- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from kf I
- 0:03Speaker 1: am six forty and now Handle on the news. Ladies
- 0:14Speaker 1: and gentlemen, here's Bill Handle. Hey, good morning everybody. Handle
- 0:36Speaker 1: morning crew, well almost the morning crew, all of them
- 0:39Speaker 1: were missing one. It's a Monday morning, mate, eleventh fan.
- 0:44Speaker 2: We do not have Neil this morning. Neil is feeling ill.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I think his son donated kidney is exploding on him.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I have no idea if that's the case or not.
- 0:56Speaker 2: It's the explosive the explode kid syndrome, which a lot
- 1:02Speaker 2: of people have who have received donated kidneys. All right,
- 1:05Speaker 2: so Neil is not here this morning, so it'll be
- 1:08Speaker 2: Amy and me doing the news sans Neil.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Good morning, Amy, Good morning Bill.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Oh yeah, happy camper is here.
- 1:17Speaker 3: We go always.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you actually are a happy camper. I'm not. I'm
- 1:22Speaker 2: rarely a happy camper. Yes, we're ying, yange. That's correct,
- 1:30Speaker 2: that's absolutely correct. All right, Cono, good morning, Good morning Bill.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Maybe it's virus. Maybe it is haunta virus.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Maybe it's not.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's pretty hard. Well get you actually get haunted.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I'm not scared of it because I never go outside,
- 1:47Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I have to have close contact with people.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Yuck.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. You know I have a second job.
- 1:53Speaker 2: You know that. Yeah, I've finished. I start my second
- 1:57Speaker 2: job around noon, and in the mornings I walk or
- 2:01Speaker 2: work out or go to yoga or whatever I do,
- 2:03Speaker 2: which is still crazy in it of itself. I can't
- 2:06Speaker 2: believe I'd ever do that. And then about noon I
- 2:08Speaker 2: start my second job, which I needed a job just
- 2:12Speaker 2: to keep busy. And so I go to work. And
- 2:17Speaker 2: what do you do. I go and sit on my
- 2:19Speaker 2: couch and watch TV for the rest of the day.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I have that same second job.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yes, that's true, you do because your wait, yea, what
- 2:28Speaker 2: do you do in the morning when you're done? Because
- 2:30Speaker 2: you're out of there by ten thirty.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, I usually leave the station by eleven. I
- 2:36Speaker 4: have my daily nap because I don't get enough sleep
- 2:38Speaker 4: at night, so I take a half hour nap and
- 2:41Speaker 4: then you have the rest of the day. And it's
- 2:43Speaker 4: one of the reasons I can binge watch so many
- 2:45Speaker 4: shows that I get to talk about on wake up call.
- 2:48Speaker 2: You know, I don't understand these power nap things. People
- 2:52Speaker 2: will nap for twenty minutes, thirty minutes and they wake
- 2:54Speaker 2: up refreshed. I nap for twenty minutes and I am
- 2:57Speaker 2: groggy for the rest of the day. Same I can.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Yeah, really see if I take a longer nap, that's
- 3:06Speaker 4: when I get coke coma toast.
- 3:08Speaker 3: I just need to rest for a little bit. Yeah,
- 3:12Speaker 3: I just I don't You also go to bed earlier?
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yeah? What time do you go to bed?
- 3:17Speaker 3: Me on a good day by eight? Yeah, actually a
- 3:21Speaker 3: little bit later.
- 3:22Speaker 2: And uh and good morning to you. And what time
- 3:25Speaker 2: do you go to What time do you go to bed? Ten? Ten? Oh,
- 3:28Speaker 2: see that's late, that's late. Will What time do you
- 3:32Speaker 2: go to bed? Probably about ten? Yeah, okay, pretty late
- 3:35Speaker 2: in Cono because I know you, uh drive an hour
- 3:38Speaker 2: to get out here. What time do you go to bed? Eleven? Really?
