- 0:00Welcome to Friday. I'm in bed.
- 0:02Podcast for midlife women living their best life but in bed by
- 0:0610. We're here to chat and sometimes
- 0:08rant about the news of the week and how it affects us and you.
- 0:11I'm. Kate, a 53 year old
- 0:12postmenopausal mum of two whose happy place is at the front of a
- 0:16very loud gig, especially one that ends early.
- 0:19Gem, I'm 46 years old, I love running on cocktails and I'm
- 0:23child free, but I am a devoted mum to two very spoilt pug
- 0:25babies. But before we begin, we will
- 0:29occasionally be discussing sensitive topics, but we will
- 0:32always notify you in advance of each section and we can add
- 0:35support group websites and phone numbers that will help you in
- 0:38the show notes. Please do like and subscribe
- 0:40wherever you listen to your podcasts and do leave us a
- 0:42comment. We love to chat, as you can
- 0:44probably tell. Hi, Kate, How are you?
- 0:57Hey, I'm good, thank you. Getting ready for Christmas.
- 1:00Although this podcast episode is going to be going out after
- 1:04Christmas. Boxing Day is it, I believe.
- 1:06Boxing Day is Friday. Yes, the Boxing Day that no one
- 1:11knows is why it's called Boxing Day.
- 1:14I don't think. Why do you think that?
- 1:16Yeah. Have have you ever heard any of
- 1:18the theories as to why it's called Boxing Day?
- 1:20There were, so there was, I think one of the theories is
- 1:23that the, the the queen used to give out Christmas boxes.
- 1:27So that's why it was Boxing Day. Yeah.
- 1:30So there's there's and the church as well apparently used
- 1:32to give out boxes. So that's why it's called like
- 1:34Christmas boxes, you know, with money to, to the poor people of
- 1:37the parish after Christmas. So that's, that's one of the
- 1:40theories about why it's called Boxing Day.
- 1:41But also, as far as I can tell, there's no actual evidence for
- 1:45that, and no one seems to know why it's called Boxing Day.
- 1:48When I was a kid, I for some reason always thought it was
- 1:50like punchy boxing, you know? There is football on Boxing Day
- 1:54and there is horse racing because we used to go to the
- 1:56horse races. I used to live in southwest
- 1:59London near Twickenham, but there was like, I can't even
- 2:03remember the names Kempton Park and there was lots of different
- 2:06race race courses and we used to go to the races on Boxing Day.
- 2:10So maybe there was months boxing too, who knows.
- 2:15Say boxing without doing the little punchy hands.
- 2:17Yeah. So as I said, this is going out
- 2:22after Christmas. So my question to you before we
- 2:25get into today's podcast is how festive are you feeling and how
- 2:28much more have you got to do before the big day?
- 2:32I don't know if I want to talk about this because it's very
- 2:34soon. It's very soon and I'm finding
- 2:36it kind of traumatic. I'm very disorganized this year.
- 2:39What we've moving into the new office and stuff like that.
- 2:41I am, I am very, very, very disorganized.
- 2:43But it's OK because Christmas is going to be chill.
- 2:45We're actually stealing your idea this year.
- 2:48We're going to have a lovely dinner on Christmas Eve and then
- 2:52on Christmas Day we're going to do picky bits.
- 2:54Got to love some picky bits, right?
- 2:56And then we normally go to the pub at lunchtime because the
- 3:00pubs are open for a couple of hours.
- 3:01So there's a nice pub around the corner for us if we go around
- 3:03there, have a mulled wine, and then we'll come home and fall
- 3:07asleep in front of the TV. Basically, we have a fire
- 3:10because we've got an open fireplace in our house.
- 3:12So yeah, be lovely and super cozy.
- 3:15How about you? How do you normally spend
- 3:17Christmas? Well, as I said, we celebrate on
- 3:19Christmas Eve. We have our dinner on Christmas
- 3:22Eve so that the stress of cooking is removed and
- 3:26particularly with kids, it just becomes more chilled.
- 3:29So we have Christmas Eve dinner and it's really sweet.
- 3:33So when my kids were little, my mom read Twas the night before
- 3:38Christmas to them and off they toddled to bed and obviously put
- 3:42their stockings out. You know, all that cute stuff
- 3:44when they're little and my children are almost 18 and 15
- 3:50and they will still insist that Grandma reads the story.
