- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello gorgeous, it's Lala Kent. Welcome to Untraditionally Lala. Hello gorgeous,
- 0:06Speaker 1: welcome to the bonus episode of Untraditionally Lala. I'm still
- 0:10Speaker 1: here with my squad.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Hello mom.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Hello.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Hi.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Hi Easton. How are your seeds?
- 0:16Speaker 3: Phenomenal.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I'm obsessed with you lately.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Jesus.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Jesus take the wheel. You're so.
- 0:25Speaker 1: unintentionally hilarious. And I'm just happy to see you back.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Well, thanks.
- 0:29Speaker 1: One thing I would like to see you do is
- 0:31Speaker 1: lift some weights.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Mom's face. You thought she said you were unintelligent, did you? No.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Did you? No. I would never say that about my mom.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Your face, you looked at her like, and then you went, oh,
- 0:43Speaker 2: thank you. Unintentionally funny.
- 0:46Speaker 1: So I wanted to do a throwback episode of childhood
- 0:50Speaker 1: memories that stuck with our friends, a.k.a.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Our listeners, because.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Mom brought up a really, really, well, I don't remember
- 1:00Speaker 1: how this came up. Oh, I know exactly. We were
- 1:02Speaker 1: talking about... COVID and how everybody became obsessed with Tiger King.
- 1:08Speaker 1: And then the same producer, I believe, made one about
- 1:14Speaker 1: the chimps. And now they've come up with another one
- 1:16Speaker 1: about reptiles.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Oh, I want to watch that.
- 1:20Speaker 1: And we started talking about snakes and stuff. And I
- 1:24Speaker 1: remembered this moment. That's a core memory. I don't know
- 1:26Speaker 1: if you remember Easton, but my dad used to build
- 1:29Speaker 1: homes and In Park City. And he brought me and
- 1:32Speaker 1: Easton home a garden snake from one of the job
- 1:35Speaker 1: sites for us to keep. And he would take us
- 1:37Speaker 1: to PetSmart to get goldfish for the snake to eat.
- 1:41Speaker 1: And I loved this snake. I would take it outside
- 1:43Speaker 1: and like play with it. And I remember he had
- 1:46Speaker 1: just eaten and it was like very, very thin. And
- 1:48Speaker 1: then you could see where the goldfish was. I don't
- 1:50Speaker 1: know if you're supposed to feed... Garden snakes, goldfish.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I don't know that either.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I think that's probably not what they're supposed to be eating,
- 1:56Speaker 1: but this happened. And I remember it threw the goldfish
- 2:00Speaker 1: up on my hand and it was like just this
- 2:02Speaker 1: dead fish. It was traumatizing. But then you brought up
- 2:07Speaker 1: a really sweet thing that you did.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Well, we had bought an aquarium to keep him in.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Is that what it's called? An aquarium?
- 2:14Speaker 3: Well, I don't know. For a snake?
- 2:16Speaker 2: For a snake.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it looked like an aquarium.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yeah, like a big glass tank.
- 2:21Speaker 4: And we'd put wood chips and stuff. And we'd put
- 2:25Speaker 4: things for him to climb on.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Slither on?
- 2:29Speaker 3: Slither on, yeah. But I felt so badly.
- 2:32Speaker 4: I thought, this is so unfair to this snake to
- 2:34Speaker 4: be housed in this little container.
- 2:37Speaker 3: So I let him go in the yard.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Aww.
- 2:40Speaker 4: And he slithered away. And we had that stream running
- 2:43Speaker 4: through our property. And I'm sure he was in the
- 2:46Speaker 4: hog heaven.
- 2:47Speaker 2: He probably got in there and down the stream he went, maybe.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I love that. Yeah. You've always been against animals in
- 2:56Speaker 1: captivity and I appreciate that.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Well, I appreciate that you feel the same way.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Even Ocean. Ocean's all about that life.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Ocean is all about that life.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Very important to teach your kids.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, at a very young age. But when
- 3:10Speaker 1: you brought that up, I was like, oh my gosh,
- 3:11Speaker 1: I completely forgot about that moment that mom said, like,
- 3:15Speaker 1: the snake is no longer.
- 3:16Speaker 2: We're releasing the snake.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Yeah, poor little thing.
- 3:20Speaker 2: No, you released him.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I know, but poor little thing that he was.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Being stuck in that thing, in that glass area. But
- 3:27Speaker 1: I will say, I took him out quite a bit.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Well, I'm glad you did.
- 3:30Speaker 1: I waltzed him over to Morgan's house on the corner.
- 3:33Speaker 3: That's so cute.
- 3:35Speaker 2: They seem like snake people.
- 3:37Speaker 3: They did?
- 3:38Speaker 1: How do you know a snake person?
- 3:40Speaker 2: You just know.
- 3:41Speaker 1: You just fucking know.
- 3:43Speaker 2: I like snakes.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I like snakes too.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Do you need to light another cigarette?
- 3:48Speaker 4: Hold on.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Another pack of Marlboro for you?
- 3:54Speaker 1: Easton, what's a childhood memory that's... You, I'm telling you,
- 3:58Speaker 1: it makes me so happy when you go, yes, it
- 4:00Speaker 1: is a core memory for me.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Which one? All of them.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Every time you bring something up from childhood, I'm like,
- 4:06Speaker 1: you remember that?
