- 0:48Speaker 5: Well, tell me how good the Patriots offense is going
- 0:51Speaker 5: to be, and then I'll tell you how many times

- 1:03Speaker 5: I think Parcels respected the media, especially the older guys,
- 1:07Speaker 5: like they're kind of his kind of guy.
- 1:10Speaker 2: You know, I don't.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I'm just picturing the old newspaper guys smoking cigarettes.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a lot of that. Oh and then
- 1:17Speaker 2: when did it?
- 1:18Speaker 7: Evan go maybe felt like he emptied the clip of
- 1:20Speaker 7: football knowledge today after Catch twenty two and he had
- 1:22Speaker 7: nothing more to say.
- 1:23Speaker 6: I don't think that Evan's ever emptied the clip.
- 1:27Speaker 8: This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website. For deals,

- 1:36Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:38Speaker 5: It is Thursday here at Gillette Stadium, and we're getting
- 1:41Speaker 5: closer to a big weekend here at Gillette Stadium.
- 1:46Speaker 2: We'll start with Saturday.
- 1:48Speaker 5: We've got Bill Parcells and Julian Edelman coming in to
- 1:51Speaker 5: be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame. No Socks
- 1:55Speaker 5: and myself are going to be sitting down with Bill
- 1:57Speaker 5: Parcells to do a patch from the past episode on
- 2:00Speaker 5: the podcast.
- 2:00Speaker 2: So I can't wait for that.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I'd be intimidated, not gonna lie at.
- 2:04Speaker 2: This point, I'm not back then, I would.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Be yeah, you know him though you had a relationship
- 2:09Speaker 4: with him, because I felt that way, I am not
- 2:11Speaker 4: going to.
- 2:11Speaker 6: Be able to to join and uh, I can make
- 2:14Speaker 6: it about it. No, I was telling Mike.
- 2:16Speaker 4: I legitimately I would be yeah, on a little on
- 2:21Speaker 4: edge talking to a guy like.
- 2:23Speaker 2: At this point, I think I can take him, yeah,
- 2:26Speaker 2: like physically, like if it came to that, you know,
- 2:32Speaker 2: I hope it doesn't. But anyway, no, socks would be.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Uh he caught in the middle of that one. That
- 2:36Speaker 1: would be something.
- 2:36Speaker 2: And so that'll be fun. That'll be fun.
- 2:40Speaker 5: And then of course on Sunday we've got the big
- 2:43Speaker 5: game one o'clock Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 2:46Speaker 2: H Up to this point, I don't really even know
- 2:50Speaker 2: what my pick is going to be. No, really, no,
- 2:52Speaker 2: I'm still I'm still debating.
- 2:54Speaker 6: He doesn't know what his pick is going to be.
- 2:56Speaker 6: I know what his pick is.
- 2:59Speaker 9: Right down. We'll see if you're right tortured.
- 3:02Speaker 2: So so.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Yes, yes, we will be doing the picks later. It's Alex,
- 3:08Speaker 5: it's Deuce, it's me, it's Paul, it's Evan, it's Alex
- 3:12Speaker 5: and Matt. Back in the booth getting the show done.
- 3:16Speaker 5: So what do we what do we know?
- 3:18Speaker 2: What do we know?
- 3:18Speaker 5: What's changed since yesterday at two o'clock when we ended.
- 3:21Speaker 10: A show Christian Gonzales was that practice?
- 3:24Speaker 6: Okay, but we knew that at two o'clock.
- 3:26Speaker 1: But let him go, let him go.
- 3:28Speaker 6: I'm trying to change. We didn't see him.
- 3:30Speaker 2: We didn't actually have evidence of physical eyes on him practice. Yeah,
- 3:36Speaker 2: I think we did.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Didn't do a lot.
- 3:40Speaker 11: There is no way you could have seen him before
- 3:42Speaker 11: two o'clock at practice yesterday.
- 3:44Speaker 6: That's when you guys were up there, right, we were, no.
- 3:46Speaker 10: We were out there after the show ended.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Evan was for his escort when.
- 3:51Speaker 6: I guess I made the mistake of listening to the
- 3:52Speaker 6: head coach tell me he was going.
- 3:54Speaker 2: To be at practice anyway.
- 3:56Speaker 4: But that was when Fred said after the press coming,
- 3:58Speaker 4: it's no real news there, right, He just said that
- 4:00Speaker 4: Consunds is gonna practice, It's gonna do some stuff.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah, So he was listed as limited.
- 4:06Speaker 11: He was listed as limited officially. We saw just individuals
- 4:10Speaker 11: and we saw him go through a couple of drills,
- 4:12Speaker 11: but nothing, nothing full speed or crazy at all. So
- 4:18Speaker 11: we did see him in Carlon Davis back together though,
- 4:20Speaker 11: doing the jugs, machines and stuff like.
- 4:22Speaker 10: They were very very.
- 4:27Speaker 11: But I wouldn't necessarily glean much in terms of how,
- 4:32Speaker 11: I know the question how is he moving?
- 4:34Speaker 10: And like all, we didn't see him moving at full speed?
- 4:37Speaker 5: Now, there were portions that you didn't see at practice, right, yes,
- 4:42Speaker 5: So I mean do we know if he participated in those?
- 4:46Speaker 5: I mean it said limited, but who knows what that
- 4:49Speaker 5: really means.
- 4:50Speaker 11: Yeah, there's no way of us really knowing when exactly
- 4:52Speaker 11: they cut off his participation. So no, but we were
- 4:57Speaker 11: out there through individual periods and he was doing some
- 5:01Speaker 11: of the cornerback drills, you know, the different things that
- 5:06Speaker 11: they do at the beginning of practice there to warm
- 5:09Speaker 11: up and things like that. And you know, from what
- 5:13Speaker 11: we saw, like obviously again not full speed, he was
- 5:17Speaker 11: moving pretty well. So I think that there's some optimism that,
- 5:22Speaker 11: you know, he's headed back into the right direction here
- 5:25Speaker 11: with everything.
- 5:26Speaker 5: What percentage would you guys put him, you know, participating
- 5:30Speaker 5: in the game, Uh, ten percent?
- 5:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Don't know, maybe maybe a little more forty Yeah, I'm
- 5:42Speaker 4: the most optimistic that never happens.
- 5:44Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, I mean maybe I just like to pleasantly
- 5:47Speaker 7: be surprised if he were able to go, but he.
- 5:49Speaker 6: Doesn't want to be heard Again.
- 5:51Speaker 11: I don't wonder at what point you could only do
- 5:54Speaker 11: so much in practice, and he hasn't had a preseason,
- 5:57Speaker 11: he hasn't had a training camp really, so in order
- 6:00Speaker 11: to get him live reps, the only way you're going
- 6:02Speaker 11: to be able to do that is in the game.
- 6:03Speaker 11: So even if you just put him out there on
- 6:05Speaker 11: third downs or something like that, just to get his
- 6:07Speaker 11: feet wet and get him back up, you know, into
- 6:10Speaker 11: a game and into live reps. I just wonder if
- 6:13Speaker 11: maybe that is the path that they choose, and so
- 6:16Speaker 11: they're not going to throw him out there and have
- 6:18Speaker 11: him play one hundred percent of the snaps on Sunday,
- 6:20Speaker 11: But can you throw him out there and you know,
- 6:22Speaker 11: maybe he plays twenty snaps or he's in the package,
- 6:24Speaker 11: or he's on third down or whatever the case may be,
- 6:28Speaker 11: just to get him back into a game.
- 6:30Speaker 7: Let's get into the man zone thing a little bit
- 6:32Speaker 7: we talked about on the preview. You know, I think
- 6:35Speaker 7: Rogers facing a high amount of man coverage, which you
- 6:37Speaker 7: know makes sense. He understands where the holes in the
- 6:39Speaker 7: zones are and the Patriots have struggled and they didn't
- 6:42Speaker 7: play a lot of man defense last week, but the
- 6:44Speaker 7: first week they did. And you know, to have Gonzalez
- 6:46Speaker 7: back and enable you to play man and you know,
- 6:49Speaker 7: maybe allow Rogers to hold the ball a little bit
- 6:52Speaker 7: longer with good coverage, that's going to allow you, you know,
- 6:54Speaker 7: your four man pass rush to get home. So I
- 6:56Speaker 7: think it's a big game about that those man zone
- 6:59Speaker 7: splits on both sides of the ball and on and
- 7:01Speaker 7: blitzing like you know, I think that you can't really
- 7:04Speaker 7: blitz aeron Rodgers. He's going to know, so the front
- 7:06Speaker 7: four have to get pressure and on the other side
- 7:08Speaker 7: of the ball. Drake's seen a ton of zone and
- 7:10Speaker 7: Pittsburgh plays a lot of man, So I think this
- 7:11Speaker 7: is gonna be a different game for Drake.
- 7:13Speaker 1: He's gonna have to you know.
- 7:14Speaker 7: We talked about Pop Douglass maybe coming back in the
- 7:16Speaker 7: mix with his ability to get open, maybe Kyle Williams.
- 7:19Speaker 7: But they're gonna blitz and they're gonna play man, and
- 7:21Speaker 7: so I think there's gonna be a lot on Drake
- 7:23Speaker 7: getting the protection set.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Knowing where to go with the ball. I think it
- 7:26Speaker 1: could be, you know, a chance for Drake to.
- 7:28Speaker 7: You know, Josh seemed to have a pretty good beat
- 7:30Speaker 7: on this offense or this defense.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Excuse me.
- 7:32Speaker 7: But at the same time, I think Drake's there's gonna
- 7:34Speaker 7: be a little bit more on Drake's plate. Can he
- 7:36Speaker 7: execute what Josh wants to do against these guys?
- 7:38Speaker 12: Uh?
- 7:39Speaker 2: Do you think they're gonna be paying special attention to
- 7:42Speaker 2: t J Watt the for him of double teams? And
- 7:44Speaker 2: will they tell Drake, hey, don't worry about him, we
- 7:46Speaker 2: got him.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I mean, I hope.
- 7:47Speaker 7: So, you know, it seems like a matter of time
- 7:49Speaker 7: before they get right, and you know, they have too
- 7:51Speaker 7: much talent I think to be one of the worst
- 7:53Speaker 7: defenses in football.
- 7:54Speaker 1: So don't let them get right against you.
- 7:57Speaker 7: And again, I think a lot is on Drake being
- 7:59Speaker 7: able to pross us what they're doing, where they're going
- 8:01Speaker 7: to be blitzing from you know, TJ.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Wats just such a simple piece of it.
- 8:04Speaker 7: You know that he doesn't need to blitz, you know,
- 8:06Speaker 7: and he can just win by himself.
- 8:07Speaker 1: So don't let them get going this week.
- 8:09Speaker 7: Don't let them start to have the kind of game
- 8:11Speaker 7: where they get some momentum and they start to, you know,
- 8:13Speaker 7: feel themselves a little bit.
- 8:14Speaker 4: So back to Fred's question about what you know if
- 8:17Speaker 4: you found out it, you know, after two o'clock, I
- 8:19Speaker 4: would go on to that injury stuff both ways. First,
- 8:24Speaker 4: I'm going to go with the Patriots and TJ. Watt
- 8:26Speaker 4: you mentioned did you happen to notice like Morgan Moses
- 8:30Speaker 4: and does he look the same as he did last week?
- 8:32Speaker 6: You know moving? I know he's still on the injury
- 8:34Speaker 6: report with a foot.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 6: I was actually slimping pretty good after the game.
- 8:38Speaker 11: I was actually pretty shocked that he was out there
- 8:40Speaker 11: at all yesterday because he wasn't last week. You didn't
- 8:42Speaker 11: practice on Wednesday last week, and then after the game,
- 8:45Speaker 11: like you said, I think Doug Ki to the Herald
- 8:48Speaker 11: said that he saw him in a boot. I didn't
- 8:50Speaker 11: see that, but maybe Doug did. And you know, then
- 8:55Speaker 11: to have him see him get out there already on Wednesday,
- 8:57Speaker 11: I was pretty surprised that he was even participate.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Yeah, that's something to monitor if he you know how
- 9:03Speaker 4: I mean, obviously you're not at one hundred percent, you
- 9:06Speaker 4: know now, but how much help.
- 9:09Speaker 6: Does he need? Is he able to go?
- 9:11Speaker 4: Because that could put the third rookie in the offensive
- 9:15Speaker 4: on the offensive line in Marcus Bryant, and I agree
- 9:18Speaker 4: with Mike TJ. Watt's too good of a player to
- 9:20Speaker 4: be held down. But on the good news injury wise
- 9:25Speaker 4: is there were a couple of members of that secondary
- 9:27Speaker 4: for Pittsburgh that have been out and they both didn't
- 9:30Speaker 4: participate yesterday. And Joey Porter their best corner and Deshaun
- 9:33Speaker 4: Elliott their best safety, they didn't They didn't participate in
- 9:37Speaker 4: practice on Wednesday. That's usually a sign that they're probably
- 9:41Speaker 4: not going to be available for the game. We'll see
- 9:43Speaker 4: if it updates today and they get out there and
- 9:45Speaker 4: they're limited today. Tomlin, I guess on Monday said he
- 9:50Speaker 4: gave them both a chance. They haven't played yet, so yeah,
- 9:55Speaker 4: they got I think Elliott got hurt in the open
- 9:57Speaker 4: or I'm not sure if Porter got hurt in the preseason,
- 10:00Speaker 4: were in the opener, but they didn't play last week,
- 10:02Speaker 4: neither one. That could be a huge, huge difference when
- 10:06Speaker 4: you're missing you know, let's call it two fifths of
- 10:09Speaker 4: your secondary. Let's say everybody plays five defensive backs, missing
- 10:13Speaker 4: two starters out of you five, that that hurts you.
- 10:15Speaker 6: To look at how much Gonzales has affected the Patriots.
- 10:18Speaker 11: Yeah, it's made them play Ramsey a lot more on
- 10:21Speaker 11: the outside, and I think they envisioned when they traded
- 10:24Speaker 11: for him. I think they wanted to play Ramsey in
- 10:26Speaker 11: the slot, and.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Even Slay has seen better days. He's a good player,
- 10:29Speaker 4: but you know, he's seen better days.
- 10:30Speaker 11: So I think they wanted it to be Joey Porter
- 10:33Speaker 11: Junior on one side, Slay on the other, and Ramsey
- 10:35Speaker 11: playing the star the nickel role, which he's an amazing
- 10:39Speaker 11: ad He's really good at that, and then they've had
- 10:41Speaker 11: to play him a little bit more on the outside.
- 10:43Speaker 11: And last week actually against Seattle, he had a rough game.
- 10:45Speaker 11: I know you had to pick, but gave up like
- 10:47Speaker 11: one hundred and twenty five yards in coverage or something
- 10:49Speaker 11: like that. So I don't think that Ramsey at this
- 10:52Speaker 11: stage of his career is like a pure outside corner
- 10:55Speaker 11: man to man anymore. So JSN Yeah, JSN and Cooper
- 10:58Speaker 11: Cup So I think that they would ideally like to
- 11:02Speaker 11: play Ramsey more in the slot, but they can't because
- 11:05Speaker 11: Porter is not healthy. So it's that's sort of what
- 11:08Speaker 11: has happened there. Alex Heisman is probably not going to
- 11:11Speaker 11: play in this.
- 11:12Speaker 6: He's definitely out.
- 11:13Speaker 11: Yeah, so that that's good news. As well for the Patriots.
- 11:18Speaker 11: Herbig's not a slouch though. He's a good rusher, but
- 11:21Speaker 11: he's not Alex Highsmith. So that's you know, they are
- 11:24Speaker 11: a little bit dub they are.
- 11:27Speaker 6: All right, well, yeah, it's five five starters.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Still don't answer my question whether or not they're going
- 11:32Speaker 2: to double team t J. Watt.
- 11:34Speaker 6: Well, I don't know what the game plan is.
- 11:36Speaker 1: What do you think they'll be part of it?
- 11:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean there'll be times to do that. I
- 11:39Speaker 7: think stick Connor Henry over there and make sure you
- 11:41Speaker 7: get a chip on him. But I think Josh is
- 11:43Speaker 7: clever at you know, it's not every single time we're
- 11:45Speaker 7: going to have to chip him. We're running away from him.
- 11:47Speaker 7: Sometimes maybe you're trying to trap him sometimes. Is you
- 11:50Speaker 7: know a wide array of things I think they can
- 11:52Speaker 7: do to prevent him from you know, just getting getting
- 11:55Speaker 7: that first sack maybe in the first quarter and then
- 11:57Speaker 7: feel like all right now starting to feel it here.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I come like that's what you want to look out for.
- 12:01Speaker 7: But it's interesting with you know what Paul saying that,
- 12:04Speaker 7: I think the two defensive approaches mirror each other pretty well.
- 12:07Speaker 7: I think both sides are going to want to play man,
- 12:09Speaker 7: both sides are probably not going to have exactly the
- 12:11Speaker 7: right personnel that they'd like to do that, So who
- 12:14Speaker 7: can hold up better? And I mean I think, as
- 12:15Speaker 7: Evan has been saying, maybe like the Patriots matchup with
- 12:19Speaker 7: having the size of Carlton Davis to put on on
- 12:21Speaker 7: dk intelect spots and you know, you're not too afraid
- 12:24Speaker 7: of Calvin Austin with Marcus Jones. So you know, I
- 12:27Speaker 7: still think Alex Austin, those guys they got they got
- 12:29Speaker 7: to be a little better. I mean, Alex Austin got
- 12:30Speaker 7: got picked on himself last week, so you know second
- 12:33Speaker 7: late to some of those.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Looked like he was about to have a couple of
- 12:35Speaker 1: pass breakups.
- 12:36Speaker 7: But secondary's got to be better. They've got to be
- 12:38Speaker 7: more in sync. And you know it starts with the
- 12:40Speaker 7: linebackers too. You know that communication has got to improve.
- 12:43Speaker 7: And you hope with with with reps that their own
- 12:46Speaker 7: defense gets a little bit more well dispersed.
- 12:48Speaker 2: It's so funny how things change.
- 12:50Speaker 5: You know, during the off season, it was like, you know,
- 12:52Speaker 5: how's the offense going to be and defense is going
- 12:55Speaker 5: to be better, don't worry about the defense, And then
- 12:56Speaker 5: we come out of this game, and it's like, well,
- 12:58Speaker 5: the offense is looking okay, what's gonna happen with the defense?
- 13:02Speaker 11: Yeah, it's like a yeah, And I would say that
- 13:05Speaker 11: Rabel spent a lot of time with the offense in
- 13:07Speaker 11: training camp and without Terrell Williams. Like I also wonder if,
- 13:12Speaker 11: like maybe Rabel needs to spend more time in the
- 13:15Speaker 11: defense meetings and make sure that they get that side
- 13:18Speaker 11: of the ball buttoned up, because, uh, you know, you
- 13:20Speaker 11: mentioned TJ. Watt. He doesn't have a sack, but it's
- 13:23Speaker 11: TJ Watt. He's been disruptive, he's been, you know, a
- 13:27Speaker 11: problem in the first couple of weeks of the season anyways.
- 13:30Speaker 11: And you know, they've done a nice job with keeping
- 13:33Speaker 11: the pressure rate down, uh without necessarily you know, always
- 13:38Speaker 11: winning their blocks, which I think is a scheme thing.
- 13:41Speaker 10: It's a McDaniel's thing. You know.
- 13:42Speaker 11: Credit to Drake May a little bit for that as well.
- 13:45Speaker 11: But right now they're they're ninth in the league in
- 13:47Speaker 11: pressure rate allowed, which is which is good. They're twenty
- 13:50Speaker 11: fifth in the league in pass blocking win rate. So
- 13:53Speaker 11: there's like a discrepancy there of how are they so
- 13:56Speaker 11: low in the league and win rate, but they're so high,
- 13:59Speaker 11: you know, and on the good side with pressure rate,
- 14:01Speaker 11: and to me, that is scheme.
- 14:03Speaker 10: It's it's there.
- 14:04Speaker 11: They know that the offensive line is not going to
- 14:06Speaker 11: pass protect for three four seconds, so they're moving the
- 14:09Speaker 11: pocket and they're getting the ball out and they're doing
- 14:12Speaker 11: different things to try to help the offensive line along here,
- 14:16Speaker 11: and it's paid dividends so far. I mean, I think
- 14:18Speaker 11: Max Crosby made his plays in week one, but I
- 14:20Speaker 11: don't feel like he took the game over.
- 14:23Speaker 6: And he was good, but he didn't dominate.
- 14:25Speaker 11: Right, And you know, last week, maybe they you know,
- 14:27Speaker 11: Jalen Phillips isn't Max Crosby er or TJ.
- 14:30Speaker 10: Watt, but he's not a slouch. You know, he's not
- 14:31Speaker 10: a bad player.
