- 0:06Hello and welcome to another episode of What Do You Call It
- 0:11podcast. I am your host GB.
- 0:14It's been nearly a month without me, so I know a lot of people
- 0:17have missed me, but I am back better than ever working on my
- 0:21tan as it is the summer holidays, right?
- 0:25Cringe. I know, I know.
- 0:26But we're not here to talk about my tan.
- 0:28We are here to talk to today's guest.
- 0:32She's an author. She's the author of wrestlers
- 0:34most highly anticipated novel, The Abby Cartwright Chronicles.
- 0:38Please welcome Abby Cartwright to the show.
- 0:41How you doing, Abby? You're good.
- 0:42Hello, I'm well, thank you. I'm well.
- 0:44I'd actually love to talk about your tan because yesterday I was
- 0:47really proud of my tan and I showed someone and they looked
- 0:50at it and they were like, what tan?
- 0:53So I'm very much in the mood for complimenting people's tans at
- 0:55the moment. See it has gone away a little
- 0:58bit now because the recipe's caught up a little bit but my
- 1:00hand for about a month and 1/2 was tanned because I was
- 1:04refusing to wear like short sleeve shirts and stuff so and
- 1:07just got tan so most people noticed at work.
- 1:10So I was like, oh shit, nothing I can do now.
- 1:11But yeah, the rest of me caught up there, so that's good, yeah.
- 1:14Yeah, yeah, brilliant. Now you look glowing.
- 1:16Appreciate, appreciate it. Nah, God smoking now.
- 1:19Oh God, Abby. Abby.
- 1:22So I want to follow up for my intro for you.
- 1:24So I'm mentioning the highly anticipated novel, The Abby
- 1:27Cartwright Chronicles. I want to go to the beginning of
- 1:31this novel and I want to discover how you became a pro
- 1:34wrestling fan. Ah, so very good question.
- 1:37So it's very, you know, it's such a cliche answer.
- 1:41So I watched wrestling as a kid because I have an older brother.
- 1:44So that's how I kind of got into watching it when I was younger.
- 1:47And we'd always just kind of like play wrestle.
- 1:50And by play wrestle, I mean, he would always beat me up.
- 1:53So not much is really strange with my wrestling career, to be
- 1:55honest. So, yeah, we did that as a kid
- 1:58to go to watch, like, my parents would take us to go watch WWE
- 2:00and stuff. And, you know, when you're a
- 2:02kid, you wanted to like, people want to be like astronauts,
- 2:04Cowboys, princesses. I just really want to be a
- 2:06professional wrestler, so when I left school I just decided to go
- 2:11and do it before I regretted not doing it.
- 2:14Nice. And when you did leave school
- 2:16and you told people you were going to pursue this dream, what
- 2:18was their initial reaction? Oh, so you know what?
- 2:21So I didn't tell people for ages.
- 2:23I think the only people who knew were like my parents and like my
- 2:27brother. So I was just like, oh, and
- 2:29wrestling. So embarrassing.
- 2:30Imagine being an adult and liking that.
- 2:32So yeah, I just never really told any of like, my friends or
- 2:34anyone for ages. My parents were always quite
- 2:37supportive of it. But yeah, I just didn't tell my
- 2:40friends for a while. And now, like now I'm a lot more
- 2:42comfortable telling people that I'm a professional wrestler.
- 2:45But yeah, no, they always just, everyone responded really, like
- 2:47positively towards it. You would always get some people
- 2:50being like, making the comments about, oh, it's a fake though,
- 2:53isn't it? The classic stuff you'll never
- 2:55be able to avoid. But yeah, no, everyone's always
- 2:57been quite encouraging, thinking it's really cool, which is very
- 3:00nice. So I always feel really bad that
- 3:02I used to be really embarrassed about it.
- 3:04Nice. And now you're proud you're on
- 3:06posters now, how does that feel, by the way, when you're on these
- 3:09posters that are going around on the Internet or even local
- 3:12areas, stuff like in Essex and London, and you see yourself
- 3:15like that's really fucking cool. Or do you have a sort of
- 3:18response to it? So sometimes I think it's really
- 3:21cool. Other times when it's a really
- 3:22bad photo of me being used, I'm like, why?
- 3:26Yeah, especially at first, like, so I have like a little
- 3:28wrestling memory box where I have like, so I have posters
- 3:30from shows and stuff. And I think I've got posters
- 3:32from like, really my, like my early days, which is really
- 3:34cool. And even just like being
- 3:36advertised for some shows, Like EVE put up a post the other day,
- 3:40other day advertising their upcoming show, like listing all
- 3:43the wrestlers on it. There was like Billy Stark's
- 3:45Bose, not Bose. That was a surprise.
- 3:48Rain Levakuzin. And I was like Nina Samuels and
- 3:50Abby Cartwright, and I was like, holy shit, I'm being advertised
- 3:53for an EVE show. Yeah.
