- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Hey everyone, welcome back to the Beyond Limits podcast.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: We are diving into today how to level up so fast they don't recognize you.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And there's a kind of level up that doesn't look gradual, right?
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: It doesn't look like progress, it doesn't look like things improved.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: It almost looks like disappearance, right?
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: People will say things like, you've changed, I barely recognize you, or you're not who you used to be.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: And what they're actually noticing is not a personality shift, but a nervous system shift.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Because when identity updates at a neurological level, right?
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: At a nervous system level, change happens fast and it's irreversible.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: And this has happened with so many clients.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: I've even had people tell me, like, Liv, like you look different, like your face looks different.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: You might actually see like shape shifting, right?
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: When you change identities.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: I guarantee, even right now, if you were to look at, you know, pictures of you now versus five years ago, you would see a difference.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: But it's the same thing, except it doesn't take five years.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: It takes, you know, five weeks, five minutes, five days.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: It just takes a rapidly shorter amount of time.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: So that is what we are diving into today.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Most people think that identity lives in mindset, but it does not.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Your identity lives in the nervous system's default mode network, right?
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Or your DMN.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: This default mode, or I'll just call it default mode for the time being, is a network of different brain regions that activate when you are not focused on a task, right?
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: So it's responsible for your sense of self, right?
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: The personal narrative you have, right?
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Which is like the narrative you have around your mind and who you believe yourself to be.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: It is that, you know, who I am, it's your identity.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: And wrapped up in that identity is also what's normal for you and what you do in certain situations, right?
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: So think about your default mode as your identity autopilot, right?
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: That's why it's called default mode.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: It is the autopilot, it is the default mode of your identity.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: And unless that network updates, your life won't either.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: And this is why so many people decide to change, but don't actually change, right?
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: They could change their routine, they can change their goals, they can change their behavior, right?
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: And at the time of recording this, it's early 2026, right?
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: We're in the new year.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: You're probably changing your behavior, your goals, even your morning routine, your night routine, what you eat for lunch, whatever.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: And those things are important, but they don't actually decide the change.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: If you do not update your default mode network, right?
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: Your default mode, your nervous system keeps referencing that old identity, right?
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Even if you change the goals, the routines, the behavior.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: And this is why eventually, always, the system will pull you back to the baseline.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: And I guarantee you have examples of this, whether it's in yourself or in other people, where you kind of do something different for a period of time, but then you fall back off, right?
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: Maybe you set a new year's resolution or something and you end up going back to the old, right?
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: I don't know, you lose weight and then you put it back on.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: You make a little bit more money and then you go back to the old.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: You put the new routine, but then you go back to your old one.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: It just doesn't last, not because you lack discipline, not because you're inconsistent, but because your brain is designed to preserve identity first.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: So you're probably thinking, okay, Liv, I need to change my identity at the default level.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: How do I do that?
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: So real identity change happens when the nervous system recodes what feels familiar, right?
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: So your default mode updates through repetition paired with safety.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Number one, this is important because I'm not just saying repetition, repetition with safety.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: You need both.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Most women can do repetition to a certain degree for a certain amount of time, right?
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: They can, I don't know, do the tapping, they can do the affirming, the visualizing, the journaling, the workout, the colostrum, the, I don't know, what's the latest trendy thing on TikTok?
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: Whatever it is, as you can see.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: They can do that, but that's not enough.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: We need to pair that with safety in your system.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: So that's number one.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: It also updates through emotional significance.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: Now, this is important.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: When I say emotional significance, I do not mean feeling the feelings as if it's actually there.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: I don't mean creating heightened experiences in the body that are actually dysregulating, right?
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Emotional significance is this feels significant enough to the default mode to update, but it feels safe enough at the same time.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Third thing is embodied experience, right?
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: And so there's a difference to your default mode network between experience and embodied experience, right?
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Embodied experience means that when the situation arises and it requires a new identity of you to actually show up, you do that, right?
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Because it is very easy to show up as that identity in the easy surface level ways.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: And I say that because five years ago I used to teach, you know, drink the almond milk she drinks, you know, buy the meat she would eat, you know, go to the hotel.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Those are all great.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: They are surface level, they will shift somewhat, but it won't embody it into your default mode.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: And so this is where I really started asking questions years ago of like, all right, well, why are so many people visualizing and, you know, wearing the perfume or the lip gloss or the outfit, but they're not actually changing, right?
