- 0:00In December of 2024, a strange fog swallowed Los Angeles.
- 0:06Its stank of chemicals left purple stains on cars and
- 0:11refused to lift. At first, people blamed
- 0:15pollution until identical reports came from across the
- 0:19globe. Birds fell silent, animals
- 0:23panicked, and humans began to suffer with burning eyes, vivid
- 0:29nightmares and an unshakable feeling of being watched.
- 0:34Join me as we explore this bizarre and very recent
- 0:38happening of which I had some first hand experience.
- 0:42But before we explore mine, let us first start at the beginning.
- 0:47December 2024 began like any other winter month in Los
- 0:52Angeles. Busy streets, best of lights in
- 0:57the faint home of holiday cheer. But on the 5th day of the month,
- 1:03a dense fog rolled in, blanketing the city, and at
- 1:08first glance it appeared to be nothing unusual, a kind of low
- 1:13hanging mist that occasionally settled over the skyline.
- 1:18But something about this fog was off.
- 1:22It carried an acrid chemical stench, sharp and bitter,
- 1:27reminiscent of gunpowder after fireworks.
- 1:30It clung to surfaces, leaving behind an unsettling purple
- 1:35residue that smeared like oil and glittered faintly under the
- 1:39streetlights. Residents shrugged it off as
- 1:42smog or pollution, a minor inconvenience in a city used to
- 1:47atmospheric oddities. But what began as a peculiar
- 1:52weather anomaly soon spiraled into something far more
- 1:56sinister. Theo, a 34 year old contractor,
- 2:00was driving home through the outskirts of Los Angeles when he
- 2:04first noticed the fog. He was distracted, half
- 2:08listening to a heated debate on talk radio, when the pale haze
- 2:12caught his eye, draped over the distant skyline like a ghostly
- 2:17veil. Here he is.
- 2:19He rolled down his window, expecting the familiar scent of
- 2:23damp earth or car exhaust. Instead, his nose was assaulted
- 2:29by a chemical Tang so strong it made him wince.
- 2:34Gunpowder. He muttered, puzzled.
- 2:37The smell conjured memories of 4th of July fireworks, but this
- 2:42wasn't a celebration. Still, he dismissed it, chalking
- 2:47it up to the usual pollutants of a sprawling metropolis, and
- 2:52continued home. Yet the fog lingered in his
- 2:55thoughts. Over the next few days, Theo
- 2:59noticed strange comments from neighbors and shopkeepers.
- 3:04A cashier at the hardware store complained about the residue
- 3:07left by the morning haze, a film that wouldn't scrub off of her
- 3:11car windows no matter how hard she tried.
- 3:16Theo's neighbor, an early riser, mentioned waking up to the same
- 3:20acrid smell drifting into her bedroom.
- 3:23Her open windows before sunrise. But this was Los Angeles, so
- 3:29smog is practically a part of the scenery.
- 3:33Despite himself, Theo couldn't help but glance up at the sky
- 3:36more often. He watched the haze hover near
- 3:39the horizon, unmoving, colorless, and oppressively
- 3:44still. Something about it made him
- 3:47uneasy. He told himself it was just his
- 3:51imagination. By mid-december, the fog wasn't
- 3:56just an LA problem. Social media lit up with posts
- 4:01from Tampa Bay, Manchester, Sydney and beyond.
- 4:06The descriptions were eerily similar.
- 4:09The sulfuric smell, the strange residue in the sense of
- 4:14something being wrong. This isn't Rain 1 user wrote,
- 4:19attaching photos of faint purple streaks on their windshield.
- 4:24This fog is making me sick. Headaches and nausea.
- 4:29What's going on? Another post from the UK
- 4:33described how the fog had settled over Manchester for four
- 4:37days straight, a suffocating blanket that refused to
- 4:41dissipate. It's not like normal fog, the
- 4:45user claimed. It doesn't lift, it just
- 4:49lingers, thick and chemical, like it's alive.
- 4:55The global chatter unsettled Theo.
- 4:58He found himself scrolling late into the night, consuming post
- 5:03after post. People described flickering
- 5:06lights, erratic animal behavior and an unshakable sense of
- 5:12dread. Wildlife seemed particularly
- 5:16affected. Birds stop singing.
