- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities CE OS and even royalty Adam Cox, these
- 0:21recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's world
- 0:24famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here, and you're about to listen to a hypnosis
- 0:43session all about having the confidence to open up in social
- 0:49situations and perhaps share anecdotes.
- 0:53Tell stories. Be willing to share your
- 0:56opinions about any topic that you want.
- 1:00And I was working with a client that felt that they couldn't do
- 1:04that, that because their nature was to be a bit more shy and
- 1:08introverted, that they felt that they weren't really able to
- 1:13share who they were and their own experiences.
- 1:17So a lot of this hypnosis session is all about unleashing
- 1:22this in a storyteller, this raconteur.
- 1:26And when you think of the term raconteur, at least for me, I
- 1:30think of it as someone effortlessly telling stories,
- 1:34weaving different narratives in a very kind of charismatic way.
- 1:39And that could be quite difficult to do if you haven't
- 1:42had much experience. Doing that.
- 1:45So this hypnosis session uses a metaphor of a advanced virtual
- 1:51reality headset that can actually re experience memories
- 1:55either as a an observer or experiential to enable the
- 2:00client to see moments of the past where they didn't quite
- 2:04share what they wanted to share. And almost like a time loop
- 2:07movie like Groundhog Day or what I saw a couple of years ago was
- 2:13Palm Springs, where everything repeats, the day repeats.
- 2:18This enables them to repeat the moment, but changing it until
- 2:22they get it just right. And then when they do, stepping
- 2:24into that and then feeling more comfortable that they can
- 2:28actually bank these stories and these opinions.
- 2:33But mainly it's to tap in to a feeling of confidence within
- 2:37that context. Because if you feel
- 2:40unresourceful, even if you've got a great story to tell, you
- 2:43probably aren't going to tell it.
- 2:45If you feel confident, then you'd be willing.
- 2:47To tell that. Story.
- 2:49So it's really about feeling worthy and deserving and that
- 2:53you have permission to share what you want to share, but also
- 2:58knowing that that doesn't guarantee that you're always
- 3:00going to get good feedback. You might tell a story to
- 3:03someone and they're bored by it and someone else is captivated.
- 3:07So there's also this element of perspective that not one bit of
- 3:12feedback means that it's not worthy for you to tell that
- 3:16story. I think people like how I used
- 3:20to be. I used to be very shy, very
- 3:22introverted, very withdrawn in in social situations.
- 3:27I think this hypnosis session would have been very useful for
- 3:30me 20 years ago. So if you can relate to these
- 3:33kind of things, then I think you will benefit a lot from this
- 3:36session. Be aware though, that it was
- 3:38created for an individual and some of the suggestions might
- 3:41have been perfect for them and not quite right for you.
- 3:44So you can just accept the suggestions that are useful,
- 3:48disregard any that aren't. And if you do like the idea of
- 3:52having something a bit more bespoke to you, there will be a
- 3:56link in the description where you can schedule a free
- 3:58consultation call. And then we can have a chat.
- 4:01We'll probably have a chat right here in my, my studio.
- 4:04You'll be on Zoom and then you can ask me questions and I can
- 4:07explain the process of how I actually work with people.
- 4:10So rather than just listening to sessions recorded for other
- 4:13people, you will actually experience a live hypnosis
- 4:16session with me. So if that's of interest, check
- 4:20out that link in the description.
- 4:22For now though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 4:24won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 4:48Take a deep breath in and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 4:57feeling of quiet relaxation. And as you exhale, just feel
- 5:09that sense of release, as if any tension, stress and worries
- 5:18adjust, leaving your body in your outward breath, breathing
- 5:26in relaxation and exhaling tension.
- 5:32That's it. And as you breathe in and
- 5:36breathe out, perhaps you start to notice any clues of tension,
- 5:47stress, any blocks there in your body, and just allow yourself to
- 5:55feel that you can let go. And it might be tension in the
- 6:00forehead or the jaw or the neck and the shoulders.
- 6:07And just imagine, as you breathe out, you're letting go of that
- 6:12tension, enabling you to feel deeper and more relaxed.
- 6:23And the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you feel and the
- 6:30more relaxed you feel, the deeper you breathe.
- 6:35Each breath takes you deeper and deeper.
- 6:41Relaxed hands in and as your body relaxes, your imagination
- 6:52awakens, and I want you to imagine what it would be like to
- 7:00be in a futuristic laboratory. I want you to imagine walking
- 7:13through the halls of a College in Cambridge and discovering a
- 7:19lab focused on computer science, augmented reality, and virtual
- 7:27reality. And I want you to imagine seeing
- 7:33cutting edge technology as you walk into the lab.
