- 1:41Hello, operator, operator, got me the office of John J.
- 1:45Malone. The American Broadcasting Company presents The Amazing Mister Malone. An exciting half
- 1:57hour of mystery is darring Jean Raymond. Our locale is the city of Chicago.
- 2:04The time for presence. I'm a hero of these weekly adventures, the
- 2:08amazing mister Malone. Malone is the name John J. Malone, attorney and
- 2:27counselor at law. To night, I want to take my chex for mas
- 2:30Fables. It was who first observed that appearances can be deceiving. Of course,
- 2:36he was thinking of the wolf and cheap clothing that he might just as
- 2:38well have had Carl Riker in mind. Mister Riker is the tall, poetic
- 2:42looking gentleman in the rear of a cadillaccident tearing down Chicago's Southside in the rain.
- 2:46If you were judging solely by appearances, you'd say, here's a gentleman
- 2:50and a scholar, and you'd be right. No students could be more diligent
- 2:53than he is in his search for the truth much further Michael, Nah,
- 2:58it's the Las's house on this block, that one. Yeah, anyway you
- 3:05want, I should wait out here for as you will. In that case,
- 3:07I think I'm going and watch the fun Uh hey, well you're looking
- 3:12at it for excuse me if I fail to admire the beauties of nature right
- 3:15now? Just uh, just what are you thinking on doing, mister Rager,
- 3:20I hardly know myself. I'm such a creature of impulse. A friend,
- 3:31Yes, mister Cromwell, right, so nice to know you. My
- 3:36name is Riker Raggers. Yes, I'm just gentlemen, mister Michael. What
- 3:40do you boys want? May we? Uh? My name means little to
- 3:46you, mister Cromwell. That my wife would mean more. The given name
- 3:52is Laura, Laura Riker is your incredible, isn't it? What do you
- 3:59want here? I'm a peculiar sort of a man, mister Cromwell. I
- 4:01have an unusual fixation. You're familiar with psychiatry. No, Well, an
- 4:06analyst would say to me, I have very strong acquisitive instincts, definitely antisocial.
- 4:13Right, I can't bring myself to share any of my belongings. Look,
- 4:16I can get to the point you must forgive me said, I do
- 4:19have a tendency to wander anytime I do. Please don't hesitate a very simple
- 4:25thing. Have you worth mentioning your life? Crazy? Hey? Put that
- 4:30gun away, mister Rucker. I didn't bargain for nothing like that. No,
- 4:33I'm sure you didn't. I listen, mister, you got this all
- 4:35wrong. I've not got it with your wife? Ask Laura, tell you
- 4:40you disappoint me, mister Cromwell, I expected better of you. What are
- 4:44you afraid of? Have you ever read Aristophomy? No? Well, but
- 4:47it was he who wrote but what is death but an eternal sleep? So
- 4:53I say to you, pleasant dreams, mister Cromwell. No, don't,
- 5:10Dave. I'm so glad I decided to take all right, who's there?
- 5:25Well, I'm sorry to bother you, but I'm looking for a Dave Cromwell?
- 5:30Are you? Did you have a brother named George? You mean?
- 5:33Did I have a better? Thank you? Nasty night, isn't it?
- 5:42Don't tell me you dropped in just to get in out of the rain.
- 5:44Well, I hardly know where to begin. You might try the beginning,
- 5:48all right? An hour ago we got a call from the superintendent of your
- 5:51brother's place. So when we got down there, we found him murdered.
- 5:58He'd been shot twice. You wouldn't have any idea at all. I realized
- 6:02what a shock this must be, mister Cromwell. If you'd like, I
- 6:06can come back later. You do that You wouldn't want to venture? No,
- 6:10I wouldn't. I'm sorry. Yeah, sure, Well, good night,
- 6:15Good night missus Cromwell, darling, you're not going on? Do you
- 6:19hear what I said? Hey? What are you doing? You give me
- 6:27that gun? Did you know who killed George? I got a pretty good
- 6:30idea. Take care of him, Darling. Listen to me? Why should
- 6:34I when you don't listen to mean not? Go on? Get it?
