- 0:26planetary landing and beginning in situ experiments.
- 0:30So today, celebrate human curiosity with a moment
- 0:34of wonder about exploration. So now you know.

- 2:42day from 8 to 5. So stop on by and don't forget
- 2:46to tell them. Sunny mornings send you. In local
- 2:51news, in case you were worried, a Bigfoot sighting
- 2:55in Maine turned out to be simply a man in a costume.
- 2:59The Damariscotta Police Department received an
- 3:02unusually high number of calls about a Sasquatch,
- 3:05yet a Bigfoot, or possibly just a very large
- 3:08and hairy individual roaming around town on Tuesday.
- 3:13Following a lengthy, exhaustive, and completely
- 3:17serious investigation, The police determined
- 3:20that Bigfoot is not real. Officers concluded
- 3:24there was no evidence of criminal activity, no
- 3:27indication of anything nefarious afoot, and unfortunately
- 3:31no groundbreaking discovery of a previously unknown
- 3:34species. The Post humorously stated, case closed.
- 3:40Bigfoot remains at large, provided he puts his
- 3:43costume back on. Now on to sports. The New England
- 3:52Patriots under Bill Belichick sought every possible
- 3:56advantage, even with the Gillette Stadium video
- 3:59board. Former NFL analytics staffer Ryan Paganetti
- 4:04revealed a diabolically clever method that may
- 4:07have distracted opposing kickers. As a visiting
- 4:11team prepared for a field goal, the video board
- 4:13occasionally displayed a reverse camera angle.
- 4:16creating the illusion of four yellow uprights.
- 4:20Paganetti noted that this could cause some level
- 4:23of hesitation for kickers. Interestingly, during
- 4:27New England's own attempts, this extra distraction
- 4:30never appeared. Paganetti's research illustrates
- 4:33how every detail can be crucial in a game. In
- 4:38local sports, the Red Sox open a four -game set
- 4:42at Baltimore tonight. First pitch 7 -15, looking
- 4:46to shake off back -to -back losses to Seattle
- 4:48after falling 8 -3 in the finale. Roman Anthony
- 4:53went deep and finished 3 -for -5 in that one,
- 4:56but Patrick Sandoval took the loss, dropping
- 4:59to 1 -4. Boston is 75 -65 now, and it's not just
- 5:05the lineup trending up. Garrett Crochet is throwing
- 5:09off a mound again, hitting 89 -90. and could
- 5:12pitch out of the bullpen as soon as this weekend
- 5:15as Boston chases a second straight wild card.
- 5:19Sadon Raffaella left Wednesday with quad tightness,
- 5:22but should be back in center against the Orioles.
- 5:27Jake Fennett gets the ball tonight opposite Brandon
- 5:29Young, with catcher Wilson Contreras still out.
- 5:34Meanwhile, the Patriots are dealing with some
- 5:36late summer roster turn six days from kickoff
- 5:39against Seattle. Running back Travion Henderson
- 5:43missed practice with a sprained ankle, worth
- 5:46watching closely given his role in the backfield.
- 5:49New England also shuffled the roster, claiming
- 5:52a tight end and linebacker off waivers while
- 5:55placing several players on injured reserve. On
- 5:59the ice, the Bruins will open camp without Charlie
- 6:02McEvoy, suspended six games for a playoff slash
- 6:05on Buffalo's Zach Benson. In top news, the National
- 6:12Basketball Association has suspended Los Angeles
- 6:16Clippers owner Steve Balmer for one year and
- 6:19fined the team $30 million. The Clippers were
- 6:23also ordered to forfeit five first -round draft
- 6:25picks for violating salary cap circumvention
- 6:28rules involving Kawhi Leonard, who received a
- 6:31penalty of $700 ,000. President of Basketball
- 6:36Operations Lawrence Frank was banned for six
- 6:39months, While tea president of business operations,
- 6:42Gillian Zucker was suspended for one year. The
- 6:46Clippers, maintaining their innocence, stated
- 6:48they will vigorously challenge the findings through
- 6:51arbitration. Kauai Leonard expressed regret for
- 6:55the situation, accepting responsibility for lapses
- 6:58by his inner circle. In business news, prediction
- 7:04market traders think job creation rebounded in
- 7:07August. After a disappointing July payrolls report,
- 7:11traders believe August will show a rebound in
- 7:13hiring, though potentially not as strong as economists
- 7:17expect. Speculators on Kalshi see 50 -50 odds
- 7:22that more than 50 ,000 jobs were created last
- 7:25month. This reflects a slightly lower outlook
- 7:28than the Dow Jones consensus estimate of 53 ,000
- 7:32jobs created in August. Prediction market traders
- 7:35on Polymarket give a 48 % likelihood that the
- 7:39economy created more than 50 ,000 jobs in August.
- 7:43The August employment reading will be delivered
- 7:45at 8 .30 a .m. Eastern time on Friday. In crypto
- 7:50movement, Bitcoin is unchanged at about $78 ,000.

- 8:52back to the show. Let's talk tech. Uber has beaten
- 8:57Waymo in launching the first commercial robotaxi
- 9:00service in London. using autonomous driving technology
- 9:04developed by Wave, a United Kingdom -based startup.
- 9:09Initially, these vehicles will have human safety
- 9:11drivers behind the wheel. This launch marks a
- 9:14significant milestone for Uber, allowing it to
- 9:17set the standard for the RoboTaxi experience
- 9:20for thousands of Londoners. The RoboTaxis will
- 9:24operate without a geofence, as Wave's AV2 .0
- 9:27system is designed to adapt to new environments.
- 9:31Wave's autonomous driving system can learn on
- 9:34the go, much like a human driver, and is hardware
- 9:38agnostic. Uber plans to invest upwards of $10
- 9:41billion in its robo -taxi business over time.
- 9:48And in entertainment news, Apple TV has several
- 9:52unforgettable feel -good comedies, from Ted Lasso
- 9:56to Shrinking. But before either of those shows
- 9:58even aired, the streamer pulled off a miracle
- 10:01with Trying, which evolved into a series about
- 10:04an established family parenting two teens. After
- 10:08a huge time jump before Season 4, the series
- 10:11became stronger than ever, exploring family bonds
- 10:15set up in previous seasons. Now that Season 5
- 10:19has concluded this chapter of the characters'
- 10:21lives, it is time for Trying to reinvent itself
- 10:24yet again. Although trying has not been officially
- 10:28renewed, it has a lot of potential to mine. Well,
- 10:33all righty folks, it's time for the quote of
- 10:36the day. And today, our quote comes from the
- 10:40American astronaut and physicist, Sally Ride.
- 10:44And she said, science is fun. Science is curiosity.
- 10:49We all have natural curiosity. Science is a process
- 10:53of investigating. It's posing questions and coming
- 10:57up with a method. It's delving in. And that's
- 11:01a wrap for this morning. You can check out our
- 11:04Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok for some captivating
- 11:08aerial videos with local news and the weather
- 11:11reports. Have an amazing day, my good friends.
