Transcript
- 0:00Welcome back to another episode of the After Hours podcast.
- 0:04On today's episode, we're bringing you one from final
- 0:06bout, our final bout seven trip. This was this was with Mike
- 0:10Jones. Mike Jones is better known as
- 0:12224 racing on Instagram. If you guys have followed him or
- 0:17know of him, he is on Team gleam from the Midwest Chicago area
- 0:22and 224 Racing. He basically used as an archive
- 0:26page for drifting. And I remember when I first
- 0:30found that page, it was, I followed it because it was just
- 0:32so much information about basically early drifting culture
- 0:37and 180SX styling and basically everything that has to do with
- 0:41what we're into here. So I followed that.
- 0:43I ended up meeting him maybe sometime around the final, about
- 0:473 or 4 I want to say. And yeah, he's just been, he's
- 0:52been a a good person to know, an awesome friend.
- 0:56And but the problem was we never really got to hang out with this
- 0:59guy because we only see them maybe once when we go to final
- 1:03bout and that's it. So I made sure to make a point
- 1:06to have this conversation with him on this trip.
- 1:09And wow, did we did we not know what we were getting into?
- 1:13This was one of the best podcasts me and Carl, me and
- 1:17Carl have ever done. Not even me and Carl.
- 1:19This is one of the best podcasts me, Carl, Eddie and Malcolm have
- 1:21ever done. The setup was amazing.
- 1:25Mike and his family were extremely welcoming, just like
- 1:28all the other Midwest guys. We did it in his garage next to
- 1:32the car. You'll see when you watch this.
- 1:34The setting is just perfect. Everything is perfect.
- 1:37He had friends coming by. All the team gleam was was in
- 1:40and out. We had our friend Eric Ryan who
- 1:43lives here now. He was over there because he
- 1:46used to live in Illinois. It was, I just can't say good
- 1:49enough good things about this. You guys are really going to
- 1:51enjoy this one and yeah, let's just say Carl gets a little
- 1:55emotional within the 1st 15 minutes so enjoy.
- 2:01This podcast is sponsored by East Coast Drift School.
- 2:04East Coast Drift School is a driving school focused on
- 2:07learning the art of drifting, conveniently located at the
- 2:10greatest drifting facility in the United States, Raceway Park
- 2:13in English Town, New Jersey. Raceway Park currently has three
- 2:16tracks, so you will have a few options to choose from when
- 2:18setting up your lessons. Chris Knapp, who is part of the
- 2:21Raceway Park family, will be your teacher as he guides you
- 2:23through car setup and technique. If you are more of a seasoned
- 2:26driver, E Coaster School is also the place where you can get some
- 2:29extra seat time. Chris allows private track time
- 2:31when no instructing as well so that you can get some test and
- 2:34tune runs in before that big event or competition you have
- 2:37coming up. Instead of spending the night
- 2:39dodging the police with your boys, consider signing up with E
- 2:41Coaster School the next time they release their schedule.
- 2:44Chris releases the schedule on the 16th of every month through
- 2:46Instagram. Make sure to check them out,
- 2:48give them a follow, and shoot over a direct message When you

- 2:57name in our industry for over 15 years, supplying us with tons of
- 3:00fluid power products such as power steering cooler kits, oil
- 3:04catch cans, engine oil coolers, hydraulic handbrake kits, and of
- 3:08course they're dual piston brake booster delete kits which fit a
- 3:12wide variety of vehicles. The core values of Chase Bays is
- 3:15function, simplicity, quality and aesthetic.
- 3:19All of their products are user friendly and easy to install
- 3:22while of course looking the part.
- 3:23The quality of their products has only increased over the
- 3:26years and now with Front Street Drift Club being a sponsored
- 3:29team of Chase Bays, you can guarantee the products are
- 3:32stress tested as well. I'm currently digging their
- 3:34compact intercooler sprayer reservoir kit.
- 3:37This kit includes a pump and pigtail to wire it up to any
- 3:40switch you want. I've been a big fan of sleek
- 3:42looking OEM style intercooler sprayers ever since Subaru had
- 3:45one on the STI and this kit provides you with what you need
- 3:49to get started. If you need any more info on any
- 3:51of their products, make sure to take a look at their product
- 3:54descriptions. They have some of the most
- 3:56detailed descriptions I've read with tons of information.
- 3:59You can check out Chase Bay's products and place your orders
- 4:01directly on our website at factionmotorsports.com.
- 4:04And make sure to use the coupon code Chase Bay's After Hours

- 4:11This podcast is also sponsored by Automotive Specialty Wraps.
- 4:15Automotive Specialty Wraps is a company specializing in paint
- 4:18protection, film vehicle wraps, ceramic coatings, and window
- 4:21tinting located in Fairlawn, New Jersey.
- 4:23Owned and operated by car enthusiasts and Drifters, their
- 4:26technicians have over 10 years of experience in the industry.
- 4:29Ceramic coating is one of their specialties and is the service
- 4:32they offer that caught my eye first.
- 4:34In the 60s, NASA and the US military formulated a ceramic
- 4:37coating to be used on spacecraft and planes.
- 4:41This coating would be able to protect them from harsh
- 4:43conditions. Following that, in the early
- 4:452000s, ceramic coatings were revamped to be used in the
- 4:49automotive industry. These coatings give your car's
- 4:52paint extra protection while also making it shine.
- 4:55Wax only last for a couple of weeks at most, but ceramic
- 4:58coatings last for a year or longer.
- 5:00They perform a full 2 stage Polish to the car beforehand to
- 5:03make sure the vehicle is in perfect condition before
- 5:06applying the coating. This service can also be applied
- 5:08to wheels, which would be the best thing you can do to a new
- 5:11set of wheels you just picked up if you are looking to protect
- 5:13them for years to come. As mentioned, they also offer
- 5:16window tinting and paint protection film installations.
- 5:19Now everyone knows what window tinting is, but these guys offer
- 5:22carbon or ceramic tinting depending on your needs.
- 5:25Paint protection film or PPF is a great idea for those new
- 5:29vehicle owners that want to protect their paint before it
- 5:31gets chipped up driving down the highway.
- 5:33I always suggest having at least the front end done in PPF like
- 5:37the front bumper, fenders and hood.
- 5:39ASW is now offering mobile detailing and this is no basic
- 5:43car wash, it's more of a 2 hour spa session for your car using
- 5:46special soaps designed to extract toxins out of your
- 5:49paint. And the best part is they will
- 5:51come to your house, job or even our shop when your car is being
- 5:54serviced to get the wash done. From protecting your tow rigs
- 5:58exterior to full delivery installations on your drift car,
- 6:01they have you covered. You can contact them at
- 6:03automotive specialtywraps.com and make sure to mention our
- 6:06podcast. They are currently offering 10%
- 6:09off mobile washes and tinting services for our listeners.
- 6:12Limitless Auto Fab is a fabrication shop and retailer
- 6:15located in Illinois. They produce bash bars and catch
- 6:18cans for a bunch of popular models in the drifting
- 6:20community. We started selling their
- 6:22products earlier this year and have heard nothing but great
- 6:25things since. Limitless Bash bars are honestly
- 6:28the industry standard right now. Fabricated from inch and a half
- 6:30mild steel tubes, these bars are designed to take the impact of
- 6:33light collisions in order to avoid or minimize damage to your
- 6:36body or frame. My favorite part about these
- 6:39bash bars is that they are designed in a way that helps
- 6:41hold most aftermarket bumpers up at the correct height, unlike a
- 6:45lot of other aftermarket bars that require you to either Weld
- 6:47additional brackets on or install those big foam rubber
- 6:51pieces to raise the bumpers up to avoid bumper sag.
- 6:54This is a huge pet peeve of mine when installing bash bars at the
- 6:57shop, so I'm really glad about this feature.
- 7:01Gone are the days of trying to keep your rusty rear factory
- 7:03crash bar because you are worried about bumper fitment
- 7:06issues with an aftermarket one. Their bars also come with
- 7:09jacking points and an optional license plate brackets, so
- 7:12everything you need is right there from the start.
- 7:14Limitless Auto also sells catch cans for a handful of specific
- 7:17models. These cans are built in house
- 7:20and chassis specific. We have used these cans before
- 7:22in the shop with no issues and they look great as well.
- 7:26The guys over at Limitless are on social media as well at
- 7:29Limitless under score Auto under score Fab.
- 7:32So please make sure to check out their Instagram and give them a
- 7:34follow. They post photos of all the
- 7:36drift cards using their products from Front Street Drift Club to
- 7:39Animal Style. If you are in the market for a
- 7:42bash bar or catch can, make sure to check out their full product
- 7:45lineup on our website. factionmotorsports.com Podcast

- 8:56Welcome everybody to the Fashion After Hours podcast.
- 8:58This is probably one of the most professional setups we've had
- 9:00during this trip. If you watch the Jet Davis one,
- 9:03you don't know what I'm talking about.
- 9:05I saw the, you saw the. Picture but we're here at a very
- 9:08special there's a very special car we had a very special guy we
- 9:11have Chris I mean no I'm. Just kidding.
- 9:14We have we have Mike. You might know him as 224 Racing
- 9:17on Instagram, but also from this beautiful S14 right next to us.
- 9:20But thank you, Mike. Thank you.
- 9:22Thank you guys. You have the track.
- 9:23Big fan. Yeah, he's doing it right now.
- 9:26Yeah. Dude, you said that you were a
- 9:28podcast listener. Yeah, to you guys.
- 9:30That's that's not my mother. That's not to me, because dude,
- 9:34why would you like what Carl's like, Don't you?
- 9:37Don't play yourself. Carl's like, you have such a
- 9:39nice car, why would you listen to us?
- 9:40Yeah. Because I sometimes I forget how
- 9:43many cool things our listeners have.
- 9:44Really. Like seriously.
- 9:45Like, yeah, we don't really. Have that stuff.
- 9:48Yeah, when I, when I hit you up and I was like, oh, you think
- 9:50you would want to do this? I don't know.
- 9:52If I hit you with the normal thing that I usually do, I'm
- 9:54sometimes I hit people up and I'm like, so we have this
- 9:56podcast and they're like, yeah, listen to it.
- 9:58Yeah. But because I don't want to just
- 10:00be like, you know, come on our podcast.
- 10:02And then they don't know what the Hell's going on.
- 10:03But. I don't need you to come on
- 10:05nothing like that's. But seriously, this is kind of
- 10:09nuts because I told you I I didn't really know who aside
- 10:12from the car. And the team.
- 10:14And the team, yeah, really who you were.
- 10:17And we really just sat here for an hour BS ING talking about all
- 10:21the stuff that we all have in common.
- 10:22Like look at all the chopper stuff.
- 10:23I saw it and I was like yo. I have a lot of interests, dude,
- 10:26a lot. And I go down like every rabbit
- 10:28hole you can with each interest. It seems you apply yourself.
- 10:31Yeah. And like, it's like, it's like a
- 10:34drug addict. Like if you're gonna do drugs,
- 10:36they're gonna really do drugs. Yeah.
- 10:38For real. Oh, he's the execution on
- 10:40everything is. Dude, yeah, is.
- 10:41Perfect. Thank you.
- 10:42Oh my goodness. Especially your house.
- 10:44Very, very. Yeah.
- 10:45That's all. Kayla's amazing, yeah.
- 10:47She comes up with the ideas and I just make them happen, like
- 10:49labor stuff. I walked in there before and
- 10:51Princess was going off about everything.
- 10:53Yeah. It was like, this is perfect.
- 10:55I feel like I'm in an Etsy house.
- 10:56Oh. Etsy, Pinterest.
- 11:00Yeah, yeah, yeah. Pinterest, Pinterest.
- 11:02I would say for your guys podcast, it's like the most
- 11:04relatable for the scene. I'm interested in US drifting
- 11:07like grassroots stuff, I guess I don't.
- 11:11Know, I try to try to talk about styled cars a lot.
- 11:13Yeah, I think what's weird is, is that we have so many.
- 11:18I mean, it doesn't even have to be the same interest, but like,
- 11:20it's an interest that I might actually be interested in.
- 11:25And I never knew anything about it until you told me about it
- 11:27just now. Like, that's the bike thing.
- 11:31That's a little bit more, that's a little easier.
- 11:33I feel like. I feel like we would like
- 11:35anything with wheels and a motor.
- 11:36Yeah, but the house thing, yeah, you can walk in there.
- 11:39I'm like, dude, well. You were beautiful.
- 11:41You were saying you want to go to an antique store later and
- 11:43then we walk in there and there's antique that's.
- 11:45Literally, yeah. It was exactly.
- 11:47It's a curated antique store, yeah.
- 11:49They're already, you guys have already done all like you guys
- 11:52are pros at that. You're like, yeah, you got to go
- 11:53check these. Estate sales, you go right,
- 11:55Basically estate sales because those are like older people that
- 11:57have died and stuff like that or have moved on and all their
- 12:01stuff is left in the house for sometimes the house has never
- 12:04been updated and it's all old stuff from 50s, sixties.
- 12:07And then you find stuff from maybe their parents that they've
- 12:09held onto. So it's like you're going right
- 12:11to the stores source, the state sales of source.
- 12:14After that it gets put to like thrift stores and and flea
- 12:17markets it goes and then it gets dispersed elsewhere.
- 12:20So. Pretty much every time you go
- 12:22into antique store you're buying dead people stuff.
- 12:23Yeah, basically, yeah, I've got clothes.
- 12:26I've got. Yeah, I've got.
- 12:27Well, you brought those back from when you you traveled back
- 12:30from wherever you did. Dude, I'm telling you.
- 12:33I'm telling you earlier, Mike was standing right there and the
- 12:37sun was hitting in Mike's garage.
- 12:39There's a door. The sun was hitting this like
- 12:41this area. And I was like, dude, there's no
- 12:44way you. Were just looking into his eyes.
- 12:45I was. Have you seen him?
- 12:47Yeah. Dude, you look like Captain
- 12:49America for real. Thank you.
- 12:50That's incredible. I think.
- 12:51Thank you. Like did you say, did you say
- 12:54old lady say that to you? Yeah.
- 12:55Like you'd be like a target line or something like that.
- 12:58Dude, they probably love you, dude.
- 13:00I mean, I love them back. That's a What do you think GLEAM
- 13:03stands for? Yeah.
- 13:04Wait, yeah. What is?
- 13:04Yeah, what does? What is the name Gleam like
- 13:07aside from it being like a cool name?
- 13:10So how about this? I'll give you these gifts and
- 13:14then we'll go from there, dude. How about this?
- 13:16I'll give you something. This is your podcast you
- 13:18directed how you. Are OK, I got you some gifts.
- 13:21I know. Look, I tried getting Frank.
- 13:22I wanted to get some stuff for Frankie.
- 13:25I got him a little gift. Too, I'm hard to get gifts for.
- 13:27Yeah, exactly. So I'll give you this.
- 13:29What is this? It's a little key chain.
- 13:32It's a pivot shift knob little. You know, like brand typical.
- 13:37180 style stuff. Yeah, my friend, most.
- 13:39People would think this is a butt plug, but yeah, that's.
- 13:41You could if you want. Yeah, I think that means a big,
- 13:43small one. Yeah, but big.
- 13:45This is this is when you're starting out.
- 13:48No, but yeah. You got to warm up too.
- 13:50Yeah, the. Gauges.
- 13:51They measure them in gauges. That's it.
- 13:53I'm just like, you're still kind of warm because you, there is a
- 13:56bag here. Yeah, you.
- 13:57Said that, you got me. You like the bag?
- 13:59I'm just confused and just like, why did you get this?
- 14:02Why did you get us a gift? Because I appreciate what you
- 14:05guys do a lot like man, thank you.
- 14:07I don't know how else to word it.
- 14:09That means oh so fucking much. Dude I I consume it a lot like
- 14:13I'm at work making money while listening to you guys.
- 14:16I don't know if that like this is my way of paying back I.
- 14:19Guess I guess dude, I mean I'm having.
- 14:21I know we usually never coffee, like, yeah, we usually never
- 14:24think of it like that. But it was funny you say that
- 14:26now 'cause the last night was the first time when I thought
- 14:28about it. I was like, damn, we're kind of
- 14:29doing a lot of shit right now. Yeah, like for for what?
- 14:33Yeah, exactly. I was like, we're kind of doing
- 14:35a lot of shit right now. I mean, it does help my business
- 14:37in a way, because then people are like, oh, I want to support
- 14:39those people because they make these podcasts, you know?
- 14:42So there's that, but like, I don't know, it's.
- 14:45And then seeing Carl like he's like, we got to do another
- 14:47podcast. Yeah, we got a lot so.
- 14:50But I always complain about. It but he loves.
- 14:53Doing it, but then we show up and I'm like yo dude, I cannot.
- 14:59Believe. Sorry who who made this?
- 15:01My friend Cheyenne. Oh, OK, because I'm looking at
- 15:03the thing and your car's on there too.
- 15:04So hip shake, hip shake, hip shake dot US on Instagram.
- 15:08Clutch kick only. Yeah, he's got like correct
- 15:10style ones. I forgot what else he made but
- 15:13just little trinkets. Or a butt plug.
- 15:16Just like what Itai had in his 180, which I think is like one
- 15:19of the most. Like it is the most iconic shift
- 15:21knob for drifting especially. Thank you man, that's cool.
- 15:24No problem dude, I cannot believe.
- 15:25There you go, Carl. Yeah, what is this I?
- 15:27I also asked. This was easy to bro is heavy.
- 15:31Yeah, that's heavy. Bro.
- 15:32Is heavy. There's a bigger one.
- 15:34Open the bigger one first. There's multiple, yeah.
- 15:38Stop I actually am a good person to get gifts work because unlike
- 15:42Frankie man, we have. We have similar interests,
- 15:44that's why and what I do for work.
- 15:47I. Do for work I do auto body.
- 15:50Nah, there's gonna be a gallon of 2O2 black in here.
- 15:55No. Is that Toyota black?
- 15:58What is that the? Bigger 1 bugging out right now.
- 16:00No you did not bro what is this? Is that the bigger one and the
- 16:03smaller one? There's a big one in here, but
- 16:06there's a big smaller box that I see in your.
- 16:09Dude, the bigger one is is. I'm going to cry right now.
- 16:11No, no, no. I feel like I know what it is.
- 16:13He's got me sanding blocks. Sanding blacks, OH.
- 16:17Shit, I used bro. Hold on, did Diego talk to you?
- 16:19I meant I messaged him first. I was originally going to get
- 16:22you those and I said, hey, I know you talked to him and you
- 16:24kind of guide him through stuff. I've I met him, obviously we
- 16:28know each other Instagram, but I met him at one of the special
- 16:31stages. They came up and drove.
- 16:32We were pit next to each other and so, and I know Bryson.
- 16:35I hang out, yo. I hates.
- 16:38Yeah, Bryson. Bryson's When I came, we just
- 16:40met. Saw did you this morning super
- 16:41cool and he listened to he listened to Frankie say, oh, a
- 16:46tractor fell on him. He must be he was listening to
- 16:49it in the car. He messages me at like 4:30 in
- 16:51the morning bro when I see Frankie we're fighting.
- 16:56But but dude no, because he was like because I bought like a
- 17:00AA17 inch block from Harbor freight.
- 17:02OK. And.
- 17:02He said you were using a piece of wood, which I was seen.
- 17:04There's old heads I. Sand a piece of wood and then
- 17:07make it flat and then. But then how flat is that going?
- 17:10But then I didn't get why he said this to me.
- 17:13But I bought the sanding block. We were on the phone because I
- 17:16had a question. And he goes yet maybe just don't
- 17:20buy any more sanding blocks. What I'm like, dude, why?
- 17:24Because people are going to give me more work for final bout like
- 17:27that sounds great. And then he's like just don't
- 17:30buy any more sanding blocks. And then he changed the subject
- 17:33so quick and my brain. Just I appreciate that Diego
- 17:36dude. Thank thank you so much.
- 17:38No problem like this is like. I use those at work.
- 17:40I like basically every day. They're super helpful out.
- 17:43There. Awesome blocks.
- 17:44We were in the car the other day and he was in the back seat
- 17:46talking to someone and he was like explaining how to sand
- 17:48something and he's like, yo, just grab a piece of wood or
- 17:50something. Sometimes I just grab wood and I
- 17:52and I cut it and I file it down and then I use it as a standing.
- 17:55Yeah, no, you definitely need those work.
- 17:58What's so weird is like the bodywork thing and the painting
- 18:00thing. Never would have fucking thought
- 18:04that I'd be doing any of it. And then now that with Diego and
- 18:08shit like that, like it just trickles down like information
- 18:12so easy to spread. Like you could text somebody,
- 18:14call somebody, and then like you get an answer and you don't have
- 18:16to like try or earn it right away.
- 18:18But like the bodywork thing, I didn't know how involved it
- 18:23really was. So that's why like the block
- 18:25thing, you're not just sanding something.
- 18:27So like, you have no idea how much this is.
- 18:30You're using sticky sandpaper? Yeah, yeah.
- 18:32Perfect. So that's what that this is not
- 18:34hook I'm. Oh, it's a the stick one.
- 18:35Yeah, yeah, I have. I also I also have.
- 18:37Those Yeah, you can get it off Amazon.
- 18:39Like the Dura Gold brand? Yeah, dude, you have literally
- 18:42enabled me. Good.
- 18:43Yeah, it's good. I I Yeah.
- 18:45I'm not like buying you more cigarettes than fucking Doctor
- 18:47Pepper or something like that. Yeah, No, I don't.
- 18:49I want to a. Big case, a doctor he would so
- 18:52nuts. Sound like my.
- 18:53Mom, but this is dude, I, I dude, I can't fucking can't
- 18:59believe it, dude. Thank you so much.
- 19:00And there's another box in here and I saw a word on the box and
- 19:04like this. One's going to be a little
- 19:05project, but it shouldn't cost you much.
- 19:07But. I know, but it doesn't matter.
- 19:08Like I'm looking at it and it is it not just a box?
- 19:12Because I hope it's just a box. But it's an Iwata box LPH 400.
- 19:17This is a it's basically like the TDO 6A spray gun.
- 19:19Spray. I knew that was what you were
- 19:21going to do. That's what I was thinking was
- 19:23in there. Dude, I have no good.
