- 0:00[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome live to the Big Play Cleveland show.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_02]: We got an ALCS coming up for the Guardians, but first we got hand for Dix and here today talking Browns hand for Hand for Dix and talking Browns after yesterday 17 and 12 lost stick around because Jensen Lewis joins us at 12 30 to talk guards versus raised in the ALCS And they want to clock lobes leads.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's gonna come in and give you the breakdown of what went wrong for the Browns Chris.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: How are you doing today?
- 0:25[SPEAKER_05]: I'm doing well.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, we're on to the ALCS that feels good opens tonight with our tribe down there with the race.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_05]: This is gonna be fun.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_05]: I'll tell you what, I love postseason baseball.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_05]: There's nothing that I enjoy more than that.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_05]: And then when I'm actually watching the game, though, Jack, I just wanna die.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_05]: I'll tell you what, the anxiety just kills me when it comes to baseball.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_05]: Much more so than football, much more so than basketball.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_05]: I think because you don't get the continuous action, but it all starts tonight and I can't wait for it, Jack.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, of course we have the little browns if almost seemed like the roller coaster had to come down a little bit Like Cleveland couldn't be all the way up.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_02]: It couldn't just be a straight meteoric rise Something had to go wrong and it did hand for yesterday for the brown 1712 you sat Carson swissinger punches that ball out things are looking good.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_02]: You get the ball back next thing you know What three straight plays took nine seconds ball goes over the ponder's head and you're losing it It was crazy just some crazy things happen.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: things crazy things happen whenever we're in that building uh uh anyway but i have to say this i was totally disappointed because uh that was a team that i thought we could beat that was a team i thought we were going to beat and uh you know you have you you did you guys feel the same way that i was feeling like doing the course of that game you know how you watching a game and you just don't like the way uh things are going the way as uh i was just sitting there and sit there and
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: uh... with this game and it states it seemed like it stayed at seven six forever uh... doing the uh... doing the course of that game but uh... we just didn't get any better yesterday and i thought that was a golden opportunity before for us to get better before we uh... face uh... another team in our division this week uh... talked about the uh... Baltimore ravens
- 2:12[SPEAKER_05]: your voice and just like the weather there it felt a little dreary even watching that game.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_05]: You never really had a real comfortable feel about what we were doing out there on the field the entire time.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_05]: You know, the rain was coming down.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_05]: You saw the offense sputtering as we've seen it before, but man, it really, really becomes big when you're in that kind of rain and you cannot run the ball whatsoever.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_05]: You see the defense stepping up and then like you said, Jack, come and down the stretch.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_05]: When you get the ball back,
- 2:39[SPEAKER_05]: with four minutes left and it's just handed to you on a silver platter you run the ball out of bounds and then two incomplete passes then you go and you snap it over the punters head.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, what are we doing out there?
- 2:51[SPEAKER_05]: We talk about winning at the margin every single week in here and a team like this, we're so close.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_05]: You got to win those those games at the margin and we just lost big time at the margin yesterday.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: Look guys, you know what, you know, you know, uh,
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: watching that game I mean obviously we could talk about the weather because the weather was bad but it was you know it was the same conditions the elements was the same you know they had to play it and then obviously we had to play it and obviously they did a better job than what we did during the course of the game but when you look at it I mean our problem is
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: Our offensive line, who we thought was playing a lot better than what it did yesterday, and then we can't run the ball.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we just cannot run the football.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think you look at, I think yesterday, and accounting, yesterday, there's been 19 games that the junk is not rushed for 100 yards.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think he rushed, rushing on the yards one, and 19 games.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: know what it is about him, you know, it's just him and the office of line that can't get this old thing going, but we can't run the ball.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously if you can't run the ball, I mean it's going to hurt you because you look on the other side.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think they were missing one of their top running backs, but they had
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: Allen this guy he went over a hundred yards and he had some he had some big runs But we have to be able to run the ball because I hate to say that and you guys know I said all you know And I'm getting ready to say I said over and over and over again I said every week the game of football is controlled on the offensive and defensive line of scrimmage I mean there is no if and some
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: But it's about it and when we can't run the ball obviously showed up and I'm now I didn't even mention the sacs I mean what we have they we gave up eight yesterday.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was guys.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, eight.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's eight We gave up eight sacs yesterday.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's unheard of and I knew going into this ball game I knew that they were gonna the jets were gonna bless
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: But it just seemed like, I don't know if it seemed like this to you guys.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: It seemed like every single play on defense, they were sitting in the house.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: They were coming at us.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: And to Sean, I mean, I mean, I call him who Dini's sometimes, but he did a couple of who Dini's ex yesterday, but he was under a lot of pressure.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: And let's just put it all on the table.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the Sean could have played better.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: The whole offensive line everybody could have played better.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was a total, total team loss and I guarantee you, Todd would be the first one to tell you that the coach is going to coach better.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, uh, obviously, you got to own it when you, you know, when you don't play, when you don't win, you got to own it.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: And just like you do when they go out and they win a ball game.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, and for did you feel like this is more of a good team waste again opportunity against an inferior opponent or a team that's maybe starting to show who they really are I thought it was I thought it was I don't think it's a team that started to show who they are.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: what they are.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: I still think this is a good football team.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: I still think there's a lot of good players on this football team.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously when you look at both teams, they had some key players on both of the teams that were missing, but I think we just wasted a golden golden opportunity yesterday.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, how big would it have been?
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: coming into this game against the Baltimore Ravens, both teams tied top of the FC North and this game was going to decide who was going to be the leader in the FC North.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that would have been huge.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: The game's still a big game because every time you play a team in your division, I mean, it's a big big game, but I just think we missed a golden golden opportunity yesterday, not winning against the
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not saying the jets are not a good football team because one thing we always say, I mean, you can get beat every week regardless of who you're playing because this is the NFL.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: All teams have good players on it.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: But I still thought that we were better than new new new new New York jets and I thought we're going to win that ball game.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_05]: And here's, and you, you were looking ahead a little bit to there to the Ravens, and I think the way that this team has got to think about it is this is still a game for first place, like don't don't let your mistakes come pound upon each other right, which is what historically Browns teams would do you start losing these games at the margin then all of a sudden it starts stacking and the negative starts stacking on top of each other.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_05]: We can put an end to that this week.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_05]: If you go out there, you beat the Ravens.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_05]: Next week, the conversation is completely different about this team.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_05]: It's like, hey, that jet's game that was ugly, that was in the rain, completely put that one off to the side.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_05]: The Browns are back.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_05]: We're ready to go.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_05]: We're competing in the division and we're looking forward to the playoffs.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_05]: Rather than like we are right now, we're asking questions about, hey, it's just the same old Browns, right?
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: And Chris, I agree with you 100%.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: you know me and I see or best friends and I see a tell you you know he'll call me this week and he'll say well I know you and I we we part ways this week because you know I like the ravens I like to see a win but boy when they're playing the Browns and you know question about it where my Lord is like my Lord is like right here with this orange and brown and I agree with you 100% because this is
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: And by no means am I giving up on this ball club and am I giving up on this football team.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: I still think this is a good football team.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: I still think we have a good head coach and I still think that he's going to He's going to get him and have him ready to play because
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: But this game whether he'll say it or not, this game is a little special to him.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: This game means a lot to him because guys, I mean, he's coming over from the Baltimore Ravens.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously he was there offensive coordinator and he came over here and he's the head coach.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: So this game means a lot to him and I guarantee you he's going to have those those guys ready to play.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: But I just win this one, all I could tell him just win this one and everybody will forget about those jets.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_05]: And you don't talk about, do not you have anything on the line these weeks against no What you're even right now.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'll make him pay for dinner Saturday night anyway, so you know I was busy.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_05]: Aussie should always pay.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_05]: That's right.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_05]: That's right.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, but you know before you guys say that you know I was I knew he was a good player.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: I just didn't know How good of a player was quincey will you?
- 9:31[SPEAKER_02]: He's been a dog last two years.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, my goodness.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you hit it right on the head when you say he's been a dog.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he can play.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: I knew he could play Jack, but I just, I didn't know he could play as well as, you know, he's shown yesterday.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Ryan said on the post game show yesterday, it feels like you don't even miss Devon Bush at all sometimes, right, flipping it back to the offense Hanford, not asking you to assign all the blame to of the loss to a coach or the quarterback or the O line, but to Sean Watson under 50% against the New York Jazz.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was 155 passing yards while short of 200 at what point with the contract that you do have with the Sean Watson.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_02]: Do you need him to try and take over in games like that?
