- 0:06Speaker 1: What's up, guys. Welcome to the Rogue Recap, and I
- 0:08Speaker 1: am super stoked today because I have my first ever guest.
- 0:12Speaker 1: He is super snarky. He's way snarkier than me, which
- 0:15Speaker 1: is part of the reason why we're such good friends,
- 0:17Speaker 1: right because people like me we need to find competition
- 0:21Speaker 1: in conversation. Who can say the next quippiest, funniest thing
- 0:26Speaker 1: and who knows more and what I can say I
- 0:28Speaker 1: have no pride in. This is the next person I
- 0:31Speaker 1: am introducing here, mister Eric Eggers. He is the vice
- 0:33Speaker 1: president of the Government Accountability Institute. He is co host
- 0:37Speaker 1: of The Drill Down he is. He is a movie
- 0:41Speaker 1: producer and director and writer of The Creepy Line, which
- 0:44Speaker 1: predicted the twenty twenty election in twenty eighteen, which is
- 0:47Speaker 1: super weird. I don't know. Maybe he's also a telepath
- 0:50Speaker 1: or like a psychic. I'm not sure. There might be
- 0:52Speaker 1: some questions there, but he's just a connoisseur of all
- 0:55Speaker 1: things smarty pants. We're super excited to have him here. Welcome,
- 0:58Speaker 1: mister Eggers.
- 1:00Speaker 2: You are absolutely correct that I do have a host
- 1:02Speaker 2: of personal deficiencies that I hope to make very public
- 1:05Speaker 2: in your podcast today. I was actually wondering, like, am
- 1:08Speaker 2: I the first guests she's ever had a show? So
- 1:11Speaker 2: that makes me like the Jackie Robinson of your podcast.
- 1:15Speaker 2: It makes me like the Barack Obama. I cannot wait
- 1:18Speaker 2: to exploit my new position as a barrier breaker in
- 1:22Speaker 2: this podcast space.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:24Speaker 1: You know the world is a hot mess. I say this,
- 1:26Speaker 1: you know every podcast. I'm like, there's no shortage of news,
- 1:29Speaker 1: but there really isn't. It gets to a point even
- 1:32Speaker 1: for people like you and I who work in news,
- 1:35Speaker 1: and for those of you listening. You know, Eric and
- 1:37Speaker 1: I've been friends a long time, and he really and
- 1:39Speaker 1: truly is a savant. The guy knows things like I
- 1:42Speaker 1: really like Jeopardy and I love Alex Trebeck and then
- 1:45Speaker 1: I was like, wait, I'll just be friends with Eggers
- 1:46Speaker 1: because that's just like walking Jeopardy. He knows tons of
- 1:50Speaker 1: things and you're like, how do you know that? And
- 1:51Speaker 1: he just whips them out. I'm like, I don't get it.
- 1:53Speaker 1: It's weird. So, but he has sort of a wealth
- 1:58Speaker 1: of knowledge about where the money comes from, where's the
- 2:01Speaker 1: sourcing from, who's actually behind all these terrible things. So
- 2:06Speaker 1: I really wanted to talk to him today. Not just
- 2:09Speaker 1: to bash all these these lunatics in LA and now, Eric, right,
- 2:14Speaker 1: what is it Austin, Chicago's everywhere.
- 2:17Speaker 3: It's it's crazy. It literally is.
- 2:19Speaker 1: You know.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I took my son to see the new Mission Impossible
- 2:22Speaker 2: film because it and it's really good. I mean, it's it.
- 2:27Speaker 2: It depends on how you want to consume things. It's
- 2:29Speaker 2: a little wokey in some stuff, but as a as
- 2:34Speaker 2: a piece of like fun popcorn movie that stunts are crazy,
- 2:38Speaker 2: it's cool. But the point of it is is like
- 2:40Speaker 2: it starts with there is no truth, the world's on fire,
- 2:43Speaker 2: everyone's mad at everybody, and it's like the stuff they
- 2:46Speaker 2: show is like, wait, no, that's Los Angeles, guys.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Like that is literally what we're seeing. Uh, And it is.
