- 0:40Speaker 3: You may build me up.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Welcome, welcome, welcome!
- 0:47Speaker 2: You're listening to the Sports Shock Show. I'm the Sports
- 0:49Speaker 2: Shock Wayne Gandy. Good morning to you out there in
- 0:53Speaker 2: listening land. I'm going back to Thursday right now. Rise
- 0:57Speaker 2: up with the Falcons and all you Falcons fans. Hit
- 1:00Speaker 2: your head against the sink this morning. All you fake Falcons.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Never riding with your team, bad producer.
- 1:10Speaker 3: I ride.
- 1:10Speaker 2: All of you don't ride with it. Where's all the
- 1:13Speaker 2: excitement when the win happens? All you do is sit
- 1:16Speaker 2: around and wait and get bashed on. You love to
- 1:20Speaker 2: hit me when it's time to ride and shoot them.
- 1:23Speaker 2: But when they go out and do something, you don't
- 1:26Speaker 2: say a thing. You don't never celebrate them.
- 1:28Speaker 3: We do.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Shut up, man. It's my monologue. We ain't run DMC-ing.
- 1:38Speaker 2: You hating right now. This ain't no run DMC. You
- 1:41Speaker 2: hating on the fans. I ain't hating on you. I'm
- 1:43Speaker 2: hating on your fandom, your fandomonium, how it goes in
- 1:47Speaker 2: and out. How a week ago, all you did was
- 1:51Speaker 2: sit there with the energy as though the whole world collapsed.
- 1:55Speaker 2: And I sat here and told you there's a true
- 1:57Speaker 2: reason why you're 0-2. Oh, man, we just suck. We
- 2:02Speaker 2: suck so bad. We are terrible, man. Everybody need to
- 2:07Speaker 2: be fired. I got two witnesses.
- 2:11Speaker 4: I love that impersonation. We do your bad impression. We
- 2:14Speaker 4: do your bad impression. We record and we suck. You
- 2:18Speaker 4: put the physical with it. I love your bad impersonation.
- 2:22Speaker 3: We suck. That is brilliant.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I said it on the same, a week ago.
- 2:27Speaker 3: One week ago, seven days.
- 2:29Speaker 2: And I said, why are y'all bashing a team? Who's
- 2:32Speaker 2: playing the third quarterback. These many quarterbacks. If you're playing
- 2:36Speaker 2: the third quarterback and you think you're going to go
- 2:39Speaker 2: bet some money and win, you are the one who
- 2:42Speaker 2: is crazy. It ain't the team. I gave this speech.
- 2:50Speaker 2: You had to wait until Michael Penix or at least
- 2:52Speaker 2: Tua came back to see.
- 2:54Speaker 4: And then when we said at least Tua, everybody laughed.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Like that.
- 2:59Speaker 3: They chuckled.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Why sports shock? Well, why sports shock? Because sports shock
- 3:05Speaker 2: has been in the huddle. I know you watch it,
- 3:10Speaker 2: so you think you know everything. I'm telling you how
- 3:12Speaker 2: the huddle go. There's a part of sports that's about inspiration.
- 3:17Speaker 2: It has nothing to do with running a 4-2 and
- 3:22Speaker 2: a 50-inch vertical. It has to, when you look in
- 3:26Speaker 2: the huddle, you know who can and can't. It's not
- 3:32Speaker 2: a knock on them. Cooper rushes over his head. It's
- 3:37Speaker 2: over his head right now. It was just over his head.
- 3:42Speaker 2: And then there's the quarterback. There's the running back that
- 3:45Speaker 2: you block for. When Bijan gets behind you, there's a sensation.
- 3:55Speaker 2: When the greats, when I block, when Bettis is back
- 3:57Speaker 2: there and he tells you out of the locker room,
- 4:00Speaker 2: I'm ready to go. I'm gassed up today. Just get
- 4:05Speaker 2: me to the bad producer. What he's telling you is
- 4:10Speaker 2: block everybody except the bad producer. I'll take care of him.
- 4:17Speaker 3: And you're going to do just that.
- 4:18Speaker 2: You get chills as a grown man. You're sitting there like, yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 2: it's going to be that kind of day. Yeah, I'm
- 4:23Speaker 2: gassed up today. Well, then let's go then.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Tank on F.
- 4:27Speaker 2: When Cooper Rush comes in the huddle, he doesn't do that.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It's about faith. It's about belief. You see it in
- 4:33Speaker 2: different players. That's why when they can go somewhere, you're like, well,
- 4:37Speaker 2: how can those guys? It's not an individual. I was
- 4:41Speaker 2: watching something with Trey Young, the great Hawk player that's
- 4:44Speaker 2: now with the Wizards, and he was talking about he
- 4:46Speaker 2: never had no trait. You didn't inspire belief. you could
- 4:54Speaker 2: tell on the court the other four people out there
- 4:57Speaker 2: don't see you.
- 5:01Speaker 3: There's a difference.
- 5:01Speaker 2: And that kind of, to raise, to bring that sensation,
- 5:05Speaker 2: that goose bump.
- 5:06Speaker 4: There's a difference between gassed up and can you check
- 5:09Speaker 4: my fuel point.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Completely.
- 5:11Speaker 9: Okay.
- 5:11Speaker 2: So I'm just here for you Falcon fans that needed
- 5:14Speaker 2: to last Sunday night to me a million times. Text.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Do the bad producer again, Sports Chat.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Oh, man, they're terrible, man. They're terrible.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I can't believe they... Do it one more time. Do
- 5:29Speaker 2: it one more time.
- 5:30Speaker 3: I'm going to stop asking you. Do it one more
- 5:32Speaker 3: time with the movement. Man, they're terrible, man. They're terrible.
- 5:36Speaker 2: They're terrible.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 5:41Speaker 2: And they sit, and people, my boy Rod, he sits,
- 5:44Speaker 2: he texts. I try to tell him, well... Here's what's
- 5:47Speaker 2: going on. And I give this information out to all
- 5:49Speaker 2: of you out there that feels like you're suffering or
- 5:53Speaker 2: your team is not going in the right direction. And
- 5:55Speaker 2: I'm trying to give you the thing that you're skipping over.
- 5:58Speaker 2: And everybody, because of the marketing of the QB, jumps
- 6:03Speaker 2: to the same page. Well, the quarterback. Got to have
- 6:08Speaker 2: a franchise quarterback. Well, tell that to the Seahawks.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Oh, oh. Shots fired.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Sam Donald wasn't no, tell that to the Seahawks. He
- 6:21Speaker 2: wasn't no franchise quarterback. They won two games with Drew Locke.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Sam Donald came back, they lost. I'm telling you what's
- 6:30Speaker 2: wrong with your team. But, you know, the Falcons, I
- 6:35Speaker 2: had to give them some love because now everybody see. Oh,
- 6:39Speaker 2: so we can.
- 6:40Speaker 10: Yes.
- 6:40Speaker 11: Yes.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I'm not telling you it's a Super Bowl team. I
- 6:47Speaker 2: don't know that you have enough pass rush with the
- 6:51Speaker 2: problems that you had. The guys that you got hurt. Yeah.
- 6:55Speaker 2: And the other guy got arrested for going berserk.
- 6:58Speaker 4: But I ain't judging because we done all been arrested
- 7:01Speaker 4: for going berserk.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Am I right? Am I right?
- 7:04Speaker 2: We done flipped.
- 7:05Speaker 3: We just flashed it wherever you wasn't intending to.
- 7:08Speaker 4: But things got overwhelming and you just, well, you know,
- 7:11Speaker 4: you was flipping stuff.
- 7:12Speaker 2: No, he tried to hit somebody with his car.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Define try. I'm saying define try. Was you just swerving
- 7:21Speaker 4: in that direction, kind of scare.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Him a little bit? Weren't the police trying to block
- 7:24Speaker 2: him off? And that's the only thing. I know they
- 7:28Speaker 2: picked up the young man. I think he went to Georgia.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Been around. His mom and sister passed away or something here.
- 7:35Speaker 2: What's the new guy they got?
- 7:37Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 7:38Speaker 2: The brothers, the Terrell. No, this is a defensive name.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I'm talking about pass rush. I'm not sure you're speaking of.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Xavier or something. I think he was with the Eagles.
- 7:52Speaker 2: But we'll find his name. But they brought him in
- 7:54Speaker 2: for some pass rush. But I don't know if they
- 7:56Speaker 2: got the pass rush, which kind of nullifies it. They
- 8:01Speaker 2: have a good secondary personnel-wise, but I don't know. to,
- 8:05Speaker 2: you know, but they have enough to win the NFC South. If, Michael,
- 8:11Speaker 2: if they can run the ball. But to the bad
- 8:16Speaker 2: producer and all you fake fans that just sit there
- 8:20Speaker 2: and get in your emotions and don't want to see
- 8:23Speaker 2: what is really wrong. Oh man, get rid of Matt Ryan.
- 8:26Speaker 2: What did Matt Ryan do?
- 8:28Speaker 3: He don't even play. Zach Harrison?
- 8:30Speaker 2: What did Matt Ryan do? dude that he need to
- 8:35Speaker 2: get fired. He didn't sit here and say, yeah, what
- 8:41Speaker 2: I'm going to do is I'm going to start my
- 8:45Speaker 2: president career with Cooper Rush.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Excuse me. He said he never said fireman. I never
- 8:52Speaker 4: said fireman.
- 8:53Speaker 3: I just... Just question decisions.
- 8:55Speaker 13: You know, it would take a long time to go
- 8:57Speaker 13: through all the audio.
- 8:59Speaker 2: All the stuff.
- 8:59Speaker 3: I was going, I was, but I never said that.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 9:03Speaker 14: I only mentioned it.
- 9:05Speaker 2: But I just need to get that because Big Kenny,
- 9:08Speaker 2: as you probably get sometimes, last week, it was a
- 9:14Speaker 2: complete indictment. The Falcons couldn't have got a fair jury
- 9:21Speaker 2: in any state. based on how the fans acted. And
- 9:25Speaker 2: no one was here. Even the bad producer who sits
- 9:28Speaker 2: here two feet from me can't really rationalize. There was
- 9:33Speaker 2: a reason. Now we're going to talk about two or
- 9:37Speaker 2: three teams. We can't figure out why they own three.
- 9:41Speaker 2: The Chargers. I can't figure out why the Texans are 0-3.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Even the Bucs, I don't know why they're 0-3. They
- 9:50Speaker 2: should have won at least one of these three games.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I can't.
- 9:54Speaker 2: We're going to talk about it, but those three teams
- 9:57Speaker 2: have their man, behind quarterback they have their defenses intact
- 10:04Speaker 2: and they're 0-3 but to the Falcon fans do you
- 10:09Speaker 2: have a Super Bowl team not that I see do
- 10:13Speaker 2: you have enough on your team to win the division
- 10:18Speaker 2: yes If you can keep Michael Penix. It takes eight wins.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Eight wins to win the division. I'm saying whatever it
- 10:27Speaker 2: takes to win it, you have enough people for that.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Tough division.
- 10:33Speaker 2: No.
- 10:33Speaker 3: No, it's not true. Not that tough. Not that tough.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Not super tough.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Probably the weakest division in the league this year. A
- 10:43Speaker 2: little bit.
- 10:44Speaker 6: A little bit.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:47Speaker 14: If 8'9 can win the division, it's not him. Jervon Dexter, senior,
- 10:51Speaker 14: that was via trade from the Bears.
- 10:54Speaker 2: No, that's not him either. The tackle.
- 10:56Speaker 10: No.
- 10:57Speaker 4: You get no bingo squares. No bingo squares. Everybody keeps
- 11:02Speaker 4: missing out on this. Who was the guy trading?
- 11:05Speaker 3: Zach Pickens. Zach Pickens.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Let me look real quick since y'all still stuck on that.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I'm just looking at the recent defensive linemen. That have
- 11:16Speaker 2: been signed. Where is his name? The Darius Smith.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Okay.
- 11:25Speaker 2: The Darius.
- 11:26Speaker 3: No one was close.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Isn't that the guy from? Oh, yeah.
- 11:30Speaker 13: He was on the Eagles. I think the Packers the
- 11:34Speaker 13: year before.
- 11:35Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Yeah, he's been around the league, and he had a
- 11:38Speaker 2: step away. Had some problems. mother-father kind of deaths in
- 11:45Speaker 2: the last, and he was thinking about just not playing,
- 11:48Speaker 2: and he had decided he would come back and play,
- 11:51Speaker 2: and he said it's been a great experience to have
- 11:54Speaker 2: something to feed into, almost like a distraction. I'm going
- 11:58Speaker 2: to do what I do best to almost forget my grief,
- 12:02Speaker 2: in a sense. But he But a lot of when
- 12:05Speaker 2: I said pass rush is because of the one kid
- 12:08Speaker 2: is out for eight, nine weeks because.
- 12:10Speaker 14: Of the suspension. Jalen Walker is out. And the other
- 12:13Speaker 14: kid got hurt. Walker hurt and Pierce is on the suspension.
- 12:17Speaker 2: But we have a big show for you. Who was
- 12:20Speaker 2: your childhood crush? I'm going to get the guys doing
- 12:24Speaker 2: the break piece of paper so they can write that down.
- 12:26Speaker 2: And I'm talking about one through like 16. Not when
- 12:31Speaker 2: you got to college. I'm talking about when you were,
- 12:33Speaker 2: you know, elementary, junior high, that time when you had
- 12:37Speaker 2: a celebrity crush. That and much more on the Sports
- 12:41Speaker 2: Chalk Show when we get back.
- 12:56Speaker 6: Don't go away.
- 12:57Speaker 2: More of the Sports Jock Show with Wayne Gamby.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Is coming up next.
- 13:02Speaker 2: What are we going to do when we get back?
- 13:05Speaker 16: Returning military vets. They've served our country at home and abroad.
- 13:09Speaker 16: They've slept in tanks, foxholes, and even out in the weather.
- 13:13Speaker 2: They've had our backs.
- 13:15Speaker 3: We have theirs.
- 13:16Speaker 2: The Sports Jock Man of Honor, Mr.
- 13:17Speaker 16: Scott Holliday, CEO of Mattress Heroes USA, is giving back
- 13:22Speaker 16: to the vets by giving away a free mattress to
- 13:24Speaker 16: returning vets every single week on the Sports Jock Show.
- 13:28Speaker 2: You had our backs. Now we have yours.
- 13:30Speaker 16: To register your returning vet, email heroes at thesportsjock.com or
- 13:35Speaker 16: visit mattressheroesusa.com and click on the Sports Jock banner. Then

- 13:47Speaker 16: us why they should be the Mattress Heroes USA Vet

- 14:02Speaker 17: Talking about guns with others might not always feel comfortable,
- 14:05Speaker 17: but it could save a life. Here's a way to
- 14:07Speaker 17: start a conversation. Your family is going over to your
- 14:10Speaker 17: neighbor's home for dinner for the first time. How would
- 14:12Speaker 17: you ask if there are any unlocked guns in the home?