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: Well, he didn't have his best show in yesterday.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that was obvious, but he didn't get any help either from a lot of his guys.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: And you could say it was raining, which was a weather condition, which was really, really bad.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: But there was a lot of drop passes, a lot of passes that hit guys in the chest, a lot of passes that went through guys hands and then there was some throws that he just didn't get it there, they wasn't good throws.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm not going to throw Dishon under the bus right now because he's he's one of three games, I mean he had us at one point other than yesterday we were
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: willing to give him the benefit of the doubt right now.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: I want to stay with him.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see especially against the Baltimore Ravers.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: The only thing I hate about those Baltimore Ravers that's coming in here now, there's a possibility that they just may get Lamar back.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, that high angle spring, I've had one, and I'm sure you guys at some point have had one, too.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: but then high ankle sprain is really, really tricky.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: But we have a couple guys, I think junk in this got,
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: was walking on in a boot, I think a swissinger was walking on in a boot, those two guys maybe have high ankle sprains, but it's a tough injury to come back from and it's something that can linger from like two, three, four weeks.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully Lamar, but then you look at it
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: This guy, he, uh, back up quarterback.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he, he, he's, he's pretty decent now.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: He's no Lamar, but he's pretty decent.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: And, uh, when they went in, they went and stole that game in overtime.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think, I mean, they just stole that game.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm, to answer your question, Jack, I'm not ready to give up on the Sean yet.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: I want to keep him at the quarterback.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think he can play better.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: I guarantee he'll be the first one to tell you he can play better.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: but they got to get it going this week because this is a big, big week just forget about the jazz, wash them down the drain, get ready for the ball to more ravens.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and like you were saying, there are a lot of people suggesting that Lamar will be back for this game right now.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_05]: The ravens come in as a three and a half point favorite in this game and that suggests that people think that Lamar is going to be there at the home back for the ravens.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_05]: So it would be
- 12:38[SPEAKER_02]: Hanford talking a bit about the offense because he mentioned that it wasn't all just strictly on the Sean Watson right the old line definitely didn't have a spectacular game.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: Would you make it the drop so that I say a bond?
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: you know I thought he made some plays at some point I don't know what did he end up with three or four receptions but he made some plays and obviously we know his biggest thing is his speed he's very very quick guy and but I was a little bit disappointed like one particular play I think it was Bond.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: DeShunt the Sean through this one pass and and seemed like he jumped in the air for the past and I'm like why is he jumping
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: go off his feet.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean the ball was right there in his hands and obviously he didn't catch it, but he didn't do his quarterback any favors and we really needed him to step up yesterday, especially with Casey going out early in the ball game with the with the big hit.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: But, Bon, I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: I, I, I, I, I thought he could have played.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: I, all of them could have played better.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: All of them could have, uh, could have helped us more.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: But, uh, I, I, I still like Bona.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted him on this, uh, ball club and, uh, Jared Judy.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: I, I was looking for Jared Judy to pop up and, and do more than what he did yesterday.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, uh, again, I'm talking, I'm not single on him out.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I'll single on every single body on that offense.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think they all, uh, could
- 14:12[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, Hanford, can I ask you a question?
- 14:14[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, they have a bond on a particular play.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_05]: There was a play in the fourth quarter where he caught a ball, Watson kind of moved to the right and it was flushed out that way then through a ball to him going down the sideline.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_05]: It looked like Isaiah Bond could have turned that up and gone down the sideline for six, but he seemed to just kind of give himself up to the sideline and go out of bounds there.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_05]: Do you know the play I'm talking about?
- 14:37[SPEAKER_05]: Did you think he could have turned that thing up?
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: I agree with you and that was a big question mark I had too because I was looking at it and I didn't understand it and I was hoping that someone would put some clarity on that whole thing but I agree with you 100% I was confused.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know I thought he could have, I thought he could have turned it up because especially with his speed, all he need is just a little opening and obviously he could take it to the house but he did kind of give himself up.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think a young kid, but, you know, you've got to grow up now.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: This is your fifth ball game, but especially again, I'll go back, KC was out, and we really needed him yesterday, but there's a lot of things a Christian could have happened that should have happened that didn't happen yesterday.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_02]: So, Hanford, we talked about Isaiah Bond.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: The reason he was in the game was because Casey Sepsion got knocked out by Mink of Fitzpatrick.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: A guy that some people will tell you is a little bit dirty out there on the football field.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: Some people would accuse him of hurting Nick Chobacopple.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: Years ago, some people would even say that he heard Casey Sepsion yesterday.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see what Todd Munkan had to say about it, then you'll get your thoughts Hanford.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's just a bang bang play.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Mink has been in this league a long time.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's not a dirty player.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: I've never seen that out of him.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's a bang bang play.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: You know, unfortunately it happened to our guy and that's part of the league.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, not having Casey's a part of it, but everybody's missing players.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's the NFL.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: You lose guys throughout the course of the game.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: And ultimately, you count on the next man up, the expectations of the position.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: We obviously didn't do enough, it was just didn't do enough on offense.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_00]: And for what do you think about what Todd had to say to you, agree?
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: Let me tell you guys some.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: You first of all, you got to understand.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a defensive player.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I played defensive back.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: You're talking about a guy that wanted to hit him.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: And when we wanted to hit him, we wanted to hit him hard enough.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and obviously the game has changed from what I play, but we wanted to hit them hard enough where we can whisper in their ear and say, get up, get up, get up, get up, get up, get up, no one that can't get up, but get up.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: We wanted to hurt them, we wanted them to be out for our game.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: Now, let me clarify that.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: We want them out for our game, but we want them to be able to play next week.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: We just didn't want them to be able to play in our game and never
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: never did we want to hit someone to ruin their career or anything like that.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: We're not, and what I'm talking about a good, clean, legal hit.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing dirty.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there's a place in the game for anything dirty or anything any illegal hits.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: And when you watched the hit that he put on KC, there was nothing wrong with that hit.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm telling you
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: And then he called him a little bit with this helmet, but I thought that was nothing wrong, nothing dirty.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: I just thought it was a good clean hit, and I was surprised that they gave him a 15-yard penalty on that.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: Because I think the right now, the way you go in with Dana Felt, I think Dana Felt is just too soft right now.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I understand you have your quarterbacks, you have to protect.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: I understand you have your receivers, you want to protect, and other players that you want to protect.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: but a good clean legal hit.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: And when you watch what he did yesterday, it was a good clean legal hit.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I agree with Todd.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's not a dirty player.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't think fit to the dirty player.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think he just goes out into plays the game hard and he, that's the way he was taught the player and that's the way he plays it.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: But you could, you know,
- 18:25[SPEAKER_00]: KC was shook up baby.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_00]: He was shook up after that.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: He welcomed to the NFL.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's all I could say to him.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the NFL.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_02]: Hanford, if make if it's Patrick once an Auburn instead of Alabama, would you be saying the same thing right now?
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: I see that you try to start, so you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you don't even start with Alabama, because you know, I'm already mad with what happened over the weekend.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_00]: Can I talk about Alabama for one second?
- 18:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: How in the hell can you watch an Alabama going into that ball game with number six.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: Okay Georgia was number two Texas law switch was number one Indiana should have lost how can Indiana jump Alabama a stay ahead of Alabama in the right and then
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: Alabama should have won the game because it was clearly clearly passed in affairs that they should have called uh in the end zone and I'm telling you I just think it's just absolutely uh ridiculous the what happened and the way things transpired doing that ball game.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: George is a good team but when you look at it it was two heavy weights in the SEC going against each other and Alabama pretty much should have come out on top of that ball game but they the rough stove that game
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: It should be, you would think in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in, in,
- 20:10[SPEAKER_02]: And Hanford, stick it on penalties here for a second, because Ruff's might have had a hand in the outcome of that SEC game, but one thing that's plagued the Browns now for it seems right about five weeks.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: So the pre-snap penalty slash penalties in general, at what point is it just a full blown problem?
