- 0:11So yes, we're going to go into our title track, which is Swim,
- 0:15which is produced by Tyler Spry and Leekar Lyrics by James
- 0:22Eisen, Sean Foreman, Tyler Spry, Jameson back back in Bacon.
- 0:30OK, sorry. Ryan Tedder, RM Kirsten, Alyssa
- 0:35Spencer, Derek Milano and P Dog. And then the official music
- 0:40video actually features the actress Lily Reinhardt.
- 0:44You've probably seen her in Like the Show.
- 0:47Riverdale. Yes, Riverdale.
- 0:49I only watched the first season on that, and then I lost
- 0:51interest very quickly because they're starting to do some
- 0:53weird things on that show. But sure.
- 0:56And she's been in other stuff. But according to Genius that I
- 1:00got the music video for the song set inside of a sailboat where
- 1:03the members are embarking on an inter Atlantic journey which the
- 1:06female lead are transported transported from the museum
- 1:11through the space and the time. The uneasiness of the temporal
- 1:15shift left her in a short but unforgettable memory of the
- 1:18history of the Korean diaspora in the earlier times.
- 1:21Connected to the title of the album based on a Korean folk
- 1:26song. I'm not going to lie, when I
- 1:27first saw like the teaser for this music video, I was a little
- 1:30worried, especially with all that we went through with
- 1:32Howard. So I was like, please God, don't
- 1:34show them showing up to Howard. And then we just get another
- 1:37like discussion. I don't need it and didn't end
- 1:41up happening, which I'm very happy.
- 1:43But yes, from the studio notes live kind of reiterated that
- 1:48they said in the Dog about being hesitated on making this their
- 1:51comeback, especially with them being known for like their heavy
- 1:54hard hitting choreography, choreographed title tracks.
- 1:57And they mentioned like idle and on they weren't sure how it
- 2:01would be received after being gone for so long.
- 2:03I also love that everyone forgets about Be and Life Goes
- 2:07On because that was another slow tempo song.
- 2:09But I guess because it was during the pandemic that's why
- 2:13I'm not really sure. Namju mentioned how we thought
- 2:17the song would be more relatable to people.
- 2:19He also mentioned that while preparing this album and being
- 2:22in the military, he kept counting down the day to D-Day
- 2:25and how it felt like he, you know, was having to swim to keep
- 2:28moving forward. So it's kind of like taking all
- 2:31the phrase, like, keep swimming when the waves get big.
- 2:33That's how life is. And I also didn't watch his
- 2:37interview, but I kept coming across clips on it online and
- 2:40like, TikTok. On the Elvis Duran show, Nandita
- 2:43actually talked about how this song can be seen as a typical
- 2:47love song, especially with some of the lyrics.
- 2:49Like, I could spend a lifetime watching you.
- 2:51And then he revealed that there was actually a last minute
- 2:54debate between 2 lines for the song.
- 2:57So for the hook, there was a choice of wonder where the waves
- 3:00are taking you instead of I can spend a lifetime watching you.
- 3:04But it seemed like more people like the lifetime line.
- 3:06So that made it into the song. And like, so that's why he
- 3:09understands how it can be interpreted into a love song.
- 3:13But like in the studio notes, he talked about how his inspiration
- 3:15was being in the military. And he said the days, 550 days
- 3:20and counting. Oh boy, he was ready to get the
- 3:24fuck up out of there. I know.
- 3:25That's right. Now, June.
- 3:26Yes and like get discharged when they when the time came so you
- 3:32know keep swimming until the day came to where he got released.
- 3:35Oh, poor June. I know, I'm so happy he's
- 3:38finally out. We're so glad he's home and he
- 3:41is too. So swim.
- 3:44I think the more that OK, so once we started getting other
- 3:47music videos, because in my opinion and this I'm again, I'm
- 3:49not knowledgeable in the sense of like, I know this is how this
- 3:52works. This is just my opinion.
- 3:54Just want to clarify when we get these music videos, I feel like
- 3:58these were the options of what was considered to be a single.
- 4:01When we get music videos, I feel like those are the represent the
- 4:04what we have as far as like these are the tracks that are
- 4:08the I guess maybe unanimously are like, OK, these are like not
- 4:11the best tracks, but like the tracks that we can see having
- 4:15the most market marketability, right.
- 4:17So when we're looking at Swim versus 2 point O versus
- 4:21Hooligan, I see why they went with Swim as a lead single
- 4:26outside of the fact that it's English completely.
- 4:28So you have that, you know marketability there, but it's
- 4:32also I think very commercial. I don't think the other two
- 4:36songs have the same commercial ability as Swim does because and
- 4:41I kind of talked, well, I didn't talk about this.
- 4:43I talked about this in one of the recordings we did that never
- 4:45is going to see the light of day, but that's.
- 4:47Fine to say. It's OK When it comes to pop
- 4:50music, it is a universal genre. It is a genre that is, again,
- 4:54you'll hear it more often times and not in places that are kind
- 4:58of considered like safe spaces or like places that are very
- 5:03family friendly. I'll say that now, of course,
- 5:05not talking about niche places. If you go to like a for
- 5:07instance, like a Mexican restaurant, you're probably
- 5:09going to hear more music that is directly from like a Mexican
- 5:15culture. Same with like, you know, again,
- 5:17any like any Asian diaspora and you know, anything that's
- 5:21specifically in niche, you'll probably hear something that is
- 5:24specific in niche to whatever. But I'm talking about like
- 5:27Walmart, your Kroger, your mall. You'll hear pop music most more
- 5:32times than not because it's safe, because it is a more easy
- 5:37listening than some other genres.
- 5:40Like rock is very mostly political for the most part or
- 5:45very anti government. So we're not listening to that
- 5:48in the local, you know, grocery store.
- 5:51I mean countries also, but I think that's American more than
- 5:55anything else. It it's getting a little more
- 5:59mainstream because like we we've seen like country kind of take
- 6:02more of a pop route. So we have pop country or modern
- 6:06country, but for the most part, country is also like very, it's
- 6:11not fun. It's not fun music.
- 6:13It's not like it doesn't it? Country music doesn't make you
- 6:15want to buy shit. And that's another thing, like a
- 6:17lot of pop music makes you want to buy shit or it's in in places
- 6:21where you typically will buy a lot of shit.
- 6:23And all of this is, I think for a reason.
- 6:24There's reasons behind all that just on like a level or
- 6:27whatever. But I think when it comes to pop
- 6:30music and that easier listening music and what's marketable and
- 6:33what is able to be able to be accessible to a bigger, larger
- 6:37crowd, Swim makes the most sense.
- 6:40It is heavy on kind of that blend between pop and like I
- 6:46would say R&B. But again, it's like it's got
- 6:48more R&B elements, especially with like this new wave of R&B,
- 6:53like a trap R&B. So like, you know, people like
- 6:56the Weekend and like Chase Atlantic is another like
- 7:00influence in there and Bryson Tiller obviously kind of
- 7:02cultivating like trap R&B. We're seeing a whole lot of that
- 7:06too. And I think it had the most,
- 7:09again, marketability when it comes to what would be pushed
- 7:13and what's going to be able to contend at the top of the charts
- 7:15with other songs like it. We're seeing kind of this shift,
- 7:19I think in music right now where people are listening to more
- 7:23like sing songy Ford music. Like we're seeing like the
- 7:26Olivia Deans and the Rays and they're kind of taking over the
- 7:30charts, which shout out to them. And like even with Bruno Mars's
- 7:34new project being very reminiscent of like the Silk
- 7:39Sonic kind of trajectory, very like seventies, 80s influenced
- 7:44or whatever. And so we're we're starting to
- 7:46see kind of like this resurgence of that more easy listening.
- 7:51Not so not to say like things like brat aren't popular because
- 7:56they are clearly, but I mean, I think we're seeing a shift and I
- 7:59think when it comes to trends, you know, the people who are
- 8:02behind BTS, the brand, I believe are on top of it and are
- 8:05watching these things. So it's what makes the most
- 8:07sound. The video bunch of men that are
- 8:12ghost chasing a white woman on a boat.
- 8:14And I just feel like it's kind of that's it.
- 8:16I mean, I'm sure like and again, I hate to make it this sound.
- 8:19It's just out of the free videos, it is it is the most
- 8:21boring. It is like, I don't think
- 8:23anybody would disagree. I haven't watched it since I
- 8:26first watched it when it came out, so I watched.
- 8:29Yeah, I know. I Yeah.
- 8:30The dance videos. More I will watch the dance
- 8:33because I do like watching those, but the music video I'm
- 8:35just like you know you got you a notable actress in there.
- 8:39That on you, you're on a boat. Y'all look good.
- 8:41They do. I mean, I can't think of it.
- 8:43Y'all, y'all look amazing. I mean, it's very aesthetically
- 8:46pleasing to watch, but it is very boring.
- 8:48There's not. And again, going back into the
- 8:50conversation about like them having very choreographed like 4
- 8:54tracks, there's there's a choreography in this, but it's
- 8:57not being showcased in the music video.
- 9:00So that's why a lot of people are going to the dance or the
- 9:02performance of a video, because we're seeing them move around
- 9:07and, you know, dancing to the music.
- 9:10But I mean, yeah, it's, it's definitely, I think it, it makes
- 9:13sense why after all it was all said and done, Swim was the
- 9:16title track. And I like it.
- 9:18I generally think that Swim is a good a good song.
- 9:21It's grown on me. Yeah, I think hearing our rap
- 9:24line take a backseat from the rap heavy stuff and be more sing
- 9:28songy love when Yungi does that sing song you should love when
- 9:33R.E.M. does. I mean, again, that's part of
- 9:35the reason why I loved RE miss projects like indigo so much.
- 9:38He was very much in his sing songy bag and Indigo and same
- 9:42with Yungi through D-Day. D-Day.
- 9:44It was very they had a lot of influence with the sing songy
- 9:48stuff. J Hope as well, like I I love J
- 9:51Hope's they they all three of them have very nice vocals.
- 9:54Are they like the best singers? Like no, they're but they're not
- 9:57supposed to be. They're not, they're not
- 9:58singers, but they have very nice vocals.
