- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett. All Right, folks, the Yanks
- 0:07Speaker 1: are down zero to two in this series. And while
- 0:11Speaker 1: everybody's referencing two nineteen ninety six, when the Yanks were
- 0:16Speaker 1: down oh two, then they went to Atlanta and came
- 0:19Speaker 1: back and won. I have an actual relevant precedent here
- 0:26Speaker 1: when it comes to the Los Angeles Dodgers and the
- 0:30Speaker 1: New York Yankees. That was the final out of nineteen
- 0:45Speaker 1: seventy eight in Chevez Ravine when the Yankees won the
- 0:49Speaker 1: World Series. But for those panicking, do you understand what
- 0:52Speaker 1: happened in nineteen seventy eight back then with Munson and
- 0:58Speaker 1: Reggie and Mickey Rivers and Willie Randolph, Roy White, Lupanella,
- 1:04Speaker 1: Bucky Dent, who of course started the nineteen seventy eight
- 1:06Speaker 1: postseason campaign with that clutch home run into over Fenway
- 1:12Speaker 1: Park over the Ring Monster. Well, they went down two
- 1:18Speaker 1: against the Dodgers in nineteen seventy eight as well. And
- 1:23Speaker 1: so maybe just maybe seeing this score sheet of what
- 1:28Speaker 1: happened in the next four games will light up the
- 1:31Speaker 1: twenty twenty four Yankees, maybe by posting the fact that, hey,
- 1:35Speaker 1: this Yankee franchise has been down before against LA and
- 1:39Speaker 1: came back to New York, won three straight and then
- 1:41Speaker 1: won the final game to win the World Series Game six.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Maybe Thurman Munson, you know, they do talk about ghosts,
- 1:49Speaker 1: and of course Thurman made the final out of that
- 1:52Speaker 1: World Series, and we all know what happened in nineteen
- 1:56Speaker 1: seventy nine. But maybe his spirits and the spirit of
- 2:01Speaker 1: George Steinberner and those Yankees who have gone before us
- 2:06Speaker 1: are willing that kind of energy back into the Bronx
- 2:09Speaker 1: this weekend. This week, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are the
- 2:14Speaker 1: most crucial times for the Yankee fan base to show up.
- 2:19Speaker 1: This is the season on the line, all win two
- 2:22Speaker 1: against the Dodgers. And I know there are people saying, well,
- 2:25Speaker 1: this is not nineteen seventy eight, it's a different team.
- 2:29Speaker 1: But this team has something similar to but a little
- 2:34Speaker 1: different than seventy eight. They have a lineup that can
- 2:40Speaker 1: just line up a scoreboard. You look at the scores
- 2:44Speaker 1: of nineteen seventy eight. Yeah, they had Reggie and he
- 2:47Speaker 1: had that three homeown game in seventy seven against the Dodgers.
- 2:53Speaker 1: But that Yankee team had grit. It was the Bronx zoo.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And I think why Jake Kosa created the Bronx Zoo
- 3:01Speaker 1: tbz is because he wanted to bring back that energy
- 3:05Speaker 1: of the chaogness of the winning times too. That was
- 3:09Speaker 1: the nostalgic Bronx Zoo. So this week, instead of booing
- 3:16Speaker 1: Aaron Judge, give him that standing ovation. He's had a
- 3:20Speaker 1: rough postseason, he's had a rough World Series. But you
- 3:25Speaker 1: can't turn your back on the captain. He's got the
- 3:30Speaker 1: Sea on his jersey for a reason, and he actually
- 3:35Speaker 1: just won most Outstanding Player of the Year of twenty
- 3:37Speaker 1: twenty four in the American League. Don't turn your back
- 3:42Speaker 1: on him now. Don't turn your back on this team now.