- 19:26My gun's not good, he said. It's the.
- 19:28TDO 6A spray. Gun.
- 19:29It's like old. Yeah, seriously.
- 19:30It's just like old Reliable. They work.
- 19:32They still sell them. They've been selling them.
- 19:35I think it it needs to be serviced.
- 19:37I don't remember. This was my spare For my spare,
- 19:41so it's been it. Yeah, it's yours.
- 19:45What the fuck? I think it's I think it's a 1.4
- 19:47tip too. That's dude, you're not
- 19:50spraying. Waterborne, no.
- 19:51OK, I heard Waterborne's really weird, is that true?
- 19:55I don't know. I don't never really sprayed it.
- 19:57I just sprayed solvent. We don't, yeah.
- 20:01Carl. Dude, thank you so much.
- 20:03These are like the nicest gifts Carl's gotten, dude.
- 20:06Is this a fucking I want a gun? I was just talking to who was I
- 20:10because I was in my driveway messing.
- 20:12Outside. Hold on, hold on.
- 20:12My mic's fucking up a little bit.
- 20:13I think it's just you can also pause.
- 20:16Good. Are we good again?
- 20:18Yeah, we're good right now. OK, I'll stop moving it like
- 20:20that. Yeah, but far good.
- 20:22We were just talking about how important kind of the gun is now
- 20:26because it's like, at first I really didn't think the
- 20:29equipment really mattered because I had to learn about it
- 20:31at first. But now I'm like, damn, like,
- 20:33this thing's kind of not that great.
- 20:35Yeah. And like, I noticed that the
- 20:37quality, I guess, of the gun mattered a little bit more.
- 20:40But dude, yo, thank you so much. No problem.
- 20:43Like, I'm glad. I'm gonna send you pictures.
- 20:45He's going to a great home. Even the gun is an antique.
- 20:47Dude, I know what? The the box, yeah.
- 20:50It was just the old box. I had boxes fucking you know
- 20:52what? I'm.
- 20:53Saying damn that is sick even your spray gun is.
- 20:56I'm never calling you Captain America again, dude.
- 20:58Yeah, there's only one. Mic, I don't take any offense to
- 21:01it, dude. That is if you call me like I
- 21:03was going to say white trash, but I wouldn't even take them
- 21:05into the idea. So you you do auto do that, I do
- 21:10body. Work yes, I do auto body at
- 21:11work. I spray my own stuff because I
- 21:15can, if that makes sense I prefer not to.
- 21:18I used to do like paint jobs in here.
- 21:20I did a complete FD for my friend Ariani in here.
- 21:23It just it in my personal space. It's such a mess and this is
- 21:26like my personal space. Like as you can tell, it's like
- 21:29I want it to be mine and make it fun to be in.
- 21:34And when it's like like I had a whole tarp set up and it just no
- 21:38matter how good you are, it's shit just gets.
- 21:40Everywhere dude it's so bad I made I would love to do that too
- 21:44because I do miss having the garage space but right now
- 21:47that's all I got. So what I tried to do or what I
- 21:51am doing is like it's a retractable cool.
- 21:54I have like 4 or 6 pulleys on the ceiling and then it just
- 21:57like APVC frame and just goes up and down.
- 21:59That's really cool. I It's kind of neat, but like
- 22:02that's. Really cool.
- 22:03Like when you say that like being in here and being able to
- 22:07sit and it's not covered in overspray or anything.
- 22:09So that means you had to have so like scrubbed this thing.
- 22:12Oh, it was that. You see how clean the garage
- 22:14door is that It was like, yeah, it cleaned the hell out of that.
- 22:17It was all like blue from when I had my blue.
- 22:19I built my blue S13 in here. I sprayed the engine Bay.
- 22:22I sprayed everything, basically the whole car in here.
- 22:24What happened to that car? I bought it from Cheyenne who
- 22:28made those things. He's a good friend of mine.
- 22:30And then I went through 2 S 14 SRS because of wire and
- 22:33specialties harness and I just got rid of it, sold it back to
- 22:38him. Holy shit.
- 22:39And he did built KAG 3660. It made 515 on the E85.
- 22:44OK, you had. Yeah.
- 22:46So you had two cars for a minute?
- 22:47Basically, yeah, in here, which was a lot like.
- 22:50Yeah, it's always a lot. But I mean, I 180 is like I
- 22:55still want another one. It's like my favorite car and
- 22:57like this thing is styled around 180 style.
- 22:59That's. Probably why I like it.
- 23:00Yeah, 1718 sunroof popped. I mean, just like definitely
- 23:04take all my cues from 180 styling, you know?
- 23:07That's the that's the most stylistic drift S chassis I
- 23:12guess. I think when you look at this
- 23:14one though, what's nice about and when you say it's 180 style
- 23:16now kind of makes a little more sense because it's so sleek.
- 23:20I feel like S Fourteens right now at least, or at least cars
- 23:23in general. This arrow is so thick like it's
- 23:26it's to the ground probably at this height.
- 23:29If you had like a what's a what's a S14 kit that's big like
- 23:32a drift line kit? BN.
- 23:34Yeah, BN. I mean, stylish.
- 23:36There's so many. Something but since it's still
- 23:39kind of sleek. Yeah, people say it looks like
- 23:41almost like sexy style for S14. Yeah, like it's, but it's still
- 23:44again, like it has that form factor that isn't just the
- 23:47chunky I it's a drift car. Yeah, like what?
- 23:50This I'm driving this a EUR type 2.
- 23:52It is, Yeah. Oh.
- 23:53Wow, that's why it fits so well. Like he was mentioning how well
- 23:55it fit before. It's like I've had I bought,
- 23:58I've had this kit. I think I bought this kit like
- 24:00maybe 2014. Oh wow.
- 24:01OK. Yeah, and I've it's been the
- 24:03same kit since I fixed it a bunch, but.
- 24:05The back bumper has a break in it, but yet look at the gap.
- 24:10What is that? Yeah, the whole thing is like,
- 24:11very. It fits very well.
- 24:13But I didn't know you did body work.
- 24:14This is so funny. Yeah, I cut cars apart for a
- 24:17little. Like, I like doing that.
- 24:18Like I got some crazy pictures on my phone and shit I cut
- 24:21apart. It's super evident now.
- 24:23Dude, look at it did. You ever crash the quarter
- 24:25panel? Yes, this side and I showed him,
- 24:27yeah, I fixed the I ended up saving the quarter.
- 24:29I remember when that happened. Was it a final go?
- 24:31Yeah, yeah, I remember. And I was like having a with my
- 24:34mind. I was like, I was like, no, no.
- 24:37Were we there? So we weren't there that.
- 24:38One What year was it? I don't.
- 24:40He didn't know. Maybe.
- 24:41You don't. I don't remember.
- 24:44Before COVID. No, it was during COVID I think.
- 24:49Then we probably there were there.
- 24:50OK, Yeah. Damn, Because I had taken 2021
- 24:54off and I was going to get in the blue car ready.
- 24:57Like I ended up drifting a final bout and this car was in primer.
- 25:00Like I didn't even have it painted.
- 25:01Yeah, I don't remember what year that was.
- 25:03I was trying to get the blue car done so I didn't have time to
- 25:05paint this but the blue car was messing up a lot.
- 25:08I just. Remember when I saw you fixing
- 25:09it? I was like, oh thank God.
- 25:10Yeah, I ended. Up putting.
- 25:12Overs on it no I was I am anti that I want to stay stock metal.
- 25:15Rear this car would be like I would love to see what it would
- 25:18look like when you did the defenders but.
- 25:20I wouldn't. It would never be the same.
- 25:21And if I did, it would be those charge speed ones, which look
- 25:23like a factory. Yeah, but I have the ability.
- 25:25I had a literally a new quarter panel like behind my garage I
- 25:28was going to put on the car. But you were like I could.
- 25:30Fix. I could fix it, yeah.
- 25:32Yeah. That's so I was able to save the
- 25:33quarter. Yeah, that's awesome.
- 25:35And the door, thankfully, like I didn't have to swap any of that
- 25:37stuff. So it's still original to the
- 25:39car and the car has 94,000 miles on it I think right now.
- 25:42It's kind of funny, like when we do these podcasts, we usually
- 25:45we're usually not in a garage, but on the the road ones we are
- 25:49sometimes in a garage. And we, the last one we did with
- 25:51Lee, it turned, it basically turned it into a car video
- 25:55because we were just like, we saw his car and we were just
- 25:57obsessed. So we were talking about it and
- 25:59I'm doing the same thing now. I'm like, what tires are you
- 26:01running in the front like I'm trying to?
- 26:03Figure I'm trying the Celeras up front right now.
- 26:05What size? Those are 230 fives 235 and I
- 26:08have a pair of two fifteens just in case.
- 26:10I didn't like the 235 but I have a huge front spacer on them.
- 26:14OK, so that's an interesting thing about S14 Cokie is like I
- 26:18have a 35mm spacer, 17 by 9 plus 21 Yeah, and it with a 35 and a
- 26:25235 and I'm stock metal. So it's like it fits.
- 26:28I mean like what are the like B knuckle dudes running like 50
- 26:31millimetre spacers? Are like 60 crazy the.
- 26:33Phone book so that the car works really.
- 26:35Well, maybe I just don't know anything else but.
- 26:39Yeah, You saw a video when Tom took those out in Japan.
- 26:41He took them out of his carry on there.
- 26:42Yeah. And they were like fucking this
- 26:44big. It's insane.
- 26:45It's a sleeve of spacers. Yeah, what I just if it had
- 26:50chunky overs and and wide fronts with this like Type 2 is kind of
- 26:56OEM plus in my opinion like this is perfect in every way.
- 27:00Yeah, I mean, knowing how well he is at executing a car, I'm
- 27:03sure the gaps be fine with overs, but.
- 27:06Look at the. Whole yeah, no.
- 27:07One wants to see it. Yeah, quarter, like to me, the
- 27:11quarters is the one thing you can't undo.
- 27:13So it's like the sole of the car.
- 27:14I'm the best person to. I know I heard you talk about
- 27:17that recently and I totally understand it.
- 27:19Yeah, like I did it because I, I had a idea in my head, but I
- 27:24like, I, I regretted it so fast, like so.
- 27:27Fast. I also think over fenders are
- 27:28like the easy way out. I would like to see people do
- 27:31more custom metal work to fit what they.
- 27:33Obviously if you're doing like a 265 on a 18 by 10 1/2, whatever
- 27:37people are doing, you can't really fit that.
- 27:38But 9 1/2 + 12 like you can do like nice custom work in order
- 27:44to fit that. Even right now, my setup, I got
- 27:46the 30 mil overs and I'm like the last time I like five years
- 27:50ago or whatever, when we were setting up the car, Josh was
- 27:52over and he was like, yo, you could fit bigger tires.
- 27:54And we're like, and I'm like, yeah, but I can't with the
- 27:55wheels. Like it won't look the right
- 27:57way. Bro we were at the track and
- 27:59Josh tried to do the same thing to me.
- 28:00Yeah, he's always trying to fit bigger tires and stuff.
- 28:02I'm showing him my new wheels. I just bought like my first like
- 28:06cool wheels. Like I was like, oh, they're
- 28:08Amistats, Josh, check it out. He walks over to the back.
- 28:12You got some room in there? I'm like, what?
- 28:16But dude, like yeah, that you keep saying the word execution
- 28:20and like I just the gaps, dude. Yeah, all the panel gaps.
- 28:24What hood is this? It's a Sabon carbon fiber hood
- 28:28and I don't think they make him anymore, but it's a garage ass.
- 28:32Would have been like the actual company they somehow got the
- 28:35mold off of in Japan, which is like a old shop in Osaka.
- 28:39He was like a pro driver. Saigo Yamamoto garage ass hood
- 28:42is like really hot for 180 yeah that's the one I had on the blue
- 28:46car and so. It looks really cool with these
- 28:48because the events are all different, like the two
- 28:50different style events. Yeah, and they really work well
- 28:53together. So it's like one of those things
- 28:54where you're able to get like, I couldn't find an actual 14S14
- 28:59and I obviously after some research found out that's Sibon
- 29:03somehow still like made it. And it's like super high
- 29:06quality, like they made like. Sibon is better now.
- 29:09Right. Oh my God.
- 29:10It's like so nice. They make like furniture and
- 29:12stuff like that. The quality, Yeah, the quality
- 29:15of this is like so nice. What?
- 29:16Do you mean they make furniture? They make like carbon fiber,
- 29:18like chairs and like anything on carbon fiber like composites and
- 29:23stuff. Mike again, Right, It's Mike.
- 29:24Yeah, yeah. I don't know what's wrong.
- 29:25With that. Cable.
- 29:26I don't know. I'm going to stop shaking it,
- 29:28but no. And Lee also had a sidebone Cape
- 29:31and that. Was so funny, so many similar
- 29:34things going on right now. Simulation podcast on this one,
- 29:37like he had a sidebone hood and he was like, yeah, I know it's
- 29:39it's sidebone. He's like, but the quality is
- 29:41really. Good.
- 29:41It's so nice but The thing is like at what point?
- 29:45Maybe this is me just justifying to make myself feel better, but
- 29:48if it's better quality than the original, like is it?
- 29:51You know what I'm saying? Is it considered a Rep?
- 29:52I don't. Know, but you could go deep on
- 29:53that one and be like why do you have a turbo from fucking 2001
- 29:57or true yeah I mean. Yeah, I know that I can't do
- 29:59these like dudes in Sr. pages that are like G25 and our tech
- 30:03manifold on everything and it's like this so.
- 30:05Boring. It goes in one ear out the.
- 30:07Other. Yeah.
- 30:07Is that really what the what the appeal for you guys is, is the
- 30:11fact that it's like a. Well I can already tell that me
- 30:14and him like old shit. That's that's what I guess what
- 30:17I want to say. I do, but like that those G
- 30:19series turbos are fucking. Yeah, they are.
- 30:22They're quick. They're they're good for.
- 30:24That does nothing for me. Like I'm going strictly like
- 30:28sounds where 100% like the main thing for me yo.
- 30:31Me too, Carl. We we talked about me and Josh
- 30:34where Rev Gasm were driving on the highway and they were in the
- 30:37van like like going to yeah, pizza thing.
- 30:41Yeah, Pequods. Yeah.
- 30:43And Josh just we're cruising. He's in fourth.
- 30:46It's like kind of cruising kind of high.
- 30:48Yeah. And he goes, I'm having, I'm
- 30:51just such a sensory guy, man. And we're having like one of
- 30:54these talks is I I don't, I had an opportunity to just talk to
- 30:57Josh. It's just me and Josh in the
- 30:58car. He's like, I'm just a sensory
- 31:01guy, man. And we just got done the day
- 31:03before of me just babbling about how 70% of the reason why I like
- 31:07being in the car is the sound, the smell, the everything.
- 31:11Just like that word he used. I was like, I guess that's
- 31:15really what it is. But then what he's like.
- 31:16He was like, he's like, I'm just, I'm just cruising in
- 31:18fourth gear, yeah. He's like, because I just want
- 31:20to hear I'm here, man. Cruising in fourth, just driving
- 31:24straight away. He's like I should shift but it
- 31:26sounds. Cool, I just want to hear it.
- 31:28And then like every shift too. Yeah, he would Rev it a little.
- 31:32Bit Rev match. No, no, just just like a double
- 31:36clutch for no reason. And I'm sitting there and I'm
- 31:39like, he really is making this the most iconic looking drive
- 31:44right now because everywhere we go, it's not like excessive,
- 31:47like, you know, when Chris backs a car out.
- 31:49Oh, and he's like. Dude, yeah, Chris loves doing
- 31:52that. Yeah, even when we're out at
- 31:54Carmi's, Chris will go like. Yeah.
- 31:58Yeah, and but his was like a little like boom, like just
- 32:02between shifts. What?
- 32:04There's not even a word for that.
- 32:05Like, what is that about a person?
- 32:06Josh is that person. Like, everything he does is
- 32:09cool. Like, it just emits from him and
- 32:12like, he knows almost in a way. But it's, like, natural.
- 32:15Yeah. Well, like every there's.
- 32:17I would say it's style. It is, yeah, I would say.
- 32:19His style, it's just and he gets it.
- 32:21Like you probably can't leave anything alone.
- 32:23Like plain, you'd have to touch it.
- 32:25Yeah, it has to, yeah. Has your spin on it like you
- 32:29want to make it your own. Probably that's.
- 32:31Another thing too, is it like with me is if it doesn't have a
- 32:33purpose in my life, I don't like want it, you know, I don't like,
- 32:37I don't want to say clutter and stuff like that, but it's like I
- 32:40can get rid of things if it doesn't have like a like a
- 32:44purpose to me. I don't know, streamline
- 32:47efficient maybe? Yeah, like.
- 32:49Maybe it's like my work coming through to my personal life too,
- 32:52like, 'cause it's like how you stay efficient at the job.
- 32:55So you you do body work full time.
- 32:57Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what I do.
- 32:59My shop's like 3 minutes from here.
- 33:00Or like the shop I work for. Hell yeah.
- 33:02And I've been with that company for 13 years.
- 33:04What kind of body work is it? Like truck stuff is a.
- 33:06Car, it's called cars. It's all insurance work.
- 33:08DRP we're ADRP with multiple insurance companies.
- 33:10So direct repair program, yeah, with like GEICO, Allstate.
- 33:14State yeah, we have a buddy Ethan, that does that.
- 33:16Oh, by us. Yeah, he does auto buddy.
- 33:18Yeah, yeah, His shop is like one of the bigger ones in in Bergen
- 33:21County, I guess. Yeah, do DEM insurance.
- 33:23Jobs, I mean, I'm sure, you know, it's honestly, it's like
- 33:26underrated in industry for young people getting into automotive.
- 33:29That's what he's saying. Yeah.
- 33:32I try to sell people. I was trying to sell him, you
- 33:34know. Oh yeah, I want, I want him to
- 33:36get in. You know, it would be
- 33:37interesting if it's something I'm passionate about.
- 33:39And then there's good money. It's great money, dude.
- 33:41Yeah. So it's like people don't know
- 33:43they want to go work at like a dealer.
- 33:45I don't know, like a dealership? Don't.
- 33:46Want to work at a dealership? No.
- 33:47Unless you're a salesman. Yeah.
- 33:49Like that's the only thing. That, but even that you have to
- 33:51like get beat up by customers. Do a lot of cocaine.
- 33:55Yeah, probably. Yeah, there's a lot of that,
- 33:58dude. I'm telling you there is.
- 33:59Dude, watch me. Watch me cut and above this car.
- 34:01Really. Quick, but I remember in the in
- 34:03the top Secret 180 chat you were talking about painting and like
- 34:06you were like I think there was a paint conversation in there.
- 34:08Yeah, we were, you know, it was just like sending pictures of
- 34:10the shit I do. Yeah, yeah, some of the like,
- 34:12weird, like I have a Subaru, like I'm off this whole week,
- 34:15but I have a Subaru. It's like a brand new Subaru,
- 34:17like completely cut apart right now.
- 34:19It's like, why do they let me do this?
- 34:21But like some of these cars should be totalled in my
- 34:24opinion. But if it's worth it, the cars,
- 34:26some cars are just worth so much so.
- 34:29How does it you you have like a salary that's hours.
- 34:32It's Commission. It's all Commission based.
- 34:34I need it. That's interesting.
- 34:35I need it. So yeah.
- 34:36So it like you kind of gives you incentive.
- 34:39Yep, as long as the work is there.
- 34:40Obviously when the work's not there, you kind of get screwed.
- 34:42But where I'm at, it's like two older guys I work with, so
- 34:45they're a little bit slower paced that.
- 34:47Probably make me that probably make me at least enjoy it a
- 34:50little bit, you know, since it was slow.
- 34:53But no, I, I know, and even just from the brief conversations I
- 34:57had with Diego and his like five year plan or whatever, like the
- 35:01insurance job thing is nuts, 'cause these cars are I, I don't
- 35:06know how you guys feel about this, but I thought about this
- 35:09all on the way here 'cause there's a buttload of cars here
- 35:13in this area that congregated, right?
- 35:15And like, we're making more cars and more cars and more cars and
- 35:20more cars and then we're going to just run out of room for cars
- 35:23or we're going to run out of cars.
- 35:25And like, what if they made what if?
- 35:29Because they, because you know, these rules that they're making,
- 35:31bro, they could make any rule. And now what if they were just
- 35:34like, OK, you guys have to just fix the cars that we got right
- 35:38now because that's all you're kidding.
- 35:40Not we cannot make anymore. How sick would that?
- 35:43Be I heard a theory I forgot what it was on, but it was like
- 35:46if aliens were to come down to to us, they would think that
- 35:49cars were like the rulers because we're inside of.
- 35:51Them that was on Rogan OR? Something was it, I don't know,
- 35:53some some stupid theory, I don't know.
- 35:56It's like it would make sense because there's so many of.
- 35:58Them, they were like coming down from space and looking down.
- 36:00They'd be like. There's cars everywhere.
- 36:02Those things are inside of the cars, so yeah.
- 36:05Like the car, there's so many cars.
- 36:07Like I never think about it, but I never.
- 36:08Thought of for. Example when we were in our
- 36:11hotel room before and you look out the window and you're just
- 36:14like, there's thousands of cars going by and it's just one
- 36:17little section of highway and it's like fuck, there's a.
- 36:20Lot of or like that traffic jam on the way into Chicago.
- 36:23Yeah dude, you got it. That was an 8 lane look, we're
- 36:28in the somewhat middle, so I could see the whole thing.
- 36:31Yeah, because a train went by too.
- 36:33Oh my, and I was a. Train in the middle of the
- 36:36highway. This did not be the L.
- 36:37Yeah, yeah. What is it called?
- 36:39It's called the L It's like the local.
- 36:41Like commuting trains. Yeah, whatever.
- 36:43Like multiple lines, whatever. The bridges you take to get to
- 36:45Chicago from east, I guess, and then you get on this big highway
- 36:49with eight lanes and there's. Oh yeah, yeah, that's the L So
- 36:51you're on South side? Yeah, by Sox stadium and stuff.
