs, gives a good player
- 19:08Speaker 3: he's a good player, but like to me, and then
- 19:10Speaker 3: after the first year, I was like, oh man, somebody
- 19:12Speaker 3: ever looks up that clip with the way Gibbs was rolling,
- 19:16Speaker 3: I was like, Okay, that could be a bad look
- 19:18Speaker 3: for your guy out there. And then now you look
- 19:20Speaker 3: up and I'm like, Okay, I'm a little comfortable with
- 19:22Speaker 3: Gibbs has been great, But what what what Robinson can
- 19:25Speaker 3: do all the way across the board. He's the best.
- 19:26Speaker 3: He's the best running back in football right now. So unbelievable.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Yeah, go ahead, Buck, because I have one one thought
- 19:34Speaker 1: on it.
- 19:34Speaker 5: I'd be curious that I'd compose a question to you
- 19:36Speaker 5: based on what you guys have seen, But go ahead, Buck.
- 19:38Speaker 6: No, look, I think last night was the showcase of
- 19:41Speaker 6: everything that Jon Robinson offers. You're talking about the eighty
- 19:45Speaker 6: one yard run on the inside zone and it's like
- 19:48Speaker 6: an outside zone, but it's the patience that he displays
- 19:52Speaker 6: kind of weaving through and the cut that he made DJ.
- 19:55Speaker 6: It's one of those that you can't even teach how
- 19:57Speaker 6: to do that patient slip slide and get out and
- 20:01Speaker 6: then get down the paint. And to me, watching the
- 20:04Speaker 6: Falcons kind of get into this pistol offense where they
- 20:07Speaker 6: have a downhill running game and they're using him in
- 20:09Speaker 6: Tyler this year, and Bijon goes for like one hundred
- 20:12Speaker 6: and seventy hundred and eighty yards and he catches the
- 20:14Speaker 6: ball out the backfield and he does everything that a
- 20:18Speaker 6: new School RB one is supposed to do. He is
- 20:21Speaker 6: as advertised, And there's a lot of conversation and consternation
- 20:25Speaker 6: about taking a running back high, but if you're going
- 20:28Speaker 6: to take one, they need to have the super powers
- 20:31Speaker 6: that Robinson has because this dude is literally a two
- 20:35Speaker 6: to three phase playmaker that can do it in so
- 20:37Speaker 6: many different ways.
- 20:39Speaker 5: Okay, so let me ask you guys this, because don't
- 20:41Speaker 5: you feel like and this is what So they drafted
- 20:44Speaker 5: Bijon that was the last year with Arthur.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Smith twenty three man.
- 20:47Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, I felt like, you know, maybe maybe it
- 20:51Speaker 5: did take a minute, but it felt like you would
- 20:53Speaker 5: see those in those explosive plays where he's making those
- 20:57Speaker 5: cuts and you're like, and then he ends the game
- 20:58Speaker 5: with sixty five yards for seventy yards.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Because Tyler Algier was getting freaking carry's with him out there.
- 21:05Speaker 1: And so we're like, why was that so hard?
- 21:08Speaker 5: To figure out, and even last year at times I
- 21:12Speaker 5: feel like there were games where he would just kind
- 21:14Speaker 5: of disappear. But man, I don't think there's any denying.
- 21:18Speaker 5: And now I mean like you're just you're you're in trouble.
- 21:21Speaker 5: I mean he is priority number one, focal point number one,
- 21:24Speaker 5: the whole people. What have you seen differently the each
- 21:26Speaker 5: I know you were watching your up State center dominated.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Yan mull Ryan Uzell was freaking getting after it. Man.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Well, to me, literally it was part about him because
- 21:36Speaker 3: when you have center with range like that and you
- 21:38Speaker 3: want to run some outside zone that that to me
- 21:41Speaker 3: is a huge part of it. You better have a
- 21:42Speaker 3: center that can get on the move and make those
- 21:45Speaker 3: those blocks out in space. He's really really done a
- 21:47Speaker 3: nice job. So they've uh and I think Ledford is
- 21:50Speaker 3: the line coach there, gone right, Yeah, he's gone. He's
- 21:54Speaker 3: at the Bears. So but this kid's been great and
- 21:57Speaker 3: he's been there for a while.
- 21:58Speaker 4: I came.
