Transcript
- 0:00Hello there. It's most things Kenobi.
- 0:04This is the podcast, you're looking for.
- 0:18Hello everyone. Welcome to another episode of
- 0:20most things Kenobi. A podcast about Obi-Wan Kenobi
- 0:23and all things. Star Wars.
- 0:25I'm your host Leanne. And I'm your host Lauren and
- 0:29this week oh yes we are entering the Citadel Maura Clone Wars, I
- 0:40am so happy. Yes, yes and this this Arc.
- 0:44Okay, so we're going to do it in usual fashion.
- 0:46We'll start with the first episode in the ark next week.
- 0:49We'll do the following episode, and then we'll wrap it up yes,
- 0:52week after that. So, yes, today's episode is
- 0:56titled. The Citadel mmm and shit just
- 1:00gets crazier and crazier and crazier with each one of these
- 1:02episodes. As they often do in the Clone
- 1:05Wars with the llegar, not not an uncommon phenomenon there at
- 1:10all. It's not only that but this
- 1:13Citadel Arc follows the mortise Arc.
- 1:17So all of that shit, just forget about it.
- 1:22It was all a dream, right? It was Wizard of Oz.
- 1:28Thrust into this now. I love this Arc, I love it very
- 1:34much. It's really, really good, it's
- 1:38really good, it's really smart and there's a crazy shit that
- 1:44happens. I just really didn't expect to
- 1:46see kids show, not a good show, totally and big moments happen.
- 1:51Big like revealing things happen in this Arc things that matter
- 1:57way later in the timeline. Yes.
- 2:02What the fuck is the Citadel? Did you find anything about The
- 2:06Citadel? Because we were going to
- 2:08research? Yeah.
- 2:10It's it was built for Jedi robe Jedi yet when it was built a
- 2:15long time ago, it was built like 500 years ago from when this
- 2:20story takes place, and it was built by the galactic Republic
- 2:26with the help of the Jedi for any Jedi.
- 2:29You turned dark or turned against the order to me that's
- 2:33just crazy that they like. That mean it go with Maximum
- 2:37Security Prison rather than get any kind of Rehabilitation
- 2:43anything. Yeah, I don't know.
- 2:45Deal with the problem instead of just trying to contain it.
- 2:49It's right. It's fucked up.
- 2:51That the Jedi helped with this. What?
- 2:53Yeah. What Rogue Jedi did they have
- 2:56that? They said you know what?
- 2:57We're going to need to build a fucking prison.
- 3:00Right, right? It's pretty crazy honestly and
- 3:04it's built on. I probably not going to say this
- 3:07correctly. Lola say you that's the name of
- 3:11the planet. Yes.
- 3:12And there was some catastrophic event that took place that that
- 3:16no one was sure what happened. But it exposed the molten core
- 3:20of the planet and the planet is slowly disintegrating and like
- 3:25breaking apart and going into orbit around itself.
- 3:28And they decided to Build on this planet knowing it was like
- 3:32this already I just find this extremely fascinating and
- 3:37horrifying super interesting. Yeah and it's horrific - it's
- 3:41interesting. So like they did this on purpose
- 3:45because it was a very dangerous place to be.
- 3:50So if anyone escaped like what we talked about in Cabo if you
- 3:54escape you're not in a very hospitable Place food and like
- 3:58vegetation. And didn't grow.
- 4:00They had everything shipped in basically to survive on the
- 4:04Citadel. So yeah, it's pretty crazy and
- 4:07it was mostly Droids that lived and worked there if you lived in
- 4:11a sense. But like there's a reason why
- 4:13because anything living had to remain inside the Citadel.
- 4:18Yeah, pretty much. Yeah.
- 4:20Outside wasn't going to make it. I mean you see how the Jedi a
- 4:24that are in on this and the Clones struggle the entire time
- 4:28they're outside. Citadel, mmm.
- 4:32I mean they struggle when they're inside the Citadel but
- 4:34they struggle. There's things that go on
- 4:36outside. The Citadel that are fucked up.
- 4:39So the Citadel is all booby-trapped but I started to
- 4:42wonder because it was built by the galactic Republic but as
- 4:47soon as the Clone Wars started the location of Lola so you was
- 4:53basically in separatist territory.
- 4:55So the separatists took the planet, pretty early during the
- 4:58Clone Wars They didn't say how basically.