- 3:55So it's always just like, really cool when you're like, actually,
- 3:58yeah. I like, I'm a star.
- 4:00I'm great. Yeah.
- 4:03It is quite nice. Yeah.
- 4:05And you are an author, did you, you know, you're probably saying
- 4:09like he did all the moves to you and so he got you into the
- 4:11wrestling as well. Did he ever step foot in the
- 4:13ring or even try it? No, so he's never.
- 4:17So his whole kind of wrestling career has just been Batista
- 4:19bombing me onto our sofa. So we used to do like martial
- 4:24arts and stuff together when we were kids.
- 4:25So he was always getting more into martial arts.
- 4:27So he does like visually in jiu jitsu.
- 4:30I did like try and push him to come to like a wrestling
- 4:31training session to try it out sometime, but he's just never,
- 4:36never had the urge to do it. I don't think Sash.
- 4:38I also think that he's he would be a little bit embarrassed to
- 4:41try it and be bad at it. I get that I think.
- 4:45Yeah. So yeah, I just don't think he's
- 4:47tough enough for it. With your MMA background that
- 4:51you said that you both did there sort of that when you're
- 4:53younger, do you feel that sort of benefited you when you would
- 4:57go into wrestling training? Yeah, for sure at the start.
- 5:00So obviously wrestling is like very different for apart from
- 5:03Marshall, it's very different from any like sport you would do
- 5:05as a kid. Like people transition from like
- 5:07football or basketball into wrestling.
- 5:09It's completely different coming from like a martial arts
- 5:12background. So I did a bit of karate, but I
- 5:13mostly did jiu jitsu. So using that to go into
- 5:16wrestling was really helpful just because I was a lot better
- 5:18of all the roles, you know, all the bums, breakfalls.
- 5:22After that it was no help at all.
- 5:25But for but for that part, it was kind of nice and it felt a
- 5:27little bit more natural going into kind of this world that is
- 5:30very scary and different. And where did you train?
- 5:36Martial arts. No wrestling.
- 5:38Wrestling. So it's been I've been in for a
- 5:40few. When I first started, it was the
- 5:44Portsmouth Repro School of Wrestling and then one of the
- 5:48coaches there, Rishi Ghosh, opened his own school, Quality
- 5:50Wrestling. So I did it there and then I
- 5:53moved to London a couple of years ago where I started
- 5:56training at Play Fight. And that's kind of, I'll always
- 5:59say that's kind of like my main training home Play fight.
- 6:04Hello there, I've got a very special announcement for my next
- 6:07guest. Yo, what's going on, guys?
- 6:10It's the youngest in charge, the youngest X Division champion of
- 6:12all time now boy Leon Slater, and I'm going to be on the What
- 6:16do You Call It podcast, You get me?
- 6:19Your head. Yeah, I am.
- 6:27I have nothing bad to say about the coaching style for Play
- 6:30Fight Car and Noir, Nina Samuels, absolutely fantastic
- 6:33coaches. Yeah, both very, both very
- 6:36similar and very different in their coaching styles, which is
- 6:38really nice. Obviously, I'm sure everyone
- 6:41knows I'm a big fan of Nina Samuels, so I won't go, I won't
- 6:43go over about her now. But so for Car and Noir, so Nina
- 6:47Samuels was the reason I wanted to go to Play Fight because I
- 6:49wanted to learn from her. So I actually wasn't that fussed
- 6:52about, you know, Car and Noir or learning from him, but I'm
- 6:55actually just such a fan. He's such, he's just such a
- 6:58lovely coach, lovely guy. And it was always really funny.
- 7:02So when he went through his phase, when he broke his foot,
- 7:05there were sessions where he would start it just apologizing
- 7:08in advance. Just saying I've had a really
- 7:10bad day. If I'm short with any of you
- 7:12today, I apologize. Then he'll just go through the
- 7:14rest of the session being like the loveliest guy in the world.
- 7:18And he's always just so delightful to kind of be around,
- 7:21learn from, and he's just so good.
- 7:23He breaks everything down into such kind of granular details to
- 7:26help you understand it. He's very good at pushing you
- 7:29when you need to be pushed and also knowing when something's
- 7:32just not for you. So he's very good at kind of
- 7:35understanding people's coaching styles and learning styles as
- 7:38well, which is really nice. And the facilities are just
- 7:41great there. I would highly recommend
- 7:43Playify. It's just such a wonderful
- 7:44school with wonderful people. Nice.
- 7:46Nice, when did you make your in ring debut?
- 7:50The first ever match you had in front of a crowd.