- 6:38Got a lot of work to do tonight. Serious swaying on the south side,
- 6:55George Cromwell, age thirty one. Laura, you are a darling.
- 7:00I was talking to you. What do you want, Carl? Would you
- 7:05care to see the paper? No? Thanks? No, Angel, I
- 7:09can't understand you. You can. You seem to have no desire to keep
- 7:13up with what's going on in the world. These are momentous times. Love.
- 7:17Every day brings something new and take to night's edition for example, right
- 7:21here on the first page, Carl, I want to talk to you.
- 7:25Of course there I'm all is I want a divorce? Disappoint me? I
- 7:29thought we were going to have a serious talk. I am serious. You
- 7:31can't be. You've been through this before. You know how I feel?
- 7:34Yes, you, Oh, I want a divorce, Karl. Perhaps you'd
- 7:40better read this truth A serious slaying on SASA. The young man's name was
- 7:46Cromwell. Didn't you know someone by that name? You killed him? Darling,
- 7:54you're jumping to conclusion. Not so loud, Laura, what will the
- 7:58servants think? Shall we continue our discussion of divorce? I'll pay you back
- 8:03to this upset. Go to sleep, La, you feel better in the
- 8:07morning. Larry's barn Groove. It's mister Michaels there. Hey you boys,
- 8:28seen Kalkie Michaels around. I'm sorry, Pelly in here. Well, if
- 8:33he should come in when you please ask him to call mister Carl Riker.
- 8:37That's it again, r I kay, oh, oh, it's funny.
- 8:48Hey you guys. Ever hear of a Carl Riker before? I got a
- 8:54feeling? I just heard the last It was just one of those things,
- 9:11just one of those crazy things, one of those bills that now and then
- 9:16rings, Just one of those things. It was just one of those nights,
- 9:22just one of those fat moms. You know. I thought you were
- 9:26never gonna make it. I beg you generally. I'm interrupted in the first
- 9:31sixteen bars. What's your name, friend, Kenneth Harrison. You're probably wondering
- 9:35how I got in it own. I'm not even gonna ask unless you've got
- 9:37something better to offer than the door was open. You're not gonna believe this
- 9:41this morning. No, so you might as well spare me. If if,
- 9:45perhaps this will make up for it. Hey, what do you call
- 9:48that stuff? Anyway? Money? I thought it looked familiar. I once
- 9:52saw something about three years ago. I was twenty five hundred dollars in this
- 9:54morning it's all yours, I give away show you're with? Did you see
- 9:58this morning's paper? Well? Did you have to notice a story about the
- 10:01murder of a gentleman named Kyle? Right? Yeah, the police are holding
- 10:05his wife. His wife happens to be my sister. I see, do
- 10:07you maybe not? I'd like you to represent her. This money should be
- 10:11sufficient for retainner if I take the case. Why should you refuse to Well,
- 10:16first of all, you want to assure yourself that Laura is innocent.
- 10:20How do you know I'm going to say that I'm really anticipated? Well,
- 10:22I tell you, Harris happened? Do you talk to Laura? You want
- 10:24to talk to me again? Did you ever think of going in from mind
- 10:28reading? I had considered it. Well, if I if you should want
- 10:31to reach me at the hotel. Here you go again, say do you
- 10:33know everything? Just loud and maybe you can tell me why I got a
- 10:37feeling I've just been had. Okay, Harrison, I'll be seeing you.
- 10:48You are listening to the Amazing Mister Malone starring Jean Raymond. I know everybody
- 11:00likes a bargain. That's the American way. We like to know that we're
- 11:03getting more than our money's worth when we buy something, and buying United States
- 11:07Savings bonds would be getting more than your money's worth. Return of four dollars
- 11:11for every three invested's pretty good deal. And that's what United States E class
- 11:16Savings bonds pay it maturity. So take advantage now of the opportunity to buy
- 11:22United States Savings bonds. They can be purchased at banks or post offices or
- 11:28through the payroll savings plan where you work. Think of your future today and
- 11:31buy United States Savings bonds. And now back to the Amazing Mister Malone.
