- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, thanks.
- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm so glad you're listening to the Second no More podcast.
- 0:04Speaker 1: I'm Teresa Croft, coming at you in a different day, but the subject of faith and business is weighing heavy on my mind today as I talk to my friends on TikTok and I talk to you across social media and on the podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 1: So, listen, what do you do with the setbacks in your business?
- 0:28Speaker 1: Like it could be setbacks?
- 0:29Speaker 1: Oh man, I'm just can't sell this course or setbacks.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I got a plan, but it's not working out, and so I'm going to explore how faith can turn an obstacle into a stepping stone.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I'm going to talk about the components of faith that can actually help you in the midst of your journey as a business person, whether you are selling products, where you are going after something that's a long-term, or whether you're really trying to serve.
- 0:59Speaker 1: And, of course, hey, listen, we got to make money.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Let's be real right, we got to make money.
- 1:04Speaker 1: What's interesting, one of my coaches has always told me if you make the mission, your purpose, the mission to serve, the mission to really help people, to connect with people, which is really my heart then the money takes care of itself.
- 1:20Speaker 1: And it's really true.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And I'm in the midst of.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I'm not selling, I'm connecting with people and I so enjoy it, and then in the back end, there might come a sell or there might not.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Am I upset with that?
- 1:31Speaker 1: No, I know there's many faith-filled people that are really struggling to sell their digital product.
- 1:38Speaker 1: They've been with it for years.
- 1:39Speaker 1: How does faith become a component for that?
- 1:46Speaker 1: So I thought about it and I went back in time the other day.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I was driving around, I had to get my car serviced and I had to wait and for some reason, the Holy Spirit told me to go buy this house that we used to live in years ago, and it was 2009.
- 2:01Speaker 1: And I'll never forget it.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I was sitting at my kitchen table and I had retired from radio for about three years now and I really wanted to do stuff.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I loved being online this was before Facebook Live, mind you and I remember just like sitting there, kind of interjecting, and then I remember asking God can faith and business mix?
- 2:22Speaker 1: I think I used the word term ministry.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I don't use that term now because, anyway, that's another story.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Ministry can be seen as religion and poverty spirit, but back then I was like can it?
- 2:33Speaker 1: And I'll never forget it.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I just happened to open up my MacBook Pro, and I just happened to get to a video where these two prominent people in the faith kingdom they were talking about just that that, yes, faith and business can go together, and it was almost like 2009.
- 2:53Speaker 1: It was almost like God said yes, teresa, you can go and not be bipolar.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Okay, I'm going to talk about business, I'm not going to talk about faith.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Or, I'm going to talk about faith and not talk about business.
- 3:04Speaker 1: You can't be bipolar, you can integrate it, because if you're truly serving from who you are, you're not going to separate yourself.
- 3:13Speaker 1: So that was quite a memory, and so, for the last, however many years, I have done different ventures, sometimes overwhelmed.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Sometimes I had my own little journey with a marriage.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Oh, that's sweet.
- 3:31Speaker 1: So I had my own little journey.
- 3:33Speaker 1: It's not my identity, but I had 26 years of control in a marriage, so I was just getting on to something and I was stopped.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I can remember, though, knowing how important our voice was, and something really struck me as I delivered a speech on stage last month in San Diego, and God reminded me something of a principle that I think goes right along with business.
- 3:59Speaker 1: So hang in me, let me unpack this just a little bit.
- 4:02Speaker 1: So back then, in the midst of the cacophony of a very controlling marriage, I would journal.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I had a relationship with God, I had faith and every morning I was like I would hear something.
- 4:15Speaker 1: It was like listen to the vine dresser, it's like, and I would write what he said.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I did that for so many years Later on.
- 4:22Speaker 1: What he said, I did that for so many years Later on.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Now he's passed, almost three years Later on, god showed me something I was creating the way God creates in the voice of the Father.
- 4:42Speaker 1: So I believe, when you bring faith into the subject of selling your products, doing what you can for your digital marketing business or your whatever business you have, like some of you are coaches, some of you are amazing entrepreneurs and some of you are just amazing business people, businesswomen, businessmen, and I'm and I thought about that Can you create the way God creates, wow.