- 14:32Speaker 4: They have good pass rushers and they need none of
- 14:36Speaker 4: the three of them really impacted the game, you know,
- 14:40Speaker 4: to a negative degree.
- 14:41Speaker 6: Yeah, every time.
- 14:42Speaker 11: In like third and long, when they they drop back past,
- 14:45Speaker 11: they are chipping a lot. They're the running backs of
- 14:48Speaker 11: the tight ends or are staying in for an extra
- 14:50Speaker 11: beat and and chipping the ends and trying to help
- 14:52Speaker 11: out Moses and Campbell in that way. So I think
- 14:55Speaker 11: that it's the overall approach to managing pass rush has
- 15:00Speaker 11: been pretty solid for the first couple of weeks. So
- 15:03Speaker 11: if you're going up against a guy like TJ. Watt,
- 15:05Speaker 11: I guess you have that.
- 15:07Speaker 5: Henderson had a couple hold calls in past blocking last week.
- 15:13Speaker 5: Is that just the speed of the game is different
- 15:15Speaker 5: than college.
- 15:16Speaker 6: I think you yeah.
- 15:17Speaker 11: I mean I had him with two sacks allowed in
- 15:19Speaker 11: a couple of holes, and then he also got called
- 15:21Speaker 11: for a hold on special teams. Although we're able kind
- 15:24Speaker 11: of explained that one away yesterday during his press conference.
- 15:27Speaker 11: But I don't know what it is because he was
- 15:30Speaker 11: great at it in college and it doesn't seem like
- 15:33Speaker 11: it would be a physical thing based off of what
- 15:36Speaker 11: he was doing in college. But we talked a little
- 15:38Speaker 11: bit about this the other day. You know the dual
- 15:41Speaker 11: read system that they run for the running backs, where
- 15:44Speaker 11: they're really reading off of two different players and having
- 15:46Speaker 11: to decipher post snap who they're going to block. And
- 15:50Speaker 11: when you have a complex system like that, then it
- 15:53Speaker 11: probably is mental where he's not entirely sure who his
- 15:56Speaker 11: guy is and then he's got to react on the
- 15:58Speaker 11: fly to who's blitzing and who's dropping. And the other
- 16:03Speaker 11: sack that he had, like hunter, Henry chipped the end
- 16:05Speaker 11: and then was releasing down the field and it was
- 16:08Speaker 11: a play action pass and Henderson just kind of ran
- 16:10Speaker 11: right by the guy and didn't adjust, you know, to
- 16:13Speaker 11: the assignment. So I think a lot of it is
- 16:16Speaker 11: mental right now.
- 16:17Speaker 5: Okay, all right, key on White, Any idea what the
- 16:21Speaker 5: illness is that's keeping him off the field.
- 16:24Speaker 1: He's watching practice in street cloths yesterday, so I don't
- 16:27Speaker 1: know what that was.
- 16:29Speaker 12: But there's a bad respiratory thing going around, so you guys,
- 16:35Speaker 12: hold on.
- 16:36Speaker 5: So he was watching practice and street clothes? Was he
- 16:40Speaker 5: with the other guys?
- 16:41Speaker 2: Why?
- 16:42Speaker 5: I mean.
- 16:43Speaker 11: He was he was like behind like because the reason.
- 16:51Speaker 5: It's a contagious type of illness that would make sense.
- 16:54Speaker 9: I've only been in the locker.
- 16:56Speaker 10: If I knew what it was, I could say.
- 16:59Speaker 9: I don't know if he guys saw him any other days, but.
- 17:02Speaker 5: If he was like in the mix with guys, then
- 17:04Speaker 5: obviously whatever the illnesses isn't contagious.
- 17:07Speaker 10: I yeah, yeah, I don't know.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I mean, I don't even know what to speculate. I mean,
- 17:13Speaker 1: I don't know, but I.
- 17:14Speaker 4: Don't I don't know, I don't want to, I don't know. Yeah,
- 17:18Speaker 4: is there something going on.
- 17:20Speaker 6: I mean, I don't know.
- 17:20Speaker 2: We well, you know, I'm just trying to peel the.
- 17:24Speaker 7: D I mean, if he was I don't know, it's
- 17:26Speaker 7: I mean, I think if he still wasn't around the team,
- 17:28Speaker 7: maybe I would think something was up to like it
- 17:30Speaker 7: seemed weird.
- 17:30Speaker 1: If something was up and then he was just watching maybe,
- 17:32Speaker 1: But I don't know.
- 17:34Speaker 7: I mean, he's an interesting player, and you know, I
- 17:36Speaker 7: don't think everybody had a certain view of him coming
- 17:39Speaker 7: into the season, and it's kind of been disappointing.
- 17:42Speaker 6: So I just I mean, it's different.
- 17:43Speaker 4: I mean, it's not common to miss games with an illness,
- 17:48Speaker 4: let alone, you know, have it spill into a second week.
- 17:51Speaker 4: I have no idea what it is, though, but I
- 17:52Speaker 4: just I just think it's a little different.
- 17:55Speaker 1: It is, Yeah, no question, all right.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Eight five five Pats five hundred is the hot Lie
- 18:00Speaker 5: podcasts at Patriots dot Com. Is the email address during halftime?
- 18:07Speaker 2: You and Evan do sat down with Garrett Bradbury.
- 18:11Speaker 6: We did.
- 18:11Speaker 7: Yeah, we got to sit down with him yesterday, a
- 18:13Speaker 7: little brief chat that was It was funn He was
- 18:15Speaker 7: just coming off the practice field. So I think we'll
- 18:17Speaker 7: play that at halftime. Play that. Yeah, yeah, nice.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Guy asked him, you know a little bit about I
- 18:23Speaker 1: haven't asked some football questions.
- 18:25Speaker 7: No, I asked just about being Minnesota, being the NFC North,
- 18:28Speaker 7: getting a close up look at Aaron Rodgers over the years,
- 18:30Speaker 7: and you know, clearly has a lot of respect for him.
- 18:33Speaker 1: And you know, I.
- 18:34Speaker 7: Jokingly said it, but I mean right now, if you
- 18:36Speaker 7: go by the PFF numbers, he's.
- 18:37Speaker 6: The number one pass blocking center in the league.
- 18:39Speaker 1: So, you know, nice start for him.
- 18:41Speaker 7: I don't know, again, I'm getting too much into those
- 18:43Speaker 7: stats at the early part of this, but he's been
- 18:46Speaker 7: really good. I think he got a lot of criticism,
- 18:48Speaker 7: you know, during the summer of is he the guy
- 18:50Speaker 7: and are they you know, he was locked in a
- 18:52Speaker 7: competition right so, but played pretty well the first two weeks.
- 18:56Speaker 7: We'll see if it continues. This week we challenge with
- 18:59Speaker 7: with that big monster. He's gonna be lining up across from.
- 19:02Speaker 11: I'm surprised that they haven't like tested him a whole
- 19:04Speaker 11: lot in the first two weeks of the season, and.
- 19:07Speaker 10: I would have thought they're down.
- 19:09Speaker 11: You put a pass rusher right over him and see
- 19:11Speaker 11: if he can pass protect and the Raiders and the
- 19:14Speaker 11: the Dolphins didn't really do that, which was kind of surprising.
- 19:17Speaker 11: But he's been sneakily good for the most part. I mean,
- 19:21Speaker 11: I thought the run game stuff was a little so
- 19:23Speaker 11: so in Week one, but last week was better. And
- 19:26Speaker 11: the pass blocking has been clean. Uh, you know, it's
- 19:29Speaker 11: been better than expected.
- 19:30Speaker 4: And the Dolphins had Steeler, who's a pretty good Yeah,
- 19:34Speaker 4: but he was rushing on the guards a lot like
- 19:36Speaker 4: he was at all.
- 19:37Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 19:37Speaker 11: I'm not trying to like say that brad Berry's been
- 19:39Speaker 11: you know, discredit anything that he's doing. I'm just I'm
- 19:42Speaker 11: just saying, like, it's not exactly like he's got Vince
- 19:45Speaker 11: will Fork over his nose and like he's got it.
- 19:47Speaker 11: You know, it hasn't right, It hasn't exactly been that.
- 19:51Speaker 11: But uh, you know, the one thing I would I
- 19:53Speaker 11: thought was cool that Bradberry said in our interview was
- 19:56Speaker 11: I was asking him about Mike rabels involvement with the
- 19:59Speaker 11: offensive and he said he's the most involved head coach
- 20:03Speaker 11: in the offensive line that he's ever had. And I
- 20:06Speaker 11: really felt like that just kind of stands out to
- 20:11Speaker 11: speaks to the importance of that position group to Rabel
- 20:14Speaker 11: and that you know, tone setting like is kind of
- 20:17Speaker 11: what he was talking about in the identity of the
- 20:19Speaker 11: team and all that kind of stuff. And I guess Rabel,
- 20:22Speaker 11: I don't want to give away the whole thing, but
- 20:24Speaker 11: Rabel early on right said, got into the offensive line
- 20:28Speaker 11: room and said, like this is like the the intensity
- 20:33Speaker 11: and like the message that we want to send and
- 20:35Speaker 11: the type of football that we want to play. Like
- 20:38Speaker 11: starts in this room like these you are the guys
- 20:40Speaker 11: that are going to set the tone, the physical tone,
- 20:42Speaker 11: for the rest of the football team. And so it's
- 20:45Speaker 11: clearly very important to Vrabel that this offensive line gets
- 20:49Speaker 11: sorted out and that they fix what's been a very
- 20:53Speaker 11: bad offensive line for the last couple of years. And
- 20:55Speaker 11: the stats, at least through two weeks have really bared
- 20:58Speaker 11: that out. They've been much better up front on the
- 21:01Speaker 11: offensive line for the first couple of weeks.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Okay, what quick click story. I had to like hearing
- 21:07Speaker 1: him say that.
- 21:07Speaker 7: I flashed back to you know, when I played high
- 21:09Speaker 7: school football and I played tackle at this size.
- 21:11Speaker 6: He's always got to make it about him, Yeah, what
- 21:13Speaker 6: does this have to.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Do with your It's it's funny.
- 21:16Speaker 7: We were terrible and I remember, like before our first
- 21:19Speaker 7: game because I've been practicing for.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Like a week. I didn't really know what I was
- 21:21Speaker 1: doing all that much.
- 21:22Speaker 7: And the coach you could tell like he just loved
- 21:25Speaker 7: his high school football experience so much. You grew up
- 21:27Speaker 7: in Pennsylvania, it was so serious, and here we are
- 21:28Speaker 7: at Vermont Academy, a small school where like you were
- 21:31Speaker 7: begging every kid you possibly could to play football.
- 21:33Speaker 1: And I remember him.
- 21:34Speaker 7: Being like, it all starts with us, you guys with
- 21:36Speaker 7: the Hogs, like all you guys got to lead the tone.
- 21:38Speaker 7: And I'm looking around like I don't even know what
- 21:40Speaker 7: the hell I'm doing on our coach. And then we
- 21:42Speaker 7: ended up like losing every game but one, and it
- 21:45Speaker 7: was I just I felt so disappointed in him, where
- 21:47Speaker 7: He's like it all starts with you guys, and I'm like, oh,
- 21:49Speaker 7: we don't know what they want me.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Like I started three days ago. Coach, I'm like, I
- 21:54Speaker 1: don't even know how to block.
- 21:55Speaker 4: I mean, if it was someone to run the power point,
- 21:57Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm just looking at the hockey only please.
- 22:00Speaker 5: Don't get it's just like putting sharpness put in.
- 22:05Speaker 1: It felt like good good memories. We were terrible and
- 22:11Speaker 1: I was a horrible, horrible.
- 22:13Speaker 7: Tackle both ways, both ways, defensive tackle, offensive tackle, and
- 22:17Speaker 7: you wouldn't any better on one side of that. And I
- 22:19Speaker 7: don't even know what I was doing, Paul. I would
- 22:20Speaker 7: just try to get in the way of guys. But man,
- 22:22Speaker 7: it was you know.
- 22:24Speaker 1: There's like there's a very few pictures exist.
- 22:26Speaker 7: Of me actually playing high school football, and in one
- 22:28Speaker 7: of them, I'm in a four point stance and it's like, oh,
- 22:30Speaker 7: that guy is not getting off the ground. Like you
- 22:31Speaker 7: could just tell I had absolutely no flexibility and like
- 22:34Speaker 7: all they had to do was just kind of like push.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Me down and I would be out of the way.
- 22:37Speaker 7: Oh yeah, I no leverage, no, no leverage, no, you know,
- 22:41Speaker 7: no no, Like there was like, you know, guy's getting
- 22:43Speaker 7: the four point stage, like that guy's about to explode.
- 22:45Speaker 6: Like I was not expended. All I'm thinking it was
- 22:47Speaker 6: like Bradley Cooper and wedding crashes.
- 22:49Speaker 1: No, that's what it was.
- 22:50Speaker 7: It looked like just like some person just like bending
- 22:52Speaker 7: over to touch the ground with their tip the tips
- 22:54Speaker 7: of their fingers.
- 22:55Speaker 1: But like it's like, but no, it's.
- 22:56Speaker 10: Supposed to be like you're like cocked, You're ready to go.
- 22:59Speaker 1: You know you're gonna explode the ball. No, no, no, I.
- 23:01Speaker 7: Was like, and then I'd stand straight up and then
- 23:03Speaker 7: you know, they just blocked me into oblivion.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I remember Williston like, that's that guy killed me. And
- 23:07Speaker 1: I remember at halftime being like, I don't want to
- 23:09Speaker 1: I don't want to go back out there. I don't
- 23:10Speaker 1: want to go do this for another took will. He
- 23:12Speaker 1: took my will.
- 23:13Speaker 7: And then they put the second team in and I
- 23:14Speaker 7: was like, all right, this isn't quite as bad.
- 23:16Speaker 13: But they did that.
- 23:17Speaker 1: It was so hot, it was so hot. They were
- 23:19Speaker 1: so good kids. A monster in front of me, just
- 23:21Speaker 1: flying off the ball every time, and I'm like.
- 23:23Speaker 6: I want to be playing away from me.
- 23:26Speaker 1: My will was taken. It was absolutely taken and off.
- 23:28Speaker 7: That's why I was on the video team putting it
- 23:33Speaker 7: was the pudding never got sharp for me, all right.
- 23:37Speaker 5: Podcast at Patriots dot Com is how you email the
- 23:40Speaker 5: show and Michelle, who loves it when I call her Salata,
- 23:44Speaker 5: I was looking for you, she says, going into the season,
- 23:47Speaker 5: this is exactly all caps what I wanted to see progress,
- 23:51Speaker 5: not so much wins and losses. I can't help but
- 23:54Speaker 5: wonder if the defense is looking a little bit all
- 23:56Speaker 5: over the place since we haven't really had any stability
- 23:59Speaker 5: on the coaching side due to the health of Williams.
- 24:02Speaker 5: During the Raiders game, I was yelling at Drake to
- 24:05Speaker 5: step into the pocket lest east West. He must have
- 24:08Speaker 5: heard me, because he was a lot better this week.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Kids. Comfortable back there, Schittsburg, she said, is going down?
- 24:15Speaker 1: Oh so shit's creek?
- 24:20Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, I got you.
- 24:21Speaker 1: You can say it, right, so yeah, right, no, I agree.
- 24:27Speaker 7: I mean even the defense stuff, like that's what we
- 24:29Speaker 7: said all someone like it's going to be a little
- 24:30Speaker 7: bit like, hey, they're getting sacks, but they're getting torched,
- 24:32Speaker 7: and I mean that's kind of been the case, so
- 24:34Speaker 7: hopefully they can tighten it up a little bit. I
- 24:36Speaker 7: mean even as the defense guy though, like the offense
- 24:39Speaker 7: is shown some signs of life and some signs of
- 24:40Speaker 7: being able to pass protect and you know, that to
- 24:43Speaker 7: me is what makes good NFL teams. Like, if we
- 24:45Speaker 7: were out here in the offense was struggling, the defense
- 24:47Speaker 7: looked amazing, I'd still feel kind of like stuck in
- 24:50Speaker 7: the mud a little bit.
- 24:50Speaker 1: So I'd rather have it this way than, you know,
- 24:52Speaker 1: the other way.
- 24:53Speaker 2: And Rabel did kind of talk about Torello.
- 24:56Speaker 5: He's being around a little bit this week, but he said,
- 24:58Speaker 5: we're going to stick to what we.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Did last week with zat core.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 25:02Speaker 11: You remember the Titans when like you know, coach Yoates
- 25:07Speaker 11: got the defense and coach Boone's got the offense.
- 25:10Speaker 6: Do you worry about your offense? Like I got the defense.
- 25:13Speaker 11: That's like kind of how I feel right now with
- 25:15Speaker 11: Mike Rabel and Josh McDaniels, where it's like Trell Williams
- 25:19Speaker 11: is in and out of the building. That's your defensive coordinator.
- 25:21Speaker 11: We don't really know what his status is going to be.
- 25:24Speaker 11: You have Zach Korr, who I think is a good coach,
- 25:26Speaker 11: but first time he's ever called plays in the NFL. Like,
- 25:31Speaker 11: I think the head coach needs to spend some time
- 25:33Speaker 11: with the defense, like especially as a guy that is
- 25:36Speaker 11: the defensive guy. I just the offense right now, I
- 25:39Speaker 11: think is figuring itself out a little bit. And they
- 25:42Speaker 11: have a really experienced coordinator obviously on that side of
- 25:45Speaker 11: the ball. So I hope that that raybel can button
- 25:49Speaker 11: up the defense because I agree with the email or
- 25:51Speaker 11: that right now, there's it's been a little bit uh,
- 25:56Speaker 11: you know loose, you know, Mistackles Miscoverage assignments way too
- 26:00Speaker 11: much space and zone like that type of stuff is coachable,
- 26:03Speaker 11: Like that's that's, you know, buttoning things up on a
- 26:05Speaker 11: defensive perspective.
- 26:07Speaker 5: Speaking of missing things, Warren says he's loved to show
- 26:10Speaker 5: for years, but miss the arguments. Mike and Evan never
- 26:14Speaker 5: make an opinion and argue for or against. Only Paul
- 26:16Speaker 5: and Fred makes it up rarely these days. Mike just
- 26:19Speaker 5: giggles the whole time. He wants more arguments.
- 26:22Speaker 7: I mean, what's her to argue about when they were
- 26:24Speaker 7: four win seasons?
- 26:26Speaker 6: Like, yeah, I mean that's kind of true.
- 26:28Speaker 7: Yeah, like you have to disagree with somebody, right, like
- 26:31Speaker 7: even just get to the middle where you can you know,
- 26:33Speaker 7: then you feel like there's it's kind of like I
- 26:35Speaker 7: felt going to watch film where it's like when they win,
- 26:38Speaker 7: I'm more excited to go back and watch the bad
- 26:40Speaker 7: stuff to how to fix it because I feel like
- 26:42Speaker 7: it's worth it. You know, it's worth arguing when you
- 26:44Speaker 7: believe in a team and you know there's some things,
- 26:46Speaker 7: but like when four games they're like I think they
- 26:49Speaker 7: I think they stink too, Like okay, you got.
- 26:52Speaker 4: A glimpse into Andy and Paul arguing with Fred during
- 26:56Speaker 4: like fourteen to two seasons, get on because we're worried
- 27:01Speaker 4: about the things that they're not doing well.
- 27:03Speaker 6: We know the things that they do well.
- 27:05Speaker 7: Yeah, well, I'm sure when you go to watch the film,
- 27:08Speaker 7: it's like, yeah, the good things are good, but like
- 27:10Speaker 7: you know, when there are actually good things to say,
- 27:12Speaker 7: these are good.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Now, let's fix the bad so it can all be
- 27:15Speaker 1: good and then we can you know.
- 27:16Speaker 6: Really you can become a playoff team.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Right then you're excited to work. But when it all sucks,
- 27:21Speaker 1: like what's your film review?
- 27:22Speaker 7: Like, when it all sucks and you're watching, there's nothing
- 27:25Speaker 7: salvageable here.
- 27:26Speaker 1: So I don't know, we'll try to argue more.
- 27:28Speaker 6: We did a good trash.
- 27:29Speaker 7: Talk this week, I thought for pe TV, So watch
- 27:32Speaker 7: tonight if you can tune into.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Such places slightly, we slightly are you okay?
- 27:36Speaker 2: Okay, all right, Freddy, all right.
- 27:41Speaker 5: Spin Fresno writes in he says this email will annoy
- 27:44Speaker 5: Evan because he's allergic to nonsense. He says, yesterday, Mike
- 27:48Speaker 5: mentioned that in the locker room the name plates over
- 27:50Speaker 5: the lockers are digital.
- 27:52Speaker 2: That seems odd to me.