- 4:07Speaker 2: Yes, it is a core memory for me.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Can I tell you what I remember about him?
- 4:11Speaker 2: What the fuck is happening? Mike Wazowski. Get that booger
- 4:19Speaker 2: out of your throat. Let's get working. Fuck. Mike Wazowski.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Can I talk now?
- 4:29Speaker 2: We don't know. Can you?
- 4:31Speaker 4: Can I tell you what other core memory I remember
- 4:34Speaker 4: as an adult? Yeah. Is buying Easton those $ 50 collectible
- 4:39Speaker 4: cars and him busting the wheels off all of them.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I wanted to be a mechanic.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I was seeing the achievement teeth in the back. Ripping
- 4:47Speaker 1: the wheels off?
- 4:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:48Speaker 3: And then he'd play with them in the dirt in
- 4:50Speaker 3: the back.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Remember?
- 4:51Speaker 1: I totally remember.
- 4:52Speaker 5: That is a core memory with little Zach and little Alec.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah, do you remember you and me outside of the St.
- 4:58Speaker 1: George condo where that rose bush was? We would dig
- 5:02Speaker 1: and make little ramps of dirt for our cars.
- 5:05Speaker 2: And I had a little motorcycle. I loved building dirt roads.
- 5:08Speaker 3: But why did you not let him have any wheels on?
- 5:12Speaker 5: I also wanted to be in construction and I also
- 5:15Speaker 5: wanted to be a mechanic.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Wow. Take the wheels off. That's some manly shit right there.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Could not move back on, but I wanted to try.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I think that was just, I don't know.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Every car we got you.
- 5:25Speaker 2: The wheels ripped right off.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yep.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I remember that, too.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Oh, and remember you would buy him the little, like, figurines?
- 5:32Speaker 2: I'm still very into wheels right now, too. And they
- 5:34Speaker 2: would be, like, attached to the grass.
- 5:36Speaker 5: Yep.
- 5:36Speaker 2: They were supposed to be, like, laid out as a display.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Yeah. And he would rip them out, and they would
- 5:42Speaker 1: have those. Things sticking out.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Of their feet. Yeah, I'd play with them. The football guys.
- 5:47Speaker 3: I still have those in storage, by the way.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I know.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Gave everything else away, but kept those.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Is my dad, no, my dad moving the stone and
- 6:00Speaker 1: steel coffee table that.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Mom had in the front room. Oh, yeah. You, him
- 6:06Speaker 2: putting masking tape on the floor. No, I would do that.
- 6:09Speaker 1: To resemble of whatever. Dad would make it so that
- 6:11Speaker 1: he could do that.
- 6:12Speaker 2: No, he got the room ready. And Easton would be
- 6:16Speaker 2: watching a football game. Monday night, Sunday night. And he
- 6:18Speaker 2: would watch. And he was such a tiny little tot,
- 6:21Speaker 2: you guys. He was so cute.
- 6:22Speaker 1: And he would have his helmet on with his shoulder
- 6:25Speaker 1: pads and his football pants and jersey.
- 6:28Speaker 2: And he would watch the play.
- 6:29Speaker 1: And then he would reenact the play. And then he'd
- 6:33Speaker 1: come up to me and....
- 6:35Speaker 2: See my backpack?
- 6:36Speaker 1: We see my backpack. He'd do it all the time.
- 6:38Speaker 2: He loved his backpack.
- 6:40Speaker 3: And he loved going in the yard to scuff up
- 6:42Speaker 3: his jersey.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Yeah, he wanted grass stains on his jersey. So you
- 6:45Speaker 1: just look outside and he would just be plowing himself
- 6:47Speaker 1: into the fucking grass so hard.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Where were my friends? You had hella friends. No, trust me,
- 6:54Speaker 2: I know. You had so many friends. No, I loved
- 6:55Speaker 2: my backpack.
- 6:56Speaker 5: Another core memory as well is like the down where
- 6:58Speaker 5: the stairs went to the basement.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Sleeping backpack.
- 7:01Speaker 5: Well, that, but I'd have my basketball hoop. And it
- 7:06Speaker 5: was always around Christmas time with a fucking million Santas.
- 7:09Speaker 5: And so I'd always make sure that if it was
- 7:11Speaker 5: bouncing this way, I'd always hit it away from the Santas.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Oh, I remember that.
- 7:14Speaker 2: The door that went downstairs. So I'd hang the thing there.
- 7:17Speaker 5: And then the Santas were there with the French doors
- 7:19Speaker 5: that went into the other room. So I would shoot
- 7:21Speaker 5: that way so I wouldn't break the Santas. But I
- 7:24Speaker 5: did break one, and that was my core memory. Mom
- 7:26Speaker 5: didn't get that mad either. It was one you did
- 7:28Speaker 5: not care for.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I had so many.
- 7:31Speaker 5: I like fell off and I was like freaking out.
- 7:36Speaker 5: And I just went up to mom and I was like,
- 7:37Speaker 5: I hit this up. She looked at it and she
- 7:39Speaker 5: goes away. I think, no, I think we have all
- 7:41Speaker 5: of those as well. Just all in a bin.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I would love for you to bring them out here
- 7:46Speaker 1: so that we could decorate my house.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Guess what would be way cute in the winter time.