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's a problem right now, because I think we had 12 penalties then we had 14.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I think yesterday, we didn't have as many, but we still had, we still only had six.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, just six, probably only had six.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_05]: It just came in key spots, I think.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and Chris, I was going to say, I think you agree with me six to still too many, too many penalties that we, that's one thing that we have to clean up.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_00]: And besides the running game, we have to clean up all the penalties because they're obviously it's definitely hurting this ball club.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: hand for keeping it going moving forward back a little bit into what's going to happen this weekend for the Browns sitting now three and two when you look at it seem like bought some more obviously you got some ties to the Ravens organization hand from what about what you've seen on the Ravens so far makes you think the Browns can respond correct course and get back on the right track at four and two.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: Well, anytime you're going up against a team in your division, I think you could just take those records and you could just throw them out of the window because, you know, that's just like when we played the Steelers, when we played the Bengals are back then, it was the Houston, Houston, that was in our division.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: Whenever we played a team in our division, I'm telling
- 21:44[SPEAKER_00]: weeks still understood that this is going to be a tough game force and that's the that's the way it's going to be with the Ravens and the uh and the Browns.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_00]: I mean these two teams in the MC North they're fighting for uh uh the top obviously the Ravens are there at the top right now but you
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: Chris hit it right on the head.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: We coming win this game.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_00]: We're still tied for the lead with the abs.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_00]: You know and the Ravers understand it and the Browns understand both of these teams understand what it's a state doing this ball game and I guarantee you both teams are going to be ready to play and you got to
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: a new first time had coaches coach in each team got manner with the uh... with the ravens and obviously you got taught with us so uh... i i can't wait is is must watch TV talking about this uh... this ball game coming up with us
- 22:35[SPEAKER_05]: I'm trying to remember now back to the you mentioned Houston and the Houston Oilers.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, back in those days.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, the Houston Oilers were right, you had the Cincinnati Bengals with boomer a size and the Steelers had Bobby Brister, right?
- 22:49[SPEAKER_05]: I think you're right.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you, right.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_05]: I nail all three of those back in your day, man, because the Steelers people don't remember back then the Steelers weren't much, but man, you had to watch out for Houston Houston was really good and so were the bangles.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_05]: They were very, very good back then.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_05]: And the Steelers were kind on that second level, because we really compete in that division with those two teams as I recall, Hanford is am I right?
- 23:12[SPEAKER_00]: It was so funny because it's still, you know, we used to wax that waxed them every time we played them, you know, and you know how the fans still are fans are just a rudeness
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I know they go cuss me out of something, but that's why we'd like beaten you so But that's why I had you when it came to Cleveland I had such a good time You know, given them a hard time talking about those steel fans, but we just enjoyed the battles with those teams in theFC North, but you right you remember Warren Moon and all the weapons Chris that he had a wide receiver.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean those those guys Jerry Glennville.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_05]: Did you have a great one good time?
- 23:52[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: it was it was a strong division of back then guys it was a fc central now it's a fc north so
- 23:59[SPEAKER_02]: And for let's talk about another winning team here.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_02]: How about those Cleveland Guardians going to the LCS, huh?
- 24:04[SPEAKER_00]: Man, I thought you were never going to get to it because you and Chris started off to show.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_00]: And y'all started talking about the Guardians and I wanted to talk.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: But you told me I couldn't talk about it.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: I had to wait, you know, and then I was all upset.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: But you guys went ahead and talked about it.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: But wouldn't let me talk about it.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: Because we were in a way to get the floor right now.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_00]: Right now.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, you guys is my guard, you know, my guard, you know, because I'm with the win, loser draw.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_00]: Let me tell you guys something, but you guys, I tell you guys all the time, how superstitious I am watching the game.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_00]: So here I am, watching the game.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Gattas was pitching.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: Was he pitching when the basis was loaded?
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: So Browsky came in.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_02]: The Browsky came in, yeah.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, he came in.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: So Browsky came in and replaced him and got the final out, right?
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: After Gavin, yeah.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't, I couldn't watch it when the bases were loaded.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_05]: I had to watch.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_05]: I always say, man, arrested.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_05]: What do you watch?
- 24:58[SPEAKER_05]: What do you go over?
- 24:59[SPEAKER_00]: I just, you know what?
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I just stare at the wall.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I do?
- 25:03[SPEAKER_00]: Chris, I turn it from there because I, and then, you know, I'll just hit the switch to go back because I know once I go back, I said if it's a commercial on, we're good, pretty much.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_00]: But if a commercial's not on, if they're still back, you know what I mean?
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: There's a problem and then I was so happy and then you know what I'll do I'll back it up and go and I'll watch it You know what happened you know what transpired but and I try to tell you guys you guys won't listen to me
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: I try to tell your Jose and it's going to get right.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: Woo!
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: You guys were not listening to me.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: Did you?
- 25:43[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think that ball was going out.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: Did you guys think it was going out?
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: How did he hit that boy?
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: I was pretty wrong.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_02]: I was pretty wrong.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: He hit that ball.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: because I mean, how did he hit it?
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: Did you see how he went there practically?
- 25:56[SPEAKER_05]: But now that he looks like you on the 3rd T, and you're down in there.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_05]: He got that thing up and golfed it out to right field.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_05]: That was incredible.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_00]: And can you guys tell how into these series?
- 26:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, how fired up he is.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we're so then he's ever been you know what's funny about that that swing in particular you know that ball doesn't go out Let's say that's a soft out-to-write field and everything else.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_05]: It's everybody would be saying Jose is trying to do too much.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_05]: He's trying what was he swinging out there
- 26:26[SPEAKER_05]: But that's why he swings at those pitches, right?
- 26:29[SPEAKER_05]: And he knows greatness.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_05]: He knows he's still got it in there.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_05]: He right now is being held back by an injury.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_05]: But he knows it's still there.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_05]: So if he could get it, man, he's going to go after it.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_05]: God.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_05]: God.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying this.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a little worried with Tampa because Tampa is for some reason.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: They always think they've had our number this year.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: But you know what I can, you know what I say, guys?
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose Jose
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, my God.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_00]: You do your tough with that one.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna right now is guards time, so I'm gonna go with the guards go to the world series.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_02]: I can't hand for them.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_05]: There's so much to do now that you can't hand around.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_02]: The goat hand for thank you so much for joining us as always.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_02]: All right, don't go anywhere here on the Big Play Cleveland show.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: Jensen Lewis going to be joining us in a minute to talk some more guards, but first we got to tell you about our friends over at the third estimate.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_02]: Got a room in your house that's warmer in the summer and colder in the winter.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_02]: Currents that move even when the windows are shut.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's not haunted.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's just drafty.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_02]: The third estimate will do a free window inspection, show you exactly where outside air is getting in, and give you a written price that's good for six months with absolutely no pressure.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_02]: Book your free window inspection at the thirdestimits.com or call 1-2-3-4 windows.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_02]: The third estimate, small enough to listen and big enough to deliver.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back on live into the Big Play Cleveland show Jack O'Rourke alongside Chris reflog McNeill and it's time to bring the heat with Jensen Lewis, Jensen, you set up here on Friday and said, Jose, man, that might have been the most consequential home run of your career in game for and just low and behold a few short hours later of what is he doing, Jensen, the guards are moving on to the LCS things to that man.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_04]: I unbelievable right and just a credit to the player for for his dramatic moments whenever the the moment gets the largest it feels like he has answered it guys a staggering final three games and coming back from that to deficit he would 5 for 12 was a 417 batting average.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_04]: four extra base hits, including those two home runs and seven RBI, that also runs his postseason 10 year since 2020 to hitting 286 with 15 extra base hits 22 ribbies in almost, I think 18 walks in 19 strikeouts.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_04]: That's his last 27 playoff games.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_04]: That's going to get it done and some history on the line here as we begin the ALCS.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_04]: He's got two RBI shy of tying Saniela Marginia
- 29:14[SPEAKER_04]: in Cleveland, postseason history.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_04]: Sandy is 28 and then Jim told me has 36 RBI so already rare air.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if they've already started designs on the statue, but they better because that's an iconic moment in an iconic weekend for Jose Ramirez.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_05]: Another guy at a big game, Gavin Williams, you know, as a fan, just watching him mow guys down, man, it is a treat to watch, but as a former pitcher, what technically is he doing that is just so darn good and so effective this playoff?
- 29:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Chris, to me, it's a getting ahead, which he's done a bunch and then when he's had two strikes, it's just wiping people out with a really elite consistency and you know, whether it is the fastball at triple digits or a couple of power breaking balls.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_04]: I think his repertoire has been as dominant as we've seen him in his guardians tenure and I don't think, you know, we're debating that, but it's the latter part of the season and really being able to maintain for the better part of two and a half months.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's the most impressive part.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_04]: You start to see guys tail off at the end of the year and you could expect that.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_04]: You know, from a lot of young pitchers, but it just feels as the calendar has worn on.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_04]: He has improved and strengthened, and without his heroic efforts here down the stretch, Cleveland is not four wins away from the world series.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_02]: Jensen talking about Steven vote a little bit you're at a point where you're down to Owen the series you come back you win three straight including two on the road for it's even like us hasn't better on the road almost if not all this season Jensen if you could highlight like one or two things you saw to Steven vote that made the difference in getting to the ALCS what would you say out of the last three games?
