- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an unspoiled network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes six hundred and thirty one through
- 0:15Speaker 1: six hundred and thirty three. Full of Enthusiasm, The krita
- 0:20Speaker 1: colisseum a dangerous love, the Dancer Girl Violet, a formidable
- 0:26Speaker 1: unknown warrior. Here comes Lucy. In these episodes, I am
- 0:35Speaker 1: very very much enjoying what we've got going so far.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I recognize it's early days. Maybe you know. I've been
- 0:44Speaker 1: warned that this art goes on a while, but as
- 0:48Speaker 1: of right now, I laughed out loud several times in
- 0:51Speaker 1: these episodes. I'm having fun. Welcome to spoil Me, Welcome
- 1:16Speaker 1: to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very
- 1:19Speaker 1: much to Florian for commissioning this episode. Yeah, y'all, these
- 1:26Speaker 1: were so fucking fun. And even though I know that
- 1:31Speaker 1: I have had my irritations with Sanji and his nosebleeds
- 1:35Speaker 1: in the past, and I stand by all of that,
- 1:41Speaker 1: I'm gonna I want to talk about what's going on
- 1:43Speaker 1: with him first, just because it caught my fancy. Now
- 1:48Speaker 1: here's why. Folks who listen to my other podcasts will
- 1:52Speaker 1: probably have heard me mention that I am a devout
- 1:56Speaker 1: listener to the Snapped podcast, which is basically just they
- 2:02Speaker 1: ripped the audio off of Snapped television episodes because it
- 2:06Speaker 1: works really really well as an audio only due to
- 2:11Speaker 1: how much dialogue there is. You really don't need to
- 2:14Speaker 1: be able to see anything for the story to still work.
- 2:18Speaker 1: So they've just made a podcast out of the old episodes.
- 2:21Speaker 1: And there's like something like seventeen seasons of the show,
- 2:24Speaker 1: so there's a lot. And I'm a fan of Snapped
- 2:28Speaker 1: because it's about women who kill instead of a lot
- 2:31Speaker 1: of true crime, which is about men killing women, which
- 2:35Speaker 1: just depresses me. Now still, sometimes the Snapped episodes are
- 2:39Speaker 1: also depressing. Sometimes there's domestic violence involved. Sometimes there is
- 2:45Speaker 1: like you know, abuse of children, and you know, who knows.
- 2:50Speaker 1: But the reason that I'm bringing this up is because
- 2:56Speaker 1: somebody watching this show who you know, doesn't have the
- 3:02Speaker 1: same enjoyment of that type of material might look at
- 3:08Speaker 1: the storyline with Soanjy and the fact that he is
- 3:13Speaker 1: already basically prepared to commit murder for a stranger and
- 3:20Speaker 1: think that doesn't seem real, that that's something that like,
- 3:26Speaker 1: you know, it's just outside the acceptable realms. And to you,
- 3:31Speaker 1: I say, please go listen to snapped episodes. Y'all, women
- 3:38Speaker 1: are out here getting men to do anything as long
- 3:44Speaker 1: as they will fuck them. It is wild the fact
- 3:49Speaker 1: that these dudes are as easy to manipulate as they are.
- 3:53Speaker 1: And a lot of these are guys who have like
- 3:56Speaker 1: jobs in the military and stuff. You would I kind
- 4:00Speaker 1: of think they would feel like they had more to lose.
- 4:03Speaker 1: And the number of dudes, and when I say the number,
- 4:08Speaker 1: I can think off the top of my head head
- 4:10Speaker 1: of at least minimum three different men who committed murder
- 4:17Speaker 1: on behalf of a woman that they were engaged to,
- 4:22Speaker 1: whom they hadn't even met because they were being played
- 4:30Speaker 1: by a woman who was already married wanted her a
- 4:33Speaker 1: man out of the way, and then had set up
- 4:35Speaker 1: a catfish account posing as an ex of this guy's
- 4:40Speaker 1: friend and saying, well, he used to do really terrible
- 4:43Speaker 1: things to me and to my kids, and this guy
- 4:46Speaker 1: being like, you know what, I'm gonna take him out.
- 4:48Speaker 1: And the dudes like you just really play on their
- 4:51Speaker 1: sort of machismo and their desire to like protect the innocent.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And these dudes, I will repeat, these are not women
- 5:01Speaker 1: that they have met. Even so, the Sanji being willing
- 5:07Speaker 1: to throw down for this lady that he just ran
- 5:09Speaker 1: into on the street. Actually is coming from a place
- 5:12Speaker 1: of more information than a lot of people who committed
- 5:18Speaker 1: murder on Snapped. These dudes most Snapped episodes, I would
- 5:24Speaker 1: say the vast majority are women paying or convincing men
- 5:31Speaker 1: to murder on their behalf. Mostly it's not women actually
- 5:34Speaker 1: committing the murder. Occasionally it is, but it's mostly not.
- 5:38Speaker 1: So just there was something about the confluence here of
- 5:44Speaker 1: Sanji and this wild lady who I believe is the
- 5:48Speaker 1: one who stabbed her boyfriend, and then you know, this
- 5:53Speaker 1: whole sort of hullabaloo began. I believe that she is
- 5:57Speaker 1: the origin of this, but maybe not. Maybe she's just
- 6:02Speaker 1: yet another one of these unstable bitches. But she is
- 6:10Speaker 1: introduced in this spectacular fashion where she is doing flamenco
- 6:15Speaker 1: on the street, and honestly, you guys, I love me
- 6:18Speaker 1: some Spanish guitar, I really do. I'm a real sucker
- 6:21Speaker 1: for it. So this scene worked for me. Sanji like
- 6:24Speaker 1: falling for her and immediately being willing to do anything
- 6:27Speaker 1: worked for me. All of this I am completely on
- 6:31Speaker 1: board for. I find it very hilarious. Sonji would absolutely
- 6:35Speaker 1: be one of these dudes on Snapped, who is just
- 6:39Speaker 1: floored once he realizes that the woman that he was
- 6:43Speaker 1: engaged to is actually not a real person, and just
- 6:48Speaker 1: it's it's sad, but it's also so foolish that it's like,
- 6:57Speaker 1: I have trouble feeling sorry for you because the abilities
- 7:01Speaker 1: is so intense that I don't even relate to it.
- 7:06Speaker 1: So Ashley Ashley and is in the chat and says,
- 7:09Speaker 1: I never listened to Snap, but after hearing you talk
- 7:11Speaker 1: about it a few times, I had to give it
- 7:12Speaker 1: a listen and now I'm hooked. It does that these
- 7:15Speaker 1: murders are fascinating, and most of the people who commit
- 7:18Speaker 1: these murders are so bad at it. You guys, they
- 7:20Speaker 1: are so bad at it. It's so funny. And I'm sorry.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I promise I will stop finished talk. I will stop
- 7:25Speaker 1: talking about Snapped within like three minutes. But most murderers,
- 7:36Speaker 1: they seem to really like think that cops are just
- 7:40Speaker 1: not gonna try that hard to catch them. That seems
- 7:43Speaker 1: to be like the way that they operate is just going, oh,
- 7:45Speaker 1: they're not gonna look that hard, and like it's murder,
- 7:50Speaker 1: they often do look that hard. I'm not trying to
- 7:53Speaker 1: say that they're, you know, the type of relentless terriers
- 7:57Speaker 1: that they are on television necessarily, but they're gonna do
- 8:01Speaker 1: a little something. But what's even funnier, for the sake
- 8:06Speaker 1: of the narrative that they have to create for a
- 8:09Speaker 1: podcast like Snapped, you've got to set it up as like, oh,
- 8:12Speaker 1: this man was found murdered, who could have done it?