- 27:53Speaker 5: Why aren't they physical nameplates? How long have they been digital.
- 27:57Speaker 5: It seems impersonal, like we're just waiting to re program
- 28:00Speaker 5: a road sign when we move on from the player.
- 28:03Speaker 5: Physical plates were more substantial and showed you you believe
- 28:06Speaker 5: in the guy's roots here. But maybe I've just have
- 28:09Speaker 5: abandonment issues since Asquatch left to go, Nestle is spotn
- 28:12Speaker 5: sized cranium, and Fitzi's blabbering groin wow what wow.
- 28:18Speaker 6: The end of that.
- 28:19Speaker 10: I think the whole thing about the name plates their
- 28:22Speaker 10: throwback this year.
- 28:23Speaker 6: Well that's why I Mike brought it up first.
- 28:25Speaker 9: I didn't do that.
- 28:26Speaker 10: I didn't know you brought it up, Mike.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Well I had to.
- 28:28Speaker 6: I mean you returned to the locker room.
- 28:30Speaker 10: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 28:31Speaker 1: You know, it's great.
- 28:32Speaker 6: Who's back?
- 28:33Speaker 2: It was great.
- 28:33Speaker 1: That was yesterday, Alex.
- 28:35Speaker 7: Right when I walked through the door, Alice just hit
- 28:37Speaker 7: and I thought, I thought it worked pretty well because
- 28:39Speaker 7: I walked right into like interrupt but it was.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Like, look who's back? And you know, it was like,
- 28:44Speaker 1: look who's back. I announced my presence but filled it in.
- 28:47Speaker 4: So how long at least at least five years?
- 28:50Speaker 1: Right?
- 28:50Speaker 6: The digital main plate as long as yeah, it's been
- 28:54Speaker 6: a while. Speak they made that move.
- 28:56Speaker 1: They can't just take other signs down to like, yeah, I.
- 29:00Speaker 10: Think it's really that serious.
- 29:01Speaker 5: I excited for next year when they move into the
- 29:03Speaker 5: new building. I guess that locker room is going to
- 29:06Speaker 5: be the state of the art.
- 29:07Speaker 10: I'm not excited about that. We have to walk over there.
- 29:11Speaker 9: God forbid you get your steps.
- 29:12Speaker 12: Yeah, god forbid you go see sunshine.
- 29:17Speaker 4: We had to do fred Oh yeah, we had to
- 29:21Speaker 4: walk up uphill both ways.
- 29:22Speaker 11: When when it's January and they're like, oh yeah, locker
- 29:27Speaker 11: room and I got to walk out there in the snow.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I have to get in the car.
- 29:31Speaker 13: We have to.
- 29:32Speaker 6: We had to drive to.
- 29:33Speaker 11: Them, and you walked uphill both ways. Shoes and yeah, yeah,
- 29:38Speaker 11: I've heard it all.
- 29:41Speaker 9: He wants a golf cart, because I didn't say I.
- 29:43Speaker 6: Wanted a golf cart.
- 29:43Speaker 10: I just said that I'm going to complain that it's cold.
- 29:46Speaker 12: I think the content team should get a good golf
- 29:48Speaker 12: cart when we move to the others place.
- 29:51Speaker 6: The golf the content team will have about seven of them.
- 29:53Speaker 5: I remember, speaking of back in the old days, we
- 29:56Speaker 5: used to have an old guy named Eddie Mack, and
- 29:59Speaker 5: he was in charge of all the TVs in the
- 30:01Speaker 5: old stadium. Uh, and he was a big parcels guy.
- 30:06Speaker 5: So parcels Lee's Pete Carroll takes over. But they're still
- 30:10Speaker 5: practicing off campus and uh, I don't know, like what
- 30:15Speaker 5: does Eddie mack expect it?
- 30:17Speaker 2: But they come back in all separate cars instead of
- 30:21Speaker 2: like in a van or whatever. And I hear Eddie
- 30:23Speaker 2: mcain that wouldn't happen if Parcells was stole hair. Everything
- 30:27Speaker 2: was that wouldn't happen. You know, that was his It
- 30:29Speaker 2: was the whole thing.
- 30:30Speaker 10: I think we should have our own car, Deuce that
- 30:32Speaker 10: says for Evan and No.
- 30:34Speaker 5: I think next year we're gonna have We're gonna have
- 30:36Speaker 5: to get a golf cart for the content.
- 30:38Speaker 11: Well, mister Kraft has a golf cart that says his
- 30:41Speaker 11: name on it. Yeah, and so I think Deuce and
- 30:43Speaker 11: I should have one that says Evan and Dee.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Why would just buy our own.
- 30:46Speaker 5: We're just gonna get you one that says ball nowher.
- 30:48Speaker 5: Sure it'll have a big screen after yesterday, so on
- 30:52Speaker 5: the way you can watch that far all twenty two.
- 30:55Speaker 2: We'll get you a driver so you don't have to
- 30:57Speaker 2: watch the road.
- 30:58Speaker 6: It's not right there, it's not.
- 31:00Speaker 12: Well the tunnel out like the bay thing where they
- 31:04Speaker 12: bring the trucks in.
- 31:05Speaker 4: It's guess that the lower I guess you could walk
- 31:10Speaker 4: that way side anyway.
- 31:12Speaker 6: Yeah, I know, and it's cold now.
- 31:14Speaker 4: Like the camera guys, you know for that like they
- 31:16Speaker 4: should have like their little carts and stuff.
- 31:18Speaker 6: You have carts for their cameras and their tripods and stuff.
- 31:23Speaker 6: Now their equipment right, yeah, I'm just going to golf
- 31:27Speaker 6: Jesus uh.
- 31:30Speaker 5: Todd and Garner says this game is going to come
- 31:32Speaker 5: down to the trenches. I feel that whomever can protect
- 31:36Speaker 5: their quarterback the best will win this one. Both these
- 31:39Speaker 5: are hungry and aggressive, so it will be interesting to
- 31:41Speaker 5: see how the OC's approach it. My prediction is thirty
- 31:44Speaker 5: one Steelers Pat's twenty eight. Evan will be raving about
- 31:48Speaker 5: the O and Deuce will be crying about the d.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Oh. I never thought.
- 31:55Speaker 6: What about the d specifically be crying about.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Misstackles probably, I guess.
- 32:03Speaker 5: Anthony says there's audio cuts in and out for ten
- 32:07Speaker 5: minutes on YouTube. YouTube needs to be fixed, and if
- 32:11Speaker 5: anyone's listening at YouTube audio audio problems on YouTube on
- 32:17Speaker 5: the YouTube, I don't know what that's all about.
- 32:20Speaker 6: Thirty one twenty eight.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Obviously extremely disappointing to lose, but at least sounds like
- 32:27Speaker 4: that would be another entertaining game thirty one twenty eight.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I'm not here to be entertaining and I'm here to win.
- 32:32Speaker 6: Fred, did you not listen to everything I said? Or
- 32:36Speaker 6: you just want to make fun of me?
- 32:37Speaker 4: Here to be I don't like the last like the
- 32:40Speaker 4: first game, yep, was not entertaining in any way. The
- 32:45Speaker 4: second game was, and it wasn't just because one was
- 32:47Speaker 4: a loss and one was a win, like the game
- 32:49Speaker 4: unfolded in an entertainment.
- 32:51Speaker 5: You know my stance about Patriots games. I don't care
- 32:54Speaker 5: how entertaining they are. As long as we win.
- 32:56Speaker 2: I know I can be entertained by the rest of
- 32:58Speaker 2: the games.
- 33:00Speaker 9: Would a dominant win not be entertaining?
- 33:03Speaker 5: It would be to me to big head he used
- 33:06Speaker 5: to say that, no, but it would have arguments.
- 33:08Speaker 6: So it's a little different now.
- 33:09Speaker 4: If they had a dominant win on Sunday, that would
- 33:12Speaker 4: be entertaining to me, Like when you're going fourteen and
- 33:15Speaker 4: two and you're just beating the crap out. It's you know,
- 33:17Speaker 4: vastly inferior teams. I liked the games that were close.
- 33:21Speaker 2: I find that entertaining.
- 33:22Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's where he used to yell at Andy
- 33:24Speaker 4: all the time because like, yeah, I was boring because
- 33:27Speaker 4: it was, oh my god, we were very spoiled.
- 33:30Speaker 10: Now, yeah, sounds it. Oh yeah, I get made fun of.
- 33:35Speaker 5: Quig writes in looking for the defense to step up
- 33:38Speaker 5: and contain Rogers in the pocket.
- 33:39Speaker 2: He doesn't like to be hit.
- 33:41Speaker 5: Wasn't Tomlin complaining about the communications system the last time
- 33:44Speaker 5: they were here? Maybe round two of Unicorn and Show Ponies?
- 33:48Speaker 6: Was that the last time?
- 33:49Speaker 1: That was different? No, that was farther back.
- 33:51Speaker 4: Yeah, Unicorn and Show Ponies. That was a Saints game.
- 33:56Speaker 4: But the last I don't know if it was the
- 33:58Speaker 4: last time, but Tomlin had that classic postgame ran.
- 34:03Speaker 6: Well, listen to Scott Zola.
- 34:05Speaker 1: In the headsets.
- 34:07Speaker 7: That's funny, you know, it's it's pretty random. But Patriots
- 34:11Speaker 7: have been and we said before, they're seven and nineteen
- 34:13Speaker 7: at home, the worst home record since twenty twenty two.
- 34:15Speaker 7: But somehow they've they've beaten the Steelers twice on the road,
- 34:18Speaker 7: like Mac Jones and Bailey Zappy beat the Steelers like
- 34:21Speaker 7: it's just one of those like weird anomalies where they've
- 34:24Speaker 7: been losing pretty much to everybody, but they still can
- 34:26Speaker 7: beat the Steelers those two years.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:29Speaker 11: Yeah, That's why it makes me optimistic about this game
- 34:33Speaker 11: because I feel like in both instance institutional, I feel
- 34:37Speaker 11: like they have something on this Steelers defense, Like I
- 34:39Speaker 11: don't know what it is, we own them, but if
- 34:42Speaker 11: you can like that Thursday night game. I know the
- 34:45Speaker 11: second half wasn't quite as good as the first half,
- 34:47Speaker 11: but Bailey Zappy threw three touchdown passes in the first
- 34:49Speaker 11: half of that Thursday night game, and that was the
- 34:52Speaker 11: best offense they played all year long in twenty twenty three,
- 34:55Speaker 11: and it was against the Steelers, against that Tomlin defense
- 34:59Speaker 11: on a short week where they didn't have a ton
- 35:00Speaker 11: of time to really change what they do, and it
- 35:03Speaker 11: just feels like they kind of have a book on
- 35:06Speaker 11: like this is the Steelers like to play, this coverage,
- 35:09Speaker 11: These are their checks, this is what they do, and
- 35:12Speaker 11: we just kind of know how to beat it.
- 35:13Speaker 10: And so that's what makes me optimistic.
- 35:16Speaker 5: Boston Cream writes in with a picks update from the
- 35:20Speaker 5: fan app Okay. He says Week one saw Doug from
- 35:25Speaker 5: Marlborough with a fourteen and two in first place, and
- 35:29Speaker 5: Week two had both Cody from Indiana and Spencer from
- 35:32Speaker 5: Connecticut goes sixteen and oh wow wow. So they shared
- 35:36Speaker 5: the best record for the week and Brian from Minnesota
- 35:39Speaker 5: has the overall best record at twenty eight and four.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Wow. So are we sending these people T shirts? You are?
- 35:52Speaker 8: I haven't sent any of these people T shirts yet,
- 35:54Speaker 8: but I can when.
- 35:54Speaker 2: They said, well, you should email Kareem I mean Boston
- 35:58Speaker 2: Cream T shirts know. Oh he has T shirts.
- 36:02Speaker 8: Yeah, he just got the last round. I said, out
- 36:04Speaker 8: he got three.
- 36:05Speaker 5: No, we need to find out how to get T
- 36:08Speaker 5: shirts for Doug and Marlborough and Cody and Spencer.
- 36:11Speaker 8: Okay, just email addresses to podcast at Patriots dot com
- 36:14Speaker 8: and I'll get your T shirts.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Okay, just like that.
- 36:17Speaker 5: But so Boston Cream's not supplying that. I don't know
- 36:20Speaker 5: how any of this is working.
- 36:22Speaker 1: I don't think anyone should give their address to the
- 36:24Speaker 1: donut right.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Well, we have to. We have to.
- 36:26Speaker 8: I mean, we have to get a shirt mission to Boston.
- 36:29Speaker 2: I don't know however we do it. We need to
- 36:31Speaker 2: get T shirts to these people. So, okay, good stuff.
- 36:34Speaker 1: The new T shirts are great. By the way, I
- 36:36Speaker 1: was wearing mine yesterday. Very Why are They great, They're
- 36:38Speaker 1: very comfortable.
- 36:39Speaker 7: They fit, they just have a good good You know,
- 36:41Speaker 7: some T shirts just feel like they fit, right.
- 36:43Speaker 1: I feel like that's one of those.
- 36:44Speaker 8: Just got one sent out to Somalia yesterday.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Oh okay, have you washed it?
- 36:49Speaker 7: You did wash, no shrinking, no shrinking, and well, you
- 36:52Speaker 7: know it's just a tiny bit, but but no, it's
- 36:54Speaker 7: still it's stretched out pretty good.
- 36:55Speaker 1: That good quality, good quality.
- 36:57Speaker 4: I'm gonna start to Mike express genuine andenthusiasm for a
- 37:00Speaker 4: T shirt, right, and then I think back to the
- 37:04Speaker 4: person who called in on wrote in on Tuesday, criticizing you.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Why don't you be a fan once in a while,
- 37:10Speaker 4: Like this is a guy who is legitimately enthusiastic about
- 37:14Speaker 4: a T shirt.
- 37:14Speaker 2: He is the T shirt.
- 37:16Speaker 1: And how it is this I dabble and you're making.
- 37:19Speaker 4: Making fun of you for not being properly excited Sunday
- 37:23Speaker 4: after the win, I meant.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Me, we got to tackle take the ball away. I've
- 37:29Speaker 1: got to be better and I'll be that. I'll be
- 37:30Speaker 1: more excited.
- 37:33Speaker 6: Okay, Mike could be excited with a three nothing win.
- 37:38Speaker 7: Well, I mean it's interesting because like my writing hes
- 37:41Speaker 7: into it, like I was hard trying to like write
- 37:45Speaker 7: and finish your piece, like for right at the end
- 37:47Speaker 7: of the game, and it's back and forth and back
- 37:48Speaker 7: and forth, and like at a certain point, I'm just like,
- 37:50Speaker 7: all right, I'm gonna pick the side they're gonna win,
- 37:52Speaker 7: and I start to like round it out that they're
- 37:54Speaker 7: going to win, and then like harp like pounding at
- 37:57Speaker 7: the end of the games and like cauz if it
- 38:00Speaker 7: and they get in, I'm gonna have to change all
- 38:01Speaker 7: this stuff.
- 38:02Speaker 1: I'm not have to get off the post game show.
- 38:03Speaker 6: He made the declaration.
- 38:05Speaker 4: He's like, you know, if if Miami ends up winning
- 38:07Speaker 4: this game, I'm just gonna let you guys know right now,
- 38:09Speaker 4: I'm not going to be able to do much.
- 38:10Speaker 6: In the first ten minutes of the show, I did say.
- 38:12Speaker 11: That I hadn't had to write about a game that
- 38:16Speaker 11: they won in that fashion in a while, and it's
- 38:21Speaker 11: a it was kind of weird for me postgame too,
- 38:23Speaker 11: I was like, how do I Usually I wanted a
- 38:26Speaker 11: game where they scored points like Egot, you had.
- 38:29Speaker 7: That's usually like a five, like the old games when
- 38:32Speaker 7: they like five points.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Maybe this was like eleven, Like I mean, there were
- 38:35Speaker 1: so many twists in terms.
- 38:36Speaker 11: Of there's five lead changes and uh, you know, I'm
- 38:40Speaker 11: more used to like the game that they won in
- 38:41Speaker 11: Chicago last year where it was the game was over
- 38:44Speaker 11: the half and like they scored no points, but they
- 38:48Speaker 11: sacked the court. And in this game, it was like
- 38:50Speaker 11: this was a back and four lead changes, punt return touchdowns,
- 38:53Speaker 11: kickoff return touchdowns.
- 38:54Speaker 10: I was like, this is an actual football game.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Crazy good crazy Sean Wrights.
- 38:59Speaker 2: It one great win Sunday.
- 39:04Speaker 5: And if you don't want to run through a wall,
- 39:06Speaker 5: like for Mike Rabel, you have no pulse two. I know,
- 39:09Speaker 5: two weeks late, but love the rivalry uniform. Surprisingly, I
- 39:12Speaker 5: don't know if the will if they'll become permanent ones
- 39:16Speaker 5: down the line, but not bad.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Just don't go back to the blue on blue. Look
- 39:20Speaker 2: they'll never be permanent, but you know they'll be wearing
- 39:24Speaker 2: those for rivalries games permanently. Yeah.
- 39:28Speaker 5: At three, I like a shootout this week thirty eight
- 39:31Speaker 5: to thirty for the Patriots. And now he has a
- 39:34Speaker 5: little game. What do these ten Patriots have in common?
- 39:40Speaker 2: Stanley Morgan, all wide receivers, Stanley Morgan, Harold Jackson, Irving Fryar,
- 39:44Speaker 2: Randy Moss, Gino Cappelletti, Dion Branch, Troy Brown West Welcome,
- 39:48Speaker 2: Randy Vataha, and David Gibbons. What do they all have
- 39:51Speaker 2: in common? You'll never get it.
- 39:54Speaker 6: I'll just go the answer is not there all Patriots
- 39:56Speaker 6: wide receiver.
- 39:56Speaker 2: No.
- 39:59Speaker 5: According to Sean, yes, but he says what they have
- 40:02Speaker 5: in common is that they're all better than Julian Edelman. Sorry,
- 40:06Speaker 5: I know you will disagree, but I felt he needed
- 40:08Speaker 5: to wait before getting in as the first time Hall
- 40:10Speaker 5: of Famer. But congratulations to him and Coach Parcels. Let's
- 40:14Speaker 5: hope it's not thirty years for Bell.
- 40:15Speaker 4: You just to me a favorite, don't, don't, don't, But
- 40:18Speaker 4: but I just you could blatantly ignore me. Okay, I
- 40:22Speaker 4: wanted you to go down the list, So we go
- 40:24Speaker 4: one by one. We don't have to give any details.
- 40:26Speaker 2: No, I think it's I think it's a risk. Don't
- 40:29Speaker 2: give it any credence.
- 40:30Speaker 6: Would you say, David Gibbons.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Was Baddy Vataha?
- 40:34Speaker 6: Like, what do we demine?
- 40:35Speaker 1: I don't know the second guy.
- 40:39Speaker 5: By the way, Evan, you had a nice story that
- 40:42Speaker 5: you talked to Bill O'Brien about some really nice quotes
- 40:44Speaker 5: from O'Brien about Julian Edelman.
- 40:46Speaker 6: None of those guys were better, but not a Hall
- 40:50Speaker 6: of Famer. Not all of them were better.
- 40:52Speaker 11: No, no, yeah, that peaceful published tomorrow is oh oh,
- 40:57Speaker 11: but hasn't gone out.
- 40:58Speaker 13: It's okay.
- 40:59Speaker 11: You didn't give too much load it up with media. Yeah,
- 41:02Speaker 11: it will come out tomorrow.
- 41:03Speaker 6: It was cool.
- 41:03Speaker 11: I actually talked to got talked to Edelman right at
- 41:07Speaker 11: the end of training camp. I was talking to him
- 41:09Speaker 11: about playing slot receiver and I for a different piece,
- 41:11Speaker 11: and we ended up going down memory lane of his
- 41:14Speaker 11: rookie training camp and his you know, ascension there in
- 41:18Speaker 11: two thousand and nine to make the roster, and I
- 41:21Speaker 11: kind of just felt like it was better as its
- 41:23Speaker 11: own piece than putting it in the slot receiver piece
- 41:26Speaker 11: because he's going into the Hall of Fame. And then
- 41:30Speaker 11: old friend lucas an old friend still friend of no socks,
- 41:34Speaker 11: he hooked me up with Bill O'Brien, who was the
- 41:37Speaker 11: offensive coordinator for the Patriots in nine when they drafted Edelman.
- 41:40Speaker 11: So it was cool and some really cool stories from Billy,
- 41:43Speaker 11: oh about scouting Julian Edelman out of Kent State and
- 41:47Speaker 11: how that all came to be.