- 2:51Speaker 2: It is bizarrely predictive of what we actually now consume
- 2:55Speaker 2: as actual reality. It's terrifying, but it's great if you're
- 2:58Speaker 2: in the news business. Also, just want a quick fact checked.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I'm not a savant. It's a mistake a lot of
- 3:02Speaker 2: people make. I'm just socially awkward and so you know,
- 3:07Speaker 2: as your audience is about to find.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Out, well, I think you know. One of the things
- 3:11Speaker 1: I find really funny in this business, and you and
- 3:13Speaker 1: I are both in it. You know, we both worked
- 3:16Speaker 1: in radio, we both worked in TV and podcasting and
- 3:19Speaker 1: documentaries and worked on books. And I think in each
- 3:23Speaker 1: of these spectrums of media, when you're trying to give
- 3:26Speaker 1: your audience something to consume, you're really trying to give
- 3:30Speaker 1: them something they can't get anywhere else. Typically in our business,
- 3:33Speaker 1: that's the truth. People are true, they're having a hard
- 3:37Speaker 1: time with the truth.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Or just or how about a perspective that's true, right,
- 3:42Speaker 2: a perspective that's true that you're not really allowed to
- 3:45Speaker 2: or there's not space to have. I remember thinking in
- 3:49Speaker 2: twenty twenty and reading about so I wrote a book
- 3:52Speaker 2: in twenty eighteen called Fraud, How the Left Plans to
- 3:54Speaker 2: Steal the next election, and you know, talked about all
- 3:57Speaker 2: the vulnerabilities and electoral system and everything. I really did
- 4:01Speaker 2: think that Donald Trump would win the election in twenty twenty,
- 4:04Speaker 2: even though the polls showed he.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Was sort of losing.
- 4:07Speaker 2: But one of the reasons why I thought that is
- 4:09Speaker 2: there was all these studies that showed that no one
- 4:11Speaker 2: felt comfortable he'd been so demonized and vilified for four
- 4:15Speaker 2: years that people that wanted to support him didn't feel
- 4:18Speaker 2: like they could because there'd be a very real societal cost.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And that was like happening in the context of like
- 4:23Speaker 2: COVID and like you allowed to actually live your life
- 4:26Speaker 2: because your very existence, as endorsed by government policy was
- 4:31Speaker 2: a threat to other people, and other people were encouraged
- 4:34Speaker 2: to see your existence as a threat, and that obviously
- 4:37Speaker 2: then transferred to well, if you support the wrong ideas
- 4:40Speaker 2: the wrong people, then that also was a threat. And
- 4:43Speaker 2: I think it had kind of helped create some of
- 4:45Speaker 2: the social frameworks and emotional frameworks for some of the
- 4:48Speaker 2: stuff that you're now seeing today, which is very unfortunate,
- 4:52Speaker 2: but you know, maybe not the worst thing in the world.
- 4:54Speaker 2: It's really bad if you're an American, it's not the
- 4:56Speaker 2: worst thing in the world.
- 4:57Speaker 3: If you're in the media business as we are.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean the problem with the media businesses is
- 5:03Speaker 1: it really does love the ratings that all of this
- 5:06Speaker 1: chaos springs. As a human, as a Christian, I really
- 5:11Speaker 1: struggle with it, you know, like I think about you know,
- 5:14Speaker 1: I'm sure you saw that video where there's this woman
- 5:17Speaker 1: and she's going to work and these two woke Karens
- 5:20Speaker 1: are blocking her on their bikes with their signs. Dude
- 5:24Speaker 1: that it's cringe. It's so cringe like. And the best
- 5:28Speaker 1: part is she actually kind of like tries to like
- 5:32Speaker 1: mine f them a little bit, right, because she's like,
- 5:35Speaker 1: I'm black. I'm the person you think you're out here supporting.
- 5:39Speaker 1: I need to go to work. My child's in my car.
- 5:41Speaker 1: I have other children, Like please get out of the way, dude.
- 5:44Speaker 2: And the hippie and the tank tops like work work,
- 5:47Speaker 2: Like what work is? So is so much less important, right, bro,
- 5:56Speaker 2: do you even work?
- 5:58Speaker 1: I mean, honestly, both of those people needed. There was
- 6:01Speaker 1: another guy. I can't ever play this video because it's
- 6:04Speaker 1: so wrong, but there is these three black guys in
- 6:07Speaker 1: LA and they're talking about the one gentleman is explaining
- 6:13Speaker 1: to his other two friends. And I use the word
- 6:14Speaker 1: gentleman loosely. You know, they're around this like I don't
- 6:18Speaker 1: know where. They are in an alley somewhere, and he's
- 6:20Speaker 1: explaining to them. He's like, you got to go back
- 6:22Speaker 1: to the sixties when they use the hoses and the dogs.
- 6:25Speaker 1: The other guy's like, bro, what are you talking about.