- 11:50Thirty two minutes and seventeen seconds later, I was down at police headquarter,
- 11:54which was twelve minutes and fourteen seconds over schedule, and I stopped off at
- 11:58the bank first where I discovered that the twenty five hundred bucks Kenneth Harrison had
- 12:03wished on me were apparently genuine with his accent, I had a feeling it
- 12:05might be Confederate money. Then I hustled over the headquarters during my fee.
- 12:09Believe me, when you deal with a guy like Lieutenant Brooks, you're really
- 12:13doing it the hard way. Well, mister Malone, Uh huh, that's
- 12:18a nice snappy comeback. Uh huh. How do you think of things like
- 12:22that? I listened to Bob Hope. Where's my client? Sessman? Send
- 12:26in missus Riker. Wait a minute, Brooks, how did you know I
- 12:28was representing missus Riker? Oh you think you're the only one who can be
- 12:31amazing? Oh yeah, come in, missus Riker. Your lawyer is here
- 12:37my loan. I'm John J. Malone? Who John J. Malone?
- 12:41I never heard of you, Honey. You can have anything you want on
- 12:45the house. Pay no attention to him, Laura, he's just sore,
- 12:48because I'm gonna get you out. Just what is going on here? Your
- 12:50brother retained me to represent you, my brother, Kenneth Harrison. You haven't
- 12:56had time to do much research, have you, Miss Malone? What do
- 12:58you mean? I'm an own What are you ambulance chasing Malone? The lieutenant,
- 13:03I give you my word. This character came in and told me he
- 13:05was missus Riker's brother. That's very funny. You don't know how funny it
- 13:09is. He gave me a twenty five hundred dollars retainer. He wants to
- 13:11help me, that's the truth. You know, A Paul, good looking
- 13:13boy from below the mint jewlip line about six one? You sure I'm positive?
- 13:20Oh? Why should he give me twenty five hundred dollars? I have
- 13:22no idea? Well do you want me? Why should I? You could
- 13:26do a lot worse, ask the lieutenant. Oh, keep me out of
- 13:30this. I'm prejudiced. How do I know this isn't some true? What
- 13:33can you possibly lose if you tell a straight story? Yes? Did you
- 13:37say? What's all right? First of all? Did you kill your husband?
- 13:41No? Okay? Then we can confer amazing, mister Malone? Already
- 13:45you know she's in us already, I know. Do you also know that
- 13:48she threatened her husband last night, about two hours before he died? That's
- 13:52a lie. The chauffeur heard you, missus Riker. What might this chauffeur's
- 13:54name be Michael's Oki, Michael Oski, Michael's. That isn't the same one.
- 14:00Yeah, how long has he been working for your love? He didn't
- 14:01work for me. He was employed by my husband doing what I can't imagine.
- 14:05Well, I can tell you he was keeping tabs on you. I
- 14:07don't believe it. You were saying a boy named George Cromwell. Weren't you
- 14:11who George Cromwell? No? No, you better be careful in your answers,
- 14:16missus. Ricker, you know Cromwell was murdered last night. Do you
- 14:20think she did it? No? I think her husband killed him, and
- 14:22then she went to work on her husband. You're insane. You weren't stepping
- 14:26out with this George Cromwell on my word of honor? Michael says. Otherwise,
- 14:31m I wonder why Solo visted. Riker. You're going over to see
- 14:35Michaels Malone. You're wasting your time. I've already had a crack at him.
- 14:39I'm glad to hear that, Lieutenant, and you certainly can't begrudge me
- 14:41my turn at bat. Hey, Larry, let me have another shot,
- 14:54will you? You're right with you? Michael? I buy you one?
- 14:58What mana, Nicholas Michaels. Don't you remember me? Sure? I remember
- 15:03you, mister Malone. As we sit down at the table you sat on.
- 15:05I like this fine drink, Michaels. Uh, leave the bottle,
- 15:09Larry's take it out of this falling money. You must be doing all right.
- 15:15The last time I saw you, it was my tough luck. What
- 15:18do you want? Malo just came from police headquarters, did you? Yeah?