- 41:49Speaker 5: Yeah, so that'll be coming out tomorrow. Yes, okay, great,
- 41:52Speaker 5: look forward to that. Isaac writes in it seemed to
- 41:55Speaker 5: me last Sunday that while the pass rush numbers bear
- 41:58Speaker 5: out a good game, the actual look of it was
- 42:00Speaker 5: up and down. On early downs when Elijah Ponder and
- 42:03Speaker 5: Kiris Tomda were on the field, they were stonewalling to run.
- 42:06Speaker 5: But when Tua started throwing on those downs, when that's
- 42:09Speaker 5: when he was hitting big plays. Is there an adjustment
- 42:12Speaker 5: that you see there to maybe have Milton Barmore play more.
- 42:15Speaker 5: I'd love to know what the snap percentages were along
- 42:18Speaker 5: the D line.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I probably have those.
- 42:21Speaker 6: We can tell you that right now.
- 42:22Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 42:23Speaker 11: I don't think it was necessarily an issue of who
- 42:25Speaker 11: was playing. I think we've talked about this on Tuesday.
- 42:29Speaker 11: The coverage wasn't very good, and you Tua's time to
- 42:33Speaker 11: release was right around two seconds for the majority of
- 42:36Speaker 11: the game. When you can have you know, the best
- 42:40Speaker 11: defensive line in football rushing the quarterback, if he's getting
- 42:42Speaker 11: the ball out in two seconds, it's not going to
- 42:44Speaker 11: make it different.
- 42:45Speaker 10: So they were able to.
- 42:46Speaker 11: Clamp down coverage wise in the second half, especially that
- 42:50Speaker 11: fourth quarter, and then the pressure started to mount, and
- 42:53Speaker 11: I think you can see that.
- 42:54Speaker 4: Yeah, the two guys that you're asking about, Milton Williams
- 42:57Speaker 4: and Christian Bamber played a ton. They played sixty eight
- 42:59Speaker 4: and sixty seven percent of the snaps respectively, so they
- 43:02Speaker 4: were out there to you know, more than two thirds
- 43:04Speaker 4: at the time. I think, Mike, you broke down very
- 43:10Speaker 4: specific numbers in terms of the pass rush, and the
- 43:12Speaker 4: email is right. For three quarters of the game, the
- 43:16Speaker 4: pass rush was largely dormant, and then in the fourth quarter.
- 43:21Speaker 4: I think that you had them for three pressures in
- 43:23Speaker 4: the first three quarters combined, and then they had like
- 43:26Speaker 4: ten or twelve in the fourth quarter, including whatever three
- 43:29Speaker 4: or four sacks. I think that was partly due to
- 43:33Speaker 4: the game situation, and I mean, frankly, it was partly
- 43:38Speaker 4: due to Miami. Miami put itself behind the chains on
- 43:41Speaker 4: the last two possessions, and that helps you know when
- 43:44Speaker 4: you have fourth and lungs, do you have a good
- 43:46Speaker 4: chance to get home? Because the quarterback can't just get
- 43:48Speaker 4: it out immediately. He has to get it beyond the sticks.
- 43:51Speaker 4: So when it's fourth and eight, fourth and seven, whatever,
- 43:54Speaker 4: you know, whatever the case may be, fourth and thirteen,
- 43:57Speaker 4: like you can't just like immediately throw it before pressure
- 43:59Speaker 4: gets there, you have to wait till someone makes themselves available.
- 44:03Speaker 4: Milton Williams incredible move on the last sack individual effort,
- 44:08Speaker 4: But that's a fourth and long that you're able to
- 44:10Speaker 4: get home on. That's that's how you play defense nowadays.
- 44:13Speaker 4: You can't stop them every play. You got to stop
- 44:15Speaker 4: them on the big plays.
- 44:16Speaker 7: So well, that's what I was going to say, Like,
- 44:17Speaker 7: is there a part of you that thinks that, all right,
- 44:20Speaker 7: if they get the tackling fundamentals cleared up, that maybe
- 44:24Speaker 7: this is kind of a defense that could be built
- 44:26Speaker 7: for the playoffs where it does come down to a
- 44:28Speaker 7: couple possessions at the end. And you know, is this
- 44:30Speaker 7: I know it's hard to extrapolate that. Oh they did
- 44:32Speaker 7: it against the Dolphins, and we two, this is always
- 44:34Speaker 7: what the offense turns into. And I'll tell you, if
- 44:36Speaker 7: the defense is good enough to end in the playoffs.
- 44:38Speaker 1: You know, but if you have some guys who can
- 44:40Speaker 1: get that pressure.
- 44:41Speaker 7: I mean, we saw that Giants pass rush with their
- 44:43Speaker 7: front four that just absolutely dominated.
- 44:45Speaker 6: Their defense isn't good enough to win in the playoffs.
- 44:47Speaker 4: If the offense plays like it did against the Raiders,
- 44:50Speaker 4: their defense is good enough to win in a game
- 44:53Speaker 4: if the offense does what it did the other day,
- 44:55Speaker 4: because to me, there was night and day, how much
- 44:57Speaker 4: more effect? You know, they barely played played seven minutes
- 45:01Speaker 4: in the first half. Yeah, I know they were not
- 45:03Speaker 4: good in the first half, but they were only out
- 45:05Speaker 4: there for seven minutes. Yeah, So the other team can't
- 45:07Speaker 4: score when they don't have the ball.
- 45:09Speaker 7: Yeah, to me, that's just one of the biggest takeaways
- 45:11Speaker 7: that I don't know. I mean, we talked about it,
- 45:13Speaker 7: but the dramatics shift in scheme and approach between week
- 45:17Speaker 7: one and week two for this Patriots. You know, I
- 45:19Speaker 7: think Evan said the week one offensive approach look like
- 45:21Speaker 7: a training like preseason, and and that was on both
- 45:24Speaker 7: sides of the ball. Now, I mean, I know there's
- 45:26Speaker 7: different play caller from week one to week two for
- 45:28Speaker 7: the defense, but it's the same thing. They're just spinning
- 45:30Speaker 7: the dial with every coverage known demand trying to figure out.
- 45:33Speaker 1: How how to solve TUA.
- 45:35Speaker 7: So I'm really curious what they do this week if
- 45:37Speaker 7: are they going to tack back on you know, what's
- 45:39Speaker 7: going to change this week.
- 45:40Speaker 1: There was dramatic changes last week.
- 45:41Speaker 11: Yeah, I think the pass rush numbers are like Paul said, like,
- 45:47Speaker 11: you get caught up in them. But there's such situation
- 45:49Speaker 11: based that, especially this early on in the season, once
- 45:53Speaker 11: you have this sample of like four to plus games
- 45:56Speaker 11: where you can really unpack it. But two games into
- 45:59Speaker 11: the season, the numbers are gonna be really deceiving. And
- 46:02Speaker 11: you know, the first three quarters they really weren't getting
- 46:06Speaker 11: them off schedule, and they were Miami was hitting them
- 46:09Speaker 11: early down passes and staying ahead of the chains. And
- 46:12Speaker 11: then the fourth quarter they got behind schedule and they
- 46:15Speaker 11: got into long down and distance and the pass rush
- 46:17Speaker 11: turned up. And I don't think it's any more complex
- 46:21Speaker 11: than that, because just like across the board, their defensive
- 46:25Speaker 11: line all looks like they're winning more times than not.
- 46:30Speaker 11: But if the quarterbacks getting rid of the ball quickly,
- 46:33Speaker 11: there's this nothing you can do as a defensive lineman.
- 46:36Speaker 11: And Milan Williams said it after the game. He said,
- 46:38Speaker 11: we kept on telling ourselves just keep rushing, like just
- 46:42Speaker 11: keep rushing, like well, the coverage ll give us a chance,
- 46:45Speaker 11: just keep rushing, and they just they were like two
- 46:48Speaker 11: was just getting rid of the ball so quickly.
- 46:49Speaker 6: One of your.
- 46:52Speaker 4: One of your colleagues that tracks this sort of stuff
- 46:54Speaker 4: had drake them into the other side. Drake May was
- 46:58Speaker 4: like the second fastest released time this in week two.
- 47:02Speaker 6: I could see that.
- 47:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I too, and set two point something seconds average
- 47:07Speaker 4: release time and it was the second fastest in the league,
- 47:11Speaker 4: you know, out of you know, all thirty two teams.
- 47:14Speaker 4: So that is a big part of it. Like why
- 47:18Speaker 4: are we talking so much better about the Patriots offensive
- 47:20Speaker 4: line in week two than we were in Week one?
- 47:22Speaker 4: Because they didn't get a lot of pressure. We didn't
- 47:24Speaker 4: see it, We didn't see it as much when reality,
- 47:26Speaker 4: there's a lot of things that go into it. Evan
- 47:28Speaker 4: talked a lot about the scheme helping Drake May, you know.
- 47:33Speaker 6: Get out of those situations. Yeah, you know, there's a
- 47:35Speaker 6: lot that goes into it.
- 47:36Speaker 5: I mean, how much better did Tom Brady make our
- 47:39Speaker 5: offensive line?
- 47:40Speaker 4: But it was just but that was Tom Brady and
- 47:42Speaker 4: his ability to get rid of the ball. This was like,
- 47:45Speaker 4: we threw the ball half the amount of times that
- 47:47Speaker 4: we did in week one, literally forty six to twenty three. Right,
- 47:51Speaker 4: you didn't get in these situations where you're down ten
- 47:54Speaker 4: in the middle of the fourth quarter and the other
- 47:55Speaker 4: team is just blitzing your recklessly. The way the Raiders
- 47:57Speaker 4: did so. Conversely, that's where the Dolphins found themselves. They're
- 48:03Speaker 4: down at the end of the game, you know, like
- 48:05Speaker 4: one of the sacks. Just when you were talking about
- 48:07Speaker 4: the situational stuff. I think Spoline actually got credit for
- 48:11Speaker 4: a sack when Tua ran out of bounds. Right, if
- 48:13Speaker 4: it's not the last minute of the game, maybe he
- 48:16Speaker 4: just runs and gets what he can and doesn't worry
- 48:18Speaker 4: about the clock. He had to get out of bounds
- 48:20Speaker 4: to make sure that I'm not going to get the
- 48:22Speaker 4: first down. I got to make sure I stopped the
- 48:24Speaker 4: clock here sack and ends up going down as a
- 48:26Speaker 4: zero yard sack, do you know.
- 48:27Speaker 12: What I mean?
- 48:28Speaker 4: Like sometimes the situation, you know, contact, the situational stuff's huge,
- 48:34Speaker 4: And I this was a big Belichick thing that I
- 48:37Speaker 4: like learned listening to him, where he would just talk about, well,
- 48:41Speaker 4: it's you know, it's the fourth quarner stand of the game,
- 48:44Speaker 4: and you're we were up ten points, so like we're
- 48:46Speaker 4: just we're just pinning.
- 48:48Speaker 11: Our ears back and we're teeing off and so you're
- 48:50Speaker 11: looking at the numbers and saying fifty percent pressure rate.
- 48:53Speaker 11: But you know, really for the first three quarters, it
- 48:56Speaker 11: was only like you know so so, and then we
- 48:59Speaker 11: got a lead that we're able to rush. You know,
- 49:01Speaker 11: these are the things that you kind of start to
- 49:04Speaker 11: think about more and more. Is like, you know, what
- 49:07Speaker 11: was the down and distance and what was the game
- 49:08Speaker 11: situation and all that stuff contributes so much to the
- 49:11Speaker 11: pass rush.
- 49:11Speaker 2: YEP.
- 49:12Speaker 5: Contextual analysis is important, especially in football. Andrew's in Plainville.
- 49:19Speaker 5: What's up Andrew?
- 49:23Speaker 2: Hey? Andrew?
- 49:25Speaker 5: We once twice, three times you're out Christians in LA.
- 49:30Speaker 2: What's up Christian?
- 49:32Speaker 6: Hey?
- 49:33Speaker 3: You guys have to football Thursday?
- 49:35Speaker 13: To you all?
- 49:36Speaker 3: Hey, So three, two statements and a question. Statement Number
- 49:40Speaker 3: one is realizing last week that I was talking about
- 49:44Speaker 3: us getting the monkey off power back in Miami this weekend.
- 49:48Speaker 3: We're a monkey on the back of Pittsburgh because they
- 49:51Speaker 3: haven't been able to beat us. I heard you guys
- 49:52Speaker 3: say it earlier since two thousand and eight. That's a
- 49:55Speaker 3: pretty impressive stat So I hope we continue to be
- 49:58Speaker 3: the albatross, the thorn in their side. Second statement, and
- 50:03Speaker 3: and this is with no disrespect to my boy Eldridge
- 50:06Speaker 3: out there, but DK Metcalf is big, strong and fast,
- 50:11Speaker 3: but he cannot run routes and he gets easily frustrated.
- 50:15Speaker 3: A healthy Christian Gozales would have absolutely shut him down.
- 50:19Speaker 3: I am convinced of that. And then my question for
- 50:22Speaker 3: you guys is, I just wanted this week about the
- 50:26Speaker 3: passing of my old coach, and I wanted for you guys.
- 50:30Speaker 3: Do you guys remember, if you know the remember the
- 50:34Speaker 3: coach that had that impression on you that you both
- 50:36Speaker 3: feared and respected him, and you look back and the
- 50:39Speaker 3: life lessons that he taught you still resonate in your life. Okay,
- 50:43Speaker 3: my score this weekend is Patriots, get up early and
- 50:46Speaker 3: then survival late, comeback, don't pass.
- 50:49Speaker 2: Okay, thank you. Any coaches have a significant impact on.
- 50:54Speaker 7: Your lives, Yeah, I mean my hockey coach Jerry Denen
- 50:58Speaker 7: at at Vermont Academy, who's been a long time coach
- 51:01Speaker 7: at Taber Now.
- 51:01Speaker 1: I actually, yeah, they're all.
- 51:04Speaker 7: Related hockey Dinians, I believe, so I think they're cousins.
- 51:07Speaker 7: I mean there's also there's also a Gary Dinean who
- 51:09Speaker 7: runs hockey. But I wrote my collach essay about him
- 51:14Speaker 7: and yeah, just no. But he was a good combination
- 51:17Speaker 7: of maybe a little like Vrabel in that like well,
- 51:21Speaker 7: not not to take that back. He was the coach
- 51:23Speaker 7: that you just didn't want to make mad, that you
- 51:25Speaker 7: really respected so much, and when he got mad, you
- 51:27Speaker 7: knew there's a good reason for it. But but no,
- 51:30Speaker 7: just a great guy, great family guys, raised wonderful kids
- 51:33Speaker 7: down there at Tabor, And yeah, that's uh my my coach.
- 51:37Speaker 1: That was good for me.
- 51:38Speaker 6: You had to have a soccer coach.
- 51:40Speaker 9: My dad was my coach most of my life. Well,
- 51:42Speaker 9: there you go, so obviously.
- 51:45Speaker 12: I know I'm gonna cry. No, I mean, my dad's
- 51:48Speaker 12: the man. He was a great coach, even when I
- 51:50Speaker 12: wasn't playing for him. He was like the type of
- 51:51Speaker 12: guy to just I hate, like hot head parents that
- 51:54Speaker 12: are just screaming a whole game. My dad would just
- 51:56Speaker 12: be quiet away from the parents and then we'd have
- 51:59Speaker 12: like really good conversations on the way home. And I
- 52:02Speaker 12: think some of my friends like their dad coaching them
- 52:06Speaker 12: would kind of drive a wedge in their relationship, and
- 52:08Speaker 12: I was really lucky where I didn't have that, and
- 52:11Speaker 12: it brought us closer. But I also think of my
- 52:14Speaker 12: high school soccer coach, Katie Marino, and really my high
- 52:18Speaker 12: school track coach Brian Walsh. At the time, I thought
- 52:21Speaker 12: he was insane, like bat shit with the ch crazy
- 52:26Speaker 12: and but in hindsight, I realized he was super motivating
- 52:32Speaker 12: and he like the mental aspect was a big thing.
- 52:34Speaker 12: He would drive into us like it would be pouring
- 52:36Speaker 12: rain and freezing and he'd be like pain, his mental
- 52:39Speaker 12: cold is mental like figure it out.
- 52:41Speaker 9: And I was like, this guy's insane.
- 52:43Speaker 12: But now I'm like, no, what actually, So shout out
- 52:49Speaker 12: Katie Marino, shout out Brian Walsh.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Coaches, Yeah, Hall of Famer Everett No.
- 52:55Speaker 6: I did have two guys when I was a sophomore
- 53:00Speaker 6: in football.
- 53:00Speaker 4: The head coach was Andy Gareno and his top assistant
- 53:03Speaker 4: was Barry Rosen. Those two guys, I just felt like,
- 53:06Speaker 4: coached me in a different way than any of.
- 53:09Speaker 6: The other coaches before or or after.
- 53:11Speaker 4: I thought they were much more detail oriented and good
- 53:15Speaker 4: blend of sort of disciplinarian, but would also put an
- 53:18Speaker 4: arm around you when you needed it. So I kind
- 53:21Speaker 4: of even as a sophomore, I wasn't, you know, a
- 53:23Speaker 4: varsity player, I was a JV player. They would really
- 53:28Speaker 4: go out of their way to find something that you
- 53:31Speaker 4: were doing that was helping the team, but at the
- 53:34Speaker 4: same time, when you were screwing up, they didn't soft
- 53:38Speaker 4: pedal it. You know, it was high school, so those
- 53:39Speaker 4: those two guys would be it for me. I think
- 53:42Speaker 4: I was also really lucky just in general listening to
- 53:44Speaker 4: all the different things I I think.
- 53:48Speaker 6: I think we predated. I don't know.
- 53:49Speaker 4: You can tell me if it's different, Fred, the the
- 53:52Speaker 4: parents that were like loudmouthed, we didn't really have loudmouthed parents.
- 53:56Speaker 6: Like the back back in our day.
- 53:58Speaker 2: You didn't live in New Jersey.
- 54:00Speaker 4: Parents are seriously, they let the coaches coach and they
- 54:03Speaker 4: didn't have to deal with the stuff that they do now.
- 54:05Speaker 4: And I also got very lucky in not having to
- 54:07Speaker 4: deal with a lot of parents coaching their kids. Almost
- 54:11Speaker 4: all of the teams that I played for, the coaches
- 54:14Speaker 4: coached to coach, not because they had their kid on
- 54:16Speaker 4: the team.
- 54:17Speaker 6: I mean there was some, but not many.
- 54:18Speaker 12: I think in my experience, like even Roughing, the parents
- 54:22Speaker 12: that know the most about the game and about sports
- 54:25Speaker 12: are the quietest and the most respectful.
- 54:27Speaker 9: And the ones that don't know jack are the loudest.
- 54:31Speaker 9: You know, so loud and yeah, oh.
- 54:34Speaker 6: My god, shoot the boss.
- 54:36Speaker 7: I watched the Share football game with Campbell, and I
- 54:38Speaker 7: just was making fun of the parents that are like.
- 54:39Speaker 1: I'm like, you played football, I'm never going to be
- 54:43Speaker 1: yelling what to do.
- 54:44Speaker 2: The c.
- 54:46Speaker 9: Wasn't he was in Miami, all right?
- 54:50Speaker 6: Oh yeah.
- 54:50Speaker 7: I think the cross was the worst though, because that
- 54:53Speaker 7: sports like fluid, and you know.
- 54:55Speaker 1: It's just they're just constantly like pass it, shoot it.
- 54:59Speaker 6: It is bad.
- 54:59Speaker 1: You know.
- 55:01Speaker 4: I watched my kids and their parents are they all
- 55:04Speaker 4: have every answer, every one of them, and none.
- 55:06Speaker 2: Of them play.
- 55:08Speaker 12: Teachers can't really discipline the kids anymore with parents because
- 55:11Speaker 12: the parents are going to take the sides kids instead
- 55:14Speaker 12: of being like, listen to your teacher.
- 55:17Speaker 1: I love that.
- 55:18Speaker 6: No lacrosse guy one.
- 55:22Speaker 11: More instrumental. No, uh not really, but I did have.
- 55:30Speaker 2: You knew more than they.
- 55:32Speaker 6: No, it wasn't that, No, it wasn't. I just it wasn't.
- 55:37Speaker 11: That wasn't my my jam Like I wasn't really like
- 55:42Speaker 11: what you're saying, Yeah I do. Yeah, But I did
- 55:45Speaker 11: have one coach in lacrosse, uh who, I don't know
- 55:50Speaker 11: if he he was ex military in some way, and
- 55:53Speaker 11: we didn't pick up a lacrosse ball, just freshman year
- 55:57Speaker 11: tryouts for like two weeks, and all we did was
- 56:00Speaker 11: straight conditioning.
- 56:02Speaker 6: Just running.
