- 0:46Speaker 1: Thanks for being with us. It is a Tuesday edition
- 0:50Speaker 1: and we have slapped together a really decent show for
- 0:53Speaker 1: you today. We're going to hear from Mike Elko, Micah Riley.
- 0:58Speaker 1: We've got a high school report in the second hour.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I'm going to be joined by author Michael Starr. His
- 1:05Speaker 1: latest book is called Bob Newhart, The Life and Laughter
- 1:09Speaker 1: of an American Treasure. Mallory is here with some entertainment
- 1:13Speaker 1: news as well. So buckle up. I think it will
- 1:18Speaker 1: be a semi-entertaining two hours of your life. Ross Dellinger
- 1:24Speaker 1: is reporting $ 125 million conferences gained from the ESPN new
- 1:32Speaker 1: expansion deal is not additive, but replaces lost ticket and
- 1:37Speaker 1: sponsorship revenue from the conference championship games. According to Dellinger,
- 1:46Speaker 1: a small group of college sports executives hammered out the
- 1:50Speaker 1: new ESPN deal and and the 24-team expansion, including SEC
- 1:56Speaker 1: Commissioner Greg Sankey, Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti, and Notre
- 2:02Speaker 1: Dame AD Pete Pavacqua with the most conversations. Executives presented
- 2:08Speaker 1: the new contract details to the rest of the CFP
- 2:12Speaker 1: management committee. Each power conference champion will receive an automatic bid. Well, duh.
- 2:21Speaker 1: The first round, will be played on the second week
- 2:24Speaker 1: of December on the campus of the Higher Seeds. The
- 2:28Speaker 1: second round playing in the third week of December on
- 2:32Speaker 1: the campus of the Better Seeds. There will be weeknight
- 2:38Speaker 1: playoff games. The quarterfinals and semifinals will continue to be
- 2:43Speaker 1: played in the rotation of the Cotton Sugar Fiesta Rose
- 2:48Speaker 1: Peach and Orange Bowl. The quarters remain New Year's week,
- 2:53Speaker 1: semifinals second week of January, so the season just keeps
- 2:58Speaker 1: getting extended. And the most likely destination for the Army-Navy
- 3:03Speaker 1: game and the Heisman ceremony will be the opening week
- 3:07Speaker 1: of December, which will be an off week for teams.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Still not sure what is going to happen to the
- 3:16Speaker 1: bowl games. It's been announced that former A & M
- 3:20Speaker 1: AD and football coach Jackie Sherrill has been selected as
- 3:24Speaker 1: the recipient of the Bear Bryant Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored
- 3:30Speaker 1: by the American Heart Association. Sherrill, of course, led the
- 3:35Speaker 1: Aggies to their first Cotton Bowl in nearly 20 years
- 3:38Speaker 1: when he won the SWC Championship in 1985. one of
- 3:45Speaker 1: the five honors given every year at the Bear Bryant
- 3:49Speaker 1: Ceremony in Houston. This year will be January 27th, which
- 3:56Speaker 1: will be two days after the national championship game. On3
- 4:05Speaker 1: is reporting that Tennessee set the highest scientifically verified decibel
- 4:13Speaker 1: record in college football history against Alabama, 130.3. They say
- 4:24Speaker 1: a game at Death Valley and LSU registered on the
- 4:29Speaker 1: Richter scale one year that measures earthquakes. Suffice it to say,
- 4:35Speaker 1: it was loud at Neyland Stadium Saturday when Tennessee upset Alabama.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Auburn has dismissed star linebacker Xavier Atkins. Atkins suspended in
- 4:47Speaker 1: the win over Georgia Saturday. His status had been uncertain.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Alex Golish announcing the suspension last week before the Georgia game.
- 4:59Speaker 1: No reason was disclosed. Atkins took to Twitter today saying,
- 5:05Speaker 1: I have nothing but respect for Auburn, will continue to
- 5:08Speaker 1: support my teammates, and will enter the transfer portal at
- 5:14Speaker 1: the appropriate time. College football continues tonight with Middle Tennessee
- 5:20Speaker 1: against Florida International in a big Conference USA game. Another one,
- 5:27Speaker 1: Missouri State at Delaware. Another one, South Alabama and Marshall.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Tomorrow night, Sam Houston hosts New Mexico State. Tex-Ax is
- 5:42Speaker 1: reporting that Jordan Pope's preliminary injunction has been granted by
- 5:48Speaker 1: a California judge, meaning as of now, he will be
- 5:54Speaker 1: eligible to play for Texas A & M. The court
- 5:59Speaker 1: case continues. Meanwhile, Bill Self has announced that he has
- 6:08Speaker 1: a new player. Kaufman Wren played for Purdue. He was
- 6:17Speaker 1: like the Carl Malone finalist last year. He is 104
- 6:24Speaker 1: years old, redshirted his freshman year due to injury, played
- 6:30Speaker 1: four years at Purdue, filed a lawsuit seeking a sixth
- 6:36Speaker 1: year of eligibility under the new 5-for-5, arguing his redshirt
- 6:42Speaker 1: year should have counted. A Clark County judge gave him
- 6:46Speaker 1: a preliminary injunction. October 9th, allowing him to join another
- 6:53Speaker 1: team while the case continues. This stuff won't go away.
- 7:02Speaker 1: And a lot of it is basketball. And where did
- 7:06Speaker 1: my story on LSU go? Doggone it. Let me see
- 7:12Speaker 1: if I can dig this out somewhere. Will Wade has
- 7:17Speaker 1: gone two for three in the courts. R.J. Lewis, who
- 7:22Speaker 1: he expected to play, has been declared ineligible. But a
- 7:26Speaker 1: couple of other, quote, amateur athletes have been so far
- 7:35Speaker 1: granted permission to play for LSU. Still not known how
- 7:40Speaker 1: many players... Will Wade has on his roster right now.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Don't know if he has enough to scrimmage with as
- 7:51Speaker 1: he continues to try and add players. A & M
- 7:56Speaker 1: season starts November 3rd. Their exhibition game is in Dallas
- 8:02Speaker 1: Sunday afternoon against SMU. The World Series is set. I
- 8:10Speaker 1: doubt if Fox is happy. I know Major League Baseball
- 8:14Speaker 1: is unhappy because whatever happened to that buy your championship stuff?
- 8:20Speaker 1: Tampa Bay and Milwaukee are playing for a world championship.
- 8:27Speaker 1: The Rays eliminated Cleveland last night, the Indians slash Guardians.
- 8:34Speaker 1: The Brewers have been waiting, I don't know, the last month.
