- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. Playfak go to roll right, jumpson off into
- 0:07Speaker 1: the right class to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off on
- 0:09Speaker 1: one tackler gets inside the forty down of the thirty
- 0:12Speaker 1: five yard line. Powered by seahawks dot Com map, pump
- 0:16Speaker 1: fakes looking at the goal line, he throws it into
- 0:18Speaker 1: the endshone touchdown Saint Hawks. It's Michael Bumpers with a
- 0:21Speaker 1: diving catch in the end zone. Ten yard touchdown reception
- 0:25Speaker 1: for Bumpus, and the kid out of Washington State has
- 0:28Speaker 1: found himself a place on this team. Now here's your host,
- 0:32Speaker 1: Nasa Chuby. Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk. Unfortunately,
- 0:37Speaker 1: Seahawks fell to the Kansas City Chiefs twenty four to
- 0:40Speaker 1: ten on Christmas Eve. I hope everyone had a nice,
- 0:43Speaker 1: happy holiday season with the family. The Seahawks did not
- 0:46Speaker 1: get the Christmas gift they needed on Saturday, losing to
- 0:49Speaker 1: the Chiefs. Really hard football game, they played, really well,
- 0:52Speaker 1: got some help elsewhere, so the playoff chances are still
- 0:56Speaker 1: very much alive and well. But let's get back into
- 0:58Speaker 1: Let's break down the game happened on Christmas Eve. When
- 1:01Speaker 1: had happened? See what happened at first? What had happened
- 1:07Speaker 1: was we knew this is gonna be tall task man
- 1:11Speaker 1: hand City Chiefs. We've talked about it on the preview.
- 1:13Speaker 1: They are the real deal. They were eleven and three
- 1:15Speaker 1: coming in ballgame. They got Patrick Mahomes for memory Peat,
- 1:18Speaker 1: the legit weapons, Travis Kelcey, Ju Smith Schuster, some dogs
- 1:21Speaker 1: on defense. We knew it was gonna be tough, and honestly,
- 1:25Speaker 1: there's no more victories. We talked about this all the time,
- 1:27Speaker 1: but bum I came out and pressed, I'm not gonna lie,
- 1:30Speaker 1: at least defensively. I walked away more intrigued and confident
- 1:35Speaker 1: and feeling better than I have the last five weeks. Yeah,
- 1:38Speaker 1: for sure, and we'll we'll talk about specifically why right,
- 1:41Speaker 1: there are some numbers that these guys take that are
- 1:43Speaker 1: haven't hitt in a while, and it was a way
- 1:45Speaker 1: they played. It was what they did to one of
- 1:47Speaker 1: the best offenses in all the land. Yeah for us,
- 1:50Speaker 1: We'll take them all. Victory for them, you know what
- 1:52Speaker 1: I'm saying. For them, they got to show up, get
- 1:54Speaker 1: to work and focus on the justice. We both for us.
- 1:57Speaker 1: We can look at the defense and say, all right,
- 1:59Speaker 1: it wasn't fault. You know, they showed up and do
- 2:01Speaker 1: their thing. Yeah. Man, And it was a cold day.
- 2:04Speaker 1: It was cold. We know everyone was dealing with the weather.
- 2:06Speaker 1: The ice storm to hit Seattle. Half the people couldn't
- 2:09Speaker 1: get out to KC. Everyone stuck southwest. Oh my goodness,
- 2:12Speaker 1: all the flight cancelation. Things are not going great there.
- 2:15Speaker 1: That's why you always flight Delta, proud partner at Seattle
- 2:18Speaker 1: Sea High Plug. Anyway, that was that was off cuff.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I didn't mean to do that anyway. Shout outs to Delta.
- 2:23Speaker 1: But things got going right away. The Seahawks, knowing the
- 2:26Speaker 1: challenge they had up, defense was ready starting that game.
