- 2:06Good, bad, indifferent. I need I need anything and
- 2:09everything I could get. But anyway, let's dive into the
- 2:13main thing of everything. So let's dive.
- 2:15Into the first big match up that happened this past Saturday #1
- 2:19Texas travels to Kneeland Stadium.
- 2:21Take on #14 Tennessee in. What kind of ended up being a,
- 2:26I'm not going to say a disappointing game, but it was
- 2:30definitely one of those it, it was kind of a defensive
- 2:34stalemate and I think a lot of people expected it because of
- 2:36Tennessee's defense being really good.
- 2:38Texas's defense is supposed to be really good, but I think most
- 2:41people want. Arch to take that next step and.
- 2:45I have some statistics to kind of.
- 2:47Show from. The game that shows.
- 2:50Arch is still being Arch. And I think we need to kind of
- 2:53take a step back as far as the. Kind of unrealistic expectations
- 2:58that everybody has for Arch Manning, given what he was able
- 3:02to produce. So looking.
- 3:04At some of the statistics that we have here on screen, and if
- 3:10you're not able to see it, you know, on screen, definitely let
- 3:13me know. This is what we're this is what
- 3:16we're working with as far as what how the game ended up
- 3:20ultimately being. Texas had 200 and 6212 yards,
- 3:24Tennessee 221. Pretty similar rush yards 61 to
- 3:2770. 201 passing yards to 151 third down.
- 3:31They were both about 25% and Texas had the one O 1.
- 3:36Turnover, which was the interception from March.
- 3:40It really wasn't a terrible game.
- 3:43Like truthfully, this was. Not a bad game whatsoever.
- 3:46Arch was 14 and 19 with the pick. 201 yards where I think
- 3:52people really got, I think where people get flustered with Arch
- 3:56is they. Expect him to have.
- 3:57These really big games, they. Expect him to have.
- 3:59These, you know, 2 to 300 yard. Blowouts.
- 4:02They expect him to be throwing, you know, 3-4 and five
- 4:05touchdowns every single week, and that's really not realistic
- 4:08because there's not a lot of quarterbacks.
- 4:09That do that already in college and you you're definitely not
- 4:12going to see that against big time opponents and especially
- 4:15any opponents that you would consider quality right.
- 4:18Like if if Arch came in and did this to Tennessee, if they
- 4:20completely blew Tennessee out, we're we're going to sit here
- 4:23and be like, then Tennessee's not really that good.
- 4:26If Arch is able to drop, you know, 4 tutties.
- 4:28On the way that's just not realistic.
- 4:30So this this is where I would tell people, you know, kind of,
- 4:35you know, to like pump, pump the brakes a little bit.
- 4:38It's not. It's not to.
- 4:39The end of the world. He he was decent.
- 4:42And then on the other side, you know, Faison Brandon did so much
- 4:46better than what? I thought he was going to do
- 4:48when I was, when I was watching him against George Tech, even
- 4:51when I watched him against some of the Group of Six teams at
- 4:53Tennessee was playing, I was like, man, he I'm like, there's
- 4:57just something. Not there like there's, there's
- 4:58just. Something missing?
- 5:00He's a freshman. He's a 5.
- 5:01Star. He's very highly touted.
- 5:03They picked him over George McIntyre, who was already in the
- 5:06system last year, who was a freshman last year in a
- 5:08sophomore this year. And I'm like, OK, that says
- 5:12something. That's like they, they were
- 5:13putting all their chips in the basket like, hey, we potentially
- 5:16are going to have this guy longer than George.
- 5:18And even though George has already been in the system, he
- 5:20already knows a little bit better.
- 5:22We're going to go with the, we're going to go with the with
- 5:24the young. Buck and I think it ultimately
- 5:27ended up paying off, you know, he.
- 5:29Had 100 and 145 passing yards. He was 17 and 29, a touchdown to
- 5:35at least keep him in the game. Of course, the hint of coming
- 5:38out and saying the onside kick that Tennessee did is
- 5:41technically not legal, but that's retroactively not like
- 5:45they're going to change or do anything different about it.
- 5:49I think for the moment, I think for what it was who they had to.
- 5:54Face and when I think Tennessee more than than met the standard
- 6:00and met the capability. I think this is a Tennessee team
- 6:03with Josh Hypel at the helm with the type of quarterback he likes
- 6:07to run as far as a very, you know, deep spread offense of sit
- 6:11back in the pocket kind of look. But then also use your mobility
- 6:14to your advantage with a kid like Brandon at the at the helm,
- 6:18I think. Tennessee's in a very good shape
- 6:20for a very long time. I do want to flip back a little
- 6:23bit to Texas. As far as what?
- 6:25Hurt them the most in this game that was.
- 6:28Penalties. They had 11 penalties for 115
- 6:32yards. Like that's crazy and they still
- 6:35were able. To win.
- 6:37So that shows you the potential Texas has, but they also give
- 6:41credit to Tennessee's. Defense where credit is due in
- 6:44the fact of even with that, they were able to hold this within
- 6:49three. Now they started to pull away a
- 6:51little bit. It was 20 to 10 there for a
- 6:53while. Tennessee's finally able to go
- 6:55down, score, get the onside kick and then try again.
- 6:59They ultimately end up failing because.
- 7:01Texas really put the pressure on at that point.
- 7:04But nonetheless, I mean, this was so much better than what I
- 7:07thought it was going to be. Like, wholeheartedly I thought.
- 7:10I didn't think this was going to be as good as it did and as good
- 7:14as it was, but it it completely blew.
- 7:17Everything out of the water as far as expectations go so I have
- 7:22I have absolutely no complaints there let's.
- 7:25Move on to the game. That this was not only a
- 7:28surprise. This is a disappointment.
- 7:31And that's Oklahoma at Georgia. I mean this, this was just bad.
- 7:37I mean the, the, this, this is this is just the statistics.
- 7:41That we're looking at here. And here's what's really bad
- 7:44when you look at the statistics. Not that bad, not.
- 7:47That much of a difference Oklahoma 296 to to Georgia's
- 7:51three O 610 yard difference. I mean, Georgia was able to run
- 7:55the ball a little bit better, you know, 129 to 65.
- 7:58But then Oklahoma, believe it or not, with everything John Metir
- 8:02was they still had 231 passing yards and Georgia had 177.
- 8:09Now you would think with a. Score of 41 to 13.
- 8:11You would think, OK, Georgia's offense had to be cooking.
- 8:15Oh, it was just their defense like.
- 8:18One of them was a 85 yard fumble return for a touchdown where the
- 8:21ball just comes out of Metir's hand.
- 8:23He's not hit. He's not.
- 8:25It's not like he's, you know, dropped.
- 8:27It's not even like he shoelace tripped or anything, like he
- 8:30legitimately just dropped the ball.
- 8:34And it was returned for a touchdown.
- 8:35So I mean, that's that's a point for the defense.
- 8:40You've got a 54 yard run by Georgia and then other than that
- 8:45it's field. Goals and it's just.
- 8:47Short touchdowns, like 35 yards is the deepest throw that
- 8:51Georgia did that game, and they even had two turnovers.
- 8:55Compared to Oklahoma's 4. So I mean Stockton was 14 at
- 9:0025171, a touchdown and pick. Metir and and here's kind of the
- 9:06crazy part, because when I was first when I first saw the score
- 9:09and I kind of watched the game. You know, I'm like, it's got to
- 9:13be Metir. I'm seeing all the mistakes that
- 9:15Metir is making. I'm like it might be time to
- 9:17make a. Change.
- 9:18Here's the Here's the really crazy part.
- 9:21He was 25 at 34. Two.
- 9:22Touchdowns. A pick. 231 yards now, their
- 9:25running game absolutely nonexistent.
- 9:27Their best receiver is a tight end and beers like that's that's
- 9:32already not a good start. This is what probably surprises.
- 9:37Me just the most about this is. As bad as we want to critique
- 9:46matir, myself including. I don't know if he's.
- 9:50Necessarily the only problem that Oklahoma has.
- 9:54Like, yeah, he, he looked bad against Michigan, and yeah, he's
- 9:58looked bad against. Georgia and I don't think and
- 10:02they didn't look great against New Mexico.
