- 0:12Speaker 1: You can ride or fade.
- 0:13Speaker 2: It is your choice.
- 0:14Speaker 3: But one thing will be consistent all year, and that
- 0:17Speaker 3: is the read that we'll hit in a little bit.
- 0:19Speaker 1: A lot of fun giveaways. A lot of exciting things
- 0:22Speaker 1: for the viewers who comment on this video. Got some
- 0:24Speaker 1: fun surprises in mind for you.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Hey, fake week.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Let's get a round of applause. locker room is filled
- 0:32Speaker 1: with a live studio audience.
- 0:33Speaker 3: The numbers are in and we actually have just as
- 0:36Speaker 3: many people as USC did last week watching this show
- 0:39Speaker 3: right now.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Big hugs to our guests.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Have a great show.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Touchdown! Welcome to week one of the Locker Room, fellas.
- 1:02Speaker 2: We have officially made it to week one of College
- 1:05Speaker 2: Football Talk. Your piss is going to be hot because
- 1:10Speaker 2: there is a FanDuel is doing something incredible for everybody
- 1:14Speaker 2: out there. This is global, fellas. FanDuel is the presenting
- 1:17Speaker 2: sponsor of this show. They're the number one sportsbook in America.
- 1:20Speaker 2: America's number one sportsbook. Before I tell you all of
- 1:24Speaker 2: the goodies about FanDuel, make sure Responsible Gaming, Responsible Gaming,
- 1:28Speaker 2: Responsible Gaming. You can go to FanDuel.com slash play with
- 1:32Speaker 2: a plan or check out the Responsible Gaming section in
- 1:35Speaker 2: the app to learn more. Now, here's what is happening.
- 1:38Speaker 2: College Football Pick'em. There's going to be a tab in
- 1:41Speaker 2: the app. It's going to have the boys we pick
- 1:44Speaker 2: games every week. We're going to have 10 games in
- 1:46Speaker 2: there to where you can pick against us. Those bets
- 1:50Speaker 2: are going to be free. There's going to be a
- 1:52Speaker 2: slate of 10 games. You're going to get 10 free
- 1:55Speaker 2: bets against the spread. If you happen to clip one
- 1:59Speaker 2: of us, you're going to get a profit boost token.
- 2:02Speaker 2: If you are somebody that goes 10 for 10, 9
- 2:04Speaker 2: for 10, if you're part of the top of the leaderboard,
- 2:06Speaker 2: you are going to split a share of bonus bets
- 2:10Speaker 2: of $ 500, 000. What? Did I land that? Did I land that, Jesse?
- 2:15Speaker 2: I can say Jesse's name. We just can't look at him, right? Yes.
- 2:18Speaker 2: We just can't see him. Correct.
- 2:19Speaker 4: May not be here. May not be here.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Conspiracy theorists throughout the entire world. They believe the earth
- 2:25Speaker 3: is flat, 9-11 inside job.
- 2:26Speaker 2: What happened?
- 2:27Speaker 4: That's global. I am now.
- 2:29Speaker 3: A conspiracy theorist that CTU does not exist. Because the
- 2:31Speaker 3: way you just handled that, it's impossible.
- 2:34Speaker 2: You have to be careful saying that. Okay. Hey, we played,
- 2:36Speaker 2: so I think it's all good. It's funny. Yeah, it's funny.
- 2:39Speaker 3: But now I'm on the cusp of like, is it real?
- 2:41Speaker 3: Because the way you just processed the information when the
- 2:43Speaker 3: cameras were cut and then brought it out to the public,
- 2:47Speaker 3: you're fully operational.
- 2:48Speaker 2: But it doesn't seem- You might be better from it.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Doesn't seem like you rehearsed it at all either.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:53Speaker 4: That was first take.
- 2:54Speaker 2: We were trying, yeah, yeah. We were going through it.
- 2:56Speaker 2: A part of me was a little confused, but then
- 2:58Speaker 2: Jesse did an incredible job of articulating what was happening.
- 3:01Speaker 2: And I was like, let's just, let's just get the
- 3:02Speaker 2: fight started.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Because that's what's happening this weekend.
- 3:05Speaker 3: And it shows how much Jesse believes in you because
- 3:06Speaker 3: at the end of your conversation, you told Jesse, stay
- 3:09Speaker 3: by the mic. And Jesse just turned around and walked
- 3:11Speaker 3: back to his seat over there.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Nothing to do with it.
- 3:12Speaker 3: So that's how you know Jesse was like, Wilcoxon has
- 3:14Speaker 3: this in the back. Like Jesse doesn't, he can't speak
- 3:17Speaker 3: on the show, can he?
- 3:18Speaker 4: I don't know that any rules exist. It's just kind
- 3:21Speaker 4: of been made up in the comment section.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Because I was ready to call him Tommy by keeping
- 3:24Speaker 2: him close to the mic because I don't want to
- 3:25Speaker 2: disrespect anything going on at the Josh Bate College football show. Oh,
- 3:28Speaker 2: you were in a tight ship?
- 3:29Speaker 4: Very tight ship.
- 3:31Speaker 2: And you were the only one that- However, Jesse's a conspiracy.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Like nobody even knows if he's real. Jesse is the conspiracy.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Sometimes he walks in the room the way he's dressed.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't know if this man is real. Yeah.
- 3:39Speaker 4: But here's what I want to know. So this means
- 3:41Speaker 4: people have to root for our demise in order to win.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Yes.
- 3:46Speaker 4: That's really what this boils down to.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:47Speaker 4: It's a great way to build camaraderie.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Everybody out there is thinking, all right, Willie C, he's
- 3:53Speaker 2: done for. Right. We're fading him all week. I had
- 3:55Speaker 2: the TCU bet last week. That ended poorly. Josh was
- 3:58Speaker 2: praying for the Hawaii bettors. I did go in on that,
- 4:00Speaker 2: and they lost it in the last drive. They fumbled,
- 4:03Speaker 2: and they took it back to the house to cover four. Yeah.
- 4:07Speaker 2: But again, week zero, those games don't matter. Week zero
- 4:10Speaker 2: does not matter. And you want to know what's crazy.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Tell me. the most rewarding season of your life is
- 4:18Speaker 2: not stopping. With just those fan deals, college football pick-em,
- 4:22Speaker 2: profit boosts, if you beat one of us, getting a
- 4:25Speaker 2: share in a sum of $ 500, 000. We are also doing
- 4:29Speaker 2: giveaways on this show. Every week, the locker room will
- 4:33Speaker 2: be selecting three people from the comment section. Three people, correct?
- 4:38Speaker 2: And again, stay close to the mic if I butcher
- 4:40Speaker 2: any of this, but I am going to the card
- 4:41Speaker 2: on this one. You're going to have a chance to
- 4:44Speaker 2: win FanDuel bonus bets determined by the FanDuel reward board.
- 4:50Speaker 2: All you have to do is leave a comment on
- 4:52Speaker 2: the latest Locker Room video and include your ex-username. Make
- 4:56Speaker 2: sure you're following at FanDuel and have a FanDuel Sportsbook
- 5:00Speaker 2: account so they can reach out to you to win. Again,
- 5:03Speaker 2: we're choosing three supporters. We can't say numbers right now.
- 5:07Speaker 2: We'll have more details for you next week. I promise you.
- 5:11Speaker 2: You are going to want to be involved in this.
- 5:13Speaker 2: We can promise it's a lot. We can promise it's
- 5:16Speaker 2: a good grip. Right. You're going to want to leave comments.
- 5:18Speaker 2: We had 300 plus last week from last week's episode.
- 5:21Speaker 2: You're going to want to be leaving comments. And again,
- 5:23Speaker 2: all you got to do is follow FanDuel, have a
- 5:25Speaker 2: FanDuel account, and drop your ex-username in the comment section.
- 5:29Speaker 2: And also say something nice. Maybe you get a better
- 5:31Speaker 2: chance to win. Who knows? I don't know who's selecting.
- 5:33Speaker 2: It will be randomized, but it's going to be a
- 5:35Speaker 2: lot of fun. Last week we had... There you go. Josh, Taylor,
- 5:39Speaker 2: whoever wants to, because I can't read this one out loud.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Ooh, it seems like a little hate state there.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:44Speaker 4: Dunning-Kruger.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Go ahead and read it, Josh. All right, here we go.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Willie C, these are not my words. These are the
- 5:50Speaker 4: words of Drew Bussomething9176. Willie C is a real-life example
- 5:54Speaker 4: of the Dunning-Kruger effect with his bets. I don't know
- 5:57Speaker 4: if he's at the peak of Mount Stupid or the
- 5:59Speaker 4: Valley of Despair, but I'm here for it.
- 6:02Speaker 2: So Drew is salivating right now. Like, oh, go 10
- 6:04Speaker 2: against the spread, free bets against Willie C to get
- 6:07Speaker 2: some profit-based tokens.
- 6:08Speaker 3: He's just going to watch the show and be like,
- 6:09Speaker 3: whatever Will picks, that's what I'm going to do.
- 6:10Speaker 2: He's going to lose this. We got really... I like
- 6:12Speaker 2: what we got going on.
- 6:14Speaker 3: I don't love the toxic relationship we're putting ourselves in
- 6:17Speaker 3: with the audience.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I really don't.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Luckily, we have Bussin and Pate on campus on Fridays,
- 6:23Speaker 3: two to three.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Eastern time on ESPN. We have that.
- 6:27Speaker 3: So maybe there's an opportunity for the audience to hate
- 6:29Speaker 3: us on Wednesdays. And then Fridays, it's just good vibes.
- 6:32Speaker 3: We sit back, we pretend like all the nasty things
- 6:34Speaker 3: that were said in the comment section. We didn't see
- 6:36Speaker 3: them when we all saw every single one of them.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Yes, Josh Pate.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Alternate theory, since you're into conspiracies. Of course that could happen.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Of course that's the easiest way to go about it.
- 6:44Speaker 4: What if we're a little more bitter and a little
- 6:47Speaker 4: more antagonistic than that? And what if we secretly see
- 6:50Speaker 4: everything bad that's said about us all week and then
- 6:53Speaker 4: we use... the global airwaves of ESPN on Friday to
- 6:57Speaker 4: just flat out attack people who have attacked us. I'm
- 7:00Speaker 4: just saying if that were to happen, there's nothing in
- 7:02Speaker 4: the FCC against that. We get to produce that Friday show.
- 7:06Speaker 4: It's us for an hour. Who knows which direction we
- 7:09Speaker 4: could go? They unfortunately gave us the keys to have
- 7:11Speaker 4: some creative direction.
- 7:13Speaker 3: There is no law that's put in place that says
- 7:14Speaker 3: we can or cannot do that. So basically you're saying
- 7:16Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin is also correcting a lot of these NFL players.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I'm with all of it right now.
- 7:20Speaker 4: Just take your shot with the water gun, but just
- 7:23Speaker 4: know we've got a bazooka on Friday.
- 7:25Speaker 2: I love that. Yeah. Are we ready to rock for Friday?
- 7:27Speaker 1: Yes.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I do have, oh, for Friday? Yeah. Yeah, we're getting close.
- 7:32Speaker 3: I think we're getting close. Hey, we're in game week.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I see that in your face. Like, we're on, it's Wednesday.
- 7:38Speaker 3: We have a padded practice.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Right. There's still some hay to put in the barn.
- 7:41Speaker 2: There's install being going on right now. But excitement is there.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I'm excited for week one. I'm excited for week one
- 7:46Speaker 3: of our show on ESPN. I am looking at the
- 7:49Speaker 3: coaches that we don't have and being like, what's the
- 7:53Speaker 3: game plan this week? And I have 70% of it
- 7:56Speaker 3: in my brain, I'm like, okay, I feel comfortable about 70%
- 7:58Speaker 3: of our show. The other 30%, I believe, I'll bet
- 8:02Speaker 3: on us every single time. Yeah, you're just thinking, is
- 8:04Speaker 3: that situation going to come up in the game? Yeah.
- 8:07Speaker 2: And how are we going to handle it? And I
- 8:08Speaker 2: think we'll handle it with grace. Yeah, yeah.
- 8:09Speaker 3: And in worst case scenario, we got Josh. We can
- 8:13Speaker 3: just sit back and be like, Josh, do something. Say
- 8:15Speaker 3: something poetic.
- 8:16Speaker 2: If it goes like, the way I see this game.
- 8:20Speaker 2: It's a show. and three blinks happen or two blinks happen,
- 8:23Speaker 2: whatever the pause is, that's when you got to know,
- 8:25Speaker 2: I got to get in there and throw a life.
- 8:28Speaker 2: The hamster's officially off of the wheel.
- 8:29Speaker 4: And if I don't jump in four seconds later, our
- 8:33Speaker 4: boy just reverts to, and we'll be right back.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Exactly. Yeah, yeah. Just a random commercial break. Jesse, get
- 8:40Speaker 2: the commercial. I'll just apologize, guys. It's happening. We've got
- 8:43Speaker 2: to go to commercial break. We'll be back right after this.
- 8:44Speaker 3: We were doing our intro on the bus Monday, and
- 8:47Speaker 3: there are things that were coming out of our mouths.
- 8:49Speaker 3: I looked at Will and all the boys in the
- 8:50Speaker 3: back of the bus, and I was like, I can't
- 8:52Speaker 3: believe ESPN has allowed us to be live.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Yeah, that's not Friday quality.
- 8:55Speaker 2: No, no, no. This is Monday stuff. That's Monday stuff.