- 15:22Representing a lady, you know, Laura Riker? Hey, careful,
- 15:24Michael, you're gonna still let drink go all over you? Look, Malone.
- 15:26I don't know anything about the Riker case. That's not what Lieutenant Brooks
- 15:30told me. I don't care what he told you. Should Ryker kill George
- 15:33Cromwell? Oh Cromwell? Didn't you ever hear the name before? No,
- 15:37that's funny. You're playing missus. Riker was stepping out with him, did
- 15:41I? You're an awfully difficult man to get anything out of nowadays? Wasn't
- 15:46always like this is on? He is just a bet. Surroundings aren't conducive,
- 15:50they're good talk. Suppose we take a little stroll outside and come on,
- 15:56Michael, Hey, Larry you want me, Yeah, come over here
- 16:00and bring that bunks down with you, not me. Well, good night,
- 16:07Michael, see you around. Oh you're not living man. When I'm
- 16:10not wanting you don't have to hit me over the head before I get the
- 16:12IDEA good evening? Is mister Dave Cromwell? Home? Are you missus Cromwell?
- 16:36Well, I'm glad I know you. My name is Michaels, Cocky
- 16:37and Michaels. What's your first name? Emmen, Look, mister Michaels,
- 16:42if you want to see my house, I must certainly do well. I
- 16:45don't expect that too late to night. That's okay, I can wait,
- 16:48don't give it a thought. I got plenty of time. Yeah. I
- 16:52even brought along my own refreshers. See you got a glass? Oh never
- 16:59mind, I don't need Yeah. Yeah, that's good now as good as
- 17:08Oh well, that's the secret, A deep doc secret. You want to
- 17:11drink? Well, suit yourself, Joey hit of a man named Carl Richer.
- 17:18No, that's funny. He's been on all the papers. He was
- 17:21murdered last night. I used to work for him. Yeah, that's what
- 17:23I wanted to see your husband about. You. See, I got Messrs
- 17:26Ricker and jail. And I'm afraid of saw my fault? What's some matter
- 17:30of revelent? Am I such a bad company? Here? Oh? No,
- 17:33pay pay? Where do you think you're going? Oh? My aunt?
- 17:37Will you behave? I sit down there? Shut up? Hey,
- 17:45your husband certainly keeps late hours running. I don't think they's coming home tonight.
- 17:52No, no, now that I remember, he told me that he
- 17:56told you what what? How old fow? We were just discussing what's going
- 18:02on here? My name is Michaels. Mister Cromwell, I wanted to talk
- 18:07to you about what about the Riker case? What about it? But suppose
- 18:11you're telling them missus to blow? I want to talk to this gentleman alone.
- 18:18Go on, Well, you certainly got the power. How you doing?
- 18:29They said, you want to talk about the Riker case? Oh oh
- 18:32yeah, well you know that holding this missus? Did you read John J.
- 18:37Malone was representing her. Yeah, so so he's quite a boy.
- 18:41All and heed say a little lead and boom, I bet he gets the
- 18:44answer just like like that. What is the answer, mister Michael, Well,
- 18:48it goes back to your brother's murder. Quite acting surprise, Grandwell we
- 18:52both know Ryker kill him. You know I was there? What hey,
- 19:00hey, cut it out, you're chalk on me. I swear I didn't
- 19:03know what Rocker was gonna do. I talked, well, somebody gave Ricker
- 19:07or a bump steer. He thought his wife was seeing your brother in all
- 19:08the while it was me. Yeah, I guess you must have used your
- 19:11brother's apartment for them eating place with the name of this somebody who tipped off
- 19:15Riker. I don't know. I think he had a private day lion.
- 19:21No, I'm on Michael's admitted you were the one who brought record or my
- 19:22brother. No, I swear I didn't. I get up Michaels. We're
- 19:27gonna play twenty questions. Mean, Laura, thanks Sidney. Isn't he amazing?
- 19:45Missing alone? I didn't expect you back tonight. I didn't expect to
- 19:48be back. Did you accomplish anything? Yes? And no. I figured
- 19:52out a way to prove your innocence, can you Yes? Indeed, all
- 19:56you got to do is submit to an indiction of sodium amatoon. Oh what
- 20:00it's what they call the truth serumon? Oh no, come on, lover,
- 20:03what can you lose? Seems to me. You used that line before.