- 5:02They just said, they overwhelmed the Dooku knew about it,
- 5:05probably probably because he was a Jedi so Yas of known of the
- 5:09Citadel. So they took over that planet
- 5:12really early and they said that they made alterations to the
- 5:18Citadel. So because the Jedi only have
- 5:20what's in their archives which is like the tunnels and shit
- 5:23that's underneath but they're saying that that data is not so
- 5:25accurate anymore so they don't explicitly say that.
- 5:29The separatist that change it but that's the question I have.
- 5:34Are the horrific booby traps that are everywhere where those
- 5:38installed by the separatists or were they there when the Jedi
- 5:41built? This Citadel, I don't know, but
- 5:44it's nefarious as fuck and I want to this has Mace Windu,
- 5:48written all over it. I feel like I don't know why
- 5:54ki-adi-mundi. Yeah, you know, I can just see
- 5:59See mace, like taking some sort of personal, like, Glee out of
- 6:07this place. I'm surprised they didn't send
- 6:10him as part of the incoming party that infiltrated, you
- 6:14know. Yeah.
- 6:17What do you mean in the sense of like, he would find it Justified
- 6:20to put Jedi there or that he would enjoy trying to overcome
- 6:23all the booby traps? No, he would feel great and like
- 6:27making the place. A thing, because he would feel
- 6:31Justified that somebody needed to be there.
- 6:33He's the type of, dude, that would feel like If you're dark
- 6:37enough, we got to put you somewhere.
- 6:40Yeah. Which is interesting because
- 6:42he's the one of those Jedi who kind of like barely walks that
- 6:45line. I know takes one to know one.
- 6:52Yeah. He just hated so many people or
- 6:56had a bug up his ass about. So many individuals, I'll say he
- 6:59just was, you're happy. I never saw him smile.
- 7:02Not once anyway, he seems very bitter.
- 7:04Yeah. Yeah.
- 7:05It's a bit early on there. So they, my favorite part of
- 7:10this whole. Well, I have a lot of favorite
- 7:12Parts. What Am I?
- 7:13Who am? I kidding.
- 7:15But it starts with the Carbonite that we see for the first time
- 7:20prior to Empire Strikes Back. Yeah.
- 7:24And I love this scene. I remember the first time I ever
- 7:27watched this episode and I was like, ah, shut up.
- 7:30They're not they're totally not. They are.
- 7:32Oh my God, they're doing it and Even Dave filoni himself in like
- 7:39the director's cut. Says that he made it in such a
- 7:43way that Anakin already seems to know something about freezing,
- 7:48people in carbonate and carbonite and netted will work
- 7:52and like, he's totally okay. With trusting.
- 7:54You mean system in Empire Strikes Back?
- 7:57He knows this know he knows it already.
- 7:59Oh, okay. Never really explained why they
- 8:01show up and this is a thing and it seems like it's fine.
- 8:04We'll be totally fine, this totally works.
- 8:06And like what's he been doing? Exactly.
- 8:09And so filoni himself said like, They kind of made it seem that
- 8:12Anakin already had some sort of knowledge of this process
- 8:15working in this sense. Interesting.
- 8:18And then he also said that they purposely put in an Ugg, not
- 8:242009, do the carbonation process from the outside which is what
- 8:28they do in a strikes back and filoni said that ugh knots are
- 8:32the like the best carbonation carbonizing that it seems would
- 8:38be like Alex specifically talented.
- 8:41At this first, I kind of love that little nod.
- 8:47But why why do the Jedi have a carbon like that large of a
- 8:52carbon freezing facility, in the temple, there, in the temple.
- 8:56I checked because they show the temple before.
- 8:58Then they go into the next scene.
- 9:01You know how they set the stage and for sure the next scene
- 9:03takes place, why do they have that?
- 9:06What is what is it used for other than freezing people?
- 9:09That's the only thing we've ever seen it.
- 9:11Used for, I don't know. Like, I almost think that they
- 9:15could transport criminals or like, but they have a jail
- 9:20there, don't they? They do is have somewhere and
- 9:25course they do have detention cells, the other than the Jedi
- 9:28Temple. Yeah.
- 9:30But then there's a prison on Coruscant also.
- 9:32So yeah, there's both I don't know if the cells that the the
- 9:35Jedi Temple are for external criminals or if they're only for
- 9:39Force sensitives, I can't remember it just seems like it
- 9:42would be like, what are you doing down there?
