- 0:01Welcome to Rick and That Michelle Chick, the weekly
- 0:05podcast where your hosts, Rick and Michelle, confidently dive
- 0:10into topics they know absolutely nothing about and somehow make
- 0:15it sound legit. They're not experts.
- 0:17They're not qualified. Honestly, they barely googled
- 0:20it. So grab a drink, lower your
- 0:23expectations, and let's pretend this counts as content.
- 0:28So buckle up. Facts are optional, but the
- 0:31bullshit? That's premium grade.
- 0:34This is Rick and that Michelle chick.
- 0:41So I'm just sipping on the tea and I know, I know, it's going
- 0:45to be a tea filled show today. So that's why I've got my
- 0:48special Rick and Michelle mug available for 999 on Amazon.com.
- 0:54I don't. Know it's 999, we need to ask
- 0:56someone how much. Actually, actually, I'm just
- 0:58lying. I'm lying about where it's
- 0:59available and how much it costs. But I wanted to get the plug in.
- 1:02And again, I know everybody, all three of you watching and
- 1:06listening, would love to add this to your collection because
- 1:08this is how we sip on the tea so.
- 1:10There you go. So I'm going to I'm going to sip
- 1:12on the tea and I'll let Michelle take over because as always, I
- 1:15talk to you much. Yes, no, and if somebody really
- 1:17does want a mug? What?
- 1:20What would you say? Somebody really does want a mug.
- 1:24They can message us and I'm sure we can make it happen for a
- 1:26price. I don't know how much Seoul
- 1:28would sell them for, but yeah, yeah.
- 1:30It's a collectible. Yeah, all two of them.
- 1:33So, you know, get, get in now. I mean, someday you're going to
- 1:36be at a yard sale and one of these bad boys is going to be
- 1:39sitting there and you're going to go.
- 1:40Who? Who the?
- 1:41F is these people and you're going to still going to buy this
- 1:44mug because it looks cool? You can, yeah.
- 1:47I mean, we're just like everyone else who has a podcast and
- 1:50everyone and their mom has a podcast.
- 1:53Literally so. And you?
- 1:54Also have a cool new little. Light.
- 1:56Not with cups. Not with cups.
- 1:58They. Probably have shirts and of.
- 2:01Course they do. They're not.
- 2:02Yeah, they're not radio stations.
- 2:04They've got all the cool. They've got all the cool shit.
- 2:06Radio stations have nothing. This is like a this is, yeah,
- 2:10this is on a limited budget for you and I as far as everything.
- 2:13I know exactly well, but I mean, I know everybody.
- 2:16I know everybody's going to want their their mug.
- 2:17So it's getting my 0 sugar root beer.
- 2:22If you were curious what I drink these days.
- 2:24Well, yeah, you don't drink Mountain Dew anymore.
- 2:26I don't drink Mountain Dew. I don't drink Pepsi.
- 2:27Pepsi 0 sugar, root beer. Yeah, on occasion I have a Pepsi
- 2:31if I'm going to a restaurant. Oh, OK, Yep, and you have a cool
- 2:34new light now. I do thank you so much.
- 2:37It so really quick. It came unexpectedly in the mail
- 2:41thanks to Michelle, along with my super awesome merch mug and
- 2:46so and so it was kind of a a pleasant surprise to to see the
- 2:50the the box. I didn't even know what it was
- 2:52and then I pop it open and and and I don't think we've
- 2:54discussed it. It was it was the lamp for a
- 2:56while. So when the dogs get underneath
- 2:59my underneath under the desk, he ripped out the the last ring
- 3:02light or he broke the last ring light.
- 3:04So it's been a lamp for like, I don't know, 20 shows.
- 3:07It's for. A long time, yeah, for a long
- 3:11time and yeah, so, so it's nice to actually have the the ring
- 3:14light there. So I'm I'm appreciative and then
- 3:16what a what a great podcast partner I have in Michelle.
- 3:20I tell everybody it's so funny. Someone had mentioned to me, oh,
- 3:22I hear you have a podcast. I'm like, I'm like, well,
- 3:24Michelle does all the work, but I show up.
- 3:27I show up to record. You do all the talking, I do all
- 3:31the heavy lifting. So like the editing and
- 3:34everything else that goes into this.
- 3:36Yes, of. Course, because I say you know
- 3:38all the time, so you got to chop out all that you knows.
- 3:40Did we? We already talked about.
- 3:41We already. Talked about crutch words.
- 3:43We already talked about crutch words.
- 3:44What's your crutch word when we do this?
- 3:46You know, minus, you know. Oh, is it the same?
- 3:49Yeah, when I have the same crutch words.
- 3:51Yes, I think we probably like feed off of each other and say,
- 3:55you know, multiple times because that is both of our crutch
- 3:59words. I'm, I'm thinking, I'm thinking
- 4:01there needs to be a remix. Logan, our one listener who can
- 4:04do music. I think he should sample.
- 4:06You know, you know. You know, you know.
- 4:08With you and I and. Then sample it into a little
- 4:11wakey wakey wakey wakey song. Watching TV and commentators and
- 4:16that kind of thing, a lot of them say it too.
- 4:19So I don't feel so bad and just professionals, they're like on
- 4:22TV, yes. And so I don't feel quite so
- 4:26dumb or bad anymore for saying it so.
- 4:28Well, I think, I think that this is unscripted.
- 4:30So it's funny, when I watch, I do watch other podcasts and
- 4:33they've got producers or they've got staff and so that right.
- 4:37Everything for them. And they've got teleprompters
- 4:39and different things. Like, I mean, they're just
- 4:41looking at different things. And so for our little podcast of
- 4:43$0.00, this is what you get. We we just ad Lib it and the
- 4:48best of our ability. So you're going to hear a
- 4:50little. Crutch words in there.
- 4:51I mean, I jot down like what we should talk about, and usually
- 4:54it's more than what we could fit in.
- 4:56And then if I have to have something concrete, like it has
- 4:59to be a quote or has to be whatever, I will specifically
- 5:03write that down so I could see it and read it so that I'm not
- 5:05misquoting somebody or whatever it is.
- 5:07But other than that, yeah, we're just winging.
- 5:10Well, yeah. Because I take probably tell.
- 5:12I take a soft course every show so.
- 5:16Yes, you too. Yes, I do.
- 5:18So she does come with a list. I just want, you know, she does
- 5:20come with a list. Do really.
- 5:21And we get through like topic one, and she's like, well that's
- 5:23it, we're done. There's our time.
- 5:27No, my husband was like, it's too bad you guys couldn't talk
- 5:30longer because you have let lots of stuff to talk about it.
- 5:34It would be fun to hear you get to the other stuff.
- 5:37Got to have more episodes. And we've also talked about
- 5:39would be interesting. Logan said he'd come on as a
- 5:43guest, which would be a lot of fun.
- 5:44He doesn't want to be seen. And you said your daughter might
- 5:46come on, but she doesn't want to be seen.
- 5:48But then I thought, you know, I mean, down the road, I'm not
- 5:51saying today or tomorrow and the next time it would be nice.
- 5:54We do know a cup, OK, what semi celebrities maybe that we could
- 5:58have on the show, you know? Yeah.
- 6:00Maybe. Call.
- 6:00We could call in a couple favors and have them come, you know,
- 6:03show up or whatever. Yeah.
- 6:05Or or, and and you know what in the comments, let us know, hey,
- 6:08do you want celebrities? You want us to get a hold of
- 6:10some celebrities and put them on this thing, or do you like it
- 6:12just the way it is? Or do you, like us, just battle
- 6:16on? Or do you like to would you like
- 6:17to have our our family come on and rebuttal everything that we.
- 6:20Said. And say, and as my son, as my
- 6:22wife always says, you're a lot, you're a liar.