- 7:53Oh oh so my. So if we're going all the way
- 7:55back to when I started doing trainee shows, this would have
- 7:58been in 2019, back pre COVID when I trained at Quality
- 8:04Wrestling. I think it was like that first
- 8:06ever student show. I had a singles match against
- 8:09Lila Kyle, who has not stopped following me around in my
- 8:13career. It was against her and I only
- 8:16had like 2 weeks notice so I'd only recently come back to
- 8:20wrestling maybe about two months a couple of months before this
- 8:24show and someone pulled out so he asked me to fill in and I was
- 8:28so nervous. I'm pretty sure I cried like
- 8:30every day for two weeks leading up to the match.
- 8:35But it was a lot of fun and I'm really glad I did it.
- 8:38Like your first one's always terrifying.
- 8:40She just never know what to expect.
- 8:42It was a lot of fun. I wrestled Lila Kyle.
- 8:46I was the bad guy. I also won, as you would expect
- 8:49from, you know, an Abby Cartwright, Lila Kyle match.
- 8:52And she was also going through a phase as well where she would
- 8:55come out of like party poppers. So at the end of the match after
- 8:58one I got one of her party poppers and party popped her in
- 9:00the face. Nice.
- 9:02Yeah, which is, it was very satisfying, actually.
- 9:06But yeah, so it was my first ever kind of like training match
- 9:08in front of a crowd, which was nice.
- 9:10It was a very nice, intimate venue and it was really scary,
- 9:13but everyone there just made it seem so nice and easy, which is
- 9:18what you'd want really. I.
- 9:19Guess nice, but you're at ease and you can look with a smile as
- 9:23well because you hear some horror stories.
- 9:24But it's good that you can look back.
- 9:26Have you, have you actually been able to watch it?
- 9:27Was it recorded that debut match?
- 9:30Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've watched it back.
- 9:31I am back at the back to, you know, around the time period
- 9:35when it happened. I watched it back.
- 9:37I am. I couldn't think of anything
- 9:38worse than watching it back now. I think it would make me
- 9:41physically I'll to watch myself back like from back then.
- 9:44I hate. Watching myself, that's probably
- 9:46a compliment though, because you've seen like how much you've
- 9:48grown like as a performer. Not saying the Queen could make
- 9:51me laugh at the same time be like oh shit, I did that move or
- 9:53whatever. But same time you say like OK I
- 9:56was there and look where I am now.
- 9:58Yeah, no, that's actually, that's a very positive way of
- 10:00actually thinking about it. Cuz I'm just thinking if I watch
- 10:03it, I'd give myself the ick. Yeah.
- 10:06But know that, yeah, from a growth perspective, it would be
- 10:08very good to like compare how far I've come from then till
- 10:10now. Yeah.
- 10:14No, I do, I do. Maybe I will watch it back one
- 10:16day. I'm sure I do have a copy of it
- 10:17somewhere. And the fact you were a bad guy,
- 10:20I do think you have done some of your best work as a bad guy.
- 10:23I have a lot of your batches on YouTube in preparation.
- 10:26I saw one match as a babyface. Fit your team up with Bow Bells.
- 10:31Oh, OK, yeah. That's good.
- 10:32Now, no one as a hill one as a hill just before just worked so
- 10:35well. But you've got to tell me about
- 10:37the Abbey Wright Chronicles, how you've incorporated this special
- 10:41book, this novel that is still being written as we speak.
- 10:45Yeah, the Abbey Cartwright Chronicles.
- 10:47Yes. The Abbey Cartwright Chronicles
- 10:48is just a story about my wrestling career based on kind
- 10:53of true events that happen in it.
- 10:55Yeah. Which is really fun.
- 10:56It's just one of those things where, like I, I love reading,
- 11:00which will be a surprise to no one.
- 11:01I love reading. I love books.
- 11:03I always have. And I love wrestling as well.
- 11:05So it's always really fun to be able to like combine the two of
- 11:07them. And it's just it got to the
- 11:10point where I was like, I've read so many books that are like
- 11:13books are good, books that are bad, some that are just so like
- 11:16mediocre. I'm like, what was the point of
- 11:18this book? I was like my rest, like
- 11:20wrestling's just such an interesting world and there's so
- 11:22much you can write about it. And I think especially where
- 11:25Abby, like, obviously I'm very small and I always started my
- 11:30career off as kind of the underdog.
- 11:33Even now, I'm still normally always the smallest person in
- 11:35the match. So it's very it's kind of just a
- 11:38fun story to tell from you know, I had this little so when Abby
- 11:43Cartwright started, she was a babyface.
- 11:45She was just this little kind of happy go lucky babyface who
- 11:48loved books to grow into kind of who I am now.
- 11:51And it's just been a fun journey.
- 11:52It's a lot of character development, a lot of fun other
- 11:55characters as well. It just makes for, it just makes
- 11:59for such a fun novel and a perfect read.
- 12:02There's just so much to write about in the world of wrestling,
- 12:04in the world of my career, that it just, it just made so much
- 12:07sense. I was like, why don't I just do
- 12:08both or I don't? I write a book about my career.
