Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguars fans, welcome in to DuVolte Daily, presented by jing Jack.com and fueled by brass tax coffee right now.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's Thursday, September 10th.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm your host Jordan Delugo and we're talking Jaguars and Browns matchups to watch.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: And some of these are intriguing because of
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: You know, potential question marks with the Jaguars or the Browns.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Some of them are just like, you want to see best on best.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: And there's a lot of intrigue there in my opinion.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm fired up to get into it, fired up to be getting into our first matchups to watch of the 20, 26 regular season for your Jacksonville Jaguars and just fired up that we're here.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I felt football we had some last night.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't the best game ever, but the fourth quarter certainly had some fireworks, some entertainment, second half.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: Rams and 49ers tonight, which will be a big time divisional matchup between two teams that have really been towards the top of the league for a lot of the last half decade or plus.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm fired up for football.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: I absolutely am.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm fired up for Jaguar's football, fired up to be chatten with y'all here.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content here, it's all Jags all the time.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: Please like and subscribe.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: And also hit that high button.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know what's matchup you will be watching most closely in
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm getting it kicked off with the newcomer in Cleveland, Jaredverse, obviously Miles Garrett no longer a Cleveland Brownies plan for the Ramstein we just talked about, but Jaredverse is in town and Jaredverse is a really
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: really good football player.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I mean borderline, great ad russia, one of the best young guys in football.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: He is 25 years old.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: He was a little bit of an older prospect coming in after having played some time at FSU and transferring there from who was it before that?
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: All the new year.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: where did Jared verse play his college ball?
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't matter, actually it does.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: It does, it does, we're gonna get into it.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: Because Jared verse, yeah, it was Albany.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: It was Albany, I was on my piece and cues there.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: So Jared verse last year, he lined up primarily on the defensive right side, offensive left side.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: He racked up a hundred pressures last year, a hundred pressures.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: 64, her, he's 27 quarterback heads, nine sacks.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: He was a game record for the Los Angeles Rams.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: He was a game record the year before that as a rookie.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: So he's a player that even though he's not Miles Garrett, he's not first ballot Hall of Famer.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: He's ascending, he is explosive, he is physical, he has the ability to wreck a game.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, last year against the Jaguars, with the Rams, it's a different defense, different pieces around him.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: But he had seven pressures, a sack, five hurries, he was doing work against the Jaguars, right?
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: Now,
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: instead of having Walker little going up against him on the left side, you have Anton Harrison.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: So that is a really good on good matchup.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Will Jared verse be exclusively on the defensive right side offensive left side, probably not.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'll probably move around a little bit, but probably two thirds to three quarters of his snaps will be on the offensive left side.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: So Anton Harrison, who is switching from right tackle to left tackle, after having played left tackle in college,
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: being more comfortable by his own admission at left tackle.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be doing that for the first time for the Jaguars, first time in his NFL career.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be a big matchup because Jared verse, you know, the Browns have talent up front, like Malik Collins is a good player.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously Mason Graham top five pick and and talk about on the other side, Isaiah McGuire, they've got some decent up there's talent, but Jared verse is the Lynch pin of the Browns defense.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: of the Brown's defensive front.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: So can Anton Harris and handle his business over there and neutralize Jarvis.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: Jarvis is going to get some wins.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to happen.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to get some wins, right?
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: But can Anton Harris and be mostly, I mean, by mostly like.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know, past pro efficiency, 96 plus percent, you know, not allowing more than a couple of two or three pressures by Jared verse, not having a play where he allows and insanely quick win that that's on a on a critical down things of that nature and I have a lot of confidence and ants on Harrison, but you know, Jared versus a really good player in his own right so.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's absolutely a big matchup, and I think Jaguar's offensive line versus Brown's defensive front, that whole thing is a big matchup because Anton Harris has now left tackle.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: Emmanuel Pregnall and I rookie is in that left guard, which he did primarily play left guard during his
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: college career.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's primarily been out left guard for the jag wars during this offseason in training camp.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: So familiarity there, but you're playing against a whole new level of competition in a live game setting and FL game setting for the first time.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: Robert Hainesy obviously still in the middle as your Cleveland switching from left guard to right guard.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: And then whatever is out there right tackle, you don't know if it's called being landed, if it's Walker little.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: I do think the fact that Jared verse primarily lines up on the defensive right side against the offensive left tackle, you'd rather have ants on going against Jared verse than you would walk her little and I have no idea if that was part of the calculus of that move moving ants on over the left side but I do think that's a huge huge match up to watch.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: If the browns are going to have
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: the type of day that really frustrates the Jaguars offense, that frustrates Trevor Lawrence.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think a lot of it is going to be from him dealing with a lot of pressure.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: And the Browns have the potential to be able to apply that pressure.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars also have the potential to be able to give Trevor Lawrence enough time and schematically with Liam Cohen.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: to get the job done at a pretty high level, and even with a good brown second area, which we'll talk about some, I think that if Trevor Lawrence has enough time, which he doesn't need to have all day, but if he has enough time to make plays,
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it matters really what secondary.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: He's going against, right?
