- 0:16look forward to seeing you there. Well, hello, and welcome to a
- 0:37very special crossover episode between the six oh two Club and Aggressive Negotiations. So
- 0:45these will be coming at you live on the TFM network as well as the
- 0:50nerd Party network and with me in this first crossover. We can't believe we
- 0:56haven't done it before, Jedi Master John Mills, I could have sworn that
- 1:00we had. But at the same time, the six or two Club was
- 1:03the birthplace of Aggressive Negotiations quite literally, so true, you know it just
- 1:11maybe it just feels like, since they are are their cousins, basically that
- 1:17we did. But I guess not so cool, you know, all right,
- 1:22just right, it does, it does. It's like that song being
- 1:27reunited, and it feels so good, so absolutely absolutely well. Of course,
- 1:33you can find the networks all over the place on social media, you
- 1:36know, at track FM or at join nerd Party on ex Twitter. Of
- 1:42course, you can find both networks on Facebook, Facebook, dot com slash
- 1:46the nerd Party or Facebook dot com slash track Fm. Of course we're online
- 1:49at track fm as well as the Nerd Party, and of course you can
- 1:55find listeners only discussion group there called the Babel Conference for all the listeners there
- 1:59on TFM you can join and all sorts of things like that. But John,
- 2:04the reason that we are doing this incredible crossover episode for everyone is because,
- 2:09well, the final season of The Bad Batch has happened, and we
- 2:16have now seen the completion of this part of the story. And of course,
- 2:23you know, we don't know what's gonna come next, but my goodness,
- 2:28I just we'll get into it. We've got so much to talk about
- 2:32this season. But I wanted to ask you because so this is something that
- 2:38with the animated series it seems like they're doing more of, which is kind
- 2:43of allowing multiple episodes to air at one time, and especially with the beginning.
- 2:51In fact, they also did the same thing for Random or Right.
- 2:53You have three episodes drop at the beginning of that show, and so it's
- 2:58not just animation. So with season three, we had a massive opening of
- 3:04three episodes, and so much happens in those three episodes. Way more than
- 3:12I even could have imagined was going to happen, especially since you end up
- 3:17having Crosshair and Omega, you know, escape from Tantus. You have you
- 3:24know, meeting a new character like Batcher. You know, we meet some
- 3:32clone cadets, you know, on the mission that Hunter and Wrecker are on.
- 3:38And so it's just I got to ask you, what did you think
- 3:45of opening the season this way? Oh, it's definitely it was great,
- 3:51simply because it was all so good. But also it's a frustrating thing is
- 3:58that we're all still trying to find the balance between what's been you know,
- 4:02affectionately referred to as binge watching and this weekly release schedule. The weekly release
- 4:10schedule can be frustrating at times because you want more and you're forced to wait.
- 4:15And that's the way it used to always be, kids and blah blah
- 4:19anything else that those of us who remember broadcast TV being the only option could
- 4:26throw out there to everybody. But at the same time, you know,
- 4:30it's it's interesting because I think that it speaks to an idea that floats around
- 4:35in my brain every so often, that our collective fixation on formats being like
- 4:44between there's almost this binary brain freeze between us between thirty and sixty minutes for
- 4:51any episode of any show, and that's still tied to old broadcast mentality,
- 4:57And it's like, I would love them to give the creators the freedom to
- 5:00say, you know what, it's X amount of hours of runtime and do
- 5:05you know if you want to if you want to have like a two hour
- 5:09TV movie in the middle of the season, and then I mean, look
- 5:13at me falling into the half hour hour category again. But like if you
- 5:15want to throw something in there and you know, have episodes be wildly varying
- 5:19in length, that would be an experiment worth seeing. All of that to
- 5:23say, I was really grateful for the three episodes that were dropped at once,
- 5:26because this would have been a very difficult arc to be patient for to
- 5:32see where it was going, especially because I think that the very first opening
- 5:36notes of the first episode of the season were so incredibly well done to show
- 5:44the way that Omega was back in a life we had seen her in at
- 5:47the beginning of the first season. She was back to life as it was
- 5:53in a research facility with a camon Owen guiding her around with a bunch of
- 5:58clones. But we saw it demonstrated how different things were just in the short
- 6:04span of time between Camino and the Empire having control of the program, and
- 6:11that that I thought was just an absolutely brilliant way to kick it all off.
- 6:16Yeah, I completely agree with you. I think that, like you
- 6:21said, the juxtaposition of this season versus especially the first season when we first
- 6:29meet Omega and what her life is like. You know, you see the
- 6:33massive difference between you know, Camino under the Republic, you know, where
- 6:41they have freedom to do what they want. You know, there's freedom on
- 6:45the planet, and hear this complete imperial control hovering over everything and threatening everybody.
- 6:51I mean, you know the fact that you know, there's a complete
- 6:56difference in Naalssa, you know, who is destroying omega samples because she tells
- 7:01Omega that it's going to be dangerous for her if they find out what Naalsa
- 7:09knows about Omega. And we're going to find out throughout the season about Omega,
- 7:15and so I mean there's that. I mean, gosh, you even
- 7:18have one of the creepiest, scariest things happen, which is the Emperor visiting
- 7:24Tantis, which is of course the third episode of the season where they escape,
- 7:29Crosshair and Omega are able to escape. But in something that we've talked
- 7:34a lot about as we were walking through season two on Aggressive Negotiations was the
- 7:42idea of the way that Omega's character is continually growing throughout the seasons, and
- 7:50even in this first episode, I thought it was incredibly interesting to watch her
- 7:56as a character display these character traits that we know and love about her,
- 8:03but that are going to play throughout the entire rest of the season, and
- 8:05that are going to be driving her as a character. Right. You know,
- 8:09it's her loyalty, her ability to sympathize even with people who might be
- 8:15seen as an enemy, you know, and this comes specifically with that relationship
- 8:20with Batcher. You know, it also comes in her relationship with Emery.
- 8:26Right, the seeds are planted there for Emery's change, and all of that
- 8:31is done within these first three seasons. All of that is done within these
- 8:35first three episodes. And then on top of that, you have that Sandwich
- 8:39episode where you see just the insanity of the Advanced Science Division and what they've
- 8:52been up to, and basically they've created their own version of Jurassic Park run
- 8:58amuck with the slyther Von and like just almost the depravity that you see of
- 9:05that science division. Who has there isn't it's completely amoral. We're just going
- 9:13to try and do things to see if we can do things and if we
- 9:16can use it to our advantage. And then of course you tie that in
- 9:20with the Emperor visiting and it's just absolutely terrifying. Yeah. I mean the
- 9:26episode where you have the slyther vines are they are truly an invention worthy of
- 9:35Star Wars where this is that very classic Oh yeah, that makes sense that
- 9:41a creature like that would be something I would encounter pre nineteen seventy seven.