- 12:12Yeah. And it's going really well.
- 12:13Sometimes it doesn't go to plan, which is really annoying, and I
- 12:17hate when that happens. But yeah, otherwise it just,
- 12:21yeah, it's really fun and it's really delightful to be able to
- 12:23do both and to have kind of a pen and a book in the ring with
- 12:26me as well. It's just it's really fun to be
- 12:30able to use that as well, which I think is it's different to use
- 12:33in wrestling and it's nice as well.
- 12:35When I come out to the room without a book and a pen, I
- 12:37always feel really naked and uncomfortable.
- 12:40So I feel like they've become a part of me now, which is which
- 12:43is really cool to have. Just something else I love in
- 12:45there with wrestling too. You did tell me the book is not
- 12:49with you today. At the time of recording, I
- 12:51thought I was a little bit guided for this podcast with
- 12:55sort of squeeze its way into the the book.
- 12:59Oh. Oh, no, it definitely.
- 13:00It definitely still can get in there.
- 13:02I am, yeah. Unfortunately, I just don't.
- 13:03I'm away. I'm away from home today.
- 13:06And sometimes you just need a little bit of a break to get
- 13:08some clarity from the book and the story just to come back with
- 13:12some fresh eyes. So there's nothing book related
- 13:15happening this week, unfortunately.
- 13:17But I will remember this to it's my first ever podcast, so I will
- 13:20remember this to write about it. Of course.
- 13:22So you will make. It in Yeah, you will make it in
- 13:25Yeah, you will make it in. It might be just a line being.
- 13:28Oh, I spoke to George, full stop.
- 13:32We'll see. 20 minutes late and then later on had a cup of tea.
- 13:35Great. I mean there will be a cup of
- 13:38tea had after this for sure. Nice.
- 13:40They have coffee. I think you'll have I'll pound.
- 13:42It's more. The good thing about this
- 13:44gimmick that you have is this say the best gimmicks are
- 13:47yourself amped up by 100 and you get to sort of incorporate what
- 13:52you love. The fans were involved as well.
- 13:54Notice it always gets a good reaction when you come out in
- 13:56the entrance and while they're doing the introductions.
- 13:59You can use it as a weapon. There's so much fun.
- 14:01You can have it and it's working.
- 14:03It's a it's a good act, Thank. You thank you very much.
- 14:07And one thing I do want to mention about this book, because
- 14:11it's still being written at the moment, one wrestler who will
- 14:13appear quite frequently in the book, not shade.
- 14:16It's how is the feud that you've had with her for quite a while
- 14:20now. Yeah, so, so Nightshade's
- 14:22actually the person I have wrestled the most in my career.
- 14:26So really the feud of Nightshade so really spans my entire
- 14:31wrestling career. So all the way.
- 14:34So I date my had like my proper wrestling debut with SWF and
- 14:38Kapow. It would have been about 2021
- 14:42and my first match was supposed to be against Nightshade, so.
- 14:46And I was really nervous for that because obviously it was
- 14:48Nightshade. People would love to wrestle
- 14:51her. And I was like, me just this
- 14:52little trainee being like, oh, I get to wrestle Nightshade.
- 14:55I was shitting myself. But she was like, she was so
- 14:59lovely. Like she used to come down.
- 15:00She would come down to training to help train with me, help
- 15:03prepare me, help put me at ease for the match.
- 15:06And then unfortunately, she got injured and had to pull out.
- 15:08But that's her story to tell. But yeah, so I ended up
- 15:12wrestling someone else and I don't think I ended up wrestling
- 15:15her for maybe about 6-7 months after that.
- 15:19It just never really, it never really happened.
- 15:22And we've wrestled at other places as well.
- 15:24But the main kind of base for our feud and all our matches
- 15:28have been at SWF and Kapow. And again, like the Abbey
- 15:32Cartwright story, it all came from when I was a tiny little
- 15:35babyface, very new. And Nightshade was kind of the
- 15:38big bad villain at this time to we did kind of a full swap.
- 15:42So Nightshade went babyface. I turned hill.
- 15:45I started becoming a horrible person.
- 15:47I started using weapons. I started breaking all the
- 15:49rules. And it worked.
- 15:52I became champion. So it worked.
- 15:54I became the longest reigning SWF women's champion of the
- 15:56modern era. Yeah, Thank you.
- 16:03Yeah. So Nightshade and I just
- 16:04wrestled all throughout kind of these four years.
- 16:07We're just constantly. It was always her winning.
- 16:09Then I got to the point where I was always me winning and there
- 16:11was a lot of back and forth till eventually it all kind of came
- 16:15to an end in June. So it, well actually before we
- 16:20go out, we go back to September back at The Hobbit.
- 16:23So first and foremost I absolutely hate The Hobbit pub.