- 21:58Speaker 3: I think he was in the twenty one class twenty
- 22:00Speaker 3: one something like that, undrafted free agent, but which again
- 22:03Speaker 3: there's a long trend of late round undrafted free agent
- 22:06Speaker 3: centers that have a lot of success in this league
- 22:07Speaker 3: because usually they're a little undersized, maybe short armed, but
- 22:10Speaker 3: they're really really smart, tough and can move. So they've
- 22:14Speaker 3: done a really nice job up front. I was going
- 22:16Speaker 3: back to my Robinson report, and it's kind of it's
- 22:20Speaker 3: nice when you like you said it. Maybe it's taken
- 22:22Speaker 3: a second for it all to come together, but this
- 22:25Speaker 3: is what he was three down back, Excellent sized vision,
- 22:27Speaker 3: burst inside runs, aggressive, depressed the hole before lowerness pads
- 22:31Speaker 3: and exploding through contact. Has a lateral quickness to make
- 22:34Speaker 3: defenders miss and tight quarters on outside runs. He has
- 22:37Speaker 3: the speed to capture the corner. He's very loose and
- 22:39Speaker 3: lusive out in space, passing game, fluid route running out
- 22:42Speaker 3: of the backfield. Boasting excellent hands. He can contort and
- 22:45Speaker 3: adjust to poorly thrown balls. Does need to improve his
- 22:48Speaker 3: recognition and technique and pass pro though he's late to
- 22:50Speaker 3: set up an anchor, will get challenged too often. Overall,
- 22:53Speaker 3: Robinson has all the tools to quickly emerge as a
- 22:55Speaker 3: top tier running back in the NFL. So maybe took
- 22:58Speaker 3: account for it all tom together, but man, that is
- 23:02Speaker 3: a full toolkit, you know, for somebody to be at
- 23:05Speaker 3: that position. I had him as a third ranked player
- 23:08Speaker 3: in that draft. To be a running back up there
- 23:10Speaker 3: like that, you have to justify it, Buck, because we
- 23:13Speaker 3: say it like to justify it, you better be dang good.
- 23:15Speaker 3: You can't be, you know, a good solid player. If
- 23:18Speaker 3: you're going to take a running back up there, he's
- 23:20Speaker 3: got to be different. He got to be different. And
- 23:22Speaker 3: this guy is different.
- 23:24Speaker 6: Yeah, he has to be different. I think he has
- 23:25Speaker 6: to be built. Any running back has to be built
- 23:27Speaker 6: in the mode of Christian McCaffrey and those guys, meaning
- 23:30Speaker 6: you have to be able. I have to be able
- 23:31Speaker 6: to envision you get in a thousand rushing yards and
- 23:34Speaker 6: maybe catching one hundred passes out of the backfield.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Bijon.
- 23:37Speaker 6: I saw the stat like he's the first to do
- 23:39Speaker 6: something for the first five games since Thurman Thomas. Having
- 23:42Speaker 6: played with Thrman Thomas, I remembered the engine that he
- 23:45Speaker 6: was for that Buffalo Bill's offense as a runner and
- 23:47Speaker 6: a receiver. That is a prerequisite now that if you
- 23:50Speaker 6: can be a top ten running back, you have to
- 23:52Speaker 6: be able to bring those things to the table.
- 23:54Speaker 2: And you're right.
- 23:55Speaker 6: I don't know why I took Atlanta so long to
- 23:58Speaker 6: figure out how to unlock him in this offense. But
- 24:02Speaker 6: the offense that I saw last night was physical but
- 24:05Speaker 6: also fun, and it also allowed them to play to
- 24:08Speaker 6: the strems of Michael Pennance.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Can I throw just another? Are are we done on
- 24:13Speaker 1: a genre?
- 24:14Speaker 4: I'm going to get to the bills here in a second,
- 24:16Speaker 4: so go ahead.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:17Speaker 5: So I was, you know, it was kind of watching
- 24:20Speaker 5: that and like, man felt like Josh was holding onto
- 24:24Speaker 5: the ball for a while, and you know, and.
- 24:27Speaker 1: I look at this game and then so I went
- 24:28Speaker 1: back and looked at the pressure the twenty pressures in
- 24:30Speaker 1: this game.
- 24:31Speaker 5: Jama Walker led the team with five James Spearce had
- 24:35Speaker 5: you know, got.
- 24:36Speaker 1: After it a little bit.
- 24:38Speaker 5: I think the one thing that I see with Walker
- 24:40Speaker 5: is and I saw in those pressures is like they
- 24:42Speaker 5: were not immediate right, it was he was fighting his
- 24:45Speaker 5: way through a block or too tight end. You know,
- 24:47Speaker 5: was kind of on that side. He's in that wide
- 24:48Speaker 5: nine alignment almost all the time, and he's still a
- 24:51Speaker 5: little bit like Bowl in the China Shop with the
- 24:53Speaker 5: way he kind of gets after tries to get after
- 24:55Speaker 5: the quarterback where you can kind of see Pierces got
- 24:58Speaker 5: a little bit more, a little bit more nuanced to
- 25:02Speaker 5: the way that he rushes a little bit more fluidity,
- 25:04Speaker 5: but it's kind of fun watching them both come off
- 25:06Speaker 5: opposite edges in some of those those past rushing situations.