- 7:50Speaker 5: You guys might not like it, but like where dad is,
- 7:52Speaker 5: we can move those and all the Santas.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Oh, that's really cute.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Totally. I love that idea.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I want it to look like the holidays.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Threw up at the house. Same. I want to watch.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Get to work, Mom.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Okay. I want to tell you one other story and
- 8:05Speaker 3: I'm done.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Then I remember Easton as a biter and that you
- 8:09Speaker 4: would hold his forehead back and he would chomp.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Like a piranha and his eyes would be like this.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah. It was terrifying. What did you do to me
- 8:19Speaker 2: that made me want to bite?
- 8:21Speaker 3: Guess how we got you to stop biting.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Bob bit me.
- 8:25Speaker 4: You bit Lauren, and my dad was babysitting, and he
- 8:29Speaker 4: bit you.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I remember that.
- 8:32Speaker 2: We were in the basement. I didn't bite again, though,
- 8:33Speaker 2: did I?
- 8:34Speaker 1: No, you bit me.
- 8:35Speaker 2: No, I never bit after that. No. But you bit me.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I ran upstairs to tell Bob. Bob's the one who
- 8:42Speaker 1: lit himself on fire. Yeah.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Well, on accident, obviously. He was a guy.
- 8:46Speaker 1: But I remember him going downstairs, hearing you very unhappy,
- 8:51Speaker 1: and him carrying you.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Up the stairs and.
- 8:54Speaker 1: looking you were definitely sad but bob was also he
- 8:57Speaker 1: was distraught yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 3: But i told him that's what he had to do
- 9:01Speaker 3: if if you bit gotta bite him back.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I just can't picture if if my kids bit being
- 9:06Speaker 1: like mom while i'm away.
- 9:07Speaker 4: If she bites sink that teeth in i just can't
- 9:11Speaker 4: imagine he never bit again it was he constantly lauren.
- 9:16Speaker 6: I know i had good teeth for it as a
- 9:18Speaker 6: vampire You know, can I tell you, though, or not Ocean, Sosa,
- 9:24Speaker 6: we watched her the other day, Niecy laying beautifully.
- 9:28Speaker 1: On the ground. Easton and I both watched Sosa roll
- 9:31Speaker 1: up on her, look at her, take her fist, and bam,
- 9:35Speaker 1: smacked her right on the head.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Oh, that TV got paused. I took her little hand.
- 9:40Speaker 2: I gave it a flick.
- 9:41Speaker 1: She was beside herself.
- 9:44Speaker 2: She hasn't hit her again.
- 9:45Speaker 1: She did not hit her again, though.
- 9:46Speaker 2: And it's good we have good dogs. Yeah. I mean, she, like... No,
- 9:51Speaker 2: she wailed my dog. She punched my dog.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Poor Bernice.
- 9:55Speaker 2: She punched her. Yeah.
- 9:57Speaker 5: And not only that, her poor head was like on the.
- 10:00Speaker 5: tile already. So like her fist hit her and then
- 10:03Speaker 5: her head went into the tile again.
- 10:05Speaker 2: And she didn't even move. Didn't even move.
- 10:06Speaker 1: And Sosa went over to the couch. And when I
- 10:08Speaker 1: told her, you need to apologize, she walks up and
- 10:11Speaker 1: she goes, I'm sorry.
- 10:13Speaker 4: So cute.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I was like, you don't hit animals.
- 10:18Speaker 2: No.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Hitters get hit, biters get bit.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Yep.
- 10:21Speaker 1: That's how we roll at our house.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Preach!
- 10:23Speaker 2: Preach.
- 10:24Speaker 1: All right. Childhood memories from our friends. The camping trips
- 10:27Speaker 1: we would take yearly with our family.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Aww.
- 10:31Speaker 5: The one that Dior almost got eaten alive on.
- 10:34Speaker 1: That was like a glamping trip. We were in like
- 10:36Speaker 1: a pretty nice trailer.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I just remember I was happy. I was happy too.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Do you remember when we went camping and we actually
- 10:44Speaker 4: pitched a tent and we saw moose?
- 10:47Speaker 3: I do remember that.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Oh, we did fun things. This sounds like an annual
- 10:53Speaker 1: thing for their family.
- 10:54Speaker 2: So that means they had it mastered.
- 10:56Speaker 6: Yep.
- 10:57Speaker 2: They were glamping too.
- 10:58Speaker 3: But you know what? Our camping was like pal to me.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Oh, the greatest.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:03Speaker 2: So bougie. That's our camping? Oh my gosh. You guys
- 11:08Speaker 2: didn't camp much.
- 11:09Speaker 5: My camping is going into the Uintas and trying to
- 11:11Speaker 5: find something decent.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I went camping with my buddies. Don't you remember? You did.
- 11:15Speaker 2: You went camping. I was about that life.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Tents.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I think it's great.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I would like to take ocean camping.
- 11:21Speaker 4: I love it. An overnight camping trip. I can't do
- 11:26Speaker 4: multiple days.
- 11:27Speaker 5: No, there was nothing worse than waking up.
- 11:30Speaker 2: If you went two days, you got there Friday and
- 11:32Speaker 2: left Sunday.
- 11:33Speaker 5: There was nothing worse than Saturday waking up and looking
- 11:36Speaker 5: around and it being like 7.30 and you're going, wow,
- 11:38Speaker 5: how the fuck are we doing today?