- 8:38Speaker 1: to start the World Series. It will start Friday night
- 8:42Speaker 1: in Milwaukee. Also, police in California are investigating the theft
- 8:52Speaker 1: of trading cards worth almost a million dollars taken from
- 8:58Speaker 1: a FedEx truck parked outside of a company that verifies memorabilia.
- 9:05Speaker 1: The truck was broken into Last week, near PSA, that's
- 9:10Speaker 1: Professional Sports Authenticator, where authorities say trading cards, autographs, comic books,
- 9:17Speaker 1: other memorabilia, they grade their condition. A Santa Ana Police
- 9:23Speaker 1: Department spokesman said in a news release, Pokemon and sports
- 9:28Speaker 1: cards were among the items stolen. The driver had left
- 9:33Speaker 1: the truck unattended. How long the driver was gone, part
- 9:39Speaker 1: of the investigation. The truck's lock was gone and two
- 9:43Speaker 1: pallets taken out of the truck. A third was disturbed,
- 9:50Speaker 1: meaning probably some things from that pallet were taken. The
- 9:53Speaker 1: estimated value, $ 963, 000. But the exact value of the items
- 10:02Speaker 1: have not yet been determined. Goodness gracious. So we got
- 10:08Speaker 1: that going on for us, which is not nice. Okay,
- 10:14Speaker 1: we're going to take a break. Scott Clendenin will be
- 10:18Speaker 1: with us tomorrow. We're going to hear from Kalen DeBoer
- 10:23Speaker 1: either tomorrow or Thursday. Next Tuesday, a week from today,
- 10:32Speaker 1: Big Bill O'Reilly joins me. His new book is called
- 10:36Speaker 1: Confronting America. Bill O'Reilly will be with me a week
- 10:42Speaker 1: from today. Okay, so phone the neighbors, wake the kids
- 10:46Speaker 1: on that one. Today... author Michael Starr, and his book
- 10:52Speaker 1: on Bob Newhart. We're going to hear from, oh, there's
- 10:57Speaker 1: Stephen A. Smith. He's at a basketball game. I bet
- 11:04Speaker 1: LeBron is playing if it's on ESPN, because ESPN is
- 11:08Speaker 1: the LeBron Network. Do you know LeBron is now 59
- 11:13Speaker 1: years old, still playing in the NBA? All right, we'll
- 11:16Speaker 1: take a break. This portion of the program is brought
- 11:19Speaker 1: to you by ANCO Insurance.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Anco Insurance is now a part of Hub International, bringing
- 11:25Speaker 3: you more choices, better value, and even greater expertise. While
- 11:29Speaker 3: our name has changed, we're still the same local team
- 11:31Speaker 3: you know and trust. Now with even more to offer,
- 11:34Speaker 3: from business insurance to personal protection and employee benefits, we're
- 11:37Speaker 3: still committed to protecting what matters most with the personalized
- 11:41Speaker 3: service you expect. Now with the strength of Hub International
- 11:44Speaker 3: behind us, more resources, more solutions, still your team. Anco Insurance,
- 11:48Speaker 3: a Hub International company, so you're ready for tomorrow.

- 12:17Speaker 4: design spend your aggie football saturdays here on the zone.
- 12:33Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 12:55Speaker 6: Remember when that used to be the song that's open
- 12:59Speaker 6: Monday night football?
- 13:01Speaker 1: Whatever happened to that?
- 13:03Speaker 4: That's been a while.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Stan looked at me like I'm crazy, like I don't
- 13:26Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about. All my rowdy friends, Hank Jr.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Welcome back. Thursday on the show, we've got the Clark
- 13:37Speaker 1: Eisenhower Outdoor Edition. We're going to be taking a float
- 13:41Speaker 1: trip down the Roaring Fork River. So that should be fun.
- 13:47Speaker 1: In fact, it was fun because it's on tape. I'm
- 13:51Speaker 1: not going to be doing it live from the Roaring Fork.
- 13:54Speaker 1: and a lot of active animals this week on the
- 13:59Speaker 1: Clark Eisenhower Outdoor Edition. On Friday, our cast of characters
- 14:07Speaker 1: that join us on Friday, Tony Catalina with our Aggie
- 14:10Speaker 1: football preview, and Kirk Bowles, our columnist from the Houston Chronicle,
- 14:17Speaker 1: follower of all things Longhorns and college football. I'm sure
- 14:21Speaker 1: everything is calm and collected over in Austin this week.
- 14:25Speaker 1: We'll talk to Kirk about that. Ryan Starr will be
- 14:30Speaker 1: back in the saddle on Friday. At least I think
- 14:33Speaker 1: he will. Yeah? Okay. Ryan will be back on Friday.
- 14:38Speaker 1: And I'm sure he'll have to tell some personal stories
- 14:43Speaker 1: about his trip to Houston to watch the Cougars play.
- 14:50Speaker 1: play this last Saturday night against Oklahoma State. That's a
- 14:54Speaker 1: heck of a football game. Not a lot of defense,
- 14:57Speaker 1: but if you like offense, that's a heck of a
- 15:00Speaker 1: football game. Okay, we're going to do this. We're going
- 15:05Speaker 1: to hear from Mike Elko. Every Monday at 1.30ish, we
- 15:10Speaker 1: carry Mike Elko live here on The Zone. He meets
- 15:14Speaker 1: with media, answers questions on Twitter. monday this is yesterday
- 15:20Speaker 1: we played part of it today we'll play another part of.
- 15:24Speaker 7: It mike jamari mentioned last week uh y'all have had
- 15:29Speaker 7: some players only meetings each of the last few weeks
- 15:32Speaker 7: uh what kind of started that what's your kind of
- 15:34Speaker 7: philosophy with those and what do you think you've your team's.
- 15:37Speaker 8: Gotten out of those yeah i think just just trying
- 15:39Speaker 8: to make sure everybody's on the same page i think
- 15:42Speaker 8: um Obviously, when things aren't going the way you want
- 15:46Speaker 8: them to go, you start having a lot of conversations
- 15:48Speaker 8: with the leadership group, the leadership parts of the team,
- 15:52Speaker 8: and trying to figure out just what can we do.
- 15:55Speaker 8: I think certainly on offense there was some conversation about
- 15:59Speaker 8: a lot of new faces having to gel and play together,
- 16:03Speaker 8: thinking there might be a benefit of them just getting
- 16:05Speaker 8: in a room together and talking things out without the
- 16:09Speaker 8: coaches there to kind of help them through things and
- 16:12Speaker 8: just letting them kind of sort through issues and solve
- 16:14Speaker 8: issues together. And so it's kind of where it started,
- 16:17Speaker 8: and it's kind of growing from there.
