- 0:01Matthew Chapter 7. Let us pray.
- 0:06Lord, you are so good to us. Thank you Father for all the
- 0:13many blessings you've given us. Thank you Father for waking us
- 0:17up. Thank you Father for life.
- 0:20Thank you Father for family. Lord, we just pray right now for
- 0:24the government. Lord, we pray for police
- 0:26officers and teachers, God, and mothers and fathers, God,
- 0:29children all over the world, Father, we just pray and lift
- 0:33them up to you, Father, and ask that you'll bring them into the
- 0:36fold with us. Lord, I pray in the name of
- 0:38Jesus for safety and security. God, around the little ones
- 0:43hearts and minds. God, I pray that you will help
- 0:47them to grow and to mature. Father, help us, Lord, to
- 0:51consecrate the temple. Help us, Lord, to step into our
- 0:57bridal identity. Help us, Father, to know that we
- 1:00know that we know that we're going to be there with you.
- 1:03Lord, I pray that we are not the ones that you say you never knew
- 1:09us. Lord, we desire to be known.
- 1:11Lord, we ask that you'll search us.
- 1:15God in cleanse us, Father, and to know us, Lord.
- 1:22And I pray in the name of Jesus, Father, that you'll heal us from
- 1:26on high and hear us from on high.
- 1:30And we are thankful for the veil.
- 1:32We're thankful for the holiest of holy places being torn down
- 1:36and us being able to enter in. And I pray, Father, that we can
- 1:41dine with you and Sup with you and love on you and be loved on
- 1:45by you. Thank you Lord Jesus, thank you
- 1:48for all the things that you do for us and for the sacrifice of
- 1:52the cross, and thank you for life eternal.
- 1:54Thank you that where you are we will be.
- 1:58Thank you that you went to prepare a place for us.
- 2:00Thank you that there are many rooms, there are many mansions
- 2:05in our Father's house. So God, we love you and we just
- 2:10want to please you and we just want more of you and we just
- 2:14want you. God I pray Holy Spirit teach us
- 2:18today, fill us today. We decrease as you increase.
- 2:23Father, it's in Jesus name we pray, Amen.
- 2:28Let's start in verse one. Judge not that you be not
- 2:36judged. Wow, what a verse that gets
- 2:40taken out of context. Did you know believer that you
- 2:43are actually called to judge those within the church and did
- 2:47you not know believer that you will judge the angels?
- 2:52This is a verse that we could very easily think that it's just
- 2:57acceptance of every sin and acceptance of all lifestyles and
- 3:01is not so here, friends, This is the idea behind verse 1 is that
- 3:10if you judge others, make sure you pull the plank out of your
- 3:14own eye. Make sure you're not a
- 3:17hypocrite. If you judge others, make sure
- 3:22that it is your brother and your sister that you're going to.
- 3:28The world is going to do what the world does.
- 3:32Lost people do what lost people do, friends.
- 3:38The judgment that we are allowed to are those that call
- 3:43themselves believers. Don't forget it, friends.
- 3:50And he's telling us in verse 2, for with what judgement you
- 3:55judge, you shall be judged, and with what measure you need, it
- 3:59shall be measured to you. Again, he's saying that with the
- 4:02measurement that you heap upon others is the same measurement
- 4:06that will get used to you. What I have told my children and
- 4:10whatever, what I have told my friends and my family is that
- 4:14when you go around judging others, you will sense that same
- 4:18judgement upon you. There are a lot of people who
- 4:21pass judgement on others and and they wonder why they're so
- 4:25incredibly self conscience and they don't like how they look in
- 4:32the mirror and they don't like their body type.
- 4:35But these are the same people that pass so much judgment on
- 4:39other people. And that is what I believe is
- 4:41being talked about here, friends.
- 4:43It is that same kind of judgment that you have to live with
- 4:48inside of your own self, and whenever you're going around and
- 4:52you're making fun of people, that same voice will sit and
- 4:56make fun of you while you look at yourself in the mirror.
- 4:59That is what is being talked about here. 3 And why behold you
- 5:07the mote that is in your brother's eye, but consider not
- 5:11the beam that is in your own eye.
- 5:13He's saying don't go and try to pull the speck out of your
- 5:16brother's eye when you have an entire log sticking out of your
- 5:21own. And this looks like us dealing
- 5:26with the log in our own eye before we go.
- 5:30It is not saying don't judge it all.
- 5:33It's saying deal with the plank in your own eye for or how will
- 5:40you say to your brother, let me pull out the mote out of your
- 5:43eye and behold the beam is in your own eye.