- 2:28Speaker 1: It was freezing cold and KC on that first drive
- 2:31Speaker 1: they forced the three and out. We're feeling good, okay,
- 2:33Speaker 1: defense came to play today. Unfortunately, the offense gets the
- 2:36Speaker 1: ball back, could not do anything with that opportunity, goes
- 2:39Speaker 1: three and out. Then on the in two and drive,
- 2:40Speaker 1: Kancity goes down nine plays sixty three yards, ending with
- 2:43Speaker 1: the Kadarius Tony eight yard touchdown on a little touch
- 2:46Speaker 1: fast from Patrick Mahomes, making the score seven to zero.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Then our guy man, one of my favorite interviews so
- 2:52Speaker 1: far this year, Godwin iguay buk took a kick off
- 2:56Speaker 1: back forty eight yards that she's forty yard line, but
- 2:59Speaker 1: the Hawks not take advantage of that. No points. Both
- 3:02Speaker 1: teams would have changed puns for about four possessions and
- 3:06Speaker 1: as the Chiefs will find the end zone on seven play,
- 3:08Speaker 1: fifty three yard drive ending in a Jared McKinnon out
- 3:11Speaker 1: the backfield towards the flat nine yard touchdown that made
- 3:14Speaker 1: the score fourteen to zero. Then the Chiefs would add
- 3:17Speaker 1: a field goal, and the Seahawks with Arson with their
- 3:19Speaker 1: best driver the day they win eleven plays ninety yards
- 3:21Speaker 1: but stalled in the red zone and had to set
- 3:24Speaker 1: a four field goal that made it seventeen to three
- 3:26Speaker 1: going into the half, and you feel like coming out,
- 3:28Speaker 1: all right, the Chiefs are gonna get the football. You
- 3:30Speaker 1: gotta get a stop right here. If you do that,
- 3:32Speaker 1: you got a shot, yeah, man. And it really sucked
- 3:35Speaker 1: at the end of the half two bump because there
- 3:36Speaker 1: was that play a DK that was almost there in
- 3:38Speaker 1: the back of the end zone. Now to be a
- 3:40Speaker 1: huge because you really wanted to get a touchdown to
- 3:42Speaker 1: stay in striking distance. And you're planning team like Kansas City.
- 3:45Speaker 1: You know they can score. Seahawks have been struggling defensively,
- 3:48Speaker 1: so you wanted it to be one score game, you know,
- 3:50Speaker 1: or at least closer going into the half. It wasn't.
- 3:53Speaker 1: It was seventeen to three. Come out in the third quarter, Okay,
- 3:57Speaker 1: feeling good. Maybe we're gonna continue to shut him down.
- 4:00Speaker 1: And the Hawks came out. They held the Chiefs to
- 4:02Speaker 1: zero points, force two punts. They kept this team in
- 4:05Speaker 1: the game. And unfortunately, the Hawks turn the ball over
- 4:09Speaker 1: and downs on back to back possessions after pretty good
- 4:12Speaker 1: drive two of them, and they had to settle for
- 4:14Speaker 1: zero points and bump for me, obviously, I know turnover
- 4:17Speaker 1: on downs is not counting as a turnover. It's not
- 4:19Speaker 1: a pick or a fumble, but it might as well be. Yeah,
- 4:22Speaker 1: it feels like it. I mean, you're giving the ball back,
- 4:25Speaker 1: You're not accomplishing the goal, you know what I'm saying. So, yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 1: it doesn't go down, but it feels like a turnover.
- 4:32Speaker 1: And then things got worse for our guy Geno. Man,
- 4:35Speaker 1: he was intercepted in the end zone. That one hurt
- 4:38Speaker 1: something you're not used to seeing. Just didn't really see
- 4:41Speaker 1: the safety over at the top of the corner underneath
- 4:42Speaker 1: and threw one up, thought he had a guy open.
- 4:44Speaker 1: They made a play and the Chiefs will kind of
- 4:46Speaker 1: put this thing away. Man. They go five plays eighty
- 4:48Speaker 1: yards and he would have Pat Mahomes three yard touchdown
- 4:50Speaker 1: rum And it was nasty too. I can't even handle
- 4:53Speaker 1: a run. He's rolling to the right side, puts his
- 4:55Speaker 1: left hand down, dives in the end zone. I'm hoping
- 4:57Speaker 1: his knee was down or something happened, but that just
- 5:01Speaker 1: was not the case. And that made to score twenty
- 5:05Speaker 1: one to three. Yeah, on that drive, man, Kelsey did
- 5:07Speaker 1: his thing. May He had a twenty yard reception in
- 5:09Speaker 1: the fifty two yard recession. Before that, he only had
- 5:11Speaker 1: about forty one yards. So again my number going to
- 5:14Speaker 1: this game was, Okay, Travis needs to be around seventy
- 5:16Speaker 1: seven yards and maybe one touchdown and you gotta win.