- 14:15Speaker 18: Hey.
- 14:15Speaker 15: Hey, we're so excited for tonight. Before we come over, though,
- 14:18Speaker 15: may I ask if there are any unlocked guns in
- 14:21Speaker 15: your home?
- 14:21Speaker 19: Our guns are stored securely, locked in a safe that
- 14:24Speaker 19: the kids can't access.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 14:27Speaker 17: Learn how to have the conversation at agree2agree. org. Brought to
- 14:30Speaker 17: you by the Ad Council.
- 14:32Speaker 18: There's danger out there. It lurks on highways and quiet
- 14:35Speaker 18: neighborhood streets. It's more likely to kill you than a
- 14:38Speaker 18: shark and more terrifying than the biggest snake. Distracted driving
- 14:42Speaker 18: claims lives every day. Every notification, swipe, social post, video,
- 14:47Speaker 18: or selfie while driving risks your life. So while you
- 14:50Speaker 18: might think public speaking or the zombie apocalypse is scary,
- 14:54Speaker 18: what's really terrifying and even deadly is distracted driving. Eyes forward.
- 14:59Speaker 18: Don't drive distracted. Brought to you by NHTSA and the
- 15:01Speaker 18: Ad Council.
- 15:04Speaker 12: And now, back to the sports jar, Wayne Ganty. The
- 15:10Speaker 12: Jock of the Day is sponsored by MattressHeroesUSA.com. The sleep
- 15:13Speaker 12: you deserve at a price you can afford.
- 15:17Speaker 20: Now, it's time to present the Jock of the Day.
- 15:20Speaker 2: On the Sports Jock Show. He's taken it to a
- 15:22Speaker 2: completely different level this year. Where we highlight an athlete
- 15:25Speaker 2: that has taken their game to the next level. Yeah.
- 15:39Speaker 6: We got him wrapped up like a mummy.
- 15:43Speaker 2: That presidential looking sonny.
- 15:45Speaker 21: Feel like I'm at the same money.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Sports Talk Show. I'm the Sports
- 15:58Speaker 2: Talk Wayne Gandy. Good morning to you out there in
- 16:01Speaker 2: listening land. Glad to be here with you. Monday night
- 16:05Speaker 2: football tonight. A game that the schedule makers really was
- 16:09Speaker 2: looking forward to when you talk about the Eagles versus
- 16:13Speaker 2: the Bears tonight on Monday night. But no Caleb Williams.
- 16:20Speaker 2: To be in this at quarterback, he's week to week.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Some reports saying even maybe up to four weeks with that.
- 16:28Speaker 2: I think they said it was a hamstring that he
- 16:31Speaker 2: pulled on that move he was making, which I will,
- 16:36Speaker 2: even when he gets back, how will that limit him?
- 16:39Speaker 2: Because the one thing, one facet he's kind of shown
- 16:42Speaker 2: you since his rookie year is the ability, Patrick Mahomes'
- 16:48Speaker 2: ability kind of playoff schedule, make things up, moving around,
- 16:54Speaker 2: good mobility. So how will that hamstring affect his ability
- 16:59Speaker 2: even when he gets back? How gingerly will he handle that?
- 17:03Speaker 2: But the Eagles headed to Chicago. The 2-0 Eagles, the
- 17:08Speaker 2: 1-1 Bears. I did see last week people was trying
- 17:11Speaker 2: to give Dan Orlowski some issue because he was, you know,
- 17:16Speaker 2: not so high on Jalen Hurts. as he was on
- 17:21Speaker 2: Justin Herbert. But if you know football, you would have
- 17:24Speaker 2: maybe got it. And I think sometimes, you know, as analysts, people,
- 17:29Speaker 2: you almost have to realize that most people know names,
- 17:33Speaker 2: but they don't know what you're speaking of. When he
- 17:35Speaker 2: was saying, Justin Herbert kind of looks like the kind
- 17:41Speaker 2: of guy you want. What he's talking about is just
- 17:43Speaker 2: the height, the fundamentals, that aspect. Not the winning part.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Not the color part.
- 17:48Speaker 10: Mm-hmm.
- 17:51Speaker 2: He's talking about the part of if you went out,
- 17:54Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts is more of a running, he's Randall Cunningham,
- 18:02Speaker 2: Donovan McNabb type versus a Dan Marino type quarterback. Or
- 18:10Speaker 2: even a Matt Stafford in today's game. That's where the
- 18:15Speaker 2: Justin Herbert fits more in. I saw some things from
- 18:20Speaker 2: the The bad producers crowd, oh, he's trying to say.
- 18:25Speaker 4: I don't like the black quarterback.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Because he's black. And that's not what he was trying
- 18:33Speaker 2: to say at all. You get a little further and
- 18:37Speaker 2: people believe that with a guy that has more of
- 18:41Speaker 2: the Aaron Rodgers than Jalen Hurts. Jalen Hurts is still
- 18:48Speaker 2: prolific at winning.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Yes.
- 18:51Speaker 2: That's what he's prolific at. But he wasn't talking about
- 18:54Speaker 2: wins and losses. He was talking about the skill set. So,
- 19:01Speaker 2: bad producer. No, it wasn't.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Well, I mean, Herbert runs.
- 19:05Speaker 14: He has some running abilities to scramble, just like Bo
- 19:08Speaker 14: Nix or Rodgers.
- 19:11Speaker 2: No, he's not in the vein of Bo Nix. Bo
- 19:14Speaker 2: Nix is going to basically do more of his stuff
- 19:16Speaker 2: off the run. Justin Herbert prides himself more of trying
- 19:20Speaker 2: to be a pocket passer. I didn't say he couldn't run.
- 19:26Speaker 2: He's a good athlete. Yeah, I mean, he can. There's
- 19:30Speaker 2: some guys. When you said Dan Moreno, you never saw Dan.
- 19:33Speaker 2: He's going to throw it away before he tried to scramble.
- 19:36Speaker 2: I mean, Justin will. I've seen him in the past,
- 19:39Speaker 2: unless he's changed up in the last couple years. I've
- 19:43Speaker 2: seen him attempt to.
- 19:46Speaker 14: Make a run but I mean he's not like he's
- 19:49Speaker 14: not a you said, a dual threat as.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Jalen. And I understand the comparison.
- 19:57Speaker 14: It wasn't really that, I don't think he was really
- 20:00Speaker 14: trying to do the black and white thing. I mean,
- 20:02Speaker 14: I didn't see where, I don't know where you got
- 20:06Speaker 14: the information from, With my crowd, we wouldn't.
- 20:08Speaker 3: We didn't think nothing bad about what he was saying.
- 20:10Speaker 2: It was your crowd. Your, your, your. Black Twitter.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Black Twitter. Black Twitter. Black X. It's Black X now.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Black X.
- 20:21Speaker 4: Black Instagram. Black TikTok. Black.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Black Facebook.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Black everything.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Booing.
- 20:31Speaker 4: Booing.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Booing like. Choosing somebody to date.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 20:35Speaker 18: Boo.
- 20:37Speaker 2: I wanted to ask you guys before we get into
- 20:39Speaker 2: any of the games, as fans, well, as humans, have
- 20:45Speaker 2: you ever booed your son, your daughter? Have you ever
- 20:52Speaker 2: booed your brother, your sister? Have you ever booed your niece,
- 20:57Speaker 2: your nephew? Have you ever booed your best friend? Your mom,
- 21:03Speaker 2: your dad. Have you ever booed those people?
- 21:06Speaker 15: Yes.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Even if it's a joking matter?
- 21:11Speaker 2: Booed their performance.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Yes. No.
- 21:15Speaker 6: Yes.
- 21:16Speaker 3: I'm clown. Not clown.
- 21:18Speaker 22: Boo.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Boo.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Boo. Nephew out there playing and you booed.
- 21:24Speaker 3: That's not what Johnson do.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Boo. Boo. Boo.
- 21:27Speaker 2: You're embarrassing us.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Stop that.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Have you done that?
- 21:30Speaker 3: Stop doing what you did.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Have you done what the Cleveland Browns crowd has done
- 21:34Speaker 2: to Deshaun Jackson when it was your friend, your relative?
- 21:40Speaker 2: The sports jock is out on the field doing something.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Are you up there booing me? Have you ever done that?
- 21:47Speaker 4: I've never done that. Have you ever done that? Oh, no, no,
- 21:50Speaker 4: not like that. Like you on the field with a team.
- 21:54Speaker 4: I thought like maybe you was up there at a
- 21:56Speaker 4: talent show and you was doing super horrible and we'd
- 21:59Speaker 4: be like, boo, don't do that.
- 22:01Speaker 2: No, I'm saying a relative, close friend. Have you ever
- 22:08Speaker 2: booed the performance in a sporting arena Not in the arena. Okay.
- 22:14Speaker 3: But I've told them. In the living room. You look
- 22:16Speaker 3: like boo-boo. In the living room. I told them you
- 22:18Speaker 3: look like boo-boo. No, no.
- 22:20Speaker 4: We do a little, hey, get up, show them your dance. Hey,
- 22:24Speaker 4: they got a little, you know, my family, very talented.
- 22:27Speaker 4: And we creative and we don't mind displaying it. But
- 22:30Speaker 4: if you, hey, mama, daddy, watch me. And then you
- 22:33Speaker 4: get up there and you done wasted my time with
- 22:35Speaker 4: this mama, daddy, watch me.
- 22:36Speaker 3: I will speak on that.
- 22:38Speaker 10: But.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Once you get to the talent show, if you don't
- 22:41Speaker 4: do well, I'll save that till we get to the house.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Like, ah, you could have practiced more. We'll talk about
- 22:47Speaker 2: it on the side of the break. Since you have
- 22:49Speaker 2: it and you don't boo, yo people. Why you booing
- 22:55Speaker 2: anybody else? You know where I'm going with this. Why
- 22:57Speaker 2: you booing everybody else? We'll talk about that.
- 22:59Speaker 4: You ain't booing Lil' Tommy when he did that bomb
- 23:03Speaker 4: Easter speech.
- 23:04Speaker 2: We'll be back right after this. I'm not related to
- 23:06Speaker 2: Lil' Tommy, though.

- 23:30Speaker 3: one question for the veterans listening.
- 23:32Speaker 2: When is the last time you reached out for help?
- 23:36Speaker 24: If you or someone you know needs resources, whether it's
- 23:39Speaker 24: for stress, finances, employment, or mental.

- 25:40Speaker 10: Yeah, dough boy, this is the official hustler's anthem.
- 25:43Speaker 25: You getting money?
- 25:44Speaker 3: Throw it.
- 25:49Speaker 15: In the.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Air.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Sports Talk Show. I'm the Sports
- 26:00Speaker 2: Talk Wayne Candy. Good morning to you out there in
- 26:03Speaker 2: listening land. The WNBA playoffs kicked off yesterday. Why? I
- 26:08Speaker 2: don't know why the schedule makers do that. I have
- 26:11Speaker 2: no clue. I've been telling y'all that it's been a
- 26:12Speaker 2: mystery for a while. Why they would kick off their playoffs.
- 26:17Speaker 2: I guess they've run the numbers and figured that the
- 26:20Speaker 2: crowd they are going to draw just doesn't like the NFL.
- 26:28Speaker 2: But to start all four of your games, playoff games
- 26:33Speaker 2: yesterday in the heart of It's confusing.
- 26:38Speaker 3: In the mouth of the lion.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Two, four, six, and eight. Those were the times. And
- 26:43Speaker 2: you start doing it on a football Sunday. When you
- 26:48Speaker 2: have charge of, that's the thing. You have, you're in charge.
- 26:54Speaker 2: You would have been better off Saturday against college or Monday.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Today probably would have been better. You were in control
- 27:02Speaker 2: of winning that. I wouldn't have been up there. That's
- 27:06Speaker 2: not something I would vote for as an owner. You're
- 27:08Speaker 2: talking about subtle changes that can increase your viewership. Most
- 27:15Speaker 2: people would just know the final score, especially yesterday. It
- 27:19Speaker 2: was some great games, so I don't even have time
- 27:22Speaker 2: to flip over. I'm just keeping count of score on
- 27:27Speaker 2: the phone.
- 27:28Speaker 4: Do you think that's trying to stay on message with
- 27:32Speaker 4: we are equal? If I start moving my time slot,
- 27:39Speaker 4: then I'm admitting without admitting. It's an understood, unspoken thing
- 27:48Speaker 4: that I can't compete with you. So I'm trying to
- 27:51Speaker 4: tell you that my sport is as good as any
- 27:54Speaker 4: sport and we deserve this and we deserve that. But,
- 27:57Speaker 4: you know, the NFL game on four o'clock, what that
- 28:00Speaker 4: got to do with me? And then nobody watches. And
- 28:04Speaker 4: then we have to come up with another reason nobody's watching.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Because the truth of the matter is you can't compete.
- 28:10Speaker 2: And that's why the viewership, they must feel like the
- 28:13Speaker 2: people who come to the game are going to come.
- 28:16Speaker 2: That they have their crowd, maybe. That's the only reasoning
- 28:19Speaker 2: I could put it. They have their crowd that's going
- 28:22Speaker 2: to come. The NFL football crowd doesn't come to our games,
- 28:27Speaker 2: I guess, maybe.
- 28:28Speaker 13: From what I saw, especially with the Valkyries game in
- 28:33Speaker 13: San Francisco, it was sold out.
- 28:36Speaker 2: You know, that's 18,000 seats. But the 49ers are playing, well,
- 28:38Speaker 2: it's up the road in Santa Clara, but Still, there
- 28:45Speaker 2: was– they still had a sold-out crowd. But, yeah, there
- 28:51Speaker 2: are people that are going to go to the games.
- 28:52Speaker 2: But if you want people– this is about people watching
- 28:55Speaker 2: the games on TV. I didn't get to see Asia
- 29:00Speaker 2: score 38 yesterday. You start the game at 4 o'clock.
- 29:04Speaker 2: I didn't get to see that. I'm watching Cowboys and Ravens.
- 29:07Speaker 2: And I'm clicking on the phone like, oh, okay. Looking
- 29:12Speaker 2: at the score, oh, Aja going off. But it still
- 29:14Speaker 2: didn't make me want to flip away from this Dallas
- 29:17Speaker 2: Ravens game. Lamar and Dak got me right now.
- 29:21Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 29:22Speaker 2: I'd like to get to it. I'll catch the one Tuesday.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Y'all playing Tuesday, right? Okay, then I'll catch that one because,
- 29:28Speaker 2: you know, it's just really Atlanta, the dream, winning big yesterday.
- 29:33Speaker 2: But I can't come– to the arena, I know.
- 29:37Speaker 14: It's- Maybe it's the- the mindset, though, because at the
- 29:42Speaker 14: sports bar, they're going to have the TVs on, but
- 29:44Speaker 14: maybe one or two TVs, they will have possibly the race,
- 29:49Speaker 14: the game, and a baseball game on, and where the
- 29:52Speaker 14: other 50 TVs got football, but.
