- 1:37Speaker 2: so many activities going on the area, which we're gonna
- 1:39Speaker 2: run all those down for you. Looks like, yeah, maybe
- 1:41Speaker 2: a slight chance of rain in the morning after that,
- 1:42Speaker 2: looking pretty good. Temperatures in the seventies pretty looking pretty
- 1:46Speaker 2: good for Mother's Day as well. You can follow Metro

- 2:09Speaker 2: candidate for Board of Education and Putnam County is here.
- 2:11Speaker 2: And standing by is Angie Gillenwater from the Gannaal Charleston
- 2:15Speaker 2: Humaine Association. With this week's dot Me please pat of
- 2:17Speaker 2: the week brought to you by Almost Heaven Interiors. We'll
- 2:20Speaker 2: get to that momentarily, but first I want to bring
- 2:22Speaker 2: into the show Gnawh County Prosecuting Attorney Debora Rusnick. Good morning,
- 2:26Speaker 2: dev and welcome to the show.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Good morning, thanks for having me.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I want to get right to the announcement you made yesterday,
- 2:32Speaker 2: a multi county indictment for the ambulance operator who is
- 2:37Speaker 2: alledged to instruck John Lucas last month, leading to his death.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Alissa Middleton is her name, charge with voluntary manslaughter, aggravated
- 2:43Speaker 2: vehicular homicide, and cleaned the scene of an accident. All
- 2:46Speaker 2: charges are felonies. Explain this process, how you got there
- 2:52Speaker 2: and how the grand jury got to those indictments.
- 2:56Speaker 4: You know, we are presented with a particular case, an
- 3:01Speaker 4: exorbitant amount of evidence. We filter through the evidence, we
- 3:06Speaker 4: try to determine and this is with any case. I'm
- 3:09Speaker 4: speaking generally. I'm not speaking specifically about this case. But
- 3:13Speaker 4: we you know, we go through the evidence, we see
- 3:17Speaker 4: what charges within the criminal code the facts of the
- 3:21Speaker 4: case apply to which ones can I make fit And
- 3:26Speaker 4: so as we go through that process, we come up
- 3:29Speaker 4: with a list of charges that could potentially be be
- 3:34Speaker 4: be charged. And so that's what we did in this case,
- 3:38Speaker 4: just like every other, we present the evidence to the
- 3:42Speaker 4: grand jury, and in this instance, they reviewed all of
- 3:45Speaker 4: that evidence and came back with three felony counts that
- 3:48Speaker 4: they chose to charge her with.
- 3:51Speaker 2: And there is an arrayment at ten this morning, right,
- 3:55Speaker 2: that is correct one of the things. And this is
- 3:59Speaker 2: what you said that this was like all of the cases,
- 4:02Speaker 2: and you have to try to treat it as such.
- 4:04Speaker 2: And I completely understand, but I mean, you know, with
- 4:06Speaker 2: all the this case has really really just overtaken Kanawh County.
- 4:11Speaker 2: You know, from the time it happened last month, you know,
- 4:13Speaker 2: in the factor, in the social media aspect, there's so
- 4:15Speaker 2: many people out there wondering why it took so long
- 4:19Speaker 2: explain that process and why it did quote unquote take
- 4:22Speaker 2: so long.
- 4:24Speaker 4: You know, when we have a death investigation, and this
- 4:27Speaker 4: this case particularly was slightly different simply because of the again,
- 4:34Speaker 4: the magnitude the amount of evidence that the You know,
- 4:40Speaker 4: we are still waiting on certain pieces of evidence that
- 4:44Speaker 4: we have not been able to obtain yet.
- 4:47Speaker 5: Will we get that, yes, sure we will, but all of.
- 4:50Speaker 4: These things take time for us to collect. And once
- 4:55Speaker 4: an event such as this has occurred, duty is to
- 5:01Speaker 4: make sure that I have looked at all of that
- 5:03Speaker 4: because I owe a duty not just to the victim
- 5:07Speaker 4: and the victims family, but the law imposes on me
- 5:12Speaker 4: a duty to ensure that I am protecting the rights
- 5:16Speaker 4: of the accused as well, and so I have to
- 5:19Speaker 4: do that. I am I'm required by law to make
- 5:23Speaker 4: sure that I am going through every piece of evidence
- 5:26Speaker 4: and making sure not only that we're doing it, but
- 5:28Speaker 4: that we're doing it right now. We're getting it right.
- 5:33Speaker 2: For those of us that don't know about the process,
- 5:37Speaker 2: the decision to take it straight to the grand jury
- 5:40Speaker 2: instead of a more traditional way, can you explain that, Yes, So.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Once an event has occurred, and I am advising law
- 5:49Speaker 4: enforcement on health proceeeds. And this is with any circumstance.
- 5:53Speaker 4: We look at a variety of factors when we're determining
- 5:58Speaker 4: whether it is a prob to make an arrest or
- 6:01Speaker 4: whether it's more appropriate to present it to a grand jury.
- 6:05Speaker 4: In this instance, we felt it more appropriate to present
- 6:09Speaker 4: it to a grand jury. The public clearly wanted to
- 6:12Speaker 4: be heard, and you know that is the most proper
- 6:16Speaker 4: way to do that in this case.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Are you allowed at this point or can you speak
- 6:20Speaker 2: about the passenger that was in the ambulance about charges
- 6:24Speaker 2: being brought there or is that something.
- 6:28Speaker 6: Go ahead?
- 6:29Speaker 2: I'm sorry, that's okay.
- 6:30Speaker 4: That's okay. I think there's a slight delay. I can
- 6:33Speaker 4: tell you that in terms of the passenger, as of
- 6:38Speaker 4: right now, it does not appear that there will be charges.
- 6:41Speaker 4: I do not have any indication of criminal conduct at
- 6:44Speaker 4: this time.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Right and you're going to be on the talk line
- 6:48Speaker 2: with the Wilson Meadows at ten forty five. We're going
- 6:50Speaker 2: to continue coverage of the announcement yesterday of the endaments
- 6:54Speaker 2: from the grand jury. We'll have that on midday later today.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Canna County Prosecuting Prosecutor Deb Brusick. I appreciate you being here.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Thanks a lot, thanks for having me, Dave Absolutely let's
- 7:03Speaker 2: bring in our adopt me please pet of the week.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Our good friend Angie Gillan Want from Gonnaal Charlestey, Maine
- 7:08Speaker 2: Associated Association is here. Angie, Good morning, welcome to the.
- 7:12Speaker 6: Show, Good morning, happy to be here.
- 7:14Speaker 2: I do want to remind you that our pet of
- 7:16Speaker 2: the week has brought to about almost heaving and tearious
- 7:18Speaker 2: is South Charleston. Let's get right to our animal picture
- 7:21Speaker 2: posted Dave alland Radio and Facebook, also the WCCHS network
- 7:25Speaker 2: Facebook page and at Dave a seventy on X tell
- 7:28Speaker 2: us about Luciale.
- 7:30Speaker 5: So Lucille was. She originally came to KHA as like
- 7:34Speaker 5: a two month old puppy. She was adopted and her
- 7:38Speaker 5: adopter fell on some hard circumstances to where she could
- 7:43Speaker 5: no longer keep Lucille and trust me, it was her
- 7:46Speaker 5: last option to give her back to us. But because
- 7:49Speaker 5: she was adopted and surrendered, we know a lot about
- 7:51Speaker 5: how she is and a home. She does great with kids.