- 16:27Horrible plays, horrible crowd. I did see all your captions on
- 16:30your Instagram. Yeah, I hate it.
- 16:32And I never win that. I always lose.
- 16:35So I hate it so much. So I had a so I had a title
- 16:39defense against Nightshade that day and I ended up losing my
- 16:42championship to her then, which was very scatting.
- 16:46And then Kapow had an over 18 show that same day and
- 16:51Nightshade was wrestling Nina Samuels for my championship.
- 16:55So I cashed in my rematch clause that night lost, which was
- 16:59actually very sad because it was it was just kind of like it was
- 17:03pathetic fallacy in full force. It was dark.
- 17:06It was pouring down with rain. I lost my championship.
- 17:09This will. Be left out of the chronicles I
- 17:11assume. No, this is an important, like
- 17:13it's the key plot point in the story.
- 17:15As much as I didn't want any of this to happen, it was just very
- 17:19important. So yeah, I was pouring down with
- 17:21rain. I cashed in.
- 17:23In hindsight, it was a really stupid time to cash in.
- 17:27So yeah, I cashed in a Nightshade and my coach
- 17:29thinking, yeah, I'm going to win this, but it was all just very
- 17:34emotionally charged and I lost within a minute.
- 17:38So it was not, it was not a good day to be Abby Cartwright that
- 17:41day. So Nightshade won my belt and
- 17:45then she buggered off to Japan and we didn't see her again for
- 17:49must have been like 8 months or so before she came back to
- 17:51Kapow. So she took my belt and took it
- 17:53hostage, which was really annoying.
- 17:58And then she came back. I and I got under her skin
- 18:01enough. Because I do think The Hobbit
- 18:04match was unfair. They shouldn't have made me put
- 18:06my championship on the line in the venue where I always lose.
- 18:10It's very cursed. The odds were sacked against me
- 18:14and it just wasn't very fair and I didn't like, it was very
- 18:16unkind. Literally, right.
- 18:18So yeah, I got under Nightshade skin enough that she she let me
- 18:22pick the stipulation for our next match, which was in June at
- 18:27Southampton. So and obviously I wasn't just
- 18:30going to pick a normal match. I had all the power this time.
- 18:33So I was going to stack all the odds against her.
- 18:36So I created my own match type for it, which was very fun.
- 18:41And it's a match that I will always say is probably my
- 18:43favorite match that I've ever had.
- 18:47So it was very much kind of, I'd say 3 stages of hell match meets
- 18:51the Duchess of Queensbury rules match.
- 18:53So Nightshade didn't know the match until she was out there.
- 18:57They were split into three acts, each with its own time limit and
- 19:00each with its own stipulation and set of rules.
- 19:03So Act 1, and I also narrated the match as well at the start
- 19:07of each, at the start of each act, there'd be a video of me
- 19:10that came on the titantron explaining like what the next
- 19:14act was going to be. That's quite cool.
- 19:16Yeah, it was really fun. But so act one, was it just the
- 19:19singles match? And when that was announced,
- 19:21there was a guy in the crowd who audibly booed it.
- 19:26He booed when it was announced. At the first, it was a singles
- 19:29match. I think you just want to see
- 19:30carnage. And I was like, I'm so sorry to
- 19:32disappoint you, but I've got a story to tell here.
- 19:35So we had a singles match, then Acts 2.
- 19:38So this was where it really went into my favorite.
- 19:40So because I knew what all the acts were going to be in
- 19:42Nightshade didn't at the ACT changes, Nightshade had to watch
- 19:45the screen to figure out what was happening next.
- 19:48And the next act was a street fight.
- 19:50So while she was watching the screen figure out what was going
- 19:52to happen, I snuck out of the ring, grabbed the kendo stick,
- 19:55came in, and as soon it started, just started attacking over
- 19:58kendo stick. Very smart.
- 20:03And that was Act 2. There are a few rule changes in
- 20:06it as well. So during Act 2, I changed the
- 20:09rules so Nightshade wasn't allowed to use any weapons.
- 20:12Yeah, had a little rewrite. Started the ACT again.
- 20:15And then we went into Act 3, which was a submissions match,
- 20:19so they were all very carefully. All the acts were kind of picked
- 20:24to partly kind of tell the story of the feud Nightshade and I'd
- 20:28had over 4 years. So it singles match, she would
- 20:31overpower me at the start, as it was at the start of that story
- 20:35Street fight, Abby Cartwright turned the evil turned to
- 20:38weapons and she was on top and then would go into submissions
- 20:41match. So I chose a submissions match
- 20:45specifically because Nightshade, I don't think she has ever won a
- 20:49match with submission. I have won lots of matches of
- 20:52submission. So I was like, that very clearly
- 20:54favors me. Clever.
- 20:56Yeah. And I did not know she was
- 20:58actually a very big user of the Walls of Jericho.