- 16:19Speaker 7: And how's Ashton doing, and do you have any update
- 16:22Speaker 7: on his status?
- 16:22Speaker 1: No, no update.
- 16:23Speaker 9: Okay.
- 16:25Speaker 10: We'll go to the second row.
- 16:27Speaker 11: Olin.
- 16:31Speaker 12: Yeah, Mike, first of all, how much progress do you
- 16:35Speaker 12: think you've seen in the defense over the last, say, month?
- 16:42Speaker 8: Yeah, I think that we had two bad games in
- 16:47Speaker 8: back-to-back weeks. I think outside of that, when we function
- 16:52Speaker 8: and play the way that we're capable of, we have
- 16:54Speaker 8: been a good unit. We've probably gotten a little bit
- 16:58Speaker 8: more consistent over the last couple weeks. That's obviously the
- 17:03Speaker 8: biggest thing with us on defense, has been going all
- 17:06Speaker 8: the way back, it seems like, for years. But I
- 17:11Speaker 8: do think when we play consistent the way we're capable of,
- 17:13Speaker 8: we have played pretty solid defense at times.
- 17:17Speaker 12: You mentioned the last couple weeks especially. How much Do
- 17:21Speaker 12: you think the play of the Colorado transfers has played
- 17:25Speaker 12: into that?
- 17:27Speaker 8: I think it's been good getting those guys healthy for sure.
- 17:30Speaker 8: I think they both have found ways to impact the game.
- 17:34Speaker 8: Brandon Davis Wayne was a kid that we had high
- 17:35Speaker 8: hopes and expectations for when we brought him in. He's
- 17:38Speaker 8: a bigger bodied kid and obviously having lost Tyler and Albert,
- 17:43Speaker 8: the need to get a bigger bodied kid in there
- 17:45Speaker 8: was important and you know not having him was impactful
- 17:49Speaker 8: for sure and so it's great to have him back
- 17:51Speaker 8: and healthy and playing the way we hoped he could
- 17:55Speaker 8: you know Tawfiq has a really good nose for the
- 17:57Speaker 8: football and a really good feel for downing the football
- 17:59Speaker 8: and so you know adding him into that safety mix
- 18:03Speaker 8: to be able to rotate and get take some reps
- 18:05Speaker 8: off some guys and obviously go out there and be
- 18:07Speaker 8: an explosive playmaker has been really good for us we'll
- 18:10Speaker 8: go to.
- 18:10Speaker 13: The back left Nick Hey, Mike, I'm just wondering, do
- 18:13Speaker 13: you have any type of relationship with Kalen DeBoer? And
- 18:15Speaker 13: from afar, just how would you evaluate how he's done
- 18:17Speaker 13: taking over a difficult task, taking over for a legend?
- 18:20Speaker 8: Yeah, I've got my own things to worry about. I
- 18:22Speaker 8: know him from afar. I don't know him really well,
- 18:25Speaker 8: and I certainly don't have a ton of evaluation from him.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Sounds good.
- 18:29Speaker 13: And to follow up with you on the backup offensive lineman,
- 18:32Speaker 13: what do you got to evaluate the tape? How do
- 18:35Speaker 13: you think they did? How do you think that group did?
- 18:36Speaker 13: Did anyone sort of stand out that you think would
- 18:38Speaker 13: provide more depth in the second half?
- 18:40Speaker 8: Yeah, I thought Zayden Krempen probably was the guy that
- 18:43Speaker 8: stood out the most of the guys who went in.
- 18:46Speaker 8: Ty Thomas, it was good to get him a bunch
- 18:48Speaker 8: of reps, too. He's a kid who has been teetering on,
- 18:51Speaker 8: playing some, not playing some. And so the more reps
- 18:54Speaker 8: we can get him, the better it is. And I
- 18:56Speaker 8: thought both of those guys stepped up and played well.
- 18:59Speaker 12: We'll go over to the right, second row, Peter.
- 19:02Speaker 14: Five years ago was the victory over number one Alabama here, 41-38. Obviously,
- 19:08Speaker 14: you have not been here for all 1,836 days since
- 19:11Speaker 14: that game. But reflecting on that moment, how would you
- 19:16Speaker 14: evaluate the trajectory of the program over those five years?
- 19:23Speaker 8: That's a challenging question. It's been up and down, I guess,
- 19:26Speaker 8: would be the right way to answer it. A lot
- 19:28Speaker 8: of it I wasn't here for, so I'm probably not
- 19:30Speaker 8: comfortable commenting on a lot of it.
- 19:32Speaker 14: More so from the excitement of that game, the excitement
- 19:36Speaker 14: of making the Coltswell playoff last year, how have you
- 19:40Speaker 14: seen the highs of the program showcased to the country,
- 19:43Speaker 14: what this place can be?
- 19:44Speaker 8: Yeah, again, I don't know how that relates to that game.
- 19:51Speaker 8: I think we, yeah, I don't know. I don't really
- 19:54Speaker 8: know how to answer that question. I'm sorry.
- 19:57Speaker 14: And then just going back to the 2014 playoff, you
- 19:59Speaker 14: talked about the pageantry of the regular season. How did
- 20:03Speaker 14: your experience playing at Penn, a school where until last
- 20:06Speaker 14: year in the Ivy League they were not doing any
- 20:08Speaker 14: postseason competition, influence how you view the importance and your
- 20:13Speaker 14: love of the regular season?
- 20:16Speaker 8: Probably not. I was on like punt team in college
- 20:19Speaker 8: and so. I don't draw much back to my college days.
- 20:24Speaker 8: I'm a college football fan, and so my feelings on
- 20:28Speaker 8: the 2014 playoff were driven around big rivalry weekends, games
- 20:34Speaker 8: that you always circled on the calendar, probably more so
- 20:37Speaker 8: than my playing days, honestly. It was those Saturdays when
- 20:40Speaker 8: you came back to watch the big games on TV afterwards,
- 20:43Speaker 8: in my opinion. Don't take any offense to that. Tell
- 20:45Speaker 8: my pen teammates and all. No, I just... I think
- 20:50Speaker 8: that so much of college football is about those really
- 20:53Speaker 8: meaningful games. It doesn't take hard to draw conclusions of
- 20:59Speaker 8: what those last games of the regular season will look
- 21:02Speaker 8: like if one team is clearly hosting a playoff game
- 21:06Speaker 8: and they're not playing for a conference championship because those
- 21:08Speaker 8: things don't really exist. You just worry about where this
- 21:11Speaker 8: thing could go. As you see what week 17 in
- 21:14Speaker 8: the NFL is like, you would hate for that to
- 21:18Speaker 8: become rivalry weekend in college football.