- 5:19Dogs whimpered and pod at doors and livestock refused to enter
- 5:25fog covered fields. In Germany, a farmer described
- 5:30how his cattle avoided the misty patches on his property, their
- 5:34normally Placid demeanor replaced with visible agitation.
- 5:39In WA, Kangaroos were seen huddled together in tight
- 5:44groups, avoiding the fog as if it were a predator.
- 5:49It was as though the animals sensed something that humans did
- 5:52not. By New Year's Eve, local news
- 5:56outlets began addressing the fog.
- 5:59Most dismissed it as an unusual weather phenomenon, persistent
- 6:04advection fog, or perhaps a temperature inversion wrapping
- 6:08pollutants. A few scientists speculated that
- 6:12the sulfuric smell might be linked to industrial activity.
- 6:17But beneath the surface, most people weren't buying it.
- 6:21One man in Boston, curious and skeptical, elected snow that had
- 6:26fallen during the fog. Under his microscope, he found
- 6:30something chilling, particles of an unidentifiable purple
- 6:35substance, and the snow melted. It didn't turn to water, but
- 6:41instead left an oily, iridescent smear.
- 6:46He shared his findings online, sparking widespread fear.
- 6:51Was the fog truly natural, or was it something deliberately
- 6:56engineered? Reports of illness surged.
- 7:00People complained of sore throats, fatigue and relentless
- 7:05headaches. Some described vivid reoccurring
- 7:08nightmares. And strangely, these dreams were
- 7:13shared identical accounts from people thousands of miles apart.
- 7:18It was as if the fog had warmed its way into their minds.
- 7:23Speculation grew darker. A conspiracy theorist pointed to
- 7:28Operation Sea Spray, a cold era military experiment where the US
- 7:33Navy released bacteria over San Francisco to test biological
- 7:39warfare. Did this be something similar?
- 7:43Others believed the fog was carrying a toxic compound like
- 7:47sulfur dioxide mixed with a mysterious microorganism
- 7:52engineered for nefarious purposes.
- 7:56As the fog spread, so did the fear.
- 8:00In Tampa Bay, residents found their cars coated in a metallic,
- 8:05unremovable substance after the fog passed.
- 8:09In Manchester, outdoor lights flickered as the haze thickened.
- 8:15A farmer in Germany reported that the fog rolled into his
- 8:19village. The birds went silent and his
- 8:22normally Placid dogs howled at the door.
- 8:27And then there were the drones. Unmanned aerial vehicles spotted
- 8:31hovering in the fog's wake, as if monitoring its movements.
- 8:37By mid January, the fog had cemented itself as a source of
- 8:42unease across the globe. It was no longer just a strange
- 8:46weather anomaly, it was a harbinger of something far more
- 8:51sinister. Social media was ablaze with
- 8:54unsettling videos, panicked posts, and other wild theories.
- 9:01Communities in Tampa Bay, Manchester and Los Angeles
- 9:05shared tales of an invisible menace spreading like a shadow
- 9:09over their lives. Reports of illness became more
- 9:13frequent and severe. What started as mild headaches
- 9:17and sore throats escalated into alarming symptoms.
- 9:21People described burning sensations in their eyes,
- 9:25violent coughing fits, an overwhelming sense of fatigue
- 9:30that left them bedridden. One woman in Sydney claimed that
- 9:34she could barely eat for days, her stomach whisting into
- 9:39painful knots even after a few bites of food.
- 9:42And another man, again in Germany, reported an unshakable
- 9:47fever, the skin pale and clammy despite no diagnosis from
- 9:53perplexed doctors. And then there were the
- 9:56nightmares. People exposed to the fog
- 9:59described reoccurring dreams, a defied explanation.
- 10:04The dreams weren't fragmented or nonsensical like most, but vivid
- 10:10and terrifyingly coherent. A woman in Tampa Bay recounted
- 10:15seeing a glowing purple light hovering in the darkness,
- 10:18watching her and pulsing like a heartbeat thousands of miles
- 10:24away. A man in the UK described the
- 10:27exact same vision, down to the faint humming noise the light
- 10:32emitted. It felt alive, he wrote on
- 10:36social media, like it was waiting for something.
- 10:40Online forms buzzed with accounts of shared experiences
- 10:44of people who had never met, recounting identical imagery in
- 10:48their dreams. Some speculated the fog was not
- 10:52just a chemical phenomenon but a form of psychological
- 10:56manipulation, a weapon not of destruction but of control.