- 9:46Anakin what's happening? I know it's like everyone else
- 9:50is asleep in the temple and he just said, And Emily wants to
- 9:52try freezing different things. He'll throw a banana down and
- 9:56freeze it and see what happens. Like like you with your site.
- 9:59Exactly room. The liquid nitrogen.
- 10:02Yes. So I can't blame them too much.
- 10:05I had a moment myself freezing. Something just to see what would
- 10:09happen. Yeah it was a non-sentient item.
- 10:14A banana. Thank God.
- 10:16A balloon is really interesting. If you put it in liquid nitrogen
- 10:19it shrinks you take it out, it And again, but doesn't break.
- 10:24It's very cool. How weird, you know, it's really
- 10:26cool. It's like a picture and it can
- 10:29down there just throwing things in the thing and see what
- 10:31happens. Anyway, the look on his face in
- 10:34the animation itself and they zoom in on them is so fucking
- 10:37self-confident and like, yes, self-assured and its really,
- 10:42really sexy. But it's also unnerving because
- 10:46we know what happens in Empire, Strikes Back.
- 10:48What the fuck? Yeah, it's like setting the
- 10:51stage for It is good to be a creep.
- 10:54Totally. Yeah, everyone looks really good
- 11:00in this episode. This, this whole season is when
- 11:03they're at their Peak whatever. But I'll never forget when
- 11:08they're actually climbing up the wall of the Citadel and like,
- 11:11Obi-Wan has the piece of hair fluttering, which I love?
- 11:14That's my other favorite scene. There's no nostrils.
- 11:17Didn't you point out to me that there's no nostrils.
- 11:20Oh yeah. Sometimes in the animation.
- 11:22Yeah, he has just a flat nose which I love which I I guess, I
- 11:28guess Nationals aren't exactly the most attractive part of a
- 11:31human body but it was kind of on everybody.
- 11:33So why not? It's a thing that's really
- 11:38funny. Okay so they carbon freeze to
- 11:41bypass. They carbon freeze all of the
- 11:44Jedi that are going and all the Clones that are going so they
- 11:47can bypass a scan right they're going to scan the ship yeah the
- 11:52bioscan yes and see if there's any living beings on board they
- 11:56get through the Kade scan and arrive in this insane Planet,
- 12:02which is purple and yellow. Yes.
- 12:06And I did some research on those colors specifically in
- 12:11cinematography. Okay, what have you found?
- 12:14I love this part of our of our breakdown.
- 12:20Okay. So in cinematography you use
- 12:22colors to set mood but it can also have like a subconscious
- 12:28meaning and then it can have a very deliberate meaning as well
- 12:31and there's different parts of using color and light.
- 12:34So there's difference in like, Hue saturation, brightness,
- 12:39brightness and value. Like how dark or saturated is
- 12:42the color and then it's it's meaningful because of the color
- 12:48wheel, right? You know, the Our wheel where it
- 12:50has like the primary colors and then the secondary colors are
- 12:54combinations of primary colors and yellow and purple are
- 12:57complementary colors. They are opposite of each other
- 13:00on the color wheel. When you combine them together,
- 13:03you get brown which is what the rest of the planet looks like
- 13:06very much. So this color palette Is kind of
- 13:12interesting because both purple and yellow can have multiple
- 13:15meanings. So, yellow is considered the
- 13:19most luminous color on the color wheel and it draws the viewers
- 13:24attention, which is why yellow is used for caution signs.
- 13:28Because biologically, we are designed to see the color yellow
- 13:32first, and it is very difficult for us to register the color
- 13:36purple. So it's interesting that they're
- 13:38like used together in this. This planet.
- 13:43So yellow can mean in film yellow is the color of wisdom
- 13:47and knowledge but it's also the color of sickness insecurity
- 13:53Obsession idolization, naivety cowardice, deceit and hazard.
- 14:00Well, that's that describes Tarkin right there, which
- 14:04amazingly that bastard's in the scented Citadel, sorry?
- 14:10No, you're right though. So purple is a rarity right?
- 14:14Like it's rare in nature, so it's harder for our brains to
- 14:17register, but purple and cinematography well, before I
- 14:21say, that purple is also a symbol of royalty, because it's
- 14:25so rare. Only royalty, could afford to
- 14:28wear purple, dyes The in cinematography purple represents
- 14:33fantasy the Ethereal the illusion.