- 11:40Speaker 1: What are we supposed to do I think it sounds
- 11:44Speaker 1: fun to roll in in the morning. You've got all
- 11:46Speaker 1: day having fun. The next day you can have breakfast, whatever.
- 11:49Speaker 1: You start packing up around like lunchtime. Hit a really
- 11:53Speaker 1: cute restaurant on the way out. Because we did do
- 11:57Speaker 1: camping correct.
- 11:58Speaker 5: We had like the side-by-side, the ATVs because we go
- 12:00Speaker 5: with Jake. And it was even worse because Saturdays were
- 12:04Speaker 5: just us driving around and then.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Just sleeping dirty as hell.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:09Speaker 2: I hated it. I'm a clean kind of guy. I
- 12:12Speaker 2: like a shower.
- 12:13Speaker 5: A shower.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Running water is my jam.
- 12:14Speaker 2: An RV.
- 12:15Speaker 3: And I like a toilet, sorry.
- 12:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not a shitter in a hole kind of guy.
- 12:20Speaker 5: Like when they were like, yeah, just lean against a tree.
- 12:22Speaker 5: I was like, I think I'm just going to.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Lean against a tree?
- 12:24Speaker 5: I was like, you must not know me, but at all,
- 12:27Speaker 5: I will hold this till we are home.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Wait, that's disgusting.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Yeah, you're telling me.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Lion King. My parents played it so much. I had
- 12:46Speaker 1: a Simba stuffed animal and never left it anywhere. I
- 12:51Speaker 1: too had that Simba stuffed animal.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Do you remember?
- 12:53Speaker 3: Yes.
- 12:54Speaker 2: And it had the little thing on the forehead. Simba.
- 12:56Speaker 3: That's cute.
- 12:58Speaker 2: What was his name? Rafiki. Rafiki puts the little on
- 13:02Speaker 2: his forehead. The paint.
- 13:04Speaker 1: What was Easton obsessed with again?
- 13:06Speaker 2: Dumbo.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Oh yeah. James and the Giant Peach.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I love James.
- 13:11Speaker 1: That's a good one to show Ocean. I was looking
- 13:14Speaker 1: on Instagram and it was talking about all of these
- 13:16Speaker 1: movies that came out when we were kids that we're
- 13:19Speaker 1: now showing our kids. And I saved it so that
- 13:22Speaker 1: I could show Ocean because we've already done Life Size.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Beethoven you want to do.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Beethoven I want to do.
- 13:27Speaker 3: 101 Dalmatians.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Now I want to do James and the Giant Peach.
- 13:32Speaker 2: She's kind of, for some reason, out of that phase.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Like she's into Betso Raven. A.K.A. That's So Raven.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Oh.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Yep. Maybe a little Zack and Cody. Zack and Cody
- 13:43Speaker 2: for sure.
- 13:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Old School Dunkin' Donuts runs with my dad.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Aw. Oh, that's fun.
- 13:51Speaker 2: That is fun.
- 13:52Speaker 3: I love donuts.
- 13:53Speaker 2: There's one.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Let's go get one today. A cronut.
- 13:57Speaker 5: Guys, there's a Disney commercial that I really love. And
- 14:00Speaker 5: that reminded me of it.
- 14:02Speaker 4: What?
- 14:02Speaker 5: There's a Disney cruise and it's him. It's like his
- 14:05Speaker 5: dad and him as a kid. And they go on
- 14:07Speaker 5: a Disney cruise every year and they always go on
- 14:09Speaker 5: this walk. Well, then the son grows up and then
- 14:11Speaker 5: has his own child. And then they do it with
- 14:13Speaker 5: the grandpa, the baby, and then the son.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Okay, that's spiral.
- 14:19Speaker 5: That's what that and that reminded me of going with
- 14:21Speaker 5: dad every like Saturday morning.
- 14:23Speaker 1: To 7-Eleven to get the frozen coffees.
- 14:26Speaker 2: And donuts. Dad, it's the cutest little commercial.
- 14:33Speaker 3: We got to go on a Disney cruise.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I hate cruises. I saw that and I was like,
- 14:36Speaker 2: get me on a damn cruise. Get me on a cruise.
- 14:40Speaker 2: I don't care what I can catch. Put me on
- 14:42Speaker 2: the bus.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Let's do that.
- 14:45Speaker 2: I love that commercial right there.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I want to do a Disney cruise and I want
- 14:47Speaker 1: to do Alaska. Yeah.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Yeah. I'll get on a cruise. I'll take some Dramamine.
- 14:54Speaker 1: You know what runs I remember with dad is him
- 14:56Speaker 1: taking us to car dealerships on Sundays so that.
- 14:59Speaker 2: They wouldn't bug you. I meant Sunday because that's where
- 15:03Speaker 2: we'd go.
- 15:03Speaker 5: 7-Eleven, I'd grab my maple bar and my little hot chocolate.
- 15:06Speaker 2: He would grab his and then we'd go to the
- 15:08Speaker 2: car dealerships. Yeah. And I'd eat it while we walked around.
- 15:11Speaker 3: He loved doing that.
- 15:13Speaker 1: You couldn't do that in LA.
- 15:14Speaker 2: They're open on Sundays.