- 8:57Speaker 3: But you get all the stuff out, and then you
- 8:58Speaker 3: figure out, okay, what did I like from Monday?
- 9:01Speaker 2: None of it. Okay, we'll put that on the show,
- 9:02Speaker 2: and we'll just keep it pushing.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Should we share the information that we had an all-encompassing
- 9:08Speaker 4: Zoom call the other day with an unnamed ESPN executive
- 9:11Speaker 4: and that unnamed ESPN executive was clutching a baseball bat
- 9:14Speaker 4: on the Zoom camera, and it wasn't part of any bit.
- 9:18Speaker 4: He just literally had that much nervous energy about putting
- 9:20Speaker 4: us on air. Should we share that?
- 9:22Speaker 2: We shouldn't share that.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Okay, never mind.
- 9:23Speaker 2: People can tune in.
- 9:25Speaker 3: We also shouldn't talk about the fact that one of
- 9:27Speaker 3: us on the call said, hey, executive, are you nervous
- 9:30Speaker 3: about anything? His words said no, but the eyes were like,
- 9:37Speaker 3: He's really concerned about something. I assume he has a
- 9:39Speaker 3: lot going on. He's probably thinking about.
- 9:41Speaker 2: His production team. Sure. Did this really happen to where
- 9:46Speaker 2: production team, it sounds like you gave them all the
- 9:48Speaker 2: keys and they kind of know some of the answers.
- 9:50Speaker 2: They don't know all of them. For our comfort level here,
- 9:52Speaker 2: what we do at ESPN, I don't know if I'm
- 9:54Speaker 2: fully ready for what could take place on Friday.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Right.
- 9:58Speaker 2: The good news is we'll all find out. Together. Together.
- 10:01Speaker 2: We're all going to find out together. There wouldn't be
- 10:03Speaker 2: two other guys I'd rather do it with.
- 10:04Speaker 4: Same thing they said on the deck of the Titanic, buddy.
- 10:06Speaker 2: We're going to all find out together. God, I can't wait.
- 10:10Speaker 2: We should get into it? We can get into it.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I do have a question for Josh Pate. You might
- 10:15Speaker 2: be curious about it as well. Sure. But we know
- 10:18Speaker 2: Josh Pate and his stance... We're going to be unapologetic
- 10:21Speaker 2: for how much we love college football. One of those seeds,
- 10:25Speaker 2: one of those priorities in the Josh Bate college football
- 10:27Speaker 2: world is the fall wedding season. I have a question
- 10:31Speaker 2: for Josh because we're going to tailor for his kids,
- 10:36Speaker 2: they have a birthday party, a Pokemon Bash. Pokemon collect
- 10:40Speaker 2: them all. On Saturday, it's in the middle of the afternoon.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Would that be considered decision-making time for people who love
- 10:54Speaker 2: college football. If they get invited to said college football
- 10:57Speaker 2: or said Pokemon party.
- 11:01Speaker 4: I guess it really would only boil down to if
- 11:05Speaker 4: the person in questions, alma mater that he started at
- 11:08Speaker 4: left tackle for that, he says he'll die for was
- 11:11Speaker 4: playing a big game that day, but surely Michigan doesn't
- 11:14Speaker 4: have a big game next week. Right? So surely, you know,
- 11:17Speaker 4: they're off or they're playing Western Michigan. Like, Michigan this week.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Surely they don't have a big one next week.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Surely. Now, now, now, now, if I want to just,
- 11:26Speaker 2: if I want to give an op, throw an op. Yeah.
- 11:31Speaker 2: When did you come to realize we had birthday party?
- 11:33Speaker 2: This party was happening on week two of college football.
- 11:36Speaker 2: And what sparked in your brain?
- 11:37Speaker 3: There's multiple things that have been said in the last
- 11:40Speaker 3: 45 seconds that I'd love to respond to.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 11:43Speaker 3: The first thing is, when did you come to know
- 11:45Speaker 3: that this party was going on? I'm sure at some point.
- 11:48Speaker 3: My wife's brought it up to me more than a
- 11:50Speaker 3: dozen times of when this party is going to happen.
- 11:53Speaker 2: It was last week.
- 11:54Speaker 3: This is no fault of Taylor Morgan LeJuan. No fault
- 11:57Speaker 3: of hers. But yesterday, and this will tie into the
- 12:02Speaker 3: last thing you said. Yesterday, I sit there and I'm like, hey, wait,
- 12:05Speaker 3: when is the birthday party? But keep in mind, my kids'
- 12:07Speaker 3: birthdays are in July.
- 12:09Speaker 2: We had a third baby. We pushed it. August came.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I know. There's always a reason to celebrate. There's always
- 12:15Speaker 2: a reason to celebrate.
- 12:16Speaker 3: And it's like, we had to get it. It just
- 12:18Speaker 3: happened to end up on week two of college football.
- 12:21Speaker 3: I go, Taylin, we had a massive issue. We messed
- 12:25Speaker 3: up really bad.
- 12:25Speaker 2: She's like, well, what happened?
- 12:26Speaker 3: I was like, the kids, their birthday party is week
- 12:29Speaker 3: two of college football. She's like, yeah. I was like,
- 12:32Speaker 3: Michigan plays Oklahoma. Like that is, I've said it out loud.
- 12:36Speaker 3: That's the defining game of our season of like where
- 12:38Speaker 3: I can see us going. Like I have to watch
- 12:40Speaker 3: that game. She closes her eyes, takes a deep breath
- 12:44Speaker 3: and puts her hand on my shoulder and goes, that's
- 12:45Speaker 3: why I moved the party to 3 p.m. Because I
- 12:47Speaker 3: know the game's at 11.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Shout out to him. Is that my people?
- 12:55Speaker 3: And the whole party being on a fall, that sucks.
- 13:00Speaker 3: On a fall Saturday, that's a bad move. And you're
- 13:03Speaker 3: kind of cucking my birthday. My birthday's the next week.
- 13:06Speaker 4: That was what I was going to say.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Golly. The next week? Yeah. That was what I was
- 13:10Speaker 2: going to say. Like I'm in birthday month mode right now.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Birthday month?
- 13:13Speaker 3: What are you talking about here? Birthday month is nuts.
- 13:18Speaker 2: But listen. And Jared. Jared's got a birthday. Yeah, tonight.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Tonight.
- 13:24Speaker 2: And Brett. And Brett. What is the point of all this?
- 13:28Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm just bringing those things up. I'm
- 13:30Speaker 2: surprised you're not going to be in attendance.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I am too, but I'll be honest, there's a birthday party.
- 13:38Speaker 3: And I legit, and that was one of those moments
- 13:40Speaker 3: like a month ago, and I was.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Like, hey, when's the party?
- 13:41Speaker 3: Oh, Oklahoma plays, I would love to take the kids
- 13:44Speaker 3: to that. But there's the birthday party. And it didn't
- 13:46Speaker 3: cross my brain that you're doing a massive disservice to
- 13:49Speaker 3: most of the guys who are going to come and
- 13:51Speaker 3: show up. Shout out the boys who don't even have kids,
- 13:53Speaker 3: they're just showing up for the love of the game.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Pretty sure you, you coming Saturday?
- 13:57Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I'm actually going to hold it down for
- 13:58Speaker 4: you up in Michigan. Somebody's got to actually be in
- 14:02Speaker 4: the office.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I thought the audience was going to be nasty. I
- 14:05Speaker 2: thought the audience was going to be nasty on this show. Oh, God.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Just when I thought I got out, too, with the
- 14:10Speaker 3: 11 a.m. kickoff and the 3 p.m. And I'm thinking 1-0.
- 14:14Speaker 3: He comes in and now it's 3-1.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I blinked. That's tough. He just pick-sixed you with that one.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Should we get to the game? There were a couple more,
- 14:23Speaker 2: because this is actually a good question from Drew Simon.
- 14:25Speaker 2: If we miss the Bussin' and Pate live show on Fridays,
- 14:28Speaker 2: can we catch it on YouTube later? I'm not the
- 14:31Speaker 2: guy to ask for that. Nor am I. Yeah, well,
- 14:33Speaker 2: if you guys want to ask Jesse. Don't ask us.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Do we know? Yeah, Jesse and I are going to
- 14:36Speaker 2: both please visit on that right now.
- 14:40Speaker 4: So the answer, Drew.
- 14:41Speaker 2: There are rumors. Can we talk about the rumors? I
- 14:45Speaker 2: don't know if we can go to the rumors yet.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Don't even talk about the rumors.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Okay. Drew, maybe.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Maybe, Drew. We'll find out. Can you watch Get Up
- 14:53Speaker 2: on YouTube after? Clips, like moments. So I want to
- 14:57Speaker 2: say there's probably going to be clips available. Again, great question, Drew.
- 15:01Speaker 2: We will try and figure that out for you. And
- 15:03Speaker 2: then you got TrickDaddy55. The new set is beautiful, boys.
- 15:06Speaker 2: That might be the last nice comment we get on
- 15:08Speaker 2: this show.
- 15:08Speaker 4: For real. Even amongst ourselves, it does look good, though.
- 15:11Speaker 4: It does look good in here.
- 15:12Speaker 2: But that example right there is how you can leave comments.
- 15:14Speaker 2: You leave your ex-username along with having a FanDuel account
- 15:17Speaker 2: and following FanDuel. That's how you can participate in the
- 15:20Speaker 2: details that come for next week. Starting next week, all
- 15:22Speaker 2: the giveaways are going to be doing all season long.
- 15:25Speaker 2: All right.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Okay, I got to stress, we cannot go two and
- 15:28Speaker 4: a half hours.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 4: We cannot let that happen.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Let's get to the actual show. First things first. Okay.
- 15:33Speaker 2: The Ford leaderboard. Just explain the Ford leaderboard. Here's how
- 15:36Speaker 2: we're doing games this year.
- 15:38Speaker 3: This Ford leaderboard segment is presented by Ford. A hard
- 15:41Speaker 3: day's work starts with one thing. Someone willing to do it.
- 15:44Speaker 3: And where there's a will, there's a Ford F-Series truck.
- 15:49Speaker 2: We have... Somebody's calling me. Let me go ahead and
- 15:51Speaker 2: ignore that. Um... It's units-based. Confidence level, one to five.
- 15:56Speaker 2: You get one five-confidence bet every show, right? One five-confidence bet.
- 16:04Speaker 2: And you hit the table. But everything is units-based. So
- 16:07Speaker 2: we're going to be talking about games. If Clemson LSU,
- 16:10Speaker 2: if your confidence level is low, you place one unit
- 16:12Speaker 2: on it. If you love... situation in this Clemson LSU
- 16:16Speaker 2: game and you want to pound the table again you
- 16:18Speaker 2: can pound it one time throughout the show but you
- 16:20Speaker 2: can go up to four units confidence level one to
- 16:23Speaker 2: five but it's all confidence level it's all units based
- 16:25Speaker 2: we'll be tracking it on our I guess it's going
- 16:28Speaker 2: to be a graphic in front of me the four
- 16:29Speaker 2: leaderboard that's taking place the four leaderboard.
- 16:34Speaker 4: So to be clear We are picking the games like
- 16:38Speaker 4: we've always picked them.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 16:39Speaker 4: The only difference is we're attaching a confidence apparatus to it.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 16:43Speaker 4: We can go anywhere from one unit to four units
- 16:45Speaker 4: in confidence, but once per week, we have the option
- 16:48Speaker 4: to bang the table, and that's our five-unit confidence bet. However,
- 16:53Speaker 4: there is risk there because if you lose any of
- 16:56Speaker 4: these bets, you lose the amount of units that you bet.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Yes, sir. Come on now. Yes.
- 17:04Speaker 4: And it's like any game, too.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Like if there is a spread that was minus three
- 17:07Speaker 2: and a half and you wanted to go money line,
- 17:08Speaker 2: you're placing whatever amount of units on that. But you're
- 17:11Speaker 2: obviously taking the minimized risk involved with that. So your units,
- 17:15Speaker 2: all the math will be displayed on this four leaderboard.
- 17:17Speaker 2: I love the idea of this.
- 17:18Speaker 3: I also don't love the pocket I'm in because I
- 17:21Speaker 3: feel more confident about these games than I ever have
- 17:23Speaker 3: in my entire life.
- 17:23Speaker 2: In week one?
- 17:24Speaker 3: I feel more confident than I ever have in my
- 17:26Speaker 3: entire life. I haven't been hurt yet because week zero
- 17:27Speaker 3: doesn't count. So what if I was on TCU last week?
- 17:31Speaker 4: You know you are right about that.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Porn soil. You are right. You having as much confidence
- 17:34Speaker 2: as you have, which one would you like to start with?
- 17:36Speaker 3: Well, we'll start with, I believe the game we're probably
- 17:38Speaker 3: going to. Clemson at LSU. Which one is the real
- 17:42Speaker 3: Death Valley?
- 17:43Speaker 2: Everyone is wondering.
- 17:43Speaker 3: This game will probably decide that. LSU currently is favored
- 17:46Speaker 3: at 10.5 points. Total net game is 50.5.
- 17:53Speaker 2: We're all sitting here thinking Lane Kiffin, right? It seems
- 17:57Speaker 2: like a no-brainer. It feels like a no-brainer. You have
- 18:01Speaker 2: to tread on Saturdays. Don't tread on Saturdays. The only
- 18:05Speaker 2: thing I will not do is tread on Saturdays. Or Dabo.