- 9:46I don't think anybody really thought up a Dianoga, but it has that very
- 9:50nineteen fifties science gone wrong vibe to it, where that's what's really enjoyable about
- 9:56it is it has that mad scientist flare and I think also speaks to something
- 10:01they have always had the decency to have as a running thread in Star Wars
- 10:09without being sloppy and blunt about it, which is the Empire subjugates people and
- 10:18it destroys nature. It destroys the beauty of anywhere. This is a beautiful,
- 10:26verdant planet. The Empire shows up and turns it into monster World and
- 10:31then just leaves. It's like, eh, you know it's broken, that's
- 10:33fine, We'll leave it there. And now for all time, anybody that
- 10:39happens to be, oh, hey, here's a planet I'm gonna go check
- 10:41out, they're gonna get eaten by slyther vines. Like it's such a toss
- 10:46off sort of thing where it's like, how would you even fix something like
- 10:48that? And you know, because I love to crack jokes, you almost
- 10:52think the Death Star did serve a utilitarian purpose where you know, there were
- 10:56planets like with slyther vines on them, and the Emperor was like, you
- 10:58know, really, actually only way to take care of this, so you
- 11:01know, we'll destroy the rebellion. Then we've got to go around and wipe
- 11:05up our old projects. One of the things, of course as well,
- 11:07that we've talked about many times on Aggressive Negotiations, and of course years we've
- 11:13talked about Star Wars, which is, you know, this idea of the
- 11:16way in which especially the animation has always utilized the different genres and different movies
- 11:22and stories that we've seen in different films and everything, and kind of playing
- 11:26with those ideas and there's just so much of the beauty of like the Jurassic
- 11:31Park type of motif in that, you know, it's like they took these
- 11:35vines and crossed it with a sarlac to create this you know, hideous monster
- 11:43right that you can't then control, that you thought you can control. And
- 11:48so yeah, I mean, like, I think there's just something so beautiful
- 11:52about that. And then of course, you know, with this big opening
- 11:56too, we all know as fans, even though the characters don't know,
- 12:01you know, we realize the Emperor is visiting Tantis to understand where these experiments
- 12:07are going needing m count and of course we all know what that means.
- 12:13In fact, not only do we know what that means, but we actually
- 12:16see the testing that's happening, right, and it's the exact same test that
- 12:22you saw happening in episode one. It's the exact same look of the test
- 12:26on the screen as what we saw in episode one. And so we get
- 12:33a better sense than of where this entire season is going to go, which
- 12:37is, okay, there's all these clones at Tantas, but we've also got
- 12:41exactly what they're looking for, which is, you know, of course the
- 12:46connection all the way through to the sequel trilogy, but also throwing in there
- 12:52again without being clumsy or sloppy or blunt about it, answering the question of
- 13:00well, why don't you just create clone Jedi? And everybody's always had their
- 13:05sort of theories about it, and we'll all hold on to our theories,
- 13:09but here it is basically answered. It's like, Eh, the Midiclorians don't
- 13:11like that, so it's like, oh, well, yeah, okay,
- 13:13that's a fair point. Like it's the one thing I struggled with, actually
- 13:20that I want to throw at you, is they keep referring to m count
- 13:22because nobody would know what Amdicchlorian was outside of the Jedi, right. Do
- 13:28you think they did a good enough job for tying it together to Midichlorian because
- 13:35we hear the word Midichlorian once? I think, do you think they do
- 13:39a good enough job of outlining or I'm sorry, laying out what m count
- 13:46means, what it truly means to the characters and to the storyline. I'm
- 13:54not gonna buias you giving you my own answer, but I'm curious, like,
- 13:56do you think there was because there were people that complained about it?
- 13:58Do you think think that there was enough of a dot between A and B,
- 14:03you know, a line between point A and point B. It's a
- 14:05great question, and I'm glad you asked it, because I think that if
- 14:09there's one thing that the season doesn't do well enough, is that I think
- 14:16it should have just come out and set it, and I think that there
- 14:20should have been even greater connections made in the sense of just stop beating around
- 14:28the bush about it and just say it outright, you know what exactly because
- 14:35at this point, you know, when the Emperor and Hemlock are talking,
- 14:39they're not going to be talking in code. They're talking together in a secure
- 14:43location about this project and a place that nobody in the galaxy can find at
- 14:48this moment. And so I also was a little bit perturbed that we actually
- 14:54never saw what was in the pods in that room. I felt like there
- 15:01just didn't seem to be a reason to hide that. Now. I'm sure
- 15:07that in some way we probably got maybe something else, We're going to get
- 15:11more information, but it just seemed as though like they were holding back,
- 15:16and I couldn't quite understand exactly why they were holding back. And because you
- 15:22know, again we mentioned right this connects with Project Necromancer. We've already heard
- 15:26about Project Necromancer in the Mandalorian. We know that that was what they were
- 15:31working on with Baby Yoda, right, and that you had oh, what's
- 15:39his name, maf Gideon trying to do the same thing that the Emperor had
- 15:46been doing. But we also saw that scene where Brenda Hawks has been working
- 15:50on this idea, right, you know, so there's this connection, this
- 15:54thread running through and you know, I thought it was fascinating, but I
- 16:03also felt like, and I gotta ask you this question in reference to Project
- 16:07Netcromancer. I just felt like them beating around the bush about Omega's m count
- 16:12was something that was slightly frustrating for me as well, because obviously they allude
- 16:19to the fact that she does have a relatively hot she has to have a
- 16:27very special m count for this to work, for her to be so special,
- 16:36I see. I like that that is not stated outright because of the
- 16:41fact that it leaves in question about what that means for her future, because
- 16:51either she was genetically manipulated in such a way that it makes it possible for
- 16:56her cells to except somebody else's midiclorians, which you know, maybe that ties
- 17:04into in terms of the m count thing, I think that yes, it
- 17:10would have made more sense for the Emperor and Hemlock to have said it more
- 17:15outright. I don't mind not seeing what's in the pods, but that you
- 17:19know, one of my favorite films is pulp fiction. What's in the briefcase
- 17:23doesn't matter. It's tied to why everybody's running around right now. And I
- 17:30like the idea of leaving it open the name necromancer, knowing they're messing with
- 17:34mediclorians. What I would have. What I would hope they will do,
- 17:38whether it's in a book or another series, is show us at some point,
- 17:44maybe in Tales of the Empire season two, free story pitch guys,
- 17:49that we find out they attempted to do this sort of experiment on dead Jedi,
- 17:56because after all, where the Midiclorians, the Mediclorians are in them,
- 18:00so maybe we can extract from a dead Jedi and you find out nope,
- 18:03no, dice can't do it. And as a result, like that gives
- 18:08a little more shading to it because you have all these you know, Jedi
- 18:12you're hunting down and killing. Did they try to take their cells and and
- 18:18and mess around with them, sure well. And and I think you know,
- 18:22one of the things too that just on this whole idea of Project Necromancer.