- 7:55Speaker 5: Her previous adopter said that she loves to play with
- 7:57Speaker 5: other dogs, and her previous adopter all said that she
- 8:01Speaker 5: is scared of cats. So if you have cats, you
- 8:05Speaker 5: know she can live with them. She's just the type
- 8:07Speaker 5: to like run away from cats.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Well, I know a lot of people that run away
- 8:10Speaker 2: from cats, and sometimes I wish I would have run
- 8:12Speaker 2: away from cats, to be honest. To be honest with you,
- 8:15Speaker 2: that just cracked me up when you sent me that
- 8:16Speaker 2: last night, Angie, that you said the dog is. But
- 8:19Speaker 2: it's nice to hear that that she can at least
- 8:21Speaker 2: live with them, because I think of the ords to
- 8:23Speaker 2: me were that she was scared of them, but she
- 8:25Speaker 2: could be in a home with them. She just kind
- 8:28Speaker 2: of prefers to be away from them. Is that why
- 8:29Speaker 2: she kind of like kind of like me with kids,
- 8:33Speaker 2: you know, with them, I just want them over there
- 8:35Speaker 2: somewhere I'm not around here.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I would agree with that. Yes, I think like
- 8:40Speaker 5: the combative type of cats where they're gonna swat at
- 8:43Speaker 5: dogs that come to your room, that is what she's
- 8:45Speaker 5: absolutely terrified of. But if your cat is a chow
- 8:49Speaker 5: cat that's not going to come out and sat her
- 8:51Speaker 5: anything like that, then she she should be fine.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Talking with Angie Gillan wanted from the Gage Charleston remain
- 8:56Speaker 2: association with lu Seal This Week's about me. Please put
- 8:59Speaker 2: her the week in the again. You can take a picture.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Take a look at Lucill's picture, Dave Allen Radio or
- 9:04Speaker 2: the WHS network Facebook page or at Dave a seventy
- 9:07Speaker 2: on X. You guys out and about anywhere this weekend.
- 9:10Speaker 5: We are not this weekend, but next week. We will
- 9:13Speaker 5: be next Tuesday before I'll get to talk to you
- 9:16Speaker 5: everyone again. On Friday, we will be at the downtown
- 9:20Speaker 5: location of the Kenall County Public Library in Charleston with
- 9:23Speaker 5: a Crazy Cat People party, which is really fun from
- 9:26Speaker 5: two to five.
- 9:28Speaker 2: What is the Crazy Cat People Party, Angie, I gotta.
- 9:30Speaker 5: Know, it's exactly what it sounds like. I'm going to
- 9:33Speaker 5: be there with lots of cash.
- 9:34Speaker 6: All right in the library in the library.
- 9:37Speaker 5: It's always really fun when we are there. This is
- 9:39Speaker 5: not the first time we've been down there. So if
- 9:42Speaker 5: you have nothing to do between two to five, stop
- 9:44Speaker 5: buy and see all of our kiddies that we have.
- 9:47Speaker 2: And we had a text somebody send so many activities
- 9:50Speaker 2: happening just tomorrow. Alone'd be great if there were some
- 9:52Speaker 2: designated areas at each event, since you guys can't be
- 9:55Speaker 2: there to drop off donation items for the shelter and
- 9:58Speaker 2: for the fix some clinic food, litter, milk, placements, toys, traits,
- 10:01Speaker 2: cleaning spoes, blankets and towels and so on and so forth,
- 10:04Speaker 2: so maybe we can work on that for the future.
- 10:06Speaker 2: How are the numbers looking at the shelter right now?
- 10:10Speaker 5: Yesterday? I haven't checked this morning, but yesterday we were
- 10:14Speaker 5: right at like four hundred and forty. It seems that
- 10:18Speaker 5: kittens and cats are just you know, coming in waves,
- 10:21Speaker 5: which is pretty typical for this time of the year,
- 10:23Speaker 5: But around four hundred and forty animals right.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Now, all right?
- 10:28Speaker 2: And what are you in need of?
- 10:30Speaker 5: Biggest needs right now are going to be wet food
- 10:32Speaker 5: of any brand for either dog, cat, kitten or puppy.
- 10:36Speaker 5: And dishwashing liquid any brand will do for that.
- 10:39Speaker 2: As well, all right. Angie gillenwater Knaw Charsty main association
- 10:43Speaker 2: with this week's adopt Me please pet of the Week.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Appreciate you being here and we'll talk again next week
- 10:47Speaker 2: and try to check you out Tuesday at the library.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Thanks a lot, absolutely, thank you, all right. Lou Seal
- 10:53Speaker 2: is our pet of the week. She was adopted but
- 10:57Speaker 2: was returned through no fault of her own, and is
- 10:59Speaker 2: a and she said the previous owner did not want
- 11:01Speaker 2: to give Lucille up, but unfortunately had to. Lucille appears
- 11:06Speaker 2: to be great with other playful dogs and with kids,
- 11:10Speaker 2: little skittish around cats. Could probably live in a home
- 11:14Speaker 2: with cats, but maybe an idea and better idea not
- 11:19Speaker 2: to have the cats, but she can probably hang with them.
- 11:23Speaker 2: She is spade and vaccinated and her adoption fee is
- 11:26Speaker 2: waived as part of the Bistle Pet Foundation. Folks, so
- 11:28Speaker 2: good on them. Go check out the picture of Lucille

- 14:49Speaker 2: about these structural issues, mainly wages within the emergency services
- 14:53Speaker 2: where a nineteen year old is given the responsibility to
- 14:56Speaker 2: be a paramedic and drive an ambulance. I remember when
- 14:59Speaker 2: I was nineteen. I had no business being responsible for
- 15:01Speaker 2: someone's life or driving an emergency vehicle. And I think
- 15:04Speaker 2: no nineteen year old has that mental and emotional emotional capacity.
- 15:09Speaker 2: That is according to a texter, so much going on
- 15:12Speaker 2: this weekend? Can I add something to that? I mean,
- 15:16Speaker 2: I don't know. That's Steve Bishop.
- 15:17Speaker 3: By the way, Oh hi, everybody is this show on TV?
- 15:21Speaker 2: No?
- 15:22Speaker 3: I see cameras in now they don't know. I might
- 15:24Speaker 3: as well say hi to.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Jennyway, Jenny Murray over, how you doing?
- 15:28Speaker 3: All right? Hey, listen, I don't know what that that
- 15:31Speaker 3: whole text was about. They're saying, nineteen year old's too
- 15:35Speaker 3: young to be.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Well, this is going back to the John lucas Ale situation,
- 15:39Speaker 2: and we had two younger people. There seems to be
- 15:42Speaker 2: a disparage, a little bit of question about the age.
- 15:46Speaker 3: All right, maybe I shouldn't go okay, because that's the
- 15:48Speaker 3: sensitive issue. And I was just going to tell you
- 15:50Speaker 3: what in North Carolina happens. You know, they used to
- 15:53Speaker 3: let this is this is a funny story, and that's
- 15:56Speaker 3: not a funny story what you were talking about. But
- 15:58Speaker 3: in North Carolina used to be able to drive a
- 16:01Speaker 3: school bus as a high school student. Really, yes, when
- 16:06Speaker 3: I always.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Did that in Logan, But that's when somebody stole the bus.
- 16:08Speaker 3: When I was in high school. And by the way,
- 16:11Speaker 3: this is fifty years I'm out. Graduated in nineteen seventy six,
- 16:16Speaker 3: I was going to be a school bus driver. So
- 16:18Speaker 3: I took the training, came home and told my father.
- 16:20Speaker 3: I said, Hey, I'm going to drive a school bus.
- 16:22Speaker 3: And he goes, no, you're not, And I said why not?