- 18:06Speaker 4: Are you going to tread on Dabo?
- 18:08Speaker 2: I have so much respect for Dabo.
- 18:10Speaker 4: This is what someone says before you're going to pick
- 18:12Speaker 4: against him.
- 18:12Speaker 3: I have so much respect for Dabo. He's won two
- 18:15Speaker 3: national championships. Clemson was a dumpster fire before. comes in,
- 18:20Speaker 3: does his, you know, fall camp press conferences saying we're
- 18:23Speaker 3: a bunch of nobodies. We will, hopefully we have somebody
- 18:25Speaker 3: at the end of this whole thing. Chris Fazzina, like
- 18:27Speaker 3: the only sample size we have of him, what, 300 yards,
- 18:31Speaker 3: three touchdowns, no interceptions. Kid's been a stud, got two
- 18:34Speaker 3: great wide receivers out there. And it's like, okay, like
- 18:36Speaker 3: maybe there could be something that goes down. But I
- 18:39Speaker 3: sat here last week with LSU pounding the table about
- 18:43Speaker 3: being SEC champs playing against Georgia in that game.
- 18:45Speaker 2: And I'm not going to falter now.
- 18:47Speaker 3: I'm in week one with Sam Levitt, who 49% of
- 18:50Speaker 3: his touchdowns came from pressure with a blitz coming in
- 18:54Speaker 3: his face. Him breaking the pocket, the talent he had
- 18:56Speaker 3: to deal with at ASU. Now he's got a $ 50- plus
- 18:58Speaker 3: million roster around him. Trades Green, who's been in a
- 19:01Speaker 3: gold jacket or a gold jersey, non-contact jersey. Harlan Berry
- 19:05Speaker 3: in the back, five-star. Every wide receiver he'll be throwing
- 19:08Speaker 3: to is an upperclassman, except for Winston Walken Jr., who
- 19:11Speaker 3: might be the best one of all of them. A
- 19:13Speaker 3: defense that absolutely rips. Blake Baker, he was kept on.
- 19:17Speaker 2: So, no.
- 19:18Speaker 3: I will not be picking Clemson.
- 19:20Speaker 2: It's upon the table. I love. I love. No, no, no.
- 19:24Speaker 2: He's the first one. Just first one out of the game. No,
- 19:26Speaker 2: this is the type of stuff that happens. Go ahead,
- 19:27Speaker 2: slam that hand.
- 19:29Speaker 3: I am.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Very excited about this.
- 19:32Speaker 3: People want us to talk about confidence. What about all
- 19:34Speaker 3: the distractions that took place? Distractions are a facade, dude.
- 19:36Speaker 3: It's all a lie now.
- 19:38Speaker 2: What? It's all a lie. Hang on, hang on. I
- 19:39Speaker 2: don't think you can go that far. What? There is
- 19:41Speaker 2: a shit ton of distraction. A facade? What was more distraction?
- 19:44Speaker 3: For LSU right now or Ole Miss in the playoffs?
- 19:47Speaker 3: We would all say Ole Miss in the playoffs. They
- 19:50Speaker 3: handled distractions just fine. They made it to the semifinal game.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Hate to bring up Michigan.
- 19:54Speaker 4: 2023.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Penn State, Ohio State.
- 19:58Speaker 3: No head coach there. A lot of distractions taking place.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Everyone said, oh, they're cheaters or this and that. National champions?
- 20:04Speaker 2: If I could just push back on those two, those
- 20:06Speaker 2: were also two teams that had a lot of continuity.
- 20:09Speaker 2: They played together like they understood who they were going
- 20:12Speaker 2: into these big moments for the rest of the year.
- 20:14Speaker 2: This is, I mean, yeah, LSU is going to be
- 20:16Speaker 2: very good this year. They have the potential to be
- 20:18Speaker 2: studs in the SEC. but there are a lot of transfers.
- 20:21Speaker 2: There's a lot of moving pieces, a lot of first
- 20:23Speaker 2: year moments with this team playing together, a lot of studs.
- 20:27Speaker 2: I'm just saying, I feel like distraction wise, like that
- 20:29Speaker 2: element compared to the two examples you brought up, like they're,
- 20:32Speaker 2: you know, They're a little different. I love the analogy,
- 20:35Speaker 2: but I'm like, those two teams also played together. But
- 20:37Speaker 2: there's a sample size for all the things you brought up.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Talk about Texas Tech. Look at last year.
- 20:42Speaker 3: They had 45 transfers last year. Everyone's like, oh, how
- 20:44Speaker 3: are you going to get a team to have continuity?
- 20:46Speaker 3: Best team sport in the entire world.
- 20:47Speaker 4: Playing the Big 12.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Yeah, playing the Big 12.
- 20:49Speaker 4: No, no, that's how. Just playing the Big 12.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Oh, you're saying just because you play in the Bay 12?
- 20:52Speaker 4: I'm saying it helped.
- 20:54Speaker 2: It helped for sure.
- 20:55Speaker 4: This is Dabo Swinney. This is a two-time national champion.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that's great.
- 20:58Speaker 4: This is great culture.
- 21:00Speaker 3: This is a team that had nine draft picks last
- 21:02Speaker 3: year and what, seven and five?
- 21:03Speaker 2: What were they? Seven and five. Yeah, but who's counting?
- 21:07Speaker 2: Says J.P.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Hovey, Gamecock enthusiast.
- 21:11Speaker 2: That vein was climbing. I'd like to see that vein
- 21:13Speaker 2: continue to come out.
- 21:14Speaker 4: All I'm saying is they couldn't run the ball last year,
- 21:17Speaker 4: so they've emphasized it. Neither could LSU, by the way,
- 21:19Speaker 4: but you're just magically convinced that they can run the ball. Clemson,
- 21:23Speaker 4: famously resistant to the portal, went and got two starting
- 21:26Speaker 4: safeties in a corner. They can actually run sub 5.0 40s,
- 21:29Speaker 4: and now they start back there, so maybe they can
- 21:31Speaker 4: defend the pass a little bit better. It's just you're
- 21:34Speaker 4: really quick to discount a legend, is what I'm saying.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Oh, guys, don't put me in this.
- 21:38Speaker 3: I started the thing by saying I have so much
- 21:40Speaker 3: respect for Dabo. Did I not start with that?
- 21:42Speaker 4: Sounds like you have a respect for Dabo's Wikipedia page,
- 21:45Speaker 4: but you have respect for what Dabo was, but it
- 21:48Speaker 4: doesn't sound like you're in love with what Dabo is and, frankly,
- 21:52Speaker 4: still could be.
- 21:53Speaker 3: I have so much respect for the delusion of Dabo Sweeney.
- 21:57Speaker 3: And I think every great, every great athlete, every great
- 22:00Speaker 3: competitor needs to have a level of delusion where he
- 22:03Speaker 3: goes in and the messaging is amazing.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Guys, everyone's sleeping on us. No one's picking us on
- 22:07Speaker 2: the ACC. We suck. Last time this happened, we won
- 22:10Speaker 2: it all. We were unranked. All the things.
- 22:12Speaker 3: The OC that was there back then, he's back here now.
- 22:15Speaker 3: We're going to do all these amazing things.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Tosh Boyd, the QB coach? Yeah.
- 22:19Speaker 3: When it comes to LSU, it's like, yeah, LSU couldn't
- 22:21Speaker 3: win the ball last year. So they got eight transfers
- 22:23Speaker 3: and the number one transfer guy in the portal in Seton.
- 22:25Speaker 3: And so they're putting a massive emphasis on that. The
- 22:28Speaker 3: only question mark you really have on their defense is
- 22:30Speaker 3: their interior defensive line. And they were two five-star guys.
- 22:34Speaker 3: One was the number one defensive lineman in the country
- 22:36Speaker 3: as a prospect. The other one was the number one athlete.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Oh, so you're saying they're starting multiple true freshmen up front.
- 22:41Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. Multiple. Two is multiple. When the
- 22:44Speaker 2: crowd is rocking, which it will be in Death Valley.
- 22:46Speaker 2: In the middle. What's that?
- 22:48Speaker 3: They got a safety from Boise State, who people are saying,
- 22:50Speaker 3: first-round pick type of guy.
- 22:52Speaker 2: They have athletes all over the field.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Clemson has great wide receivers. But I'm going to take
- 22:58Speaker 3: Sam Levitt over Chris Fazzina in a shootout if that's
- 23:01Speaker 3: what it comes down to. I'm going to take more
- 23:02Speaker 3: talent over a team that doesn't have as much talent,
- 23:05Speaker 3: just plain and simple. You look at it, you put
- 23:07Speaker 3: a line in the middle, who's better on both sides
- 23:10Speaker 3: of the ball? LSU wins that. Lane Kiffin... They want
- 23:14Speaker 3: to talk about what happened last year with Ole Miss
- 23:15Speaker 3: and how he had all these transfer guys and all
- 23:18Speaker 3: this money put on the team. But when he got
- 23:19Speaker 3: to Ole Miss, he didn't have that. And they were
- 23:21Speaker 3: still a top five offense in the SEC. So it's
- 23:24Speaker 3: like as much as Lane Kiffin is this polarizing figure,
- 23:27Speaker 3: he's still a hell of a head coach.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Yes, sir. Has he won a NUTS championship? No. Yep.
- 23:32Speaker 4: So last year, speaking of the comment section, some people
- 23:35Speaker 4: thought that you may have folded under pressure when people
- 23:37Speaker 4: really pressed you on the points you were making. I
- 23:40Speaker 4: don't know if you read the comments, but some people
- 23:41Speaker 4: said that.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Was that your burner or something?
- 23:44Speaker 4: Bottom line is that's what the comments said.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Okay.
- 23:46Speaker 4: So I really thought it was important. In fact, a
- 23:48Speaker 4: lot of us thought it was important for someone on
- 23:50Speaker 4: the set to press you really early this year. Because
- 23:52Speaker 4: what I think is, I think you made some phenomenal points.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 23:55Speaker 4: I agree on most of them. But I'm not taking
- 23:58Speaker 4: the other side. Because I don't really feel good about
- 24:00Speaker 4: a side at all. I kind of think the number's right.
- 24:02Speaker 4: I kind of think LSU by somewhere between 8 and 12,
- 24:06Speaker 4: 10 and a half kind of splits that. I'm looking
- 24:09Speaker 4: at the under. The under at 50 and a half
- 24:12Speaker 4: is what I kind of like here. Because I could definitely,
- 24:16Speaker 4: definitely see a world where Clemson cannot get any traction offensively.
- 24:21Speaker 4: And it's like 30 to six, weird kind of game.
- 24:24Speaker 4: I could see a game where I could see Clemson
- 24:26Speaker 4: winning the game because it's week one. So anything could happen.
- 24:28Speaker 4: But if Clemson won the game, it would be a
- 24:29Speaker 4: lower scoring game. So that's in my pocket. And then
- 24:32Speaker 4: the third one is I could kind of see LSU
- 24:35Speaker 4: just sputtering out of the gate a little bit. And
- 24:36Speaker 4: it's this weird LSU shooting itself in the foot, Clemson
- 24:41Speaker 4: limiting possessions, grinding out some drives. They can move the
- 24:45Speaker 4: sticks a little bit because they got younger guys up
- 24:47Speaker 4: front for LSU defensively. And it's just, it's an LSU win.
- 24:52Speaker 4: But it's kind of an unconvincing win. You feel like
- 24:54Speaker 4: they left a lot on the table and it's like
- 24:56Speaker 4: 23 to 16. So I think there's a lot of
- 25:00Speaker 4: under potential here. So I do lean LSU to win
- 25:02Speaker 4: the game. I don't know that I lean them to
- 25:04Speaker 4: cover necessarily. I love under 50 and a half.
- 25:07Speaker 2: That's a good pick. Where are you at with the units?
- 25:12Speaker 2: Down the table, Josh.
- 25:14Speaker 4: Klump, we can't do half units, right?
- 25:15Speaker 3: No half units.
- 25:16Speaker 4: Two units.
- 25:18Speaker 2: So you were trying to do a half unit.
- 25:20Speaker 4: I feel it's a solid two and a half, but
- 25:22Speaker 4: since I can't do that, we're going to yield to
- 25:24Speaker 4: the under in week one and I will go two units.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Fortune favors the bull. Give me three units. Where are you?
- 25:29Speaker 2: Three units.
- 25:30Speaker 4: On LSU minus 10 and a half.
- 25:31Speaker 3: Yes.
- 25:31Speaker 2: I feel really good about it. Really good about it.
- 25:36Speaker 2: But can I just say one thing? You're in mid-season form.
- 25:40Speaker 4: I'm making you better.
- 25:42Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 25:43Speaker 3: You've made me better on the show. There's no doubt
- 25:44Speaker 3: about that. But for you to come at me and
- 25:46Speaker 3: then me defend myself and then you go, good job, son.
- 25:51Speaker 2: It was kind of bullshit.
- 25:53Speaker 3: And I feel like that had to be said that
- 25:54Speaker 3: that was kind of crazy the way you did it. Somehow,
- 25:58Speaker 3: once again, bulletproof paint comes in, comes at me. I
- 26:02Speaker 3: defend myself and you're like, good job out there.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Love what you did there. The clock goes to zero.