- 36:54Like that, Four lanes on east side, 2 above the four on each
- 36:58side. And then the train went by and I
- 37:00was like. This is God.
- 37:01I mean, it's fucking stand still.
- 37:02It's gotta be hell at 5 or something.
- 37:05We were there at like. 6-7 ish something like.
- 37:07That people go through that every day.
- 37:09That's why I stay. That's why I live out here.
- 37:11I stay away from there. I have disdain for it down
- 37:13there. Yeah, like, I only go down, like
- 37:16for my friends, Yeah, because they all live in the city.
- 37:18But I can't 1000%. I don't have the patience.
- 37:22Yo, going back to the name. You want to give up crap, Gleam.
- 37:26Yeah. Gleam.
- 37:27Oh, we we say it stands for grandma's love.
- 37:29Everything about me. And that's all I was saying with
- 37:31the old ladies. Grandma.
- 37:35But the name really, I came up with the name because I was like
- 37:38when I was getting more confident body work and stuff
- 37:41like that and wanting to do stuff on the side, I was like,
- 37:42well, I need a name and like being into like the niche drift
- 37:45shit I'm into. It's like the name is important.
- 37:47I was just coming up with like what cool names and stuff like
- 37:51that. So we drove the first two or
- 37:53three final bouts as street dancer with Moonlighter.
- 37:58I remember St. Dancer.
- 37:59Yeah. So it was multiple teams because
- 38:01we had like, it was multiple friend groups, but we didn't
- 38:03have enough because they wanted at least three cars.
- 38:06So we had combined teams and it was just like a mouthful to say
- 38:10St. Dancer with Moonlighter St.
- 38:11And so we combined the teams. And then we use the name Gleam
- 38:15as like. So that's just like 789 people
- 38:19on the team or something like that.
- 38:21There's a lot of cars, dude. It's a mayhem.
- 38:23And is it just gleam now or is it still like?
- 38:24It's just gleam. OK, Yeah, yeah.
- 38:26I mean, we all have, like I have, they have some St.
- 38:29Dancer stickers on their cars. Like it's still owed.
- 38:31Like, yeah, that's to what we came from, yeah.
- 38:35Where are you getting these inspos for the names?
- 38:38Because not the gleam thing like.
- 38:39Magazines like this, like these are my North Star, basically
- 38:42like these and old, old videos and stuff like that.
- 38:45This is the stuff that inspires me still to this day, so.
- 38:47Cool, he said. That was his North Star bro.
- 38:50I knew you're gonna like that. I.
- 38:52Mean I can't. Like.
- 38:55It's it's the only way to put it, like I can look at these
- 38:58non-stop and still get inspiration.
- 38:59There's thousands of pounds, thousands of cars they built in
- 39:03that tiny little country that are still coming out.
- 39:05These archive pages that people are finding like still pictures
- 39:09to this day. It's like blow is my mind of
- 39:11these cars. Yeah, we were talking about your
- 39:13Instagram, how that's how I viewed it.
- 39:14It was like an archive type Instagram and then it kind of
- 39:17just became your. Person yeah, I wasn't posting my
- 39:19car like I had all these pictures.
- 39:21I've been like looking like basically ever since we got a
- 39:24computer at home. There was no US websites and
- 39:27stuff like that. You were ending up on shop
- 39:29gallery pages, like to find cool pictures of cars.
- 39:33So you're ending up on Japanese sites.
- 39:35And I was just saving them and saving them or like dudes that
- 39:37would like photographers in Japan, They would have basically
- 39:40just have like galleries and you'd like click it.
- 39:44And then it's like, oh, he's at Tokyo Water Salon in like 2001.
- 39:47And it's just like all these pictures just yeah, pictures
- 39:49from whatever cyber-shot camera it was.
- 39:52Yeah, thousands of these pictures.
- 39:54There was a old crazy Max website that, you know, use of
- 39:57friends with those guys. And that website is insane of
- 40:02like all these old Osaka teams and I'm sure.
- 40:05You'll see going on like you can.
- 40:06You can, people. I think you can.
- 40:10It's hard to find them. That's why you have to use like
- 40:11Wayback Machine or like some of these dudes on these archive
- 40:15pages now are like literally like emailing people, finding
- 40:17them on Facebook, mailing them stuff to get old pictures.
- 40:21And it literally is doing nothing for them financially.
- 40:23Yeah, I was. No, that's why it's.
- 40:24Like so hard for me to like yeah, I they're doing such a
- 40:27great job that it's like for me it.
- 40:29Yeah, you're kind of like whatever I'm.
- 40:32Kind of well, it's like hard to even like I don't cuz I want
- 40:34like high quality pictures too. I don't want to just be posting
- 40:37any shit I find, which is like a lot, Yeah, so, but I still love
- 40:41that stuff like it's like these and then going on the old shop
- 40:43gallery pages and stuff like that.
- 40:45It's funny, I met What's his Face from Cobraworks the other
- 40:48day. Adam.
- 40:49Yeah, yeah. I met him like last night.
- 40:51Was that two nights ago? I don't know what.
- 40:52Day. I don't know what year it is.
- 40:53Yeah. Like I met him and I first thing
- 40:55I said to him was I don't know how much fucking research you
- 40:59do, but I'm like, dude, your page is insane.
- 41:02Yeah, like dude. And the amount he uploads to
- 41:05yeah like start explaining all the DVDs and VHS are like.
- 41:08I'm assuming he has VHS as well. Yeah, he started explaining it
- 41:11though, and he it made a little bit more sense.
- 41:12He's like, he's like my mom like would go to Japan and all this
- 41:17stuff and she was into cars, so she's the reason why that's
- 41:21amazing. That became like, and that's why
- 41:23he was at Tokyo Auto Salon. Like when he was, like, really
- 41:26young. Yeah, I was like, oh wow, that
- 41:28makes a lot of sense. That circle or I heard of I only
- 41:32knew that his name was Adam because Daryl would talk about
- 41:37under steer King. He's got that little sticker on
- 41:40his now new sore. But as soon as I saw him, I
- 41:45wanted to make sure that I said hi cuz I that page, I don't
- 41:48really follow a lot of the archive type of pages, but his
- 41:52page patina, yeah, research. Dude that one is crazy.
- 41:57And garage soaked up. And Yep, and that or whatever.
- 42:00Is that the one that you shared last night or?
- 42:01Yes, Yeah, I just followed that guy.
- 42:03Crazy. Yeah.
- 42:04But that patina research, I like the.
- 42:06Patina edits because it's a maybe.
- 42:09Some people might not like this actually, but.
- 42:10It's funny. It's almost like a spin on edits
- 42:14that it's another way for us to ingest it.
- 42:17Yeah, it's like a little spin off of like what that edit
- 42:20probably was. Or maybe it is like that.
- 42:22I don't know what size. Matches everything together.
- 42:24It's like so sick. It's like multiple like
- 42:27interests he's using is like hip hop and stuff like that and then
- 42:30editing with the cars and. Stuff and multiple classes of
- 42:32vehicles too. So like there were, there's like
- 42:34days where it's posts a lot of SXE stuff.
- 42:37Yeah. And so like different, I've
- 42:40never heard of some of this stuff and I'm like seeing it for
- 42:43the first time and here's like 8 slides of it.
- 42:45Yeah, like, oh hell yeah. I, I usually view Instagram as
- 42:48like just straight poison, Like I've never even to be on it.
- 42:51But then something like that will pop up.
- 42:53Yeah. And I'm like.
- 42:54They're using it for good. This makes me want to yeah, use
- 42:57this yeah like and actually look at stuff yeah, cuz it's not just
- 43:01fucking. Brain rot, yeah.
- 43:03Dude, the brain rot. Yeah, that's like the tough
- 43:05thing. Like, dude, it's like I try and
- 43:07fight it so hard, but sometimes you find yourself done these
- 43:09like, reels. Yeah, you're like fuck, dude.
- 43:11This bro No tell me I. Hate that about myself.
- 43:14Sometimes I'm like, yeah, I just want to like throw this thing
- 43:16away. Tell me you're not getting some
- 43:18hard laughs though. Some of the brain rot you I some
- 43:22of the brain rot is so brain rot.
- 43:25Funny things on there. That I I have to just be like
- 43:28what? The fuck?
- 43:30And then that's what causes me to close.
- 43:32Yeah. Like I'll get a DM.
- 43:35It's just a picture of a frog like.
- 43:38But then at the same time, you're like, why am I laughing
- 43:40so hard? Yeah, but like, I, I try to make
- 43:44hard rules for myself. I'll be like, all right, I'm not
- 43:45going. I'm gonna go home tonight.
- 43:46I'm not looking at my phone. Good.
- 43:48That's the only fucking way. Yeah.
- 43:49Cuz like, if you don't do that, yeah, you're gonna be like, oh,
- 43:51I gotta check something. Yeah.
- 43:53And then you're like you're. Checking the weather and all of
- 43:54a sudden you're on fucking. You're on Instagram and you're
- 43:56like, what was I doing? Yeah.
- 43:57And it's been 15 minutes. Yeah. 15 minutes.
- 44:00You're lucky I'm in there for 9 hours.
- 44:02Oh. My I'm in AK hole.
- 44:04Dude, I just, it's, I don't know, I I feel like cuz I was
- 44:09trying to hear out Frankie and I guess you as well because it
- 44:12seems like you guys are cut from the same cloth with this, but if
- 44:15you put the phone down sometimes like you when you gave it up for
- 44:18January. I loved it bro like your.
- 44:20Business kind of right now, though, Malcolm was taking care
- 44:24of it. It helps to just kind of what if
- 44:26something happened in that month where you could have had an
- 44:28opportunity, you know what I'm saying there's.
- 44:30Luckily I don't have that situation anymore.
- 44:32Yeah, thankfully, Malcolm. 'S in there.
- 44:34If you if you are relying on your phone for your business,
- 44:37then yeah, you can't do that. Not relying, but it's a, It's a
- 44:39good tool. It's a tool.
- 44:41It's a tool, yeah. It's a tool if you look at it as
- 44:42a tool. If I didn't have Malcolm and
- 44:44Eddie and they wouldn't work, I would never be able to.
- 44:46Do that. Oh, this would not, we would not
- 44:48be doing this. Yeah, No shot.
- 44:49It would just be me and you. Fuck.
- 44:50Well. I mean, I wouldn't be able to
- 44:51give up my phone like that would be crazy to me.
- 44:53Yeah, but I've wanted to forever.
- 44:55Yeah, like I I wanna, I keep. I'm always like I'm just gonna
- 44:58delete my Instagram, but I'm but I'm still gonna be on it because
- 45:00of faction, so might as well just leave it.
- 45:03That's why I never got. Rid of it?
- 45:04Do you guys look at it as a catalyst like first stuff?
- 45:07It just seems like sometimes like a waste of time, like I
- 45:10could be just doing other things.
- 45:13I feel I feel like my time is completely different than it was
- 45:166/7. Years ago, absolutely.
- 45:18Yeah. I feel like.
- 45:19And it's like so like it just hooks you in.
- 45:21Now it's like, I hate the algorithms and all this stuff.
- 45:23It's like, yeah, it's really good.
- 45:24It's so fucked up feeling. They got us, man.
- 45:26Yeah, they really, they get in US.
- 45:28Damn AI stuff. And we're like, we're adult men.
- 45:32Like imagine like kids and stuff like that.
- 45:34That's like that's. No idea.
- 45:35Yeah, that's. Actually really freaking it.
- 45:37It is, yeah. It's terrifying.
- 45:38To think about actually because like imagine dude me as a kid,
- 45:43like if I had that kind of access to ADHD type of dude, Oh
- 45:48my God. And it's.
- 45:49Probably just gonna make it worse.
- 45:51But I have seen this though, I feel like since they're so
- 45:55exposed to so many things there, there there's some weird
- 45:57differences between some of the ages of the generations, I guess
- 46:01that came out after us and feel like they were exposed to so
- 46:06much that they get more jaded to stuff.
- 46:09Some of them, they're just like, honestly, in my opinion, that
- 46:14would be like the modern day you like you're just over all of
- 46:17this shit that you've seen already.
- 46:19So now you're just like, all right, like.
- 46:21Yeah, I get what you're saying. That's you as a modern day
- 46:23child. Yeah.
- 46:25Like it would be there's there's two ways I or not multiple ways,
- 46:28but that's one of the ways I feel like kids turn out.
- 46:31Yeah, it's just I don't overexposure.
- 46:33I guess what Gen. Z is going to end up being like,
- 46:37I don't know. I mean, we already can see it
- 46:38because like kids will come into the shop and they won't look you
- 46:41in the eye and they'll. Really.
- 46:42Oh, yeah, there's, they're all fucked up for sure.
- 46:45Malcolm. Malcolm knows too.
- 46:46Yeah, because. He's one of them.
- 46:48He's not looking. He's one of them because he's
- 46:50one of them. He knows no.
- 46:51Well, that's because Malcolm has other problems, no?
- 46:55Malcolm, Malcolm, be like I didn't you didn't look at anyone
- 46:58in the eye, like just looking at the ground and like other people
- 47:01will like, I don't know, I guess I'll talk about it later.
- 47:04But like, it might hit too close to home for some of them.
- 47:07But you do some of that shit too now.
- 47:09You, you. Frankie will.
- 47:10Sometimes instead of going up to the door and knocking or or just
- 47:12walking up, he'll tell me here. Oh yeah, yeah, that's so
- 47:16convenient. Yeah, I yeah, I do find myself
- 47:19doing things like that too. That that that's like my number
- 47:23one if I didn't answer right away and and we're obviously
- 47:27we're comfortable enough, bro, just I could be in the backyard
- 47:31doing something that's all which I was doing.
- 47:33I was in the backyard because I don't even want to deal with
- 47:35anyone ever. I'm like, I'm like, I'm here,
- 47:37let's go. Yeah, But then Carl wants to
- 47:41just have a party the whole time, so not.
- 47:42A party, but not this right here.
- 47:45This is ideal. This is ideal.
- 47:47You put a couple, you may fill this thing up.
- 47:49Yeah, with some of them buds, bro.
- 47:50Oh, I'm sick. Yeah.
- 47:53Ho, dude, man, what a good day so far, huh?
- 47:57Yeah. Today's gonna be a good day.
- 47:59How long you Chick-fil-A? How long have you been doing
- 48:01this, Mike? Doing what?
- 48:02Well, I guess let's start with drift cars first.
- 48:04Drift I. Bought my I mean I've been into
- 48:07it really probably 20 years easily right now.
- 48:09Holy, yeah, I bought my first one in 08 S 13 crappy car.
- 48:14I had like 3 grand saved up and back then you could have bought
- 48:18like a grandma like a super nice grandma car back then.
- 48:21And I bought like $800 piece of shit because I was like I'm
- 48:24going to buy PBM coils, I'm going to buy all this stuff.
- 48:27And yet none of that happened because I ended up like it was
- 48:30just such a crappy car. I didn't even know how to drive
- 48:31stick. My older brother had to drive at
- 48:33home for me and he barely not drive.
- 48:35How old are you? I'm 33. 33 oh, so you're my age
- 48:38OK and. Bro, 20 years ago, the math is
- 48:40math. Yeah.
- 48:41The math is like math is that's that's a little young, I think
- 48:44so. You bought, you were into this
- 48:45shit when you got when you got your license.
- 48:48Oh absolutely. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:49Once I got my, because I was like skateboarding, doing BMX
- 48:51and stuff like that, like dirt jumps and stuff.
- 48:53We had a local skate park. And not to mention you had risky
- 48:57devil and. RIP Yeah, that helped.
- 48:59That helped. Like during the blog blog era,
- 49:01you. Were kind of coming up at the
- 49:02same time almost. Yeah, I already had.
- 49:05I was on my second S13 then. Yeah, that's crazy.
- 49:08Like that picture I just posted on my story.
- 49:09That car was in 2010. Yeah, and that was Origin
- 49:12stream. I had an arrow hood like it was
- 49:14for the time I I was just buying cool stuff and trying to build
- 49:18cool cars. Like, those guys are nearing 40
- 49:21right now, and you're my age. Yeah.
- 49:23So it's kind of interesting that.
- 49:25So they almost got into drifting a little later.
- 49:28Some of them, yeah. 'Cause like Josh and Chop and
- 49:31everyone, they're in the Hondas and stuff.
- 49:32Yeah, that makes sense. During that time, yeah.
- 49:35And. Then they got into drifting
- 49:36after, but you were kind of like straight into drifting.
- 49:39Yeah, that's interesting. It it would, I don't know how
- 49:41like my family is into sports, like college sports and shit
- 49:44like that. And I'm not.
- 49:45I'm like the black sheep. Like I just liked cars and
- 49:48things on wheels, bikes. You, you don't know what it came
- 49:50from. I.
- 49:51I I have to like, talk to my mom 'cause I really have no clue.
- 49:55These deep seated I know like where did this come from?
- 49:58Like am I like in trauma like hiding trauma or something
- 50:01through drift cars? I I really don't know and
- 50:04especially dumb this like niche of a rabbit hole of the stuff
- 50:07I'm into I would say. Well, that could have just been
- 50:10your personality. Like, true, you seem like you're
- 50:12a perfectionist too, so maybe you like saw a certain thing and
- 50:15you're like, oh, that needs to look this way.
- 50:16Yeah, I always and like historic, like I like historical
- 50:20things and like to me these cars, this is the spawn of it
- 50:24all. So this is like everything is
- 50:27derives from these cars. Do you ever think because I'm
- 50:30the same way as you, do you ever think like that's almost like, I
- 50:33don't know, I'm not going to say holding you back, but isn't it
- 50:35kind of like because we look at these cars and we're like, we
- 50:38just want to make the cars like that?
- 50:39Yes, So there's kind of no evolution.
- 50:42It's like true. We're kind of just.
- 50:44That's where I'm at now. Yeah.
- 50:45Yeah. Especially driving evolution
- 50:47because I want to, I don't want to be stagnant.
- 50:50I want to get better at driving. And that's tough with this car
- 50:53because it's like I built into a spectacle and I want to like
- 50:55keep it nice and be like like a rolling.
- 50:59I don't even know what to say. Just like all the tradition.
- 51:02Yeah. And obviously it's completely
- 51:05set up to drift, but it's like tough, like when you want to
- 51:07advance. I don't want to damage it.
- 51:10I want to. So now I'm at the point where
- 51:12like I'm going through the season, but do I want to build
- 51:15another car that's more just track oriented or like driving
- 51:19oriented dude? Lee said something about this
- 51:21when we were finished with his podcast.
- 51:23He goes, nostalgia holds you back, man.
- 51:27It does. And I was like, damn.
- 51:29OK, well, yeah, I like like this and that.
- 51:32And he's like, yeah, but. I think you're you.
- 51:35Carl is a mix of both because he likes all the cars like this,
- 51:38but then he he, he wants to compete, he wants to be good at
- 51:41driving. He loves the driving aspect.
- 51:43So you could see him like fighting things in his head.
- 51:45Like but I'm scared because like.
- 51:47That's where I'm. Scared with that because now I'm
- 51:50I'm about to go home and fucking yeah.
- 51:53So like make money and do whatever.
- 51:55You want, but I also want to because now that I'm doing this,
- 51:57I kind of want to see how crazy I can do something really quick.
- 52:01So and I have AI have a chalkboard at home waiting.
- 52:05So what I'm afraid of is that I'm going to change that
- 52:09mentality and I'm going to not want to just that's what RIP
- 52:13around in it because I say this all the time.
- 52:15But when I get behind the wheel of the car and we're drifting
- 52:17like I am just there and drift, just drifting.
- 52:21My brain is not doing anything, it's just drifting.
- 52:26Like not worrying about the. Cars, it's not worrying about
- 52:27anything else like if if we're drifting and something's broken
- 52:30and and we're mid drift, the chances of me.
- 52:32I think that's kind of a normal drifting mentality.
- 52:36Sorry, what's his face? He's just pulled up.
- 52:38Yeah. That thing is sick too.
- 52:39All the gleam cars are sick. Oh my word, sorry.
- 52:44Another S14 pulled up. Yo Mel, you see that one?
- 52:46That one? Was it a zenke?
- 52:47Yeah, it's a Zenke. Yeah, yeah, he likes Zenkeys
- 52:49right there. What we're talking about, what
- 52:51we're. Talking about I don't know if
- 52:52Black S14 showed up and we all forgot what we were talking
- 52:54about. Drifting, like, I think that's
- 52:56all. I think that's a mentality we
- 52:58all have. Like while you're in drift and
- 52:59you're drifting, you're not really like if, if something's
- 53:03breaking and you're not going to be like, oh, I need to stop.
- 53:05Yeah, yeah, you're going to be like, I got to get through this
- 53:07and this is part of it. But then afterwards you might
- 53:10have a like reflection moment where you're like, fuck yeah,
- 53:14maybe I shouldn't have been going that hard or this or you
- 53:17know. But then doesn't that go back to
- 53:18like your, well, not your, but this is like the if you're
- 53:23driving good, then you don't shouldn't really have any
- 53:27worries or any issues, right? Like you're not.
- 53:29Going to Well, yes and no. I mean, shit's going to happen
- 53:31either way. Yeah.
- 53:31But now I feel like the driving has escalated to a such a degree
- 53:35that the opportunity is definitely there for you to beef
- 53:40it pretty hard. Yeah, so I mean, I wanted to say
- 53:43this too. Like my car was really low at
- 53:45one point. Yeah, your car is I've.
- 53:48Raised the. I've raised the front up some
- 53:49and especially with the. I mean are you talking about
- 53:52like wheel to Fender clearance? Or everything body kit,
- 53:54everything I was. Creased up some and with the 235
- 53:56also helps a lot. Yeah.
- 53:57Like when I look at this, I'm like, this is kind of where my
- 54:00car ended up before I took it apart.
- 54:02I started, like, slowly raising it up.
- 54:04Yeah. And I was like, well, it still
- 54:05looks good. It still looks like a low car,
- 54:07especially when all the people around you are lifting them up
- 54:09and putting their fists through the Fender.
- 54:10Yeah. But you St. track your car is
- 54:13good. You just like to drive your car
- 54:14around, right? That's like the big thing for me
- 54:16too. So, but like my thing now is if
- 54:18I can put my foot feet, was it fit fit my foot?
