  Speaker 1: has to say to us, because you know that's what

  Speaker 1: God does. He speaks to us. He didn't just give

  Speaker 1: us the Bible, uh, several 1000 years ago, and, uh,

  Speaker 1: there's some vague truth there that's for the ages that
• 0:29
  Speaker 1: we can find.

  Speaker 1: God is alive and active in your life, and His
• 0:35
  Speaker 1: Holy Spirit wants to take the word that He inspired

  Speaker 1: the Bible and apply it to you specifically. Now that
• 0:45
  Speaker 1: makes the Bible.

  Speaker 1: Something very different than just a dry book of collected

  Speaker 1: old words. It's the living God speaking to you in

  Speaker 1: your life, and you'll find this so much when you

  Speaker 1: begin taking time with God each day in the Bible

  Speaker 1: that God speaks to you personally, and you think, wow,

  Speaker 1: that couldn't have been orchestrated better for exactly what I need.

  Speaker 1: Well, God wants to speak into your life, and this
• 1:15
  Speaker 1: week we want to look at the topic of guidance,

  Speaker 1: having a clear sense from God of what He wants
• 1:22
  Speaker 1: to do in your life and what He wants you
• 1:25
  Speaker 1: to do with your life.

  Speaker 1: Maybe you're facing some big decisions about direction right now,

  Speaker 1: about your business or about your location or about uni
• 1:37
  Speaker 1: or the direction you're heading in life, or something about
• 1:42
  Speaker 1: right and wrong or about a relationship you're involved in,
• 1:46
  Speaker 1: and you need to know what does God want me

  Speaker 1: to do.

  Speaker 1: Well, I want to give you 5 principles this week,
• 1:53
  Speaker 1: and the first comes right out of a passage in
• 1:57
  Speaker 1: Matthew chapter 7 from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.

  Speaker 1: Jesus said, talking about prayer.

  Speaker 1: Ask and it will be given to you.

  Speaker 1: Seek and you will find. Knock and it will be
• 2:20
  Speaker 1: opened to you, for every one who asks receives, and

  Speaker 1: he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it
• 2:32
  Speaker 1: will be opened.

  Speaker 1: Well, this passage really is about persistence in praying to
• 2:40
  Speaker 1: God about things. The tense of the verbs that are
• 2:46
  Speaker 1: in this statement from Jesus in the Greek language it

  Speaker 1: was written down in.

  Speaker 1: Are very clearly an ongoing continuous tense. Keep on asking

  Speaker 1: and it will be given to you. Keep on seeking

  Speaker 1: and you will find. Keep on knocking and it will

  Speaker 1: be opened to you. Everyone who keeps on asking receives.

  Speaker 1: He who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who

  Speaker 1: keeps on knocking, it will be opened. Really, the message

  Speaker 1: here to us as we think about.

  Speaker 1: Wanting to know God's guidance on issues in our lives is,

  Speaker 1: you need to soak that decision you're facing in prayer.

  Speaker 1: Don't just come to God once flippantly saying, OK, show
• 3:34
  Speaker 1: me what you want me to do. Make it something
• 3:37
  Speaker 1: you repeatedly bring to God and ask God, would you
• 3:40
  Speaker 1: begin to shape my thinking on this, to match your
• 3:44
  Speaker 1: thinking on this? Would you get involved in my discussions
• 3:48
  Speaker 1: with people about this issue and bring some wisdom to me?

  Speaker 1: Would you please give me insight as I turn this
• 3:55
  Speaker 1: over and over in my mind.

  Speaker 1: God wants you to learn to make every major decision

  Speaker 1: in your life, be soaked in prayer.

  Speaker 1: Ask God for guidance because He wants to guide you.

  Speaker 1: Of course God wants you to be right in the
• 4:17
  Speaker 1: centre of His will for your life. And you know,

  Speaker 1: when you allow God to start shaping your life and
• 4:24
  Speaker 1: directing your life, you find the various aspects of your
• 4:28
  Speaker 1: life coming into balance, coming into focus. You feel like
• 4:32
  Speaker 1: your compass has been set.

  Speaker 1: There's nothing better than knowing you're going down the path
• 4:39
  Speaker 1: that God wants for you, because then you know God
• 4:42
  Speaker 1: will be with you every step of the way. Whatever
• 4:45
  Speaker 1: decision you're facing right now, whatever direction you need from
• 4:49
  Speaker 1: God to know which way to go forward, soak that
• 4:54
  Speaker 1: decision in prayer.
