Latest / Revelio: A Wizarding World Podcast / Episode 21: Stepping into the Theme Parks - Diagon Alley
Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to episode twenty one of Ravellio for
- 0:13Speaker 1: June twelfth, twenty twenty five. I'm Amy, I'm Nicole, and
- 0:33Speaker 1: I'm Tom.
- 0:36Speaker 2: So today we are going to be well. First of all,
- 0:39Speaker 2: welcome back, Nicole.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Hey, thank you.
- 0:42Speaker 4: I when I was listening to the last episode, Yeah,
- 0:46Speaker 4: I saw on the show notes.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I'm sorry I did not pack you guys in my suitcase.
- 0:49Speaker 4: My suitcases are already too full to add anybody else.
- 0:52Speaker 3: But darn no. Had a very nice Memorial Day weekend
- 0:56Speaker 3: at Disney.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Did not go to Universal this trip because I'll there
- 1:00Speaker 4: very shortly here.
- 1:02Speaker 3: But it a nice weekend at Disney.
- 1:04Speaker 4: It was very very hot, so it'll be probably even
- 1:09Speaker 4: hotter when I'm back in a couple of weeks.
- 1:11Speaker 1: So how bad were the crowds, you know, for being.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Memorial Day weekend?
- 1:16Speaker 4: I will say I was really surprised at the actual
- 1:21Speaker 4: Memorial Day was easily the least crowded day, and we
- 1:27Speaker 4: did Hollywood Studios that on that particular day, but every
- 1:31Speaker 4: other day was busier. And I will say I've gone
- 1:33Speaker 4: to Disney on holidays the last couple of years, like
- 1:36Speaker 4: I typically go for Labor Day and that's usually you know,
- 1:41Speaker 4: it's quieter because by that point, like a lot of
- 1:43Speaker 4: the kids are back in school. But you'd think that
- 1:47Speaker 4: the actual holiday would be super busy, and it's just not.
- 1:50Speaker 4: And I don't know if it's because people are out
- 1:52Speaker 4: doing like cookouts or they're just you know, out doing
- 1:55Speaker 4: other things. But yeah, I will say actual Memorial Day
- 1:58Speaker 4: was not that bad. It was crowded, trust me, but
- 2:03Speaker 4: it was it wasn't that bad. So but we'll see
- 2:07Speaker 4: because obviously there's still a lot of kids still in
- 2:10Speaker 4: school at the end of you know, May, especially up north,
- 2:14Speaker 4: so I'm sure you know, when we're back at the
- 2:18Speaker 4: end of June, it'll be it'll be busier.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 2:25Speaker 2: So speaking of theme parks, on this episode, we are
- 2:30Speaker 2: going to be continuing our theme park miniseries with a
- 2:33Speaker 2: detailed look at Diagon Alley at Universal Studios.
- 2:37Speaker 6: But first, listening to w W in the Wizarding Wireless
- 2:47Speaker 6: Network now for the latest headlines.
- 2:51Speaker 4: So we have quite a lot of news to talk
- 2:53Speaker 4: about this episode, because it seems like every time we
- 2:56Speaker 4: release an episode, immediately after there is like breaking news.
- 3:01Speaker 4: So before we get into every every time, we just
- 3:04Speaker 4: expected at this point, So before we get into our
- 3:07Speaker 4: biggest news, got a little bit of.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Some more minor news that still wanted to cover.
- 3:13Speaker 4: So we found out that the next stop for the
- 3:16Speaker 4: interactive art experience Harry Potter Visions of Magic.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Will be in Mexico City, so that's exciting.
- 3:24Speaker 4: We've also gotten quite a bit of merch announcements. So
- 3:28Speaker 4: Lego released their summer range, which has a ton of
- 3:33Speaker 4: cool Lego sets. There's the main tower of Hogwarts Castle.
- 3:37Speaker 4: There's a Herbology class scene. One of the coolest ones
- 3:41Speaker 4: I think is it's the Hogwarts Express but it actually
- 3:44Speaker 4: is Bookends. But it's a Lego set but it's Bookends.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Oh that's very cool. Might have to get it.
