Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: So hello everybody. I'm Jada from Frozen Crown and I'm
- 0:04Speaker 1: here to talk about our new album War Hearts, out
- 0:07Speaker 1: on Apen Records on October eighteen.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Beautiful Jay, thanks for joining us this evening.
- 0:15Speaker 1: So everything is fine here. We are very happy to
- 0:18Speaker 1: be here and to talk with you from Australia. So
- 0:21Speaker 1: it's always it's always nice for us, and thank you
- 0:25Speaker 1: for having me here for us. This album is very
- 0:28Speaker 1: important because it's the first we are we are releasing
- 0:32Speaker 1: with Napen Records, and the first as a six piece band.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Very nice.
- 0:38Speaker 3: I've got all those in there later on, so we'll
- 0:40Speaker 3: chat about all those individually as we go, but firstly,
- 0:43Speaker 3: tell us a bit about Warhearts, some musical.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Point of view and what are you're going for with it?
- 0:49Speaker 1: Yes, so war Hearts this is somehow a fresh start
- 0:52Speaker 1: for us because you know, a new label, new guitar player.
- 0:56Speaker 1: But on the same side, it's a very Frozen Crown now,
- 1:00Speaker 1: so we really wanted to be loyal to to our sound,
- 1:05Speaker 1: to our style, so you will find us something always
- 1:09Speaker 1: for a crumb, but more powerful, you know. Adding a
- 1:13Speaker 1: third guitar has been a plus for us because especially
- 1:18Speaker 1: from the life point of view, We really wanted to
- 1:23Speaker 1: take the same amounts of layers of guitars we have
- 1:27Speaker 1: in the album. We are not fans of sequences and
- 1:31Speaker 1: back in tracks, so we wanted to be true and
- 1:35Speaker 1: working with a third guitar player has been a great
- 1:39Speaker 1: enrichment for us Alessia, you know, has been a breath
- 1:44Speaker 1: of fresh air. And also having third guitar give us
- 1:49Speaker 1: the chance to enriach the arrangement.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 3: I always going to bring that up, actually because I
- 1:55Speaker 3: had listened to the album before the interview and it's
- 1:57Speaker 3: very guitar dominated or there's a lot of guitars in
- 2:00Speaker 3: Was that a focus going into the album?
- 2:03Speaker 1: Oh, yes, because we have always been and you know,
- 2:06Speaker 1: some speed power metal band and we always love to
- 2:11Speaker 1: empower the guitar the guitar side, so yes, you know,
- 2:16Speaker 1: also vocally wise, drum wise, there are always a lot
- 2:21Speaker 1: of experimentation of parts we really wanted to share with
- 2:28Speaker 1: the world. But guitars has always been one of our trademark.
- 2:33Speaker 3: And the new idea of your old guitars that you're
- 2:35Speaker 3: talking about is actually only eighteen years old. Yes, our
- 2:39Speaker 3: age is irrelevant, but it's phenomenal to hear a play
- 2:42Speaker 3: on the album, like, tell us a bit more about
- 2:43Speaker 3: her and what she brings to the sound.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yes, yes, so we know her when she was I
- 2:49Speaker 1: think sixteen fifteen. We know her from a lot of
- 2:52Speaker 1: years because she was a fan of the band. She
- 2:56Speaker 1: was recording herself playing our song. So because she leaves
- 3:03Speaker 1: really close to us, we had the chance to meet
- 3:05Speaker 1: her and become friends. We saw her grow, we saw
- 3:09Speaker 1: her life, and we share a lot of nice moments
- 3:14Speaker 1: with her. So when it came to the decision of
- 3:17Speaker 1: adding a third guitar, she was the only choice. You know,
- 3:20Speaker 1: she's a complete guitar player, even if she's so young,
- 3:24Speaker 1: both from the solos point of view and from the
- 3:27Speaker 1: rhythms point of view. So in the album you can
- 3:31Speaker 1: hear her making a lot of solos I hope you
- 3:36Speaker 1: will enjoy. And from the process of recording more or less,
- 3:41Speaker 1: it's always the same because the core of the song,
- 3:43Speaker 1: it's always written by me and Federico, So the song
- 3:47Speaker 1: takes shape from the vocal lines, from the structure, the arrangements,
- 3:51Speaker 1: and then when it came to the solo parts, to
- 3:55Speaker 1: the guitar parts, this new mind came and gave her addition.