- 25:10Speaker 5: His third pressure actually results in one of the interceptions
- 25:12Speaker 5: from Josh Allen and so watching all that kind of
- 25:15Speaker 5: made me wonder, like, was this one of those games
- 25:18Speaker 5: where you felt like the Bills were at a disadvantage
- 25:21Speaker 5: not having an alpha number one?
- 25:23Speaker 3: So that's exactly where I was going. Actually, I'm pulling
- 25:27Speaker 3: some numbers on here because uh alone.
- 25:29Speaker 5: Because he just felt like Josh was hanging on to
- 25:31Speaker 5: it and like just you know, and that's why I
- 25:34Speaker 5: think that's why you ended up with such.
- 25:35Speaker 1: A high pressure number.
- 25:37Speaker 3: So I'm I'm just I'm looking at that game and
- 25:40Speaker 3: I'm looking at it through this prison. Let me write
- 25:42Speaker 3: this down here, Okay, So Buck tell me on this
- 25:47Speaker 3: and then follow up with your take on this. But
- 25:50Speaker 3: coming into the year, we've we've been saying for a
- 25:53Speaker 3: few years now to come out of the AFC, you
- 25:56Speaker 3: need one of these cyborg quarterbacks because of the gauntlet
- 25:59Speaker 3: you're going to have to run. And then I look
- 26:02Speaker 3: at that game and I'm like, man, I know Buffalo
- 26:04Speaker 3: is still averaging twenty seven point eight points. But there's
- 26:07Speaker 3: just not a lot of firepower out there. And Kincaid
- 26:09Speaker 3: not playing I think, you know, hurt him big time
- 26:12Speaker 3: on that. But that didn't look like a high powered,
- 26:15Speaker 3: high flying offense. And I'm like, so, who are the
- 26:17Speaker 3: teams we talked about for the last several years. Baltimore, Buffalo, Cincinnati,
- 26:21Speaker 3: Kansas City, Houston was going to emerge and get up
- 26:24Speaker 3: into that group. And you look up now and I'm like, man,
- 26:27Speaker 3: I don't know that this might be one of those
- 26:30Speaker 3: years where the complete team could come out of the AFC.
- 26:34Speaker 3: It doesn't necessarily have to be the team that can
- 26:37Speaker 3: go in and score that needs to score forty points
- 26:40Speaker 3: to get through some of these guys in the playoffs.
- 26:43Speaker 3: It's a different looking AFC to the point where the NFC,
- 26:47Speaker 3: I'm like, gosh, we talked about the NFC was the
- 26:48Speaker 3: physical conference and the AFC as the quarterbacks and all
- 26:51Speaker 3: the high flying stuff. And I'm like, man, with the
- 26:53Speaker 3: offenses in the NFC, you might have to have more
- 26:55Speaker 3: high powered offense to get through the NFC playoffs, and
- 26:57Speaker 3: you would through the AFC playoffs.
- 27:00Speaker 2: He has such a different thing.
- 27:02Speaker 6: But I read I agree with you and I think
- 27:04Speaker 6: DJ you make great points about the Baltimore Ravens and
- 27:06Speaker 6: some of these other teams that look to invest in
- 27:09Speaker 6: the quarterback, and the quarterback is everything, and he is
- 27:11Speaker 6: supposed to be kind of the magical elixir to makes
- 27:15Speaker 6: the offense go. But you're now seeing that you need
- 27:18Speaker 6: to have personnel on the perimeter, you need to have
- 27:21Speaker 6: difference makers. And the best way for me to say it,
- 27:23Speaker 6: I believe in the passing game, you got to have
- 27:25Speaker 6: one person that can command a double team so that
- 27:27Speaker 6: the rest.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Of the people can eat.
- 27:29Speaker 6: And when I look at Buffalo, there's no one that
- 27:32Speaker 6: you would look at the scouting report and say, hey, guys,
- 27:33Speaker 6: we need to make sure we cloud, we bracket.
- 27:35Speaker 2: We double, we do all these things.
- 27:37Speaker 6: So then there's a void for other people and maybe
- 27:40Speaker 6: until they get that person, they're always going to be
- 27:43Speaker 6: kind of stagnant when it comes to the same thing.
- 27:45Speaker 2: You can say for Kansas City, like everything is so
- 27:48Speaker 2: hard for all these.
- 27:50Speaker 6: Teams because it can't manufacture the big plays and sometimes
- 27:54Speaker 6: you just need a guy that my guy's better than
- 27:56Speaker 6: your guy, so I'm authorit to him and he's gonna
- 27:58Speaker 6: make a big play, and I look like this atic jeems.