- 8:16Speaker 1: And then they slowly begin to tell you the story.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Even though the episodes are literally titled after the murderer,
- 8:22Speaker 1: that's they're all named like Joanna Finton, you know, just
- 8:25Speaker 1: the name of the person who got convicted. But oftentimes,
- 8:30Speaker 1: once they actually begin to get into the meat of
- 8:35Speaker 1: the story and reveal stuff, you start to realize that
- 8:39Speaker 1: there was no doubt who committed this murder from the jump,
- 8:42Speaker 1: Like there was no mystery. In other words, there's like
- 8:47Speaker 1: eventually two thirds of the way through the episode, they're like,
- 8:50Speaker 1: and then we talked to her grandmother, who had been
- 8:54Speaker 1: told by the victim, if anything happens to me, it
- 8:58Speaker 1: was Joanna who did it. And Joanna had been seen
- 9:02Speaker 1: in a bar fighting him and screaming, I'm going to
- 9:05Speaker 1: kill you and take all your money, you son of
- 9:08Speaker 1: a bitch, Like that kind of thing, Like, there'll be
- 9:11Speaker 1: a million things beforehand, so when this person winds up dead,
- 9:14Speaker 1: there's there's nothing keeping this Johanna from getting caught. I
- 9:20Speaker 1: just find that really funny. These people are not subtle.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You can't let everybody know how much you hate a
- 9:26Speaker 1: person if you're planning on killing them. In fact, you
- 9:29Speaker 1: got to pretend that you love them. That's the best way.
- 9:32Speaker 1: So oh, Ashley says, it feels like, listening to those episodes,
- 9:38Speaker 1: law enforcement won't look that hard if it's not a
- 9:41Speaker 1: partner or ex It depends. When I say that they'll
- 9:46Speaker 1: look hard. I'm talking about like honestly, very basic level
- 9:50Speaker 1: stuff that people miss, and I'm talking shit like that
- 9:53Speaker 1: they will text somebody, lol, did you finish the murder yet?
- 9:58Speaker 1: That kind of thing, And it's like they weren't gonna
- 10:01Speaker 1: I didn't think they'd checked my text messages? Girl? Why
- 10:04Speaker 1: did Why would you think that they wouldn't check if
- 10:07Speaker 1: text messages? What? So? Anyway, I just wanted to get
- 10:13Speaker 1: Sonji kind of out of the way because his part
- 10:15Speaker 1: of the story. You know, it's most of episode two,
- 10:19Speaker 1: and this chick has told him nothing about what's going
- 10:24Speaker 1: on with this dude. But she tells him that she
- 10:28Speaker 1: wants him to kill this guy for her, and it's
- 10:31Speaker 1: not like Sonji agrees to do it, But he also
- 10:34Speaker 1: doesn't say no, So we don't get like, we don't
- 10:42Speaker 1: get enough of him here being like what for me
- 10:48Speaker 1: to feel confident in that he would say no. I
- 10:51Speaker 1: feel like we just weren't shown him saying yes, because
- 10:55Speaker 1: we are we don't want to hear one of our
- 10:59Speaker 1: heroes agreeing to commit murder like this so casually, but
- 11:03Speaker 1: that it's sort of implied that he has said yes,
- 11:07Speaker 1: that this is like the way that he's talking about
- 11:10Speaker 1: the two of them on the run together, that makes
- 11:13Speaker 1: me feel like he is going to be also on
- 11:17Speaker 1: the run. You know that he's going to do this
- 11:19Speaker 1: murder for her and then they're both going to have
- 11:21Speaker 1: to run and hide and that's part of the romance
- 11:23Speaker 1: for him. So oh my god, Ashley says, it's regularly
- 11:29Speaker 1: the three life insurance policies taken out a month beforehand
- 11:32Speaker 1: that gives it away. Literally, you guys, when I tell
- 11:34Speaker 1: you that these people are bad at it, I cannot
- 11:37Speaker 1: emphasize enough how bad at it they are. It is embarrassing.
- 11:41Speaker 1: There is one lady who literally had a list that
- 11:46Speaker 1: was titled something like things to do before I killed
- 11:50Speaker 1: Jonathan that she accidentally left on her desk that was
- 11:55Speaker 1: like by kerosene by knives, Like I am not kidding,
- 12:00Speaker 1: that was actually something that happened, and I will never
- 12:06Speaker 1: stop laughing about that. And it's such like somebody's dead,
- 12:09Speaker 1: Like it's not funny, but that is funny. That's so
- 12:14Speaker 1: it's so combo, incredibly organized and sloppy that I'm just like,
- 12:23Speaker 1: these things do not go together. How did you even
- 12:25Speaker 1: do this? Anyway? So let's back up and we'll talk
- 12:30Speaker 1: about the full of enthusiasm, the Krita Colisseum. So we
- 12:36Speaker 1: have to pick up where we left off at the
- 12:37Speaker 1: end of the last episode, which is to say that
- 12:39Speaker 1: we are at this this casino where this blind man
- 12:46Speaker 1: is getting played. This was so strange because the blind man,
- 12:50Speaker 1: it turns out, is actually kind of a badass and
- 12:55Speaker 1: I'm able to take care of himself. But also he's
- 12:58Speaker 1: evidently somewhat gullible because I wasn't sure within the scene
- 13:02Speaker 1: at first whether or not he really believed what he
- 13:04Speaker 1: was being told about, how the color was always the
- 13:08Speaker 1: opposite of what he had bet and it seems like
- 13:11Speaker 1: he really did believe it, that he really just felt
- 13:13Speaker 1: like he was on a terrible losing streak, and what
- 13:15Speaker 1: a shame. And we also get like the answer because
- 13:20Speaker 1: I asked when Florian was on the last episode. I
- 13:25Speaker 1: said to him something about like, why is it that
- 13:29Speaker 1: nobody else is stepping in to tell him the truth?
- 13:34Speaker 1: And it just turns out that the dude doing this
- 13:37Speaker 1: is part of the Don Quixote pirates, I believe, and
- 13:42Speaker 1: everybody is just too afraid of him to contradict him.
- 13:48Speaker 1: So we get a final bet on White when they
- 13:52Speaker 1: both bet everything, and of course the only person to
- 13:57Speaker 1: just say it's White Loofy, and he is still in
- 14:03Speaker 1: his old man beard. I really do enjoy anytime that
- 14:07Speaker 1: you have got a bad disguise, Like obviously there are
- 14:11Speaker 1: gonna be times where bad disguise is really terrible in
- 14:17Speaker 1: shows where it's meant to be taken seriously, but in
- 14:20Speaker 1: stuff like this, I can't help but laugh. The way
- 14:31Speaker 1: that he has black hair underneath this beard and he
- 14:35Speaker 1: does not have the body or stance of an old man.
- 14:43Speaker 1: It's completely ignored. Everybody sees this gray beard and they're
- 14:46Speaker 1: immediately like old man done, done so, and you would
- 14:50Speaker 1: think that this was unbelievable also, but let me tell
- 14:54Speaker 1: you about another thing that I saw that kind of
- 14:57Speaker 1: holds up. There is a man who has a TikTok
- 15:01Speaker 1: account and he is a bodybuilder, but he isn't like
- 15:08Speaker 1: as I don't think he uses like human growth hormone
- 15:12Speaker 1: or anything that gets you super bulky. So he is
- 15:16Speaker 1: in excellent shape, but he is still like kind of
- 15:19Speaker 1: a wiry frame that doesn't look super strong when he
- 15:24Speaker 1: is in regular clothing. So this dude puts on costumes
- 15:32Speaker 1: and a fake beard and a fake hair and makes
- 15:36Speaker 1: himself look like an old man, and he brings a
- 15:40Speaker 1: prop of a mop spray bottle and rag things like
- 15:44Speaker 1: this to the gym, and he goes around and pretends
- 15:49Speaker 1: to be the custodian wiping things down. But he also
- 15:54Speaker 1: will move enormous weight out of the way very casually
- 16:00Speaker 1: on camera. So he's doddering around looking like he is
- 16:04Speaker 1: at least seventy years old. And then there'll be somebody
- 16:07Speaker 1: doing deadlifts of three hundred pounds and this guy comes
- 16:11Speaker 1: by and is like, do you mind if I just
- 16:12Speaker 1: mop under this real quick? And they kind of give
- 16:15Speaker 1: him a look like yeah, okay, and he'll bend pick
- 16:20Speaker 1: up the whole barbell with one hand and really quickly
- 16:24Speaker 1: like mop underneath it with the other hand, and then
- 16:27Speaker 1: set it down like it's nothing. And these guys all
- 16:30Speaker 1: fall out completely blown away because they are looking at
- 16:34Speaker 1: a very fit, thirty something man and they don't see
- 16:38Speaker 1: it because he's just dressed and has a very bad
- 16:42Speaker 1: by the way, fake beard. Sole Uh. This whole setup
- 16:50Speaker 1: is really actually something that can be pulled off, because honestly,
- 16:58Speaker 1: in daily life, I don't think a lot of us
- 17:00Speaker 1: are looking out for fake beards and stuff. We're not
- 17:03Speaker 1: really like trained to notice that sort of thing unless
- 17:08Speaker 1: we're really looking closely at a person, and we don't
- 17:11Speaker 1: often look that closely at people that we pass in
- 17:14Speaker 1: the grocery store or on the street, you know. So anyway,
- 17:21Speaker 1: loofy uh. He keeps on like pushing and being like no,
- 17:25Speaker 1: it is white, like congratulations, you won everything. So this
- 17:31Speaker 1: is when the blind man gets up and he's like
- 17:33Speaker 1: gonna take off with all his winnings, and the pirates
- 17:37Speaker 1: gather around him in a circle and he says, oh,
- 17:41Speaker 1: it's a fight, Well, excuse me, do me a favor.
