- 0:12Hello and welcome to Nick and Kristen in the podcast.
- 0:14I'm Nick. That's Kristen, and this is the
- 0:18podcast. This is where the titles would
- 0:21play. Exactly.
- 0:22Yes, Going the news route today. I like it, though better more
- 0:26succinctly than the original sputter out that we normally.
- 0:29Get from you I. Don't know what I don't know.
- 0:32And then we'd like, you know, we were married and they got a kid.
- 0:34We you don't have to. Explain this.
- 0:36I know. So Krista made the the the made
- 0:41it apparent that she wants to start advertising the show now,
- 0:44so she's ready to grow the podcast.
- 0:47Well, I mean, if I'm going to do this, can we do something with
- 0:50it? Because it's like, I, I wanted
- 0:53to, I like the things that I do to be successful.
- 0:56I I know you're happy just talking into the ether, but I
- 1:00would like to maybe talk to more people and see if they also are
- 1:04interested in learning about two randos.
- 1:07When we started this, it was very much just to keep in touch
- 1:10with everyone that listened to the show before.
- 1:13And it's like, oh, you know, a month, six weeks, we'll be back
- 1:17on the air and we can just kind of, you know, push this aside.
- 1:21It was also kind of like, hey, future radio stations, like
- 1:24here's a snippet of what you could get.
- 1:26But the radio industry is not looking for anyone at the
- 1:30moment. And so this doesn't feel like a
- 1:33audition anymore. It just feels like something we
- 1:35do. And if that's going to be
- 1:36something we do, then let's make it successful.
- 1:39Let's put some advertising money behind it or something.
- 1:42Yeah. So we're shifting gears and
- 1:44we're going that way. So now that we have a sponsor,
- 1:46we're going to use that that sponsor money to advertise.
- 1:49Our podcast now, don't think it's going to get any better.
- 1:52I no it's. Like keep those expectations
- 1:54like hello. There may be some changes
- 1:57coming, possibly a set change. As we look at all the podcasts
- 2:02that we see, all the successful ones don't talk to the camera.
- 2:06Yeah, would it? Be weird to like, just talk to
- 2:10like if I just talked to you because I'm actually like
- 2:12looking at yeah. If I looked at you it would look
- 2:14weird on camera, so I'm. Gonna look over.
- 2:15I'm gonna look at the printer over here and now it looks like
- 2:17I'm looking at you, but I'm not. We're just having like a wedding
- 2:20conference, like, Oh yeah. Then this one guy, yeah, shot
- 2:23over there then. Yeah, like, so funny, right?
- 2:25I don't know, it feels weird. Feels weird, but I mean you
- 2:28could weigh in on the comments if you want.
- 2:30I know Randy will. Randy comments.
- 2:31Everything the best. And so my change the format a
- 2:34little bit and then we have to dial in what it is that we're.
- 2:37Talking a little more niche. Instead of us just being Nick
- 2:39and Kristen from the radio, now we have to be two independent
- 2:43entertainers that are focused on entertaining people that aren't
- 2:45you. Exactly so.
- 2:47Got to find something to talk about, but what do we have
- 2:49today? Well, today I'm glad you asked
- 2:52Godzilla. El Nino is.
- 2:53Coming is that. So first it was El Nino, then it
- 2:56was Super El Nino, and now they're like, this is the
- 2:59Godzilla of El. Nino, how is how is that
- 3:01record-breaking? It's.
- 3:03Not this is just people in. Paris, OK.
- 3:05It's a record-breaking El Nino that some guy on the news said
- 3:09Godzilla of El Nino. And it's it's going to be a
- 3:12doozy up until 2027. The waters are very warm in
- 3:15Peru, which is not cold. It sounds cold.
- 3:18Yeah, I'm knocking on the the waters.
- 3:21Waters are very warm in Peru. Oh yeah, you can come in those.