- 18:29One of the things that I think I pieced together that was really interesting
- 18:37was the fact that you know, we know that Emery and Omega or sisters,
- 18:42and to get the feeling that the that Emery is possibly just a failed
- 18:48experiment in what they were trying to create with Omega, because she says,
- 18:52you know, I was I was at another location and then you know,
- 18:56doctor Hemlock found me and brought me under his wing, and so you get
- 19:00this idea that you know, she was kind of discarded in some ways because
- 19:07the Cominoans didn't need her, she didn't achieve what they wanted, and therefore,
- 19:12you know, somebody else picks her up and utilizes her for their benefit.
- 19:18And so I thought that was really fascinating. And it's another thing where
- 19:21I almost wish that there had been a little bit more on, because you
- 19:23know, I feel like as much as we learn about Omega and her connection
- 19:30to Project Necromancer, I do feel like there's a thousand other questions about her
- 19:37and in all of this that I would have loved to have just had a
- 19:41little bit more on, mainly because you know, I just find it to
- 19:45be so utterly fascinating and this, you know, just her creation, who
- 19:52she is, all of that stuff. So yeah, but let me offer
- 19:55this one counterpoint is that I enjoy a little bit of mystery left. I'm
- 20:00not saying that makes me better or blah blah blah. I'm not anything like
- 20:03that. I'm saying that The one box that this season, this show manages
- 20:11to avoid are the fan arguments about the explanations. Every time Star Wars has
- 20:18tried to explain something very clearly, it causes this hideous fracture in the fan
- 20:26base, especially an online discourse. If they'd come out and bluntly said something
- 20:30about what made Omega so so much more special, we'd never heard the end
- 20:34of it. We'd still be hearing about it, and then in twenty five
- 20:37years people would still be complaining about what they had a problem, Like it's
- 20:41just like a so I'm I'm actually kind of happy that they were, Like,
- 20:45I know Omega's special. I know that she has something to do with
- 20:48the way her cells can accept midichlorians in experiments, or the way hers can
- 20:55transmit Like, you know, she's the key. She's Omega, She's the
- 21:00of it all, and leaving her future open actually leaves me more hopeful that
- 21:07we'll get another Omega series at some point, or get her in a series
- 21:11at some point. I'd love to see her show up in live action in
- 21:15the Ahsoka era. That would be fascinating to me. But you know,
- 21:23all that being said, you know all that being said, I think that
- 21:30what we really need to not let go of is the fact that her empathy
- 21:37is really what makes her incredibly special, Like you were saying with Batcher and
- 21:42with cross Hair, because cross Hair is the ultimate pessimist, Batcher is basically
- 21:49a hunting dog, and Omega gets through to both of them and melts their
- 21:56hearts and they both love her. And it's like that that thing. While
- 22:02we can sit there and we can go back and forth about m counts and
- 22:04what makes her genetics so special and all of that type of stuff, what
- 22:08actually makes Omega special is her empathy and her love for others, and her
- 22:15willingness to sacrifice and be there, Like those are actually the things of the
- 22:19most importantly special things about Omega, especially throughout this season. Yeah, well,
- 22:26and I think you know you touched on something that is really important to
- 22:29the season, which is the idea of putting this unlikely pair together. And
- 22:33I think what's beautiful is the way in which she, like the other clones
- 22:40the time that she's spent with them, she slowly changes Crosshair by her actions,
- 22:47by just being her, and in fact, she brings out the best
- 22:51in all of the clones that she gets to know. And that's what's really
- 22:56beautiful is to watch her play into Crosshair's redemption arc and what he's willing to
- 23:02do for her because of what she was willing to do for him, even
- 23:07when he kind of hated her, you know. And I just found that
- 23:11to be such a beautiful picture of Grace completely unmerited favor, and it's it's
- 23:22really really beautiful. And I think it's the kind of thing where, you
- 23:26know, the world just needs more of these type of stories and more characters
- 23:33like Omega and playing against characters like Crosshair, and it made it a really
- 23:40moving season. Then, you know, to get to the end to see
- 23:44what he was willing to do then for her, the fact that he's willing
- 23:48to lose, you know, his shooting hand, the fact that he's willing
- 23:52to do whatever it takes to get her back and make sure she's safe.
- 23:57It. I mean, I know I'm gushing, but it's one of those
- 24:02things even though I'm thinking about it. You know, this show is always
- 24:04so good at I think in the Star Wars animation is always so good at
- 24:10getting to getting you to a place that you get emotional about the characters that
- 24:15you're watching on screen. And that was the best part of putting Omega and
- 24:21Crosshair together so much of this season. Yeah, I don't know what I
- 24:26can add to that, honestly. I mean, we all know Recor is
- 24:30my emotional favorite, but cross Hair. You know, I'm gonna say something
- 24:34a little weird, but Crosshair what I think makes him super relatable for any
- 24:40of us who have been through working at a place that gets acquired by someplace
- 24:47else. Right, I've you know, I've worked at least two places that
- 24:52got bought by someplace else, and you know you had that whole thing of
- 24:56like it does turn you cynical, like even more cynical if you were a
- 25:00cynic to be like, meet the new boss worse than the old boss,
- 25:03or you know, everything's changed, and it's like it's nice to see Crosshair
- 25:08discover a sense of, you know, just a sense of hope and additionally
- 25:21a sense of this is the guy where, if you go all the way
- 25:23back to the first season, was the most rugged of the entire batch.