- 26:06Speaker 2: And you're like, nice work.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Pat me on the ass and got out.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Sounds like you're saying we're in mid-season form. Maybe.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Which leads us to the third pick in this game.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I think I'm going confidence meter is a one.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Confidence meter a one unit. And I'm going to take
- 26:22Speaker 3: Clemson plus 10 and a half.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Why? It's a long shot. But if... It's a point spread. Hey,
- 26:31Speaker 2: what the hell is that? It's a long shot. But
- 26:33Speaker 2: if Clemson is going to win this game, they're going
- 26:37Speaker 2: to have to be able to run the football. No,
- 26:39Speaker 2: they did not do a good job of it last year.
- 26:41Speaker 2: But I see a world where LSU comes in. It's
- 26:44Speaker 2: like last week, you know, I'm not comparing TCU to LSU.
- 26:49Speaker 2: But last week in the North Carolina TCU game, like TCU,
- 26:52Speaker 2: they have more talent. They outmatch North Carolina. But North
- 26:55Speaker 2: Carolina able to run the football, play a clean game,
- 26:58Speaker 2: traveling across seas and only having two penalties. And TCU
- 27:02Speaker 2: staying in there shooting themselves in the foot with 10
- 27:04Speaker 2: plus penalties. I could see that sporadic game from LSU
- 27:08Speaker 2: for as much as like, you know, it couldn't be
- 27:10Speaker 2: a shootout, could it not? So some of those drives
- 27:12Speaker 2: just end early because of the uncharacteristic things that LSU
- 27:16Speaker 2: is kind of doing to themselves. A lot of true
- 27:19Speaker 2: freshmen in there where I don't feel good with betting on, again,
- 27:22Speaker 2: that's one of my confidence meters. One, but I am
- 27:24Speaker 2: going to go Clemson plus 10.5 because I feel like
- 27:26Speaker 2: the line is long. Having underclassmen on your offensive line,
- 27:30Speaker 2: a lot of these newer faces on Clemson's line of scrimmage, dude,
- 27:33Speaker 2: it is going to be so loud at Death Valley.
- 27:38Speaker 2: And just to play into the true freshmen starting on
- 27:40Speaker 2: the interior front of LSU, dude, you know how chaotic
- 27:43Speaker 2: it is when you are out there playing. Like you
- 27:46Speaker 2: being on offense, but it's extremely loud to where you're
- 27:49Speaker 2: trying to get, whether it's... a cadence, you're trying to
- 27:53Speaker 2: make a shift, you're trying to kill a play. But defensively,
- 27:57Speaker 2: if a wide motion happens, you've got to kick the
- 28:00Speaker 2: front or you've got to change a blitz or you've
- 28:01Speaker 2: got to get out of a blitz or you're doing
- 28:03Speaker 2: a coverage check to a formation. With these younger defensive
- 28:08Speaker 2: linemen and the young cats that they have playing on
- 28:10Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage for LSU, I could see that
- 28:13Speaker 2: being an issue to where if Clemson, again, all the firepower,
- 28:17Speaker 2: all the talent, all of that stuff favors LSU. But
- 28:21Speaker 2: you know, as a player, as you're going into the
- 28:23Speaker 2: foxhole of this game, which I feel like Dabo's probably,
- 28:26Speaker 2: I'm just assuming based on the way he is culture wise,
- 28:29Speaker 2: you're going into this game knowing like nobody is fucking
- 28:32Speaker 2: picking us to win. But we're going to go one
- 28:35Speaker 2: play at a time, one series at a time. Don't
- 28:36Speaker 2: get caught up in shootouts. Don't get caught up in
- 28:39Speaker 2: trying to play catcher. Don't do any of that. Let's
- 28:41Speaker 2: just go one play at a time. And if you
- 28:43Speaker 2: can clip these guys from four yards at a time
- 28:46Speaker 2: to where you have third and manageable, you can make
- 28:48Speaker 2: this a game going into halftime. Then you're in a
- 28:51Speaker 2: fist fight in the third quarter to where who knows
- 28:53Speaker 2: what it's going to be in the fourth quarter. Could
- 28:55Speaker 2: it flip the other way and LSU runs them? Yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 2: But I love to believe. And Clemson walking in their
- 29:01Speaker 2: backs against the wall with all of the mess going
- 29:04Speaker 2: on around LSU. All the distractions all offseason leading into
- 29:09Speaker 2: this week one. We don't even know if they're going
- 29:10Speaker 2: to get these NFL players. Like that's going to be
- 29:12Speaker 2: decided tomorrow. So I'm going to go Clemson plus and
- 29:16Speaker 2: a half. And my confidence meter is a one. But
- 29:18Speaker 2: just trying to paint the picture of how Clemson goes
- 29:20Speaker 2: in there and either keeps the game close or even
- 29:23Speaker 2: get it done. And there's chaos week one of college football.
- 29:26Speaker 4: Man, that's the way you want the game of the
- 29:29Speaker 4: week pick to go. You got people on opposite sides,
- 29:32Speaker 4: someone bailing and just taking a total. No agreement whatsoever.
- 29:35Speaker 4: That's how it should be. That's how it should be.
- 29:38Speaker 3: It's a great start to the show. I just have
- 29:40Speaker 3: a hard time thinking LSU is not going to be
- 29:42Speaker 3: what Lane Kiffin's offense has been since he's forever. He's
- 29:46Speaker 3: always been successful. And you have an operation distraction. It's like,
- 29:50Speaker 3: they don't really have that. They've never really had like
- 29:52Speaker 3: an undisciplined team. And that he has more talent than
- 29:55Speaker 3: he's ever had in his entire life.
- 29:56Speaker 2: You're right. And Kiffin and like both stats, very experienced,
- 30:00Speaker 2: but dude, we're going to be standing there when the
- 30:02Speaker 2: ball kicks off and the crowd is going to be deafening.
- 30:06Speaker 2: And it's just, it's a different element when all the
- 30:08Speaker 2: bullets are flying and you're running through the sideline, maybe
- 30:10Speaker 2: you messed something up. Maybe you're a younger player and
- 30:12Speaker 2: it kind of gets into your psyche. Maybe you're just
- 30:14Speaker 2: missing calls. All the yelling that takes place and goes on,
- 30:17Speaker 2: like it's going to be chaos, bro. And it's going
- 30:19Speaker 2: to be who handles it the best.
- 30:20Speaker 4: Wait a second. Have you been to a game at LSU?
- 30:23Speaker 2: Yes. At night? Yes, when we were at the LSU-Florida game.
- 30:26Speaker 4: Okay, so you know what you're in store for.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:28Speaker 4: Okay, I got you. Because a lot of people haven't
- 30:31Speaker 4: been down there and they haven't experienced that. And they
- 30:33Speaker 4: think sometimes, oh, this night game at LSU thing, night
- 30:36Speaker 4: time in Death Valley gets overhyped a little bit.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Nope.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Loud.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Especially this one right here is going to be insane.
- 30:44Speaker 2: The expectation is going to be so high for Len. Yeah.
- 30:47Speaker 3: To where, Club brought this up earlier this morning. It's like,
- 30:51Speaker 3: I see the moment of, It's the first quarter. Sam
- 30:54Speaker 3: Levitt just threw for a second touchdown, third touchdown, whatever
- 30:57Speaker 3: it is.
- 30:57Speaker 2: They're up.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Three.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Three.
- 30:59Speaker 3: And Lane's got the visor on just hitting him with
- 31:01Speaker 3: one of these. We're going to keep it fucking going, boys.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Yeah. We're not slowing down here. He loves it, dude.
- 31:07Speaker 3: He is an agent of chaos and he's all about it.
- 31:10Speaker 3: And the anger and the hate fuels him.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Hey. It fuels him.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Hey.
- 31:15Speaker 4: What if that attitude persists, but that Clemson secondary really
- 31:19Speaker 4: is upgraded and they've already taken two of them back
- 31:21Speaker 4: to the house and it's Dabo looking across the field saying,
- 31:25Speaker 4: keep doing it. Keep trying, bud.
- 31:26Speaker 2: That would be elite. Yeah.
- 31:28Speaker 3: I mean, I would sit back and be like, yeah,
- 31:30Speaker 3: I look like an idiot in the locker room, but
- 31:31Speaker 3: this is awesome.
- 31:32Speaker 2: This is what you want to see. This is cinema
- 31:34Speaker 2: taking place. We interrupt this episode to bring you and
- 31:37Speaker 2: shout out Neutral. Neutral tastes great and tastes so much
- 31:40Speaker 2: better than what else is out there. Neutral is made
- 31:42Speaker 2: with real vodka and real juice. That's what makes it delicious.
- 31:45Speaker 2: A couple flavors in their Rolodex, pineapple, watermelon. They have
- 31:47Speaker 2: new flavors, lime, and strawberry. They are perfect for social occasions.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Think beach with friends, an outdoor bar, on the lake
- 31:55Speaker 2: at a music festival, watching ball with the boys. It's
- 31:58Speaker 2: the perfect time of year to grab a 12-pack of
- 32:00Speaker 2: Neutral for the beach or grab a bucket deal in
- 32:03Speaker 2: your favorite bar to celebrate summer and celebrate football. Neutral,
- 32:07Speaker 2: keep it tasty. Where are we headed to next, Willie?
- 32:10Speaker 2: Let's kick it to Wisconsin-Notre Dame. Playing at Lambeau. Notre
- 32:15Speaker 2: Dame favored by 20.5 points against Wisconsin. The total on
- 32:20Speaker 2: this game, the over-under, is 47.5. 20.5 is a lot.
- 32:25Speaker 2: 20.5 is a lot of points.
- 32:27Speaker 4: Not enough.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Not enough. I agree with that statement.
- 32:31Speaker 3: But you've said statements to me before, and I've read
- 32:32Speaker 3: it a certain way, and I've been wrong per our
- 32:35Speaker 3: text a couple weeks ago. So are you saying Notre
- 32:39Speaker 3: Dame needs more points?
- 32:41Speaker 4: I am saying I would lay up to like 26
- 32:44Speaker 4: with Notre Dame.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Talk to me. I love that.
- 32:47Speaker 4: I hate the spot for Wisconsin. And as you guys know,
- 32:49Speaker 4: because we did our preview episode a couple of weeks ago,
- 32:52Speaker 4: I'm not even down on Wisconsin. I don't think Fickle's
- 32:54Speaker 4: going to get fired. And if he did, I would
- 32:56Speaker 4: take him tomorrow. I think he's a really good coach.
- 32:58Speaker 4: I just hate the spot. They're not healthy on the
- 33:00Speaker 4: offensive line. They'll probably get some guys back. But I
- 33:02Speaker 4: think we're playing the long game there, the smart long game.
- 33:06Speaker 4: I think Wisconsin is going to get buried in this game.
- 33:09Speaker 4: I could not find a path, and trust me, I tried. Also,
- 33:12Speaker 4: you sometimes think, oh, well, don't you want to pace yourself?
- 33:15Speaker 4: This is the kind of game where if you know
- 33:17Speaker 4: you got it in the bag, it could be 23-6
- 33:20Speaker 4: final and Notre Dame. No, there's none of that. Notre
- 33:23Speaker 4: Dame has limited opportunities to get big resume moments this
- 33:26Speaker 4: year because they have a soft schedule. So they know
- 33:29Speaker 4: that they've got to put their foot on the throat
- 33:31Speaker 4: when they can. Also, This is the first time that
- 33:35Speaker 4: you will have seen Notre Dame since some people think
- 33:38Speaker 4: they got screwed out of a playoff spot. They are
- 33:41Speaker 4: the some people.
- 33:42Speaker 2: That's just fact.
- 33:43Speaker 4: Not the only people, but they are the some people.
- 33:45Speaker 4: I think they're going to run it up. Wisconsin's going
- 33:48Speaker 4: to have a very, very tough time moving the ball.
- 33:51Speaker 4: So I'm taking Notre Dame minus 20 and a half.
- 33:53Speaker 4: I'm actually putting three units on it. Yeah.
- 33:59Speaker 2: A new PR. Yeah. You got a new PR. New PR, yeah.
- 34:02Speaker 3: I love everything you said about that. I think Marcus
- 34:05Speaker 3: Freeman understands the politics of what takes place when it
- 34:08Speaker 3: comes to the college football playoffs. Towards the end of
- 34:11Speaker 3: the year last year, they started to figure it out
- 34:12Speaker 3: where they would run up on Pitt and all those
- 34:14Speaker 3: other schools. And so you look at Wisconsin, and I'm
- 34:16Speaker 3: sure in 2012 or 2014, whenever this game was scheduled,
- 34:20Speaker 3: all of us college fans were salivating like, oh, this
- 34:22Speaker 3: is going to be an awesome matchup.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Get to it. It's like Luke.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Fickle's fighting for his job. One roster is much better
- 34:28Speaker 3: than the other. There's very little holes, if any, on
- 34:30Speaker 3: Notre Dame. And they understand that if Wisconsin can go
- 34:34Speaker 3: in the Big Ten and win four or five games,
- 34:36Speaker 3: then they look a whole lot better when they donkey
- 34:39Speaker 3: stomp them. So when it gets to, is the line,
- 34:42Speaker 3: are they winning by 21? Are they winning by 18?
- 34:44Speaker 3: They run it up. They look at CJ Carr. They
- 34:47Speaker 3: give him the nod and he throws a deep bomb
- 34:49Speaker 3: in the fourth. Fickle's pissed. Wisconsin fans are pissed. All
- 34:52Speaker 3: of Green Bay is pissed because that's where they're playing.
- 34:54Speaker 3: But Marcus just knows, like, it's not you. It's just
- 34:56Speaker 3: we need the scalp to show off when we go
- 34:59Speaker 3: into the college football playoff.