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Why is it that some people like for years stay the same and other people grow and flourish and evolve?
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: And it's because of the embodied experience, which like in those challenging moments, in the moments where it matters, it's not about whether you're wearing the lip gloss or you're drinking the water she drinks or you have a hair color she has.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: It's actually about whether the system is embodied in that identity, right?
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: So when business is going like this, or money is like this, or relationships are like this, or you have to confront someone, you have to enforce boundaries, or you have to say a thing on the internet.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: Is all of that embodied, creating that embodied experience in your identity that is enough to shift the default mode?
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Which brings me to my last one, which is that there is congruent, congruent behavior over time, right?
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: Congruency means consistent and in match, right?
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: So consistency plus a match equals congruent.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: So it's not enough to just be congruent at once.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: And this is where people treat the universe like a cosmic vending machine.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Like, Liv, I was congruent this afternoon, I did the thing, I posted, I posted the bold posts, I did this thing.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Where's the result?
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Let me start checking.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: When you are in transaction with the universe, when you're treating it like a cosmic vending machine, like I did this behavior once, shouldn't it be here?
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: That is not in congruence, right?
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: You actually need to be congruent over time to show that it matches.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: Because if you were only congruent once, you are not a match, because you should be congruent no matter what.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: If you are only congruent when it's easy, like we spoke about in the previous one, or you're only congruent once and then you look for the result, that means it's not locked in.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: The brain updates identity, right?
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: When something registers as true over time and is safe enough to keep.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: Without all of these things, the the four I just listed, the brain, the default mode will reject the update.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: And you're not gonna get that, like an iOS update.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: You're not gonna get that update in your identity.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: And here is something most people don't understand is that the roadblocks don't happen because you're doing something wrong.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: They happen because your nervous system is trying to protect coherence, right?
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: If your external life starts moving faster, then your internal identity can stabilize, the brain will apply the brakes, right?
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: And this will look for anything.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: That can look like sudden exhaustion, self-doubt, loss of momentum, craving old habits, right?
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: Or I don't know who I am anymore.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: And that's not failure, that's just incomplete integration, right?
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Or you start going self-sabotage.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: I want you to really notice this because this is gonna point for you exactly how you're gonna level up so fast because you're gonna see, oh, I can see where I haven't been being congruent.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Oh, I can see where I've been, you know, treating the universe like a cosmic vending machine.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, I can see where, you know, I'm not actually embodied, where it's easy to wear the clothes she wears or the scarf or the lip gloss or the earrings or whatever it is, or buy the almond milk she buys.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: But when it actually comes to leading at that level or putting the off-read or doing the big thing, oh, I'm not actually embodied, which means that you're not.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: And this is important because your default mode network, right, is highly context dependent, which means your identity shifts depending on what you are around.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: And I want you to notice this, right?
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: This is why familiar environments can pull you back into old versions of yourself.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: For example, let's say you stop drinking, right?
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: You stop drinking alcohol.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: You're regulated, you're solid, you're like, you know, for your next level identity and your health, it does not involve a lot of alcohol.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: But then maybe you go home for the weekend, or you meet up with some friends from college or high school who are still partying and drinking heavily.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: All of a sudden, you go back to that old identity.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: You go back to the one who has, you know, five drinks, or you stay up late and you do this.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: I want you to really notice this where your identity shifts depending on who you are around and where you go back to these old ones into these old patterns.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: And this happens because your nervous system recognizes the context, right?
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: Your default mode network is pulling up an old identity file.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, we know when we are at home, we have poor boundaries.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: Oh, we're at home.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: Okay, the identity is poor boundaries, right?
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: Oh, we know that we're around Sally and Susie.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, we drink a lot.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: We don't prioritize our health.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: Where we we abandon our bodies, we don't eat enough protein, we do this.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: All right, we're gonna pull up this file.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: This is what we're gonna do.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: Suddenly, right?
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: Your body has these like familiar cravings.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Your behavior shifts, your voice changes, your self-concept regresses.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Not because you failed, but because the old identity was never fully overwritten.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: And this is why fast level ups, right, require separation first.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: Rapid identity change almost always includes a period of separation.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: And actually, as I am saying this, I am thinking about a certain client I was literally talking about this with who is going through a very fast level up.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: She is leveling up to a level higher than she's ever been before.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: And she wants to do it with speed, right?