- 5:06Speaker 1: So we're just going to unpack that, okay a little bit and see if we can't block someone while we're talking.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Welcome to my podcast, to the live world of TikTok live and going live for a podcast.
- 5:24Speaker 1: So I was thinking about it.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Okay, I had faith in God.
- 5:30Speaker 1: And then God whispered another thing.
- 5:31Speaker 1: He said I've called you a faithpreneur.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Now I take it seriously when God calls me something.
- 5:37Speaker 1: At the beginning of the year he called me a voice revivalist and I thought, okay, I'll fit that into a business plan.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Three months later, the radio station I used to work 18 years ago.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Three months later I went back on the radio and their call letters.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Their slogan was Victory 91.5, the sound of revival.
- 6:01Speaker 1: So since March I've been working on the radio station part-time voice revival.
- 6:06Speaker 1: It's the sound of revival.
- 6:07Speaker 1: But some things hit the wind, because I feel so passionate to talk about faith and business and how having faith can actually be a grounding place for which you to succeed, which you to come over.
- 6:20Speaker 1: The setbacks come over those times when, hey, I've been trying to sell this product, they said it was just two hours a day and I can't do it To go through and watch people struggle, and when my heart is to serve to connect.
- 6:33Speaker 1: So grounding your purpose and faith.
- 6:37Speaker 1: What does that do?
- 6:38Speaker 1: Can I just give you a few things that I know it's done for me and I think it can make you a better business person, whether you believe or not.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Faith individuals Okay, you have faith in yourself.
- 6:49Speaker 1: That's great.
- 6:50Speaker 1: You have faith in the universe, that you're welcome here.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I just happen to have faith in God because I have a relationship with God.
- 6:56Speaker 1: So this is some things.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I was praying about this and thinking about this.
- 6:59Speaker 1: How could I articulate the strengths that you can have by having faith in your business?
- 7:06Speaker 1: I'm sorry I put that down.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I broke my hand.
- 7:08Speaker 1: So the first thing is clarity.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Faith makes your why even more clear.
- 7:14Speaker 1: When things are unclear, you can start to scroll around I've been there, done that but there's faith in what you know that God has told you to go in.
- 7:28Speaker 1: So faith brings you clarity.
- 7:30Speaker 1: It's amazing how, when you really put your trust I'll put my hand up here, because this one's kind of looking rough it's amazing how that can bring clarity.
- 7:40Speaker 1: And you know what?
- 7:41Speaker 1: The first thing that happens you learn with your faith to simplify things.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Okay, I know I've got a plan.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I'm not going to be all over the place, I'm going to simplify things.
- 7:52Speaker 1: The second thing is huge.
- 7:54Speaker 1: It's resilience when challenges arise.
- 7:59Speaker 1: There's something about the backbone of your backbone being your faith in God and your relationship with God.
- 8:04Speaker 1: That becomes the resilience to go through business.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Being an entrepreneur can be lonely, it can be hard.
- 8:11Speaker 1: It's all up to you.
- 8:13Speaker 1: But when you face resilience and you know that you're called, do you know that you're called?
- 8:19Speaker 1: Who knows that they're called here?
- 8:21Speaker 1: Raise your hand if you're with me.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Who knows you're called?
- 8:25Speaker 1: You're set apart for such a time as this, I really believe.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Can I talk about calling and then the resilience to be there.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I really am just focusing and just been taken over by the story of Joseph.
- 8:39Speaker 1: He was roaring, he was amazing, he had a coat of many colors, but he made his brothers jealous.
- 8:46Speaker 1: That happens in business.
- 8:48Speaker 1: When you've got an anointing.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Sometimes people are going to be offended by the majesty of God on your life.
- 8:53Speaker 1: But what was the journey?
- 8:55Speaker 1: He went from the pit I mean without going through his stories and he eventually was set before the leader of the country.
- 9:02Speaker 1: And what did he do?
- 9:03Speaker 1: He explained the game plan.
- 9:04Speaker 1: What was going to happen?
- 9:05Speaker 1: We're going to have some famine here.
- 9:07Speaker 1: We're going to have some fat times.
- 9:08Speaker 1: We're going to have some famine.
- 9:09Speaker 1: What are you going to do about it?