- 10:03They only won that 14 to 6, but it and even then, like he like
- 10:11numbers wise, you look at him and it's like, OK, you know, he
- 10:14was 19 to 25, two touchdowns, but he had two picks and he had
- 10:18238 yards. You have to wonder what is the
- 10:24issue? But I'm gonna be honest at the
- 10:27same time, like we, we can look at him statistically.
- 10:32I mean he's got 8 touchdowns. And four picks so far this year
- 10:35with just under 900 yards. But he's a QBR of just under 60
- 10:40like and he's completing 66% of his passes.
- 10:45It it's one of those. You look at his stats and it's
- 10:47like, man, you, you're not having a bad year, but you're
- 10:50not having a great year either. And again, has it been Arbuckle?
- 10:55Is it just the fact that Oklahoma doesn't have the
- 10:57greatest weapons for him to throw to or or does he have some
- 11:02kind of a mental block that is just.
- 11:04Preventing him from, you know, taking that next step forward.
- 11:09Like I, I don't know what it is. I don't know if Oklahoma should
- 11:14make a change and and if they do, who is that change and what
- 11:18does it look like, you know, is the backup?
- 11:20Quarterback good enough to make a difference for them.
- 11:24Like, truly. Is is he good enough because
- 11:29again, statistically and whether it's garbage time, whether it's
- 11:33not like he he's putting up numbers now he's not going to
- 11:38wow you with. Those numbers, but he is putting
- 11:40up numbers. But it does really make me
- 11:44wonder with the offense and then has the.
- 11:47Defense regressed a little bit under bread medibles because I
- 11:50mean, last year that was their stronghold.
- 11:51But they were great in defense and it's like they've just
- 11:55fallen apart. So I don't know.
- 11:59I don't really know what the solution is for him.
- 12:02I don't know if it's if it's time to get a new offensive
- 12:06coordinator, maybe have somebody else call the plays, if it's
- 12:09time to just, you know. Move on from a tier and try
- 12:12somebody else for a little bit or.
- 12:13Not, but that was. Absolutely a rough.
- 12:17Game, I mean 41 to 13 like that is that is just rough.
- 12:23But Speaking of rough and it, it's kind of a poetic beauty.
- 12:31And I don't want to take any extra.
- 12:32Seconds on this pun intentionally included Michigan
- 12:40versus Iowa. This game, this was not the most
- 12:46sexy game. This was not.
- 12:48This was one of those. I was watching it.
- 12:50It was like 6:50. It was 13 to 7.
- 12:53And it's like, OK, when are you guys going to do something
- 12:57different? And then it was like 19 to 7 and
- 13:01then Iowa. Starts to storm back.
- 13:03It's like 19 to 13 and I'm like, oh or yeah, 19 at 13.
- 13:08I'm like, OK, I'm like, well, they're within a score.
- 13:11Is IO gonna be able to do it? And with two seconds left.
- 13:15Hank Brown throws to their wide receiver in the corner of the
- 13:19end zone towards the sideline and he.
- 13:22Toe taps with two seconds left as time expires to catch the
- 13:27ball and scores the touchdown to win the game.
- 13:31Like you, you cannot ask for anything better than that.
- 13:39This is one of those it, it finally caught up with Michigan
- 13:43like this has been won. They're they're really all year.
- 13:47If you look at all of Michigan's games, they have been, which is
- 13:52ridiculously close. I mean, everybody knows if you
- 13:56follow college football, Western Michigan, they they win it by
- 13:59one point. Oklahoma.
- 14:01They win it by a touchdown, 17 and 10 UTEP.
- 14:04Now the score doesn't look like they were struggling, but at
- 14:09half time it was 17 to 14 Michigan.
- 14:13Like they were only up by a field goal.
- 14:14Now they turned it up in the third because they dropped 28
- 14:18points, but it's like they played close every single game
- 14:27like. Looking at the UTEP.
- 14:29Stats, right? Because I don't have them up
- 14:30here. Bryce was 19 to 25.
- 14:34Two. 123 yards. And two touchdowns, like really
- 14:39that's your like. That's your bread and butter and
- 14:43I'm trying to see what else he had as far as he only had 20.
- 14:46Two rushing yards like. Why are you struggling?
- 14:50This bad like, and this is what I I really dislike because I, I
- 14:54like Coach Whittingham as a coach.
- 14:58I mean, watching him, hey, Utah for all of those years, seeing
- 15:02how he kept Utah competitive, he made them relevant.
- 15:07You know he built Utah as a foundation.
- 15:09And there's a reason why Michigan was able to pull him
- 15:12out of retirement, to bring him in to at least have a solid
- 15:16foundation there in Ann Arbor. And it it's working.
- 15:20Like, I think no matter what happens, whether I don't think
- 15:25Michigan will go to the playoffs, I don't think anything
- 15:27crazy. Like that's going to happen, but
- 15:30I think with him being there. It.
- 15:34Gives Michigan a good chance to kind of get back to being the
- 15:39Michigan of old of strong competitive football.
- 15:44You know, they're they're going to be in games, they're not
- 15:46going to get blown out. They're not going to do anything
- 15:48crazy. But it is it is just nuts that
- 15:52they played down to so many teams and they kept it this
- 15:57close to me. Heck, they end up losing this
- 15:59by. One and of course, everybody.
- 16:01'S making the joke they don't need any extra time to be able
- 16:03to do so. So this was one it was like it's
- 16:08kind of a a sweet irony that that Michigan loses this.
- 16:13The offense does look better. I mean 276 pass yards, 153
- 16:17rushing. I mean 429 yards of.
- 16:20Total offense like that, that's about as good as an offense as
- 16:24you can get. Like that's as much as.
- 16:26You can ask for. So I mean, there does seem to be
- 16:29fixes there, but there there's still a lot of questions and
- 16:34penalties are hurting. You know they had eight.
- 16:36Penalties for 75 yards in this game they are.
- 16:39It it does not seem like. They are a very well
- 16:43disciplined. Team.
- 16:45Which again is is crazy considering.
- 16:48It it's Kyle Woodingham and, and how he runs his teams.
- 16:51So that's the. That's.
- 16:54The crazy part, Andy, on the other hand, before I before I
- 16:57get off this topic, you know Iowa with offense like their
- 17:01last, their last drive. Right.
- 17:05So there's under 2 minutes on the clock, they get the ball
- 17:07back, they score in in 11 plays, they go 91 yards, so almost the
- 17:13entire length of the field. In a minute and 46 seconds to
- 17:19get the game-winning touchdown to end it.
- 17:23That is insane to. Hear from.
- 17:26Iowa of all teams, like if, if you would have told me Iowa was
- 17:31going to do that, I'm like, no, there's no way, no way.
- 17:35And they ultimately made me eat my words.
- 17:37But big, big shout out. I think if I remember, I, I
- 17:41picked Iowa to win this game just because it's like, I don't
- 17:45really trust, I don't know, I don't trust Michigan with this.
- 17:49It's like they've been, they've been making too many mistakes.
- 17:51They've had too many issues. Like I'm just, I don't trust
- 17:54them. I do not trust them.
- 17:56But nonetheless, it was a, it was a better game than what I
- 18:00thought was going to happen This game.
- 18:03Now this is kind of backtracking a little bit because this was
- 18:05technically the Friday night game.
- 18:08The Indiana Hoosiers, my home state team, struggled.
- 18:13And I mean struggled in their in their debut well.
- 18:20Not. Season debut, but their debut
- 18:23against Power 14 in Northwestern, the first true
- 18:26power. 14 they faced since winning their national
- 18:31championship and the the stats is what's the most crazy because
- 18:40when you look at it. You know, IU had 472 total
- 18:43yards, 271 rushing yards, 201 passing yards, and you look at
- 18:48that and you're like, OK, like IU.
- 18:51Had dominate and I definitely got the score wrong on this
- 18:55graphic, but Indiana wins 29 to 20.
- 18:59Three over Northwestern Aiden titles looked as good as
- 19:05advertised, like he looked as he did when he was at Oregon State.
- 19:09He definitely took a little bit of a a step back, even following
- 19:12Jonathan Smith from Oregon State to Michigan State and and it's
- 19:17crazy because he had tied up, you know, he had a talent like
- 19:20Nick Marsh. He's got Antonio Gates sun
- 19:22there. It it's not.
- 19:24Like Michigan State has a bunch of scrubs.
- 19:26Now I'm not going to. Sit here and say they're like.
- 19:28You know, top tier contending, but.
- 19:31It's just crazy how poorly they ended up doing as a whole.