- 3:55I mean, my son might have a point in his hand, but since he
- 4:00is. Nearly 18 and.
- 4:02You know, it's different, but it's really cute because
- 4:05actually we've talked a lot actually over the last couple of
- 4:08weeks about tradition and about how quite often to us it's
- 4:13embedded, embedded, embroiled with kind of in teen 50s,
- 4:18slightly sexist thing or old fashioned or something.
- 4:22What's really nice is making your own traditions and that's
- 4:26kind of one of ours. And I think it's really cute
- 4:29that my kids still do that. And they then go upstairs and
- 4:33let's face it, they don't go to bed.
- 4:34They just sit on their phones or text their mates or whatever.
- 4:38But they still, like, eject the building.
- 4:41Yeah. And go.
- 4:41Upstairs and we still put out their stockings and like you
- 4:45know, I am wonderful that's. Nice.
- 4:47Yeah. I mean, I got if I'm at home, I
- 4:48get a stocking. I mean we see we me and my
- 4:51husband because obviously we don't have children.
- 4:53So Christmas for us is us and the pugs.
- 4:56And we used to buy each other stockings, but we ended up
- 4:58putting kind of loads of like just useless tat in it.
- 5:01So a few years ago, we made our own tradition.
- 5:04And our tradition is that we do Christmas Eve boxes for each
- 5:07other and we have categories. We do something to eat,
- 5:10something to drink, something to wear, something to do and
- 5:14something else for that time. You see, like, oh bat, I need
- 5:17that. So that's what we get each other
- 5:19little that we get each other little gifts.
- 5:21I have not finished the shopping for that yet, but I do.
- 5:24I have a. Really good book.
- 5:25For there's something to do, which I think killing Joy so
- 5:29which is fine because he's not in here now and this won't be
- 5:32going out till after Boxing Day, so he won't know.
- 5:34I am wrote a read last year about aimed at, you know,
- 5:39parents of boys, teenage boys and what do you put in a
- 5:43stocking because the girls are so easy and any parent of teens
- 5:49will actually get this. But I got literally annihilated
- 5:53online for being a par parent or for being sexist.
- 5:56And it's like, well, you can go around Home Bargains or
- 5:58something and pick up body spray and nail varnish and nail files
- 6:03and all the, you know, all the stuff.
- 6:06Fill up a stocking really easy. But with boys, once you've
- 6:09bought Lynx Africa, what else do you put in?
- 6:15And maybe some skin care, but actually he doesn't really use
- 6:18it. And it's kind of, yeah, you end
- 6:20up filling in and said about you don't want to, you don't want to
- 6:24gift tat, which stockings often often are, but you also don't
- 6:27want to put in expensive things because that's a present.
- 6:30So I said to my my daughter, what should I put in our son, my
- 6:33son's stocking? And she turned around and said
- 6:35condoms and vodka. You run that I would please go.
- 6:38Condoms and look, you know. What else you got?
- 6:44For Christmas, well, I have got, he's got lots of drum stuff,
- 6:47he's a drummer, but this is interesting.
- 6:50I have got him a naughties digital camera because there's
- 6:58been a weird thing this year that all the kids, and by kids I
- 7:02mean Gen. Z, but actually young
- 7:04millennials are beginning to to, I'm hearing, have discovered
- 7:08their parents digital cameras. And you would ask yourself, what
- 7:13is the point? Like what is the point of having
- 7:15a digital camera when you have a phone that takes the most
- 7:18amazing photos? Well, it turns out what they
- 7:21want is they're going to parties with a digital camera, taking
- 7:27pictures, putting their phones away, taking photographs, and
- 7:32one person, whoever had the camera, goes home, downloads
- 7:35them all and sends them to the group.
- 7:38They also like them because the the quality is lo fi compared to
- 7:44an iPhone and they like that kind of retro that you feel old
- 7:49retro 2005 look. But I absolutely love the
- 7:56concept that young people are going, we're at a party, let's
- 8:01put our phones away and let's use a cool digital camera.
- 8:04And I spoke to a friend of mine that's a wedding photographer
- 8:07and he said it's happening at weddings.
- 8:09So people are literally taking pictures of the day.
- 8:13On. My 2K digital camera.