- 56:04Speaker 11: Like literally like carrying people on our backs, like just
- 56:07Speaker 11: like straight conditioning. It was insane and he actually, like
- 56:12Speaker 11: I think he got fired for it, like a couple
- 56:14Speaker 11: of years later because you know, woke police or whatever.
- 56:17Speaker 11: But that was the first time that I like really
- 56:19Speaker 11: got in shape, and like that changed everything for me
- 56:23Speaker 11: from a sports standpoint, because I was always a slow
- 56:26Speaker 11: kid and out of shape and everything like that, and
- 56:29Speaker 11: I had no choice, like if I wanted to be
- 56:31Speaker 11: on the team, this is this was what they were doing.
- 56:33Speaker 11: But now I wasn't like a big like this coach
- 56:36Speaker 11: changed my life kind of got It's interesting.
- 56:37Speaker 7: Though, because hearing you talk, like even some of the
- 56:39Speaker 7: coaches that I wouldn't say like change my life or
- 56:42Speaker 7: like arm around you kind of guy, Like even the
- 56:44Speaker 7: coaches that like, like my college hockey coach was never
- 56:47Speaker 7: put arm around you kind of guy. He kicked my
- 56:49Speaker 7: ass for four years and he loved yelling at me,
- 56:52Speaker 7: and I probably deserved it, but I think he prepared
- 56:55Speaker 7: me for the real world, maybe better than the coach
- 56:58Speaker 7: that I was so enamored with, because it shows you,
- 57:01Speaker 7: like just because you work your tail off.
- 57:02Speaker 1: Doesn't mean it's gonna be good for you or it's
- 57:04Speaker 1: going to be successful.
- 57:05Speaker 7: And I think sometimes like even though it's not like
- 57:08Speaker 7: that coach that you expressed that love for, like they
- 57:10Speaker 7: did something really good for you, even though they were
- 57:12Speaker 7: really hard on you. Yeah, and never and you never
- 57:14Speaker 7: had that like Catharsis moment. Like I thought at the end,
- 57:16Speaker 7: like during the banquet, it might be like, oh, Duce,
- 57:19Speaker 7: you know you were.
- 57:20Speaker 1: The guy that I always got after man we got
- 57:22Speaker 1: still No, it was just like I mean if he
- 57:24Speaker 1: pointed out the great goal I had against Norwich in
- 57:26Speaker 1: the playoff game, which was awesome.
- 57:28Speaker 7: Yeah, amazing, the best goal in my career, but you know,
- 57:32Speaker 7: otherwise I had never never got that moment. But still like,
- 57:34Speaker 7: as I got into work work world, it's like, no,
- 57:37Speaker 7: he got me ready to deal with all the crap
- 57:39Speaker 7: that you got to deal with him.
- 57:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I think that that's really what it was.
- 57:41Speaker 10: For me.
- 57:41Speaker 11: It was like, I, let's as you all know, I
- 57:46Speaker 11: had a pretty easy upbringing and that was the first
- 57:49Speaker 11: time where I kind of got my my ass kicked
- 57:51Speaker 11: by somebody, and like, I think that didn't really help me.
- 57:54Speaker 11: Like that was up until that point, it was pretty
- 57:57Speaker 11: it was pretty easy. In the Lazarre Ushold and then
- 58:01Speaker 11: you know that happened and I was like, oh crab,
- 58:04Speaker 11: Like this guy is like gonna kick my ass, you know, and.

- 1:00:53Speaker 7: thanks for joining us here in the studio. First time
- 1:00:55Speaker 7: we've had you.
- 1:00:55Speaker 13: Yeah, appre sure you guys having me.
- 1:00:57Speaker 7: I got to ask you your pro football focuses number
- 1:00:59Speaker 7: one un ranked past blocking center here through two weeks.
- 1:01:02Speaker 7: I know it probably doesn't mean much too, but you know,
- 1:01:04Speaker 7: really solid game for you guys. I've traditionally felt like,
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: and maybe I'm wrong, but it takes a little while
- 1:01:09Speaker 7: for the offensive line and maybe get in sync. You
- 1:01:11Speaker 7: guys have a lot of new pieces, but it seems
- 1:01:13Speaker 7: like you come together pretty quick.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: How's that happened?
- 1:01:15Speaker 16: Yeah, it's never finished product. I feel like we got
- 1:01:18Speaker 16: a lot of good reps in the spring. You know, personally,
- 1:01:21Speaker 16: I'm used to like more jog through walkthroughs in the spring,
- 1:01:23Speaker 16: but Coach Rabel has working and it was a good
- 1:01:27Speaker 16: training camp, and you're just trying to build week to week.
- 1:01:29Speaker 16: You're trying to be better week three than you were
- 1:01:31Speaker 16: week two and so on. So we're doing some good stuff.
- 1:01:34Speaker 16: I think there's always stuff to clean up, but I'm
- 1:01:36Speaker 16: having a lot of fun working with the guys in
- 1:01:38Speaker 16: the room.
- 1:01:38Speaker 11: Before we get into last week's game, I wanted to
- 1:01:41Speaker 11: ask you about coach Rabel because you just mentioned him,
- 1:01:43Speaker 11: and I was talking to Jared Wilson, one of your teammates,
- 1:01:47Speaker 11: and he said that Coach Rabel says that he wants
- 1:01:49Speaker 11: you guys to finish in the end.
- 1:01:51Speaker 10: Zone when you're down by the goal line.
- 1:01:53Speaker 11: Just to what kind of influences he had on the
- 1:01:56Speaker 11: offensive line room and how many you know, pointers and
- 1:01:59Speaker 11: things like that. A guy that lined up on the
- 1:02:01Speaker 11: other side of the ball his whole career can he
- 1:02:03Speaker 11: provide for you guys.
- 1:02:04Speaker 16: Yeah, I think from a technique standpoint, he spends more
- 1:02:08Speaker 16: time than I've ever seen a head coach spend in
- 1:02:09Speaker 16: the old line room. I think in the spring he
- 1:02:12Speaker 16: came in he said, hey, my son played this position.
- 1:02:14Speaker 16: I know if this room's not worth it anything, then
- 1:02:16Speaker 16: this team's not. And so he'll sit back there and
- 1:02:19Speaker 16: he'll give us some nuggets like, hey, this is what
- 1:02:21Speaker 16: the defense is thinking on this play, this style of
- 1:02:23Speaker 16: defense is trying to do this, so we need to
- 1:02:25Speaker 16: attack this. So schematically he helps us. But then I
- 1:02:28Speaker 16: think more importantly it's identity. There's an identity he wants
- 1:02:31Speaker 16: this football team to play with, and he always says
- 1:02:34Speaker 16: it's not just a sign on the wall. We got
- 1:02:36Speaker 16: to make it come to life. And that's kind of
- 1:02:38Speaker 16: the fun part of playing football, right, Like you mentioned
- 1:02:41Speaker 16: about the red zone, Like if we're running the ball
- 1:02:43Speaker 16: into the end zone, that's a good thing. And if
- 1:02:45Speaker 16: we all finished with our guy in the end zone,
- 1:02:47Speaker 16: it'll probably be a touchdown. So that's just kind of
- 1:02:50Speaker 16: style and attitude that we want to help bring to life.
- 1:02:52Speaker 7: And say, or a two point conversion, because it felt
- 1:02:54Speaker 7: like that final two point conversion. I noticed, and we
- 1:02:56Speaker 7: had a caller today on our show, call in specifically
- 1:02:58Speaker 7: about Jared just finish on that play and how excited
- 1:03:02Speaker 7: he was. I mean, that play kind of put the
- 1:03:03Speaker 7: cap on it for you guys. Was that one of
- 1:03:05Speaker 7: those moments?
- 1:03:05Speaker 13: No, that's huge. Balls on the two yard line.
- 1:03:07Speaker 16: They're all thinking we're going to pass it, and we
- 1:03:08Speaker 16: can just run it right up the middle, get a
- 1:03:11Speaker 16: good combination and just let the running backs find a
- 1:03:13Speaker 16: little crease and hit it. So that's I mean, that's
- 1:03:16Speaker 16: a big momentum changer in the game when it's kind
- 1:03:18Speaker 16: of deflating for a defense for a team when they
- 1:03:20Speaker 16: sit out there and watch a run on a two
- 1:03:23Speaker 16: point conversion.
- 1:03:24Speaker 11: Yeah, and just sticking on Jared and obviously Will as well.
- 1:03:27Speaker 11: To rookies on the left side there as a veteran guide,
- 1:03:31Speaker 11: is what are your impressions of them so far?
- 1:03:33Speaker 16: Yeah, they're doing a great job. They're fun to have
- 1:03:35Speaker 16: in the room. I think it's hard being a rookie
- 1:03:39Speaker 16: because you've got some duties and you got some expectations.
- 1:03:41Speaker 16: But at the same time, they're playing a lot of
- 1:03:42Speaker 16: snaps for us meaningful football, and so we're trying to
- 1:03:45Speaker 16: help bring them along, and I think they fit in
- 1:03:48Speaker 16: great to the room personality wise, and like I said
- 1:03:51Speaker 16: at the beginning, it's just we're trying to be better
- 1:03:52Speaker 16: each week.
- 1:03:53Speaker 13: I know they certainly are too.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: You were a first round pick as well.
- 1:03:56Speaker 7: Just what's it like coming in with those kind of
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: expectations for someone like Will everybody's been talking about him
- 1:04:01Speaker 7: the left tackle spot all that. Well, from your experience,
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: what do you kind of share with him?
- 1:04:05Speaker 16: Yeah, you know, I think as a competitor, you always
- 1:04:08Speaker 16: want your expectations to exceed everyone else's.
- 1:04:11Speaker 13: But it's tough. It's not easy.
- 1:04:12Speaker 16: Everyone's especially at O line, like if you do anything wrong,
- 1:04:17Speaker 16: you're like you're the worst, right, like all the all
- 1:04:19Speaker 16: the blame, no glory, and so he's just got to
- 1:04:22Speaker 16: take it one day at a time. We talked, and
- 1:04:24Speaker 16: coach Marone has done a great job. He's been in
- 1:04:28Speaker 16: the league for so long, kind of explained to us,
- 1:04:30Speaker 16: like what great O lines and what great O linemen personality.
- 1:04:33Speaker 13: Traits were, how they worked. But you just got to
- 1:04:36Speaker 13: take it one day at a time.
- 1:04:37Speaker 11: Yeah, I wanted to ask you about Ramandre's twenty one
- 1:04:40Speaker 11: yard run from the game on Sunday, because it looked
- 1:04:43Speaker 11: like Drake maybe made some changes there pre snap at
- 1:04:45Speaker 11: the line of scrimmage before you guys ran the football there.
- 1:04:49Speaker 6: I know there's a lot on.
- 1:04:50Speaker 11: Drake's played in terms of the communication and things like
- 1:04:52Speaker 11: that pre snap, but well, what you've seen from him
- 1:04:55Speaker 11: in that regard and can you just break down that
- 1:04:57Speaker 11: run for us?
- 1:04:58Speaker 16: Yeah, he's got command, He's it's some of the play
- 1:05:01Speaker 16: calls have have an alert on them, and we'll want
- 1:05:03Speaker 16: to get to a better looking picture, whether it's better
- 1:05:06Speaker 16: leverage or or whatnot. But he's got great command of
- 1:05:10Speaker 16: the huddle of the offense and he's gonna get us
- 1:05:13Speaker 16: in the right play. And so once he gives us
- 1:05:15Speaker 16: an ID, we can just get downhill with it. And
- 1:05:18Speaker 16: the more we can run the ball like that, the
- 1:05:19Speaker 16: more we can take off of his plate.
- 1:05:21Speaker 13: I think the better we'll be as a team.
- 1:05:23Speaker 7: Looking forward to this weekend. I guess you another quarterback.
- 1:05:25Speaker 7: You spent six seasons in Minnesota watching Aaron Rodgers. Yeah,
- 1:05:28Speaker 7: you know, what was your experience like watching him play?
- 1:05:30Speaker 7: And you know, I'm sure you've seen him probably tear
- 1:05:33Speaker 7: your heart out a couple of times, i'd imagine.
- 1:05:35Speaker 16: Yeah, Yeah, he's he's been an unbelievable player in this
- 1:05:37Speaker 16: league for such a long time. I have a lot
- 1:05:39Speaker 16: of respect for him. It'll be a good test for
- 1:05:42Speaker 16: our defense, and we know offensively we've got to do
- 1:05:44Speaker 16: our job. We got to put some points up to
- 1:05:46Speaker 16: help the defense out. So it's it's weekend and week out.
- 1:05:49Speaker 16: You know, it's at every position, there's some great players,
- 1:05:52Speaker 16: so you just got to bring it every single day.
- 1:05:55Speaker 11: When you look at that Steelers defensive line, Cameron Hayward
- 1:05:58Speaker 11: always stands out. J WAT obviously, what kind of challenge
- 1:06:01Speaker 11: that those guys present.
- 1:06:02Speaker 16: I mean, they're smart players. You don't play in this
- 1:06:04Speaker 16: league for that long if you're not smart and really
- 1:06:06Speaker 16: good at football. So it'll be a good matchup for
- 1:06:09Speaker 16: us up front. Like you just you got to bring
- 1:06:12Speaker 16: in every play and I think it'll be a good
- 1:06:15Speaker 16: test for us. We got to run the ball, we
- 1:06:17Speaker 16: got to protect the quarterback, like just the same job
- 1:06:20Speaker 16: we have every week.
- 1:06:21Speaker 13: But we just got to keep building from week to week.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: That's you one more silly one.
- 1:06:25Speaker 7: I'm sure ever think they got one more football question
- 1:06:26Speaker 7: for you, But you guys are gonna throwbacks this week,
- 1:06:28Speaker 7: Like what's your assessment of the pat Patriot throwback helmet.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: I think you guys look pretty tight out there. What
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: are your thoughts on it?
- 1:06:33Speaker 16: Yeah, yeah, I mean I don't pay too much attention
- 1:06:36Speaker 16: to it. I think some of the skill guys will
- 1:06:37Speaker 16: kind of swag it out a little bit more than
- 1:06:39Speaker 16: an US lineman. But yeah, I think the white helmets
- 1:06:41Speaker 16: are cool. I think the old logo is pretty sweet.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: So well, it's kind of like a center though, right, I.
- 1:06:46Speaker 11: Mean, yeah, the first time we were in the studio
- 1:06:51Speaker 11: with Coach Rabel, he put me on the spot and
- 1:06:53Speaker 11: standing right in the corner over there, and he said,
- 1:06:55Speaker 11: you know what, what's your favorite run play? And I
- 1:06:58Speaker 11: had nothing prepared. I had no idea he was going
- 1:07:00Speaker 11: to ask me that. So I'm going to put you
- 1:07:01Speaker 11: on the spot and ask you what's your favorite run play, the.
- 1:07:07Speaker 16: One that goes the longest. I don't know, it depends
- 1:07:10Speaker 16: on the defense. I like some outside zone I think
- 1:07:15Speaker 16: I do think you have to kind of have it all,
- 1:07:18Speaker 16: but I like a zone scheme. I think a gap
- 1:07:21Speaker 16: scheme is a good change up. Yeah, but I like
- 1:07:24Speaker 16: I just like getting some good combinations and double teams
- 1:07:27Speaker 16: and getting downhill.
- 1:07:28Speaker 11: Yeah, I said power, which I think might have been
- 1:07:30Speaker 11: what Remondre's run was on maybe, And but outside zone
- 1:07:33Speaker 11: for you makes sense because you're athletic guy, and I
- 1:07:35Speaker 11: can see you fit in that scheme. But I definitely
- 1:07:38Speaker 11: was caught a little off guard. And I know he
- 1:07:40Speaker 11: puts people on the spot like that sometimes in your meetings.
- 1:07:43Speaker 6: So I got a little taste of that.
- 1:07:45Speaker 16: Yeah, if you stay ready, you don't have to get ready,
- 1:07:47Speaker 16: just just stay ready with an answer.
- 1:07:48Speaker 7: Awesome, Wellkaret, thank you so much for daking the time
- 1:07:50Speaker 7: and good luck this weekend.
- 1:07:51Speaker 13: Appreciate it. Thank you guys for having me and now
- 1:07:55Speaker 13: great moments in.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: History.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: She's my lines are way off this week.
- 1:08:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I just I don't.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: I don't believe in you get your lines from Jimmy,
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: the Barbers and the street.
- 1:08:08Speaker 7: It's week to the spread, and I just I just
- 1:08:10Speaker 7: go to draft kings very ESPN's had the same lines
- 1:08:13Speaker 7: as Paul.
- 1:08:14Speaker 6: So we go to draft. Now, this one's draft.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: You're listening.
- 1:08:18Speaker 6: Draft means they are presenting sponsor for the post game show.
- 1:08:21Speaker 6: So I think that we should at least draft.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean show a little I.
- 1:08:25Speaker 6: Know of every week you mocking my cans.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: I can't go to you go to DraftKings.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: Why don't you go to draft?
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: I can't.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: I'm not allowed to. Fred I signed a contract that
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: you're not allowed probably it's not allowed to use it. Don't.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: You can't even look at it, Paul. They don't even
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: go to.
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: Look at it. Every week you can see every Thursday
- 1:08:41Speaker 6: morning I come to work.
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: Paul's grandfather in.
- 1:08:45Speaker 6: Different rules like this is not serious?
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Right, that's another great moment from.
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: All right back here and Patriots unfiltered. Deuce and Evan
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: have left for the locker room. Deuce will be back
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: when he's done with that. He'll participate in picks. We've
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: lost Evan for the day. But yeah, talk about coaches. Uh,
- 1:09:11Speaker 5: let's get back to the phones eight five to five
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: past five hundred because we've got a hurry. I want
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: to see what everyone has to say. We'll go to
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: Brian and Lowell. What's up, Brian?
- 1:09:22Speaker 14: What's up?
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: Hey? Hey? I got a question now for you guys
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: about Chism.
- 1:09:30Speaker 17: When's he got debut this first game?
- 1:09:34Speaker 18: Huh?
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: I think he's gonna have to wait for a couple
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: of guys to get hurt. Probably a man, Yeah.
- 1:09:41Speaker 17: Dying want multi player?
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: Man, I know it's a numbers game, you know. I
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: don't know.
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe they do have plans for him
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: at a certain time, but uh huh yeah, like who
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: would you sit in order to get fon Chisholm on
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: the field.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: That's a good question.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't have to talk.
- 1:10:01Speaker 5: Yeah, that's maybe why he's not blaying my court go
- 1:10:06Speaker 5: dials back of practice this week, thank god.
- 1:10:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: Yeah, but he's not a wide receiver, so yeah, there's
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: a corner, right Yeah.
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: So we're still trying to figure out all right, But no,
- 1:10:17Speaker 5: I hear a lot of people are with you, Brian,
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: A lot of people waiting for the debut of FT
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: and Chisholm.
- 1:10:22Speaker 6: Being mean right there? What low key mean right there? Yeah,
- 1:10:27Speaker 6: a little tone.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: Yeah, Shaw's and Vancouver. What's up, Sean, I'm gonna hurry.
- 1:10:34Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:10:34Speaker 18: I'm hoping that Patriots went, of course, but I'm not
- 1:10:38Speaker 18: excited about a three nothing victory. What I want want
- 1:10:41Speaker 18: the most is for Drake May to continue to have
- 1:10:44Speaker 18: a great game to build momentum and confidence. So that's
- 1:10:47Speaker 18: really what I'm.
- 1:10:47Speaker 19: Hoping for is to see another big game from Drake
- 1:10:50Speaker 19: May and when Evan comes back, I just know My
- 1:10:53Speaker 19: favorite run play is at the end of the game
- 1:10:56Speaker 19: when they take a knee and they're running out the
- 1:10:58Speaker 19: clock for a victory.
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: That's victory for me. Okay, there you go. Thanks two
- 1:11:02Speaker 5: yard loss. Thanks Vancouver, Thanks Vancouver, Thanks Sean. Let should
- 1:11:08Speaker 5: start calling people by where they come from. All right,
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: North Carolina, what's up? It's actually Eldred.
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: Hey, Aldred, Hey, tellos.
- 1:11:19Speaker 17: How y'all doing good? You're doing all right?
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: Okay?
- 1:11:22Speaker 6: How you doing?
- 1:11:23Speaker 17: Jordan quick? I'm doing pretty good. They got a call
- 1:11:28Speaker 17: earlier about d k Be careful what you ask for.
- 1:11:33Speaker 7: Now.
- 1:11:33Speaker 17: If Carlton David is healthy, maybe you can hang with him.
- 1:11:36Speaker 17: But Austin ain't. And if gotten dollars can't play, that's
- 1:11:40Speaker 17: who I'd be worried about, most of them instead of Austin,
- 1:11:43Speaker 17: you know. But I'm just hoping thirty five us I'm
- 1:11:48Speaker 17: hoping for. I can go ahead and brag to my
- 1:11:49Speaker 17: family most of the Fishburg steel a paying anyway.