- 5:47This is ridiculous. It's saying God is saying Jesus
- 5:52is saying here. He's saying deal with your own
- 5:57stuff before you go trying to pull something on somebody else.
- 6:03Trying to pull out the speck out of your brother's eye.
- 6:06Whenever you are being duplicious and hypocritical 5.
- 6:11You hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of your own eye,
- 6:16and then you shall see clearly to cast out the Moat out of your
- 6:20brother's eye. That's exactly what I was
- 6:23saying. Jesus here is telling us, deal
- 6:26with the beam, deal with the log, deal with the 2 by 4.
- 6:31Sticking out of your own eye and they can see the hypocrisy in
- 6:37that. Whenever your life doesn't add
- 6:39up and you're trying to go around pointing the finger at
- 6:43people who aren't living right. 6 Give not that which is holy
- 6:50unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before swine, lest they
- 6:55trample them under their feet and turn again and rend you. 6
- 7:00is a picture of what it looks like whenever Saints are trying
- 7:05to share these deep spiritual truths with unbelievers.
- 7:11And they ridicule and it's funny and they tear you apart and
- 7:16persecute you and they go around and they tell everybody how
- 7:20ridiculous the things that you believe are.
- 7:24And here we are trying to be good stewards of God's goodness
- 7:28and grace and love and mercy to the world.
- 7:31But we need to have discernment, friends, and that is what verse
- 7:346 is telling us. Have discernment, the Bible also
- 7:40tells us later on and we'll study it together.
- 7:43It says warn A divisive person once and then mourn them again
- 7:50after that. Have nothing to do with them,
- 7:52for you can be sure that they are warped and self condemned.
- 7:58And that is what is referenced here in verse 6-7.
- 8:04Ask and it shall be given. You seek and you shall find.
- 8:08Knock and it will be opened unto you.
- 8:11So here God is encouraging us to pray.
- 8:15He's telling us don't just be satisfied with asking.
- 8:19Don't just give up whenever we're seeking.
- 8:24He's saying knock down the door. Don't stop knocking.
- 8:29He's telling us to make sure that we do not give up.
- 8:34Make sure that we are the persistent widow.
- 8:38Make sure that we are the neighbor who won't let the other
- 8:41neighbors sleep. Make sure that we are just
- 8:44constantly, consistently bringing our needs and our
- 8:49desires unto God Almighty and watch how He provides.
- 8:54God wants your dialogue friends, I cannot say it enough.
- 9:00God will increase your prayer life one way or the other.
- 9:09A for everyone that asks, receives and he that seeks finds
- 9:14and to him that knocks, it will be open.
- 9:18Jesus said, I stand at the door and knock.
- 9:21Anyone who opens the door, I will come in and Sup with them.
- 9:25Open the door, seek him and find him.
- 9:28Ask and you will receive. This is simple encouragement.
- 9:34God is telling us to increase our prayer life. 9 Or what man
- 9:39is there of you whom, if his Son asks for bread, he'll give him a
- 9:43stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish,
- 9:46he'll give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know
- 9:51how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall
- 9:55your Father, which is in heaven, give good things to them that
- 9:59ask him? Jesus is showing us that God
- 10:03Almighty is a good and loving Father and He's patient and he's
- 10:07kind. And us as parents, even the most
- 10:12evil parents, we try our best to be good parents unto our
- 10:19children. And you might have it all messed
- 10:23up and think that being a good parent looks one way.
- 10:26And there are a lot of other people who look down the nose
- 10:29and they think that you are despicable and your parenting.
- 10:34But deep down a mother cares and deep down a father cares.
- 10:40And it might not be a very good example because of how you were
- 10:46raised and because of all of the byproducts and all the mess in
- 10:52the baggage. But he's saying that you, even
- 10:56us who call ourselves believers and who are blood bought and
- 11:00born again in comparison to God Almighty, we are evil and God is
- 11:08good and our goodness comes from him.
- 11:11And he's saying that God in heaven will see what we need and
- 11:15he will make sure to take care of us.
- 11:18Friends, we can count on that. 12 Therefore all things,
- 11:23whatever you would that men should do to you, do you Even so
- 11:29to them. For this is the law of the
- 11:31prophet. So all of the Old Testament
- 11:34righteousness is wrapped up in this, in Jesus Christ.
- 11:39He is showing us how we should love our neighbor as ourselves.
- 11:4613 Enter you in the Strait gate, for wide is the gate and broad
- 11:53is the way that leads to destruction.
- 11:56And many there be which go in there at So he's saying that we
- 12:02need to enter in through the narrow gate.