- 25:30He was always the one that was gonna be like, well, if they're
- 25:33wounded too badly, we got to move on sort of thing. And instead
- 25:38he's moved in this season to a character that is willing to sacrifice himself and
- 25:45like you said, lose his hand, like lose so much just for the
- 25:49sake of her of love for someone else. And I mean, it's nice
- 26:00to see cross Hair finally become one of the parents for Omega, right,
- 26:04yeah, I think, yeah, I love you that you mentioned that too,
- 26:07And it's something that I didn't even have, you know, here on
- 26:11our topics of conversation outline, just so we could try and not miss things
- 26:15because we're talking about an entire season. But you know, I think that
- 26:18that's also something that is incredibly beautiful about the season as well. You know,
- 26:23this this really is a show about space dads. And I think the
- 26:32fact that you have Wrecker and you have Hunter and you have cross Hair,
- 26:38who are these father figures to Omega? In different ways, right, It
- 26:47is really beautiful. And the beauty of it too is that you take these
- 26:52characters who were legitimately just made for one thing, and it plays back all
- 27:00the way back to that Clone Wars episode the Deserter, right where you had
- 27:04the Clone who deserted because he didn't believe in the war, and then he
- 27:10falls in love and he has kids, and so you see this ability of
- 27:15these characters to do that, and then you have these i mean the ultimate
- 27:21warriors, you know, and they find themselves in a position where they can't
- 27:27help themselves but to fall in love with this child who's been put in their
- 27:36care, and then, like any good father, be willing to do anything
- 27:41and everything it meant to keep that child safe. And I think that that
- 27:48is also a really incredible story because there are too many times on television where
- 27:56fathers are discounted or shown to be kind of like do or whatever. And
- 28:00I think that this show really speaks to the importance of fatherhood into the lives
- 28:07of children. And I think even especially you know, within pact that they
- 28:12can have on their daughters. And I found that to be incredibly beautiful in
- 28:15this series, Oh for sure. I mean The thing that I think is
- 28:23also an interesting sort of meta read of the season is, in a lot
- 28:30of ways, I think that the older fan base of Star Wars, we're
- 28:38all at that age where, if we're not parents directly, we have younger
- 28:42people in our lives that we interact with that we we're mentoring or we're you
- 28:48know, trying to get them going on their own path and everything, And
- 28:52there's this sort of meta read where we can project ourselves onto the Batch as
- 28:57parents or parental figures or mentors. But then at the same time there's a
- 29:03sense to me of Omega as the fans themselves and the Bats sort of representing
- 29:11and stay with me. I know this sounds crazy, but this season,
- 29:17especially when taken in total of all three of the Bad Batch seasons, feels
- 29:22like this this love letter to our own childhoods in the sense that we had
- 29:33as one of the big influences in our lives through pop culture and everything was
- 29:40not just Star Wars but the Clone Wars, and so there's this sense of
- 29:47almost like giving us a pat on the back and saying, hey, we
- 29:49tried our best to do what you expected of us, to show you something
- 29:56to think about, something to care about something, to help bring out something
- 30:00in you that's special and show you what's great about human connection and love and
- 30:10empathy. And I know, maybe it's too deep. I don't know.
- 30:14I mean, And at the same thing, there's always that school of thought
- 30:17where it's like the artist doesn't even necessarily need to make the specific intent be
- 30:22that, but you can still get to a place with that. And it's
- 30:26I just I see this season very much in more of that meta sense of
- 30:33especially with the way it ends. It's like, Hey, we had a
- 30:37great time, didn't we, But you know this chapter is over now,
- 30:41Like this really is the coda to the Clone Wars. And I don't mean
- 30:47just the show, I mean the entire era of Star Wars. It's like,
- 30:51okay, kid, we got there. Now we've got to go on
- 30:53and find some new territory and do some different stuff. We've had a great
- 30:57time. Yeah, I don't think that's too deep at all. In fact,
- 31:03I think that in many ways you're one hundred percent right, because you
- 31:07know, the whole thrust of this show not only being about dads, but
- 31:12it was just about the Clones themselves, the characters that everybody fell in love
- 31:18with, and didn't expect to. You know, I don't think anybody came
- 31:22into the Clone Wars series thinking that clones might be some of their favorite characters,
- 31:27you know, whether it was Rex or Wolf or you know Hunter or
- 31:34you know Wrecker, all these characters, right, all of these clones that
- 31:38we meet throughout the series. And the fact that you know Cody, you
- 31:45know, we never really got to know Cody until the Clone Wars because he
- 31:48was barely in episode three, right, And so I think you're right in
- 31:53many ways, this helps us put to rest a lot of that time period.
- 32:00And you know, it's obvious that they could revisit it as they and
- 32:05we'll talk about soon Tales of the Empire where we see some stories that have
- 32:10pieces of that but or you know, they did it and tells the Jedi
- 32:15too. So I think your read is actually spot on in that way.
- 32:21And I think that that's one of the things that makes you know, as
- 32:25we'll talk about later, that the code of work. And so I did
- 32:30want to ask you because one of the fun parts about this series is the
- 32:34way that we return to things. You know, we not only return to
- 32:37things from the first and second seasons of the series, but we do from
- 32:45the Clone Wars, right, you know, and we have characters too as
- 32:49well. So you know, we go back to Barton four where Crosshair made
- 32:53that decision to shoot the Imperial officer to make the switch, where he's finally
- 33:00been broken enough to realize the Empire is not the way to go. You
- 33:05know, we returned to Tef. That's one of Rex's bases, we see.
- 33:09I was so happy to see Tef again, right, I mean yes,
- 33:15And you know, we we get characters back, like you know,
- 33:20Fennick Shan comes back. We have Cad Baine come back, you know.
- 33:23So I think one of the things that I really loved about this this season,
- 33:28and I think I just love about the Bad Batch series as a whole,
- 33:32is they just weren't afraid to utilize all of the material that has been
- 33:39there throughout the Clone Wars and too when it's it's the right thing to do
- 33:47to use it, Like I mean, going back to Barton four and having
- 33:52Crosshair be at the place where he made the turn and that be the place
- 33:54where he earns back his his crew's trust was huge, you know. I
- 34:01mean, also we also we got you know, Star Wars space Worms,
- 34:07so you know who knew that ice worms were the thing, not not sandworms,
- 34:12ice worms. Hey, all things, all things work, you know,
- 34:19yeah, again the going back to and you and I hit on this
- 34:23plenty, I think in all of our discussions over time. You know,
- 34:28when you look at it as a total but you're right, this is a
- 34:32saga. This is a big saga. And you know that you're in good
- 34:39hands when the people telling the stories don't feel the compulsion to say, oh,
- 34:45well, we've already done that, so we're gonna walk away. It's
- 34:49like, no, you're here in the toy box. Use some of these
- 34:52toys. You'll add toys, you'll get new toys. But it's okay.
- 34:58You don't throw out all of your old toys when you get a new toy.
- 35:01If we did, I wouldn't have half the things on my bookshelf right
- 35:04now, right But like you know, you know it is. It is
- 35:08one of those things though, where it's like you know, and honestly to
- 35:13keep to keep the metaphor going, like some of those old toys are some
- 35:16of your favorite toys. It doesn't matter how new and shiny the thing is,
- 35:20exactly and so even if the even if the newer toy that comes in
- 35:23the toy box isn't your favorite, You're like, yeah, but if I
- 35:27pair them up with Boba Fete, it works better, and that's okay.
- 35:30And it's a way to start accepting that new stuff into the boxes, you
- 35:35know, to get it to mix with the things that you already loved well.
- 35:39And I you know, we've talked about this on aggressive negotiations in some
- 35:45ways add nauseum. But the way in which you know, by doing these
- 35:50things, by returning to these places, by having these characters show back up,
- 35:52you know, what the animated series are becoming to Star Wars is the
- 35:59thing that helps bind the saga together and make it more cohesive. I mean,
- 36:07we talked at length here about Project Necromancer, right, and that's a
- 36:13huge part obviously of the you know, part nine of the saga. It's
- 36:22not a thing we all loved, right, And yet what they're doing through
- 36:25these animated series, by bringing up these stories and making it feel more cohesive,
- 36:32is ameliorating some of those frustrations that we've had with specifically the sequel trilogy,
- 36:39right. But it's making also what's happening in these shows incredibly interesting too.