- 17:45Speaker 1: And please take a step back. And as he's doing this,
- 17:49Speaker 1: Lufy is just eating noodles off to the side. It
- 17:52Speaker 1: looks like soba noodles. So this guy, when they don't
- 17:56Speaker 1: step back, he says, you're giving me no choice. I
- 18:00Speaker 1: have to send every one of them to hell. And
- 18:04Speaker 1: these guys come at him now. Some of them attempt
- 18:07Speaker 1: to slice him with swords, and those swords don't even
- 18:13Speaker 1: touch him, but he doesn't move. It feels like somehow
- 18:17Speaker 1: he shifted their blow without having to move. And I
- 18:24Speaker 1: don't know if this is meant to be hockey or what.
- 18:28Speaker 1: There are a couple of blows that he does like
- 18:32Speaker 1: defend against with his staff, but a lot of it
- 18:35Speaker 1: it just seems like they are nowhere near actually hitting him.
- 18:39Speaker 1: He knocks pretty much everybody over, and all of a sudden,
- 18:45Speaker 1: all of these pirates are standing around looking at themselves
- 18:49Speaker 1: like they are expecting there to have been wounds that
- 18:54Speaker 1: aren't there. And it was sort of difficult because he
- 18:58Speaker 1: takes the blade out and he is it seems like
- 19:03Speaker 1: slicing the shit out of them, but there's no blood,
- 19:06Speaker 1: there's no nothing. So once they realize that nothing has happened,
- 19:10Speaker 1: they all seem to be just sort of befuddled. There's
- 19:14Speaker 1: just a sense of like, Okay, well we're fine, but
- 19:20Speaker 1: old guys definitely does something to us. Well, maybe you
- 19:24Speaker 1: should just let him go because we clearly do not
- 19:27Speaker 1: know what it is that we are dealing with. So
- 19:30Speaker 1: he begins to walk by them, and like they're mostly
- 19:34Speaker 1: standing and okay, but they're just letting him pass. And
- 19:42Speaker 1: then there is a pressure that begins to build up,
- 19:48Speaker 1: so I think maybe they're all just standing there letting
- 19:50Speaker 1: him pass because they can't move. It's not totally clear
- 19:54Speaker 1: to me. In the moment, there begins to be this
- 19:57Speaker 1: effect that they put over the animation where it's like
- 20:00Speaker 1: a kind of up and down blur, and this is
- 20:04Speaker 1: meant to indicate that they're trying to move. So I
- 20:07Speaker 1: was sort of taking it for granted that earlier, when
- 20:09Speaker 1: this animation hasn't been doing this, that that's not what's
- 20:12Speaker 1: going on, but it may have already started. So these
- 20:19Speaker 1: guys are suddenly talking about how they are really heavy,
- 20:22Speaker 1: and they are pushed down onto the ground as if
- 20:25Speaker 1: gravity is suddenly much stronger than it should be. And
- 20:30Speaker 1: this is happening as this dude is sliding his sword
- 20:34Speaker 1: into its sheath. There's something about that action that seems
- 20:38Speaker 1: to be linked to the gravity in the room. I
- 20:41Speaker 1: don't know if this is a devil fruit power, or
- 20:45Speaker 1: if this is just hockey or what. But as he
- 20:49Speaker 1: finishes putting his sword away, the whole floor of this
- 20:56Speaker 1: casino just opens up and all of these dudes just
- 21:00Speaker 1: fall into a pit. So when he said I'm sending
- 21:05Speaker 1: them to hell, he was evidently very literal. That was
- 21:10Speaker 1: exactly what he meant. Which this it's just wild. And
- 21:16Speaker 1: I love the fact that, of course Lufi is standing
- 21:20Speaker 1: there and he is unmoved, utterly unmoved. He has no reaction.
- 21:27Speaker 1: It's like nothing even happened. Meanwhile, all his friends are
- 21:31Speaker 1: flipping out, like what is he doing? What? Who is
- 21:34Speaker 1: this guy? So as they're all distracted by this huge hole,
- 21:42Speaker 1: we see this weird shot from behind Zoro and one
- 21:44Speaker 1: of his swords moving, and I thought it was him
- 21:48Speaker 1: getting a sword, although it was sort of a weird
- 21:51Speaker 1: way to animate that sometimes be like that, so I
- 21:57Speaker 1: didn't really think anything of it. These guys are just
- 22:02Speaker 1: flattened to the floor at the bottom of this pit.
- 22:05Speaker 1: This is so funny. Old man continues on his way out,
- 22:10Speaker 1: saying that there are so many horrible things in the world.
- 22:13Speaker 1: The fact that he is blind is actually a blessing
- 22:16Speaker 1: because now he doesn't have to look at all these
- 22:18Speaker 1: terrible things. He uses his stick to feel his way
- 22:22Speaker 1: as he leaves the room, and I should mention too that, like,
- 22:27Speaker 1: he is blind, but he has scars over his eyes
- 22:31Speaker 1: and forehead, so this does not seem like something that
- 22:34Speaker 1: he was born with. It seems like this was the
- 22:36Speaker 1: result of an injury. So as he's leaving, he hands
- 22:44Speaker 1: an address to the lady who is like by the
- 22:46Speaker 1: till at the front, and tells her to send all
- 22:49Speaker 1: the bills for repair to this address. And once he's leaving,
- 22:58Speaker 1: Lufy asks what is your name anyway? And he laughs
- 23:01Speaker 1: and says, I guess you could call it second sight,
- 23:05Speaker 1: but there's something that's telling me, not answering, you would
- 23:09Speaker 1: be better for both our sakes. And he just leaves,
- 23:14Speaker 1: and I am so curious what that is about. Once
- 23:20Speaker 1: he's gone, it turns out our guy is he practiced
- 23:32Speaker 1: some sleight of hand and pickpocketed a bunch of people.
- 23:39Speaker 1: This is like, it's so unexpected and it is so funny.
- 23:46Speaker 1: So he was over here on this roulette wheel somehow
- 23:51Speaker 1: managing to like call the color that was going to
- 23:55Speaker 1: come up with such unfailing accuracy that that feels like
- 24:00Speaker 1: it has to be hockey of some kind. I feel
- 24:04Speaker 1: like there's something about he has some kind of ability
- 24:09Speaker 1: that is like the supernatural equivalent of counting cards, and
- 24:13Speaker 1: like what I'm saying is, yes, it's technically supernatural, but
- 24:18Speaker 1: that it's not what that ability should be used for,
- 24:22Speaker 1: Like they are better ways or you know, more interesting
- 24:25Speaker 1: things that you could do with it. But if you
- 24:27Speaker 1: do want to get like wild at a card table,
- 24:31Speaker 1: you can, but if they knew about it, they would
- 24:35Speaker 1: probably not let you win because carda card counting, I believe,
- 24:42Speaker 1: is not technically illegal in Vegas. I believe it is
- 24:46Speaker 1: just something that will get you removed and blackball from
- 24:52Speaker 1: being able to come to any casino if they managed
- 24:54Speaker 1: to tell that you're doing it. So that's that's my guess.
