Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about Sorority Life, with
• 0:04
Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia Judice.
• 0:06
Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler.
• 0:12
Speaker 3: I'm Daisy and I'm jen and this is Dirty Rush.
• 0:15
  Speaker 1: Hi.
• 0:15
Speaker 2: Guys, we're back. We are that, and today we are
• 0:18
Speaker 2: talking about a new phenomenon and it is called the
• 0:23
Speaker 2: rush coach. I paid for both my kids for college advisors. Yeah,
• 0:28
Speaker 2: and that was expensive. I'm picturing my daughter coming to
• 0:32
Speaker 2: me and saying, Mommy, I need a Rush coach. I
• 0:35
Speaker 2: think my response would be the Patty here Rachel nuts.
• 0:41
Speaker 2: So you're going to buy the clothes you have, you
• 0:43
Speaker 2: gotta get the tips, you gotta get the hair whatever,
• 0:46
Speaker 2: and now I should buy a separate human who's going
• 0:49
Speaker 2: to coach you through the process.
• 0:51
Speaker 3: I'm like, what do they coach you on? Like, but
• 0:54
Speaker 3: to talk about like what to wear, who to be,
• 0:56
Speaker 3: how to do your hair?
• 0:58
Speaker 2: Yes, I think so. Yeah.
• 0:59
Speaker 3: I feel like it's almost like making you like somebody
• 1:01
Speaker 3: that you're not. But I could be wrong. I mean,
• 1:03
Speaker 3: I guess we'll have to talk to them.
• 1:05
Speaker 2: Yes, I mean, at least maybe it's just bringing out
• 1:08
Speaker 2: the best version of yourself.
• 1:10
Speaker 4: Hi, Laurie, Hi, how are you we're.
• 1:14
  Speaker 1: Very well and I'm I'm Daisy. Yeah, it's a pleasure
• 1:18
Speaker 1: to meet you. And you are a rush coach. I'm
• 1:21
Speaker 1: a rush You want to know all about that rush us.
• 1:26
Speaker 4: That's perfectly okay. I am the first person to coin
• 1:30
Speaker 4: and use that term. So I'm very very proud of
• 1:34
Speaker 4: my work that I have done over the last thirteen years.
• 1:37
Speaker 2: Are you the first person to do this?
• 1:39
Speaker 4: I'm not the first person to do this, but I
• 1:42
Speaker 4: am the first person to bring this to light and
• 1:46
Speaker 4: not make it very like hush hush, we don't talk
• 1:49
  Speaker 4: about this.
• 1:51
Speaker 3: Yeah, which I love that because honestly, i'm kind of
• 1:55
Speaker 3: I'm sorry, I'm confused on what like it exactly? Is
• 1:59
Speaker 3: like do you essentially do to help these girls, like
• 2:02
Speaker 3: get in a sorority or go through recruitment? Yeah?
• 2:06
Speaker 2: Yeah, and well how about first tell us where did
• 2:08
Speaker 2: you go to school? And I'm assuming you were in
• 2:11
  Speaker 2: a sorority.
• 2:12
  Speaker 4: I was a big sorority girl. I am a KA
• 2:17
Speaker 4: from the University of Texas and Olpaso, and I have
• 2:22
Speaker 4: always been involved in my sorority, whether it was well,
• 2:26
Speaker 4: we don't call it this anymore, but pledge educator. I
• 2:30
Speaker 4: was also chapter president. I had also been involved in
• 2:37
Speaker 4: the alumni association in Chicago here in New York City,
• 2:41
Speaker 4: and I was also the recruitment advisor for one of
• 2:45
Speaker 4: the chapters in Chicago as well.
• 2:48
Speaker 3: So very involved. Yes, extremely Okay, we are talking to
• 2:52
Speaker 3: the perfect person about that went to cential sorority girl.
• 2:54
Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, tell us, just give us an overview, tell
• 2:57
Speaker 2: us what you do.