- 16:24Speaker 3: And he goes, because that's too young. He said, that's
- 16:27Speaker 3: too much responsibility. I think the problem They don't do
- 16:31Speaker 3: that now they've changed. Yeah, but in the Yeah, in
- 16:34Speaker 3: my day, high school students were these school bus drivers.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Isn't that kind of scary?
- 16:39Speaker 2: I you know, I will say this about and there's
- 16:42Speaker 2: a lot of questions about this case, and we'll kind
- 16:44Speaker 2: of bring this background. Then we'll talk about the yard sale.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Is there are every emergency service crew across this country.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Any department will tell you that they are desperate for people.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Right now, oh absolute, people aren't going into this anymore.
- 16:58Speaker 2: And I don't don't blame them. It's not the kind
- 17:01Speaker 2: of job that I could do. You really got to
- 17:03Speaker 2: have that and do it passion for it, and I agree,
- 17:07Speaker 2: and all this will come out in the case that
- 17:09Speaker 2: two were younger people, and I hate to sound ages,
- 17:11Speaker 2: but two younger people probably shouldn't have been in that situation. However,
- 17:17Speaker 2: some of these and I'm not speaking specifically about these cases,
- 17:19Speaker 2: sometimes these departments have to do what they have to do.
- 17:21Speaker 2: They don't have people, and we just don't have a
- 17:24Speaker 2: lot of people that want to work. That's number one.
- 17:26Speaker 2: And number two. I mean, I had a very good
- 17:29Speaker 2: friend of mine, former co worker, work part time, first
- 17:31Speaker 2: at the radio station and logan who went on to
- 17:34Speaker 2: become an EMT, and after having his nose broken I
- 17:36Speaker 2: think for the third time, he said, this ain't for me,
- 17:40Speaker 2: and he went into teaching it because he has been
- 17:43Speaker 2: injured broken ribs broke from you know.
- 17:47Speaker 3: That has a story or two or five.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Yeah, anyways, so all right, so.
- 17:51Speaker 3: I should have asked, what is this in reference to?
- 17:56Speaker 2: Before you know, you got another show, and you probably
- 18:00Speaker 2: been you know, you haven't been listening to the first
- 18:01Speaker 2: part of the show because cutting because you know that
- 18:04Speaker 2: that other show.
- 18:04Speaker 3: That we were doing the show, I don't know if
- 18:06Speaker 3: we were we doing a show this morning, we were
- 18:08Speaker 3: doing something.
- 18:09Speaker 12: It kind of resembled a show.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Was that one on the air. That's what I say
- 18:13Speaker 2: about this show. I say, I tell Ryan, this one
- 18:15Speaker 2: was good enough to put on the air. We should
- 18:16Speaker 2: have put this show on the air, you know. But anyway,
- 18:19Speaker 2: all these phone with the domes going on, I'll talk
- 18:21Speaker 2: about that a little bit later on. Later on. You
- 18:23Speaker 2: got the East End yard Sale and Stephen Jenny's B
- 18:26Speaker 2: one hundred the biggest, the best, the biggest and the best.
- 18:29Speaker 3: I know that East End yard sale is pretty huge and.
- 18:32Speaker 13: Most people are going, Yeah, but you got to travel
- 18:34Speaker 13: for the East End yard sale.
- 18:35Speaker 12: You just go to one place for ours.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Listen to her and it's all this selling.
- 18:39Speaker 12: And that place is Laidley Field Parking Lot, right.
- 18:42Speaker 2: And it's sold out to vendors. Now, yes, I mean
- 18:44Speaker 2: so if you wanted to be a vendor, you waited
- 18:46Speaker 2: too late, because you can't be a vendor.
- 18:48Speaker 3: But you can still come right Oh, absolutely, yes.
- 18:51Speaker 12: We want everyone to come and buy our quality merchandise.
- 18:56Speaker 3: It's eight till noon. And we all know people that
- 18:59Speaker 3: go to yard sales. If you go to yard sales,
- 19:01Speaker 3: that you really ignore the times of when they start
- 19:04Speaker 3: when they end, because people will be there helping, trying
- 19:07Speaker 3: to help these people that are selling set up their
- 19:09Speaker 3: stuff and offering a dime for something they want a
- 19:12Speaker 3: dollar for. That'll be happening, and then it want to
- 19:15Speaker 3: you know, at noon it ends, but at one o'clock
- 19:18Speaker 3: I'll be going like, y'all need to go home at
- 19:20Speaker 3: some point, like.
- 19:21Speaker 2: You ain't got to go home, but you got to
- 19:22Speaker 2: get out of here, you know, right, And if you
- 19:24Speaker 2: want to dicker on prices, go take it to parking.
- 19:27Speaker 3: I don't know why to be rude, but you know
- 19:28Speaker 3: I really got to. I got to go to foone
- 19:30Speaker 3: with the dome at some point.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Yeah, for that then and rib Fest, you know, tomorrow night.
- 19:36Speaker 2: So what do vendors need to know? I mean, I
- 19:37Speaker 2: know it's sold up, but what do they need to know?
- 19:39Speaker 2: If maybe they're a first time vendor, what did they
- 19:41Speaker 2: need to know?
- 19:41Speaker 3: Read everything? And I send them to this instructions. I
- 19:45Speaker 3: find that to be sometimes not happening, okay, but no,
- 19:48Speaker 3: it's it's it's pretty much cut and dry. You know,
- 19:53Speaker 3: we started eight, we set up starting at six fifteen.
- 19:55Speaker 3: I probably wouldn't have said that. Now people go like,
- 19:57Speaker 3: I'm not waiting till eight o'clock I'm going to six fifteen.
- 20:00Speaker 3: But we just get started early, get set up, and
- 20:04Speaker 3: that's the biggest chaos of the day is the setup procedure.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Once that's over with, it's all right.
- 20:10Speaker 2: So I remember you telling me when I had you
- 20:12Speaker 2: guys on last year about this that.
- 20:14Speaker 3: I can't believe we made it back again there.
- 20:16Speaker 2: But but there seems to be an issue sometimes. So
- 20:18Speaker 2: if people and I know you set them all the information,
- 20:20Speaker 2: all right, but explain the setup if they're a vendor.
- 20:23Speaker 3: If they're a vendor, well they set up on the
- 20:26Speaker 3: in their parking space, which you know we.
- 20:28Speaker 12: Will assign them, sign them as they get.
- 20:30Speaker 3: There and uh, and then they go for whatever. They
- 20:33Speaker 3: sell whatever, as long as it's not illegal. I don't
- 20:36Speaker 3: want anything like that or dangerous as in life threatening stuff.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Then they can sell pretty much anything.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Jenny sells the illegal stuff.
- 20:45Speaker 12: Two quality here.
- 20:47Speaker 3: See he always has something interesting.
- 20:48Speaker 13: I have an Electroluxe vacuum cleaner. It's an older model,
- 20:51Speaker 13: but it works like a charm.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Get that without the home demonstration, folks, come on.
- 20:56Speaker 13: And that includes extra bags for your quality dirt at
- 20:59Speaker 13: your own home.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Okay.
- 21:00Speaker 12: I also have an electric ice cream maker. I'm going
- 21:03Speaker 12: to be selling.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Okay, So didn't you have that last year?
- 21:06Speaker 4: No?
- 21:06Speaker 11: I did not.
- 21:07Speaker 2: What did you have last year?
- 21:08Speaker 13: There's one item that I refused to sell for nothing,
- 21:11Speaker 13: and that was my daughter's mountain bike, and I'm grateful
- 21:13Speaker 13: she took it home with her the last time.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Now that you had something else last year that somebody
- 21:17Speaker 3: just had the turkey fry, Yeah, that was it.