- 36:45You know, it's not just about trying to get things to connect.
- 36:50You know. It's done in a way to which I almost don't even care
- 36:54if it connects. It does, it's brilliant, it's wonderful. But what
- 36:58it's doing for the story here is I think what makes things so special.
- 37:00And so when we get to go back to a place like Barton four,
- 37:05we get to go back to Teth, you know, we have these characters
- 37:08come back and where like you said, we're playing in the toy box.
- 37:14You know, in some ways I remember our first It's episode with Nick Anastasio
- 37:20and I believe the episode in the six oh two Club is called boys playing
- 37:23with Toys And that's kind of what these animated shows and you are alluding to
- 37:30feel like, right, it is creators just playing with the toy box of
- 37:36Star Wars in a way that feels authentic to the series. So it fits,
- 37:43and that's what we love about this stuff. That is what we love
- 37:46about this stuff, and it I think it also just it just makes it
- 37:52makes it work so much better as well. When when characters, when you
- 37:58have a Rex come in in a way it's almost like you know, when
- 38:05you're learning your way around a town or something. You get these reference points,
- 38:08and it's nice to have the reference points. It's nice to have Rex.
- 38:13It's nice even even though it seemed to be a little bit controversial to
- 38:17have Ventest show up, because Okay, she looks different and her sabers different.
- 38:25So if I didn't read Dark Disciple, this is just oh Venturess made
- 38:30it through. If I did read Dark Disciple, I'm saying to everybody,
- 38:35now hold on a minute here, that's weird. I need a little more.
- 38:39But it's still a touch base. It's like, Okay, this is
- 38:44in relation to this character being being here, and even within the series,
- 38:51having Rampart come back that was such an unexpected treat for me. I never
- 38:57expected to see Rampart again and to have him come back and have him be
- 39:01this still a jackass while being a little bit of comic relief, necessary comic
- 39:10relief in a very heavy arc. I really liked it. Like I actually
- 39:15laughed out loud with him when they were talking about, you know, ditching
- 39:22him or whatever, and you just hear him from all screen, go,
- 39:24I can hear you, Like there's just yes. That's one of those great
- 39:31moments where it's like, oh, that's just so organic that feels right,
- 39:37and I never expected to see him again and I was happy to see him
- 39:42again, and it's like, but it's it's it's just one of those things
- 39:49where with Ventures, I'm curious to you because I saw her appearance serving a
- 40:00very massively important role in the season without even saying it outright, but her
- 40:07appearance re explains how the just go ahead and call him super Clone shows up
- 40:17in another badass ship design is able to sneak in Venturous establishes how it's possible
- 40:24to sneak on to Paboo that anybody knowing, and I don't draw attention to
- 40:29it. And then but we know when we see the other you know,
- 40:32when we see the threat show up, it was like, oh, oh
- 40:36right, nobody knows about that place. Oh okay. You know you'd think
- 40:42maybe you'd have boarded it up after Ventures showed up, but hey, that's
- 40:46just me. Yeah, you know, I think the beauty of this was,
- 40:53especially with Venturess returning, what I really appreciate is that they did come
- 41:01out and say, we are not here to contradict what was done in Dark
- 41:08Disciple. Specifically, you know the way that they have with other books,
- 41:12like you know, they have contradicted the Ahsoka book and some other things.
- 41:16You know, they've also contradicted the Canaan comics that had come out, things
- 41:22like that. But they specifically said, we plan somewhere else to tell the
- 41:30story. It's going to come. You just need to be patient. But
- 41:34for here, this was not the place to do that, right, and
- 41:38so we And that's I think where in some ways Star Wars is therefore then
- 41:45taking a page from the comics of this character shows up in this comic,
- 41:52but the way and why they're showing up in the sense of like I thought
- 41:55they were there and you know that's not that storytell you know, and so
- 42:01understanding what story you're trying to tell and not getting caught in, oh,
- 42:06we've got to explain everything is we kind of talked about earlier. Sometimes it's
- 42:09better not to and but I appreciate that they just kind of head on said,
- 42:15hey, we know all the fans, we know you're freaking out,
- 42:19and look, we know how she returned and why and how all that goes
- 42:25down. This just wasn't the place to tell that story, but it was
- 42:30the place to utilize her here, which again, when you think back to
- 42:36who she was in the Clone Wars, right, she had become kind of
- 42:42this ronan and I think that's fascinating that in some ways she's still kind of
- 42:50playing that role after what happened in Dark Disciple, which is incredibly interesting,
- 42:55and I do think makes for a place where I mean, I don't know
- 43:01about you, but I find myself on the edge of my seat proverbially waiting
- 43:07for the story of what happened, and you know how she is able to
- 43:12survive. Yes, And as a final note on Ventures, I will say
- 43:19that it shows again the wisdom of the people who created this series, because
- 43:27the lazy choice would be obi Wan showing up to give an explanation, or
- 43:34somehow somebody knows Yoda or Ahsoka showing up. Any of those are expected at
- 43:40this point. Venturess showing up brings Ventures back in shows the way that basically
- 43:50opens up that there's still all of these Force users out there, it's just
- 43:57not as many, it's not as welcome, and they go to ground because
- 44:00they know that the Emperor will either capture and kill or torture and pervert them.
- 44:09And so that's why they're very difficult to find and why it seems like
- 44:14they're extinct, is because they know the minute they stick their toe out their
- 44:17toast. But having Ventures show up really does open up the universe in the
- 44:24sense that it says definitively there's more than just a few Jedi that made it
- 44:30past. They're out there and she's one of them. And so you know,
- 44:36the storytelling possibilities from that are actually magnified. Yeah. Well, and
- 44:42the beauty of that too, you know, we just and we'll talk about
- 44:46it very soon here Tales of the Empire with the idea of the Inquisitors.
- 44:52That's why they were needed, right, is there were enough the Jedi that
- 44:57survive, and that's their job is to help Vader hunt down these Jedi.