- 1:11:52Speaker 19: Oh boy, I'll take it easy, all right, all right?
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: Thanks Aldred.
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: I love Eldrick because he has so many people in
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: his life that he can and have fights with.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: It's the patriots against whoever they're playing that week because
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: he has some faction of his of his life that
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: he needs to well.
- 1:12:08Speaker 6: He against love.
- 1:12:10Speaker 9: He has a lot of material against his family. If
- 1:12:12Speaker 9: there are a lot of Steelers fans, Yeah.
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: And I agree with him. Metcalf Is is the big dog.
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: He's the one that you would focus on. I'm worried
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: about the tight ends a little bit. Yeah, the two
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: tight ends. You know, I think we talked a little
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: bit about the mistackles this week, and we've talked a
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: little bit about the holes in the middle, you know,
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: in the back end with the safeties. So those I
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: think friar Mouth and John new Smith they could be
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: guys to circle.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: They definitely pose an issue, you know, local kid fryar
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: Mouth my way, Oh yeah yeah, Merrimack Mass nice matchup
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: issues with those two.
- 1:12:49Speaker 6: Went to Pentucket High School.
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: See how they figure that out. Spencer Connecticut who went
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: sixteen to oh, first time emailing the show, but he
- 1:12:57Speaker 5: says this is one of the best football weeks of
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: his life because he went sixteen and oh and the
- 1:13:02Speaker 5: Patriots won. So he wants to know how does he
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: get his T shirt? Why don't you email your address?
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: So there's one down. Matt so Spencer and Connecticut you
- 1:13:12Speaker 5: can send him a T shirt. And he also says, PS,
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: shout out to my brother Zach and Baltimore for getting
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: me into the show. So Zach and Baltimore, thank you
- 1:13:21Speaker 5: for recruiting more listeners to.
- 1:13:24Speaker 9: The show, bringing families together.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: Yeah, appreciate that.
- 1:13:28Speaker 6: Nice. Congrats sixteen.
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: And oh, I mean that's obviously you can't do no
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: better than that. Not bad, not bad, not even.
- 1:13:35Speaker 6: You did better than that over there, Missy.
- 1:13:37Speaker 9: I don't know how I did.
- 1:13:38Speaker 6: Oh, you did very well again.
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: Fun facts is Dano in Chicago When I was a
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: freshman at Wellesley High. I'm pretty sure Paul coach baseball there. Personally,
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: it's correct, I played lacrosse. Shout out to my old
- 1:13:54Speaker 5: lacrosse coach, Chris Galinas.
- 1:13:56Speaker 6: Oh I remember, I remember remember Chris Galinas? Yes, I do.
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: You guys hung out so teacher's lounge to.
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: Yeah smoking, Yeah, no, so it must have been like
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: the mid nineties.
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I was there from ninety three to
- 1:14:12Speaker 6: ninety seven.
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: You ever think about getting back into you know, higher
- 1:14:16Speaker 5: level coaching the college or you know college.
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: They're probably not going to give a college job to
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: someone who hasn't coached in twenty years, right.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: A smaller college maybe.
- 1:14:26Speaker 6: No, I'd need some money. That's a lot of work.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: It's a lot of work.
- 1:14:31Speaker 6: But like I do it in high school. What like
- 1:14:33Speaker 6: I would I would absolutely be interested.
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: In What about when you retire?
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: Oh, I would.
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: I would be interested in getting like a like a
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: high school baseball job out my way.
- 1:14:42Speaker 6: I would absolutely be interested in that.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: So a couple of years ago, H Fenwick was between
- 1:14:47Speaker 4: baseball coaches and it had been a while the guy
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: had left, and it was like six or seven months
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: had gone by and there'd been no announcement over the
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: new coach.
- 1:14:55Speaker 6: So I talked to the athletic director.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: Whose kids played with my you know, so you know
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: we know that we know I knew them. It wasn't
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: just like some rando like athletic director. And I said, hey,
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: you know, and they had decided pretty much on a guy.
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: And I was like, well, he goes, why were you interested?
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: And I was like, well, yes, and no, I told
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: him the whole story. I was like, I have experienced
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: coach in high school and I would have been glad
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: to do it.
- 1:15:21Speaker 6: I just don't think I could do it.
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: Quote unquote right, Like, if you're doing it right, you
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: should be helping these kids. Like if if you have
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: good players, like you should be helping them get looks
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: in college. You should be sort of beating the AAU
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: pats and trying to get them and you know, get
- 1:15:38Speaker 4: them in front of people, scouts and whatnot. And like
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: I'm not in that game right now. So like could
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: I coach the baseball team?
- 1:15:45Speaker 6: Absolutely?
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: And you know, Fred, I don't lack for confidence. I
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: think I could do it better than most, But I
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: don't have, like I think, all the other stuff that
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: you really need to be a really good high school coach.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Maybe you should get help somebody to help you do that.
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: Well, I mean, if I were retired and I had
- 1:16:02Speaker 4: time to invest in it, what.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: A service to help the kids. And you do the coaching.
- 1:16:07Speaker 4: So if you, I know you dying to get rid
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: of me, because you often talk about what I should
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: be doing other than what I'm doing now, maybe if
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: you gave me a little bit more to wet my beak,
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: I would be willing to retire a little bit earlier.
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: Do you ever think of it that way?
- 1:16:22Speaker 5: Well, we'd all love that, we'd all love that. No,
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: I just I like to see people happy. So when
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: Brian Morey, for example, he was way you know, he was.
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: He had a good job with us at the Hall,
- 1:16:38Speaker 5: you know, making decent money.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: But he had this opportunity to.
- 1:16:44Speaker 5: Go back to high school be the head baseball coach
- 1:16:47Speaker 5: actually in the town that I live now coincidentally, uh
- 1:16:51Speaker 5: and you know, teach you how to teach a little.
- 1:16:53Speaker 6: He's also a full time teacher. That's what he's made.
- 1:16:57Speaker 5: You made the job now, but obviously, but he quit
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: here to become a teacher. He quit here to become
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: the baseball coach, right.
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: But he also had a job as a teacher. So
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: if well, I can't, I'm not qualified for that.
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: Neither was he. He figured it out.
- 1:17:11Speaker 6: He got certified.
- 1:17:13Speaker 13: You can do that too.
- 1:17:14Speaker 9: I can't do that even masters.
- 1:17:16Speaker 6: No.
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: First of all, he had two years, and he had
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: up to two years to get certified, so you don't
- 1:17:23Speaker 5: have to be certified on day one, and he got
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: it done.
- 1:17:25Speaker 6: I told you.
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: I did talk to Fenwick also about maybe teaching an
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: elective or something.
- 1:17:30Speaker 6: Yeah, I think maybe more.
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: Like a sports media clash or something like that. An elective,
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: not like one, not anything real.
- 1:17:37Speaker 9: You would run the school paper.
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, what are you going to call the school paper?
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: Brian?
- 1:17:45Speaker 5: Brian took the leap, he got the job, and he
- 1:17:49Speaker 5: taught mass media or something like that.
- 1:17:51Speaker 6: Yeah, he sent me a syllabus.
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: Yeah, and and so then we're talking. Now he's moved on.
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: Now he's the head coach in Wark in Rhode Island.
- 1:18:00Speaker 5: His it's it's Pilgrim, right, Pilgrim. I think, yeah, that's his.
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: But that's great, Like he's feelings something he really loves,
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: not that we don't all love our generation.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: Ready, I've thought about it a lot, in all seriousness,
- 1:18:14Speaker 4: like you're not off.
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: I could see myself coaching a tennis team, high school
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: tennis team.
- 1:18:19Speaker 6: Oh, that would be great.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: We would love that.
- 1:18:21Speaker 9: I could see you both as coaches.
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: I loved coaching high school baseball. I was probably a
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: little too young.
- 1:18:28Speaker 9: Did you do when your boys were in high school?
- 1:18:31Speaker 9: This way before then?
- 1:18:32Speaker 6: This is the nineties.
- 1:18:33Speaker 12: I want your more athletes to reach out.
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: I did it at Wellesley High and we were really good.
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: I coached the JB team and I was the assistant
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: varsity coach. My classic story is we're playing in the
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: tournament varsity down at Dighton Rehoboth back to Andy Hart's
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: Dyton Rehoboth days, and we were getting absolutely screwed big
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: shock by the amps all day.
- 1:18:58Speaker 6: Yeah, And there was a call.
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: Like in the fifth or sixth inning and another one
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: that went against us, and the coach just grabs me
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: by like the like he went crazy.
- 1:19:07Speaker 6: He was like, and he grabs me.
- 1:19:09Speaker 4: By the he goes go out there and get tossed.
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: So you don't have to tell me that. So I
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: went out and I lost my ever loving mind. Yeah,
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: and I culminated with first there was a play at
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: second base and I looked at my second basement and said,
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: did you get him?
- 1:19:25Speaker 6: And he goes, yeah, I got him.
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: And he was like the nicest, sweetest kid. So I
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: knew he wasn't lying to me, so I knew we
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: were right. And I looked at him, I go, are
- 1:19:35Speaker 4: you from Dighton or Rehoboth?
- 1:19:38Speaker 6: You can leave now that it was a good line.
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: That's a good one.
- 1:19:44Speaker 9: Was that your only ejection?
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: No more?
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: No, it wasn't my only ejection. Was it's my only
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: high school but my only high school ejection?
- 1:19:53Speaker 6: Now I also coaching the JV team. I was the
- 1:19:57Speaker 6: only coach.
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: I didn't have an assistant, and we used to get
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: a lot of the same umpires game after game, and
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: they really liked me, which was ironic because I gave
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: them such a hard time. And this is why I
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: say I was probably a little too young to be
- 1:20:12Speaker 4: doing it at the time. I didn't I never kept
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: my emotions in check. And I can't tell you. There's
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: one guy in particularly he goes I would have thrown
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: you out of so many games if you just had
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: anybody over there as an assistant. But I didn't want
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: to leave those kids without a coach. And I just
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: like just said, he's hard in his mind.
- 1:20:31Speaker 6: I'm going to let him go.
- 1:20:32Speaker 9: What would have happened, like you.
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: Just probably would play the game out or maybe they
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: would have to be a forfeit because the coach is thrown.
- 1:20:38Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: And the guy like the same guy, he was the
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: nicest guy. I would talk to these guys before the
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: game and it'd be like, hey, yeah, you know, like
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: and I would apologize for the previous.
- 1:20:48Speaker 6: Game, like I'm sorry that it again, and then it
- 1:20:50Speaker 6: would just happen again.
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: He can't help himself, he can't help I couldn't that's
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: why it was on video. I know.
- 1:20:57Speaker 6: Oh my god. You know who actually saw one of
- 1:20:59Speaker 6: these in person?
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: Oh Felger? Oh really, yeah, Felger went to one of
- 1:21:03Speaker 4: the games. Really and he goes, I couldn't believe it.
- 1:21:07Speaker 9: Why was he there to like support, No, it was
- 1:21:09Speaker 9: just like we were.
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: I don't I don't know exactly why he went back
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: when he was a human. But when we were in uh,
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: you know, we were working at the Herald together and
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: he was like, oh, I gotta watch I gotta watch
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: one of the yeah himself, and.
- 1:21:21Speaker 6: I like lost my mind.
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: Oh that's great.
- 1:21:23Speaker 9: I would show up for your coaching debut.
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: Joseph Pennsylvania.
- 1:21:27Speaker 20: Hey Joe, Hey guys, thanks for taking my call. And
- 1:21:30Speaker 20: I really just want to talk about that, uh that
- 1:21:33Speaker 20: second down play where we threw on it instead of run,
- 1:21:36Speaker 20: instead of ran for it at the end yep to
- 1:21:38Speaker 20: burn the clock now on that play, and I just
- 1:21:40Speaker 20: want to say, like, imagine if we completed that pass
- 1:21:44Speaker 20: and we got that first down, Like I forget how
- 1:21:45Speaker 20: many timeouts the Dolphins had or you know, exact time
- 1:21:48Speaker 20: on there, but that was basically would have been the game, right,
- 1:21:51Speaker 20: and that would have been a that would have looked
- 1:21:53Speaker 20: like a more of a demanding win. So just think
- 1:21:55Speaker 20: about how close we were to that. But but the
- 1:21:59Speaker 20: play in general, you know, that was going to mac
- 1:22:01Speaker 20: Hollins there, and Jack Jones was really cover him. He
- 1:22:05Speaker 20: was tight on him underneath Jack Jones was almost like
- 1:22:08Speaker 20: trying for that interception. They're like baiting the pass in there.
- 1:22:11Speaker 20: Is was mac Hollins really the guy that we wanted
- 1:22:14Speaker 20: right there? Or was that just more of a good
- 1:22:16Speaker 20: play by Jack Jones? And because, like what Evan said
- 1:22:20Speaker 20: the other day, like we signed Stefan Diggs not for
- 1:22:23Speaker 20: not for like these big yardage games right before those
- 1:22:27Speaker 20: for those guinea those gotta have it moments. So it's
- 1:22:31Speaker 20: like it's was it more so the play design that
- 1:22:33Speaker 20: it was made for going to going to Hallins? Like
- 1:22:36Speaker 20: like I.
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: Said, in other words, number one eight target, Yeah, I
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: would like I don't want to say this definitively without
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: having seen you know, like Evan and Mike when they
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: watched the Coaches tape and the All twenty two. But
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: my guess is it was a one man route and
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: what you're hoping for there is to trick the other team.
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: You know, you're given a little it's a second and eight,
- 1:22:59Speaker 4: you're running the clock out. They are expecting to run.
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: Rabelhead explains that the corners had been slamming down from
- 1:23:06Speaker 4: the outside and they did so in the previous play.
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: They're hoping to give the same look as the same run,
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: and they're gonna have you bite on it. And to
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: Jack Jones's credit, he didn't bite on it. He stayed
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: close enough to Hollins. I think he might have gotten
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: away with a little hold on the play, but close
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: enough that he stayed competitive. It was kind of like
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: the touchdown that Hollands caught, Like you're giving them a
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: look like you're gonna run the ball. He's slamming down,
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: you're running a little little play action look, little boot.
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: And I give Jack Jones credit, he played it reasonably well.
- 1:23:42Speaker 6: I love the idea of throwing the ball. I think
- 1:23:45Speaker 6: that's the.
- 1:23:45Speaker 4: Best way to try to get that first down to
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: run the clockout is to throw the ball, and that's
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: the down you throw it on.
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: Yeah, early, don't be as scary.
- 1:23:53Speaker 20: How often do you see the other team run like
- 1:23:56Speaker 20: the team runs it in the situation they're three runs
- 1:23:58Speaker 20: and they all get one yard run right?
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: Quite often and then the team gets it.
- 1:24:02Speaker 20: Back with forty five seconds left anyways.
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: Right, That's why I say, you know, thanks Joe. I
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: would rather try to get the first down and give
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: them a little more time. If I don't get it,
- 1:24:13Speaker 4: then run the ball into the line three times and
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: just hope. I mean there's different situations. If you know,
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: if if the Dolphins had no timeouts, as an example,
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: I would have just run it three times and let
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: the clock go down as far as I can and
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: you know, be satisfied that maybe they have fifteen seconds left,
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: but knowing they're going to as Joe just said, they
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: were going to have whatever amount of time anyway, right
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: because they were going to call timeouts.
- 1:24:41Speaker 6: Yeah, I think that's the best way to do it.
- 1:24:44Speaker 5: Well, Martin out of Kansas, it looks like the Steelers
- 1:24:47Speaker 5: interior O lineman just went down with a torn MCL.
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: Seems the injury bug is still on that team. Got
- 1:24:53Speaker 5: a lot of Steeler fans at my job. There seems
- 1:24:55Speaker 5: to be doom and gloom about their attitude right now.
- 1:24:58Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a more and it's a backup lineman, Max
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: sharping he towards ACL I guess in practice, but yeah,
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: they have gotten a lot of injuries early in the season,
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: and I think it's impacted the defense. You're missing that
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: amount of personnel. I think it's going to have an impact.
- 1:25:18Speaker 5: Yeah, let's see jack In and Arbor talking about arguments, said,
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: you want you need an argument.
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: What is the position of each member of.
- 1:25:27Speaker 5: The PU team on whether the Pats selected the right
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: quarterback when they drafted Drake May.
- 1:25:36Speaker 6: Can we argue that?
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: I don't think. I don't think there's an argument. I
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: don't think any of us.
- 1:25:40Speaker 6: You guys know how much I love Drake May in
- 1:25:41Speaker 6: that draft.
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I'm just going back at the time.
- 1:25:45Speaker 5: I don't think any of us were like, oh my god,
- 1:25:48Speaker 5: they should have taken I traded up to take Jaden
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: Daniels or whatever.
- 1:25:51Speaker 4: I'd still take him over Jayden and Daniels, even though
- 1:25:53Speaker 4: Jaden Daniels has accomplished far more. Right, That's how much
- 1:25:57Speaker 4: I liked Drake May coming out of the draft.
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: Yeah, So I wasn't you were you like Caleb Williams,
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: And I think if they had taken Caleb Williams.
- 1:26:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I would have taken Caleb Williams one, but he wasn't.
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: An option, right, He wasn't available, right, But.
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: I still like Caleb Williams, and I think if we
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: were in I think I think he's fixable because I
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: think the things that he lacks is more mental leadership
- 1:26:22Speaker 4: kind of stuff. It's more intangible stuff that he needs
- 1:26:25Speaker 4: to improve. Physically, I think he sees the field reasonably well.
- 1:26:29Speaker 4: He's a great athlete and he can throw. He can't
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: do the other stuff. He can't seem to be a
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: good teammate, you know, And I think that's fixable. I
- 1:26:39Speaker 4: think you can sort of develop that now. Maybe he
- 1:26:41Speaker 4: never will, but yeah, I don't.
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:26:45Speaker 6: I don't pull the plug.
- 1:26:46Speaker 4: On him yet the way so many others are quick
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: to do, you know, much like JJ McCarthy after one
- 1:26:52Speaker 4: good quarter or football, they should have drafted him over
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: Drake May last week when I was in Felgrim, Mass.
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: No one asked me this week at felgrinm Maz if
- 1:26:58Speaker 4: they should have drafted J. J.
- 1:27:01Speaker 6: McCarthy instead of Drake May. That didn't come up this week.
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: He didn't come up.
- 1:27:04Speaker 6: No, it came up last week. It didn't come up
- 1:27:06Speaker 6: this week.
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: Did you bring it up?
- 1:27:08Speaker 6: I didn't.
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: I meant to come on, No, But when you watch
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: Caleb Williams that the talent is evident.
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: It's evident. He just needs coaching.
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: And I think if Ben Jonson is what a lot
- 1:27:21Speaker 4: of people think he is, I think he might fix
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: him of this stuff. You know, it's just it's just
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: starting out. It's just a couple of you know, it's
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: two games into his second year. I'm not I think
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: there's too much talent there to just say he'll never
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: do it and it gets an easy out.
- 1:27:41Speaker 6: I mean, doesn't look good so far. I'll admit that.
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: So Dan and Virginia and Michigan. Subject line is injury calculus.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: What's the injury calculus like with regards to playing Gonzales
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: this week rather than next week? By that, I mean,
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: is there a lower chance Gonzales plays this week because
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: the opponent is better, especially in their receivers, and thus
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: there is more work required of the secondary, whereas if
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: they were playing the Panthers, it would be an easier
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: day theoretically, and they could ease in Gonzales a bit more.
- 1:28:15Speaker 6: I don't think that that has anything to do with it.
- 1:28:18Speaker 6: Maybe he's right.
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: I would guess that the calculus is he he needs
- 1:28:23Speaker 4: more than a week of practice before he gets back.
- 1:28:25Speaker 6: On the game field. Yeah, I think he's healthy now.
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: Yeah, but do they feel like he needs six days
- 1:28:32Speaker 4: of practice instead of three days of practice to be
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: ready to play in a game after being out for
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: almost what eight weeks?
- 1:28:38Speaker 6: That to me is the calculus. Yeah, do you guys?
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: Yeah, when's he ready?
- 1:28:44Speaker 4: Because I don't think he'd be back on the practice
- 1:28:46Speaker 4: field if he wasn't healthy enough to be on the
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: practice field. So I think from a health standpoint, he
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: could play Sunday. But I kind of agree with Fred.
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: Would you put it at like forty? I put it
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: at twenty five five percent.
- 1:28:58Speaker 6: I think I put it at forty. I agree with
- 1:29:00Speaker 6: you guys.
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: It's probably unlikely because he missed so much time. They
- 1:29:04Speaker 4: don't think he's gonna be ready like to play in
- 1:29:08Speaker 4: an NFL game, But I think physically he probably.