- 15:15Speaker 1: They're ready to get you any day of the week.
- 15:18Speaker 5: I went and looked at Mercedes like a week ago
- 15:20Speaker 5: just for fun. I was just passing by. So I
- 15:22Speaker 5: stopped and I was like, I got bothered by like
- 15:24Speaker 5: nine people. And I started saying, I have no money.
- 15:28Speaker 5: I was like, I have no money. I have no money.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I'm just here to look.
- 15:31Speaker 3: So you're telling the truth.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Yeah. That too. No money.
- 15:35Speaker 4: No money.
- 15:37Speaker 2: I'm teasing you. Not in the market yet. I'm teasing.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I could get a little something. Maybe I will.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I think you should.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Due time.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Due time. Moving on.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I think that you should be in.
- 15:48Speaker 2: A car that you feel cute in.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Celebrating my mom and the pod that raised me on
- 15:52Speaker 1: Father's Day each year. Oh.
- 15:55Speaker 2: That's what we do. That's so relatable.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I know. We celebrate you on Father's Day and our
- 16:01Speaker 1: actual dad. Yeah.
- 16:03Speaker 2: We celebrate you too because you've known that. Yeah. Just
- 16:08Speaker 2: a day of celebrating.
- 16:09Speaker 1: But I think that's really cute that she said in
- 16:11Speaker 1: the pod that raised me. I like that.
- 16:13Speaker 2: That's really stinking cute.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I would love to know what they go and do
- 16:16Speaker 1: if it's like the same, if they have like a
- 16:18Speaker 1: tradition that they do every year.
- 16:19Speaker 3: You should ask her.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I'll have to find her DM.
- 16:24Speaker 1: We used to do Malibu. Remember with like Brittany?
- 16:28Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 16:28Speaker 3: That was fun.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Back in the day. That restaurant's gone.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Where'd it go?
- 16:35Speaker 1: My mom would make trails of our favorite candy from
- 16:38Speaker 1: our bed to gifts for holidays.
- 16:40Speaker 2: That's cute. That is adorable.
- 16:43Speaker 1: And I think I should do that.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Yeah, like just get like the mini packets of Skittles.
- 16:47Speaker 5: So like you just like throw the little pack, like,
- 16:49Speaker 5: you know, like the Halloween size candies.
- 16:52Speaker 1: And you know, my child's driven by sweets. So she
- 16:53Speaker 1: would be very into that.
- 16:55Speaker 2: You could do it to her dinner.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Now you gotta eat if you eat your broccoli she's
- 17:03Speaker 1: so anti-vegetable piece of candy very annoying she's like mom
- 17:07Speaker 1: I ate I had cake I'm like that is not
- 17:10Speaker 1: a food group okay or.
- 17:12Speaker 4: She'll say I ate already and it'll be dinner time
- 17:15Speaker 4: and she'll have had breakfast and lunch but she's gotta get.
- 17:18Speaker 1: The concept yeah four hours ago three meals a day
- 17:21Speaker 1: for you You know, three meals a day for you,
- 17:24Speaker 1: one meal a day for us.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Well, why do you get to do this? And then
- 17:27Speaker 1: I get to use your line. Because I'm the adult
- 17:30Speaker 1: and you're the child. And now it's like I love
- 17:35Speaker 1: using that. When you used to say it, I wanted
- 17:37Speaker 1: to scream, fuck you. But now I get to be
- 17:42Speaker 1: on the powerful end.
- 17:43Speaker 3: And you liked my sweet voice too.
- 17:45Speaker 1: I do it to Ocean all the time. I go,
- 17:48Speaker 1: you want to know what's such a bummer? Is if
- 17:50Speaker 1: you would have been nice, we could be doing face
- 17:52Speaker 1: masks and eating popcorn. And now you don't get to.
- 17:55Speaker 1: And you get to go to sleep in your own bed.
- 17:57Speaker 1: It's going to be so fun. But you could have
- 17:59Speaker 1: been having more fun.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Exactly. Because you chose to be a little asshole. I
- 18:04Speaker 2: don't say that.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Do you know what I love doing? Is when her
- 18:07Speaker 3: room's a mess and she doesn't want to clean it up.
- 18:09Speaker 3: I go, oh, that's great. I said, you know what?
- 18:11Speaker 4: Don't even worry about it. I'll just get a garbage
- 18:13Speaker 4: bag and I'll just throw it all away.
- 18:15Speaker 3: And then she freaked. and starts picking up. Yeah.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I go, no, don't worry about it.
- 18:19Speaker 3: I'll just throw it away.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Can I tell you what she said to me the
- 18:22Speaker 1: other night?
- 18:22Speaker 5: Okay.
- 18:24Speaker 1: She's, she's talked to me over and over again about
- 18:27Speaker 1: the same thing. I forgot what it was. And she's like,
- 18:29Speaker 1: needs to go to the bathroom before she gets in
- 18:31Speaker 1: the bath and she's on the toilet. And I say
- 18:34Speaker 1: to her, Ocean, you have to stop verbally waterboarding me.
- 18:38Speaker 2: And she goes, mom, I know.
- 18:40Speaker 1: And tomorrow I know it's Sosa's birthday and I will
- 18:42Speaker 1: not verbally waterboard you.
- 18:45Speaker 3: At least she knows.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Like, let's start it now.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Start it now.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Did she waterboard you?