- 11:02As the fog thickened, it began to affect the world in ways that
- 11:06seemed impossible. In Boston, a neighborhood
- 11:10reported that street lights flickered and dimmed whenever
- 11:13the fog rolled in. In Los Angeles, Theo's roommates
- 11:18swore he saw their microwave spark to life on its own as a
- 11:22thicker patch of fog passed by their window.
- 11:26Over in Germany, residents noticed their car engines
- 11:29stuttering or outright failing when the haze enveloped their
- 11:33streets, as if it carried an electromagnetic pulse,
- 11:38disrupting anything it touched. But the strangest occurrences
- 11:43involved animals. In rural parts of Australia,
- 11:48farmers began reporting bizarre behavior among livestock.
- 11:52Entire herds of cattle stood frozen, staring into the fog as
- 11:57though hypnotized. Dogs barked and whimpered at
- 12:01empty fields, their ears pinned back and tails tucked.
- 12:07In a small village near Bavaria, a woman claimed to find dozens
- 12:11of dead birds strewn across her backyard one morning.
- 12:15Their tiny bodies were unscathed, yet their eyes were
- 12:19wide open, fixed in expressions of pure terror.
- 12:25It wasn't just the living creatures that were affected.
- 12:28People began finding their cars, homes, and even plants coated in
- 12:34that strange metallic residue. After the fog passed, attempts
- 12:39to clean it proved futile. It resisted scrubbing, pressure
- 12:43washing, and even industrial solvents.
- 12:47One man hired a professional cleaning service to remove the
- 12:50substance from his car. Two days and hundreds of dollars
- 12:54later, it disappeared on its own, as if it had never been
- 12:59there at all. In neighborhoods around the
- 13:02world, people stopped venturing outdoors.
- 13:06Schools closed, citing unusual environmental conditions.
- 13:11Supermarkets were overrun by panic shoppers stockpiling food,
- 13:16bottled water, and masks. Some communities took to burning
- 13:21incense or lighting candles in hopes that the smoke would ward
- 13:25off whatever toxins were lingering in the air.
- 13:29A few desperate individuals donned gas masks, their
- 13:32silhouettes hauntingly dystopian as they wandered through the
- 13:37fog. By January 15th, the fog had
- 13:41enveloped large swaths of the globe.
- 13:44Governments maintained their stance, calling it a seasonal
- 13:47anomaly, but their reassurances rang hollow.
- 13:52People who had experienced the fog first hand knew better.
- 13:56Hospitals were quietly filling with patients suffering from
- 13:59unexplained respiratory illnesses.
- 14:02Schools and offices in affected areas began implementing fog
- 14:06days where operations ceased until the haze lifted.
- 14:11EO watching from his Los Angeles suburb, it feel the tension
- 14:16tightening like a noose around his community.
- 14:19Cars sat idle in driveways, Their owners, who weary to leave
- 14:25the streets once alive with noise and movement, had fallen
- 14:29eerily silent. And one night, unable to sleep,
- 14:33Theo stepped onto his porch and stared into the fog.
- 14:37The chemical taste clung to the back of his throat, and for the
- 14:41first time, he felt a presence. He couldn't see anything through
- 14:46the swirling Gray, but he felt certain that something was out
- 14:50there watching. It was no longer a question of
- 14:54what the fog was, but what it wanted.
- 14:58But whatever the answer, EO wasn't sure the world was ready
- 15:04to know. As I mentioned at the beginning
- 15:07of this video, on top of other people's experiences with this
- 15:10strange fog, me and my fiance Megan had our own experiences as
- 15:15well. On December 25th of 2024,
- 15:20Christmas night, we felt called almost to head back down to
- 15:25Kentucky to explore some caves together with our friend Bob
- 15:30from Tales from the Dark. Over the last year we have
- 15:33explored many places including caves, but the fact that it was
- 15:37almost a collective fever to do this was interesting to say the
- 15:41least. So after hanging out with mostly
- 15:45my family that day and giving and unwrapping gifts, roughly as
- 15:50the sun went down the thick fog too began to roll into our area.