- 6:29Speaker 1: He's like, it's not right, it's not right. You can't
- 6:32Speaker 1: just come into America and break the laws. And what's
- 6:34Speaker 1: funny is in his brain as nuanced as his ideas were,
- 6:41Speaker 1: He's like, America has never been so weak. Never in
- 6:46Speaker 1: our lives have we seen on live television people taking
- 6:52Speaker 1: motor bikes and rental bikes and malotov cocktails and rocks
- 6:57Speaker 1: and throwing them and hurling them, actually making contact with
- 7:02Speaker 1: law enforcement. All different types of leos too, not just
- 7:05Speaker 1: like regular police were talking federal agents, ice agents, detectives, dea,
- 7:11Speaker 1: they don't give a rip. I watched a woman take
- 7:13Speaker 1: her pocketbook and whack this cop in the face. And
- 7:16Speaker 1: I'm thinking to myself, when I get pulled over, I
- 7:19Speaker 1: can't breathe. I cannot imagine. And I think I'm pretty tough,
- 7:25Speaker 1: like I don't take any crap for anybody, but I
- 7:26Speaker 1: am not just respectful to our police.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Like what no I would imagine.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I try to be very respectful for law enforcement generally,
- 7:34Speaker 2: but we know when anyone else has a weapon, I'm like, yes, sir, yes,
- 7:38Speaker 2: and no. But think about what you're talking about, though,
- 7:41Speaker 2: Like that speaks to what's been happening.
- 7:44Speaker 3: The summer.
- 7:45Speaker 4: You know.
- 7:46Speaker 3: We did a podcast a few weeks ago.
- 7:48Speaker 2: We talked about the fifth the anniversary of the George
- 7:50Speaker 2: Floyd riots, and it was the summer of COVID, Summer
- 7:52Speaker 2: George Floyd. And you know, one of the things that
- 7:55Speaker 2: came out of that is how much harder it became
- 7:58Speaker 2: for law enforcement to actually recruit people because nobody wanted
- 8:02Speaker 2: to be a police officer.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Police officers.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I mean, obviously there are law enforcement officers who do
- 8:08Speaker 2: a bad job or they make mistakes, and you know,
- 8:10Speaker 2: they're not perfect, just like any other population, but they
- 8:13Speaker 2: were vilified in a way, and the vilification the protests
- 8:16Speaker 2: were celebrated in a mainstream way.
- 8:19Speaker 3: And so I mean that actually is what I think
- 8:21Speaker 3: about now is.
- 8:23Speaker 2: You know, you know we've talked about it, but you've
- 8:25Speaker 2: got the mayor of Los Angeles and you've got Gavin Newsom.
- 8:27Speaker 2: They're saying, Okay, Donald Trump, and the presence of law
- 8:30Speaker 2: enforcement is actually making things worse. And I thought, what
- 8:34Speaker 2: if you're a police officer in Los Angeles, Like, at
- 8:37Speaker 2: no point has anybody said the police officers are doing
- 8:40Speaker 2: a great job. The implication is actually the opposite. They're
- 8:42Speaker 2: suggesting that the presence of law enforcements was leading to
- 8:46Speaker 2: violence and crime, and that is so backwards and wrong.
- 8:51Speaker 2: It's like awellian and dystopian. But that's the that's the
- 8:56Speaker 2: logic that they've sold us for the last half a decade.
- 9:00Speaker 1: So question.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and so I think that's it's unfortunate that you're
- 9:03Speaker 2: seeing this, and I, dude, I'm actually quite worried that
- 9:06Speaker 2: it's going to get a lot worse this weekend.
- 9:08Speaker 1: So I'm in New York City, so to today. You know,
- 9:11Speaker 1: I came in by train, took the subway, YadA YadA,
- 9:16Speaker 1: and I'm just looking around because what happens is this
- 9:18Speaker 1: is the other thing. You know, protesters, they really kind
- 9:21Speaker 1: of have it good, right. They're making what is it,
- 9:22Speaker 1: seven to thirteen thousand a week, whether they protest or not.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I heard you say that, by the way, on your
- 9:28Speaker 2: last podcast, and I like, I like that we're pretending
- 9:31Speaker 2: that you're on Craigslist because that's for research for the
- 9:33Speaker 2: show and not for anything else.
- 9:34Speaker 1: But yeah, absolutely, I was like, I don't really know
- 9:37Speaker 1: this platform that much. I'm never here just perusing for
- 9:41Speaker 1: the purposes of the show. Thank you for listening. Like, honestly,
- 9:46Speaker 1: if you're unemployed and you can make seven to thirteen
- 9:49Speaker 1: thousand dollars, whether you protest or not. And I think
- 9:53Speaker 1: to myself, Okay, and they have all these people who
- 9:56Speaker 1: went under cover, and we actually had one of them
- 9:58Speaker 1: on the show the other day, Cam Higbee, and he was,
- 10:01Speaker 1: you know, he's in the LA riots. He's there, and
- 10:03Speaker 1: he's like, they are organized. They have pieces of paper,
- 10:06Speaker 1: they are told what to say, how to say it,
- 10:08Speaker 1: where to run, what to do. They're given water, bandanas,
- 10:12Speaker 1: band aids, bats, they have makeshift bombs and firecrackers, all
- 10:18Speaker 1: kinds of I mean, they are going out super ready.
