- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, the Odyssey continued its epic box office journey, scoring
- 0:05Speaker 1: a sensational eighty seven million dollars in its second weekend.
- 0:09Speaker 1: That's a tally most films, especially our rated ones, would
- 0:12Speaker 1: be happy with to get the first weekend. It is
- 0:16Speaker 1: a massive hit, right, Oh yeah, oh.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Okay, it's yeah. I don't I don't think about things
- 0:25Speaker 2: like that.
- 0:25Speaker 1: But there's there's there's eaten people, and there's oh, there's
- 0:30Speaker 1: people turning into pigs, and.
- 0:33Speaker 2: All right, well that's not our rated as far as
- 0:35Speaker 2: I'm considered.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Uh, my my son Muhammed, not the prophet, but my son.
- 0:41Speaker 3: He's seen it twice and I know multiple people who
- 0:45Speaker 3: have like it. This is a it's a phenomenon.
- 0:49Speaker 2: My I went. I talked to my brother on Saturday.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I went up and visited with him and he went
- 0:56Speaker 2: to it and he didn't care for it.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Oh what did he not care for?
- 1:00Speaker 2: You said, well, it could have cut an hour of
- 1:02Speaker 2: it out.
- 1:03Speaker 3: It's an odyssey.
- 1:04Speaker 2: And I said, it's a lot of people are saying
- 1:06Speaker 2: it's great. You said, just didn't do anything for me.
- 1:09Speaker 3: It was great.
- 1:10Speaker 1: So I went, I took Daddy Gary to see it.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And it is a movie.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Yeah, big everybody summer movie.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Everybody that I've talked to about it that has seen
- 1:23Speaker 4: it said that it's just amazing it.
- 1:26Speaker 2: My brother is the only negative effort, it's the.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Only it's It's amazingly well done, all parts of it,
- 1:32Speaker 1: the cinematography, the sound, the acting.
- 1:37Speaker 3: It's great.
- 1:38Speaker 1: If you and I would go see it in the theater,
- 1:41Speaker 1: like so many things that are coming out, Yeah, you
- 1:43Speaker 1: could probably see it at home.
- 1:45Speaker 3: You need to see this, you know.
- 1:46Speaker 2: They are only I think it's forty one Imax theaters
- 1:50Speaker 2: in the.
- 1:50Speaker 3: World, which is kind of surprising. In the world.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds like the nation to me, But no,
- 1:57Speaker 2: I think it's in the world.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Yeah, see on the on the biggest screen you can
- 2:02Speaker 3: see it. So I saw too.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure Sean Means gave both of these movies
- 2:06Speaker 1: four stars. So I saw that, and then I went
- 2:10Speaker 1: to the Broadway to see The Invite.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I don't know something about the way the
- 2:16Speaker 2: descriptions I've heard of that I don't know if I
- 2:19Speaker 2: want to see it.
- 2:20Speaker 1: It's so first of all, at the Broadway, the new
- 2:24Speaker 1: seats are so great, and do you know what they
- 2:27Speaker 1: have on the aisle the side aisles.
- 2:31Speaker 3: The they have a purse holder, they have a little
- 2:34Speaker 3: like a couple.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Why do not more? I'm gonna have to start taking
- 2:38Speaker 2: my purse.
- 2:39Speaker 3: It's so nice because usually you have your person.
- 2:42Speaker 1: You're like, well, you can maybe sit in the seat
- 2:43Speaker 1: next to you, but maybe there's no there's someone sitting there,
- 2:46Speaker 1: and you don't want to put it on the floor
- 2:48Speaker 1: because that's gross. So the Broadway, I'm loving the purse holder.
- 2:52Speaker 1: More more purse holders.
- 2:55Speaker 3: But the invite. I can see why you would say that. Bill.
- 2:57Speaker 1: It's one of those movies where you go and then
- 3:02Speaker 1: you have a big conversation about it after. If this
- 3:06Speaker 1: is the Olivia wild uh Seth Rogan.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I have the same about the second season of Beef.
- 3:17Speaker 2: The way it was described, I thought, I don't think
- 3:19Speaker 2: I'm gonna like that, and I didn't watch it for
- 3:22Speaker 2: the longest time, and then when I finally did watch it,
- 3:24Speaker 2: m h, I went, oh, this is really good. Yeah,
- 3:27Speaker 2: it's not bad.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I mean, the invite is really good, but it's uncomfortable.
- 3:32Speaker 1: It's it's uh, you know, Olivia Wilde and Seth Rogan
- 3:35Speaker 1: are you know, kind.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Of a couple that's sort of fallen out of love.
- 3:40Speaker 1: With each other, the sparks gun out of their marriage,
- 3:43Speaker 1: and then they invite ed Norton and Penelope cruise over
- 3:46Speaker 1: and they're like the opposite of that.
- 3:48Speaker 3: They're like hyper sexualized.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Always flirting with each other.
- 3:54Speaker 1: It's it's and the difference between the two movies where
- 3:58Speaker 1: I'm like, the Odyssey is a big movie. The invite
- 4:00Speaker 1: that could be a play. It's all like, it all
- 4:02Speaker 1: takes place in this apartment.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it's if somebody's described it as a modern Who's
- 4:07Speaker 2: Afraid of Virginia Wolf? Yeah, which that's for you know,
- 4:11Speaker 2: four people, two couples. I think that's all that's in it,
- 4:14Speaker 2: and it just takes place in one room.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Like I wouldn't be surprised if this turns into a
- 4:19Speaker 1: Broadway show about it.
- 4:22Speaker 2: But I've heard people really complimenting Olivia Wilde's direction. She
- 4:27Speaker 2: directed it and stars in it.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know who wrote it?