- 3:27Poor Peruvians. And so that's going to lead to
- 3:29massive flooding there, massive flooding in the West Coast
- 3:31United. States everything's fine
- 3:32because. They believe the Pacific
- 3:33Northwest, everything's good. It'll lead to droughts in
- 3:36Australia and Africa and all these other fun things, big
- 3:40storms, you know, good. Times.
- 3:42Why shouldn't this? Happen.
- 3:43Why shouldn't this? Happen.
- 3:44Why shouldn't have this happen now?
- 3:45They're saying it can have an even more global effect than the
- 3:49oil thing that's been happening. And so, yeah, you know.
- 3:54Why not? I'm tired.
- 3:57I'm tired of the everything else.
- 3:59Can I just say that I'm just like, I already got a lot going
- 4:02on personally, but the everything else is really the
- 4:05whipped cream and cherries on my my crap sundae.
- 4:08Yeah. I am a man that has spent my
- 4:10life just kind of caring about this this much space like this
- 4:14is where I'm like, hey, it doesn't affect me, doesn't care.
- 4:17And so and now, and now that it's it's forced upon me to not
- 4:21start caring outside of my bubble.
- 4:23I don't like it. Making me mad, I know.
- 4:26But so expect that that's going to be fun.
- 4:29Yeah, so is that rain? November, December, January,
- 4:32rain and just whatever that season is like.
- 4:35Elevated. I'm just going to assume that
- 4:37it's going to help me find more agates because you're supposed
- 4:39to look after rain storms, so I'm going to try to spin this as
- 4:43a pause. Hey that works for me.
- 4:44Let's go agate hunting after this.
- 4:47I worked out today for the. First time.
- 4:48So yeah, you said you dropped that subtly in a conversation
- 4:50and they didn't say anything. I know.
- 4:52And I was like. I was hating myself very much
- 4:56for the last week or two or, you know, 10 years and, and then I,
- 5:00I, I watched something on TikTok today that was, I've seen 20
- 5:04times and I was like, yeah, today's the day.
- 5:08Why am I, why am I just sitting here on my butt doing nothing?
- 5:11Time to get up and get get things done today.
- 5:13And so I did. It worked out.
- 5:15Well, what was the thing on TikTok that made you inspired
- 5:18you? Maybe it will inspire all of.
- 5:19Us well. Let me see.
- 5:20No, you don't have to show it to me.
- 5:22Just summarize. This.
- 5:22I'll add it. Here.
- 5:24Wow, that was an amazing video that I saw for the very first
- 5:27time. That would inspire me too.
- 5:30I haven't added My favorite part was the middle bit.
- 5:34We're recording this and I haven't seen the video yet.
- 5:36He's overlaying this later tonight.
- 5:39I'm gonna. What if all of your negative
- 5:41relatives turn positive? What would that do for your
- 5:43future and your fortune? What?
- 5:46Not much. What if prices came down a
- 5:50little? What'll that do for your future?
- 5:51Tons. I'm telling you, not much.
- 5:54No, it would. If the economy gets a little
- 5:55better. What'll that do?
- 5:56It would help very. Much, not much.
- 5:58No, it would help a lot, yeah, but I'm my whole world.
- 6:01I know, but it doesn't do anything for you and so
- 6:03basically. No, it does though, like.
- 6:05Find the things that do something for you and do those
- 6:08things like don't worry about all the other.
- 6:10It was, I don't know. Yeah, it's 8 minutes long.
- 6:12Do you like? I understand, but you
- 6:14understand. The failed don't get No, it's
- 6:16not because you didn't watch the whole thing.
- 6:17No, but like, OK, what the the thing that I can do is I can
- 6:21donate a ton of money to my 4-O1K.
- 6:23That's something that I can do to help the future.
- 6:25Yeah, Yeah. But.
- 6:26How are you going to get? Money.
- 6:27Well, no, I mean, I work, yeah, but like I'm just saying.
- 6:29And then the economy tanks and I lose everything.
- 6:32How? What is, How does that affect
- 6:34me? Very much, Very much, very much,
- 6:37but not much. No, no, like, like tremendous.