• 2:57
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 2:58
Speaker 4: So, as a sororitysultant, I am here to just really
• 3:03
Speaker 4: help a lot of young women experience a positive, you know,
• 3:09
Speaker 4: coming of age kind of moment for a lot of
• 3:12
Speaker 4: these women. They're stepping out from being like this high
• 3:15
Speaker 4: school girl and stepping into their first taste of you know,
• 3:19
Speaker 4: becoming a woman and going to college and figuring life
• 3:22
Speaker 4: out on their own. And I'm here to provide a
• 3:25
Speaker 4: positive experience for them. But along the way, I'm teaching
• 3:29
Speaker 4: them some lessons. So a lot of things. My background
• 3:33
Speaker 4: is in human resources. I've worked for major companies such
• 3:37
Speaker 4: as this, Discovery Channel, Autism Speaks, the Adler Planetarium in Chicago,
• 3:42
Speaker 4: and really helping with blending my expertise in human resources
• 3:47
Speaker 4: and sorority life and just have blended those two together
• 3:50
Speaker 4: to help them prepare for the chaos that is sorority rush.
• 3:56
Speaker 2: What made you think that this was something that you
• 3:59
Speaker 2: wanted to do? Was there an aha moment where you
• 4:02
Speaker 2: thought girls need me or had you heard about it?
• 4:06
Speaker 2: How did you get here? Yeah?
• 4:09
Speaker 4: So, when I was one of the recruitment advisors at
• 4:12
Speaker 4: DePaul University in Chicago for the Cayamega chapter, I was
• 4:17
Speaker 4: super involved and just noticed that the playing field wasn't
• 4:22
Speaker 4: that even when it came to the sororities and the
• 4:25
Speaker 4: potential new members, the girls wanting to join the sororities,
• 4:29
Speaker 4: and I noticed that the sororities had a little bit
• 4:32
Speaker 4: of an upper hand. And when I went through recruitment
• 4:35
Speaker 4: in the nineties, it was completely different. I mean the
• 4:39
Speaker 4: game is, especially with social media involved. It has changed
• 4:42
Speaker 4: the narrative completely. And a lot of my girlfriends from
• 4:46
Speaker 4: back home in Texas would call me and say, I
• 4:48
Speaker 4: know you're still involved, can you help me my niece,
• 4:51
Speaker 4: my stepdaughter, someone is going through recruitment and I need
• 4:53
Speaker 4: your help. And I would just be on the phone
• 4:55
Speaker 4: for hours explaining how everything works now, how things are different,
• 4:59
Speaker 4: this is what they need to do. And my husband
• 5:02
Speaker 4: at the time was not in a fraternity or anything.
• 5:05
Speaker 4: And he just did not understand any of this, and
• 5:08
Speaker 4: he said, what are you doing? Like what is this?
• 5:11
  Speaker 4: I don't get it. I don't understand it. And I
• 5:14
Speaker 4: would explain it to him and he was like, you
• 5:16
Speaker 4: should start a business. You're giving away free advice. And
• 5:20
Speaker 4: I was like, huh, I actually never thought about that.
• 5:23
Speaker 4: And I did a quick Google search and I saw
• 5:26
Speaker 4: that there were two other people that had a website.
• 5:29
Speaker 4: One was for this woman in Alabama and blessed her heart.
• 5:33
Speaker 4: Her website was a little frumpy. It looked like a
• 5:35
Speaker 4: little church bulletin. And the other woman, you know, like
• 5:39
Speaker 4: I looked at her website and I was like, I
• 5:41
Speaker 4: could do that, Like this looks really easy. And I
• 5:44
Speaker 4: just put together a website and I had my first
• 5:47
Speaker 4: client in twenty thirteen. She was a girl from the
• 5:52
Speaker 4: Saint Louis area. She was going to school at Texas
• 5:54
Speaker 4: Christian in Fort Worth, which has a big Greek life,
• 5:58
Speaker 4: and she actually just got married two weeks ago.
• 6:01
Speaker 2: So very nice. So I'm curious. We're actually curious about
• 6:09
Speaker 2: so much of what you do. But how many clients
• 6:13
  Speaker 2: do you have?