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: When you come into my world, we can up level as fast as you want to.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: We're just getting your default mode network on board.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: But this was important because we've been pulling apart all of these ways where she would regress back into old identity behavior with the friends she surrounded herself with, with certain family members, with you know, people in her environment based on the place she's living right now.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: And what I was explaining like this is the identity you have living in this space, in this certain location in the world with these certain people, with these certain dynamics, and it's locked in.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: And so there's a period of quote unquote separation, right?
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: Not as punishment, not to isolate you, but to create space.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: And so we removed all that stuff.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: And then she was in this space and she's like, Liv, I'm in the space, but in that space, there is quote unquote nothing.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: She's in that void.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: But space allows the nervous system to stop being constantly cued by old references.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Let me say that again.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: Space allows the nervous system to stop being constantly cued by old references.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: And so you have to be willing to create that space.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: If you want to level up fast, you cannot be constantly cued by these old reference points, by the reference points that are no longer incongruence, right?
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: And for you, you might have a lot of incongruent reference points right now, right?
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: Whether it's your home environment, your relationships, your friendships, your health, the way you treat your body, there might be a lot of incongruencies, which means when I say this and you remove them all, there's gonna be a lot of space.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: And this has happened to clients before.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: They're like, um, so there's like not many people I can talk to right now.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: And sometimes that's true.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying it's gonna be true for everyone in your life and your world, but for some people, you know, in some instances, in some growth periods, depending on the level of mismatch between the identity you are at now and the one you want to claim, it might involve a lot of separation, a lot of space.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: This is why people up level quickly when they change environments, right?
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: When they change social circles or they go into mentorship, right?
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: Because they're in a completely different environment, a place where its standards are completely different.
- 14:19unknown: Right?
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: They uplevel quickly when they stop explaining themselves, when they remove familiar mirrors, right?
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: Your default mode network needs quiet to rewire, but if you're constantly being exposed to all these reference points, your default mode keeps going back into that old one.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: You're not actually giving it the chance, you're not giving it the space to rewire.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: What does it actually mean to allow your level up to stick, right?
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: We want that level up to really stick in.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: We don't want you to like just glitch for a second and go back down, right?
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: A level up sticks when the nervous system feels safe in new identity, when the behavior is repeated without a threat, where old identities are not being reinforced by old reference points, and when internal coherence, right?
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: That internal match replaces effort.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: And at that point, the new identity becomes the default.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: You don't try to be different, you don't try to be magnetic.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: You are different.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: You are magnetic at that new set point.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: And people feel it immediately.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: That's why people won't recognize you.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: When identity changes at the default mode level, people don't just notice new habits.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: It's not like, oh yeah, I've noticed like she's working out more, she's eating cleaner, she's like prioritizing herself.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: They notice a different posture, a different pacing, different boundaries, different emotional availability, right?
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: You're not performing change, you're not acting as if, right?
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Acting as if doesn't change your default mode network.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: A lot of women get this wrong.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: They think if I act as if for long enough, then my subconscious will believe it.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: No.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: Because if you're not updating your default mode network, your identity on a nervous system level, you can act all day long.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: That's why there are actors who literally act in, you know, performances.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: If acting was enough, then they would just shift into that character.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: And sometimes, right, they do go really deep where they change their default mode network.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: And that's why their character gets so convincing.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: But it's not enough to just act from it from like nine to five or for an hour in the morning, or when you're choosing your outfit in the morning and then go back to the old behavior, you're not embodying it then.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: You're performing it.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: There's a very big difference between performing and acting as if, and this is embodied on embodied on a cellular level, right?
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: You're not performing change, you're embodying it.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: That's why it feels so sudden to others, even if it like takes deep internal work to get there.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: And I really want you to think about where you are performing and acting as if, but you're not actually changing your default.
- 16:54unknown: Right?
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: The nervous system isn't changing, you're just rehearsing it.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: You're performing it all day long.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: You're acting.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: Fast evolution does not come from force, acting as if or pretending or performing.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: It comes from integration.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: When your nervous system updates, your brain follows.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: When your brain updates, your life reorganizes.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: And you don't need to convince anyone around you that you've changed.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: You don't even need to convince and act like you have.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: You just have.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: And if they don't recognize you anymore, that is your proof.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: Thank you guys so much for listening to this episode.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: I would love for you to leave a five star rating and review.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: And know that you can also watch this on YouTube and on Spotify if you haven't already.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: And with that, I will see you in the next episode.