- 6:39Only when the recession hits. Yes, I know, but like.
- 6:42But if you invested in something that didn't go down, it's very
- 6:45it's very motivational isn't to what to get you off your butt to
- 6:49do. Something.
- 6:50OK, well, it's motivating. Your future for you SO.
- 6:53I understand. Sure, whatever.
- 6:54OK, so it it so you. Expect too much from some dude
- 6:57giving a speech. I'm just expect a lot.
- 6:59It's like, well, I need you to invest in these four things.
- 7:01No, no, I'm I'm. I'm using this as an example,
- 7:04right? Like you can, you can make light
- 7:08of anything, but it has rippling ramifications.
- 7:13You know what I mean? Like somebody that goes to a bar
- 7:16and has one drink too many and they go, how much is this going
- 7:18to affect me? Not much, but then they get into
- 7:21a car and then they kill somebody.
- 7:22Like how much does that affect you?
- 7:24Very much that's. Not on the not much list.
- 7:27I know it like you can't live your life.
- 7:29Like that, no, he's not saying make everything not much.
- 7:32He's saying focus on the things that you can do, yes.
- 7:35Focus on what? You can control and then do
- 7:37those things. Yes, but I think.
- 7:38They're just as easy to do as they are.
- 7:41Easy to then say that. Don't say that.
- 7:43Nothing needed. To watch the stupid video first,
- 7:45I haven't watched it in a minute so either way it got me up to go
- 7:48do. Something congratulations you
- 7:49worked out today that was something you could control and
- 7:51you did it. And how did you feel?
- 7:53What it? First of all, what did you do to
- 7:54workout? Well, I did the It's a Total
- 7:56Body workout on YouTube. Oh yeah, I love him.
- 7:57It's good times. Yeah, it's 30 minutes.
- 8:00And. And immediately my my bones were
- 8:02like screaming, yeah. My body was like, hell no.
- 8:05And I was like, Oh my God. I didn't realize I was so far
- 8:08gone. And then because of that, I was
- 8:10motivated to keep going. That's good.
- 8:12So like there was grunting today.
- 8:14I never grunt when I work out, so.
- 8:18But, you know, I felt, you know, wobbly afterwards, but I felt
- 8:21good, Good. I'm.
- 8:21Glad for you. I'm happy I did it.
- 8:23Yeah, I will try again to do it tomorrow because it's easy.
- 8:27How about it's? Something I can do?
- 8:28Yes, but like again, like when I was talking about expectations
- 8:33being lower, like lower the bar just a little bit because what
- 8:37you're doing is now you're going to be like everyday I'm going to
- 8:39work out. That's not sustainable.
- 8:41How about you worked out once this week and that's awesome.
- 8:45How about next week you can work out twice a week?
- 8:47Like no, Because This is why you.
- 8:49Burn out. Because then you're like, oh, I
- 8:51missed Wednesday. I give up completely.
- 8:53No, that's. How you feel?
- 8:54I'm not. I'm not taking it that way.
- 8:56I'm doing, I'm doing it when I can and I have a lot of time
- 9:00right now. So it's, it's me sitting here
- 9:04and going, I can play on my phone for 20 minutes.
- 9:06I can go work out. And so instead of sitting here
- 9:08doing nothing, I'm going to work out.
- 9:10If I have things to do, then I'll, I'll not work out.
- 9:12But like I'm not holding myself to a standard to do it every
- 9:15day, but I'm going to try and do it when I can't.
- 9:18So, okay. Because it's easy to do, yes,
- 9:22and I can do it, sure. But it's also easy to not do, so
- 9:24I've got to not not do. It yes, but I just think there
- 9:28needs to be some self like acceptance right of like hey,
- 9:33I'm not training for an Iron Man competition.
- 9:36It's not that. Kind of workout.
- 9:37It's OK if I do it twice this week and maybe try to do a third
- 9:42next week. Like don't.