• 6:14
  Speaker 4: Now?
• 6:14
Speaker 2: Let me ask you that.
• 6:16
Speaker 4: Right now, at this very second, I'm helping thirty young
• 6:20
Speaker 4: women go through recruitment and is.
• 6:22
Speaker 3: This your full time job?
• 6:24
Speaker 2: It is? Now okay, yeah, yeah, I amen. Wow, Well
• 6:29
Speaker 2: we're going to get invasive or we're going to try
• 6:31
Speaker 2: to But what do you charge for your services?
• 6:35
Speaker 4: So I charge usually anywhere between fifteen hundred and three thousand,
• 6:42
Speaker 4: depending on the level of services that the girls need.
• 6:46
Speaker 4: I also have colleagues I've hired on coaches to help
• 6:50
Speaker 4: out at other universities because I can't be everywhere all
• 6:54
Speaker 4: at once. And then they have their own fee structure
• 6:58
Speaker 4: just because they're a little bit newer to the game.
• 7:00
Speaker 4: They are priced at a little bit of a lower
• 7:02
Speaker 4: rate just because I've been doing this for so long.
• 7:07
Speaker 4: And then you can also pay to have me on
• 7:09
Speaker 4: call during recruitment, which is another added fee along with that.
• 7:13
Speaker 3: So how long do you typically have these girls as
• 7:30
Speaker 3: it just like from right before when they start recruitment
• 7:33
Speaker 3: until the end or what's like the timeline you're with them.
• 7:36
Speaker 4: So usually I will start working with the girls. Usually
• 7:39
Speaker 4: the parents will contact me or sometimes the daughters will
• 7:42
Speaker 4: contact me in their senior year of high school, and
• 7:46
Speaker 4: I start working with them probably in about the springtime,
• 7:49
Speaker 4: so March right before they graduate high school, and then
• 7:54
Speaker 4: we work all the way up until pretty much right now,
• 7:56
Speaker 4: because recruitment at a lot of these schools starts in
• 7:59
Speaker 4: less than two weeks.
• 8:01
Speaker 2: Wow. Yeah. Do you find ever that there are girls
• 8:05
Speaker 2: that you turn down that you think you're not really
• 8:08
Speaker 2: a sorority girl necessarily, or this is going to be
• 8:10
Speaker 2: an uphill battle for you, or do you have to
• 8:13
  Speaker 2: set expectations.
• 8:16
Speaker 4: I believe that everyone could be a sobrority girl. I
• 8:18
Speaker 4: don't feel that we are meant to be boxed into
• 8:21
Speaker 4: one specific thing. I feel like, if you are the
• 8:25
Speaker 4: girl that loves Star Wars and a biochemical engineer major
• 8:30
Speaker 4: and that's your jam, you can be in a sorority.
• 8:32
Speaker 4: If you're an emo goth girl and you listen to
• 8:35
Speaker 4: the Cure all the time, like you could be in
• 8:37
Speaker 4: a sorority, you will find your place. But yes, I've
• 8:40
Speaker 4: had to turn down clients not based on the fact
• 8:43
  Speaker 4: that I don't think that they'll fit into a sorority,
• 8:45
Speaker 4: but because of just personality differences. Like I've seen girls
• 8:50
Speaker 4: be rude to their mothers on phone calls and I'm like, no,
• 8:54
Speaker 4: not taken that on. I've seen girls who try to
• 9:00
Speaker 4: like I don't know, Like it's like this weird thing
• 9:03
Speaker 4: where girls think that they can like use me for
• 9:06
Speaker 4: some things, but then go behind my back and try
• 9:08
Speaker 4: to do things their own way. And when I find
• 9:10
Speaker 4: out about it, and I do, because I have lots
• 9:12
Speaker 4: of little eyes and ears out there in the community,
• 9:15
Speaker 4: I do find out about it. And then that's when
• 9:17
Speaker 4: I say, you know what, I think we have to
• 9:18
  Speaker 4: cut ties?