- 24:59Speaker 1: The fact that he did that, and that all their
- 25:01Speaker 1: wallets and like Zoro's sword, they're all gone leads me
- 25:06Speaker 1: to believe that this dude is a straight up con
- 25:09Speaker 1: man of some kind, a grifter. Eventually, somebody claims that
- 25:16Speaker 1: it's the fairies that did it. And this dude just says,
- 25:24Speaker 1: one of the toys soldiers looks like they stole from everyone,
- 25:29Speaker 1: but that's what fairies do for fun. And Zorro is like,
- 25:34Speaker 1: what the hell are you talking about, and he says,
- 25:36Speaker 1: fairies are fairies. That's all I know. All you can
- 25:39Speaker 1: do is laugh and let it go. Invisible fairies are
- 25:44Speaker 1: the guardians of dress Rosa since ancient times, and their
- 25:48Speaker 1: ally when they engage in mischief, the only thing to
- 25:52Speaker 1: do is turn a blind eye. And one of the
- 25:57Speaker 1: other toys is like, well, if it's fairies that stole, like,
- 25:59Speaker 1: it's okay, then let's just forget about it. If the
- 26:07Speaker 1: fairies are invisible, are they saying that, like the man
- 26:12Speaker 1: who just left wasn't a fairy, Like they're saying that
- 26:15Speaker 1: the fairies is a separate incident that happened from this
- 26:18Speaker 1: man and the big sort of you know scene that
- 26:23Speaker 1: we just saw. Okay, sure, you know what, I'm not
- 26:28Speaker 1: gonna get in the way of a blind man doing
- 26:30Speaker 1: his con Go off, King, go ahead. I should also
- 26:36Speaker 1: mention too that Zoro's sword is apparently something that's like
- 26:39Speaker 1: really valuable to the samurai, so to like their community,
- 26:44Speaker 1: and it's like a historical artifact. So the fact that
- 26:48Speaker 1: Zoro has it and does not want to give it
- 26:50Speaker 1: up is like an increasing bone of contention between him
- 26:53Speaker 1: and the samurai. And he doesn't give any shits and
- 26:57Speaker 1: is not planning to hand it over, but he is
- 27:01Speaker 1: extremely offended about this being taken and this winds up
- 27:05Speaker 1: getting his goat, so to speak, and he separates from
- 27:08Speaker 1: the group in order to chase this dude down, which
- 27:13Speaker 1: he is taking it. For granted that it is definitely
- 27:16Speaker 1: this guy who stole it, it would be very funny
- 27:18Speaker 1: if it turns out it's not. I've also been assuming
- 27:20Speaker 1: it is, but like if it's a completely separate incident,
- 27:24Speaker 1: that would be kind of funny. Alana says, I'm from Ireland.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Blaming fairies is so valid. I mean, honestly, this was
- 27:34Speaker 1: something that my mom would say. Al So she would
- 27:36Speaker 1: whenever he like something kind of coincidental, you know, like
- 27:43Speaker 1: we would find something on the street when taking a
- 27:46Speaker 1: walk or something, she would be like, oh, that's the fairies.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Things like that. So yeah, the fact that everybody is
- 27:53Speaker 1: just sort of immediately giving up Zoro is just not
- 27:57Speaker 1: that guy. He is going to make this an issue.
- 28:02Speaker 1: So Zoro he heads after this man in the most
- 28:08Speaker 1: dramatic fashion. By the way, he doesn't just leave out
- 28:11Speaker 1: the door. He goes crashing through a window, and it
- 28:16Speaker 1: is it's just the most unnecessary thing. It's very much
- 28:22Speaker 1: giving like Jake Peralta on Brooklyn ninety nine, where you
- 28:26Speaker 1: didn't need to do that, you just did it because
- 28:28Speaker 1: like it's the action hero thing to do. Except I
- 28:31Speaker 1: don't believe that Zorro is not the same type of
- 28:33Speaker 1: like wanting to do something just because it's cool. It's
- 28:36Speaker 1: literally just the most direct route out and he did.
- 28:39Speaker 1: That's all he thinks about this man. HM. So this
- 28:43Speaker 1: is when Frankie watching this whole ridiculous thing, is like, Okay,
- 28:50Speaker 1: I get it. When our crew is split up, I
- 28:53Speaker 1: am the one that has to step up and be
- 28:55Speaker 1: the adult because he's watching like Sonjy fly out after him,
- 29:00Speaker 1: him and then the samurai and he just calls them
- 29:04Speaker 1: all show offs, which is fair. Like, again, I don't
- 29:08Speaker 1: really think that's the motivation for Zoro exactly, but maybe
- 29:14Speaker 1: it is, Like I don't really know Zorro's I don't
- 29:25Speaker 1: know how vany is. He takes himself seriously and that's
- 29:30Speaker 1: a kind of vanity. But I don't know. So Okay,
- 29:38Speaker 1: he sees this pack just dashing down the street. I
- 29:42Speaker 1: guess maybe it is completely separate from this guy. It
- 29:46Speaker 1: just feels like the incident taking place within the fight,
- 29:49Speaker 1: it's the same. Like I feel like it's all connected somehow.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Maybe my assumption and originally had been like I'm creating
- 29:59Speaker 1: this massive distraction by cracking a hole in the floor
- 30:03Speaker 1: so that nobody will notice. But maybe it's like just
- 30:07Speaker 1: a coincidence. The Faye just came in during this whole
- 30:10Speaker 1: thing and just stole a bunch of shit, and there's
- 30:14Speaker 1: it has nothing to do with that other guy. I
- 30:19Speaker 1: am very curious though, if we ever get to see
- 30:22Speaker 1: the fairies what they are going to look like, because
- 30:25Speaker 1: this bag looks like it's basically bouncing along the ground.
- 30:28Speaker 1: It's not actually being held up by anything. If it is,
- 30:33Speaker 1: that thing is very, very small. So this is when
- 30:38Speaker 1: Kinemon's hat comes off and his top knot is exposed,
- 30:42Speaker 1: and the kids like yells about how funny his hair is,
- 30:46Speaker 1: and he gets very self conscious and he goes and
- 30:50Speaker 1: grabs the hat again, and we get this weird thing
- 30:52Speaker 1: where his hair seems to poke out of his hat
- 30:56Speaker 1: and make a new design on the outside. Very odd,
- 30:59Speaker 1: but all this is just meant to separate him from
- 31:02Speaker 1: everybody else. Zoro, you know, he's at the head of
- 31:06Speaker 1: the pack. Sanji is tailing Zoro, but eventually just like
- 31:10Speaker 1: literally gives up when he sees a hot girl. And
- 31:13Speaker 1: then Kinemon is over here realizing that he is totally lost,
- 31:18Speaker 1: and behind him there is somebody watching him from the
- 31:21Speaker 1: shadows with like this weird spiked helmet on. So we
- 31:29Speaker 1: find one of the uh dudes who this guy fought
- 31:33Speaker 1: with out in an alley, the one with the that
- 31:37Speaker 1: was like the head of this whole Roulette incident, and
- 31:44Speaker 1: Loofy is questioning him about you know, where this factory is,
- 31:50Speaker 1: Smile all of that stuff, and this dude doesn't seem
- 31:53Speaker 1: to know anything about it, which he is evidently pretty
- 31:57Speaker 1: low on the hierarchy. They like would not tell him anything,
- 32:03Speaker 1: so finally he's like, uh, he tells them about this
- 32:09Speaker 1: tournament that's going to be happening. You know. The reason
- 32:17Speaker 1: that this comes up is because they're saying, well, we
- 32:19Speaker 1: need to find somebody who would know this information. Where
- 32:22Speaker 1: are your superiors? And he's like, good, luck finding anybody
- 32:26Speaker 1: that isn't at the coliseum today. That is where literally
- 32:29Speaker 1: everybody is heading. If you want high ranking officials, that's
- 32:32Speaker 1: the place to go. And he says there's a huge
- 32:36Speaker 1: event going on today. All the Famili's leaders should be
- 32:39Speaker 1: in attendance watching it go down. The big event everyone's
- 32:43Speaker 1: excited for is an occasion no one wants to miss.