- 4:32Speaker 2: Yes, but I can't remember Rashida Jones.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Oh yeah, which I predict Oscars come around that gets
- 4:39Speaker 1: nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Which would be fun if
- 4:44Speaker 1: Rashida Jones won that.
- 4:46Speaker 2: I saw Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Remind me what that is?
- 4:52Speaker 2: It's Sam Rockwell as a visitor from the future and
- 4:57Speaker 2: it is it's child. It moves along briskly. Sam Rockwell
- 5:03Speaker 2: is always incredible. Uh, and it's I found it very entertaining.
- 5:08Speaker 2: My uh, my wife and my child had a lot
- 5:11Speaker 2: to beef about it, although they both it'll keep your
- 5:15Speaker 2: attention whether you have problems with it or not. And uh,
- 5:20Speaker 2: I thought, I just thought it was great mainly just
- 5:23Speaker 2: great fun. Sam Rockwell is terrific and it's good and
- 5:28Speaker 2: it's and it's this time travel kind of He's come
- 5:31Speaker 2: back from the future to save the world and he
- 5:37Speaker 2: and he always comes well, he always comes back to
- 5:40Speaker 2: this diner. This is where he always come back. And
- 5:43Speaker 2: he said, this is where I have to recruit the
- 5:45Speaker 2: team to go and save the world. And he said,
- 5:48Speaker 2: you you and you last time you were with me,
- 5:51Speaker 2: you you you fell through. But well I'm giving you
- 5:54Speaker 2: another chance. Come on, and uh, these people don't remember
- 5:58Speaker 2: doing this. And I think he picks the same people
- 6:01Speaker 2: every time. And then there's one guy in the diner
- 6:04Speaker 2: who keeps I'll go and he goes, no, no, no,
- 6:08Speaker 2: you have that limp. No, you know. Anyway, it's quite entertaining.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I think, what is it on Netflix or Hulu. It's
- 6:16Speaker 2: on one of them.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Apparently there are forty seventy millimeter Imax screens, so there's
- 6:24Speaker 1: a lot of Imax screens, but the specific seventy.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Worldwide on twenty nine imax true seventy milimeter Imax forty
- 6:36Speaker 4: five seventy milimeters in the US thirty.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Which have you heard about when he's filming that because
- 6:43Speaker 1: he filmed it in Imax, that he could only film
- 6:47Speaker 1: three minutes at a time.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Is that true?
- 6:49Speaker 4: It's true, and the and the cameras are so loud
- 6:52Speaker 4: apparently that the sound gets picked up sometimes.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Oh yeah, so that's the that's the figure. I heard
- 7:00Speaker 2: forty one Imax theaters in the world with through seventy milimeters.
- 7:03Speaker 1: But you can only film three That whole movie was made, Yeah,
- 7:07Speaker 1: in three minute increments.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Rebecca said that she can you know, spot you know,
- 7:13Speaker 4: but it was that way because when the scenes are
- 7:16Speaker 4: put together, you know, edited together, she can see that.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's it's a different take.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Oh yeah, go see it though, don't well, I plan to,
- 7:29Speaker 3: don't wait.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I think I'll go see it at the Broadway one
- 7:32Speaker 2: of these here days.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I'll go see it.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Yeah, because at the Broadway they have they converted it
- 7:38Speaker 1: to thirty five millimeter film, which is prettyol.
- 7:42Speaker 4: But apparently Toy Story five is the one that's making
- 7:45Speaker 4: all the money.
- 7:46Speaker 3: It's still just still just breaking it in.
- 7:49Speaker 1: But the the Odyssey, I guess at those forty like
- 7:52Speaker 1: true whatever seventy millimeter they have sold tickets for The
- 7:57Speaker 1: Odyssey into September there, that movie is just gonna make
- 8:03Speaker 1: crazy money if they're are selling tickets months away from now.
- 8:07Speaker 2: But I thought, if you go woke, you go broke.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Yeah, that does not happened.
- 8:13Speaker 2: By the way, is there anything woke about this movie?
- 8:15Speaker 1: No? And the stuff that they were saying that, oh,
- 8:19Speaker 1: Elliott Page is Achilles, this takes nobody's Achilles because this
- 8:25Speaker 1: takes place after Achilles dies in Troy, so it's not it.
- 8:29Speaker 3: So it couldn't be. So this is a different character.
- 8:32Speaker 2: What is the character?
- 8:34Speaker 3: I can't remember the name, but it's not.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it's And Elliott Page is great in it, Yeah,
- 8:41Speaker 1: not in it a lot, maybe.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Like for the for the five minutes that they are
- 8:45Speaker 4: in it.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Apparently she they're they're great, fantastic Lapita and Neongo is
- 8:49Speaker 2: only in it for yeah, yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Right, And they're upset because she's.
- 8:53Speaker 2: That's the big complaint that she.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Oh, Helen of Troy is is black lapte and Youngo's gorgeous. Absolutely,
- 9:01Speaker 3: and Helen Troy is supposed.
- 9:03Speaker 2: To be the face that launched a thousand ships.
- 9:05Speaker 3: And that line's in there.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah they should be, and yeah that's she certainly could.
- 9:11Speaker 2: She is absolutely beautiful.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Let's see the smaller camera and three minute time is
- 9:17Speaker 4: because it's a such a small camera. Oh, the character
- 9:21Speaker 4: is a farm boy that is not a soldier, so
- 9:23Speaker 4: that's why he says what he says about his character. Okay,
- 9:29Speaker 4: people who have seen the movie, Yeah, texting in letting
- 9:32Speaker 4: us know what's going on here.