- 20:07I thought those kinds of tests weren't admissible, and they are. What
- 20:11good is it? Maybe I just want to convince myself. What do you
- 20:14say, Laura? I always thought I was a pretty accomplished liar. Hang
- 20:18on your hypodermic malone. I think I can beat it. We'll be ready
- 20:32to roll in a minute, counselor Hell yeah, I'm going to donate my
- 20:37life to science. Don't you think I'm entitled to know how this truth film
- 20:40routine works? That's fairly simple, Laura. All hinges on your unconscious mind.
- 20:44The Doc's going to give you an injection of sodium amatll that'll make you
- 20:48feel drowsy. But even then, your unconscious sometimes continues to function, and
- 20:52the sodium amatar releases the break. I mean, I couldn't hold out on
- 20:56you even if I wanted to call or guarantees for this deal. All right,
- 21:00doctor, whenever you're ready, I'm ready now, misterlone. You hold
- 21:03out your arms. This won't hurt it. Sorry, Now, how will
- 21:14you start counting backwards slowly? From one hundred ninety nine, ninety eight,
- 21:19ninety seven, ninety six, ninety five, ninety three four ninety one ninety
- 21:37she's off now, okay, Glass, what's your name? All right?
- 21:45Where were you born in New York? How long did you live there?
- 21:52Now? I was seventeen three hours in my little hole in the wall.
- 22:00You know what it's like to be cool. That's why you married your husband?
- 22:04Yes, and I know it's gonna be worse. I thought I was
- 22:11bettering myself. Do you know of Kenneth Harrison Harrison? No, No,
- 22:22I never heard the name before. How about a George Cromwell. I know
- 22:26George. Do you ever go out with him? No? But you were
- 22:32in love with him? I couldn't stand. Do you think your husband killed
- 22:37him? I don't want to talk about it anymore. Listen to me,
- 22:42missus right now. I told you I don't want to discussing coming alone?
- 22:48Im me alone. What's the scholar tennant? Did you pass her flunk?
- 23:00The doc says she lied about what she does know a Kenneth Harris, and
- 23:04I thought so. But she was telling the truth when she said she didn't
- 23:07go out with George Cromwell and wasn't in love with him. She wasn't.
- 23:11No yet, Michael swore she was meeting Wait a minute, did Cromwell share
- 23:17his apartment with anybody? Nope? Did he have any close friends? Not?
- 23:19Did weiuld discover he seemed to spend most of his time with his brother.
- 23:22His brother, Yeah, a fellow named Dave Cromwell Paul Well set up.
- 23:27Is his brother married? Yeah? Why? Well, I would probably
- 23:30explain why Dave didn't use Let's go see Michaels. What for? I just
- 23:36want to check on a theory of relativity. Michaels looked like Einstein in this
- 23:41case. You don't answer, Malone. That's strange. Why Michaels wasn't in
- 23:57any of the bars? He should be home at this hour, are you?
- 24:00He'll be funny, I'll tell you what. What's the matter? Hey,
- 24:06we haven't run across from these ages? The doors unlocked? Yeah?
- 24:11Got a match? See a light switch? And that ain't all brutal?
- 24:21Huh? Yeah, Well, I guess we're not going to get anything out
- 24:25of mister Michael's tonight, tonight or any night. Carl Homicide Malone, you
- 24:30ought to know the number. By this time, you are listening to the
- 24:37amazing Mister Malone starring Jean Raymond. The day is never before the Elementary Public
- 24:48school system in America bas is a critical situation. The facts are alarming.
- 24:52An increased birth rate during and since the war has resulted in expanded enrollments that
- 24:56will crowd the elementary schools with of additional children during the next five years.