- 3:43Speaker 2: I usually get off my second.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Job like eleven. Oh when do you sleep? Eleven thirty
- 3:50Speaker 3: to three?
- 3:52Speaker 2: I just wan to sleep pretty quick. You sleep four
- 3:55Speaker 2: and four four and a half hours is what you
- 3:58Speaker 2: lit mine? Correct? Well? And you a kid that wakes
- 4:00Speaker 2: you up in the middle of all hours too? Yeah,
- 4:03Speaker 2: well the one you know? Do they both wake you
- 4:06Speaker 2: up sometimes? That's great? So what's your second job? Why
- 4:10Speaker 2: don't you share that with all of us.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I just worked for another media company for sports.
- 4:16Speaker 2: See I knew that. I just wanted to get you
- 4:19Speaker 2: actually the name the company, hopefully for a competing company
- 4:23Speaker 2: as against iHeart. All right, guys, we don't have Neil today,
- 4:27Speaker 2: but we do have Amy, we do have me, and
- 4:31Speaker 2: let's do it. It's time for Handle on the news
- 4:35Speaker 2: with Amy and Neil and me and lead story. The
- 4:39Speaker 2: President has rejected Iran's latest offer for talks. No surprise,
- 4:45Speaker 2: as the President keeps on saying they're desperate to have
- 4:49Speaker 2: some kind of a deal. They're calling constantly. They really
- 4:52Speaker 2: want to deal. Maybe not because the latest offer from
- 4:57Speaker 2: Iran does not involved nuclear it's nuclear capabilities, or its drones,
- 5:04Speaker 2: or its ballistic missiles, or its support of terrorist groups
- 5:08Speaker 2: and organizations throughout the world. It basically only has to
- 5:13Speaker 2: do with opening up the Strait and they're not going
- 5:17Speaker 2: to open until other other aspects have been accepted. Nope,
- 5:22Speaker 2: not going to happen. We're still going to ceasefire. Remember
- 5:24Speaker 2: the ceasefire was going to end tonight. I was going
- 5:27Speaker 2: to end on Wednesday, it was going to end next week,
- 5:30Speaker 2: and then it's going to end whenever it ends. So
- 5:33Speaker 2: right now, the ceasefire continues on and extended, and a
- 5:38Speaker 2: duration of which no one has any idea while talks
- 5:41Speaker 2: are going on, and there's a lot going on with
- 5:44Speaker 2: that which I'm sure we're going to explore big time.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Iran says it put forward a generous proposal.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Of course it did.
- 5:50Speaker 3: That's their comment today.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Yea, naturally, Yeah, Trump's not going to walk away with
- 5:55Speaker 2: this one without being stained somewhat because the Strait of
- 5:59Speaker 2: Horn moves, which has never been closed. It's been an
- 6:02Speaker 2: international waterway, even though Iran clearly has the ability to
- 6:06Speaker 2: shut it down, as it has just been proven, it
- 6:09Speaker 2: never did shut down the strait, and now not so
- 6:14Speaker 2: good now, And the longer this goes on, the more
- 6:17Speaker 2: the president is going to be blamed for it, and
- 6:19Speaker 2: legitimately so, because it was an arbitrary decision that he made. Now.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I happen to agree with shutting Iran's ability for nuclear
- 6:27Speaker 2: weapons down and keeping its enrichment program going, but he
- 6:32Speaker 2: didn't do it so well. He woke up one morning
- 6:35Speaker 2: and said this is what we're doing. He did not
- 6:38Speaker 2: converse or coordinate any aspect of this with our allies,
- 6:42Speaker 2: which we don't have anymore anymore. In Western Europe. So
- 6:46Speaker 2: I think that's where he's going to get nailed, and
- 6:48Speaker 2: didn't anticipate, did not anticipate Iran having this kind of
- 6:52Speaker 2: fortitude Iran, remember it was the army has been obliterated.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Its ability to deal with or enrich enrich uranium has
- 7:06Speaker 2: been obliterated, Its ability to fight has been obliterated. We
- 7:11Speaker 2: won the war the first hour. They're desperate to have
- 7:15Speaker 2: a peace talk. Yeah, not so much, not so much.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Okay, moving on, they're back.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Seventeen Americans have been flown back to the US after
- 7:24Speaker 4: they were finally allowed to get off that cruise ship
- 7:27Speaker 4: that has suffered a hantavirus outbreak. So the ship anchored
- 7:34Speaker 4: in the Canary Islands after some back and forth because
- 7:37Speaker 4: Canary Islands said no, we don't want you pulling up
- 7:39Speaker 4: to port here, but Spain said yes, they're going to.