- 5:20Speaker 1: These two big plays were just man, like a punch
- 5:24Speaker 1: to the gut. The thing that I hate about Travis
- 5:26Speaker 1: Kelsey is like you watch him and it looks like
- 5:29Speaker 1: he's running in slow motion. Everything about his movements. It's
- 5:33Speaker 1: not like he's not like a Tony Gonzalez or like
- 5:37Speaker 1: an Antonio Gates or any of those hype of tight ends.
- 5:39Speaker 1: But the man is nasty. He's gonna be a first
- 5:42Speaker 1: ballot Hall of Famer, and it's not close. Seven straight
- 5:44Speaker 1: seasons of a thousand yards. But you just watch him
- 5:46Speaker 1: and he go why is he always so wide open?
- 5:48Speaker 1: And honestly, give credit to the Seahawks secondary and the linebackers.
- 5:52Speaker 1: They held him in check, like you said, until that
- 5:54Speaker 1: final drive. Then he kind of got busy, kind of
- 5:56Speaker 1: skews the stats at the end of the game. The
- 5:58Speaker 1: Seahawks do you get on the board to finish it
- 6:00Speaker 1: in no offense six yard touchdown. Will break that down
- 6:02Speaker 1: here in a little bit. But if you look at
- 6:04Speaker 1: this boss score, Bump, you would think the Seahawks would won.
- 6:08Speaker 1: If you would have told me, Bump Man, Hawks would
- 6:10Speaker 1: out gain the Chiefs three thirty three to two ninety seven.
- 6:12Speaker 1: They would win time in possession thirty five to twenty four.
- 6:15Speaker 1: They would have nineteen first downs, the Chiefs would have fourteen.
- 6:18Speaker 1: They would run seventy three plays, the Chiefs would run
- 6:21Speaker 1: fifty one and they would run for one hundred and
- 6:23Speaker 1: thirty three yards, and the Chiefs would run for seventy seven.
- 6:25Speaker 1: There is no way you would tell me that and
- 6:27Speaker 1: you would say the Seahawks loss, No way, no way. Now,
- 6:31Speaker 1: these all the numbers that we alluded to earlier, Like,
- 6:34Speaker 1: there's some numbers together and they're gonna shock you. You
- 6:36Speaker 1: out gain the best offense in the game, you hold
- 6:40Speaker 1: them to ridiculous amounts of third downs two for fourteen,
- 6:44Speaker 1: I mean a Hawks two for fourteen, He held them
- 6:45Speaker 1: to what three or whatnot. You look at all these numbers,
- 6:48Speaker 1: you say, Okay, the Hawks win this ball game. You
- 6:51Speaker 1: have to watch this game and really kind of understand
- 6:53Speaker 1: exactly what happened. That's it's it's just hardy, but it's
- 6:58Speaker 1: encouraging at the same time, because, like we said, no
- 7:01Speaker 1: more victories, but we'll take this one for them because
- 7:04Speaker 1: they hit a bunch of marks during this game. Just
- 7:07Speaker 1: for the first time, I felt like since Week two,
- 7:09Speaker 1: the offense just wasn't able to get going. Yeah, that
- 7:12Speaker 1: was that was the shocking part about this because you
- 7:15Speaker 1: expect we expected to be the opposite way. I think
- 7:17Speaker 1: I said last week, I think Seas got to score
- 7:19Speaker 1: over thirty points to have a chance of winning this
- 7:20Speaker 1: football game, and they would have been Honestly, they would
- 7:23Speaker 1: have scored on any of those drives early on and
- 7:25Speaker 1: made it one score. They would have had a shot.
- 7:27Speaker 1: They just could not, like you said, get anything going.