• 9:19
Speaker 2: Can you can you give us an example of that?
• 9:21
  Speaker 1: Yeah?
• 9:21
Speaker 2: Like what do they like?
• 9:23
Speaker 3: Is there like a specific example you have where someone
• 9:25
  Speaker 3: did that.
• 9:27
Speaker 4: Like for when they try to go behind my back?
• 9:29
  Speaker 2: Yeah?
• 9:30
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, and you know what the crazy thing is,
• 9:33
  Speaker 4: it's usually the.
• 9:34
Speaker 3: Mom's Honestly, I kind of feel like that makes sense
• 9:38
  Speaker 3: to me.
• 9:39
Speaker 4: Yeah, And sometimes it's the mom and daughter that team
• 9:41
Speaker 4: up and do this kind of thing, you know. But honestly,
• 9:44
Speaker 4: like I had just recently a mom who reached out
• 9:48
Speaker 4: to me asking for Hey, you know, and this happens
• 9:53
Speaker 4: all the time, Like do you have references of people
• 9:55
Speaker 4: who have used your services before? I'd love to talk
• 9:57
Speaker 4: to them. And I said sure, and I gave her
• 10:00
Speaker 4: a few names with emails, and one of them happened
• 10:04
Speaker 4: to be an older girl who's getting ready to graduate
• 10:06
Speaker 4: from college. And the girl was super nice. Said I
• 10:11
Speaker 4: loved working with LORI. She was amazing. I got into
• 10:14
Speaker 4: my top house. Working with her was a great experience.
• 10:18
Speaker 4: And then it turns out this girl was just really
• 10:22
Speaker 4: messaging her a lot, to the point where my former
• 10:26
Speaker 4: client got super uncomfortable. And then it comes to find
• 10:30
Speaker 4: out that it wasn't the daughter, it was the mother
• 10:33
Speaker 4: that was messaging her over the text message. Came to
• 10:38
Speaker 4: find out about it, and it was just not a
• 10:39
Speaker 4: good look, and it put me in a bad spot,
• 10:42
  Speaker 4: to be.
• 10:42
Speaker 3: Honest, Yeah, definitely got it.
• 10:45
Speaker 2: Go ahead, Okay, See.
• 10:47
Speaker 3: I am curious if I'm a girl finishing high school
• 10:51
Speaker 3: and I call you or my mom calls you, and
• 10:55
Speaker 3: I need your help getting into my top hout. I
• 10:58
Speaker 3: was in alpha fe So say I wanted to get
• 11:00
Speaker 3: in like alpha fie. What would you do to like
• 11:04
Speaker 3: help me? Like, what are the steps? What do you
• 11:06
Speaker 3: what do you do to help them?
• 11:08
Speaker 4: Well, first of all, I would say not to sell
• 11:12
Speaker 4: yourself short by only looking at one sorority, because throughout
• 11:17
Speaker 4: this entire process, your mind is going to be going
• 11:20
Speaker 4: in so many different directions, and your mind is going
• 11:23
Speaker 4: to change throughout the entire process, and quite honestly, you
• 11:27
Speaker 4: haven't even met these girls yet. You don't know who
• 11:30
Speaker 4: they are. So you could get to the Alpha Fie
• 11:33
Speaker 4: house and meet them and be like, oh, I don't know.
• 11:37
Speaker 4: I met these girls and they seem nice on Instagram,
• 11:39
Speaker 4: but now I've met them in person and they're just
• 11:41
  Speaker 4: not my vibe.
• 11:42
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 11:42
Speaker 4: So I think setting those expectations very early on and
• 11:46
Speaker 4: making them realistic about what they're going to be encountering
• 11:51
Speaker 4: is really really important in setting that relationship with the
• 11:54
Speaker 4: mother and daughter. My whole thing is that I'm not
• 11:58
Speaker 4: here to promise you are in sorority, because I don't
• 12:01
Speaker 4: believe in the world of this is a top sorority
• 12:04
Speaker 4: or a bottom sorority or anything like that. I think
• 12:06
Speaker 4: it's all relative and it's about your own experience. But
• 12:11
Speaker 4: I'm here to make sure that you have a positive
• 12:13
Speaker 4: experience in finding the right sisterhood for you. I don't
• 12:16
Speaker 4: want buyer's remorse at all.