- 28:01Speaker 3: I also couldn't help but think though, Rhett, that you know, Josh,
- 28:05Speaker 3: Josh has kind of gotten to the point in his
- 28:06Speaker 3: career now or win in another division, isn't It's not
- 28:09Speaker 3: going to move the needle.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Like they've got to get to a super Bowl. They've
- 28:11Speaker 4: got to do that.
- 28:13Speaker 3: And I feel like there is a little bit of
- 28:15Speaker 3: he carried the ball six times in this game, but
- 28:17Speaker 3: in years past when it's not going great and you're
- 28:19Speaker 3: missing some pieces, this would be a fifteen fourteen, fifteen
- 28:23Speaker 3: carry Superman game for Josh Allen. I'm not going to
- 28:26Speaker 3: say he's pacing himself because I think he always playing
- 28:28Speaker 3: as hard as he can. But it's got to be
- 28:30Speaker 3: somewhere in the back of the mind man like, hey,
- 28:32Speaker 3: if this game is a playoff game, Josh Allen, I
- 28:34Speaker 3: guarantee he's running the ball more than six times in
- 28:37Speaker 3: that type.
- 28:37Speaker 1: I agree with you.
- 28:38Speaker 5: I would also, you know, kind of look at the
- 28:42Speaker 5: some of the personnel construction there with Buffalo and say, like,
- 28:45Speaker 5: I don't know that they necessarily.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Were like, oh, we're good without an alpha dude.
- 28:48Speaker 5: I would imagine that that's why they drafted Keyon Coleman
- 28:52Speaker 5: you know, to become that guy eventually, and it just
- 28:56Speaker 5: hasn't really happened yet.
- 28:58Speaker 1: So you know, I think I think there's an understanding
- 29:02Speaker 1: there of what they what they need to win.
- 29:04Speaker 4: Now.
- 29:04Speaker 5: I think they've done a really good job at you know,
- 29:06Speaker 5: being one of the best teams in the AFC and
- 29:08Speaker 5: in the league without that dominant player, because.
- 29:10Speaker 1: James Cook was going off and he was fine in
- 29:14Speaker 1: this game.
- 29:14Speaker 5: I mean, they just didn't give them the ball, you know,
- 29:16Speaker 5: a ton he ended up What seventeen carries are still
- 29:19Speaker 5: a fair amount, you know in today's league. But on
- 29:21Speaker 5: the other side, you got Bijon going for one to
- 29:23Speaker 5: seventy on nineteen.
- 29:25Speaker 4: That's a Buffalo defense problem, or not exactly.
- 29:28Speaker 1: There's there's a big piece of that.
- 29:29Speaker 5: It's a complimentary game and then you know you get
- 29:31Speaker 5: the two turnovers and then a somewhat you know, limited
- 29:34Speaker 5: possession game you know in the second half, Like that's.
- 29:38Speaker 1: That's an issue.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Yeah, because the Chiefs have dominated this conference for a
- 29:41Speaker 3: decade without a mean, I mean, Kelsey's a legit one,
- 29:44Speaker 3: but they don't have They have not done it with
- 29:46Speaker 3: a one on the outside. So yeah, the reason they've
- 29:49Speaker 3: been able to do that because the defense has been
- 29:51Speaker 3: sitting picked up. Yeah, and that Buffalo did not play
- 29:54Speaker 3: well defensively in that game. So anyways, by the way,
- 29:56Speaker 3: thumbs up or thumbs down on the double double headers
- 29:59Speaker 3: on Monday nights, I don't like it.
- 30:02Speaker 4: A lot to take in.
- 30:03Speaker 1: It's a lot to take in. Yeah, my kids loved it.
- 30:06Speaker 5: They were going back and forth with it, and they,
- 30:09Speaker 5: you know, an earlier one, so actually able to see
- 30:10Speaker 5: the completion of the first one.
- 30:11Speaker 4: I got to get a bigger TV because I'm doing
- 30:14Speaker 4: like the u TV the two box.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's hard to see. I need the bigger TV
- 30:19Speaker 3: to be able to see all that stuff. All right,
- 30:21Speaker 3: let's take a break. We come back, we'll hit a
- 30:22Speaker 3: Coordinator of the Week, and then we'll also have our
- 30:24Speaker 3: rookie recap and rookie draft.
- 30:26Speaker 4: Man bad week for me. We'll get to that right
- 30:29Speaker 4: after this.
- 30:34Speaker 3: All right, before we get to this disaster of a
- 30:36Speaker 3: rookie draft from last week, let's get to our coordinator
- 30:39Speaker 3: of the week. We've been doing this every week high
- 30:40Speaker 3: light and the guy in the coordinator position and role
- 30:43Speaker 3: that's done a really nice job. So you know what,
- 30:46Speaker 3: we like to call this our little hot or not segment,
- 30:48Speaker 3: because it's time for Hot or Not, brought to you
- 30:49Speaker 3: by with Sabbi Hot Cloud Storage, and it's going to
- 30:52Speaker 3: be Seahawks offensive coordinator Clint Kubiak who brings home the title.