- 10:22Speaker 1: And so that COEs that hearkens back to the whole
- 10:24Speaker 1: idea of the of who's profiting, who's making money off
- 10:28Speaker 1: of this? Why is there such a desire to subvert
- 10:32Speaker 1: you know, the United States of America as a whole
- 10:35Speaker 1: other podcast. But I think the thing that I'm struggling
- 10:38Speaker 1: with the most, and this goes back to the original
- 10:40Speaker 1: comment of we want to give something different truth, a
- 10:44Speaker 1: perspective of truth, just maybe like I don't care who
- 10:47Speaker 1: is telling it, whether it's the left or the right,
- 10:49Speaker 1: the rich or the poor. I just want to tell
- 10:51Speaker 1: you what's happening. And I'm looking at CNN and I
- 10:54Speaker 1: feel like, to your point, I'm back during the George
- 10:56Speaker 1: Floyd riots. I'm looking at Dana Bash and Jake Tapper
- 11:02Speaker 1: and Nicole Wallace and you know, the the ridiculous people
- 11:07Speaker 1: that sit around that desk on the view. These riots
- 11:11Speaker 1: are not riots, purely expression due to the frustration caused
- 11:18Speaker 1: by Donald Trump. And I'm like, guys, they're throwing vehicles
- 11:23Speaker 1: and setting them on fire. That's not where is that peaceful?
- 11:28Speaker 1: I mean right, No, it's.
- 11:30Speaker 3: A it's a good gig, it's well paid.
- 11:33Speaker 2: And based on the video I've seen of people looting,
- 11:37Speaker 2: you know, the Apple store, it comes to the free iPhone.
- 11:40Speaker 1: So it's not your fault, it's not their fault.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Okay, no, it's not their fault. No, this is worse,
- 11:45Speaker 2: and I think it speaks to you, and I think
- 11:47Speaker 2: you've heard you say this before. There weren't really any
- 11:50Speaker 2: consequences for doing it in twenty twenty, right, like you
- 11:52Speaker 2: got bailed out. There's all these funds, and it was
- 11:55Speaker 2: I think the left saw this is the Yeah, that's
- 11:58Speaker 2: what I'm saying. So and Mike, you know, Tim Walls. Yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 2: So the person who presided over the dumpster fire that
- 12:04Speaker 2: was Minnesota during twenty twenty got picked to be the
- 12:08Speaker 2: vice president. You know, they say, oh, I'm here to
- 12:12Speaker 2: code talk to white guys. No, I think it was
- 12:13Speaker 2: actually meant as an endorsement of all the other behaviors
- 12:15Speaker 2: that they sort of like helped foment and and and
- 12:19Speaker 2: helped celebrate.
- 12:20Speaker 3: In twenty twenty, it was.
- 12:21Speaker 2: It's a disaster, and Minnesota was worse, not just in
- 12:24Speaker 2: terms of the riots for the George Floyd stuff, but
- 12:27Speaker 2: then also they were like among the more hard handed
- 12:30Speaker 2: stuff for COVID shutdowns. Right, You've seen those videos of
- 12:32Speaker 2: them like firing rubber bullets telling people to go back outside.
- 12:35Speaker 3: It's it's the.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Worst thing, the worst Yeah, No, the worst Democratic policies
- 12:40Speaker 2: that you could come up with was Minnesota, and that's
- 12:42Speaker 2: who they picked. So that just shows you where they are.
- 12:44Speaker 2: And then you wonder why they were you know, they
- 12:46Speaker 2: got beat so badly. Yeah, despite that, the this and effort. No,
- 12:50Speaker 2: it's terrible, and it's good news for being you know,
- 12:52Speaker 2: I think right minor Republicans because it's like they still
- 12:55Speaker 2: don't have it figured out, and the fact that they can't,
- 12:57Speaker 2: heard Mark Halpern say on his podcast recently, why wouldn't
- 13:00Speaker 2: they just come out and say hey, thank you Donald
- 13:02Speaker 2: Trump for sell it, for sending support and in reinforcements,
- 13:06Speaker 2: Like why would you not say that? It's because Donald
- 13:09Speaker 2: Trump is so toxic and still seen as such a
- 13:13Speaker 2: threat that like they.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Have to be. They're too.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Beholden to the donor and activist class, and so they
- 13:22Speaker 2: can't then say what most people want to say, which
- 13:25Speaker 2: is like, actually, Donald Trump's not the problem. Law Enforcement's
- 13:29Speaker 2: not the problem. The rioters are the problem, and anybody
- 13:32Speaker 2: that says anything else is lying to you.