- 29:54Speaker 2: You may have... Did you watch WNBA yesterday? Oh, no,
- 29:58Speaker 2: I wasn't at a sports bar. Did you watch... No,
- 30:00Speaker 2: it isn't.
- 30:01Speaker 4: Until you mentioned it, I didn't know it was happening.
- 30:04Speaker 2: That's my point. So four men who love sports didn't
- 30:08Speaker 2: get to catch any of it.
- 30:10Speaker 4: And then you have to understand, being in the arena
- 30:12Speaker 4: watching a WNBA playoff game is nowhere near akin to
- 30:16Speaker 4: being in a sports bar. They don't want to advertise
- 30:19Speaker 4: any other competing sporting events. And that's the problem now,
- 30:25Speaker 4: the competing sporting event.
- 30:27Speaker 3: No, I'm saying if you was at like Wild Wings
- 30:29Speaker 3: or something. You would have to request. Yes, can we
- 30:32Speaker 3: get the WNBA on this TV?
- 30:33Speaker 2: Somebody would have to go request that on a football Sunday.
- 30:36Speaker 3: On a football Sunday.
- 30:37Speaker 4: You would get more demand for a New Orleans Saints game.
- 30:44Speaker 4: here in Atlanta than you would a WNBA playoff game.
- 30:47Speaker 2: You'd have to request that on a Sunday.
- 30:49Speaker 14: Well, no, I wasn't asking to put, like, I just
- 30:52Speaker 14: was saying they have 50 TVs, three out of the 47.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Yeah, there might be one.
- 30:58Speaker 14: There might be one that'll have it on, and you
- 30:59Speaker 14: can just go, oh.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Well, unless sports bars have changed in the last year,
- 31:08Speaker 2: on Sunday they only have football up there. They don't
- 31:10Speaker 2: care what else is up there until someone.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Comes and asks. And they could say no.
- 31:16Speaker 4: And they could say no based off the fact that
- 31:21Speaker 4: there are 50 TVs up here and only.
- 31:25Speaker 3: One of them is going to show the W. It's
- 31:28Speaker 3: not that important, obviously.
- 31:31Speaker 4: Like the Raiders fan just reminded us that the Major
- 31:37Speaker 4: League Baseball playoffs start tomorrow.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 31:40Speaker 4: In a 50-TV arena on a Monday night, 40 of
- 31:46Speaker 4: them TVs would be dedicated to football. Ten of them
- 31:52Speaker 4: will have the Major League Baseball playoffs on without anybody asking.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Baseball is that important to viewers. And they'll be in
- 31:58Speaker 3: the afternoon when they're not there. And that's all I'm saying.
- 32:03Speaker 4: The WNBA has a competing event problem. And it's because
- 32:09Speaker 4: of when they schedule their season. And it's always going
- 32:12Speaker 4: to be that way. Well, and that's what I mean.
- 32:15Speaker 4: When you're in charge, why couldn't they have started today?
- 32:18Speaker 2: You're right. You're right.
- 32:21Speaker 3: And that's what I'm asking you.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Do you think that they're just demanding that they get
- 32:25Speaker 4: equal time and equal space?
- 32:27Speaker 2: I think the only way they could feel is that
- 32:30Speaker 2: their audience, at least at the arena, is their audience.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Maybe that's what they have decided.
- 32:37Speaker 4: But viewership, again, is what drives the big revenue.
- 32:41Speaker 2: I would have caught the Aces versus the Fever on
- 32:47Speaker 2: any other day. Except yesterday. You're telling me that Kelsey Mitchell,
- 32:53Speaker 2: Kaitlyn Clark is taking on Jackie Young and Asia Wilson
- 32:58Speaker 2: in the NBA playoffs. Best of three. Which means, you know,
- 33:03Speaker 2: I would have saw that.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Except for?
- 33:05Speaker 2: Except for you competing against the Ravens and the Cowboys.
- 33:10Speaker 3: From Rio de Janeiro, no less.
- 33:13Speaker 2: It would have had to be a finals game.
- 33:16Speaker 3: And even then? You know what I'm saying?
- 33:19Speaker 2: No, I'm saying it would have to be a finals
- 33:21Speaker 2: game five.
- 33:22Speaker 3: And even then, would you have watched the whole game?
- 33:26Speaker 10: No.
- 33:26Speaker 3: On a Sunday? On a Sunday.
- 33:27Speaker 2: You'd have flipped back and forth.
- 33:29Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 33:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I would have flipped. You might have even recorded.
- 33:33Speaker 2: At halftime, I would have went to the basketball game.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Or I would have recorded it to make sure I
- 33:43Speaker 2: could report on it.
- 33:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:45Speaker 2: But actually looking at it would not have been something
- 33:48Speaker 2: on my radar. We were talking about booing. And I
- 33:52Speaker 2: guess as a panel, nobody has ever really actually booed
- 33:58Speaker 2: their person that's performing in a sporting event. So my
- 34:04Speaker 2: question was, why do fans boo? You wouldn't do it
- 34:08Speaker 2: if Deshaun was your nephew. You wouldn't do it if
- 34:13Speaker 2: Cooper Rush was your cousin. You just sit there. Why
- 34:21Speaker 2: do you do it to opposing, I mean, your team?
- 34:24Speaker 2: I know why you do it to the other team.
- 34:27Speaker 2: I know why the Falcon fans boo the Saints. I
- 34:31Speaker 2: don't know why the Falcon fans boo the Falcons.
- 34:35Speaker 4: Do you think that part of what happens in these
- 34:38Speaker 4: scenarios when fans boo the home team is that partially
- 34:44Speaker 4: this is the last option I've got available to voice
- 34:48Speaker 4: my displeasure? I can't say the wrong thing completely because
- 34:54Speaker 4: somebody come and squirt me out the game. I can't
- 34:56Speaker 4: throw nothing. I can't get up and shout. I can't
- 34:59Speaker 4: bring in signs. They don't let me do a lot
- 35:02Speaker 4: of the stuff I used to do when I was upset.
- 35:05Speaker 4: I used to be able to wear certain costumes, but
- 35:07Speaker 4: now those costumes are considered racist or somehow unpopular. And
- 35:17Speaker 4: so now all I got left is my boo. I
- 35:19Speaker 4: paid $ 75 for this ticket, and y'all can't score from
- 35:23Speaker 4: the four-yard line.
- 35:24Speaker 10: Boo.
- 35:25Speaker 4: I mean, I would have said, yo, daddy and mama
- 35:29Speaker 4: wasted a good making you, but that'd get me kicked out.
- 35:33Speaker 4: So now I just got all I got. I used
- 35:35Speaker 4: to throw a cup of ice. Now all I got
- 35:38Speaker 4: is the boo.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Comanche, Babadook.
- 35:40Speaker 13: I think, Burr, like with you saying that, it's the
- 35:44Speaker 13: you had an expectation of your team. you thought they
- 35:48Speaker 13: were going to win or at least score some points.
- 35:52Speaker 13: And if you, if they're not playing well and it
- 35:55Speaker 13: doesn't seem like they're playing with any, there's no effort.
- 35:59Speaker 2: There's no passion. Do they even want to be out there?
- 36:02Speaker 2: If it looks that way, I think that's where a
- 36:05Speaker 2: lot of the booze come from.
- 36:07Speaker 3: That's where I would boo.
- 36:09Speaker 13: But I, I mean, I, that's not something I do. I,
- 36:12Speaker 13: even if it is my team, I don't put my
- 36:14Speaker 13: team like that.
- 36:15Speaker 22: Hmm.
- 36:15Speaker 2: I'm just disappointed. Why do you boo your team?
- 36:19Speaker 3: I cuss them out. I don't boo.
- 36:21Speaker 2: I cuss out.
- 36:22Speaker 3: I boo, but I mean it's like.
- 36:24Speaker 2: I'm talking about, hold on, about being self-centered. When I
- 36:30Speaker 2: ask you the question, I'm talking about why do people
- 36:32Speaker 2: boo their team? I'm just going to think the same
- 36:38Speaker 2: reason I boo them. I'm mad at you. Well, you
- 36:40Speaker 2: just said you don't boo. If I'm at home, I'm
- 36:44Speaker 2: cussing the TV. But I'm like, Kenny, if you're in
- 36:46Speaker 2: the public forum, you got to boo them. You can't
- 36:48Speaker 2: cuss and say, what the heck. You got to be
- 36:52Speaker 2: careful because of that little reading they read. You get
- 36:55Speaker 2: kicked out. But booing, it makes you feel better. If
- 37:03Speaker 2: something goes wrong. So it's about you feeling better. Hopefully
- 37:08Speaker 2: that boo will give you. I'm telling you. Hold on.
- 37:12Speaker 2: I gave you a minute. We got to go to break.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Do you see the clock?
- 37:16Speaker 3: That boo can give him a good energy. With your eyes,
- 37:18Speaker 3: do you see the clock?
- 37:19Speaker 2: Do you see the clock? I need you.
- 37:20Speaker 3: To find an instance of when booing helped.
- 37:23Speaker 2: We'll be back and let you finish your statement right
- 37:25Speaker 2: after this.

- 40:02Speaker 4: There.
- 40:03Speaker 3: It's way in there.
- 40:07Speaker 21: Oh, log on so you can see the sports J-O-C,
- 40:12Speaker 21: even Big Kenny.
- 40:15Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Sports Talk Show. I'm the Sports
- 40:17Speaker 2: Talk Wayne Gandy. Good morning to you out there listening land.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Monday night football tonight. The Eagles at the Bears. Eagles 2-0.
- 40:27Speaker 2: The Bears are 1-1. I'm quite sure the Bears are
- 40:32Speaker 2: going to try to run the ball tonight, play some defense,
- 40:35Speaker 2: slow down Jalen Hurts in that offense that he has.
- 40:40Speaker 2: We left just wrapping and putting a bow on booing,
- 40:43Speaker 2: trying to find out why fans boo their team. We
- 40:48Speaker 2: get why you boo the other team, but I don't
- 40:52Speaker 2: get it. I never got it even as a player.
- 40:55Speaker 2: of what you think booing me is doing? Bad producer
- 41:02Speaker 2: says maybe it's, what was that last little comment you were.
- 41:05Speaker 21: Trying to say?
- 41:06Speaker 3: I was saying that it can give you energy.
- 41:10Speaker 14: It can change the mojo sometimes if there's, like if
- 41:15Speaker 14: it's the first half and you're going out in the
- 41:17Speaker 14: crowd booing and you're like, man, they booing at us.
- 41:20Speaker 3: This is my home team. I mean, you, as a player, you,
- 41:23Speaker 3: I don't want to be booed.
- 41:25Speaker 14: Even like Kenny said, when his, at home, when his,
- 41:29Speaker 14: that's where you get your chops up.
- 41:30Speaker 3: You get booed.
- 41:32Speaker 14: The worst, your, your, your family and friends should be
- 41:35Speaker 14: your worst critic. If you could take it from them,
- 41:37Speaker 14: you should be able to handle it from anybody. So booing,
- 41:40Speaker 14: you shouldn't be able, booing from a stranger, it shouldn't,
- 41:42Speaker 14: it should motivate you or make you, I don't, I
- 41:46Speaker 14: don't have no connection to them, but they really feel something.
- 41:49Speaker 3: I'm going to have to do something better.
- 41:51Speaker 4: Um, Conversely, also, if you are doing something, I imagine
- 41:59Speaker 4: once you get on the team, your effort, your passion
- 42:04Speaker 4: is on display. And for people to be disappointed in
- 42:08Speaker 4: you is one thing. But for the people who you
- 42:12Speaker 4: need to believe in you most to be disappointed in
- 42:15Speaker 4: you so much that they're willing to openly voice that
- 42:19Speaker 4: is a completely different thing. For me, I may give
- 42:23Speaker 4: critique in private because critique can move you forward.
- 42:28Speaker 3: But in public, that is just criticism. There was no
- 42:34Speaker 3: guidance offered before. There was no instruction.
- 42:37Speaker 4: I'm just telling you after the project has been failed
- 42:41Speaker 4: that you didn't do it right.
- 42:44Speaker 14: But we need to go right now. We need to,
- 42:45Speaker 14: we can't, we, I don't, this is your one chance.
- 42:48Speaker 14: This is your moment.
- 42:49Speaker 2: This is it.
- 42:49Speaker 3: Right, right. So I'm going to boo you. You better
- 42:51Speaker 3: get together.
- 42:52Speaker 4: I'm saying, and then for me, this is the thing
- 42:55Speaker 4: about booing. I don't know how many one chances and
- 42:58Speaker 4: moments you faced. Well, what about that second half?
- 43:00Speaker 2: Let me finish.
- 43:01Speaker 4: The halftime speech. I don't, I don't know. I don't
- 43:04Speaker 4: know how many once in a lifetime chances your moments
- 43:08Speaker 4: you face and fail. But a boo or a, Let's
- 43:14Speaker 4: get back out there. Could be the difference between you
- 43:16Speaker 4: trying again. That's all I'm saying. There are people who
- 43:19Speaker 4: get booed and man, this ain't worth it. I tried
- 43:24Speaker 4: as hard as I could.
- 43:25Speaker 2: Here is booing. Booing now erases you as a fan
- 43:34Speaker 2: from any team acknowledgement. When we win, you are now
- 43:49Speaker 2: no longer. All we're doing in the locker room is
- 43:55Speaker 2: passing to each other the venom that our own team
- 44:05Speaker 2: fans turned on us. Now we no longer care to
- 44:12Speaker 2: win for you. You might take the turnaround. We might
- 44:19Speaker 2: come back and win the game. We might go on
- 44:24Speaker 2: to win the Super Bowl. You're taking delight that we
- 44:28Speaker 2: won the Super Bowl. But we as players are not
- 44:33Speaker 2: giving you any credit for being part of it. Moms
- 44:44Speaker 2: and dads, unless you played ball or you was there
- 44:49Speaker 2: for every time I threw the ball, keep your critique
- 44:54Speaker 2: to yourself. Just get back in your Rolls Royce.
- 44:59Speaker 3: Go home.
- 45:03Speaker 2: And get them pots to clicking so I can eat.
- 45:07Speaker 2: But you trying to tell me what we should have
- 45:09Speaker 2: done and what we could have did is not necessary.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Booing helps nothing. We could have gotten the same energy
- 45:26Speaker 2: that the bad producer wants to shoot at us by silence.
- 45:33Speaker 2: We see you sitting in the stands. I know you're
- 45:41Speaker 2: shaking your head, but how you gonna shake your head
- 45:43Speaker 2: to somebody who's been booed? and been through this. I
- 45:52Speaker 2: played for the Rams when the Rams sucked. When a
- 46:00Speaker 2: four win season was something that we was trying to scribe,
- 46:04Speaker 2: where we lost 10 games in a row. Thing I
- 46:06Speaker 2: don't know about, what do you think your booze? You
- 46:08Speaker 2: don't have more expectations of me winning today than me.