- 3:51Speaker 4: There's a Monster Book of Monsters, aunt Merge's Visit to
- 3:54Speaker 4: Privet Drive Fox. I think there's like a Festal set
- 3:59Speaker 4: as well. So lots of really cool Lego sets. They
- 4:03Speaker 4: seem to just never run out of ideas. And then
- 4:07Speaker 4: jersey Jackpinball is coming out with three editions of Harry
- 4:11Speaker 4: Potter themed pinball machines. So these look really cool. They
- 4:17Speaker 4: are quite pricey though, I think the cheapest one is
- 4:20Speaker 4: nine nine and ninety nine dollars and that's the paid edition,
- 4:25Speaker 4: and then I think the next one's like twelve thousand,
- 4:27Speaker 4: and then the most expensive one is fifteen thousand, and
- 4:30Speaker 4: you do have to put down a deposit that's like
- 4:33Speaker 4: I think.
- 4:33Speaker 3: At least like one thousand dollars.
- 4:37Speaker 4: But they're so cool and I think the coolest thing
- 4:40Speaker 4: about them is yes, the Collector's Addition comes with an
- 4:44Speaker 4: exclusive art package that was created by men Alma.
- 4:49Speaker 2: And they never disappoint never, So you.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Can take a look.
- 4:53Speaker 4: You can either go Actually, if you go right to
- 4:55Speaker 4: the official Harrypotter dot com website, they have a story
- 4:58Speaker 4: on this and it links to Jersey Jackpinball, but you
- 5:01Speaker 4: can see pictures of the pinball machine.
- 5:04Speaker 3: So super cool.
- 5:07Speaker 4: And then also have to plug this because if you
- 5:10Speaker 4: remember a couple episodes ago, I talked about how I
- 5:13Speaker 4: was so upset on Record Store Day that I missed
- 5:16Speaker 4: out on Sorcerer's Stone. Vinyl Amy also had missed out
- 5:20Speaker 4: on a couple.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Well, I learned that.
- 5:25Speaker 3: The that wasn't your only chance to get them, so
- 5:28Speaker 3: we didn't miss speak. When we initially.
- 5:30Speaker 4: Said that they were Record store Day first, I learned
- 5:33Speaker 4: their Record Store Day first, and they were exclusive, So
- 5:35Speaker 4: what was exclusive on record Store Day was the clear vinyl,
- 5:39Speaker 4: but Sorcerer's Stone through Goblet of Fire was just released
- 5:42Speaker 4: on June sixth on a standard black pressing, and everything
- 5:46Speaker 4: else about it is the same as.
- 5:47Speaker 3: What was released on Record Store Day, So you betcha.
- 5:51Speaker 4: I pre ordered that Sorcerer's Stone as soon as I
- 5:53Speaker 4: learned about it so that I could have that. And
- 5:56Speaker 4: so if you missed out on those, or maybe even
- 5:59Speaker 4: didn't learn about it till after Record Store Day, you
- 6:02Speaker 4: can go anywhere that you can get vinyls and pick
- 6:05Speaker 4: up Sorcer'stone through Goblet of Fire on a standard black pressing.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Right news m And I was telling Amy and Tom
- 6:13Speaker 4: in our group chat that I'm really hoping that next
- 6:16Speaker 4: year will be when we'll get the remainder of the series,
- 6:20Speaker 4: and I think it'll probably be that same thing where
- 6:23Speaker 4: we'll have the clear come out on Record Store Day
- 6:25Speaker 4: and then the black standard pressings come out later.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Yes, please, we don't want an incomplete collection.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Yeah well Amy does, but yeah well yeah, an honor
- 6:37Speaker 4: of Amy's telling us yesterday that she doesn't plan to
- 6:39Speaker 4: get them all, I listened to my Chamber of Secret
- 6:41Speaker 4: vinyl and that I.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Enjoyed it for the both of us.