- 15:56I noticed it became exceptionally thick when we are
- 15:59getting gas before we decided to hit the road start the long
- 16:03multi state trip. We were going to go from Kansas
- 16:06to southern Missouri and then from there Bob would take over
- 16:10from me and on to Somerset, KY roughly a 13 or 14 hour drive if
- 16:17I'm not mistaken. From the moment that we left our
- 16:19town with the fog rolling in, the first thing I noticed was
- 16:24that bizarre smell of gunpowder. It was reminiscent of the 4th of
- 16:29July and or a heavy chimney fire.
- 16:32And I have to say that it hits differently when it's cold
- 16:35outside as well. And that day it was about 15°F.
- 16:40I began to drive us and the visual restrictions due to the
- 16:43fog were heavy. I thought the more I drove.
- 16:46Out of Kansas, more would dissipate.
- 16:50That indeed. Would not be the case.
- 16:52Because all of. Kansas and Missouri were
- 16:54blanketed in this thick misty fog due to where we started and
- 16:59where we ended up going to meet Bob.
- 17:01It continued down to Kentucky. I drove almost the full length
- 17:05of Kansas and then Missouri. While I was driving I noticed.
- 17:10A large amount of animals. Outside, I counted 68 in total
- 17:15of all kinds from deer, opossums, dunks, raccoons,
- 17:21frogs. And squirrels it.
- 17:24Was just odd to see. So many.
- 17:26Wandering about as if lost or confused.
- 17:30And having made that drive multiple times, it was
- 17:33definitely unnerving to. Say the least.
- 17:36As I'd never seen that many animals out in a single drive.
- 17:40As I kept driving. I noticed a strange debris or
- 17:44film that kept forming on our. Windshield.
- 17:47It was streaky. And smeared almost like a heavy
- 17:50dirt or mud, but fortunately. It did keep.
- 17:54Washing off with our washer. Fluid and wipers we.
- 17:57Would drive through some fog, headed from Missouri to
- 18:00Kentucky. But it.
- 18:01Was all but gone by the time we reached Somerset.
- 18:05I however. Like many people.
- 18:07Got sick? Following driving through it,
- 18:10but fortunately it only lasted for roughly 24 hours.
- 18:14While we were there. Heading back to the same eerie
- 18:17fog, it continued to be both unnerving as well as a visual
- 18:21impairment hazard heading through Missouri and then to
- 18:24Kansas and back. To our house.
- 18:26Roughly a day and a few hours. Later overall was a short trip.
- 18:30For those wandering, I again found myself.
- 18:33Sick with the. Exact same symptoms I had
- 18:35previously had while we were in Kentucky after driving through
- 18:38the fog the first time. I also noticed while driving on
- 18:42the way back the same exact debris smearing on my windshield
- 18:46and windows. But after getting back home and
- 18:49what have you and the fog dissipating.
- 18:51Several days after. Being back, once I was feeling
- 18:54better I assumed any dirt or. What have you was just from the
- 18:58drive itself. I washed it off my car, although
- 19:02I didn't realize things at the time.
- 19:05It could have perhaps had a weird color to it.
- 19:08And maybe I didn't notice, but fortunately for me.
- 19:12It did wash off as opposed to others.
- 19:15My cousin Brett, also known as Phobicon here on YouTube was the
- 19:191st to tell me about the. Fog.
- 19:21But I didn't realize there was more to it at. 1st.
- 19:24I also didn't realize just how. Far it had reached.
- 19:27And that me and thousands of other people not only had
- 19:30similar experiences, but some people arguably had a much worse
- 19:34time than I did dealing with whatever.
- 19:36This haze, or fog truly was. Was it some kind of chemical
- 19:41agent, wrapped environmental debris or pollution and regular?
- 19:46Fog. Like many have said or something
- 19:49else? I can't be so sure.
- 19:52Although I'd like to think it was just some kind of pollution
- 19:55and although I did very much get sick dealing with it multiple
- 19:58times. It's also important to note that
- 20:01it is cold and flu season. There have also been many
- 20:04stomach viruses going around. The correlation doesn't always
- 20:08mean causation. There very well could have been
- 20:11an outside. Factor, but either way it
- 20:14certainly. Was strange, but what do you
- 20:16think? And did you also have an
- 20:18experience with this? Weird fog.
- 20:21Let me know down in the comments below.
- 20:24I did also want to thank my friend over.
- 20:25At what lurks beneath. For also encouraging me to make