- 7:30Speaker 1: A couple of guys did, however, make some plays. Playmakers
- 7:43Speaker 1: Gino Smith so Gino is a staple and playmakers in
- 7:48Speaker 1: this segment all season long, since he's taken over and
- 7:50Speaker 1: started quarterback. He didn't have the game. You kind of
- 7:52Speaker 1: alluded to a bump kind of similar to the Week
- 7:54Speaker 1: two against the forty nine ers. He was twenty five
- 7:56Speaker 1: or forty four, two hundred and fifteen yards, one touchdown
- 7:59Speaker 1: one and you know, you look those numbers, those are underwhelming,
- 8:04Speaker 1: and then you throw in the cold factor, and then
- 8:06Speaker 1: you throw in the number one factor to me, and
- 8:07Speaker 1: that's Tyler Lockett. This offense without Tyler Lockett is hard
- 8:11Speaker 1: and for me, specifically on third down, the Seahawks are
- 8:13Speaker 1: two or fourteen and they've kind of struggled throughout the
- 8:16Speaker 1: season on third down, but most of those conversions were
- 8:19Speaker 1: number was number sixteen. He is just so dynamic. And
- 8:22Speaker 1: we talked about this a little bit during the postgame show. Bump.
- 8:25Speaker 1: As you got some young receivers out there, you have
- 8:27Speaker 1: you have Treadwell. He's been around the league for a while,
- 8:29Speaker 1: but he's playing out there. You know, Penny Hard, Drek Young,
- 8:31Speaker 1: just a different receiving corps with DK Metcalf. I think
- 8:35Speaker 1: that played a role. And Gino Smith not having the
- 8:38Speaker 1: game that he's had previous games. You know, he was
- 8:40Speaker 1: seventy get a seventy four point five QB rating, that's
- 8:43Speaker 1: his lowest of the season. So he made a couple
- 8:45Speaker 1: of throws. He just unfortunately wasn't the game. You would
- 8:47Speaker 1: have liked him to maybe take off and run early
- 8:49Speaker 1: in the game on that third day. Yeah, there was
- 8:51Speaker 1: one big one on third down. Yeah, grass, Yeah, Grass.
- 8:54Speaker 1: He tried to hit a good win down the field
- 8:56Speaker 1: and you know, maybe if it's not a cold day,
- 8:58Speaker 1: he might he might fit that in there. And it's
- 8:59Speaker 1: a big game. I understand why he's looking down the field.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Just wasn't the best day for Gino. A lot of
- 9:05Speaker 1: other factors. I don't feel like I'm making excuses for him,
- 9:07Speaker 1: but I think they're valid. Yeah, No, I'm with you.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Gino didn't have his day, but his off day is
- 9:13Speaker 1: better than a lot of other quarterbacks off days in
- 9:15Speaker 1: the league right now, So we'll take him. We were
- 9:17Speaker 1: still felt like we're in the game all right. Another playmaker.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Ken Walker has been a while. I've been waiting for this.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Twenty six carries one hundred and seven yards, his first
- 9:25Speaker 1: one hundred yard games since Week nine against Arizona. This
- 9:28Speaker 1: young man now is one hundred and ninety seven yards
- 9:30Speaker 1: away from in a thousand yards season. He's also twenty
- 9:35Speaker 1: yards away from passing Thomas Rolls for second place for
- 9:37Speaker 1: the most buy a Rookie Enfranchise issue with eight thirty one.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Nice to see them be stubborn with this and get
- 9:43Speaker 1: him the touches that he needs to get going. It's
- 9:45Speaker 1: almost like the Hawks in the relationship with ken Walker
- 9:48Speaker 1: and they're starting to kind of figure him out. This
- 9:50Speaker 1: is what he needs to get going, This is what
- 9:52Speaker 1: needs to be said to him to get going. He's
- 9:54Speaker 1: a rookie and sometimes his big playability makes you forget
- 9:58Speaker 1: that he's a rookie and he's gonna go through these
- 10:00Speaker 1: ups and downs with rookie off as alignment. So it
- 10:03Speaker 1: was nice to see this pop up right before you
- 10:05Speaker 1: get into the stretch where you can still make the playoffs,
- 10:08Speaker 1: no question about it, and I think Pete talked about
- 10:10Speaker 1: it a little bit on the radio this week and