- 8:15So I've dug my one out. I had a really good one.
- 8:19I've dug it out. I've got it, a new charger, a
- 8:21new battery and well new stroke old and a new memory card and he
- 8:27has got a wizzy silver cool looking one.
- 8:32I do. I love that.
- 8:34I know that you, we've spoken a couple of times about this kind
- 8:36of like move away from this like permanent online.
- 8:42So yeah, it's cool. I mean, there's been quite a
- 8:44move back towards vinyl recently.
- 8:46I know there's an awful lot of vinyl shops and stuff kind of
- 8:48pop pop up. And I saw it was probably a
- 8:52thread the other day with someone saying all those little
- 8:55artifacts that you hear and stuff that everyone's really
- 8:57pleased that they've got rid of when they move on.
- 8:59A format will be the thing that you miss about it.
- 9:01So you know the cracks and pops from it and I think.
- 9:04We've probably both got. Songs that we always sing with,
- 9:07like the hiss from our from our tape that we recorded of our
- 9:10friend in it, right? Oh, it's just amazing.
- 9:14And there's things like the iPods, iPods and iPod Nanos, if
- 9:19you've got one, that now's the time to sell it because they are
- 9:22going because they're going up in value.
- 9:26But again, it's back to what we were talking about last week
- 9:30about Australia banning social media because obviously the fear
- 9:35of what kids are seeing, which we, you know, we, we agree is a,
- 9:39you know, is a good thing to a certain point.
- 9:41But you know, that is good. But obviously one of the worries
- 9:44with social media and kids is they're spending so much time on
- 9:46it, which they are fact. But there's this real movement,
- 9:50particularly with older teen, older teens and younger is
- 9:53younger kids in their 20s, people in their 20s rejecting
- 9:57partially, not wholly partially. And they're they're saying, you
- 10:02know, we're seeing a rise in iPods, as I said, and vinyl,
- 10:05digital cameras, but also things like writing, like like writing
- 10:11letters, journaling, making scrapbooks.
- 10:14This is kind of let's move away from making a Pinterest board.
- 10:17Let's make a scrapbook like we did, which is really exciting.
- 10:22The thing is I have started myself to think more about those
- 10:26kind of offline things that we used to do rather than being
- 10:29permanently online. And it can be, I mean, obviously
- 10:32we know that, you know, you look at the screen time on your phone
- 10:35and you go. But yeah, I mean, it's like,
- 10:37it's like I do, I try and do, I do embroidery in front of the TV
- 10:40and I'm like, am I just old? But apparently, no, I am.
- 10:43I am super, super cool now. But journaling, journaling is
- 10:46amazing. Actually.
- 10:47That's for years. Anything I did like that I would
- 10:50do on my phone. But I've also started journaling
- 10:52longhand, so I think even in decrepit old ladies like me,
- 10:57there must be a move towards that, going back to that.
- 11:01But I think, I think it's a feeling of we expect us to
- 11:06because a, as we get older, this is an expectation.
- 11:09This is not my view. You know, we might get into
- 11:12sewing or knitting or whatever, and which is such a stereotype,
- 11:16but also we have a hankering towards our past.
- 11:20You know, we do get more nostalgic as we get older.
- 11:22But to see 20 year olds going, actually, I want vinyl.
- 11:28I don't want to listen to Spotify.
- 11:29I want vinyl and I want to buy the vinyl.
- 11:32And they're exchanging vinyls and they're like, it's just, I
- 11:36find it really. This is going to make me sound
- 11:39ancient. Really heartwarming.
- 11:41You know, it's like. What do you, what do you think
- 11:45is behind it? Because I have like some of the,
- 11:49some of the things that I do is that kind of idea of when you
- 11:52put everything, when you do everything with your phone, it's
- 11:55like, or online, it's like it belongs to someone else.
- 11:59It's like not yours. And it's like, you know, there's
- 12:02privacy concerns about anything you do when, when all your tech
- 12:05devices are connected to the Internet.
- 12:07So that's the thing that I think about sometimes, you know, if
- 12:10you've got a long form journal somewhat, you know, your mum's
- 12:12got to sneak into your room to read it rather than just like.
- 12:16Well, this is going to. This is an attack your live
- 12:18Journal account. And I mean, that's dated me,
- 12:20right? But.