- 30:57Speaker 4: This week, they had a nice win. Bucky was there
- 30:59Speaker 4: the twenty.
- 31:00Speaker 3: To twelve JSM eight catches for a bucks sixty two,
- 31:03Speaker 3: Sam Donald two ninety five, two touchdowns, no pick, just
- 31:06Speaker 3: a real efficient, clean game. Sam Donald is first in
- 31:09Speaker 3: EPA per play first and yards per attempt first and
- 31:12Speaker 3: turnover worthy play percentage on the season. JSN as most
- 31:16Speaker 3: receiving yards for six games in Seahawks history, So they
- 31:19Speaker 3: are playing excellent on the offensive side of the ball.
- 31:22Speaker 3: To go back into the Kubiak file, twenty ten, he's
- 31:25Speaker 3: a grad assistant at A and M, where his dad
- 31:27Speaker 3: had played. In twenty twelve, he's the offensive quality control
- 31:31Speaker 3: coach there at A and M before joining the Vikings
- 31:33Speaker 3: in thirteen and fourteen, again a quality control gig. Goes
- 31:36Speaker 3: to the University Kansas, gets a position room as a
- 31:39Speaker 3: receiver coach, then to the Broncos.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Is an offensive.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Assistant sixteen to eighteen, the Vikings quarterback coach nineteen to
- 31:45Speaker 3: twenty before vaulting to be the coordinator there in twenty one,
- 31:49Speaker 3: then back to the Broncos in twenty two, quarterback coach,
- 31:52Speaker 3: passing game coordinator, Niners passing game coordinator in twenty three
- 31:56Speaker 3: with McVeigh offensive coordinator, last year with the Saints before
- 32:00Speaker 3: they you know, that whole thing changed over and then
- 32:03Speaker 3: Uh and then gets the job as the O se
- 32:05Speaker 3: Uh with the Seattle Seahawks.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Buck.
- 32:08Speaker 3: I would just be curious as someone who is around
- 32:10Speaker 3: and UH and playing during the Mike Shanahan era. UH
- 32:13Speaker 3: and obviously his dad, Kerry Kubiak comes right underneath him
- 32:17Speaker 3: as a protege. How how similar does this look to
- 32:19Speaker 3: those offenses and what they were doing back then.
- 32:22Speaker 6: DJ's funny when you see the Shanahans, the descendants of
- 32:24Speaker 6: the Santahan tree, but particularly the Suns Kyle Shanahan and
- 32:28Speaker 6: then Clint Kubiak, it's like.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Watching the same play. You almost can call them, you know,
- 32:33Speaker 2: so like at.
- 32:34Speaker 6: The end of the game, then Kubiak downs up this
- 32:37Speaker 6: bootleg throwback that is a staple Rich.
- 32:40Speaker 2: You know from watching the Houston Texans for years.
- 32:43Speaker 6: They send everybody to one sat on deep post routes
- 32:46Speaker 6: and angles and you'll see the tight end kind of
- 32:48Speaker 6: sneak behind the line and then out the back door
- 32:51Speaker 6: and they hit him down this like these things that
- 32:54Speaker 6: you're like.
- 32:54Speaker 4: That's a staple, that's a QBAC staple.
- 32:57Speaker 2: They're doing it. But what I can tell you that
- 32:58Speaker 2: Clint Kubiak is doing.
- 33:00Speaker 6: Is there's plays and there's players, and he understands how
- 33:04Speaker 6: to make sure that, Hey, I'm gonna get the ball
- 33:05Speaker 6: to my best players, and then there's a time.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Where I'm gonna give you a schematic winner and he
- 33:11Speaker 2: does that really well. JSN.
- 33:13Speaker 6: There was a time DJA every completion that Sam Donald had,
- 33:17Speaker 6: Jackson Smith and Jig it was like, I feel like
- 33:20Speaker 6: I'm playing Madden.
- 33:21Speaker 2: I'm just my guy on the outside has been you.
- 33:23Speaker 2: I'm just gonna throw the ball to him. And they're
- 33:25Speaker 2: doing that.
- 33:25Speaker 6: Then the second half they come out right away Cooper Cup,
- 33:28Speaker 6: Cooper Cup big plays. So look it's too simple, better
- 33:34Speaker 6: with some exotic twist, but they are maximized the talents
- 33:37Speaker 6: of their players while every now and then makes it
- 33:40Speaker 6: in a schematic play that really makes it hard.
- 33:43Speaker 3: For the defense to defend. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's been impressive.
- 33:48Speaker 3: It's been impressed with what he's done there. They don't
- 33:49Speaker 3: even got the run game early cranked up yet, so
- 33:52Speaker 3: I think that's the last little missing piece, right.