- 12:05Enter in the straight way for broad and wide is the way that
- 12:09leads to destruction. He's showing us here that Jesus
- 12:14is the gate. He's showing us that only a few
- 12:18find it. He's showing us here that most
- 12:21people choose the highway to hell, the fast and easy, the
- 12:27culturally accepted way, the way that is counter to God's way.
- 12:34And he's showing us here that we need to enter in through Jesus
- 12:38Christ. 14 because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way
- 12:43that leads to life, and few there be that find it.
- 12:48I pray to God that you're one of the few.
- 12:50I pray to God that you enter in that his sheep hear his voice.
- 12:55I pray to God that this is not just a game to you.
- 12:58I pray to God that you are actually entering in the
- 13:02straight and narrow way. Most people that you meet are
- 13:08not going to be there. Only the few find it. 15 Beware
- 13:16of false prophets which come to you in sheep's clothing, but
- 13:20inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
- 13:23Here is a very, very clear mandate from God is that in the
- 13:32last days there will be false teachers and there will be false
- 13:36prophets, and they sure will look the part.
- 13:40But inwardly they're just after your money.
- 13:45Inwardly they're just after mass manipulation.
- 13:50And we need to be on guard for those who use God's word for
- 13:55their own selfish gain. 16 You shall know them by their fruits.
- 14:01Do men gather grapes of thorns or figs of thistles?
- 14:06So he's telling us that we will know who belongs to him, who
- 14:11belongs to God by the fruit that we bear.
- 14:13And he's going to go a little bit deeper into this, but we
- 14:17need to know that all the trees that bear no fruit and all the
- 14:22trees that bear bad fruit are gathered up for the fire. 17
- 14:28Even so, every good tree brings forth good fruit, but a corrupt
- 14:32tree brings forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear, cannot
- 14:38bring forth evil fruit, and neither can a corrupt tree bring
- 14:41forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that brings not forth good fruit
- 14:47is cut down and cast into the fire. 20 Therefore by their
- 14:52fruits you shall know them. He tells us in 16 You shall know
- 14:58them by their fruits He tells us in 20 Therefore by their fruits
- 15:02you shall know them. He's making it plain.
- 15:05He's making it clear. This is a warning against false
- 15:08teachers. This is a test for us.
- 15:11We cannot just fall into a ministry that tickles our ears
- 15:15and tells us everything that we want to hear.
- 15:17This prosperity gospel is nonsense.
- 15:23There's a lot of people who are trying to teach all kinds of
- 15:26false doctrine, and they don't truly have the heart of God.
- 15:30They don't truly hear from God. They're only using God's word as
- 15:34a manipulative tool to lead you astray and to lead you away.
- 15:39And God says that you'll know them by the fruit that they
- 15:42bear. There's a lot of false teachers
- 15:47that only care about financial gain. 21 Not everyone that says
- 15:57unto me, Lord, Lord shall enter into the Kingdom of heaven, but
- 16:04he that does the will of my Father, which is in heaven.
- 16:08So here he's going to show us what it looks like when these
- 16:11wolves in sheep clothes, whenever these ravenous beasts
- 16:17who are dressed up in suit and ties, what they look like he,
- 16:22these are the ones who are going to stand before him one day and
- 16:26say, Lord, Lord, what is he going to say to them?
- 16:31He says, 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we
- 16:35not prophesied in your name, and in your name cast out devils,
- 16:41and in your name done many wonderful works?
- 16:4323 And I will profess unto them, I never knew you depart from me,
- 16:50you that work iniquity. So God here in 21 and 22 and 23.
- 16:55This should be the most sobering verses of the entire Bible.
- 17:04This is where we are called to work out our salvation with fear
- 17:09and trembling. These are the verses right here.
- 17:19They draw the line in the sand, friends.
- 17:21There are many who have religious activity, but they
- 17:23don't truly know him and they are not known by him.
- 17:27They wake up, they go to church, they read the Bible, they listen
- 17:30to Christian music. They do all the things
- 17:32outwardly, but inwardly they're ravenous wolves.
- 17:36And there are a lot of people who are doing the will of
- 17:40Father, and they're not seeking to be seen or known, but God
- 17:45knows them. Jesus knows them.
- 17:47They are known by him. In the grace of God rest upon
- 17:51them. These are the ones who are
- 17:55barefoot in a dirt Hut pushing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- 18:01They're the ones who are concerned with discipleship.
- 18:04These are the ones who do not seek man's approval. 24
- 18:12Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, I
- 18:16will liken him unto a wise man who builds his house upon a
- 18:21rock. Notice in 24 He says these
- 18:24sayings of mine. This is God Incarnate.