- 19:37But I mean and the and the. 1st. Half is what's also a little bit
- 19:40crazy because you you look at the first half of this game and
- 19:45it was it wasn't pretty. Yeah, it was it was 12 to
- 19:51nothing like IU got a safety to start the game that ended up
- 19:55putting him up ahead by two, which is kind of the.
- 19:57The reason for the odd score? But then it's like Northwestern
- 20:01just absolutely turned it on there at the end, and they look
- 20:05like a completely different football.
- 20:06Team like they look, I'm not going to say they look
- 20:10dangerous, but they look like if they put it together they they
- 20:17could do some damage in the big 10 now again, I don't.
- 20:19Think they're going to the playoffs?
- 20:21I don't think they're going to do anything crazy like that.
- 20:23Now. They might be a playoff spoiler
- 20:27to some teams. Just look at their schedule.
- 20:30They host Penn State this coming Friday.
- 20:33That'll be the debut of their new stadium, actually.
- 20:36Then they host Ball State. That should be pretty, pretty
- 20:39good win for them. So I mean, they could
- 20:41potentially be sitting there at 4:00 and 2:00 maybe.
- 20:46Even 5:00 and 1:00, if they get, I guess, what would be
- 20:49considered an upset win over Penn State.
- 20:53So, I mean, that's possible. Then they go to Michigan State.
- 20:55You know, Pat's fit. Pat Fitzgerald gets to face his
- 20:57old team. Then they face Rutgers.
- 21:00What's this new Rutgers scene look like since they did a
- 21:02quarterback change but then they have to go to Oregon?
- 21:05That might be a little bit of a different story.
- 21:06They host Iowa, that'll be tough.
- 21:08They go to Ohio State, not a whole lot of high expectations
- 21:11there to Minnesota and then they host Illinois.
- 21:16So I mean, their schedule is not the end of the world.
- 21:20Like you held your own against Indiana pretty well.
- 21:23And I feel like if you can do that, no matter how you feel
- 21:26about Indiana. Right, like there, there's still
- 21:29a lot of potential there. They're still the defending
- 21:31national champs. And obviously Kurt Signeti can
- 21:33coach really well. Like if you can hold your own
- 21:38against the defending national champs I would argue.
- 21:41You got a chance against anybody like you.
- 21:44You, you got a chance to beat almost anybody that you're going
- 21:47to face. So ultimately, I'm not going to
- 21:51say a disappointing. Game, but a kind of a surprising
- 21:53game more than anything. The one that was, believe it or
- 21:58not, not a surprise, was old Miss getting upset by Florida.
- 22:04Now technically upset because they're the number 14 in the
- 22:07country and Florida was #21. At the time, but Florida was
- 22:12actually favored by 4 and they beat them 52 to 28.
- 22:18And I mean, that was just from. From the get go, Florida
- 22:24absolutely dominated you look at the you look at the total yards
- 22:29here on screen on the graphic 426 to 498 by Florida and
- 22:36Florida ran all over them with 302 yards almost passed for
- 22:41260%, you know, conversion on 3rd down.
- 22:44Now, Florida did have a couple turnovers that did hurt him a
- 22:48little bit. But I mean, and, and here's the
- 22:51other crazy part, Ole Miss offensively, they're fine.
- 22:55Like they were, you know, 25 to 34 a touchdown.
- 22:59They had one pick from Trinidad Chambliss.
- 23:02He was also the lead rusher with 44 yards.
- 23:04Deuce Alexander had 134 receiving yards and a touchdown.
- 23:09The Ole misses defense makes me worry.
- 23:13You know, they they have a great offense, but you can definitely
- 23:16tell that defense is taking a step back now.
- 23:17I don't know if that's, you know, because last year they had
- 23:23you, you still had Charlie Weis calling the offense and Pete
- 23:26Golden could, you know, deal with the defense.
- 23:27So, and, and if anybody has watched the show before, I kind
- 23:33of said this is the only bad. Part that I have with defensive.
- 23:37Coaches is I feel that unless they have.
- 23:42That offensive coordinator, they can sit there and they can trust
- 23:46like, you know, hey. You, you are going to be the guy
- 23:49that runs the offense, which I'm not going to say defense isn't
- 23:53important. I'm not going to say defense is
- 23:55not a a huge difference maker because it is.
- 23:57It can. Carry teams a lot.
- 23:59I mean, look at Tennessee versus Texas kept.
- 24:02Them in that game. Even though the offense couldn't
- 24:04do much, that defense was absolutely keep them in there.
- 24:07Heck, the special team scored a kick return for a touchdown,
- 24:11which helped get Tennessee on the board and at least keep.
- 24:13Them in it so just just keep that in mind like that this was
- 24:26just it was crazy Philo Philo. I don't know how to enunciate
- 24:30his name. 16 to 23196 and a touchdown, you know, Ball 20. 9
- 24:36carries, 142 yards and three tutties for what it who's kind
- 24:42of undisputedly the best running back in the country right now?
- 24:46In ball. So this was one that it's funny,
- 24:51even Steve Sarkeesian during a press.
- 24:56Conference after this. Happened to see if Sarkeesian
- 25:00pointed out he's like, I've I've been trying to tell you all he's
- 25:01like I told you all last year. Florida is a very good team and
- 25:06I think they got a hell of a coach and John Summerall I think
- 25:09that with. Him there at the helm, him being
- 25:12a hell of a recruiter and him being able to keep.
- 25:14A lot of the talent. I mean, the biggest knocking
- 25:16against Billy Napier wasn't the fact that he couldn't recruit.
- 25:18Like Billy Napier was a hell of a recruiter.
- 25:21That man just couldn't coach. That man could not coach to save
- 25:24his life. He can't in GMU.
- 25:29He could have the he could have Louisiana.
- 25:32He just apparently couldn't have Florida.
- 25:35But for the fact that Summerall got to keep a lot of those guys,
- 25:37bring a lot of guys in and kind of make Florida like the old
- 25:43school team that it used to be like that Florida I think is
- 25:48going to be one of those teams that's a little bit dangerous
- 25:50now. I know he some are all
- 25:52mentioned. You know, they kind of had a
- 25:53five year play and he's like, well, why don't we just do it
- 25:55now? He's not wrong.
- 25:57If you can do it now, you know they do it now.
- 26:00Because I I think they have the boosters, I think they obviously
- 26:03have the fan support. I mean, Gator fans are
- 26:06everywhere. And and the.
- 26:09Conference is more. Fun when Florida's competitive,
- 26:12especially because you look at the schedule that Florida almost
- 26:14always has to face. Like Florida always has big time
- 26:18games that they have to deal with.
- 26:20Like, you know, next week they have Mizzou, you know, they have
- 26:24to take on South Carolina, which maybe not as good, but it's
- 26:28still there. They have to face Texas and
- 26:30Georgia. Obviously the big rivalry game.
- 26:33They face Oklahoma, they face Kentucky, they face Vandy, and
- 26:37then of course they end against Florida State, who is an SEC.
- 26:41But still like that they're they have big time matchups like you
- 26:45as of right now are. Facing the number one and #2
- 26:47team within the span of two weeks, you face Texas on the
- 26:5117th. And you face Georgia on
- 26:52Halloween with a break with one bye week break in between there
- 26:56like. That's a lot.
- 27:00So I mean, hats off to. Florida, I'm excited that
- 27:03they're better. I'm also.
- 27:04Happy that LSU doesn't have to face them.
- 27:07I guess I'm like, I don't know, I'd want LSU to face Florida
- 27:10this year. Not especially since DJ likewise
- 27:12gone. Because DJ likewise kind of
- 27:15what? Helped LSU win last year just
- 27:17because he, for whatever reason, like to throw the guys more in
- 27:20purple and gold than he did the guys in orange and blue.
- 27:25But but nonetheless ended up being a a game that definitely I
- 27:31think surpassed a lot of expectations, at least my own
- 27:34personal expectations, one that I only surpassed.
- 27:38Expectations for me, but was a surprise because this was a
- 27:42revenge game from last year, LSU hosts.
- 27:48Texas A&M for the second year in the row in Death Valley, and
- 27:54they dominate Texas A&M with little to no issue.
- 27:59Now there there are some. Key takeaways from this that I
- 28:03want to highlight that. It do make me a little bit
- 28:08worried as a whole in the long run and.