- 30:54[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, just making the right calls as the easy answer, but I think he was unwavering in his hyper aggressiveness and using the bullpen resources, the way that he did.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_04]: And I know I talked to you guys last week.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_04]: If it were me, I would have done a few things different, but I think he just had it in his mind.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_04]: If he's gonna go down, he's gonna go down, using his big guns and using him as often as possible.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_04]: Now we'll see where,
- 31:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that usage may end up affecting guys like Kate Smith and Hunter Gattison and the back end of the bullpen here today in tomorrow and maybe throughout the first three to four games of this ALCS.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_04]: But I guess the old adage, you know, you can rest in the off season and I'm sure he checked in with all those guys every single day and really looked him in the eye and said,
- 31:44[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, be honest with me man like we're up against it.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_04]: I got to know and it's easy to say.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm good.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_04]: I'm good skip that roll me back out there, but it's an even bigger testament to to Steven as a former catcher having been there kind of knowing when a guy hasn't or when a guy doesn't and so that was a huge difference maker for me, especially in those last three games.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_05]: Jensen kind of a fun moment in the game, PD helping earlier in the game tries to stretch a double into a triple and he gets picked off there.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_05]: As he's coming around second, everybody in the dugout puts up the stop sign along with or do or so what was your thoughts in that moment when you see the holes clubhouse just putting up the stop sign for PD help and stop
- 32:28[SPEAKER_04]: there it's a don't go on a third don't make the same mistake twice it's terrible right Chris and and one of those good nature moments it can tells you how close that that group is and you'll for a youngster you preach trying to to force the defense to make a play and you know nine times at a ten eight times out of ten
- 32:46[SPEAKER_04]: He's probably making it there and and you can appreciate that style and that pedigree and and that's kind of what they've done all year right is forced the issue trying to get guys in the scoring position, a myriad of different ways and let's face it, you know, this guy is hit a couple of big Homer's couple of big extra basics here.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_04]: late in the season and you know has played a pretty damn good defense about field too.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_04]: So again, different pieces of the puzzle Chris, you know, it doesn't matter if you're youngster, doesn't matter if you're veteran.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_04]: It feels like each one of these guys has played a significant role no matter how much experience they've had.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_02]: Moving forward, Jensen heading down to the traps tonight are our Cleveland Guardians.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_02]: If you could give for the people out there who maybe didn't catch enough Tampa Bay race, Tampa Bay Ray baseball throughout the regular season, a quick little mini-scattering report who are the guys you'd highlight.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Jack, I mean, this is the best team in the American League all year, a deservedly so the one seed for reason, I think Kevin Cash probably has maybe one of his more well rounded teams as far as what they're good at, make no mistake about it.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_04]: The guy they're going up against the night and Drew Rasmussen, not only in all star, but has really developed into a true ace.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_04]: And guards are going to be up against it.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_04]: All he's done, it is last six starts
- 34:03[SPEAKER_04]: the race are 6 and 0 in those last six starts and you know it's a guy that's only given up.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_04]: I think one home run in his last six starts as well.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_04]: So he is limited a lot of the slug.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_04]: You're going to see a boatload of changeups.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_04]: I think and it was a primary weapon that he used in his loan start against the Yankees.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_04]: Our friends that only know we know we're a research telling us.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_04]: 28 times he used it at a career high Yankees went over nine with four strikeouts against him did face the guardians earlier this year.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_04]: July 26 one hit in seven shutout innings.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_04]: He punched out nine in a one nothing victory.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_04]: So no stranger to to dominating this lineup and it will be a tall task.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_04]: The season series guys really tells the whole story.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_04]: Tampa had their way with this group and really limited their offense.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_04]: They outscored Cleveland 20 to 8 in route to winning five of the six contest.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_04]: Now I've always been a disciple of you can take that for what it's worth.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_04]: It is a data point, but I think this is also a way different Cleveland team that is coming in with the mojo in the momentum that they are playing against this race club.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_05]: So we got Foster Griffin tonight on the bump.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_05]: What do we need out of him for it to be a good outing and to really get this serious off on the right foot, Jensen?
- 35:21[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, we can, we can hope that he gets through five and that would be so great for this bullpen.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_04]: You know, has been so worked and worked to the max on a lot of different levels.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_04]: If it's low scoring, I think he's got a chance and I only get through five, but hopefully he gets a chance to get six complete.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_04]: And I know that, you know, the history of, of looking at
- 35:42[SPEAKER_04]: You know, winners of game one that that go on to win the series.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_04]: It is such a pivotal one because it does really set you up.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_04]: I'm more of a thought process of can they get one of the first to can you split the first two because then it starts to come back a little bit to Cleveland and I'll be interested game to then the off date.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I would assume it's parcromestic here would be on regular rest going tomorrow, I believe.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_04]: And then we'll see if it is Gavin for game three or game four however they want to work it and a lot of that predicated on what happens here these first two days five innings would be outstanding six would be a dream come true and you know I I'm I'm very interested on on what will Kate Smith have for us tonight pitching every game as we know 77 pitches in just the last three games alone and you know it's a lot of multi inning appearances so
- 36:37[SPEAKER_04]: That's, that's one of those things.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_04]: These two teams renowned for playing tight, low scoring games.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_04]: So every out, going to be critical, every run, going to be paramount home in a way.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_02]: Jensen, if you could talk about the raises a little bit, if there's a world where we don't hope we live in this world where the raise end up being the guards in the ALCS, they have like pretty multi-faceted pitching, good starters, good bullpen, decent lineup, which of those three elements do think will be the ones that ultimately is able to push them over Cleveland if that's the case.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_04]: Well, and you're looking at two teams, a jack that put the ball and play a time.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_04]: They were top five, both the raise and the guardians in contact rate.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_04]: The raise, lead baseball in that category.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_04]: 81.8% guardians were fifth best in the majors at 78.7.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_04]: Both of these teams ranked top seven in stolen bases.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_04]: So I think you're going to see the run game be a real element.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_04]: for both these clubs going to try and steal 90 feet as much as possible put a lot of pressure on on the infield to be able to turn double plays extra outs will be paramount for each side.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_04]: If you make an air if you you know give another it bad and extra at bat in an inning.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_04]: Most of the time, these two clubs have taken advantage of it.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_04]: So if you look at kind of the season overall, this is a a raised team that that did not hit a ton of home runs, they were 20 second in that category, but they were fifth and on base eighth and OPS second install and base is overall and you're looking at a starting rotation that had the fewest walks per nine.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_04]: in all of Major League Baseball.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_04]: So they really don't beat themselves.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_04]: Their defense, they're defensive run saved as second in baseball, they're out to above average, just right at the median at 15.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_04]: So again, it's a fundamentally sound club.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_04]: You're obviously looking in the middle there, former,
- 38:24[SPEAKER_04]: Indian guardian however you want to look at a junior common arrow is going to be that featured guy we talk about it a lot guys you circle someone In the lineup you don't want to beat you and common arrow certainly that guy, but it's it's old Cleveland boy an old Cleveland Indian yandee Diaz to who has now started to kind of get back to vintage yandee and he's
- 38:42[SPEAKER_04]: He's always been really good against his former club.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_04]: So the top three in the lineup or huge, the back end of that lineup, guys, if I'm looking for someone who's really turned it on, here as of late, it's Johnny Deluca, who is a centerfielder for the race for people that haven't watched a lot of Tampa Bay.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_04]: So the bottom of that lineup has got an opportunity to kind of turn things and be able to turn it back over the top.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_04]: Gonna be paramount for this bullpen to try and limit the stolen bases
- 39:12[SPEAKER_05]: You know, we talk a lot about guards balls, sometimes malign, sometimes celebrated and Cleveland, ultimately in that series, what do we end up doing?
- 39:19[SPEAKER_05]: Hitting home runs.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_05]: And that's what got us past.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_05]: Do you think in this series we're going to have to bust out the long ball or do you think guards ball is going to come back and going to carry this series?