- 12:22Well, this is going to depress you because I believe that they
- 12:26think it's retro and cool and like cute like like 2005.
- 12:31Like they think that's like retro.
- 12:34As I said, vintage old, you know, so it's a bit like in the
- 12:3790s when we wore stuff from the 70s, you know, like that kind of
- 12:42we wore flares or we, we got into Fleetwood Mac or we, you
- 12:46know, whatever. I think it's that like 2005 and
- 12:51seen as kind of retro and old fashioned.
- 12:53Cool. I thought I, yeah, I thought I
- 12:56was so cool listening to the Sex Pistols when I was like 14 in
- 13:00the, in the kind of yeah, early mid 90s, Yeah, I thought I was
- 13:04so cool. I know.
- 13:06So basically don't sell or don't like throw out your tech.
- 13:11And I read something on, I think it was the sun around naughties
- 13:16tech or naughties stuff that's worth something.
- 13:20And I can't remember the figure, but it was hundreds, hundreds of
- 13:23pounds. People were outbidding each
- 13:25other for the Generation One iPhone, which of course you'd
- 13:28have just recycled or been like something years.
- 13:31Ago if you found it, Like, yeah, I don't feel like if you hang on
- 13:36to your stuff, this is cheap Christmas shopping if you've got
- 13:38teenagers as well, right? Yeah, well, with the I'm not.
- 13:43Suggesting that I'm not suggesting that.
- 13:45You that your. Gift is cheap.
- 13:47That was not the intent of. That well, no, because I did
- 13:50notice that festivals in the summer, people using them and I
- 13:53was like, I think we've got 3 or 4 in the cupboard and we went
- 13:56through them and then I looked them up on eBay and I could get
- 13:59like 90 to £100 each. So I was going to sell them all.
- 14:02And then Herbie was like, I really want one of these.
- 14:05And I was a bit like you can have the rubbish 1 is what I was
- 14:08thinking. And then I was like, oh, you
- 14:11know what, I'm going to save the really good one and I'll sell
- 14:13the rest because then he's got a cool one.
- 14:16Yeah, I feel like that. So yeah, it's a bit scary though
- 14:19that these these youngsters think 2005 is like old and cool
- 14:25yesterday. Right.
- 14:26I mean the 1990s was only like 15 years ago.
- 14:30And I have read trend reports from like Pinterest and stuff
- 14:34and they're all saying, you know, analogue is is back.
- 14:36But I also read 2000 and 10s are coming back from a fashion
- 14:40perspective. And it's like that literally was
- 14:43yesterday. Five years ago it was or six
- 14:47years ago it was 2019 in the 20 tens, but apparently any
- 14:52fashion. So we're going to have to think
- 14:54about that as well. I remember I went, I did a tour
- 14:57for. Wearing all my clothes from
- 14:58then. Well, I did a tour at Vintage.
- 15:03Where was it? I can't remember.
- 15:05I did this talk in London about like what's next for vintage?
- 15:08And it was, you know, everybody there was wearing like 50s,
- 15:11sixties, 70s, all reproduction. And I sat and said Y2K, the year
- 15:172000 is going to be next because young, young people have been
- 15:21wearing 90s for a good five years, even more Y2K.
- 15:27And the whole room laughed at me, but not in a no way, no way
- 15:30can it? It was like, don't be
- 15:31ridiculous, Kate. Like literally, you know,
- 15:33nothing. It was like that.
- 15:35And then that night I went home and on the train, I opened
- 15:37Grazia and it said Juicy Couture for lure joggers were back in.
- 15:41And I was like. Why 2K was 25 years ago?
- 15:50Yeah, I think trend cycles get a lot quicker like with the with
- 15:55the kind of what's the word in, I want to say instant in state,
- 16:01no instantness. What's the word?
- 16:04I don't know that word One thing that means like how quickly we
- 16:08see stuff on the Internet. I think that means that trend
- 16:11cycles kind of speed themselves up.
- 16:13You know it's by time it whereas it used to be so catwalk led and
- 16:16so things only changed like every.
- 16:18Kind of. Six months to a year kind of
- 16:22thing you now and you know people would wait for that post
- 16:25Fashion Week edition of. Vogue.
- 16:29We're now into in the digital age, we're now getting into
- 16:33faster trend cycles because it's out and it's now and it's, you
- 16:36know, every month you're seeing someone else going, oh, I'm so
- 16:38bored of that now I'm going to wear something else.