- 28:13I'll pull the. Graphic up here offensively,
- 28:17they're like they, they were fantastic.
- 28:20Like I couldn't ask for much better. 506 total yards, almost
- 28:25200 yards rushing on the ground. They continue to really, you
- 28:27know, highlight and focus on that run game. 312 passing yards
- 28:33from Sam Levitt like. This was probably the best game
- 28:37I have seen Sam Levitt play since being an LSU Tiger.
- 28:41Now I didn't. Watch him a whole lot at Arizona
- 28:43State. I mean, I saw some of the key
- 28:46highlights that he would do as far as the rolling out the crazy
- 28:49plays and whatnot. His stats never looked this good
- 28:53at Arizona State. Like truthfully, and I'm not
- 28:55saying that to like inflate and I'm not saying that as a diss to
- 28:59Arizona State because he has looked like mediocre.
- 29:04For LSU and for any LSU fans that are watching this, joy, if
- 29:07you're watching this, you can tell me if I'm I'm right or
- 29:09wrong. He, his best attribute has been
- 29:14his legs. I won't take that away from him.
- 29:17He won't deny that whatsoever. His best attribute has
- 29:20absolutely been his legs. Like that has helped keep that.
- 29:24That's helped keep a lot of drives going.
- 29:26That's helped, you know, keep a lot of things, you know, moving.
- 29:31But I, I mentioned it kind of at the beginning of the season when
- 29:34he's running against Clemson. I mentioned it against Louisiana
- 29:36Tech. I even mentioned it a little bit
- 29:38against Ole Miss like. You.
- 29:41Can't keep doing this. I'm going to take the rock, I'm
- 29:47going to put the entire team on my back and I'm just going to.
- 29:51Run with it because while, yes, you're probably going to make
- 29:55some electric plays and yes, you're even, you know, going to
- 29:58get a first down, you're going to do something crazy.
- 30:01And that's wonderful. I love seeing it occasionally.
- 30:06I don't want to see that the whole game, like as an LSU fan,
- 30:10as somebody who wants this to continue to be.
- 30:13Great and good for. A long time.
- 30:18This is not what I want to see from my star quarterback at all.
- 30:24I don't. I don't want to see it.
- 30:25I just, I just don't. He was 17 to 23312 yards, 2
- 30:32touchdowns. He did have an interception,
- 30:34which continues to be a pain in the butt issue.
- 30:39And he was doing this on one leg because his calf got hurt.
- 30:43So he couldn't run it. Even Lane Kiffin pointed it out
- 30:45like, yeah, this probably Sam's best game because he couldn't
- 30:47run like at what point for Lane and this And this would probably
- 30:54be one of the few times, at least early on in this, you
- 30:58know, relationship that Lee Giffen has being the head coach
- 31:02of LSU At at at what point do you and Charlie Weis Junior both
- 31:08sit down with Sam and go look, dude, you got to stop like
- 31:13believing that you got to just run, Like you got to trust it
- 31:16and it and I'm hoping, I really am hoping that with this game
- 31:23that it does two things. Because there's already rumors
- 31:26that Lane Kiffin's going to try to rest a lot of the starters
- 31:28against McNeese State this coming week before they get
- 31:33into, you know, more into the SEC schedule as as the year
- 31:38progresses, as they face McNeese and.
- 31:41Then they have to go to Kentucky.
- 31:42Not going to be easy. They have to host Mississippi
- 31:44State. Probably going to be crazy good.
- 31:49Then they have to go to Auburn. Not exactly a cupcake, but, you
- 31:53know, not exactly anybody to snuff off either.
- 31:55And then they get into probably the toughest 3 game stretch of
- 31:58their schedule. They host Alabama, then they
- 32:00host Texas, and then they have to go to Tennessee.
- 32:03Like. Three really tough games right
- 32:06there and you already have one loss against old miss to start
- 32:10the season, so you can you can get one more loss and it's not
- 32:16the end of the world. But again, you've got Kentucky,
- 32:19Mississippi State, Auburn, AL, Texas, Tennessee, and then
- 32:22Arkansas at the end of the year. You know, it's it's it's not a
- 32:27cupcake schedule. It's not something you're just.
- 32:29Going to be able to to walk through with no issue.
- 32:33You definitely can't do it with your quarterback trying to
- 32:36scramble. Be the hero and you know.
- 32:40You know, just do everything on his own.
- 32:42And so so I hope two things happens from this game.
- 32:44One I hope Sam gets better, but I hope he he sits there and he
- 32:49looks at it like, hey, I couldn't move and I did really
- 32:54well and we still won the game. Keep doing that, Sam, keep like
- 33:00trust your guys like trust the offense.
- 33:02Now I know for me, I'm I'm kind of one of those.
- 33:05I'm a victim of impatience of hey man, I'm not saying you got
- 33:12to be like. Perfect.
- 33:14I'm not saying you got to go out here and you'll light the world
- 33:16up. It'd be crazy with statistics
- 33:18and you'll throw in. Six touch challenge, you know,
- 33:20no, no, no, no. I got to be, I got to be
- 33:22realistic. This is a new, it's a new system
- 33:24for Sam. It's a new system being with
- 33:26Lane Kiffin. All of this is new for him.
- 33:29And I, I, I I do get that. But now we're we're four games
- 33:35in, we're 1/4 of the way through the season so far.
- 33:37So to me it's like, buddy, just just sit back, take your time,
- 33:43just. Look at it, you don't have to.
- 33:45Don't do nothing crazy. You know your your.
- 33:48Offensive line is doing good as far as protection goes.
- 33:51If you got to run a little bit, maybe get the run game open, do
- 33:54some crazy stuff, that's that. That's fine, please.
- 33:59Stop making that your first option to do because I feel like
- 34:02there's. Times that he just gets it and
- 34:03he's. Like all right, got.
- 34:04To the big play going to run. Please don't do that.
- 34:08Please don't do that, man. I want you to stay healthy.
- 34:09I want you to keep going. I want to ask you to have a good
- 34:12year this year. Like just please don't do that
- 34:15to me, man. But then on the other end.
- 34:18Texas A&M Dan, is that a mess? It's like Mike Elko lost both
- 34:23his coordinators and and this Texas A&M team looks.
- 34:27Night and day different from what they did 197 total yards,
- 34:32you know, 91 rushing, 106 passing, You know Marcel Reed,
- 34:3610, a 26 and a. Pick.
- 34:39He even ended up getting benched at the end.
- 34:44For Brady Hart to come in pretty highly tapped prospect that the
- 34:49Texas A&M was able to recruit which?
- 34:52I don't think. That's the end of the world, but
- 34:53it it starts to really make you wonder when people are
- 34:58questioning. Mike Elkum for oh, why do you
- 35:01have Marcel Reed in and he's having a defending like, hey,
- 35:03he's like fifth most in like passing yards in Texas A and in
- 35:07history like he has, you know, X amount of wins like he's a good.
- 35:10Quarterback for him. He went, he led them to like
- 35:1311:00 and 2:00 or 11:00 and 2:11 and 2:12 and 2:00.
- 35:18He led them to a substantially good win.
- 35:21You know, season last year they were 11 and one last year with
- 35:24their only loss coming to Texas. At the very end of the season
- 35:28last year. So I mean they.
- 35:31They're solid, but it it's just crazy.
- 35:37Kind of the. Doubters that Marcel Reed has.
- 35:38And I don't know if it's just him.
- 35:42It also doesn't help that even in that Kentucky game like.
- 35:45They lost a lot of their good receivers.
- 35:47Like they're having to deal with a bunch of guys that don't have
- 35:50a lot of experience. They don't have a lot of
- 35:51chemistry. They're already having to deal
- 35:53with the rebuild offensive line. You know when what's Isaiah
- 35:58Horton? Yeah, Isaiah Horton.
- 36:01You know, he's a senior coming over and he was, and he hasn't
- 36:04even been with Texas A&M his entire career.
- 36:07Like he's he's been with a bunch of other schools.
- 36:11Yeah. Like he was with, yeah.
- 36:15He was with Miami for three years from 2022 to 2025.
- 36:18He was with Alabama last year. And now he's with Texas A&M.
- 36:22So I mean, he's, he's been around for a minute.
- 36:26Like that was your best wide. Receiver.