- 46:13Speaker 2: That's where the fan gets lost. Your dejection is not
- 46:22Speaker 2: stronger than mine.
- 46:26Speaker 3: Never said that. We're just trying to help with the
- 46:29Speaker 3: pull you up. Well, I'm saying.
- 46:33Speaker 4: I'm feeling down and your way to help me is
- 46:39Speaker 4: to stand on my shoulders.
- 46:42Speaker 2: You think that's going to lift me up?
- 46:45Speaker 4: No, no, no. I'm saying what you're expressing, what you're expressing,
- 46:51Speaker 4: people have termed tough love. And there are people who
- 46:54Speaker 4: somehow have managed to make that a whole philosophy in
- 46:58Speaker 4: motivating people.
- 47:00Speaker 3: Tough love.
- 47:01Speaker 4: And what I'm saying is that that is something that,
- 47:05Speaker 4: like the weather, people just try their best to predict.
- 47:09Speaker 4: You can't guarantee that some people benefit from tough love
- 47:14Speaker 4: because that's the only love they have.
- 47:16Speaker 2: You would be better being quiet or just leaving. When
- 47:21Speaker 2: you send that boo down, just like I just asked you,
- 47:27Speaker 2: if Deshaun Watson was your brother, you wouldn't boo him.
- 47:33Speaker 2: You would just sit down or you would leave.
- 47:39Speaker 3: I'm just thinking, man.
- 47:41Speaker 2: I've never booed the Auburn Tigers. I've sat there and
- 47:47Speaker 2: watched them and been highly disappointed.
- 47:51Speaker 3: Highly.
- 47:52Speaker 2: But I'm not about to sit here and boo them.
- 47:54Speaker 2: That doesn't do anything.
- 47:56Speaker 14: But have you said something like, man, I can't believe they...
- 47:59Speaker 14: playing like, oh, I don't understand. That's one thing. But still,
- 48:03Speaker 14: that's the same. To express your disappointment.
- 48:05Speaker 3: But that's like a boo.
- 48:06Speaker 2: That's just like a boo.
- 48:08Speaker 3: It's like a boo.
- 48:09Speaker 2: I'm not just saying.
- 48:10Speaker 3: That's your man. My uncle told me one time.
- 48:12Speaker 2: You introduced me to him.
- 48:14Speaker 3: I never will forget him. We'll be back.
- 48:15Speaker 2: More of the Sports Talk show right after this.
- 48:17Speaker 3: I'm just telling. Yeah, I don't get it.
- 48:27Speaker 6: Don't go away.
- 48:28Speaker 2: More of the Sports Jock Show with Wayne Gamby is
- 48:31Speaker 2: coming up next.
- 48:32Speaker 25: And now let's talk about something exciting, life insurance.
- 48:35Speaker 16: Three-quarters of Americans believe that coverage represents a critical piece
- 48:39Speaker 16: of financial security, yet only 49% actually have life insurance.
- 48:43Speaker 8: When I was 25, me and my wife were just
- 48:45Speaker 8: getting started with our family and thought we lived forever.
- 48:48Speaker 8: Life insurance was the last thing on my mind.
- 48:50Speaker 2: What about you? Will you be leaving benefits or bills?
- 48:53Speaker 8: When I was 40, with a kid in college and
- 48:55Speaker 8: bills piling up, I was worried how my family would
- 48:57Speaker 8: survive without me. That's when I made an appointment with
- 48:59Speaker 8: the insurance informant.
- 49:00Speaker 2: We'll be right back.
- 49:10Speaker 3: The answer is easy.
- 49:11Speaker 16: Whether you're 25 or 50, whether you earn a little
- 49:14Speaker 16: or a lot, all you need is the insurance informant
- 49:16Speaker 16: to help you build a foundation of security. Because without you,
- 49:20Speaker 16: your family will have two options, benefits or bills. Which
- 49:24Speaker 16: legacy will you leave behind? Log on today, benefitsorbills.com. That's benefitsorbills.com.
- 49:33Speaker 9: Some people won't give you the real talk on drugs,
- 49:35Speaker 9: but it's time we know the facts. Fentanyl is killing people.
- 49:39Speaker 9: It's a powerful opioid often made illegally and commonly mixed
- 49:42Speaker 9: with illicit drugs. It can even be pressed into counterfeit
- 49:45Speaker 9: pills that resemble prescription medications. Just two milligrams, about the
- 49:50Speaker 9: size of a few grains of sand, could potentially be lethal.
- 49:53Speaker 9: This isn't an ad to scare you, but it is
- 49:55Speaker 9: an ad to make you think twice. Get the facts.
- 49:58Speaker 9: Go to realdealonfentanyl.com. This message is brought to you by
- 50:02Speaker 9: the Ad Council. You wanted to be cool, which led
- 50:05Speaker 9: you to smoking, which led to a pack a day.
- 50:08Speaker 9: Then you met that special someone, which led to starting
- 50:11Speaker 9: a life with them, which led to wanting to live longer,
- 50:15Speaker 9: which led to quitting. Then you heard you may be
- 50:18Speaker 9: at risk for lung cancer, which led you to getting
- 50:21Speaker 9: a low-dose CT scan, If you smoked, get scanned. Talk
- 50:25Speaker 9: to your doctor and learn more at SavedByTheScan.org. Brought to
- 50:30Speaker 9: you by the American Lung Association and the Ad Council.
- 50:35Speaker 2: And now, back to the sports jar, Wayne Gandy.
- 50:40Speaker 6: Center Court. On sports, news, gossip, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Sports Shop Show.
- 51:05Speaker 2: I'm the Sports Shop Wayne Kendi. Who is your celebrity crush?
- 51:09Speaker 2: Who was that person, man or woman, growing up when
- 51:13Speaker 2: you was 10, 12, 13, 15? You didn't know the person.
- 51:18Speaker 2: You most likely was watching TV or magazine. That's where
- 51:22Speaker 2: you saw them, and you had a little crush on them.
- 51:25Speaker 2: We will talk about that in the next hour. But here,
- 51:29Speaker 2: as we said, WNBA playoffs have started. Monday Night Football, Eagles, Bears,
- 51:36Speaker 2: and Major League Baseball starts its drive to the World
- 51:41Speaker 2: Series starting tomorrow as well. But a couple of NFL games.
- 51:48Speaker 2: Cleveland beating Carolina 21-18. Cleveland is 2-1. After all that
- 51:56Speaker 2: quarterback controversy, Deshaun Watson throwing for two touchdowns, a guy
- 52:01Speaker 2: who went home and they cheered him, but they had
- 52:05Speaker 2: been booing him. What's that statement Deion uses? Keeping receipts?
- 52:12Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 52:13Speaker 2: Yeah, trust me. He's keeping receipts that the Cleveland fans,
- 52:16Speaker 2: and they're notorious for turning on their players. And I
- 52:20Speaker 2: don't know why y'all think that's helping when Deion, When
- 52:25Speaker 2: you do it, but Deshaun Watson, this team, catching Carolina,
- 52:29Speaker 2: probably overlooking them after beating the Falcons the way they did,
- 52:33Speaker 2: probably overlooked Cleveland and lost. Just waiting for them to
- 52:39Speaker 2: show up.
- 52:40Speaker 15: 21-18.
- 52:40Speaker 2: The Steelers, 30-27 over the Bengals yesterday. Aaron Rodgers in
- 52:44Speaker 2: that offense under Mike McCarthy caught some steam after they
- 52:48Speaker 2: bad-lossed a week before against the Patriots. One of the
- 52:54Speaker 2: teams we were talking about 0-3, surprisingly, the Houston Texans
- 52:58Speaker 2: losing to the Colts, 19-17. Not surprised that they lost
- 53:02Speaker 2: to the Colts as much as that they're 0-3. We're
- 53:06Speaker 2: talking about a team that played very well last year.
- 53:09Speaker 2: I think they made it to the second round of
- 53:11Speaker 2: the playoffs. C.J. Stroud, I think we mentioned about him.
- 53:16Speaker 2: One thing, he seems not have made the adjustment to
- 53:19Speaker 2: the adjustment yet.
- 53:21Speaker 10: Right.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Has a lot of talent, had a big rookie year,
- 53:25Speaker 2: but he's still in that kind of sophomore, not getting
- 53:28Speaker 2: a lot out of him. 19-17 in that game. Down
- 53:33Speaker 2: in Miami, the Chiefs 24-10 over the Dolphins. Malik Willis
- 53:42Speaker 2: and that offense still sputtering, but Travis Kelsey and Patrick
- 53:47Speaker 2: Mahomes and with that run game of Kennett Walker III,
- 53:54Speaker 2: the Chiefs, very dangerous. Very dangerous. And it's all about
- 53:59Speaker 2: the health of those three, especially Kenneth Walker. He is
- 54:04Speaker 2: making this offense look like that first year or two
- 54:09Speaker 2: when Patrick Mahomes took over with that ability to really
- 54:13Speaker 2: hurt you running the ball when you play those soft
- 54:16Speaker 2: coverages to stop the pass. They give it to Kenneth Walker.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Next thing you know, he's running Up your back. Big Kenny,
- 54:23Speaker 2: you're a J-E-T-S. Jets, Jets, Jets. Losing to the Lions,
- 54:27Speaker 2: but the Jets are playing some ball, though.
- 54:31Speaker 3: Moxie?
- 54:31Speaker 4: I mean, if they were giving trophies for Moxie, we'd
- 54:35Speaker 4: have one.
- 54:35Speaker 2: Yeah, if that was a thing.
- 54:37Speaker 3: If that was a thing, we'd have a Moxie trophy, definitely.
- 54:40Speaker 2: But definitely playing some football, surprisingly, with the shuffling. So
- 54:46Speaker 2: many of the big names out and bringing Geno Smith,
- 54:50Speaker 2: who's been there before, just haven't, you know, really figured
- 54:54Speaker 2: out what they're going to do at the quarterback. But
- 54:56Speaker 2: at least now they're making some plays.
- 54:58Speaker 4: We're working on closing out, closing the deal. We got
- 55:03Speaker 4: great negotiation skills. We're good at getting them to the table.
- 55:07Speaker 4: We just can't seem to get their names on the
- 55:11Speaker 4: dotted line. We have to pass them off to another salesman.
- 55:14Speaker 2: Isn't that part of it, though? Learning how to win,
- 55:18Speaker 2: learning how to finish things out. Yeah, everything takes practice.
- 55:23Speaker 2: So even that's a part of it, but they are
- 55:25Speaker 2: one and two are the JTS.
- 55:27Speaker 3: Jets, Jets, Jets.
- 55:29Speaker 2: And they put up a fight yesterday in this game.
- 55:33Speaker 2: Gino was sacked five times, though, by the Lions, but
- 55:37Speaker 2: he threw three touchdowns and zero interceptions against a tenacious
- 55:43Speaker 2: Lions team. So hats off to Aaron Glenn and that
- 55:48Speaker 2: staff to start building. And as far as they have
- 55:53Speaker 2: been down, it's good to see the Jets playing some
- 55:58Speaker 2: quality football, even in a loss. The Raiders. I know
- 56:05Speaker 2: your man from New York is beaming. Since yesterday. He's
- 56:12Speaker 2: been beaming.
- 56:13Speaker 3: He's been beaming.
- 56:16Speaker 4: He's the only guy that contacts the show when there
- 56:18Speaker 4: is no show. He just reaches out to the show
- 56:22Speaker 4: randomly on some, hey, what you doing?
- 56:23Speaker 3: Did you see the Raiders?
- 56:27Speaker 2: The Ravens, 35. Excuse me, the Raiders, 35. The Saints, 27.
- 56:34Speaker 2: The Saints behind Tyler Shook. Did I say his name right?
- 56:40Speaker 10: Yes.
- 56:40Speaker 20: Okay.
- 56:40Speaker 2: Because it ain't spelled nothing like that.
- 56:43Speaker 3: You would think it was Shuff for a show.
- 56:46Speaker 2: Unfortunately, it's his last name and not his first because
- 56:49Speaker 2: if it was his first name, he could be mad
- 56:52Speaker 2: at his parents for giving him a name that he
- 56:55Speaker 2: always has to explain to everybody. But it is not
- 57:02Speaker 2: spelled in any way as it is pronounced. No. So
- 57:05Speaker 2: that means that every class from first grade, he's had
- 57:09Speaker 2: to raise his hand. Excuse me. Excuse me, Mrs. Williams.
- 57:17Speaker 2: It's Shuck. Oh, and she looking at it. Well, if
- 57:20Speaker 2: you don't sit down, your name ain't no Shuck. Because
- 57:23Speaker 2: I was.
- 57:24Speaker 3: About to say, Mr. Finn and Mrs. McGillicuddy went with the, okay, Mr. Shuck,
- 57:31Speaker 3: but Ms. Williams was like, boy, sit down. I can read.
- 57:35Speaker 2: I can read. I'm the English teacher.
- 57:38Speaker 4: Right. Your name ain't no Shuck. I don't know who
- 57:41Speaker 4: told you that, but you need to bring them up here,
- 57:43Speaker 4: tell them to see me.
- 57:45Speaker 2: S-H-O-U-G-H. Is that how you spell his last name?
- 57:48Speaker 17: Yes.
- 57:49Speaker 2: Yeah. So at that time. Shuff.
- 57:50Speaker 14: Shuff.
- 57:52Speaker 2: Show? Show.
- 57:54Speaker 4: That's what it looked like to me. And how does
- 57:57Speaker 4: he pronounce it? How does he pronounce it again?
- 58:00Speaker 21: Shuck.
- 58:01Speaker 2: Shuck. Yeah, Mrs.
- 58:04Speaker 4: Williams would have got fired by then. I'm telling you,
- 58:06Speaker 4: you'd have to send Mrs. Williams home that day. Yeah,
- 58:09Speaker 4: because she would have called your mom and dad a liar. Yeah,
- 58:11Speaker 4: and call them lying and everything else. They bite on
- 58:14Speaker 4: that old dope. We'll be back to talk about the Raiders.
- 58:18Speaker 2: Talk about your celebrity crush as well, because that's where
- 58:22Speaker 2: that question came from with Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousin revealing
- 58:28Speaker 2: who his childhood crush was. That and much more in
- 58:30Speaker 2: the next hour. We'll be back with more of the
- 58:32Speaker 2: Sports Talk Show.
- 58:34Speaker 3: Don't go away.
- 58:36Speaker 7: More of the Sports Jock Show with Wayne.
- 58:39Speaker 3: Gamby is coming up next.
- 58:51Speaker 16: And now let's talk about something exciting, life insurance. Three
- 58:54Speaker 16: quarters of Americans believe that coverage represents a critical piece
- 58:57Speaker 16: of financial security, yet only 49% actually have life insurance.
- 59:02Speaker 8: When I was 25, me and my wife were just
- 59:04Speaker 8: getting started with our family and thought we lived forever.
- 59:06Speaker 8: Life insurance was the last thing on my mind.