- 10:01Like I think they have very solid vocals, very distinct
- 10:04vocals that you recognize them. If if I if you brought me a
- 10:07track and didn't tell me who was on and I would recognize their
- 10:10vocals. The only one I'm going to see
- 10:11doing like a more vocal thing if he really trained for it would
- 10:15be Hobie in my opinion. I really like his tone when he's
- 10:19singing, so I could see him if he really wanted to like, you
- 10:23know, train that up more to be like an actual singer.
- 10:26Yeah, we got the kind of snippet of that I think with his solo
- 10:30releases through the tour with like Mona Lisa and Sweet Dreams.
- 10:36Both of them were very sing songy as like like melodic rappy
- 10:42kind of melodic rap and I like those.
- 10:44I think Mona Lisa's, at least it was my favorite of the of the of
- 10:48the trio of that. Oh, I mean, I was going all the
- 10:51way back to even projects on Hope World, like Daydream,
- 10:54because that's pretty singing to me.
- 10:57Yeah. And like others, I'm sure like
- 10:59there was some on Hope on the Street as well, but that I can't
- 11:02think of at the top of my head. Neuron, I think it was very, it
- 11:07had more of a melodic, melodic. It's melodic more than it is
- 11:10like it's not. It doesn't give like arson,
- 11:13which is very like rocker rap heavy or very like grunge heavy.
- 11:18It's so, yeah, it has that. It's more melodic than it is,
- 11:21like super rap or whatever, you know?
- 11:23Yeah, like the song he did with JK on his Hope on the Street and
- 11:26the one he did with Eugen from Laserafim.
- 11:30I would consider those two. They're very more singing.
- 11:32Yeah, a lot more melodic for sure.
- 11:35So we're we're on some. So yeah, I think Swim was, I do
- 11:38think now that we've had the whole album, I think in the
- 11:40beginning I was like, man, body to body should have been the
- 11:43should have been the choice. But knowing what the what the
- 11:45intention was with this album, now I'm like, you know what Swim
- 11:48was? Probably the right choice.
- 11:49Yeah, I completely agree with. That at it from the perspective,
- 11:53yeah, if we're looking at perspective of the three music
- 11:55videos we got or what those were the of those were the choices of
- 11:59the title tracks. Swim was the right answer.
- 12:01Good song, though. Oh, Tyler Spry.
- 12:05He's the one that worked on Bad Bunny's album this last album.
- 12:08Oh, OK. I was wondering where the
- 12:09producer you were talking about for Bad Bunny was going to come
- 12:12in. Yeah, he was part of I'm, I'm
- 12:15terrible with names, but the one that he just won the whole
- 12:17Grammy and did Super Bowl on, and I think when we saw that
- 12:21name, we saw his name. I think a lot of people who know
- 12:25that he worked on Bad Bunny's album, that's was also part of
- 12:29the expectation of them, quote UN quote, like, you know what
- 12:33I'm saying like so I can see that and of course it I don't
- 12:36think that it had to be, but I think there was like this
- 12:39expectation that was set because of the fact that he worked on
- 12:42such a cultural significant album to that Bunny.
- 12:46And I think that we thought I think it rightfully so.
- 12:49I don't have I don't have a problem with speculating being
- 12:51wrong, You know what I mean? Like, so even I was like, we'll
- 12:54probably get something that's more, you know, significant to
- 12:57them, But you know, swim is it is significant to them, but not
- 13:01in the way that I think people thought it was going to be.
- 13:03Yeah, OK, so let's go on to the next song, which actually is a
- 13:08girl for me as well, Merry Go Brown.
- 13:12So the producers on that is Sam Holmay, Sarah Aaron's Kevin
- 13:18Parker. And for the lyrics, it is Sam
- 13:23Holmay, Sarah Aaron's Gregory All Day, Hyne, Kevin Parker, RM
- 13:29Sugar, J Hope, Derek Milano and P Dog.
- 13:34And I know in the studio notes, Namjin Meili talked about how it
- 13:38looks like all day. And Sam, you know, really helped
- 13:43shaped his vision for this that he had.
- 13:46I'm sure it came like, once again from the military.
- 13:50He also mentioned, I think and the Zane Lowe, if I remember
- 13:55correctly, again, I'm taking, you know, I was trying to go off
- 13:57the top of my head how he was a big fan.
- 13:59I remember he mentioned the name Kevin Parker and someone that
- 14:04was working for them. I don't know if it was Sam or
- 14:06someone else was the reason that they got connected because he
- 14:10was talking about how he's a big fan of him and he's like, oh,
- 14:13like I'm friends with him. And so he brought him on board
- 14:16to, like, share a couple songs to help them with.
- 14:20Yeah, it's Tame and Paula this is and I love, I love Paula.
- 14:26So I was super stoked when we knew Kevin was on the credits
- 14:32and it definitely gives. It has a very Tame and Paula
- 14:36esque like vibes too. If you if you listen to that
- 14:39music, it is very psychedelic kind of in a way gives very much
- 14:45like a what's the word I'm looking for?
- 14:47Kind of like a yeah, like a trippy, slowed down vibe.
- 14:54I really like Merry Go Round. It's it's up there for me.
- 14:57I think this song is deeper than normal because people always
- 15:00talk about normal. I'm like, I think that's Merry
- 15:02Go round. You think it's deeper than
- 15:04normal? I, I do.
- 15:05I think in the lyrics it's more like, I don't want to say sad.
- 15:09What am I trying to think of? What is that word that Nafisse
- 15:12always used to tell me? Is it melancholic?
- 15:15Is that the word I'm thinking of?
- 15:17Melancholy? I think so.
- 15:19I mean, just talking about like, you know, because you know, we
- 15:22kind of envision Merry Go rounds as being like a fun thing that
- 15:25we do as children and like carnivals.
- 15:27One this part where it's kind of like being stuck in like a loop
- 15:32of like, you know, trying your best, but like not feeling like
- 15:36you're going anywhere. So you're stuck in that loop of
- 15:39continuing doing things. I'm reading this one lyric.
- 15:43Like, though I feel like I've become an adult, the worries and
- 15:45me are the same, which very, you know, can relate to that.
- 15:49And then we also have, like, parts for Nam June, if you're a
- 15:52fan. He's talked about, like, having
- 15:54insomnia since he was in the military.
- 15:56And he brings it up in this is talking about, like, how as bad
- 15:59as his coffin. So it's just like, you know, one
- 16:03of those things. It's just very.
- 16:05Yeah. I don't know how to explain it.
- 16:09I think there's a lot of some symbolism to it.
- 16:13You know, if you think about, I think there's a lot of just like
- 16:16like like innuendos as well when it comes to, like you said, just
- 16:21the references to kind of mean stuck in a cycle.
- 16:27And, you know, I think they've, they've always been pretty,
- 16:31pretty open. I think with certain things in
- 16:34their life, we see it reflected a lot through their music and
- 16:37the choices that they make when it comes to what they talk about
- 16:39in their music. And I don't think this is the
- 16:41first time we've seen any of them kind of talk about feeling
- 16:45kind of stagnant, I guess. Yeah, I like Merry Go Round.
- 16:49I think it's a really good another one of those like pallet
- 16:52cleansers. It doesn't feel as heavy.
- 16:55It feels, again, with just with the sound itself, the production
- 16:58side of it, it feels very airy. It feels kind of almost like
- 17:03you're floating in water in a way, like floating on top of
- 17:05some water. And again, with the addition of
- 17:09Kevin Parker adding that layer that Tim Paul is known for his
- 17:15influence and that is, you know, you can you can definitely hear.
- 17:18Even if I didn't know that he was involved, I would think that
- 17:21this was very inspired by like a Tayman Paula.
- 17:25Yeah. And when I first heard it, I was
- 17:26like, I knew I was going to love it.
- 17:28I love that, like you said, melodic low to it.
- 17:31And when it comes to the. I feel like this was one of the
- 17:36ones that we saw them working on a documentary when he was
- 17:39sitting with Kristen. She went in the documentary.
- 17:42That's normal. That was normal.
- 17:44That was. Normal they're working on, yeah.
- 17:46OK, we're getting to that then. I swear it was this one.
- 17:48Maybe it was just. I don't.
- 17:50Think they really talked about working on this one in the doc.
- 17:53There was a few they didn't and I know this one wasn't like this
- 17:56one wasn't really talked like animals wasn't talked.
- 18:00I don't think they don't know about us was talked or one more
- 18:02night, please or into the sun. You know, they really only
- 18:06focused on normal swim. The first half.
- 18:09Yeah, and the the first half, except for fire, talk about body
- 18:13to body a lot. Yeah, It was kind of like one
- 18:15that, yeah, center focuses. You know, I think as we move
- 18:19down through like more melodic parts of this album, I think we
- 18:23start to obviously these are where we see a lot more
- 18:28attention to detail when it comes to lyrics.
- 18:30And again, like the symbolisms and the hidden meanings are just
- 18:34like alternative meanings. Yeah.
- 18:39It is a translate getting to that point.
- 18:43Yeah. Overall, I think it fits very
- 18:44well on the album. Glad they didn't cut it.
- 18:46I mean, I'm all I'm always curious about like, what gets
- 18:49cut and what stays. And this one, I feel like it
- 18:53fits their vibe. It's also the other one that's
- 18:56fully in English if I'm not mistaken.
- 18:58No, this one has Korean. Korean.
- 19:00What are the three? The one that's.
- 19:01Fully in English is again normal that you're thinking.
- 19:04Of normal, but there's another one that's fully in English too.
- 19:09Is it one more night? Hang on.
- 19:12Might be. Oh, like animals?
- 19:14Like animals. I knew it was like another one
- 19:16in the second-half. That's.
- 19:18All I got from Mary go round. Yeah, I mean, there's not much I
- 19:21can really break down into this as well.
- 19:24But just some of the lyrics, again, we're just relatable,
- 19:26especially to, you know, I guess I can relate it to is like a
- 19:30working adult of this feeling. Like especially if you're in a
- 19:33data job that you feel like it's going nowhere.
- 19:35How that can feel like being on an endless merry go round,
- 19:38especially like when the part they have here in the same daily
- 19:42life, like a carousel, like a hamster wheel, it's all the
- 19:44same. So yeah, kind.
- 19:47Of sad. That's what I'm saying.
- 19:49It's very sad. And then even towards the very
- 19:51end, Renamjan acts. I think this is part where he's
- 19:54like round and round, are you happy?