- 35:00Speaker 2: And we've been, like, we've sat with Coach Freeman. We
- 35:02Speaker 2: were around there this offseason. Like, we've all sat and
- 35:04Speaker 2: had conversations with Coach Freeman. Like, he's got it. Like, culture, like,
- 35:09Speaker 2: these boys are going to be focused going in here. Like, again,
- 35:11Speaker 2: to me, this is the best defense in college football. Again,
- 35:14Speaker 2: Tay Johnson, Shula, Jalen Sneed, Kingston, Bubakar on the defensive line. Like,
- 35:20Speaker 2: they have first round. They have blue chippers everywhere, man.
- 35:23Speaker 2: and their O-line is gonna be nasty. Their one question mark,
- 35:26Speaker 2: which I'm excited to watch this weekend, is who's gonna
- 35:29Speaker 2: show up in the wide receiver room in their skill positions,
- 35:31Speaker 2: who's gonna be the next running back, because their offensive
- 35:32Speaker 2: line is great. CJ Carr is gonna be a stud
- 35:35Speaker 2: this year. I like it, my confidence level is more
- 35:37Speaker 2: at a two for them to cover just because the spread,
- 35:40Speaker 2: the number is 20 and a half, but I love
- 35:42Speaker 2: Notre Dame. I think Notre Dame's gonna have a hell
- 35:44Speaker 2: of a year.
- 35:45Speaker 3: I'll stick with you on three. I think you brought
- 35:46Speaker 3: up a lot of good things. Another one to mention
- 35:48Speaker 3: is we've played bump out, knockout with CJ Carver.
- 35:51Speaker 2: We've done, we've played basketball with these guys.
- 35:53Speaker 3: Something so simple as like, hey, we're gonna have a
- 35:55Speaker 3: fun little game. We're all kind of getting to know
- 35:56Speaker 3: each other. The kid's eyes, the minute Ryan Nolan had
- 36:00Speaker 3: him on the ropes for a second, it's like he
- 36:03Speaker 3: only cares about winning. It doesn't matter if it's the
- 36:05Speaker 3: smallest game in the world or the national championship. This
- 36:07Speaker 3: kid is special.
- 36:08Speaker 2: And just going off just a small sample of playing knockout,
- 36:12Speaker 2: all of the guys that showed up for that, like
- 36:16Speaker 2: the team continuity that it feels like Notre Dame does have,
- 36:19Speaker 2: because whether fact or not of them getting squeezed, like
- 36:22Speaker 2: they went through something together to where this locker room
- 36:24Speaker 2: is very much intact, a lot of returning starters. They're
- 36:27Speaker 2: out to take everything this season. It's going to start,
- 36:30Speaker 2: in my opinion, with Wisconsin out in Lambeau Field. So
- 36:34Speaker 2: I'm too confident. You guys are both three. Notre Dame
- 36:36Speaker 2: to cover. There you go. That's going to be one
- 36:38Speaker 2: on the college football pick-em, where if you feel like
- 36:40Speaker 2: Wisconsin's going to cover, you can be salivating right now. Salivating.
- 36:44Speaker 2: AAA stat, OG AAA stat just took place. Where do
- 36:47Speaker 2: you want to move it to now? I think we
- 36:49Speaker 2: should go to Louisville Ole Miss.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Louisville minus six, or sorry, Ole Miss is favored at
- 36:55Speaker 3: minus six and a half. Total points in the game
- 36:57Speaker 3: is 55 and a half.
- 36:59Speaker 4: You know I love our city.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 37:01Speaker 4: I love Nashville. Stupidest thing in the world, this game's
- 37:04Speaker 4: in Nashville.
- 37:05Speaker 2: I agree.
- 37:06Speaker 4: Got a great home campus stadium up the road in Louisville.
- 37:10Speaker 4: Got a great one, iconic venue down the road in Oxford.
- 37:14Speaker 4: And we're playing this thing in the last vestiges of
- 37:17Speaker 4: Nissan Stadium before it's rubble.
- 37:19Speaker 2: It's a disgrace. Yeah. Should never have taken place.
- 37:22Speaker 4: Game should be good, though. Game should be good.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I need somebody. Do what? Do you think the game
- 37:27Speaker 2: should be good? No. Yeah. I think the line on
- 37:33Speaker 2: this game is way too close. Yeah, I like Ole
- 37:36Speaker 2: Miss a lot. Where Louisville is, what they do well,
- 37:42Speaker 2: especially based off last year, like Lincoln kind of holds
- 37:44Speaker 2: like we can get into that. They have a very
- 37:46Speaker 2: good athlete and quarterback. What they did well last year,
- 37:50Speaker 2: They run the ball well. They're front seven as far
- 37:52Speaker 2: as stopping the run. I just– I look at both
- 37:54Speaker 2: of these teams. I just think they're out– they're just
- 37:56Speaker 2: outmatched against Ole Miss. Like let's talk about– you guys
- 38:00Speaker 2: want to get into some meat, some beef?
- 38:02Speaker 4: I love meat.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Talk to me about beef. I'm not even going to
- 38:04Speaker 2: say names. Like look at these– look at the statistics,
- 38:07Speaker 2: the weigh-in, the height of the D lineman for Ole Miss.
- 38:11Speaker 1: 6'3.
- 38:11Speaker 2: 315, 65340, 65355, 62315. When we were talking about the
- 38:19Speaker 2: interior of the D line for LSU, like these guys
- 38:21Speaker 2: are tipping the scale around 280. We have beef up front.
- 38:25Speaker 2: Not to mention Perkins coming back. Is it Ferrelli? Ferarli?
- 38:30Speaker 4: Luke Ferrelli.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Ferrelli. Knock your stuff stiff. I don't want to say
- 38:34Speaker 2: anything to get his age verified. Wow, Kitschel. Yeah, Kitschel
- 38:36Speaker 2: will knock your stuff stiff. Nice. Nice. Um, I, dude,
- 38:40Speaker 2: I like best quarterback running back duo in the country.
- 38:42Speaker 2: A lot of firepower offensively. Um, I just, I like
- 38:47Speaker 2: Ole Miss. I don't see now here is how Louisville
- 38:51Speaker 2: can just, the X factor is Lincoln. kind holds, but
- 38:54Speaker 2: not for passing or anything else. Jeff Brom, he works
- 38:56Speaker 2: with quarterbacks. This dude's a guru. Nine plus wins every year.
- 39:00Speaker 2: This is a phenomenal head coach. If Lincoln can run
- 39:04Speaker 2: the football, that's kind of the X factor. If you
- 39:06Speaker 2: keep this defense, this front seven on their toes, it's
- 39:10Speaker 2: the quarterback play that comes involved in the run game.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Because we saw with Virginia against NC State last week,
- 39:15Speaker 2: you have some wrinkles in there that you haven't necessarily
- 39:17Speaker 2: seen that could keep Ole Miss at bay. But if not,
- 39:20Speaker 2: this could be a potential Josh Bates splattering tweet?
- 39:26Speaker 4: I have not found many people who have made a
- 39:29Speaker 4: career a successful career, off picking against Jeff Braum in
- 39:33Speaker 4: big games. He was good at punching up at Purdue.
- 39:36Speaker 4: He's three and two against top 12 teams straight up
- 39:39Speaker 4: at Louisville. So he's good to pull these upsets. They'll
- 39:42Speaker 4: lose a game they have no business losing, but they
- 39:44Speaker 4: beat Miami last year. So they've been in these spots
- 39:47Speaker 4: where we could sit there and look at each other
- 39:48Speaker 4: and say, how's Louisville going to win this game? So
- 39:51Speaker 4: Jeff Brom's been a big X factor. Don't like that
- 39:53Speaker 4: they have a defensive coordinator calling this first game against
- 39:55Speaker 4: Trinidad Chambliss. Don't love that. But I do think you
- 40:00Speaker 4: were painting the path to, well, how would Louisville do this?
- 40:02Speaker 4: I think the way they would do it is he's
- 40:04Speaker 4: finally got a guy, a quarterback, who he could utilize
- 40:07Speaker 4: in the ground game. He hadn't had that last few years.
- 40:09Speaker 4: They have 174 carries from minus 12 at the QB
- 40:13Speaker 4: spot last three years, sack yardage included. But still, he
- 40:16Speaker 4: hadn't been able to incorporate that. I think in his
- 40:18Speaker 4: perfect world, he would love to incorporate that. Isaac Brown's
- 40:21Speaker 4: one of the best tailbacks there. So you actually have
- 40:23Speaker 4: two really good QB running back tandems here One of
- 40:27Speaker 4: them is properly rated at Ole Miss. This one may
- 40:30Speaker 4: be underrated for all we know, but I love the
- 40:33Speaker 4: interior of the Ole Miss offensive line because they return
- 40:36Speaker 4: guys there, and I think they match up really well.
- 40:38Speaker 4: When you factor in Trinidad Chambliss, what he can do
- 40:40Speaker 4: on the ground, Kiwan Lacy there, it just feels like
- 40:43Speaker 4: there's so many ways for Ole Miss to win this.
- 40:46Speaker 4: And maybe if you're siding with Louisville, maybe you're thinking
- 40:50Speaker 4: Louisville's got a chance to be sneaky here. Like Louisville,
- 40:53Speaker 4: maybe people aren't taking them seriously. People may not be.
- 40:56Speaker 4: I think Ole Miss is. I don't think this is
- 40:58Speaker 4: sneaking up on Ole Miss at all. I think they've
- 41:00Speaker 4: got the proper respect for the opponent. Not to mention,
- 41:03Speaker 4: I think they'll probably smoke almost anyone who was put
- 41:06Speaker 4: across from them in week one this year just because
- 41:08Speaker 4: they're finally ready to play a game instead of talking
- 41:10Speaker 4: about all the stuff they've had to talk about. So
- 41:12Speaker 4: I agree with you. How many units did you put
- 41:13Speaker 4: on this?
- 41:13Speaker 2: I'm going four spot.
- 41:14Speaker 4: You're going four spot.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Oh, wow. New record high in the locker room. Four spot.
- 41:19Speaker 2: New record high. Thank you, guys.
- 41:20Speaker 4: That is a personal record.
- 41:21Speaker 2: That's a record for all of us technically right now. Yep.
- 41:24Speaker 4: I'm going to go with a three on Ole Miss.
- 41:27Speaker 4: I'm going to tie a personal record and I'm going
- 41:29Speaker 4: to go three on Ole Miss laying the six.
- 41:30Speaker 2: And a half. Yep.
- 41:33Speaker 3: I agree with you guys on the Ole Miss. I
- 41:35Speaker 3: think Jeff Brom is quietly making an ACC contender.
- 41:38Speaker 2: He's never lost. He's always won. Nine plus. At least
- 41:42Speaker 2: nine plus. Yeah, they're going to be. Every single year.
- 41:44Speaker 3: And this is kind of his cadence. He gets a
- 41:46Speaker 3: veteran quarterback, brings him in. But what you look at,
- 41:49Speaker 3: you brought up the defensive line. The front seven is
- 41:51Speaker 3: the strength of Ole Miss' defense. And Louisville's path to
- 41:55Speaker 3: victory would be on the ground. But when your front
- 41:58Speaker 3: seven stacks up much better than Louisville's offensive line and
- 42:02Speaker 3: running game, i just don't see them getting into a
- 42:04Speaker 3: shootout the the german quarterback lincoln like he's thrown 34
- 42:09Speaker 3: passes in his entire career so we don't know what
- 42:11Speaker 3: he is from a passing standpoint what he can get
- 42:13Speaker 3: done trinidad lacey they have what the two the two
- 42:16Speaker 3: syracuse transfers in the auburn transfer like they are one
- 42:20Speaker 3: of the few teams that have a direct why a
- 42:23Speaker 3: direct reason why they're you know so passionate about this
- 42:26Speaker 3: season when you have a lot of guys you're trying
- 42:27Speaker 3: to get guys to buy into the culture you want
- 42:29Speaker 3: to bring but all the stuff with the playoffs last year,
- 42:32Speaker 3: being as close as they were with their head coach
- 42:35Speaker 3: leaving them, and the OCs bouncing back and forth, all
- 42:37Speaker 3: that does play a factor going into week one of
- 42:41Speaker 3: how high they are ranked in the AP Top 25,
- 42:43Speaker 3: yet no one's really talking about them, us included, when
- 42:46Speaker 3: it came to who's going to win the SEC Championship,
- 42:48Speaker 3: and that's all more chips for them to have on
- 42:50Speaker 3: their shoulder. I'm going to stick with three, but I
- 42:52Speaker 3: like Ole Miss a lot in this game.
- 42:53Speaker 2: I think you'll be able to tell what the game's
- 42:56Speaker 2: going to be like pretty early, because in those first
- 42:58Speaker 2: couple of whether it's the first 15 or scripted first
- 43:01Speaker 2: couple series, like the run game wrinkle that Brom will
- 43:05Speaker 2: have in for Lincoln, whether it's pullers, quarterback, design QB runs, RPOs.
- 43:12Speaker 2: all the option game, if that has Ole Miss on
- 43:15Speaker 2: their heels to where adjustments, we've got to figure out
- 43:17Speaker 2: these adjustments, and obviously we'll find out. But that's where
- 43:21Speaker 2: you can see if Louisville is going to have a shot.