- 9:44That's OK, But then on Friday you're.
- 9:46Like I'm so sore, I'm not going to do it at all.
- 9:48And then a week's going to go by and you'll be like, oh, I'm out
- 9:50of it now. It's not OK for me because if I
- 9:52do it today and I don't do it for a week, then I won't do it
- 9:54again. So I either now I have to, I
- 9:57have to do it every day because if I skip a day then it's like,
- 10:00Oh well I guess I can skip a day and be fine.
- 10:02Then it turns into oh I might as well skip 2 days so.
- 10:04I want to I want a screenshot or I want we're recording this
- 10:09obviously. So I would like to play this
- 10:11back in a week. OK, so next Monday we're going
- 10:14to play a clip of this this podcast and we'll see where we
- 10:18are. Let's see, should I write that
- 10:19down or you can remember? That no, you can just write it
- 10:21down. OK, yes I will do my best OK to
- 10:24work out this week and I'm trying to make better eating
- 10:29decisions. Yeah, you had a bagel for
- 10:31dinner. I.
- 10:32Had a bagel for dinner. That's all I had to eat so I
- 10:35could have. Where was my dinner because I
- 10:36came home and there was 0 food. In the house, I got to start you
- 10:39with a cake. And I'm starving.
- 10:41And I don't know what you want. So like anything, anything to
- 10:45eat. Well, you don't like Turkey
- 10:46sandwiches? That's what we got in the house.
- 10:47Yeah. OK.
- 10:48I didn't have another bagel or I would have made you a bagel.
- 10:51We don't. Really.
- 10:51Have bread. I made myself some pasta.
- 10:53There was that. So there's pasta.
- 10:55So I don't know if you want a boss.
- 10:56So now I have to take your order because I don't talk to you.
- 10:58All day I know just a simple like hey didn't make anything.
- 11:03You can grab something on the way home.
- 11:04Would help so I don't walk in and go.
- 11:09Oh, now I have to have dinner ready for you when you get home.
- 11:12Necessarily have to have dinner ready for me, but I'd like there
- 11:14to be some communication because I just.
- 11:17I'm going to assume that dinner was.
- 11:18I looked at, well, I made her dinner and then I looked at my
- 11:21options and I went, well, I don't want pasta.
- 11:23I'm trying to get better today. And I was like, well, there's a
- 11:25bagel. Was there any thought process to
- 11:27me? Yes, and it was very much like,
- 11:29I don't know what she wants. I didn't thaw anything.
- 11:33If she wants something when she gets home, she can have pasta.
- 11:36And then the time got away from me and you came home.
- 11:39So I was busy with the kid. Sure.
- 11:42Playing Making a lizard. Yeah, I know you guys made key
- 11:45chains, made a lizard. That's cool.
- 11:47Yeah, it's kinda cool. So, oh, I thought we were going
- 11:50to have time for this. We don't have any time for this.
- 11:51We've talked too much about me motivating myself.
- 11:54And so we're going to say goodbye after we tell you about
- 11:57the Clark County Trash Pandas. They are the sponsor for the
- 11:59show and they're going to be the now way we advertised the show.
- 12:03So the Clark County Trash Pandas are a slam dunk for Clark County
- 12:07basketball fans, bringing professional basketball, family
- 12:09friendly entertainment and a commitment to the community we
- 12:11call home. Nice.
- 12:13Didn't you play basketball? I did in high school.
- 12:15What position were you? In I have no idea.
- 12:17I was so bad. I have no idea.
- 12:19Well, I and to be fair, like I don't think it was entirely my
- 12:22fault. I don't think we had a really
- 12:23good coach. Doesn't.
- 12:24Seem like if you didn't. Really explain anything?
- 12:26It's just like, yeah, yeah, I was a freshman and like, I mean,
- 12:31maybe they explained something, but there was no yeah, like we
- 12:34lost every. Single game.
- 12:36Yeah, like it kind of felt like that.