- 21:01I found that out the hard way. My back has not been the same
- 21:04since. And she actually, yeah, she
- 21:07really put up a fight in the submissions match.
- 21:09I did not think she was going to be as good as submissions
- 21:13wrestling than she was. And I was very, I was very
- 21:15surprised at that. But yeah, eventually I won.
- 21:19So. But she towards the end of the
- 21:23match, she'd put me in Wars of Jericho.
- 21:26I was about to tap because I'm always one step ahead.
- 21:29I had a video ready to play on the titantron which distracted
- 21:33her enough and it also told the store and I also was Abby Khan I
- 21:37Cartwright narrating how off you'd started.
- 21:41So it mentioned about her pulling out of our first ever
- 21:43match, how gushed I was, and she pulled out because she broke her
- 21:47ankle. And just me reminding her that I
- 21:50have never once forgotten about her ankle.
- 21:53And it's like throughout the match I slowly started to target
- 21:57the ankle and while she was distracted watching that video,
- 22:03I hit her with the book. She got me in a sleeper.
- 22:07I stabbed her in the eye with a pen.
- 22:09I opened my book to reveal that it had been hollowed out, pulled
- 22:12out some rope, tied her up to the turnbuckle, and I concerted
- 22:16her ankle as she rightfully deserved.
- 22:19And then she ended up tapping out and I won my championship
- 22:24back. Glory Tone.
- 22:27And justice was restored and the division was back to the way it
- 22:30should be. But yeah, that was always one of
- 22:33my favorite matches and it was one of those ones that I am.
- 22:36I really enjoyed doing the three act structure match and I would
- 22:39love to do it again, but it's now.
- 22:42Fine, it's your thing. That's the thing.
- 22:43Yeah, difficult, but that could be your match, you know, I'll
- 22:47take on the casket match and, you know, Jeff Hardy ladder
- 22:50match and stuff. Heavy Cartwright, the three
- 22:52stages. Why not?
- 22:53Hell, but you know. Yeah, the React structure match,
- 22:56yeah, that's what I would like. It's.
- 22:57It's one of those matches where there needs to be a reason to
- 23:00use it. Yeah, Oh yeah, every weekend.
- 23:04Yeah, I mean, I would love that every weekend, as hard as it
- 23:06was. But yeah.
- 23:08And just, it worked so perfectly with Nightshare because we had
- 23:11just had this feud that was born so organically over kind of the
- 23:15four years over my entire career at Kapow.
- 23:17There was just she was the perfect opponent to do that
- 23:20match with and it was just a lot of fun.
- 23:23It really tested me as a wrestler and it was just it was
- 23:27great to just try something new and actually put into and
- 23:31actually be able to use the Abbey Cartwright Chronicles in a
- 23:33way that maybe not everyone will understand, but the people who
- 23:36have been following will see what is what is happening, which
- 23:41is just it was just really nice and really fun and just
- 23:43something I think it was a bit different, especially for the
- 23:46Kapow crowd. I love it.
- 23:48I love it told a great story. Obviously you got the win, it
- 23:53ended your way, but then there's also revenge.
- 23:56And it's one of the stories. I just don't think it's not
- 23:59going to end. And it just, yeah, who who knows
- 24:03what is going to happen next. That's the thing.
- 24:05Hello there. I've got a special announcement
- 24:06for my next guest. What's good people?
- 24:10You already know it's Swift Sonic, Jaden Williams, and I'll
- 24:14be the next guest on the What do you call the podcast?
- 24:18Because there's only one Swift Sonic and you looking at him.
- 24:30How does the Abby Cartwright Chronicles end?
- 24:34Very good question. So the Abby Cartwright
- 24:37Chronicles will end when my wrestling career ends.
- 24:40So who knows how it's going to end?
- 24:43It's all very it's very up in the air.
- 24:45I have an idea of how I wanted it to end, but we know stories
- 24:48don't always go to plan, so we'll have to.
- 24:50We'll have to wait and see. I still feel like we're just
- 24:53only at the beginning. Yeah, I, I, I definitely agree.
- 24:57There's so much, there's so much story to tell, so much
- 25:00potential, so many different characters to have involved, so
- 25:03many different places to go. And I feel like it's really,
- 25:07really, really starting to kick off now, which is very exciting.
- 25:13Never 1015 years. I believe it'll be on the front
- 25:16of Waterstones. Some Americans might not know
- 25:19what the hell I'm on about right now.
- 25:22Sure, I'll have to Google after this.
- 25:24If Waterstones is in America, it's a bookshop basically.
- 25:28Maybe David Smith? Few other book shops.
- 25:30Yeah, Barnes and Noble, all your local indie book shops as well,
- 25:35all your wrestling schools on every March stand.
- 25:37Would you narrate it or would you get like a celebrity to do
- 25:40it? The narration for the audiobook.
