Speaker 1: Communism is a loser and it always will be. The
• 0:05
Speaker 1: communist system is the opposite of the American system, and
• 0:09
Speaker 1: the communist system has never worked.
• 0:11
Speaker 2: Our warriors did not fight.
• 0:12
Speaker 1: Communism on battlefields across the world only to have that
• 0:16
Speaker 1: metas rear its ugly head right back here in America.
• 0:20
Speaker 2: We're not going to let it happen.
• 0:21
Speaker 3: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
• 0:25
  Speaker 2: Good Monday morning.
• 0:26
Speaker 4: It's so nice to have you with us on the
• 0:27
Speaker 4: forty seven Morning Update, and we've got one big story
• 0:31
Speaker 4: for you. Two very different perspectives on the two hundred
• 0:34
Speaker 4: and fiftieth anniversary in this country. One coming from President
• 0:38
Speaker 4: Donald Trump celebrating America, and the other coming from the
• 0:41
Speaker 4: democratic communist socialist Marxist Mundani talking all doom and gloom.
• 0:48
Speaker 4: So how could the messages be this different on the
• 0:51
Speaker 4: same day. We're going to break it down for you
• 0:54
Speaker 4: and exactly what the Democrats had to say. Now, before
• 0:57
Speaker 4: we get to that, I want to give you something
• 1:00
Speaker 4: right now for free to celebrate America's two hundred and
• 1:03
Speaker 4: fifty years of independence as well as to stand with
• 1:06
Speaker 4: our ally Israel. I want to give you the same

• 1:32
Speaker 4: it is a milestone, but it's also a time to
• 1:34
Speaker 4: reflect on the enduring relationship between the US and Israel.
• 1:39
Speaker 2: They are our greatest ally. President John F.
• 1:42
Speaker 4: Kennedy once said Israel was not created in order to disappear.
• 1:46
Speaker 4: Israel will endure and flourish, And those words they really
• 1:50
Speaker 4: capture the spirit of a young democracy determined to survive.
• 1:54
Speaker 4: You have two nations, thousands of miles apart, yet united
• 1:58
Speaker 4: by shared values of democracy, of faith, freedom, and resilience.
• 2:03
Speaker 4: So as we celebrate two hundred and fifty years of independence,
• 2:06
Speaker 4: the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, not only have
• 2:09
Speaker 4: they turn to God in prayer, but they ask for
• 2:12
Speaker 4: his wisdom that will guide elected officials and lead America
• 2:16
Speaker 4: and Israel to moral clarity and national unity. So show
• 2:20

• 2:36
Speaker 4: Morning Update and it starts right now.
• 2:39
  Speaker 3: Story number one.
• 2:40
Speaker 4: As America is celebrated it's two hundred and fiftieth birthday
• 2:44
Speaker 4: the country, we witnessed something that was really kind of shocking.
• 2:48
Speaker 4: Two completely different visions of the United States. And the
• 2:54
Speaker 4: contrast was also one that you couldn't see any sharper
• 2:57
Speaker 4: than the two different men delivering speeches. You had one
• 3:01
Speaker 4: that was President Donald Trump. He stood before one of
• 3:05
Speaker 4: the most iconic backdrops in America, first at Mount Rushmore
• 3:09
Speaker 4: and later at the National Mall.
• 3:11
Speaker 2: And what did he do? It was incredible.
• 3:13
Speaker 4: He told Americans that the nation's greatest days are still ahead.
• 3:17
Speaker 2: His message was clear.
• 3:19
Speaker 4: It's centered around optimism, American exceptionalism, military strength, innovation, faith,
• 3:26
Speaker 4: and the belief that the United States remains, yes, the
• 3:30
Speaker 4: greatest country on Earth. He described what he called it
• 3:34
Speaker 4: new quote Golden Age of America and repeatedly urge Americans
• 3:38
Speaker 4: to celebrate their country instead of apologizing for it. Now
• 3:42
Speaker 4: the President, well, what he said was all about celebrating
• 3:45
Speaker 4: the greatest country and it wasn't actually political. It was
• 3:50
Speaker 4: about having pride in your country.
• 3:52
Speaker 2: Take a list. To the President in his own words.