- 16:41So I mean, like 10 years ago feels like a lifetime.
- 16:45It does. Particularly with how the last
- 16:4710 years has been. The good news for someone like
- 16:49me is I'm a hoarder. I'm an absolute hoarder.
- 16:52So I have all my clothes from in the 90s, not all my clothes, a
- 16:56lot of clothes from the 90s. And notice that I am wearing all
- 16:59the kids are wearing now or whatever, as is my husband.
- 17:02So both kids are more than happy in their little Y2K tops or
- 17:06their cool like 90s shirts. But I also have the best stuff
- 17:10in 2000 and 10s under the bed. So I'm wondering like what is
- 17:14that? And I think it's all like, I
- 17:16think it was a bit of a wide skirts, like, you know, loose
- 17:20skirt, like a circle skirt, but they were above the knees, like
- 17:23because we've been MIDI for quite a while or maxi, haven't
- 17:26we? And we all used to wear things
- 17:28like above the knee or skater length.
- 17:30And I'm like, oh, is that really going to cut back?
- 17:32But the charity shops are full of it.
- 17:33So maybe if you get your like. Seem to remember little
- 17:38cardigans. But you and I, this is probably
- 17:42when we first kind of knew of each other and met, you know,
- 17:44met and stuff. We were very in the vintage
- 17:47scene in Yeah ten, 2015. But I know if I was wearing
- 17:50modern clothes it would be like a 50s style skirt, although it
- 17:54would be shorter because. Yes.
- 17:56So there was, there was a particular Phase, I remember in
- 17:59the early 10s where it was quite easy to get vintage style stuff,
- 18:06yes, in the High Street stores. And that was really good where a
- 18:09lot of those like strapless, big skirt, 50s dresses, kind of look
- 18:14and novelty prints and things like that.
- 18:17So yeah, I've probably still got AI, got rid of a lot of stuff
- 18:21when when I when I was diagnosed with cancer, when I got sick and
- 18:25when I gained a load of weight on steroids and had a bit of a
- 18:29hissy fit and got rid. Of loads of.
- 18:32Stuff from my wardrobe. And to be fair, I should have
- 18:35known this stuff was coming back when I started getting rid of or
- 18:38like like stiletto calf length boots with pointy toes when I
- 18:43was like, well, I'm never wearing them again, am I?
- 18:45I should have known at that point that it was definitely,
- 18:48definitely, definitely coming back.
- 18:51I know and I think, but even the Y2K stuff, and I can say this
- 18:55because this is going out on Boxing Day, my daughter has got
- 18:58low rise. Miss 60 jeans for her Christmas
- 19:03present and the shortest micro miniskirt you've ever seen in
- 19:07your freaking life. That's low rise as well.
- 19:10I just know grandma on Christmas Day is going to look at me as if
- 19:13to say, what is that? But it's Miss 60, you know, like
- 19:17it's just so. And she's got this this
- 19:20Hollister micro zip up hoodie with a fur lining.
- 19:25Oh my God, you know, like, thank, thank goodness for
- 19:28vintage, although it's, it's not cheap.
- 19:32I mean, it's vintage cheap. It's like it's not expensive,
- 19:35but it's not. Yeah, yeah.
- 19:36Two years ago you'd have picked up a low rise pair of jeans like
- 19:42for nothing, whereas now £4050. The way because that's how you
- 19:47that's how you know that they're coming back in, isn't it?
- 19:49I mean, like, have they got that?
- 19:51Yeah. I mean, they learned nothing
- 19:53from us with the the low rise. You just go, no, your belly just
- 19:58hangs over the top. Even when you've got a flat
- 19:59stomach and you're and you're in your teens and the big bell
- 20:02bottoms where you're like you're going to get rising down.
- 20:04She's got their flat and obviously they're now.
- 20:07And so her belly button ring is is obviously always visible.
- 20:11Always visible. That's what, yeah.
- 20:13How I remember when, Yeah. Yeah.
- 20:14And but we haven't progressed to the thong out the top yet.
- 20:18So I'm hoping we don't, but, but I volunteer at festivals for a
- 20:25they've just actually closed, but safe gigs for women.