- 21:21Speaker 15: We'll stay on the right, first row, Travis.
- 21:23Speaker 13: Mike, with the guys that were out, anybody you're expecting
- 21:26Speaker 13: for long-term?
- 21:27Speaker 8: Yeah, we'll wait until the injury report comes out on Wednesday.
- 21:34Speaker 15: Go to the first row on the left, Tony.
- 21:38Speaker 8: Oh, that's Rob.
- 21:40Speaker 16: That's tony we get a chance to talk to des
- 21:43Speaker 16: ricks tomorrow uh just what have you seen from his
- 21:46Speaker 16: maturation just as a player as a person now he's
- 21:48Speaker 16: kind of been a stalwart and a leader in that secondary.
- 21:51Speaker 8: Yeah again i think um it's been an interesting year
- 21:54Speaker 8: at times for for him because there's been some weeks
- 21:57Speaker 8: where where there just hasn't been the ball in the
- 21:59Speaker 8: air very much it feels like we're defending the run
- 22:02Speaker 8: a lot more than we're defending the pass just over
- 22:04Speaker 8: the course of the season and um you know so
- 22:07Speaker 8: so I think he'll probably be looking forward to this
- 22:10Speaker 8: week getting into a challenge against a full field passing
- 22:13Speaker 8: game a team that's going to really put the ball
- 22:15Speaker 8: in the air quite a bit and so um it'll
- 22:17Speaker 8: be a really big challenge for him and you know
- 22:19Speaker 8: obviously I think his his growth has been huge I
- 22:22Speaker 8: think you know coming here as a young kid who
- 22:23Speaker 8: hadn't played a ton of football and you know getting
- 22:26Speaker 8: thrust on the scene as a redshirt freshman and playing
- 22:28Speaker 8: a lot and a little bit up and down to
- 22:30Speaker 8: last year where he became a much more steady player
- 22:33Speaker 8: to this year where I think he's playing so far
- 22:35Speaker 8: pretty good football and obviously some big challenges down the
- 22:39Speaker 8: road for him.
- 22:39Speaker 3: We'll stay on the left, fourth row, Rob.
- 22:43Speaker 17: Howdy, Coach.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Howdy.
- 22:45Speaker 18: So having watched lots of games in Tuscaloosa, sometimes I
- 22:48Speaker 18: describe it as the opponent is playing uphill as they
- 22:52Speaker 18: are playing downhill, and you even mentioned when something happens
- 22:55Speaker 18: and they start rolling, how do you kind of prepare
- 22:59Speaker 18: your team during the week to, like, when something, instead
- 23:04Speaker 18: of letting it build on one, how do you kind
- 23:06Speaker 18: of prepare your team for that to be able to
- 23:08Speaker 18: stop that rolling tide?
- 23:10Speaker 8: Yeah, I think you just grow on past experiences. You know,
- 23:13Speaker 8: I think, again, this team has been through, some challenging
- 23:16Speaker 8: road environments, through some ups and downs where we were
- 23:19Speaker 8: able to come away with victories, through emotional games where
- 23:23Speaker 8: we didn't get the job done but played back and
- 23:25Speaker 8: forth football going back all the way to the first year.
- 23:27Speaker 8: And so I think you're just drawing back on experiences
- 23:30Speaker 8: of what it actually feels like and takes to go
- 23:32Speaker 8: on the road in this conference and be successful.
- 23:35Speaker 5: We'll go to the second row on the left.
- 23:36Speaker 17: Alex.
- 23:37Speaker 13: Not to interrupt.
- 23:38Speaker 10: Dilute into the playoff more. I'm just curious, though, was
- 23:42Speaker 10: there a team or a school that you grew up
- 23:44Speaker 10: really watching from up in New Jersey, and was there
- 23:46Speaker 10: a rivalry game that you maybe remember circling yourself that
- 23:50Speaker 10: you enjoyed watching growing up?
- 23:52Speaker 8: There's zero chance I'm putting that on the record. I'm
- 23:54Speaker 8: going to keep that one to myself.
- 23:57Speaker 10: Fair enough. I'm curious, too. You talked about how when
- 24:03Speaker 10: guys go home to their home state, maybe that means
- 24:05Speaker 10: a little bit more to them. When you got guys
- 24:07Speaker 10: maybe like T.K., or Wilkin, who grew up in Northport,
- 24:11Speaker 10: what do you tell them to maybe not let the
- 24:13Speaker 10: emotion in that moment get too much for them?
- 24:16Speaker 8: Yeah, you're just talking about at the end of the
- 24:18Speaker 8: day you've got to play football, right? And that's the
- 24:20Speaker 8: most important thing. I think they have to experience that
- 24:25Speaker 8: every week to some degree. I just think it is.
- 24:28Speaker 8: It's just always a little bit special when you're returning home.
- 24:31Speaker 8: There's usually more family. There's more ticket requests. There's more
- 24:33Speaker 8: people there watching you. I just feel like those games
- 24:36Speaker 8: are a little bit more meaningful for guys. Back over
- 24:39Speaker 8: to the right, first row, Carter.
- 24:41Speaker 7: Mike, what do you think has held back the pass
- 24:43Speaker 7: rush at times this season, and what's the key when
- 24:46Speaker 7: you face a quarterback like Russell with them?
- 24:48Speaker 8: Yeah, I think we've got to find ways to become disruptive.
- 24:53Speaker 8: That's a big part of it. Again, I think we
- 24:56Speaker 8: created a lot more opportunities to do it last year.
- 25:00Speaker 8: There's a lot that goes into that. Part of that
- 25:02Speaker 8: is the pass rush on early downs can create more
- 25:05Speaker 8: third downs to stay in. And so there's certainly some
- 25:08Speaker 8: of it that's just on the pass rush alone, but
- 25:10Speaker 8: I think some other factors also, but like, um, you know,
- 25:13Speaker 8: we've got to just continue to find ways to get creative,
- 25:16Speaker 8: disrupting the quarterback. I think that's really, really important with
- 25:19Speaker 8: how the game unfolds and, you know, game control plays
- 25:22Speaker 8: a huge role in it too. I think that's a
- 25:23Speaker 8: big piece of it.
- 25:25Speaker 3: We'll stay on the right.
- 25:26Speaker 19: First row, Travis.
- 25:28Speaker 8: Noah McHale has a pretty unique, um, family heritage.
- 25:32Speaker 10: Um, have you seen that, you know, how have you
- 25:35Speaker 10: seen that maybe affect or come out in who he
- 25:38Speaker 10: is as a person?