• 12:19
Speaker 2: Yeah. No, that sounds smart because I'm guessing that a
• 12:22
Speaker 2: lot of the girls that hire you are looking to
• 12:25
Speaker 2: get into what's called now top tier sororities, and I'm curious,
• 12:32
Speaker 2: do you try to talk them out of that goal.
• 12:36
Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I just don't buy into that whole level,
• 12:39
Speaker 4: like this popularity thing. And to be quite honest, at
• 12:42
Speaker 4: a lot of schools, the people that deem these sororities
• 12:45
Speaker 4: as being top or bottom or whatever are the men.
• 12:48
Speaker 4: And I don't think that they have a role in
• 12:50
Speaker 4: saying who's top and who's bottom. And I do not
• 12:54
Speaker 4: talk them out of it, but I let them understand
• 12:57
Speaker 4: that they need to meet these girls firsthand in order
• 12:59
Speaker 4: to make that decision for themselves.
• 13:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds definitely smart. You mentioned Instagram. I'm curious,
• 13:06
Speaker 2: do you go through the girls and their Instagram and
• 13:09
Speaker 2: have them scrub what is not working or what is
• 13:13
Speaker 2: not going to work?
• 13:14
Speaker 4: Oh my goodness, if you could only see what I
• 13:17
  Speaker 4: see sometimes.
• 13:19
Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I'm so intrigued.
• 13:22
Speaker 4: Oh my goodness. And you know, I always have to
• 13:24
Speaker 4: remember what I was thinking when I was eighteen years old.
• 13:29
Speaker 4: I was pretty insecure. I thought I was the ugliest
• 13:32
Speaker 4: girl in the world. I was just, you know, not
• 13:37
Speaker 4: like always positive thinking about myself. And I think a
• 13:40
Speaker 4: lot of times girls today still have that mentality where
• 13:44
Speaker 4: they just don't think highly of themselves and it's about
• 13:47
Speaker 4: the clicks, and it's about the likes. And if they
• 13:49
Speaker 4: take a hot bikini picture of themselves and it gets
• 13:52
Speaker 4: a ton of likes versus a really amazing picture that
• 13:56
Speaker 4: they drew for an art project, you know, I'm going
• 13:59
Speaker 4: to have to go in and tell them, like listen,
• 14:02
Speaker 4: I understand that this is kind of like what you're
• 14:04
Speaker 4: going for and everyone does this, but you don't need
• 14:08
Speaker 4: to be one note. You don't need to be one's
• 14:11
Speaker 4: like just one thing, like you want to see what
• 14:14
Speaker 4: your vibe is and if it's just bikini picks or
• 14:17
Speaker 4: if it's just you lip syncing to lyrics that aren't
• 14:22
Speaker 4: nice or pretty, then you know, first impressions go a
• 14:26
Speaker 4: long way and that's going to stick with you. So yeah,
• 14:29
Speaker 4: you really do have to go in and help girls scrub.
• 14:31
Speaker 4: And you know, sometimes I go through the comments and
• 14:36
Speaker 4: I see some things on there where I'm just like,
• 14:39
Speaker 4: how I would imagine their parents look at these contents
• 14:43
Speaker 4: and like some of them are not really nice or
• 14:46
Speaker 4: flattering or anything like that. But we go through everything.
• 14:48
Speaker 4: We go through their tagged pictures, their highlights, their their
• 14:53
Speaker 4: reposts on TikTok, Like I look through everything and I
• 14:57
Speaker 4: will to go through and say take this down, crop
• 15:00
Speaker 4: this out, change this picture, archive it. Like, I'm probably
• 15:04
Speaker 4: their worst nightmare when it comes to their social media.