- 36:28And even then, he was. Out for a little bit during the
- 36:32game. So I don't, I don't blame really
- 36:37this Texas A&N loss on anybody. I think it's a culmination of,
- 36:40you know, injuries. And just the coordinators not
- 36:42being there. But it's going to be a rough
- 36:46season for Texas A&M and I'll be, I'll be interested to see
- 36:49how does that. Correlate to their game against
- 36:52Arkansas, because I don't know if Arkansas's going to be the
- 36:54punching bag or if Arkansas's going to be able to kind of
- 36:57capitalize on a. Already kicked down Texas A&M
- 37:01team and if they can, you know, jump on that and just kind of
- 37:04continue. To run with that from there.
- 37:07But yeah, I just say I'm just please sit in the pocket.
- 37:11Stop trying to run. Stop trying to be a hero.
- 37:14I love it and I hate it at the same time.
- 37:15Please stop doing it. But the other game that was
- 37:22really good but at the same time was also really bad just because
- 37:27of what ended up happening in the game.
- 37:31Oregon versus USC and there was so much to take away from this
- 37:36game. And I mean so much to take away
- 37:38from it between. Dante Moore getting hurt.
- 37:43Between USC continuing to have struggles on defense as far as
- 37:50how they just really how the defense just continues to be an
- 37:56issue. For them, it doesn't seem to
- 38:00matter like what coordinators they get.
- 38:01It doesn't seem to matter who they recruit.
- 38:04It doesn't even seem to matter. You know what kind of practice?
- 38:06They get basically from beating up cupcake teams.
- 38:09It's like this defense just absolutely has issues.
- 38:14And it was funny because I was listening to this yesterday
- 38:18morning with with with Brady Quinn and Levar Arrington as
- 38:23they were kind of breaking it, breaking the game down.
- 38:26Like. This is a this is AUSC team that
- 38:30when you, when you think as college football fans of like
- 38:36blue blood teams, like great teams of the past, like big
- 38:40logos, you think of USC because of all the Heisman's that USC
- 38:46has had over the years. Like dozens of Heisman winners
- 38:50come out of USC, like they've had tons of NFL players.
- 38:53A ton of NFL Hall of Famers have come through USC, have been USC
- 38:58Trojans at some point. And it's like USC fans, they
- 39:04cling to, you know, the championships that they won back
- 39:08in 2005 and 2006. And it's like that was.
- 39:13Or not 2005, 2000, 2003, 2004. That was 20 years ago.
- 39:18Like you really haven't been relevant since.
- 39:24Like you get all these great recruiting classes.
- 39:26Like you recruit really well. You have even been able to
- 39:29flourish in an IL. Like you pay a lot of people you
- 39:33have. Great transfer portals you have.
- 39:36All of that. You have a brand new facility.
- 39:40And you still can't get it done and I just.
- 39:44I don't get why. You know Mayavo, 23 of 42326
- 39:50yards, 2 teddies and a pick. They had a great run game.
- 39:55I mean, they rushed for 120 yards.
- 39:57But on the same, you know on the other hand.
- 40:01Even though Oregon lost Dante Moore, you have probably one of
- 40:05the best backups in college football and Dylan Rayola come
- 40:09in. You know, all those starts, all
- 40:11that experience coming over from Nebraska, It was like their
- 40:14offense didn't miss a beat with Moore.
- 40:16Being gone 19 and 25289 and two teddies from from Rayola to come
- 40:22in as the backup like hasn't really started any like he's
- 40:27he's probably done some clean up duty but like.
- 40:30It's like Oregon didn't miss a beat with more out and Rayola in
- 40:35and 50% on their third downs. And for USC, when you faced
- 40:42Rutgers and you gave up 35. Like, and and you got to think,
- 40:49had they not gotten one of the pick sixes, it may have been
- 40:52even more than 35. Like they were really close to
- 40:56losing that game to Rutgers. And then Oregon turning around.
- 41:00And puts 41 up on it like, and, and this was the thing that I
- 41:05thought was weird at first was the the the game against San
- 41:11Jose State, they won 42 to 26. So they they not.
- 41:16Necessarily doubled, but they they beat them by 16 like.
- 41:20Every time I go oh, what, how do you allow San Jose State to
- 41:23score 26 points? Well, they they.
- 41:25Had a lot of their their freshmen and their newbies in
- 41:28there like they're they're not going to exactly be playing
- 41:30super hard and San Jose State's just playing for pride at that
- 41:33point. Now Fresno State, they
- 41:35completely shut out 39 to nothing.
- 41:37It's like, oh, OK. This is first.
- 41:39Week it was, the first week in San Jose State.
- 41:41No big deal, nothing crazy. But then against Louisiana, 30
- 41:45points. You're going to let the raging
- 41:48Cajuns drop 30 points on you. Now you end up winning by 19 and
- 41:54and but, but. Then the same thing.
- 41:56Rutgers drops 35. You only win by. 7.
- 41:59Oregon drops 41 on him. Now you host Washington.
- 42:05You know, Washington's not exactly a high scoring,
- 42:07high-powered offense. But.
- 42:09They're probably going to be able to drop some.
- 42:11Points on you and then you go to Penn State and it's a light out
- 42:15game and then you have to go to Wisconsin at the towards the end
- 42:20of October. It's probably going to be cold
- 42:23and Wisconsin just upset Penn State and I mean they look
- 42:28significantly better than what they did.
- 42:34Then you have two. More.
- 42:38If Penn State and Wisconsin isn't enough, you have two.
- 42:42More. Big heavy hitters in the Big 10
- 42:44that you have to deal with you have to host Ohio State which it
- 42:49if your defense is still that bad on Halloween, it is going to
- 42:53be a scary time for the Trojans 'cause this this might be the
- 42:59the Jeremiah Smith coming out and I'm going to drop you know 8
- 43:02touchdowns on any type of game from him and Julian saying like
- 43:06if your defense is that bad against Ohio State Trojan fans
- 43:13if you were. Religious pray.
- 43:16If you're not pray, and I don't care to what deity, I don't care
- 43:21to what religion, pray Trojans and then you have to go to
- 43:27Indiana. In the middle of November on the
- 43:2914th, like that's two, that's potentially 2 more losses.
- 43:36And and this is with the the notion that they win hosting
- 43:41Washington. They went against Penn State on
- 43:43the road, they went against Wisconsin and Camp Randall on
- 43:45the road. Like that's that's what the
- 43:48notion of them winning. And then you host Ohio State.
- 43:52Maybe you get. A win there and you knock them
- 43:54out of the play offs 80. And then you have to go to
- 43:58Indiana in the cold. I don't think so.
- 44:02I I don't. Barring.
- 44:04Indiana just having a huge self implosion?
- 44:07I don't think so. But then you host Maryland, so
- 44:11you know, back on track with But then you technically go just
- 44:15across the road against UCLA. They dropped 50 on Maryland
- 44:19because they run the ball. Like what are they going to do
- 44:22to you as their rival like the this yeah, I I'm not a huge USC
- 44:30fan of start with anyway I've. I've never really cared for.
- 44:33You know, Los Angeles as a whole.
- 44:36Not anything against the university, I just don't care
- 44:38for the city of Los Angeles. But like this was a.
- 44:42Bad game for USA and it it exposed a lot for them.
- 44:49But it it's just going to expose even more if if they do poorly
- 44:53over this next little bit of stretch, because it's just going
- 44:55to continue to show, you know, the the propaganda, the hype of
- 45:00like, oh, they're back like. They they recruit.
- 45:02So, well, they do this. They do that and then it it
- 45:05amounts to absolutely nothing at the end of the season.
- 45:10And now will that necessarily mean that Lincoln Riley should
- 45:15be fired? I mean, you can.
- 45:19You've got to pay him a. Crap.
- 45:20Ton of money and then the other question, who are you going to
- 45:24get that replaces that you feel is going to take you that next
- 45:28step? Like and do you really think
- 45:31you're going to be able to pull? Yeah, a head coach that is in
- 45:37that's in a significant enough program to want to have to come
- 45:41deal with that. Do you think you can do that?
- 45:47I don't know if you can not, especially if you're going to
- 45:48have to buy a leaky contract and pay this coach top dollar.
- 45:53I don't know if you're going to be able to do it.
- 45:54You could try. I don't know if you're going to
- 45:56be able to do it. Let's look ahead those we got to
- 45:59come to the end of the show. Some of the games coming up next
- 46:03week. That are still going to be
- 46:05pretty good because now we're starting to enter into more of
- 46:08the more of the interconference play.