- 10:11Speaker 1: and his press conference said during halftime, he kind of said, hey,
- 10:14Speaker 1: Ken get the yards that are there. You know what
- 10:16Speaker 1: I'm saying, Get the yards that are there. If it's
- 10:18Speaker 1: three and it gets five, go get five. You know,
- 10:20Speaker 1: go get whatever is there. I know it's a weird
- 10:22Speaker 1: balanced because you don't want to take away his dynamic
- 10:24Speaker 1: playmaking ability and everything that makes him special. Made a
- 10:27Speaker 1: special at Michigan State and was made a special so
- 10:29Speaker 1: far this year. But he took what was there and
- 10:31Speaker 1: he was an impact in the second half. And if
- 10:33Speaker 1: this team is going to go anywhere this year and
- 10:35Speaker 1: make the playoffs, are gonna meet Ken Walker to be
- 10:36Speaker 1: that consistent. I appreciate that. Shane Waldron, those guys kind
- 10:39Speaker 1: of stayed with it, and we kind of got to
- 10:41Speaker 1: see what made this team special. They just weren't able
- 10:43Speaker 1: to make a lot of plays down the stretch. Then
- 10:45Speaker 1: we go to the receivers. DK Metcalf seven receptions, eighty
- 10:49Speaker 1: one yards. Not the most amazing day out there, But
- 10:52Speaker 1: in doing that, he said a couple of records. Single
- 10:55Speaker 1: season career high with the eighty six receptions. Previous ide
- 10:58Speaker 1: was eighty three. His eighty one yards also got him
- 11:00Speaker 1: his second one thousand yards season, and then d K
- 11:03Speaker 1: also passed Joey Galloway for first place for the most
- 11:06Speaker 1: receiving yards and players for his four seasons in franchise
- 11:09Speaker 1: history with four thousand, one seventy five, and he also
- 11:11Speaker 1: passed John L. Williams for eighth place on all time
- 11:14Speaker 1: receiving yards lifts in Seahawk history. DK he honestly to me,
- 11:19Speaker 1: it's surprising that it's only his second one thousand yards season. Yeah,
- 11:23Speaker 1: it feels like more than that. Well, in nineteen his
- 11:25Speaker 1: rookie year, he got close, and then last year both
- 11:28Speaker 1: seasons with nine hundred yards. Obviously, last year, Russell gets hurt,
- 11:31Speaker 1: so you're playing. It took a while to kind of
- 11:33Speaker 1: get that stuff figured out. His finger wasn't right, He
- 11:36Speaker 1: wasn't right for a couple of games. Gino was playing
- 11:38Speaker 1: last year, but he's kind of playing in Russell's offense,
- 11:40Speaker 1: so things weren't right. And then he was just a
- 11:42Speaker 1: rookie that first year. So it just feels like or
- 11:45Speaker 1: DK gets a lot more yardage and stuff like that.
- 11:47Speaker 1: But good to see him getting that done. And we're
- 11:49Speaker 1: gonna need a big game from him. We're gonna talk
- 11:50Speaker 1: a lot about this on the preview podcast, and I'm
- 11:52Speaker 1: excited for because I want my guy DK to get
- 11:55Speaker 1: after Sauce Gardner, but I want to get the popcorn ready.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I want him to blow off that ball in that
- 12:00Speaker 1: first play of the game and put him in the
- 12:02Speaker 1: ground because I want our guy to win Defensive Rookie
- 12:05Speaker 1: of the Year. So I'm look getting at it from
- 12:06Speaker 1: a completely different window. But anyway, DK, that gap sent
- 12:09Speaker 1: some records against the Chiefs. Yeah, DK, do what DK does?
- 12:14Speaker 1: I think He's caught so many touchdowns over the past
- 12:17Speaker 1: few years. It feels like there's no way this guy's
- 12:19Speaker 1: not over a thousand yards. What he has ten and
- 12:21Speaker 1: twelve this year numbers a down a bit when it
- 12:24Speaker 1: comes to touchdowns, but thousand yards another milestone for DK.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Man keep it rolling. Jordan Brooks and Cody Barton had
- 12:30Speaker 1: decent game, seventeen tackles, one pass defended, didn't didn't make
- 12:36Speaker 1: any plays that have wiled you, but I felt like
- 12:37Speaker 1: where they needed to be. You talk about shutting down
- 12:40Speaker 1: the Chiefs run game to what seventy seven yards? These
- 12:42Speaker 1: guys are a big part of that. Obviously, line occupies
- 12:45Speaker 1: guys and guys to the back end clean it up.