- 6:24You're just a liar. Yeah, same with Shaylee.
- 6:27She says the same thing to me. OK, well, before we dive into,
- 6:31like, all this other stuff, I did want to talk about I'm.
- 6:34I'm annoying, I'm annoyed because we had a bunch of work
- 6:39done on my car. I just picked it up yesterday,
- 6:41$2500 worth of stuff done on my car, right?
- 6:45Picked it up yesterday. I went to go get my coffee
- 6:47before our podcast and what comes on the check engine light
- 6:51comes on and I'm like, you have got to be fucking to me.
- 6:55Like I. And so now after we get done
- 6:58recording this podcast, I have to go take it back there.
- 7:01And then they need to put it on the computer to see if it's just
- 7:05from what they did that now they need to clear it or if it's
- 7:08something new. And I'm like, Oh my God, please
- 7:11don't think, please don't be anything new.
- 7:14Like I could have spent this $2500 on a down car on a down
- 7:17payment for a new car, but we just bought Jay a new car and I
- 7:20don't want a monthly payment right now.
- 7:22I know you were you were thinking about that.
- 7:24I know last time we talked we were thinking about it.
- 7:26Now do you take it to the dealership?
- 7:28No, we took it to this shop that we took it to before last year.
- 7:33We had to take it in and we had about it was last summer because
- 7:36my air conditioning stopped working.
- 7:38We took it in that was like $1300 right there, right for
- 7:42what needed done. Somebody referred us to the shop
- 7:45and so then this is where we took it back again.
- 7:49And so, yeah, the last time they fixed it and it was fine.
- 7:53So I don't know what is going on this time.
- 7:55You know what I'm? Sure.
- 7:55And number one, I'm number one, it's the the the check.
- 7:58I mean it's it's it's finicky, it's finicky.
- 8:01So I will give, I will my my father was a mechanic.
- 8:04So I will give you a little. So if the check if the check
- 8:07engine light is on and it's just solid, yes, it is like it's just
- 8:11solid, right? Yes, it is.
- 8:12Yeah. Then it's you.
- 8:13You want to get it checked out, but it's not dire right now.
- 8:17If you're driving and the check engine light comes on and it's
- 8:19blinking, Mofo gonna die mofo gonna you that's.
- 8:23It well, that's why I took it in because that was.
- 8:25Happening. Was it blinking?
- 8:27Yes. Yes.
- 8:27Well, yes. Only, but only when I would like
- 8:30gun it because you know how you drive.
- 8:33But so that yeah, like, yeah. Yeah, so I would like stomp on
- 8:37the gas to try and pass someone because they were pissed me off
- 8:39or. Whatever it is.
- 8:41Yes, it would come and start blinking, but then it would go
- 8:44off after I stopped or turned it off.
- 8:48So it wasn't consistent, but we knew something was really wrong
- 8:51with it so that's why we got it in the first time.
- 8:54But now it is just on and stays on.
- 8:56OK, All right. Because yeah, when it's
- 8:57blinking, that's usually borrowed time for you, you know,
- 9:00people like just keep driving so.
- 9:02I mean, that's kind of what I was doing.
- 9:05Yeah, yeah, Well, I saw, I saw Logan on Saturday in in
- 9:10Clarkston in my truck, my big yellow truck, it's a 2002.
- 9:13It has the ABS brake light on, but but it but that light, it's
- 9:18got a shorts ever since I bought the truck.
- 9:21Yeah, the first week, first couple weeks I bought the truck,
- 9:23that light came on right, But I took it into the I took it into
- 9:26the light swab and like there's nothing wrong with your brakes.
- 9:28I'm like, well, then it's just a sensor.
- 9:30So I've never fixed it. So it's just always it's just
- 9:33and and if I hit a bump, it comes on.
- 9:35But sometimes, but most of the time, sometimes it's on and off.
- 9:38You know, I'm saying, but check engine.
- 9:40I hear you a little different there.
- 9:41So, but I'd be mad that I I bet, I bet it's a reset, hopefully,
- 9:45and I hope I bet they'll cover it.
- 9:47I bet they'll cover it. Oh, I'm sure they will, but it's
- 9:50just the inconvenience now. Now I have to go back.
- 9:52Now I have to, you know? But yeah, hopefully it's nothing
- 9:56serious and. The one thing I hate about your
- 9:58car, Michelle, is a police interceptor.
- 10:02I hate, you know I hate people like you.
- 10:05I'm just going to put it out there.
- 10:06If you got a freaking police. Interceptor because you're
- 10:09speeding along and you see my car and you go.
- 10:12Like that, here comes that I go, hey, there comes a copper, here
- 10:15comes a copper and. There have been so many cars
- 10:19that will be in the right lane, it will be coming up like super
- 10:22fast on the left side and then they'll see my car.
- 10:25It's usually night time, they can't see it that well and then
- 10:28they're like, they slowed down and stay behind me until they
- 10:32figure out I'm not a cop car and then.
- 10:34Right, right. They think you're a police.
- 10:36Yeah. Interceptor.
- 10:37See, I'm. I'm smarter to know that.
- 10:39So, so. But but the good news again, I'm
- 10:42with you. Good news.
- 10:43It's paid off. Yes.
- 10:44And no one wants, and I don't blame you for not wanting a car
- 10:46payment no matter what. We already have one for Jay's
- 10:48car right now maybe. In like a year.
- 10:50Or two years. I give him credit, he drives.
- 10:54Oh yeah, his last car had what, 250,000 plus miles on it?
- 11:00And so and so, yeah, so your hubby is driving to, you know,
- 11:03he's got a, he's got six hours. What?
- 11:05He's got a big commute. Yes.
- 11:07So she's car. She has a Toyota Corolla 2007.
- 11:11The only thing we've ever done on this car is the brakes.
- 11:13It is stuck for some reason at 299,999 miles and the odometer
- 11:20won't roll over anymore. 300,000 right, Right, because it's
- 11:23expected to be put out of its misery by now.
- 11:26Yes, that car is still going so. I love that.
- 11:30I love that so well, I mean, that's again yeah, I just go in,
- 11:34but I understand the frustration.
- 11:36Well, so Megan got her. Megan has a Subaru.
- 11:39She has a Subaru and so and it's a cross track and it's a 2000
- 11:42here. I thought it was a 2019.
- 11:44And my wife's car is a 2022. It's well, it's way newer.
- 11:48I mean, she always drives the best car in the fleet.
- 11:50I say I always have the junker and so for for a week she was
- 11:55backing out and then I hit the brake.
- 11:57Sounded like they were bad, right?
- 11:58Squeaky and. Yeah, so she went in $3500 later
- 12:03it was, you know, because once you go and she went to the
- 12:04dealership or no, she went to Perfection Tire.
- 12:06But once you go there, of course they go down this huge, massive
- 12:09list of what you need. And she decided, you know what,
- 12:11I'm just going to do it anyway. So she did and then danged if
- 12:15she wasn't pulling out a few days ago and I'm like what the.
- 12:19So no, apparently it was dust in the date the the brake disc.
- 12:23But she still went back. I said I said they didn't.
- 12:25It sounds exactly the same and you got brand new brakes.
- 12:27So she didn't go back and check it and they just cleaned it.
- 12:29Now it doesn't do it. But I understand that
- 12:32frustration, especially when you walk away.
- 12:33You spent 2500 bucks. Yeah.
- 12:36And then you just. Hit the road.
- 12:37You're like what the? Great, I didn't even get a day
- 12:40driving this car and the check engine light comes on.
- 12:43What, And you haven't rode it? I mean, you haven't rode it
- 12:45hard. It's not like you're horrible on
- 12:47your car. Well, what?
- 12:50No, I mean I break fast probably like I go through breaks a lot,
- 12:55but that. Is my own.
- 12:56Doing because I do drive like I am in a race, kind of like you.