- 19:56Please smile until the end. Like just trying to make it
- 19:59through. It's feeling, it feels very
- 20:02nihilist, like very, yeah, like it.
- 20:06And it also kind of kind of reminds me a little of Jimin's
- 20:13the first song on Face. Is it alone?
- 20:17Because I like that song a lot. Not that one.
- 20:20The Not Alone starts off sounding kind of like a circus a
- 20:24little bit. That's off of Muse.
- 20:27No, it's. Not off of face.
- 20:29That's no, no, it's here. It's.
- 20:32'Cause I was like, Muse has another one that sounds circusy.
- 20:35'Cause I remember him being in the studio and and he was like,
- 20:39fuck you that one. Are you sure that's it?
- 20:43Alone. No, it's not alone.
- 20:45Hold on, I'm about to go look at right now.
- 20:47Clearly I need to. Face off.
- 20:49Yeah. Oh, reminds me of Face Off a
- 20:51little. Bit I would think another one
- 20:52we're about to talk about. Reminds me more of Face off and
- 20:55a mix, a mix of face off and some music elements from Muse,
- 21:00which would be yeah, I was going to say they don't know about us.
- 21:04Reminds me more of like Jim and solo work.
- 21:06That makes sense because he's the one that I think was more
- 21:09involved with that one. Yes.
- 21:12So let's go on because I know we both, we're both, I can feel it.
- 21:17We're almost there. We're almost that we go home,
- 21:19stretch or we got it. OK, so our next one is Normal,
- 21:24which I also think is another one a lot of people were
- 21:27fighting like maybe this should have been the title track but
- 21:30produced by Ryan Tedder and Sean Cook and then writing credits is
- 21:36Sean Foreman can't. These names.
- 21:40Is it Lee Frank? He's living OK or Livy Frong,
- 21:43Ryan Tedder, Sean Cook, RMJ, Hope Sugar, Kirsten Al, Alyssa
- 21:49Spencer, Derek Milano and P Dog. In the studio notes live, they
- 21:53mentioned how, like, the original storyline for the
- 21:55lyrics talked about the lover and having an abnormal obsession
- 21:59with their partner, but they had to find a way to, like, change
- 22:02the lyrics to kind of relate to them as a group.
- 22:05And then Nam June kind of had to ask them, like, their definition
- 22:09of normal or like, what do people find normal compared what
- 22:12BTS themselves find normal, which I think you can clearly
- 22:16say when you read the lyrics. And then I know, like, the
- 22:20kerosene dopamine part they talked about or they brought it
- 22:24up when they were talking about, like, trying to make sure they
- 22:27got the English pronunciation correct on certain songs.
- 22:31So that was also this song. But yeah.
- 22:35Just. Basically questioning things
- 22:37that they call normal or things that people might perceive
- 22:41normal for them, which isn't really normal.
- 22:43I think for this one, it has definitely solidified itself as
- 22:47like my favorite on the second-half.
- 22:49It's a lot of people's favorites.
- 22:50It is. I think it's just a very solid
- 22:54and well written song. This is probably one of my
- 22:57favorite, my favorite song. As far as the song writing part
- 23:00of it, like again, we see especially with like the rap
- 23:04lines part, they hope talking essentially about like being
- 23:08happy all the time and how that's not like a sustainable
- 23:12way to be right, Which to like, I mean, I don't have this like
- 23:16again, these these these unhealthy relationships or
- 23:18whatever with these guys. But it just obviously, obviously
- 23:22you can't be happy all the time. Like even if you are someone who
- 23:26has been put against the group as like this is a person who is
- 23:30the mood maker. It's just I feel like each of
- 23:33them kind of combated something that is very true to what's
- 23:39happened to them over the last. Like with J Hope, it's like
- 23:42persona of him being happy all the time or being the happy pill
- 23:46of the group or being the mood maker of the group and how that
- 23:50is not a sustainable, it's not really sustainable for anyone to
- 23:55be a constant like springboard when it comes to other people's
- 23:59happiness by way of their own. And the fact that, you know, I
- 24:03think he we've seen a lot of him kind of exploring these spaces
- 24:10for a while. I think of like Blue Side a
- 24:12little bit one of my favorites by him.
- 24:16Yeah. I just, I feel.
- 24:17And then of course, it's just with the whole like
- 24:19jack-in-the-box album with J Hope, I feel like was kind of
- 24:25exploring those like darker concepts and darker, like
- 24:29feelings. And this in my opinion, was kind
- 24:31of like this song kind of feels a little bit like we're settled
- 24:35with this. Like we are not maybe not healed
- 24:38from it completely, but we are accepting of the things that now
- 24:43are just become a normal part of our lives.
- 24:45So I think that if I listen to it in that way, I feel like
- 24:49Hobie is. And again, I feel like we're
- 24:51getting a little more deep in this one.
- 24:53But I feel like with Hobie's lyrics, I feel like it's more or
- 24:57less like he's OK with sometimes just being sad, I guess.
- 25:04And yeah, like that and like, understanding, like he says,
- 25:09like some pain don't heal. I don't know, like I'm not.
- 25:12Again, I don't try to take everything super literally, but
- 25:14I feel like this particular stretch with these three, he'll
- 25:18be very much focused on his happiness.
- 25:21And then you have Yungi who talks.
- 25:23It feels like it comes off about maybe dealing with his own
- 25:27anxieties. Kind of what I get from that was
- 25:29that I breathe everything out like 1000 times.
- 25:31That feels very like panicky to me.
- 25:34And like there's always this like there's this like
- 25:36conversation that goes around with these guys about like being
- 25:39special and being like, like a special case and feeling like
- 25:44he's as normal and special. They're just some lines.
- 25:46It's just lines. It's just it's just, it's just
- 25:50words in a way. And then you have Nam June, who
- 25:53I feel like this one kind of hit me the most.
- 25:56Nam June's part was I run away, pushing me, pulling me says you
- 25:59want to honor me. But what is even all of me?
- 26:02I feel like I think a lot about when he, he goes on live and
- 26:05he's he's like, in a way like I think a lot about like the, I
- 26:10don't know if you remember like the Frank Ocean debacle.
- 26:13Oh no, I remember. Yeah, and for whatever reason,
- 26:16that popped in my head when he when I heard him in his heart.
- 26:20And it's just like, I think I'll and I made a video about this a
- 26:23long time ago, just like his deconstruction of his
- 26:27relationship with himself as an idol.
- 26:29And I think this is also just kind of like feeding into that
- 26:33and all of these things. I think that they talk about
- 26:36specifically the rap line in the song and why I love this song so
- 26:40much is because it feels like my mind when I hear it.
- 26:45It's like they've accepted these things and whether or not these
- 26:50things change immediately or it is a steady process for the rest
- 26:54of their lives, I feel like they've come to the point of
- 26:56just accepting these things and that makes me very proud of
- 27:00them. And that's just the kind of way
- 27:02I see it and how I ran into it with with them specifically.
- 27:06Yeah. And then like even within the
- 27:08chorus, you can tell it was kind of supposed to be for like the
- 27:11whole group because like, you know the part where it's like,
- 27:13show me hate, show me love, make me bulletproof as well.
- 27:17And then I kind of resonant the wish I had a minute just to turn
- 27:20me off. That's definitely a non dude
- 27:21thing, especially how we know how he gets into his head a lot.
- 27:25And I think that's always also one of the parts in the
- 27:27documentary we saw with him talking to the other writer
- 27:31where she was telling him like, it's OK to put all of this in
- 27:33so. I'm glad she affirmed him.
- 27:36Yes, me too. I really enjoyed that scene.
- 27:38Yeah, I feel like a lot of the times you'll find people who
- 27:43especially who like, write their own shit, they they get caught
- 27:46up in their own head and think that they're either oversharing
- 27:49or they're not conveying the message as well as they'd like
- 27:52to. And then of course, you have the
- 27:53language barrier. Even though Namju is fluent, I
- 27:56think there's all there's always going to be times where things
- 28:00don't translate well from Korean to English, you know what I
- 28:03mean? They talk about that a little
- 28:04bit. Of course, yeah.
- 28:05And so I'm very glad that we saw that moment of them, of them
- 28:09working together. And again, just affirming that
- 28:13it's OK to be vulnerable. It's OK to put these things in
- 28:15there and it's OK for you to write exactly how you feel
- 28:19because that's the only way that like those things will flow.
- 28:22If you do, you can't just keep blocking.
- 28:23You can't keep holding on to it and blocking it from being
- 28:26released. So I enjoyed that a lot in the
- 28:30documentary and it is my favorite on this on this back
- 28:33half. So it's a staple for me in my
- 28:36daily listening. You and Gina as well because she
- 28:40will talk about the death, how much she loves this song, which
- 28:42I mean, for good reasons too. But yes, let's go on to our next
- 28:47song, which is like animals, you know, Definitely reminded me of
- 28:51my supernatural watching days. I feel like if supernatural TV
- 28:56shows were still very popular, this definitely would have been
- 28:59in one of those teen like drama supernatural shows like a teen
- 29:03wolf or Vampire Diaries. I could see it OK but it was
- 29:06produced by Diplo. Artemis diamendis, Toby dantree,
- 29:14Kevin white and lyrics by Thomas Wesley pence.
- 29:18Artemis Diamendis, Toby Daintree, Jess Fink, Kevin
- 29:25White, RM Kirsten Alice, Alyssa Spencer and Bold Knock.
- 29:31I don't really have any notes for the studio live.
- 29:35They didn't really talk about this song, they just talk about
- 29:37how it didn't really make it to the album almost, but they liked
- 29:41it because it gave like that rock band feeling which they
- 29:45wanted to keep. This is one of the songs in the
- 29:48second-half, which was all my, you know, lower end for me, if
- 29:52I'm going to be honest, which you would think I would like it
- 29:53more because I was into shows like Teen Wolf and all that back
- 29:57then. But it's grown me a little bit.
- 30:00I appreciate the song mainly for like, I think it was the later
- 30:04half where like Tay, John Cook and Jen are like doing that
- 30:08harmonizing. I do feel like this highlights
- 30:11Jen's higher vocal tone a lot more, which I enjoy.
- 30:15So that's why I listen to the song and like it and those
- 30:19senses. But you know, it's just, it's
- 30:22there for me, but I'll still listen to it.