- 20:28So just to, to try and keep women And in fact, everybody's
- 20:31safe at concerts and festivals and stuff.
- 20:33And I was shocked, not this summer, last summer, how many
- 20:36girls were walking around. Obviously I don't, you know,
- 20:39wear what you want, but from a fashion perspective with the
- 20:41full thong out the top of the back.
- 20:44And I thought that's come back into.
- 20:48What do we what do they call it? Whale tail.
- 20:52And also tramp stamp. The tramp stamp.
- 20:54The tramp stamp across the lower back.
- 20:56I quite like those. It's back what I think I used to
- 20:58call it because of the way it came out of your pants.
- 21:00It was a whale tail. I've never heard that, but
- 21:03trance taps are back, tribal arm bands are back.
- 21:07And so if you've got 1 apart from everybody that has one that
- 21:09had one that isn't, it's all now bled into each other and doesn't
- 21:12look tribal anymore. And eyebrow piercing.
- 21:14So my son's got his eyebrow Pierce.
- 21:16You know, it's all just and obviously people always had
- 21:19their eyebrow Pierce, but it's that kind of late night is early
- 21:23naughties. You know, The thing is, if we if
- 21:27we, so if I go back and relive all the things that I never got
- 21:30to do at the time, like the tribal armband, I want it so
- 21:34badly. Am I cool now?
- 21:36Yeah, will I be cool or will I be a deluded old lady?
- 21:40You'll be cool. Good.
- 21:42OK, there is no such thing as a deluded old lady because you
- 21:47remember you can do what you like.
- 21:48You're an adult. Well, I was, I was well aware
- 21:50that I could do what I like, you know, it was more like, what's
- 21:54the everyone else's perception going to be when I do what the
- 21:56hell I like anyway? And I'm not entirely bothered
- 21:59whether they think I'm a deluded old lady, to be honest.
- 22:01Well, it won't have bled like everybody else I know is tribal
- 22:06and they. Pretend I could pretend I got it
- 22:08in the actual naughties and that it's just in really good
- 22:11condition and that I have always been super cool cool even though
- 22:14I wasn't cool enough to actually get one.
- 22:16You've got any tattoos? I do, I have three tattoos on I
- 22:24got in the 90s when I was too young to be getting tattoos.
- 22:28I have, I have, I have a lizard, a little lizard on my hip, but I
- 22:33got when I was like 17 or something Look.
- 22:37Like a lizard now? Or is it just a sort of splat?
- 22:40It looks like a lizard that got slightly run over.
- 22:43Yeah, it's blurred a bit, but I can remember showing it to my
- 22:47mum. She picked me up from the pub
- 22:48obviously and I showed it to her and she went get in the car.
- 22:51But I also. Have two that I have two that
- 22:53I've got as an adult as well. I have a lightning bolt on my
- 22:57wrist, which was a little symbol of power, that kind of Cancer
- 23:06influencer. It was someone I followed called
- 23:08Nicknack Glue who started it. And lots of people have these
- 23:12little lightning bolts in the Cancer community.
- 23:15And then I have a moon on my chest.
- 23:19I had a central line put in and I have a scar on my chest from
- 23:22where they took it out which is how they like gave me my chemo
- 23:26and I didn't and it I was quite self-conscious of the scar so
- 23:28instead of trying to hide it I actually got a moon around it
- 23:31with flowers. So I was trying to make
- 23:33something beautiful out of. I love.
- 23:36And also the moon to me is like regrowth and but they're all
- 23:40quite hidden. So I do get those random men
- 23:42that say, Oh, you're ladylike, not that those people covered in
- 23:46tattoos. And I'm like, that's not my
- 23:49opinion, by the way, just to be very clear there.
- 23:52It's the random men that don't really know who they're talking
- 23:55to. Don't have any, do you know?
- 23:58And people are generally quite surprised because I'm a bit of
- 24:01an alternative rock chick. No, neither is my husband and he
- 24:05hates them, which in a way. Has.
- 24:09Formed a bit of my opinion towards me having one and that's
- 24:13not to say I haven't had one because he doesn't like them,
- 24:16but because he doesn't like them.
- 24:17It's made me go do I like them? You know, like do I really want
- 24:21one? But my issue is is I am pain
- 24:25averse, which is ridiculous because I have two children.