- 7:42Speaker 4: So then they had medical personnel in hasmat gear and
- 7:47Speaker 4: breathing masks escorting the people off the ship to shore
- 7:51Speaker 4: in tana Reef. And then the passengers from nineteen different
- 7:55Speaker 4: countries all got on their respective planes and have been
- 7:57Speaker 4: flown home. We got seventeen of them there in Nebraska.
- 8:02Speaker 2: At the medical Center, which has I think one of,
- 8:06Speaker 2: if not the most sophisticated quarantine medical facility in the country.
- 8:11Speaker 4: Yeah, And one of the seventeen has tested positive for
- 8:15Speaker 4: hantavirus but isn't showing symptoms. Another person has mild symptoms
- 8:20Speaker 4: but it hasn't been confirmed yet if they have the virus.
- 8:23Speaker 2: And the French lady is the one who has been
- 8:26Speaker 2: tested and has come down with pretty severe symptoms, Do
- 8:29Speaker 2: I have that right?
- 8:30Speaker 3: Yep?
- 8:31Speaker 4: Okay, these two have a lot to talk about. President
- 8:36Speaker 4: Trump and Chinese President Hijin Ping are going to be
- 8:39Speaker 4: discussing Iran, Taiwan, ai nuclear weapons and more. Trump's making
- 8:46Speaker 4: a two day trip to China. It's their first face
- 8:49Speaker 4: to face talks in more than six months. Trump arrives
- 8:53Speaker 4: in Beijing on Wednesday ahead of talks set to take
- 8:56Speaker 4: place Thursday and Friday. It's going to be for his
- 8:58Speaker 4: first trip to China since twenty seven.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Team.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Yeah, there's be a lot to talk about. The United
- 9:05Speaker 2: States is really looking at some big issues, as is China.
- 9:09Speaker 2: But I think it's the US going to be asking
- 9:12Speaker 2: China for a lot more than China is going to
- 9:14Speaker 2: be asking for the US. The big deal is going
- 9:18Speaker 2: to be Iran. Well, actually they are all big deals.
- 9:20Speaker 2: You have the Iran situation, and keep in mind that
- 9:22Speaker 2: what ninety percent of Iranian oil is sold to China
- 9:26Speaker 2: and they are considered allies. And then you have the
- 9:30Speaker 2: rare earth that China controls, I think ninety percent of
- 9:33Speaker 2: the world market for that. Without rare earths, you can't
- 9:38Speaker 2: manufacture cell phones, a lot of electronics, so there's a lot.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Then you have the balance of the balance of trade
- 9:47Speaker 2: where the US by so much more than China does
- 9:50Speaker 2: of our products, and so's it's going to be very interesting.
- 9:54Speaker 2: We'll see what happens on that one.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Pete Hegxas says Senator Mark Kelly is at it again.
- 10:01Speaker 4: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has called for Senator Kelly to
- 10:05Speaker 4: be investigated over some comments he made about US weapons stockpiles.