- 25:42Oh. If I didn't audiobook well so I
- 25:45actually this would be surprising considering how much
- 25:48I talk. I actually hate the sound of my
- 25:50own voice, yeah. So I don't know if I would want
- 25:54to narrate it, but also maybe maybe it's my story, so maybe I
- 25:59should narrate it. I.
- 26:01Think it's only right for you to do it, to be fair, but you know,
- 26:03maybe Morgan Freeman, but it's definitely at work.
- 26:07I mean, I'd love him to do my my narration, my eulogy.
- 26:09Oh, really? That's weird.
- 26:10Obviously not anytime soon. But you know, if I'm going, if
- 26:14I'm going out early, like I'm getting him to do it, James or
- 26:17Jones ain't here anymore. So you.
- 26:20Know important yeah it's foreign stream big yeah.
- 26:23I. See it.
- 26:24I see the vision. What a bit dark.
- 26:26Now let's put a positive spin on this.
- 26:30Few questions have come in for Abby Cartwright.
- 26:32As I asked the fans submit the questions on my Instagram.
- 26:35The conductor Freddie Hussain, good friend of the show, great
- 26:38guest. He wants to know Cardiff Martin
- 26:41is if you have no sorry if you know any cool train books.
- 26:46Yeah, so there's this really niche 1, you might not have
- 26:49heard of it, but it's called Thomas the Tank Engine.
- 26:53We'd highly recommend if you're looking for training books.
- 26:56I think they've adapted it into ATV series as well.
- 26:59So different, different platforms for you to enjoy that
- 27:02story. There.
- 27:02There you go. Thank you.
- 27:05There you go. Anthony 48 Davis has asked who
- 27:09is your dream opponent on the indie scene?
- 27:12Oh, very, very good question. So there's a couple.
- 27:15First and foremost, the one I would always say is Session with
- 27:18Martina. There is nobody that I would
- 27:21love to hit in the face more with my book than session with.
- 27:25And I mean that as a compliment. I just think we would have such
- 27:29a fun kind of prop heavy shenanigan, heavy character
- 27:32heavy match. And it would just, I feel like
- 27:35we would just gel so well out there.
- 27:37I've got a chapter in my book waiting for her just for the
- 27:40day. Someone please books it.
- 27:43So yeah, she's number one, but there's also others, you know,
- 27:45Charlie Evans. I would love to work.
- 27:48Yeah, she's cold. She's a good guest.
- 27:50Yeah, she's signed as well, so I don't know if it counts, but she
- 27:53was at Eve the other day, so I think it should.
- 27:55But Billy Starks would absolutely love to work her as
- 27:57well. There's a few more, but
- 28:00Sessimoth's number one as A tag team, I would love it if me and
- 28:05my tag partner Alexander Lockhart, if we did Team
- 28:07Heartright versus Hyperactive. I think that would be a lot of
- 28:10fun. I'd love to do that as well.
- 28:13But yeah, Sessimoth is #1 if my wrestling career ends without
- 28:16ever having wrestled Sessimoth, I would be incredibly upset.
- 28:20That's the ending that we do want.
- 28:22Then that's in my team though that.
- 28:24Can be the final chapter. I I can I honestly think that
- 28:28can happen very soon, very soon. Not that I'm I've got the it's
- 28:33the worst match. I can definitely on your story.
- 28:36Come in soon. Get tickets now and it'll be a
- 28:38fun match to watch in crowd or and he also wants to know
- 28:43Anthony Foyette Davis. He's asked, was Bo Zilla the
- 28:47scariest wrestler you faced? I think the question should be,
- 28:52am I the scariest wrestle Bo Zilla's faced?
- 28:57Yeah, Not going to lie, it's kind of terrifying.
- 29:00Yeah. When when I had the interaction
- 29:02with her Eve the other day, I was screaming for Nina to come
- 29:05help me. Nina did not come help me.
- 29:09Billy Starks actually came and saved me.
- 29:11Yeah, she got Bozilla out of my way, which is very nice.
- 29:14But yeah, Bozilla, there's just something really terrifying
- 29:16about her. Her size, her aura, like her
- 29:20entrance with the smoke. She is, yeah, terrifying.
- 29:24I don't feel I'd get a vote of her as a fan.
- 29:26I'm just happy like I'm. Yeah, I think that's a smart
- 29:30thing to be. I think the best thing to do is
- 29:31just stay out of her way completely.
- 29:34Yeah, that's definitely a terrifying one.
- 29:36But yeah, I know she's probably, definitely, probably up there
- 29:38with the scariest people I've come come across in wrestling
- 29:42for sure. Awesome.
- 29:43Great question people. Thank you very much.
- 29:46One last question, normally ask 3 June dinner guests but I'm
- 29:49going to keep it book related. OK.
- 29:54Not on me. So I asked that question.
- 29:55To wrap up the show, I'm going to ask you to pick three books
- 29:59that you think would make good weapons against your opponents.