• 3:56
Speaker 1: For two hundred and fifty years, the United States of
• 3:59
Speaker 1: America has been the hope, the promise, the light, and
• 4:04
Speaker 1: the glory among all of the nations of the world.
• 4:07
Speaker 1: All over the world, they try and be like us.
• 4:09
Speaker 1: Nobody can be like us. And with God's help, we
• 4:12
  Speaker 1: will always be.
• 4:14
Speaker 2: This or even better. We're going to be better.
• 4:21
Speaker 1: Here on our national mall, we're celebrating freedom's triumph over tyranny,
• 4:27
Speaker 1: liberty's conquest over oppression, and the enduring victory of the
• 4:32
Speaker 1: American spirit. From the July fourth, seventeen seventy six to
• 4:38
  Speaker 1: July fourth.
• 4:39
Speaker 2: That's big dates, two big ones.
• 4:42
Speaker 1: And tonight our country is stronger, freer, richer, safer, and
• 4:46
Speaker 1: prouder than ever before.
• 4:50
Speaker 2: Now. The President wasn't done there.
• 4:52
Speaker 4: He celebrated America, but he also talked about the real
• 4:55
Speaker 4: warning of what America has to be careful of, what
• 4:59
Speaker 4: we we have to make sure America never becomes. And
• 5:03
Speaker 4: the President made it clear the communism he believes is
• 5:06
Speaker 4: the number one threat to the United States of America.
• 5:11
Speaker 2: As he said this.
• 5:12
Speaker 1: Across the generations Americans have fought, bled and died not
• 5:17
Speaker 1: just to secure those rights, but to expand them to
• 5:21
Speaker 1: citizens of every race, religion, color, and creed.
• 5:25
Speaker 2: Because we are one people. We are one family. You
• 5:29
Speaker 2: showed that tonight with one.
• 5:32
Speaker 1: Flag, And as our Declaration of Independence tells us, we
• 5:38
Speaker 1: are all made in the image of one almighty God.
• 5:50
Speaker 2: And a communist will never say that.
• 5:53
  Speaker 5: That's for sure.
• 5:55
  Speaker 6: Now.
• 5:55
Speaker 4: The President wasn't done there. He also talked about how
• 5:58
Speaker 4: he believes that America, who will never become a communist
• 6:02
Speaker 4: country as long as we understand exactly what makes us
• 6:05
  Speaker 4: so great.
• 6:07
Speaker 6: As they said last night at the beautiful Mount Rushmore,
• 6:10
Speaker 6: what a beautiful place where Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Theodore
• 6:15
Speaker 6: Roosevelt loomed over my shoulder as I.
• 6:17
Speaker 1: Spoke, America will never be a communist country.
• 6:22
  Speaker 2: Won't happen.
• 6:25
Speaker 1: Communism is a loser and it always will be. The
• 6:30
Speaker 1: communist system is the opposite of the American system, and
• 6:34
Speaker 1: the communist system has never worked. Our warriors did not
• 6:38
Speaker 1: fight communism on battlefields across the world only to have
• 6:42
Speaker 1: that menace rear its ugly head.
• 6:45
Speaker 2: Right back here in America. We're not going to let
• 6:47
  Speaker 2: it happen.
• 6:53
Speaker 1: We like to stop a threat like that immediately and
• 6:57
Speaker 1: before it begins. Just like a cancer, you got to
• 6:59
Speaker 1: cut it down, You got to cut.
• 7:00
  Speaker 6: It out fast.
• 7:02
Speaker 4: Now you may ask yourself, why did the President make
• 7:05
Speaker 4: sure he talked about this on America's two hundred and
• 7:07
Speaker 4: fiftieth anniversary celebration. Well, it's pretty simple because on the
• 7:12
Speaker 4: other side, the Democratic Party had their message to America
• 7:15
Speaker 4: and it was delivered by New York City Mayor Mandani,
• 7:19
Speaker 4: who used America's two hundred and fiftieth to address the focus.