- 59:08Speaker 2: What about you? Will you be leaving? That's when I
- 59:00Speaker 2: made an appointment with the insurance informant.
- 59:02Speaker 8: Information gives you power, and life insurance gives your family security,
- 59:05Speaker 8: no matter what stage of life you're in. Now that
- 59:24Speaker 8: I'm older, I don't worry about whether I'll leave my
- 59:27Speaker 8: family with bills or benefits.
- 59:28Speaker 3: The answer is easy.
- 59:29Speaker 16: Whether you're 25 or 50, whether you earn a little
- 59:32Speaker 16: or a lot, all you need is the insurance informant
- 59:34Speaker 16: to help you build a foundation of security.
- 59:37Speaker 6: Because without you.
- 59:38Speaker 2: Your family will have two options, benefits or bills. Which
- 59:42Speaker 2: legacy will you leave behind?
- 59:44Speaker 16: Log on today, benefitsorbills.com.
- 59:47Speaker 2: That's benefitsorbills.com.
- 59:53Speaker 6: Broadcasting live in Atlanta, Georgia, this, this is.
- 59:58Speaker 16: The Sports Chalk Show with Wayne Gandy.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Sports Shock Show.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: I'm the Sports Shock Wayne Candy. Good morning to you.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: The bad producer, Big Kenny, the funny man himself, Comanche Greg,
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: in the building on this beautiful fall day are we
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: in fall officially yes last last monday okay first day
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: of fall.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: Is upon us yeah i think we you can.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: Tell with the cool wind when you wake up it
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: does get up to about 80 uh 81 around two
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: o'clock For about an hour or two.
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: Then it'll go back to 76. It might be 90-something
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: next week.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: Monday Night Football, the Eagles-Bears tonight. Also look around for
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: your Major League Baseball schedule, your WNBA as well. We
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: left talking off about the Raiders being 3-0, 35-27 over
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: a gamey Saints team where you got to maybe take
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: the Saints serious. they're inspiring. They've won in two, but
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: they have been in all three of these games. They've
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: taken it down to the wire, trying to get back
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: to their winning ways. But Kirk Cousins yesterday, throwing for
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: three touchdowns in this game. Tyler Shuck for the Saints
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: threw for four touchdowns. So both quarterbacks playing well. But
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: we were talking about Kirk Cousins moving on And Kirk
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: Cousins has been a winner. Kirk Cousins has always been
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: in that second tier available guy that no surprise that
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: he's playing well. Not appreciated by the Falcon fans at all.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: But in Kirk Cousins' career, he's had a very Successful career,
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: has won, threw some numbers up in different places, never
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: been able to win the big game. That is true.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: But not surprised in a situation where he knows that
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: after this year, or even if they start losing a
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: couple of games, you never know when they might stick
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: the first pick of the draft. Remember, you always know
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: your job is up when the first pick of the draft.
- 1:02:55Speaker 27: Right.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: Not a first-round pick, but the first pick of the
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: draft at some point has to start. He has to.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: That's why you're the first pick of the draft. It's
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: no knock on you. It's just that y'all have decided
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: to go in another direction. That's true. And this guy
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: has the hit to feel. But right now, trust me,
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: they're going to ride Kirk Cousins. One loss won't get
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: him benched. So it's going to probably take two. Right now,
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: the Raiders playing great. I saw some of this game.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: The defense is flying around, doing some things. And this
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: is three touchdowns without Ashton Gentry having a big day.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: But a good game between the Raiders and the Saints.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Kirk Cousins was the one I got that question from.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: He was asked who his celebrity crush was growing up.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: And remember, Kirk Cousins is about 38. 39 right in there.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: He hasn't hit that 40 mark yet, but he is
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: in that kind of 38, 39 year old range. He
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: said Megan Good was his celebrity crush growing up. And
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: I did look up Megan Good's age. She's 45. So
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: older than, so when he was, would have been 10, 11,
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: she was 18, 19, where he would have been able
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: to see her in some things. Been around a long time.
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: I think the first time I ever remember her seeing
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: was as a little girl. She was at that ice
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: cream truck in Friday. And that was 30 years ago,
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: at least, for that movie. I think that movie came
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: out in what, 94, 95? So a little girl, but big,
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: bad producer. His celebrity crush growing up was Thelma Evans
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: from Good Times. Is that not correct? Good times? Her
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: real name is Janet Dubois.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: No, no. Thelma, that's Bernadette Stevens. I'm sorry.
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: Jeanette Dubois was Walona.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: He put Janet Dubois. I just know.
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: Thelma Evans was Walona. Oh, that was Walona.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: Walona, yeah.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: All I knew Thelma Evans.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: So he has the wrong... He wrote Janet Dubois, right?
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: That's Walona. But he had a crush on Thelma. Yes,
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: Bernadette Stannis. Bernadette Stannis. Okay, Bernadette.
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: Stannis is her name.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: You might want to know that name.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: More than me. I've seen her before. I called her Thelma.
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: I still call her Thelma.
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: Somebody be like Bernadette Stannis out here waiting on you.
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: I have called her Thelma.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: But you know actors don't like that.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: I know I found out from one of his good friends.
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: I almost got beat up. You know who I'm talking about.
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: So Bernadette Stannis, who played the character of Thelma Evans,
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: who really, after that show, really the only person was
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: James Amos that kept getting a lot of work.
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: Everyone else was. Esther Rowe had some work. Some work.
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: But everybody else stayed in good times. And James, John
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: Amos went all the way up through the Players Club
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: and everything else.
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: Yeah, he did a lot of work. Big Kenny. Nell Carter.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: That's correct.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: And remind me of Nell Carter. Give me a break.
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: Give me a break. Give me a break. She's the
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: big lady. Give me a break. I sure deserve it.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: Nell Carter. Let me look that up.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: Google Nell Carter. Google Nell Carter. Yes, sir.
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: The woman with the little meat on her mind.
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Nell Carter. Let me look up Nell.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: Okay, okay, okay. You remember her now.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I got you now. I remember her on that show.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: Nell Carter.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: Yes, sir. That was her.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: Give me a break.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: I'll break you off. I'll give you a break. And
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: she's actually singing the song.
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: Yeah, she was multi-talented theater, television.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: She's like Thelma.
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: I think she had a Tony Award.
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: She may have won an Emmy.
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: Okay, Nell Carter. Got you. Let's see if Nell's still alive. No,
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: she passed away.
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: 2003, I believe.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: Yeah, at the age of 54. Yeah, unfortunately. Nell passed away.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: Comanche Greg went with Halle Berry. And what do you
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: think you first saw her in? Halle Berry. That triggered that.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: What do you think you first saw her in? It
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: was either the movie.
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: It was either Boomerang or Strictly Business. Oh, you know
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: it was Babs when they was.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: No.
- 1:07:41Speaker 13: I have an uncle who took me to see Boomerang,
- 1:07:44Speaker 13: and I was only eight years old.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: I should not have watched it.
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: That's when I saw it.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: He said, I had an uncle that took me. And
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: for you, Sports Jock, who was it for you?
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: For me, it was Wilma Deering. She was a colonel.
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: Her real name was Erin Gray. She was on Buck Rogers.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: Buck Rogers, yeah. In the 25th century.
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: In the 25th century.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: Biddy, biddy, biddy, biddy, biddy.
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: Whoa, Buck.
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Twiggy. Yeah, I remember.
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: It was only around like maybe two, three years, the
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: Buck Rogers series.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: The Buck Rogers series.
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: Right in the early 80s. Her name was Erin Gray.
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: Erin Gray was on something else too.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: I used to love Buck Rogers.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: At that time that came on TV. I hadn't even
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: seen really invested in like Star Wars and stuff like that.
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: Like we didn't even get, you know, Star Wars was
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: something that probably came more to me as a teenager,
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: but Buck Rogers was on ABC.
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: And I used to love watching it.
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: And it was what I considered one of the first
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: opportunities we got to get a daily, not a daily,
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: but a weekly dose of science fiction. Because remember, it
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: used to just be drama-type sitcoms and things that they
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: would put on TV. But then Buck Rogers came along,
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: and every week it was a fantasy outside of Star Trek.
- 1:09:15Speaker 14: Yeah, Buck Rogers was a little bit more... you know,
- 1:09:18Speaker 14: adventurous than Star Trek. Star Trek seemed more scientific. You
- 1:09:22Speaker 14: had to really follow, but Buck Rogers was always on
- 1:09:24Speaker 14: these adventures.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: Well, and by that age, if you hadn't gotten in,
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: Star Trek started before I would have been born.
- 1:09:33Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: So Buck Rogers was right there when I hit eight,
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: nine years old to catch it from the beginning.
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: Shows like that and Battlestar Galactica.
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: They started right in that time.
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: We were from the inception of those shows.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: So, okay, some good, and all these I would say
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: definitely is in everybody's wheelhouse. I don't have any. And
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: it's right, that's why I asked Manch when he would
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: have seen her.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: And he was eight. And that's typically when the celebrity
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: crush starts to begin.
- 1:10:03Speaker 14: You want that poster, you should go get the poster
- 1:10:06Speaker 14: of it.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: Nah, they had no poster money. It wasn't 25 cents.
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: It came out. And posters was deemed demonic.
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: Just to show you the difference. He said posters wasn't
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: but 25 cents. And that was a time. When 25
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: cents might have, well, it's been $ 25 because it just
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: wasn't available. I remember apologizing to my mother once. I
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: called her and mama, remember when you used to be like,
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: I ain't got $ 5. And I used to think to myself,
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: I know this woman work every day.
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: She got $ 5. But my child just asked me for $ 5.
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: And I swear on my life, I ain't got it.
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: I ain't got it, mama.
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: I know. I'm telling not to give to the child.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: I ain't got the $ 5.
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: So I apologize because that's a real situation you find
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: yourself in. Yeah.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: And in those days, remember, 25 cent could get you
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: 25 cookies.
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: Yeah, well, yeah.
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: Penny cookies back in the day.
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: Y'all remember those?
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: You remember that?
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: With frosted cookies, too.
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: Not just old dry cookies, but a cookie with some
- 1:11:13Speaker 4: iced frosting on it.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: Yeah. So 25 cent was something they would give you.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: That was like they thought that was giving you money.
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: Have you had much experience since they stopped with the
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: circulation of the penny with getting that rounded up change?
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: Have you noticed?
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: Yeah, you go to places and they round up to
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: that nickel, that five cent or down. I know Chick-fil-A,
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: if it's $ 5. 23, they just go to $ 5. 20. So you
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: can save three cents. The penny is being faded out
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: like many things.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: Some people are telling you they don't have change, period.
- 1:11:54Speaker 14: Yeah, they don't do coins at all. They ain't got
- 1:11:56Speaker 14: no coins at all. They're like, yeah, give me my
- 1:11:58Speaker 14: 52 cents.
- 1:11:58Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: And I think the no coins at all is trying
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: to really force you to use a debit or credit card.
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: I was about to say, because where are they? I
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: haven't run into that yet, no coins at all.
- 1:12:10Speaker 14: Dollar General, they're notorious for about the, we don't have
- 1:12:15Speaker 14: any change or we don't have this.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I think the last time I was at maybe
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: like Cheesecake Factory, it was the same kind of thing.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: They don't do coins. They'll just bring you back the $ 7.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: They're not going to bring you back the $ 0.
- 1:12:30Speaker 14: 28.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: They don't do coins. But that's why I said I
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: think they're just trying to push you.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: Toward using some sort of electronic form of payment.
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: But we'll be back. More of the Sports Jock Show
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: right after this. Give me a break.
- 1:12:43Speaker 7: Now I know what it takes.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: I'm putting a new season on the old one.
- 1:12:49Speaker 8: Ready for anything.
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: Playing with fate.
- 1:12:52Speaker 27: Not a moment too late.

- 1:18:05Speaker 4: it'd be Arthur Blank. On his way on out with
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: about $ 100 billion on him.
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: Come back, Arthur. Avril Lavigne.
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: You only have to start.
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: No.
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: I mean, you only have to be married for a
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: short time.
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: Short time. We know.
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: We might not make it out past the honeymoon. Your
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: heart go to giving out. And then I'd be left
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: with all of that money. But Avril Lavigne, cluck clunk.
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: Okay. How old is she now?
- 1:18:33Speaker 21: 41.
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: Yeah, so she in that. then been traumatized a little
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: bit can traumatize me a little bit.
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: Might as well.
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: Ex-husband, you know, a bad kid, bad teenage kid or
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: something like that.
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: All of that, all of that, that whole, this stage
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: of life, that, that, the recipes for this stage of
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: life salad.
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: Go ahead, sir.
- 1:18:53Speaker 14: We got some people, you know, they're still throwing out
- 1:18:56Speaker 14: the name. So Daryl Bowen Sr., Miss Kitty was his crush.
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: From Gunsmoke.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: From Gunsmoke. Black and white. No, was it the color version?
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: Gunsmoke started off in black and white. I know it did,
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: but I wonder was it the color. And then they
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: colorized it. I wonder, that's why I was hoping he
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: had the color version. When color vision, why? Why would
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: he need the difference? Miss Kitty was Miss Kitty.
- 1:19:20Speaker 14: I ain't saying nothing bad about Miss Kitty now. I
- 1:19:22Speaker 14: like Miss Kitty now. It's on all the time.
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: I love that. I like Miss Kitty and her team.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: It's on somewhere.
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: Miss Kitty made it known. You could have it if
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: you got enough money.
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: Hey, Matt Dillon?
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: She wouldn't date Matt, though.
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: Hey, because he the law. She had her standards.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: Oh, she was in love with Matt.
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: I'm saying she had her standards, though.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: Anyone else on there? Besides Jared, he said Vanity. Vanity.
- 1:19:49Speaker 27: Vanity.
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: Vanity. Vanity about the same age.
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I was thinking, man.
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: He had a crush.
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: On him when he started liking girls till later. He
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: was focused on his studies. You know them dudes get
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: to college, it'd be their first girl experience.
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: Man, I've been focused on my books.
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: The first time I remember actually seeing Vanity was Purple Rain.
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: Yeah, we was about 17 then.
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: Who was that in Purple Rain? That was Apollonia.
- 1:20:22Speaker 13: Vanity was going to be in Purple Rain, but she
- 1:20:27Speaker 13: left Prince.
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: So what was Vanity in? Action Jackson.
- 1:20:33Speaker 14: Was she in Carl Weathers? But I thought she was
- 1:20:36Speaker 14: in that Shownup movie. What's the last dragon? Oh, yeah,
- 1:20:38Speaker 14: the last dragon. Yeah, Shownup, Kiss My Converse.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: Last dragon.
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: Bruce Leroy.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: I know the movie.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: I'm putting the faces together because her and Afalonia look alike.
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: Very much alike. Prince had a type. Prince had a type, yeah.
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: But we all, I ain't judging.
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: We all got a type, am I right?
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: Vanity married the guy from the Raiders who was in
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: jail for life who murdered a couple of people over there.
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: I blocked him. Blocked him when I... Oh, I thought
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: you was talking about it on social media. Social media.