- 54:23If I can fit my foot under your bumper, usually with the Doc
- 54:26Martin on, that's mine. That's how I judge it.
- 54:28OK, but not a not a van. Oh my word, then it's good.
- 54:30It's kind of like Castor in it right now also.
- 54:32Yeah, I'm like, I'm usually like, OK, that's good, 'cause
- 54:34then I could drive it on the street and it, I probably won't
- 54:36even hear it hit anything, you know, lower than that and it's
- 54:38like, you got to fucking dodge everything.
- 54:41Yeah, it's getting a little difficult.
- 54:42Yeah, I just especially with this kit, The kit, it's the size
- 54:46of it. The front bumper is so much
- 54:47bigger than the sides and rear. So like I was not happy with how
- 54:50the car looked. The side profile.
- 54:52Oh yeah, it was always like down, like weighted.
- 54:54Down a big problem with that. Too, so I wanted the car to look
- 54:56level, so the only way to do that was to to raise the front
- 54:59some. And the body kits always have a
- 55:00problem with that because some of them are, when you call it
- 55:03raked and some of them are not raked like the end sports is not
- 55:05raked at all. Yeah.
- 55:06So and then you do a 1718 and the front is the wheel gap is
- 55:09crazy and the back is tucking almost and you're like.
- 55:12Well, that's that's an ideal for me.
- 55:15Yeah, you like that, right? Yeah, he.
- 55:17Likes he likes like. Not not It doesn't necessarily.
- 55:20That's not the goal. It shouldn't be squatting.
- 55:21It'd be great if it was level, but if the back is just tucking
- 55:25a little bit, the. Back should always be the the IT
- 55:27should always be closer. Obviously than the front, but
- 55:29then if the front, if the car is still level and there's like
- 55:34this is right here is pretty much like, yeah, this is
- 55:36perfect. Yeah, this is what I'm talking
- 55:37about. Right, Yeah, this is you don't.
- 55:39I've raised and lowered so many times trying to like get the get
- 55:44it level and sitting correctly. Dude, it's this is basically.
- 55:47What? My car.
- 55:47Looks like it shows though. Like I bet it's level as hell.
- 55:50You know what happens when you put something a level on my car?
- 55:53It's just. But what I was going to say with
- 55:55that is now you can drive a little bit harder and not worry
- 55:59about things and it still looks good to you.
- 56:01It's kind of like you're involving at your own pace, you
- 56:03know, like the car still looks like these cars, but it's slowly
- 56:07it'll come up and get a little bit easier to drive and you'll
- 56:09figure out ways to make it look good, so.
- 56:12Yeah, because it doesn't look good to.
- 56:13You I'm to the. Point where and and it's like I
- 56:18do have the ability to fix anything I need to, so that's
- 56:21kind of one of them. But yeah, I just want to get
- 56:24like just keep driving and get better at driving now 'cause I
- 56:27just like don't want to just be stagnant driving.
- 56:29And of course, my best friends are my drifting best friends are
- 56:32Front St. So and they're like so
- 56:34motivating to me even because of that aspect, like the
- 56:37determination and the drive they have.
- 56:39They're motoring right now too, which is wild.
- 56:42So now everyone's getting like this crazy influx of Front
- 56:46Street stuff, and that is kind of wild that it kind of inspires
- 56:51us all that yo, Frankie's doing stuff on his car.
- 56:53Yeah, well, you always got Josh, like, yo, you got to put 265.
- 56:57I'm like Josh, I'm not doing none of that shit.
- 56:58Yeah. What tires in the back?
- 57:00235 Iron Man right now. So eventually once I burn
- 57:03through all my iron Man's, I'm going to do 651 square.
- 57:07I want to try like a square tire all around.
- 57:09I ran them in the rear before and they felt pretty good, like
- 57:11once they got some heat into them.
- 57:13Yeah, this is a. This is a good.
- 57:14Set the accelerate. The accelerate 651 yes, sorry,
- 57:17sorry, I had to like not the sport just like the whatever
- 57:19tread wire it is. I want to try just a square
- 57:21tire. It's I don't like those.
- 57:24No, no, why not? Like what about?
- 57:26I didn't like them at first, but once I got heat in them at A at
- 57:29an event, that's when I was like, oh, these are actually
- 57:31really good. So when I ran them, I like them
- 57:34in the front and I think that you should run them in the
- 57:36front. They're cheap.
- 57:37They're cheaper and they're good and they're what I think that
- 57:40you're going to like about them is because it's it's like not
- 57:46the stickiest of tires, but when it's in drift, I think it's
- 57:50fighting it a lot less that that follow tire.
- 57:53So then it's it's really feels great smooth in the corner.
- 57:57Yeah, in the rear when I had in the rear, the tires got so
- 58:02greasy like right off the RIP. So then I'm like, OK, it's
- 58:06probably just that top coat. So let me heat cycle them and
- 58:08get it off and get another set on there and then even after I
- 58:12put it back on the grip, although the wait, let me
- 58:16rephrase that. The first two laps were sick.
- 58:19The stickiest thing ever, like not to the point where it's
- 58:21hurting the car, but feels really good.
- 58:24But then after that it never was the same.
- 58:25Like it went away right away and they bubble if you hit it like
- 58:32hard and that's something to be where you that's St. driving.
- 58:34Yeah, I had a bubble in the front.
- 58:38It wasn't that big. What?
- 58:39Are the roads like? Kind of just kind of just kept
- 58:41it. What are the roads like?
- 58:42We don't have roads. No, I'm just kidding.
- 58:44No, I was, I was talking to Lewis about this.
- 58:46I was comparing it to like kind of here.
- 58:48It's a different pavement. I don't know what the hell the
- 58:50roads are made out of. Here it's so bright.
- 58:52It's been annoying. When you look at that road, it's
- 58:54white. Ours is black but like it's just
- 58:58as bad honestly near Chicago area.
- 59:00Like the roads are fucking pretty fucking bad here.
- 59:02OK, so I would say it's the same thing.
- 59:03Yeah, but yeah, that's why I stayed this suburbs.
- 59:06Up here over here is nice. Yeah, exactly.
- 59:08Unless there's construction some or something going on, it's
- 59:10pretty smooth everywhere. Yeah, I don't know what they
- 59:12make it's it's got to be asphalt, right?
- 59:14But I don't. Know I don't know, but just
- 59:16something to be weary of though, with the 651 the bubble like and
- 59:20I I do St. drive my car and I don't like to say I hit potholes
- 59:23very often. That's why I was really curious
- 59:26and you know, I'd be, those were new, you said just just to get
- 59:30rid of that variable since everyone's like, they were
- 59:32probably you, they were new. So yeah, I, I do think that you
- 59:37might like the square setup though, because I've been
- 59:40noticing that even with the front being really grippy, that
- 59:45I'm airing it up anyway. And so now it's just a spinning
- 59:50bomb. I think was it you that was
- 59:52talking about running, maybe you and Josh were talking about
- 59:54running a higher pressure up front.
- 59:56Yeah, yeah. So I'm like, yeah, I'm at like
- 59:5840PSI and he's now, I haven't drifted this car at all, but
- 1:00:01I'll be interested to see dude. Yeah, see how that feels.
- 1:00:04I'm curious because I wouldn't like normally lower the front
- 1:00:06tire pressure. I was running the Advent level
- 1:00:08before, which was I had, yeah, it was a good tire.
- 1:00:10It was a really good tire, but I just, they were kind of like 300
- 1:00:14plus for a pair or something like that.
- 1:00:15So I was like I was in a cheap mode.
- 1:00:17I didn't. So I just instead ordered 2
- 1:00:19pairs of. Like Saleros no, they're they're
- 1:00:21they're good. I the whole, the whole science
- 1:00:24behind the PSI thing really is just like that that chase tire
- 1:00:29that I mentioned or like that front tire.
- 1:00:31It's like fighting it a lot less and I think that you're going to
- 1:00:34like. It I think. 40 is a good number,
- 1:00:36don't you know? The higher you go the crazier
- 1:00:40it's going to feel in my opinion the way it snaps back because
- 1:00:43the tire is now becoming a rectangle like the the sidewall
- 1:00:47is at Max it's not going to hopefully bend.
- 1:00:50I got a lot to learn about tires when I start drifting.
- 1:00:52Dude, you're going to. You're in for it.
- 1:00:53That's like a whole new. World, you have no idea.
- 1:00:55Is that old stock care of 20 still?
- 1:00:57Dude, it was just at 2:15 in the front, 22535 in the rear and you
- 1:01:01get whatever works and then you go drift.
- 1:01:03Now it's like, oh, the grip levels are not so I'm like, OK.
- 1:01:06Well, no, that's. Advancing.
- 1:01:07I guess I'm trying different things.
- 1:01:08I mean, I never had grip. I know that.
- 1:01:11Like when I was drifting, I always remember I never had
- 1:01:13grip. I was always trying to keep up
- 1:01:15and I couldn't and I would take all the the air out of the tire
- 1:01:17like and it just couldn't do it. And that was kind of like right
- 1:01:20before all the crazy tires things start happening, like
- 1:01:23people making tires for drifting like it was just starting to
- 1:01:26happen when when I stopped so. Isn't that wild, like making
- 1:01:30tires for drifting? So like in video games when they
- 1:01:32would say like tire selection and then there's like drift,
- 1:01:36that's actually a tire selection.
- 1:01:38Yeah, now it's real. But now they're actually grippy
- 1:01:41as hell because these everyone's on this grip obsession right now
- 1:01:45and like now I almost don't want to like it takes it.
- 1:01:49It doesn't fully take it away, but like when it's everyone's
- 1:01:52gripped up, it's not like you're just jamming anymore like
- 1:01:54you're. You're.
- 1:01:55Just. Add air pressure, you know,
- 1:01:57that's really all all that matters.
- 1:01:59But the tires seem to be way better quality.
- 1:02:02Like they they wear better. They're they're meant to wear.
- 1:02:05Better. Yeah, I think so that that's
- 1:02:07kind of cool. And like, if you're going to St.
- 1:02:09Drift and stuff like that too, like you don't want the car
- 1:02:10fully hooked up. Yeah, that's kind of it.
- 1:02:12Yeah, that's basically what he's.
- 1:02:13That's what I'm interested in seeing with this turbo set up
- 1:02:15too. Like how it's going to punch.
- 1:02:17Yeah 'cause I'm like, not like I'm going to have to St. drift.
- 1:02:20So it's like, yeah, 'cause. You know we have going to have
- 1:02:23to St. Drift Well, you know it's going
- 1:02:25to happen, so it'll be interesting to see how it like
- 1:02:28the power comes on. Obviously I can turn the boost
- 1:02:31down with that knob I was showing you and to get whatever
- 1:02:33power I need, but. So you going link would be the
- 1:02:37only thing that would convince me maybe to.
- 1:02:39Do it. It's like, I mean, to me, it's
- 1:02:41like, I want the brain to be like the most modern.
- 1:02:44Thing I think you just don't want to damage this new engine
- 1:02:47that you just yeah. Yeah, that too.
- 1:02:50But it's just like when hearing and comparing, it's just like
- 1:02:53how old is the link or not the link.
- 1:02:55The power of CI mean. So there's no fail safes like.
- 1:02:58There's no, it's not only that, but it's like I was talking to
- 1:03:00the tuner and he said the only way you can tune, tune hot idle
- 1:03:04is at like 80°C. And I don't even think like,
- 1:03:06that's like super hot. Yeah.
- 1:03:08Like, the car's never going to see that.
- 1:03:09Yeah, they usually do have like cold idle problems and.
- 1:03:12So yeah, I don't know. It was just easy for me.
- 1:03:14Like, yeah. Hopefully it doesn't bite you
- 1:03:17like we're talking all this hot stuff like watch, it's not going
- 1:03:20to turn on or something like but.
- 1:03:22What? No, that one old.
- 1:03:23Here's an example of why I like it.
- 1:03:25Dude, Mike just goes well, I showed you that little knob.
- 1:03:28Yeah, yeah. Like Carl would be like.
- 1:03:30This old? Yeah, I'd be over there like I'd
- 1:03:32be over there. We're on grid.
- 1:03:33Like I see somebody else pull up to me.
- 1:03:34I'm over here. Carl would be on the highway and
- 1:03:36see a hellcat in the rearview and be cranking that shit up
- 1:03:38like. I'd be cranking that knob, man.
- 1:03:41It doesn't beat the IS does not beat a Hellcat.
- 1:03:44No, but the 392 things we're near, we're near.
- 1:03:49Yeah dude. And Subaru was just.
- 1:03:51Poo, I think he should put nitrous in it.
- 1:03:53No, no, no, we had a conversation with dude that Lee
- 1:03:57podcast really like these. These are really building off of
- 1:04:00each other Now. I know it's kind of wild, but
- 1:04:04his whole thing. So Lee is one of the only other
- 1:04:07people that I feel like we're good.
- 1:04:08That is on our list. That is more for the modern.
- 1:04:13So that ZN 6 chassis to me is like the modern to Tom's car was
- 1:04:18parked behind Lee's because naturally Tom was working on his
- 1:04:22car. He showed up to the party.
- 1:04:23Is he fixing? I don't.
- 1:04:25I saw you broke this subframe. Bolt there was there was a
- 1:04:27couple problems actually there was a front brake issue so he he
- 1:04:31came to the shop bought brake pads right.
- 1:04:32I actually do want to talk about this.
- 1:04:33And, and, and he said there was some issue with the brake pads.
- 1:04:38And then later on he realized he was like, he's like the brake
- 1:04:40pads I bought from you. They were PMU pads for the
- 1:04:43front. He's like the, he's like they're
- 1:04:46so they're, they're like the heat rating is so crazy that
- 1:04:49they need to be so warm in order to bite.
- 1:04:52So when he's driving around the street, it's like his brakes
- 1:04:54aren't even working that well. So that's like we got, we're
- 1:04:56going to go on a website and like adjust the info and
- 1:04:59everything just to make sure people understand because I'm
- 1:05:01just like importing some of the stuff and it's like I can't even
- 1:05:03read half of it. So it's like I'm trying to
- 1:05:05decipher what? You just think it's a cool part.
- 1:05:06Yeah, I'm like, I want to get PMU stuff because it's really
- 1:05:09hard to get here. Like no one carries it.
- 1:05:12So I was like trying to grab some of the brakes.
- 1:05:14And then we had two of them there and we're like, OK, this
- 1:05:16one's definitely a higher heat rating.
- 1:05:18And Tom's like, well, final bout and be on the track and he took
- 1:05:22that one. And then like, we didn't realize
- 1:05:25how crazy it was, you know? So that was one of the problems.
- 1:05:27And then I don't know what the other one was.
- 1:05:30He said that he was driving around with his handbrake and he
- 1:05:35pulled it or something. He's probably heating something
- 1:05:36up right. No, the rear caliper came apart
- 1:05:39or seized up. The E brake part that actually
- 1:05:41turns. I think it came out and it won't
- 1:05:43go back in or something like at all something like that.
- 1:05:45So he had to get a caliper, but, and one of the main things that
- 1:05:49he did was fucking get rid of his brake booster, which I
- 1:05:51fucking hate. Yeah.
- 1:05:52So he was like, Nah, it might be fine.
- 1:05:54It might be fine. And then like.
- 1:05:56Is that Chase base set up? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:58So I'm. Not a fan.
- 1:05:59Of you, you like the brake? Booster I love the brake
- 1:06:01booster. I'm about to delete mine.
- 1:06:02Of course you are the car. My dad had this like older 911.
- 1:06:08It's the only car I've ever driven that didn't have a
- 1:06:10booster. Like it was hard.
- 1:06:13Yeah. And I only know and I found out
- 1:06:14what that meant because I was on the highway and I went to stop.
- 1:06:17Oh, no. And that shit, all four just and
- 1:06:22I got off and like got re got back on the brake and then kind
- 1:06:25of understood like whoa. Yeah, if you're comfortable with
- 1:06:27it, it'll work fine, obviously. I think for left foot braking
- 1:06:29it's probably going to. Be pit.
- 1:06:32Yeah, just like that much and it will be consistent.
- 1:06:36I feel like it's. Opposite in my head it's like I
- 1:06:38really have to get on that pedal in order for it.
- 1:06:40To yeah, it's like if you drive like a 55 Chevy, like I've had
- 1:06:43to move those around and you're like, Oh my, like you.
- 1:06:46It feels like it's not going to stop.
- 1:06:47So that's what you guys are working on in the shop?
- 1:06:49Like, no, no, I have driven them, we have worked on them.
- 1:06:52And I had to like, move it and I was like, thought I was going to
- 1:06:54put it through a wall. Yeah, 'cause you really got it.
- 1:06:57Yeah, and they they didn't have boosters.
- 1:06:59Like, if you have to do that, that's one thing, but there's
- 1:07:03probably ways around it. So it's like, you might as well
- 1:07:04just use the booster. Yeah.
- 1:07:05And they rarely go bad. Like, they only go bad when you
- 1:07:08have an exhaust resting on them or your timing is so retarded
- 1:07:12that your shit's just getting hot as hell.
- 1:07:13Yeah. That's what I'm it.
- 1:07:15That's what I'm worried about with my booster.
- 1:07:17Yeah, even though it's like decently far, it's all wrapped
- 1:07:18and stuff. But yeah, I'm still scared the
- 1:07:20brakes aren't going to work one day.
- 1:07:22But OK, so before we get off that modernization topic,
- 1:07:25because I'm going to wrap that one up, he's for that modern
- 1:07:28stuff. Tom's car pulled up and I'm
- 1:07:29looking at the FRS or BRZ or something like that and the S13
- 1:07:35and I I'm like, dude, that's literally that but newer.
- 1:07:41And if I blow up the one J where as Lee can go buy a long block.
- 1:07:46He said brand new picked up in the box, 2 grand.
- 1:07:49Oh my gosh. Isn't that?
- 1:07:50Amazing. Isn't that amazing?
- 1:07:52And then if I blow up MY1J, which I have not thought about
- 1:07:55all season, not once until we said this, he was like that.
- 1:08:01That's when he hit me with a nostalgia holds you back line.
- 1:08:04He was like, I'd I'd rather just not have to worry about if I
- 1:08:06blew it up. Yeah, that was his whole thing.
- 1:08:09When we were there, he we were like, why did you change your
- 1:08:11car? Like obviously the Mark 3 Supra
- 1:08:14is kind of weird to even be running and hard to be driving
- 1:08:17that car, but he was driving it for 15 years.
- 1:08:20So we're like, why did you change it?
- 1:08:22And he was like, what's what Carl said, He's like, this
- 1:08:25shit's getting expensive. Like if I have to replace
- 1:08:27anything, it's way more, way more money now.
- 1:08:29And he's also like, and I kind of want to be in a nice car.
- 1:08:32Absolutely. Like a modern car.
- 1:08:33Yeah. So yeah, we, we were getting
- 1:08:36brainwashed when we were there. We.
- 1:08:37My car we see in this car. Oh yeah, and I removed it for
- 1:08:40that damn waste skate. Oh no.
- 1:08:42Yeah, just. Like, yeah, it's like, damn.
- 1:08:45That's kind of a. That's how.
- 1:08:46That's how much I wanted to run this setup.
- 1:08:48I feel like there probably is another way, but it's.
- 1:08:52Cheyenne was telling me to do I could do like electric AC or
- 1:08:54something like that but I don't care or.
- 1:08:56Not, I mean the wastegate, like even looking at like there was,
- 1:08:59we were thinking about running it around the steering column,
- 1:09:02but like removing it and everything is going to be a
- 1:09:03nightmare. And then still going down,
- 1:09:06going. Yeah, basically running the
- 1:09:07runner around the steering column somehow and putting the
- 1:09:10wastegate like right under it, but then it looked like it was
- 1:09:13too close to the ground. It would be Teddy.
- 1:09:15Teddy is running the weight. You know Teddy, he's running
- 1:09:18that wastegate on on a right hand drive car and he said it
- 1:09:22was like hitting. Yeah, so.
- 1:09:24We're in the in the correct location, yeah.
- 1:09:26OK, yeah, my my thing was I knew I wasn't gonna have AC in the
- 1:09:29car, so I was like, I don't care if it goes there, but then.
- 1:09:31It's a perfect spot, Yeah, it's like the only spot.
- 1:09:34It is a perfect spot. It's so much room.
- 1:09:36For it and the engine looks sick out of the car like we because
- 1:09:39it's been out of the car for so long.
- 1:09:40So everyone comes up like what the fuck is going on?
- 1:09:41Here. What is that?
- 1:09:42Damn. Yeah, Pineapple.
- 1:09:44It's huge. It's like what?
- 1:09:45Huge. Grenade And then you got like
- 1:09:47people like Jimmy Oaks and other people who run links and every
- 1:09:50they're like, what kind of ancient fuck the way shit.
- 1:09:52That that big. Yeah, they're like, dude, get
- 1:09:54rid of this shit. I hope this turbo is worth it
- 1:09:56because. Like the TDO 6. 100.
- 1:09:59Percent that AC in this Imagine you're driving, all the windows
- 1:10:02are closed. I know it would be crazy.
- 1:10:04You don't even know who the hell.
- 1:10:05Is never like I never That's The thing is like I have to tell
- 1:10:07people I didn't really use it that much because like I enjoy
- 1:10:10driving with the windows down and stuff like that.
- 1:10:12So it's like. It's nice when you rare that I
- 1:10:15even used it. Yeah, it was more of a flex,
- 1:10:17Yeah. It was more of like, Oh yeah, I
- 1:10:19VC, like I didn't really use it that much and like, I just drove
- 1:10:23it. Were you guys here when it was
- 1:10:25like really hot these last two days?
- 1:10:27Monday and Tuesday was like. Monday and Tuesday we got lucky.
- 1:10:30We weren't. Here I was wearing.
- 1:10:31I drove. This car around then and it's
- 1:10:32like, yeah, it's warm, but it I'm not like miserable.
- 1:10:36I was happy to just be in the car.
- 1:10:38Exactly. So.
- 1:10:39And one, I remember one of the things for me, because I was
- 1:10:41always thinking about, I was like, I could put AC in the car,
- 1:10:42should I do that? But the two things were heat on
- 1:10:46the track. I'm like, it's going to get
- 1:10:47hotter no matter what with the condenser up there.