- 39:24[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean,
- 39:32[SPEAKER_04]: If you look just Chris at the postseason as a whole, I believe it's teams to out home or their opponent have 145 of the 54 games.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_04]: So that's an 833 win percentage.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_04]: That's over the last two post seasons, but just this year.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_04]: And I think with the brewers win in game one of the NLCS.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_04]: It's now 16 and four teams that out of Homer, the opposition in 2026.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, it's an easy metric to look at there teams to score first to this is a good one and with the Dodgers losing even after scoring first last night teams to score first.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_04]: are 18 and 8 now and then we've talked about it a lot getting that magic number of four teams that score four more runs this postseason are 18 and one and fifth be one in 10.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_04]: That's an 836 win percentage over the last two postseason.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_04]: So scoring first, if we can channel our inner old Tito Francona member, he always used to say
- 40:28[SPEAKER_04]: score first, score next.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_04]: You want to land that first punch and then be able to get the next counter in there and not allow your opponent to really get back up off the deck.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_04]: So getting that early lead and the back end of the Tampa bullpen guys is is really good.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you have the top two guys and saves in the American League and Brian Baker and Kate Smith that'll be featured.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_04]: You're going to see Cam Booser, Kevin Kelly, Tyler Wells.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_04]: You know, Ian Seymour has been good for them out of the pen.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_04]: and uh... you've got a rotation with rasmus in with parole to out of magic might be nick martina's but we'll see grip and jacks will be a weapon for them so if you like a lot of free air conditioning you like a lot of swing and miss uh... it is strength on strength for two teams that put the ball in play and two teams that really generate a lot of strikeouts as well jensen before we get you out of here you know the last question can never be about baseball jensen what's your favorite welfare of movie
- 41:23[SPEAKER_04]: Man, old school is really good.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_04]: It's always a favorite, especially come fall and you're just going to get it rolling.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_04]: Go and streaking is just, it's iconic, right?
- 41:34[SPEAKER_04]: And probably step-brothers is right behind that, too.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_04]: I know Talladega nights a lot of people like, I'm going to stick with that order.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_04]: Coinflip me between old school and step-brothers.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_05]: Are you anti-Holiday movie or are we top at Elf on there, too?
- 41:52[SPEAKER_04]: and you don't meet Chris like I'm that guy like if you put up Christmas stuff before Halloween and thanksgiving you're on the you know do not talk to list not like allow people to have their seasons and enjoy them I'm fine with Santa once the turkey is put away but yeah elf elf definitely during the holidays is a good one
- 42:10[SPEAKER_05]: respect Thanksgiving.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_05]: We do this and around here.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, it's that's the only way to do it.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's only how same people do it.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_02]: Jensen, thank you so much for joining us as always.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully the guard goes get a win tonight.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_02]: You got it.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks, boys.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_02]: Stay tuned.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_02]: We keep on talking about the guards here for a little bit.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_02]: Then one o'clock.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to switch on over.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_02]: Get maxed a little bit here to talk about the Browns and Jets with first.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: We got to tell you about Pizza 216.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_02]: Westsideers get ready.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_02]: Pizza 216 has a new location opening in Avan.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_02]: And for your next guard's game, head downtown to 401 Euclidav.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, we got at least four more guard's games guaranteed.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_02]: No, I have about it.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_02]: They've got plenty of TVs, a great bar, seen it over 20 draft beers.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_02]: Plus, the menu that goes way beyond the pizza.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_02]: I know Ryan, Tyler, himself, big fan of those garlic knots.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: Bring your crew, grab some food, and cheer on the guards together.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_02]: Pizza 216.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_02]: Your downtown game is spot with a new location coming to Avon.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_02]: Check them out at pizza-216.com.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_02]: Chris, let's keep it on moving forward now and talking about these guards.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_02]: Coming off the White Sox series now.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_02]: Do you feel like, because right now I had this talk.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_02]: He did a little uh, Brown's post game show yesterday and we made a quick little guards video for YouTube after.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_02]: How much of that ALDS are you celebrating like, hey,
- 43:19[SPEAKER_02]: Second trip in three years to the ALCS versus versus it being like, okay, we just beat the 84 wind white socks.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's what you're supposed to do in the ALDS after going out and buying at the trade deadline.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_02]: Now let's go try and handle business against the best team in the AL.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_05]: First of all, Kudos to both you and Ryan for doing a post game on that Browns game yesterday.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_05]: That thing was ugly as anything.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_05]: I could just imagine what you had to sloth through in order to be able to put one together on that.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_05]: That one was tough, but as far as the guardians go, I had it in the back of my mind.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure a lot of Cleveland people did too.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_05]: where you go, you chased down somebody in the division like we did Detroit last year, and then you're quick out, you'll lose to Detroit in the playoffs, and you didn't want that to happen this year.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_05]: So that was first and foremost, you had to get over that hurdle.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm not saying that we're playing with house money right now, because I think you've got to make it to this series here.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_05]: Because you eventually, you've got to make that happen.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_05]: You've got a two-time
- 44:13[SPEAKER_05]: manager of the year in Stephen vote, you've got young players and you've got Jose Ramirez with a window that is closing.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_05]: So I hate to waste another career here in Cleveland of one of our superstars, especially a superstar like Jose Ramirez.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_05]: And we're never going to get closer than the ALCS to be in in the world series.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_05]: You got to get it done.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_05]: So I don't think of this as playing with house money.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_05]: My expectation is this team gets it done beats the raise, makes it to the
- 44:42[SPEAKER_02]: Chris, would you be shocked at this point after a P help and came out and had a really strong game in game five if Steven vote went back to on how martina is against the right e tonight.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_05]: Nothing would shock me to your point because we've seen him just juggle with the lineup and he seems to keep going back to him.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_05]: But I and I've seen some stats.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_05]: There are some guys throwing some stats at me online that P.D.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_05]: help and I think it's the better choice, not only with what Angel Martinez with I
- 45:07[SPEAKER_05]: on hell has been just awful.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_05]: We know that he has looked completely clueless at the plate, but I mean, PD can be a positive at the plate.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_05]: We're not talking about a guy who, you know, has a negative war or anything like that.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_05]: We're talking about a guy who I think could work out well and we saw it already in this lineup.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_05]: So,
- 45:25[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it wouldn't surprise you if they go back to on Hell just to try it one more time.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_05]: We always see those guys who kind of come out and know where we talked about last week on the show and are able to have these magical runs on Hell doesn't have it right now though.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_05]: He just doesn't have it.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_05]: I think that well is dry.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_05]: I would rather we stick with Beady.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, not a bad call.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_02]: Chris, I'm in the exact same spot as you.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_02]: I'd rather go with PD for this game.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_02]: Not many changes to the Guardians roster ahead of the ALCS.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_02]: The only one I'm really seeing is Daniel Shneeman getting taken out for Slates.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_02]: A county kind of makes sense, longer series.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_02]: You might want to have more pitchers to be available if needed.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think Matt Festel was the only guy who didn't go in the first place for the guards in the ALDS.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_02]: Chris, any qualms, any confusion, or are you of you cool with what the guards are rollin' out for the ALCS?
- 46:06[SPEAKER_05]: No, I'm cool.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_05]: I think the biggest thing is just going to be the amount of rest.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_05]: And I think we don't as fans really understand what's really going on with these guys.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_05]: They've pitched through a whole season and now you sit there through what we had to juggle to make it to this point so far against the white socks and the playoffs.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_05]: So you've got a bullpen that's worked pretty hard.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_05]: So it'll be interesting to see what voter does to be able to manage that and put out the best arms night in night out even if you're going through more arms than what you may
- 46:35[SPEAKER_05]: in a particular game that's really where he's he's going to make his money now right we talk about how he develops this young team and how he gets these young guys playing and gets us into the playoffs well now we're at the top level here and he's playing the ultimate game of chess when it comes to MLB and he's got to figure out that bullpen and that's not easy to do you've only got a finite number of arms out there there's some guys you think you can count on and leverage situation are there guys that you can't and all of them are tired right now so
- 47:05[SPEAKER_05]: in this series, trying to juggle all of that.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_02]: Chris, who wins tonight and which guardians team are we all talking about tomorrow?
- 47:12[SPEAKER_05]: You know the rules.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_05]: I've been doing this now for weeks, Jack.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_05]: What do I say?