• 15:07
Speaker 2: My question though, is, you know, I think it probably
• 15:11
Speaker 2: is important for a lot of the sororities. They're looking
• 15:14
Speaker 2: for what does this girl look like? Right? And let's
• 15:18
Speaker 2: just get real, they want their sorority to bring the
• 15:22
Speaker 2: boys in. I think that's just part of it. Not
• 15:24
Speaker 2: for every sorority, but I think for a lot of them.
• 15:27
Speaker 2: And I think that I'm picturing that these girls, if
• 15:31
Speaker 2: it weren't for you, would be, you know, showing their
• 15:34
Speaker 2: best selves physically. Yeah. And I don't know you you're
• 15:39
Speaker 2: the expert, but I would think that that's necessary. I
• 15:43
Speaker 2: don't know if you'd say to them, you need a
• 15:44
Speaker 2: prettier picture, you do need a picture in a bikini.
• 15:48
Speaker 2: Do you also give them that kind of advice?
• 15:51
Speaker 4: So I always tell them this. I'm like, if you're
• 15:53
Speaker 4: going on vacation and you're going to post a bikini,
• 15:55
Speaker 4: pick make sure that if you're going to carrossel your pictures,
• 16:00
Speaker 4: add in like a table pic of you and your
• 16:02
Speaker 4: family at dinner, Add in a picture of you and
• 16:04
Speaker 4: your sister, you know, taking that surf lesson or I
• 16:08
Speaker 4: know you and scupa diving with your mom, Like add
• 16:10
Speaker 4: in some of those pictures along with your bikini picks,
• 16:12
Speaker 4: like make it a little bit more versatile and you know,
• 16:16
Speaker 4: show like you have a little bit more depth to you.
• 16:19
Speaker 4: You know what I mean. Like I don't mind the
• 16:20
Speaker 4: bikini picks, I just don't want it to be your
• 16:22
Speaker 4: whole grid. Yeah, and you know, like I understand like
• 16:25
Speaker 4: having that like look can be important to some people,
• 16:29
Speaker 4: but it's not everything, got it.
• 16:31
  Speaker 3: I love that. I love that I didn't know what
• 16:33
Speaker 3: to expect, like coming into talking to you, because I
• 16:35
Speaker 3: honestly didn't know what uh sorority?
• 16:38
Speaker 2: What did you call it?
• 16:38
  Speaker 3: A sorority?
• 16:39
  Speaker 2: Insultant?
• 16:39
  Speaker 4: It's a consultant.
• 16:41
Speaker 3: Yeah, But I feel like you're like really helping them
• 16:43
Speaker 3: like be more themselves or like show more of who
• 16:47
Speaker 3: they are, which I really like that.
• 17:03
Speaker 2: I think I'm probably a little more skeptical and again
• 17:06
Speaker 2: not I'm sure. I'm curious if you get blowback from
• 17:11
Speaker 2: this position that you've taken on, because this is again
• 17:15
Speaker 2: it's also new for me, and I'm thinking about the
• 17:18
Speaker 2: fact that for each one of my kids, I paid
• 17:21
Speaker 2: for a college counselor. And I was saying to Daisy beforehand.
• 17:25
Speaker 2: If my daughter had said to me, Mom, I need
• 17:27
Speaker 2: a sorority coach, I would have told her that she's
• 17:31
Speaker 2: clearly lost her mind and she should find a second job.
• 17:36
Speaker 2: If that's something that she's interested in, I would never
• 17:38
Speaker 2: pay for it. Please don't think I'm trying to insult you.
• 17:40
Speaker 2: It's just you know where where I'm coming from. So
• 17:43
Speaker 2: I'm curious do you have to deal with that? Do
• 17:45
Speaker 2: you deal with a lot of, you know, criticism in
• 17:49
Speaker 2: terms of what you're doing. Oh?
• 17:50
Speaker 4: Absolutely, one thousand percent. And listen, I've worked with girls
• 17:55
Speaker 4: who are like, I'm paying for this on my own.
