- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Swedish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 184 — can you believe it? Lucas: I know, it's flown by. And today we're going shopping again, but for something you might need if you love music or podcasts. Luna: Let me guess — headphones? Lucas: Exactly. Headphones. In Swedish: hörlurar. Luna: Hörlurar. That sounds like 'ear lures' — like they lure sound into your ears. Lucas: That's a fun way to remember it. So if you're in a Swedish electronics store, you might say: Jag skulle vilja ha ett par hörlurar. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha ett par hörlurar. That means 'I would like a pair of headphones.' Lucas: Right. Let's break it down: Jag skulle vilja ha — 'I would like to have', ett par — 'a pair', hörlurar — 'headphones'. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha ett par hörlurar. I like that it's very clear — a pair, because they come as two. Lucas: Exactly. Now, if you're looking for wireless ones, you can ask: Har ni dem i trådlösa? Luna: Har ni dem i trådlösa? 'Do you have them in wireless?' Trådlösa — that's wireless. Lucas: Yes. Trådlös means wireless, and trådlösa is the plural form. So if you want wireless headphones, say: Har ni dem i trådlösa? Luna: Har ni dem i trådlösa? Good. And then you might want to know the price. Lucas: Right: Hur mycket kostar de? 'How much do they cost?' Luna: Hur mycket kostar de? Simple. And I'd probably want to try them on, to see if they're comfortable. Lucas: And you can ask: Får jag prova dem? 'May I try them on?' Luna: Får jag prova dem? Prova means 'try' — like try on or test. Lucas: Precisely. And after you try them, you might say: De låter jättebra. 'They sound great.' Luna: De låter jättebra. Låter — that's 'sound', and jättebra — 'great' or 'really good'. I love that jätte- prefix. Lucas: It's very Swedish. Jättebra, jättestor, jättefin — you can add jätte- to almost any adjective to make it 'very'. Luna: So if I decide to buy them, I say: Jag tar dem, tack. 'I'll take them, thanks.' Lucas: Exactly. Let's run through all six phrases once more. Listen and repeat in your head or out loud. Luna: Jag skulle vilja ha ett par hörlurar. Lucas: Har ni dem i trådlösa? Luna: Hur mycket kostar de? Lucas: Får jag prova dem? Luna: De låter jättebra. Lucas: Jag tar dem, tack. Luna: Now let's hear them in a little scene. Lucas, you be the store employee, and I'll be the customer. Lucas: Hej, kan jag hjälpa dig? Luna: Hej! Jag skulle vilja ha ett par hörlurar. Lucas: Självklart. Har ni dem i trådlösa? Luna: Ja, här är ett par trådlösa. Lucas: Hur mycket kostar de? Luna: De kostar 500 kronor. Lucas: Får jag prova dem? Luna: Ja, visst. Lucas: De låter jättebra. Jag tar dem, tack. Luna: Perfect. And now you're ready to buy headphones in Swedish. Lucas: If Fexingo has been helping you make real progress with Swedish, that's amazing.