- 13:34Speaker 1: So I want to go back to something which that
- 13:37Speaker 1: just made me think of it. You know, the lobbyists
- 13:41Speaker 1: and the people who sit on the boards. Yeah, and
- 13:44Speaker 1: the people that are getting kickbacks and are literally making
- 13:48Speaker 1: money off the demise of others. Right, m So you
- 13:51Speaker 1: look at you know, twenty twenty and Donald Trump, and
- 13:56Speaker 1: I always say the same thing. I'm like, people love
- 14:00Speaker 1: Donald Trump. You say what you want. You know, I
- 14:03Speaker 1: don't have to marry him, I don't have to have
- 14:04Speaker 1: dinner with him, but I like the way it runs business. Yeah,
- 14:07Speaker 1: So if you can put aside your personal logita, you know,
- 14:12Speaker 1: we have Joe Biden who's sniffing and touching small children
- 14:16Speaker 1: on camera, it's it's not for debate. It's just not
- 14:19Speaker 1: you know, the.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Deep fake, and you know.
- 14:20Speaker 1: It like I'm sorry, guys, like it's just weird. It
- 14:25Speaker 1: just is. You got it. And then you know, we
- 14:27Speaker 1: had the whole Ashley Biden diary thing, which just sweeped
- 14:30Speaker 1: out under the giant rug in the middle of the room.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Also, remember when that lady accused him of like sexual harassment.
- 14:36Speaker 2: That was a big thing too for like a minute,
- 14:37Speaker 2: and then that went away, just.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Like the Laptop from Hell went nowhere. And all of
- 14:42Speaker 1: these accusations and the problem is, and it goes to
- 14:46Speaker 1: every single thing, right, whether it's the election in twenty twenty,
- 14:49Speaker 1: whether it is the original source of COVID, whether it
- 14:53Speaker 1: is why it's okay for these thousands and thousands of
- 14:56Speaker 1: paid protesters to destroy cities in the name of progress,
- 15:01Speaker 1: and I use that term loosely, all of these things
- 15:04Speaker 1: you can't can't ask questions. If you ask questions, there's
- 15:07Speaker 1: something wrong with you. And I'm like, I'm sorry, I
- 15:11Speaker 1: thought that that was the whole point. If you aren't
- 15:14Speaker 1: committed to your mission, and that's being very kind, why
- 15:19Speaker 1: are you covering your face? Why are you covering your face,
- 15:23Speaker 1: what are you doing it?
- 15:24Speaker 2: It's a great point, and that to me was actually
- 15:25Speaker 2: the worst part about I mean everything about twenty twenty
- 15:28Speaker 2: was bad, but yes, that you couldn't And that's why
- 15:30Speaker 2: again I thought like Trump will win because the amount
- 15:35Speaker 2: of space that was taken from us to say things
- 15:39Speaker 2: disappeared so dramatically, like you couldn't question anything like mask policies, right,
- 15:44Speaker 2: like I mean know, like remember, I mean, no, you
- 15:46Speaker 2: have to wear a mask all the time unless you're
- 15:48Speaker 2: at a restaurant, you know, unless you're like actively eating it.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Was it bad? Is it not bad? You know?
- 15:53Speaker 1: I never wore a mask. I've never fought so many
- 15:56Speaker 1: strangers in my life. Yeah, I'm like, I'm sorry, I'm
- 16:00Speaker 1: not wearing a mask to go to the store of
- 16:02Speaker 1: by bananas.
- 16:03Speaker 2: I actually gained COVID nineteen because in terms of pounds,
- 16:07Speaker 2: just because I was always having like something in my
- 16:09Speaker 2: mouth when I was like, it's like, no, that was
- 16:12Speaker 2: the thing. I can I can do this, Okay, it
- 16:14Speaker 2: doesn't matter.
- 16:15Speaker 3: I remembered flying.
- 16:16Speaker 1: And they had just kind of lifted it and I
- 16:20Speaker 1: was in, uh, I want to where I was going
- 16:22Speaker 1: out west. It was a very long flight and as
- 16:26Speaker 1: soon as I got on the flight, it was like
- 16:28Speaker 1: seeing like you know, like when I see like a
- 16:29Speaker 1: female pilot who you know, looks like she's eleven and
- 16:32Speaker 1: maybe has flown ten hours, I'm like, I'm getting off,
- 16:35Speaker 1: so I can't. I get on the plane and I
- 16:37Speaker 1: see her. She's got the N ninety five and then
- 16:40Speaker 1: the mask on top of that, and then one around
- 16:42Speaker 1: her head, and I'm like, ma'am, what is happening? Like,
- 16:47Speaker 1: that's not that's not protecting yourself or anybody else. That's
- 16:51Speaker 1: just your psychosis manifesting itself in your face in many
- 16:55Speaker 1: layers of paper. I really, I am struggling in a
- 16:59Speaker 1: large way. I actually hurt for you. But she decided
- 17:02Speaker 1: that I was going to be her target. And I'm
- 17:04Speaker 1: sitting there and she goes, I'm hi, Hi, So I'm
- 17:07Speaker 1: going to need you to just if you're not actively
- 17:09Speaker 1: eating or drinking, to just keep that mask in place.