- 30:25I think it's once again, I think when I remember seeing the, what
- 30:31is his name Artemis on TikTok just talk about, well, just
- 30:36allude to the fact that he was in the same space and was able
- 30:40to write for them, which I think is amazing.
- 30:42I think any time someone that's lesser known gets an opportunity
- 30:46like that, it's an amazing fee. I love seeing smaller artists be
- 30:50able to, you know, connect with and, and I think it was because
- 30:541 of it was R.E.M. or I think it was R.E.M. that shared a song.
- 30:58And I remember I'd have to go look at the ever growing list of
- 31:01Namjun recommendations. I'm.
- 31:02Sure, it was probably him. More than likely.
- 31:04It was probably Namjun, honestly, because he's always
- 31:07given us, well, they all are in their own way, but he's
- 31:10definitely like the most consistent recommendation giver.
- 31:14But yeah, something as simple as that.
- 31:15Just like like your song, I'd like to work with you.
- 31:18That's like like a dream for some people, you know what I
- 31:21mean? So and with the song itself, I
- 31:25think it's giving it's, it's not like a lot of people will be
- 31:29like, oh, it's just like, well, I don't think everybody thinks
- 31:32like this. I think there's a obviously a a
- 31:33select few people who think that the song is very sensual, has
- 31:37very sexual like undertone to it, which I mean, you can make
- 31:42anything like that. I guess you could literally
- 31:44make, you know, some the stupidest shit very sexual.
- 31:47But I don't think I don't I didn't let me just say this
- 31:50clearly. I don't I didn't get anything
- 31:52sexual of any song on this album.
- 31:53But I do think it has that very the the sensuality that comes
- 31:59with like a rock song, especially like a slower rock
- 32:01song. Thinking of people like what was
- 32:06their name? I just listened to them earlier.
- 32:08Hold on a second, give me a second.
- 32:10I mean I'm going to go look it up.
- 32:11Oh my God. Like I'm really ill prepared
- 32:14right now and as soon as I see I'm going to be pissed because I
- 32:17know, I know. I'm about to type in the song
- 32:18right now. Kings Of Leon.
- 32:20Why the fuck could I not think of their name?
- 32:22I think of Kings Of Leon, Kings Of Leon and people like Hoyser
- 32:27and like just people who like explore.
- 32:30Even if they're talking about deeper songs.
- 32:31Sometimes their songs are just immediately like connected with
- 32:35like sexy feeling and I feel like this kind of does similar a
- 32:38similar thing. I don't think the lyrics
- 32:40themselves are inherently sexual.
- 32:43I think the vibe of the song gives very sensual, so I like
- 32:47it, though it was was an automatic like yes for me, I
- 32:51think, and I'm a soccer for a good guitar solo.
- 32:54So that really got me more than anything.
- 32:58And enjoyed their performance of it on the Netflix special.
- 33:01I didn't think they were going to do it because it is, you
- 33:04know, a slower song and you know with that, but you know, I think
- 33:07it fits it definitely. I think the more that you sit
- 33:09with this album, most of these songs, granted this is all we
- 33:12have to compare to the songs definitely fit within the it's
- 33:17it's it is what's the word I'm looking for this track listing
- 33:22and the way that it flows, it works like.
- 33:24And so I think this is a good kind of ending of that three or
- 33:28four song trend of it being kind of the slowing of it down.
- 33:32And because we get back into a little bit more poppy pop heavy
- 33:37on the latter latter half of the second-half.
- 33:40I did like I did enjoy like animals and I do hope that maybe
- 33:46Yunki does a guitar solo. I'm not going to lie to you.
- 33:48I feel like as much as they gave him shit for what what it doms
- 33:52you and say you can be on the guitar like 10 hours a day will
- 33:56show me. I want to see it.
- 33:57Yeah, I was surprised about that.
- 33:59But should I be? Really Not.
- 34:01No, I shouldn't. He's a fucking Pisces man, man.
- 34:04I don't know much about astrology, OK?
- 34:06All I know is I'm a Taurus and that's it.
- 34:08I don't know much. OK, that's.
- 34:09All you need to know. OK.
- 34:10But yes, hopefully maybe in like the finale or something, you can
- 34:15you can bring out that guitar and show us what you got on this
- 34:19song. OK, so we're going to move on to
- 34:23my favorite song of the second-half, which is They don't
- 34:27Know About us. And again, say thank you to Park
- 34:29Jimin, who apparently had a really big hand and making the
- 34:34song producers on This is P Dog Ghost Loop and Y2K, with lyrics
- 34:41by P dog ghost loop RE star Staris Rug, Curtis Wells, RM
- 34:49Sugar, J Ho, Jimin and yes. And like I stated, they were
- 34:55really praising Jimin during the studio notes for this.
- 34:58It was interesting too, because he said he was struggling at
- 35:00first because this is the thing about Weaver's translation.
- 35:04Sometimes they'd be messing up. So I don't really know what he
- 35:07was trying to say. It was something along the lines
- 35:10of like, the translations were giving me something like the
- 35:13intention for the song was You Make Me Weak, and he was
- 35:17thinking about the fans and ARMY in that sense.
- 35:21So I'm not really sure what he meant by that.
- 35:25And then it turned into like, I guess the original tension as
- 35:28well. So I don't know if that meant
- 35:31like the original fan. The original intention was fans
- 35:34make them weak because they don't know about them or like,
- 35:37put on, you know, these type of what they perceive for them,
- 35:41which isn't true. But yeah, that's something I
- 35:44found interesting. Him and Namji kept repeating
- 35:46like original tension of trying to make this was like feeling
- 35:50weak and pathetic in a way. That from the artist notes or
- 35:55the studio notes or just throughout that.
- 35:57No, that was from the studio note live that they kept talking
- 36:01about. The original thought for the
- 36:03song was fans making them feel weak, which I don't don't really
- 36:06know how to interpret that like because I don't want to come off
- 36:09negative, but that's not what it meant due to translations.
- 36:11But that's what they were saying because even now I'm doing in
- 36:13English, I heard him say like we and pathetic.
- 36:16So not really sure. Interesting, in which I feel
- 36:20like it's funny because one of the highlights of this song is J
- 36:25OP's verse where he talks about the the thing that's like a
- 36:31triple entendre. It's he says you say we change.
- 36:35We I mentioned this in Discord, but I'll say here the there's
- 36:40three versions of that that I feel.
- 36:42And if that's what if, because I have not be honest, I have not
- 36:45watched the studio notes. I just haven't gotten around to
- 36:47it. But the fact that if that's the
- 36:49translation for like the fans make them weak, I think that can
- 36:53also like kind of tie into what J Hope was talking about.
- 36:57Because I feel like we're going to go on a tangent here.
- 37:01Try not to because again, it's getting to that point.
- 37:04But I think the ARMY has done a bit, a lot for BTS.
- 37:07Not going to sit here and take away from it that the fandom has
- 37:09definitely helped them in many ways, getting them where they're
- 37:13at. But I think that fandom has also
- 37:15hindered them in a way. I think when you have a fan base
- 37:20that is as large as ARMY and you are a artist who is very much in
- 37:26tune with not only yourself, but kind of like global opinion of
- 37:31you or the global opinion of your group.
- 37:33Hard to not look into those things.
- 37:36When people talk about you or people have or blogs have
- 37:39something to say and you know, it's just like it's hard to turn
- 37:44off the noise. At the same time, I think it's
- 37:49to a point, I think with the fandoms, with a fandom and this
- 37:54group that much like how this album was received, it, it can
- 38:00definitely play a part in what they're willing to try and what
- 38:05they're willing to attempt for either fear or just like doubt
- 38:11for themselves, for their for the sound or the intention to go
- 38:17across the right way. And that I, I mean, I, I if that
- 38:20is the right. And again, I don't know, I don't
- 38:22know what the exact translation turns out to be, but just
- 38:25hearing it just verbatim, I can can agree like I can agree with
- 38:30that sentiment and how that ties, I think into what Jay was
- 38:33talking about. It's like you say, we've
- 38:35changed, We feel the same. So like you, the public say that
- 38:39we BTS or, you know, does me as an artist have changed, but we
- 38:43feel the same. We've not changed at all.
- 38:47It that's one meaning, in my opinion, about that.
- 38:50The second meaning is you say we've changed.
- 38:53We feel the same as in you say we've changed and we agree with
- 38:58you. We have changed.
- 39:00And then the third one is you say we change, we feel the same
- 39:03as in we feel the same way. You feel like you feel that
- 39:07we've changed, we feel like you change.
- 39:09So I feel like these are three different things that can also
- 39:11tie into how these, you know, the with with the whole like the
- 39:16fans make them weak. If that's if that is what ties
- 39:20into it, which is kind of it's it's it's a sucky position to be
- 39:24in, I think, because you want to obviously, like make music that
- 39:27your fans enjoy, right? That's the whole point, The
- 39:29point, the whole point of making music.
- 39:32Part of the of the reason is to make music that want to listen
- 39:36to people really want to be participate with.
- 39:38But there's a part of that that kind of what's the word before?
- 39:43There's a part of doing what your fans want to do that limits
- 39:47your creativity in a way, because if they all they want to
- 39:51hear is the, you know, butter, dynamite provision and dance
- 39:55type shit. You want to make, you know, like
- 39:57just using noms. You like the monos and the Jack
- 40:00in the boxes and the D days and the faces and you know the
- 40:04sevens and the happy and the. What is Tay's album called?
- 40:13Layover and think about it. Yeah, it was coming down there.
- 40:16I have mall and they're in that box.
- 40:20When you want to do something that's different from what I
- 40:22guess people kind of pitch again, going back to the
- 40:24conversation earlier about Black talking about being pigeonholed.
- 40:28That is a weakening of sorts, having to do music that people
- 40:31enjoy, people that you know, maybe don't know your story,
- 40:35that don't know your struggle. And not that you have to be tied
- 40:38to that struggle, but you're telling the story as as you go.
- 40:42And if all your fans of all the global majority wants to hear is
- 40:47the shit that makes them feel good, you kind of like crippled
- 40:50a bit, I think when it comes to what you're willing to try or
- 40:54even feel confident enough to try.