- 14:37It also represents eroticism mysticism, mystery nobility, and
- 14:43royalty. So it's this weird mix of colors
- 14:47that are opposite each other on the color wheel, but then the
- 14:50colors themselves have opposite meanings as well.
- 14:54Which I started to think about. Like what would this mean?
- 14:57I might be reading way too much into it, but like it.
- 15:00Used to be the galactic Republic Jedi and now it's separatists
- 15:06and it's a place to hold Jedi who were once good, who are now
- 15:09bad and like the weird mismatched duality of
- 15:14everything. I just thought it's obviously a
- 15:17deliberate choice to use these colors.
- 15:19Maybe they just thought it'd look nice.
- 15:20But no, I don't think so. I think a lot of this is very
- 15:24deliberate. Well, if you think about the
- 15:27planet itself, the crust, when you see it from far away as
- 15:30purple. So, it's like ethereal and
- 15:33mystical. And Royal, and underneath is
- 15:36this cracked molten yellow core, that's like sick, and it's a
- 15:42warning and it's putrid, you know, it's just an interesting
- 15:46combination there. It really just, that's a huge
- 15:49symbol for the galactic War that's happening, the Clone War.
- 15:54Yes, exactly. It's a symbol for like,
- 15:58Palpatine himself, right. It's a symbol for the Jedi and
- 16:04what they stand for versus what they end up doing.
- 16:07Yeah. It's it could be a symbol for,
- 16:10for all kinds of I love this. I love this stuff so much.
- 16:16And ironically, purple and yellow are my favorite colors
- 16:20for no reason? They just have always.
- 16:22I mean, it's not like a sports team or like, you know, No,
- 16:26there's no, there's no reason behind it.
- 16:28I just like those colors. Not necessarily together, but I
- 16:31like those colors. I don't like it in this sense
- 16:34though. Well, it looks it just looks
- 16:38cool. Looks like a neon like, I don't
- 16:41know, cyberpunk type thing. But the planet is, you know,
- 16:45like we talked about the landscape is, is like horns
- 16:50sticking out of the ground and crazy like outcroppings and the
- 16:55Citadel itself. Of is built on a beaut.
- 16:58I think is what they said between two Lava Lakes.
- 17:01Well, yeah. Because when they leave, and
- 17:03they get out of this thing. There's lava Rivers everywhere.
- 17:07And there's a lot louder. A lava or a magma.
- 17:12See, something like that on the planet.
- 17:15Good luck for crazy. So all rivers and up to the Sea.
- 17:19So, I suppose, if it's true of the river, it does end up in a
- 17:22lava ocean. God.
- 17:27It sounds terrifying. Sounds like a great place to put
- 17:31a citadel. Yeah perfect for prison.
- 17:35God. Well the reason they're going
- 17:40there is because the Jedi even peel Evan peel.
- 17:46Yeah, what a strange name? It's like even Keel.
- 17:50But it's seven peel and it's so pedestrian.
- 17:54Evan Evan, and also pedestrian Todd yet.
- 18:01George peeled is just hanging out in the like So he's such a
- 18:08tiny little thing, and they just have them in this in this.
- 18:13They're keeping him there held there and they go to save him
- 18:17and I just feel bad for the dude, because what ends up
- 18:19happening, anyway, it's like such a noseless trip.
- 18:22Another useless trip, brought to you by the Jedi.
- 18:25Yeah, it explains why he's not in other parts of the stories.
- 18:30Unfortunately. Yeah, but do you know how he
- 18:34lost his eye. I don't do you, I don't but I
- 18:39want to like, find out really quick.
- 18:42He's, they might not talk about it in Cannon and might just be a
- 18:47like a legend story but what makes him seem so badass
- 18:50compared to his stature? I know is that he's a hard-ass
- 18:55doing. He's a great character, is
- 18:57fucking ears, they like flap. I know, he's kind of like, the
- 19:02his ears have always reminded me of Yoda, honestly?
- 19:05Yeah, but he brings them out. He's like rings and shit on him,
- 19:10doesn't he? Oh, I don't know.
- 19:12Maybe in the cartoon he doesn't in the movies.
- 19:15But okay. He's being tortured by a medical
- 19:22Droid I noticed. Okay.
- 19:24Yeah. So that had to be an enhancement
- 19:27brought to you by Dia the separatist.