- 6:45Speaker 1: My problem is like, when I think of Chamber of Secrets,
- 6:48Speaker 1: I can't think of like that one stand out.
- 6:53Speaker 4: From the You have to go listen to it, because
- 6:55Speaker 4: if you go listen to it, you will because and.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Then I want to buy it. And then there's thirty
- 7:01Speaker 1: five dollars down the drain.
- 7:05Speaker 3: It is not down in the drain.
- 7:07Speaker 4: And I will say, also, I watched Chamber of Secrets
- 7:09Speaker 4: last night too, because I was saying that I just
- 7:12Speaker 4: feel like Chamber of Secrets does not get enough love,
- 7:15Speaker 4: and I really enjoy it. I do, and I think that, yeah,
- 7:18Speaker 4: it just like you said, Tom, it kind of gets
- 7:20Speaker 4: stuck between two favorites, but I really love it. So
- 7:24Speaker 4: if you go back and you listen to that soundtrack, Amy,
- 7:27Speaker 4: we'll revisit this conversation. I think you'll realize, oh, yeah,
- 7:30Speaker 4: this one is classically a Chamber of Secrets, especially towards
- 7:34Speaker 4: the end of that soundtrack, when it's like the music
- 7:36Speaker 4: that's like in the Chamber, there's some iconic tracks there.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I mean there's like the Guilder Roy Lockhart theme and
- 7:44Speaker 1: stuff like That's.
- 7:46Speaker 3: That there's like yeah, it's yeah, yeah, Well it's a.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Little darker too than Sorcerer's Stone.
- 7:55Speaker 1: M I mean, who am I kidding? I'm gonna cave
- 8:00Speaker 1: and I'm gonna end up with all eight of these vinyls.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Of course you have to it's gonna happen, but I
- 8:05Speaker 1: just have to pretend like it's not gonna happen first. Yeah.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Well, and the good thing is I think these standard
- 8:14Speaker 4: back pressings will be available, like they're not like a
- 8:17Speaker 4: limited run or limited edition. They're so you have some
- 8:20Speaker 4: time to decide yes. And then I saw that Warner
- 8:29Speaker 4: Brothers Studio Tour London introduces an audience with and this
- 8:33Speaker 4: is going to be Q and A evenings with Harry
- 8:35Speaker 4: Potter filmmakers throughout the month of August.
- 8:39Speaker 3: So this sounds really exciting. It looks like it's going
- 8:41Speaker 3: to be hosted by the.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Stunt double for Rubius Hagrid and then they're having different
- 8:46Speaker 4: filmmakers come on throughout, you know, each week.
- 8:49Speaker 3: And if you go to.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Harry Potter dot com or even just the studio to
- 8:53Speaker 4: our website, you can see the schedule of like who's
- 8:56Speaker 4: going to be there, and it looks like there's also
- 8:58Speaker 4: like dinner and stuff too that you get as part
- 9:00Speaker 4: of the ticket. And everything. So I wish I lived
- 9:04Speaker 4: closer to go. You should go time.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I know I have to do the Goblet of Fire
- 9:10Speaker 2: theme and then like also, this one is really tempted
- 9:14Speaker 2: to do, like I could do both basically because it's
- 9:16Speaker 2: I think it's all the way through September we get
- 9:19Speaker 2: this Goblet of Fire themed attraction. So yeah, like I'm
- 9:25Speaker 2: I'm I don't know if I'm going to make it
- 9:27Speaker 2: with the audience Q and A evenings, but for sure
- 9:30Speaker 2: I'm going to make it to the Stoodoo tour around
- 9:33Speaker 2: these next couple of months for sure.
- 9:35Speaker 5: So yeah, looking forward, Yeah.
- 9:38Speaker 4: You'll have to be our like, you know, our UK
- 9:41Speaker 4: correspondent now and.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Yeah, you guys are.
- 9:46Speaker 3: In the US and so yeah, so now for our
- 9:53Speaker 3: biggest news.