- 30:06Some questions I've never asked before.
- 30:08That's what makes this podcast great.
- 30:09But this is a fun episode. Go for it #1 give me the first
- 30:12book. So what was it?
- 30:15War and Peace is the biggest book.
- 30:17It's the longest book, isn't it? Very sure that's the biggest
- 30:23book. Yeah, I would, but it has to be
- 30:25a hard back cover. Hard back cover of War and
- 30:27Peace. That will that would definitely
- 30:29give someone a good concussion if you hit them with the head
- 30:31with it. Nice.
- 30:33And who would your opponent be for it?
- 30:36Maybe that's the one I say for session with.
- 30:38There we go. Maybe unless, unless someone
- 30:41really gets on my nerves before then.
- 30:43But yeah, if that's so much I'm going out on, we're going to go
- 30:46out on the high. So that one, what else is there?
- 30:51Oh, complete work of Shakespeare.
- 30:54I think that will. If you can get that in one book
- 30:56that would be That would be a mighty hit as well.
- 31:00In the final one, any Harry Potter books you're going to
- 31:03squeeze in there? Oh, I could find some Harry
- 31:06Potter ones. They yeah, some of them big as
- 31:09well. Was it the Order of the Phoenix?
- 31:11That's really chunky. Chunky one I.
- 31:13Think these pages. The one like, you know, don't
- 31:15count at night 7? Was it night 6?
- 31:18It's worth a lot of the money. I'm just like, go sell it, go
- 31:19sell it. But yeah, I think that would
- 31:24also, I think the paper and the Harry Point ones will be good to
- 31:26some paper cuts as well. So yeah, I can see that.
- 31:31I can see that. I'm sorry you didn't ask me the
- 31:33three dinner guest one. I was preparing for that one.
- 31:36Go on then, go on then as you prep for it.
- 31:38We're going to a night. Then one more question.
- 31:41This is the final question. It's the final thing when I ask,
- 31:44oh, how can the fans find you on such media?
- 31:45But do you dream dinner guests for your dream party?
- 31:49Give me the three gifts as to why you want them there.
- 31:51Let's go #1 boom. Number one, so number one's
- 31:54Chapel Rd. Just love her #2 no, it's just a
- 32:02standard one. Also, Nina and Samuels is a
- 32:04really obvious answer for this so I'm just going to completely
- 32:06exclude her from this because it's just too obvious #2 will be
- 32:11either Liv Morgan or Bailey and I can't decide which one so they
- 32:15might have to share a seat. I'll let you have them both.
- 32:17I'll let you have them both. I can have an extra guest,
- 32:20perfect. And then #3 going down more the
- 32:24author's route, I would love to have one with Alice Ozman as
- 32:27well. But in this dinner party,
- 32:30because I'm the host of it, I've also wanted to pick like the
- 32:33like the team as well. And I really want the chef to be
- 32:36car in a while just because I have this image of him in the
- 32:40kitchen. You know, that's the stereotype
- 32:41of chefs being like, really angry.
- 32:42Yeah. I just have this image of him
- 32:45like an all white like white face paint on in the kitchen
- 32:48like cooking the food, just raging snarling at everyone.
- 32:52Yeah. Like, yeah, like, no, no, no
- 32:55swear words, just complete silence.
- 32:57Just all rage on his face. Like you'd send food back and
- 33:00he'll just snarl at you. It's not throwing plates.
- 33:03I just, I know there'll be no carbs at this dinner, but I
- 33:05just, I think it would just be such a funny image.
- 33:08If anyone can do Clara Noir as a chef, like as an image, maybe a
- 33:12thumbnail, like just hit me up, that'd be great.
- 33:16I'm in there. If you can, that'd be much
- 33:18appreciated. But now, great selections with
- 33:22the books and the guests are nowhere just at the beginning of
- 33:25your novel, the Abbey Cartwright Chronicles.
- 33:29I'm looking forward to seeing what else you had in there and
- 33:33then in a couple more years we'll see how it finishes.
- 33:37But still 8 days for you. Where can the listeners find you
- 33:40on social media? Cool.
- 33:42So I've got my Facebook account, Abby Cartwright, or you can find
- 33:47me on Instagram at Abby Cartwright under score PW and
- 33:51that's Abby spell ABI the way it should be spelt.
- 33:54But yeah, that are the only two places I have accounts for to
- 33:58come find me there. Wicked, wicked.
- 34:00Give her a follow on our social media.
- 34:02In case you missed it, I'll put it in the description below,
- 34:04along with my social media handles.
- 34:05They'll be there as well. Like this video?
- 34:08Subscribe to the channel. But for now, I've won.
- 34:10Have a great weekend and read a fucking book.
- 34:15Take care. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and
- 34:27girls, children of all ages, it's time for What Do You Call
- 34:33It podcast.