• 7:23
Speaker 4: He says on all of America's shortcomings, criticizing immigration enforcement,
• 7:28
Speaker 4: wanting to obviously abolish ice and have open borders. Then
• 7:33
Speaker 4: he had at tax on what he described as oligarchs
• 7:36
Speaker 4: and systems of supremacy, and then argued that America must
• 7:40
Speaker 4: continue confronting its flaws rather than simply celebrating America and
• 7:47
Speaker 4: its achievements. Now, whether you agree with that man or not,
• 7:51
Speaker 4: it's pretty messed up on the day, on the anniversary
• 7:54
Speaker 4: of America or two fiftieth birthday, that this is what
• 7:58
Speaker 4: he had to say to the Amica worn people.
• 8:01
Speaker 5: Take a listen, American exceptionalism, American exceptionalism, the conventional wisdom
• 8:06
Speaker 5: tells us, makes our freedom a little more free. Is
• 8:09
Speaker 5: how we dug the Erie Canal and irrigated the west.
• 8:12
Speaker 5: Is why children in far away lands grow up dreaming
• 8:14
Speaker 5: of one day moving here. And yet the irony is
• 8:17
Speaker 5: that the story of America has so often been written
• 8:20
Speaker 5: by those who were told by others with power and
• 8:22
Speaker 5: influence and wealth that they were anything but exceptional. For
• 8:26
Speaker 5: generation after generation, we have been told that when the
• 8:29
Speaker 5: world has sent its people to our shores, it has
• 8:32
Speaker 5: not sent its best. It sent Puritans and Sikhs and
• 8:35
Speaker 5: Quakers and Muslims and Jewish people who were banished for
• 8:38
Speaker 5: praying the wrong way, worshiping the wrong gods, angering the
• 8:42
Speaker 5: wrong people. It sent peasants and serfs from slums and
• 8:45
Speaker 5: chettles who were treated as less because they hardly owned clothes,
• 8:48
Speaker 5: let alone land. It sent immigrants from whom power was
• 8:52
Speaker 5: something someone else had. We are told that America is
• 8:55
Speaker 5: exceptional because we are richer, stronger, more powerful than everyone else.
• 9:02
Speaker 5: The truth, my friends, is that America is exceptional because
• 9:05
Speaker 5: here nothing is fixed into place. The frontier may be closed,
• 9:10
Speaker 5: we may have walked on the moon, but the work
• 9:12
Speaker 5: of fulfilling the values first enshrined in the Declaration of Independence,
• 9:16
Speaker 5: that work endures, and it belongs to us all. It
• 9:20
Speaker 5: belongs to to our newest Americans, those standing here with
• 9:23
Speaker 5: me today, all of whom were recently naturalized. Nearly a
• 9:27
Speaker 5: decade ago, I too felt what you feel, the joy
• 9:30
Speaker 5: of no longer being just a New Yorker, but an
• 9:33
Speaker 5: American too. You each hold a special power, the power
• 9:37
Speaker 5: to determine what America means. The powerful have always known
• 9:41
Speaker 5: their answer. America, in their view, is an arena of supremacy,
• 9:45
Speaker 5: where only a select few or allowed freedom, where not
• 9:48
Speaker 5: all are created equal. America, if you ask them, becomes
• 9:52
Speaker 5: less the more people it welcomes. America, they will tell you,
• 9:56
Speaker 5: belongs only to those with the right accent or the
• 9:58
Speaker 5: right trade of skin. The rest of us, they insist,
• 10:01
Speaker 5: should be grateful for merely being allowed to visit. How
• 10:04
Speaker 5: small they are, how weak, how unoriginal. At every moment
• 10:09
Speaker 5: in our past, those who led through exclusion and isolation
• 10:13
Speaker 5: have tried to win power and enrich themselves by turning
• 10:16
Speaker 5: us against one another. Division is the oldest trick in
• 10:20
Speaker 5: politics and the cheapest, But time and again, including two
• 10:24
Speaker 5: hundred and fifty years ago, those forces of division have
• 10:28
Speaker 5: been vanquished by the forces of progress.
• 10:32
Speaker 4: It truly is amazing to watch the Democratic leader sit
• 10:36
Speaker 4: there on America's two hundred and fiftieth birthday and focus
• 10:40
Speaker 4: on every reason why he wants you to hate the
• 10:43
Speaker 4: United States of America, Why he wants you to feel
• 10:46
Speaker 4: like America must be undone, that America is so fawed
• 10:50
Speaker 4: it's impossible to celebrate any of its achievements or accomplishments.