- 4:01Speaker 3: That's cool, and also mentioned that it's the first time
- 4:05Speaker 3: that all members.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Have been on the recordings. What do you mean by that?
- 4:09Speaker 1: Oh, yes, because this time we had we had more time.
- 4:13Speaker 1: We have the chance to give everyone the time to
- 4:17Speaker 1: think very well about their their part, and we had
- 4:22Speaker 1: the time to make some really really nice recordings. So
- 4:27Speaker 1: the first that enters in the in the process is
- 4:30Speaker 1: our drummer and Easel. Then it came to our bass
- 4:34Speaker 1: player Ikey. So everyone had the chance to have the
- 4:39Speaker 1: right amount of time to to write, to express himself
- 4:42Speaker 1: and to record his own stuff and the way he wanted.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Real nice.
- 4:48Speaker 3: And the title Warhats also pays homage to Children at Bottom,
- 4:52Speaker 3: So tell us there.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Oh yes, when we were a teenager, you know, Children
- 5:00Speaker 1: of Bottom were have born, so they have been a
- 5:05Speaker 1: lot of They have been one of our main influences.
- 5:08Speaker 1: We were very into Northern Europe metal and especially bands
- 5:15Speaker 1: like like Children of Bottom, and we really loved every
- 5:19Speaker 1: one of their albums and we feel that we are
- 5:24Speaker 1: very close to the to the mindset they have because
- 5:27Speaker 1: they were a young band going on stage a very
- 5:31Speaker 1: rock and roll, very raw you know. This takes me
- 5:34Speaker 1: to the to the thing I was telling you before
- 5:37Speaker 1: adding a third guitar to be true on stage, because
- 5:41Speaker 1: nowadays for us there is some kind of abuse of
- 5:45Speaker 1: backing tracks and sequences. So being children of Bottom one
- 5:50Speaker 1: of our influences and we really feel very close to
- 5:56Speaker 1: the to the approach they had live we wanted to pay.
- 5:59Speaker 3: A does now Yes, you sound it sort of a
- 6:05Speaker 3: blends power metal, speed metal and traditional heavy metal together.
- 6:08Speaker 3: So and in the writing process, I guess how do
- 6:11Speaker 3: you find the balance between those three genres?
- 6:13Speaker 2: Like how do you make it all fit in well together?
- 6:16Speaker 1: Oh, it's something that comes so very natural for us,
- 6:20Speaker 1: maybe because you know, our influences pop up from our
- 6:25Speaker 1: heart and every one of us has this inside, we
- 6:30Speaker 1: have this common background, so you know, putting things together happened,
- 6:37Speaker 1: happened by itself. How can I say? Yes? And we
- 6:42Speaker 1: had the room and the chance to put everything in
- 6:45Speaker 1: our song that we wanted, all these influences, and I'm
- 6:48Speaker 1: really happy that you can feel them.
- 6:53Speaker 3: So how would you say that FROs and Crown sound
- 6:56Speaker 3: has changed or grown from your debut album The Fallen
- 6:59Speaker 3: King through the.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Oh? So of course there are different things that evolved
- 7:08Speaker 1: in our sound, in our songwriting, in our approach. But
- 7:13Speaker 1: I think that we have been a very how can
- 7:18Speaker 1: I say, a band that never changed his intention. We
- 7:23Speaker 1: are always recognizable. Our style is the same, it improved,
- 7:28Speaker 1: but it's always frozen Crown. Also in this album, even
- 7:32Speaker 1: if it's a fresh start, we wanted it to sound
- 7:36Speaker 1: really really frozen Crown and not experimentation or something different,
- 7:41Speaker 1: because we have the chance with nap On to reach
- 7:45Speaker 1: maybe more people than before, so we wanted to say, oh,
- 7:49Speaker 1: this is us, this is us, and if you go
- 7:53Speaker 1: back in our previous albums you will always find us.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Now you've got a tour coming up with Hame a Lot,
- 8:00Speaker 3: Adding Finishmen, Blackbriar starting on October Twelvensis right, it's right, yes, yes, yes.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Oh we are so excited to go because we are
- 8:14Speaker 1: really looking forward to share with the world our album.