- 40:57Like, I can't imagine what it would look like if they felt
- 41:01that way and then we weren't able to get some of the music
- 41:03we've gotten from them over the years with like the solo
- 41:06projects and stuff. Imagine feeling that like
- 41:09limited in a way that you don't even care to try.
- 41:12I mean, it's like JK forever to make, you know, golden.
- 41:15Mostly because he wanted to rot. Say he didn't even want to make
- 41:19in the first place. Yeah, mostly because he wanted
- 41:21to rot, which, you know, right, Rightfully so.
- 41:23But like, it's just one of those things.
- 41:25It's just like, yeah, I mean, there's room, there's space to
- 41:28make the the the songs that make you feel good.
- 41:31But like, that's not what BTS started off as.
- 41:34And again, it's going back to this conversation of like going
- 41:38back to their quote UN quote roots.
- 41:40Like in a way, they've never really left that.
- 41:43They've never really left speaking about the things that
- 41:45trouble them and plagued them and the the issues that they
- 41:48deal with. I mean, we've seen it throughout
- 41:50the the solo projects as well. That's part of their identity.
- 41:54And yeah, I think I don't, I don't.
- 41:57Again, I don't know what the translation is as far as like if
- 42:00that's correct, but it does sound on par, like it's it
- 42:03really much does. If that's what it is, it sounds
- 42:05pretty much on par. Yeah, and I mean, you can tell,
- 42:07too. Like they're also talking about
- 42:09things that people on the outside of the fandom have said
- 42:13about them. Like we have the first of the
- 42:16lyrics. Like, what's what was so
- 42:18different about you? They keep asking and I tell them
- 42:20I don't know and like with the quotes like this is how they
- 42:23made it I'm right and them at a reiterating which Namdu says a
- 42:27lot how they're just like 7 Korean like country boys in a
- 42:30sense. And that said that's to where JK
- 42:33sings apart like we're just big boys AKA country boys.
- 42:37Yungi also kills me in his part. I didn't realize he said this.
- 42:40It's in Korean, but the translation is basically like
- 42:43with your nosiness as big as the Pacific Ocean, which damn bro.
- 42:49I mean it's just such a line. Your nosiness is as big as the
- 42:53Pacific Ocean. Isn't that like the biggest
- 42:55ocean we have I. Believe so, yeah.
- 42:58Yeah, so just great song by Park Jimin that I very, very much
- 43:04enjoy. And then we're going to go on.
- 43:07Don't worry, guys, We have three more songs left.
- 43:10If you're still with us, thanks for sticking with us.
- 43:12Right? We have one more night.
- 43:15Listen, do I need to break the 4th wall or just keep going?
- 43:19Just do whatever. You feel is necessary.
- 43:23It's so late for both of us, but we're just going to keep going.
- 43:27I don't know if you can tell the changes in my voice because it's
- 43:30hurting from talking so much anyway.
- 43:33One more night. Produced by Diplo, P Dog and
- 43:37Nitty Lyrics by Thomas Welsh pens P Dog, Bo NOx, Richard Cook
- 43:44Mirrors the 4th RM Sugar, J Hope and Aunt Aunt Clemid.
- 43:50Clemence. Clemence, I didn't write that
- 43:52correctly. That was my spell check.
- 43:54Yes. John Cook in the studio notes
- 43:57Live compared the song to older BTS songs.
- 44:01He actually used Home as an example, which I thought was
- 44:04very interesting, stating how this was a nice, easy listening
- 44:08to song and especially since they had previous heavy songs
- 44:10that were played before in the album.
- 44:13I think. I'm sure they were talking about
- 44:14like Animals and Like Normal and Merry Go Round.
- 44:17So this was supposed to kind of bring the mood back up and from
- 44:21my understanding, didn't seem like Nam didn't really like the
- 44:24song at first. I don't know if it grew on him
- 44:27or not, but that's the vibe I was catching.
- 44:29I think he said it too. I might have missed it, but
- 44:32yeah, I mean, I enjoy the song. This is definitely a song I feel
- 44:36like you can listen to, like driving at night.
- 44:38Yeah, it definitely gives like a Euro pop feel.
- 44:41I enjoy. I guess I like the Princess as
- 44:45far as just like the different genre and music types that we're
- 44:48getting we've gotten from this album.
- 44:50It definitely was one of those songs that took me a while to
- 44:53get into after, you know, my first couple of lessons.
- 44:56I think it's a good general song.
- 44:58The melody at the end has been driving me crazy as I know I've
- 45:02heard that melody before. That very last part cannot for
- 45:06like me figure out, and I'm still to this day trying to
- 45:08figure it out. So if anybody in the comment
- 45:09section knows where that melody's from, please put it in
- 45:11the comment section or yeah, because I need to know.
- 45:14But anyway, I like it though. I mean, again, we're getting
- 45:17some very light vocals from the rap line as far as just like
- 45:24them kind of dipping in some more vocal melodic tone, but
- 45:30it's kind of fits right up the rest of their alley, like the
- 45:33vocal liners. This is kind of like their bag.
- 45:35I think so I liked it though. I thought it was a nice little
- 45:39palette cleanser from some of the more serious conversations
- 45:43or serious subject matter. And the other song.
- 45:45Yeah, you can tell. It's supposed to be
- 45:47lighthearted. You know, I guess if John Cook
- 45:52wants to compare it to Home because I thought we said home
- 45:55was kind of like an Army song, I can see that, too.
- 45:57This is where I feel like the next two gets in my eyes gets a
- 46:01little bit more, I guess sensual in a way, like, you know, and
- 46:05doesn't have to mean like sensual doesn't have to be like
- 46:08sexual, but just like, you know, just wanted to hang out with
- 46:10someone or also like getting lost in the fantasy, which they
- 46:13talk about in the lyrics. But they also say, you know,
- 46:16you're my fantasy. But that could also just mean
- 46:18like fantasy of just, you know, being together for a night no
- 46:22matter what that means. Doesn't have to be sexually, but
- 46:24just like you know, hanging out as well going into the
- 46:27dreamscape of just like not wanting to face reality.
- 46:30Also, I guess I didn't realize there was a part in this lyric
- 46:33where it says Celine, you who are like Celine, which
- 46:38apparently is the goddess last personification of the moon in
- 46:42Greek mythology, which is showing Nam June's, you know,
- 46:45big brain and his very love of Greek mythology.
- 46:49He's. A nerd.
- 46:50I love my nerd, Yes. We do.
- 46:52We do love his big brain. His big, sexy brain.
- 46:54We do. Yeah, no, I, I feel like a lot
- 46:57of this album has like Greek mythology written all over it.
- 47:03Few of few of the tracks are very reminiscent of like the
- 47:06Odyssey, I think with, you know, swim haulbacks or whatever.
- 47:11And so I had to think it was my brain was getting worse.
- 47:14It's getting up what we're almost done.
- 47:15This was good. But yeah, I can.
- 47:18I think there was in the beginning of all like this
- 47:21promotion and stuff. There were like some
- 47:23similarities to some Greek mythology stuff.
- 47:26So makes sense that they would continue that track.
- 47:29And they're very obsessed with space.
- 47:31I think too. You know, we have like Ego
- 47:34Cosmos, which is very much a Spacey song, but it's also an
- 47:37army song. Kind of reminds me a little, not
- 47:39in theme or like in sound, but that's kind of if if you know,
- 47:42bringing that into it. We also have Pluto from Love
- 47:46Yourself. Too.
- 47:47Do we have it? 134340 Listen.
- 47:51Didn't NASA put it on their playlist like a few years ago?
- 47:54Years ago? I don't know.
- 47:55I know this recent one. No, they didn't make.
- 47:57No, yeah, this is a new list, but I think the old list, they
- 48:00did add it, I don't remember. We have moved by Jinn.
- 48:04Very Again, yeah. And he made Wuto, who's a space
- 48:07alien. Oh yeah, I guess he's an alien.
- 48:10He is an alien, yeah. So space.
- 48:14Space. I mean, yeah, yeah, I can
- 48:16definitely see some of them, you know, nerding out over what's
- 48:19going on currently with the, what is it, Artemis, the moon
- 48:22landing thing? Yeah, I'm sure they're watching.
- 48:24Are they still in space? Are they still circling the
- 48:27moon? I'm.
- 48:27Not a nerd, I didn't watch it so I don't know.
- 48:29Oh. My God, I didn't watch it either
- 48:32because, you know, in Florida, we have the space station here.
- 48:35So like the lawn. So like, I know one time my dad
- 48:38came home, he running into the house.
- 48:40He's like the this launch is going off.
- 48:43And I just continued to watch TV on the couch because I do not
- 48:45care. I'm not I'm not going to get up.
- 48:47Oh no, he called me. Actually, no, he didn't come
- 48:49into the house. He called me because he pulled
- 48:51up to the apartment. He's like, hey, the space launch
- 48:53is about to go off. Then he hung up and I was like,
- 48:56OK, well. Thanks for telling me.
- 48:58Thank you, but yes, I didn't really have much to say about
- 49:01One More Night. There's not really like lyrics
- 49:03to delve into, but again, that's fine because you always don't
- 49:07need serious lyrics people. But yes.
- 49:11I think that what's funny about you saying that?
- 49:13Just real quick, what's funny about you saying that it took a
- 49:15while for Namjun to grow on him? It kind of gives like it should
- 49:19have been on Indigo This. Song.
- 49:22Yeah, I feel like it has like that vibe of not hectic.
- 49:26What is the song he did or hectic?
- 49:28I see this on Golden, not indigo.
- 49:32I can. See this?
- 49:33Like the song he did with DJ Snake?
- 49:37Didn't he do one also called closer or closer to you?
- 49:40I can see that coming after this.
- 49:43Actually, it with what is the song?
- 49:45It's not hectic, it's what came before hectic.
- 49:49Let's track this in my head. Do you need?
- 49:51Me to to research it. Yeah, it doesn't seem like I'm
- 49:55doing. I mean, again, I don't know if
- 49:56it changed, but he did express this is one of the songs he
- 50:00didn't really care for, I believe.
- 50:01I'm surprised to hear you say you could have heard this on
- 50:04Indigo. Wow, it was like there's a song
- 50:06that no. Closer with Paul Block.
- 50:10OK, well there's also changed Part 2, Wildflower forgetfulness
- 50:17or forgetful. I don't think it's Indigo you're
- 50:20thinking about because there's only either all day with
- 50:23Tableau, still Life, or you. All day.