- 43:22Speaker 2: If they kind of catch them off guard and the
- 43:23Speaker 2: run game is kind of gashing them early because of
- 43:25Speaker 2: all the misdirection in the QB run game that Lincoln
- 43:28Speaker 2: will hopefully be able to provide. Because when you look
- 43:30Speaker 2: at last week the way NC State played against Virginia,
- 43:32Speaker 2: you can look at the rest of Louisville's schedule. They
- 43:34Speaker 2: go on still to win 10-plus games. They're going to
- 43:37Speaker 2: be good.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Yeah, Louisville's got to go– Just straight military academy when
- 43:42Speaker 3: it comes to their run game.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Triple option and just all over the place. There you go.
- 43:46Speaker 2: Just enough to keep them on their toes, man. Yeah.
- 43:48Speaker 2: To where you're a little flat-footed at the second level.
- 43:50Speaker 2: The DN might be chasing something that he shouldn't be chasing.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Whatever it is, you'll be able to tell what kind
- 43:57Speaker 2: of team, how Louisville can kind of punch them in
- 43:59Speaker 2: the mouth in those first two series.
- 44:00Speaker 4: What I want to know is, so you know if
- 44:02Speaker 4: an Ole Miss play breaks down. It's never over until
- 44:05Speaker 4: Trinidad Chambliss is on the ground because you know what
- 44:07Speaker 4: he could do based off broken plays. I guess there's
- 44:10Speaker 4: a world where maybe we're watching that game Sunday night
- 44:12Speaker 4: and it's middle of the third quarter and maybe Lincoln
- 44:14Speaker 4: Keenholz is just flat out a better athlete than we
- 44:17Speaker 4: understood him to be and maybe he's done some of that.
- 44:20Speaker 4: And you're saying, oh, that's how Louisville's in this game. Oh,
- 44:23Speaker 4: that's how they have a three-point lead. Because you literally
- 44:25Speaker 4: can't know. All you know, all his resume is, is
- 44:27Speaker 4: I almost beat out Julian Sayen for the Ohio State
- 44:30Speaker 4: quarterback job, allegedly. That's his resume.
- 44:32Speaker 2: That's a good resume, though, if you don't really have
- 44:34Speaker 2: a lot of experience.
- 44:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it doesn't mean it's a weakness. It just means
- 44:36Speaker 4: you're a huge question.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Yeah, which might actually be a strength. True. We interrupt
- 44:41Speaker 2: this episode to bring you Jack Daniels. You've heard of
- 44:45Speaker 2: Jack Daniels, but did you know they have multiple flavors
- 44:47Speaker 2: of Tennessee whiskey? Jack Honey. Jack by name, honey by nature.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Bold like Jack, smooth like honey. Authentically Jack and naturally smooth.
- 44:56Speaker 2: A little bit of honey and a whole lot of Jack.
- 44:59Speaker 2: Jack Apple. Pick boldly. Real crisp apples. Real Jack Daniels.
- 45:04Speaker 2: Jack to the core. Jack Blackberry. The only blackberry bursting
- 45:09Speaker 2: with Jack. Jack Daniels. Shout out.
- 45:12Speaker 3: All right.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Baylor versus Auburn. This one's in Atlanta.
- 45:16Speaker 4: Of course it is.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Auburn's favored.
- 45:18Speaker 3: Minus seven and a half total points in that game
- 45:21Speaker 3: is 59 and a half points.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Is Sherm in the room?
- 45:24Speaker 4: No, he's here.
- 45:24Speaker 3: All right, put some earmuffs over Sherm.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Put them down nice.
- 45:30Speaker 3: What do we think, boys?
- 45:33Speaker 2: Oh, no. Love Auburn. Love Auburn. Love Auburn. I'm sorry, Sherm. Hey,
- 45:38Speaker 2: you're my guy. Go, sport the dance.
- 45:43Speaker 3: I mean, Baylor, DJ Lagway, five-star athlete.
- 45:45Speaker 4: Dave Aranda, one of the great defensive minds in the game.
- 45:48Speaker 2: Look, I got you. Bullets coming at me right now.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Love Auburn right here. Coach Golish, getting Auburn. I feel
- 45:56Speaker 2: like it reminds me a lot of, again, a little
- 45:58Speaker 2: Nebraska tie. But when Bo Pelini comes into the program
- 46:01Speaker 2: after Callahan was kind of lighting it on fire back
- 46:05Speaker 2: in 07, Pelini comes in and I remember when I
- 46:07Speaker 2: was getting recruited and Eckler coaching staff would be talking
- 46:10Speaker 2: to me when I was there. It'd be like, people
- 46:12Speaker 2: don't get, that we landed on a gold mine as
- 46:15Speaker 2: far as talent that is in this building. You just
- 46:17Speaker 2: have to unlock it. You got to put the right
- 46:18Speaker 2: culture in place. You got to have the right people
- 46:20Speaker 2: in the building. And I feel like that is something
- 46:22Speaker 2: that's taking place right now at Auburn because I feel
- 46:24Speaker 2: like Golish is a stud. Top 10 offense in the country.
- 46:28Speaker 2: Number one a couple years ago when he was with Tennessee,
- 46:30Speaker 2: back-to-back offenses, top 10. Ended up being, what, top three
- 46:36Speaker 2: with USF last year in total offense. And as far
- 46:38Speaker 2: as even, let me stop before I go into tempo
- 46:42Speaker 2: and everything else. But Golish coming in and retaining the
- 46:44Speaker 2: D coordinator, DJ Durkin, and having a defense that was
- 46:48Speaker 2: top five and stopping the run, a top 20 total defense,
- 46:52Speaker 2: having that and some of the continuity that they have,
- 46:54Speaker 2: especially the second level with this Xavier Cat at linebacker,
- 46:57Speaker 2: who is a stud All-American. I like where the defense
- 47:01Speaker 2: is going to be at because, again, you kept a
- 47:03Speaker 2: piece that Auburn didn't struggle with. You tie that to
- 47:07Speaker 2: Golish and the offensive play calling and everything else. A
- 47:11Speaker 2: question that I do have because there are a lot
- 47:12Speaker 2: of new faces across the line of scrimmage offensively at Auburn,
- 47:17Speaker 2: but you're able to minimize that risk. with the style
- 47:20Speaker 2: that Golish attacks you with. As far as tempo goes,
- 47:24Speaker 2: they're number one or two every year in tempo. As
- 47:27Speaker 2: far as running tempo, and I believe 48, 49% of
- 47:29Speaker 2: the time, that beats out the next best by like 6%.
- 47:34Speaker 2: But knowing all of that tempo is there and they
- 47:36Speaker 2: spread it out wide, think Hypo System at Tennessee, because
- 47:39Speaker 2: that was one of the disciples with Golish, coaching next
- 47:42Speaker 2: to him. Having all that with Byron Brown, an athlete
- 47:46Speaker 2: at quarterback who's already been in the system, who can
- 47:49Speaker 2: win through the air and can win on his legs.
- 47:51Speaker 2: And again, I think there's going to be talent that
- 47:53Speaker 2: we just don't know about yet that has been kind
- 47:55Speaker 2: of stacked in the basement, kept in the basement at Auburn,
- 47:57Speaker 2: that I think Golish is going to unlock because you
- 47:59Speaker 2: watch Golish all offseason, whether it's OTAs, not spring ball,
- 48:04Speaker 2: in training camp, any pressure he comes out with, he
- 48:07Speaker 2: challenges his team. He doesn't pat him on the ass.
- 48:11Speaker 2: He's like, no, you guys have been drinking the Kool-Aid
- 48:12Speaker 2: far too long here in this NIL era, everything else,
- 48:15Speaker 2: where he's pissed about how scrimmages went. He's pissed about
- 48:18Speaker 2: how spring ball went. He says we're nowhere close to
- 48:20Speaker 2: where we need to be to where he's publicly always
- 48:23Speaker 2: calling out and challenging his team. Stayed in dorm rooms
- 48:26Speaker 2: for a couple weeks. I don't know how much stock
- 48:27Speaker 2: you want to put into that, but going no distractions,
- 48:30Speaker 2: we're going to build this thing together. I'm higher on
- 48:33Speaker 2: Auburn not to win the SEC title. I just feel
- 48:36Speaker 2: really good about the culture of goalish, bringing that into Auburn,
- 48:41Speaker 2: and that's why I love them a lot in this
- 48:43Speaker 2: game because I think the line is low, clearly, with
- 48:47Speaker 2: my confidence meter at five. I know.
- 48:49Speaker 3: I feel a whole lot better if it was at
- 48:50Speaker 3: six and a half. Do you disagree with anything that
- 48:52Speaker 3: Will Compton just said?
- 48:53Speaker 4: I'd like you to go first.
- 48:54Speaker 2: You'd like me to go first?
- 48:56Speaker 3: I agree with everything you said when it comes to Auburn.
- 48:58Speaker 3: I think the biggest thing that he did was retain
- 49:00Speaker 3: the D.C. They're held, I think, every SEC team under
- 49:02Speaker 3: 100 yards rushing throughout the year. They're anemic on offense.
- 49:06Speaker 3: So roster retention was massive for Golish. The question mark
- 49:10Speaker 3: does remain about the offensive line, bringing a bunch of
- 49:12Speaker 3: guys from a smaller program and seeing if they can
- 49:14Speaker 3: be successful. And then I look at Baylor and Dave Aranda.
- 49:20Speaker 3: He's had losing seasons the last three or the last
- 49:23Speaker 3: four years. He's a defensive-minded coach, but his defense gave
- 49:27Speaker 3: up 32.6 points per game last year.
- 49:31Speaker 2: Their offense was.
- 49:32Speaker 3: Top four in passing, but they gave up the most
- 49:34Speaker 3: turnovers in college football. They were like, I think minus
- 49:37Speaker 3: 13 or 14 in the turnover margin. And their answer
- 49:39Speaker 3: for that question is bringing in DJ Lagway, who I
- 49:42Speaker 3: am a massive fan of. I love DJ Lagway. I
- 49:45Speaker 3: love his potential. I love his athletic ability. I love
- 49:47Speaker 3: that he came from Florida. He did the big 12
- 49:49Speaker 3: media days and he goes, hey, I could have been
- 49:51Speaker 3: a better leader. I could have handled myself better at Florida.
- 49:54Speaker 3: I missed out on a big opportunity. I love everything
- 49:56Speaker 3: about that. But then I just look at the numbers,
- 49:59Speaker 3: the five interceptions against Florida last year.
- 50:00Speaker 2: LSU. Was it LSU? Yeah. He was at Florida. He
- 50:04Speaker 2: played LSU.
- 50:05Speaker 4: It was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life.
- 50:06Speaker 2: Because Florida should have won that damn game. Yeah.
- 50:08Speaker 3: And so five interceptions there, 14 total throughout the year.
- 50:12Speaker 3: And you watch the film of Lagway and it's like
- 50:16Speaker 3: when the pocket's clean, like he'll get the ball out
- 50:18Speaker 3: and he'll put it in a good spot. He can
- 50:19Speaker 3: throw the ball truly anywhere in the field. He's a
- 50:22Speaker 3: very special talent. But once the rushers can kind of
- 50:25Speaker 3: get up on you a little bit, whether it's from
- 50:26Speaker 3: the interior or around the edge, his feet get happy.
- 50:29Speaker 3: He feels it quite a bit, and that's where he
- 50:31Speaker 3: gets really inconsistent with simple throws, like throwing out to
- 50:33Speaker 3: the perimeter, quick slants, stuff like that. I can just
- 50:36Speaker 3: see Auburn getting up quickly. and taking advantage of dicey throws,
- 50:42Speaker 3: unless DJ just completely learned his lesson, then is the
- 50:45Speaker 3: five-star talent.
- 50:46Speaker 2: But I'm with you.
- 50:47Speaker 3: I'm not five. I don't think I'm going five this
- 50:50Speaker 3: whole entire week because I see myself being so confident
- 50:52Speaker 3: on my pace. It's like, this is when they get you. Like, Taylor,
- 50:54Speaker 3: this is when they're in the closet right now. Michael
- 50:56Speaker 3: Myers is right there. So I'll go four on this.
- 50:59Speaker 2: I like Auburn a lot. I'm excited about it. I think....
- 51:04Speaker 3: I think Aranda's staring in the barrel of the A-gap
- 51:06Speaker 3: right now and it's not looking great.
- 51:08Speaker 2: He's in the A-gap. He is in the A-gap. We're
- 51:09Speaker 2: just going to see if he survives the A-gap. Right.
- 51:11Speaker 3: He's got Derrick Henry coming downhill at him right now
- 51:13Speaker 3: and he's got a choice to make. Does he move
- 51:15Speaker 3: out of the way and make a business decision or
- 51:16Speaker 3: does he tuck.
- 51:17Speaker 2: His teeth in? He's me in the sign in there
- 51:19Speaker 2: when I got ran over by Rybkowski with the Green
- 51:22Speaker 2: Bay Packers to where he's ran me over. Is he
- 51:25Speaker 2: going to fall and I get the tackle and I
- 51:27Speaker 2: survive the eight gap or is he going to keep going?
- 51:28Speaker 2: And I just, I lost all control. He lost all control.
- 51:30Speaker 3: Hopefully a safety can clean you up later. So I'm, I'm,
- 51:33Speaker 3: I'm big on opera in this game.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Wow.
- 51:35Speaker 4: So it sounds like you love Alex Golish.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Love Alex Golish.
- 51:39Speaker 4: You're a pretty big Alex Golish guy.