- 33:54Speaker 5: It also just helps when your quarterback is just dropping
- 33:57Speaker 5: absolute dimes on big play throws like uh that layer
- 34:00Speaker 5: throw in the JSND Crosser Buck in the second quarter.
- 34:03Speaker 5: The deep shot was on the money as Jayson just
- 34:05Speaker 5: ran Bot. By the way, the old Tyson Campbell for
- 34:08Speaker 5: Greg Newsom trade. It's not there yet for either guy, and.
- 34:12Speaker 4: We we hit on that yesday. Did not go well
- 34:14Speaker 4: for either either member of that as you know, Man.
- 34:18Speaker 5: He had the anticipation throw on the Cooper Cup touchdown
- 34:22Speaker 5: was just just fantastic anticipation. The pace on it was
- 34:26Speaker 5: perfect placement. And then maybe the dagger is that play
- 34:29Speaker 5: action in the fourth quarter where he's got two dudes
- 34:32Speaker 5: in his face. Almost immediately Sam kind of side steps
- 34:36Speaker 5: and then launches the deep bald a j barner. That
- 34:38Speaker 5: kind of seals a.
- 34:38Speaker 4: Little wind back, little wind back round. Yeah, great buck rtt.
- 34:43Speaker 3: I'm remember when we we launched uh trucks and trailers
- 34:47Speaker 3: and we talked about that, so that was that was
- 34:50Speaker 3: kind of a staple of the program. I've got a
- 34:52Speaker 3: new phrase that I've been using, and I want to
- 34:54Speaker 3: I'm hoping it's gonna catch on because and first of all,
- 34:57Speaker 3: Sam Donald has transitioned from a trailer to a truck
- 35:00Speaker 3: with the way that he's played, he's become really really
- 35:02Speaker 3: good player. But this is my next phrase because I
- 35:05Speaker 3: got it when I was watching Sam earlier this year
- 35:07Speaker 3: and I said, you got to trust your eyes and
- 35:10Speaker 3: trust your guys. Like he you trust your eyes to
- 35:13Speaker 3: see the picture of the defense. So I trust where
- 35:16Speaker 3: I know where they're going to be, and then I
- 35:18Speaker 3: trust my guys that they're seeing the same picture and
- 35:21Speaker 3: they're going to be where they need to be. And
- 35:24Speaker 3: when you can trust your eyes and your guys, the
- 35:26Speaker 3: ball comes out on time. That's when you get anticipation,
- 35:29Speaker 3: and that's when you get big plays because there's no
- 35:32Speaker 3: there's no hesitation there. So I want to make this stick,
- 35:34Speaker 3: but I need some other people start adopting it and
- 35:36Speaker 3: using it.
- 35:37Speaker 5: I will for sure make that stick because that perfectly describes,
- 35:40Speaker 5: you know, this year's Heisman Trophy winner, Fernando Mendoza and
- 35:43Speaker 5: one of the favorites for the Blatnikoff and Elijah Surat
- 35:46Speaker 5: like those back shoulders.
- 35:47Speaker 4: And Sam page. Yeah, trust your.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Eyes, trust your guys, and so I'm with you on that.
- 35:52Speaker 4: Love.
- 35:53Speaker 3: So Buck, you just got to weave that in. Get
- 35:54Speaker 3: that woven into the broadcast for the Jags this week. Yeah, okay,
- 35:58Speaker 3: we'll see we can, uh As and I guys see if.
- 36:01Speaker 4: We can make your work to do that. Yeah, see
- 36:04Speaker 4: he needs to improve on that in that in that
- 36:06Speaker 4: area there and get to the Rookie drafts. Hold on.
- 36:10Speaker 3: That was this week's Hot or Not segment, brought to
- 36:11Speaker 3: you by with Sabbi Hot Clouds storage. To store more
- 36:14Speaker 3: and do more with your data, try them for free

- 36:36Speaker 3: that if you have interest in this stuff. All right,
- 36:38Speaker 3: Rookie draft time. Looking back to last week, just a
- 36:41Speaker 3: despicable effort. I mean, Bucky, you got two points, which
- 36:46Speaker 3: normally I would say you got to be better. But
- 36:48Speaker 3: I got one point, which is just an embarrassment to
- 36:51Speaker 3: my friends and my family, and Rhett got nine points.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Rhett had the top top top guys Hee had Gent
- 36:59Speaker 3: was the top scorer of the running backs tm max
- 37:02Speaker 3: top score among the receivers. Tyler Warren again h was
- 37:05Speaker 3: a top among the tight ends. So Jet so reck
- 37:08Speaker 3: it's nine points.
- 37:09Speaker 4: Rhet is now passed me.