- 10:10Speaker 4: He was on Face the Nation. Kelly was on Face
- 10:13Speaker 4: the Nation talking about US we stockpiles amid the Iran
- 10:17Speaker 4: warr and Kelly is accused by Hegseth of blabbing on
- 10:21Speaker 4: TV about a classified Pentagon briefing.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Kelly said, go ahead, go ahead.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Oh just that Kelly had said after he had had
- 10:29Speaker 4: those briefings about tomahawks and atacms's and Patriot rounds. He
- 10:35Speaker 4: found it shocking how deep we've gone into these magazines,
- 10:39Speaker 4: saying we've used up a lot of them.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Yep, and you know it's true. He did say that
- 10:44Speaker 2: our munitions are way down after reading about it in
- 10:47Speaker 2: the New York Times, watching stories about it on CNN,
- 10:51Speaker 2: did the all kinds of internet, what posts all over
- 10:57Speaker 2: it is common knowledge and what Hegseth is saying, oh,
- 11:00Speaker 2: you said that we have munitions and we have a
- 11:04Speaker 2: dearth musician of munitions. Therefore you've violated some kind of law.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I mean, that's crazy. I mean just it's insanity what
- 11:13Speaker 2: they're doing. You know, it's so ham handed. You would
- 11:17Speaker 2: think that they'd be a little bit more sophisticated about that.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Find something else instead of pure stupidity going against Mark Kelly.
- 11:26Speaker 2: So this is investigation number two. When this thing disappears,
- 11:31Speaker 2: which it will very very quickly, then there'll be investigation
- 11:34Speaker 2: number three and four. And of course the administration says,
- 11:38Speaker 2: oh no, no, this isn't retaliation at all. This is
- 11:42Speaker 2: just legitimately being concerned with our national Securityugh Tricia nuts
- 11:49Speaker 2: Taken on the DOJ.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Former President Biden apparently plans to intervene in litigation to
- 11:57Speaker 4: block the Trump administration's efforts to release seventy hours of
- 12:01Speaker 4: partially redacted audio recordings of interviews that Biden conducted in
- 12:05Speaker 4: twenty seventeen with a ghost writer. So Justice Department attorneys
- 12:11Speaker 4: say they've set a deadline of tomorrow for Biden to
- 12:14Speaker 4: take the legal action to block the release and hold
- 12:18Speaker 4: off on any disclosures of those seventy hours of tapes.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Yeah, and I wonder what those disclosures are. I mean,
- 12:25Speaker 2: if they dealt with national security, I can see that
- 12:29Speaker 2: anything that would be involved. But are they simply dealing
- 12:33Speaker 2: with his book writing that he's going to release a
- 12:37Speaker 2: book clearly, and so I don't know. And where do
- 12:41Speaker 2: you go with this?
- 12:42Speaker 4: It's probably about his mental capabilities. Can some of this
- 12:46Speaker 4: come out already?
- 12:48Speaker 3: Cases of it.
- 12:49Speaker 4: And they where he was confused and that kind of stuff,
- 12:52Speaker 4: And so that's what.
- 12:52Speaker 2: They want to actually, you know, again, let's this very
- 12:54Speaker 2: ham handed stuff. You know, we have a lot going on, guys.
- 12:57Speaker 2: You want to, you know, talk about something that's serious.
- 13:02Speaker 4: The bodies of two of at least one US soldier
- 13:06Speaker 4: has been found. One of the Americans who apparently fell
- 13:09Speaker 4: off a cliff while in Morocco has been recovered. First
- 13:14Speaker 4: Lieutenant Lamont Key Junior was one of two US service
- 13:18Speaker 4: members who went over the cliff a week ago in
- 13:21Speaker 4: waters off Morocco's Southern Course coast. The other person hasn't
- 13:27Speaker 4: been found yet. They haven't identified who that is, but
- 13:30Speaker 4: they are continuing to look for him now.
- 13:33Speaker 2: And there was an accident they were sightseeing. Both of
- 13:37Speaker 2: them fell into the water. I think one of them
- 13:39Speaker 2: fell into the water and then the other one tried.
- 13:41Speaker 3: To rescue him and the other one jumped in.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's you know how many there are. There
- 13:48Speaker 2: has to be several accidental deaths throughout the year when
- 13:51Speaker 2: you have armed forces in the hundreds of thousands of people.
