- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on uh-huh i sure will good morning everybody you're
- 0:07Speaker 1: listening to the voice uh come on dig me now
- 0:11Speaker 1: one and only steve harvey man got a radio show.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Boy oh boy oh boy i can't even tell you
- 0:18Speaker 2: man um i've been doing some thinking and um And
- 0:24Speaker 2: one of the things that I wanted to mention today
- 0:27Speaker 2: to you as one of the principles of success, being
- 0:33Speaker 2: grateful at all times is difficult to do. Being grateful
- 0:41Speaker 2: at all times is very difficult to do. I find
- 0:47Speaker 2: that to be true with myself. Now, there are others
- 0:50Speaker 2: that might be able to do it, but I, just
- 0:53Speaker 2: from talking and listening and living and learning, being grateful
- 0:58Speaker 2: at all times is difficult to do, but it's necessary
- 1:03Speaker 2: because it's such an act of faith in knowing that
- 1:08Speaker 2: no matter what's going on, it's going to be all right.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And it's hard to see that when things are not
- 1:17Speaker 2: going in your favor, when things have turned so dramatically
- 1:22Speaker 2: the other way. And it seems as though you're the
- 1:26Speaker 2: only one in the situation where you're involved with other
- 1:29Speaker 2: people or someone got an accusation against you falsely or
- 1:33Speaker 2: somebody trying to do something to you unjustifiably, whatever the
- 1:37Speaker 2: case may be. When it's happening to you, it does
- 1:41Speaker 2: appear to you that, oh my goodness, man, this is
- 1:46Speaker 2: horribly one-sided. So it is difficult. It is hard to do,
- 1:51Speaker 2: to be grateful at all times, but it's so necessary.
- 1:56Speaker 2: And I just want to point out a couple of
- 1:58Speaker 2: things to you. First of all, the difficulty in being
- 2:03Speaker 2: grateful in hard times is that, number one, the present
- 2:09Speaker 2: circumstances oftentimes is just so pressing and so overwhelming that
- 2:14Speaker 2: a lot of your energy is devoted to trying to
- 2:18Speaker 2: come up with the solution for that. or trying to
- 2:20Speaker 2: muster the strength to weather the storm, or trying to
- 2:24Speaker 2: just brace yourself to try to get through it. And
- 2:27Speaker 2: in doing that, it's hard to be grateful. It's hard
- 2:33Speaker 2: to be grateful in pain. And I know it is.
- 2:37Speaker 2: But here is the trick for me. This is what
- 2:41Speaker 2: I've had to learn how to do. And I guess
- 2:45Speaker 2: it takes practice to get here. It's not nothing you
- 2:48Speaker 2: just start doing right away. You got to practice it
- 2:50Speaker 2: in small increments to really get it. What I've always
- 2:53Speaker 2: had to say to myself and what I've learned to
- 2:56Speaker 2: say to myself is this is happening to me because
- 3:01Speaker 2: God is working me through something. This is happening to
- 3:05Speaker 2: me because it's some form of test that I have
- 3:09Speaker 2: to pass in order to graduate to the next grade.
- 3:13Speaker 2: in order to be allowed to move to the next level.
- 3:16Speaker 2: This is happening to me because there's something I need
- 3:21Speaker 2: to purge my life of, my body of, my spirit of.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Something's purging in me. And when you purge something, it's painful.
- 3:31Speaker 2: You know, it's like a person getting off drugs. The
- 3:34Speaker 2: withdrawal is painful. agonizing i've been told and every documentary
- 3:40Speaker 2: i've ever watched it it's an agonizing process to go
- 3:44Speaker 2: cold turkey to withdraw to pull away after you've been
- 3:48Speaker 2: doing something so long and so i know that this
- 3:53Speaker 2: process is tough when you're going through some pain but
- 3:58Speaker 2: when you're purging your system when you're having to pass
- 4:03Speaker 2: a test, when you're about to make, when you're being
- 4:08Speaker 2: made ready for the next level, that moment right in there,
- 4:12Speaker 2: in realizing that that's what's happening, that's where you find
- 4:16Speaker 2: the gratitude. That's where I found the gratitude. I hope
- 4:20Speaker 2: I'm explaining this correctly. I'm going to keep trying until
- 4:22Speaker 2: I get it. But that's where you find the gratitude.