- 25:40Speaker 8: Yeah, I just think he's a kid that was raised
- 25:42Speaker 8: really well. He's got a phenomenal family. You know, we
- 25:45Speaker 8: talked a little bit about him being a kid who
- 25:47Speaker 8: really fit this program from day one, and I just
- 25:50Speaker 8: think he's a really, really special kid who was raised
- 25:53Speaker 8: the right way, who stands for all of the right things, and,
- 25:55Speaker 8: you know, it's not my place to say what part
- 25:58Speaker 8: of that comes from his heritage, but I do think
- 26:00Speaker 8: he was raised really, really well, and I know he's
- 26:03Speaker 8: really proud of his heritage and proud of his family.
- 26:06Speaker 7: We'll go to the third row on the right.
- 26:09Speaker 20: Coach, we saw a couple younger players really start to
- 26:12Speaker 20: explode this past week.
- 26:13Speaker 14: How does that energy shift things during practice and during games?
- 26:16Speaker 8: Yeah, I just think we have some talented freshmen that
- 26:21Speaker 8: are really starting to get a little bit more comfortable,
- 26:24Speaker 8: a little bit more situated, and are earning more and
- 26:27Speaker 8: more opportunities. Obviously, at times, that's a daunting thing because
- 26:32Speaker 8: you don't want a ton of freshmen running around there,
- 26:34Speaker 8: but obviously, it's also a promising thing, too. It's a
- 26:37Speaker 8: great opportunity for those kids to go out there and
- 26:39Speaker 8: continue to grow and develop. They've got a ton of energy.
- 26:42Speaker 8: They've got a ton of energy at practice. I think
- 26:44Speaker 8: it's starting to translate into the games and Obviously, as
- 26:47Speaker 8: the competition level increases like it will this week, the
- 26:51Speaker 8: ability to continue to play at that level is going
- 26:52Speaker 8: to be really, really important.
- 26:53Speaker 1: All right, that's Coach Elko yesterday. And we're going to
- 27:02Speaker 1: hear from Micah Riley coming up. We've got a high
- 27:07Speaker 1: school report coming up. We've got author Michael Starr. And
- 27:12Speaker 1: Mallory is here with some entertainment news coming up. Ross
- 27:16Speaker 1: Dellinger has another story on LSU. We were just talking
- 27:19Speaker 1: about Will Wade. And the battle continues. Attorney General Elizabeth Murrell.
- 27:29Speaker 1: This is the Attorney General of the state of Louisiana writing.
- 27:33Speaker 1: So obvious is the case for dismissal that the SEC
- 27:38Speaker 1: throws a Hail Mary. New and demonstrably false claims. that
- 27:45Speaker 1: the LSU men's basketball program is violating SEC rules. Enough
- 27:53Speaker 1: is enough. It's unclear why the SEC has not dismissed
- 27:59Speaker 1: this case. They've abandoned its request for preliminary relief because
- 28:04Speaker 1: it conceitedly faces no harm at this time. It has
- 28:09Speaker 1: abandoned its core allegations that LSU would include two former
- 28:12Speaker 1: professional athletes on its football roster and block or interfere
- 28:18Speaker 1: with the September 10th meeting. The SEC claims the right
- 28:22Speaker 1: to terminate LSU's membership in the conference, so there is
- 28:27Speaker 1: no compelled association. This is a lot of lawyer talk.
- 28:31Speaker 1: So obvious is the case. And then that's when she
- 28:34Speaker 1: says they throw the new Hail Mary. There is no
- 28:37Speaker 1: good reason to waste this court's time and resources. The
- 28:42Speaker 1: court should summarily dismiss the SEC's complaint without prejudice to
- 28:47Speaker 1: the SEC's ability to file a real case. So there's
- 28:54Speaker 1: still friction. There's still legalities happening. Will Wade is still
- 29:02Speaker 1: challenging things. Uh, Kansas has added a player. A &
- 29:12Speaker 1: M has gotten a temporary injunction, which is a notch
- 29:19Speaker 1: above a restraining order. That was just announced and reported
- 29:24Speaker 1: by Texags for Jordan Pope, the transfer from Texas. The
- 29:34Speaker 1: NCAA could... Uh, go back to court before the season
- 29:45Speaker 1: is over to get the injunction dismissed. But apparently Pope
- 29:55Speaker 1: will play. He did not play in the scrimmage last week,
- 30:02Speaker 1: according to Bucky. Neither did Ryland Griffin, who is still waiting.
- 30:12Speaker 1: So all of this court stuff is not finished yet.
- 30:16Speaker 1: It's resurfacing because of basketball, honestly, which has always been
- 30:23Speaker 1: the dirtiest of sports. Even when paying players wasn't really legal,
- 30:34Speaker 1: basketball has been the most troubling, for sure. And it's
- 30:40Speaker 1: not a surprise that we're getting all of these stories
- 30:44Speaker 1: and all of these injunctions and temporary restraining orders with
- 30:50Speaker 1: players who have already played their five years or or
- 30:54Speaker 1: have reasons why they weren't able to play their five
- 30:58Speaker 1: years and trying to get a sixth year. And some
- 31:01Speaker 1: cases is seventh year. I was watching football on Saturday
- 31:05Speaker 1: and some guys like 25, he's played for seven teams.
- 31:10Speaker 1: This has been going on like eight, eight years. I
- 31:14Speaker 1: forget who that was, but, but he was, I think
- 31:17Speaker 1: the second oldest player. It's, it's pretty incredible. Um, all
- 31:24Speaker 1: this stuff that's continuing to happen. I mean, we're not
- 31:28Speaker 1: done with any of it by any stretch of the imagination.
- 31:36Speaker 1: And then Bill Self announcing that Trey Kaufman-Wren has been
- 31:42Speaker 1: added to the Kansas class. He was drafted, albeit in
- 31:48Speaker 1: the second round. He did not sign. redshirted his freshman
- 31:58Speaker 1: year due to injury, filed a lawsuit seeking a sixth season,
- 32:04Speaker 1: arguing his redshirt year would allow him to play a
- 32:12Speaker 1: fifth season, and Bill Self being Bill Self, and Bill
- 32:16Speaker 1: Self needs help. And Dollar Bill is going to continue
- 32:22Speaker 1: to do what he has to do to try to
- 32:25Speaker 1: finish on top at Kansas because the direction they're headed
- 32:29Speaker 1: is not Kansas, basically. And I don't think Self wants–
- 32:36Speaker 1: I know Self doesn't want to go out like that. Hey,

- 34:08Speaker 21: This is C & J Barbecue.
- 34:11Speaker 6: Okay, so for the ad, I'm thinking fog machines, laser lights,
- 34:15Speaker 6: maybe a.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Do kids eat free?