- 13:56Speaker 2: So I'm wondering why this has become such a big deal,
- 13:59Speaker 2: not that it's not a big deal, but why this
- 14:01Speaker 2: story has legs. And I've often asked that of you, Amy,
- 14:05Speaker 2: because there may be half a dozen out there right now,
- 14:08Speaker 2: and one of these has just captured the imagination of
- 14:11Speaker 2: news outlets.
- 14:13Speaker 4: It may be because it happened during training exercises that
- 14:17Speaker 4: they were doing with NATO forces, and I think at
- 14:21Speaker 4: first they didn't know that. It happened during off duty
- 14:25Speaker 4: time while they were out.
- 14:26Speaker 3: On a hike.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, And right now NATO is the topic of conversation.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Whether we're going to stay in it or the president
- 14:33Speaker 2: is going to pull us out of NATO. That's up
- 14:36Speaker 2: in the air too.
- 14:38Speaker 4: An actor could get life in prison. Nick pass Squal,
- 14:43Speaker 4: he appeared on How I Met Your Mother, has been
- 14:45Speaker 4: found guilty of attempted murder. He apparently tried to kill
- 14:50Speaker 4: makeup artist and ex girlfriend Ali Sheehorn. It happened in
- 14:54Speaker 4: May of twenty twenty four. He stabbed Sheehorn, his ex girlfriend,
- 14:59Speaker 4: in her home and Shadow Hills up to twenty times,
- 15:03Speaker 4: and then was caught at a border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Could get life in state prison for that one.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Well, yeah, stabbing someone in multiple times generally does it.
- 15:15Speaker 2: It's hard to argue that I really didn't do it. It
- 15:19Speaker 2: was sort of an accident. No, No, it's pretty serious stuff.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Chat gpt A killer open AI is being sued by
- 15:29Speaker 4: the family of one of the people killed in the
- 15:32Speaker 4: April twenty twenty five mass shooting at Florida State University.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Two people were killed. The lawsuit claims that open AI's
- 15:40Speaker 4: chat gpt enabled the attack. It says that the shooter's
- 15:46Speaker 4: extensive conversations with chat gpt contributed to the murders. The
- 15:51Speaker 4: suit says that open ai failed to effectively detect a
- 15:56Speaker 4: threat and claimed that the chatbot either to effectively failed
- 16:01Speaker 4: to connect the dots or was never properly designed to
- 16:04Speaker 4: recognize a threat.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Yeah. Then I think if this goes forward, everybody who
- 16:10Speaker 2: has received some any kind of advice on how to shoot,
- 16:16Speaker 2: where to shoot, where to get a gun, any kind
- 16:19Speaker 2: of was considered help at all, they should all be
- 16:22Speaker 2: arrested or sued. Where do you think this one's going
- 16:24Speaker 2: to go? How about no place? Huh?
- 16:30Speaker 4: Scared out of the jungle. Political consultant Steve Maviglio has
- 16:35Speaker 4: filed an application with state officials to alter California's voting system.