- 17:14Speaker 1: And I looked her no, She's like, I'm sorry, that's
- 17:19Speaker 1: federal alarm. Like it's actually not federal law. The mandate
- 17:21Speaker 1: has been lifted. I can I don't have to wear
- 17:23Speaker 1: my mask unless I'm sick, and I'm not sick. I'm fine,
- 17:26Speaker 1: actually you look like you're very unwell. I see you
- 17:28Speaker 1: have like or four I wish you all the best
- 17:32Speaker 1: of my friend. She reland the plane and the captain
- 17:36Speaker 1: comes out and she's like, I've told the captain that
- 17:39Speaker 1: he needs to speak with you. I'm like, oh, he
- 17:40Speaker 1: wants to talk to me.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Fantastic, right, Like we did the thing. I bought the ticket,
- 17:45Speaker 2: I took the ride, and now get off.
- 17:48Speaker 1: We're here. We don't need to talk anymore. The interaction
- 17:51Speaker 1: is over. Have a nice day, you know. I'll send
- 17:52Speaker 1: you a mask. Looks like you could use one. But
- 17:55Speaker 1: all of that to say, it was like it it
- 17:57Speaker 1: gave power to people.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so so back to the point, like go
- 18:02Speaker 2: back to the hippies in the street blocking the African
- 18:04Speaker 2: American lady. It's I've been thinking about this. It's like
- 18:07Speaker 2: inherently self elevating. It's like they feel good about themselves
- 18:12Speaker 2: by telling this lady, bro, why are you going to work?
- 18:14Speaker 2: Like my position is so much better because I care
- 18:17Speaker 2: about like what actually matters, and they understand the things
- 18:19Speaker 2: that actually matter, and you're an idiot and you're just
- 18:22Speaker 2: causing harm and destruction on other people. It's very unfortunate,
- 18:26Speaker 2: and I'm really glad that period is over. But but
- 18:30Speaker 2: I do think the seeds of that still very much
- 18:33Speaker 2: exist in the small pockets where those people because you
- 18:37Speaker 2: would have to confront and you'd have to admit to
- 18:40Speaker 2: yourself that what you believed and did was wrong, and
- 18:43Speaker 2: they won't do that. And so that's why, right so,
- 18:45Speaker 2: like so law enforcement still bad, and that's why the
- 18:48Speaker 2: immigrants are good. And I think there's a difference right between.
- 18:52Speaker 2: You know, I think that there's some people that would say,
- 18:55Speaker 2: you can't just say, hey, we think forced deportations of
- 18:58Speaker 2: people who are just here illegally, maybe that's too much.
- 19:01Speaker 2: And I don't think there's as much support for that
- 19:03Speaker 2: across the country as But you can't just say that.
- 19:06Speaker 2: It's like no, no, no, cops are bad, ice raids
- 19:09Speaker 2: are bad, you know, I mean, like they there was
- 19:11Speaker 2: people that's a Maryland man, it's a Maryland dad. He's
- 19:14Speaker 2: not a you know, somebody's got all kinds of problems.
- 19:16Speaker 2: And remember and we talked about this on this week's
- 19:18Speaker 2: episode of The Buildown like the whole thing started and
- 19:21Speaker 2: Tom Homan said this, our borders are said, we weren't
- 19:24Speaker 2: just looking for illegal immigrants. We were busting up a
- 19:28Speaker 2: money laundering operation that was benefiting the Mexican cartel. Eighty
- 19:32Speaker 2: million dollars worth of underreported assets is here, and the
- 19:35Speaker 2: drug cartels have made billions of dollars because of this
- 19:39Speaker 2: open border policy under Joe Biden. Like, that's what they're
- 19:41Speaker 2: going after. And I think that's actually so you've taken
- 19:45Speaker 2: like real money that speaks to like a real geopolitical
- 19:48Speaker 2: threat to the United States, and people are celebrating it
- 19:51Speaker 2: because they think it's about something that is about some
- 19:55Speaker 2: civil rights issue, even though it's not really.