- 3:48Speaker 1: There is a precedence, which is why I'm not giving
- 3:54Speaker 1: up faith. And wherever will be for Game three tomorrow night,
- 4:00Speaker 1: we'll be praying. You know, I've seen highlights in baseball
- 4:03Speaker 1: stadiums are in the World Series of people carrying their
- 4:05Speaker 1: rosaries and doing what they got to do to pray
- 4:07Speaker 1: and pray for this team to win. I mean, it
- 4:10Speaker 1: is a bit of a religion. I've always called sports
- 4:13Speaker 1: a sportsuality because of the bond we have. It is
- 4:16Speaker 1: a spiritual bond to sports, to the Yankees that some
- 4:20Speaker 1: of us have there's a kinship to baseball. As I
- 4:26Speaker 1: said before, It's been passed down generation to generation, and
- 4:32Speaker 1: so we can't let those that got us into the
- 4:34Speaker 1: game down by just giving up on the team. We
- 4:36Speaker 1: can't let the ghosts of Yankees' lore down by giving
- 4:41Speaker 1: up on the team. They built this team from the forties,
- 4:44Speaker 1: the thirties, the fifties, it twenties. So don't be that
- 4:49Speaker 1: average modern day Yankee fan which seems to be saying
- 4:52Speaker 1: the series is over. Have that nineteen seventy eight energy,
- 4:56Speaker 1: Have that positivity that our Yankees ancestry and our ancestry
- 5:05Speaker 1: who gave us this love of baseball would want us
- 5:08Speaker 1: to have. I want to tell you the scores in
- 5:13Speaker 1: nineteen seventy eight of what happened in Games two, Games three, four, five,
- 5:19Speaker 1: and six. So they come back down, oh two, Yanks
- 5:23Speaker 1: win five to one, Then they win four to three
- 5:28Speaker 1: to tie the series, then twelve to two in Game five,
- 5:33Speaker 1: and then of course they win the World Series in
- 5:36Speaker 1: Game six, seven to two. It can happen. We just
- 5:41Speaker 1: got to have a better mentality, a better aptitude, and
- 5:51Speaker 1: whatever you want to say attitude about it. The series
- 5:56Speaker 1: is not over. We've been here for our generation, which
- 6:00Speaker 1: is nineteen ninety six all over again, but for those
- 6:02Speaker 1: before us, it's nineteen seventy eight. And the other interesting
- 6:12Speaker 1: thing to me is that this and the other thought
- 6:25Speaker 1: is this. We are New Yorkers. We don't give up
- 6:27Speaker 1: on our teams. We shouldn't give up on our teams.
- 6:30Speaker 1: So let's change the mindset and the attitude collectively and
- 6:38Speaker 1: bringing an energy of willing this team to win and
- 6:46Speaker 1: just take us back to the glory days, bring us
- 6:49Speaker 1: a World Series home. It will be the toughest four
- 6:54Speaker 1: wins the Yankees get, but they are built for this.
- 7:00Speaker 1: And I refuse to believe that the twenty twenty two
- 7:06Speaker 1: aocs will be repeated again. I just refuse to believe it.
- 7:12Speaker 1: The Yanks have more heart, they have more of depth,
- 7:15Speaker 1: they have more of a team, and they have a
- 7:20Speaker 1: captain that needs a sending ovation to give them that encouragement.
- 7:26Speaker 1: So we'll probably go to Game four and hopefully that'll
- 7:29Speaker 1: be a game tying scenario. But let's see how things
- 7:37Speaker 1: play out. Yangs come back to the Bronx. The series
- 7:39Speaker 1: is not over yet. Look at nineteen seventy eight, look
- 7:41Speaker 1: at footage of that year. If you need to be
- 7:44Speaker 1: fired up. They in between the travel day, the off day.
- 7:52Speaker 1: If you will back to the Bronx, we'll talk to
- 7:56Speaker 1: you soon on the one Like Up Network. I'm Alex
- 7:58Speaker 1: Garrett Yangs still have a chance to have one leg
- 8:01Speaker 1: up in this world series. We got to stand behind
- 8:03Speaker 1: them and get them there collectively as Rep. B X
- 8:08Speaker 1: and nothing less.