- 8:18Speaker 1: It's a it's a tour with all the label mates. Yes, yes, yes,
- 8:24Speaker 1: so we How can I say, coming Out have been
- 8:29Speaker 1: one of my main influences. Also when I was a teenager,
- 8:32Speaker 1: you know, I was very into power metal. So it's
- 8:35Speaker 1: a great satisfaction for us and that this tour gives
- 8:39Speaker 1: us the chance to be in the UK that we
- 8:42Speaker 1: have never been before, so we are really looking forward
- 8:45Speaker 1: to share this, uh this tour with bandmate label mates.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Every one of us has a new album out, so
- 8:55Speaker 1: it would be it would be very nice.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:58Speaker 3: I was talking with Nicholas format in finish him the
- 9:00Speaker 3: other day and he was mentioned the same thing.
- 9:02Speaker 2: He said, they're really looking for the tour.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I bet it will be great.
- 9:09Speaker 2: And the tour is called the Awaken the World Tour.
- 9:13Speaker 3: So does that mean like Australia is part of the world,
- 9:16Speaker 3: So does that mean to come down here soon?
- 9:20Speaker 1: Or we are really looking forward also because we have
- 9:23Speaker 1: a lot of fans and friends from Australia and you
- 9:29Speaker 1: know we are working on coming to Australia as soon
- 9:35Speaker 1: as possible. So keep an eye to our social networks
- 9:38Speaker 1: because you know, everything could.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Happen before we let you go. Jadab, we've gone.
- 9:45Speaker 3: We've started a new segment where before I speak to you,
- 9:47Speaker 3: I go through your social media pages and I find
- 9:49Speaker 3: some photos from the band and I just want to
- 9:51Speaker 3: sort of talk a bit more about a couple of
- 9:53Speaker 3: these photos. So I found this one first. It's fun, Like,
- 10:02Speaker 3: what's it like playing in the snow and playing in
- 10:04Speaker 3: the cold and this start of the world in Australia.
- 10:07Speaker 2: We've got no idea.
- 10:08Speaker 3: But what's it like playing where it's so cold you
- 10:10Speaker 3: can't even go outside rugged up?
- 10:14Speaker 1: So this picture has been taken in Norway when we
- 10:18Speaker 1: were touring with Udo at the beginning of this year.
- 10:21Speaker 1: And you know, people that live in Scandinavia are very warm.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Despite of the weather, there is very cold and it
- 10:30Speaker 1: is a really exciting experience for us. It was our
- 10:35Speaker 1: first time actually in Norway and then in Finland, while
- 10:39Speaker 1: in Sweden we already been and as you can see,
- 10:43Speaker 1: we had a lot of fun. We were freezing, but
- 10:45Speaker 1: we really wanted to experience the true winter.
- 10:48Speaker 2: You know it looks like then I found this one
- 10:54Speaker 2: as well.
- 10:55Speaker 3: This is there's a lot of star musicians in one place.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, we were a rocking period and you
- 11:05Speaker 1: know the liner of the night were Kiss and before
- 11:09Speaker 1: them the Winery Dogs. So it was, how can I say,
- 11:15Speaker 1: a great opportunity to see those bands because we have
- 11:21Speaker 1: been fans with them, fans for them for for out
- 11:25Speaker 1: of years. You know, Kiss are a piece of history
- 11:28Speaker 1: and also port Noi you can see there from all
- 11:31Speaker 1: of its projects. We are very fans, especially you know,
- 11:35Speaker 1: of course our driver. You can see its face. It
- 11:42Speaker 1: has been great also because they have been extremely kind
- 11:46Speaker 1: and and and yes I'm sorry because it's it's it's
- 11:52Speaker 1: very small, it's very small. There is the singer, guitar player.
- 11:57Speaker 1: There another another extremely important guy for our information, especially
- 12:04Speaker 1: from Federico.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Very nice.
- 12:07Speaker 3: All right then, thanks very much, Fetime, It's been a
- 12:10Speaker 3: pleasure speaking with you. The album Warhearts is out October
- 12:13Speaker 3: eight eighth, and like I said, I'll listened to it
- 12:14Speaker 3: before this and really impressive effort mate, so hopefully gets
- 12:18Speaker 3: the attention it deserves.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Oh so, thank you very much, thank you for having
- 12:24Speaker 1: me here. And I'm really, I really hope that you
- 12:27Speaker 1: will enjoy the album. That's all of our listeners will.
- 12:31Speaker 1: We are very happy to share it with the world,
- 12:33Speaker 1: and of course we are looking forward to share it
- 12:35Speaker 1: in person in Australia as soon as possible.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Hopefully that happens very soon. But in the meantime, you
- 12:41Speaker 3: take care and best of luck on the tour.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Thank you very much, Thank you, take care and hope
- 12:47Speaker 1: to see you soon.