- 18:50Speaker 2: Yes, she knows no other way. She's going to go
- 18:52Speaker 2: places in life, let me tell you.
- 18:53Speaker 3: She doesn't know how to shut the fuck up.
- 18:56Speaker 5: She just keeps, she'll ask you until the answer she
- 18:59Speaker 5: wants is what she gets.
- 19:01Speaker 1: She always gets what she wants because I just can't
- 19:03Speaker 1: take it anymore.
- 19:04Speaker 2: No, we let her open another gift today.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Because you just don't want to deal.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Because I couldn't deal.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Yeah. Very few memories of my dad, and then she
- 19:13Speaker 1: has in parentheses, alcoholic. But he made the most extravagant
- 19:17Speaker 1: snow forts.
- 19:18Speaker 2: That sounds lit. And you know what?
- 19:20Speaker 1: I love that we did this because it's little moments
- 19:23Speaker 1: like that where someone gets to remember something that was good,
- 19:27Speaker 1: even if they didn't have many memories with their dad.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Right. They remember the snow forts.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Snow forts.
- 19:31Speaker 1: And that is not easy to hold.
- 19:33Speaker 5: I can just picture him just hammered out there, just
- 19:35Speaker 5: building that snow fort.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Just hammered out there. Just fucking going at that snow fort.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Oh, that's so cute. My friend and I sleeping in
- 19:43Speaker 1: sleeping bags on my front porch all summer long.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Let's do the back porch. i wish you could do
- 19:49Speaker 2: that anymore different time we used to do that with
- 19:53Speaker 2: the neighbor.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I know we set a tent up in the front yard.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Well let's be honest here even if we did it
- 19:59Speaker 5: in the back it's not like we had a gate
- 20:00Speaker 5: no walk right in i know it was the kids
- 20:04Speaker 5: Different times.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Scary time.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I know, but let's just go with.
- 20:08Speaker 2: What's their name? Morgan and Daniel.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Yeah, we had a hell of a time.
- 20:11Speaker 2: How fun.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Wow.
- 20:13Speaker 2: And Tally. And Tally and Steven.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Wow, what a little cul-de-sac we had.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Blockbuster movie night. The best Hollywood video for me. On 33rd.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Guys.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Or not 33rd.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Can I change my childhood memory?
- 20:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 1: That.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Going with dad. Dad. to hollywood video yeah we'd go like.
- 20:35Speaker 5: Every friday you know what and i would rent a
- 20:38Speaker 5: video game that i'd play all weekend and then he
- 20:40Speaker 5: would grab like a couple movies but it was like
- 20:43Speaker 5: sometimes a friend would come and then we'd be like
- 20:45Speaker 5: oh we need a two-player game but dad would walk
- 20:47Speaker 5: around with us and then he'd like he'd come up
- 20:49Speaker 5: and he'd be like here i got some snacks for
- 20:51Speaker 5: you and it would just be like a couple snacks
- 20:53Speaker 5: for us and then we'd go check out and drive home.
- 20:56Speaker 4: And you know what my core memory was Paying all
- 20:59Speaker 4: the late fees on all of the things.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Oh, the 85 cent late fees.
- 21:04Speaker 3: No, they got into the dollars.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Oh.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Well, so I didn't have a car to take them back.
- 21:10Speaker 2: I needed a mother to tell me. I love how
- 21:13Speaker 2: she's blaming you.
- 21:14Speaker 5: My fucking son, my eight-year-old son didn't get this damn
- 21:18Speaker 5: thing back on time.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Well, it was miles away and I'm sorry. I couldn't drive.
- 21:24Speaker 5: That's where your mother goes, Easton, it's Friday. This goes
- 21:28Speaker 5: back Monday. And then on Monday, that's where you go
- 21:30Speaker 5: up to your son. I didn't know you.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Had gone with your dad to rent them.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Sounds like a you and dad issue.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Sounds like a you and dad problem, not an eight-year-old
- 21:38Speaker 5: problem that he can't get the fucking game back.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Yeah, let me go out. Could you picture me walking
- 21:43Speaker 2: two miles in the dark? I have to get my
- 21:46Speaker 2: Hollywood video back. No, you're taking the damn lengthy.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Swinging in the backyard with my brothers on baseball.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Or on an actual swing.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Oh.
- 22:01Speaker 3: I went with the swing.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Oh, baseball.
- 22:05Speaker 5: I'm thinking they had like a swing set and they
- 22:07Speaker 5: would all swing together because I think she would have
- 22:10Speaker 5: said baseball in the backyard with my brothers.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Maybe she did both. My dad walking me down our
- 22:20Speaker 1: driveway to the bus every morning.
- 22:22Speaker 2: What bus is picking you up at the end of
- 22:24Speaker 2: your driveway? Where do you live? I'm getting in a
- 22:27Speaker 2: car to take to the bus stop. How do I
- 22:29Speaker 2: get that treatment? How do I get that treatment?
- 22:42Speaker 1: Playing board games with my grandpa and dad oh another
- 22:45Speaker 1: one rummy cube oh yeah and dad making fun of you.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yeah the bolt so good dad.
- 22:55Speaker 5: Hated you when we played that because you're such a
- 22:57Speaker 5: little cunt when you win oh.