- 1:29:10Speaker 6: Could do it.
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: Tyler has a prediction game. It's called call me now
- 1:29:16Speaker 5: for your free reading. Which of the pair of news
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: headlines below is more likely to happen after the season
- 1:29:23Speaker 5: is over?
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: Okay, got me now for your prereading.
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: Pat's League league in sacks with four players having twelve
- 1:29:33Speaker 5: plus each, or Pats send two rookies to the Pro Bowl.
- 1:29:37Speaker 6: Pat send two rookies to the Pro Bowl.
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: Okay, Pat's proved Gonzo isn't needed by season's end. Or
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: Hunter Henry passes Russ Francis with third most te touchdowns.
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: He's currently nine behind.
- 1:29:50Speaker 6: Hunter Henry passes Okay.
- 1:29:53Speaker 5: Ben Johnson is out after one season in Chicago. Or
- 1:29:56Speaker 5: Kellen Moore wins Coach of the Year in New Orleans
- 1:30:00Speaker 5: More wins Coach of the Yeah, I think that's more likely.
- 1:30:02Speaker 5: Uh Kurse retires to replace by Tom e Kerrn or
- 1:30:06Speaker 5: Perillo reached a settlement with team after years of stagnant pay.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: Retires.
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: Probably Curse retires because there's no way I'm getting anything.
- 1:30:16Speaker 5: And finally, Eric Scalavino's new book climbs to the New
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: York Times bestseller list.
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: Or Andy Hart leads a vegan movement in Boston.
- 1:30:25Speaker 6: I gotta go with Eric there.
- 1:30:28Speaker 9: Unless Andy did it sarcastically.
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: Actually, I could see. I could see Andy all of
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: a sudden becoming a vegan.
- 1:30:33Speaker 6: Yeah, you guys, just the kind of trendy, like, oh, it's.
- 1:30:39Speaker 9: Cool, the vegan movements not trend impossible.
- 1:30:42Speaker 6: Burgers are good, but that's now.
- 1:30:43Speaker 9: It's the grass fed meat movement, carnivor movement.
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: And he would do it for a year and then
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: he would quit and get bored of it. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: I could see that.
- 1:30:55Speaker 5: Gavin wants to know who do you think has the
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: coaching edge? This week we talked about that. I think
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: yesterday I.
- 1:31:01Speaker 6: Think it's a wash. Yeah, they're both good coaches. I
- 1:31:03Speaker 6: think they have good staffs. You know.
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: I think Arthur Smith is a former head coach who's
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: their offensive coordinator. Josh McDaniels is a former head coach
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: who's Patriots offensive coordinator.
- 1:31:13Speaker 6: I think it's a wash.
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: Colin Farrozzi writes in do you think at some point
- 1:31:19Speaker 5: Zach Corer would be named interim d C assistant d
- 1:31:22Speaker 5: C if Terrell Williams situation continues.
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: I don't have enough information there to know not, but
- 1:31:31Speaker 4: I've thought about it. I don't know what Terrell Williams
- 1:31:33Speaker 4: is long term. Yeah, you know, when I say long term,
- 1:31:36Speaker 4: I mean within this season. You know, prognosis is well today,
- 1:31:40Speaker 4: Prognosi right. I just don't have enough information.
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: So we're waiting for Deuce to come back because we've
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: got to start picks. But I don't want to start
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: without him.
- 1:31:49Speaker 4: All right, why don't we give it another like three
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: or four minutes, and if he doesn't come back, we'll
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: have to start. We do have to hurry, especially if
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: you know we only have three of us.
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: Well, she's waiting for her flowers.
- 1:32:03Speaker 6: You too, guy, don't sell yourself, shout.
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: William writes in got plenty of emails, though.
- 1:32:08Speaker 6: I'm the only one who's completely useless.
- 1:32:10Speaker 5: Perillo's points was mentioned by an email or last show.
- 1:32:14Speaker 5: In the sixth grade in twenty ten, I would watch
- 1:32:17Speaker 5: Parrillo's Points every Friday on my dial up Internet to
- 1:32:20Speaker 5: get Paul's prediction for the game to decrease my chances
- 1:32:24Speaker 5: of crying if they would lose on Sunday. They lost
- 1:32:26Speaker 5: to the Jets in the divisional round that year. That
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: soon followed years of watching the old PFWTV and the
- 1:32:32Speaker 5: trash Talk segment with Andy and Paul. Finally, when I
- 1:32:36Speaker 5: went to college, I became a regular listener. In twenty eighteen, Mike,
- 1:32:40Speaker 5: that was the last time the Patriots won the Super Bowl. Now,
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: almost ten years later, I'm seeing my first game in
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: person this Sunday with my wife against the Steelers.
- 1:32:48Speaker 6: Wow.
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: Wow, So that's what you call the pyramid of fandom.
- 1:32:53Speaker 5: Yeah, start down here, start to go up, and finally
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: you get to that where you're at the game, actually
- 1:33:00Speaker 5: at the game spending money.
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: That was sobering to listen to. In this what do
- 1:33:08Speaker 4: you say the sixth grade?
- 1:33:09Speaker 9: They sound like they're as old as I am.
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: He was in the sixth grade when I was giving,
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: and he would he would watch the three points just
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: to get the prediction.
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: Used to be a when it started five points, there
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: was two offense, two defense, and then a prediction. Then
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: I went down to three, so it was one offense,
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: one defense in a prediction.
- 1:33:30Speaker 9: Taking your airtime away.
- 1:33:32Speaker 5: David writes in today's is twenty fourth birthday from Madrid.
- 1:33:38Speaker 5: Happy birthday. How do you say happy birthday in Spanish?
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: At least okay, at least cooplianos nailed. I want to
- 1:33:47Speaker 5: thank you guys and cash twenty two because you guys
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: are the reason I started to become an NFL fan.
- 1:33:52Speaker 5: I come from a Red Sox family, but not a
- 1:33:54Speaker 5: real football one.
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: So okay, So there you go.
- 1:33:57Speaker 9: Another through the game.
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:34:00Speaker 5: The biggest question is the following with the Steelers being
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: a man to man and blitzing team. Are we going
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: to see a lot of screens from McDaniels also, Well,
- 1:34:08Speaker 5: we see more of Marty Mapoo Marte mar Pooh this
- 1:34:13Speaker 5: week because since he got one of the honorary balls
- 1:34:15Speaker 5: last week.
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: Or is that reading too much into it?
- 1:34:17Speaker 5: With ellison splane being underwhelming these first two weeks, yeah, you.
- 1:34:23Speaker 4: Could see a little more of ma Poo. But he
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: mean he had a big mistackle too.
- 1:34:30Speaker 9: However he was we just had that clutch interception, right, Yeah.
- 1:34:32Speaker 5: With the big issue, we think being tight ends, could
- 1:34:37Speaker 5: Mapoo be an answer or at least try to be
- 1:34:40Speaker 5: an answer for them.
- 1:34:41Speaker 6: A little bit bigger and more mobile.
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: Yep, you know, with some coverage, some experience as a
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: you know, kind of a safety linebacker hybrid.
- 1:34:49Speaker 6: Yeah that makes sense. Yeah, you guys sold me on it.
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: Okay, Barton poland Paul is right.
- 1:34:55Speaker 5: With Gonzo looking like he could be back, Steelers facing
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: a ton of injuries in the defense, Burrow set to
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: miss at least three months, meaning he will also miss
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: the game with us. Paul saying that it always works
- 1:35:05Speaker 5: out for the Patriots looks as true as ever.
- 1:35:07Speaker 6: Be nice to get that back into vogue.
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: Yeah, right, yep.
- 1:35:12Speaker 4: I mean that was trending for a while. Basically from
- 1:35:16Speaker 4: like one through nineteen inclusive. Spread everything worked out.
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: Everything worked out for the Patriots, from the weather on down.
- 1:35:26Speaker 6: It always said, it always works out for the Patriots.
- 1:35:30Speaker 12: It's like that Family Guy episode where like Peter Griffin
- 1:35:32Speaker 12: makes a deal with I don't know if he makes
- 1:35:34Speaker 12: a deal with the devil or with God, but he
- 1:35:37Speaker 12: gets Belichick to smile and then he's like, Okay, the
- 1:35:39Speaker 12: Patriots are like protected.
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: Now that's what people thought.
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: Kraft had a dealt Belichick had a weather machine.
- 1:35:46Speaker 5: Yeah, that Ernie Adams controlled it right, all right? Spin
- 1:35:50Speaker 5: the dial, Stacy. I could be wrong because I don't
- 1:35:53Speaker 5: watch as much, so please correct me. But the Steelers
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: seem to often lean on those safety coverages behind their
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: pressure looks with high Smith out especially, would you agree
- 1:36:05Speaker 5: that the Patriots should just run the ball down their
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: throats to set up more play action?
- 1:36:10Speaker 6: Look?
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: Sorry, worried.
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: Devin Henry, Hey, Mike what it kind of feels like
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: that's the spirit of the song.
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: He's like, well, this is back from the locker room.
- 1:36:38Speaker 7: Yeah, sorry, sorry, I tried to get back quick. We
- 1:36:40Speaker 7: not a lot of interviews going on there. Uh in
- 1:36:42Speaker 7: there today, but uh you know quick ones with with
- 1:36:44Speaker 7: Jared Wilson and Milton Williams who lovely Alex had a
- 1:36:47Speaker 7: chance to talk to you yesterday as well. Yeah, there
- 1:36:50Speaker 7: weren't uppers today, so they got their shoulder pads. That's
- 1:36:53Speaker 7: what they call paul right, when you just wear the
- 1:36:54Speaker 7: shoulder pads and not the lower.
- 1:36:56Speaker 6: They have the regular shoulder pads or.
- 1:36:57Speaker 7: The regular shoulder not the Yeah, I know they had
- 1:37:01Speaker 7: the big boys on so maybe they get a little
- 1:37:03Speaker 7: physical today, but I know we got picks. Not a
- 1:37:06Speaker 7: lot to take away from the locker room today. Everybody
- 1:37:08Speaker 7: seemed pretty ready to get out there again. I'm trying
- 1:37:11Speaker 7: to get Robert splain, but he's been getting out there
- 1:37:13Speaker 7: pretty quick. I'd like to hear from him, but nothing
- 1:37:15Speaker 7: so far.
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: And he was go Zalis.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: Still Gonzalez look actually suck kee on white in the
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: locker room.
- 1:37:21Speaker 7: That's probably a good note to make. He was in
- 1:37:22Speaker 7: the locker room today, saw him walking out then. I'm
- 1:37:26Speaker 7: not sure if he's going out and with the shoulder pads,
- 1:37:28Speaker 7: so he might still be limited, but probably good sign.
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: He was in the locker room, okay.
- 1:37:31Speaker 7: And I saw Gonzo in there as well, So yeah,
- 1:37:34Speaker 7: hopefully link the injury report.
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: Hopefully those guys are able to go.
- 1:37:37Speaker 5: Sounds good, all right, it is that time of the week.
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: Okay, what happened last week?
- 1:37:48Speaker 4: So Fred, you took the challenge last week. Didn't want
- 1:37:53Speaker 4: to let our girl Alex just walk away with it,
- 1:37:56Speaker 4: so you both went thirteen and three, which is so
- 1:38:00Speaker 4: would work? Continuing the solid work be Mike and Evan
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: at eleven and five. Nothing nothing to sneeze at their
- 1:38:08Speaker 4: good solid record, all.
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: Like chicken chicken fingers.
- 1:38:14Speaker 6: Paul was seven. No further further.
- 1:38:20Speaker 4: With the spread, as Fred likes to say, where the
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: men separated.
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: From the boys or the women from the girls.
- 1:38:28Speaker 4: Correct Bred eleven and five with the spread good number
- 1:38:32Speaker 4: one spread. Evan ball noer ten and six, followed by
- 1:38:39Speaker 4: Alex at seven and nine. You gotta pick it up
- 1:38:41Speaker 4: a little bit, okay, spread Mike six and ten.
- 1:38:47Speaker 5: And Paul went and eleven. You're gonna get your ever
- 1:38:52Speaker 5: at I D card taken away.
- 1:38:54Speaker 6: So these these numbers are not pretty for me.
- 1:38:56Speaker 4: I have completely lost my feel for the league. The
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: overall through week two standings, this is pretty impressive. Alex
- 1:39:04Speaker 4: twenty seven and five, that's a good records. Damn Fred,
- 1:39:09Speaker 4: you get flowers too, twenty six and six, Nipping at
- 1:39:12Speaker 4: the heels Mike, Mike twenty three and nine. On a
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: normal year, that would be right in the money.
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: But or on one of your shows.
- 1:39:24Speaker 6: Evan twenty and twelve, Paul seventeen and fifteen, woween fifteen.
- 1:39:33Speaker 6: I'm just going to go to my one here for
- 1:39:34Speaker 6: a second.
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: I want to apologize to the emailer who in the
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: sixth grade used to listen into three points with Perillo
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: just to get a prediction from me.
- 1:39:45Speaker 6: I'm just killing everybody.
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: This seventeen and fifteen is completely unacceptable. Changes will be
- 1:39:50Speaker 4: made if things do not change quickly, bottoms of that record.
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: So promise, I'll just make this promise to all of
- 1:39:58Speaker 4: you right now.
- 1:39:58Speaker 6: I will be better. I will do better.
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: Next show we have Matisa's going to say that we
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: relegate all for one episode.
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: With the Spread put him down to Catch twenty teen,
- 1:40:07Speaker 4: Fred Spread nineteen and thirteen leads the way. Everybody's kind
- 1:40:13Speaker 4: of struggling with the Spread Alex and Evans sixteen and sixteen,
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: followed by Mike at fourteen and eighteen.
- 1:40:20Speaker 6: I No Balls eleven and twenty one.
- 1:40:23Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: Even how you going to pay for college?
- 1:40:27Speaker 6: Wow?
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: Not by gambling?
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: Why I'm driving around twenty thirteen hundred cord with two
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: hundred and eighty thousand miles on it and a rejection
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: sticker out?
- 1:40:35Speaker 6: But this is a good Why is where it's all going.
- 1:40:38Speaker 5: This is a good sign for the Patriots that that
- 1:40:40Speaker 5: I'm doing so well because we are SpotCo mesh all right.
- 1:40:45Speaker 5: Tonight eight fifteen on Prime Video is the zero and
- 1:40:48Speaker 5: two Dolphins against the two and zero Bills.
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: The Bills are favored by twelve and a half. And
- 1:40:54Speaker 4: the only question I have is this the final game
- 1:40:58Speaker 4: is Miami Dolphins head coach for Mike McDaniel.
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: That's going a lot, isn't it? A little bit of him?
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: I mean, it's on the road. Buffalo has owned Miami.
- 1:41:06Speaker 7: You just lost a tough last minute game to a league,
- 1:41:09Speaker 7: you know, division rival, and now you've got to go
- 1:41:11Speaker 7: play one.
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: Of the best in the league.
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: I think that's why people are thinking it's probably going
- 1:41:15Speaker 4: to be the last game for him, because they just
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: lost to the Patriots.
- 1:41:17Speaker 7: Yeah, it so it's more about the Patriots, And then
- 1:41:19Speaker 7: it's just this is a really big ass to go
- 1:41:21Speaker 7: up the Buffalo and know your careers on the line.
- 1:41:23Speaker 7: You gotta beat Josh Allen. That's going a lot. I
- 1:41:26Speaker 7: got Buffalo alay the points.
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: It is his last game, Buffalo Buffalo.
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: Yeah, normally I would take the points in a Thursday
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: night game, but I can't.
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: I just yeah, frankly, I'm that close in terms of
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: the points. I'm going to go both ways.
- 1:41:43Speaker 6: Three for being home.
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: That's true. I've heard it's true.
- 1:41:46Speaker 6: It's really only a nine and a half point.
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: But I'm gonna I'm going both ways with Buffalo as well.
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: I'm looking for a blood bath. But you never know.
- 1:41:55Speaker 7: Do you think Miami has any fighting them or do
- 1:41:56Speaker 7: you think they're just waiting to waiting to pack it in.
- 1:41:58Speaker 4: I didn't think that they showed a tremendous amount of
- 1:42:00Speaker 4: fight in the game. I know that they got back,
- 1:42:03Speaker 4: you know, off the mat, and they executed a little
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: bit better, But I didn't really think that they showed
- 1:42:07Speaker 4: a lot of fight in the game last week either. No,
- 1:42:09Speaker 4: I don't think that they'll have much now. But Thursday
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: night games can be funny sometimes. You know, the team
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: Buffalo's probably spent short week, Miami's reeling. We always beat
- 1:42:21Speaker 4: them at home, especially you know, never.
- 1:42:24Speaker 5: Know, or as Parcels would put out the mouse traps
- 1:42:27Speaker 5: for this game, you'd hang them from this and take
- 1:42:29Speaker 5: the cheese, and take the cheese.
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: Take the cheese.
- 1:42:32Speaker 4: You're gonna Those are the kind of stories you're gonna
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: tell them Saturday, we might.
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: Remember used to say, don't take the cheese.
- 1:42:39Speaker 6: That was cool, that was awesome.
- 1:42:41Speaker 13: All right.
- 1:42:42Speaker 5: We moved to Sunday at one on Fox. The one
- 1:42:44Speaker 5: on one Falcons are at the oh and two Panthers.
- 1:42:48Speaker 6: Atlanta by five and a half.
- 1:42:51Speaker 7: Yeah, I could division game. I'm gonna take Atlanta and
- 1:42:54Speaker 7: this one I'll lay the points.
- 1:42:57Speaker 9: I'm gonna take Atlanta.
- 1:42:59Speaker 12: Carolina's made games like kind of close and then ultimately lose.
- 1:43:05Speaker 9: I'll give Carolina the points.
- 1:43:10Speaker 4: I am gonna do the same as Alex because she's
- 1:43:13Speaker 4: leading the contest, so I'm just gonna cheat off of
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: her picks.
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: What was the number again?
- 1:43:18Speaker 6: Five and a half?
- 1:43:18Speaker 4: Oh, Atlanta, I'll take to win, but I'll take Carolina
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: to cover its back to a cover for the Panthers
- 1:43:24Speaker 4: last ye.
- 1:43:25Speaker 5: Yeah, the reason why I'm doing well is because of
- 1:43:28Speaker 5: this Panthers both ways.
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: Okay, wow, so be riding high coming here next week.
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why you gotta have You.
- 1:43:37Speaker 4: Know, you're not in first place, alex Is just I
- 1:43:40Speaker 4: am against the spread.
- 1:43:41Speaker 6: It's different.
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: That's all that counts you.
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: Yeah, she picked the same as you with the spread. Okay,
- 1:43:47Speaker 4: you picked them to win.
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: I know, but I'm winning against the spread.
- 1:43:50Speaker 6: But you're a game behind.
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: It doesn't matter, not against the spread.
- 1:43:54Speaker 2: That's what counts.
- 1:43:56Speaker 7: See to the caller wants me to like chime in
- 1:43:58Speaker 7: and break up this magic, like let them work, like,
- 1:44:01Speaker 7: just let them cook, let's do it.
- 1:44:03Speaker 6: You don't want to hear me?
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: Am I bad?
- 1:44:04Speaker 2: All right?
- 1:44:07Speaker 13: Sixteen?
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: The two and oh Packers are at the zero to two.
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: Brown Packers might be playing the best of any team
- 1:44:14Speaker 4: so far through two weeks.
- 1:44:16Speaker 6: They are favored by eight and a half.
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: Yeah they are.
- 1:44:18Speaker 7: Uh, you know what though, I'm gonna I I just
- 1:44:21Speaker 7: I can't get out of my head. Jordan Love just
- 1:44:23Speaker 7: has some ups and downstill. I'm not ruling to say
- 1:44:25Speaker 7: like he's fully arrived just yet. I'm going to take
- 1:44:27Speaker 7: green Bay to win, but I'm gonna take the Cleveland points.
- 1:44:30Speaker 7: Tough defense, maybe a little bit of a sloppy day
- 1:44:32Speaker 7: from the green Bay offense.
- 1:44:33Speaker 12: Cleveland cover is tempting, but I am riding with green
- 1:44:36Speaker 12: Bay both ways until they give me a reason to not.
- 1:44:42Speaker 4: So I'm gonna go with Mike, even though Mike's not
- 1:44:44Speaker 4: doing very well with the spread. I'm gonna take green
- 1:44:46Speaker 4: Bay to win. They're much better team than Cleveland. But
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: I agree the Browns defense is pretty good, and I
- 1:44:52Speaker 4: think that they'll slow down.
- 1:44:54Speaker 6: The Packers a little bit. I'll take the cover.
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: Correct.
- 1:44:58Speaker 6: Okay, Brown's cover.