• 17:57
Speaker 4: My parents won't help me pay for that. And I
• 18:01
Speaker 4: remember I did work with a girl who was from
• 18:05
Speaker 4: the Northeast. She was coming from the East Coast, was
• 18:08
Speaker 4: going to school down in Alabama. Did not have a
• 18:11
Speaker 4: positive experience going through recruitment. She had nobody helping her,
• 18:16
Speaker 4: she did not know what she was doing and just
• 18:18
Speaker 4: had a horrible experience and in return just did not
• 18:23
Speaker 4: have a good freshman year. She ended up hiring me.
• 18:26
Speaker 4: I found out that she was working two jobs, and
• 18:29
Speaker 4: she took a job at Jay cruse so that she
• 18:31
Speaker 4: could use her discount to buy all her rush clothes.
• 18:33
Speaker 4: And then I found out that her father was very ill.
• 18:37
Speaker 4: And when I found all of this out, I was like,
• 18:41
Speaker 4: you don't need to pay me anymore. Like I want
• 18:44
Speaker 4: to do this for you because I personally experienced my
• 18:48
Speaker 4: father passing away when I was a senior in college,
• 18:51
Speaker 4: so he never got to see me graduate. And I
• 18:54
Speaker 4: wanted her to not have to stress about that money
• 18:58
Speaker 4: piece to it and have her enjoy her time with
• 19:01
Speaker 4: her father over the summer. And she got into her
• 19:05
Speaker 4: dream sorority after all of that. And there are people
• 19:08
Speaker 4: who are very critical, thinking like what I do is silly,
• 19:12
Speaker 4: or it's vapid, or it's unnecessary. But like I had
• 19:15
Speaker 4: mentioned before, I'm teaching them a lot of skills that
• 19:18
Speaker 4: they will use in college for internships, in leadership positions
• 19:23
Speaker 4: and their sorority and beyond. So it's putting together a resume, networking,
• 19:28
Speaker 4: putting themselves out there talking to women and asking for
• 19:32
Speaker 4: a letter of recommendation rather than just being like, mom,
• 19:35
Speaker 4: do it for me, Miss Stefanelli, can you do with
• 19:37
Speaker 4: this for me? And I'm like, no, you are eighteen
• 19:40
Speaker 4: years old. This is something that you need to learn
• 19:42
Speaker 4: to do. I'm going to give you all the tools
• 19:44
Speaker 4: and resources in order for you to be successful, but
• 19:47
Speaker 4: this is something that you need to learn to do.
• 19:49
Speaker 2: And what about when one of your clients doesn't get
• 19:52
Speaker 2: in to a sorority it happens.
• 19:54
Speaker 4: I'm not going to lie. I'm not a one hundred
• 19:56
Speaker 4: percent success rate. I have had girls that were unhappy
• 20:01
Speaker 4: with with what had happened. But I always have a plan.
• 20:05
Speaker 4: You know, we talk about what are our next steps.
• 20:08
  Speaker 4: Let's let's decompress. Let's take a step back, and I
• 20:12
Speaker 4: want you to just relax a little bit. I want
• 20:16
Speaker 4: them to just get out of that element for a
• 20:18
Speaker 4: little bit and out of that headspace. And then in
• 20:20
Speaker 4: a few days, let's come back. Let's look at everything.
• 20:23
Speaker 4: We got a game plan. Let's look at the sororities
• 20:27
Speaker 4: that you did enjoy. Okay, are you eligible for continuous
• 20:31
Speaker 4: open bidding? If not, can you rush next year? If so,
• 20:35
Speaker 4: what clubs can you join in your freshman year that
• 20:38
Speaker 4: you can network with sorority women that will help you
• 20:41
Speaker 4: get connected to them, Because that is what it's going
• 20:44
Speaker 4: to be about, is her connecting to these women in
• 20:46
Speaker 4: order to get herself into a sorority in that next year.
• 20:49
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 20:50
Speaker 3: I love the part you said about like helping them
• 20:52
Speaker 3: like gain skills for like their future. I think that's
• 20:55
  Speaker 3: so important.