- 1:21:11Speaker 22: I did, too.
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: I thought you blocked him.
- 1:21:12Speaker 14: I thought you blocked him on the football field. I
- 1:21:14Speaker 14: thought we was talking on social media. You talking about
- 1:21:16Speaker 14: you don't block him. Her husband on the football field.
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: He called you from jail.
- 1:21:20Speaker 14: You had to block him. How did I block him
- 1:21:21Speaker 14: on social media? I'm not on social media. I thought
- 1:21:23Speaker 14: you blocked him on calls, too. Collect calls. You said
- 1:21:26Speaker 14: he was in jail and you blocked him.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: So we... Oh, no, I'm talking about actually helmet, shoulder pads,
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: third and six, he's rushing to pass her and blocking him.
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: Yeah, we got it now. Anthony Wayne Smith.
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: Yeah, Ant Smith.
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: Yeah, we got it now.
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: He went on a little killing spree here, killed like
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: three or four people. Glad he didn't kill Vanity. And
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: threw him on the side of the highway. Vanity passed away.
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: He passed away before then.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: So slow down.
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: But Jared is Vanity. Daryl Bowens is Miss Kitty. Anybody
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: else on there?
- 1:21:59Speaker 10: No.
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: Okay. Well, anybody else, as this show winds down, please
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: hit us up. Let us know who was your celebrity crush.
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: Can you say is it Derek got into women later?
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: By his junior year of college.
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: Yay, look at that.
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: That is hilarious. We'll be back with more of the
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: Sports Talk show right after this.
- 1:22:23Speaker 6: In the end, it's him and I.
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: He's got his head on my mind. We got that love.
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: The crazy kind.
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: I am his and he is mine.
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: In the end, it's him and I.
- 1:22:36Speaker 25: My 65 speeding up the PCH a hell of a ride.
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: Don't go away. More of the Sports Jock Show with
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: Wayne Gamby is coming up next.
- 1:22:47Speaker 25: Remember, always be generous with the nutmeg.
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: Just eyeball it.
- 1:22:52Speaker 27: Okay.
- 1:22:53Speaker 20: Mom's wisdom has served you well, but now it may
- 1:22:56Speaker 20: be your turn to guide her.
- 1:22:58Speaker 19: Hey, I'm worried about Mom. She keeps forgetting her famous
- 1:23:01Speaker 19: sweet potato pie recipe.
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: Some things come with age, sis.
- 1:23:05Speaker 13: And some don't.
- 1:23:06Speaker 20: Knowing the early signs of Alzheimer's in a loved one
- 1:23:08Speaker 20: will help you make the best decisions for your family.
- 1:23:11Speaker 20: Visit 10signs. org to learn the signs. Brought to you by
- 1:23:14Speaker 20: the Alzheimer's Association and the Ad Council.
- 1:23:18Speaker 19: Choosing to buy a gun was not a decision I
- 1:23:20Speaker 19: took lightly. But with everything going on, I really wanted
- 1:23:23Speaker 19: to feel like I could protect myself. I hadn't thought
- 1:23:26Speaker 19: about the danger of an unlocked gun in my own home, too.
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: Mia, where are your napkins?
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: Not that drawer.
- 1:23:34Speaker 27: Unless anyone needs a gun.
- 1:23:38Speaker 19: Now, I always lock my gun to keep everyone safe.
- 1:23:41Speaker 19: Visit nfamilyfire.org to learn how to store your guns more securely.
- 1:23:45Speaker 25: Brought to you by Brady and the Ad Council.
- 1:23:47Speaker 22: I'm a pretty great multitasker. I can wash dishes and
- 1:23:51Speaker 22: do laundry. I can roller skate while walking my dog.
- 1:23:55Speaker 22: I can even order lunch while doing my homework. But
- 1:23:58Speaker 22: I can't use my phone while driving. A distracted driver
- 1:24:02Speaker 22: is one of the leading causes of death in the
- 1:24:03Speaker 22: United States. So when it comes to driving, please, don't
- 1:24:06Speaker 22: be a multitasker.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: Don't drive distracted.
- 1:24:09Speaker 5: A message brought to you by the National Highway Traffic
- 1:24:12Speaker 5: Safety Administration, Project Yellow Light, and the Ad Council.
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: All right, son. Time to put out this campfire. Dad,
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: we learned about this in school. Oh, did you now?
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: What's first?
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: Smokey Bear said to.
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: First, drown it with a bucket of water. Then stir
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: it with a shovel.
- 1:24:29Speaker 12: Wow.
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: You sound just like him. Then he said... If it's
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: still warm, then do it again. Where can I learn
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: all this?
- 1:24:37Speaker 20: It's all on SmokeyBear.com with other wildfire prevention tips.
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: Because only you can prevent wildfires.
- 1:24:44Speaker 28: Brought to you by the USDA Forest Service, your state forester,
- 1:24:46Speaker 28: and the Ad Council. And now, back to the Sports Jock,
- 1:24:57Speaker 28: Wayne Gandy.
- 1:25:00Speaker 6: Players Lounge. You have been given full access to the
- 1:25:06Speaker 6: Players Lounge on the Sports Jock Show with Wayne Gandy.
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Sports Talk Show.
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: I'm the Sports Talk Wayne Candy.
- 1:25:19Speaker 7: The Rams losing late to the Broncos in a game
- 1:25:21Speaker 7: that you just felt like in the Rams.
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: It's very interesting.
- 1:25:25Speaker 25: The Rams and the Chargers.
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: We'll talk about the Chargers as well. The Chargers are 0-3.
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: The Rams are one and two. So both teams, if
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: the predictions that everybody wants, because the Super Bowl is
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: in LA with the Chargers and the AFC, the Rams
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: and NFC, it was just a dream that everybody wants
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: to see both home teams have to play each other
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: in the Super Bowl. Well, not getting off to.
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: The right start or the chargers, the Rams at least
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: can tell you that there are two major stars outside
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: of Matt Stafford, outside of B hop and outside of Donald.
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: They have hope when you bring back miles Garrett and
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: Puka Nakua. So you imagine they can get those two
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: people and everybody else is healthy. They could go and
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: win 10 games out of the last 14 when you
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: add those two pieces. The Chargers at 0-3, I have
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: no clue. Comanche Greg asked me what was more surprising,
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: the Raiders being 3-0 or the Chargers being 0-3. The
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: Chargers being 0-3 is more surprising because a lot of
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: people had, okay, they're going to put it together this
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: year behind Justin Herbert, and they're going to end up
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: in the Super Bowl, and they're 0-3. And they actually
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: have their personnel. They don't have that card that the
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: Rams could put on. Oh, man, we're missing our top receiver.
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: Even as good as Hopkins is playing.
- 1:27:25Speaker 14: Right.
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: Adams. Devontae Adams is playing. You add Puka, and it
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: seems like it's even more explosive offense. And same on defense.
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: Right now, even with him being back, Aaron Donald, a
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: rounding in the shape. Trust me, trying to shake off
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: a whole year of being out. But it's easier to
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: double team him when Myles Garrett is not on the field. So,
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: but I'd be more surprised. I'm more surprised that the
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: Chargers are 0-3 and the Raiders are being 3-0. Go ahead.
- 1:28:00Speaker 4: A lot of our loyal online listeners are still on
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: the celebrity crush.
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: Okay, okay. Jarrett.
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: Our Raiders fan wanted us to know that Vanity was
- 1:28:10Speaker 4: born in 1959. Exclamation point. And he wasn't born until 1972. Oh, okay, okay. So,
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: you know, he liked girls.
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: Okay, okay.
- 1:28:20Speaker 4: He wanted us to know that. It wasn't a late
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: bloomer thing. It wasn't a late bloomer thing. Miss Tina
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: Taylor wanted us to know Billy Dee Williams.
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: Billy Dee.
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: It works every time.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: Billy Dee.
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: Had them all. Coke 45.
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: Billy Dee had them all. Had them all ready.
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: Generational.
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: From grandma down to the daughter. They was all like
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: Billy Dee. Malibu to Haines City. Everybody was a Billy
- 1:28:45Speaker 4: Dee fan.
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: Was a Billy Dee.
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: Was a Billy Dee fan.
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: When you can sell people the Coke 45, and I
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: don't even drink it.
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: Beer. It's a nine.
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: But I know people used to be afraid of the Coke.
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: The Coke really would take you there. I was about
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: to say, anytime you would drink a Coke 45 and
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: then go back and get another one because Billy Dee
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: was like, it worked every time. You'd be like, Billy,
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: I know better, but you're so smooth with it. I'm
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: going to go get kicked in my head by the Coke.
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: And then Uncle Charlie say, Lordy, my 10th grade English teacher, man,
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: she was hot.
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: I was never late for class. Okay, okay, okay.
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: I guess they didn't all have to be celebrities. No,
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: teachers used to be that. Yeah, teachers used to be inspirational.
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: You see that now with all of them getting arrested.
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: Oh, man.
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: Oh, we don't need to go into that. Oh, too soon.
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: That's too soon.
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: No, you see all the ladies getting arrested.
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: And it's always the ladies, too.
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: Y'all see the ladies now. Yeah, yeah, we see them.
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: A lot of them, too.
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: A lot of them, like handcuffs.
- 1:29:43Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: Three or four people.
- 1:29:45Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: One lady had a whole sleepover. Had a whole sleepover
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: with just male students. I mean, they were playing games.
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: That's what you called it? They were playing Twister. They
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: broke out. They broke out. Costumes. Red light, green light. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: It was a whole thing. Red light.
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: It was a whole thing. Prosecutors wasn't that tickled, but.
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: You know. That school board, either.
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: No, they wasn't.
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: But all them students, they all got sued. Okay, so
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: we got Billy Dee. Yeah, Vanity. Everybody used to love him.
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: 10th grade teacher. Okay, Vanity was born in 59.
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: 59.
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: Who knew?
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: So he's trying to make sure we know her age.
- 1:30:23Speaker 14: So he's trying to calculate he's like 11 or 12
- 1:30:26Speaker 14: when he was possibly liking her.
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: That would make her 67. Seven years. Now. She was alive. So, okay.
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: So she would have been in that age. I just...
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: I always get her and Apollonia confused. Because they the
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: same person. Because it seemed like they were the same person. Well,
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: who was the girl, the young lady that was married
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: to L.A. Reid then? Was she not Pebbles? That was Pebbles.
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: So that's all three of them.
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: You get them confused because both Pebbles, whose real name
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: was Perry, and Vanity, who I forget what her real
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: name was. Denise.
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: Denise both went into the ministry. The ministry, that is correct.
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: But the Rams Raiders, excuse me, the Rams and the
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: Chargers off to a slow start. The Super Bowl is February.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: I want to say it's on Valentine's Day next year.
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: Plan accordingly, guys.
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: So, excuse me.
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: Plan accordingly.
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: Don't plan at all. What, plan accordingly for what? I
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: don't know why in 2027, which that's the next Valentine's Day,
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: the male race. is still giving into the constructs of Valentine's.
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: You can start a newsletter or something.
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: I don't know why. With this kind of information. Y'all
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: giving into the constructs of that. You know. Y'all want
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: to throw every other holiday and tell Christopher Columbus he
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: can't have his day and he can't do this. Why
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: y'all have it?
- 1:31:59Speaker 14: No, it's to make the women feel good. Extra love
- 1:32:02Speaker 14: day is he didn't discover America. He didn't even get
- 1:32:05Speaker 14: to America.
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: We supposed to be submissive.
- 1:32:09Speaker 4: I call Valentine's Day extra love day. So I'm supposed
- 1:32:12Speaker 4: to love you more than I love anything else. 364
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: days of the year.
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: At least 1%.
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: But on this day, I got to love you more
- 1:32:19Speaker 4: than that.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: At least 1% more.
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: Jacksonville beating up on the Patriots yesterday, 35-6. When you
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: look at Minnesota going down to Tampa, Tampa is 0-3.
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: Gabe Baker may feel that big deal, but Mike Evans
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: moved on to the 49ers. The 49ers, who won yesterday
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: against the Cardinals, who The Cardinals is similar to the Saints.
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: Have been very competitive. They're one and two, but they
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: have been like, okay, the Cardinals might pull this off.
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: Taking teams deep, like two, three minutes from losing this
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: game behind Jacoby Brissett out there. Marvin Harris and juniors
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: still having a slow start. Hasn't kind of found his
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: way as the top receiver for them, but The 49ers,
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: are the 49ers cursed? They keep somebody hurt.
- 1:33:14Speaker 13: Some people blaming that substation next to the practice field.
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: If they could keep their teams, because right now Nick
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: Bosa is out.
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: He's out.
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: Yesterday, Mike Evans had to leave. Trent Williams, probably the
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: best tackler in the league, got hurt. They find ways
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: to continue to win, but it's like they never hit
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: the field.
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: 100% personnel. 100% personnel. But when you look at their personnel,
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: it's all.
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: top-tier integral cogs in the wheel.
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: So they get used a lot.
- 1:33:50Speaker 4: Like if you've got a piece of machinery that's getting
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: used every hour on the hour every day, at some
- 1:33:56Speaker 4: point it's going to need some maintenance. And that's how
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: I look at San Francisco. Everybody they got on the squad,
- 1:34:02Speaker 4: they got a playful. Every series of downs, everybody going
- 1:34:06Speaker 4: to get a look. And after a while, man, come on, bro,
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: bring me a mask and let me sit on the.
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: Sidelines for a couple minutes. They just never hit it.
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: No, they never can be 100% healthy.
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: The 22 people they imagine hitting the field.
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: At once rarely hits the field.
- 1:34:23Speaker 4: And if they are, right, I was about to say,
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: if it is, it's only for about a week, week
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: and a half.
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: And then it's right back. So any game we miss,
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: the Cowboys. Down in Rio with the Ravens. Ravens, good
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: play there by Zay Flowers going up the elevator to
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: catch that ball for Lamar Jackson, who wasn't keyed in yesterday,
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: but doing enough. And I like this year's Lamar Jackson.
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: He seems to have stepped into a little authoritative feel.
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: There's something different about how he, like he has decided
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: that enough is enough. Enough is enough of, you know,
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: just knocking on the door. I'm getting to 30, that 420.
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: 4-2 is now 4-4. Right. Like when I used to
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: take off.
- 1:35:18Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: Nobody caught me. Now people are catching me. So if
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: I'm going to win this thing, I need to get
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: to winning the Super Bowl chip. If I'm going to
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: win it, I need to start getting on the path
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: to winning it. And that's kind of when I see him,
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: his body language says that a little more. Like maybe,
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: you know, not that passive.
- 1:35:41Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: Yes, not that passive. I got time. Let me twiddle
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: with my braids.
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: Right, right.
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: But more of there's a mission that I need to complete.
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 1:35:53Speaker 4: Last night I saw it most obvious in that last
- 1:35:57Speaker 4: series of plays when everybody thought it was over and
- 1:36:01Speaker 4: Dallas came down and scored to tie the game up.