- 13:01You are the same one I. Drive like my personality?
- 13:03Yeah, I drive like my personality fast.
- 13:05You are the same way. So I do go through a lot of
- 13:08breaks. I think I'm my car.
- 13:10I've had them change twice now and they're probably going to be
- 13:12due pretty do it again and I've had my car 10 years though so.
- 13:16Yeah, no, I mean, it's, it's been a good, I mean, it's been
- 13:18good, right. But yeah, but your car, when you
- 13:21bought your car, your car was expensive or yes.
- 13:23Because it was, for the time, brand new.
- 13:25Yeah, yeah, for the time, for the time now, it's great.
- 13:27It's not changed, you know, but. Oh yeah, now it's not worth
- 13:30shit, but. You're right, right?
- 13:32But, but, but when you bought it, we were all at the station.
- 13:35We were like, Oh my gosh, we were all drove.
- 13:36How fancy and drooling, right? Right.
- 13:38She pulls. She swings into 4010 Summit View
- 13:41with Backstreet Boys. Blaring or whatever instinct or
- 13:44something I don't know. My moon roof open.
- 13:47Exactly. Maybe it was vitamin CI, don't
- 13:49know one of those things. Probably in my specific parking
- 13:53spot that I always go to park in at town Square and it would
- 13:56irritate me if somebody else got home.
- 13:58Spot I know no driving it with keen play and I'm sure that's.
- 14:01What it was, Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cuz I cuz I always laugh.
- 14:05It's so funny. I don't know if you ever did
- 14:07this when you were a kid or was an adult.
- 14:09I'm always like when I bought a car that's always used, I've
- 14:12never had a new one, but if I bought, it's new to me, right?
- 14:15I'm always like, what's the first song I'm going to play?
- 14:17Am I playing Van Halen jump? I mean, am I playing Mr. Mr.
- 14:20what am I, what am I playing when I first get into this this
- 14:23car for the first time because. You want to hear, you want, you
- 14:27want the bass and you want that surround sound of your car,
- 14:32whatever it is. Right.
- 14:33Everybody thinks about it's, you know, it's, it's it's, it's it's
- 14:37like, you know, yeah. That, that that's the first
- 14:39thought when they, yeah, when they they see that cars like
- 14:42what what's the first song I'm going to play in so.
- 14:45Well, that well, I guess well, 2500 after you get done with
- 14:48this, this broadcast and you'll head over there and, and they'll
- 14:50fix it and you'll be good to go. Let's hope.
- 14:53Let's hope them. OK.
- 14:55Well, you mentioned Logan, Yes. So you got to see him this
- 14:59weekend. I did.
- 15:00How was that? It was good.
- 15:01So I had to go back to Clarkston and Lewiston.
- 15:04I had, I had a broadcast on Saturday, so I was doing a
- 15:07Walker's furniture. But then I had to head out of
- 15:10town because the, the owner of the Rollaway, which was the
- 15:14skating rink I worked at way back in the the late 80s and
- 15:18early 90s, he sadly passed away. And so, yeah, so the older I
- 15:21get, the more I'm trying to make this, this effort.
- 15:24As you know, I, I'm horrible at it of, of, of like if someone
- 15:28passes away or it's a wedding or something's going on, I try to
- 15:31make the effort to go there. And so he passed away.
- 15:34So these are people I hadn't seen in 30 plus years.
- 15:38And so I went to, they did a little celebration of life.
- 15:42He died in October. And so they had a celebration of
- 15:45life in Lewis and Clarkston this this last weekend.
- 15:48So I drove over there and I thought, well, I'm here, I'm
- 15:50going to go go see Logan and go get dinner with Logan.
- 15:54And so I went to the thing for a couple hours.
- 15:56It was great to catch up with people.
- 15:57I mean, it really is sometimes it's so funny when you go back
- 16:01after 30 years, what a surreal thing it is because I haven't
- 16:05seen those people since like early 90s in terms of work, in
- 16:08terms of working at the roller, roller skating rink.
- 16:10And if you didn't know that I did work at roller skating rink
- 16:14early on. And so, and so it's just cool to
- 16:17see people. And then there's people, some
- 16:19people I recognize, some people I didn't recognize, but the, but
- 16:21the skating people kind of hung together, which is kind of cool.
- 16:24So then later we go to, I go to dinner with Logan and Logan's
- 16:28doing good. I love seeing him.
- 16:30But, but one thing we, one thing we do is of course, we spar back
- 16:34and forth in conversation because I, I hope he doesn't
- 16:39mind me saying this, but I'm not, I'm not as woke as he is.
- 16:42So I'm just going to bluntly put it out there.
- 16:45So I feel like I'm more down the middle.
- 16:48And so, and so when we're having the conversation, there's always
- 16:51things that he says to me, you know, and, and I, and I do think
- 16:54that there's a generation gap and some of the things he says.
- 16:58So, so I had, he had heard the podcast about 50 Shades of Grey.
- 17:04So we had talked, I had talked about that Megan had gone seeing
- 17:0750 Shades of Grey and why didn't she come home and want to try
- 17:10some of the 50 Shades of grey stuff.
- 17:12And I told Logan about, and I said, well, normal people.
- 17:15And he goes stop, stop saying normal people.
- 17:18You know, he just shuts me off. You don't know what normal
- 17:21people do. You don't know what everybody
- 17:22does. So he's still, he's kind of like
- 17:24that, you know, I'm saying. So then we got into the
- 17:26conversation about, about just relationships in general and he
- 17:31dropped and he dropped this word transactional.
- 17:34He goes, well, it's not relationships aren't
- 17:37transactional. And then I so I want to bring
- 17:40that to the table today because I do think they are.
- 17:44I think that to some extent because and then so we were he
- 17:47not having conversations. So let's say, and this is, this
- 17:49is hypothetical, but let's say I marry somebody and I married 15
- 17:53years and they completely, 100% turn into a totally different
- 17:58person. Did I get a bad bill of goods?
- 18:01I mean, I know I don't mean to, to say it like that, but, but I,
- 18:06but I, I said it's like, so, so people are allowed to change,
- 18:10which that's OK, but what if they're, what if they're 100%
- 18:13complete opposite of what you married?
- 18:15So, so going forward for the next 1520 years of your
- 18:18relationship, you're supposed to just stuff, you know, that's,
- 18:21that's life. I don't know if I agree.
- 18:23I don't know if I agree with that.
- 18:24And then, and then I was thinking about when you see
- 18:27yachts and you see fat baldy and little tubby guys and you see,
- 18:31and they're and they're 65 plus and, and they've got a hot babe
- 18:35on their arm in a key and they're 22 years old.
- 18:38Bill Belichick. I'm not going to pick on Bill
- 18:40Belichick, but I mean, let's be realistic about the the
- 18:43relationship there. And they already broke up.
- 18:45If you're just curious. About it.
- 18:47Oh, they. Did I think they did?
- 18:48I don't quote me. Sorry.
- 18:49Bill Bell. If if Bill's, he's listening.
- 18:51Sorry, Bill. I'm sure he'll find another 22
- 18:53year old. I will.
- 18:54He'll be fine. So is that transactional to me?
- 18:57Because you could. You're not going to.
- 18:58I mean, I'm not saying that a 22 year old's not attracted to a
- 19:016570 year old person. I'm not saying that that's not
- 19:04humanly possible, but I think the odds are.
- 19:08But there's a little something extra.
- 19:10Right for. Them to be attracted to that
- 19:13person. I think so not necessarily it
- 19:16transactional, it's give and take in a relationship, but
- 19:19Logan's using that like transactional word, but it's
- 19:22just give and take in a relationship, whether that's
- 19:24like emotional support, physical, practical, whatever it
- 19:30is like it's just kind of that ebb and flow of a relationship.