- 1:10:49And then I also was like, I want to see that Coyo fucking logo on
- 1:10:52there. Yeah.
- 1:10:52OK. OK.
- 1:10:53So that's where I'm going to stop you because I also had the
- 1:10:56same thought. So I pulled the condenser out of
- 1:10:59the Bay when I was going to put the coyo rad in.
- 1:11:02And as soon as I put the coyo rad in, I'm looking at it and
- 1:11:05I'm like, I guess we're going to delete the AC now because I'm
- 1:11:09not putting this on good shit back in here.
- 1:11:11And then I took all the lines off.
- 1:11:12And then now that I think about it, I do drive around with my
- 1:11:15window. I don't really use it.
- 1:11:17Because you're enjoying the car like.
- 1:11:19We'll do now, yeah, like it's sitting there.
- 1:11:23Yeah, hole. And when you have this
- 1:11:24wastegate. Yeah.
- 1:11:26Dude, I can't. It's crazy problem.
- 1:11:28Yeah, like getting giddy as hell over this.
- 1:11:30Way now he drives things wait till he drives.
- 1:11:32It Josh always sends me stuff too.
- 1:11:34He's like, he always sends me like sound clips from like
- 1:11:36Japanese cars. Yeah, people were doing the RX
- 1:11:38series turbo and everything like and he's like, yo look, he just
- 1:11:40sends it to me. Yeah, like trying to give me.
- 1:11:42AI would find a way to, you know, Teddy's.
- 1:11:44I think it's his brother Zach with the S13.
- 1:11:47His RX logo fell off because they're just glued on, whereas
- 1:11:51this the L2 is riveted. When it falls off, I'll glue one
- 1:11:54of those. Absolutely.
- 1:11:56I was going to get an RX, and because it's huge to buy them,
- 1:11:59because I had to have this thing rebuilt, ceramic coated, like
- 1:12:03completely serviced to make it new billet wheel installed.
- 1:12:07And yeah, I could have just bought an RX, yeah.
- 1:12:10But no, I wanted that stupid badge.
- 1:12:11Yeah, the blue one, yeah. That's cool, I was gonna get an
- 1:12:14RX and do the same thing, but then I was gonna have to buy a
- 1:12:17TDO 6, another turbo probably to get that badge.
- 1:12:20Yeah, I never thought about that stuff because I was always AT28
- 1:12:23guy. I never really cared.
- 1:12:24Yeah. And then all of a sudden I was
- 1:12:26like, all right, I got it. I did a 2.2.
- 1:12:28I'm not. There was a moment where we were
- 1:12:30like, oh, let's put T20 back on it.
- 1:12:31And once like, what are you thinking?
- 1:12:33And I was like, I don't care, I just need to build my engine.
- 1:12:36And but I was like, OK, there's no way I can do that.
- 1:12:38So what am I going to do you? Kind of are at an important
- 1:12:41crossroads right now because although you're chatting all
- 1:12:44this dude, because now every single time we talk to somebody,
- 1:12:47dude and I tell them like, yeah, go to Power FC waiting at home
- 1:12:50because right now I'm on a stock ECU.
- 1:12:52I love my stock ECU. I turn it on every other so
- 1:12:55often now and just turns on Yeah, and I know that there's
- 1:13:00gonna be a time not gonna be, but hopefully there's not a time
- 1:13:03where you go to turn it on and it's not supposed to turn on and
- 1:13:05it does. You know what I mean?
- 1:13:07Like there's something wrong where a link would be like woo
- 1:13:10dear buddy. Yeah, that's what you're saying.
- 1:13:14Now, now, now we got Mike well talking about this and you're
- 1:13:17about for. Me, it was a no brainer.
- 1:13:18As much as I love the old school stuff, I was I'm I'm doing link.
- 1:13:21I was not a power FC, was not even in my thoughts.
- 1:13:24I could see myself going to it later, but I'm definitely going
- 1:13:26to run for at least a year. I get it, skinny D did took a
- 1:13:30power FC commander, did you see this?
- 1:13:32Oh I already had an argument dude.
- 1:13:33That was one of the biggest. Ghost just opened up that.
- 1:13:37Was one of the that was one of the biggest.
- 1:13:39He, he speckled dorked me, dude. Like, he he he he duped me.
- 1:13:43Yeah. Because the whole time I knew
- 1:13:46that car. I didn't know Dan yet.
- 1:13:48OK, I knew the car. I knew I had a one Ji knew I had
- 1:13:51red seats and a vertex kit. Like, I like all of those
- 1:13:54things. Yeah.
- 1:13:56And I seen the commander. So I'm like, Oh my gosh, he got
- 1:13:59his one J to have a power seat in his IS.
- 1:14:02So this is a thing that can happen.
- 1:14:04I want to do this. This has to.
- 1:14:05Happen. So that was really what?
- 1:14:07Yeah, because all the faction team has a commander, Commander,
- 1:14:09commander, commander, commander. And I bought the commander from
- 1:14:13Nick. I was so happy.
- 1:14:15I'd be pulling that thing out the box and.
- 1:14:17Then we found out and then I then I contacted Pexy directly
- 1:14:19and they're like, yeah, you should get a link, yeah.
- 1:14:22No way. No, no, no.
- 1:14:23But that's not even it. He's like, that shit's going to
- 1:14:25be a headache. Oh my, 'cause you have.
- 1:14:27To run 2 EC us like in in tandem.
- 1:14:29No, no, not, not in mine, baby. Oh no.
- 1:14:31We hit it with the Chris special.
- 1:14:33Yeah. That's why you have to.
- 1:14:35But then why? Why aren't you running it?
- 1:14:37It was just easier that way, But but that I got the power C and
- 1:14:44then when I finally met Dan, I was like, yo, I'm running a
- 1:14:47power C because I saw you're on one like and he's like, I never
- 1:14:52run that shit. And I'm like, what?
- 1:14:57Like what's that? He's like I it's a link whatever
- 1:15:01you call command screen. Command.
- 1:15:02Oh, it's a Yeah, I. Don't O LED.
- 1:15:04The the whatever the readout is. Oh, it's like a can bus gauge.
- 1:15:08I think a can bus gauge in the commander.
- 1:15:10The commander and I went from like laughing to like he got
- 1:15:15dude, what the heck man? Alright, but that's perfect
- 1:15:19right there if you think about it.
- 1:15:20I said that too on the podcast. I was like, yo link, if you make
- 1:15:22a commander and it's cool, we'll just run that.
- 1:15:25That's exactly what I'm talking about.
- 1:15:26Dan did that. In a way, can he?
- 1:15:28Can he use the buttons? I don't think anything in there
- 1:15:31like it needs to work. Like it needs to work.
- 1:15:33I'm not putting some prop in there.
- 1:15:34I remember when Joshua proceed had the he had the one J in his
- 1:15:37car and he just put the commander in there.
- 1:15:39Really. He didn't didn't turn on my
- 1:15:41commander didn't need that there.
- 1:15:42My commander's literally in the car doesn't turn on.
- 1:15:45Yeah, just the just the thing. So funny.
- 1:15:49Dude, I was, I was so obsessed with running The Power of Sea
- 1:15:51that I'm like, I was like, yo, let's get individual exhaust
- 1:15:54temp gauges for every runner. Oh my gosh.
- 1:15:57I'm still going to do it. Oh, really?
- 1:15:59Yeah, I think it's going to be. Funny why she can have like 10
- 1:16:01gauges. I'm not going to do, I'm not
- 1:16:02going to put them. I'm probably going to put them
- 1:16:04in the glove box, but it'll just make cylinder 123 like insane.
- 1:16:07Just have like all these gauges everywhere.
- 1:16:08You can't even do anything with them on the car seat.
- 1:16:11Yeah, it's just on the brain. I got to make sure this thing's
- 1:16:13running right because it won't. There's no fail safes.
- 1:16:16But you see. Shit like that when you look in.
- 1:16:17Magazines I saw. Yeah.
- 1:16:18No, not the magazines. Yeah, I saw yesterday.
- 1:16:22Yeah, I don't know whose car it is.
- 1:16:24Fuck, but they had so many gauges.
- 1:16:26I was like damn. And I think, and it's funny.
- 1:16:29Because most of modern EC US you don't need any of them.
- 1:16:31I think now what's weird is that as I get older, I looked at the
- 1:16:35gauges and I was like, that's fucking like $3000 worth of
- 1:16:38gauges. What the heck?
- 1:16:40I said it, I said it before. I want my I want my car to run
- 1:16:42like a 1950s, like P51 or something.
- 1:16:45Oh, really? Yeah.
- 1:16:46I want to, I want to have to look at everything and be like,
- 1:16:48you know, I'm the one that's making sure this isn't going to
- 1:16:50blow up. Yeah.
- 1:16:51Yeah, exactly. That's exactly dude, yo, that
- 1:16:53little Amazon switch panel, because there was a, it's on one
- 1:16:56ECU because I told Chris I'm like, that's it, Yeah, if it
- 1:17:00doesn't run with what we're trying to do, put it to this,
- 1:17:03that's it. I wanted to go well.
- 1:17:04You just wanted to drive the car.
- 1:17:05And yeah, now, but now when I get in, I get to go, yeah.
- 1:17:10But maybe in winter you set up the power of sea.
- 1:17:12I just have to plug it in. And get a tune.
- 1:17:15And get the tune. Yeah, OK.
- 1:17:16That's like one of the most important things.
- 1:17:18Yeah, but no, Yeah, I I look at that fighter pilot thing that
- 1:17:22you're talking about and I get it.
- 1:17:23It's stupid. And I know it's not dumb because
- 1:17:27Oh well, it might be dumb because I like it, but I bought
- 1:17:30like a Dymo label maker because on in the planes it says like
- 1:17:34drunk. Yeah, like, you know what I'm
- 1:17:36saying? So I wanted it to to look like
- 1:17:38that. And also like older Porsche's
- 1:17:40had those too, like race cars there.
- 1:17:42I got to figure out a label maker.
- 1:17:43I. Got to figure out a layout for
- 1:17:45the glove box 'cause we, we made, we actually made a AFR
- 1:17:48gauge mount for the glove box, but we never had it produced
- 1:17:51yet. Oh, but it looks awesome and it
- 1:17:54hides it 'cause you know, the AFR gauges are always ugly.
- 1:17:56So. Yeah, that was my problem.
- 1:17:58Yeah, so we made this nice setup, but now it's like fuck,
- 1:18:01I'm running 27 fucking EGR gauges.
- 1:18:03So, yeah, and you always find that when you're looking at old
- 1:18:05gauges on Yahoo Japan and everything, you always see the
- 1:18:08EGR gauge. You're like, yeah, do they
- 1:18:09really use that shit? And it's like.
- 1:18:11That's why it's the only one for sale still.
- 1:18:12Or EGT? Yeah, like exactly like they're
- 1:18:15just they didn't have AFR gauges like they were using the exhaust
- 1:18:18gas temp gauge as. A as a tune as Yeah, as a as a
- 1:18:21statistic. Yeah, as how hot is is the
- 1:18:23cylinder running? I've cause I've tried finding
- 1:18:25like I was trying to find like air specific AFR gauge and.
- 1:18:28I yeah, I didn't know what they're running.
- 1:18:30There's that one. That's is it greedy or is it
- 1:18:33Tomei or some shit? The VLS.
- 1:18:35It's one with like 3 needles on it but I heard it's like doesn't
- 1:18:39work well. Yeah, I didn't know that.
- 1:18:41They do exist, but I don't know how it works.
- 1:18:43Like I don't know if it's even a wide band.
- 1:18:45ASR gauge is on my commander. Mine has a AFR readout on mine.
- 1:18:52That's weird. It says AF Yeah.
- 1:18:54Maybe because yeah, because it's a Jay-Z and the ECU might have.
- 1:18:59I don't do that. Don't look at me for
- 1:19:01confirmation right now. RFC people, I always see them
- 1:19:03just worry about their knock. They're like.
- 1:19:05All my knocks, yeah, they're just.
- 1:19:06Looking at their knock. Because it's cool, you can
- 1:19:08actually see what it's picking. Up.
- 1:19:09It's like the only thing they look at.
- 1:19:11But. I don't want that feeling, bro.
- 1:19:13I don't. I almost want that.
- 1:19:14There there. Is one because.
- 1:19:15If I can just idle, imagine just idling and that shit you just
- 1:19:18see like a. It does it does that it goes and
- 1:19:21you'll be like there was one time like we talked about this
- 1:19:25the other day, I think, but I cracked my oil pan somewhere.
- 1:19:29I caught it, but I guess I caught it late.
- 1:19:31I fixed it, drove home, drove for another week or two and then
- 1:19:33we went out St. drifting and all of a sudden I got rod knock and
- 1:19:37we're like all in this spot and like we stop and I get out.
- 1:19:40I'm like what the fuck is that? And I'm like, oh, fuck.
- 1:19:43And I'm like, yo, what do you think that is?
- 1:19:45And Justin was like, yeah, that's fucking rod knock.
- 1:19:47And and I'm like, Nah, maybe it's not.
- 1:19:48Maybe it's just like my exhaust is hitting something like I'm
- 1:19:51just in denial and and I'm like, no, I'm just going to drive it
- 1:19:54home. I was like 10 minutes from home
- 1:19:56or less. And I I remember getting on the
- 1:19:58highway and you hear it like and.
- 1:20:01That was a really good knock sound.
- 1:20:03Yeah, And I'm like, OK, I get on the highway and I'm getting on
- 1:20:06the Parkway off Route 17 and I looked down at the fucking knock
- 1:20:10reading and it's just bouncing off the thing like with the
- 1:20:12noise. And I'm like, and I just filmed
- 1:20:14it for Snapchat or something. I remember I was like, well,
- 1:20:16let's see what happens. And it blew up on the Parkway
- 1:20:18before I got home. Oh man.
- 1:20:20And that was it. That was.
- 1:20:20Like the motor seized? Yeah.
- 1:20:22Literally it locked up the wheels, everything.
- 1:20:24Holy. Yeah, just like I was like, oh
- 1:20:26fuck pull. Over Oh shit is that?
- 1:20:28The same motor you have now. No.
- 1:20:30So that motor that happened to that motor, and it was funny
- 1:20:34because it was actually right before what I believe was the
- 1:20:38second Christmas video that we did.
- 1:20:40So we were like, we had it all planned already, but now I have
- 1:20:43no fucking car. And they're like, so we had to
- 1:20:46just throw an engine together. We got random Pistons, rods,
- 1:20:50everything. We had new bearings, but we just
- 1:20:54threw this fucking engine together and ran it.
- 1:20:57That engine had low oil pressure, but we ran it for the
- 1:21:01video. It'd last a couple months, but
- 1:21:04the at idle you'd see occasionally see the light
- 1:21:07flicker like a little bit and I'd be like, did I see that?
- 1:21:10Like you think you're seeing things.
- 1:21:11I'm actually nervous as hell because now I'm just literally
- 1:21:14going to be driving like this. Yeah, but then I was like OK,
- 1:21:17it's definitely a problem. So we took it apart.
- 1:21:19I think I sold it as is like low oil pressure, whatever.
- 1:21:22And then the last one was the nicest 1 I ever got, but then I
- 1:21:28ran it too hot. I was drifting with Josh at
- 1:21:30English Town and I was looking at a temp gauge and I was like
- 1:21:32it's way too hot and I kept going and it fucking detonation.
- 1:21:35Damn. Yeah.
- 1:21:36So how far is English town from you?
- 1:21:3840 minutes. Which?
- 1:21:39I'd say. That's so nice.
- 1:21:41Yeah, I'm kind of realizing that to a lot of people that doesn't.
- 1:21:44That's not to mention it's. In my opinion, one of the best,
- 1:21:47if not the best drifting tracks in America.
- 1:21:49Absolutely, and you can go there any day of the week.
- 1:21:52At this rate, pretty much not. Not any day, but yeah, pretty
- 1:21:55much. That's kind of the thing that is
- 1:21:58unappealing to me in US air. It's just it is 3 hours away and
- 1:22:03like the amount of D days they have or like it's like the
- 1:22:05amount of people signing up now because of how popular it is.
- 1:22:08It's just tough. Do you think you guys are going
- 1:22:10to get another track? Like somebody, somebody's got to
- 1:22:13be cooking. Yeah, you would hope so.
- 1:22:15I think so, though it's getting so popular that I think.
- 1:22:18I mean, how long are they going to do final bout there?
- 1:22:21Like it's just so many people. Yeah like it's not big enough.
- 1:22:24So I. Can't even imagine what this
- 1:22:26weekend's going to be like. Crazy.
- 1:22:27We've been hearing crazy numbers.
- 1:22:29We heard at one point we heard 100 drivers, 110 drivers.
- 1:22:31We were like what? Jesus.
- 1:22:34Oh my gosh, Joe Mike just got 10. 1000 it's like the amount of
- 1:22:37spectators and stuff too is going to be wild, yeah.
- 1:22:40Dude, where are we going to sit bro?
- 1:22:42Who's that? Is that Eric?
- 1:22:43Yeah, Eric Ryan. He's in the corner.
- 1:22:44Oh my God, it is Eric Ryan. He shut up.
- 1:22:47He's repping. He's got.
- 1:22:48Factions. He's got the faction team.
- 1:22:49I almost. Put my faction shirt on.
- 1:22:51Dude, we had we had our podcast with Chab and he can't comes
- 1:22:55outside. I don't know why people I don't.
- 1:22:57I still don't know why people think that there's beef, but
- 1:23:01he's wearing a goodish shirt and he goes, Oh my bad, let me go
- 1:23:04change. Yeah, he literally was like oh
- 1:23:06shit, let me change my shirt. My my bad, my bad.
- 1:23:08I was like, you don't have to change your shirt.
- 1:23:09I was hoping he was he was kidding.
- 1:23:11But then he went to his truck and I was like, yo, yeah, like
- 1:23:14you. Don't change your.
- 1:23:15Shirt man I I literally have a good shirt in my in my.
- 1:23:18You wore Yeah. I got one in my suitcase on me.
- 1:23:20I like that shirt like, you know.
- 1:23:22We want to do one with Palmer. We've been trying to for years
- 1:23:24now, but it's just never works out because you get to the track
- 1:23:27and you're like everyone's running around, everyone has a
- 1:23:29job to do, yeah. I definitely was not asking him
- 1:23:31this time. Dude, I'm so excited to see him
- 1:23:33all drive together. I was not.
- 1:23:35Yeah, we, yeah. I didn't ask him either.
- 1:23:36I was like, let's just, I was. So I'm so happy for them, dude.
- 1:23:39Like, you know, you know what, that feeling's probably pretty
- 1:23:43sweet. He.
- 1:23:45Always does this, but I want. To drive with Frankie so bad,
- 1:23:48dude. It's coming.
- 1:23:49It's. Coming like because I like IA
- 1:23:52lot of people think I work at faction for like the I don't
- 1:23:56know what episode number that's going to be.
- 1:23:57It's going to be like 119. Damn, I don't work there.
- 1:24:01I just I like hanging out there and these are my friends and
- 1:24:05this is my team and like I want us to be a team because I would
- 1:24:10watch Frankie before just watching him.
- 1:24:12Oh my, just through a window or something or no, but like I'm
- 1:24:16going to club loose and I see the cars go by and I'm like,
- 1:24:19that's pretty sick. So like, if I get to be a part
- 1:24:22of that now, that'd be sick. Yeah, I just got a mess.
- 1:24:25Couple messing the. Fuck up because having someone,
- 1:24:28I said it's to Malcolm a couple months ago.
- 1:24:30I think I was like, I don't even think I said it's Carl, but I
- 1:24:34was like seeing oh, I said it to Princess.
- 1:24:36We were talking and I said I need to hurry up with my car
- 1:24:41because right now is a pinnacle moment because Carl is very into
- 1:24:48drifting. He's good, he's getting really
- 1:24:50good. And thank you.
- 1:24:51And he, he's very dedicated and I'm having a drift team in this.
- 1:24:56We'll go into another conversation with this because
- 1:24:58have meetings like people like that and all being able to do
- 1:25:01the same thing and rely on them is not easy.
- 1:25:04No. So it's like I need to hurry up
- 1:25:06because now is the time because everyone's like he's into it.
- 1:25:10I know our other friends that are out of it right now will get
- 1:25:12back into it once we're all driving.
- 1:25:14So it's like I'm going to miss this opportunity.
- 1:25:16Bro I I run BN sports for your ass.
- 1:25:19Yeah, so just how we get a BN kid.
- 1:25:21Just so that we can match. Yeah.
- 1:25:23Because I do see, dude, when I see you guys cars, OK, they're
- 1:25:28not all the same. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:30But they vibe with each other and they just look sick.
- 1:25:34I think Gleam was my number one inspiration for not having the
- 1:25:37same colored cars. Awesome.
- 1:25:39Everyone that I saw, you guys were the that was the switch
- 1:25:42that went off. I was like I don't want to have
- 1:25:44the same. Car, yeah, it doesn't have to be
- 1:25:45that way. I don't know why people took
- 1:25:46that like one thing of team drifting and ran with it, Yeah.
- 1:25:49Because it was always like, oh, you got the same car.
- 1:25:51I'm glad we got that out of the way very early because we did
- 1:25:54that in like final about two era and we did it.
- 1:25:56We ran it like 3-4 years and then we were just like, let's
- 1:26:01let's do different colors. But by that point Justin was out
- 1:26:03of drifting and then Scott moved and everyone's falling apart.
- 1:26:06So now the rebirth is going to be everyone has a different
- 1:26:10color, but they're very similar. Cohesive.
- 1:26:12Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 1:26:13Dude, the diversity quota crazy faction's going to come back.
- 1:26:17Yeah, the. Faction's going to come back and
- 1:26:19it's going to be like where that guy looked a little different
- 1:26:23before, like what's going on here?
- 1:26:26Like, but no dude, that that and but going off of what you said,
- 1:26:30you guys have been around for a long time now too.
- 1:26:33Yeah, which is crazy. It's probably nuts to be able to
- 1:26:36think back then. How long many years did you say
- 1:26:40it was, would you say? We've been driving since the
- 1:26:42first final bout. We've.