- 21:19Speaker 2: It was the turkey friar in the box never used turkey,
- 21:23Speaker 2: not included turkey.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Not Did you lose your mind and buy that? And
- 21:26Speaker 3: then yes I did later, I don't think.
- 21:28Speaker 12: I'm sure that's never happened to anyone else before.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Probably going to set the deck on fire when we
- 21:33Speaker 3: try to burn. I'm trying to go to the turkey.
- 21:35Speaker 2: You'll have a heck of a story for the rest
- 21:37Speaker 2: of you. You will have a story, that's for sure. Uh,
- 21:39Speaker 2: don't want that text for you, Steve. Any idea what
- 21:42Speaker 2: chick fil a will sell? Just breakfast for launch or
- 21:44Speaker 2: treats too?
- 21:45Speaker 3: They told me, Uh, this is but Chick fil a
- 21:47Speaker 3: is going to be our food vendor tomorrow. The usual
- 21:50Speaker 3: crew cannot be there and that's just a local group
- 21:52Speaker 3: of people that do it for a charity, but they
- 21:55Speaker 3: can't do it tomorrow. So I got Chick fil A.
- 21:58Speaker 3: They told me they don't do breakfast, so I don't.
- 22:01Speaker 3: I don't know other than Chick fil A chicken sandwiches,
- 22:04Speaker 3: I told I suggested, this is just me. I'm not
- 22:07Speaker 3: a Chick fil A expert, but I said, you know,
- 22:09Speaker 3: those chicken minies are pretty addictive, and it seems like
- 22:11Speaker 3: if you can do the chicken sandwiches, you could do
- 22:13Speaker 3: the chicken minies. I don't know. Uh, we'll find come
- 22:18Speaker 3: over and be surprised tomorrow, like we will.
- 22:20Speaker 2: What is the wildest story all the years of the
- 22:23Speaker 2: Stephen Jenny V one hundred? Is there one wild?
- 22:26Speaker 3: Well, there's one. I'm sure there's many, but the first
- 22:29Speaker 3: one that comes to mind. I was talking to her
- 22:31Speaker 3: about it again this morning. One morning we showed up
- 22:34Speaker 3: back when the yard sale, our V one hundred sale
- 22:37Speaker 3: was over in Kanawa City at the Teamsters Union parking lot.
- 22:40Speaker 3: We got there to set up and are lots about
- 22:43Speaker 3: half that lot's about half well, I think it's about
- 22:45Speaker 3: a third the size of the one we use now.
- 22:48Speaker 3: And there were somebody, some truck driver pulled an eighteen
- 22:51Speaker 3: wheeler onto the parking lot and parked was taking up
- 22:54Speaker 3: like we had basically four lanes of parking places. He
- 22:58Speaker 3: was taking up a four of the parking lot, which
- 23:01Speaker 3: wasn't big enough to start with.
- 23:02Speaker 12: We had no idea who he was.
- 23:03Speaker 3: He just park it, got out and left and went somewhere.
- 23:07Speaker 3: And at some point when we're setting up, he comes
- 23:10Speaker 3: back and gets out of a car. I don't know
- 23:12Speaker 3: whether he went out for breakfast. I don't know whether
- 23:14Speaker 3: he went to rest. We just rotation marks for a while.
- 23:19Speaker 2: He went out for something, just went out for something.
- 23:23Speaker 3: He took a break for something, came back, didn't say
- 23:26Speaker 3: a word, got in his tractor trailer, started up and left. Yeah,
- 23:31Speaker 3: and we were like, oh, thank goodness for that. Have
- 23:33Speaker 3: there ever been any fights, no, or arguments over not
- 23:37Speaker 3: that I'm aware of.
- 23:38Speaker 9: No.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Come on, by the way, there will be Charleston police
- 23:42Speaker 3: protection at the event. Maybe I should say it like this,
- 23:46Speaker 3: Charleston police presence at the V one hundred yard sale tomorrow.
- 23:50Speaker 13: Ladyfield, you will find treasure, I guarantee you. And I
- 23:54Speaker 13: am not a baseball fan, but we used to have
- 23:56Speaker 13: someone that worked here who's moved to Cincinnati. Huge sense
- 23:59Speaker 13: of reds fan, and I knew this, and I'm out
- 24:02Speaker 13: perusing the sale and I find this awesome piece of
- 24:07Speaker 13: memorabilia of Cincinnati Reds players and I think Pete Rohase
- 24:10Speaker 13: was included in it.
- 24:11Speaker 6: Wow.
- 24:12Speaker 13: And I'm like, I'm going to buy that for him,
- 24:14Speaker 13: and I'm going to mail it to him. And he
- 24:17Speaker 13: said when he got that package in the mail and
- 24:20Speaker 13: opened it and I'd written him a little note, he cried.
- 24:23Speaker 12: He actually cried.
- 24:24Speaker 13: He's like, this is my most treasured item in my
- 24:27Speaker 13: entire Reds collection.
- 24:29Speaker 6: Wow.
- 24:29Speaker 3: So you want to hear my Coro Peete Roase story.
- 24:32Speaker 12: Sure, Well, not that I've not heard it a million times.
- 24:35Speaker 12: Go ahead, tell us.
- 24:35Speaker 3: What you might not know it. I mean, I was
- 24:38Speaker 3: telling Dave about Marty brenhaman and that's the reason I'm
- 24:40Speaker 3: in the broadcasting business because Marty Breneman used to broadcast
- 24:44Speaker 3: American Legion baseball in my hometown in North Carolina, and I,
- 24:48Speaker 3: as a young person, was just captivated by his descriptions
- 24:53Speaker 3: and all. And then Marty went on to the big
- 24:55Speaker 3: time and I'm here, I am in the big time.
- 24:58Speaker 3: And I'm not being I'm not being sir castic. It's
- 25:01Speaker 3: it's been great to do that. And Marty's one of
- 25:03Speaker 3: the big reasons why I met Pete Rose one time
- 25:06Speaker 3: at the dealership that was there, Tag Gallion or Team Chevrolet.
- 25:10Speaker 3: I think it was Team Chevrolet by by that time,
- 25:13Speaker 3: over where the Clay Center is now, So Pete was there.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Pete did some stuff for that or that dealership. He's
- 25:19Speaker 3: there signing autographs and it's at the end of his
- 25:21Speaker 3: little whatever appearance, I guess, and I go in and
- 25:25Speaker 3: I say, hey, Pete, you know, and I had a
- 25:27Speaker 3: baseball and he signed it and all that sort of stuff,
- 25:29Speaker 3: And Pete and I were having a great discussion on
- 25:31Speaker 3: baseball until this hot chick.
- 25:34Speaker 12: Comes in and then your discussion was I was.
- 25:38Speaker 3: I did not even exist. It's like we're talking baseball,
- 25:42Speaker 3: and then suddenly she comes through the door and it's like.
- 25:45Speaker 12: I'm done with you.
- 25:46Speaker 3: You're done with you. No, he didn't even he just what.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Was she driving the car in the truck driver story
- 25:53Speaker 2: from earlier? Okay, just now, that's not the same person
- 25:57Speaker 2: to paxt. Jenny had the cast iron set last year too.
- 26:02Speaker 2: It was beautiful. Did they ever sell Oh yeah, oh.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:06Speaker 12: That was the price.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Wasn't that a Dutch oven or something.
- 26:09Speaker 12: It was a collector Dutch oven and it's old boy.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Your listeners, how do they know this stuff about us?