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: So Hanson here is some first year adverse prime time match up there.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter, at Cornerback, and Anthony Campanile, secondary and general versus Todd Munkin and this passing offense, there's gonna be plays that are easy for Dishon Watson to execute just based on the offense.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: But especially I think quick game.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: put a little bit of fear into you when you try to run quick game by, you know, getting his hands on a ball jumping or out something of that nature.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's going to play stick.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think he's going to play fairly consistent.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: But can he put the fear in you to be nervous to throw some of those underneath place?
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: Some of those quick hitters.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: And then Campanile with his defense in general, like how much do they go to the man-match coverages?
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: How much do they stick with zone vision?
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: What do they feel like they need to do to slow down Todd Munkin's offense?
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: Which obviously, there's a lot of talent on this Brown's offense, but there's four new offensive linemen, there's two new receivers, Dishon Watson hasn't played since 2024.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: That chess match between Campanile and Munkin and specifically kind of with Travis Hunter and his utilization, his alignment, how does that all look and take shape and, you know, can you get his hands on the football?
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: That would be huge.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: Switching back to the Jaguar's offensive side of the ball, kind of going back and forth here a little bit.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: Parker Washington versus the middle field defenders, I think the Browns have very good, well, they have good linebacker play,
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: They should, based on the talent, they should have good secondary play, based on the talent.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, Mike Routenberg is a new defensive coordinator, so you don't know exactly what you're going to be getting there, but I think Denzel Ward is going to do a good job against whoever he's covering.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think Tyson Campbell will mostly do a good job against who he's covering.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think Parker Washington versus those middle of the field defenders, he gets lined up against the linebacker, a safety, a nickel, right?
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: That I think is
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: is a big time area for the Jaguar's offense to potentially look at in this game because Parker Washington is so good at all three levels.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: Parker Washington is fearless over the middle.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: He is a great hands-catcher.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: He has great body control, right?
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: His ability to adjust to the football, to go snag it out of the air, to come down with the ball and contest to catch situations, and then also to make the first defender miss after he gets the ball.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's the player.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to be watching Big Time for the Jaguars in the receiving game.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you keep an eye on everybody.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be exciting to see B.T.J.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: To go be Myers, Britain's strange drivers, I don't know when he's on offense.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: All these guys, but I think Parker Washington is the one to watch because I think if they cannot really slow down Parker Washington, probably going to be a long day.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: Traybaum Walker versus the entire Brown's offensive line, I think is huge because, you know, we just got done talking with Anthony Campanile and his press conference.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: Travelling Walker can play anywhere from outside linebacker to nose guard in this defense.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going to be moving him all around the defensive front and not only from a pre-snap alignment standpoint, but also working on games up front stunts and different things where he's attacking different gaps for the offensive protection plan and he's got the potential to be a gamemaker.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Hines Allen, yes, versus, versus, you know, a rookie in, uh, Spencer Fano, huge matchup, right?
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: That's fun.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you, you're looking to your chops if you're Josh Hines Allen, but Spencer Fano, he's a good player.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I watched all his pre-season snaps, I wasn't a ton, like 30 something.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: but he looked confident and confident in past bro.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm really looking that Trayvon Walker being that kind of movable chess piece on the defensive line to potentially have a massive game here against the Browns and his primary alignment will be
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: going up against Titus Howard.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Titus Howard and Traybaum Walker have played against each other a lot.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: They've seen each other a lot, but it's not just going to be Titus Howard versus Traybaum.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be Traybaum moving all over the place and the Browns.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: They have four new offensive linemen and Tevin Jenkins plus four new offensive linemen.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: They're talented.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: are they cohesive?
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: Are they, uh, have they developed that chemistry and done a good enough job with the offensive line protection plan?
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: And the rules, um, again, stay Jaguar's defensive front that's going to deploy a lot of different looks.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be something really exciting.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I think to look at and I do want to remind y'all the Jaguars, they're nine point favorites in this game over at my bookie.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, usually when you're talking about 9.9, it's like stay away from that, or 9.8 stay away from that.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: But honestly, I like the Jaguars to cover 9 in this one, and I am putting in some over on my bookie for that 9.9 Jaguars picking them in that one.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: My bookies website, it's easy to use on desktop or mobile.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: They've got all the NFL action and more that you could ever want.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: I told you, you know, I'm taking the jagged there with the nine points.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: I've also personally locked in the jagged warrants to make the playoffs.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're new, you can use my promo code Duval to claim your first bet risk-free up to $500 It's a no-brainer get in before kickoff.

- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: Gambley problem call 100 Gambley or visit 100Gambley.net for free confidential support available 24.7.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: So, more matchups, looking at Harold Fanon.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: versus the Jaguar's defense, I think is a really interesting one.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's traditionally have struggled against tight ends.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Anthony Campanila's defense gives you a little bit more confidence that they can potentially deal with some tight ends that can play.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: And just the fact that you have like Antonio Johnson who can do a lot, Eric Murray, Boya Liu can obviously your nickels and your other corners.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: But Harold Fanon has a player.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody kind of talks about Casey, conception, and the schemeed up looks that Todd Munkin is probably going to get him.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: But I think Harold Fanon can be the recipient of a lot of those types of looks as well.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's a player that the Jaguars are keenly aware of.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: that they are focusing on as someone who is a matchup problem, Anthony Campanile said today, and so he's definitely a player to watch against the Jaguar's defense.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: I've also got Deshawn Wattson versus Deshawn Wattson here.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, is Deshawn Wattson,
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: the player that we saw in Houston is either player that we saw in 2024 when the Brown's beat the Jaguars with Sean Watson at quarterback or is he more of what we've seen for the last three years since he got in Cleveland and obviously missed last year with the Achilles, a player that just doesn't have a lot of confidence, doesn't have a lot of consistency,
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: to Sean Watson versus to Sean Watson is a huge matchup to me, because if he plays competent football, I think the Browns have the coaching on the offensive side of the ball to be competitive.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: Have the talent on the offensive side of the ball to be competitive, but if he plays more like the guy you've seen most of his tenure in Cleveland, well, I don't think that's gonna go well for the Browns.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: Now again, flipping sides, a couple more on the offensive side of the ball here for the Jaguars,
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: Brian Thomas Jr. and Jacobi Myers versus Tyson Campbell.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think Tyson might see some Parker as well.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: So I think when the Jaguars are in 12 personnel, two wide receivers, Parker Washington will be on the field.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_00]: I feel confident about that.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: But when they're in 11, I think Parker will be in the slot more often than not.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: And then you'll be seeing a lot of Brian Thomas Jr. and Jacobi Myers.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: versus Tyson Campbell and Denzel Ward, but it's just going to be interesting for the first time seeing Tyson Campbell on the other side of things and can BTJ and Jacobi Myers get things done against Tyson Campbell.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like Denzel Ward is probably going to play a fairly clean game of football.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: That's his MO is one of the better corners in football, but Tyson Campbell can be a little bit more inconsistent.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: You can
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: At times take advantage of him in man situations, the book on him when he was here was a really good zone vision corner.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: A really good corner when it comes to coming downhill and stopping the run.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: But when you get his back to the football, it was difficult for him to turn and locate.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: It was difficult for him.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: to make the plays he needed to make down the field.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_00]: So how does that all play out?
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like, does BTJ get matched up with Tyson Campbell in situations where the Jaguars want to go down the field on some of these nine routes and posts and things of that nature?
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: And so that is definitely something I'm going to be watching.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: And again, just because like seeing Tyson Campbell, obviously the Jaguars traded Tyson Campbell for Greg Newsome, part of that was to get the salary off the books
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: Part of that was seeing if Greg Newsom was going to be anything for them and then part of that they obviously also I think calculated maybe They could get a compensatory pick and it looks like they're going to for Greg Newsom in the 2027 draft But yeah Tyson Campbell is a player I always liked
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: You always just wanted a little bit more, especially in those man-covered situations from Tyson Campbell, then you got in Jacksonville.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_00]: And finally, I'm going, facial tootin versus the open field tootin last year.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't get on of carries, right?
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: But he played a decent amount as a rookie.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that he was a guy that last year, when you just evaluate what he was as a runner,
- 16:44[SPEAKER_00]: You ran the ball hard.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: He ran with physicality.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: There was a leg churn.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: There was finishing runs.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_00]: There was a good amount of pace and vision.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: I felt like making guys miss in the backfield.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: But when he got into the open field, you didn't see the full skill set that he has.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: You saw it in college at Virginia Tech.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: You've started to see a good bit of that in the Offseason program and training camp for the Jack Wars this year.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: Can he be an electrifying runner that can make people miss in space?
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: He has the ability to do it.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_00]: Can he translate that to the NFL field?
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: Last year when he got in the open field, it just looked a little clunky.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: There was moments you know he would take a get back or like the turf monster would come up and get him or he didn't quite make the decisive electrifying cut that you would expect him to be able to make.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to see him be able to do some of that more in this football game.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: And so again, it's kind of basal tootin versus basal tootin in that regard.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: Basal tootin versus the open field.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars, they want to be an offense that when they run the ball, it keeps them in good down and distance.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: It keeps them on schedule.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: But beyond that, Tutton can do more.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: Tutton has more than that within him.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_00]: He did that last year.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_00]: He definitely was able to keep them on schedule.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: He was a high-success rate runner.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: So was Chris Rodriguez last year for the commanders.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: But I think
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: Breakaway runs, making people miss in the open field, getting to the third level of the defense more often.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be tough to catch them.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_00]: There's an opportunity for a lot of big home run type plays for racial tuton.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: Can that come to fruition?
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's something I'll be watching very closely.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_00]: And that has been our first matchups to watch of the 2026 regular season for your Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that high button.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a great one.