- 1:26:44Yeah. Have you been to every single
- 1:26:47one? Yeah, this is the only one I'm
- 1:26:48going to miss. Well, that's OK.
- 1:26:49We're going to start the car. We're going to drive it, take
- 1:26:51it. That's pain.
- 1:26:52Take it you. Got to bring it up.
- 1:26:53Come on. You could take it, no.
- 1:26:55You're not taking your car to fond of that.
- 1:26:56Why not shut the fuck? You are.
- 1:26:58You are coming, right? Yeah, okay.
- 1:27:01He's coming, but he might leave the car.
- 1:27:03Yeah. That's okay, I heard the
- 1:27:05reasoning. Yeah, I'm okay.
- 1:27:07I just want the car to like last as long as possible.
- 1:27:10Now this. I took it apart in November of
- 1:27:13last year. This has been the longest I've
- 1:27:15gone without drifting in over 10 years.
- 1:27:17Whoa. Yeah.
- 1:27:18And it's. Yeah.
- 1:27:19How does it feel I'm. So fun to get back into it or
- 1:27:22being without it. Without it, It sucked.
- 1:27:24Yeah, yeah. I found myself being like really
- 1:27:25bitter about stuff and and stuff like that.
- 1:27:29Just resent it was nice to take. Time, I mean, I guess it was
- 1:27:31nice to. I was obviously we had the baby,
- 1:27:33so I was there was a lot of focus on that, but I was like,
- 1:27:36this is my main hobby. Yeah.
- 1:27:37So I was like still spending money and stuff like that.
- 1:27:39But it gets to a point where like with building the car, but
- 1:27:43like, just got annoying having to spend money, you know, you're
- 1:27:47like, oh, I got to buy this now. Yeah.
- 1:27:49So. It's kind of where I'm not that
- 1:27:51and that's not where I'm at right now in the season.
- 1:27:53But like since my car's kind of broken in tiny ways, I'm like,
- 1:27:59OK, I'll just let that sit now because I don't want to spend
- 1:28:03money on it, but I'm not going to.
- 1:28:05It's not going anywhere. So I'm like, I'll just move it
- 1:28:07further down the line of like priority.
- 1:28:11I'd like to do other stuff, the bodywork thing like but.
- 1:28:13No one's worried about you, Carl.
- 1:28:14You're gonna work on your car. You're gonna get it done.
- 1:28:15Yeah, you're just. Like time crazy.
- 1:28:17Yeah, I'm a book time theme dude.
- 1:28:19He's. Just the painting thing is what
- 1:28:20you're focusing. On which I'm having fun.
- 1:28:22Yeah, because now I'm about to do my shit and it's gonna be
- 1:28:24sick. Sick.
- 1:28:25Yeah, I have a demo car. Yes, yeah, that's kind of what I
- 1:28:27want. We gotta get, we gotta get the
- 1:28:29van painted too, so. Bro no, no not to be able yo
- 1:28:33with this actually my fan's gonna be way nice.
- 1:28:35I just. Don't know how you're gonna
- 1:28:36paint the roof? Don't you worry about that dude
- 1:28:40on the just. Carl like being hung by like a
- 1:28:43little thing on the. On the JZX.
- 1:28:45I had Mission Impossible, the roof.
- 1:28:46On the JZXI needed to be like 2 inches taller to get the perfect
- 1:28:52like. You got to get the little stilts
- 1:28:54with the like. Oh, like the drywallers or
- 1:28:56whatever they no. No, no, this, this was.
- 1:28:58You're going to love this. I have two long 2 by sixes.
- 1:29:03And you just walk on it. That's all I needed dude.
- 1:29:05I put him right there on the side of of the car and like it
- 1:29:08just gave me that extra. Yeah.
- 1:29:10You can put him between like 5 gallon buckets or something.
- 1:29:13Holy crap, imagine I just. Take that's what I was thinking
- 1:29:16with the stilts. You're just walking around and
- 1:29:18you just oh shit and fall over the hood.
- 1:29:22Dude, like I, I just, I don't know, it's, it's, it's weird
- 1:29:25because I, we had another painter Eddie on the on our on
- 1:29:29the podcast and like. That's great.
- 1:29:31Even him explaining how the paint builds cuz I think what it
- 1:29:36the illustration he used to me was like paints like this right?
- 1:29:40Oh yeah. And then you like wanna fill
- 1:29:43those with that. And then in my head I'm like, is
- 1:29:46that really how it works? Yeah, it was hard for me to
- 1:29:49grasp that. He's a production he does at a
- 1:29:51Body Shop. Yeah, I would say.
- 1:29:53Yeah. So it's production, Yeah.
- 1:29:54I don't know if they do like a lot of insurance stuff, but
- 1:29:57because they're a little smaller I feel like he's the only
- 1:29:59painter there or one or two. I don't know.
- 1:30:01Yeah. What was it like when you had
- 1:30:02the operation here? Like did you work out of here
- 1:30:05was? It.
- 1:30:05No, no. I've always kept my main job.
- 1:30:07OK yeah. So I was coming home, you know,
- 1:30:09having to do this on the side and stuff like that, which was
- 1:30:12wares on you. That's true.
- 1:30:14And then also. So I had two drift cars in here.
- 1:30:16I had both of our dailies I had, I had a 1978 F 252, so it's a
- 1:30:22big fucking truck. So I was having move everything
- 1:30:25out, you know, my cars were sitting outside while I had the
- 1:30:28cars in here I was working on. It was just a lot.
- 1:30:30Where were you? Prepping in here or, or I would
- 1:30:34do like I would do like bumpers and stuff right out this door
- 1:30:37because I have my little compressor.
- 1:30:39He's like electric DA or something.
- 1:30:40Like that when you prep in your spray space is that affect?
- 1:30:45I use a leaf blower. I sweep and use a leaf blower
- 1:30:48and blow everything out and let it settle.
- 1:30:50Or is smart. Fuck, do you spray the floor or
- 1:30:52whatever they tell? You to do I've wet it down and
- 1:30:54squeegeed it but yeah, people do wet floors I.
- 1:30:56Paper I go with the paper route mainly just cuz I can wet it.
- 1:31:01Nothing's stopping me from wet it, it's just, I don't know, I
- 1:31:04just don't want big damp box because like we have a big
- 1:31:07insect problem. Because humidity in the suburbs,
- 1:31:10we'll mess with the paint. That too.
- 1:31:11I've seen people they people use carpet and carpet.
- 1:31:14And then they vacuum it really quick.
- 1:31:16Yo, you know who you should follow or look into?
- 1:31:17I think we talked about this Kevin fan from Boss Town in.
- 1:31:21Oh yeah. Yeah, that area, he always had a
- 1:31:24crazy set up in his house. It's probably a lot of like tips
- 1:31:27and tricks for that shit. Dude, I'm part of this Facebook
- 1:31:30group that Diego told me to join.
- 1:31:32Yeah, homemade restoration or homemade restoration and
- 1:31:39bodywork or something like that. Awesome.
- 1:31:42And they're the most helpful people in there.
- 1:31:44It's like this guy, you would think that somebody at least in
- 1:31:49our scene would get dragged by this.
- 1:31:51It's like a tent and it was like right next to his house, middle
- 1:31:56of the backyard type of beat. There's no walls on it.
- 1:31:59He's got like this big, those big circle fans that you would
- 1:32:02see to to dry something like the floor or something.
- 1:32:04And it's just pointing out. He's like, hey guys, getting
- 1:32:07ready to do my first job. Do you guys have any tips and
- 1:32:09tricks, comments? I go right to him because
- 1:32:12there's a lot of them go write to him.
- 1:32:14Everyone's supportive, helping him perfect like telling him
- 1:32:17like maybe try this in the meantime.
- 1:32:19I know this can't be like a permanent thing, but this might
- 1:32:22help you like maybe cover the floor, maybe put a drop cloth
- 1:32:25that goes all the way to the floor or some sort of tip.
- 1:32:28These are. All people that actually do.
- 1:32:30Shit. Yeah.
- 1:32:31And like, and giving them confidence, too.
- 1:32:33Like picture of the work. I sprayed this outside.
- 1:32:37You know, sometimes those are the best you're.
- 1:32:41Using wax and grease remover before you spray.
- 1:32:43I use I use spray way and flash it off like I'll wait.
- 1:32:47Tack cloth that's. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:32:50Good. I use.
- 1:32:52I use that spray way period to. Like, that stuff's the best
- 1:32:55walk. Around.
- 1:32:56Is that the end? It's the glass cleaner glass.
- 1:32:58It's like in the blue. Cap ammonia free, it's great.
- 1:33:00Yeah, that's the stuff we use at work also.
- 1:33:02It's perfect. And then I'll, that's like I
- 1:33:05walk around cuz every time at work I still work in the office,
- 1:33:08OK, every time I work, I'll turn it on like some sort of body
- 1:33:11work channel. Dude, they they're really
- 1:33:14spraying that shit with something.
- 1:33:16The wax and grease remover. Like crazy though, I'm like,
- 1:33:18damn, they writing that shit off like the yeah, I can't just be
- 1:33:22doing that. So I like how spray weighs in an
- 1:33:23aerosol. Like I can kind of make it as
- 1:33:26efficient as are you. Getting any fish eyes or any
- 1:33:28problems like that? Not really, I try to prime stuff
- 1:33:33as soon as I see it's like a deviation and like I guess what
- 1:33:36I would think is the is the surface.
- 1:33:39Like when I did the JZXI had that M sports hood, a
- 1:33:41replacement Fender, the bumpers are all fiberglass.
- 1:33:44So I primered all of those and the rest of it I scuffed because
- 1:33:46it was beautiful. I don't know why.
- 1:33:48Yeah, I know. I talked to him.
- 1:33:49The other. Day bro.
- 1:33:50It was a beautiful 6:00 and 9:00.
- 1:33:52So it's Ebony teal Toyota Chaser.
- 1:33:56Like green is like black. It's like, I want to do it in
- 1:33:58black. I'm like, dude, fucking looks.
- 1:34:00It's so nice. We did it in black and it was my
- 1:34:02first black car and there was no fish eyes, but I did run it a
- 1:34:06little wet and then we cut and buffed it and it looked
- 1:34:10phenomenal. I was.
- 1:34:12Just it's good because usually a lot of people lay it dry because
- 1:34:14they can't like get the right visual.
- 1:34:16Like they don't know how to use the light to lay the clear down
- 1:34:18correctly. It took me a while to understand
- 1:34:21it, but like now when I'm looking at it, you can almost
- 1:34:24see it do that and there's like a sweet window there that I in
- 1:34:28my I call it window, but I'm like fuck move like go like
- 1:34:33next, like make sure your overlap is not right there.
- 1:34:36Again, you better like go. I don't know, it's it's just
- 1:34:40fun. I never thought that I would
- 1:34:42like it this much. I, I did, like, I, I find myself
- 1:34:46thinking about how this could have happened and like, I guess
- 1:34:50we were fucking around with spray paint and stuff like that
- 1:34:52and like just painting stuff and like now it just fucking
- 1:34:55escalated. That's how it started for me as
- 1:34:56well. I was like my, you remember my
- 1:34:58red hatch I built? It was like super low on origin
- 1:35:01aggressive. Aggressive.
- 1:35:04It was. I built that car in a park in a
- 1:35:07parking lot I was living in at the time we were at.
- 1:35:09We spray painted that and that's fun in the parking lot.
- 1:35:11It came out pretty good. So many people have stories of
- 1:35:14building cars and. So like my friends I was good
- 1:35:17friends with through high school, their dad was the the GM
- 1:35:20of the shop I now work at and he's like, you guys, you're like
- 1:35:22messing with cars. Do you want to just come work at
- 1:35:24the shop? So I started out cleaning cars,
- 1:35:27cleaning up the shop, work my way up and now?
- 1:35:30What you're doing Like what are the crucial components of fixing
- 1:35:34cars? The shop Like what?
- 1:35:36And it's like the morals aspect of it too.
- 1:35:38Like you want to put a safe car back on the road.
- 1:35:40Yeah. You know I.
- 1:35:41OK, so if if we're talking about like more of the moral aspect of
- 1:35:44it, like when people when I think of somebody bringing me
- 1:35:47something for paint, sometimes it's not just like a little BS
- 1:35:52or bumper for disguise project or her project.
- 1:35:55It's like they made that car and they're going to you now to
- 1:36:02finish it up. Yeah, like it's like a tune.
- 1:36:04It's like the last to make it that final step.
- 1:36:07So that first car I ever did that the green S14, I see like
- 1:36:12where I messed up a little bit of it.
- 1:36:14There's modeling in the the metallics and stuff and there's
- 1:36:17dry spots and that. Could be the gun, it could be a
- 1:36:20drop. Coat, I think it was.
- 1:36:21Yeah. It could have been the yeah, the
- 1:36:22glamour or whatever the drop coat.
- 1:36:25Of the base. Was not good and that when it
- 1:36:30rolled away and he said like I just got it tuned before I
- 1:36:34dropped it off. I told him dude, this drive home
- 1:36:37is probably going to feel so. Cool, that's a cool color.
- 1:36:40You painted that too. Yeah, it was a.
- 1:36:41It was like a little TCP. Color like ATP, some he bought
- 1:36:45offline. Yeah, just something, yeah.
- 1:36:46But the dude that I told him that that feeling was probably
- 1:36:49going to be awesome, he always said thank you.
- 1:36:51You know, like I see other people appreciating it and that
- 1:36:55it's cool. Yeah, it is wild how many people
- 1:36:58are going to Carl like based off of him just talking about.
- 1:37:01I mean, they're like, yo, I want to go to you and have you spray
- 1:37:03my car. Yeah, I.
- 1:37:04Just want to provide to. Find someone also.
- 1:37:06Yeah, I still. Get asked like and I have to
- 1:37:08like turn a lot of people down, especially even friends and
- 1:37:10stuff like that. Yeah, especially once you're
- 1:37:12like, really good, and then you're like, OK, well, now it's
- 1:37:15like this shit's expensive. Like, you know, Carl's still in
- 1:37:18the stage where he he wants to offer it pretty fair price.
- 1:37:21Yeah. Because he doesn't feel like
- 1:37:23he's at a certain level. So he wants to do it at that
- 1:37:26price. And that's perfect for Drifters.
- 1:37:28Absolutely. Dude and tell me if I'm wrong
- 1:37:31but there has been a a decline right of the cars at club loose
- 1:37:36that look really sick. I think so.
- 1:37:38And I think so, yeah. And tell me that it can't be
- 1:37:42possibly because. Painting.
- 1:37:45Painting got way expensive, Yeah, probably.
- 1:37:47So let's say, let's say now coincidentally I get yeah, let's
- 1:37:52say coincidentally, I start going in and then this line
- 1:37:55starts going up too. Yeah.
- 1:37:57I'm not going to correlate the two together, but if something,
- 1:38:00but it'd be. But it'd be really cool if we
- 1:38:01brought that style back to Club Loose, because Club Loose is
- 1:38:04still. That's our home.
- 1:38:05That's the that's the spot, yeah.
- 1:38:08So it'd be really cool if they were like, because not Jake
- 1:38:11asked me to fucking paint his car.
- 1:38:12I'm going to do bobbies. I'm going to do Steve.
- 1:38:14You'll. Probably meet Jake this weekend
- 1:38:15but he's a young young dude from club loose.
- 1:38:17He always does this. I've heard you 2 guys talk about
- 1:38:19him. Sounds pretty rowdy.
- 1:38:21His face all the time. You'll see him.
- 1:38:24Jake's funny man. He's he's a young kid, he's club
- 1:38:27loose and he's like the epitome. Well, like I saw him the other
- 1:38:29night when we were there and I was like, what are you doing
- 1:38:31here? You shouldn't be like this is
- 1:38:32you're the epitome of club loose right now.
- 1:38:34Like, you should not be here because they never come out.
- 1:38:36Like those guys never go anywhere like this.
- 1:38:38Like this is crazy. So.
- 1:38:40But I like that he's here, you know, and he's seeing all this
- 1:38:44because it makes me feel like, like, obviously we're here,
- 1:38:47Front Street's here, but it feels like other people from our
- 1:38:49area are here now. So it's kind of cool.
- 1:38:52Yeah, it's it really has been pretty fun.
- 1:38:55I was one of the blood masters to make it here.
- 1:38:57They almost did one year. They were like.
- 1:38:59They'd be really good, right? They would destroy the driving
- 1:39:01aspect. Yeah, but the cars, I think they
- 1:39:05the cars are looking way better than they ever have before.
- 1:39:07Like, I don't know about right this moment, but the last five
- 1:39:10years, but I don't know what happened.
- 1:39:13Something, something didn't work out.
- 1:39:14But getting those guys to all go somewhere is going to be hard
- 1:39:17anyway. But yeah, one day maybe it would
- 1:39:19be really cool because Simba, all those guys know them like
- 1:39:23they're all friends. They all start drifting the same
- 1:39:24time. Yeah, they're on the old forums
- 1:39:26and stuff like that. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:39:28Yeah, I finally got to meet, like, Petty and stuff.
- 1:39:30Like, how do you really have a conversation?
- 1:39:32Just hang out. Yeah, He's driving all the way
- 1:39:35up here today. Yeah, I know.
- 1:39:36He, he, I think he would consider it depending on who was
- 1:39:39going and if you know, because I, I really do think he would
- 1:39:42consider it. Just like lead a trail of
- 1:39:44cigarettes and beers. Oh my.
- 1:39:46All the way from New Jersey all the way to Shawno.
- 1:39:49Yeah. And he What am I doing here?
- 1:39:53Yeah, one day man, but I I hope these guys come out like I want.
- 1:39:56Dude I want you guys to come out to E town would be crazy.
- 1:39:59Do you need a cage though? Right.
- 1:40:01We talk about this the other day.
- 1:40:02We'll talk about it. We could talk because I talked
- 1:40:05about it with somebody last night and I think that we can do
- 1:40:08that. Yeah, there's ways to.
- 1:40:10I don't what is the do you need door bars specifically or a
- 1:40:13cage? Well, basically, basically you
- 1:40:15guys just probably can't come out for a big spectator event.
- 1:40:18We would have to do something a little different, you know, and
- 1:40:21there's probably some other things we can do because, you
- 1:40:23know. There's, I mean, I've been to
- 1:40:24like, dude, I we've been to I've been to Texas three times
- 1:40:28driving. Yeah, that's awesome down there.
- 1:40:30They. Don't need cages.
- 1:40:31Or no, no, no, but it's just travelling for fun.
- 1:40:33It's just fun to like I was talking about with the stagnant
- 1:40:35stuff here. Yeah, the van.
- 1:40:36Gotta get a van. Pull your friends in.
- 1:40:38Yes, Sir. Whoa.
- 1:40:38He does not need a van. You know what?
- 1:40:40I. Got the GX.
- 1:40:41Yep. But just all you guys coming
- 1:40:44down at the same time would be fun.
- 1:40:45Yeah, yeah. We, we always tried to do it.
- 1:40:47The Front Street guys and us, we always try to convince Simba and
- 1:40:50then they come down. Simba's been there.
- 1:40:53The breaking guys have gone there before.
- 1:40:54I think ECB 2012 or something, so long ago.
- 1:40:57Yeah, but that dude, that was one of my first bigger drift
- 1:41:00events. And seeing Derek there and
- 1:41:03everything, I'm like, you know, these cars are fucking crazy.
- 1:41:06Like that kind of fucked my mentality up because the next
- 1:41:09year, nothing there was cool, you know what I mean?
- 1:41:11Like, but like one year it was like, what the fuck is all this?
- 1:41:14But it was all from the Midwest. I can't.
- 1:41:17I just, I can't. I need, we need to do something
- 1:41:19with that dude. We know too many cool people.
- 1:41:21Yeah, and so many crew cars do it.
- 1:41:25What I want to do is like, I have like my friends now too
- 1:41:29that aren't. I want to have all the teams.
- 1:41:32Yeah, because those teams are friends and those friends are
- 1:41:35going to have a trip of their own too.
- 1:41:37So everyone's having a fun trip and we just go drip.
- 1:41:41Yeah. Like and now we got to do this
- 1:41:42one thing that we. And then we can take you guys
- 1:41:44out to places like this. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
- 1:41:46Like what would we treat you guys?
- 1:41:48Taking to Korean BBQ, that's for sure.
- 1:41:50But they have that here. Juicy platters.
- 1:41:52Yo not even juicy. We got to take it to the real 1
- 1:41:56Halal Guys in New York. City.
- 1:41:58Dude, guys talk about it so much, I feel like I know what it
- 1:42:00is. Dude, yes you do.
- 1:42:02We should have. Brought it.
- 1:42:03We should have brought. Just brought.
- 1:42:04Yo, you guys might have one in Chicago.
- 1:42:06I didn't look it up. Oh really?
- 1:42:07You might. Like Hal guys or Juicy?
- 1:42:09Pies halal guys, you definitely have, but it's not the fucking
- 1:42:11same. Don't even bother.
- 1:42:11It's just a different taste, but same concept, different taste.
- 1:42:14It's not the dudes like cutting the stuff with their feet, is
- 1:42:16it? I mean, they're getting.
- 1:42:18Really good with. Their elbows Fucking Instagram
- 1:42:20reels right now. I mean, we they call it street
- 1:42:22meat, so it's up to you what you want.
- 1:42:24Oh my. Who's who's?
- 1:42:25No, no one's calling it. Street meets New York.
- 1:42:27Street meets, yeah. That's.
- 1:42:29This. Cart Nah street meat truck look.
- 1:42:33At you're going to different. No, I'm telling you.
- 1:42:35You're going to different cards getting weird meat dude, that's
- 1:42:39no but juicy platters that might be juicy platters.
- 1:42:41I would much rather do that. That's a stable.
- 1:42:43We get it every week. Yeah.
- 1:42:44You go there and you tell them, hey, you might have like a bunch
- 1:42:48of cars coming here, this one one night.
- 1:42:50See me, I want to drive. Everyone drives to New York City
- 1:42:53and that's an experience, OK, Like like just you're all
- 1:42:56hanging out there and then you drive back and it's this is what
- 1:42:58we used to do, like when we would go to Queens to drift and
- 1:43:01stuff too. So it sucks.