- 46:11There's still going to be a couple games here and there that
- 46:13aren't technically conference games or teams beating up on
- 46:16cupcakes, but for the most part, there's a lot.
- 46:19Of a lot of interconference play coming on one of the big ones #7
- 46:27Alabama goes to #16 Mississippi State to take on Kamario Taylor.
- 46:33Now if this doesn't give you an idea as to at least how much
- 46:37Vegas is trusting Mississippi State, they only have Bama
- 46:43favored by by 6. So basically a touchdown.
- 46:47Now, the ESPN predictor is giving Alabama 74% chance of
- 46:51winning against Mississippi State.
- 46:54But I mean as. Far as quarterbacks go, it's
- 46:59crazy how good Kamario Taylor. Has been for Mississippi State.
- 47:06Almost 1200 yards passing, 14 touchdowns, 2 picks.
- 47:10Now Keylon Russell, he's kind of coming into his own.
- 47:14You know, it's kind of weird because everybody's talking
- 47:17about all of this. This Alabama offense is.
- 47:20Scary. I don't consider this offense
- 47:24scary now, part of this. Truthfully and objectively,
- 47:28might be because I am a hater. Against.
- 47:31Alabama, but he's he's got a a. Little over 1100 yards.
- 47:41He's got 8 touchdowns, he's got 2 picks.
- 47:44They haven't played anybody like the the best team that they
- 47:48played was Kentucky, like you. You beat Eastern Carolina, who
- 47:56at one point was chanting in your stadium pretty loudly, like
- 48:01loud enough you could hear it on TV.
- 48:03Kentucky had you dead to rights in the.
- 48:05First half, now second-half, you absolutely turned it on and you,
- 48:08you crushed. I can't, can't take anything
- 48:11away from that. Can't deny that Florida State
- 48:13had you dead to rights until like a three hour weather delay.
- 48:17Basically. You could rest back up, re
- 48:20evaluate things like film, etcetera.
- 48:22Adjust and then you came back and absolutely stomped but you
- 48:26still only won by 14. Right.
- 48:29Yeah, and then you beat up on South Carolina, who Shane
- 48:34Beamer's already got issues anyway.
- 48:35They had kind of an upset, blown loss to Mississippi.
- 48:38State kind of like they do every year as far as blowing it goes,
- 48:41unfortunately. So if Jackson, you're watching
- 48:44this, I'm sorry. But.
- 48:46But it does seem that they'll like South Carolina will go
- 48:49somewhere like they did against 6A and and they will ball out.
- 48:51They'll be up like. 34 to 3. And they'll somehow end up
- 48:55losing the game. It's like, how do you how like,
- 48:58how do you how do you screw this up?
- 48:59I don't understand how so that that's one that you know, I'll
- 49:04I'll definitely watch like it'll be one that I keep an eye on.
- 49:08This is definitely one of the better games in the early
- 49:11window, but man, I it it'll, it'll be a good game.
- 49:17I, I, I, I think that will end up being the case and I kind of
- 49:21hope for an. Upset, I really do.
- 49:23I really hope for an upset. One that I also think will be
- 49:27really good. But I it it is kind of one of
- 49:30those I don't know what to expect, mainly because it is
- 49:35this going to be one of those games where Florida kind of
- 49:39comes in a little too cocky and a little bit too chest puffed
- 49:45out and then Mizzou hits him in the mouth and then It's A
- 49:50Knockout drag out fight like with that.
- 49:54This is the only thing that kind of makes me worried with this
- 49:57match up of Florida going to Mizzou.
- 50:00Now the line has. Florida favored by 5 1/2.
- 50:03So. Little under a touchdown.
- 50:07But you know, Mizzou lost a Mizzou lost a close one to
- 50:10misses the same Mississippi State team that Alabama has to
- 50:13go face. So are they going to maybe come
- 50:15out a little bit more hungry and a little bit more pissed
- 50:18because, you know, they could have had the win, but they
- 50:20didn't. So we'll we'll see.
- 50:24I don't I think between both coaches.
- 50:26I think between, you know, drink wits and I think between some
- 50:29are all I, I hope that doesn't happen, but I would also be
- 50:34interested to see how this ultimately ends up panning out.
- 50:39And this one that I kind of mentioned a little bit earlier,
- 50:42Texas versus Texas A&M versus Arkansas, you know, is, is it a,
- 50:47is it kind of a bounce back game for Texas A&M?
- 50:49Like, hey, we're going to, we, we should, we are going to beat
- 50:52up at least on one team to get back, right, to get things back
- 50:55to working, get some momentum, get some positivity.
- 50:58You know, or is this going to be Arkansas's chance to like, hey,
- 51:00you're already down. We need to get as many wins as
- 51:03we can to, you know, show some progress, get some, get some
- 51:06morale, get some kind of happiness, and even get our own
- 51:08momentum going as a program and as a.
- 51:11Whole So this will be one that it's it's probably going to be
- 51:16forgotten about by the wayside by pretty much anybody who isn't
- 51:21Arkansas, Texas, A&M's fans, because I mean, you've got Miami
- 51:24at Clemson, Texas Tech, Colorado, Washington at USC.
- 51:29Like for me, Neeson, LSU is going to be going on at the same
- 51:32time. So it's like there's there's
- 51:34other options for me personally. But again, I, I do want to see
- 51:40what the outcome of the game ends up happening because I do
- 51:42think story wise, it will tell us a lot about how this how the
- 51:46rest of the well, how the rest of the season is going to
- 51:48ultimately go for both of these teams.
- 51:53Like I kind of mentioned, I think one of the games
- 51:55everybody's going to be watching at 7:30, Miami goes to Clemson,
- 51:59Miami's kind of in that same boat.
- 52:01And who have you really faced? Like who have you really beat up
- 52:04on that's? Of any merit, like you beat up
- 52:08Wake Forest, who upset Louisville, great.
- 52:11You beat up Stanford? Cool.
- 52:14Like. And I and I don't want this to
- 52:17come off as like. Oh.
- 52:18They're going to get crushed by Clemson because we don't know
- 52:21what we don't know which Clemson team we're going to get.
- 52:23Are we going to get the Clemson team that got absolutely crushed
- 52:26by LSU? Maybe, but I mean, that same,
- 52:29that same Clemson team was then able to turn around and claw
- 52:32victory away from North Carolina.
- 52:34Now, was that North Carolina just kind of maybe being a
- 52:37little too? Cocky in their own right and
- 52:39just, you know, fumbling it. Or is that Clemson actually
- 52:43fighting back and trying to have a little bit of program pride
- 52:46and show that there's still something?
- 52:49To be there now, I will say the line is not pretty.
- 52:52They have Miami by 16 1/2. I think Miami will will win it,
- 52:58but I, I do kind of wonder, does Miami potentially fall under
- 53:05this almost being a trap game and it and it's weird to say
- 53:08that with Clemson because you would think.
- 53:10Oh, a trap game? No, it's usually for like a
- 53:11really bad team. And you're right, the Clemson is
- 53:15really bad this year. Does Miami come in and kind of
- 53:19overlook them? Because if we know anything
- 53:20about Miami. At least four or five years like
- 53:24they've been positioned like win your game, you are one of the.
- 53:29Best teams in the. Country.
- 53:31And then they trip over themselves and they lay in flat
- 53:34on their face as they did with Cam Ward.
- 53:39They technically did with Carson Beck.
- 53:41Now they were ultimately able to get into the playoffs and then
- 53:43make a very deep playoff run. So I mean, it's, it's not like
- 53:47they weren't able to, but it just seems to happen that Miami
- 53:51trips up and it it holds millions of costing them.
- 53:54So is this the game where they do that?
- 53:56I don't know. I hope not, but I I think that
- 53:58potential. Is there another one that I
- 54:01think is one that I will probably watch because believe
- 54:07it or not, even though I am a fan of an SEC team, I like
- 54:11watching the Big 12. Like there is just some type of
- 54:14entertainment about the Big 12, the storylines, the teams and
- 54:19and I, I as much as I like defense, I kind of like seeing
- 54:23the, hey, let's drop 50 against each other and just see what
- 54:26happens kind of kind of games. This one I don't think is going
- 54:30to be one of those. I think this is going to be a
- 54:32drudging by Texas Tech against Colorado.