- 22:58Speaker 1: My god dropping the c word a lot on this podcast.
- 23:02Speaker 3: And your dad never used that word Ever.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Ever.
- 23:05Speaker 2: I know.
- 23:05Speaker 5: And there's some things that I don't want to be
- 23:07Speaker 5: exactly like my dad.
- 23:09Speaker 4: All right.
- 23:09Speaker 1: My mom coming to every single sports.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Event I had. Oh, I wish I had that memory.
- 23:15Speaker 2: You didn't. Get up. Go.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Remember, I'd scream.
- 23:19Speaker 5: No.
- 23:19Speaker 2: And grandma be with the cowbell every time.
- 23:21Speaker 6: Here's the thing.
- 23:22Speaker 2: My mom was always. Here's the thing.
- 23:24Speaker 5: We had to be there an hour early. Then the
- 23:26Speaker 5: game would start. So, like, I didn't get to, like,
- 23:27Speaker 5: see my mom before the game. But I would be
- 23:30Speaker 5: in the game and I.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Would just hear her go.
- 23:35Speaker 5: And I would go, my fucking mom is here now.
- 23:38Speaker 5: I hated it so much. Oh, but now looking back,
- 23:41Speaker 5: I love it.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Oh, I like your mom. Everyone is just in all
- 23:46Speaker 2: you hear is your mom going. Yeah. You're like, all right,
- 23:49Speaker 2: quiet down, bitch. Make me look bad.
- 23:51Speaker 1: And dad was at every single thing to dad. Drop
- 23:54Speaker 1: me off at eight, eight, like, cause we had games
- 23:57Speaker 1: at nine. So we'd get dropped off at eight. Dad
- 23:59Speaker 1: would drop me off, go find his parking spot. And
- 24:02Speaker 1: then he'd walk with his coffee and then he'd hang
- 24:04Speaker 1: out with like a couple other dads and watch us.
- 24:07Speaker 2: That's another core memory.
- 24:08Speaker 1: My dad would send my sister and I flowers at
- 24:11Speaker 1: school on Valentine's Day.
- 24:13Speaker 3: That's cute.
- 24:13Speaker 2: I'm taking that. I'm doing that for your kids and
- 24:16Speaker 2: then mine.
- 24:17Speaker 1: That's really sweet. The frilly underwear with the days of
- 24:21Speaker 1: the week on them.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Ocean needs those.
- 24:24Speaker 1: No, Ocean has one pair and it says Tuesday. And
- 24:27Speaker 1: when I put them on her and it's like Friday,
- 24:29Speaker 1: I feel guilty.
- 24:30Speaker 4: Really?
- 24:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm like, this looks like, when I put you
- 24:33Speaker 1: in these, it makes me feel like I don't care.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Because it's not Tuesday. Then throw them away. Friday. Friday.
- 24:38Speaker 2: She likes them.
- 24:39Speaker 5: But what's cooler is like wearing a Thursday on like
- 24:42Speaker 5: a Saturday.
- 24:42Speaker 2: That's true.
- 24:44Speaker 1: My dad giving me everything I ever wanted. He passed
- 24:47Speaker 1: away in May and I will always remember. Oh, that's
- 24:51Speaker 1: such a dad thing to do.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Your mom won't.
- 24:54Speaker 2: There's another video of a guy.
- 24:56Speaker 1: That's like what my dad would do.
- 24:57Speaker 2: And he's crying in the car because his daughter wanted
- 25:00Speaker 2: a stuffy.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:01Speaker 2: He was like, you have too many of them. And
- 25:04Speaker 2: then he was driving.
- 25:05Speaker 3: You showed me this, I sobbed.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Yeah. Keep going, tell us more.
- 25:07Speaker 5: And he just was like in the car and he
- 25:09Speaker 5: starts crying and he goes, you know, and time's passing
- 25:11Speaker 5: and he goes, and there's going to be a day
- 25:14Speaker 5: where she doesn't ask me for a stuffy. And he goes,
- 25:16Speaker 5: so what did I do? And he like puts it
- 25:18Speaker 5: up and he goes, I went and got her another stuffy.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Oh, that's sweet.
- 25:21Speaker 5: I know, because he knows there's going to be a
- 25:23Speaker 5: day where that's not, like even, I wish I bought
- 25:25Speaker 5: Ocean more labubus.
- 25:27Speaker 2: She doesn't care about him anymore.
- 25:28Speaker 5: Because she doesn't ask for him anymore. And it's like,
- 25:30Speaker 5: you're in the good old days and you don't even
- 25:32Speaker 5: know it. Like, think, when she wanted to go into
- 25:34Speaker 5: those little pop marts, she'd grab it and I'd be like,
- 25:36Speaker 5: you don't need anymore.
- 25:37Speaker 2: And it's like, wow. She's into wontons now. Fucking dumplings.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Oh, dumplings.
- 25:41Speaker 2: But guess what?
- 25:42Speaker 1: She's into wontons.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Well, I didn't know what they were called.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Oh, my God. But guess what? There's going to be
- 25:51Speaker 2: a day where she doesn't want them. This, yeah, they're, well, yeah.
- 25:57Speaker 2: And I know you're thinking, and I.