• 10:55
  Speaker 2: Now.
• 10:55
Speaker 4: President Trump's speech was very clear there was one design
• 10:59
Speaker 4: to inspire all of us to have confidence, and his
• 11:02
Speaker 4: central argument was that America is actually worse celebrating because
• 11:06
Speaker 4: of what generations after generations of Americans have built together,
• 11:12
Speaker 4: and also because the country still has limitless potential. He
• 11:16
Speaker 4: pointed to the military the specific achievements that they've accomplished
• 11:21
Speaker 4: fighting literal wars around the world and winning them to
• 11:25
  Speaker 4: save humanity.
• 11:26
  Speaker 2: He talked about.
• 11:27
Speaker 4: How incredible America's economic opportunity is for all Americans and
• 11:32
Speaker 4: American history, and what we've just done over the last
• 11:36
Speaker 4: two hundred and fifty years is the reason for great
• 11:39
Speaker 4: optimism and celebration. But then you look at Mindani. He
• 11:44
Speaker 4: took almost the opposite approach. Rather than making the anniversary
• 11:48
Speaker 4: primarily about national celebration, he framed it as an opportunity
• 11:53
Speaker 4: to attack and to talk about any injustice, any issue
• 11:59
Speaker 4: that he disagreed with America aunt or the president. Immigration
• 12:04
Speaker 4: was a great example. Another one was how he was
• 12:07
Speaker 4: attacking anyone that had become wealthy and worked hard. And
• 12:11
Speaker 4: then of course he says, in America has much work
• 12:13
Speaker 4: that needs to be done, and really we shouldn't just
• 12:16
Speaker 4: be sitting here and celebrating. And that's why this has
• 12:19
Speaker 4: truly become an incredible political moment. I couldn't have guessed
• 12:23
Speaker 4: this ten years ago or even five years ago, that
• 12:26
Speaker 4: on America's two hundred and fiftieth birthday, that the Democratic
• 12:30
Speaker 4: Party would trash a country while America was looking for
• 12:34
  Speaker 4: someone to defend.
• 12:36
Speaker 2: It, to celebrate it.
• 12:38
Speaker 4: It's two very completely different narratives about America itself. One
• 12:42
Speaker 4: that says America is fundamentally an extraordinary nation that deserves gratitude, pride,
• 12:48
Speaker 4: and celebration while also continuing to improve, and the other
• 12:52
Speaker 4: says America's founding ideals are well flawed and that they
• 12:58
Speaker 4: should basically be all undone, and that you shouldn't be
• 13:02
Speaker 4: proud on this Independence Day, and even Vice President J. D.
• 13:06
Speaker 4: Vance appeared to reference that divide when he said Americans
• 13:09
Speaker 4: shouldn't allow small but loud voices to define the country
• 13:15
Speaker 4: only by its flaws, arguing instead that the nation should
• 13:18
Speaker 4: face the future with confidence and pride. It's also worth
• 13:22
Speaker 4: noting that critics and supporters interpret these speeches very differently.
• 13:26
Speaker 4: Of course, supporters of Mindani and there's a growing number
• 13:30
Speaker 4: of Americans that like him, They actually argue he was
• 13:33
Speaker 4: expressing a quote patriotic belief that America honors its founding
• 13:38
Speaker 4: principles by striving to improve and include more people aka
• 13:43
Speaker 4: open borders. But when you look at these two speeches,
• 13:47
Speaker 4: it was pretty clear who the real leader was. President
• 13:50
Speaker 4: Trump asked Americans to celebrate what has been accomplished and
• 13:54
Speaker 4: believes that the future is.
• 13:55
Speaker 2: Brighter than ever before.
• 13:57
Speaker 4: And the other one they challenged Americans to focus on
• 14:01
Speaker 4: all the bad things that they want you to say
• 14:04
Speaker 4: America therefore needs to be destroyed because of them. In
• 14:08
Speaker 4: that contrast, well, that may end up being remembered as
• 14:12
Speaker 4: one of the defining political moments of not only America's
• 14:15
Speaker 4: turning in for theieth birthday, but also heading into the
• 14:18
Speaker 4: midterm and the next presidential election.