- 51:41Speaker 2: To an extent.
- 51:42Speaker 4: Oh, so you still got to see some things.
- 51:44Speaker 3: Yeah, of course.
- 51:45Speaker 2: Okay.
- 51:46Speaker 4: I'm a huge Alex Golish guy. I think you got
- 51:49Speaker 4: to be careful loving a hire versus taking everything you
- 51:53Speaker 4: love about the hire and and baking it into your
- 51:56Speaker 4: week one of year one prediction. Because that's what I've
- 52:01Speaker 4: been careful of here. I don't want to be careful.
- 52:04Speaker 4: Nor should you.
- 52:05Speaker 2: I'm not treading on Saturday, Josh. I'm not treading on Saturday.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Is Josh taking away from our Saturday? I think he's
- 52:11Speaker 2: trying to tell us to tread lightly.
- 52:13Speaker 4: I'm telling you, I'm going to tread lightly. Or am
- 52:16Speaker 4: I going to tread lightly? So you are right. I forget.
- 52:19Speaker 4: It's been a long time. Those were extended predictions. I
- 52:21Speaker 4: forget which one of you talked about tempo. Yeah, you
- 52:23Speaker 4: talked about tempo. So Auburn, 119th in explosive plays last year. USF,
- 52:30Speaker 4: seventh in explosive plays last year. You were right. I
- 52:33Speaker 4: remember this. It's coming back to me. Baylor, horrific. 130th
- 52:36Speaker 4: in turnovers last year. DJ Lagway, horrific. 14 interceptions last year.
- 52:41Speaker 4: But the way college football works, the double negative equals
- 52:43Speaker 4: a positive all the time. So I'm not necessarily going
- 52:46Speaker 4: to say that this is going to make sense necessarily.
- 52:48Speaker 4: I just remember, and stop me if you've ever heard
- 52:51Speaker 4: this before, how many times have we been there where
- 52:53Speaker 4: we bake in a bunch of expectations with a guy?
- 52:56Speaker 4: Maybe there's someone out there who predicted DJ Lagway to
- 52:59Speaker 4: be the number one quarterback in the SEC. And that
- 53:01Speaker 4: person got burned. And he should be scornful. You're cooking
- 53:04Speaker 4: right now. And he should be bitter. But he's matured.
- 53:08Speaker 3: Oh.
- 53:09Speaker 4: And he is a bigger man than he used to be.
- 53:11Speaker 2: Wow.
- 53:11Speaker 4: And he's looking at DJ Lagway and saying, you know,
- 53:13Speaker 4: maybe I wasn't wrong. Maybe I was just early.
- 53:18Speaker 2: He's just cooking.
- 53:23Speaker 4: The young man has an opportunity here.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Yes, he does. He's back home.
- 53:26Speaker 4: I've got an opportunity here because I am the hypothetical person.
- 53:30Speaker 2: You are?
- 53:30Speaker 4: I haven't burned that graphic. It still exists. It's wadded up.
- 53:35Speaker 4: It's in a drawer somewhere. But I still remember an
- 53:37Speaker 4: era where I thought DJ Lagway could be a Heisman contender.
- 53:41Speaker 4: I thought he could take Florida to Atlanta last year.
- 53:44Speaker 4: I thought he was the best in the league. And
- 53:46Speaker 4: now the league he's in is Baylor. But he's out
- 53:48Speaker 4: of the straight jacket that he claims he was in.
- 53:51Speaker 4: And he is playing for a head coach who only
- 53:53Speaker 4: still has his job because he got his own professional
- 53:56Speaker 4: stay of execution because his athletic director got in trouble
- 53:58Speaker 4: and got fired before he had a chance to fire him.
- 54:01Speaker 4: Baylor shouldn't be. Nothing about this should be. And yet
- 54:05Speaker 4: here they are going to Atlanta. No one, on this
- 54:07Speaker 4: set at least, is given much of a choice and
- 54:10Speaker 4: much of a chance to win. And I'm thinking to myself,
- 54:12Speaker 4: shouldn't that line be 14 and a half? But it's
- 54:14Speaker 4: only seven and a half. And there's a lot of newness,
- 54:17Speaker 4: specifically on the offensive line for Auburn. I still got
- 54:20Speaker 4: some questions about that. And I've listened to Coach Aranda.
- 54:24Speaker 4: Some people will call him Dave, but I would call
- 54:26Speaker 4: him Coach Aranda. I have respect for the guy who
- 54:28Speaker 4: was the secret sauce, not Joe Burrow, behind the 2019
- 54:31Speaker 4: LSU National Championship. I'm playing around a little bit when
- 54:34Speaker 4: I say that, so I don't want that clipped.
- 54:36Speaker 2: But we'll do you like ESPN did yesterday.
- 54:40Speaker 3: Buddy.
- 54:41Speaker 4: You got them to delete. If they didn't delete that,
- 54:42Speaker 4: we were going to have problems.
- 54:44Speaker 2: Yeah. You said, no, we're not doing that.
- 54:45Speaker 4: Don't get sidetracked. Don't get sidetracked. Okay. So Coach Aranda
- 54:49Speaker 4: has said all of fall camp, there's been a strength
- 54:53Speaker 4: of his team and it's been his defensive line. And
- 54:57Speaker 4: I don't know that he's ever lied in his life.
- 54:59Speaker 4: So I'm going to take him at his word and
- 55:02Speaker 4: I am going to take this game in its historical
- 55:05Speaker 4: context where stuff happens all the time that makes no sense.
- 55:09Speaker 4: And no, it wouldn't make sense at all if DJ
- 55:11Speaker 4: Legway balled out of his mind Saturday. But he could.
- 55:14Speaker 4: It wouldn't make any sense if Baylor's defensive line was
- 55:17Speaker 4: magically resurrected. But it could be. And I like Alex Golish.
- 55:23Speaker 4: I like Auburn a lot. But I love Sherman. I
- 55:28Speaker 4: love him.
- 55:28Speaker 2: That's beautiful.
- 55:29Speaker 4: I love him. And I love Baylor plus seven and
- 55:32Speaker 4: a half.
- 55:35Speaker 1: He said, dang, Will.
- 55:36Speaker 2: Five units. Five units.
- 55:49Speaker 3: Five units.
- 55:49Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 55:50Speaker 3: It's a big head-to-head in week one.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Oh, wow. Love the spot.
- 55:54Speaker 4: Can I say, look, I'm confident. Obviously, I think Baylor's
- 55:58Speaker 4: going to cover. So I'm very confident in this. If
- 56:02Speaker 4: DJ Lagway screws this up for me, If Dave Aranda
- 56:05Speaker 4: screws this up for me.
- 56:06Speaker 2: It's on you.
- 56:07Speaker 4: Frankly, if Sherm screws this up for me. Could get frosty.
- 56:13Speaker 4: So either I could win Saturday or you guys could lose.
- 56:16Speaker 4: One of two things could happen.
- 56:17Speaker 2: You did a great job. That was nice. Again, I
- 56:21Speaker 2: know you love theories. That's just the Josh Pate theory
- 56:23Speaker 2: that you just did there.
- 56:24Speaker 4: Notice how I deferred?
- 56:25Speaker 2: Yeah, you did enough and it's like, yeah. It could happen.
- 56:29Speaker 2: And everybody's kind of like, yeah, Baylor could win this game.
- 56:32Speaker 2: DJ Liveway could be the best.
- 56:35Speaker 4: This D-line could be the best. Coach Aranda says they're
- 56:38Speaker 4: the best. They're the strength of the team. Name one
- 56:41Speaker 4: lie Dave Aranda's ever told.
- 56:43Speaker 2: Name one.
- 56:44Speaker 4: He can't name one.
- 56:44Speaker 2: He was the secret sauce of LSU.
- 56:46Speaker 4: That's a lie I told.
- 56:47Speaker 2: I'm sure he said that to a family member. I'm
- 56:49Speaker 2: sure he said that to a family member.
- 56:52Speaker 4: I'm sure a family member said that to him and
- 56:53Speaker 4: he didn't disagree.
- 56:55Speaker 2: Yeah. That's what it was. Yeah. I was at that party.
- 56:59Speaker 2: All right, so five. This is a big game. Five-five.
- 57:01Speaker 4: Five-five.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Five-five. Bump me down to three. Where'd you go? I
- 57:05Speaker 2: went four. But I'm seeing a strategic move here that's
- 57:09Speaker 2: just like- Smart. Yeah. Yeah. Crafty. Crafty.
- 57:13Speaker 3: It's like I see this, and it's like, why don't
- 57:15Speaker 3: I just bow out?
- 57:16Speaker 4: Yeah, you just want to officiate this one.
- 57:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love Auburn, though. I do, too.
- 57:21Speaker 2: He does what Josh Pate always does. He painted a
- 57:24Speaker 2: beautiful picture. Josh Pate Theory. Josh Pate Theory. A beautiful picture.
- 57:27Speaker 5: D.J.
- 57:28Speaker 3: Lagway is going to win.
- 57:30Speaker 2: See, I think D.J. Lagway could be a good player. Dude, Auburn, again,
- 57:34Speaker 2: even with the gold that we haven't seen come out
- 57:37Speaker 2: of the ground, they've been top 10 in recruiting. Outside
- 57:39Speaker 2: of just this past recruiting class, they've been top 20
- 57:42Speaker 2: every year. They were top 10 in the transfer portal
- 57:45Speaker 2: class the last two years. There's something there that just
- 57:47Speaker 2: hasn't popped up yet. You went five. I'm five. I'm five.
- 57:51Speaker 2: Love goals. Love how he challenges in the media. There's
- 57:55Speaker 2: a dynamic that's going on that I'm into. And Sherman
- 57:58Speaker 2: even put me on, too. I was like, oh. Because
- 58:00Speaker 2: I was talking to him about some Paulina stuff. I know.
- 58:02Speaker 3: Sherman and I were talking a couple weeks ago, and
- 58:04Speaker 3: he's like, you have a big opportunity to put Baylor
- 58:05Speaker 3: on your back.
- 58:06Speaker 2: This year with this ESPN show. And I was like, yeah, dude,
- 58:09Speaker 2: don't know. Weird expectation to put on. And I started
- 58:13Speaker 2: looking at it, and I was like, how could I
- 58:15Speaker 2: wave this flag for Sherman? The more I looked at it,
- 58:18Speaker 2: the more I was like, I don't want to.
- 58:20Speaker 4: Can you imagine those two head coaches watching this show?
- 58:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:23Speaker 4: Because I got Dave Aranda watching someone call him the
- 58:25Speaker 4: secret sauce between the 2019 LSU National Championship and now.
- 58:29Speaker 4: I've got me telling him he's never told a lie
- 58:32Speaker 4: in his life. Meanwhile, I've got Alex Golish watching you
- 58:35Speaker 4: compare him to Bo Pelini. First time it's happened in
- 58:38Speaker 4: his life. Total fever dream. No, Alex Golish.
- 58:44Speaker 2: There's one guy that I think of. It's Bo Pelini.
- 58:47Speaker 2: It's Bo Pelini. Bo Pelini.
- 58:49Speaker 3: Should we do the Gravely Game of the Week? Gravely
- 58:53Speaker 3: Game of the Week. Probably the most competitive game in
- 58:56Speaker 3: week one, in my opinion. UCLA at Cal, West Coast game.
- 59:02Speaker 3: Bob Chesney, Josh, Josh, Tosh, Lapoi. Did I say that right?
- 59:07Speaker 2: Eventually, yeah. That was not nice.
- 59:11Speaker 3: UCLA's favorite one and a half. Total points in the
- 59:13Speaker 3: game is 54 and a half. All I've heard for
- 59:15Speaker 3: the last two weeks, for actually a month, is Will
- 59:18Speaker 3: Compton just saying, Cal.
- 59:20Speaker 2: Very sneaky.
- 59:21Speaker 3: That's my sneaky team.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Not in the ACC.
- 59:23Speaker 3: Not in totality. But I like them being sneaky this year.
- 59:26Speaker 2: Yep. They sneaking on UCLA? I haven't fully pulled the
- 59:30Speaker 2: trigger on the over six and a half win total
- 59:32Speaker 2: that Cal has. But as we get to Saturday, I
- 59:35Speaker 2: think it's going to be in there.
- 59:36Speaker 4: You're going to do it?
- 59:37Speaker 2: I think I'm going to do it.
- 59:38Speaker 1: Okay.
- 59:38Speaker 2: I think I'm going to do it. And again, just
- 59:41Speaker 2: a hedge. I'm not saying they're going to be competing
- 59:44Speaker 2: for an ACC title. If they do, I'm going to
- 59:46Speaker 2: be hating myself for that. You've been notoriously under the
- 59:49Speaker 2: whole preseason. So for you to be taking an over
- 59:51Speaker 2: on anyone. Yeah.
- 59:53Speaker 4: You must see something.
- 59:54Speaker 2: Yeah. And I know people are like, oh, why are
- 59:56Speaker 2: we covering Cal UCLA? They're essentially flyover programs in college football. Essentially,
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: they are. Wow.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: But to not be Aaron Rodgers from Cal.
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: They're sitting out there on the coast. They've never been
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: called flyover in their life.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. They can see an.