- 1:45:01Speaker 5: Packers win one o'clock on CBS. I went two Texans
- 1:45:05Speaker 5: at the one and one Jaguars.
- 1:45:08Speaker 6: Jacksonville by two and a half.
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: I didn't really catch much of that Jacksonville Bengals game.
- 1:45:14Speaker 6: A game that Jacksonville probably should have won. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:45:17Speaker 6: I know.
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: I know they feel like got a.
- 1:45:19Speaker 6: Bad pass in affarance call on Travis Hunter too.
- 1:45:22Speaker 7: Yeah, I feels like there's some they're spinning their ros
- 1:45:24Speaker 7: a little bit. I'm gonna I'm gonna take Jacksonville to win.
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: Not sure what's up with Nick Keyley and c J. Stroud.
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: Same same problems as they had last year. Yeah, offensive
- 1:45:34Speaker 4: line is not good. Jaggs, Jaggs, you know, I'm gonna
- 1:45:44Speaker 4: take Houston to win outright.
- 1:45:46Speaker 6: Wow, Okay, why seventeen and fifteen and eleven and twenty.
- 1:45:51Speaker 5: Oh, but that that that's a courageous pick. I'm gonna
- 1:45:55Speaker 5: take Jaguars both ways one o'clock at CBS, the two
- 1:45:59Speaker 5: and zero Benk goals are at the one and one.
- 1:46:01Speaker 4: Vikings Minnesota by three. Right, So we battle of backup quarter.
- 1:46:07Speaker 7: Carson Wentz against Jake what's his name around Browning?
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: Browning?
- 1:46:12Speaker 7: Uh Man, There's a lot of factors that work here.
- 1:46:18Speaker 7: You know what, I'm gonna go Cincy on the road.
- 1:46:20Speaker 7: I just I'm gonna lean slightly towards Jake Browning over
- 1:46:25Speaker 7: Carson Wentz saw I'm interviewed today. Don't really seem like
- 1:46:28Speaker 7: he's he's been up the speed just yet. So I'll
- 1:46:30Speaker 7: take Cincy, give me the points.
- 1:46:33Speaker 12: I'm gonna take Minnesota at home both ways.
- 1:46:38Speaker 6: So I'm going to take Cincinnati as well.
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: And it is for what Mike said, I think more
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: of Browning than I do Wentz at this stage. I
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: saw her stat today on Carson Wentz He's going to
- 1:46:47Speaker 4: become the first player NFL history to start six straight
- 1:46:50Speaker 4: years for six different teams.
- 1:46:52Speaker 6: Wow, that quarterback. I didn't look it up. So I
- 1:46:55Speaker 6: don't know if it's true, but everything you've read on
- 1:46:57Speaker 6: the internet is true.
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: That's true. Yeah, we'll just go with it.
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: Taking the Vikings for obvious reasons. I hate the Bengals,
- 1:47:04Speaker 5: but I do.
- 1:47:04Speaker 6: It's obvious. You don't have to tell everybody.
- 1:47:06Speaker 2: I was impressed by the Bengals winning last week. I
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: have to give it to them.
- 1:47:10Speaker 12: Yeah, that was quarterback ye running a great quote like,
- 1:47:14Speaker 12: how do you kind of like keep the right mindset
- 1:47:16Speaker 12: through the game?
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: He was like, I'm delusional, Yeah, but I'm really rooting
- 1:47:21Speaker 2: hard for the Vikings there. They don't look too good though.
- 1:47:25Speaker 5: One o'clock on Fox, the two and oh Rams at
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: the two and oh Eagles.
- 1:47:29Speaker 6: One of the best days. This is a one o'clock game.
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: Yeah, big, big one o'clock slate this week.
- 1:47:35Speaker 6: So this this game is the Rams are at Philadelphia.
- 1:47:40Speaker 2: The Rams are at Philadelphia.
- 1:47:42Speaker 4: Paul, Okay, Well, I wrote it down wrong, and I thing,
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: and that's very rare for me.
- 1:47:45Speaker 7: Well three and a half, three and a half, all right,
- 1:47:50Speaker 7: I'm gonna go with Paul's guy, Matthew Stafford.
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: I think I think the Rams have what it takes
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: to knock off Philly. Pull off an upset. I'm gonna
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: go with the upset Rams.
- 1:48:01Speaker 12: I'm going to take Philly at home, but I think
- 1:48:03Speaker 12: the Rams make it a close one in cover.
- 1:48:07Speaker 6: I'm going to take Philly both ways.
- 1:48:10Speaker 4: I do think the Rams they probably played Philadelphia as well.
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: I mean, they definitely played them better than anybody in
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: the playoffs last year, but they had a pretty close
- 1:48:18Speaker 4: game in the regular season as well. I just think
- 1:48:21Speaker 4: the Eagles are a little bit better, and I think
- 1:48:23Speaker 4: at home they'll they'll cover.
- 1:48:25Speaker 2: I agree, but the Eagles don't cover on the Okay, Yeah,
- 1:48:30Speaker 2: gives me a chance.
- 1:48:30Speaker 6: Yep, it gives me a chance to pick up a
- 1:48:32Speaker 6: game with the spread.
- 1:48:33Speaker 5: There one o'clock on Fox, the zero to two Jets
- 1:48:37Speaker 5: are at the two and zero Buccaneers.
- 1:48:40Speaker 4: Let's see Baker is baking with a seven point favorite
- 1:48:44Speaker 4: and seven point.
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: Justin fields out.
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: Yeah it was.
- 1:48:47Speaker 7: Tyrod Taylor is part Taylor who probably has a record
- 1:48:49Speaker 7: like that.
- 1:48:50Speaker 4: He looks for a lot of three yard passes. Yeah,
- 1:48:53Speaker 4: I all interceptions.
- 1:48:54Speaker 7: I won't apologize for last week because I said in
- 1:48:56Speaker 7: the picks that I thought CJ.
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: Straut was better than Baker Mayfield.
- 1:48:59Speaker 2: I was.
- 1:49:00Speaker 7: I think I've been scarred by watching Baker Mayfield play
- 1:49:02Speaker 7: here in a joint practice and listen to me, and that's.
- 1:49:04Speaker 6: All you have to than Baker Mayfield.
- 1:49:07Speaker 7: I mean not maybe not right at the moment. I
- 1:49:09Speaker 7: don't know that I'm gonna take Tampa. I won't make
- 1:49:12Speaker 7: that mistake again. I'm gonna lay the seven points for
- 1:49:15Speaker 7: the Jets for sure, Tampa Tampa.
- 1:49:19Speaker 6: I will take Tampa, but I will take the points.
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: Yep, me too. That's an easy one. Close to a lot,
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: but not quite.
- 1:49:28Speaker 5: Sunday at one CBS, the two and oh cults are
- 1:49:32Speaker 5: at the oh and two Titans.
- 1:49:36Speaker 6: Ind by four and a half on the road four
- 1:49:38Speaker 6: and a half.
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: Daniel Jones, just you love to see it.
- 1:49:41Speaker 7: I love the chaos of the league punts. I mean,
- 1:49:45Speaker 7: I just I love when something like this happens and
- 1:49:47Speaker 7: it turns all your conventional wisdom about quarterbacking on its
- 1:49:50Speaker 7: head and all that.
- 1:49:51Speaker 6: Much like coaching matters, it does well.
- 1:49:54Speaker 7: I'm gonna I'm gonna keep the train wrolling. DJ I'm
- 1:49:58Speaker 7: gonna lay the points too against Tennessee.
- 1:50:02Speaker 4: Oh boy, I am gonna take the Colts, but I
- 1:50:05Speaker 4: will take the points. I think the Colts might have
- 1:50:08Speaker 4: been as Fred likes to say, smelling their farts all
- 1:50:11Speaker 4: the week and you know, feeling good about themselves and
- 1:50:13Speaker 4: they are on the road division game.
- 1:50:15Speaker 6: I'll take the points.
- 1:50:16Speaker 5: I'm gonna take Titans outright, Yeah, I just I can't
- 1:50:21Speaker 5: live with the three and oh Colts.
- 1:50:23Speaker 2: That's that's poor to me, weird.
- 1:50:26Speaker 6: Musa be so hard to have all that hate in
- 1:50:27Speaker 6: one head.
- 1:50:28Speaker 5: Yeah, Sunday at one, the one and one Raiders are
- 1:50:32Speaker 5: at the one in one Commanders.
- 1:50:35Speaker 6: Commanders by three with no Jaden Daniels.
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's uh.
- 1:50:40Speaker 6: Marcus Mario too, this is another one.
- 1:50:42Speaker 7: I'm scarred because, like I see Geno Smith come here
- 1:50:44Speaker 7: and just have his way with the.
- 1:50:45Speaker 4: Patriots to watch them, and he's never had a football
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: in his hands before.
- 1:50:50Speaker 7: I just don't get it. You know, I'm gonna take shoot.
- 1:50:54Speaker 7: I think I'm gonna have to go back. Man, this
- 1:50:56Speaker 7: is a really hard one. Who's this backup for Washington?
- 1:50:59Speaker 6: Mat Marcus Mario might want to pay attention when I
- 1:51:02Speaker 6: give you information.
- 1:51:04Speaker 7: Oh man, that's why she's leading the picks.
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: I'm going to go with Vegas. I don't feel great
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: about it, though.
- 1:51:11Speaker 4: Vegas, you say so, Yeah, I'm going to do it too.
- 1:51:20Speaker 4: I'm going to pick Vegas. Gino Smith's better than he
- 1:51:23Speaker 4: played last week. He'll bounce back.
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: Brady in the booth. He be in the booth for
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: this game.
- 1:51:29Speaker 5: But I am going to take the Raiders to win
- 1:51:31Speaker 5: the game. This is part of the Commanders. Let's really
- 1:51:34Speaker 5: strength fall back to Earth from last year.
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:51:38Speaker 4: We predicted that, Uh, we did predict it, but I
- 1:51:42Speaker 4: wouldn't necessarily have predicted that Jade Daniels wasn't going to
- 1:51:45Speaker 4: be It's.
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: Tough to win in the NFL.
- 1:51:47Speaker 5: And you know, all right now we skip over the
- 1:51:51Speaker 5: Patriots at one o'clock and we moved to four oh five.
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: This must be a typo. The Broncos are on the
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: road for the second week in a row at the
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: Chargers one in one, Broncos two and oh.
- 1:52:02Speaker 6: Chargers the lack by two and a half.
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: It's an interesting line. Uh. This is a good game.
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: I mean, this is a good Uh, this is a
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: good red zone game. Paul watching Justin Herbert that I.
- 1:52:12Speaker 4: Really bummed out that the Rams and Eagles are at
- 1:52:15Speaker 4: one o'clock. That would have been prime red zone for me.
- 1:52:17Speaker 7: Yeah, I gotta go with Justin Herbert. He's playing too
- 1:52:21Speaker 7: good right now. I'll lay the points.
- 1:52:23Speaker 9: Chargers, Chargers.
- 1:52:27Speaker 4: Yeah, this is a spot where the Chargers typically would
- 1:52:31Speaker 4: like stumble when everybody's like.
- 1:52:33Speaker 6: Oh, they've they've.
- 1:52:34Speaker 4: Turned the corner. They're a good team now. But I'm
- 1:52:36Speaker 4: gonna I'm gonna put some faith in them. I think
- 1:52:38Speaker 4: Herbert looks a little different to me.
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: And this is year two of Harbaugh. Yeah, yeah, that's
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: a big deal, right, it's a big deal.
- 1:52:44Speaker 5: I think they take the Chargers four oh five on
- 1:52:48Speaker 5: CBS oh and two Saints at the one and one Seahawks.
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: Saints have been a little frisky, even though the winless
- 1:52:56Speaker 4: uh Seattle by seven seven.
- 1:53:00Speaker 7: I don't think is gonna be frisky in Seattle. I'll
- 1:53:02Speaker 7: take Seattle all lay the points.
- 1:53:06Speaker 9: I'll take Seattle. I'll give them New Orleans points.
- 1:53:09Speaker 6: I'm gonna go with my.
- 1:53:10Speaker 9: Yeah, I A I'm trying to hed I'm trying to
- 1:53:12Speaker 9: hedge you.
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: I do think at Seattle tough when you're not used
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: to playing there. I'll take Seattle both ways. I do
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: think New Orlean's been a little yeah risky though.
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe teams are underestimating them a little bit. I
- 1:53:24Speaker 2: don't know. I'm gonna take Seahawks both ways too.
- 1:53:27Speaker 5: For twenty five on Fox, the one in one Cowboys
- 1:53:30Speaker 5: are at the zero to two.
- 1:53:32Speaker 4: Bears Dallas by one and a half, and I wouldn't
- 1:53:35Speaker 4: be surprised if it's dallash Wow, as Colin Coward might.
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: This one flipped for us.
- 1:53:41Speaker 6: Yeah, Chicago teams got it wrong.
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Chicago have another one wrong.
- 1:53:46Speaker 7: Ben Johnson saying that they don't practice with championship habits
- 1:53:49Speaker 7: just yet.
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: I think that continues another week. I'm gonna take Dallas
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: lay the point and a half.
- 1:53:54Speaker 6: I like Dallas too, so I don't really like anybody
- 1:53:58Speaker 6: in this game.
- 1:53:59Speaker 4: But I'm gonna take Chicago because I think the Cowboys
- 1:54:02Speaker 4: defense is wretchedly bad and I think Ben Johnson might
- 1:54:05Speaker 4: be able to take advantage of that. I'm gonna take
- 1:54:08Speaker 4: Chicago to get their first.
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: Win the Bears.
- 1:54:11Speaker 5: I'm taking the Bears to beat the Cowboys just because I.
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: Want them to.
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: I mean, I watch highlights of that Russell Wilson throwing
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: for four hundred and fifty yards against that defense, Like
- 1:54:21Speaker 4: that's bad.
- 1:54:23Speaker 5: Four on Fox, the two and oh Cardinals at the
- 1:54:26Speaker 5: two and oh forty nine Ers, Big Division matchup.
- 1:54:29Speaker 6: Yeah, San fran By two and a half.
- 1:54:32Speaker 7: Good, good game, Mac Jones rolling getting a lot of
- 1:54:35Speaker 7: love if he's playing.
- 1:54:36Speaker 6: Oh really, so you think they said Purdy has a
- 1:54:40Speaker 6: chance to play.
- 1:54:42Speaker 2: Those Matt Jones like poisoning his food right now?
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: Lordy.
- 1:54:46Speaker 4: I don't know if there's been an update today, but
- 1:54:48Speaker 4: the last I heard there was a chance.
- 1:54:50Speaker 6: Yeah, pretty good play.
- 1:54:51Speaker 7: I do like Arizona, and I feel like somebody owns
- 1:54:53Speaker 7: somebody in this one, Paul.
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: Maybe now I'm gonna go San Francisco at home.
- 1:54:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:54:59Speaker 4: I think you're right, because that's where the division of
- 1:55:01Speaker 4: ownership is the NFC West.
- 1:55:03Speaker 6: But I don't know what the answer.
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: Are always weird. What was this bet on the two
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: and a half Arizona?
- 1:55:07Speaker 2: Yeah, no and a half?
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: Come on, it flipped on my poor sheet. Your sheet
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: is never Arizona was.
- 1:55:16Speaker 6: Favored on the road.
- 1:55:20Speaker 9: A little print out for us?
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, but where do you get it?
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: So I Google it's print your brackets dot com.
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: Okay, did you go to DraftKings.
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: They don't have a principal break and printable. I've been
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: used this for years and I'm gonna print your brackets stock.
- 1:55:36Speaker 12: This is a coin flip one especially with Purty kind
- 1:55:39Speaker 12: of up in the air.
- 1:55:42Speaker 9: Uh, s Francisco.
- 1:55:45Speaker 12: I guess Paul looks bewildered right now.
- 1:55:48Speaker 4: I'm just looking some stuff up just to make sure
- 1:55:50Speaker 4: I didn't do things up. I am also going to
- 1:55:52Speaker 4: take the Niners. I think they're a better team. I
- 1:55:54Speaker 4: do think the Cardinals have improved. I think Gannon has
- 1:55:57Speaker 4: you know, got them going the right direction. But I'll
- 1:56:00Speaker 4: take the Niners.
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: I'm gonna take the forty nine ers as well.
- 1:56:04Speaker 5: Okay, Sunday Night, eight twenty on NBC in Universo.
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: Uh, the two Chiefs at the oh and two Giants.
- 1:56:14Speaker 6: Uh, the Chiefs by six. Great, great night game.
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that is a great game.
- 1:56:20Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:56:20Speaker 7: I'm gonna take Kansas City and I'm gonna lay the points.
- 1:56:23Speaker 7: I think they get started in New York.
- 1:56:26Speaker 9: Yeah, Kansas City.
- 1:56:27Speaker 12: I think this is a must win for morale for them.
- 1:56:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the Chiefs defense gets it done. I'll
- 1:56:36Speaker 4: take Kansas City.
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: Me too, but I'll be rooting hard for the Giants. Yeah.
- 1:56:41Speaker 2: So yeah, that's one of those games where you just
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: have to pick.
- 1:56:44Speaker 6: The Chiefs again. So much hate such.
- 1:56:47Speaker 5: Absolutely come on, now, that's that's what makes it fun.
- 1:56:51Speaker 2: Paul you have to have a reason to run against
- 1:56:54Speaker 2: the team.
- 1:56:55Speaker 6: Yeah, some might say it would be fun to root
- 1:56:58Speaker 6: for somebody to.
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: Root for the Patriots for lost roots.
- 1:57:03Speaker 2: Again, I root for the Patriots and I root against
- 1:57:05Speaker 2: everybody else.
- 1:57:07Speaker 5: Monday Night, eight fifteen ESPN, ABC, ESPN two, ESPN Deportes
- 1:57:13Speaker 5: the one and one Lions at the one and one Ravens.
- 1:57:16Speaker 4: Now this, now, this is that's a man.
- 1:57:22Speaker 6: Baltimore by four and a half. That's a good matchup.
- 1:57:25Speaker 7: Yeah, that is a good matchup. I look forward watching that.
- 1:57:28Speaker 7: I'm going to take Baltimore at home. I will lay
- 1:57:30Speaker 7: the point. Lamar gets it done.
- 1:57:34Speaker 9: I love Baltimore. I will take them to win.
- 1:57:36Speaker 12: However, I think Detroit ramped it up a little last week.
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: Give them the rampant.
- 1:57:45Speaker 4: I am going to go with deuce and I'm going
- 1:57:47Speaker 4: to say the Ravens at home win, maybe by two scores.
- 1:57:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm game to hedge my bet for the possible
- 1:57:57Speaker 5: Lions win, which I think could very well happen. I
- 1:58:01Speaker 5: will take the points, but the Ravens went at home,
- 1:58:05Speaker 5: all right.
- 1:58:05Speaker 2: Now we move back to one o'clock on CBS, the
- 1:58:09Speaker 2: one and one Steelers at the one and one.
- 1:58:13Speaker 6: Patriots Pittsburgh by one and a half.
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: Yeah, no question here, I'm going Patriots. I'll take that
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: point and a half. It's just you know history. I
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: think New One has got some momentum. I expect Pittsburgh
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: to be better. I don't think it's going to be
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: an easy game, but.
- 1:58:28Speaker 7: I think they'll get after Aaron Rodgers, They'll get enough pressure,
- 1:58:31Speaker 7: and I think they'll score enough points.
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Patriots twenty three to seventeen.
- 1:58:37Speaker 12: Home Dogs Patriots twenty seven, Steelers twenty one.
- 1:58:45Speaker 6: I also like the Patriots in this game.
- 1:58:46Speaker 4: Those injuries I don't think are a joke for Pittsburgh,
- 1:58:50Speaker 4: and I think that's been a big part of their
- 1:58:52Speaker 4: problem defensively, and that's their identity is defense. I don't
- 1:58:55Speaker 4: think they have a high powered offense, so I'm not
- 1:58:58Speaker 4: worried about them having to get into a shootout. Think
- 1:59:01Speaker 4: the Patriots win this one at home. Fred gets the
- 1:59:04Speaker 4: home win he's been looking for. Twenty three to twenty
- 1:59:06Speaker 4: New England.
- 1:59:06Speaker 5: Okay, Alex and I are in the same page in
- 1:59:09Speaker 5: terms of the Patriots points twenty seven.
- 1:59:12Speaker 2: I agree with.
- 1:59:13Speaker 6: That Pittsburgh is zero h No.
- 1:59:16Speaker 5: Pittsburgh manages seventeen, So twenty seven to seventeen, Patriots win
- 1:59:22Speaker 5: two on one baby with Carolina coming to town.
- 1:59:26Speaker 2: We're on a roll, all right, and we're out of time.
- 1:59:30Speaker 5: So thank you everybody for watching, listening.