- 19:34So it's not necessarily transactional, it's just how
- 19:37most relationships work. I know there are some people
- 19:41that believe, like Logan, that they should not be like if
- 19:44you're deeply in love, it's not transactional.
- 19:48Almost like keeping scores or right keeping track.
- 19:52And, and I know that's what he means because as he was talking
- 19:55goes, goes on with the girlfriends, my love of my life,
- 19:56blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. You know, and I understand that
- 19:59my, my son is, you know, 30, going to be 32 years old.
- 20:03I'm a 100. I'm not saying I'm totally
- 20:05different, but I am. I'm 50 some years old now, in my
- 20:08late 50s and my viewpoints and my what I believe and what I
- 20:12think has changed. I mean, don't.
- 20:14Do you feel for yourself as well?
- 20:16Definitely. And as you get older, you have
- 20:19children, you'll you have more life experience behind you.
- 20:22Right. And that does not negate what
- 20:24Logan's saying. I understand what he's saying
- 20:26because he's going to immediately go, well, you don't
- 20:27know. I mean you don't know what
- 20:28you're talking about. I hear you because every that
- 20:31the generation under us is going to say we don't know what we're
- 20:34talking about. Just like, just like we always
- 20:36say, the boomers don't know what they're talking.
- 20:37About right, and the boomer said we didn't know what we were
- 20:40talking. About right, but but I do think
- 20:43that from like, it's kind of because we've done this
- 20:45conversation, I said, so if you get dressed up, we're going to
- 20:48go, it's Saturday night or whatever, We're going to go have
- 20:51dinner and and I'm, I'm a guy, you're a female and you cannot
- 20:56sit there and tell me that the guy.
- 20:58And even if even if nothing happens later on, that's still
- 21:01on the guy's mind. Well, yeah, you're a guy.
- 21:03Thanks for one. That's all you're ever thinking
- 21:07about. Does that make you, I mean, does
- 21:08it make you a heathen? Does it make you a bad person?
- 21:10I kind of felt when my son was talking about it made me feel
- 21:12like I'm a bad person. Like I'm not a bad that person.
- 21:14It's like I think most. Typical men.
- 21:17That's what they're thinking about.
- 21:18You think about that all the time.
- 21:20We don't even have to get dressed up for you to think
- 21:22about. That I know and you know, and so
- 21:24and so it's one of those things where you know, you're still
- 21:26respectful. If I, if I reach to my wife and
- 21:28she goes, no, wait. And I huff and puff and turn my
- 21:33turn, my turn the other direction, right.
- 21:35But I I don't. But I don't pursue it.
- 21:38Great. Because she has sent me the
- 21:39message. She's not.
- 21:41Hold it against her like you're not like hold.
- 21:43It against her I get a little, I mean, but I mean, has Jay ever
- 21:47got frusted with you or a little frumpy with you ever, ever in
- 21:51your entire relationship? Probably, I'm sure most.
- 21:53Definitely, yeah. You know, it's just being a, you
- 21:57know. Great, because you guys want it
- 21:59all the time. And I think I mean that that is
- 22:04reality. Most men like that's all you
- 22:06think about sex. What is it like every 3 seconds?
- 22:09Wasn't there a study about that a long time ago?
- 22:12And yeah, we don't have to get dressed up.
- 22:14We don't have to do anything. Like that's what you're always
- 22:16thinking about. And I think we as women like
- 22:19that's not like top of mind for. Us.
- 22:21Oh my God. There's that difference and
- 22:25especially if you have like kids in a household and you're trying
- 22:28to to maintain that, right. And so there's that difference
- 22:32in what's like top of mind for each one of you, the woman and
- 22:36the man. So there's that imbalance right
- 22:39there. Well, and we were talking and
- 22:40interesting, you know, and but but for miss like interesting
- 22:43enough and sorry, Logan, this is, you know, TMI.
- 22:45He's probably going to shut down the podcast, but this is what
- 22:47happens when I I I want to have a real conversation.
- 22:51I want, I want to dwell deeper into the conversation he's going
- 22:54to. Start getting like Shaylee and
- 22:55anything you talk about, he's going to go.
- 22:57You cannot talk about this on the broadcast.
- 22:59Right, so he says he's got a low libido, but his girlfriend has a
- 23:03high libido. Okay, okay.
- 23:05So when he says, well, it's not transactional, well it's not
- 23:10something obviously that he's pursuing, if that makes sense.
- 23:14Great, but his girlfriend is right.
- 23:15Oh she is. She's the one with the higher
- 23:17libido, so. And he and he and, and as he
- 23:20told me, it's like, well, he takes care of blah blah blah.
- 23:24Well that's enough TMI for us cuz it's my kid.
- 23:25But but and so I so I just reversed it.
- 23:28I'm like, well, what about? That is transactional.
- 23:31Right. But what?
- 23:32But if? What if you're?
- 23:33But what if you're the one with the high libido and the person
- 23:35you're married to has the low libido or no libido?
- 23:38Great. It's much harder.
- 23:40It's much harder to navigate it and you know, and, and then
- 23:44it's, I mean, it's almost like, it's almost like be, it's almost
- 23:47better to be married to, to if two people have the same libido,
- 23:50But we know that's not, not always like, what are the odds
- 23:53of that? What are the odds?
- 23:54That hardly ever happens and you go through stages of life where
- 23:59whether it's you have children, you don't have the time, you're
- 24:02exhausted, you get older, women go through the change of life,
- 24:07all that kind of stuff. So all that starts to happen
- 24:09and. We're dealing with, for us,
- 24:12we're dealing with perimenopause, yeah.
- 24:14I think we talked about. I don't know.
- 24:16Yeah, I'm not a fan of. Course you're not, I mean.
- 24:20It's like, it's like my very breathing upsets my wife.
- 24:24You know what I'm saying? My my existence.
- 24:26And it's funny. It didn't take perimenopause for
- 24:29Megan for your breathing to irritate her like that's how
- 24:32it's always been. But it's changed because, and
- 24:35then it's funny, she did send me a video about perimenopause.
- 24:38So it's not like I'm not listening because I am right?
- 24:40And and so it's funny. So they had this couple and this
- 24:43lady he she's cutting chopping up celery for dinner, right?
- 24:46And he comes into the room, right?
- 24:47And she goes and she goes, she goes, you I love, right?
- 24:52And she does that, right? And then she goes and then she
- 24:55goes your breathing, your existence, how you do the
- 24:59dishwasher. Like she just does this whole
- 25:02circle thing, right? She goes, I hate, right, you
- 25:06know, so it's, it's so you're trying to NAV again, you're
- 25:09trying to navigate that, like you said, the change, the change
- 25:12life. And and so that was funny
- 25:14because Megan did mention I think over the weekend, because
- 25:17she was in Oregon. She comes home.
- 25:18I'm like, I'm like, my wife's home from Oregon, right?
- 25:23And I'm like, Hey, baby, what's going on?
- 25:25Right? I mean, I don't actually do
- 25:26that. But but, but I, but I tried to
- 25:28make a move on my wife and she and I'm like, she should miss
- 25:32me. And she's like, she goes, no,
- 25:33not, I'm not feeling it. And I said and I and she goes,
- 25:37and I love what she said she goes, Well, maybe when I, when I
- 25:39get over this thing and I said, I said, honey, I did research.
- 25:43This could be 6 to 10 years. Yeah, it could be a lot.
- 25:46That's what I was gonna say. I'm not a monk.
- 25:51I mean, I did, I don't, I did not take.
- 25:53I am not celibate, you know. Anyway, so.
- 25:56Great. So and I know now my son's
- 25:58turned off by this whole conversation, so yeah.
- 26:00He's yeah. He's done.
- 26:02He's already punched out, but he's.
- 26:03Going to be texting you. He's going to be mad now.