- 12:47Speaker 1: But Jordan and Cody Cody Man had a good game
- 12:49Speaker 1: than Darrell Taylor. Four sacks, one four tackles, one sack,
- 12:53Speaker 1: one QB hit more. You want to see DT fill
- 12:57Speaker 1: up the stat sheet, right, even if it's just like
- 13:00Speaker 1: one mark in every category, But more that he can do,
- 13:02Speaker 1: the better he's going to be for this team. So
- 13:04Speaker 1: it's nice to see him start to do that towards
- 13:06Speaker 1: the end of the year. They need him. The Seahawks
- 13:08Speaker 1: absolutely need a consistent pass rush. I think Chenna Oosu's
- 13:12Speaker 1: kind of flashed this year and getting a lot more
- 13:13Speaker 1: attention from teams that they're playing. So Darryl Taylor, even
- 13:16Speaker 1: in a limited capacity with his reps, he needs to
- 13:18Speaker 1: be a factor for this team to be successful. So
- 13:20Speaker 1: good to see him get a sack and then it's
- 13:22Speaker 1: a defense as a whole bump just I mean, fourth
- 13:25Speaker 1: time this season the Seahawks have held the ponents a
- 13:27Speaker 1: less than one hundred rushing yards. So we know what,
- 13:29Speaker 1: we know what the drew was. They were in Gash
- 13:31Speaker 1: They're getting about two hundred yards a game for over
- 13:33Speaker 1: a month, and then to do that yes, the Chiefs.
- 13:36Speaker 1: You don't think about them as a running team, but
- 13:38Speaker 1: neither were the Bucks. You know what I'm saying. You
- 13:40Speaker 1: still have to do your job, and it was really
- 13:42Speaker 1: cool to see them lock that down. You also held
- 13:45Speaker 1: the Chiefs to under three hundred totally yards, Like, come on, man,
- 13:48Speaker 1: they're actually four hundred twenty nine yards a game coming
- 13:50Speaker 1: into that. You made them punt the ball six times.
- 13:52Speaker 1: That's tied for their season nine. So this defense was
- 13:55Speaker 1: there doing things and it was really cool to see.
- 13:57Speaker 1: And I just hope that spurs him into the next
- 13:59Speaker 1: two weeks to have confidence, to give us a chance
- 14:02Speaker 1: to kind of get this postseason run going and give
- 14:04Speaker 1: us a chance to get in there. Yeah, you did
- 14:07Speaker 1: it to the Chiefs, why not do it to everybody else?
- 14:09Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Fourteen first downs they held
- 14:12Speaker 1: him to? What else? Last see what three for eleven
- 14:15Speaker 1: on thirtyus that's the number I was looking for. Three
- 14:17Speaker 1: four eleven on third downs. Man, that's like some mediocre offense.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Tight numbers right there, we talk about the best offense
- 14:24Speaker 1: of the game. So yeah, man, roll over these minutes
- 14:27Speaker 1: like back in the day, don't call me to a
- 14:31Speaker 1: nine o'clock to the gys. You know what I mean.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Let's go. Let's get to the ride receiver round up.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Talk about DK seven for eighty one, Kobe at three
- 14:39Speaker 1: for forty five, and I see the tight end. It's
- 14:41Speaker 1: get involved again. De dj Dallas at six for thirty two.
- 14:45Speaker 1: The quand tread will have three for twenty six. Drop
- 14:47Speaker 1: a couple of footballs. It doesn't look good, but those
- 14:50Speaker 1: rests are valuable for him. I think he's gonna learn
- 14:53Speaker 1: from the mistakes. City may Dissey had one for nineteen.