- 19:30Well the guy who runs the Citadel what's his name OC so
- 19:35pick thank you he's deranged and I kind of love it he treats it
- 19:42like a little mouse trap yes like the old game from the 80s
- 19:46and 90s if anyone recalls it's like you know you have to you
- 19:52must never worked. I will this doesn't work either.
- 19:56When you bring Anakin Ahsoka Obi-Wan coat a wreck.
- 20:00So who else Echo is? Here.
- 20:02This is my, we all know not this episode but Echo we lose our me
- 20:07up. Yes.
- 20:08And so like there's shit that goes down in this Arc, we meet
- 20:13Tarkin before we meet Tarkin, right?
- 20:16It's a huge fucking deal. I know, and he's such a whiny
- 20:19bitch in this episode. I love it.
- 20:21I love it. I love it.
- 20:23I love it. I love it.
- 20:24I love that. Tariq and immediately, he, and
- 20:27Obi-Wan hate each other. Just the open one is just like,
- 20:30Listen here bitch, like he gets sassy with them.
- 20:33He does not take rolls his eyes. He doesn't take any of his shit
- 20:38like look, we're just here to fucking rescue you people.
- 20:41No, thanks necessary, let's move, you know.
- 20:44Yeah. Yeah, but we're skipping the
- 20:48best part of the episode. Which is which is when Obi-Wan
- 20:54like Goes Ham in the hallway. Key.
- 20:57Yes. Oh it's so good.
- 21:03It's so good. He really he very rarely goes
- 21:07that crazy but he does it a few times in this Arc and it's
- 21:10delightful like Back Spin. Backwards.
- 21:13Stabbing, what did you say? They're electrified magnetized.
- 21:17They're magnetized and that's once that happened.
- 21:20Okay, poor. Anakin.
- 21:21Okay, he's busy. He's hanging by his beautiful,
- 21:27sexy bionic arm up on the ceiling, getting shocked as hell
- 21:32unable to help getting electrocuted as usual.
- 21:37But he has enough strength and resolve to like get his his his
- 21:41weapon out and use it and you know, amazing disengage.
- 21:45But what we want is really his his lightsaber.
- 21:51Work in the hallway is really outstanding to watch.
- 21:54It's so cool. And they did some neat like
- 21:58shots on him and that sequence where he says they're magnetized
- 22:01and he's trying to use the force to push them back, they like
- 22:03zoom in on his face and give you that kind of energy as moving it
- 22:07like against his energy. It was really cool.
- 22:10I like that whole sequence because all of the Jedi are
- 22:13being badasses but the citadel's booby traps are really getting
- 22:18the better of them over and over and And there's, there's a story
- 22:24I heard of how filoni asked James Arnold Taylor when he's
- 22:28voicing Obi-Wan can see voices, ob1 plug, hoon, and OSI sobeck
- 22:33and this episode. He is busy.
- 22:34Yeah. I can't believe he voices.
- 22:38So baek also it's insane. Filoni asked him to find a
- 22:42balance of sounding compassionate, but still knowing
- 22:46that the mission needed to be moved forward and I think you
- 22:51did a really good job of that because you know the Clones when
- 22:54the walls get electrified and it's like coming up the hallway
- 22:59towards them and one of the Clones gets killed, it's so
- 23:02horrible. And there's a lot of like
- 23:06Anonymous henchmen. You know, Anonymous clone
- 23:09getting killed in this episode because there's such terrible
- 23:12booby traps everywhere. Yeah.
- 23:14It's really hard to watch the Clones fall throughout these
- 23:19three episodes. Yeah, you know, the one who
- 23:23falls off the when they're climbing that side and he falls
- 23:26into one of the mines that was horrible.
- 23:30And we haven't mentioned Ahsoka. Who snuck in on this up.
- 23:34Right, right. So I have some weird feelings
- 23:38about that because she's like straight up lies.
- 23:41Oh 100%. But it works out.
- 23:44Yeah. But still like that's not very
- 23:46Jedi to just like bold-faced lie bald-faced lie, whatever the
- 23:50phrase is Is like just make up that pulao Coon told her to join
- 23:54the mission and then a I want to jump ahead to the last episode.
- 23:58But still like yeah. The final conversation is
- 24:00questionable. Yeah.
- 24:02Exactly. Yeah.
- 24:05She. Um, she pulls a fast one.
- 24:08You know, assuming let's assume that the cryogenic freezing
- 24:12didn't turn out, right? They've had, they would have one
- 24:15extra like Casualty. That was unnecessary.