- 18:28This is the authority of God Almighty being spoken of through
- 18:32Jesus Christ. He has all the authority of the
- 18:35Father. He's telling us the heart of God
- 18:38right here. He's telling us how to build our
- 18:40house on the rock where the gates of hell will not prevail.
- 18:4525 The rain descended, the floods came, the winds blew.
- 18:50They beat upon that house, and it did not fall, for it was
- 18:55founded upon a rock. That rock is the chief
- 18:57cornerstone. That rock is Jesus Christ.
- 19:00And when the cares and the tares of this world come in and try to
- 19:04choke us out, we are founded upon God Almighty.
- 19:08We're founded upon the rock. We are connected to the God of
- 19:12Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and we cannot be shaken. 26 Everyone
- 19:19that hears these sayings of mine, and they do not do them,
- 19:23they shall be like the foolish man who builds his house on the
- 19:27sand. 27 The rain descended, the floods came, the winds blew,
- 19:33they beat upon the house and it fell, and there was a great
- 19:37fall. What's he talking about here?
- 19:40He's talking about those who hear Jesus's words.
- 19:43They have access to the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, 66
- 19:49books, the spoken authority of God Almighty, the Rhema,
- 19:54friends, they have access to it, but they care nothing for it.
- 19:57They're chasing after Mammon. They're chasing after selfish
- 20:01greed. They want this world.
- 20:03They want everything in this world.
- 20:05And he says when the rains came and the winds blew, these are
- 20:08the cares of the world coming in.
- 20:11They offed themselves. They committed suicide.
- 20:16They fell into a reprobate mind. They fell into insanity.
- 20:22They could not handle the pressures of this world.
- 20:26It crushed them. It asphyxiated them.
- 20:29It wrapped its cords and tentacles around their throats
- 20:33and choked them out. And there was no peace in their
- 20:38lives because they had built their house on the sinking sand.
- 20:42Friends, 28 And it came to pass. When Jesus had ended these
- 20:50sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine. 29
- 20:58For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the
- 21:02scribes. Here we can understand this
- 21:08scene. We can take ourselves and we can
- 21:11look at it with a bird's eye view and we can see that when
- 21:16Jesus walked this earth and when Jesus launched his ministry and
- 21:21when Jesus would give this sermon, he had amassed so many
- 21:27people to himself and it was looking as if it was a overthrow
- 21:35of the government. It was looking as if Jesus was
- 21:39amassing an army. There were so many people who
- 21:43had come to him. And here it's saying that they
- 21:46all were astonished because of the authority that he spoke
- 21:51with. He was not trying to reference
- 21:57what certain priests or prophets were saying at the time, these
- 22:04false prophets and all of these religious leaders.
- 22:07He was not trying to lean on their wisdom.
- 22:11He had all the wisdom of God. He was the Godhead in bodily
- 22:18form. This is the heart of God.
- 22:20Go back and read chapter 5. Go back and read chapter 6 and
- 22:25you will understand here in Chapter 7 the authority that
- 22:30Jesus spoke with that astonished the crowds and he still speaks
- 22:35to us today through these words. They're just as relevant today
- 22:39as they were then. This is the mandate upon our
- 22:42lives, friends. This is how we should govern our
- 22:45families and govern our bodies and govern our thoughts,
- 22:49friends, and our actions and our finances.
- 22:52Friends, this is the Christian walk right here.
- 22:56Chapter 567123. You can see it.
- 23:03It's beautiful. We should hover here and we
- 23:10should be preoccupied with Jesus's words.
- 23:16It is building your house upon the rock.
- 23:19This is what it looks like. Go back and read it.
- 23:22Go back and study it. Don't gloss over make notes.
- 23:26Journal friends. This is the game changer for the
- 23:29Christian. Walt.
- 23:32If you want to up your faith, we need to be incorporating all of
- 23:37these things that Jesus told us in the last three chapters into
- 23:41our walk with him. This is how we please God,
- 23:46friends, obeying these words, understanding these words,
- 23:52meditating upon these words. Jesus Christ, the same
- 24:00yesterday, today, and forever. Amen.
- 24:02I hope you've been blessed by this chapter here in Matthew.
- 24:07I know I sure have. It's helped me all throughout my
- 24:11life as I've become a believer and as I've incorporated these
- 24:17things into my thought processes and into my day-to-day
- 24:21interaction with people. It sure has helped me and it
- 24:25will help you. I'm praying for every single one
- 24:28of you. I love you, so does God.
- 24:37We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 24:38God bless you.