- 34:17Speaker 1: Uh, yes. Like, actually free? Yes, every Wednesday night. So
- 34:21Speaker 1: I can get free barbecue? That's how kids eat free works, buddy.
- 34:25Speaker 5: Wednesday's my favorite day now!
- 34:27Speaker 12: See?
- 34:27Speaker 4: No fog machine needed.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 34:30Speaker 21: Kids eat free every Wednesday night at C & J Barbecue.
- 34:33Speaker 5: Great food, happy kids, C & J Barbecue. Because dinner
- 34:36Speaker 5: shouldn't be another battle.
- 34:39Speaker 11: The Louie Bellina Show, presented by CC Electric.
- 34:42Speaker 4: Well, we keep hearing that this year he has more
- 34:45Speaker 4: Buckyball players, so we're going to see more of what
- 34:48Speaker 4: Buckyball means. Why don't you tell us what that means,
- 34:51Speaker 4: that we're going.
- 34:51Speaker 5: To see more Buckyball?
- 34:53Speaker 1: Lou, I don't want to jinx it, but they have shooters.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Jinx it, jinx it. They have shooters.
- 34:56Speaker 9: They have guys that can knock down shots. And I'm
- 35:00Speaker 9: not talking about they had to be set shots and
- 35:03Speaker 9: they can't be guarded. I'm talking about, they have guys that,
- 35:06Speaker 9: that can go make a play. Now they have guys
- 35:08Speaker 9: that can catch and shoot from anywhere on the court.
- 35:12Speaker 1: You know, it's funny.
- 35:13Speaker 9: The other day I was, I was in the practice
- 35:14Speaker 9: gym and I'm looking at the lines that they have,
- 35:18Speaker 9: the taped lines.
- 35:19Speaker 1: On the court.
- 35:20Speaker 9: And I'm standing behind the furthest three point line. That
- 35:23Speaker 9: is the NBA line. And it is about four inches
- 35:29Speaker 9: from the logo at half court.
- 35:31Speaker 1: And I'm just like, What? This is.
- 35:33Speaker 12: Hang out with Louie.
- 35:34Speaker 11: Weekdays 11 to 2 on the Zone 1150 AM and 93.7 FM.
- 35:38Speaker 11: What a beautiful mansion he built you.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Splendor, Lord, you've got it wall to wall.
- 35:57Speaker 15: Welcome into the High School Report. I'm Caleb Rapley, and
- 35:59Speaker 15: today we are jumping out to the Polaris Fun Center
- 36:01Speaker 15: phone line to visit with the head coach of the
- 36:04Speaker 15: Brazos Christian Eagles football team, Mr. Jordan Black. Coach, thanks
- 36:08Speaker 15: for joining me today.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Glad to be here. Glad to have you.
- 36:13Speaker 15: A very successful season for your Eagles so far. Last
- 36:16Speaker 15: time we talked was preseason, but, you know, into week
- 36:19Speaker 15: nine or week 10, I believe, of the season now,
- 36:22Speaker 15: and your Eagles sitting at seven and one on the season.
- 36:25Speaker 15: So what have been some keys to this success that
- 36:28Speaker 15: you've had so far this year?
- 36:30Speaker 22: Well, I mean, I think it's always easier to be
- 36:34Speaker 22: successful when you have talent, and I think we kind
- 36:36Speaker 22: of have a surplus of talent at the moment. We've
- 36:38Speaker 22: got a fantastic senior class. They've invested a lot. They've
- 36:43Speaker 22: worked really hard. So whenever you have kids that are
- 36:47Speaker 22: willing to put in the work and are talented, you know,
- 36:50Speaker 22: it makes things a little bit easier.
- 36:52Speaker 15: Yeah, so like you mentioned, very experienced team from last
- 36:56Speaker 15: year's state championship runner-up went 12 and 1 and only
- 37:00Speaker 15: lost a few starters on each side of the ball
- 37:04Speaker 15: I think it was five or four starters on offense
- 37:07Speaker 15: and two on defense that graduated so very experienced team
- 37:11Speaker 15: but you know with a little bit of a heavier
- 37:14Speaker 15: senior class this year does that put more pressure on
- 37:17Speaker 15: you as a coach to make the most out of
- 37:19Speaker 15: that talent.
- 37:20Speaker 22: Well, now that I think about it, no, I mean,
- 37:23Speaker 22: it really doesn't. And I mean, I try to be
- 37:29Speaker 22: as consistent as I possibly can as a coach.
- 37:32Speaker 1: So I.
- 37:35Speaker 22: Believe that if you prepare the right way, you shouldn't
- 37:42Speaker 22: really feel that pressure. You should just be so consistent that...
- 37:47Speaker 22: that there's no room for pressure because you're simply just
- 37:51Speaker 22: doing what you're supposed to do and the results will
- 37:53Speaker 22: take care of itself.
- 37:55Speaker 15: So one player that wasn't a returning starter for you
- 38:00Speaker 15: as your quarterback, Cooper Murr, but he has performed very
- 38:04Speaker 15: well across these seven games and hasn't had to do
- 38:07Speaker 15: too much through the passing game, but has had a
- 38:11Speaker 15: lot of success when he's been called upon to do so.
- 38:14Speaker 15: So how much of a strength has that been for
- 38:16Speaker 15: your team to have a quarterback like that that you
- 38:18Speaker 15: can really lean on?
- 38:20Speaker 22: Well, that's been great. I think last week really showed
- 38:27Speaker 22: his value. I mean, we go to Bay Area, and
- 38:31Speaker 22: that weather system that came through, we had 25-plus mile-an-hour
- 38:37Speaker 22: gusts throughout the game. And, I mean... The wind will
- 38:42Speaker 22: take the ball, and it's just really hard to throw it.
- 38:46Speaker 22: We ended up pretty much just ground and pound the
- 38:49Speaker 22: whole game, and when you have a quarterback that can run,
- 38:53Speaker 22: it just makes that a whole lot easier. So it's
- 38:58Speaker 22: really been a blessing to have Cooper, to have an
- 39:03Speaker 22: athletic quarterback. You know, sometimes a team will cover you well, but...
- 39:10Speaker 22: they can't always account for the legs of the QB.
- 39:14Speaker 22: So that's, that's been very nice. And it just made
- 39:18Speaker 22: the transition a whole lot easier for us. Yeah.