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: Ocean out of their window.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Flyover programs. You know, like the flyover. You guys get it.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: I understand what you're trying to say. Go ahead, Cal.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Sleeper team. The programs you don't think about. I was
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: tweeting with Liam Blutman the other day. It's like, there's
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: still people out there that are like, oh, they're not
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: in the Pac-12 anymore. This team's in the Big Ten.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: This team's in the ACC. I did not know that.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: But this game is exciting. Bob Chesney coming from JMU.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: Another JMU staff taking over a basketball school. We've heard
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: that one before. We've seen that one take place with
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: Coach Cignetti. I'm not saying Bob Chesney's going to be that,
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: but him establishing culture and operations You've seen him be
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: able to operate and win. They've been number one in
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: the Sun Belt in all defensive categories, and you might
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: be saying, the Sun Belt? Who cares? It just tells
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: me that this is good coaching no matter where it
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: comes from. I think he's going to implement that at UCLA.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: I think it's going to take a little bit of time.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: But both of these staffs, LaPoi coming from Oregon as
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: a D coordinator, taking over his alma mater, like these
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: two guys are juiced up about where they're at right
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: now in college football. And they're trying to establish something
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: that the programs have never seen. The reason I like
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: Cal in this game is JKS, phenomenal. Live arm, like
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: this is a stud of a quarterback in all of
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: college football. Defensively, I'm just more, there's gonna be a
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: lot of new faces on the Cal, on the California defense.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: Very young at the linebacker spot. I just trust, it's
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: like I'm just, this is where my bias of knowing
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Tosh a little bit, being out there in Oregon, being
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: fired up about his intensity, his process, his operation. I'm
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: just assuming that they're going to be fine. They're gonna
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: be fine defensively. But offensively, you got 2,300-plus snaps of
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: experience returning to an offensive line who wasn't good at
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: running the football. But again, having all that experience come back,
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: they went out in the transfer portal. They were top
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: 15 in the portal. They got some cats. There's Ian
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: Strong out of Rutgers, who's a stud, 6'4. They got,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: is it Chase Hendricks from Ohio, who had a 1,000-yard
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: season last year? Cooper, who is part of the top 200,
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: who was a transfer from Oregon last year. They came
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: down to put some weapons around JKS. I like that dynamic.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Both of these teams have a dynamic quarterback and a
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: good staff. I like both staffs. I'm bullish on Cal.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: I'm bullish on Cal. I'm excited to watch this game.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: The spread's only one and a half. I love Cal
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: Moneyline here. So I'm going to go three units on
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: Cal Moneyline.
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: Big time.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: Three units on Cal Moneyline. Okay. Josh?
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: I don't have much of a breakdown on the game
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: because I don't think there's a way you can know
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: a whole lot about either team. I think maybe if
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: I were to go back to the Auburn-Baylor prediction, if
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: I'm willing to still believe in DJ Lagway, am I
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: not still willing to believe in Nico Yamaliaba? The answer
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: is sort of. So I don't have a whole lot
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: of confidence, but I have supreme faith, hope, and trust
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: in Bob Chesney. Not that I don't in Tosh, but
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: I really, really believe in the direction UCLA could go.
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: So who knows? I mean, a snowball has to start
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: or a huge snowball has to start with like that
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: little kick. And I think maybe this is just the
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: little nudge, the little kick moment. Only one unit for
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: me is at one and a half. I'll lay the
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: one and a half with UCLA. It's going to be
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: fun to watch.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: I agree with you on that. It's like Chesney, we've
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: seen it happen. He's been coming from JMU. Tosh, we
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: haven't seen it yet. Tosh, we haven't seen it.
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: Great recruiter everywhere he's been. He's been brought to a
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: lot of places to be a great recruiter. But Chesney, yeah,
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: he was successful at D3, D2, clearly JMU. And so
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: I just have to think that trend is going to continue.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: I think both rosters are built very similarly from a
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: talent standpoint. If you put one against the other, they
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: kind of equal out in a lot of ways. And
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: then it just comes down to the two quarterbacks. And
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: the quarterback I lean on as the more mobile quarterback
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: was Nico. Cal quarterback, he's got a live arm.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: He's incredible.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Lefty can rip it anywhere. But he was also sacked
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: 30 times last year in the offensive line. They didn't
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: put a whole lot into the offensive line. to make
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: me think, okay, that's going to be a big dramatic change.
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: He's not like a mobile running quarterback. He wants to
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: sit in the pocket. He wants to get into his drop,
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: step up, and deliver a strike. Nico, when things break down,
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: especially how week one can happen where it gets a
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: little more sloppy, he's got his legs that can help
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: him get out of tough situations. So I really like UCLA.
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: I like UCLA minus one and a half. I'm going
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: to do three units. Wow.
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: Kind of consistent with the three this week. I kind
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: of like my threes. Yeah. I want to go fives everywhere, dude.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: I kind of feel great about all of them. I
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: threw my confidence in the middle there. Level head. Yeah.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: And also, too, it's Jordan Somerville who came from the
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: Bucs as their OC, offensive play caller for Cal. He's
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: been with the Bucs the last three seasons with Baker Mayfield.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: And even before that, a lot of his mentoring, a
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: lot of coaches that he's worked with has been Dillingham.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: There's one more I'm drawing a blank on right now.
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: I think I have him on my notes. Hang on.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: Let me look. dealing him and Liam Cohen. So him
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: being like, they have a young minded staff over there
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: with all that intensity and passion. I just, you know,
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: pro style offense. I like that pairing too with Somerville
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: and JKS.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: I don't know if this is like, I have an
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: answer to this, but it feels to me like offensive coaches,
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: like offensive coaching trees, the guys that come from a
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: Sean McVay, Like they always seem to be very successful.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: In the opposite side of the ball.
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: I don't know if I feel that. And I don't
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: know if this is true or not from a defensive side.
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: Like Tosh coming from Oregon, he was the DC. Oregon's
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: defense was good last year, but Dan Lanning is the
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: offensive minor head coach. Is he calling the plays? Is
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: he instilling the culture there? It just feels like, I
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: feel like offense, you see more like carry over from
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: an OC becoming a head coach versus a DC becoming
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: head coach. When the coach that came from was the,
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: you know, a defensive minor head coach.
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: Does that make sense? Bo Pelini was the defensive coordinator.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: It is true.
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: The Alex Golis of the 20-teens, yeah.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Number one scoring defense, number one pass defense in the country.
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: But that was mostly the players on the field, I heard.
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: Mostly the middle linebacker. Yeah.
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: That was the talent.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: Who knows, man? Just, you know, defensive coordinator.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: For those of you watching the locker room, the over-under
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: on Wilcompton bringing up Nebraska was, I think.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: Five and a half?
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: Five and a half, yeah.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: And it's only been twice.
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: That's correct.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: So the under is.
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: Currently going great right now.
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: It's going great right now. That's Lucy. That's my daily
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: right there.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: Espresso is my favorite hands down and that bite and
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: burst where it pops and hits with flavor, that never
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: gets old. I mostly use it to lock in. If
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: I need to focus, get a little energy boost, this
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: is what I reach for. Pre-workout, post-workout, does not matter.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: It works either way. These bad boys go up to
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: 12 milligrams. Currently, I'm staring at an eight milli right here.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: Kind of a big deal.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: So if you need something with a little more kick,

- 1:07:19Speaker 2: of the week.
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: Dog of the week.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: Cody Graveyard. We're going Idaho State versus Utah plus 13
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: and a half. All of my eggs are in the
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: basket with Cody. I was like, hey, you got a
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: dog this week, Cody? He's like, man, I like Idaho State.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: He obviously played there. Inside backers. Salty versus Utah State. Oh,
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: Utah State. Utah State to cover 13 and a half.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: He says he really likes it. He had the grin
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: and the smile on his face to where I then
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: looked over at Mitch and I'm like, Am I agreeing?
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: This is Will Compton, Nebraska. These are the vibes we'll
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: be getting with him in Idaho State. So all expectation,
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: all pressure. Dog of the week, first dog of the
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: week is the graveyard himself, Cody Graves, and we're going
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: to Idaho State.
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: Going to Idaho State to cover. Get to Utah State.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: It's all on you, Cody.
- 1:08:01Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe we've won a little early for a reputation
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: play for me.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Not only is my knowledge.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: On the line, but really my integrity. Yeah. But I'm
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: hedging that, so I'm recognizing. Oh, no. Scores minus one.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: Cody's response to that made me feel really bad about
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: Will's pick. I agree. Yeah, you feel that way?
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I just want to miss that.
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: I love Will, but I sit there and I'm like,
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: that response to that was.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: This thing's cooked.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: He came into the office with another one, and he
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: was trying to– who was the other one you were
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: trying to sell me on? I was trying to sell
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: you on– was it– Something? Was it Indiana?
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: North Texas against Indiana with Indiana not covering last year
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: against Colton Joseph.
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: ODU, yeah, sure didn't.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: So he was trying to tell me on North Texas.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: I'm like, hey, buddy, I'm riding Idaho State. And he
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: started smiling and nodding his head like, hell yeah. And
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: I was like, no, I just want you to know, like,
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: this is all on you. This is all on you
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: in week one.
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: I'm going to say the words out loud, but truly
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: this is– fails, like, you're done. I'm never trusting you
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: again with the dog of the week.
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah. I'm Cody.
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: That's what we call the bailer.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: I thought you were talking to me. I was like,
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: why am I done?
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: My dog of the week, San Jose State Moneyline versus
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: Eastern Michigan. That's a great pick.
- 1:09:18Speaker 4: Oh, it's a great pick. You're about to see how
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: great it is.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: You picked it too?
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: San Jose State Moneyline.
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: Come on. Yeah. We got a topic for the show.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: We got a topic for the show.
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: If they lose. It's on you.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: Yeah. Right?
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: No. You went first.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: That's not okay.
- 1:09:34Speaker 4: You know these people just played Saturday and now they're
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: playing on the road on a Friday, right?
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: I do.
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: You realize how stupid this is. You realize we shouldn't
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: be betting this.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: I could not disagree more.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: Oh. They've already gotten one week out of the way.
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: They got destroyed. But the second half, even when Jordan
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: Maiava was still in the game, they started to get
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: more comfortable. They started to look a little bit better.
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: You saw that, huh?
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: I see that the poise going to take place. That
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: roaring fan base at the Coliseum finally quieted down a
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: little bit.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: Show off their fan base over there. There it is.
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: Got them all here. Brought them in.
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: And I like West Coast teams going to East. There's
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: like a stat on that, like 67% of underdogs traveling
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: West to East cover.
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: Especially on short rest.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: Yeah, short rest is great.
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: I think they should be laying points. I don't think
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: they should be an underdog. I think we're actually getting
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: value here because of the travel dynamics, but it's not
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: week 10. It's week two. They've been getting ready for this.
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: We're fine. They're fine. As far as I'm concerned, the
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: first half of this game was the second half of
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: last week. San Jose State wins this thing outright.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: I love that. I love it. Do we have parlay?
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Because I got a nice juicy one.
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: I got one.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: Plus 713. You got one?
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: I got one.
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: Oh, I got a parlay. Willie Parlay. Cooked.
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: I'm going to go Oklahoma State minus 13 and a half.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: And that is, that's a lot of newness there, but
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: it's not. Secretly, this is one of the most experienced
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: rosters in the country. Oklahoma State laying 13 and a
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: half at Tulsa. I'm going to pair that up with
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: Liberty plus six and a half. I don't have as
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: much to say about that one. The model just likes it.
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: Those paired up returns plus 288. Oh, you got that.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: You're going model on this. Yes. Into conservative parlay.
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: Very much so.
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: Run the football all year. You're responsible, 288. Not me.
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: All right, we got small, medium, large. Because I see
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: Will's right here, so I'll go next. I got South
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: Dakota State plus 13.5 versus Northwestern. I don't have a
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: lot to say about this. Our computer, Cody told me
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: this is a good one. I like San Jose State
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: money line. And I like, it's not on here, Cody.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: It's not on here.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: But it is, who's Georgia playing?
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: Tennessee State, maybe?
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: They're playing Tennessee State, and it's like 45 and a
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: half points. Kirby Smart, week one, when he's favored by
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: more than 40 points, he's 0 for uncovering the spread.
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: And I love that for that reason.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: So you're on Tennessee State plus 47 and a half. Oh,
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: it is right here.
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: This wasn't the Georgia part. Tennessee State plus.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: 47 and a half. This wasn't the Georgia part. Plus 713.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: I'll take that. Auburn, minus 5 and a half. Notre Dame,
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: minus 12.5. Ole Miss, minus 2.5. Cal Moneyline. Georgia Tech,
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: minus 6.5. To total, plus 1,078. These are alt lines.
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: Can I see that with UCLA minus 1.5? You got
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: to build this thing out.
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: I understand.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: That's going to be tough for you to bring up.
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: Yeah, that's going to take a while.
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: I want to see that with UCLA because I don't
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: hate any of that. It's good. It's a good Rolodex.
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: Except for Cal. Our computer, Cody, was heavy on Georgia
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: Tech minus six and a half. He's like, let me
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: go ahead and throw this in there. Like it? Hey,
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: good first show.
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: Great first show.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: If you enjoy the show so much, come join us

- 1:12:55Speaker 2: That's pretty incredible. Pretty incredible stuff, man. Feel good?
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: I'll see you guys down there, yeah.
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: Feel great. We left some in the tank for Friday, right?
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: I did. I don't know if you did. I just
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: came with some heat. Yeah. More heat to come. Yeah,
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: more heat to come. More heat to come. Do that,
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: do that. Maybe don't watch the show.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: No.
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: Maybe watch Friday's show so you'll feel fresh.