- 54:36I want to see how this ultimately pans out because does
- 54:41Colorado finally get rid of Dionne?
- 54:45Joy? I was just talking about you
- 54:48earlier. So I was like, oh, Joey might
- 54:50kick my ass if she hears this, you know?
- 54:56Is this the game that gets Dion? Fire like Colorado had a rough.
- 55:01Game against Baylor, and I mean rough.
- 55:03Bad enough that Julian Lewis got pulled and benched.
- 55:07The backup quarterback came in. Didn't do terribly bad, but this
- 55:13is a. We're sitting here now in what,
- 55:16year 4 of Dion at Colorado And I mean.
- 55:21I'll give him credit. You know, he took a very bad
- 55:23Colorado team that went like 1 and 11 turn around, took him a
- 55:29four and eight. Which isn't crazy, but it is an
- 55:32improvement. And then they go nine and four.
- 55:36It's like, OK, damn, he really built something.
- 55:38But then he loses his sons, he loses Travis Hunter and then
- 55:44they drop back down like they did last year.
- 55:45And I think they went 3:00 and 9:00 last year.
- 55:52You did Joy. You, you missed it.
- 55:53I don't even remember. It was it was something about
- 55:56LSU and talking about it, 'cause I'm like, I I want Sam to do
- 56:02great, but I also want him to stop running the damn ball with
- 56:05his legs and just sit in the pocket for a little bit and
- 56:08trust it. But now I want I want to see how
- 56:15does Colorado do and is and again, if anybody who watches
- 56:18the show or has watched me for a long time, you know, I.
- 56:21Hate the term? Good loss.
- 56:24I hate the term quality loss I. Hate both of those phrases
- 56:27because it's one of those in like a leadership aspect in a
- 56:34seeking the positive, seeking the good in a bad situation.
- 56:37You know, learning the learning lesson in a mistake, yes, you
- 56:41can turn almost anything into a positive if you try hard enough,
- 56:47but a loss is a loss. And I know they accept that.
- 56:51I know a lot of people ultimately accept that.
- 56:54And even in college football, as much as I I hate the terms, I
- 56:58understand them and I I even utilize them to at least the
- 57:02benefit of making a point of, well, if you have to take a pic
- 57:07of do you want to lose to a really, really bad team?
- 57:10Then it's more. Embarrassing.
- 57:12Or do you want to lose to a really, really good team?
- 57:14And at least you can say, well, I lost to a team that's really,
- 57:16really good because they beat a whole bunch of other people.
- 57:20It's like, OK, I guess if I want to get my ass kicked, I want to
- 57:22get my ass kicked by the best and not by the worst.
- 57:24Like, OK, like, yeah, I, I I can see that argument.
- 57:30So I mean if if Colorado at least keeps it close, then it's
- 57:34then it's a OK it's a close game.
- 57:38They lose to the team that won the Big 12 last year.
- 57:41Odds on favorites more likely win the Big 12 again this year,
- 57:44barring anything happened with Utah and BYU.
- 57:50Personally, the Bears have to smell Mike's involvement.
- 57:53I I grew up watching dub Bears. OK I'm I'm from Indianapolis.
- 57:58I live back in Indianapolis. Like regionally Bears game Bears
- 58:03lines of Packers if Colts weren't on Bears lines of.
- 58:05Packers usually were. Or, more likely, the Cowboys,
- 58:08because. They wanted to.
- 58:09Nationally televise those most of those games, but most of the
- 58:12regional games that they were showing on Fox, Packers, Lions,
- 58:16Bears. So I'm just, I'm just saying
- 58:19Bears, all the Vikings. I always forget about the
- 58:21Vikings. They were also on quite a bit,
- 58:24like most of the NFC North was usually on on Fox.
- 58:27But yeah, nonetheless, I want to see what Dionne does against
- 58:30Texas Tech. I don't think it'll be pretty.
- 58:33I don't necessarily think it'll be his last game at Colorado,
- 58:36but I do have to wonder how hot is the seat?
- 58:39Getting there in Boulder for Dion.
- 58:44What is I'm just saying joy is true.
- 58:46Like I watched a ton of Bears games, like I watched Brian
- 58:49Urlacher. I.
- 58:50Watched Lance Briggs, Peanut Tillman, Libby Smith when he was
- 58:54the head coach. And Kyle Orton, Jay Cutler, sexy
- 58:58Rexy Grossman that took him to the Super Bowl.
- 59:01I even remember watching that Super Bowl when they lost to
- 59:03Peyton and the Colts for the first time.
- 59:06To. Watch a lot of.
- 59:07Bears games. I like duh bears, duh bears.
- 59:11And if it does help and funny enough, joy if you watch the NFL
- 59:15show a little bit later with Devin, when the Colts lost the
- 59:19Super Bowl of the Saints, I was all about the Saints because I
- 59:22liked Drew Brees and I wanted the Colts to lose because
- 59:25everybody in my class was much D bags.
- 59:28They Colts fans used to be very, very spoiled.
- 59:30I don't know if Devin will admit.
- 59:31This or not? And I he, he might.
- 59:34Because he he's pretty realistic.
- 59:36They were so spoiled. Back in the day, like so damn
- 59:39spoiled. They would like.
- 59:42I remember when Peyton got hurt. And I know this is a bit of a.
- 59:45Tangent for a college football show so I promise I'll I'll get
- 59:47back to college football part. I remember when it when Peyton
- 59:54got hurt and I'm kind of sitting there and they're like, oh,
- 59:56Peyton's hurt. But we're we're still.
- 59:58Going to win like 11 games. I'm like, what are you talking
- 1:00:02about? It's like, I'm not even a cult
- 1:00:03saying, but I get acknowledged like Peyton is a phenomenal
- 1:00:06quarterback. Like you guys are going to be
- 1:00:08lucky to win 2. Games for the rest of the year.
- 1:00:13And sure enough, I was right. They won two games because
- 1:00:17Curtis Painter was awful. Carrie Collins.
- 1:00:21I believe they brought in awful Dan, or I think Dan Orlovsky was
- 1:00:26actually the saving grace for them at one point to where he
- 1:00:29actually got them a couple of wins, but it was still an ugly,
- 1:00:34ugly time in the meantime. But yeah, I was like, Colts fans
- 1:00:39were just such. Boiled D bags for so long.
- 1:00:43Devin wasn't. He really wasn't.
- 1:00:44He was. Great.
- 1:00:46And there were other really good Colts fans.
- 1:00:47So I can't, and I know I probably shouldn't say this,
- 1:00:50being here in Indy, being around.
- 1:00:53Colts fans and even I find myself.
- 1:00:55Now rooting for the Colts. And it sucks that I was able.
- 1:00:59To appreciate it when. When they were actually good,
- 1:01:05but yeah, they they used to be really, really bad.
- 1:01:11So, yeah, so that's so I. Did root for the Saints.
- 1:01:13I did root for Drew Brees at one point because I liked Drew
- 1:01:15Brees. I always wanted him to do great.
- 1:01:17But yeah, I'm just saying. But I liked the Bears, too.
- 1:01:21Because grew up watching them during childhood.
- 1:01:24But anyway, last game for the college football for week 5
- 1:01:28anyway. I said there's a lot of good.
- 1:01:32Pretty big time matchups, but these are some of the biggest
- 1:01:34ones. Washington travels to USC, which
- 1:01:39kind of sucks that Washington fell out of the rankings.
- 1:01:41Now part of that is because they did lose to Minnesota in a very
- 1:01:44close game at home, surprisingly enough.
- 1:01:47So Minnesota was able to win on the road.
- 1:01:51So so how does Washington bounce back post that?
- 1:01:55And then on the other hand, for USC, how do they bounce back
- 1:01:58from having lost against Oregon? You know, it's an old PAC 12
- 1:02:02rivalry now brought over to the Big 10.
- 1:02:05Jed Fish is a hell of a coach. And Washington, they're not an
- 1:02:10easy team to have to deal with. Now the line has USC favor by 9
- 1:02:141/2, which I think is kind of crazy and kind of a bit
- 1:02:18insulting to Washington because they they are a good team.
- 1:02:22I mean, they took Ohio State. Down to the wire last year now.
- 1:02:25Albeit that was in Husky Stadium, wasn't on the road.
- 1:02:29But the this isn't like a Washington team that's a bunch
- 1:02:32of pushovers. So I don't know why they have
- 1:02:34the the line. I guess that high of 9 1/2.