- 25:03Immediate action is needed now to cope with the enormously enlarge school population. You
- 25:07can help to assure a proper education for your youngsters by working with local civic
- 25:11groups and school boards actively seeking to improve educational conditions. Remember, better schools
- 25:18make better communities. And now back to the amazing mister Malone. Ten minutes
- 25:33later, a detail from homicide arrives. It is a pleasure to watch them
- 25:36work. They all made like a swarm of bees. But from the way
- 25:38the lieutenant looked, I could see they hadn't found much. Honey, you're
- 25:41still hanging around, Malone. No, I left an hour ago. I
- 25:45wish you'd taken your head with you. Oh that's a good one, lieutenant.
- 25:48We must send that the red scale. And what's up? Michael's was
- 25:51killed with the same gun us down riker after someone handed him with shellacking.
- 25:55How would you know that? All I have to do is look at the
- 25:56body. How long has he been dead? Not very that, As I
- 26:00always say, it's any wind that blows nobody good? Is that what you
- 26:03always say? Yeah? But Shakespeare probably said at first, what are you
- 26:07babbling about? This lets my client out as it certainly if both Michaels and
- 26:11Riker were killed with the same gun, hearted missus Riker do it? Why
- 26:15couldn't she? What did she use thought waves? While I was saving it
- 26:18for a surprise? Malone? What After the state's attorney heard about the results
- 26:23of the truth serum test, he ordered her release. See what, Yeah,
- 26:27I want to come along while I pick her up. Suppose you come
- 26:30along with me? First? Remember why we came here originally to check whether
- 26:34Riker could have killed the wrong Cromwell, Well, Michaels can't do that first
- 26:37anymore, so let's go to the next best source. Hello, missus Cromwell,
- 26:55you don't you remember I was here Thursday night to see her husband about
- 26:57his brother kenn and Brooks. And this is John J. Malone. How
- 27:03do you do? How do you do? Your husband? Then? Well?
- 27:06Sleep? Would you mind waking him? I wouldn't like to, Lieutenant,
- 27:08you know gave you'll survive? Of course, that's no guarantee for how
- 27:12long? Where is he in there? No? I won't let you disturb
- 27:15it. No, cut that out, Hey, get her off of me,
- 27:18Malone, James, Well, the commotions, Well, mister Malone,
- 27:26and I wanted to talk to you. Yes, sind what's the matter,
- 27:30counselor. This is mister Kenneth Harrison. What well, that's the name he
- 27:33used at my office. You're out of your mind. You know a Laura
- 27:36Riker? No, he doesn't mean handle it. Yeah, I know a
- 27:40Laura Rikers. Did you kill her husband? No? No, I didn't
- 27:44kill him. What about a boy named Kokie Michaels. What about him?
- 27:48He was murdered an hour ago. Let us being all night, I can
- 27:52prove him. Oh, you can't missus. Cromwell. The elevator boy says,
- 27:55your husband stepped out around eleven. It's only for a patent for a
- 27:57packete cigarette. I was back in five minutes. You better come along with
- 28:02me, Dave. I won't let you take him away. I won't let
- 28:06them do it. I killed him, Lieutenant. What I killed mister Riker?
- 28:08Michael? If I got cock Robin. Come on, Cromwell, you
- 28:12got to believe me, I said, she ain't kidding. That's the matter
- 28:18with you, Cromwell. Didn't you know you should have? He did it
- 28:21for you? Say alone, why did missus Cromwell kill Riker and Michael?
- 28:41You're amazing weft? Why did she five seconds with a woman? Should have
- 28:45told you the reason? She was crazy about her husband, so she commits
- 28:48two murders. Sure, both Riker and Michaels were a threat to the man
- 28:52she loved. She had no more compunction about knocking them off than you would
- 28:56have about squashing a mosquito. That was fighting your kids. I ain't got
- 29:00kids. Not my fault. I don't tell me. She beat up Michael's
- 29:03too, Oh, that was her husband's work. But after days got through
- 29:06with him, she followed Michael's home and let him have it. And all
- 29:08along she knew about Dave and missus Riker. Yep, and she never complained.