- 24:29So, you know, is that is ridiculous, but also I'm not
- 24:32very good at commitment. What do I want Like it has to be
- 24:37perfect as well. I can't stand it like if the
- 24:41thought of it not being perfect, which although that doesn't
- 24:44matter anymore because they trace them on anyway, don't
- 24:46they? Do you know what I mean?
- 24:48It's not like they're. Free and they.
- 24:50Yeah. And you sign it off and I just
- 24:53can't decide. And I just.
- 24:55And there's things I want, but where do I want them?
- 24:57And I've earned an odd for so, so long.
- 25:01But my son, who is desperate, desperate.
- 25:05His 18th is just going to be swan in the tattoo parlour.
- 25:09You call them that anymore, Don't you do tattooists?
- 25:11Yeah. He.
- 25:12He has a vision of lots. Although I keep saying, yeah,
- 25:17but what will they look like in the future?
- 25:19And I think, oh now I sound really like old and boring going
- 25:21oh but what about the future? Yeah, I think, yeah, that's
- 25:28never bothered me. I'm a bit like, don't care.
- 25:30You could always get something else to cover them up if you
- 25:32don't like him. Again in three years.
- 25:34Like it's a bit like, you know, my nan not wanting me to cut my
- 25:37hair off. I mean, I know hair grows back,
- 25:38but like, you just kind of go, well, I want to do it now so I'm
- 25:42going. No, he.
- 25:43Have been control issues. He's going to have song lyrics
- 25:47written on his chest, I believe. But I thought made I made a bit
- 25:52of a joke. I don't know if it was a joke.
- 25:55Maybe it was a wish, like a wish.
- 25:58I said that we would have a tattoo together, him and I,
- 26:04because we sort of wanted the same thing and we could go
- 26:06together. He seems to have really held me
- 26:09to this flippant comment I made once at a gig.
- 26:12So watch, this space is 18 in March.
- 26:15I might be getting my first tattoo.
- 26:18That's lovely. Oh right, Note makes note about
- 26:22March podcast. The end of March and I'm
- 26:27thinking of having it on the back of my neck.
- 26:29That's nice. You can see it.
- 26:31You can't see it. Yeah, and also you won't be able
- 26:35to see it, so therefore you can pretend it was never there.
- 26:38If you don't like it, it doesn't matter.
- 26:41Take my hair down forever. Oh, the neck forever creeping
- 26:45there you. Won't be able to see it, you'll
- 26:47forget it's there. How often do you look at the
- 26:48back of your neck? Never.
- 26:51Exactly. So yeah, anyway, analogue is
- 26:54back, I 2K is back, some arm bands are back.
- 27:00And happy Christmas. Happy Christmas.
- 27:03Yeah, we've been, we've been quite rambly today, but I think
- 27:06that that's appropriate for this time of year rambling.
- 27:09We should have a little bit of I've got some toffee popcorn
- 27:11flavoured Bailey's somewhere, or Christmas milk as I call it.
- 27:16Do you know I miss Bailey's? I have to say, and I say, so
- 27:20anyone that doesn't know me, I will be celebrating my year on
- 27:24New Year's Day sober. But every Christmas I go
- 27:27Bailey's. That'd be nice.
- 27:29Just one glass of Bailey's and then people say there's a non
- 27:33alcoholic Bailey's and I think, well I'd rather have a chocolate
- 27:35brownie with squirty cream on I think than a non alcoholic
- 27:39Bailey's. Do you know what it is?
- 27:41I haven't tried it yet but I've got a can of it at home to see
- 27:43what it's like but. The non alcoholic one let me
- 27:47know, but I kind of if I'm having non alcoholic Bailey's, I
- 27:50might as well just, yeah, have something, a pudding trifle.
- 27:54I don't know. But yeah, Bailey's, Bailey's.
- 27:57Point. Right then we must go.
- 28:00We must go. For their presents to wrap and
- 28:05potentially buy. No, I'm done.
- 28:08Oh. Yeah, well, you would be, I do.
- 28:11Have to. I am.
- 28:12I am the queen of chaos. Last minute shopping.
- 28:16Yeah, we're lucky it's still not yet.
- 28:19Christmas Eve has not been a rare time for me to do Christmas
- 28:22shopping. I'm doing.
- 28:24I feel like I'm doing quite well so far.