- 9:12Speaker 1: I believe God is setting up Josephs in this hour.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Yeah, josephs that are going to make good money and they're not going to be focusing on the money as much as on serving.
- 9:24Speaker 1: And the money comes and they're going to be good stewards, they're going to have financial literacy and know how to handle the money, and then you know what those Josephs become.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Those Josephs become the hero of your families.
- 9:37Speaker 1: So I want to see rising up in resilience and you become the Joseph, you become the really I guess you could say savior of the situation.
- 9:47Speaker 1: So we're talking about feelings of being set back and we're exploring how faith can turn an obstacle into not just a stepping stone but a part of your journey, giving you clarity, giving you resilience where your resilience can bounce off to someone else, and then focused purpose.
- 10:07Speaker 1: There's something about for me personally, there's something about when God says something.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Like he said Teresa, faithpreneur, I want you to be a faith.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I don't want you to separate your business, your digital marketing business, mastering online profits.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I don't want you to separate what your ownership in a company is from who you are and who you believe and what you're all about.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I said, okay, god, about the time that I was thinking that I went to see Paul Getter.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Paul Getter, amazing marketer.
- 10:40Speaker 1: He's done worked with some of the best.
- 10:42Speaker 1: If I name dropped, you would know him.
- 10:43Speaker 1: But I'm not going to try to name drop all of them and I happened to go to a mastermind with him with Mastering Online Profits.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I happened to go to a mastermind with this gentleman and I remember afterwards we could talk to him and I just said, paul, I'm like you.
- 10:59Speaker 1: He's a pastor.
- 11:00Speaker 1: He drops in gold nuggets about faith and then he's dropping gold nuggets about marketing.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I said I don't want to separate those two and he says you don't have to.
- 11:10Speaker 1: He said if someone doesn't like your faith, they're not your ideal client.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Okay, okay.
- 11:17Speaker 1: So there's something about being able to speak about my faith Like you can have faith in yourself, you can have faith in the universe or you can have faith in God.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I'm just coming to you and talking to you about faith and how.
- 11:28Speaker 1: What are the principles, what are the bedrocks where that can help you as a business person?
- 11:35Speaker 1: Clarity, resilience and then focus purpose.
- 11:39Speaker 1: It's like you get to stay aligned.
- 11:42Speaker 1: It's like I get up in the morning and my focus purposes.
- 11:45Speaker 1: That's my focus purpose.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Okay, for getting up in the morning.
- 11:49Speaker 1: It's even part of my business plan.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Do I go and write down all my ideas?
- 11:52Speaker 1: Do I shoot live TikToks?
- 11:54Speaker 1: Do I go on TikTok.
- 11:55Speaker 1: No, I spend time because I'm in relationship with God, so I spend time listening to him.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I spend time in my number one business pursuit is taking good care of me, and how I take good care of me is stay in an intimate relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
- 12:16Speaker 1: If that sounds foreign to you, that's okay, I understand, it's okay.
- 12:22Speaker 1: But part of that then brings the clarity, brings the resilience and brings a focused purpose.
- 12:29Speaker 1: So what are some practical tips?
- 12:31Speaker 1: These are my tips.
- 12:32Speaker 1: They might not work for you, but they sure the heck work for me.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I think the biggest one is I say that I get up, I have to pause and rest, and when I say rest, I'm not necessarily talking about a physical rest, although it is.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Part of.
- 12:49Speaker 1: The rest is to pray and listen.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Sometimes you just need to take a step back and, like I said, when I have taken steps back, he has talked to me At the beginning of the year you're a voice revivalist working at a radio station, the sound of revival, speaking on three or four stages, telling the story of how I won the war on my voice a voice revivalist, but my voice is really focused on serving.
- 13:19Speaker 1: So when he said to me a few days ago, you're a faithpreneur.
- 13:22Speaker 1: I said faith and entrepreneur.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Okay, this may sound too simple, but then how do you walk that out?
- 13:29Speaker 1: Granted, you need training.
- 13:32Speaker 1: You need someone to tell you about attraction marketing, about the algorithm, about hooks, about call to actions, about CTAs and optimizing things.
- 13:43Speaker 1: You got to know what you're doing.
- 13:45Speaker 1: You got to learn from someone.
- 13:47Speaker 1: But if you think of learning from a mentor and getting help from someone who has the data to prove what he's saying works, you say where's faith in that?