- 26:15Speaker 12: They come to the same they come to the sound.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Oh okay, and you're like me. You know, you've been
- 26:19Speaker 2: doing this forever, you know, except you've been doing it
- 26:22Speaker 2: a little longer, just a little bit longer.
- 26:24Speaker 3: But you know, this is actually fifty years, fifty years
- 26:27Speaker 3: for me doing this, and so in this room we
- 26:30Speaker 3: have fifty years for me. How many for you?
- 26:33Speaker 2: Thirty eight?
- 26:34Speaker 3: Okay, and how many for you.
- 26:35Speaker 12: Jenny pushing forty?
- 26:37Speaker 2: All right, Well, if any of the three of us
- 26:39Speaker 2: could do math, that'd be a hell of a number.
- 26:41Speaker 7: It's a lot.
- 26:43Speaker 12: I'll have some fiesta wear tomorrow.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Oh, don't tell my wife is it cobalt blue?
- 26:47Speaker 13: Because that's why I only have one cobalt blue And
- 26:50Speaker 13: it's a bowl if you want.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Jenny makes fun of me because I have one color
- 26:54Speaker 3: of fiesta ware, where everybody else usually has like lofty colors.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Oh, I will say that and we'll wrap it up.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Say this when my first when when the first time
- 27:04Speaker 2: my wife ever brought fiesta wear into the house, the
- 27:07Speaker 2: first thing I said, was it doesn't match, and she
- 27:09Speaker 2: said it's not supposed to match. And I'm like, and
- 27:12Speaker 2: I was like, look at it going, it doesn't freaking match. Yeah,
- 27:17Speaker 2: And now I'm okay with that. And anytime that we're
- 27:20Speaker 2: on seventy nine, you know, going to Morgantown or whatever stop,
- 27:24Speaker 2: it will will usually. And last time I was in there,
- 27:26Speaker 2: ran into my old buddy Fred Albert from the American
- 27:29Speaker 2: formerly of American Federation of Teachers. He was in there too.
- 27:32Speaker 2: It's a stop, man, give us the details on the
- 27:36Speaker 2: time and whatnot. Tomorrow eight till noon. Laidley Field Parking
- 27:41Speaker 2: Lot in Charleston. That's at the corner of Elizabeth and
- 27:44Speaker 2: Piedmont Road if you're not familiar, but I would think
- 27:46Speaker 2: everybody knows where that is, most everybody.
- 27:49Speaker 3: And we'll be there. The only I mean, if it rains.
- 27:51Speaker 3: And I don't even want to talk about.
- 27:52Speaker 2: This, So there's a Brian Hughes says, there's a very
- 27:55Speaker 2: very svery slight.
- 27:56Speaker 3: I have to mention that then we we won't have it. However,
- 27:59Speaker 3: the East End, your art sale is rain or shine.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you're not gonna have to worry about rain. I
- 28:03Speaker 2: don't think tomorrow.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Dave I hope you're right.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Steve and Jenny appreciate you both being here.
- 28:07Speaker 12: Thank you, Thank you.
- 28:08Speaker 3: David, I appreciate that.
- 28:09Speaker 8: Well.
- 28:09Speaker 2: You're welcome Steven. And Jennifer is she's a Jennifer Jello.

- 31:01Speaker 2: Tell us about you. Give us your bio.
- 31:03Speaker 17: Well, I'm a tense generation West Virginian and I believe
- 31:06Speaker 17: that's truly shaped who I am as a person, and
- 31:10Speaker 17: I am someone who's deeply dedicated to community. I've been
- 31:14Speaker 17: shaped by my faith and many life experiences I probably
- 31:17Speaker 17: should not have survived, and because of that, I feel
- 31:22Speaker 17: as though my purpose is in serving my community, which
- 31:25Speaker 17: doesn't necessarily mean politics. I've been doing community service for
- 31:29Speaker 17: years and I ultimately feel as though I need to
- 31:34Speaker 17: work to be someone I needed in those times that
- 31:37Speaker 17: I may have not nearly survived. And so it's with
- 31:40Speaker 17: that that I approach this campaign. But it's also the
- 31:44Speaker 17: reason that I approach community service the way that I do.
- 31:49Speaker 17: And I'm someone who believes in radical kindness but also
- 31:51Speaker 17: flipping tables when necessary. So that's roughly on the base
- 31:56Speaker 17: level who I am, roles that I have in my life.
- 31:58Speaker 17: I've been married to my house has been Ryan for
- 32:00Speaker 17: in early twenty one years, and he's a teacher Hurrican
- 32:02Speaker 17: High School and he's the assistant baseball coach. We have
- 32:04Speaker 17: two children. Our daughter Brook is eighteen, she's graduating this year.
- 32:07Speaker 17: In our son looks thirteen. I am the director of
- 32:11Speaker 17: institutional research at an institution in Logan, and I have
- 32:15Speaker 17: worked in education for seventeen plus years.
- 32:19Speaker 2: I am a policy wonk and a policy wonk.
- 32:22Speaker 12: Yeah, so I am very much.
- 32:25Speaker 17: I specialize in education policy, okay, and so I am
- 32:30Speaker 17: fascinated with policy and the ramifications and the effects of policy.
- 32:35Speaker 17: I'm also fixated on what I consider to be bad policy.
- 32:39Speaker 17: And I am a strategist. I'm a trained strategic planner
- 32:43Speaker 17: for education.
- 32:44Speaker 2: But with all those things, why a run for Bard
- 32:47Speaker 2: of Education? Because I mean, I think you're to be
- 32:49Speaker 2: commended for all those things that you've done and continue
- 32:52Speaker 2: to do, but you could do a lot of those
- 32:53Speaker 2: things without being on the Board of Education. Why the
- 32:56Speaker 2: run for the Board of Education.
- 32:57Speaker 17: Well, I'm currently finishing my PhD through Pretty Universe and
- 33:00Speaker 17: I'm hoping to graduate in December. And it has been
- 33:03Speaker 17: during that time of completing my PhD that I feel
- 33:06Speaker 17: as though working in education and being someone who is
- 33:09Speaker 17: transformed by education, when I see things that I think
- 33:14Speaker 17: either need to be addressed or things that I think
- 33:17Speaker 17: could be improved, I don't like to complain without offering
- 33:21Speaker 17: a solution. It just so happened that I offered myself
- 33:23Speaker 17: as a solution in this situation.
- 33:25Speaker 12: I've lived in Putnam County.
- 33:27Speaker 17: I graduated from Windfield High School in two thousand and three,
- 33:29Speaker 17: and since that time, I have seen what I feel
- 33:32Speaker 17: are not great policy decisions or policy implementation. And in
- 33:37Speaker 17: addition to that, with the last ten years of a
- 33:41Speaker 17: considerable population decline and we've lost sixteen percent of our
- 33:45Speaker 17: student body population, the Board of Education has not engaged
- 33:49Speaker 17: in any strategic planning that would help to address those things.
- 33:54Speaker 17: And it is with my level of experience and I
- 33:58Speaker 17: hate to use the word expertise but amount of study
- 34:01Speaker 17: in particular areas that I don't necessarily look at anyone
- 34:05Speaker 17: and think, oh, I'm better than this person, for example,
- 34:08Speaker 17: But I do think that if I have the skills,
- 34:10Speaker 17: because I am so dedicated to community service, that it
- 34:14Speaker 17: is my civic duty to then step up and provide
- 34:18Speaker 17: myself as an option for my community to choose me
- 34:22Speaker 17: if that's what they want to do.