- 1:43:03The road is terrible like you're going to be, but it makes it
- 1:43:05fun. It's.
- 1:43:06Far and like it ain't far the juicy platters little meet up
- 1:43:10would be sick because it's like 10 seconds down the road from
- 1:43:12faction so like that faction open house like that'd be cool
- 1:43:14little. We should have them cater it.
- 1:43:16Afters, dude, and just show them actually what you do.
- 1:43:20They know Frankie in there. Really.
- 1:43:22They really. I go that.
- 1:43:24Too. We joke about it.
- 1:43:26They really. Know it's like 5 minutes down
- 1:43:28the street from my apartment. So and it's good food, like
- 1:43:30healthy. It's not, yeah, it's not fucking
- 1:43:32McDonald's. So I'm like, OK, this ain't that
- 1:43:34bad, you know? Walks in.
- 1:43:35Hi Frankie. But then they plug his order in
- 1:43:40and that's it. They they know him.
- 1:43:42Yeah, it's it's, it's good. It's not super healthy, but it's
- 1:43:46yeah. Yeah.
- 1:43:46What's your plans for the future like?
- 1:43:48Are you like not? I want to keep driving.
- 1:43:50Yeah, I've thought about maybe building another car for track
- 1:43:54oriented car, like a little different setup, but we'll see
- 1:43:56what happens with this. What about work you're going to?
- 1:43:59You want to be at the shop. Yeah, I really like what I do.
- 1:44:02I'm like really blessed that I. Enjoy what I do doing your own?
- 1:44:06What about that? Yeah.
- 1:44:07It's easy. It's what?
- 1:44:08You had to have. Thoughts.
- 1:44:09Yeah, but it's easy for me right now.
- 1:44:12I have it made like in my work is like it's 3 miles from here.
- 1:44:17I can go leave, leave all that shit at work.
- 1:44:22I make good money. I can afford all this stuff.
- 1:44:24I can afford my life it. Sounds like Ed.
- 1:44:27It's funny enough. Remember Eddie?
- 1:44:29We asked him the same thing and he was like, he's like, I have a
- 1:44:31good relationship with my boss. Like he's like, I'd rather just
- 1:44:34leave it like this. Yeah, and in that industry, like
- 1:44:36a good tech is hard to find. So even if I did want to leave
- 1:44:39that company for some reason, I could go anywhere else and find
- 1:44:42a job I need. To look into this.
- 1:44:45You're mic. Mic again.
- 1:44:48I I, I mean, if it's something you're interested in doing for a
- 1:44:51living, I would, I would. Really.
- 1:44:53Would you do paint? Yeah.
- 1:44:55Carl, is the mic messed up? Yeah, dude, yeah, No, I good.
- 1:44:58I I would like. I would.
- 1:45:00Yeah. Do that, I would do whatever it
- 1:45:02is that you need me to do to work on Commission and afford an
- 1:45:05S14 on yours type 2. We hire people, younger kids,
- 1:45:10and I mean, it's just tough to find any good help, any good
- 1:45:14help. I feel like there's too much.
- 1:45:16I that's my, I always think that there's too much.
- 1:45:18I'm like, there's so many kids in auto body industry.
- 1:45:20They gotta not in auto body industry really.
- 1:45:22It's tough, man. They're all old.
- 1:45:24Older. The average age is 55 I think.
- 1:45:27Holy shit yeah you are right because all the guys at Ethan
- 1:45:29shop are old. Too the old is how the.
- 1:45:30Average age in auto because I talked to I've talked.
- 1:45:33Your mic. Again, I talked to people that
- 1:45:35come in like we have like paint reps or sales reps or I, I
- 1:45:39talked to all these dudes like I'm friendly, friendly with them
- 1:45:42and I'm like just talk to them about the industry and other
- 1:45:45shops and stuff and. I just feel like kids don't want
- 1:45:47to fucking like they don't want to work.
- 1:45:50Anymore or, or they want to be making like $30.00 an hour in a
- 1:45:53way that's just difficult or they don't want to grind and
- 1:45:55it's like I try to like like I have trained.
- 1:45:59We have a local, it's College of Lake County, it's a local
- 1:46:02Community College. They have an auto body program
- 1:46:04and we have trained. I have one main apprentice, but
- 1:46:08I've trained two kids there and that is like if there was a
- 1:46:14future in that where I could make good money, like training
- 1:46:16people, I would love to do that. I love training.
- 1:46:18I love teaching people. So that's cool too.
- 1:46:20Though Yeah, so like having someone work under me you.
- 1:46:22Could probably do that on the side.
- 1:46:24If I could work, I don't even know I'd have to work for a
- 1:46:26school or something like that, like.
- 1:46:28Like doing something where you teach on the side because we
- 1:46:30were talking to Lee too and you know he's doing that drifting
- 1:46:33like T Corp thing and all that. That's not a really interesting
- 1:46:36as well like he was. Because there is like, as you
- 1:46:39know, probably in the automotive industry, there's like some
- 1:46:41people are kind of like older dudes especially can be kind of
- 1:46:43tough to work with. Oh, yeah.
- 1:46:46You know their attitudes. Especially if they don't like
- 1:46:47that learner teacher. Yeah, or they don't want to
- 1:46:50learn themselves. That's a big problem.
- 1:46:53Yeah, Yeah, that makes sense. I mean, I, I it's kind of the
- 1:46:58same in the, in the mechanic field too.
- 1:47:00Like it's hard to find people that are good, Yeah, that don't
- 1:47:04want to get paid $1,000,000 right off the bat.
- 1:47:06It's like, dude, if you're not, if you don't know what you're
- 1:47:08doing, you're not going to get paid that much.
- 1:47:09And you have to learn. So if you have to learn, that
- 1:47:11means you have to, you have to, you know, enjoy the suck for a
- 1:47:14minute and just fucking deal with it.
- 1:47:17That's so Ethan's shop, I told him.
- 1:47:20Because again, when you picture, when I picture a painter, I
- 1:47:23worked at a Body Shop briefly, but not thinking back on it, I
- 1:47:28did not take that for granted. I took that for granted.
- 1:47:30And there was opportunity there and I blew through it because I
- 1:47:36was out of college, wanted to go my desk job, what I went to
- 1:47:39school for, went to school for and didn't work out.
- 1:47:43But like I don't know that that that industry that always.
- 1:47:48Are doing at that age man. I know people go out.
- 1:47:51Military and stuff like that's crazy to me or send people to
- 1:47:53college even, but. But The thing is, is like, when
- 1:47:56you think of a painter there, I always just thought of him as
- 1:47:59just some old dude who has a cigarette in his mouth just like
- 1:48:01lays the color down after everyone's done prepping it, and
- 1:48:04he hates the rest of the other people at the shop.
- 1:48:07Like, that's what I think of a painter.
- 1:48:08And I feel like it doesn't have to be that way.
- 1:48:11No. And but.
- 1:48:13Those people are going to die off and they're better and
- 1:48:14nobody's going to want to work with them.
- 1:48:16They have live a better life and it's just a sad individual.
- 1:48:20Damn, so the whole shop does hate them.
- 1:48:21Dude, if we had Ethan here right now, he'd be going off.
- 1:48:24Yeah, and the painter at our shop, he's been there for 40
- 1:48:28years. The.
- 1:48:28Painter in my work's been there for a really long time also.
- 1:48:31Dude, I want to, I want to like I even told him like if let's
- 1:48:35say I do that for a year, I pick up as much as I can absorb, like
- 1:48:38as much as I can develop my own processes.
- 1:48:43And not saying that I would just leave, but if it wasn't working
- 1:48:46out for me, at least I would have learned something instead
- 1:48:48of like years flying by. I'm kind of just sitting behind
- 1:48:51the desk now. And like, I think you should
- 1:48:53100% go to a shop, find a nice quality shop that you think is
- 1:48:58aesthetically looks like a clean shop.
- 1:49:00They're shops that I've seen that are super low ceilings,
- 1:49:04they're dingy, they're grimy, there's parts from like 1980s
- 1:49:06sitting in the corner. Stay the fuck away.
- 1:49:08From those, those are the ones that.
- 1:49:09Go to like an actual knife shop. I don't know anything really
- 1:49:12about Gerber's or these like chain shops.
- 1:49:14I would try to find an independent shop that is is like
- 1:49:16a more family oriented. So it's collision.
- 1:49:20Yeah. Auto body.
- 1:49:21Yeah, collision painting. I don't.
- 1:49:23Mean even Ethan's shop maybe? If if you're, if you have the
- 1:49:27drive and you want to be a paint proper and as long as there is a
- 1:49:30future for you to be a painter because there's some people that
- 1:49:33you'll get stuck if you're good at what you do, you're stuck
- 1:49:35there because they're like, oh, he's good.
- 1:49:36I'm not going to teach him how to paint.
- 1:49:38He's a great prepper or he's like, he's good at buffing.
- 1:49:41Why am I going to have him? You know what I'm saying?
- 1:49:42Because they're not going to find anyone to fill that
- 1:49:44position. I do know that.
- 1:49:46So I'm not good with not good or not.
- 1:49:51I'm not bad, but I'm not the best with planning, probably
- 1:49:56because I didn't have these. But blocking, yeah, blocking and
- 1:50:00making it like a flat plane where you will see no deviation
- 1:50:03in the surface. I like laying the color down.
- 1:50:06That's probably my favorite thing about it.
- 1:50:08I like making sure you mix it, make it feel like a mad
- 1:50:13scientist, put it in the gun and the moment that it lays on,
- 1:50:17you're just watching it change in front of you and that's what
- 1:50:19I like. That's the most satisfying part.
- 1:50:21Everything leading up to that sucks.
- 1:50:23Everything leading up to it, well, no, like on a spray day,
- 1:50:26if I know the whole week I had spent all week prepping because
- 1:50:29on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, I'm just going to have booth loads.
- 1:50:32And then that little, the little process that I have on a
- 1:50:36spraying day, it's like nice. I have fun doing it because it's
- 1:50:39like, let me repaper the booth. I clean the gun usually at least
- 1:50:44before I use it every time. And then, you know, make sure my
- 1:50:48space is clean. My line isn't going to get
- 1:50:50caught on everything that practice the walk around and
- 1:50:52then spray it. That's like my favorite thing to
- 1:50:54do sweet. Because it's like, what sucks is
- 1:50:57that now I have to clean it all up like, and I also have a bit
- 1:51:02more of a like a sustainable way to set everything up.
- 1:51:05Are you using APPS system? A cup system.
- 1:51:07Yeah, perfect. Yeah, that's I was spraying with
- 1:51:09just the metal cups for the longest time and I like to.
- 1:51:11It's such a nightmare. You're like having what is what
- 1:51:14is PPS paint prep system I think right or something?
- 1:51:16Like that disposable cup liners I can show.
- 1:51:18You them. I have, I have, yeah, I think I
- 1:51:20have boxes of them and stuff like that.
- 1:51:21It it makes it OK, so much cleaner.
- 1:51:24All you have to do is basically unscrew the thing, the cup, the
- 1:51:26paint cup, and then just clean the gun.
- 1:51:28Instead, you're cleaning the big cup full of paint or primer.
- 1:51:32You're going through paper towels and primer.
- 1:51:34And I was trying to. Think of finding a bolt to screw
- 1:51:38into the cup so that I could just.
- 1:51:40Shake it a bunch of times. And then get really a lot of it
- 1:51:43out, but I, I was so sick of doing it, dude, like.
- 1:51:45Clean up and prep is always the craziest part of a paint.
- 1:51:48It's not even just because it's going to come out bad, it's
- 1:51:51going to come out unusable, dude.
- 1:51:53And then you're going to have to really like a paint reaction.
- 1:51:57I had two really bad ones and after that, that's why now I
- 1:52:01I'll I'll make sure to primer it if it needs primer.
- 1:52:03I don't care if I have to wait another day to go get primer
- 1:52:05because like the reaction, it just looks so bad.
- 1:52:10Like Wags's bumper has those little dimples on the bottom.
- 1:52:14That's a reaction to happen. Oh, I thought that maybe chips
- 1:52:17or something. No, maybe to the fiberglass that
- 1:52:20didn't cure it was probably still kind of soft maybe or
- 1:52:22maybe it wasn't primed or I don't even know what causes it,
- 1:52:25it just I guess deviation in the surface, but.
- 1:52:29Now I'm learning shit from Carl. Good, he can spray your car if
- 1:52:32you need to spray. He probably he must.
- 1:52:34Be doing that, Yeah, yeah. Yeah, easy peasy though.
- 1:52:38It's either Carl or Ed doing the doing the next thing.
- 1:52:41But then eventually Carl's going to be we.
- 1:52:43We needed someone. Absolutely everyone does.
- 1:52:45Yeah. So I'm glad he's doing this
- 1:52:48because it's going to be very helpful because when we were
- 1:52:51before Carl was in the group, we were fucking borrowing paint
- 1:52:55booths. Like all this shit.
- 1:52:56Luckily, Justin used to work at a shop that had a paint shop
- 1:52:59attached to it. So like, we would borrow the
- 1:53:01guy's booth, prep everything ourselves, drive the cars there,
- 1:53:06take everything off whatever prep saw or whatever, everything
- 1:53:09down and tack cloth it, and then we just spray it in the booth.
- 1:53:13We would do everything. Like, Justin literally had to
- 1:53:15learn how to paint and then and then we'd just leave.
- 1:53:18And then it was nice. It was really convenient.
- 1:53:20But you're not always gonna have that.
- 1:53:22So having someone that knows how to do it, and that's his thing.
- 1:53:25That's really good dude. You didn't even when you pulled
- 1:53:28up. You can't even tell Vera Frankie
- 1:53:30pulled in the driveway. I would just got done painting.
- 1:53:32It looks like a meth lab is in the.
- 1:53:34Gosh. Cuz the cuz the plastic is
- 1:53:36sealing to ceiling and it's on the further side, it's like a
- 1:53:39it's literally just like this. And in the middle, there's just.
- 1:53:41Split. Yeah, and you can't see in
- 1:53:44anymore cuz it's the. Anything could be going on
- 1:53:46behind that plastic. Anything.
- 1:53:47Yeah. You got a meat factory.
- 1:53:49You could be killing people. How?
- 1:53:50Did you vent this? Room I had I think this was the
- 1:53:55exhaust and that was my intake so I would close the garage door
- 1:53:58on a fan or just keep it open and then build it have a fan
- 1:54:01shooting out here hell yeah cuz I didn't want it cuz I had the
- 1:54:04cars parked right here yeah so I didn't want it shooting on my
- 1:54:07cars or any. Of your neighbors.
- 1:54:08Yeah, just hope for the best. I have like filters like on the
- 1:54:13exhaust fan, but no one actually said anything.
- 1:54:15They didn't do a. Lot the exhaust, the charcoal,
- 1:54:17it's like a panel filter or whatever the what filters did
- 1:54:20you? Use like a house filter.
- 1:54:22That's what I owe. Yeah, we're on the same HVAC
- 1:54:24filter. I did the same thing once, we
- 1:54:25built a paint booth in the driveway before final bout
- 1:54:28because you had to paint two cars and we're like fuck what do
- 1:54:30we do? Got a whole carport, cut holes
- 1:54:33in it, put box fans in it with filters.
- 1:54:37It worked for the first car, which was mine.
- 1:54:38The second car didn't really work out there.
- 1:54:40The the fucking paint was contaminated, there was water
- 1:54:43everywhere, everything was humid.
- 1:54:44Oh. Man it was fucked.
- 1:54:46That's the problem with small compressors also is they that's
- 1:54:48a lot of water. Yeah, I have a 30.
- 1:54:51Gallon yeah that's what I have too.
- 1:54:52That's why I spraying with here it.
- 1:54:53Looked like a lizard skin or something.
- 1:54:56Alligator skin, Yeah, that's. A Yeah.
- 1:54:58That's like, crazier than fucking.
- 1:54:59The gun could have been dirty or it could have been hot in there.
- 1:55:02So many things dude. Painting is so weird.
- 1:55:05We got cool though. We got a lot of questions.
- 1:55:06I'm going to ask some of these. Let me see for me.
- 1:55:09Yes. Do you, Oh my God, has this
- 1:55:11ever? Happened to you?
- 1:55:12Has this ever happened to you, too?
- 1:55:13Sorry. No, Go for it.
- 1:55:13I got to ask. Yeah, because I don't know what
- 1:55:16causes this, but I'll do all this work and come out with a
- 1:55:18bad job, and then some days I'll go outside and spray something
- 1:55:21in the middle of the backyard and it would come out amazing.
- 1:55:24Yeah. What is that?
- 1:55:25Something on the surface usually or something in the lines.
- 1:55:28So I don't know what your filter system is like.
- 1:55:31Or like inline system I have like a one on the compressor
- 1:55:34that's a bigger one and then on the gun I have like a.
- 1:55:35Little the little red pod, Yeah. OK.
- 1:55:37And then usually it's start. Do you use wax and grease
- 1:55:41remover just that's like a fail safe or do you just use glass?
- 1:55:45Cleaner. I just used the glass.
- 1:55:46I would get wax and grease remover and wipe everything down
- 1:55:48with it. And get one of.
- 1:55:50Those and then if you want to start sealing also using sealer,
- 1:55:54so I don't know what what primer are you using.
- 1:55:56And it's like a high build filler sand.
- 1:55:59What brand Rust Oleum. OK, so I use it's called Upaul.
- 1:56:04Have you heard of this brand fucking?
- 1:56:05Diego. 'S trying to U it's and it's
- 1:56:06nice the price point Amazon, the price boy it's super nice and
- 1:56:09you can thin it out so it's sealer so you can use it as a
- 1:56:11high build primer and block that that's what.
- 1:56:13He said. To him and then you can thin it
- 1:56:15out as sealer and that's like ensuring you have the cleanest.
- 1:56:18So you're sealing it and then you're basing it after that
- 1:56:21sealer flashes. No more sanding and then.
- 1:56:24No, after the sealer, no. You're basing off of that.
- 1:56:26Yeah, I heard about this. Sometimes I just watch painting.
- 1:56:28So I don't have a gallon here, I have a gallon of it at work but
- 1:56:30like it's a green gallon of primer.
- 1:56:32Orange. Other little thing.
- 1:56:34Yeah, I think it's on the Amazon app.
- 1:56:37Yeah, you should get that. I It's so useful because it's
- 1:56:402IN for one because you can thin it out to a sealer.
- 1:56:43That yeah, that's, if it's a small job, I'm a canned primer.
- 1:56:47Yeah, filler primer because it's just like.
- 1:56:49If it works, I personally don't like something that doesn't have
- 1:56:51a catalyst in it. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:56:54Yeah, it's not the same result. Yeah, I use the just a can for
- 1:56:57etch primer like when there's bad metal.
- 1:56:59That that that too like just a quick if it's something I just.
- 1:57:03All that you Paul stuff is really good and you can get out
- 1:57:05what? About a epoxy primer.
- 1:57:07That for like bare metal and stuff like that, yeah, that's I
- 1:57:11that's a whole thing. Yeah, that's how I feel.
- 1:57:13I don't know, that seems a little crazy for.
- 1:57:15Yeah, that's like fucking you restoration stuff.
- 1:57:18But then also I'm like, this car is like spent its whole life
- 1:57:21outside in horrible conditions. Now it's going to be inside.
- 1:57:23I don't know. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:57:25But we like the seam sealers and stuff are all epoxy, so it's
- 1:57:27like good for bare metal. So I don't really know.
- 1:57:30Because my interior I'm redoing it and I'm like, OK, let me
- 1:57:32spray primer, self fetch, self fetch on the metal areas.
- 1:57:39I'll seam seal where I want to or I'll prime everything and
- 1:57:43then seam seal on top of that, right.
- 1:57:44And then paint. Yeah.
- 1:57:45So yeah, but it's, I don't know. Pardon me is like, do I need to
- 1:57:49prime this whole fucking interior like it's.
- 1:57:51I you could seal and shoot it, probably it's.
- 1:57:53In pretty fucking good shape. A lot of it, it looks.
- 1:57:55I would just stuff it and seal it and shoot it.
- 1:57:58Yeah. So I don't know.
- 1:57:59Sealer is basically a really thin primer.
- 1:58:01OK, yeah, I heard about the sealer thing too.
- 1:58:03Yeah, I'm I obsessed over painting because it seems like
- 1:58:05it. There's the rules you got to
- 1:58:07follow. I know you should see the dudes
- 1:58:09in his auto body pages. So they're like you need to be
- 1:58:11use epoxy primer before you fix every day.
- 1:58:13I'm like, dude, we're fixing like a Kia.
- 1:58:15Like, I don't need to fucking yeah, I'm like.
- 1:58:16I'm not every good and you know what?
- 1:58:18I keep bringing him up. Sorry, Jimmy, I guess I'm
- 1:58:20fucking on your shit lately. But Jimmy is a real good
- 1:58:23inspiration for interior painting and stuff like that.
- 1:58:26He's very he's very meticulous, but he he swears by self etch
- 1:58:29and just yeah, go like go, go for that.
- 1:58:31He does use epoxy primer if he's doing something big, like a
- 1:58:34whole huge area, he says it's a better thing to do, but I don't
- 1:58:38know my. Thing is like it if the hood's
- 1:58:41already So I have a 240Z hood at the house right now.
- 1:58:43It's our friend Andy's and the previous painter.
- 1:58:46I guess whatever they used to seal it up after they did the
- 1:58:50body work, it had rust in there that wasn't fully gone I guess
- 1:58:56or wasn't treated correctly and now it had like bubbled up a
- 1:59:00paint. Paint looked pretty OK on the
- 1:59:03top it just it bubbled like a big bubble to the point where it
- 1:59:07just boom like chunks of clear. The sealer or whatever the
- 1:59:12primary they decided to use under that and now I thought
- 1:59:16that the epoxy primer is whenever it gets to bare metal
- 1:59:19and you have that situation where.
- 1:59:21There is possible, yeah. I think regular primer will not
- 1:59:23adhere to bare metal is what or something correctly, I don't
- 1:59:26know. So that's where you use an
- 1:59:27epoxy, OK. And then you stuff that or
- 1:59:30whatever and then you do your body work and then prime it.