- 7:38Just imagine seeing the most advanced VR headset ever
- 7:47created. Because ordinarily virtual
- 7:53reality can only place you in the three-dimensional realm that
- 8:02is programmed into the software, the application of that headset.
- 8:10But I want you to imagine that this headset can take you back
- 8:15to a memory as you breathe in and breathe down.
- 8:22Just notice the look of this VR headset.
- 8:30And whereas our realities follow time in a linear form that only
- 8:39moves forwards, technology can mean you can go back to a
- 8:50moment. Isn't that what a photo or a
- 8:54video is seeing A moment from the past?
- 8:59But sometimes it brings up emotions similar to what you
- 9:05experienced at the time. And I want you to imagine,
- 9:13imagine putting on that VR headset and initially going back
- 9:19to a memory where you felt confident and relaxed.
- 9:27Doesn't need to be a social situation, just a time when you
- 9:32felt confident and relaxed. And I want you to imagine you're
- 9:41back in that place, feeling that confidence and feeling that
- 9:48relaxation and just being back in that moment makes you feel
- 9:58good. And I wonder if you can notice
- 10:02where in your body you feel that confidence and then just start
- 10:10amplifying that confidence. Make the confidence even more
- 10:18intense. Feel what it would feel like to
- 10:24have even more confidence and then notice if relaxation is
- 10:32somewhere else. Maybe relaxation is just
- 10:38noticing how loose you feel, how easy it is to breathe in and
- 10:44out, the overall feeling of a lack of rigidity in any muscles
- 10:53feeling fluid. Or maybe relaxation is the pace
- 11:00of any inner dialogue. Slow, deliberate.
- 11:05Or maybe the clue is your breathing rate, long and slow,
- 11:15and just imagine amplifying that relaxation.
- 11:20So whatever relaxation you feel, you're able to feel even more of
- 11:28it. And when you feel confident and
- 11:33relaxed, it's time to move to a different memory.
- 11:41Because this is about unleashing your ability to feel confident,
- 11:52sharing your past, your experiences, to not need
- 11:58permission to tell a story. And I want you to think of a
- 12:03moment in your past, perhaps recent, but it could be for many
- 12:10months or years ago, where you wanted to share more, tell a
- 12:18story, interact more, but didn't quite feel that you could.
- 12:28With this VR headset, you can just think of that place and
- 12:34then imagine being there. But I want you to imagine being
- 12:39there initially as an invisible observer.
- 12:45You're in the room, but not in your body.
- 12:49And I want you to imagine seeing yourself exactly as you were.
- 12:58Not worse, not better, not changing any emotions, just
- 13:03exactly as you were. And I want you to see you at a
- 13:11moment where there was an opportunity to make me tell a
- 13:16story to get involved, but you didn't.
- 13:26And I want you to imagine seeing it as it was.
- 13:32Then considering this a time loop, you get to replay this
- 13:39moment until it's exactly as you want it to be.
- 13:49The first iteration is reality as it was, but I want you to
- 13:55think from this third person perspective that you can change
- 14:03that version of you. Just imagine giving that version
- 14:08of you more confidence and seeing your posture and facial
- 14:11expressions change. Imagine giving that version of
- 14:18you more relaxation. Imagine dialling down the stakes
- 14:24so it feels like there's nothing major here, it's no big deal.
- 14:32And as you do that, allow that version of you to do it again,
- 14:40but differently. And I want you to project the
- 14:47possible anecdote, story, or take on what's being discussed.
- 14:57And as you do that, see that version of you speaking up more,
- 15:03sharing that anecdote, that story, that interesting take.
- 15:11But I want you to imagine you don't have one shot to get this
- 15:16right. You have infinite shots to get
- 15:21it right. If you could imagine seeing
- 15:24yourself with more confidence and relaxation still allow that
- 15:30take to get to the end as you consider yourself a director.
- 15:39A director making a movie might have 1020 or even 50 takes
- 15:46before they feel like they've got the right one.
- 15:52The moment one take has finished, loop it back to the
- 15:58beginning and see yourself trying a different version.
- 16:04Maybe a different story. Maybe see yourself talking
- 16:10louder. Maybe you see yourself with a
- 16:15different on ramp, a phrase that you use to start the story.
- 16:24Oh, I remember. When do you remember that time
- 16:31when that's really fascinating. And that reminds me of as you
- 16:40see yourself ramping into your own story, your own anecdote.
- 16:47Allow it to play out, just observing.
- 16:54But seeing you looking confident, looking relaxed,
- 16:59perhaps even playful. Everything is just a shot to
- 17:06nothing, A roll of the dice. Experienced comedians always
- 17:20test their material to small rooms of people to figure out
- 17:27what works before they go on a big tour.