- 1:36:07Speaker 4: And they thought it was going to go into overtime.
- 1:36:09Speaker 4: And he drove the ball down the field. and had
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: the presence of mind to call the timeout. And there was,
- 1:36:17Speaker 4: in just the previous series of plays, a set of
- 1:36:22Speaker 4: downs where Dak looked confused on the goal line. Like
- 1:36:26Speaker 4: he wasn't sure what to do. Like they didn't have
- 1:36:29Speaker 4: a set game plan. And the preparation was the difference
- 1:36:34Speaker 4: between the win and the loss. Lamar had looked like
- 1:36:38Speaker 4: he had planned Once we get in position, I'm calling
- 1:36:40Speaker 4: the timeout. And they had to go back and add
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: that second, and that allowed them to win.
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: Yeah, great game between Dallas and Baltimore. I watched these
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: international games, and the players looked like it's something they
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: would vote against if they had to.
- 1:37:01Speaker 13: Yeah, it would seem like the Rio was not so
- 1:37:03Speaker 13: bad because it's still in the Eastern time zone, but.
- 1:37:09Speaker 4: Still, like, what is this for? I don't know if
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: you've ever had the experience of being out just for
- 1:37:20Speaker 4: the sake of being out and coming upon an event
- 1:37:24Speaker 4: and having no idea what the event is about and
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: not really being connected to any of the event's purpose,
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: but enjoying yourself at this event.
- 1:37:33Speaker 3: Like, I done walked up on the.
- 1:37:36Speaker 4: The Seashell Festival. And it's like, oh, this seemed pretty cool.
- 1:37:40Speaker 4: And for an hour or two, I'm enjoying the Seashell Festival.
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: That's what it seems like when they play outside the country.
- 1:37:47Speaker 4: Folks just walking by and like, oh, look, they got
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: a bunch of lights over here.
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: Let's go see what they're doing. Yeah, the spectacle is
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: in town when they're playing. We'll be back. More with
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: the Sports Talk Show right after this.
- 1:37:57Speaker 3: Then blow it all in magic now.
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: Don't go away. More of the Sports Jock Show with

- 1:38:11Speaker 2: When I'm on the field and feeling the pressure, I
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: usually just take.
- 1:38:16Speaker 6: A deep breath.
- 1:38:20Speaker 3: Is coming up next.
- 1:38:22Speaker 29: Everyone needs to take care of their mental health, even

- 1:38:27Speaker 2: When I'm on the field and feeling the pressure, I

- 1:38:31Speaker 2: and seeing what's in front of me, everything just slows down.
- 1:38:34Speaker 3: It just makes me feel great before I run the play.
- 1:38:37Speaker 29: Just like Bijan, we all need a strong mental game

- 1:40:00Speaker 2: Wayne Gandy. It's Wayne Gandy.
- 1:40:11Speaker 6: It's Wayne Gandy.
- 1:40:19Speaker 21: Welcome back to the Sports Talk Show.
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: I'm the Sports Talk Wayne. Candy College football is going
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: as well. I know we spent a lot of time
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: on the NFL, but some interesting situations. A couple of
- 1:40:41Speaker 2: suspensions for the big hit. The USC player being suspended
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: for the hit on the Oregon player. he got ejected.
- 1:40:49Speaker 2: I thought that was what the whole ejection thing was about.
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: I don't understand when we started doing more than the ejection.
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: Public outcry. Public outcry.
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: But I got the ejection, though.
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: I know. But the public was not satisfied with that.
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: We're still in our feelings, so we got to do
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: something to make you feel better about.
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: The brutal sport that football is.
- 1:41:17Speaker 4: I saw the hit, and I still am conflicted at
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: how a defensive player who's moving at full speed towards
- 1:41:27Speaker 4: a quarterback that's moving at full speed trying to get
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: a first down is supposed to decipher when this man
- 1:41:34Speaker 4: thinks to himself, now would be a great time to
- 1:41:38Speaker 4: go down. I don't know when you getting ready to
- 1:41:41Speaker 4: go down. By the time you getting ready to go down,
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: I'm in my motion of trying to tackle you. And
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: here I'm coming to tackle you and you go, I
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: don't want to be hit. And you start going down
- 1:41:52Speaker 4: and inertia and all of those forces come together and
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: timing makes it where I hit you higher than I
- 1:41:59Speaker 4: had planned to hit you.
- 1:42:00Speaker 14: I think they should be something as far as like,
- 1:42:04Speaker 14: as you stated, All of a sudden, I'm running real hard,
- 1:42:07Speaker 14: but I see you.
- 1:42:08Speaker 3: I know I got that safety valve. I can just
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: go down.
- 1:42:11Speaker 2: It used to.
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: Just be called football.
- 1:42:13Speaker 14: They need to relook at it as far as, like,
- 1:42:15Speaker 14: if you're continuing to run at some point, you're still
- 1:42:19Speaker 14: in football motion.
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: No, he was sliding.
- 1:42:22Speaker 3: He was in the midst of sliding. Okay.
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but he ran into that slide. We're talking about
- 1:42:27Speaker 2: Dante Moore of Oregon. He ran into that slide full speed. Yeah.
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: That's the thing. He wasn't running full speed and then
- 1:42:38Speaker 2: slowed down to give me an indication that he was
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: about to slide. He was running real fast and then
- 1:42:44Speaker 2: dropped into it, and that's when he got hit by
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: Desmond Stevens II. But in college, it's an ejection. So
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: he got ejected in the first half. He has to
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: sit out the rest of the game. I thought that
- 1:42:59Speaker 2: was enough. I thought we was good. Because that's– He
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: didn't play the second half. He didn't get to play
- 1:43:04Speaker 2: the second half.
- 1:43:05Speaker 4: But his coach, the opposing coach, came out with some–
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: The school made this decision.
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I know the school made the decision, and that's
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: the thing that kind of is confusing. Yeah. That you
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: went that far for an on-the-field type activity.
- 1:43:24Speaker 3: It's public outcry.
- 1:43:27Speaker 14: So if they start outcrying for– Finding the players along
- 1:43:31Speaker 14: with that, is that next?
- 1:43:35Speaker 4: Let's sit back and see. I guarantee everything else makes
- 1:43:40Speaker 4: it prone.
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: Do you think that while it was at the Coliseum,
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: it was a home game for USC, that Stevens celebrated
- 1:43:47Speaker 2: after the hit?
- 1:43:49Speaker 13: Do you think that may be why they– they called
- 1:43:53Speaker 13: for or why they made the suspension call. Well, think
- 1:43:55Speaker 13: about this, and Sports Jock has spoken about this before.
- 1:44:00Speaker 13: I think it's dubious that you would put these kids
- 1:44:03Speaker 13: under these helmets and put them out there, and before
- 1:44:06Speaker 13: they ran out, you tell them your job is to
- 1:44:09Speaker 13: annihilate your opponent. You get out there and you obliterate
- 1:44:13Speaker 13: that dude. You do all kind of graphics and practice
- 1:44:16Speaker 13: on how when you get your hand on him, you
- 1:44:19Speaker 13: make him know.
- 1:44:20Speaker 2: You were there.
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: And then I do exactly what you asked me to do.
- 1:44:26Speaker 4: And now I can't celebrate that. Well, I did it
- 1:44:30Speaker 4: by the textbook. I painted by the numbers. Well, to
- 1:44:35Speaker 4: Greg's point, that game was West Coast time. It's a
- 1:44:39Speaker 4: later game on in the day.
- 1:44:41Speaker 14: And not saying officials weren't watching prior games during the
- 1:44:44Speaker 14: day because there was a lot of flags for celebration
- 1:44:47Speaker 14: things going on throughout college football all day. The Texas game,
- 1:44:50Speaker 14: they had like three– things with celebrations that was not.
- 1:44:54Speaker 14: So you think that may have made the officials a
- 1:44:58Speaker 14: little sensitive to be more, don't let us get caught
- 1:45:01Speaker 14: up on ESPN with these celebrations or acts.
- 1:45:04Speaker 2: Well, when the other guy is laying there.
- 1:45:06Speaker 13: He was called for targeting and ejected. But the suspension,
- 1:45:11Speaker 13: I think the suspension came from he celebrated the hit.
- 1:45:15Speaker 14: Yeah, and that's what I'm saying now that the school
- 1:45:18Speaker 14: and other people are watching.
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: Is this the first hit he's ever celebrated?
- 1:45:23Speaker 3: That's a good question there now.
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: Or is he one of those guys that he does
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: his celebration move after every hit, every interception? Everybody get
- 1:45:31Speaker 2: an interception, run to the end zone, find the camera,
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: and start doing their dance.
- 1:45:34Speaker 13: But when he's already been called for targeting and ejected
- 1:45:39Speaker 13: from the game and Dante Moore is we don't know
- 1:45:42Speaker 13: if he's going to get up or not.
- 1:45:43Speaker 2: Oh, that's not my problem.
- 1:45:45Speaker 3: I did what I was supposed to do. That's what
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: y'all want me here to do.
- 1:45:49Speaker 13: I didn't, you know, well, Lincoln Riley said he, he
- 1:45:52Speaker 13: apparently he didn't like, and that, I mean, this, this, the,
- 1:45:55Speaker 13: the school or the, the team made that, that, that,
- 1:45:58Speaker 13: that hit used to be, that might be part of what, that's.
- 1:46:03Speaker 4: The hit that they are suspending him for. And that
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: he got ejected from the game for used to be
- 1:46:10Speaker 4: one of the hits that they would lead sports illustrated
- 1:46:14Speaker 4: hardest hits edition video with.
- 1:46:17Speaker 2: Um, Always trying to hit you with enough force to
- 1:46:21Speaker 2: break your will and make you question, do you want
- 1:46:24Speaker 2: to do this? I'm always trying to catch you in
- 1:46:27Speaker 2: a situation. I want to hit you so hard. I
- 1:46:30Speaker 2: don't want to injure you. I don't mind knocking you
- 1:46:34Speaker 2: out the game. I do not want to injure you.
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: I don't want to injure your career. I don't want
- 1:46:38Speaker 2: to paralyze you. But I do want to hit you
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: so hard that you question, is this worth it? that
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: the next time you see me just run by you,
- 1:46:51Speaker 2: you instantly get PTSD. That's why they call it alligator arms.
- 1:46:59Speaker 2: The linebacker's supposed to hit you so hard that now, yeah,
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: that might've put me in his range. So I'm going
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: to pull them hands back. I'm only going to put
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: them out here like this. I ain't going to do that.
- 1:47:11Speaker 2: That might get me hospitalized. So I'm going to do
- 1:47:14Speaker 2: like this. That's football. You at home on your 96
- 1:47:22Speaker 2: inch with your Skinny Pop and your Diet Pepsi.
- 1:47:29Speaker 4: You just want it to be something else. That was football.
- 1:47:35Speaker 4: You want football light. You want it just like the
- 1:47:38Speaker 4: Skinny Pop and the Pepsi.
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I want the same cigarette.
- 1:47:42Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: You want the half the menthol zero tar cigarette, and
- 1:47:47Speaker 4: sometimes smoking just smoking.
- 1:47:50Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: I want to hit you like that, and you actually
- 1:47:53Speaker 2: get up. That's what he really wants.
- 1:47:58Speaker 10: Right.
- 1:47:59Speaker 2: I want you to get back up, but I do
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: want to hit you that hard. It's just that most
- 1:48:04Speaker 2: likely if I hit you that hard, you won't get
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: back up. But I want to hit you and make
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: you question– Life's decisions. I don't want to do this
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: no more.
- 1:48:17Speaker 3: That happens.
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: Tony Banks throws an interception in Philadelphia. I cover out.
- 1:48:25Speaker 2: The cornerback catches it. I'm going to cut him off.
- 1:48:28Speaker 2: Little did I know that the de-tackle was following me
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: as I went to try to make the tackle on
- 1:48:34Speaker 2: the interception. The de-tackle de-cleaks me. Knocked me up under
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: the Philadelphia cheerleaders about 10 yards from the bench. He
- 1:48:44Speaker 2: twists both my ankles. He hit me in the chest
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: and twist my ankles. I was laying underneath the cheerleaders thinking, man,
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: this dude has messed me up. I'm so glad this bench.
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: It's right over here.
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: Because, boy.
- 1:49:04Speaker 3: I'm going to crawl to it.
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: He going to mess me up right now. That's how
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: you want to catch somebody. Even if it's just a brief, like, whew. Man,
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: I don't want to get that no more. And you
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: know what I stopped doing on interception? Trying to catch
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: the ball carry.
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: Don't be catching me. I checked my surroundings first.
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: If he run in my space, I might eat him.
- 1:49:28Speaker 2: We'll be back with more of the Sports.
- 1:49:30Speaker 7: Talk Show right after this.
- 1:49:42Speaker 6: Don't go away.
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: More of the Sports Talk Show with Wayne Gamby is
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: coming up next.
- 1:49:49Speaker 15: When I smoke weed, I get lost in the music.
- 1:49:52Speaker 15: I had to isolate each instrument. The rhythmic bass, the
- 1:49:56Speaker 15: harmonies on the piano, the sticky melody.
- 1:50:03Speaker 18: Hey, careful, babe. There's someone crossing the street.
- 1:50:06Speaker 15: Sorry, I didn't see him there.
- 1:50:08Speaker 2: If you feel different, you drive different.
- 1:50:11Speaker 3: Don't drive high. It's dangerous and illegal everywhere. A message
- 1:50:15Speaker 3: from NHTSA and the Ad Council.
- 1:50:18Speaker 23: Nobody had to tell your grandparents not to drive while
- 1:50:21Speaker 23: using their typewriters. Why should it be any different for
- 1:50:25Speaker 23: us kids and our cell phones? Distracted driving was the
- 1:50:28Speaker 23: cause of more than 3,000 deaths in 2022.
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: Come on, we're smarter than this.
- 1:50:34Speaker 23: Let's put down the phones and focus on the roads.
- 1:50:37Speaker 23: Drive safe, everybody.
- 1:50:40Speaker 3: Don't drive distracted.
- 1:50:41Speaker 26: A message brought to you by the National Highway Traffic
- 1:50:43Speaker 26: Safety Administration, Project Yellow Light, and the Ad Council.
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: And now, back to the Sports Jock, Wayne Gandy.
- 1:50:52Speaker 11: Now, it's time for the scoreboard, where we put a
- 1:50:58Speaker 11: spin on life and sports, and how they intermingle.
- 1:51:03Speaker 6: On the Sports Jock Show, with Wayne Gandy.
- 1:51:07Speaker 25: Trey.
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: Trey.
- 1:51:09Speaker 26: Yeah.
- 1:51:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:51:10Speaker 18: Oh.