- 50:26There it is. Yeah.
- 50:28All day, really. That was the song.
- 50:29I knew it was coming. I was like, there's got to be
- 50:31another one. I don't see it.
- 50:33Yeah, go when you later go listen to all day.
- 50:36It's not like verbatim but like I feel like it.
- 50:39They are kind of similar. I could have seen this song on
- 50:42Golden by JK as like if it was one of his singles, Right,
- 50:46right. But yeah, it's pretty much one
- 50:49more night. So we're going to get into
- 50:51second to last, which is please. I think for me personally, this
- 50:55is the most central song that they have.
- 50:58So it was produced by Tyler Bry Spray Spray OK, with lyrics by
- 51:05Tyler Spray, James Essen, Ryan Tedder, RM, Sugar J Hope.
- 51:10And then they stated, I guess it's supposed to be the fan
- 51:13song. So this song is dedicated to
- 51:15ARMY, as they always like to say.
- 51:17There's got to be one song in there.
- 51:19And again, they didn't really talk about the song because they
- 51:21ended up going into a debate as people would like the first half
- 51:25of the album more than the second-half and vice versa.
- 51:27So they kind of just mentioned this was the song for ARMY and
- 51:31then also their ADHD brains kicked in.
- 51:34They talked about something completely different, not the
- 51:37song at all. Makes sense.
- 51:40Have you seen hate to like marrying up the meme but the
- 51:44meme of what the song sounds like?
- 51:45What it sounds like now. So have you ever seen the
- 51:48episode of SpongeBob? Where?
- 51:51Like where? It's Pearl's birthday?
- 51:56My God. Hold on you guys.
- 51:58I need you to hear it. Oh my God.
- 52:01Is this a newer episode? No worry I guess.
- 52:07'Cause I almost thought you were going to say stripe sweater.
- 52:09No. Best time to wear a stripe
- 52:12sweater? No, it's boys who cry.
- 52:15All the time. Oh, that little like fish boy
- 52:18group. Yeah.
- 52:20Right. Yeah.
- 52:22I remember, I don't remember the song, but I I visually remember
- 52:25that now because she was obsessed with them.
- 52:38Did you hear? It I didn't.
- 52:41OK, it comes on. I'm sure it's on my side of the
- 52:44recording. Oh I know if it's on your side
- 52:48then it's fine, but no I I haven't seen that meme.
- 52:53I'll have to look that up later. When you look at it, yeah, you
- 52:55want to take, you're going to hear, it's going to be so loud.
- 52:57I didn't mean for it to be that loud.
- 52:58So just be prepared to hear like laughing to the speaker.
- 53:05Anyway, it's very reminiscent of that song.
- 53:08And so, but no, I, I, I tend to this one.
- 53:13I felt like like I get why people thought it was very
- 53:16sensual, sexual, whatever, because it's like the language
- 53:19around it for them to be like, oh, this is army song just like,
- 53:23OK, but you know, like. Yeah.
- 53:27I don't know who's more delusional, us or them.
- 53:30I think it's an equal playing field at this point.
- 53:33I'm not sure, I think they got a speed.
- 53:36JK got his beat. Well, Namjoo starting to creep
- 53:40up there. Yeah, no, I think this is a very
- 53:44solid kind of rounding down work as again we're getting again the
- 53:49second before last song. And again, this song really does
- 53:52kind of move and wave where we have the very first like very
- 53:55high intensity, the bell hits and then we're like we kind of
- 53:58dip really like in a slower pace.
- 54:01But then we kind of come back up with one More night.
- 54:03And please is kind of, I think a a good balance song when it
- 54:08comes to like tempo and stuff. I'm surprised that the song
- 54:14didn't get more push for like a not like a like a music video or
- 54:21nothing. But I'm surprised that, like, we
- 54:23didn't get this like at the Netflix special.
- 54:25I'm surprised about that too, and it seems like to be a fan
- 54:28favorite a lot of people really like.
- 54:30Please. Again, not one of my favorites,
- 54:32but I think it's a good again, I don't think any of these songs
- 54:35are bad. Let me just put that out there.
- 54:37I think all these songs sound sonically are really good, even
- 54:40though all we're going to talk about in a second that seems
- 54:42everyone hates, I think. But anyway, just Browning my
- 54:48opinion on please, you know, I mean, I do think it's a little
- 54:51more mature. It has more mature theming,
- 54:54which is, you know, get what people think.
- 54:56It's again more sexual sensual. Well, you know, I don't think
- 55:00anything's that explicit. I you know, I think it just has
- 55:04that vibe of just like yearning in a way, and it feels very like
- 55:09a yearner song. What you know I'm all for men
- 55:12bring back yearning because. Listen, that's what we're
- 55:15missing in today's music. Bring back men yearning, you
- 55:20know, I agree. But yeah, I mean, there's
- 55:22definitely yearning in this, especially, you know, you get in
- 55:25the chorus. I know people as far as like the
- 55:28sexual essential, whatever people want to say.
- 55:30I know they point out the like the hug me from the front, back,
- 55:33left, right, a lot. And then I know there's a part
- 55:37in the chorus of I think district case, say I'll do that
- 55:41thing for you. So of course people want to
- 55:44interpret that as what they want.
- 55:45But I know there was a few reasons for that.
- 55:48But like, even listening or not listening, looking at this, like
- 55:51towards the end, I see one of lyrics here that says
- 55:54translated, yeah, wishing our souls to be together forever.
- 55:57So I mean, I kind of understand why in those senses they can say
- 56:01this is an ARMY song. I'm just talking about how we're
- 56:05going to be together forever, basically besties forever.
- 56:08BTS and ARMY are one. Yeah, besties.
- 56:14Yeah, sure, whatever. What other words should I use
- 56:17besides? Bestie no, that's it.
- 56:19I mean just the slight in quotations.
- 56:21BS and then even towards the end too of like being on by each
- 56:25other's side even on our worst days and holding each other
- 56:29tight. Yeah.
- 56:31Even. Hell, I'm down.
- 56:32All I want is you. Does that make you feel
- 56:34sentimental? Sure.
- 56:39No, it's just I mean, I can see it being kind of a AI wouldn't
- 56:43even say like appreciation song. But yeah, I think, you know, I
- 56:48think it has some undertones of just being very like, what's the
- 56:53word I'm looking for, Being very nostalgic about the relationship
- 56:59they have with their fans. I can see it.
- 57:03But of course everybody just looks at it in a certain way,
- 57:05like we're not talking about being besties and getting coffee
- 57:09and shit. We're talking yeah, y'all are
- 57:10talking about foot and I'm getting, no, it's good, a good
- 57:16solid song. I think it has a decent enough
- 57:20song structure for sure. I'm a love Namjun's again.
- 57:25Love when Namjun gives us any vocals like a weakness of mine.
- 57:30So love that he does that again. Going back to that me from the
- 57:37front, back, left, right. Love that part.
- 57:40So my sucker for Namjun singing a little sing song.
- 57:45Interested to know how they're going to incorporate that.
- 57:48In what the concert? I feel like it's a song that
- 57:53kind of, again, it builds back up.
- 57:56So I feel like it's going to, I don't know, be maybe in the
- 57:58middle section. I don't know.
- 58:01I still have to make a Shay's projected set list, which is
- 58:05probably going to be all fucking wrong.
- 58:09I'm not going to confirm or deny until after your concert for
- 58:13your wishes. I.
- 58:14Do appreciate it. Of course.
- 58:17But yes, that's pretty much self-explanatory when it comes
- 58:21to please. And then we are on to our final
- 58:28song. God.
- 58:29Thank God not because listen, it's way past my bedtime, OK, I.
- 58:37Don't think you ever stay on this late, girl.
- 58:39Rarely. Very rarely.
- 58:41I'm an old lady, OK? And the youngest of us all and
- 58:45yet acts like she's like 90 years old.
- 58:47I like my sleep and that's also because it's hard for me to
- 58:51actually sleep. I don't sleep well during the
- 58:53night, so like when I can get sleep anyway, we have into the
- 58:58sun, which I'm going to be honest, I liked into the sun
- 59:01when I first heard it. I can I can tell like I
- 59:04understand being thrown off by like the auto tune especially,
- 59:08but like after the second listen, I was like, you know
- 59:10what, I get this. I understand why Tay fought for
- 59:13this song so hard. So the producer credits are P
- 59:16dog Diplo, Tyler Johnson, Nitty and ghost loop lyrics by P dog
- 59:22Thomas Wesley Pence V Jimmin. I think I pronounced this
- 59:26earlier. Is it Tezo or?
- 59:28Tezo, Tezo touchdown. Tezo touchdown key on D
- 59:34Cambaran, Richard Cook mirrors the 4th Tyler Johnson ghost
- 59:40loop, RM Suga and J Hope. And again they really pointed
- 59:45out how Tang fought for the song.
- 59:47He must have, you know, understood the assignment first.
- 59:50Listen, Yugi was going to this whole story and I am so sorry.
- 59:57He really lost me because he started talking about technical
- 59:59terms when it came to music and like the sound boards and like
- 1:00:03different programming. I'm like, I know you need this
- 1:00:05supposed to be funny. I don't.
- 1:00:06I don't understand anything you're talking about.
- 1:00:09No. I'm sure it was hilarious 'cause
- 1:00:12it went along with, you know, almost losing the file, so I
- 1:00:15know how that feels. Relatable, right?
- 1:00:17Right stuff. Not so funny now, right?
- 1:00:20You should have paid attention. Maybe you learn something about
- 1:00:24no I knew right off RIP listening to this people were
- 1:00:28not going to like it. Like as soon as I heard the
- 1:00:31first like lyric the choice and using that over overdone kind of
- 1:00:40vocal ish fry ish auto tune is not very pleasant on 1st listen.
- 1:00:49It reminded talked a lot about when we got the album listening
- 1:00:54to it in my note, I said it reminded me and I hate to bring
- 1:00:57this person up because they are super, super problematic, but
- 1:01:00it's true. Very much Kanye influenced in my
- 1:01:04opinion. Kind of has like the album.
- 1:01:09It has the song Ghost Town on it and Ghost Town to me it has a 07
- 1:01:15a shake on it and I just feel like it really embodies like
- 1:01:18that. You know, it gives a little bit
- 1:01:20of Post Malone too prior to the country ship.