- 37:11Speaker 3: He's at twenty seven. I'm at twenty six week he's
- 37:13Speaker 3: at nineteen. But Buck, you just saw based off that,
- 37:16Speaker 3: I mean, one good week and you're in first place.
- 37:18Speaker 4: So I mean, I mean, what a week for this guy?
- 37:21Speaker 4: I mean, just go buy a lottery ticket.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Can I just give you one? One final piece on
- 37:25Speaker 1: that one saw?
- 37:26Speaker 5: I'm sitting at the airport watching the game, right it goes,
- 37:29Speaker 5: We get the Isaiah Jones picks off the last Dante
- 37:32Speaker 5: More pass and it's like, it's clear Indiana's going to win.
- 37:34Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm telling you not.
- 37:36Speaker 5: Ten seconds later, a waiting on the delayed flight, I
- 37:39Speaker 5: get the notification on the phone, Oh you your seat
- 37:41Speaker 5: is now one.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Hey you got what a week?
- 37:45Speaker 2: What a week?
- 37:46Speaker 4: That's a week all right for the boys. Student of
- 37:49Speaker 4: the Month by the way. I mean, it's just.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Two goals with the soccer, first multiple game of his career.
- 37:55Speaker 4: So all right, well, thankfully I get the first pick
- 37:59Speaker 4: I'm taking. You're not having him anymore. I'm sick of that.
- 38:02Speaker 3: I'll go and I'm gonna watch him because I got
- 38:04Speaker 3: the Chargers playing against the Colts.
- 38:06Speaker 4: But I'll go Tyler second pick, who's on back.
- 38:10Speaker 6: I just want to make sure like we have so okay, cool, cool,
- 38:14Speaker 6: that's good. Okay, So I'm gonna go with ston Jens.
- 38:16Speaker 6: I'm gonna take I'm gonna take him. Make sure we
- 38:17Speaker 6: get him off the board.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna go.
- 38:20Speaker 5: I got back to back to your boys, So I'm
- 38:21Speaker 5: gonna go, uh because Buka is probably out right, so
- 38:25Speaker 5: I'm gonna go ted Roa McMillan once again. By the way,
- 38:29Speaker 5: you know who's kind of creeping up in the rookie
- 38:31Speaker 5: receiving category is Matthew Bowling right now.
- 38:34Speaker 3: We talked about him yesterday. His three games of row,
- 38:36Speaker 3: he's had to catch over thirty yards. So he's giving
- 38:38Speaker 3: him a big play every single year.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Not a ton of receptions like volume there, but yeah,
- 38:42Speaker 1: they're making it. He's making them count.
- 38:43Speaker 4: That's for sure.
- 38:44Speaker 5: And then I'm going camps Kataboo, baby, Like, there's just
- 38:48Speaker 5: no way I'm not getting cam van uh in the lineup.
- 38:51Speaker 5: So those are my two.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Okay, so who was the first one?
- 38:54Speaker 5: You do?
- 38:54Speaker 1: You took t Mac and Camp Scataboo.
- 38:56Speaker 4: It's really difficult because there's no tight ends out there.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Really, I mean's fine.
- 39:03Speaker 4: He's fine.
- 39:04Speaker 6: I can't Mason Taylor, he can't get a ball because
- 39:06Speaker 6: the quarterback he cost me, he costs me.
- 39:09Speaker 1: I'm sitting here.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I mean, I guess I'm gonna go with.
- 39:13Speaker 1: Maybe coaching change helps Gunner Helm you know who knows.
- 39:16Speaker 6: Nah, I guess I'm gonna have to go with Fanning
- 39:18Speaker 6: against since I have to have it a tight end,
- 39:20Speaker 6: like come on, Harrold, let's see.
- 39:23Speaker 4: If Yeah, all right, I'm gonna go.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Uh.
- 39:29Speaker 3: I'm gonna say this is a Trevon Henderson week, he's
- 39:33Speaker 3: starting run. I'm gonna take I'm gonna take Henderson. But
- 39:37Speaker 3: I don't I know that they play the Tennessee Titans,
- 39:40Speaker 3: is what I know.
- 39:41Speaker 5: Uh.
- 39:42Speaker 3: And then receiver wise, god, uh, you know Ido Manner
- 39:48Speaker 3: has been targeted a ton just looking at these numbers.
- 39:50Speaker 3: Thirty five targets, but only seven seventeen catches a those
- 39:53Speaker 3: thirty five targets.
- 39:54Speaker 4: Good night.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think I have any choice here. I'm
- 39:59Speaker 3: gonna I'm gonna go with my Green Bay Packer, my
- 40:02Speaker 3: top receiver in the draft last year.
- 40:03Speaker 6: Mad There you go, all right, man to go to
- 40:06Speaker 6: number zero, I guess I'm gonna steap with the home team.
- 40:08Speaker 6: I'm gonna try to go. At some point, Travis has
- 40:10Speaker 6: to pop.