- 1:51:20Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Sports Talk Show. I'm the Sports
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: Talk Wayne Candy. We were talking about the issue with
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: the quarterback for Oregon, Dante Moore, getting knocked out. One thing,
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: and to help with this, I've always felt like just
- 1:51:34Speaker 2: as much as the defenders have to be on alert,
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: they need to put more pressure on the quarterbacks, on
- 1:51:43Speaker 2: their management of their slide, their management of them going
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: out of bounds. They seem to steal, and this is
- 1:51:54Speaker 2: where the part of the bad producer comes in with
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: that whole Vegas thing for me. They want to allow
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: the quarterback to act however he wants, and all the
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: onus of how this turns out starts being on the defender.
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: You need to get down. You're trying to squeeze every
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: yard out of it, but you could have got down
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: three yards sooner. but you was going to press your
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: luck and then put it on the defender. You're going
- 1:52:26Speaker 2: over there, either go out of bounds or get hit.
- 1:52:30Speaker 2: But all that stuttering goal and I'm going to stick
- 1:52:34Speaker 2: the ball and try to get extra and then you
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: mad that that safety on ran 25 yards and has decided,
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: going to learn today.
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: Oh, because I ran 25 yards.
- 1:52:46Speaker 4: You're going to get these last 13 feet. You're going
- 1:52:49Speaker 4: to get these last 13 feet. Because you could have
- 1:52:51Speaker 4: got out of bounds. Yeah, a long time ago. I
- 1:52:54Speaker 4: done ran 25 yards.
- 1:52:55Speaker 2: And I think that's why even on the pro level,
- 1:52:59Speaker 2: and I think college as well, they started saying where
- 1:53:02Speaker 2: the slide starts, not where you end up, because the
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: quarterbacks were waiting. And that's the only thing. He was right.
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: That was targeting. He was ejected. There was nothing wrong
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: with that part. The part that everybody skipped over was
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: that Dante Moore, the Oregon quarterback, was pushing to get
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: every yard and then decided to go down last second.
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: It's not like he was sliding for like two yards
- 1:53:29Speaker 2: and then he dove down on him. It was bang, bang.
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: And to me, quarterbacks need to be more in control
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: that you saw this defender coming. Why didn't you give
- 1:53:42Speaker 2: up a little?
- 1:53:43Speaker 4: And now to me, some of that almost seems like
- 1:53:47Speaker 4: baiting the defender.
- 1:53:49Speaker 21: True.
- 1:53:49Speaker 4: You know this man ain't going to be able to stop,
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: and you know you should be going down right about now.
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: But I'm going to tiptoe.
- 1:54:00Speaker 4: Remember when the criticism about how officials let people handle
- 1:54:05Speaker 4: quarterbacks like Cam Newton and Lamar Jackson was– at the
- 1:54:10Speaker 4: forefront of people's minds. And the defenders were saying, but
- 1:54:13Speaker 4: this dude will get to the sidelines and look like
- 1:54:16Speaker 4: he going to step out of bounds and then stiff
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: arm you out of bounds and run for a touchdown.
- 1:54:22Speaker 4: So we got to handle him like he's always in
- 1:54:25Speaker 4: the field of play.
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: You have to commit to what it is you're doing.
- 1:54:29Speaker 2: And it's just part of it. To me, they don't
- 1:54:31Speaker 2: put a lot of pressure on quarterbacks to make that
- 1:54:36Speaker 2: decision sooner. They put everything on the defensive. Like they
- 1:54:43Speaker 2: changed with the James Harden sweep through. You know, did
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: they stop calling that so much? Kevin Durant did that too.
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: I'm playing defense, and you're the one who's swinging through
- 1:54:53Speaker 2: my arm. But they've changed that over the last two years.
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: Like we're not going to give you that call. If
- 1:54:59Speaker 2: he reaches in there and hits your arm, we're going
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: to call it. But if you're just going to take
- 1:55:03Speaker 2: the ball and swing it through– And then say, I
- 1:55:07Speaker 2: filed you, that's no longer a file. To me, it's
- 1:55:09Speaker 2: the same thing. A little onus of your protection is on, like,
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: what's the old famous quote? Protect yourself at all times.
- 1:55:15Speaker 2: At all times. You see me coming. And that's part
- 1:55:19Speaker 2: of the sport.
- 1:55:20Speaker 4: You know that part of the sport is that I'm
- 1:55:22Speaker 4: going to be trying to hit you.
- 1:55:25Speaker 3: So that's just the officials.
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: They're going to have to.
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: Look back at that.
- 1:55:28Speaker 13: The most that they've done is, you remember when Kenny
- 1:55:31Speaker 13: Pickett was at Pitt in a game, he, like, faked
- 1:55:34Speaker 13: like he was going to slide. and he didn't, and
- 1:55:37Speaker 13: then he ran for a touchdown. That's the most they've
- 1:55:39Speaker 13: done is like, okay, you can't fake slide. If it
- 1:55:41Speaker 13: looks like you're going to slide, that's what we're going
- 1:55:42Speaker 13: to call a dead.
- 1:55:43Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:55:43Speaker 2: President Trump having Air Force One fly over the Texas-Tennessee game,
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: that had to be a cool moment for that size
- 1:55:53Speaker 2: of a jet to fly over a state.
- 1:55:56Speaker 3: Saw the video. Saw the video. Like that.
- 1:55:57Speaker 2: You usually get the jets, two or three of them,
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: maybe four, or some Apache helicopters, but to have A-1s.
- 1:56:06Speaker 2: It was probably a cool moment on the field in
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: that situation. I just remember watching the beginning of that game.
- 1:56:14Speaker 2: I'm like, well, where'd they get that big old plane from?
- 1:56:16Speaker 2: Because they usually don't fly the jumbo jets over the stadium.
- 1:56:21Speaker 2: It's usually like three jets, real jets, three or four
- 1:56:25Speaker 2: fighter jets or something. some Apache helicopters or something like that.
- 1:56:30Speaker 2: You don't usually get one large. But for it to
- 1:56:32Speaker 2: be A1, that was cool in that Tennessee-Texas game, game
- 1:56:37Speaker 2: which Texas won, Georgia blowing the doors off of everybody.
- 1:56:41Speaker 2: I do know we got this one story, Babduser and
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: Comanche Greg with Mississippi Valley State, 16 of their games
- 1:56:50Speaker 2: on the road to start the season.
- 1:56:52Speaker 10: Right.
- 1:56:52Speaker 2: They out here NIL money shopping. Going to make a
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: lot of money. playing some Power Four teams. And both
- 1:57:03Speaker 2: of you were interested in that story.
- 1:57:06Speaker 13: Well, I just like that it's going to, the money
- 1:57:09Speaker 13: they would make off of the games is going to
- 1:57:12Speaker 13: fund the entire athletic department.
- 1:57:14Speaker 3: At Mississippi State.
- 1:57:16Speaker 14: And I liked it because of the fact that I'm
- 1:57:18Speaker 14: looking for, excuse me, the Jamila Hills and those that
- 1:57:22Speaker 14: could play about this Because the story came in, my
- 1:57:27Speaker 14: stratosphere was like, oh, look at them having to go
- 1:57:30Speaker 14: and play 16 games on the road. But it's fun
- 1:57:35Speaker 14: in the athletic department because of the Mississippi Valley State.
- 1:57:38Speaker 14: And then I'm waiting on them to come out and
- 1:57:41Speaker 14: complain against Mike Davis. But this is not the first
- 1:57:43Speaker 14: time he has a blueprint. He did it at Texas Southern.
- 1:57:46Speaker 14: This is a way, if you can watch it at HBCU,
- 1:57:49Speaker 14: if you're a basketball coach or you're– Mike being a
- 1:57:53Speaker 14: D1 coach, he understands– They have to write these checks.
- 1:57:56Speaker 3: There's money for you. So he's got a plan. But
- 1:57:59Speaker 3: others don't see it as that.
- 1:58:01Speaker 4: Now, I'm looking at this, and what I'm seeing is Oklahoma, Washington, Oregon,
- 1:58:06Speaker 4: Oregon State, Arkansas, New Mexico, Michigan, New York. Texas, UConn,
- 1:58:11Speaker 4: Mississippi State, Tulane, Ohio State, Texas Tech, and Baylor.
- 1:58:16Speaker 3: You about to make a million.
- 1:58:18Speaker 4: I'm saying, having gone to school in the state of Mississippi,
- 1:58:23Speaker 4: and Being familiar with Mississippi Valley State, I'm surprised that
- 1:58:27Speaker 4: these schools even know who Valley State is.
- 1:58:30Speaker 3: The relationship.
- 1:58:31Speaker 4: Let alone you put them on their schedule to play them.
- 1:58:37Speaker 4: This is a boon for Mississippi Valley State. I can't
- 1:58:41Speaker 4: believe they even got this many top teams on their
- 1:58:45Speaker 4: schedule in one season.
- 1:58:47Speaker 2: And shout out to Mississippi Valley State, AD, the president,
- 1:58:50Speaker 2: and everybody for understanding what it is that you need
- 1:58:53Speaker 2: to do. If you want to get on the successful
- 1:58:56Speaker 2: path of healthy sports, at some point, money has to
- 1:59:00Speaker 2: come in. And since y'all aren't going to sell out
- 1:59:03Speaker 2: the arenas and come like we need you, we need
- 1:59:06Speaker 2: to take a year to get some revenue into our program.
- 1:59:11Speaker 2: And if this is what it takes, unfortunately, sometimes this
- 1:59:14Speaker 2: is what it actually takes. It takes a lot. Even
- 1:59:19Speaker 2: you see it on the pro level. Some teams have
- 1:59:21Speaker 2: to dump. for a year or two to rebuild.
- 1:59:24Speaker 3: To rebuild.
- 1:59:25Speaker 2: I got to get rid of some of these salaries,
- 1:59:28Speaker 2: and hopefully my fan base will be still there in
- 1:59:31Speaker 2: three years.
- 1:59:32Speaker 3: Understanding.
- 1:59:34Speaker 2: But I got to get out of all these salaries
- 1:59:37Speaker 2: to get back in the right direction, build up some
- 1:59:39Speaker 2: draft picks and things like that. All colleges get there.
- 1:59:44Speaker 2: Mississippi Valley State is just raising their hand. How are
- 1:59:47Speaker 2: we going to get? We've done all the GoFundMes and
- 1:59:50Speaker 2: popcorn drives.
- 1:59:52Speaker 3: The popcorn, I was about to say, the popcorn drives.
- 1:59:54Speaker 2: Yeah, all that, all that. And we don't have no money.
- 1:59:57Speaker 2: So how do we get some money? We got to
- 1:59:59Speaker 2: go out and do a couple of things for a year,
- 2:00:01Speaker 2: maybe even two, get that money in, build up an
- 2:00:06Speaker 2: NIL war chest, any kind of thing to try to compete.
- 2:00:11Speaker 2: But we're not going to compete doing it the same
- 2:00:13Speaker 2: old way. saying prayers at night and keeping our fingers crossed.
- 2:00:18Speaker 2: Trying to keep it swag. Yeah, trying to keep it, yeah.
- 2:00:24Speaker 2: And we are in the ocean.
- 2:00:28Speaker 6: The truth is, he will throw your a * *
- 2:00:30Speaker 6: in the ocean.
- 2:00:31Speaker 11: It's time to wrap things up on the Sports Jack
- 2:00:35Speaker 11: Show with Wayne.
- 2:00:53Speaker 21: Three. Three.
- 2:00:58Speaker 4: Three.
- 2:01:01Speaker 2: Three. When you're the sounds of the ocean, it gives
- 2:01:04Speaker 2: the sports shop just a minute to vent. We'd like
- 2:01:06Speaker 2: to thank you for tuning in to today's show. If
- 2:01:08Speaker 2: you miss any of today's show, you can go to
- 2:01:10Speaker 2: Amazon Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Audible, Deezer, iHeartRadio, and Spotify. Here
- 2:01:17Speaker 2: to replay, Big Kenny Comanche, Greg, Bad Producer, Thank you
- 2:01:21Speaker 2: for your contributions today. Tonight, Monday Night Football, the Eagles,
- 2:01:26Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts, taking on the Bears. DeAndre Swift, I guess,
- 2:01:31Speaker 2: is the running back because Caleb Williams is out. But
- 2:01:35Speaker 2: that's tonight, Monday Night Football. Going in the ocean. Not
- 2:01:39Speaker 2: because he was being honest and telling you the truth.
- 2:01:42Speaker 2: It's just I kept picturing somebody passing me the mashed potatoes.
- 2:01:49Speaker 2: And that's BYU quarterback, Bear Bachmeier. BYU, it's 3-0, so
- 2:01:59Speaker 2: they're having a good year so far. But Bear, being honest,
- 2:02:04Speaker 2: was just sharing a little bit of his life, says
- 2:02:07Speaker 2: that him and the fam, mom, dad, and other siblings,
- 2:02:12Speaker 2: sometimes they have dinner.
- 2:02:16Speaker 22: Naked.
- 2:02:19Speaker 2: And I just kept picturing my mom handing me the
- 2:02:23Speaker 2: mashed potato. Naked. Y'all got the imagery. You're working with me.
- 2:02:30Speaker 3: That don't sound like.
- 2:02:32Speaker 2: I'm going to take my food and go to my room.
- 2:02:34Speaker 2: I'm going to go eat up in my room.
- 2:02:38Speaker 4: Sound like the feds knocking. That's what it sound like.
- 2:02:41Speaker 4: I mean, we can do to be the nudist, but.
- 2:02:44Speaker 2: During dinner time, though, I don't really want to see
- 2:02:48Speaker 2: Daddy stand up to hand the biscuits.
- 2:02:50Speaker 3: No, no. With all that going on. Is that a
- 2:02:54Speaker 3: turkey neck?
- 2:02:55Speaker 2: You know how somebody at some point has to get
- 2:02:57Speaker 2: up and reach for something. I don't really want to
- 2:03:00Speaker 2: see all that.
- 2:03:01Speaker 4: With that 74-hour deodorant on.
- 2:03:06Speaker 2: And them dude wipes that the bad producer used. That's just....
- 2:03:11Speaker 3: Those are not at the table. So, Bear, I'm with you.
- 2:03:14Speaker 2: With the honesty and all that, but mashed potatoes and
- 2:03:18Speaker 2: y'all just passing that around naked just didn't work with
- 2:03:21Speaker 2: me there, Bear. And for that, Bear Bachmeier.
- 2:03:25Speaker 3: Walk the plank.
- 2:03:35Speaker 2: I just want to make sure I didn't offend any
- 2:03:37Speaker 2: of y'all. Do y'all do that with y'all parents?
- 2:03:39Speaker 6: No, no.
- 2:03:39Speaker 4: That don't even work for the TV tray. You could
- 2:03:43Speaker 4: be sitting in a recliner. He's already weird. I'm saying
- 2:03:47Speaker 4: you could be sitting in a recliner, butt naked, eating dinner.
- 2:03:51Speaker 2: But, you know.
- 2:03:54Speaker 3: We hope y'all have a.
- 2:03:54Speaker 2: Good afternoon from the Sports Chalk Show. We'll see you
- 2:03:57Speaker 2: later in the week.
- 2:03:59Speaker 15: Peace.
