Solar eclipse - When is it and how to watch it safely
The next solar eclipse is happening today, Wednesday, August 12, 2026, delivering a rare celestial spectacle across Europe, North America, and parts of Africa. A spectacular total solar eclipse will track across parts of Greenland, Iceland, Spain, Portugal, and Russia. Meanwhile, countries like the UK, France, Germany, and regions in Canada and the US will witness a deep partial solar eclipse. Because the eclipse occurs in the evening, look low toward the western horizon from an elevated spot for the best view.