- 34:23Speaker 2: I'm trying to Sarah Brown again, who is a candidate
- 34:25Speaker 2: for Board of Education at Putndham County. But Dave Allen
- 34:27Speaker 2: Show and five eighty Live is brought to you in
- 34:28Speaker 2: part by Husband's Pizza. This month get a large at
- 34:31Speaker 2: and inch pepperoni pizza and the order of setiment bites
- 34:33Speaker 2: only twenty ninety nine. Find your nearest local hustans for
- 34:36Speaker 2: not in delivery or pickup at Huston's Pizza dot com.
- 34:40Speaker 2: It's Putnam County and I've lived there for twelve years now.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Putnam County is an interesting place because it is it's
- 34:46Speaker 2: deemed to have in many people's I've been on what
- 34:48Speaker 2: study you read the best some of the best, some
- 34:52Speaker 2: of the best schools in West Virginia de man, he
- 34:54Speaker 2: would say some, and you know, and you know the
- 34:56Speaker 2: best whatever, And but there are still issues within any
- 35:01Speaker 2: school system, absolutely say, and you've addressed them. What's some
- 35:04Speaker 2: of those? And you talked a little bit about addressing
- 35:07Speaker 2: the fact that they're losing population as far as within
- 35:11Speaker 2: the student body goes, What specifically do you hope to
- 35:15Speaker 2: do if you are elected as the board of education
- 35:16Speaker 2: to be able to fix that.
- 35:18Speaker 17: So, considering my research background, I think it would be
- 35:21Speaker 17: important for us to survey our community to see why
- 35:24Speaker 17: people have left the school system so that we can
- 35:27Speaker 17: focus on what we could address. I think we should
- 35:31Speaker 17: also be doing a needs assessment for the county to
- 35:33Speaker 17: see what, you know, what is outside of our purview.
- 35:38Speaker 17: I don't think that it is a good idea to
- 35:42Speaker 17: assume that being you know, a board member or being
- 35:45Speaker 17: on a board means that you have the best perspective
- 35:48Speaker 17: of how to address problems. I think those are community
- 35:51Speaker 17: elected positions. They're non partisan positions. The reason that they're
- 35:54Speaker 17: non partisan positions is because party politics should not be
- 35:57Speaker 17: influencing your decision in that role, because you should be
- 36:00Speaker 17: hearing your community and making decisions based on what that
- 36:03Speaker 17: community needs. And to me, it is in seeing what
- 36:08Speaker 17: I feel is a lack of connectivity to our community.
- 36:11Speaker 17: A lack of access is what I keep hearing from
- 36:13Speaker 17: constituents over and over again. They can't get a hold
- 36:15Speaker 17: of their board members. They don't feel as if they're
- 36:17Speaker 17: being heard. I hope to address from the jump that need.
- 36:23Speaker 17: I already have people messaging me. I'm not even elected
- 36:26Speaker 17: to this position. But I think being in education, I
- 36:30Speaker 17: have had the ability to survey the land, so to speak,
- 36:34Speaker 17: and collect resources. And I should not be sitting here
- 36:38Speaker 17: in front of you today. I should not be getting
- 36:39Speaker 17: a pH d. I am probably one of the most
- 36:45Speaker 17: educated as far as going to college individuals in my
- 36:48Speaker 17: entire family. I was one of the first women in
- 36:49Speaker 17: my family to get a college degree, and it's from
- 36:54Speaker 17: stumbling my way through education that I've been able to
- 36:57Speaker 17: collect resources. I can't in good conscience do that without
- 37:00Speaker 17: sharing it with people who need it, but I'm not
- 37:02Speaker 17: always in contact with those people. Being in this role
- 37:06Speaker 17: would allow me to connect those people to resources so
- 37:09Speaker 17: that they feel heard. But then it would also put
- 37:12Speaker 17: me in the position to then listen to them so
- 37:14Speaker 17: that I could then address some of the issues that
- 37:17Speaker 17: are going on. Some of it is communication issues, right.
- 37:21Speaker 17: People see one issue, but then you know people on
- 37:23Speaker 17: the board or people in the school system may see
- 37:25Speaker 17: it as another and there's not a lot of mediation
- 37:28Speaker 17: as far as that's concerned at times. And so from
- 37:32Speaker 17: the jump, it would be transparency and being available to
- 37:36Speaker 17: my constituents as one board member. It's like, what could
- 37:40Speaker 17: one person do? One person could do a lot of things,
- 37:43Speaker 17: but right now my community feels like they need to
- 37:45Speaker 17: be heard and that's the one thing that I could
- 37:47Speaker 17: be actionable and regardless of my connectivity to the rest
- 37:51Speaker 17: of the war members.
- 37:52Speaker 2: So I'm Sarah Brown again, who's the candidate for Board
- 37:53Speaker 2: of Education Putdam County. But Dave Allen Show on five
- 37:56Speaker 2: eighty Live brought you in part by the Charleston Dirty
- 37:58Speaker 2: Birds Birds on the Road that they are back though
- 38:00Speaker 2: at go Martin Ballpark Tuesday night. Get your tickets now,
- 38:02Speaker 2: dirty words baseball dot com. How's the campaign been for you.
- 38:06Speaker 12: It's been a lot of fun.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Which had you ever run for office before? No?
- 38:10Speaker 1: No.
- 38:12Speaker 17: My senior year in high school, I helped my best
- 38:13Speaker 17: friend's mom campaign to get on the board of education,
- 38:16Speaker 17: and so that was a cool experience, even back then.
- 38:18Speaker 17: So I'm an independent and I have been since I
- 38:20Speaker 17: could vote, And I even remember back then she seemed
- 38:24Speaker 17: to be more liberal than me, but I knew she
- 38:28Speaker 17: had my best interest at heart, so her personal politics
- 38:30Speaker 17: to me didn't really matter because I knew at the
- 38:32Speaker 17: end of the day she was really going to be
- 38:34Speaker 17: focusing on my education. And it's using that as an
- 38:38Speaker 17: example that I approach this role myself, and I have
- 38:42Speaker 17: really loved campaigning. It's been great to talk to my community,
- 38:48Speaker 17: interact with my community. They've shown up for me. I
- 38:51Speaker 17: have done fundraising and my entire campaign has been paid
- 38:55Speaker 17: for by my community.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Running for office and I've never run for office, but
- 39:00Speaker 2: I have been part of campaigns prior to this job.
- 39:04Speaker 2: It's a totally different experience and you don't know what
- 39:06Speaker 2: it is until you've actually done it. And you've got
- 39:09Speaker 2: out there, and there's so much that goes into it
- 39:11Speaker 2: other than just the campaign. I mean there's so many things. Again. Absolutely,
- 39:16Speaker 2: do you have a website or social media people?
- 39:19Speaker 17: I do, so you can find me at Sarah Brown
- 39:22Speaker 17: for Board of Education on Facebook and you can find
- 39:25Speaker 17: me Brown for Board of Ed I think on TikTok
- 39:29Speaker 17: and my website is Sarah brownwv dot com.
- 39:32Speaker 2: All right, I do this with every candidate. I call
- 39:34Speaker 2: it the final thirty not timed. Why should someone vote
- 39:39Speaker 2: for you for Putnam County Board of Education?