- 47:16[SPEAKER_05]: I am not going to play a place to prediction on this because in the past with the guardians specifically, it has been a jinx.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_05]: So I'm not going to put a prediction down on this one and hopefully our guards are going to do what I expect them to hopefully do.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_05]: in this series and tonight, get it off on the right foot because like Jensen was saying, that's such a big part of what we're trying to do.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_05]: If you could get that done on the road right off the bat, then all of a sudden you got the race going, uh oh, there's a team that's better on the road than what they are at home.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_05]: They already took one or they're going to take another one from us.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, there's so many things that come into play.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_05]: If you could just get off on the right foot, get the first victory out of the way.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_05]: Man, that would be huge.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_04]: Jumping in as the voice of producer Ryan Tyler Chris can give me a prediction for how long the game lasts have you guys seen that they are now predicting how long the game will last for the broadcast really
- 48:06[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they do that every time.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they don't, they don't predict who's going to win.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_05]: They go the length of the broadcast.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and now it's going to go to what?
- 48:12[SPEAKER_05]: 1130, I mean, three and a half hours, probably.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, it seems to, and I don't get into bed until midnight.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_05]: Eight o'clock game for the playoffs.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_05]: Now, regular season is completely different.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_05]: But in the playoffs, you're not getting to bed until 1130.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_02]: So Chris, if someone who theoretically was a lot like you, we're to make a prediction for game one of the ALCS.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_02]: What do you think that person would say?
- 48:35[SPEAKER_05]: That person would say offensive explosion out of nowhere.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_05]: Six runs for the guardians, given up three, six three victory guards.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_02]: Is, do we know Freddie Prozos going game two for Tampa?
- 48:49[SPEAKER_02]: If, if that's the case, I believe it is.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna say the guards lose tonight in a close one, a low scoring game, and then win game two.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_02]: Chris, the best slash worst thing about baseball.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_02]: If you're, if you're the guards right now, it's the best thing about baseball.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_02]: If you're the reason it's the worst thing about baseball.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_02]: For some reason, baseball uses the two, three, two format.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like all you have to do is take one in Tampa Bay then you've got three straight home games.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and that's great for us, obviously.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and I completely agree with you.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_05]: It's it's kind of wild the way that that can dictate the entire series and the mindset of the entire series is just the way that those home games and road games coincide.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_05]: But, you know, with how backwards we've been playing this season, you know,
- 49:31[SPEAKER_05]: be weary even if we're at home we did a great job of finishing off the white socks but we know what this season's been we've talked about it all season long even nobody else was talking about we were asking jensen here hey why the hell are we playing better on the road than we are at home so i no matter how the series sets up we're gonna have to win some at home we're gonna have to win some on the road
- 49:51[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_02]: Stay tuned for the show tomorrow.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_02]: 12 to 130 talking more guards will be right back after Max Loeb as as Max Loeb will join us to talk about the brownies.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back live to the big plate Cleal and show.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_02]: ALCS tonight we're already for that.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_02]: But let's flip it on back to the Cleal and Browns Max Loeb at Loeb's leads joining us now from all the way in beautiful Cleal and Ohio, right?
- 50:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, Cleveland, Ohio.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, how about it, how about it, baby.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_02]: Max, so I know you're traveling around all weekend.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_02]: You're out there for the Penn State White Out.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_02]: How is that real quick?
- 50:18[SPEAKER_02]: Because that's got to be the coolest environment ever.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_03]: It was incredible.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_03]: It's definitely been the best college environment I've been to.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_03]: But I have not been to Columbus for Ohio State Michigan.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_03]: That's kind of what I'm holding out for.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_03]: But I think college environment best I've been too so far.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_03]: How about that?
- 50:35[SPEAKER_05]: The number one thing I'll tell you when you come down to Columbus for that game, make sure you go to the skull session.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_05]: So, arrive early, go to St. John's Arena, make sure you see the band come in, you see, you know, Ryan Day addressed the fans, you see some of the captains address the fans.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_05]: It is an unbelievable beginning that you wouldn't otherwise know about, but you want to go there, then proceed to the stadium after that.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_05]: So, just an unbelievable time.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_05]: It's one of those you'll never forget.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_03]: I'm excited for that.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to try to do that.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's awesome.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_02]: Max, flipping over back to the brownies.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_02]: If you had to pull out the pie chart for the blame for the Cleveland Brown's offense yesterday, what's that pie chart looking like?
- 51:12[SPEAKER_03]: I think obviously, Blame goes around.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_03]: Honestly, I think the biggest piece, even though I'm not sure it's dramatically bigger than the other pieces, I honestly think was the ol' line.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_03]: Like I didn't think the ol' line handle blitz as well, simulated pressures well, obviously running the ball wasn't great.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_03]: And I think there were a couple plays left on the table from not picking up blitz as well as the drops and miss throws.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_03]: So everybody, you know, kind of plays a part here, but I think if the game was 56 minutes long,
- 51:43[SPEAKER_05]: eight sacks in that ball game and then we couldn't as you said we couldn't run the ball at all what do you think is going on with this running game right now we can't seem to get quinsion jug couldn't going is it all offensive line it's definitely it's definitely offensive line centric i would say because the issue with the issue with jug kins has never been
- 52:03[SPEAKER_03]: You know, the ability to like stay ahead of the chains, like all year long the Browns are averaging like four things three point six eight is the number, but like 3.7 yards per carry, which isn't great, but it's not the worst in the NFL.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_03]: It's never been about staying ahead of the chains.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_03]: It's more like the explosives the Browns can't even stay ahead of the chains right now though.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_03]: Like I go back to the.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_03]: first play where the Browns got the ball after the car suspension, your force bumble with like four minutes to go in the game.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_03]: And it was a zero yard run to the boundary word to Juan Jones just got beat right away by David Bailey.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_03]: Who's been playing really well like he had a great game, great player.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_03]: But it's stuff like that that just setting you behind the change that makes the other plays where you could potentially catch a team off guard with the run and get a nice little chunk play there, it makes those impossible to even walk out in.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_03]: yesterday was the offensive line probably more than anything, but I do think just throughout the season it's been it.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_03]: It's been a theme.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_03]: The only successful area of the Browns have had running at least according to fantasy points where I was living at this morning, as off the right tackle everywhere else is negative EPA, which is crazy.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_03]: It's crazy.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_02]: Max, let's talk about the Sean Watson a little bit.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_02]: What'd you make of him yesterday?
- 53:16[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I think my biggest takeaway is honestly that he has his confidence back.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's clear to see he's back to the watch and that believes he can make every throw even though I don't know if he can anymore.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_03]: He believes that which I think is probably a step in the right direction in terms of on field play.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, there were some misthrows on his end, a drop the interception from Mink of Fitzpatrick, but, you know, there were other people like that are part of the blame pi as well.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_03]: I think the drops were bad.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_03]: I think time to throw wasn't great, but any time you're 15 for 33 and no pass catcher has more than four catches like that's an issue.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_03]: That's an issue.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_03]: I think standing in the pocket the more routine throws at times were more challenging than breaking the pocket and throwing down the field.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_03]: But,
- 54:00[SPEAKER_03]: Like I said, if this game was 56 minutes long and not 60, I think you probably look, yeah, Watson could have played better, but in a rainy wet game, if you were to win that game, 12 to 10, whatever it may be, you'd be like, that's what we needed out of him on the day, even though it could have been better.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_03]: Now because they lost, I do think the conversation is gonna change a little bit, whether right or wrong.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_05]: You mentioned Minkas, so that hit, was it a dirty hit that Mink Fitzpatrick had right there?
- 54:34[SPEAKER_03]: It's, it's obviously it's a bank bank plan.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_03]: I think Todd Munkin said that it's tough to like call a play dirty.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_03]: What's really interesting is it look like he left with his shoulder, but it's almost like his head was above his shoulder, so the head made contact first.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, any time Mink of its Patrick does anything gets the Browns like that.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_03]: it's going to be categorized there.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_03]: It's hard not to after the Nick Chub thing, but what was honestly difficult to watch about that is like ruled out right away, lying on the turf.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like I was more worried about Casey, he can step to you on that moment, honestly, that then make it.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_03]: It didn't look like a clean play.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, there was a flag, but yeah, I was more worried about him.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_03]: But I believe I saw maybe I got duped here, but I think he saw I saw he posted on his Instagram story saying that he was okay.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and I did see that.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, and you can't ignore the history, right?