- 16:40Speaker 4: You know, we have a jungle primary now, where the
- 16:42Speaker 4: top two finishers in a race go on to the
- 16:45Speaker 4: general election, regardless of party. Well, Maviglio filed this application
- 16:52Speaker 4: to switch it back to a traditional primary, where the
- 16:54Speaker 4: top candidates from each party would advance to the general election.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Why the change now, Well, because there's a distinct possibility
- 17:03Speaker 4: that two Republicans could be the top finishers in the
- 17:08Speaker 4: June primary election for governor of California, which would mean
- 17:12Speaker 4: only Republicans running in a heavily Democratic state.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, because you have five people running for governor
- 17:19Speaker 2: in the Democratic Party and two on the Republican side,
- 17:24Speaker 2: and one may well the five if they split up
- 17:27Speaker 2: the vote, they cannibalize each other and guess what, they
- 17:30Speaker 2: don't have enough votes for the one Republican that is
- 17:34Speaker 2: going to get it, and if one drops out then
- 17:36Speaker 2: there's no issue. And of the five, even though it
- 17:40Speaker 2: looks like a couple have broken out, you're going to
- 17:43Speaker 2: have the only way that's going to work is to
- 17:44Speaker 2: have the rest of the Democrats say, Okay, we're giving
- 17:47Speaker 2: it up and we're going to endorse the one or
- 17:50Speaker 2: two Democrats left. And they passed this because this was
- 17:56Speaker 2: a Prop. Forty I think, in which the imccotic party
- 18:01Speaker 2: I'm sorry, fifty fifty, that's close twenty thirty forty whatever,
- 18:06Speaker 2: and in which the Democrats figured out, well, let's get
- 18:09Speaker 2: just two Democrats. We'll never get a Republican aboard. Boy,
- 18:12Speaker 2: is that backfired?
- 18:13Speaker 3: Huh?
- 18:14Speaker 2: Oh? Wait?
- 18:15Speaker 4: Prop fifty was redistricting.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Sorry, never do that again. Okay, a little confusing. We
- 18:20Speaker 2: have a lot of.
- 18:21Speaker 4: Props Amazon is slow in its role on high speed
- 18:26Speaker 4: e bikes. Amazon has agreed to stop selling certain e
- 18:31Speaker 4: bikes in California that go faster than state speed limits.
- 18:36Speaker 4: California's Attorney General Rob Bonta issued a consumer alert last
- 18:39Speaker 4: month highlighting a rise in deaths related to crashes of
- 18:43Speaker 4: electric bikes and motorcycles. They said, if you want to
- 18:47Speaker 4: ride a motorcycle or a moped, you have to have
- 18:49Speaker 4: an appropriate driver's license, you have to comply with rules
- 18:52Speaker 4: of the road. And Bonta's alert stated that some pedal
- 18:56Speaker 4: assisted e bikes are not supposed to exceed twenty eight
- 18:59Speaker 4: miles by per hour, and others are supposed to only
- 19:03Speaker 4: go twenty miles per hour. But Amazon been selling them
- 19:05Speaker 4: and they go forty miles per hour.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Yeah, And which are the ones that can be modified?
- 19:10Speaker 2: That's the other issue. If Mamazon sells a bike that
- 19:15Speaker 2: is manufacturer to go twenty eight miles an hour or below,
- 19:19Speaker 2: that people buy them and modify them. That's another issue.
- 19:23Speaker 2: But it's true. I mean, we've all seen those crazy kids,
- 19:27Speaker 2: well those kids on the e bikes, you know, doing
- 19:30Speaker 2: wheelies and cutting in front of traffic and going between cars. Yeah,
- 19:34Speaker 2: I mean they're crazy, those kids.
- 19:38Speaker 4: Runover on the runway. A Frontier passenger jet has hit
- 19:44Speaker 4: a person who's trying to cross the runway at Denver
- 19:47Speaker 4: International Airport. They've released the security video showing. It's black
- 19:52Speaker 4: and white showing someone kind of strolling across the runway
- 19:57Speaker 4: right as a Frontier jet is getting ready to take
- 19:59Speaker 4: off and it hit him and killed him.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Does this sound like he was sucked into the engine
- 20:08Speaker 2: When you talk about the engine catching on fire as
- 20:10Speaker 2: supposed to be run over, Sure sounds that way. And
- 20:13Speaker 2: the engine, Yeah.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Because I was wondering how it would start an engine fire.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Well I think which adds to the story
- 20:22Speaker 2: is this guy who walked across the runway is a
- 20:26Speaker 2: magician who said just before now you see me, Now
- 20:31Speaker 2: you don't.
- 20:33Speaker 4: Bad?
- 20:34Speaker 2: Does that almost work?
- 20:35Speaker 3: Yes? Almost?