- 14:56Speaker 1: No I had two for twelve and a touchdown. Then
- 14:58Speaker 1: Penny Hard had one catch. Well, but now let's get
- 15:01Speaker 1: to that coach's corner man, tell me about it. Well,
- 15:05Speaker 1: we alluded to it. It was the only time the
- 15:06Speaker 1: Seahawks got in the end zone against the Chiefs. Gino
- 15:10Speaker 1: Smith found Noah Fant for the second straight week for
- 15:13Speaker 1: the only touchdown of the game in the fourth Medcalf
- 15:16Speaker 1: now comes wide to the near side. Smith, out of
- 15:18Speaker 1: the shotgun, looks to the middle of the field. Now
- 15:21Speaker 1: he's gonna scramble right now, he's gonna throw ball, is caught,
- 15:24Speaker 1: touchdown Seahawks Noah Fant in the back of the end
- 15:28Speaker 1: Zolds almost nonchalantly brings that one in a six yard
- 15:33Speaker 1: touchdown strike from Gino Smith and the first touchdown scored
- 15:38Speaker 1: by the Seahawks today. Man, there was nothing special about
- 15:44Speaker 1: this play right here, right this was happening. You got
- 15:47Speaker 1: a two by two formation, two receivers to the left
- 15:49Speaker 1: of Gino, two to the right. You gotta I believe
- 15:51Speaker 1: that looks like DJ Dallas to the right of Gino
- 15:54Speaker 1: and shotgun. What DJ's gonna do. He's gonna release and
- 15:56Speaker 1: he's gonna run an option around on that Micah linebacker.
- 15:59Speaker 1: What Gino's is, he's reading that my linebacker to see
- 16:02Speaker 1: where the space is linebacker in that safety. What everyone
- 16:05Speaker 1: else is they just run verticals. Now Noah fan is
- 16:08Speaker 1: in the slide down below. Instead of going outside his defender,
- 16:10Speaker 1: he goes inside trying to work to see him, hoping
- 16:13Speaker 1: that that safety kind of bites with that that option
- 16:15Speaker 1: route by DJ Dallas that could pull him away. The
- 16:18Speaker 1: safety bites just a little bit. But as you know,
- 16:20Speaker 1: when you're in the resume, not a lot of room
- 16:22Speaker 1: out there. Everyone else are running goes and occupying their defenders.
- 16:26Speaker 1: So what Noah does He gets to the back of
- 16:28Speaker 1: the end zone and now he's just playing back guard football,
- 16:31Speaker 1: running into space and Gino fits one in there. Tight man,
- 16:35Speaker 1: there's defender underneath the safety who had dropped down, who
- 16:38Speaker 1: was right there ready to make a play on it.
- 16:41Speaker 1: But two weeks in the row, these guys I've connected. Man. Yeah,
- 16:44Speaker 1: I love to see it. I mean, no fan making
- 16:46Speaker 1: plays in the end zone. We talked about the tight
- 16:48Speaker 1: ends getting involved more and more, so good to see
- 16:49Speaker 1: Noah kind of have two good games back to back
- 16:52Speaker 1: and DK. If DK is on the field to your
- 16:54Speaker 1: side and your safety, you're gonna want to know where
- 16:56Speaker 1: fourteen is in the red zone. He kind of runs
- 16:59Speaker 1: a fade towards the outside that holds the safety enough
- 17:01Speaker 1: to know a couple steps outside and like you said,
- 17:03Speaker 1: Gino just those a rope man in that cold weather.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Nice play to see. We need more of that bump.
- 17:08Speaker 1: We need more of the tight ends involved. And unfortunately
- 17:10Speaker 1: just announced today Will Disley is going to ir which
- 17:14Speaker 1: really hurts this team in their thirteen personnel packages and stuff.