- 39:22Speaker 15: So one reason that you haven't had to lean too
- 39:25Speaker 15: much on him is the deep stable of running backs
- 39:27Speaker 15: that you've been able to go to this year between
- 39:30Speaker 15: Reed Jackson, Slayton Caffey, Braden Hickerson, and Carson Ramsey. Those
- 39:35Speaker 15: four players, which have got a pretty even amount of
- 39:38Speaker 15: playing time. I don't know if I'd say there's one
- 39:40Speaker 15: that's got a much higher workload than the rest of them,
- 39:43Speaker 15: but between those four players, they're averaging over 10 yards
- 39:45Speaker 15: a carry.
- 39:46Speaker 1: So it's a pretty.
- 39:49Speaker 15: Pretty big strength for your team, and I'm guessing that
- 39:52Speaker 15: not only has to do with the talent of those backs,
- 39:55Speaker 15: but also your offensive line.
- 39:58Speaker 22: Yeah, for sure. And I will say, you know, you mentioned...
- 40:03Speaker 22: Slayton Reed and Braden, you know, they, they are the
- 40:07Speaker 22: true tailback types. And then Carson does get a lot
- 40:11Speaker 22: of carries, but that's usually, you know, we'll, we'll put
- 40:14Speaker 22: them in motion and things like that. And he'll get
- 40:17Speaker 22: carries from the wide receiver position. But yeah, I mean,
- 40:21Speaker 22: it's a combination of things. Each three of those tailbacks
- 40:25Speaker 22: are all, they bring something different to the table, whether
- 40:29Speaker 22: it's blocking, whether it's, You know, whether it's the vision
- 40:35Speaker 22: of a zone runner or the straight ahead, hard running
- 40:41Speaker 22: in gap scheme plays, they all have something unique. And
- 40:47Speaker 22: we all try to utilize it. utilize them accordingly. And
- 40:51Speaker 22: it's just really nice. You know, you can put a
- 40:54Speaker 22: guy in for a drive, get him a blow, roll
- 40:58Speaker 22: another one in, and you don't skip a beat. So
- 41:01Speaker 22: that's been fantastic. And the offensive line is very experienced.
- 41:07Speaker 22: They're very coachable. And their overall situational awareness and being
- 41:14Speaker 22: able to identify defensive fronts and stuff has just gotten–
- 41:18Speaker 22: they're actually surprising me at this point. So the overall
- 41:22Speaker 22: maturity and toughness of all parties involved is really manifesting
- 41:27Speaker 22: right now.
- 41:29Speaker 15: So we've talked plenty about the offense, but the defense
- 41:32Speaker 15: has also been very solid for the Eagles just two
- 41:37Speaker 15: games where the defense has allowed over 20 points. So
- 41:40Speaker 15: who are some of the players that have stood out
- 41:42Speaker 15: on defense and are really leading that group?
- 41:45Speaker 22: Kind of like on offense. It's a, it's a host of,
- 41:49Speaker 22: of players. I mean, I'll point out Reed Jackson, you know,
- 41:55Speaker 22: as far as coverage goes he's, he's a secondary player.
- 42:00Speaker 22: That's always going to be there to deliver a big hit.
- 42:04Speaker 22: in the run game to maybe pick off, pick off
- 42:08Speaker 22: a pass and just a momentum swing type of guy.
- 42:14Speaker 22: Clark Palomo had a three interception game one week. You know,
- 42:21Speaker 22: the same thing with, with Slayton Caffey, with Landon Sands.
- 42:27Speaker 22: It's like each one is having a good game, an
- 42:31Speaker 22: exceptional game.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Each week.
- 42:35Speaker 22: So they're all doing something special and it's almost like
- 42:38Speaker 22: they're taking turns, not to say that when one plays
- 42:41Speaker 22: really well, another one doesn't. I mean, they're all playing
- 42:45Speaker 22: really well. It's just different players have, have big games
- 42:49Speaker 22: on different nights. So, um, I think it's just one
- 42:52Speaker 22: of those situations where, you know, competition is contagious and
- 42:56Speaker 22: they're all trying to one up each other. And, um,
- 42:59Speaker 22: each week they try to, uh, kind of up, up
- 43:04Speaker 22: their game and, and it's showing, um, as far as,
- 43:10Speaker 22: you know, who, who are some contributors? I mean, we,
- 43:13Speaker 22: we've got a, we've got a pass rush that's, that's
- 43:18Speaker 22: consistently a threat to the quarterback. And you can tell teams, uh,
- 43:23Speaker 22: how they game plan against our pass rush, uh, you know,
- 43:27Speaker 22: against that defensive end Hunter black, um, uh, We also
- 43:32Speaker 22: moved a linebacker, Ty Urban, from the linebacker position to
- 43:36Speaker 22: the end, and he's done a remarkable job stopping the run,
- 43:41Speaker 22: and he's been an effective pass rusher as well. And
- 43:43Speaker 22: obviously Jack Williams, kind of a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. They've been
- 43:51Speaker 22: playing really well, and I'm proud of them, and hope
- 43:56Speaker 22: we can make the most of it.
- 43:58Speaker 15: So this is the Eagles' first year in taps division
- 44:02Speaker 15: three after moving up from division four last year so
- 44:05Speaker 15: it's a little bit of a different landscape as far
- 44:07Speaker 15: as who you're matching up with in district play um
- 44:10Speaker 15: but you know hasn't had too much of an impact
- 44:12Speaker 15: on the results undefeated in district play so far this
- 44:15Speaker 15: year you know what are your thoughts on being in
- 44:18Speaker 15: this higher division how different is the competition.
- 44:21Speaker 22: Uh you you can definitely you can you can tell
- 44:24Speaker 22: a difference and you know i i know that some
- 44:28Speaker 22: of the scores haven't been you know, it doesn't necessarily
- 44:32Speaker 22: look like it's been a ball game, but it definitely
- 44:35Speaker 22: feels different. I think quite a few games in district
- 44:39Speaker 22: play have been much tighter by the time you get
- 44:41Speaker 22: to halftime. Um, and you know, it hasn't felt like
- 44:48Speaker 22: it hasn't necessarily felt like it's been a cakewalk. And
- 44:51Speaker 22: I know that it will really, it will really show
- 44:54Speaker 22: by the time we get to playoffs with a, uh,
- 44:58Speaker 22: a smaller playoff pool this year, and more talent. So
- 45:02Speaker 22: each playoff game that we play is going to be
- 45:05Speaker 22: very challenging, and ultimately you're going to have to beat
- 45:08Speaker 22: a good team if you want to win a state championship.
- 45:11Speaker 15: This Friday, playing your final home game of the season,
- 45:15Speaker 15: taking on New Braunfels Christian Academy. The Wildcats sitting at
- 45:19Speaker 15: 6-2 on the season. What do you expect to see
- 45:21Speaker 15: from them?
- 45:23Speaker 22: I think they're going to give us their best shot.
