AI product launch: Alibaba Cloud moves into Europe

On 23 September 2026, at the Apsara Conference in Hangzhou, Alibaba Cloud announced three new data centres (the Netherlands in October, then Turkey and Finland within twelve months) and additional capacity in Germany, France, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong. The «full stack» offering, with chips, infrastructure and multimodal models inside a single contract, gives European boards a third sovereignty option alongside the American hyperscalers and Mistral. It changes the negotiating power on 2027 cloud renewals.