- 17:31And when a joke doesn't work, they either refine it or discard
- 17:40it. The whole point is to figure out
- 17:47what works, and they keep what works, and they discard or
- 17:55refine anything that doesn't. And I want you to feel that you
- 18:01are a director of a version of you either refining or
- 18:07discarding anything that your intuition feels wouldn't work
- 18:15perfectly. Everything's an improvement, a
- 18:21refinement. And maybe you see yourself
- 18:26telling stories of funny moments, proud moments,
- 18:36coincidences, things that were surprising.
- 18:47And when it gets to the end, loop it again with a different
- 18:53telling of that story. You don't have to know all the
- 18:56details. You don't have to see yourself
- 19:00saying things word for word, but just see you being experimental,
- 19:09the idea of you saying different things in different ways.
- 19:17And maybe you change your body language more expressive in one
- 19:24and less in another. And sometimes when you lower
- 19:30your volume, people have to pay more attention to listen.
- 19:37I want you to see yourself testing all these different
- 19:42variables until you figure out what works.
- 19:46And when you found something that in that same context, you
- 19:53feel would have been a vast improvement and what you did do,
- 20:01play it one more time. This time, when it loops back to
- 20:07the beginning, imagine stepping into your body and feeling what
- 20:13it would feel like to not observe you telling the story,
- 20:18but feel what it would feel like to be the one telling the story.
- 20:24Feel that confidence, feel that relaxation, feel that the memory
- 20:34of the moment is what helps you tell that story.
- 20:41Not a script or words you have to remember, but a memory that
- 20:46you're recalling and then sharing.
- 20:49And I want you to feel authentic, genuine, feel
- 20:59attentive that if people are enjoying your story, you can
- 21:05elaborate and extend it, but also feel that you can wind it
- 21:13down if you don't feel comfortable sharing that story.
- 21:22And a story that might work well with one person might not work
- 21:28so well in a different place. I don't want you to feel you're
- 21:36just experimenting, just feeling comfortable.
- 21:43And each time you tell a story, share an anecdote or share an
- 21:48opinion on something, you are both telling and refining in
- 21:57real time. And the next time you share a
- 22:04similar opinion, anecdotal story, don't be surprised if it
- 22:10evolves naturally. And every time you tell it, your
- 22:16confidence grows, you feel more relaxed.
- 22:23And I want you to feel that you are unleashing your inner
- 22:27raconteur, a natural storyteller.
- 22:32But natural storytellers aren't born natural storytellers in the
- 22:40same way that an athlete isn't born an athlete.
- 22:45It's practice, repetition, and confidence that comes from
- 22:48experience. And every experience you have
- 22:54empowers your inner raconteur to feel empowered to tell your
- 23:02stories, share your anecdotes and share your opinions, your
- 23:07experiences. And if you can imagine feeling
- 23:12that, just let me know by nodding your head.
- 23:16That's it. And each time you listen to
- 23:20this, you will change the context and change the story,
- 23:25training your brain and building the very neural pathways needed
- 23:30so when you find yourself in real experiences, you will feel
- 23:34more empowered than ever before. And one final place to visit in
- 23:42this virtual reality is your future.
- 23:46One year from now, I want you to imagine seeing yourself a year
- 23:54of practising, sometimes with real people, and sometimes just
- 24:00thinking of stories or opinions that you have that you may or
- 24:06may not share in social situations.
- 24:10See yourself a year from now in the kind of context.
- 24:15Then you could evaluate all of that progress, see yourself like
- 24:21you're someone else, and now look how natural you look.
- 24:26Confident you look, relaxed and playful you look.
- 24:32That version of you is charismatic, authentic, real,
- 24:39genuine, and natural storyteller.
- 24:48To leave this experiment in your imagination and as you imagine
- 24:54taking the VI had set off, find yourself back there in that
- 25:01university lab of the future. But as you leave, feel like
- 25:06you're taking these resources with you, realizing this was a
- 25:11journey in your imagination, a journey of thoughts within
- 25:15thoughts, ideas within ideas, and dreams within dreams.
- 25:22And as you float back to your present, the here and the now,
- 25:27all of those thought strategies and resourceful emotions come
- 25:32flooding back with you as you feel excited to build a Bank of
- 25:39wonderful things to share. Very soon I will count from 1:00
- 25:45to 10:00 to awaken you. And you will awaken feeling
- 25:49resourceful, inspired, eager to build up your bank.
- 25:56So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 26:00nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 26:02wiggle your toes. That's it.
- 26:03Connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 26:09from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 26:13Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 26:21Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910.
- 26:25Wide awake. Wide awake.