- 26:06Because I I did too much right and.
- 26:08Yeah. So, so I'm not saying the
- 26:10relationship is transactional, but that was a word he used.
- 26:13And I do believe that to some extent.
- 26:15I know what you just said. When it's give give, it's give
- 26:19and take that. Intake the the to maintain a
- 26:22balance and like a mutual satisfaction like has to be
- 26:26there and it kind of ebb and flows.
- 26:28And then what happens? It's always consistent.
- 26:31Yeah. And what happens in that give
- 26:32and take situation where one person takes, takes, takes,
- 26:35takes and this refuses to give. Just do you stay married?
- 26:39Do you stay in the relationship? I mean, these are just you love
- 26:42the person, but but it's like, if so, so even if you're
- 26:46married, should one person spend their life basically in misery
- 26:50to cater to that other person that is their love of their
- 26:52life? Well, that has to be that,
- 26:55right? And that has to be a decision
- 26:57for that individual. Like what are you willing to put
- 27:01up with and for how long? Like what are what are your deal
- 27:04Breakers or what's going to be the breaking point I guess.
- 27:08But. Difference.
- 27:09And all of us put up with different things.
- 27:11And all of us. But when you got married, has
- 27:14you've been married a long, long time too, There was some expect,
- 27:19I mean, because the person you marry, well, you're in that,
- 27:22well, it's the honeymoon phase. I mean, obviously it does.
- 27:24So it's like, so all your needs are getting met in that, in that
- 27:28phase of life, all your needs. I mean, trust me, when I first
- 27:31got married to Megan, all my needs got met in that phase.
- 27:34Now we're moved into a different phase of life and it's a
- 27:36different and it's a different phase.
- 27:37And so some of it to me would be transactional to some extent,
- 27:43you know? Any relationship is give and
- 27:45take. That's yeah.
- 27:46It's but it's not, you're not saying, but you're not saying
- 27:49it. I mean you're not saying, hey,
- 27:50I'll take you to Vegas if you do this.
- 27:52I mean, that's, that's, that's it's a relationship.
- 27:54Right. Yeah, You just, you just know
- 27:58that there is that give and take.
- 28:00And again, like some people keep score some people.
- 28:03Right in. Relationships, right?
- 28:05You did this, this and this, and I expect you to being beat
- 28:08whatever it is. And so there are those
- 28:11relationships now a lot of people are in actually so.
- 28:14Yeah, it's amazing. It really is.
- 28:16So I mean, I again, I guess when it comes to relationships, we'll
- 28:18tie it off. It's just every relationship's
- 28:20different. I was.
- 28:21I don't think there's a road map.
- 28:24Oh no, not at all. And again, it just depends on
- 28:27that relationship what you as individuals.
- 28:32What's going on in? Your dynamic what?
- 28:34Yeah, but I will be. Curious to put up with.
- 28:36I want to, I want to talk to Logan 20 years down the road.
- 28:39I'll probably be dead, but but but if I'm still alive, I'm
- 28:42like, I want to talk with him when he's 5053.
- 28:46You'll be to see. What he has to say?
- 28:48Yes. And I'll be 70 or whatever
- 28:50something. Yeah, right.
- 28:51So I want to. I I'm.
- 28:53Like I'm like a cockroach. I'm not dying.
- 28:56Yes, it'll. Still be at the Top 40 radio
- 28:59station. I will be absolutely.
- 29:01I'll be like spin on the heads, Rick Michaels, 75 years old, you
- 29:06know, got a got a triple spin coming up next.
- 29:09I am, I will say, and you've known me a long time.
- 29:13I am so blessed and so fortunate because even at I will be 56 and
- 29:18you, as long as you've known me, you've never seen me have any
- 29:20health issues. No, but you also haven't been to
- 29:22a doctor in a long time either. So, so so you're saying if I go
- 29:29to the day, I've already said if I can't say it, I don't have it.
- 29:33OK, So it better be it better be, you know, like so backache,
- 29:36OK, I can say it. I can have it a heartache I
- 29:39could say. I could have heartache because,
- 29:41you know, heartburn. I mean, things I can say, but
- 29:43things I cannot, I can't. I don't know any of that stuff.
- 29:46OK. All right.
- 29:47That makes it not real OK. So I'm curious in the comments
- 29:50below. Transactional even even
- 29:54unbeknownst, I think it's AI think it's a transactional
- 29:57world. I think even relationships that
- 30:00people are like, yeah, it's not transactional or blah, blah,
- 30:02blah. It is to some degree because
- 30:05again, there is ebb and flow in a relationship.
- 30:07There's give and take. Whether or not you see it as
- 30:09transactional, that's what is happening in your relationship.
- 30:13I mean, Michelle has a Louis Vuitton purse.
- 30:15Hey. How do you how do you get Louis
- 30:19Vuitton purses? Well, I take my husband to Vegas
- 30:22and we have a great time. Worked hard for those persons.
- 30:25OK, I. Bet you did.
- 30:28I bet you did. Hey, I will.
- 30:31I will clarify before we tie this off.
- 30:33Trust me, I know who butters the bread.
- 30:37I do. I do my wife.
- 30:39What? What hoop do you want me to go
- 30:41through, honey? So I am going to 100% say women
- 30:46rule the world. I've I have that.
- 30:47There is no, there is no doubt because, because, because women.
- 30:53Number one, I've always said this about women.
- 30:55They don't need us. No look at all the women now
- 30:59that have realized that and are finding Single Ladies buying
- 31:03their own house, living their best life with their cats like.
- 31:07If my, if Megan was not married to me, I swear she, she could
- 31:10care. I mean, honestly, she could care
- 31:11less and I think she'd be single and she'd be perfectly, 100%
- 31:15happy with that. But guys, no, guys cannot be
- 31:19alone, sorry. I mean, there's some they're
- 31:21perpetual bachelor, but they're outgoing to the, the, the coffee
- 31:25shack trying to get on the 22 year olds.
- 31:26So. Yeah, they're still going to the
- 31:27bars. Right, thank you.
- 31:29Thank you. So, man, yes.
- 31:30And I and I do that. Yeah.
- 31:33It's like if women get divorces or or break up with people, they
- 31:36can be alone for long periods of time.
- 31:39The guy before he gets a divorce is usually out with I've always
- 31:43said this. What's on the other side, right?
- 31:46Like when someone when someone comes and goes, hey man, I want
- 31:48I want to break up or I want a divorce.
- 31:50I'm like, my first thought is who's on the other side?
- 31:53Right. What is the reason most people
- 31:55don't just leave? Because.
- 31:57Right, that people don't leave for nothing, no matter what.
- 32:00And I mean unless it's abuse or some horrific thing, we're,
- 32:04we're just talking normal relationships.
- 32:06It's like I'm always like, so whenever I'm at work or somebody
- 32:09goes, oh, they're getting divorced or somebody's breaking
- 32:11up and I'm like, oh, what? I wonder what's on the other
- 32:14side? And I've had people go there.
- 32:16There's nothing over there, nothing they're.
- 32:18They're and then they find out that's.
- 32:19Not true. When Christmas party, here they
- 32:21come, here they come. I'm like really, you know, and
- 32:28I'm always like, and me, I'm, you know, I'm that I when it
- 32:31comes to keeping score that way, I am the first person that goes
- 32:34told you so told you told you. All right, what other exciting
- 32:40things are going on? Did you see what Gene Simmons
- 32:42said? I wouldn't have to ask you about
- 32:44this comment because I was like Oh my God.
- 32:47Do you want to clarify what what he did?
- 32:50Well, yeah, I wrote it down just so that like, I didn't misquote
- 32:53him so. Get the quote right.