- 24:19Yeah. Now granted she does, they all
- 24:23make it, they show up there. Oh, look a Sokka.
- 24:27What are you doing here Ahsoka? And turns out that she's really
- 24:32really necessary on this trip, right?
- 24:35And saves their asses one or two times, where None of the others
- 24:39could do what she does. Like, going through the little
- 24:42shaft crawling through because she was small, when you can see
- 24:47the entire Arc, she's working extra hard to prove herself.
- 24:52Yes. And she's taking it in stride.
- 24:55Yeah. Is it she's because she she
- 24:58snuck in Sitka question. I think she's trying to prove to
- 25:01Anakin that she can handle the risk.
- 25:03Oh, 100%. And I want to know what your
- 25:06thoughts are on this. I I don't feel 100% certain what
- 25:10tone they're trying to take their because at the beginning
- 25:13Ahsoka Anakin says to Ahsoka, you do or die on this Mission
- 25:18and that's not a risk. I'm willing to share with you.
- 25:22Why is this Mission anymore do or die than any other one that
- 25:26they've been on? Is it because I've just been to
- 25:29the Citadel where she did actually died.
- 25:32I'm sorry. The Citadel.
- 25:33They've just been to mortise where she did actually die or I
- 25:36think so. Is he being overly protective
- 25:40and then it she hundred percent but also like she's not taking
- 25:45orders, right? Like he is her teacher her
- 25:48master and she's just straight up telling him.
- 25:50You don't get to decide things for me.
- 25:53Yeah. And I know I can't get a sense
- 25:55of who's, right? Maybe that's the point.
- 25:59Yeah. Like the episode doesn't take a
- 26:01side necessarily. I don't know.
- 26:04I just thought it was. It raises all these.
- 26:08As questions but doesn't answer them.
- 26:10I thought it was kind of interesting, I compared to what
- 26:14happened on mortis. I would say that that was a
- 26:18soaked as trial and she passed. Now, knowing Anakin's
- 26:25deep-seated fear of loss, I could see him being like oh no,
- 26:30not again, and not in succession.
- 26:32Are you going to come and almost get killed again?
- 26:35Like maybe he needs a period of weak, but we don't know how much
- 26:38time passed between mortise and this Arc, like, technically in
- 26:41the timeline. But it probably would take
- 26:45Anakin longer than the average Master to let their Padawan back
- 26:51into a date. Like oh.
- 26:51An overprotective parent. You're not going to let them
- 26:54just go do the same thing. After you still feeling may be
- 26:59somewhat responsible because a lot of that was on Anakin's
- 27:02shoulders and mortis. Yeah, he's probably carrying
- 27:05that around because that's what Anakin does best.
- 27:07He just keeps it, holds it carries it over, you know, over
- 27:11does it. And but at the same time, She's
- 27:17becoming more independent and more sure of herself and maybe
- 27:21he doesn't want to lose the master part similar to like how
- 27:26Qui-Gon just kind of want to say ditched Obi-Wan.
- 27:30But once you come into yourself, you don't need a master anymore
- 27:34and maybe Anakin wanted to be needed in that respect and
- 27:36wanted to be like, no, you can't go because I still have say
- 27:41here, you know, maybe that's a stretch but I think it's an
- 27:45interesting point. Honestly he loves her.
- 27:49That's his kid, sister. And like, as soon as the kid
- 27:52sister doesn't need her big brother anymore, that's gotta
- 27:55hurt. Yeah, that's a hard adaptation
- 27:58honestly. That's hard for even parents,
- 28:01whose kids go to college? You know, it's hard to adjust to
- 28:04not being needed because you are needed by your kids.
- 28:08And then all of a sudden, they don't want to need you anymore.
- 28:11Yeah. That would be a really hard
- 28:12adjustment. We all know.
- 28:14Anakin is no good at adjusting to anything.
- 28:17No. When he really, really likes
- 28:19being needed so because he really needs everyone.
- 28:23So it's kind of, I don't know, it's always sad with those two
- 28:27because obviously Ahsoka is very capable of herself.
- 28:31She proves it over and over its I just I don't know.
- 28:36I think it was left ambiguous. I guess to answer your question,
- 28:39I don't know if there is a right answer.
- 28:41Yeah, it's interesting because they like they usually take
- 28:45aside and I don't really feel like at least in this episode.