- 45:02And so, you know, again, having Ventures return was great. I
- 45:07think two, there was a genius of having Rampart return because he was such
- 45:14a major part of those first two seasons and so you know, to have
- 45:21him come back and be the character who you know, thinks he can utilize
- 45:24this for his benefit and be the person who in some ways represents the character
- 45:31who is completely unable to change, right, he has every opportunity to be
- 45:37able to change. In fact, Crossair keeps telling him he should because the
- 45:40Empire doesn't care about him. You know, they'll kill him at a moment's
- 45:45notice, and so he will never truly be free if he's trying to get
- 45:52his way back into the good graces of the Empire, and yet he's just
- 45:54a character who just can't accept it, and so having him return like interest,
- 46:00I just thought was in some ways almost like the Chef's Kiss of the
- 46:06season, where we're really doing things that just once you see it, you're
- 46:09like, oh, that makes so much sense. And I wouldn't have wanted
- 46:13it to be any other way. And one thing though, I do have
- 46:16to ask you John moment of silence MM for the Marauder. Not fair,
- 46:25not not fair. It's not not fair. Don't don't do this to me,
- 46:32man, this is not cool. Okay, it's not. I was
- 46:37like, are you kidding me? We did it to the Razorcrest, and
- 46:40now we're doing it to the Marauder. This hurt worse than Razorcrest. Razorcrest
- 46:45was just a nifty looking ship that I liked because it was tied to the
- 46:47Mandalorian this. I truly love the Marauders design, the fact that it looked
- 46:53like a Camono and saber Dart. The fact that it was our John I
- 47:00never thought of that. I wish I could take sole credit. I think
- 47:05somebody else pointed it out to me, and I saw it and I was
- 47:07like, oh, my gosh, you're right. But the simple fact that
- 47:12I truly loved that ship and that ship design and everything, and they took
- 47:19it from me, Matty, they took her from me. In all honesty,
- 47:24it was like, uh, it was it was as if I'm not
- 47:29gonna go crazy and be like, oh, they blew up the Millennium Falcon,
- 47:30because that that would be that I'm rioting in the streets for weeks after
- 47:36that happened, exactly. But this would have been like watching uh you know,
- 47:43honestly, it's like watching like Luke's X Wing get blown apart or something
- 47:47like that, where it's like, what you can't do? No, Seriously,
- 48:00we're watching the episodes together as we're watching through the season, and when
- 48:07they blew up the Marauder, there was an audible gasp and something along the
- 48:13lines of oh no, no, not the Marauder, Like that was my
- 48:20reaction, and you know it, what's you know, I think what's really
- 48:25actually kind of beautiful about it is the way in which you know they weren't
- 48:32going to kill and they've talked about that. I've seen the the some interviews
- 48:38with the with the showrunner and everything here for the Bad Batch and them talking
- 48:44about the you know they weren't going to kill another character. But I think
- 48:47that the beauty of these ships, especially a ship like the Marauder, you
- 48:53can lose that ship and it really does create the feeling that you need to
- 49:04have of losing a crew member and the stakes right and you know, again,
- 49:14I give them full credit for you know, being willing to do that.
- 49:17And in some ways too, it almost makes sense because where these characters
- 49:22are going to go by the end of the season is they're going to choose
- 49:30to let go of this life, and losing the Marauder is a way and
- 49:36it's a stepping stone to that because what matters at this point is Omega And
- 49:43so you know, I just love that. God we got to talk about
- 49:46the finale, man, because I mean, we get Zillowbeast Action, we
- 49:52get a bunch of c X clones, zombie clones going after are our normy
- 49:59clone and the Bad Batch. Uh, you know, we get Hemlock dying
- 50:04not less, say, protecting the Caminoan legacy by destroying research, we get
- 50:08money going to Project Stardust. I mean, this finale is jam packed full
- 50:16of goodness all the way down to and I almost feel like, you know,
- 50:21working backwards, but all the way down to the fact that when Tarkan
- 50:24shows up, it's two venitors and then like a straight on star destroyer,
- 50:30just showing that little another little nudge that the fleet's changing a little more again
- 50:37because he got the best, you know, like he's fresh off the line
- 50:40man, fresh off the line, but it's got that new ship smell.
- 50:45Yeah. But the fact that they show up, there's all of this devastation.
- 50:55There's a zilobeest loose. Now there's basically the Zillobees turns this planet into
- 51:02fine world. What are you going to do? Somebody's gonna be flying along
- 51:07some day and they're like, oh, look, this is a nice little
- 51:09planet. Let me said to oh dear, oh my gosh, what is
- 51:13that thing? Right? But there is I think this beauty to everything as
- 51:20well, because we know that Hemlock even admits that the Camanoans knew the secret.
- 51:28The Camanoans in a large sense are like the Darth Plagis of science in
- 51:32this and Hemlock is the Palpatine. Where they're chasing after this thing that the
- 51:42true master of the art figured out, and they're chasing it and they're greedy
- 51:47for it, and they're taking shortcuts and they're not patient enough. And much
- 51:55like Leagas dying before or all of the secrets got to Palpatine, now,
- 52:04let's say makes sure that basically, if she's gonna go out, everything's going
- 52:10with her. And this is the end of any of your hopes of pull
- 52:17off Project Necromancer any time between now and five years from now. Right,
- 52:22it builds in again the idea of why does it take so long for Palpatine
- 52:30even to get close to cloning himself? Well, guess what that's why?
- 52:36Because it goes up here and Tarken, as much as we love him as
- 52:40a villain, we come back to this whole idea of he's also a self
- 52:45serving bureaucrat. Oh, look at all of this destruction. There's a zillobeast
- 52:51out all right, decommission the place and send all of his funding to my
- 52:54project. And it's like, ah, like there's not even a curiosity there's
- 53:01no desire to carry the work on. There's nothing, And in a sense
- 53:06that's like again it shows where Palpatine's miscalculation with these people that he uses against
- 53:12each other screws him up again. He needed another Hemlock to be like,
- 53:17no, no, no, no no, we have to continue the work.
- 53:20We will pick up where we left off. We have some backed up
- 53:22data records and I know what I was thinking and all of those sorts of
- 53:24things. Hemlock's death and the loss of the research is a massive death blow,
- 53:32and I was glad to see it. But the like I loved the
- 53:38minute that Omega was trying to find out how to sneak out of the place
- 53:43and she saw the zilobast. My reaction was like, oh, oh you're
- 53:46going to aren't you? Okay, all right, I'm here for this,
- 53:51like I was, so I was like, I know what's coming next.
- 53:53There's no way you show me a zilobast and you don't checkof' zilobeast. There
- 53:59you go. Well, no, I could could not agree with you more.
- 54:02I think I think the beauty of the way in which this whole season
- 54:12really shows off the hubris of the Empire already, and the cracks that are
- 54:17forming, like you said, the fact that Tarkian is a self serving bureaucrat.