- 39:41Speaker 17: You should vote vote for me for Putnam County Board
- 39:43Speaker 17: of Education first and foremost. I believe I'm the most
- 39:45Speaker 17: qualified candidate when approaching this role. I am someone who
- 39:49Speaker 17: not only has the education and experience to implement things
- 39:54Speaker 17: that I think could really help our county, like strategic
- 39:57Speaker 17: planning or policy revision and development, but I am also
- 40:01Speaker 17: someone who's deeply dedicated to their community and deeply dedicated
- 40:05Speaker 17: to listening to my community. I'm someone who is not
- 40:10Speaker 17: only interested, but available and willing to work with people
- 40:12Speaker 17: who think like me, don't think like me. It does
- 40:15Speaker 17: not matter. It is the only way that we are
- 40:17Speaker 17: going to improve our environment for our students and to
- 40:20Speaker 17: see success. And I believe that people should vote for
- 40:24Speaker 17: me because I am a candidate who is willing to
- 40:27Speaker 17: provoke change while also being an avid community member and
- 40:32Speaker 17: someone who is maintaining that connectivity all the way through.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Appreciate you being here. Best luck in your campaign. Sarah
- 40:38Speaker 2: Brown again is a candid for Putnam County Board of Education.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Good luck, Thank you all right. It is nine forty

- 43:50Speaker 2: guys have been very, very busy getting ready. I have
- 43:54Speaker 2: learned in event planning over the years and I've never
- 43:57Speaker 2: let me just say for the record, I've never planned
- 43:59Speaker 2: something as big as Fune with. I've been part of
- 44:00Speaker 2: other things a lot of times. Once it starts, it's
- 44:04Speaker 2: like you go, oh, yeah, it's here. It's all the
- 44:07Speaker 2: stuff leading up to the stuff, yees the problem. So
- 44:10Speaker 2: that's not the problem, but the most difficulty.
- 44:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:12Speaker 19: Well, first I'll say I thought you were going to
- 44:14Speaker 19: introduce us as the house band, and I was getting excited.
- 44:16Speaker 12: I was like, oh, they got to.
- 44:19Speaker 2: My guys and Aim of Steel and they're fantastic. Yeah
- 44:22Speaker 2: they're fantastic. Uh No, yeah, No, it's great. We're yes.
- 44:26Speaker 6: Of course.
- 44:26Speaker 19: Today is we're doing last you know, all the last
- 44:27Speaker 19: minute stuff you gotta do the day before an event,
- 44:29Speaker 19: going down to the boulevardist that stuff up. But everything
- 44:31Speaker 19: is smooth. We're excited. I mean, you know, tickets are
- 44:34Speaker 19: selling well. We still have tickets available foam CWV dot com,
- 44:38Speaker 19: So please go get your tickets today. We always so
- 44:40Speaker 19: many people wait till the day before because they're checking
- 44:42Speaker 19: for weather. The good news is it looks like the
- 44:44Speaker 19: weather is going to be just fine tomorrow. As matter
- 44:46Speaker 19: of fact, maybe a perfect day for this event. Yeah,
- 44:49Speaker 19: partly sunny in seventy six or something.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Brian Hughes tells me. It's going to start off a
- 44:53Speaker 2: little cloudy, maybe a couple of sprinkles in the morning,
- 44:56Speaker 2: but we're talking sprinkles, we're not talking about if even
- 44:58Speaker 2: that's only about a twenty percent chance. And then after
- 45:00Speaker 2: that the clouds are going to move away. It's going
- 45:02Speaker 2: to be like low to mid seventies tomorrow, perfect perfect.
- 45:05Speaker 19: Perfect, yes, yes, from Mother's Day weekend all around, and
- 45:08Speaker 19: don't you know the East End yard sale is in
- 45:11Speaker 19: the morning from eight to two that our friends at
- 45:13Speaker 19: the Community Association have been working hard to get it ready.
- 45:15Speaker 19: I think it's a packed house over there too. A
- 45:17Speaker 19: lot of folks now that both events are on the
- 45:20Speaker 19: same day. This is how we used to always do it,
- 45:22Speaker 19: and we're finally back to that. A lot of folks
- 45:24Speaker 19: they'll leave the art sale, they'll come, they'll just walk
- 45:26Speaker 19: over to the boulevard and enjoy a full, full afternoon
- 45:29Speaker 19: of beer and music and food.
- 45:30Speaker 20: So you also have time to go home and taken
- 45:32Speaker 20: that first, you want, sure.
- 45:34Speaker 2: And we got Stephen Jenny's yard sale going on. That's
- 45:36Speaker 2: right over at Laidley Field, and now I think it
- 45:38Speaker 2: wraps up about one. So what Stephen Jenny does. Yeah,
- 45:40Speaker 2: there's certainly no shortage of things to do now, and
- 45:43Speaker 2: so you're doing the VIP. Early access starts at three.
- 45:46Speaker 2: It's fifty five bucks. General admission is forty five dollars.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Explain the difference between the VIP and generals.
- 45:52Speaker 19: VIP you do, like you said, you get an extra
- 45:54Speaker 19: hour of the event from three to four. You get
- 45:56Speaker 19: early access. Right, lives will be shorter, These lines will
- 45:58Speaker 19: be shorter. I will say a lot a lot of folks
- 46:00Speaker 19: take advantage of the VIP. I think we typically have
- 46:02Speaker 19: just as many VIPs we do GJA. Yeah, you know
- 46:06Speaker 19: the big difference this year, celebrating ten years, we had
- 46:08Speaker 19: that FOMO promo going as we came on several weeks
- 46:11Speaker 19: ago to promote an announce and I believe it's almost
- 46:14Speaker 19: sold out, but you get a special ten years on
- 46:16Speaker 19: tap cup with that and also VIP access and of
- 46:19Speaker 19: course if you just want to join for GA that
- 46:21Speaker 19: starts at four o'clock, tickets will be available at the
- 46:24Speaker 19: gate until we sell out, So we are encouraging folks
- 46:28Speaker 19: to get there and get there, get their cup and
- 46:30Speaker 19: their wristband and enjoy the enjoy the day as soon
- 46:32Speaker 19: as they can.
- 46:32Speaker 20: We also, if you're a VIP, have an entire tent
- 46:36Speaker 20: just for VIP that has specialty beers from all of
- 46:39Speaker 20: our most of our distributors that are only accessible.
- 46:43Speaker 12: To VIP fas.
- 46:43Speaker 2: And how many beers do we have? How many different
- 46:46Speaker 2: beer vendors?
- 46:46Speaker 6: Over one hundred and thirty beers this year.
- 46:48Speaker 2: That's the way we'd like to phrase it, over one hundred.
- 46:50Speaker 19: And thirty different beers, Yes, beers siders. Seltzer's Slushy Us.
- 46:55Speaker 19: There's a slushy machine at one of the booths. You know,
- 46:57Speaker 19: a boozy slushy machines. Of course it's seltzer. It's not liquor.
- 47:02Speaker 19: We don't serve liquor at this event. So but yeah,
- 47:05Speaker 19: I mean, this is this is that event, Lauren, I
- 47:07Speaker 19: think mentioned this yesterday. This is that event that people
- 47:10Speaker 19: schedule their whole weekend around. They come in. You know,
- 47:13Speaker 19: there was one year that the there was a team
- 47:17Speaker 19: it was the members of a basket or a track
- 47:19Speaker 19: team from the University of Michigan, and they were in
- 47:22Speaker 19: for a rafting trip and they saw our ad come
- 47:25Speaker 19: up on their phone for this craft beer festival, and
- 47:27Speaker 19: they showed up and they came and enjoyed tracks for
- 47:29Speaker 19: the entire day.
- 47:30Speaker 2: You're going to tell me that college kids like beer.
- 47:32Speaker 6: Isn't that a crazy concept something you just learn along
- 47:35Speaker 6: the way.
- 47:36Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 47:37Speaker 19: But to that point, Dave, as you know, age range
- 47:39Speaker 19: for this event is it spans? I mean we're talking
- 47:42Speaker 19: twenty one to seventy five. Everybody enjoys this.