- 28:49I don't feel like there's a side maybe by the end of the arc will
- 28:52feel it more? But doesn't she also play a
- 28:55little, not Devil's Advocate, but almost because Target she
- 28:59doesn't like Tarkin as she hears them Gap in, Anakin's ear,
- 29:02right? And she's watching this, and
- 29:06she's coming from a more unbiased perspective.
- 29:10She's really what the fuck's going on?
- 29:11These two, you know. Yeah, she's always watching and
- 29:15trying to figure out what is going on with Anakin, you know,
- 29:19between like Kodama when he was, he had the lightsaber up to the
- 29:22dudes neck and the ship. She was like, what the fuck?
- 29:25And then? Why is he so angry about the
- 29:28slaves and stuff. And, and then in mortis, you
- 29:32know, just when he had to choose technically between Obi-Wan and
- 29:36Ahsoka but he'd saved both and and all this stuff, I just feel
- 29:39like this is piling up in ahsoka's.
- 29:41Rain and she's watching, and I can literally transform into
- 29:47something unrecognizable or slowly unrecognizable to her.
- 29:52Yeah, you know, we don't know where she stands with doubts in
- 29:56the on the Jedi at this point, right?
- 30:00No, I well, I mean by kadavo, which is later, she's still
- 30:06encouraging. Yeah, the governor to join the
- 30:10Republic at the very least. Instead, she doesn't seem to
- 30:12have doubts about the Jedi until the Jedi doubt.
- 30:14Her idea. I think she might have more
- 30:17doubts about Anakin and seeing the inconsistency maybe between
- 30:22his teachings and what the Jedi say is appropriate.
- 30:26But speaking of that, like Obi-Wan even says to her I see
- 30:30you're taking the do as I say, not as I do approach.
- 30:34It's like that's that's just hold that mirror up to yourself,
- 30:40master Kenobi. Look at all three of them are
- 30:45Classics do as I say, not as I do well, you know, it ends up
- 30:51working out in some instances, but it takes all of them, you
- 30:56know, the real hero of the Citadel episode and Arc is
- 31:00R2-D2. Yes.
- 31:03Pretty much. Yeah they don't be screwed
- 31:05without him as usual. He's there to facilitate the
- 31:11Masters and keep them all together.
- 31:13Like just keep it together because he's the one that flies
- 31:16the ship in with like a with a makeshift.
- 31:20Roger. Roger Droid right.
- 31:22Yeah he's got three battles rides.
- 31:24Also why the fuck was threepio in this episode at all?
- 31:28Except for sure? I don't began service because
- 31:32he's padme's Droid at this point.
- 31:35Why is he at the Jedi Temple randomly with R2D2?
- 31:39I don't know. I'm sorry.
- 31:40I just get It annoyed when he shows up, I know you do.
- 31:45I know you do well, maybe he's running errands or something,
- 31:50you just stay. Yeah.
- 31:51ER, to just to say hi. Check out the carbon-freezing
- 31:55facility. Yeah.
- 31:56Yeah. You never know.
- 31:57Well, it's funny we maybe had to be there because he's there in
- 32:01Empire, Strikes. Back in a sense?
- 32:03Yeah, I guess yes. I understand gangs here.
- 32:09I don't know our to our Who is the, is the real MVP in Star
- 32:14Wars period literally pull? Weight of the story is on his
- 32:19back. Well, I will say though, that
- 32:22Obi-Wan has some very sexy moments and that's the whole
- 32:25thing, the hair hair that he does a pull up, which is great
- 32:31when he picks up over that little Edge.
- 32:33Yes, exactly. When we don't get the nostrils,
- 32:36it's like that. Take some upper body strength
- 32:39and you and I have commented on it before.
- 32:41It's true. He's got to be strong to do it
- 32:45or weigh as much as a piece of paper with.
- 32:48No, he's got the Dorito shape. The she does is to the down to
- 32:51the waist ratio and if you're not sure how big he is, look at
- 32:56revenge and there's a scene where oh, Ventress tries to roll
- 33:02him over and he looks huge compared to her, I love that.
- 33:06It's really interesting to see that because he always doesn't
- 33:08look that big because he's next to Anakin, I'm going to say
- 33:11next. Ventures, he looks huge.
- 33:12Well then, can you imagine how big Anakin is?
- 33:14I can I'm sure you can. Well, I also love the moment
- 33:22where Obi-Wan does the die-hard run, or you like they said, all
- 33:26the explosives off, any runs down, the hall with the bombs
- 33:29going up behind him. Yes, Man.