- 20:36Speaker 2: Okay, came close.
- 20:38Speaker 4: As KNO just played, it's time to get on the
- 20:42Speaker 4: road again. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has taken a road
- 20:48Speaker 4: trip across the country. It's called The Great American Road Trip,
- 20:51Speaker 4: five part reality series to air on YouTube to celebrate
- 20:55Speaker 4: the United States two hundred and fiftieth anniversary follows Duffy
- 21:00Speaker 4: as he, his wife and their nine kids cross the country.
- 21:05Speaker 4: The motto is to love America is to see America,
- 21:08Speaker 4: and of course he's already under attack for that, the
- 21:11Speaker 4: show drawing criticism from those who call it tone deaf
- 21:15Speaker 4: because average fuel prices are more than four to fifty
- 21:17Speaker 4: a gallon in the US, of course, is up to
- 21:19Speaker 4: six twenty two here in La. Former Transportation Secretary buddhaj
- 21:24Speaker 4: Edge was one of the first to pile on, saying
- 21:26Speaker 4: this is brutally out of touch.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Now I have a question, and I've often said, I've
- 21:31Speaker 2: often asked this question, how does President Trump choose a
- 21:37Speaker 2: cabinet member? We know the number one criteria is complete
- 21:44Speaker 2: absolute loyalty to the president, having absolutely no independent thought whatsoever.
- 21:50Speaker 2: It's whatever the President says goes. So you're not looking
- 21:54Speaker 2: at any cabinet member who has any kind of independent thought. Okay,
- 21:59Speaker 2: that's reason number one. Reason number two, does the potential
- 22:03Speaker 2: candidate has that potential candidate had a show on Fox?
- 22:08Speaker 2: And if the answer is yes, the chances of a
- 22:12Speaker 2: cabinet appointment are increased dramatically. And here we go, I mean,
- 22:18Speaker 2: give me a break, would you please? Now? It can
- 22:21Speaker 2: we argue that Pete Boodhagic didn't have any transportation experience,
- 22:25Speaker 2: which is true. He was actually he was the mayor
- 22:29Speaker 2: of Indianapolis. Wasn't that has claim to fame. He came
- 22:34Speaker 2: in as the mayor, and so you don't need credentials
- 22:38Speaker 2: to be the president. Donald Trump won the presidency with
- 22:43Speaker 2: absolutely no political experience whatsoever.
- 22:46Speaker 3: He was the mayor of South Bend, Indiana.
- 22:48Speaker 2: There it is okay, it's close Indianapolis, South Bend, Indiana.
- 22:52Speaker 2: That both cities that we know nothing about or I
- 22:54Speaker 2: know nothing about. But there have been plenty of presidents
- 22:58Speaker 2: who have not had any elected experience whatsoever, and some
- 23:01Speaker 2: have had almost none, Abraham Lincoln being one, Dwight Eisenhower
- 23:06Speaker 2: having no experience. I think Andrew Jackson didn't have experience
- 23:11Speaker 2: in terms of elected office or administrative work. Dwight Eisenhower
- 23:17Speaker 2: had never been elected to an office, but plenty of
- 23:22Speaker 2: management experience, having run the Allied forces in World War Two.
- 23:30Speaker 2: So well, good idea to have a Fox show, not
- 23:34Speaker 2: a show on MSNBC or CNN. That pretty well precludes
- 23:39Speaker 2: you from ever being a cabinet member.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Dead on a train.
- 23:44Speaker 4: Six people have been found dead on a cargo train.
- 23:47Speaker 4: It happened or they were found in a box car
- 23:51Speaker 4: near a railyard in Laredo, Texas. The ages of the victims,
- 23:56Speaker 4: the origin of the train, origin of the train not
- 23:58Speaker 4: immediately released. Temperatures in Laredo yesterday hit a high of
- 24:03Speaker 4: ninety seven degrees, but official haven't said if that's what
- 24:07Speaker 4: caused the deaths.