• 20:57
Speaker 2: I think that's great as well. Yeah, what a pleasure
• 21:00
  Speaker 2: to me.
• 21:00
Speaker 3: Thank you so much for talking with us and congratulations.
• 21:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, you're an entrepreneur and to even have this idea
• 21:09
Speaker 2: that this is something that young women need that is
• 21:12
  Speaker 2: pretty creative.
• 21:13
Speaker 4: Thank you. I appreciate that very much.
• 21:15
Speaker 2: Thank you for coming on. Good left to your girls.
• 21:18
  Speaker 4: Thank you.
• 21:19
Speaker 2: Okay, bye bye? All right, miss Daisy. What'd you think?
• 21:23
  Speaker 2: I I don't know.
• 21:26
  Speaker 3: I'm like a little confused.
• 21:28
Speaker 2: I mean, looking back, so you didn't know anything about rushing?
• 21:30
Speaker 2: Would you have without have been helpful? Would you wanted
• 21:33
Speaker 2: to hire her? No?
• 21:35
Speaker 3: Like absolutely not. But I kind of think, I mean,
• 21:38
  Speaker 3: I'm sure it's I wonder if it's like the schools
• 21:41
Speaker 3: in the South that are like you do, like the
• 21:44
Speaker 3: girls think like this this is like my only like
• 21:46
Speaker 3: this is my life now getting in a sorority. But
• 21:48
  Speaker 3: I also think that's not Like I don't think girls
• 21:51
Speaker 3: should look at like this is going to be my life,
• 21:54
Speaker 3: Like my life is going to raise revolve around my sorority.
• 21:57
Speaker 3: For me, I think that's the wrong way to look
• 21:58
Speaker 3: at it, Like if you're not going to be in
• 22:00
Speaker 3: a sorority, that you're still going to be Okay.
• 22:03
Speaker 2: You go, girl, I'm with you there one hundred percent.
• 22:05
Speaker 3: What do you think?
• 22:06
  Speaker 2: Not for me?
• 22:07
Speaker 3: From like a mom's perspective too.
• 22:09
Speaker 2: Not for me. And I like a lot of what
• 22:12
Speaker 2: she said about, you know, coaching young girls and for
• 22:17
Speaker 2: the future and how to really speak with and your colleagues,
• 22:23
Speaker 2: and I love all of that. Not for me, I am.
• 22:28
Speaker 2: I am not her because she seemed lovely and I
• 22:31
Speaker 2: wish her lots of success. But the idea that you
• 22:36
Speaker 2: have to pay money to have someone help you be
• 22:42
Speaker 2: who you are or alter who you are right to
• 22:47
Speaker 2: become accepted and not only that, guess what I mean
• 22:52
Speaker 2: all of that that Let's say there's the rejection and
• 22:54
Speaker 2: you don't do well during rush, that's okay, Like it
• 22:58
Speaker 2: is okay part of life. Rejections part of life. This again,
• 23:03
  Speaker 2: I said, I paid for a college coach. I don't
• 23:06
Speaker 2: know how how worth it that was. Yeah, this would
• 23:09
Speaker 2: not have been on my dime. Yeah, but lovely woman, Yeah, Yeah,
• 23:14
Speaker 2: A lot of people are very grateful to her.
• 23:16
Speaker 3: Yeah for sure, right, yeah, And if they get in
• 23:18
Speaker 3: this sorority, they want.
• 23:19
Speaker 2: And if they don't, they want their money better.
• 23:21
Speaker 3: I know. I'm like, sure, you imagine, here's three thousand dollars,
• 23:27
Speaker 3: like she gotten a noble. That's a lot of money.
• 23:29
Speaker 2: That's a lot of money. I'm very open to the
• 23:32
Speaker 2: fact that a lot of girls are very grateful for
• 23:34
Speaker 2: her and that she makes the experience more seamless. Oh,
• 23:37
Speaker 2: for for sure. I am constitutionally opposed to everything about that.
• 23:43
Speaker 2: But listen, I'm a wrong a lot of the times.
• 23:45
  Speaker 3: Yeah,