- 33:32Yes. Yeah.
- 33:33II love. I just love how every time that
- 33:38they're in the Citadel and they Bypass, or Defeat one of the
- 33:42like booby traps or thing you know the guy what's his name is
- 33:46sitting there like ooh let's press this button and see what
- 33:49happens and then they like I totally defeat whatever that is
- 33:53he gets increasingly more and more irate.
- 33:56Yes. It kind of gets like mad
- 33:58Professor E like dressed. They beat me, let's try this.
- 34:05And then he cone something up. Like I don't know, he's living
- 34:07there alone by himself with a bunch of droids probably dream.
- 34:11Ways to like, you know, carry out things.
- 34:15Yeah that's all he does all day long.
- 34:18He's described on Wikipedia as sadistic.
- 34:21So yep, yes, 100 percent yearly, he's got some issues, I mean the
- 34:27fact that he's a combination of Al Pacino and Christopher Walken
- 34:32is he's not what makes it even funnier.
- 34:36So perfect. If Christopher Walken worked in
- 34:40the Well, I would go and hang out there.
- 34:45Who wouldn't? Oh my God, it must be really
- 34:50funny to be James Arnold Taylor doing both those parts because
- 34:54they talk to each other. And from what they say, I've
- 34:58seen a bunch of interviews, the characters like the actors,
- 35:02don't don't do one character and then do a new take as they just
- 35:06switch back and forth while the reportedly hard well as Dee
- 35:09Bradley Baker, how that works. X, seriously.
- 35:12Yeah, he played the torture Droid in this episode and all
- 35:16the Clones. Like and Ashley was the, oh the
- 35:21Tactical Droid. She was the Tactical Droid.
- 35:23He was at the Tactical Droid. Hmm.
- 35:27Wow, interesting. I love how they do that.
- 35:31They'll just have the actors do some secondary voices for the
- 35:34episode if they're there. Why not?
- 35:37Well, cool. The first time I watched it, it
- 35:40never registered to me. And then I started researching
- 35:42and I was all what they did those voices too.
- 35:45Yeah. That's always my reaction.
- 35:47I'm just always and forever impressed by voice actors.
- 35:50I mean. Yeah.
- 35:52So this episode is, is it sets the stage for the nonsense and
- 35:57craziness that ends up happening in the next?
- 35:59It to yes, which we will cover. There's more Tarkin, there's way
- 36:06more Tarkin, he can go fuck himself.
- 36:08But this is one of our favorite episodes that you and I used to
- 36:11watch together and Rewind, play Rewind, play Rewind, one more
- 36:16time, play that scene over again, you know, good freeze,
- 36:20the interface have to close it out.
- 36:22Relaunches, send the link to each other again, I regret
- 36:26nothing. Sam.
- 36:34All right, our audience question, this week to you is,
- 36:37did you expect to see good old Tarkin show up in the Citadel
- 36:42episode? Because I sure as shit didn't
- 36:45do. It totally took me by surprise
- 36:47when I first saw that episode. It was quite a shock.
- 36:51Yeah, but I loved it. I did to that guy.
- 36:55The guy voices him very well very well.
- 37:00Join us back here next week. We're gonna dive in to the
- 37:02second episode of this Arc. The episode is called
- 37:05counter-attack. There's more Shenanigans, more
- 37:08torture, more Tarkenton. We're targeting.
- 37:12It's gonna be a delightful. Shitshow should come.
- 37:17I can't sit a delightful. Sure, sure, sure.

- 37:48I Gina also a patron, she personally told me she loves the
- 37:56idea. Well, first of all, she
- 37:58congratulated us Again on the huh, making our way to London,
- 38:04but she's she said, it's a fantastic idea to have the
- 38:08merchandise with a QR code. She and she said, now that I
- 38:11know what one is, I would use it.
- 38:16And she also gave me very pointed advice that I need to
- 38:19behave and don't strain my voice.
- 38:23If I'm gonna do this panel, that's true.
- 38:25You can't strain your voice just Because you want to enjoy
- 38:29yourself but most importantly because you're a panelist, you
- 38:32have to be able to talk and she said now you stop that Lee and
- 38:36you stop yourself you behave. And don't do that.
- 38:40And I said, okay, so there's our comment from the week some
- 38:43motherly advice on. Thank you Gina on our trip to
- 38:48London. So thanks, Molly, love you.