- 1:59:33I was thinking it was better, yeah, it was better to or yeah,
- 1:59:38Regular Primer 1 is here to bare metal.
- 1:59:39Yeah, what you said like something like that?
- 1:59:41There's so. Many things, yeah.
- 1:59:43I don't know enough about the specifics.
- 1:59:44There's not a lot of questions because I just posted it before,
- 1:59:47but there's some stuff here. Let me.
- 1:59:48How are you shocked that people have questions for you man?
- 1:59:51People want to. Talk to I really I really did
- 1:59:53not I have. Tons of friends, literally just
- 1:59:55like. I guess I don't know who's a
- 1:59:57nerd for this. Stuff.
- 1:59:58You're doing a podcast with Mike.
- 1:59:59He's the nicest dude ever. That's what Bryson said this
- 2:00:01morning. Like how do you know Bryson is
- 2:00:03the nicest? Guy How do you know this guy?
- 2:00:05He's like. Yeah, man.
- 2:00:06No, he's really nice guy, man. He's a really nice guy.
- 2:00:10Is that how? He talks.
- 2:00:11Yeah, dude, we got we got some questions too, Carl, But Josh
- 2:00:16Joli's not a question, he says. Why does he have the best car
- 2:00:18ever? Yeah, that's how I feel too.
- 2:00:21Thank you. You.
- 2:00:22Got your friend who really likes this car?
- 2:00:24Yeah, and it's not that like means a lot coming from Josh
- 2:00:27also. Yeah.
- 2:00:28So for. Sure, because I mean Josh is
- 2:00:30into his own thing right now with the the other style.
- 2:00:32But we all know where Josh started and.
- 2:00:35And we talk a lot about, like, turbo setups.
- 2:00:36And he's been to Japan so many times.
- 2:00:38So I asked, like, how they set up cars over there.
- 2:00:40Yeah. So it's he's a wealth of
- 2:00:42information to me as well. Yeah.
- 2:00:45Connor Croke says. Why is he so handsome?
- 2:00:48I guess that is a fact. Do you know Connor Croke?
- 2:00:50He's. Yeah, anytime he comes out for
- 2:00:53final bout. Yeah, yeah, dude.
- 2:00:54I hope he just appears there. This.
- 2:00:56Time, that's what happens every year I'll I'll be looking out at
- 2:00:59the track and I'm just doing my little scan and I'm looking.
- 2:01:05And Connor's just there. He's gonna skate the whole way
- 2:01:07here. Yeah, and like we're like you.
- 2:01:09Who did you come? I don't know, but I'm glad
- 2:01:11you're here. Like we didn't know you.
- 2:01:13Were and The thing is, is like no matter where we are, even
- 2:01:15though it's a very strange setting and I'm bugging out
- 2:01:19saying I got her, he'll just be there.
- 2:01:22Yeah, so chill. Just like.
- 2:01:24It just. Doesn't Another question for us
- 2:01:27was, are the pods going to be on Patreon early this year?
- 2:01:32Yeah. What we're going to try to do is
- 2:01:33we're going to try to release, I think all of the podcasts, or at
- 2:01:36least a good group right away on the Patreon.
- 2:01:39What sucks is is like whoever asked that question, if they're
- 2:01:42not subscribed they're never going to get their answer
- 2:01:45because it all went out already. These aren't live,
- 2:01:47unfortunately. Yeah, we are releasing 1 this
- 2:01:49week, so that will be it. Well, no one.
- 2:01:51Will. I think that's a good idea
- 2:01:52though. Exactly.
- 2:01:54Yeah, you're right. I didn't think about that.
- 2:01:56I forget. I always forget.
- 2:01:57We're not doing this live. Yeah, because we've been.
- 2:01:59What are they thinking? How are you going to get your
- 2:02:00answer bro? I got to DM that guy.
- 2:02:03I can't. I'm not going to try to read
- 2:02:05this name, but recommendations for getting into drifting today
- 2:02:10at an older not old in quotes, but older age balancing adult
- 2:02:15responsibilities. Damn, that's a pretty good
- 2:02:18question actually. For me.
- 2:02:20Well, I think it's just because. For everyone but yeah, I would
- 2:02:22say. You, I don't know, just you do
- 2:02:25have to sacrifice a lot of stuff.
- 2:02:28There's like a lot of, I don't know, things I have to sacrifice
- 2:02:31in order to afford this stuff. And I just like, like I said,
- 2:02:34that anything that's not useful in my life, I just don't have.
- 2:02:37That's true too, though you can't have, you can have.
- 2:02:39Like main vice, you know. Yeah, you can't have like a a
- 2:02:41million hobbies. Yeah, yeah, I, I obviously, as
- 2:02:44you can tell like this is what I focus on.
- 2:02:46Yeah, besides my family now, so it.
- 2:02:48Shows. Thank you.
- 2:02:49Because then it's like a master of what is it.
- 2:02:52Yeah, yeah, I know what? You're saying I wish I could
- 2:02:55remember it but. Jack of all trades, but the
- 2:02:57master of none. You can see that in a lot of
- 2:02:59people though, in a lot of cars and stuff like that, or just
- 2:03:02like anything they do. Yeah, no, yeah, this is, I mean,
- 2:03:07I'm not going to keep completing your car.
- 2:03:09But bouncing on it. Diego said not a question, but
- 2:03:17have a Good Friday and good luck at final ballot.
- 2:03:20That's good. Fucking Diego.
- 2:03:22But go back to work. You got a bunch of dude Diego.
- 2:03:25He works. For himself, right?
- 2:03:27Yeah, wow, dude, he's everyday. Quit your day job.
- 2:03:31How are you today though? Like that and like, hey, how are
- 2:03:34you? Quit your day job yet?
- 2:03:35Oh, OK. Well, he wants to see you
- 2:03:36painting, right? Dude, I just think it's wild to
- 2:03:39me that that really that word catalyst, that was the catalyst
- 2:03:43for me that's bouncing on it. Was him like?
- 2:03:47Yeah, because. But that's good, he teaches you
- 2:03:49a lot of stuff and over the phone.
- 2:03:51Yeah, You know, Diego, I got this issue.
- 2:03:53What do you think I should do? I was gonna do this, but.
- 2:03:55And he's like, yeah, that sounds pretty good, but.
- 2:03:56The craziest part about Diego is the first time I met him was in
- 2:03:58Japan. Really.
- 2:04:00Right. Happy Hoku.
- 2:04:01Yeah, yeah, I'm just walking around.
- 2:04:03He's like, yo, what's up? I was like, oh, you're Diego.
- 2:04:05He's like, yeah, I'm like, this is insane.
- 2:04:06Like, what the fuck are we doing?
- 2:04:08Crazy fake under score, Sylvia says best in the game.
- 2:04:13I was just talking to him. He's a new dad also.
- 2:04:15Yeah, yeah, he's Nate. OK, I don't know if I'm a cool
- 2:04:18guy or not. Yeah, they're all really like,
- 2:04:21it's like the ones who are that got the sickest cars are all in
- 2:04:25that not phase, but what happened?
- 2:04:31No, the phone was. But not that phase of life, but
- 2:04:33like to see you guys just kind of progressing through life,
- 2:04:36like kind of is wild to me because it's like wholesome.
- 2:04:42It's like lights. Good, Yeah.
- 2:04:45Jake Jordan, do you all miss New Jersey?
- 2:04:49No. Well, I always miss New Jersey,
- 2:04:51just for the record. But it is.
- 2:04:53We're having a good time. Right now, me and Johnny were in
- 2:04:55the middle of the dispensary yesterday and Johnny's telling.
- 2:04:58Yeah, Johnny #1 New Jersey person loves Illinois is talking
- 2:05:01all this. Yeah, I'm gonna move here.
- 2:05:03They got cheese in Wisconsin and all this.
- 2:05:05I'm like, what are you talking about?
- 2:05:07Like you. Got Cheese?
- 2:05:09In Wisconsin. Johnny like that, he was just
- 2:05:10saying like a fuck with Illinois.
- 2:05:12It's a nice spot to beat. Like I'm like.
- 2:05:14OK, we don't have to get here. That's the guy with a guy.
- 2:05:16Yeah, that is the guy we took you.
- 2:05:18Here, Yeah, Where are you going to fucking drive, Johnny?
- 2:05:21Come on, bro. I'm.
- 2:05:22Just going to be a cowboy. I'm.
- 2:05:23Just going to be a highway racer.
- 2:05:25Yeah, that's literally what he would say.
- 2:05:26I just. Think it's funny?
- 2:05:27Dude, the simulation's really been simoned pretty hard.
- 2:05:30Why? Because.
- 2:05:31We were standing in the middle of the not middle, but we're on
- 2:05:37the side of the road and there's an abandoned car dealership
- 2:05:40there. Nothing sitting in there, but I
- 2:05:42can see a roof line of a Toyota Sequoia.
- 2:05:46I'm sitting there, right and we see that we.
- 2:05:47Almost made it through a whole episode.
- 2:05:48And we see that, and we see that, OK, hold on.
- 2:05:51And we see that. And to make Johnny happy, the
- 2:05:55aliens let a Evo 10 drive by. No other Evo 10?
- 2:06:00You and Johnny were there. We're standing here and I'm
- 2:06:03looking at this abandoned dealership and there's a Sequoia
- 2:06:06there behind a jersey barrier. Like it's just the top.
- 2:06:10And I saw it and I seen the roof wing.
- 2:06:12I'm like, that's a roof line of a Toyota Sequoia, right?
- 2:06:15There. Oh my God.
- 2:06:16Johnny like, let's walk over there, check it out and then as
- 2:06:18we're chilling there, Evo 10, I hear it like that sound, Johnny
- 2:06:22immediately yo. Like that was crazy.
- 2:06:27Guys, why? I'm like, dude, that was.
- 2:06:28Really weird. Like another another one was
- 2:06:30Damon's podcast we were doing and he, he he starts talking
- 2:06:34about his sisters. Yeah, she got into a car
- 2:06:35accident or something. And then you literally as he's
- 2:06:38saying that, he gets a text that his sister got into a car
- 2:06:41accident. Oh my God, that was really
- 2:06:43scary. That was.
- 2:06:43Really weird. Yeah, it was a little Fender
- 2:06:45Bender, but I know she just kind of started driving around and I
- 2:06:47was like, I just wanted to like text her and.
- 2:06:49Let her know he's like, yeah, I got to take a phone call about
- 2:06:51my sister getting in a car accident.
- 2:06:52We're all like what? Like that?
- 2:06:53That just happened. Yeah, it was.
- 2:06:55Really. Freaky, last one was express
- 2:06:58your feelings on less is more for these chassis.
- 2:07:02Yeah, less is more, especially in today's, like, day and age.
- 2:07:06Everyone's just trying to throw everything at it.
- 2:07:08Any little doodad. Just because you can doesn't
- 2:07:10mean you should. Oh my God, there's so much
- 2:07:11doodad. There's like so much stuff to
- 2:07:14like buy for these cars, like any.
- 2:07:16And people are making all these little like the mirror things
- 2:07:19for the ganadores, and it's like, you don't have to buy all
- 2:07:22that. Stuff.
- 2:07:22I love that dude but that was my first thought too when you said
- 2:07:25it's. There's so much like all these
- 2:07:26canards and everything that are people are putting on cars is
- 2:07:30just, it just becomes too much. I mean, that's like a thing we
- 2:07:32see in general. Remember, I always tell you I'm
- 2:07:34like, yeah, just stick whatever you can on the fucking car.
- 2:07:37Like if we always just see cars that way too much it's.
- 2:07:39Too much? Was it like the BCL wing that
- 2:07:41started that? I don't even know where.
- 2:07:42Wow. That's a good theory.
- 2:07:43What the heck? You know what I'm saying?
- 2:07:45No, it was a 326 power wing. Oh God.
- 2:07:47And then the little Gurney flaps that you put on.
- 2:07:49No, don't make fun of those. Yeah.
- 2:07:52I like that, don't you? I love Gurney.
- 2:07:53Flaps. You're a racer, bro.
- 2:07:55Probably because Josh had one on his fucking Type X wing.
- 2:07:57Oh, did he? That's cool.
- 2:07:58That's. Probably why I like them, but.
- 2:07:59I think that the word doodad. Doodad just.
- 2:08:03Just kind of encompassed all of those little products because
- 2:08:07that is kind of what I think of. But here's an example.
- 2:08:10Sometimes it's necessary because that's you committing fully to
- 2:08:14that style, right? Because Lee's car has about 19.
- 2:08:17Doodads different. Doodads on it and I normally
- 2:08:21don't like that. Like I agree with you, but on
- 2:08:24there that's you committing fully and it looks sick.
- 2:08:26It looks like it's ready to fight.
- 2:08:28At the end of the day, it's all about.
- 2:08:30Execution. And that's how his cars have
- 2:08:31always been too. Kind of it's.
- 2:08:34Committed. Yeah, even as Supra was like
- 2:08:36that kind of arrow and stuff. And he makes it work.
- 2:08:39We were talking about it there. We were like, dude, that's my
- 2:08:42favorite proceed car right now, which I never thought I would
- 2:08:44say, but that one is my favorite one right now.
- 2:08:47This new iteration is crazy. It looks everything fits it.
- 2:08:50You know it's perfect. The modern day.
- 2:08:52And The thing is, another problem I have with people doing
- 2:08:55all that stuff is that they do all that stuff for whatever
- 2:08:59reason. And then it's like comes off
- 2:09:02like fucking a month later and you're like, well, what was even
- 2:09:04the point? Like clearly you didn't like it
- 2:09:06or whatever. It's like, what is the point of
- 2:09:07all this? And not specifically, It doesn't
- 2:09:08age well. Yeah, well, definitely, you
- 2:09:11know, not specifically drifting, but even I'm thinking regular
- 2:09:13customers that come in with just random shit on their car like
- 2:09:17that. But yeah, I got this.
- 2:09:18I got this wing I got this dude. You don't need that.
- 2:09:21Like the car looks good the way it is like lower it, put wheels
- 2:09:24on it, this and that. I'm just.
- 2:09:26Picturing the guy. Subaru people guy or the I need
- 2:09:29the splitters. No, no, no, it's not.
- 2:09:30Yeah. Bro, bro, bro, it's not.
- 2:09:31It's not Subaru people. It is 2014 Honda Accord people.
- 2:09:36I'm sure it is. With the vortex generator.
- 2:09:39All that the. Carbon fiber wing?
- 2:09:40That or mirror covers that make it look like the M mirror.
- 2:09:42Yeah, that's a good example. The Batmobile wing, the lips on
- 2:09:46the bottom. Yeah, yeah, it's too much.
- 2:09:49What's what I do is like, I look at that and I'm like, will that
- 2:09:53fit my car? Like because I yeah, I like
- 2:09:57taking stuff from other cars and then like mixing them.
- 2:10:00That's just like mixing a bunch of other stuff.
- 2:10:02When you look at Mike's car, it's like if you had this car
- 2:10:05out on the road and you looked at it, you're like, oh wow, let
- 2:10:07me study this car real quick. You see OEM fenders, OEM rear
- 2:10:11quarters, OEM wing. Technically, yeah, everything's
- 2:10:15factory, but it's lowered, it's on wheels and it's got a body
- 2:10:18kit. And that's how I like cars.
- 2:10:20And it's and mirrors and that's it.
- 2:10:22And it's like the car's perfect. Why?
- 2:10:24Because it's painted one color. I like that the Vine the vinyl
- 2:10:28tune hasn't hit this I know are. You so I look, I'm looking at
- 2:10:31that. Right now, but it did have.
- 2:10:32It at one point, like a little bit.
- 2:10:33Oh yeah. Yeah, it's some stickers on the
- 2:10:35hood. I've thought about it.
- 2:10:36Yeah, it's always like. No, Mike.
- 2:10:38But when you do do it, it's not going to be, it's going to be
- 2:10:41what we like. I know.
- 2:10:42It it'll be yeah, I've already, I have it planned out if I do
- 2:10:46it. But again, it's like how long I
- 2:10:48drive the car regular. I go to the fucking Whole Foods
- 2:10:50in this thing, like, you know, I drive it on the street like
- 2:10:53regularly, like. But like at the same time.
- 2:10:56So he said that with this car. Whole Foods, this car in the
- 2:11:00color it is, it's already crazy to me.
- 2:11:02Like if you had subtle vinyl on it, I don't think it's going to
- 2:11:04really change the craziness level, you know what I mean?
- 2:11:07Or the OR the second hand embarrassment, you know, driving
- 2:11:10around and your grandma's seeing it or.
- 2:11:12Something exactly. Yeah.
- 2:11:13I want it to be appealing to like regular people in a way.
- 2:11:15Also because I like, I want them.
- 2:11:16I don't know. I get what you're saying, yeah,
- 2:11:19but I also like pissing people off.
- 2:11:20Regular people. Yeah, because like, what the
- 2:11:22fuck is this loud thing with stickers on the windshield?
- 2:11:24And dude, I missed that part of drifting when it was
- 2:11:26counterculture. Oh yeah, now it's like, not.
- 2:11:30Now it's like they're trying a little bit.
- 2:11:32To be counterculture now sometimes like it's too much.
- 2:11:35Jake pulled his wallet out the other day and had a fucking
- 2:11:39chain attached to it. I was like, dude.
- 2:11:41Gen. Z is getting crazy.
- 2:11:42Like a Harley. Yeah, I was like, what?
- 2:11:45Gen. Z is doing crazy.
- 2:11:46That's. Kind of a East Coast, I guess
- 2:11:48that's like shit's kind of big out there, right?
- 2:11:49Like Harley and hot rod culture, yes, it's like kind of like.
- 2:11:53We don't see too many chain wallets I.
- 2:11:54Would say I. Wouldn't I think?
- 2:11:55Engineer boots are next for him. Oh yeah, probably I I I do.
- 2:12:00With those, no, these are just I do.
- 2:12:02Appreciate those look comfortable.
- 2:12:03Like that's why I'd never thought I'd wear these.
- 2:12:05How much was it comfortable? Yeah, I do want to say before
- 2:12:07we're done with this, I miss your black hood.
- 2:12:09I don't know why. Yeah, I just, I, I mean, I
- 2:12:13obviously I miss carbon fiber hoods, but yours was.
- 2:12:16Black, right? It was carbon, it was carbon, it
- 2:12:17was raw carbon and it was such nice quality.
- 2:12:19Yeah, I miss carbon fiber hoods on cars.
- 2:12:23Like I just, I think that's cool.
- 2:12:24It can be cool, at least on this car.
- 2:12:27For an example it would be awesome as well.
- 2:12:29But this hood is so good. Paint match.
- 2:12:30I had it for so long like that. That was like one of the things,
- 2:12:34yeah. So I was like, what can I do to
- 2:12:35switch the car out a little bit more?
- 2:12:37And it was paint the hood. Yeah, makes sense.
- 2:12:38Yeah, that was like one thing all.
- 2:12:40Right, we're pretty much done, all right.
- 2:12:41I wanted to say thank you. Yeah, of course.
- 2:12:44Yeah. Thank you guys.
- 2:12:46Took over your little space here.
- 2:12:47We could keep going, it's just we know we have final balance.
- 2:12:49Yeah, we have to be. We are on AI, don't even know
- 2:12:51what time it is. I could care less to be honest.
- 2:12:52Two hours. We're trying to do 2 hours and
- 2:12:54then. We're at two hours already.
- 2:12:55Yep. Oh my, thought we were at 1 1/2
- 2:12:57one but we're pretty much at this has been so Mike and thank
- 2:13:01you bro, like what the fuck. Yeah, dude, that was don't.
- 2:13:03Think we're gonna get up and I'm not gonna hug you, dude.
- 2:13:05But that's you're gonna squeeze the pee out of me, Dude, I gotta
- 2:13:08do that's pee so bad. But.
- 2:13:10Thank you so much. All right, this has been another
- 2:13:12episode. Stay tuned.
- 2:13:13We got more for you. We're not done.
- 2:13:16Make sure you checking. In bro a locking we really are
- 2:13:19locking in right? Now make sure you check out 224
- 2:13:22Period Racing on Instagram. Do they already follow him?
- 2:13:25Yeah, well, if you don't, make sure you check him out.
- 2:13:27And definitely check out Gleam, Team Gleam from the Chicago
- 2:13:31area. This team is the epitome of
- 2:13:34stylist drifting. So I can't hear it.
- 2:13:37I love it. Grandmas love everything about
- 2:13:38me. See you on the next.
- 2:13:41One later. See you.
- 2:13:42Bye. All right, guys.
- 2:13:50Well, that concludes our Mike Jones podcast.
- 2:13:55As I said in the intro, there's just not enough words to
- 2:13:59describe how thankful we are for Mike Jones and the love that his
- 2:14:03family gave us on this trip. So after, after our podcast,
- 2:14:09Mike decided, Hey, I'm just going to follow you guys like
- 2:14:111/2 hour out of my way and you can drive my S14 to see how the
- 2:14:17TDO 6 feels. And I was like, you really don't
- 2:14:20need to do all that. And he's like, no, no, no,
- 2:14:22you're going to drive. I'm like, OK, so he let me drive
- 2:14:25his car for like 20 minutes up the up the road.
- 2:14:28And I just had a blast. It was, it was a really good
- 2:14:30time. I got to feel what a TDO 6 feels
- 2:14:33like. So that's, that's the turbo
- 2:14:34that's going in my car. So I got this, you know, see how
- 2:14:38awesome it wasn't all of it, all of its turbo lag glory.
- 2:14:41So yeah, it was it was a fun time.
- 2:14:45Carl got amazing gifts. I got a keychain, a pivot knob
- 2:14:48keychain that was made by Mike Jones good friend.
- 2:14:52So it was just crazy, crazy podcast.
- 2:14:56I'm very thankful we were able to do this.
- 2:14:58I hope to talk to Mike again on our next final bout trip.
- 2:15:01There's just never enough time. So hopefully Mike can make his
- 2:15:04way out here at some point. Maybe all the Glean guys can
- 2:15:06come out here and do a little drift day at at Ridgeway Park,
- 2:15:09because that would be amazing. But yeah, one of my favorite
- 2:15:14podcasts.