- 24:08Speaker 3: They're investigating, and.
- 24:09Speaker 2: We don't know how long they were dead in the
- 24:13Speaker 2: box car, and then there is no word about why
- 24:16Speaker 2: they were in the box car. But it's pretty obvious
- 24:19Speaker 2: that they were trying to snink across the border. I mean,
- 24:23Speaker 2: that's sort of I think a given, and we'll see
- 24:25Speaker 2: what happens. At this point, they're still investigating, which is
- 24:28Speaker 2: legitimate saying we're investigating it and we don't we don't
- 24:32Speaker 2: have an answer for you.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Things got little heated over hot dogs. A fight broke
- 24:40Speaker 4: out between two street vendors early yesterday morning at the
- 24:43Speaker 4: corner of Santa Monica and San Vicente Boulevards in West Hollywood.
- 24:48Speaker 4: Apparently it's over a turf dispute because that's a prime
- 24:51Speaker 4: hot dog kart location. Larry Block owns the nearby business
- 24:55Speaker 4: block Party, who described the situation as turf wars light
- 25:00Speaker 4: the ongoing concerns among local business owners about unlicensed street
- 25:04Speaker 4: vendors and.
- 25:06Speaker 2: The politics of this having these street vendors on the
- 25:09Speaker 2: street period, the politics of that because the city city
- 25:13Speaker 2: council issues permits for street vendors to be on the
- 25:18Speaker 2: street selling hot dogs and fruit, et cetera. And the
- 25:21Speaker 2: businesses around there are not very happy about it. But
- 25:24Speaker 2: the politics around this also, you think they have more
- 25:27Speaker 2: turf wars. Remember the story we did about the Batman.
- 25:31Speaker 2: The Batman fight at the Chinese theater where these people
- 25:36Speaker 2: dress up in various costumes of superheroes. You can take
- 25:39Speaker 2: pictures and you pay twenty bucks or fifteen dollars, and
- 25:42Speaker 2: you have foreign tourists who snapped these pictures. And remember
- 25:47Speaker 2: the two Batmen were just beat each other senseless and
- 25:52Speaker 2: were carted off to the hospital. That was a great story.
- 25:56Speaker 2: I really enjoy that. Do we have time for what
- 25:58Speaker 2: more we did? Yeah? We do.
- 26:00Speaker 4: Now that's a rock. A massive ruby has been unearthed
- 26:06Speaker 4: in Burma. It's being hailed as the second largest ever.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Of course, Burma a conflict ridden country. The ruby weighs
- 26:13Speaker 4: about eleven thousand carrots. That's four zero point eight pounds.
- 26:17Speaker 4: Was discovered in the Mandalay region, So it's half the
- 26:20Speaker 4: size of another ruby that was discovered in nineteen ninety six.
- 26:25Speaker 4: That one was twenty one thousand, four hundred and fifty carrots.
- 26:29Speaker 4: But apparently this new one could be even more valuable
- 26:32Speaker 4: because it's got a higher quality.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Yeah, this one is about five pounds.
- 26:38Speaker 4: And they don't look very pretty in their original form.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Well, very few do. When you look at, for example,
- 26:43Speaker 2: a diamond in the rough, it looks pretty rough and
- 26:46Speaker 2: then it's cut into carrots. Facets never figured out how
- 26:51Speaker 2: the carry. There is a background as to why they
- 26:54Speaker 2: call it a carrot, and I used to know that,
- 26:57Speaker 2: but I don't because my memory is fase at a
- 27:00Speaker 2: very rapid pace. Okay, coming up, we talked about this earlier.
- 27:06Speaker 2: The all GOP governor's race may have two Republicans running
- 27:11Speaker 2: for governor in the general election. How is that possible.
- 27:15Speaker 2: I'll explain that one when we come back. KFI Am sixty.
- 27:20Speaker 3: You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Catch My show Monday through Friday six am to nine am,
- 27:26Speaker 2: and anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app,