- 19:57Speaker 1: But to that point, Eric, right, So you made an
- 19:59Speaker 1: excellent point on your show for those of you who
- 20:02Speaker 1: didn't miss it. In the front, he hosts The Drill
- 20:03Speaker 1: Down with Peter Schweitzer. It's excellent. It's every week. It's
- 20:06Speaker 1: a wonderful podcast. And they do ridiculous research that nobody
- 20:10Speaker 1: else does. Truly, nobody else does. And they pointed out
- 20:13Speaker 1: the fact that Tom Holman didn't like sort of say, hey,
- 20:17Speaker 1: that looks like a fun factory to go into. No,
- 20:19Speaker 1: that's not what happened. They were executing search warrants based
- 20:23Speaker 1: upon information and data that they had collected in their
- 20:27Speaker 1: investigations that showed that it was a money laundering operation
- 20:30Speaker 1: and that they needed to arrest these people who were
- 20:32Speaker 1: operating within the boundaries of and for cartels. And I'm
- 20:37Speaker 1: sure it's trendy Aragua and the Sinaloa MS thirteen, God
- 20:42Speaker 1: knows who else. Is there something wrong? Like are we
- 20:45Speaker 1: not able to enforce the law? Oh, well, you can't
- 20:48Speaker 1: arrest the union leader. Okay, Well, if the union leader
- 20:52Speaker 1: is the guy that is the one that is executing
- 20:56Speaker 1: everything for the cartel, then the union leader goes to jail.
- 20:59Speaker 1: That's the way it works. It doesn't matter who it
- 21:01Speaker 1: is that's following the law. But it's this idea that
- 21:03Speaker 1: they're convoluting it with the illegal immigration fight. And they're saying, oh,
- 21:08Speaker 1: they're just trying to feed their families. So I'm like, bro,
- 21:09Speaker 1: he's not trying to feed anybody Learney for the cartel,
- 21:13Speaker 1: Like stop, it's so. But see, it's to your point
- 21:16Speaker 1: and what we were saying earlier. People don't know this
- 21:18Speaker 1: right because they're not seeing it. They're not watching what
- 21:22Speaker 1: they need to watch to learn what they need to learn.
- 21:25Speaker 2: They're just by the way and by the way, one
- 21:27Speaker 2: of the groups that helped organize these protests that we
- 21:29Speaker 2: talked about in our podcast Turla. We actually had one
- 21:34Speaker 2: of our researchers and author, Jed macfatter, he was He
- 21:37Speaker 2: put out a tweet, but basically that in twenty twenty one,
- 21:41Speaker 2: that group spent I think upwards of five hundred thousand
- 21:43Speaker 2: dollars to defeat Gavin Newston's recall amendment. So like, so
- 21:47Speaker 2: these groups that are helping to organize these things. So
- 21:50Speaker 2: if you wonder, like how come Gavin Newstom, how come
- 21:52Speaker 2: mayor Canbass, like these local elected leaders, how come they're
- 21:54Speaker 2: saying things that seem not in support of like the
- 21:57Speaker 2: regular citizens in California.
- 21:58Speaker 3: It's because they have been.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Supported by these groups that are tied in with these protests.
- 22:04Speaker 2: And so yeah, they're unfortunately like either direct beneficiarias or
- 22:07Speaker 2: in some ways partners with the groups they're helping to
- 22:10Speaker 2: do this. So you that's where they're going to be,
- 22:12Speaker 2: and that's where they will be, and that's why I
- 22:13Speaker 2: think you're gonna see so many different you know, wait
- 22:17Speaker 2: until next week, we will talk about the money on
- 22:18Speaker 2: the drill down. We will talk about the money behind
- 22:20Speaker 2: what's happening, what's gonna happen this weekend.
- 22:22Speaker 3: The No Kings movement.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I mean, it's just it's not just crazy Randy Winegarten
- 22:26Speaker 2: and the teacher people.
- 22:27Speaker 3: There's there's real money from real bad places. Yeah. No,
- 22:30Speaker 3: it's going to be so stay tuned for that.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Well, there's also you know, we've got sing them, We've
- 22:34Speaker 1: got PSL, Trilla, all the things. But I think the
- 22:39Speaker 1: bigger picture that people are also unaware of. When you
- 22:43Speaker 1: see somebody like Bono come out and start talking about
- 22:47Speaker 1: the starving children and USA, I'm like, just go sing
- 22:51Speaker 1: where the streets have no name, sir. That's your job,
- 22:54Speaker 1: that's what you're Okay, it's a beautiful song. I enjoy it,
- 22:57Speaker 1: Please sing it. Stop talking about politics. This this whole
- 23:01Speaker 1: group of Like, I'm an artist, therefore I resonate with
- 23:06Speaker 1: the refugee and the lost. But the original you know,
- 23:09Speaker 1: idea of give me you're tired, you're poor, you know,
- 23:13Speaker 1: you're hungry masses like, that's not what we're dealing with.