- 32:48Speaker 1: And he says, for whatever reason, the young masters just
- 32:53Speaker 1: do Flamingo. He is the one who set all of
- 33:00Speaker 1: this up, and he says he's gonna offer such an
- 33:06Speaker 1: incredible prize that I was actually doubtful about it when
- 33:10Speaker 1: people when it was announced, because it just seems like
- 33:14Speaker 1: too good a prize. Of course, Lufy thinks it's meat,
- 33:21Speaker 1: But what it turns out it actually is is firefist
- 33:28Speaker 1: Ace's devil fruit. The question is how he knows it's
- 33:37Speaker 1: firefist aces fruit exactly like it's meant to pop up
- 33:41Speaker 1: in a random location somewhere across the world. And I
- 33:44Speaker 1: don't know how you know what it is when you
- 33:47Speaker 1: find it like which one, because the way I understood it,
- 33:51Speaker 1: devil fruits don't have any like external giveaway on what
- 33:56Speaker 1: they do, so all I can imagine is that like
- 34:03Speaker 1: people for some reason know what the Devil fruit looked
- 34:07Speaker 1: like that ACE eight, and so this looks the same.
- 34:10Speaker 1: But I don't know why anybody would know that, And
- 34:14Speaker 1: I don't know how you would track down the exact
- 34:17Speaker 1: place that it decided to sprout. I mean, granted, it's
- 34:21Speaker 1: been over two years since he died, so it's not
- 34:24Speaker 1: like you didn't have time to look for it. But
- 34:27Speaker 1: just how you would confirm all of this is uh.
- 34:32Speaker 1: I you know, there's a part of me that is
- 34:36Speaker 1: kind of like, it's going to turn out that this
- 34:37Speaker 1: fruit isn't anything. I don't think that's probably true. Maybe
- 34:42Speaker 1: we'll just get an explanation about that stuff. But uh yeah,
- 34:46Speaker 1: when it's revealed that that's what the prize is going
- 34:49Speaker 1: to be, I was like, Oh, that is wild. I
- 34:53Speaker 1: didn't even consider that he would use this fruit in
- 34:58Speaker 1: this sort of way. And I love the fact that,
- 35:01Speaker 1: like later on, when Lufy has found out about this,
- 35:04Speaker 1: he's like, oh, well, then I am definitely going to
- 35:07Speaker 1: enter this contest. That the first thing Frankie says is well,
- 35:13Speaker 1: it's probably a trap given the way that he taunted
- 35:16Speaker 1: you about it. But also, you really can't miss this
- 35:21Speaker 1: sort of opportunity, so yeah, let's go for it. I
- 35:24Speaker 1: was so pleased Frankie is not here to rain on
- 35:28Speaker 1: Lufy's parade or be like, we have to be cautious
- 35:31Speaker 1: about this, but he's also not gullible and just like,
- 35:35Speaker 1: oh yeah, what a coincidence. The fact that they are
- 35:38Speaker 1: walking into this knowing that this is very likely some
- 35:41Speaker 1: kind of trap. I am super interested in seeing what
- 35:46Speaker 1: the trap is going to turn out to be. Later on,
- 35:51Speaker 1: all of the fighters that have gathered together as well,
- 35:54Speaker 1: are like talking to each other about how much likelihood
- 35:58Speaker 1: there is that this fight is fixed because getting a
- 36:02Speaker 1: devil fruit gives people such incredible powers that there are
- 36:09Speaker 1: going to be lots of different countries that are sponsoring
- 36:13Speaker 1: people to go in and fight so that they will
- 36:16Speaker 1: have like a new soldier who has different abilities. Oh
- 36:22Speaker 1: that's right, Alana says. Remember there's a devil fruit encyclopedia.
- 36:25Speaker 1: It was mentioned in thriller Bark. I did forget about that, Alana,
- 36:29Speaker 1: thank you? Yeah, that's like. I still really want more
- 36:33Speaker 1: information about this though, like how how do they know?
- 36:40Speaker 1: How who compiles this information and how easy to access
- 36:49Speaker 1: is it? Is this a commonly printed book that you
- 36:51Speaker 1: can get a copy of anywhere. You know, did they
- 36:55Speaker 1: print like a devil fruit encyclopedia to buy like in
- 36:59Speaker 1: real life? I feel like that would be a really
- 37:02Speaker 1: good merchandising opportunity. Obviously I couldn't partake and read it
- 37:07Speaker 1: because it would be full of spoilers. But you know,
- 37:11Speaker 1: it's sort of on the same lines as me wanting
- 37:13Speaker 1: to have the one Piece theme park, which I stand
- 37:15Speaker 1: by as being an idea that would make so much money.
- 37:19Speaker 1: But I'm getting ahead of myself here. So that's how
- 37:26Speaker 1: the episode ends, is like Loofy hearing that that's what
- 37:28Speaker 1: the prize is, and then the start of the next
- 37:32Speaker 1: episode is him kind of losing his shit over the
- 37:37Speaker 1: fact that he can't allow anybody else to have this fruit,
- 37:42Speaker 1: and it's a great moment. I'll acknowledge too that the
- 37:46Speaker 1: fruit has all of these flames on the outside, so
- 37:49Speaker 1: like you could take it as just a given, but honestly,
- 37:53Speaker 1: because they can like create artificial devil fruits now due
- 37:56Speaker 1: to the way that Smile works, still kind of felt
- 38:01Speaker 1: like you don't you still don't know that it's real,
- 38:03Speaker 1: though you know it could be an artificially created devil fruit.
- 38:07Speaker 1: It could be something that's just like, you know, made
- 38:10Speaker 1: of wood and carved to look like a devil fruit.
- 38:15Speaker 1: What they're just there's a lot of uh, there's a
- 38:19Speaker 1: lot of ways that you could make this into a scam,
- 38:21Speaker 1: is all I'm saying. So then the guy who's like talking,
- 38:28Speaker 1: he's what, what's the word I want? I guess the
- 38:30Speaker 1: host of the uh the Colosseum gladiatorial fights, he is
- 38:40Speaker 1: really giving the dude from those Mel Gibson movies, Max,
- 38:47Speaker 1: you guys know the ones I'm talking about that Fury
- 38:49Speaker 1: Road was based off of. He's just got this really
- 38:53Speaker 1: intense voice to him and he there are all these
- 38:59Speaker 1: screens up as well, so they're introducing all of the
- 39:02Speaker 1: different people who are going to compete. We have got
- 39:06Speaker 1: Senor Pink. I'm gonna just say right now, Senor Pink
- 39:16Speaker 1: makes me deeply, deeply uncomfortable. Brauh has a woman's arms
- 39:24Speaker 1: wrapped around him up against him like in the photo,
- 39:28Speaker 1: but he also is wearing a pink ruffled bonnet, a
- 39:32Speaker 1: pink and white polka dot kerchief tied around his neck,
- 39:38Speaker 1: aviator shades, and he has a pacifier in his mouth
- 39:45Speaker 1: and a very small nose and very big lips with
- 39:51Speaker 1: extremely shaggy dark hair protruding from underneath. I don't like
- 39:58Speaker 1: this at all. I am not here to kink shame anybody.
- 40:03Speaker 1: I don't want to say this first, however, there are
- 40:08Speaker 1: some kinks that really make me feel a little queasy.
- 40:15Speaker 1: And any time that you have got a person who
- 40:17Speaker 1: is pretending to be a child, it's just gonna be uncomfortable.