- 1:01:23So and again, they've all kind of worked together on projects.
- 1:01:27So I I can definitely see where the influences come from.
- 1:01:30I can see why somebody like Tay would fight for this song
- 1:01:35because he's, you know, he's a little weirdo and he tends to
- 1:01:38drift towards the type of music I think that isn't popular, but
- 1:01:46it is timeless. And I think this is going to
- 1:01:49want to be one of those songs over time, people are going to
- 1:01:53grow to love. I look at like you.
- 1:01:55I loved it on 1st listen. It was obviously again, it's
- 1:01:59it's it's a choice. And much like in the same vein
- 1:02:05as I think a lot the reason why people didn't not didn't like.
- 1:02:09But people were a little apprehensive on Jimin's first
- 1:02:13project face with the stylish choice of the auto tune.
- 1:02:17Like I don't know why people get so like worked up about auto
- 1:02:19tune. Like it's it's in every song.
- 1:02:22It's not sometimes it's not used as a like a stylistic choice,
- 1:02:26but it is in every song. Like auto tune is present in
- 1:02:28every song that's ever been put out in the mixing and master.
- 1:02:33Some people like I don't like because of altitude.
- 1:02:35You don't like any music because everything has auto tune in it
- 1:02:38of some sort. Literally everything.
- 1:02:40Literally. And so I get what people mean,
- 1:02:44but that's not what you said. And so for me, it's just like,
- 1:02:47I'm cool with it because again, I grew up in the era of like the
- 1:02:50T pains who was primarily Then again, auto tune doesn't mean
- 1:02:54like what people like. Obviously don't some people
- 1:02:56know, some people don't. You still have to be able to say
- 1:02:59you can't just like auto tune doesn't fix that.
- 1:03:01You know what I'm saying? Like you still have to be able
- 1:03:03to carry a note, otherwise you're going to be sounding
- 1:03:07crazy. And again, I knew all for it.
- 1:03:09People weren't going to like it because it's so piercing.
- 1:03:13It's in that it's in that it's in that range that really kind
- 1:03:16of bike by it's like, again, nails on a chalkboard kind of.
- 1:03:19But I think it's going to be one of those projects.
- 1:03:21It's me one of the ones that's a slow favorite for people,
- 1:03:27especially when they get it, because I've got to hope they
- 1:03:30perform it. I'm pretty sure they do.
- 1:03:32And if that's the closer, man, it's going to be a very
- 1:03:36emotional, I think, because again, the sentiment around this
- 1:03:40album and people, the way people acted about it when it comes to
- 1:03:44just being so sort of opinionated about it, it's like
- 1:03:47you think this would be their last project, but the the song
- 1:03:50into the Sun feels like we're literally like moving into the
- 1:03:55next phase. So I appreciate that.
- 1:03:57Like again, overall, like I think that each song that was
- 1:04:02chosen, I would absolutely one day love for them.
- 1:04:05I'm sure we'll hear them eventually in in other projects.
- 1:04:08Love to know what was left behind and you know what songs
- 1:04:12or peep they fought over and you know, whatever the case may be
- 1:04:16just to see because like I'll let you say your thoughts about
- 1:04:20the song before I move on to that.
- 1:04:22Me. Yeah, well, you're the only
- 1:04:24other person hears somehow. Anyway, we talked about this
- 1:04:31already is getting to that time. We almost done girl we right
- 1:04:35around the corner. I don't have much to really say
- 1:04:37about it, you know, because I can, I understand why this is
- 1:04:42the end, and it's good that Please went before it as well.
- 1:04:45It's kind of along the same like sentiment of just like the
- 1:04:49togetherness, always being together but also being there
- 1:04:53for each other. Especially times of like
- 1:04:55darkness, which I think they referenced in the song as well,
- 1:04:59following each other into the sun.
- 1:05:03Yeah, especially during like hardships and all that.
- 1:05:06I was looking at the lyrics while I'm on dole sets website.
- 1:05:10It's interesting because I didn't realize there's a part
- 1:05:13kind of random kind of not, but it's the time between dogs and
- 1:05:17wolves. And I guess the time between
- 1:05:19dogs and wolves refers to dusk from the French, French idiom.
- 1:05:24I cannot pronounce that, so I'm not even going to.
- 1:05:27At dusk, you cannot tell if the creatures running towards you
- 1:05:31from afar is a friendly dog or a hostile wolf.
- 1:05:34So that's very interesting more because like I guess it goes
- 1:05:39into the whole I go into the whole verse.
- 1:05:41I don't remember whose verse this is, but it's the time
- 1:05:44between dogs and wolves. The broken compasses of animals
- 1:05:47are escape in front of the chaoses and regrets a human
- 1:05:51breathing and resisting want to go home to where you are.
- 1:05:54So I guess, again, that just goes into what I was saying of
- 1:05:58being there for each other even through the tough times.
- 1:06:01And you can kind of see this reflected, I guess, to you of
- 1:06:03like military with the way they feel about fans.
- 1:06:07I mean, I don't know, I've never seen anyone be so worried about
- 1:06:12what their fan think first before themselves like I do with
- 1:06:16BTS. And I feel like this also
- 1:06:19reflects out of like following each other into the sun, like
- 1:06:23waiting for them to come back and all that.
- 1:06:25So I'm not sure if any of this is making sense.
- 1:06:28Yeah, I think, you know, if you look at it from a literal
- 1:06:31standpoint, like I think what you were trying to get around to
- 1:06:34is like following someone into like a danger, like danger
- 1:06:39space. But like, I mean, the sun is
- 1:06:41literally kill you like a kid, literally.
- 1:06:44So it's just like following someone into like the unknown,
- 1:06:49the like into the hardships, hopefully coming out unscathed,
- 1:06:55like, and I'm sure there's a whole lot of different like
- 1:06:57poetical things that we've missed.
- 1:06:59Probably just and also just being tired, but.
- 1:07:02Yeah, I mean too, because I'm looking at the chorus that I can
- 1:07:05hear like Gin singing too, which another thing I like the song.
- 1:07:07This is also one of the other songs aside from like Animals, I
- 1:07:10think really highlights his vocals that I enjoy.
- 1:07:13But like I guess which we talked about a little bit when we're
- 1:07:17talking about they don't know about us.
- 1:07:19The double edged sword of like the fandom and artist
- 1:07:22relationship where it says like you call and you know, I run
- 1:07:26dark days and find the sun and not caring how far.
- 1:07:29It's kind of like BTS reassuring no matter what, they'll be here
- 1:07:33for the fans. But like, at the same time, I
- 1:07:35guess what you were trying to say about the running into
- 1:07:38danger together, like I'm not sure you know.
- 1:07:41Running into something that essentially could hurt, could
- 1:07:43harm you. Yeah, it could.
- 1:07:45It could be a source of power where it could be a source of,
- 1:07:51like, ultimate good, or it could be a source of just like,
- 1:07:54demise. I mean, you know, the sun is
- 1:07:57both something that helps the life process, but it also could
- 1:08:02be, again, deadly. So yeah, I think there's a
- 1:08:05couple of things that could be taken from that.
- 1:08:07And then there's also like this, like, more literal sense of
- 1:08:10like, following, like, have you ever just, like, stared at the
- 1:08:13sun just on accident? Like, and you could become like,
- 1:08:16temporary blinded. There could be kind of like a
- 1:08:18metaphor there too, of like, blindly following someone no
- 1:08:22matter what. So I think there's probably a
- 1:08:24lot to unpack with that. And it's a shame that people
- 1:08:27were like wrote it off so early just because of a choice of how
- 1:08:32they wanted to present it. You know, I think you see and do
- 1:08:35all of these songs just to kind of bring it all together.
- 1:08:38You definitely see the influences that they're
- 1:08:41influenced by. You also see the experiences
- 1:08:45that they went through making their solo projects.
- 1:08:48I see a lot of Gin in this. I see a lot of Tang in this, a
- 1:08:52lot of Gemin, obviously, a lot of rap line jki think is the 1 I
- 1:08:56feel like. Not that I don't see the most in
- 1:08:58because again, he obviously has credits all throughout this, but
- 1:09:02I think much like we talked about how pop is like a
- 1:09:04universal genre, JK's project was very like universal kind of
- 1:09:08genre focus album, which I don't necessarily think that this
- 1:09:11album is heavy focused on pop as it was anything else.
- 1:09:15So I feel like JK definitely adds to it and I don't want
- 1:09:18anybody to get that wrong. I definitely see JK in this.
- 1:09:21I see all of them in this and their experiences, but I think
- 1:09:25it obviously comes out different ways in different songs.
- 1:09:29So yeah, I think there's solo work and the things that they've
- 1:09:32done in between the time has helped curate the sound that
- 1:09:35they have. And I'm very, and again, I'm
- 1:09:38just just slowly becoming my like legit my one of my favorite
- 1:09:41albums from BTS as a whole. And I, I hope that they continue
- 1:09:46to explore sounds and vibes and continue to collaborate with
- 1:09:53people who, you know, again, no matter what the backlash is of
- 1:09:57just like wanting to be more Western, like whatever.
- 1:10:00Like, Like, like music is obviously better when it is
- 1:10:03shared. And it's better when you are
- 1:10:05able to have collaborative efforts with people who also
- 1:10:07understand your intentions and your goals and what you aspire
- 1:10:13to. And to have like names on this
- 1:10:15album that like I recognize and a lot of people also recognize
- 1:10:19just right off RIP. It's like that's, that's a dream
- 1:10:22again for some people. And even though BTS is the
- 1:10:24biggest thing, you know, some sliced bread, I mean, they still
- 1:10:28have people they want to collaborate with and work with
- 1:10:30and, you know, be involved with when it comes to their music.
- 1:10:33And I don't think it, we should just shun that away just because
- 1:10:37they didn't have the like upper hand when it comes to being on
- 1:10:41the productive side. I mean, they very much are all
- 1:10:43through these credits and they're very much present.
- 1:10:47So it's OK to let artists and collaborate with other artists
- 1:10:52and have that effort together. And also just some, I guess,
- 1:10:57some final, final thoughts. I think that this has a very
- 1:11:00strong possibility of winning a Grammy this year.