- 25:58Speaker 5: Can't wait for it, but we were also saying that
- 26:00Speaker 5: about the La Boo Boo, and now I wish it
- 26:01Speaker 5: was back.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I like this one, the giant parachute game in gym class.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Do you remember that?
- 26:07Speaker 5: The best.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I also remember playing dodgeball and one too many people
- 26:09Speaker 1: getting smacked in the head, so then we had to
- 26:11Speaker 1: play dodgeball with rolled up socks.
- 26:13Speaker 2: No way.
- 26:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Dodgeball, you can't even play it in school. It's illegal.
- 26:17Speaker 4: No, they had dodgeball at the school we went to
- 26:20Speaker 4: on Saturday for their event.
- 26:22Speaker 2: That's because it's not school. That's extracurricular.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Is dodgeball there?
- 26:26Speaker 3: In the gymnasium.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:28Speaker 2: And I could be wrong, but look it up. I'm
- 26:30Speaker 2: pretty sure that dodgeball is no longer available. But it's
- 26:33Speaker 2: probably the.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Waist down that you can hit.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Yeah, but those kids.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Have no control over. Sometimes they just get away from you, man.
- 26:38Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I want to read three more and we'll make it quick.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Joy rides in my mom's Jeep with the top off
- 26:46Speaker 1: listening to Fleetwood Mac.
- 26:47Speaker 2: I love this because you love Fleetwood Mac. But also
- 26:50Speaker 2: do you remember Brandon's Jeep?
- 26:52Speaker 5: Yes.
- 26:52Speaker 1: That we would drive around with the top off and
- 26:54Speaker 1: no doors.
- 26:55Speaker 5: Can I tell you one thing about Dodgeball? Dodgeball is
- 26:59Speaker 5: not universally banned. But its permission depends entirely on local
- 27:05Speaker 5: school district police and state rules.
- 27:09Speaker 2: We had to bring the police department in for dodgeball, guys.
- 27:12Speaker 2: So there's that.
- 27:14Speaker 1: It's a brutal game. It's violent. Have you guys seen
- 27:17Speaker 1: the movie Dodgeball? My mom cooking cinnamon rolls every Saturday.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Yum. Replaced that with dad.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Do you remember the orange cinnamon rolls he would make
- 27:26Speaker 1: from Pillsbury?
- 27:27Speaker 5: When I'd wake up and I could smell them and
- 27:29Speaker 5: they were in that little... Silver, like, or the glass
- 27:33Speaker 5: cake thing.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Yeah, with the top. Yeah, I take it off. Nice
- 27:36Speaker 2: and steamy so that the frosting stayed frosty. Oh, dad,
- 27:40Speaker 2: you delightful bastard. And then mom rolling out of bed.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Sleepies in her eyes. Because she was vacuuming in my
- 27:47Speaker 2: room at 3 a.m.? Yeah, for real.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Shit. This person said nothing. Hashtag traumatized.
- 27:55Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Just no core memories?
- 27:59Speaker 1: She said she's traumatized. Anyway.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Oh, that's sad.
- 28:03Speaker 2: You guys, thank you for listening. We can't end on that.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Well, she can create or he can create memories with
- 28:09Speaker 4: his kids or pets now.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Way to make it even more depressing.
- 28:15Speaker 1: You want me to end with this one? Riding my
- 28:16Speaker 1: bike around town from sunup to sundown. No phone, just vibes.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Oh, that is a good one.
- 28:22Speaker 4: Can I tell you my core memory of doing that?
- 28:24Speaker 3: I had my dog. Billy John was his name in Georgia.
- 28:29Speaker 2: The dog's name was Billy John? Yeah, and then my.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Well, it was BJ, but I know you guys would go.
- 28:36Speaker 2: I don't like this dog at all. What kind of
- 28:40Speaker 2: dog was BJ?
- 28:42Speaker 3: It was a mutt.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Small, big?
- 28:43Speaker 3: Medium. It was black and white. It was so cute.
- 28:47Speaker 4: And he'd just run alongside my bike all over the
- 28:51Speaker 4: neighborhood with John Bush and his dog, Colonel.
- 28:56Speaker 2: And that's what we do every day of the summer.
- 28:59Speaker 2: I can't believe you had Colonel. You had BJ and JB.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Rat and dirty. That's so cute. I love this for you.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Did John Bush ever tag BJ?
- 29:09Speaker 4: Georgia. And we'd get like jars and go get tadpoles
- 29:13Speaker 4: in the forest.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Oh, so you haven't always been against captivity.
- 29:17Speaker 2: We'd let them go. Oh, catch and release type of bitch.
- 29:20Speaker 2: I love that.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Yeah, just so we could see them.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Aw. Mom, I love this for you.
- 29:26Speaker 2: That is so fun.
- 29:27Speaker 3: And I had a horse, too, back then.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Oh, what was the horse's name?
- 29:31Speaker 4: Socks.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Socks?
- 29:33Speaker 3: Had little socks on the back leg.
- 29:34Speaker 2: That's so cute.
- 29:36Speaker 3: And I go riding every day, too.
- 29:38Speaker 2: What I would give to watch you as a child.
- 29:40Speaker 3: I had fun.
- 29:42Speaker 2: I feel like you were aloof.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Ditsy little baby girl Hutton. That's a good one to
- 29:47Speaker 1: end it on. I love you guys.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Thank you for listening. We'll catch you next week.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Bye. Thank you.