- 47:45Speaker 2: Do you have to be twenty one to get in?
- 47:47Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 47:47Speaker 2: Somebody asked me. Somebody couldn't you can't bring.
- 47:49Speaker 6: Your kids with it? We don't.
- 47:50Speaker 19: So if you look on the website, there's a whole
- 47:51Speaker 19: FAQ section on the website. It's a very small babies,
- 47:54Speaker 19: small kids that can be that can be like, you know,
- 47:57Speaker 19: held whatever.
- 47:58Speaker 6: That's fine.
- 47:59Speaker 19: We understand people some time was like to bring their
- 48:00Speaker 19: very small kids with them that they can be held,
- 48:02Speaker 19: but we do not encourage folks to bring their you
- 48:04Speaker 19: know five, there's other for kids to do.
- 48:06Speaker 2: They're old enough to go and try to try to
- 48:08Speaker 2: score some beer, then you probably don't want them there.
- 48:12Speaker 2: Twelve year old Dave would have been doing twelve year
- 48:14Speaker 2: old Rick would have been doing one another.
- 48:15Speaker 20: They'd also be bored because, like Rick said, we don't
- 48:17Speaker 20: have a lot of activities for kids at the event.
- 48:21Speaker 2: Yes, a texture says, I have a question because I'm
- 48:23Speaker 2: a little confused with the admission price into the event.
- 48:26Speaker 2: Do you still have to pay for non alcoholic beverages
- 48:29Speaker 2: or food trucks or anything like that or is all
- 48:31Speaker 2: that included in the missions.
- 48:32Speaker 19: It's a great question. The food, the food vendors, you
- 48:33Speaker 19: do have to pay them individually. So we have fifteen
- 48:36Speaker 19: different food vendors. They all have, as we mentioned yesterday,
- 48:38Speaker 19: the most we've ever had. They'll have their trucks set
- 48:40Speaker 19: up or their tents or their whatever their booths set up,
- 48:43Speaker 19: and you do. We encourage you to bring your debit card,
- 48:45Speaker 19: your cash with you to pay the food vendors for
- 48:48Speaker 19: the food. The beer, of course, is included in your
- 48:50Speaker 19: The beer samples are included in your in your ticket price.
- 48:53Speaker 6: Okay, and the live entertainment as well.
- 48:55Speaker 5: Okay.
- 48:56Speaker 2: And again talk about the designated driver.
- 48:59Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean we of this a few years back.
- 49:02Speaker 19: Actually, the whole time we've had this event, we've always
- 49:04Speaker 19: had folks have access to a free designated driver wristband.
- 49:08Speaker 19: So your group is coming, you've designated your driver for
- 49:11Speaker 19: the day, They're not going to be drinking. We've seen
- 49:13Speaker 19: several people take advantage of this at registration, you know,
- 49:16Speaker 19: they'll they'll buy that ticket and they'll get scanned in.
- 49:19Speaker 6: We give them a red wristband.
- 49:20Speaker 19: They can still enjoy the entire event, the live entertainment,
- 49:22Speaker 19: the food, they just of course don't have access to
- 49:24Speaker 19: the beer tables.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Okay.
- 49:26Speaker 2: And talk about afterwards.
- 49:28Speaker 19: Foam after the dome. I'm so glad we brought this back.
- 49:31Speaker 19: We started this last year. You know, as you know, Dave,
- 49:33Speaker 19: the whole point of our organization is to shine a
- 49:35Speaker 19: huge spotlight on our local business community. Right, That's what
- 49:37Speaker 19: That's why we exist as as an organization, and so
- 49:40Speaker 19: we felt it necessary to make sure that people when
- 49:42Speaker 19: they left the event, the event ends at seven o'clock.
- 49:43Speaker 19: This isn't a late night event. This goes till seven
- 49:45Speaker 19: o'clock still right outside. If people are going to be
- 49:48Speaker 19: wanting dinner, we want to make sure that they are
- 49:50Speaker 19: sticking around in Charleston. Sip on, support local, as we say,
- 49:56Speaker 19: and patronize all the wonderful locally owned businesses downtown East
- 49:59Speaker 19: End side, with fifteen business participating this year.
- 50:02Speaker 6: If you go to the website you'll see the full list.
- 50:05Speaker 19: We're encouraging all of our event attendees, whether you're GA
- 50:08Speaker 19: or VI I P, keep your wristband on wherever you
- 50:11Speaker 19: decide to go. If you're going downtown, if you want
- 50:12Speaker 19: to go to Fight for Short Story or Black Sheep,
- 50:14Speaker 19: if you want to go over to the Nanar Brewery
- 50:16Speaker 19: on the West Side, if you want to go to
- 50:17Speaker 19: the Red Carpet on the East End, wherever you want
- 50:19Speaker 19: to go, keep that riskband on. You're going to get
- 50:21Speaker 19: access to some drinking food specials and all those are
- 50:23Speaker 19: listed on the foam CWV dot com website.
- 50:27Speaker 2: And also want to mention about the music, because we
- 50:29Speaker 2: got some we got with DJ, we got we got
- 50:31Speaker 2: with live music, we got a little bit of everything.
- 50:33Speaker 20: Yeah, So from three to four VIP hour DJ EJ
- 50:36Speaker 20: is going to be bringing the energy. He's often at
- 50:40Speaker 20: a lot of our events and always don't know when
- 50:42Speaker 20: the guy.
- 50:43Speaker 2: I don't know when the guy sleeps.
- 50:45Speaker 6: I just saw an event last night.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Everywhere I go he's he.
- 50:49Speaker 20: Gets the energy going. So that'll be happening three to four,
- 50:52Speaker 20: and then he's going to continue to play throughout the event,
- 50:54Speaker 20: which is going to be great. We have two stages
- 50:55Speaker 20: this year, one on each end of the event. That's
- 50:58Speaker 20: something we added a few years back to really make
- 51:01Speaker 20: it feel like the event is really connected and there's
- 51:04Speaker 20: something to listen to no matter where you're standing. And
- 51:07Speaker 20: then on the main stage we have Wesley Saylor coming
- 51:09Speaker 20: in from Kentucky and then the Charleston Rogues will be
- 51:12Speaker 20: performing to end out the night.
- 51:14Speaker 2: All right, another question for you, they said we've never
- 51:16Speaker 2: been before. Are there tables to sit at or said
- 51:18Speaker 2: to walk around event?
- 51:20Speaker 19: They're not tables to sit at now of course, the
- 51:22Speaker 19: now down toward the stage across from the dome, that
- 51:25Speaker 19: area there that you can walk down to the river.
- 51:27Speaker 19: Folks will like sit on the wall there and that
- 51:29Speaker 19: kind of things on the stairs at the Capitol stairs
- 51:33Speaker 19: they can do that. And then of course the cocktail
- 51:34Speaker 19: tables will be there too.
- 51:35Speaker 2: All right, all right, so it's tomorrow and you can
- 51:38Speaker 2: get more information, get those tickets foam SEEWV dot com.
- 51:42Speaker 2: We are going to be down there. All of our
- 51:44Speaker 2: stations will be there. I'll be there with the Mountain KWS, HSB,
- 51:47Speaker 2: We're all going to be down there as well. And
- 51:49Speaker 2: then we even get to get up on stage a.
- 51:50Speaker 6: Little bit, say the main attractions. Dave Atlan on the stage.
- 51:52Speaker 20: Yeah, get this guy a microphone.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Go on, yeah, go on, believe in that. All right, guys,