- 17:17Speaker 1: So hopefully no offense Colby Parkinson can pick up the
- 17:20Speaker 1: slack a little bit there and help this this unit,
- 17:22Speaker 1: you know, continue to help this offense because this offense
- 17:25Speaker 1: is gonna need to put up some points because it's
- 17:27Speaker 1: win or go home at this point for the Seattle Seahawks,
- 17:30Speaker 1: so we get hope they can get that done. But
- 17:33Speaker 1: on Christmas Eve last Saturday, the clock just ran out
- 17:39Speaker 1: an taking the fire Huntley, They're just gonna let the
- 17:41Speaker 1: clock wind down, but it's not even gonna bother taking
- 17:44Speaker 1: that last time out. Hard to win games, bump when
- 17:47Speaker 1: you score ten points and go two or fourteen on
- 17:49Speaker 1: third down and three or six on fourth down. It
- 17:52Speaker 1: was clearly this team really missed hyder Lockett. I mean
- 17:54Speaker 1: they missed them on every third down. They were unable
- 17:56Speaker 1: to get anything sustained offensively, and I think that's why,
- 18:00Speaker 1: you know how well that kind of a heads up
- 18:03Speaker 1: to the defense and just like how well that they
- 18:05Speaker 1: played that Pete was willing to go for it that
- 18:07Speaker 1: many times on fourth down because they were keeping them
- 18:10Speaker 1: in the game. But offensively, they just couldn't really get
- 18:12Speaker 1: much going, and that was kind of the factor in
- 18:14Speaker 1: the game when he don't say on the field, it's
- 18:15Speaker 1: hard to put up points. Yeah, they offense struggled to
- 18:18Speaker 1: get going, but there was one part that did all right. Man,
- 18:20Speaker 1: it was that run game, can Walker had one hundred
- 18:22Speaker 1: and seven yards on the ground, first time since No.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Number six against the Cardinals that the Seahawks rushed for
- 18:28Speaker 1: over one hundred and Defensively, the Hawks played. They played
- 18:31Speaker 1: some good football. Man. You hold the Chiefs under three
- 18:33Speaker 1: hundred yards for the first time all season. The Chiefs
- 18:36Speaker 1: didn't walk away thinking, again, we dominated that game. They
- 18:39Speaker 1: knew that the Hawks were a tough opponent, no question
- 18:42Speaker 1: about it. Hold seventy seven rushing yards little least amount
- 18:45Speaker 1: since October thirtieth against the Giants. Whatever it was, whatever
- 18:48Speaker 1: confidence is, it's like you're on the golf course, Bump.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I wouldn't know this because I don't have a lot
- 18:52Speaker 1: of confident moments on the golf course. But you just
- 18:54Speaker 1: see a couple of puts go down. You know what
- 18:56Speaker 1: I'm saying. You knocked that put in for part for Birdie.
- 18:58Speaker 1: It happens. One time needed to go in the cup,
- 19:01Speaker 1: I seem to go in the top a couple of times.
- 19:03Speaker 1: It's the same thing with this defense. I think if
- 19:05Speaker 1: they're playing with confidence, they're gonna be ready for this game.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Because it is what it is, Bump. It is playoff
- 19:10Speaker 1: football at this point, we'll go through this in depth
- 19:13Speaker 1: again on the preview podcast, but it's real simple. Seahawks
- 19:16Speaker 1: gotta win two. They need Washington and Green Bay to
- 19:19Speaker 1: lose one of their next two. So it's cut and dry.
- 19:22Speaker 1: It's playoff game. It's playoff football for the Seahawks. Moving
- 19:25Speaker 1: here on out, they gotta win you know, this Sunday
- 19:27Speaker 1: and the following Sunday, and it starts on New Year's
- 19:29Speaker 1: Day against the Jets. Yes, sir, it starts now. Baby,
- 19:33Speaker 1: still in this all that's happened, the ups and downs,
- 19:37Speaker 1: the injuries, the losses, the interceptions, all that stuff. Two
- 19:41Speaker 1: weeks left in this season and they still got a
- 19:43Speaker 1: chance to get it done. So let's go get these Jets.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Come on, Hey, bum if you would have told me
- 19:47Speaker 1: in August that the Seahawks are gonna have a chance
- 19:49Speaker 1: at the playoffs, they need to win their last two games,
- 19:52Speaker 1: I would take that any day of the week. You
- 19:53Speaker 1: got Pro Bowls all over this thing. So I'm excited
- 19:56Speaker 1: for me and Bumba. We're gonna be back with you
- 19:58Speaker 1: later this week to get you preview set for this
- 20:00Speaker 1: Jets game. Everything you need to know about the Jets,
- 20:03Speaker 1: the matchups, the playoffs, scenarios, what's coming up. We'll get
- 20:06Speaker 1: that to you later this week. The Seahawks did LUs
- 20:08Speaker 1: to the Chief, so twenty four to ten. He's Michael
- 20:10Speaker 1: Obama's some nasty job. You can catch us anywhere and
- 20:13Speaker 1: reminder Seahawks dot com, series, XM, Stitcher, Google podcasts, and more.