- 32:56Yeah, so he said that Hollywood stars should kiss their
- 33:00political activism goodbye. He said that celebrities should
- 33:04quit talking about politics and keep their opinion to
- 33:07themselves. He said, quote, do your art and
- 33:10shut up. Nobody is interested in your
- 33:13opinion. That includes me.
- 33:15End Quote. He also said quote, people in
- 33:17America work hard for a living and they don't want to be
- 33:20lectured to by people who live in mansions and Dr. Royce, Rolls
- 33:24Royces. I can never say that it's time
- 33:27for everyone and entertain in the entertainment industry to
- 33:30shut their pie hole and do their art.
- 33:33End Quote. That's exactly what he said and
- 33:36I, I'm conflicted on this because you and I have both been
- 33:40censored. Being on the radio like.
- 33:42What we could. Yes, what we couldn't couldn't
- 33:44talk about or certain right. We've talked about the whole
- 33:48Pepsi, right. We've talked about the whole
- 33:49Pepsi Coke thing. What happened to us right right.
- 33:53So I'm conflicted in that because I feel like we should
- 33:57have a right to our opinion regardless of what we do for a
- 33:59living. So you're saying, so basically
- 34:01he's saying because you're an actor or you're a singer, you're
- 34:03a celebrity that you don't get to have an opinion or you don't
- 34:07get to voice that opinion. I mean, that's essentially what
- 34:10he's saying. Right, So I, I'm with you in
- 34:13the, in the fact that, OK, so we work at radio stations, right?
- 34:18Yes. And let's say, let's say Pepsi
- 34:20is our biggest client or whatever.
- 34:22We don't like to be censored or told not what to do.
- 34:25But I, but I'm more cognitive. If I'm working for somebody,
- 34:29they're employing me. So, so it's funny.
- 34:32So I work at country radio. And so I know that it's God.
- 34:36It's God, country, the Bible, the American flag, Pledge of
- 34:39Allegiance, all of that. I don't go on the air or very
- 34:43rarely will ever go on the air #1 politically just because
- 34:47we're, I'm just not going to align with the with that, you
- 34:50know, and I do align, I shouldn't, I do align with some
- 34:52of that, just just not at, at that extent.
- 34:55And so, no, Yeah, so, so it's one of those things.
- 34:59So but I look at like they're employing me to do a job.
- 35:01They're my employer. So I'm going to respect.
- 35:04It's kind of like for the most part, people of people don't
- 35:06realize news talk radio is is red.
- 35:11I'm not redneck. I call it red meat, but it's
- 35:14it's conservative based. It's it for the most part that
- 35:17is the only successful formats generally in small towns from
- 35:21news from news talkers. You're not going to find a
- 35:23liberal news talk radio station in Yakima or tri-cities or any
- 35:27of that. You just not there's just not
- 35:29enough of base there for it. And even in Seattle, even in
- 35:32Seattle, those those there might be there, but they don't do as
- 35:35well as the conservative Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity's Glenn
- 35:39Beck. I mean, it just thrown that red
- 35:40meat out there. One thing I respected about Andy
- 35:43Winford because he was a liberal and he was the program director
- 35:46of KIT back in the day. He went to Dave Edel and said,
- 35:49man, I'm not hearing enough red meat.
- 35:50He goes, he goes, you had the Superintendent of schools in.
- 35:53Why is it, why is it a, you know, a pleasant interview?
- 35:57Tell him, you know, ask him, why are they overspending?
- 35:59Look, let's take a look at the budget because you say your
- 36:01values are one thing, right? But when you're interviewing
- 36:05somebody, you're not asking the hard questions or you're not
- 36:08asking the questions that if you say that is who you are, you
- 36:11should be doing. And so I, I respected that
- 36:14because he didn't come in and try to make the radio station
- 36:18his viewpoint. He came in and said, this is the
- 36:20radio station, this is the brand.
- 36:21So I expect it to be what it says it's going to be.
- 36:24It's the same for we've talked about you can't just pick the
- 36:28music for the radio station based on what you like.
- 36:31Like it's not about what you like music wise.
- 36:34Right. So I'm saying, so for you, I'm
- 36:36saying if I'm employed by somebody, OK, I can play by
- 36:38those rules because I know the rules I'm playing by, right?
- 36:41So those are the rules I'm playing by now if I am an
- 36:44independent contractor, if I am a musician, it's my if I own
- 36:48Journey Inc or if I'm Mr. Mr. Inc or if I'm the lead singer of
- 36:52a band or whatever. I wish I owned that, but but now
- 36:58I'm not going to sidestep, but I will say don't Do you like it
- 37:01better when you discover that your favorite musical artist
- 37:04leans the way you do? Yes, of course I would be lying
- 37:08if I said no. If I said no, it doesn't matter.
- 37:11That's that's bullshit and that's how all of us are.
- 37:14It's not just me. But for me it's an added bonus,
- 37:16yes, when I'm enjoying some music and I'm like, oh, they
- 37:19lean politically my way. Oh great.
- 37:22I mean they don't throw 3 on everything.
- 37:23Great man, but if I know someone doesn't, that doesn't mean I'm
- 37:27just going to not watch some movies or not whatever it is.
- 37:31Great, great example. You know, you know, and I'll use
- 37:33my love for Mr. Mr. Richard Page.
- 37:36My, you know, my, my guy, right? Well, he's, he lives in Malibu
- 37:41and he's a Democrat because he posted it.
- 37:43So that's how I know he is, you know what I'm saying?
- 37:45I mean, but he, but he, he does not get political very, very
- 37:48seldom. And the last time he did a
- 37:49video, he had a hat that said Make America Kind Again.
- 37:53A, a, a blue hat, right? But he does not.
- 37:55I mean, but that pretty much tells me where he's at.
- 37:57If he's got a hat that says Make America Kind Again, tells me
- 37:59where he's at. Now, the guitarist in the band,
- 38:02well, he's as conservative. He's a duck hunter, you know
- 38:05what I'm saying? He's a Ted Nugent.
- 38:07He's a, you know, he's a rock, rock guy, right?
- 38:11So, so and not to say that that's who he is, but you can
- 38:14pretty much tell he's conservative.
- 38:17But they're in the same band. They're in the same band.
- 38:19They get along, they're in the same band.
- 38:20They like we. Can all get along.
- 38:22Yes, their their mutual respect about those situations.
- 38:25So it's one of those things where I think that if you again,
- 38:30there are consequences to free speech.
- 38:32So if you are one way, let's say you are ultra woke and and
- 38:37someone doesn't cast you in the movie, I think that's their
- 38:40choice. I mean, that's free enterprise.
- 38:43Right. If you don't but but most most
- 38:45of the time they align. I also don't believe that when I
- 38:48hear Chris Pratt or even, Oh my gosh, he's the guy who was on
- 38:53Chuck. You know who I'm talking about.
- 38:55These are, these are conservatives.
- 38:57These are conservatives in Hollywood.
- 38:59Are you talking? About Scott Bale.
- 39:00No. Well, Scott Bale's a great
- 39:02example. I do not I do not believe that
- 39:05they're also blackballed, you know what I'm saying?
- 39:07Right. Like I think if they're right to
- 39:09the park, they're going to get cast for the part.
- 39:11Yes. Yeah.
- 39:12So I don't think that there's some dark machine saying, well,
- 39:15I don't like Scott Bale. No, Scott Bale was a star in the
- 39:1880s. Sorry.
- 39:19I mean, so. And when was the last time Scott
- 39:21Bale was relevant? So.
- 39:24Reality show on VH1 which was in what like 2000 and something or
- 39:28right? Exactly.
- 39:29I married Scott Baio or whatever that show was.
- 39:31Scott Bale at 4:00. That's what it was.
- 39:33See, I'm giving you enough respect.
- 39:34Scott Baio. I know what the name of the show
- 39:36is. Scott Baio at 40.