- 1:11:04Well, this Grammy year, I don't want to put anything out there,
- 1:11:07but I would not be surprised if it did.
- 1:11:10And I won't be surprised if they put it up for nomination or
- 1:11:14consideration. Yeah, I think that it is a
- 1:11:18cohesive body of work. I think it is.
- 1:11:21It's not, I don't think it's necessarily like pushing any
- 1:11:24boundaries, but I think it is a really well done like return to
- 1:11:31or a return of BTS. I'm very proud of it.
- 1:11:34Like I'm very proud of to been able to get this project kind of
- 1:11:41as my first official comeback with the whole group.
- 1:11:43I'm glad this was it. I look forward to listening to
- 1:11:47all of this at the concert. And so I just hope that I hope
- 1:11:52that they are proud of the work they put out.
- 1:11:54I hope they don't feel like missing anything or like it
- 1:11:58needed more. I hope they're satisfied because
- 1:12:01they should be satisfied. I think the people who were
- 1:12:05apprehensive in the beginning where we're seeing less of them
- 1:12:08now because it's not popular, it's not the thing to talk about
- 1:12:12which it's done had its wave and now we're on the other thing.
- 1:12:16I think anybody who really wants just to have that full
- 1:12:21experience of enjoying things just needs to stop listening to
- 1:12:25other people. Which is ironic because we
- 1:12:27literally just sit here and talk for almost 4 hours about an
- 1:12:30album. But I'm probably definitely
- 1:12:32going to break this up into four parts just to be honest.
- 1:12:36Jesus, Lord would be me, right? No, I think you should
- 1:12:40absolutely form your own opinion.
- 1:12:41You should. And if and if that opinion is
- 1:12:43negative, it's negative. Like, yeah, I mean, again,
- 1:12:45there's, we've talked a lot about criticism and, you know, I
- 1:12:48don't think anything's above criticism, but in general, I am.
- 1:12:52I'm very excited to see what BTS does in the future.
- 1:12:56I'm very glad that this is the album they decided to put out.
- 1:12:58Even beyond all the controversy and all the shit that happened
- 1:13:01and came with it, it came at such a heavy cost, I think.
- 1:13:05But I do think that this album works very well and it, it does
- 1:13:10feel very BTS. It feels very authentic to who
- 1:13:14they are now. It nods to things from the past.
- 1:13:18It nods to the things that they did and their solo work.
- 1:13:21I don't know how much more BTS you want to get them that, you
- 1:13:26know what I mean? Like it is a combination of all
- 1:13:29of those things. It's not going to be the love
- 1:13:31yourself era. It's not going to be wings.
- 1:13:34It's not going to be danger. It's not dangerous, cousin.
- 1:13:36It's just it is odded on on its own and I think it's enough.
- 1:13:41Like I generally do think that that's that's good enough for if
- 1:13:44it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.
- 1:13:46You know, that's how I feel about it.
- 1:13:48I think pretty, pretty satisfied with most of the collaborations
- 1:13:53and most of the producer work on it.
- 1:13:57Yeah, like I said, I'm looking forward to seeing this will be
- 1:14:00fledged out on the big old Allegiance Stadium stage.
- 1:14:05Yes, I hope they're proud of it either.
- 1:14:08It does seem like they're proud of it and it's just also goes
- 1:14:11into. I think this album was really
- 1:14:13needed because I mean, even I was like that too of just
- 1:14:16curious and wondering what they're going to do and then
- 1:14:19like for the whole tour. I don't know.
- 1:14:21I guess I also wasn't expecting them, which I don't know why I
- 1:14:25like. I knew they were going to put
- 1:14:26something out when they came out, but I guess in my mind, and
- 1:14:29maybe I was still focusing on like the K Pop side of it.
- 1:14:32I just thought they're maybe going to do like a mini album
- 1:14:35and then tour. And then I guess I'm long what
- 1:14:38other people's were expecting to, yes, kind of do like the Air
- 1:14:42an Errors tour of sorts. Even on this podcast, I know
- 1:14:46I've talked about songs I would like to hear them perform.
- 1:14:49So it's like, yes, I've also missed some, but like, am I
- 1:14:52going to be chastising them because they're not performing
- 1:14:56them anymore or performing them like they used to?
- 1:14:59No, because I'm growing along with BTS.
- 1:15:02So it's like I'm very happy with this album too.
- 1:15:06I thank them a lot for also expanding my musicality just in
- 1:15:10general because I was never really a person into music like
- 1:15:13that till I really got into them.
- 1:15:16And then I opened me up to like be more open to other artists as
- 1:15:20well, not just in K Ball, but I just mean musical artists in
- 1:15:23general. So yeah, I mean, I really
- 1:15:26enjoyed this +2. I think this was really needed
- 1:15:30to show people that they are moving forward as a group.
- 1:15:33We talk about, we want them around for a long time.
- 1:15:36We joke about it. They joke about it like if you
- 1:15:39truly want them to pass the K pop expiration date, which
- 1:15:44they've already have, you're going to really need to let them
- 1:15:47grow as artists and show different sides of them.
- 1:15:50And this is what they're showing.
- 1:15:51This is not only BTS 2.0, but this is showing BTS getting
- 1:15:55older. Like they're not in their 20s
- 1:15:58anymore. They're in their 30s.
- 1:16:00And sometimes when people say that, they kind of think you're
- 1:16:03like trying to be Aegis and getting older, which I'm not.
- 1:16:07But it's also just being realistic of like, you know, you
- 1:16:11get older, that's just the human experience.
- 1:16:13Don't you want them to grow? You don't want them to be like
- 1:16:16some artists who are stuck rapping or singing about the
- 1:16:19things that they talked about in like high school and in the
- 1:16:22early 20s. Like we stated earlier, that
- 1:16:25gets boring. That's no growth with the
- 1:16:28artists attending them as well. So I'd rather grow with BTS and
- 1:16:33put them in a box to stay stagnant.
- 1:16:37I feel like I had more to say, but I can't tell if I'm losing
- 1:16:40my train of thought from tiredness or not.
- 1:16:41Did I have more to say? Alright.
- 1:16:43You could probably make NNN post you can think.
- 1:16:46About it, yeah, I'm, I'm not doing any of that unless it's
- 1:16:49the intro and outro. But anyway, yes, I'm just very
- 1:16:52happy to go with BTS and to see not only with what happens with
- 1:16:57the Idong tour, but then even beyond that.
- 1:17:00So I'm ready. I mean, also bring on the band
- 1:17:03that you keep promising us when they're in there, you know, 60s
- 1:17:07and 70s. I also learned through the Zane
- 1:17:09Lowe interview, because I know in the recording that it's never
- 1:17:13going to see the light of day. We talked about, like
- 1:17:15instruments they can play. Apparently Hobie has been
- 1:17:17getting into the drums. Hell, he's been taking drum
- 1:17:20lessons. Well, we got 2 drummers out
- 1:17:22there possibly. So yes, we got our drummer, we
- 1:17:24got our saxophonist, we got a guitarist.
- 1:17:29Jen can do the bass. I think he'd be a great bass
- 1:17:32player. I remember what Jimin can do.
- 1:17:35What did we say Jimin can do? There's.
- 1:17:36A little guitar. Till 2 guitars.
- 1:17:39Think and then he also. Yungi and Jimin do guitar.
- 1:17:44Yeah. But Yugi plays all sorts of
- 1:17:46instruments, so he can choose whatever.
- 1:17:48Yeah, I don't know who we would give Tay or JK.
- 1:17:51Tay can do the violin, JK could just sing.
- 1:17:53That works. There you go.
- 1:17:57We got it guys. We we got, we got it.
- 1:18:00Well, yes, so that will go ahead and end our review of the
- 1:18:04Ariadong album and we hope you guys enjoyed our in depth
- 1:18:10struggling of trying to get this done, but we did it.
- 1:18:14We did. It we did it, Shay, it only
- 1:18:15took. Five hours.
- 1:18:21I also, we're not going to talk about the song, but I also do
- 1:18:24just want to mention there's a deluxe version that's out on
- 1:18:26vinyl and we ended up getting a hit a hidden track all produced
- 1:18:30by Sugar and it's called Come Over.
- 1:18:33So I'm sure you can find it somewhere.
- 1:18:36I hope they do release it on streaming because it seems like
- 1:18:39they wanted to be released on streaming.
- 1:18:41Not sure why it became a hitting track, but yeah, it's called
- 1:18:43Come Over. Didn't make the album, but they
- 1:18:46added in the deluxe final. I don't know why they didn't add
- 1:18:49it in the regular CD because they put hidden tracks in the
- 1:18:53regular CD's before. Marketing scheme to be very
- 1:18:59honest. But yes, we are just ready to
- 1:19:02grow with BTSI. Can't wait to see them in Tampa.
- 1:19:04I'm sure by the time this comes out, I would have already seen
- 1:19:08them in Tampa or I might be in Tampa seeing them.
- 1:19:11So don't worry, we will come back and talk about our concert
- 1:19:16experiences. Shay, if you want to come back,
- 1:19:18you're more than welcome to since you and Lala are seeing
- 1:19:21them in Vegas. If you want to talk about seeing
- 1:19:22them in Vegas and on your birthday and you can tell us
- 1:19:25about the set list too, since you didn't see it beforehand
- 1:19:28with Korea. Yeah, we can definitely schedule
- 1:19:30that. We can.
- 1:19:31So yes, thank you for listening to this episode.
- 1:19:36You can find us on social media at I Was Thinking Pod.

- 1:19:49the album review that we just did.
- 1:19:53We would appreciate any rating, specifically the highest ones to
- 1:19:57like, you know, get us some push, get us some lessons, share
- 1:20:00with other armies so we can all talk about and think about the
- 1:20:04album. And like, you know, if there's
- 1:20:06things you wanted to talk about, hopefully we've highlighted them
- 1:20:09or you can let us know some things we may have missed as
- 1:20:12well. But I have been your host,
- 1:20:14Simone, and that has been. My lovely guest Shay, who I
- 1:20:18think tremendously staying up with me this late.
- 1:20:21I'm, I'm telling you guys, it's literally almost 1:00 AM.
- 1:20:24Like that's how late we are recording right now.
- 1:20:27And it's all for you all. Yes, it's all for you guys.
- 1:20:30So yes, I just thank her immensely for recording this
