- 0:01SPEAKER_01: What are you doing?
- 0:03SPEAKER_01: I'm getting ready to do chores.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: Chores.
- 0:08SPEAKER_01: Chores.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Saturday chores.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Are they like Saturday chores?
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: Well, when you're my age, they're just chores.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: They don't necessarily are they don't necessarily fall under the uh fall under the um see here's that here's No see here's the thing.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: I want to talk to you about that.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: Yes, because mild cognitive disorder, you call it I think a mild cognitive mild cognitive um impairment, but we've decided, um my brother-in-law and I and and sister-in-law have decided that you can just say mild cognitive anything after that.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: So mild cognitive disruption, mild cognitive disarray, mild cognitive, like add any word to the third word, and you can call it that.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, I like that.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, right?
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: Mild cognitive.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: I can think of a lot of new stuff that I have.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: Mild cognitive um confusion, you know.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: Just add the just mild cognitive fill in the blank.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: But it but it but it's kind of normal with age, right?
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: I mean, that kind of happens with age.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Uh it's just a it's age-related to some degree.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: Well, maybe, but but my particular situation, which is not finding words, which is something that Bruce Willis, you know, is suffering from right now, which is frontal temporal um dyslexia.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: No, frontal temporal uh um dementia.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: See, I couldn't even come up with their when you can't even come up with the word dementia, it means you have it.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: What I think.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Well, you do you think it's a precursor to dementia?
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: My dad, my my grandfather died of Parkinson's.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: Um I it I don't know.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: I don't know if Parkinson's is is um genetic or hereditary or I'm I'm going to get checked for that.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: I'm going to talk to a neurologist about to see if I have Parkinson's, I think, next month.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Well, tell me what these says.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Like, tell me what I'm I'm very curious.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm I have a tremor.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: And so they're gonna test to make I guess they would test to see that it's not Parkinson's.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: Did that tremor pop up from something else?
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Like, or just one day you woke up and you had you had tremors.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: No, no, it it it it's uh I it's in the family, so my dad's side of the family, they all have tremors.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: And uh they all they all take medicine and you can get it under control, right?
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: But but theirs is like really bad, and uh like hospital studies, you know, go put stuff in your brain kind of bad.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: But I don't know if it's that or uh medication that I take, which could also cause tremors, right?
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: Well, I don't know, you know.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Um it's gonna be interesting, I guess.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: For the scientists who are using this as part of their studying, I don't know what year this is right now.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: I'm talking to you.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Um, do are are cars, do cars fly?
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: I wonder if cars are flying at this point, because this is a study that'll be like 50 years from now.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: But they won't be called cars, they'll be more like drones, you know.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't know.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm just wondering.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, I think that the the f flying cars, quote unquote, of of today are just the drones of tomorrow.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: I wonder if people have jobs.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: Or if it's gonna be that un universal job.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: There's always people with jobs.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: No, but there's always jobs.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: There's there's they're talking about you know getting ri rid of jobs and just having a universal, like everyone just gets paid a uh you've heard of this thing, right?
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Universal you haven't heard of income?
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you yeah, I've heard universal basic income.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there you go.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: And so But that doesn't mean you can't have a job, that just means that you get money and then you can have the job or not have not have a job.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: Yes, right, right.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: You don't have to have a job, right?
- 4:35unknown: Right.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: How many, how many, what percentage of the population do you think would continue to have a job?
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: Because they don't want to live on that little bit of money, or because I wonder if you would call it I well, I guess there's two there's subsets of all of this.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: How many people would just do that and nothing else?
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: How many people would have 10%?
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Okay, how many I mean according to the amount, right?
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: And what I see, nothing, I'm not saying they do, you know, they they just have their lives, or how many people would do that and have a hobby, like a like a that takes a lot of their time, or and or how many people would have that and have, like you said, just a totally second job or third job or whatever.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: I wonder.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: But this is all, you know, the scientists that are listening to this, they'll they'll they'll know that.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: Maybe well, here's funny.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Here's the funny thing.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: Maybe those scientists aren't doing this for a job.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: Maybe the scientists are doing this for a hobby that are studying these talks that you and I have.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, do you know scientists now?
- 5:47unknown: Huh?
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: No, I uh any.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: I know a scientist.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: Actually, I guess I do know some scientists, yes.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: My my brother-in-law's gonna cure cancer.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: So he's so he's probably not gonna be trying to like figure out the what you have.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: He's not gonna be tracking my mild cognitive mild cognitive impairment impairment dysfunction.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Whatever you want, whatever it is.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: What'd you do today?
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Well, that's a good question.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: I have been working in the yard mostly, like me.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: And uh yeah, I've been watering.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: We we we need rain really bad here, yeah.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: So I had to water a lot of things, yeah.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then I uh worked on irrigation lines, yeah, yeah.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Well, because uh that just makes sure all the irrigation's running as it should have gets clogged up with iron.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well my mine gets clogged up with calcium.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: You know, Caroline says you're just having manopause.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: I used to nanopause.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, I know that.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: I didn't even know what that was, man.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, no, it's it's a thing.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: But that's kind of when you're 50.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: Where I'm past that now.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: All right, gotta wrap it up.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Here we go.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Oh, well, okay.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: So yeah, next time we're gonna talk about something you won't believe.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: What?
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: What is it?