- 40:11Speaker 4: Yeah, you're going back to that well until you freaking
- 40:13Speaker 4: get some water from it. I got I got to
- 40:15Speaker 4: get something, like.
- 40:15Speaker 2: I got to get something from Travis on overseas. Maybe
- 40:17Speaker 2: you can do something for.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Me, Yeah, I mean, like the yards per catch on
- 40:21Speaker 1: this one, Like that's that's the thing that surprises me.
- 40:25Speaker 2: It's off five yard in rows like they haven't been.
- 40:29Speaker 6: When they try and get him down the field, something
- 40:31Speaker 6: and evily happens, like a penalty or something like that
- 40:34Speaker 6: that brings it back.
- 40:36Speaker 5: All right, guys, So since you stole Warren from me,
- 40:39Speaker 5: who is very disappointed about having the changes, We're.
- 40:42Speaker 4: Gonna go with Gadson. Let's go with Gatson, get them
- 40:44Speaker 4: get in the mix.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Come on the fumble. The fumble got me.
- 40:47Speaker 4: It's seven catches last week.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Interesting, we're playing the Colts now, you know, I shoot,
- 40:56Speaker 1: you bullied me into it. Let's do it. Let's have
- 40:58Speaker 1: some fun with Gatson.
- 41:00Speaker 4: His whole family was sitting right in front of us.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Nice because he's the Florida So you had like thirty
- 41:05Speaker 3: people with the gats and jerseys, and like, he catches
- 41:08Speaker 3: the first ball and you see him all come up
- 41:10Speaker 3: and then he fumbled and they all sat right back down.
- 41:12Speaker 3: And then and then he ended up following that up
- 41:15Speaker 3: with a really productive day. And you know, so we'll
- 41:18Speaker 3: see I think Quentin Johnson not playing to create some
- 41:21Speaker 3: more opportunities and targets. But he might have beat out
- 41:23Speaker 3: Tyler Conklin the way he's that's the way he showed
- 41:26Speaker 3: up in that game.
- 41:26Speaker 4: So there we go.
- 41:28Speaker 2: There you have it.
- 41:28Speaker 4: There's a rookie draft.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Buck.
- 41:29Speaker 4: We have got to step our game up. Man.
- 41:31Speaker 3: I'll tell you what, Buck, if you get if you
- 41:33Speaker 3: beat RHTT this week, I'm going to pitch in some
- 41:36Speaker 3: money and buy you a light for your office.
- 41:38Speaker 6: That's what I have.
- 41:39Speaker 2: No, no, no, I have a light, DJ.
- 41:41Speaker 6: But what I'm trying not to do is I'm trying
- 41:43Speaker 6: not to have like the spooky thing. So my office
- 41:45Speaker 6: window is that. So I didn't want the shadow of
- 41:47Speaker 6: that if I put on the big light, but put
- 41:50Speaker 6: on the big light, then it casts it makes my
- 41:52Speaker 6: face dark on the front end. And so to day
- 41:55Speaker 6: is one of the rare day days that it rains
- 41:57Speaker 6: in LA And so sitting in front of a window
- 42:00Speaker 6: isn't playing to the strengths of yeah my studio.
- 42:03Speaker 4: No, I just thought you were playing hide and seek.
- 42:05Speaker 4: I don't know what's going on there, man.
- 42:08Speaker 7: You know, but you can say it with me. Let's
- 42:10Speaker 7: go Dodgers. I mean, if I have some thundersticks. If
- 42:19Speaker 7: I have some thundersticks, we can have some thundersticks. Let's
- 42:22Speaker 7: go Dodger.
- 42:24Speaker 3: I love how they make it hard on themselves. Man,
- 42:26Speaker 3: our guy, Dave Roberts, go ahead and just throw Snell
- 42:28Speaker 3: out there, only to take eight more pitches.
- 42:29Speaker 4: He finished that game up. Nobody was touching him.
- 42:31Speaker 3: One hitter through eight innings, right at like one hundred pitches,
- 42:34Speaker 3: and then he goes to the bullpen and they almost
- 42:36Speaker 3: lost the game for him.
- 42:38Speaker 4: Stinks. I hate them so much, all right, let's uh wrap.
- 42:45Speaker 6: You val used to be such a hater in this way.
- 42:47Speaker 6: If you drive a little love, Dan. If you try
- 42:49Speaker 6: a little love, it may turn for you if you
- 42:51Speaker 6: were just trying to love them.
- 42:53Speaker 3: The fact that Bucky was trying to justify the financial
- 42:56Speaker 3: resources of the Milwaukee Milwaukee Brewers again, Los Angeles Dodge.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Oh my god, you guys disgusting.
- 43:04Speaker 4: What a dumb board. I mean, come on, no, let's