- 55:22[SPEAKER_05]: Like you said, with Nick Chub there.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_05]: So certainly, you understand why a lot of the fans right now are saying that's a journey.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_03]: Even though Hanford Dixon came on here earlier and said, he loves hits like that.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and he completely supported Minkett's Vitt's Patrick in that situation.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_02]: Max, it's a great segue from KC ConceptZone, moving off into the receivers that had your place from yesterday.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_02]: So probably about six days ago, roughly, I would say I accused the Browns of not having great wide receiver depth on this very program.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_03]: And chef, I agree with you.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_03]: I did agree with you.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_02]: You did, no, no, you did, you were, you were right there with me.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_02]: And chef say screamed at us for a good.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_02]: 20-ish minutes about how they have the best wide receiver depth or one of the best I should say don't want to put words in those mouth depth in the NFL at their receiver position seems like that might not be the case
- 56:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, honestly, I don't know if my perspective on the depth changes that much after that game, like it's clear to see the explosives with Isaiah Bond are there, like that play that 25 or whatever yard pass along the sideline where it looked like he could have turned up and maybe taken it to the end zone instead of going out of bounds, like that's left on the table.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_03]: The drop over the middle of the field with like two or so minutes left in the game, that's left on the table.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_03]: The Watson pass that was a little bit,
- 56:40[SPEAKER_03]: out of his reach, but still make contact with his hands in the end zone.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_03]: That's left on table.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_03]: Like it's more about leaving.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_03]: these plays on the table.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_03]: And one of the other things I saw Watson mentioned after the game was Casey Concepcion being so heavily involved in the game plan.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_03]: That was my big thing when I talked about it a week ago.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_03]: He has such a unique skill set, such an incredible ability to help you in the screen game, even as an extension of the run game, which obviously the Browns have not had a ton of success in.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_03]: He has such a unique ability to help you there where
- 57:12[SPEAKER_03]: either Isaiah Bond wasn't maybe ready to step into those roles or the Browns didn't feel like he could, whether it was the design.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_03]: Touches, the runs, whatever, the design plays for a guy that skillset, all the sudden he's out, if you scratch those plays, like that's a huge blow to your offense, a huge blow, especially when you prepare all week for it.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_03]: So, I don't wanna put too much stock into the offensive game plan against the jets, especially when you realize,
- 57:42[SPEAKER_03]: the guy you're literally game-planning touches for.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_03]: If I look at the Browns roster and I'm thinking, who can I physically game-plan touches for?
- 57:49[SPEAKER_03]: Casey, Casey, you can set your own as number one, because Denzel Boston, you're going to take what you get with them whenever they give you one on one coverage on the outside, but that's just taken out of the game right away.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_03]: That is a huge thing, but in terms of the depth, I'm still kind of where I'm at.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it's
- 58:04[SPEAKER_03]: That that's such a unique skill set and same with Denzel Boss and being such a big body guy like I don't know if any player on the Browns can make that touchdown catch that he did against the jets it's their skill sets their unique abilities to do different things losing that in a game that is what scares me and I think the drops obviously were present even do you I believe you did a drop on the sideline like the drops were present but it's more the skill set that I just don't know if they have the exact builds to to fill those shoes.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_05]: It seemed like we were making mistakes down.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_05]: Well, we did make mistakes down the stretch once again.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_05]: What do you evaluate Todd Monk and how did he do yesterday in your mind?
- 58:41[SPEAKER_03]: See, it's tough.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_03]: You want, like, look at offense of production, look at all of that.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to like sit here and make excuses.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_03]: But flat out 12 points, like even in a rain game, like that, it's not, it's not going to get it done.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_03]: It could of if the game was four minutes shorter.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_03]: But then I think back, like, the guy again, you want to game plan the most touches for out of the game in the first half.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_03]: I may have even been the first one, first half, right?
- 59:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's out the window.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_03]: Then all of a sudden,
- 59:06[SPEAKER_03]: Your online isn't picking up licks is your right tackle is ruled out of the game.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_03]: You ought to put in your back up right tackle like you obviously have to get the most out of your players.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think really anybody on the Browns.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_03]: I shouldn't say that but the the Browns didn't get the most out of their offensive unit.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_03]: That was very clear.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_03]: I think they were more blows that went against them than they probably expected, but at the end of the day, that's the name of the game.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I was looking average third-down yardage needed to convert for the Browns was over nine yards.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you're never going to have offensive success.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_03]: Whoever your play collar is, whoever's playing right tackle, whoever your receivers are, if the defense can just pin their ears back and go get you every single time it's third down.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_03]: That was really difficult for me.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_03]: a good amount of blame goes to monkey and maybe the plan but I do think the plan was kind of altered and I think that's worth acknowledging.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_02]: Max, I asked this question to Hanford earlier and I want to see how similar or different your answer is to his was yesterday a good football team who dropped one as good football team sometimes due to an inferior opponent by a bad fashion obviously or was it maybe the start of the crack showing or a chance it's fools golden Cleveland.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_03]: I think I'm going to keep this same energy I kind of have been the first month like good football teams win games like that they do and the Browns didn't right they didn't want to get I don't know if I could confidently look at the Browns be like yeah that's a good football team right now I could say that's in above average football team absolutely.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_03]: I think the defense has been playing unbelievable and they did that yesterday without amazing grant.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_03]: So I think you can look at that and be like, yeah, you know, there are signs of life.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_03]: I think a good football team like one of the seven best teams in the AFC, a playoff team.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if I could say that, especially after that game.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_03]: I do think, you know, good football teams don't
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_03]: You don't put the ball back actually ball slip through core work was hands, but like after a big turnover with four minutes left in the game a good football team doesn't go three and out in like eight seconds or whatever it was and then fumble the ball and then give a touchdown three plays later.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_03]: Like that's not what good football teams do, but it doesn't mean the Browns can't get back to that with a huge win against a division rival the next week like they are.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_03]: above average, and I think three and two above average, almost by default, win percentage above average.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_03]: I think it is a very fair representation of this team because defensively, they have exceeded expectations.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_03]: Offensively, I think they have two.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think there was a ton of off-season hype, maybe there was some about the rookies, but I think it's in above average football.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe not a good football team.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_03]: It's above average, don't for sure.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_03]: And I confidently say that even after that game.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_05]: So let's spin it forward.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_05]: We've got the Ravens this week.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_05]: What is your scouting report?
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_05]: Say for the Browns versus the Ravens?
- 1:01:46[SPEAKER_03]: Gosh, it is.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not going to say it's a match up nightmare because I do think the Browns defense has a lot of talent and can come back some really good teams.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_03]: But I think the Ravens match up really well on the offensive side of the ball.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_03]: Like the Browns have shown a ton of susceptibility between the hashes, like Roman Wilson had the big game parker, Washington, had the big game.
- 1:02:08[SPEAKER_03]: the tip of the spear is they flowers in Baltimore and he's going to be all over the place but primarily in the slot.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_03]: Doesn't matter who is on the other side stopping the run.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_03]: The Ravens just played the best run defense in the NFL last night and Derek Henry looked incredible.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_03]: That is always going to be a part of it.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_03]: And I think Lamar Jackson's going to play, but even if he doesn't, it's clear to see offensively, you can at least
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_03]: keep up and score.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_03]: They wound up scoring 30, but 20 plus in regulation, it's going to be a tough game.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_03]: And I think defensively, if Trey Hendrickson is back and nomad him out of BKs, continuing to improve how often he's playing his snap count, that's a tough matchup for the Browns, especially in the front seven.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't think Baltimore's a team you want to get behind the chains again.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_03]: So it is a tough, tough matchup, especially if Carson's questions are doesn't play.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's another thing that is kind of out there.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_03]: That's a potential in Missing Graham.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_03]: Sounds like
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_03]: A lot is going against the Browns right now, but a lot has been going against the Browns really all season.
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_03]: They're sitting here three and two.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_03]: It's not like I don't feel confident in the home environment against the division rival.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_03]: We already know the uni loss can be rocking that Sunday.
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_03]: I feel decently confident about the game, but I don't love the matchups the Ravens are going to be able to exploit, I think.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_02]: So kind of keeping it going on that exact same note, Max.
- 1:03:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like if there's one specific problem you could point out from yesterday that you're like, yeah, I think that might be a thing that Rears and Suggly had.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe not even just next week, just next couple of weeks.
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_03]: Well, would you say that is, it's probably the align to be honest with you.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_03]: Like, obviously next week you get Baltimore.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously there's a tight is Howard injury.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_03]: There's questions along the offensive line, at least so far this season.
- 1:03:49[SPEAKER_03]: Baltimore is not going to give you any break with that.
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_03]: And then when you get to Tennessee, let the one right-ish spot on that team is the D-line.
- 1:03:56[SPEAKER_03]: So it's a tougher matchup for the O-line the next couple of weeks.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_03]: I think Baltimore obviously presents a ton of problems, and I think it's Tennessee after Baltimore, correct?
