- Adam Rutz: In 1995, Andre Agassi was the number one tennis player in the world. Two years later, he had fallen all the way down to number 141. This was a guy who had won multiple Grand Slam championships, and now he was playing in lower-level tournaments trying to get his career back on track. He was dealing with injuries, personal struggles, and a career that looked like it was pretty much falling apart. And if you judged Andre Agassi by where he stood in 1997, You probably would have thought his best days were behind him. But in 1999, Agassiz won the French Open and climbed all the way back to world number one. Now, here's what I love about his comeback. It didn't start when he lifted that trophy. It started when he made the decision to get back to work, to rebuild his fitness, to recommit to his preparation, to do all the little things every single day that would eventually put him back into a position to succeed. And I want you to apply that same mentality to your own life. Maybe you're going through a difficult stretch right now in your career. Maybe you've experienced failure or disappointment or something personally that's completely knocked you off track. Whatever it is, remember this. Your current circumstances are not your permanent destination. I'll say that again. Your current circumstances are not your permanent destination. Where you are today does not determine where you're capable of going tomorrow. But you have to make the decision to keep moving forward. Because as competitors, we're not preparing to become the best version of ourselves yesterday. We're preparing to become the best version of ourselves today, tomorrow, and every opportunity we get moving forward. So here's what I want you to ask yourself today. What can I do right now that's going to put me in a better position for my future? Then get after it. Because the setback you're experiencing right now might eventually become the chapter of your life that you're most proud of overcoming. Don't allow a temporary situation to permanently change what you believe you're capable of. Your past is already written, but your greatest chapter might still be ahead of you. Mindset, process, discipline, execution, that's mental performance daily.