- 40:25Speaker 1: And I get it that there's like dynamics there and
- 40:28Speaker 1: whatnot that are you know, that's part of what makes
- 40:31Speaker 1: it like a fun taboo thing. But also if and
- 40:38Speaker 1: when it is like a dude who enjoys being treated
- 40:41Speaker 1: like an actual infant, I have a real hard time now.
- 40:47Speaker 1: I see that this man it's not necessarily a kink,
- 40:50Speaker 1: but this is just like his look. I would like
- 40:53Speaker 1: to say, that's worse. You get how that's worse, right,
- 40:59Speaker 1: I don't like it. So this is mm mmm, send
- 41:05Speaker 1: your pink. I hope you die very quickly. Fen Dellinger,
- 41:12Speaker 1: who looks like a sort of unclear on the gender
- 41:18Speaker 1: then I don't know, like if that name goes with
- 41:22Speaker 1: a particular gender or not, but they have a they
- 41:27Speaker 1: have shaggy blonde hair, they're wearing what looks like a
- 41:31Speaker 1: baseball cap with horns that are attached to it, pink earrings,
- 41:37Speaker 1: and the collared shirt and they have their finger over
- 41:42Speaker 1: their upper lip like you're trying to do a pretend
- 41:44Speaker 1: little mustache lou ge who just looks like a pretty
- 41:49Speaker 1: badass old fighter dude a match vis match fise I
- 41:57Speaker 1: don't know how you say his and then the call
- 42:00Speaker 1: SM's reigning hero and this is Diamante, So uh, this
- 42:08Speaker 1: is this is who we are up against, and the
- 42:10Speaker 1: way that this is done. Diamante's the like, you know,
- 42:17Speaker 1: paint over like down both sides of his face. It
- 42:21Speaker 1: looks like he's wearing a hat that has horns coming
- 42:25Speaker 1: out of it, but you can't see enough of it
- 42:26Speaker 1: to really tell. He has much more of a close
- 42:29Speaker 1: up in his photo. So the crowd is getting antsy,
- 42:33Speaker 1: and it's just like, let's see this first match come on,
- 42:37Speaker 1: and we go back to Loofy where he is hearing
- 42:42Speaker 1: about the way that the devil fruit will when somebody
- 42:46Speaker 1: dies suddenly re sprout somewhere, and Loofy kind of loses
- 42:52Speaker 1: it for a second and he says, like, you're not
- 42:54Speaker 1: getting anywhere near that fruit Frankie says, Oh, yeah, didn't
- 42:59Speaker 1: you have a brother named Ace? Guys? I am so
- 43:07Speaker 1: confused by this. Why doesn't Frankie know intimately and for
- 43:15Speaker 1: certain that Lufy has a brother named Ace and that
- 43:20Speaker 1: he is dead. He says it like they've never discussed
- 43:25Speaker 1: Ace and for sure, like he does not know Ace
- 43:29Speaker 1: is dead. Louvi hasn't told anybody. Are you serious, dude?
- 43:40Speaker 1: I mean, even if he didn't, it would have been
- 43:42Speaker 1: in the news. There's news about everything all the time.
- 43:47Speaker 1: I would have definitely thought firefist Ace being killed would
- 43:52Speaker 1: have made it to the papers. I am so lost
- 44:00Speaker 1: by the fact that Frankie reacts this way. I thought
- 44:03Speaker 1: for sure that his first reaction when he heard that
- 44:06Speaker 1: they had the Devil Fruit was going to be like,
- 44:08Speaker 1: oh shit, you know, like he would know that Lufy
- 44:11Speaker 1: wanted a piece of this, And instead he has very
- 44:14Speaker 1: little reaction, and I was sort of like, why isn't
- 44:18Speaker 1: he And then it turns out like he doesn't apparently
- 44:21Speaker 1: even know anything, which I don't get how you don't
- 44:29Speaker 1: find out this information. It's also like Lufy literally has
- 44:35Speaker 1: this wound on his chest because he was trying to
- 44:37Speaker 1: protect Ace. A massive wound in the center of his
- 44:42Speaker 1: chest that almost killed him. It wouldn't come up in
- 44:45Speaker 1: conversation why he has that huge scar, like Zoro having
- 44:53Speaker 1: the scar that nobody knows. I understand Zora doesn't talk
- 44:57Speaker 1: about shit, you know, And if somebody asked where to
- 45:00Speaker 1: get the scar, I could see Zorro just saying none
- 45:02Speaker 1: of your business and then being like okay and just
- 45:05Speaker 1: dropping it. But Loofy, he's the leader and the whole
- 45:11Speaker 1: thing I just again really would have thought would be
- 45:14Speaker 1: well publicized. I am really baffled by this. Ashley says
- 45:22Speaker 1: he never met him though, so maybe he doesn't know
- 45:25Speaker 1: about Ace's devil Fruit. Maybe he might think it could
- 45:27Speaker 1: be a different Ace. I don't see it. I mean,
- 45:32Speaker 1: I just don't see that Lufy talks about his brother
- 45:35Speaker 1: Ace and it's not mentioned that he's firefist Ace, Like,
- 45:41Speaker 1: I don't know. Elana says, Frankie never met Ace, but yeah,
- 45:44Speaker 1: I don't know why he's so casual about it. I
- 45:46Speaker 1: don't know, because Frankie definitely saw Loofy praying at Marine
- 45:49Speaker 1: Ford in the news. This is what I'm talking about. Like,
- 45:52Speaker 1: we know that they all read the news because that's
- 45:56Speaker 1: the way that Lufy got the alert out to meet
- 45:59Speaker 1: in two years, that they read the paper and stayed
- 46:03Speaker 1: up on things. So it's just a really strange moment
- 46:09Speaker 1: that makes it feel like Lufy hasn't shared anything that
- 46:12Speaker 1: he went through with anybody, And even if he didn't,
- 46:16Speaker 1: you would expect everybody to be aware of it at
- 46:19Speaker 1: the least and just respect that he doesn't want to
- 46:22Speaker 1: talk about it, sure, but they would know the basics
- 46:26Speaker 1: of what happened there. It's just so odd, and you know,
- 46:31Speaker 1: considering like so much of the way that this show
- 46:34Speaker 1: is structured and the lessons that it has, they all
- 46:38Speaker 1: sort of revolve around being friends and honoring friendship and
- 46:44Speaker 1: having each other's backs, and so for there to be
- 46:47Speaker 1: this weird disconnect where Frankie seems to be completely unaware
- 46:53Speaker 1: of the most tragic thing that ever happened in Lufy's
- 46:57Speaker 1: life that was really since he was on the crew,
- 47:04Speaker 1: it makes it feel like they are not good friends
- 47:07Speaker 1: after all. And I don't think that was the intention,
- 47:10Speaker 1: but that's how it felt reading it. You know, I
- 47:14Speaker 1: was just completely confused by this. I just it may
- 47:19Speaker 1: not it may be it was supposed to be kind
- 47:22Speaker 1: of nothing, and I'm making too much of it. Maybe
- 47:25Speaker 1: it's a translation thing and in the translation it's like
- 47:28Speaker 1: sounding really casual, and in the original it doesn't sound
- 47:31Speaker 1: this way. But whatever the case, it just really made
- 47:38Speaker 1: me stop and go, I'm sorry. What Ashley says, Lufy
- 47:43Speaker 1: is weirdly quiet about his personal life, though, considering how
- 47:46Speaker 1: long it took for the straw Hats to learn Garp
- 47:48Speaker 1: was his granddad, maybe Lufy doesn't open up like that.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I mean, maybe he doesn't, but again, they should know anyway,
- 47:56Speaker 1: because it would have been talked about. It would like this,
- 48:00Speaker 1: all this information was happening and in the news while
- 48:04Speaker 1: it was. We literally had like a film crew set
- 48:07Speaker 1: up that was taking live footage from the battlefield at
- 48:12Speaker 1: the War of the Best and pumping out the live
- 48:15Speaker 1: footage to the masses to see the fight as it
- 48:18Speaker 1: was happening there there. This is like one of those
- 48:23Speaker 1: sorts of things that I don't think you could get
- 48:25Speaker 1: away from seeing, like the Twin Towers, you know, that
- 48:29Speaker 1: kind of level of thing where there's just constant footage
- 48:33Speaker 1: of it from a bunch of different angles, and everybody
- 48:37Speaker 1: was watching and glued to the set at the same
- 48:40Speaker 1: time and seeing the thing so yeah, it just I
- 48:46Speaker 1: don't This just doesn't make any sense to me. It's
- 48:48Speaker 1: a really weird thing, and I I don't know if
- 48:54Speaker 1: maybe it's supposed to be more of a relection reflection
- 48:56Speaker 1: of Frankie, and maybe it's like he is supposed to
- 48:59Speaker 1: know and this is just him being a dupe and
- 49:01Speaker 1: not remembering something hugely important. And that's kind of the joke,
- 49:05Speaker 1: is that like, oh, yeah, didn't you have a brother?