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_02]: In Tennessee.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_02]: On the road.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_03]: Offensively.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to jinx anything.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_03]: I think the Browns are going to be OK against Titans offense.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_03]: But.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_03]: I think Baltimore is going to provide a lot of problems in the front seven.
- 1:04:18[SPEAKER_03]: Jesse Menter's defense can do a lot of different things and kind of mold like a chameleon to what the Browns are or set.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_03]: And I think Tennessee with Jeffrey Simmons and those guys on on the outside, the edges against Cleveland.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_03]: Like I think that could rear its ugly head to it.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think the Titans are by any means a trap game.
- 1:04:34[SPEAKER_03]: Like I think the Browns could walk in there and when that game for sure, but Baltimore is going to tough one.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_03]: And I think if there's an advantage that a team is going to have against the Browns moving forward across the next two weeks, like everything the same, it's probably
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_03]: along the align right now.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_05]: Not only that.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_05]: And after the Tennessee Titans, then you go to Pittsburgh and you got the Steelers and they're a little bit pissed off right now.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure losing us on Thursday night, right?
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_03]: That'll, that'll, that'll be a tough one too.
- 1:04:58[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, he said at Pittsburgh and Aaron Rodgers playing unbelievable, they want to get too far.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_03]: But this is a big, big, big, big game against Baltimore, especially the visual games where our count as a game in half, basically.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_03]: So I, I think
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_05]: How about the special teams?
- 1:05:13[SPEAKER_05]: We saw a missed extra point yesterday.
- 1:05:15[SPEAKER_05]: We also, of course, had the punt, the snap go over the punner's head and go through his hands, where we at with special teams, they've been pretty good up until yesterday, but then we have a couple of key mistakes there and miscuse, where do you come out on that?
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like we've got to give a little more grace to the rain and the conditions like that is not an easy place to operate special teams and by any means now it's not to make excuses like you still do have to operate you can't miss an extra point and you can't flat out, you know, let a pun go through your hands even if it was a little bit of a high snap.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_03]: But at the same time, you know, you don't necessarily fully lose the game on two plays.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_03]: It's the two most impactful plays for sure that drops snap, but also the run three plays later.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, if the Browns tackled up on Braille and Allen's touchdown run a couple plays after the the miss snap, maybe it's a different conversation.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, the Browns didn't get into field low range, but maybe you do things differently, knowing you just have to get into field low range.
- 1:06:12[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe the jets play defensively, who knows?
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of variables with that.
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_03]: And like you said, it's been good to start the year.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_03]: I am not wildly worried about it.
- 1:06:21[SPEAKER_03]: We also, it's also worth noting like Andre Schmidt, how do you respond after the Bengals game week one last year?
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_03]: He's been exceptional for over a calendar year at this point.
- 1:06:29[SPEAKER_03]: So I trust his ability to respond.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_03]: Core of work was made of the best player on the Cleveland Browns past three years or whatever.
- 1:06:35[SPEAKER_03]: It may be like, I trust their ability to respond for sure.
- 1:06:39[SPEAKER_02]: Max last question for you from my side, at least not sure if Chris is anything else for you.
- 1:06:45[SPEAKER_02]: What criticism of the Sean Watson today is fair and what's a bit too simplistic or having people reach?
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's a tough question.
- 1:06:57[SPEAKER_03]: I think the criticism that's fair is
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_03]: Mist throws like with some type of backing like if we're going to look at the 15 for 33 number for example right like yes to Sean Watson miss some throws I don't think that tells the full truth like their chunk plays over the middle of the field there were plays that he was able to extend with his legs now I do think that fourth down where it was a fourth and whatever it is 11 at the end of the game like that yes that that should have been different I think you can critique there I think you can critique the mist rose but I think strictly looking.
- 1:07:29[SPEAKER_03]: at the box course and it wasn't even 160 yards against the New York Jets or it was less than 50% completion.
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_03]: I think it begs a little to add a little substance substance to it because three four plays left on the table that were not at the hands of the Sean Watson in terms of blame really could have very well changed those numbers.
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_03]: So I do think that's fair but at the same time
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody should sit here and be like, Oh, to Sean Watson didn't throw a pick that that's something to build off like he had an interception that was dropped like I think there's some substance to those numbers on either side.
- 1:08:02[SPEAKER_03]: So basically, I don't think it's fair to just screenshot the 15 for 33155 and say, yeah, this was one thing or another.
- 1:08:09[SPEAKER_03]: I think you got out of a little substance to what actually happened in the game.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_02]: Max, actual last last question for you.
- 1:08:16[SPEAKER_02]: I lied about that when I apologize.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_02]: Like to have full transparency on the program if possible.
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate that.
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_02]: How much money did you pay the Washington Commanders' offense to blow that game last night?
- 1:08:25[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man, dude.
- 1:08:26[SPEAKER_03]: I, like, I couldn't believe that.
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_03]: That actually is the worst situation of football I've seen.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know, a long time.
- 1:08:35[SPEAKER_03]: There was a, there was a play like a decade.
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, a decade ago where
- 1:08:41[SPEAKER_03]: It was Kirk Cousins, it was washing against the eagles instead of spiking the ball at the end of the half took a knee in the clock ran down.
- 1:08:48[SPEAKER_03]: But that was at the end of the first half.
- 1:08:50[SPEAKER_03]: That was not in overtime.
- 1:08:52[SPEAKER_03]: And I think the worst part of that that nobody's really talking about.
- 1:08:56[SPEAKER_03]: The giants obviously gave them that opportunity with the CamScatibu Fumble getting chords with the whole line.
- 1:09:02[SPEAKER_03]: You would think they learned like you don't need to run extra plays getting closer to the whole line.
- 1:09:06[SPEAKER_03]: We just watched the giants trying to run extra plays and they fumble.
- 1:09:09[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't know why the commanders were physically running extra plays.
- 1:09:14[SPEAKER_03]: And I also do think like their cave on typo, it was supposed to be quote unquote a pass outside like cave on typo jumps into that throwing window.
- 1:09:20[SPEAKER_03]: So Jane Daniels like can't make that pass.
- 1:09:22[SPEAKER_03]: Still got thrown in the dirt, but like it was bad.
- 1:09:25[SPEAKER_03]: And I was sitting on my couch watching and I'm like, oh, they're gonna spike the ball.
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_03]: Like I get why they're running it down whatever they're gonna spike the ball.
- 1:09:31[SPEAKER_03]: And then I saw that they didn't.
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, oh my gosh, they better get down quick and then they didn't get down close.
- 1:09:40[SPEAKER_03]: And it's weird.
- 1:09:41[SPEAKER_03]: It feels like a win for the Giants even though it's a tie.
- 1:09:44[SPEAKER_03]: Max, thank you so much for joining us as always.
- 1:09:47[SPEAKER_02]: We appreciate your brother.
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you guys.
- 1:09:49[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks, Max.
- 1:09:50[SPEAKER_02]: Chris, let's talk a little bit more about the guards before we get on out of here.
- 1:09:54[SPEAKER_02]: Just one prediction.
- 1:09:55[SPEAKER_05]: We talked more about the Browns.
- 1:09:56[SPEAKER_05]: I was such a beautiful game yesterday.
- 1:09:58[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I'm so glad to do it.
- 1:09:58[SPEAKER_05]: Immediately just pivot right back to the Brown.
- 1:10:01[SPEAKER_02]: Chris, one doesn't even be a score prediction.
- 1:10:04[SPEAKER_05]: Just one unique prediction for me on these score predictions.
- 1:10:07[SPEAKER_05]: You know that.
- 1:10:08[SPEAKER_05]: I just have all these baseball gods right now just looking down on me.
- 1:10:12[SPEAKER_05]: I can feel the eyes right now.
- 1:10:13[SPEAKER_05]: Just say something, say something, I know it'll jinx my team.
- 1:10:16[SPEAKER_05]: So I do not want to do that.
- 1:10:18[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to avoid that.
- 1:10:19[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to avoid every single score prediction.
- 1:10:21[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to avoid everything that I can.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_05]: in order not to jinx this guardian's team.
- 1:10:26[SPEAKER_05]: So you can keep trying.
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_05]: But all right.
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to give you an emotional low home run.
- 1:10:30[SPEAKER_02]: That's going to happen tonight.
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to show how about that.
- 1:10:33[SPEAKER_02]: Make sure to like, comment, and subscribe here on the Big Play Cleveland, you too.
- 1:10:36[SPEAKER_02]: We'll be back tomorrow 12 to 130 every weekday talking guards game two and brownies tomorrow.