- 45:26Speaker 22: We're in a situation right now where there's potentially a
- 45:32Speaker 22: number two playoff seed on the line. Now, as far
- 45:35Speaker 22: as we're concerned, we wrapped up the number one seed
- 45:38Speaker 22: last week, but a loss would.
- 45:44Speaker 22: A loss would make us tied for a district championship,
- 45:48Speaker 22: but we would retain the number one seed. But a
- 45:52Speaker 22: win is also an outright district championship for us. So,
- 45:57Speaker 22: you know, this is an important game for us. It's
- 46:00Speaker 22: a very important game for New Braunfels because there are
- 46:05Speaker 22: playoff implications for both of us.
- 46:09Speaker 15: So outside of, you know, what it means as far
- 46:12Speaker 15: as the playoff race goes, This being the final home
- 46:15Speaker 15: game for all of these seniors, and again, pretty heavy
- 46:18Speaker 15: senior class. They've contributed a lot to this football team,
- 46:21Speaker 15: not only this year, but all the years that they've
- 46:24Speaker 15: been a part of this program. How much does it
- 46:25Speaker 15: mean to them and to you to have this final
- 46:28Speaker 15: home game?
- 46:29Speaker 22: Well, that's something that I preach to them all the time.
- 46:35Speaker 22: I mean, somebody like me that has... played all of
- 46:40Speaker 22: their football, you know, hindsight is 2020. You can look
- 46:44Speaker 22: back and you, you understand how meaningful it was, how
- 46:47Speaker 22: significant it was. And I just tried to, to teach
- 46:52Speaker 22: our players that, you know, to kind of have that,
- 46:56Speaker 22: perspective on things um you know it's really easy as
- 47:01Speaker 22: a young kid to walk out to practice not look
- 47:04Speaker 22: forward to it and lose an opportunity to become better
- 47:08Speaker 22: but when you have that mindset of truly understanding how
- 47:11Speaker 22: important it is um not just to win a game
- 47:14Speaker 22: but the character development and all the good stuff that
- 47:16Speaker 22: comes with football if you can teach them to see
- 47:19Speaker 22: that way um I think the chances of them taking
- 47:24Speaker 22: a game for granted drop significantly. So that's my hope
- 47:28Speaker 22: is that they understand how special each opportunity is and
- 47:32Speaker 22: they just take full advantage of it.
- 47:34Speaker 15: All right, Coach, well, I appreciate your time today. Good
- 47:37Speaker 15: luck the rest of the season to your Eagles.
- 47:40Speaker 22: Of course. Thank you.

- 49:54Speaker 24: The Houston Texans are hoping to salvage the season now
- 49:58Speaker 24: after back-to-back wins over divisional opponents is a great way
- 50:00Speaker 24: to respond after the four straight losses. The Texans offense
- 50:03Speaker 24: has been the star of the show over the past
- 50:05Speaker 24: two weeks as 26 points dominated the Titans and 34
- 50:08Speaker 24: points was just enough to take down the Jaguars. Now
- 50:10Speaker 24: Houston's offense will be getting another piece back as head
- 50:12Speaker 24: coach D'Amico Ryans confirmed yesterday that wideout Tank Dell will
- 50:15Speaker 24: be returning this weekend against the Giants. Dell has been
- 50:18Speaker 24: sidelined since the 2024 season with a major knee injury
- 50:21Speaker 24: and his return makes the Texans wide receiver room seemed
- 50:23Speaker 24: quite daunting to opposing defenses led by Nico Collins and
- 50:26Speaker 24: now Marvin Harrison Jr. Here's Coach Ryans on how he's
- 50:29Speaker 24: approaching Tank's return from the coaching perspective.
- 50:31Speaker 25: No huge expectations from what he needs to do. I mean,
- 50:35Speaker 25: we're all just going to be excited. No, me personally,
- 50:37Speaker 25: I'm just going to be excited to see him. Just
- 50:39Speaker 25: out there for the first time in over two years
- 50:42Speaker 25: is getting some game action. So I'm just thankful, grateful
- 50:45Speaker 25: for him to have this opportunity to return.
- 50:48Speaker 24: Kickoff between the Texans and Giants is set for noon
- 50:50Speaker 24: on Sunday. With your Houston Texans report, I'm Jett Nelson.

- 53:08Speaker 1: ten games we have this week. Our tiebreaker game is

- 53:18Speaker 1: Georgetown and A & M consolidated. A & M at Alabama,
- 53:22Speaker 1: Ole Miss at Texas, LSU at Auburn, Indiana, Michigan, Army,
- 53:29Speaker 1: and Tulsa. The Giants and the Texans and the Cowboys
- 53:37Speaker 1: and the Eagles. Those are the 10 games we're picking
- 53:42Speaker 1: this week. I'm amazed from week to week at some
- 53:47Speaker 1: of you people. You're just either really good at guessing
- 53:52Speaker 1: and very lucky. But the good ones, they hang in
- 53:57Speaker 1: all year long. And the cream always rises to the top,
- 54:03Speaker 1: which it's beginning to do. We have three tied for
- 54:06Speaker 1: first place right now. Make your picks. 5 o'clock Friday
- 54:11Speaker 1: is the deadline. Friday's Fearless Football Forecast Contest, a division
- 54:17Speaker 1: of Sports Talk, America's most loved football pick-em contest, presented
- 54:23Speaker 1: each week by Zwirneman Flooring and Chad Jones-Law. It was
- 54:31Speaker 1: so close. I had a terrible week last week. Just terrible.
- 54:35Speaker 8: In fact.
- 54:36Speaker 1: I've had two terrible weeks in a row. That has
- 54:41Speaker 1: to stop. You know, I had that 9-1 week, and
- 54:45Speaker 1: a lot of people did well because obviously most of
- 54:47Speaker 1: the favorites won that week. And the last two weeks, well,
- 54:51Speaker 1: the last two weeks have been difficult, at least on me.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Not on some of you, but my gosh, picking these games.
- 55:06Speaker 1: I'm probably spending too much time and effort. I probably
- 55:10Speaker 1: should spend less time and less effort and do much better.
- 55:18Speaker 1: I'm doing the Prague poll and the Eagle as well,
- 55:21Speaker 1: and that's personal because there's a couple of people I
- 55:25Speaker 1: must beat. Other than that, I don't really care. I've
- 55:29Speaker 1: won enough to establish my picking prowess over the years, okay?
- 55:34Speaker 1: I don't know how many times it's been a bunch,
- 55:37Speaker 1: but there's just a couple of people that I have
- 55:40Speaker 1: to beat, Crystal. Marblecraft, locally owned, operated for over 25 years.