- 49:10Speaker 1: But it doesn't really work in context, because like this
- 49:15Speaker 1: is such a serious and terrible loss for Lufy that
- 49:18Speaker 1: him being like, oh yeah, I forgot about that. Again,
- 49:22Speaker 1: that's not something that you would joke about. That's not
- 49:24Speaker 1: like a friend joke. That just feels shitty to just say.
- 49:30Speaker 1: So anyway, I just I wanted to stop and ask
- 49:34Speaker 1: about this, and you know the fact that both of
- 49:37Speaker 1: you don't really have an answer for me. I'm I'm
- 49:41Speaker 1: really curious anybody listening what you think about this, because
- 49:46Speaker 1: I genuinely want there to be an explanation and otherwise
- 49:53Speaker 1: this feels like a bizarre thing to do. Anyway, when
- 49:59Speaker 1: Lou like, I want it that fruit should be mine,
- 50:03Speaker 1: and he yells and he says this like to Frankie
- 50:05Speaker 1: in this very firm way, and Frankie just stares back,
- 50:09Speaker 1: and the two of them just kind of lock eyes,
- 50:12Speaker 1: and then Frankie starts laughing, and Lufy says he chills out,
- 50:21Speaker 1: laughs also and says, yeah, uh, you could eat it.
- 50:26Speaker 1: You don't have any powers. And it's this abrupt turn
- 50:32Speaker 1: from him being like really possessive and angry to then
- 50:37Speaker 1: laughing and again laughing in this moment. I think what
- 50:43Speaker 1: it's supposed to be is that Lufy gets so emotional
- 50:47Speaker 1: and angry so quickly that what Frankie does is sort
- 50:52Speaker 1: of diffuse the situation by laughing, you know, and kind
- 50:55Speaker 1: of being like, hey, bud, okay there, you know. But
- 51:00Speaker 1: just all together with the fact that Frankie didn't seem
- 51:02Speaker 1: to know what was going on in the first place,
- 51:04Speaker 1: it all does not work. This conversation felt extremely weird.
- 51:08Speaker 1: It felt like everybody had a different scriptu and was
- 51:10Speaker 1: having a different conversation. But yeah, basically, the conclusion that
- 51:15Speaker 1: Lufy comes to is I need to get that fruit
- 51:20Speaker 1: because there's no goddamn way that some random is going
- 51:24Speaker 1: to be walking around with the same power that Ace had.
- 51:27Speaker 1: And Frankie doesn't want to eat it because he does
- 51:30Speaker 1: not want to lose his ability to swim. I was
- 51:33Speaker 1: sort of thinking, like, who is the person that I
- 51:37Speaker 1: would want to eat the you know, flame flame fruit?
- 51:43Speaker 1: And I don't know, you guys, I guess Nammy. I
- 51:51Speaker 1: don't know. Like I feel like with Nami it would
- 51:55Speaker 1: work best with her like weather powers somehow, like there
- 51:59Speaker 1: might ways that you could combine that. But we are
- 52:05Speaker 1: like Chopper's already eaten one Sonjy has his like magical
- 52:09Speaker 1: kicking power, and I feel like that's good enough. We
- 52:11Speaker 1: don't need anything more than that. Zorro has his incredible swordsmanship.
- 52:17Speaker 1: There could be us Up, but part of Usup's charm
- 52:21Speaker 1: is that he is like a scrappy guy who is
- 52:23Speaker 1: working with very little. If he eats a devil fruit,
- 52:27Speaker 1: it would really change the dynamic there, and that's not
- 52:30Speaker 1: a bad thing necessarily. It would be interesting, but I
- 52:33Speaker 1: kind of don't. The question is very much, how radically
- 52:39Speaker 1: do I believe this show is willing to change what's
- 52:42Speaker 1: going on with the crew? And I feel like maybe
- 52:48Speaker 1: with a show that is this long running, a manga
- 52:50Speaker 1: that's this long running, maybe you do want to like
- 52:55Speaker 1: dramatically change it. Up. If this were something else, I
- 52:58Speaker 1: would think we're definitely not doing this. Nobody is going
- 53:02Speaker 1: to wind up eating it. But sometimes I think that
- 53:07Speaker 1: maybe if there's like a sort of dead spot in
- 53:11Speaker 1: the narrative and you have to inject some life into it,
- 53:14Speaker 1: maybe doing something like this would be the way to
- 53:16Speaker 1: do it. I don't know. Ashley says, we watched this
- 53:24Speaker 1: episode and discussed this as well. I would like Lufy
- 53:27Speaker 1: to just hold on to it for a while and
- 53:29Speaker 1: if he can pull a black Beard, maybe then he
- 53:31Speaker 1: could have Aces as well. Yeah, that was sort of
- 53:35Speaker 1: what I was thinking, was like, maybe there's a way
- 53:37Speaker 1: for him to like get both powers. But and I
- 53:45Speaker 1: would prefer that in a way because of you know,
- 53:48Speaker 1: Lufy and Ace's like connection with each other. But I
- 53:52Speaker 1: also would like, like one of the straw hats that's
- 53:57Speaker 1: sort of underpowered to get more of a fight advantage.
- 54:01Speaker 1: I feel like, really it's not me that I would want,
- 54:07Speaker 1: and I just don't really see that happening. I think
- 54:13Speaker 1: also that the way that a personality sort of seems
- 54:22Speaker 1: to align with the devil fruit in a way not
- 54:26Speaker 1: necessarily always, but like Loofy being a boy made of
- 54:31Speaker 1: rubber now means that he can basically snap back from anything.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Stuff does not affect him, and he is Lucy Goosey,
- 54:41Speaker 1: And if that is not his exact personality, like being
- 54:45Speaker 1: rubber is the perfect metaphor for what his personality is,
- 54:49Speaker 1: like an ace being somebody who had a hot temper
- 54:53Speaker 1: and took like really went hard and was very passionate.
- 54:57Speaker 1: The fire made total sense, not me. I don't feel
- 55:02Speaker 1: like fire makes as much sense with her personality. So
- 55:10Speaker 1: I'm just trying to think, and I don't know. I
- 55:12Speaker 1: don't know. So anyway, this is the scene where we
- 55:19Speaker 1: have the Flamenco dancer and Soanji watching her, just absolutely
- 55:24Speaker 1: enthralled and again this Spanish guitar, it's so good. She
- 55:29Speaker 1: tosses a rose into the crowd and Soanji catches it
- 55:32Speaker 1: and stares at it like it's this like unbelievable prize.