- 23:17Speaker 1: We're dealing with opportunists who came across an open border
- 23:20Speaker 1: and our milking system, depleting the system and sending money
- 23:24Speaker 1: back to another country. Oh and by the way, the
- 23:26Speaker 1: Mexican president is pissed off because she doesn't want to
- 23:28Speaker 1: pay taxes on American dollars either. And that to mention
- 23:32Speaker 1: the fact the funneling of money through USA two NGOs
- 23:36Speaker 1: that go to all the illegal things that we're talking about.
- 23:38Speaker 1: You have to follow the money.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Follow money remittances from the United States, and Mexico has
- 23:43Speaker 2: shocked learned this sixty four billion dollars, sixty four billion
- 23:47Speaker 2: dollars get sent back from people in this country to Mexico,
- 23:51Speaker 2: which you know, hey, it's their right, they can do.
- 23:53Speaker 2: They can do whatever they want to do. But that's
- 23:55Speaker 2: five percent of the Mexican economy. That's like the telecom
- 23:59Speaker 2: industry and like online media stuff. I mean, that's it's
- 24:01Speaker 2: it's massive, and so yeah, of course they're incentivized to
- 24:04Speaker 2: do it. And that's why she said, Look, we will,
- 24:06Speaker 2: we will protest and we will organize. They're talking about
- 24:08Speaker 2: in this big beautiful bill adding a three and a
- 24:10Speaker 2: half percent tax to the remittances, which I think, even
- 24:13Speaker 2: as conservatives, I know it feels good, but I don't
- 24:16Speaker 2: feel like you want a tax like it's their money, right, Like,
- 24:18Speaker 2: so I don't think we want to be in the
- 24:21Speaker 2: business of supporting taxes. But that's but I think, you know,
- 24:24Speaker 2: Conservats should be able to be honest and have honest
- 24:26Speaker 2: conversations about that, whereas on the left is like, no,
- 24:28Speaker 2: like we will take these positions and do it. But
- 24:30Speaker 2: you got Republicans saying that, well, maybe we'll jack up
- 24:32Speaker 2: to fifteen percent just as a retaliatory measure.
- 24:35Speaker 3: We'll see, right.
- 24:36Speaker 2: But the point is, the money behind this issue is
- 24:39Speaker 2: insane and that's what's actually going on. But unfortunately, that
- 24:44Speaker 2: is not what the media talks about. The media just
- 24:46Speaker 2: talks about these poor, innocent black and brown people who
- 24:50Speaker 2: are being mistreated by law enforcement.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Right. And unfortunately, if we look statistically, there's two things
- 24:56Speaker 1: happening statistically in crime, and this is a real they're
- 25:01Speaker 1: putting down people who are arrested who are black and
- 25:05Speaker 1: brown as white. And so if you see the police reports,
- 25:09Speaker 1: these leos will tell you. They'll usually tell you undercover,
- 25:12Speaker 1: because if they speak out about it, they get in trouble.
- 25:15Speaker 1: But when they release, when they release the police reports
- 25:18Speaker 1: and they'll put them online, sometimes you'll see those things.
- 25:20Speaker 1: They'll say this person was white or this and they weren't.
- 25:24Speaker 1: And so it's a bigger issue. That's another podcast. In
- 25:27Speaker 1: any event, Eric Agers, thank you for being with us.
- 25:29Speaker 1: The world's on fire. I hope you've got your you know,
- 25:32Speaker 1: your summer weather attire ready, because it's gonna be a
- 25:35Speaker 1: long summer.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Listen, Linda, there's a reason why I do podcasts. Okay.
- 25:40Speaker 2: I don't have the I don't have the wardrobe to
- 25:42Speaker 2: consistently do television and and you.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Know this better than anybody.
- 25:46Speaker 2: And I resent you for bringing up yet another one
- 25:48Speaker 2: of my personal shortcomings, but I will say it was
- 25:52Speaker 2: so fun. Let me also, just like you said, Bono,
- 25:54Speaker 2: and I have to let this. I have to say
- 25:56Speaker 2: this because it triggered me. I'm somebody who defends liberty
- 26:00Speaker 2: and freedom for all. I will I like you too.
- 26:04Speaker 2: I used to like you too. I will never forgive
- 26:07Speaker 2: Bono for forcing himself onto my iPhone with that album. However,
- 26:12Speaker 2: many years ago, it's still there. It's so bothersomething.
- 26:14Speaker 1: It was.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Super weird, Like why are we pretending that that's okay?
- 26:18Speaker 2: That was actually worse than COVID.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I was like you a lot, you don't need to
- 26:22Speaker 1: force it.
- 26:23Speaker 3: I'll stop it.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Cool. Yeah, it really weird. Like anyways, Eric Angers, everybody
- 26:28Speaker 1: This is Lynda McLaughlin in the Road Recap. Check us
- 26:30Speaker 1: out online at Lennamick at the Road Recap. I'll see
- 26:33Speaker 1: you tomorrow.