- 54:28You know, that's the thing about Hemlock is a villain right in him
- 54:32being destroyed here. He's one of the few people, I think who truly
- 54:40bought in in some ways to what Palpatine wanted to do in a way that
- 54:45Palpatine needed desperately. And he doesn't have that beyond here, you know,
- 54:51and we don't know where the connection to you know, the strange Seth planet
- 55:00in episode nine comes in and how all that works, you know, yeah,
- 55:06exagal and so, but it also makes sense as to why, like
- 55:14you said, all of this ends up taking too long, because somebody like
- 55:16Tarkan could care less, Like he just cares about raw power. He's not
- 55:21into the old religion, you know, he doesn't have that old time religion,
- 55:29right and so because he could care less, And so I love that
- 55:34and I think too, you know. The finale has Emery finally making the
- 55:38choice, you know, and helping to save the children and taking them away,
- 55:43and then her desire then to help Echo with the clones, you know,
- 55:49as they try to save as many as they can which, Gosh,
- 55:52I want that story, you know, I think that would make an incredible
- 55:54story to see her go on and do that, and you know, all
- 55:59of the Again, I think the beauty of watching Nallis say, who truly
- 56:07was seemed to be a scientist of the highest caliber, who had incredible knowledge
- 56:17right and realized that her knowledge could destroy the galaxy, and then was willing
- 56:25to not pursue that knowledge but try and keep it from doing that was awesome,
- 56:31you know. I mean again, I think there's a lot of kind
- 56:35of Jurassic Park in there, you know, that type of understanding of,
- 56:38you know, what we can do with science. Sometimes it's not worth creating.
- 56:43Sometimes it's not worth doing because the the what it can do could lead
- 56:47to ultimate destruction, you know. And so I love that. Uh And
- 56:52then I'm dude. The epilogue just so epically perfect to me. To have
- 57:05had these space dads raise their daughter in safety so that she then has the
- 57:14ability to make her own choices. She has the freedom to make her own
- 57:19choices, and then allow their daughter to make that choice was just so beautiful.
- 57:25I could not have been happier with the way that the epilogue worked in
- 57:32this episode. Tremendous. It's the only word. That's the smallest word I
- 57:39could give to that epilogue, because it was the whole point. That was
- 57:45the whole point, and just seeing Hunter and I'm glad the choice was to
- 57:52have it just be Hunter there because he's you know, he's the chief dad
- 57:58basically, but to have him, you know, to have him be there
- 58:05and convey it to her, and it's you know, I'm I'm of an
- 58:08age, I'm of a stage where soon I'll be facing that same sort of
- 58:15moment I am. I'm not so big as to deny that that was a
- 58:22pretty that was a pretty emotional, emotionally resonant scene, because I know it's
- 58:29coming, and it's like the idea that after everything they did, she's going
- 58:37to go run off and join the rebellion to be a pilot and the risk
- 58:42that's inherent in that, and they have no choice but to say, okay,
- 58:47right, she can't stay there forever. And I'll go ahead and say
- 58:52it's interesting because Uncle Owen does everything he can top Luke on Tatoine, and
- 59:02these dads say, hey, you know, we can't live life for you
- 59:09anymore. You have to live life for yourself and we we did everything we
- 59:15could to make you ready for it. Like that's that's a heavy thing,
- 59:19man, That's a big, big moment. And it frustrates me that the
- 59:29only place in Star Wars right now, right now, at this moment,
- 59:36where I'm getting those types of moments, truly getting them, is in animation.
- 59:43And that's not to take anything away from the emotionally resonant moments in Ahsoka
- 59:46Ahsoka. Ahsoka gets there at a couple of points, but this one,
- 59:52this one was like a just an absolute gut punch, because again, I
- 59:57think it even ties back into that larger like meta read of the series where
- 1:00:00it's like it's you know what it is, I'm gonna pay this the highest
- 1:00:06compliment I can. This is this cave discussion was the equivalent of Hawkeye at
- 1:00:15the end of mash going up after he's he's given bj honeycut a whole time
- 1:00:23of saying why can't you say goodbye? Right and the helicopter pulls away.
- 1:00:29You see that his friend of all of these years wrote out goodbye in the
- 1:00:34stones on the you know, on the helicopter pad. That was that was
- 1:00:42this and this was that where it was like it was that that moment where
- 1:00:45you suddenly realize, oh my gosh, yeah, goodbye, you know,
- 1:00:52and it's like I gotta let you go now. Oh so heavy man.
- 1:00:57No. I think that's an incredible pull. And I love that you two
- 1:01:02with these two characters. You let Dee Bradley Baker and you let Michelle Onng
- 1:01:08play this older version of the characters and to really give them, in some
- 1:01:16ways that kind of resolution, right that you know that they've been safe for
- 1:01:22so long, you know that they've been happy for so long. You know
- 1:01:25that in the beauty of this too, we don't answer the question, right,
- 1:01:30we don't know when she goes to join the rebellion, which is great.
- 1:01:36We don't know what the time period is. You know, it could
- 1:01:40be kind of anywhere. It could be during rebels, it could be during
- 1:01:46some point of and or it could be some time after episode four or five.
- 1:01:55I mean, who knows, right, that's the beauty And so they
- 1:02:00can use this character then wherever they want because they didn't put a time period
- 1:02:07on it. They didn't put a time stamp that they're stuck with, and
- 1:02:13so I think that that's incredibly smart of them. But beyond all that.
- 1:02:20What it does is it just makes this so moving for these two characters.
- 1:02:25And you know, I loved it and I was very very joked up about
- 1:02:31it as we watched this episode. In this finale, my wife and I
- 1:02:37and so John, there's one last thing I feel like we have to talk
- 1:02:42about, and that's because I think that Kevin Kiner and his family who have
- 1:02:50been working on these soundtracks, now it's not just him anymore, but it's
- 1:02:53also members of his family. Good Ness, are they knocking out out of
- 1:03:00the park in this series. Yes, they are. They're absolutely killing it.
- 1:03:06And what I also love most is that the Kiners exist in the space
- 1:03:15that John Williams did, especially with the original trilogy, where if you knew
- 1:03:21the music that was being referenced, everybody knows Mars the Bringer of War or
- 1:03:27you know, like there's a lot of holsts the planets in the nineteen seventy
- 1:03:30seven original if you listen for it, and you can hear certain Marshall ques
- 1:03:35in the Imperial March that you've heard you know here or there. But like,
- 1:03:39this is the same sort of thing where whatever temp tracks they were using,
- 1:03:45the Kiners find a way to nail it without being repetitive or ripping off,
- 1:03:52but get that same vibe where I'm like, you know, this sounds
- 1:03:55like something I would have heard from Hans Zimmer, or this sounds like something
- 1:04:00I would have heard from James Horner, or this sounds like something I would
- 1:04:03have heard in Indiana Jones movies. You know, like it's good for sounds
- 1:04:11like that. I'm actually paying a huge compliment here because I don't look at
- 1:04:15it and say, oh, you just stole that from I look at it
- 1:04:17and I say, I know exactly what you're trying to tell me emotionally right
- 1:04:20now, and that's exactly the right spot for that music to exist while at
- 1:04:27the same time creating its own identity so that I have themes within that framework
- 1:04:33that work perfectly well. I'm huge, huge fan of their work. I
- 1:04:39suspect, of course you are too. Was there any episode that like really
- 1:04:44jumped out at you as like the best music episode? Wow? That that's
- 1:04:53a really good question. I think honestly, one of the episodes that really
- 1:04:59jumped out was the very first episodes of the season, you know, just
- 1:05:02the hauntingness of that as we kind of follow Omega's new routine and her being
- 1:05:09there for so long. I enjoyed the episode where we're back on Teth and
- 1:05:16the references to the Clone Wars film, and I really liked the episode.