- 1:02:37And I'll be honest and until they prove to me otherwise, I
- 1:02:44don't trust USCI, don't trust US CS defence.
- 1:02:47Now offensively, do I think they can do it?
- 1:02:49Absolutely. I think.
- 1:02:50The more Jade Mayava plays, especially with all of his true
- 1:02:53freshman wide receivers, and the more chemistry they get.
- 1:02:57USC can have a very potent and very dangerous offense.
- 1:03:01They're still haunted by Lincoln Riley's inability to want to
- 1:03:05have defense. It's like that's the only thing
- 1:03:08Lincoln Riley brought with him was he's great at offense.
- 1:03:12He's terrible at defense, just like he was in Oklahoma and.
- 1:03:16Just like he was in the Big Wolf.
- 1:03:18But I I do want to leave with this before before I finish for
- 1:03:24any USC fans that are watching. Do you want to move on from
- 1:03:29Lincoln Riley because of somebody who.
- 1:03:32I don't have a dog in the fight. I don't have a dog in the fight.
- 1:03:34As far as if Lincoln Riley stays or if he goes, doesn't, doesn't
- 1:03:39hurt, doesn't. Benefit me in no way, shape or
- 1:03:41form. He just seems like a really good
- 1:03:45offensive coordinator that is a head coach.
- 1:03:49Like it that that's what he seems like to me.
- 1:03:52It doesn't seem like he cares about the defense.
- 1:03:55It's one of those like, I think if it was up to him, it would
- 1:03:59just be offense versus offense and you know.
- 1:04:02Who can score the most points at the end of the day like.
- 1:04:06And I'm I'm not even saying you have to have like a top 10
- 1:04:09defense, like if you guys could even get a middle of the pack
- 1:04:14defense. Like there's what, 134?
- 1:04:20Division One FBS programs, like can you guys get like 60 to 70
- 1:04:27ranked 70th ranked defense, like legitimately middle of the pack
- 1:04:33I think if you did that. We're we're, we're not having
- 1:04:37this. Discussion.
- 1:04:38I think it's more of a, OK, hey, like their defense is better,
- 1:04:42It's improved, still not great, but it's serviceable.
- 1:04:45Like the offense might have to do a little bit more to make up
- 1:04:47for it. But they can do some stuff.
- 1:04:49Here and there and it's it's not the other world.
- 1:04:51Like I just don't see it with USCI just don't.
- 1:04:54I feel like Washington could very easily go in there and and
- 1:04:58get the upset, especially because again, this is a old.
- 1:05:00PAC 12 rivalry, like brought over and it's not like a
- 1:05:04perennial rivalry, but it's still one of those.
- 1:05:08These teams used to play each other a lot.
- 1:05:11And you know, Washington even spoiled US CS potential chances
- 1:05:15a few times so. You know, it'll be an
- 1:05:17interesting thing to see, but nonetheless, though I appreciate

- 1:05:38Please, you know, like share, subscribe doesn't cost you
- 1:05:40anything. And here's kind of the thing.
- 1:05:43I the only thing I get out of it is a little bit of a little bit
- 1:05:47of publicity, a little bit added.
- 1:05:49To the numbers. But I don't get paid for it.
- 1:05:51I don't get paid for any of this.
- 1:05:53This is all. Free.
- 1:05:54This is just all because I like to talk sports.
- 1:05:56I like to talk sports with people.
- 1:05:57That's why I like to invite guests on the show and because I
- 1:06:00just don't like talking to myself.
- 1:06:02I feel like a psychopath. Crazy.
- 1:06:03Person half the time anyway. It just adds to it.
- 1:06:07But again, let me know good or bad, if there's anything you'd
- 1:06:10want to see, if there's anything you want me to fix.
- 1:06:13If you feel like I don't, you know, do a good breakdown on
- 1:06:15your team. Let me know if you feel like I
- 1:06:16do too to. Have a breakdown on your?
- 1:06:17Team, let me know if you want me to back the hell off, you could
- 1:06:21tell me to do that too. But appreciate everybody's love
- 1:06:26and support. Also, please check out all the
- 1:06:28great hosts here on Military Broadcast radio.
- 1:06:31Again, they're, they're wonderful.
- 1:06:33They help a ton of veterans. If you are a veteran yourself
- 1:06:35and you're like man. I, I don't know if I want to
- 1:06:38start a podcast, like is that something I want to do?
- 1:06:41Just do it just to say you did and if and if you want to.
- 1:06:44And if you feel like I don't know where to start, definitely
- 1:06:47check them out. You know military broadcast, you
- 1:06:49know NBR radio dot US is the website where you can just
- 1:06:52Google search military broadcast radio.
- 1:06:54There is a ton of great veterans you know.
- 1:06:57If you want my help. I will more happily help you if
- 1:06:59you're like. Please keep this.
- 1:07:00Ginger dude away from me, I can also do that too.

- 1:07:08will help build up your show. They'll help build up your
- 1:07:10confidence. They'll even beat guests on your
- 1:07:12show. If you're worried about I don't
- 1:07:14want to just talk in front of a microphone to myself like I want
- 1:07:16to talk to people. You can always have guests on
- 1:07:19and you can Share your story. You can tell anything that you
- 1:07:22want to. And it doesn't even have to be
- 1:07:23about sports. It doesn't even have to be about
- 1:07:25the military. You can have any type of
- 1:07:28conversation or topic you want. If you want to talk music, if
- 1:07:30you want to talk history, if you want to talk pop culture, if you
- 1:07:33want to talk about. The T Whether the T is in your
- 1:07:36life, T is in somebody else's life.
- 1:07:38Celebrity, not celebrity. Cars, music, sports.
- 1:07:43Anything you want, throw it out there.
- 1:07:45Just do it, you know, take a leap of faith.
- 1:07:47And I hope. As a veteran, if you do that,
- 1:07:49you go through MBR. And if you're not and you still
- 1:07:51just want to do podcast, just do it.
- 1:07:53Like don't. Don't ever let the haters.
- 1:07:57You know, people tell you, oh, you need to have a license for a
- 1:07:59microphone, We need to give license.
- 1:08:01You know, like I've, I've seen that so many times on TikTok
- 1:08:03whenever I get a hot take on something like we need to put
- 1:08:06monitoring on podcast equipment. OK, you do it then.
- 1:08:10No, I don't want to do it. OK, then shut the fluff up.
- 1:08:14Like, I don't, I don't know, like you're just hate and hate.
- 1:08:17You're going to have it. Don't ignore the haters.
- 1:08:20Ignore the haters. I I would say.
- 1:08:22That for anybody and everything, somebody, somewhere in the world
- 1:08:26is always going to root for your.
- 1:08:27Downfall in in. For lack of better terms, fluff
- 1:08:33them like in censored words. Fluff them.
- 1:08:37You're always going to have haters.
- 1:08:39That's fine, Hater. Notoriety is notoriety.
- 1:08:43Publicity is publicity. Now don't go too crazy to bad
- 1:08:46publicity, but publicity is publicity.
- 1:08:50So nonetheless, if you want to start a podcast, if you want to.
- 1:08:51Do any of that. If you want to support veterans
- 1:08:53who are doing podcasts, who are giving veterans voices,
- 1:08:56definitely check out NB Radio dot US.
- 1:08:58And then if you want great beer care products, we want to help
- 1:09:02out a Marine in South Carolina. Again, not me.
- 1:09:04If you want. To help out a Marine in South
- 1:09:06Carolina who makes great beer care products ships them all out
- 1:09:09here. Locally here in the US, check
- 1:09:11out Gunfighter Beer Co. He's got great stuff.
- 1:09:13Like I said, he's got his fall line up out already.
- 1:09:16The one that I, I have like 4 or five of his scents that are
- 1:09:19fantastic. His fall scent, the Harvest
- 1:09:24smells wonderful. It smells and some people may
- 1:09:26like this, some don't kind of smells like you took like the
- 1:09:29best smelling fall like Yankee Candle and you made it into a
- 1:09:33beard wax. It smells incredible, especially
- 1:09:36if you just like kind of having that nostalgic fall smell.
- 1:09:38Just throwing it out there. Some people like this and know.
- 1:09:41But again, appreciate everybody tuning in.
- 1:09:42Love y'all and like I said, I'll be streaming again here in a
- 1:09:45little bit with Devin to talk some NFL.