- 39:38Yes, Scott Baio at 40. And you can even and you can
- 39:41even Google it. So I think that like always,
- 39:44there's consequences and and Dolly, I know Dolly, who we all
- 39:47love. Dolly Parton has often said that
- 39:51she doesn't talk politics and she doesn't.
- 39:53She doesn't. She doesn't.
- 39:54But I believe and I. But she's kind and the stuff
- 39:57that she does, if you look at. Thank you.
- 40:00No, you just said it. You just said it.
- 40:03I think you can pretty much tell they don't have to say anything.
- 40:07No. In it in in the actions that
- 40:09they do. Yes.
- 40:11So and so, yeah, you see that. I think you see that a lot.
- 40:16I see. I think you.
- 40:17I see, I think you see that with Jeff Bezos and his ex-wife.
- 40:21Oh, definitely. Now you know what?
- 40:23I know exactly where they align. I think she doesn't have to come
- 40:25out and tell me anything. I know where she aligns and what
- 40:29and what her viewpoint is. And I and I know what his
- 40:32viewpoints are. There's no doubt in my mind.
- 40:34So I, I disagree with Jean. I mean, I understand you're on
- 40:38the fence. You know, I think if you're
- 40:40working for somebody, then you need to know the parameters and
- 40:42what you're working. But I also think that no one has
- 40:46a right to for you not to have your opinion and just.
- 40:49Censor you like you know we like that's what we have the 1st
- 40:52Amendment for so but but then if you who needs their ball?
- 40:59Hang on, I want to go toss this outside.
- 41:01OK, dog break. Well, yeah, he's he's sitting
- 41:06here whining. I don't know if you heard him.
- 41:07Did you hear him whimpering? No, I haven't heard him.
- 41:09The mailman hasn't came by lately.
- 41:11Or the. Delivery guy, I'm sure he's
- 41:13going to be here anytime. So hang on, hang on, go toss.
- 41:16Ball break, OK. I couldn't figure out why he was
- 41:19whimpering and whining, but the ball was at my feet.
- 41:23So anyway, he's fine. You're 14 years old.
- 41:27What's that? He's like the ball is right
- 41:29here. What are you doing that's?
- 41:32Why you was whipping? So yes, I understand you being
- 41:35torn on that, but I think everybody's allowed and it's,
- 41:38it's America, it's a free country and we're allowed to
- 41:41have our, our, our viewpoint. Now, if there's consequences
- 41:44because of it, well, that's on that person.
- 41:46Right, That's the risk you take. It's no different than when we
- 41:49post stuff on social media. You run the risk of the
- 41:54consequences of what you post, whether that's from your family,
- 41:58from your job, whatever it is so.
- 42:00I learned that lesson from my goodness.
- 42:03I learned that from the Biden situation or the Harris
- 42:05situation. And I, I, I don't know how many
- 42:07friends you have on Facebook. I've got like, I've got like
- 42:103000 friends on Facebook. I only have like 500 but my blue
- 42:13sky though is where it's at. Like I have over 11,000
- 42:16followers. Thank you.
- 42:17Well, well of. Course because and and blue sky
- 42:19lines with what you what, where you live and no, I get that So,
- 42:23so for me on my Facebook, I've got about 3000 people.
- 42:26I mean, it's not like I'm actively searching for people,
- 42:28but I but for me, my face ball, my Facebook is my catch all.
- 42:32So it's got it's got it's got radio station listeners, it's
- 42:35got celebs, whatever, whatever, friends, family, blah, blah,
- 42:40blah. And I have learned some hard
- 42:42lesson lessons of of posting up there because people get brutal
- 42:47up there and then they also fight among themselves.
- 42:49Not me out there fighting down below with among themselves on
- 42:52those situations. And so, so it's funny when I do
- 42:55have my conservative friends and my and my and my liberal friends
- 42:58going at it, I'm like, whoa, holy cow, get out, get out of
- 43:01the way. So it's, it's, it is
- 43:03interesting. So, but I think that that by by
- 43:06saying because you have a, by saying because you have a
- 43:09particular trade, you're not allowed, you have an opinion
- 43:12that's. Just like then let's then let's
- 43:14make this blanket and everyone because like in.
- 43:18You're not saying? You're not, Yeah.
- 43:19You're not saying this to an accountant or a lawyer or a
- 43:22waitress, whatever it is. Then let's let's make this
- 43:26blanket. Everybody can't talk politics.
- 43:29I don't want to see your shit on social media.
- 43:31I'm not posting it, so I don't want to see yours.
- 43:34Like, let's just Yeah. But then again, that's running
- 43:36into the 1st Amendment that's suppressing everybody's right to
- 43:40free speech and our opinions and.
- 43:43I like, I like what Megan does. So Megan, it was funny.
- 43:46Megan worked at the YMCA for 14 years before she went out to PNL
- 43:50and she didn't friend any of them on her social work, at her
- 43:54work and then. That's what my husband does a
- 43:56little bit. And then once she went to PNL.
- 43:58Once she went to PNL, then there was a few that she friended that
- 44:02she liked because she said, I don't want them to see if, if I
- 44:05do decide to post something religious or political, they,
- 44:09they don't need to see it. Or, you know, I don't, I don't
- 44:11need the hassle at work about whatever.
- 44:13And I always I kind of, I respected that.
- 44:15I kind of feel like you and I are more.
- 44:17I know my, my wife, Oh my gosh, we got into this big argument or
- 44:20not an argument we got in this discussion is do you consider
- 44:24radio people celebrities? No.
- 44:26Thank you. Thank.
- 44:28You, we're not even like. She was at, she was at a mixer
- 44:34or something. She.
- 44:35Say we are. No, she just says she goes.
- 44:38She goes, she was at a mixer. And they were like, oh, tell us
- 44:40something that we don't know about you, Megan.
- 44:43And she goes, oh, well, I'm married to a local celebrity,
- 44:46you know? And then she came home and told
- 44:48me, and I said, why'd you say that?
- 44:50Right, we get up that. I'm like, I'm not a celebrity.
- 44:54And she goes and then she throw it back at me and she goes,
- 44:56well, is Kurt Cartier a celebrity?
- 44:58I said yes, she got this. Faith Martin, a celebrity.
- 45:01And I said, well, yes, Faith, is Michaels a celebrity?
- 45:06Because I'm not. I'm not a celebrity.
- 45:08I think that's probably because we don't, because we're so hard
- 45:13on ourselves, we're so critical of ourselves.
- 45:15We don't think about, we don't see ourselves in that light like
- 45:19how everybody else sees us, like we don't see ourselves in that
- 45:24way at all. And whether that's our spouse,
- 45:29the people that we know, whatever it is, and they see us
- 45:33in that light. When they listen to us day in
- 45:35and day out on the radio, they see us in that light and we
- 45:39don't see ourselves as that person or whoever they think we
- 45:43are, celebrity or whatever it is.
- 45:45Well, I think if I think anything, I think D list
- 45:48celebrity if I. ZI said ZZ list.
- 45:51We don't even make the Z list. But, but I mean, but I can't
- 45:55tell a lie and say that I don't, I don't get, I mean, around
- 45:58tri-cities I do get recognized or when I'm in a, in a, when I'm
- 46:01in a city, when I'm in a situation.
- 46:03So Megan and I went and we hosted her Seroptimist Bunco
- 46:07nights and I and I made a joke and I called us the Bickersons.
- 46:10So we're the we're the Bickersons.
- 46:12So we're the Bickersons. So we both were on the mic from
- 46:14the mic now and Megan readily available.
- 46:17It says my husband is way better on the microphone than I am.
- 46:20You know, she gets all nervous and all that and I just grew up
- 46:23and we just be the. Most people do.
- 46:25But but I but I didn't, I didn't say my name.
- 46:29And so my wife was upset. She's like, she goes, she goes.