- 12:38Like it felt like everybody knew how to play basketball except
- 12:41for me. And like nobody told me the
- 12:43rules. Like I felt like I was.
- 12:45Like, did you ever played before that?
- 12:47No, I like on a whim I tried out 'cause my friend tried out and I
- 12:50was like, oh, I'll try out too just for funsies.
- 12:52And they immediately were like, you're tall, come on the team.
- 12:55And I was like, well, this is something new for me to try.
- 12:57Like I'll try it for a year or whatever.
- 12:59And then like, it got frustrating because it's like
- 13:01we, I didn't like know the game. Like no one ever explained
- 13:04anything. We didn't have plays like.
- 13:07You get a bad coach. Yeah, like, and it was very much
- 13:09like, what are we doing? And like, I kept fouling out and
- 13:13like, at some point, like, I was always like, kicked out of the
- 13:15game near the end of the game. So like, why are you fouling
- 13:18people? Well, I didn't know what a foul
- 13:20was. Don't hunt anybody.
- 13:21Yeah, I know. But like I would like bump them
- 13:23and they'd be like and I'd be like, well, I didn't, I didn't
- 13:25know I couldn't do that. Like you can't like back up into
- 13:28like did. Everybody else foul out too, or
- 13:30just you? No, I mean, I think everybody
- 13:32had like issues, but I mean I was, I was the tall one, I
- 13:34think. And I was just like, I just try
- 13:37to make a basket. But like, again, like we just
- 13:39got our our butts handed to us every game.
- 13:42And it was really demoralizing because I'm like, why are we so
- 13:44bad? Like why are we not practicing?
- 13:47Did you practice? Yeah.
- 13:48Did you practice before the games like?
- 13:50Do we run drills? Like you pass to her and then
- 13:54she passes to you and all that kind of stuff?
- 13:55It's like, great, but like, that's not a play.
- 13:57That's not a play, but I I mean you should know how to.
- 14:00It was just a free for all. Every time we went on to the
- 14:03court, it was just like, we'll just take get the the basket,
- 14:05you know, just get the ball and make a basket.
- 14:07Yeah. It's like, well, yeah, but like,
- 14:09like how though? Like.
- 14:10Did you practice making baskets? I I'm sure we did, you know, I'm
- 14:13sure that was a majority of our thing.
- 14:15But again, it was just like, I don't know the rules.
- 14:17Yeah, that. Should be like.
- 14:19Should be something they teach. It was very confusing or maybe I
- 14:21just like was not invested. Yeah, either you're you to
- 14:24explain it and you were like whoosh or you.
- 14:26That sounds like a terrible. Couple, yeah, so.
- 14:27I don't know, if you had no place, then you must have just
- 14:30been the tall person that was. Like, you know, like, I don't
- 14:32know, give it to get. The ball, Kristen, just get the
- 14:34ball. You're taller than.
- 14:35Everybody, if it bounced off, it was my job to get it and either
- 14:38put it in if it it was our team, or grab it from somebody else.
- 14:41You don't. Even know that.
- 14:42Get the ball. Yeah, it was in great shape.
- 14:44Go get the ball. A lot of running.
- 14:45That's why I didn't get in basketball other.
- 14:47Than I'm tiny, other than, you know, the high thing and the
- 14:50athleticism thing. I had the athleticism thing.
- 14:53I could, Well, the grades thing, yeah, I could play.
- 14:55Basketball Nick was not able to participate in many high school
- 14:57sports. Not until the last couple years
- 14:59and then by then I was old and smoking so it was like tennis
- 15:03and go bowling. Neat.
- 15:06Anyway, I like basketball though, so I'll be out there.
- 15:08So go. Support the Clark County Trash
- 15:10Pandas. Their tickets go on sale in
- 15:11October and you can follow them on Facebook.
- 15:13These people know how to play basketball because they have a.
- 15:15Good cover, and they probably explain the rules at.
- 15:17Least once, yeah. Thanks for watching.
- 15:19We'll see you next time.