- 4:26Speaker 2: The second part of it is, is that God has
- 4:32Speaker 2: never left me in all the things I've done in
- 4:36Speaker 2: all the mistakes I've made, all the lies I've told,
- 4:41Speaker 2: all the situations I've gotten myself into from being greedy
- 4:45Speaker 2: and wanting too much for me at the expense sometimes
- 4:52Speaker 2: of other people, not doing it deliberately or in a
- 4:57Speaker 2: vindictive way. Cause I've never had that spirit. I'm not a,
- 5:01Speaker 2: vindictive or mean person, but sometimes in my life in
- 5:06Speaker 2: wanting to do what I wanted to do, I didn't
- 5:10Speaker 2: totally weigh out the cause and effect of the other person.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I mean, can I just be real with you with that?
- 5:17Speaker 2: I mean, how many times we done all done that? Look,
- 5:19Speaker 2: it doesn't, you don't make you a bad person. You know,
- 5:22Speaker 2: the good people do bad things all the time. I
- 5:26Speaker 2: just happened to have come to the realization that unknowingly,
- 5:31Speaker 2: And not with malice intent towards a person. I've heard
- 5:39Speaker 2: people looking at something I wanted to do without really
- 5:44Speaker 2: looking at what the cause and effect would be on
- 5:47Speaker 2: the other person. So in doing some of these things,
- 5:51Speaker 2: I've created situations for myself. But God, through his grace
- 5:56Speaker 2: and mercy, has allowed me to even get beyond that.
- 6:00Speaker 2: So what I'm saying is God has never left me
- 6:03Speaker 2: in spite of myself. He's always gotten me through. So
- 6:07Speaker 2: that's the other part of it, too. See that no
- 6:10Speaker 2: matter what you're going through, you've got to understand that
- 6:13Speaker 2: God has always gotten you through it. Now, hasn't he? Now,
- 6:16Speaker 2: it may not be the way you want it or
- 6:18Speaker 2: the way you like. But guess what? You can't do
- 6:21Speaker 2: wrong and not pay for that. Now that that's not
- 6:24Speaker 2: how this works. That's never going to be the case.
- 6:27Speaker 2: But the great thing about God is he fires warning
- 6:30Speaker 2: shots at us all the time. He gives us an
- 6:32Speaker 2: opportunity to stop. You know, he don't fully punish us
- 6:36Speaker 2: right away every time we do something wrong. Now, does he?
- 6:40Speaker 2: You know, eventually you're going to get caught doing whatever
- 6:43Speaker 2: it is you're doing. You do understand that, don't you?
- 6:46Speaker 2: But the first time that close call, that was a
- 6:49Speaker 2: warning shot for you to stop. Look, I know you're
- 6:52Speaker 2: not perfect. I know we all sinners down here. So
- 6:55Speaker 2: I know you're going to make mistakes one time. I
- 6:57Speaker 2: know you was looking at her when you weren't supposed to.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I know you said something to him when you wasn't
- 7:01Speaker 2: supposed to. I know you got with her when you
- 7:04Speaker 2: know you weren't supposed to. And I know you got
- 7:07Speaker 2: with him when you know you weren't supposed to. So
- 7:09Speaker 2: I tell you what I'm going to do. I'm going
- 7:10Speaker 2: to fire a warning shot. And maybe you'll slow your
- 7:12Speaker 2: roll this time. But we keep on, though. See, see, see,
- 7:16Speaker 2: that's what happens. See, we just keep on. And then
- 7:19Speaker 2: the next thing you know, we get caught. Now, oh, Lord,
- 7:23Speaker 2: have mercy. I want out of this. Yeah, well, see,
- 7:25Speaker 2: you done dug this hole pretty deep. And he going
- 7:28Speaker 2: to get you out. But there's some things that's got
- 7:31Speaker 2: to go down now because you didn't pay attention to
- 7:34Speaker 2: the warning shot. See, had you stopped the first time
- 7:36Speaker 2: you felt bad about it and said you wasn't going
- 7:38Speaker 2: to do it no more, the situation wouldn't be as critical.
- 7:41Speaker 2: But because we don't stop and we go again. But
- 7:44Speaker 2: God always forgives. He always allows us to get back
- 7:51Speaker 2: up again. He always gives us mercy. He always gives
- 7:56Speaker 2: us his grace. He always does that. You're listening to
- 7:59Speaker 2: the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