- 13:58Speaker 1: It's everything.
- 13:59Speaker 1: You got the faith, you got the clarity, you got the resilience to hang in there, to dig deep and to learn from some of the best.
- 14:07Speaker 1: So pause and pray.
- 14:10Speaker 1: The second one just, we're going to round up this podcast.
- 14:13Speaker 1: We might talk more here.
- 14:14Speaker 1: The second one is how do I say this?
- 14:18Speaker 1: God's promises are yes and amen.
- 14:20Speaker 1: To remind yourself of what his promises are, and they may be promises just to you, but there's nothing like saying them out loud, for I know the plans I have for you Jeremiah 29, verse 11.
- 14:32Speaker 1: It's really interesting.
- 14:34Speaker 1: When I first started reading the Bible as a 16 year old, I made a commitment I would read five minutes a day.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I was into sports.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I was on my way to collegiate golf and I'll never forget it.
- 14:44Speaker 1: They mentioned athletes and so that started a five-minute journey that turned to 10.
- 14:50Speaker 1: By the time I was in college.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Maybe it was a little religious, but I had to get up at five so I can have at least two hours in the Word.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I'm not that way today.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I may have an hour due, but do you see that God's promises to you are personal?
- 15:08Speaker 1: And then I think God's got the wittiest marketing strategy.
- 15:13Speaker 1: So I'm saying pause and pray and affirming God's promises daily.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I remember early on, like I said, I got that call in 2009.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I got the answer that, yeah, faith and business can go together.
- 15:25Speaker 1: So I got that in 2009.
- 15:26Speaker 1: And I remember in that time, after I would be spending time with God and I'd get a marketing idea and I'd try to push it away oh, I can't do it, I'm having my quiet time, no, and God said oh, actually I heard a pastor say hey, listen, you're having your time with your God.
- 15:47Speaker 1: You're having time with God and he gives you an idea or he gives you a name.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Don't you think you should write it down?
- 15:49Speaker 1: It's one of my best marketing strategies came when I was having time with God Voice, revivalist, faithpreneur, that's just the last few years.
- 15:58Speaker 1: And then, finally, when you have faith in your business, you're able to just reframe the setbacks as preparations, like, a lot of my setbacks happened inside my marriage, but I was always fighting for my voice, despite the control.
- 16:14Speaker 1: When someone doesn't deal with the brokenness of their soul, they're really unable to love properly.
- 16:19Speaker 1: So then you get the jealousy and the control and all the stuff that flares up.
- 16:26Speaker 1: So I believe, okay, let's say, you're in that situation, man, I can't go forward.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I've got a husband that doesn't believe.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I got a spouse that doesn't believe in me.
- 16:32Speaker 1: That's where, once again, you go back and you create the way God creates.
- 16:37Speaker 1: And that one simple act it doesn't mean thee thou, thy, oh, I got it right.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Create the way God creates.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Does it have to have thee thou?
- 16:47Speaker 1: Do I have to mention Jesus every time?
- 16:49Speaker 1: No, some of my friends that create the way God does in their singing Rebecca, in their amazing business plans.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Michelle Tufford, I see these people, michelle Schaefer, leading a movement called Kingdom Alliance.
- 17:04Speaker 1: They are creating the way God creates and oftentimes there is community, there is service, there is support, even though the company I'm a part of.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Even though they don't say anything about God or faith, they are creating the way God creates John Francis and the group, because they're teaching people who are struggling to sell their products.
- 17:30Speaker 1: They're teaching them principles to be able to sell their products.
- 17:32Speaker 1: They're helping people from that DGC group not to slime them but to say, hey, you want to come along and learn this and you can apply that.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Or hey, come on over here and you can sell this, because this is the number one thing that is lately that's come out, that is, step by step, showed people how to sell the products.
- 17:51Speaker 1: So I'm gonna end this on the podcast and say thank you so much for listening to the second number podcast I hope you enjoyed.
- 18:00Speaker 1: We'll be talking more about digital marketing and actually just marketing and finding ways for you to be the hero of your family.
- 18:07Speaker 1: So stay tuned.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Episode and you know it, I'll talk to you.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I really do love you and I'll talk to you in the next bit.