- 29:12The kind of woman never does what a gal I just fought her simple
- 29:17the elevator boy could cover up a day's alibi. Why couldn't she all right,
- 29:21mister bones? Why couldn't she elementary? She wasn't there, And if
- 29:25she wasn't, she was the only one left in the case who had a
- 29:26motive and opportunity. I still don't see why it couldn't have been Laura Riker,
- 29:30because both Riker and Michaels were killed with the same gun, and since
- 29:33Laura didn't kill her. Husband said, though, what about that sodium amicoll
- 29:37we got into her? Oh yeah, you know, I forgot about that,
- 29:41Malone. Ain't that truth there on a marvelous gimmicks. Certainly, I'm
- 29:45glad you thought of it. We ought to use it more often so than
- 29:48my dead buddy. That's the sort of things that could put us all out
- 29:51of business. Night, Lieutenant. Every of the story of the Semith's soul
- 30:08would never took a chance in his life to anybody himself a gun. He'll
- 30:11be surprised if the difference was made in no time at all. He was
- 30:15ready to shoot the work. I'll tell you all about it next week,
- 30:18So why not take me up in my office at the same time. I'll
- 30:21be waiting for you. Good night. Jean Raymond will start as John J.
- 30:26Malone, with Henry Morgan as Lieutenant Brooks. Our program is written by
- 30:30Gene Wang and directed by William P. T Russol. Music by battle Ablum,
- 30:37The Amazing Mister Malone is based on a character created by Craig Rice and
- 30:40produced by bernardil Schubert. The events and characters depicted in this story were entirely
- 30:45fictional, and any resemblance to actual places of people living or dead is entirely
- 30:49coincidental. And now this is Dick two felt inviting you to Linton next week.
- 30:53The Amazing Mister Malone has come to you from Hollywood. This is the
- 31:00American Broadcasting Company, Welcome back. I have mixed feelings on this episode.
- 31:08Obviously, even while he was working and staring in Dragging at Jack Web kind
- 31:17of had a arrangement with ABC to come over and play characters who were heels
- 31:25as illustrating this week's episodepisode actually the last two weeks episodes of The Amazing Mister
- 31:30Malone. This episode has so much significant radio talent in it. You had
- 31:40William Conrad, Jack Webb in Virginia Gregg here. You also had Harry Morgan
- 31:48as the policeman. And I like Harry Morgan in this role, and he
- 31:56wasn't intending to get too many of the starring roles at this point in his
- 32:00career, but he does a great job here. My only thing is,
- 32:04when you have this much talent on the acting side, you really wish there
- 32:10was a better script. I actually would have enjoyed this script more with a
- 32:15lesser group of actors, because it seems like, wow, you know,
- 32:22that was the thing with radio. So many of these people, you know,
- 32:24they did thousands of radio performances in order to you know, Mike ends
- 32:31me, and not all of them were classics. But to have have all
- 32:37you know, that many actors in there and get something like, well she
- 32:40confess, so therefore she did it, I don't know, but to each
- 32:47their own. But very good performance by Harry Morgan. All right, Well,
- 32:54a listener comments and feedback. We have this from Heather who rots in
- 33:05I really love this app in the shows and would like to find a similar
- 33:08one for the suspense horror OTR genre. Do you happen to know of one
- 33:14you would recommend right now? Subscribe to dozens of individual podcasts and would like
- 33:19them all in one place. Well, thanks so much for the question,
- 33:22Heather. I cannot help you much. I am not at all into the
- 33:27horror genre, and in terms of suspense, you know, generally it's like
- 33:34if we're getting the mood I'll grab an episode of the Whistle. What I
- 33:38might recommend is, you know, and if listeners have something for those genres
- 33:43they would recommend, feel free to email me. But what I might recommend
- 33:47is the site Escape dash Suspense dot com, which has a lot of episodes
- 33:55of escaping suspense available with details on the shows at Yeah, I don't have
- 34:05a podcast recommendation, you might try our Facebook page and certainly if our listeners
- 34:09have one that you'd recommended in that genre, share it with me and I'll
- 34:15certainly be sure to pass it on to her. All Right, Well,
- 34:19that will actually do it for today. We'll be back tomorrow as we continue
- 34:24on with yours truly, Johnny Dollar, and then join us back here Tuesday
- 34:28for our new Mister Malone. Send your comments to Box thirteen at Great Detectors