- 1:05:24I think the one that really I love the most, maybe was was the
- 1:05:28venturous episode and the cues that we got in that I thought they were gorgeous.
- 1:05:32But I've enjoyed listening to the sound and one the soundtracks they're releasing are
- 1:05:39like, I think there's over two more hours worth of music between the two
- 1:05:45albums. It's incredible. Oh wait, excuse me, I misspoke. There's
- 1:05:49over four hours and twenty seven minutes of music beyond with the two albums combined,
- 1:05:56and so just wonderful. I mean, you know, Kinder in his
- 1:06:00family truly seemed to understand Star Wars and they're doing it a great job.
- 1:06:05They did the same thing with the Ahsoka series and this is just beautiful.
- 1:06:11So all in all, you know, I I I I couldn't say enough
- 1:06:16about what they're doing. But John, I think I know the answer to
- 1:06:20this. But if you did have to rate the season three of The Bad
- 1:06:27Batch, the final season, what would you rate this series? Solid five?
- 1:06:33I mean, well, I don't even have thought. Yeah, I
- 1:06:36don't care too. I mean, come on, guys, it's it's so
- 1:06:42good simply sticking the landing like this. That that last six episode stretch,
- 1:06:48yes, and of itself, that's that's like, which we didn't I did
- 1:06:54not even mention. But one of the things I loved about that is it
- 1:06:57felt so reminiscent of the end of D Space nine. We're every single episode,
- 1:07:00those last six episodes, they just connect. Yeah. It was like
- 1:07:05once you hit, once you hit like Siege of ar five five three right
- 1:07:10or was it five ft three five? Yeah, it's five five to one,
- 1:07:13I think anyway, Yeah, I know, well, anyway, that
- 1:07:15episode, once you hit that episode, like you you had locked in and
- 1:07:19they were like, okay, guys, this is it, and yeah,
- 1:07:23say same vibe here where it's like, I mean, but that's that's also
- 1:07:27you know, Honestly, as much as I would have wanted even more seasons
- 1:07:30of the Bad Batch, I think that look at what happened as well with
- 1:07:34the fourth season of Rebels. Once a creative team knows they've got just this
- 1:07:41amount of time left, I think it really, though it may be painful,
- 1:07:48really, the great creators step forward and say, okay, challenge accepted.
- 1:07:55We're going to do this and we're going to do it our way,
- 1:07:58and they did it their way, and why did they do it? So
- 1:08:00yeah, sorry to ramble, but yes, Fire Stars, No you're not
- 1:08:03rambling at all. I think they just did such a great job with with
- 1:08:10that finale and it and that finale, like you said, really is those
- 1:08:14six episodes all together? In many ways, I would almost love to see
- 1:08:17a master cut of that, whether it's all put together and I can just
- 1:08:21watch it all without having any breaks, you know, because I think it
- 1:08:26would be so much fun to be able to do that when they release the
- 1:08:30four K discs. Maybe they could do that for us. Well, you
- 1:08:36know, I do hope, and this is something you know, we should.
- 1:08:41They've been doing the series now, you know, we've got the Mandalorian
- 1:08:44season one to two, We've got and or Out season one, We've got
- 1:08:46Kenobi coming out. Excuse me, it is now now they we we should
- 1:08:53get the entire series, the Bad Batch in a box set. We should
- 1:08:57be getting. They need to do I think a full release of the Clone
- 1:09:00Wars and if there's any way to put those in four K, please do
- 1:09:04that as well. You know, I have the seasons, but I will
- 1:09:09buy them again, and you know, I think I guess. Okay,
- 1:09:15one last question, if that's okay, please, where do we go next
- 1:09:19with Star Wars Animation? Obviously, I know we had Tales of the Empire.
- 1:09:21We're going to talk about that here soon. But I if you are
- 1:09:28in charge of Disney Star Wars, Disney Animation, Luke's Film animation, what
- 1:09:34are you doing. I'm finding Omega during the original trilogy in the Rebellion.
- 1:09:42I've said, there are other show ideas I've had where I'm like, oh,
- 1:09:45I'd love to go off with Ventris or I'd love to find out about
- 1:09:47the Clone Rebellion and actually stay with them. I'm totally down with that too.
- 1:09:53But if some if I were in exec and somebody came in and they
- 1:09:57said, we're gonna pick up Omega and it's gonna be totally different cast of
- 1:10:01characters aside from her, and she says she's going to go up to be
- 1:10:05a pilot for the Rebellion, I want to go put her sometime around Return
- 1:10:13of the Jedi. Honestly, I would tie it in that way. I
- 1:10:17want to go in. I want to find Omega sometime around the return of
- 1:10:19the Jedi and the ending of the series. Then it could it could either
- 1:10:27be right after the final Battle of Endor and her going around and helping sort
- 1:10:33of like almost an Alpha Squadron sort of vibe, or have her going and
- 1:10:42you know, just being the fleet they meet up at Sullist, right,
- 1:10:45we get the story of what was going on while everybody was in Hawth and
- 1:10:48scattered at Bestment and stuff like that. What about you? Oh my goodness,
- 1:10:55I think your idea is phenomenal. Oh thank you just saying that.
- 1:11:00Like I had thought about this idea of like following Omega, but the idea
- 1:11:03of kind of putting her in that time period I think is really interesting,
- 1:11:09especially because of the way I think that that could help you lead into the
- 1:11:16post return of the Jedi era, which you know, Mandalarian doesn't pick up
- 1:11:20till six years later, and it almost feels as though that show could could
- 1:11:28bridge the gaps right between Empire and then you know, through episode six and
- 1:11:36you know into then that that new era. So I love it. I
- 1:11:41think it would be really really cool to see that, and you could add
- 1:11:44a lot of different characters there. Uh, you know, whether it's a
- 1:11:47Hera and characters like that and stuff. So if so much that you could
- 1:11:53do there, So I think that's great. I love it. Well,
- 1:11:57John, it's it's always fun getting to talk to Star Wars. In fact,
- 1:12:01Spialer alert, we're going to be doing it next week too, so
- 1:12:05yes we are. Yes, there's gonna be more Star Wars talk coming your
- 1:12:11way. But if people want to catch up with you and see what else
- 1:12:15you've got going on beyond Star Wars talk, as if there is anything else
- 1:12:18we're not much, well, you can find me as Kessel Junkie on your
- 1:12:21social network of choice, but you can also find me being a little scamp

- 1:13:46serial with real seed food bits. So let's go, you know what,
- 1:13:50Matt, I think it's time to close these negotiations and maybe have some boba
- 1:13:57fat tea here at the six two c