- 46:32They keep asking how they know your voice and you need to say
- 46:35your name. You need to say where you're
- 46:37from and what's your name, as I'm not going to say my name.
- 46:39You know, I'm here hosting. I'm your husband.
- 46:42I'm here hosting Bunco night. I don't even drag radio into
- 46:45this thing. And so it was so funny, was so.
- 46:48So in a sense, are you a local celebrity to some extent?
- 46:51Z list. All right.
- 46:52OK, so. But yeah, I'm with you.
- 46:54We're allowed to have opinions. Everybody, everybody should have
- 46:56an opinion. But that's the First Amendment,
- 46:58too. Right.
- 47:00You're allowed to have an opinion, but but the consequence
- 47:03is that plays out totally different.
- 47:05But to have an artist because they're an artist.
- 47:07Right, because you're an actor or whatever celebrity, whatever
- 47:11it is you are, whether that's like a sports celebrity, that
- 47:14means they can't have an opinion either then?
- 47:16Right. And my my favorite thing that I
- 47:18always tell people is the only opinion that you want coming out
- 47:22of my mouth is your opinion. Then we can agree that's what
- 47:26you, that's what you want. You want me to meet me for the
- 47:28first time? Hey, I'm Jim.
- 47:30Hey, I'm Rick. Nice to meet you.
- 47:31You want me to have the exact same opinion coming out of my
- 47:34mouth? That's coming out of your mouth.
- 47:36And then if it isn't then you're like, well, shut your pie hole.
- 47:40Right, which is the question that you asked me.
- 47:43Like, do I like my artist better when I know that their political
- 47:47views align with myself? It's the same.
- 47:49It's kind of the same thing. Of course I do.
- 47:52But I but I do. I mean, I like being pleasantly
- 47:56surprised. Yeah, yeah.
- 47:57Right. I mean, it was one of those
- 47:58things, and I even said this, it was so funny, was my foster
- 48:03family, who I just absolutely adore.
- 48:05As you know, there are plenty of conservatives.
- 48:08So my, I have foster brothers and I have foster sisters now
- 48:11They're my goodness. They're, they're in their 70s,
- 48:14they're in their 80s because remember that, you know all
- 48:16that. So most of them, multiple of
- 48:19them are conservative. And then I have my, my younger,
- 48:22my younger sister, my, my favorite.
- 48:24Well, I won't say my favorite, but my my the.
- 48:27But I always say she's my favorite because I just.
- 48:30Adore. But do your other siblings know
- 48:31that you say that though? Oh, they shouldn't.
- 48:33She was around when I so when I was so they were remember they
- 48:36were all adults. They were all adults when I was
- 48:39the foster kid to the bogans. And so Kathy was 19.
- 48:44She was the closest to your age. Right, right.
- 48:46And so I was 8, so I was 8. Kathy was 19/18/19.
- 48:49And then I got to go when she was in college, I got to go stay
- 48:52in the dorm with her and her friend, things like that.
- 48:55So and so she leans liberal. She's liberal.
- 48:58She's a teacher. Her husband's a teacher.
- 49:00Their their daughter's a principal, their son's a
- 49:03teacher. He's in Saudi Arabia right now.
- 49:04They're all teachers. So you kind of sort of know
- 49:07where they lead, right? But but then my my foster
- 49:10brother, Doug, he's a rancher and he lives in Riggins, Idaho,
- 49:13and he's got 200 head of cattle. Well, guess you know where
- 49:17that's going to lean. And then he has his kids.
- 49:20Necessarily doesn't. No, but necessarily, not
- 49:22necessarily, but but his kid, he, he has a great kid.
- 49:26They're all wonderful people. But there's James and Jenna,
- 49:29which are his kids, right? Well, guess what?
- 49:32They're ranchers. So where do they lean
- 49:34politically? It's not a it's not for me.
- 49:36It's not rocket science. So for me, the biggest joy
- 49:40because I never, my foster parents never talked about it at
- 49:43all, period. So great religion and politics
- 49:47they never talked about. They did believe in God.
- 49:49I talked about it in my book. They did.
- 49:51But they never shoved it down. They never said, you're going to
- 49:52believe and you're going to be this.
- 49:54Well, I have finally asked Kathy.
- 49:56I have finally asked Kathy. I said, you know, I don't, I
- 49:58don't know what mom and dad was. And she goes, and she goes, oh,
- 50:01they were proud Democrats. Not a surprise.
- 50:05And they're coming from the great they were, Remember, they
- 50:07came from the Great Depression. Right.
- 50:09And then I thought to myself, and I put my brakes on and went,
- 50:12oh, wait a minute. Were they the flip Democrats or,
- 50:15you know, I'm, I started thinking, wait a minute, are
- 50:18they the Southern Democrats? You know.
- 50:20Because remember, the parties flipped.
- 50:22Yeah, so I know so and I don't we sometimes.
- 50:25Forget about that like. Right.
- 50:27And so I said, Oh my God, are they the Jew pro Democrats?
- 50:29Is that what what what I mean, you know, God, that's so funny.
- 50:32No, I thought about it. I was like, Oh my God, because
- 50:34you know, they were in their my dad was, you know, in the in the
- 50:37in the 80s he was in as he was close to 80 when in the early
- 50:4080s, seventy 8 or whatever. So immediately I thought, Oh my
- 50:43God, what? What?
- 50:44And I never went, I never went back to Kathy.
- 50:46I never went back to Kathy and said what Democrats they were.
- 50:48But I, I just, I just take it went forward.
- 50:50I take it as face value that they're my kind of Democrats.
- 50:53Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's the same.
- 50:55We've talked about my grandma. How?
- 50:57Yeah. Which they probably all were
- 51:00around the same age. She, when I asked her who she
- 51:03was voting for and she told me, you know, my vote is sacred.
- 51:07And I never saw her, like, talk politics or religion to people,
- 51:10even though she was religious. She went to church every Sunday.
- 51:13Yeah, Yeah. Shout out to Mount Olive
- 51:15Lutheran Church. Like, that's where she went
- 51:17every single Sunday. But she didn't force that on
- 51:22people or talk about it wasn't something that was sacred to
- 51:25them, right? It wasn't.
- 51:26And so is that where we need to get back to?
- 51:29I I think to some extent because it's like, it's like some
- 51:32people, it's interesting how people make it their whole
- 51:35personality, I guess. I guess that's what's really
- 51:38changed, I don't think. It and social media.
- 51:41Social media has made it yeah, because so when I'm so even
- 51:44though I've got like like you, I've got like 3000 social media
- 51:46from Facebook friends or whatever, it's like, but I don't
- 51:50mind seeing. I mean, even if they're a
- 51:51Trumper. Okay, so you're a Trumper, but
- 51:53if every post is Trump, yes. Then I'm like.
- 51:56That's your, that's. Your thing.
- 51:58Right, right. I'm not, I'm not you can be
- 52:00conservative. There's nothing wrong being
- 52:01concerned, whatever, but it's like, but if every because at
- 52:04least I mean, then I'm kind of like, gosh, don't you?
- 52:07Do you like baseball? Do you like football?
- 52:09Do you have hobbies? What music do you like?
- 52:11Do you like watching movies? Do you like watching TV?
- 52:15Do you have? I'm more interested in who.
- 52:17Do you like? Right, right.
- 52:19I want to see more of, well, who, Who are you besides?
- 52:22This is are you as a person. Yeah, yeah.
- 52:24This is the only thing you present to me as a person.
- 52:27I don't even know, you know, if I don't know anything else about
- 52:30else about you so great. But yeah, you're allowed to have
- 52:35that opinion. Thanks, Gene Simmons.
- 52:36Now shut your pie hole. Yeah, there's a guy who should
- 52:39shut his pie hole. That's it for today's episode of