- 55:37Speaker 1: I love that at this point he has like caught
- 55:39Speaker 1: up to Zorro, and so it should be that their
- 55:43Speaker 1: issue is kind of over, but he gets so sidetracked
- 55:47Speaker 1: by this woman that he doesn't notice that Zorro has
- 55:50Speaker 1: taken off again, and once he does, he's just basically like, oh, well,
- 55:53Speaker 1: I tried and he just like leaves it, which I
- 55:57Speaker 1: have to confess I did find very funny because just
- 56:01Speaker 1: the idea of like, ah, well, you know, I put
- 56:05Speaker 1: a lot of effort into that, we had a good run.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Oh well, he even thinks this is the perfect chance
- 56:12Speaker 1: to leave him behind on this island. I mean, I
- 56:16Speaker 1: tried to catch him. Nobody can argue with that. Its
- 56:19Speaker 1: like songie, I am disappointed in you, sir. So this
- 56:26Speaker 1: is when he's walking down Lover's Lane and sees that
- 56:28Speaker 1: there's a bunch of like couples and everybody is making
- 56:32Speaker 1: him jealous. And then all of a sudden, the Flamenco
- 56:35Speaker 1: dancer runs up to him and says, embrace me in
- 56:41Speaker 1: a romantic fashion, and it's because she's trying to hide
- 56:44Speaker 1: from the police. Of course, at first he doesn't get
- 56:47Speaker 1: that's what's happening. And her just running up and saying,
- 56:50Speaker 1: I need your help, Please hold me in a romantic
- 56:53Speaker 1: embrace seems to be the answer to all of his
- 56:56Speaker 1: wildest dreams. So she wraps her arms around him and
- 57:03Speaker 1: it seems like she's kissing him. It's unclear I think
- 57:07Speaker 1: she is. But uh, this was very funny because there
- 57:11Speaker 1: are so many like bits in different pieces of fiction
- 57:15Speaker 1: where people who like kind of are into each other
- 57:18Speaker 1: but like not really confessing it to one another have
- 57:22Speaker 1: to pretend to be in a relationship or pretend to
- 57:24Speaker 1: make out, and then it like you know, makes things
- 57:27Speaker 1: all weird and awkward. So she doesn't like her telling
- 57:37Speaker 1: Soanjy that she did a stab doesn't really seem to
- 57:41Speaker 1: face him too much. He's just so delighted that she's
- 57:44Speaker 1: so passionate. Uh, And she just says, you're okay with stabbing,
- 57:49Speaker 1: which is a very funny sentence. His face is pouring blood,
- 57:55Speaker 1: by the way, and when he finally backs away from
- 57:59Speaker 1: her and like the ground, She's like, oh my god,
- 58:01Speaker 1: did I hurt you? Like, what is what is happening here?
- 58:06Speaker 1: That is a lot of blood And he's just like
- 58:09Speaker 1: it's nothing, and she leans in close and says it
- 58:12Speaker 1: must hurt. And again, I've fallen off a cliff into
- 58:17Speaker 1: the bottomless abyss of love. So I've pretty much talked
- 58:23Speaker 1: about what's going on with him. We'll just go over
- 58:29Speaker 1: to the samurai who was still like running around trying
- 58:31Speaker 1: to figure out where the hell he is. Sanji. He
- 58:34Speaker 1: takes over a restaurant to make a meal for her
- 58:37Speaker 1: and kicks these guys out in a fashion that was
- 58:41Speaker 1: honestly very funny because these dudes are sitting in this
- 58:46Speaker 1: kitchen full of dirty dishes, the place is very grubby,
- 58:51Speaker 1: and the two dudes who work here do not give
- 58:54Speaker 1: a fuck, and he has his little beard on still,
- 58:58Speaker 1: so him just casually being like, I'm gonna cook a
- 59:03Speaker 1: meal for the most beautiful woman alive as they come
- 59:06Speaker 1: at him with like broken bottles and stuff, with this
- 59:10Speaker 1: fucking beard on, It's very funny, so let's see. Okay,
- 59:17Speaker 1: I am just realizing, you know what, I'm not actually
- 59:20Speaker 1: that mad about it, though I was about to say
- 59:22Speaker 1: I'm out of time and I haven't talked about the
- 59:25Speaker 1: final episode of the three, but honestly it's not. There's
- 59:29Speaker 1: not that much to it because this final one is
- 59:33Speaker 1: when Lufy has to sign up for the challenge, and
- 59:41Speaker 1: he looks like an old man, so they don't even
- 59:43Speaker 1: want to let him do it, but he insists he
- 59:47Speaker 1: isn't going to let anybody know who he really is
- 59:50Speaker 1: and signs his name Lucy. He starts to write Lufy,
- 59:56Speaker 1: even though they just talked about this, but then changes
- 59:59Speaker 1: it to Lucy, so now he's walking around with the
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: name Lucy Sure, and he goes into the area where
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: all of the fighters are kept waiting, and of course
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: they're all these like hulking beast men, and then Lufy
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: comes in at maybe a tenth of their size and
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: looking old as hell. So somebody immediately picks fight with
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: him because they feel like it's an insult that he
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: is even here, and Lufy lays this dude out almost
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: gets disqualified for it. But then somebody else steps in
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: and defends him and is like, no, that other dude
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: just picked a fight that he couldn't fucking handle, so
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: he should be disqualified even though he is unconscious. This
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: was one of the moments where I had my laugh
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: out lad moment. It was the line delivery, because one
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: of the guys said, you don't know if he'd beat him,
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: maybe the guy just like tripped over himself and fell,
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: and his friend replies that wouldn't embed him into the
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: ground with like that exact sort of inflection, and it
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: cracked me up. I was dying, you guys, oh my god.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: So we don't actually get the start of the fight,
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: of course, yet there's also this weird little like wind
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: up toy man, and he and Frankie have a little
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: bit of an encounter, and this dude has a vendetta
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: apparently against the the Don Juan Pirates, the don Quixote Pirates.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: It's the don Quixote Pyrus, right, There's something going on
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: with him, and he and Frankie sort of become buds,
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: which makes a lot of sense because he is a
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: toy and Frankie being so mechanical, there's probably a lot
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: of like shared interests that they could potentially have. And
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: let's see he says, oh yeah, Frankie is asking him,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: like about the the factory, and this guy keeps shouting
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: and Frankie is like, how do you turn your damn
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: volume down? Oh my god, I'm a let's see. If
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: you don't know, can you tell me anything about the
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: smile factory? You want to know about the factory? It
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: with his hands waving in the air. This guy's funny. Eventually,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: when they say that he is very serious, he seems
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: to take that almost personally, like, I, no, toys are
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: meant to be fun. There's no such thing as a
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: serious toy. And I was like, there are men across
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: the world with giant cars that would disagree with you,
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: But I digress. So yeah, that's pretty much where we
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: leave things, is that we're going to have a like
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: Battle Royale style opening rumble in a very Hunger Games
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: sort of vibe, and then those who are going to
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: be standing after that in the different blocks are going
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: to be the ones that continue forward. So I'm looking
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: forward to seeing that. And Lufy gets himself a big
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: rig of all of this extremely heavy armor and whatnot.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: But this dude strolls in with this blonde hair named Cavendish,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: and he insists that he is supposed to get the
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: fruit because such a beautiful power should go to somebody
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: who is as beautiful as him, and Cavendish is so
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: much He's just I'm very very eager to see how
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: he does in a fight, I really am, because all
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: I can think of is like Boa Hancock and the
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: fact that she could just look at people and make
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: them just not want to attack her or fall in
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: love with her. And Cavendish straight up looks like a woman.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: Like his animation style. This is the exact kind of
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: animation that they use on all the women. So this
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: dude is not it at all to me. But clearly
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: for the sake of this. All the ladies are very
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: into him, and even some of the mail guards are
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: like damn as he walks by. So I guess we'll
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: have to see what kind of fighter Cavendish is. Yeah,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: I don't know. I uh, I'm interested, though, Guys. I'm
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: looking forward to a fight where Lufy is seen as
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: an old man too, because like he can't use his
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: devil fruit powers. That's the whole thing is that they
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: are all supposed to not have powers yet, and that's
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: why they're fighting, to guess some So watching him try
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: not to use them, I mean, it's loofy. If this
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: weren't what it is, I would think that he would
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: forget immediately and use his powers almost instantly, and everybody
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: would figure out who he was because he's so careless.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: But because this is for something that Ace had, I
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: feel like he may take this more seriously and actually
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: managed to keep it under wraps. We'll see, We'll see,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: but I am over time, so I have got to
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: wrap up. And thank you again to Ashley and Alana
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: for coming and hanging out with me. I appreciate it
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: a lot. Thank you to Florian for commissioning this one
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: and until next time did the lou motherfuckers That was
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: an unspoiled network podcast