- 9:54Speaker 4: So two major things happened after you know you guys
- 9:58Speaker 4: recorded last and so we have our new Golden Trio
- 10:03Speaker 4: for the HBO TV show.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Yeah, oh my gosh, they're adorable. I can't So I
- 10:12Speaker 1: was just like, like, I feel like I was cautiously
- 10:18Speaker 1: optimistic before and then seeing the picture, I was like, oh,
- 10:22Speaker 1: now I'm excited. They're so cute.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Yes, and I yeah, so we learned that Dominic McLaughlin
- 10:30Speaker 4: will be cast as Harry Potter, arabellas Stanton is Hermione Granger,
- 10:33Speaker 4: and Alistair Stout as Ron Weasley. And we learned that
- 10:37Speaker 4: these three beat out over thirty thousand other children who
- 10:41Speaker 4: auditioned in this open casting call, which is insane.
- 10:44Speaker 3: And yeah, I'm surprised by how quickly I was on board.
- 10:51Speaker 4: As soon as I saw your picture. I thought that
- 10:54Speaker 4: I would have more reservations. You know, we've talked a
- 10:57Speaker 4: lot about that, like we obviously have such nostalgia and
- 11:00Speaker 4: such affinity for you know, the films, and those will
- 11:03Speaker 4: always be my favorite. And I was really expecting to
- 11:07Speaker 4: feel more like they're not Dan Rupert and Emma like
- 11:10Speaker 4: who are these? But I just like looked at them
- 11:12Speaker 4: and I'm like, oh my god, they're around and Hermione
- 11:15Speaker 4: like I just I can't believe how quickly my brain
- 11:18Speaker 4: just accepted it.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Well, especially Alistair as Ron. Yeah, that was when I
- 11:26Speaker 1: saw him. I was like, oh, yes.
- 11:29Speaker 3: See, I felt that way.
- 11:30Speaker 1: He looks like I thought, so good.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Like I just especially once I saw that video that
- 11:36Speaker 4: was making us around on TikTok of her in some
- 11:39Speaker 4: kind of audition. We don't know if that was like
- 11:41Speaker 4: part of her audition for Hermione or what it was for.
- 11:44Speaker 4: But I just was like, oh my gosh, she is Hermione.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Like there's all the videos of her in Matilda as
- 11:52Speaker 1: well from the West End. Yeah, she just looks like
- 11:55Speaker 1: she'll be very good.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I like.
- 11:58Speaker 1: That they got kids with a little bit of experience,
- 12:01Speaker 1: but not like movie experience, like you like wouldn't know
- 12:06Speaker 1: who they were, but like they've been acting. I think
- 12:10Speaker 1: that's nice. They're not just like dropping kids in just
- 12:14Speaker 1: because they look the part, like they have a little
- 12:17Speaker 1: bit of background, which is good.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, well see how they deliver.
- 12:29Speaker 2: But yeah, that's a flight to these new kids.
- 12:32Speaker 4: I mean, so crazy to think about how like much
- 12:35Speaker 4: their lives are like about to just change so much.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Well, and when this news came out, Tom had shared
- 12:44Speaker 1: an article with us in the group chat about the
- 12:47Speaker 1: audition process. I don't remember what was the news source
- 12:51Speaker 1: was a BBC.
- 12:52Speaker 3: It was a BBC article. I pulled it up last night, Okay.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I just remember. And the part that kind of stood
- 12:59Speaker 1: out to me that I commented to these guys about
- 13:02Speaker 1: already was how not just the talent in what the
- 13:09Speaker 1: kids looked like was taken into account, but like also
- 13:13Speaker 1: their support system around them and would they be able
- 13:17Speaker 1: to have a support system to navigate just the amount
- 13:21Speaker 1: of crazy that's going to happen being part of this franchise.
- 13:26Speaker 1: And I thought that was really good to see because
- 13:28Speaker 1: that's kind of been a worry in the back of
- 13:30Speaker 1: my mind of like, Ooh, I'm a little scared for
- 13:33Speaker 1: these kids who are going to get thrown into this
- 13:35Speaker 1: and everything that's going to come with it. So that
- 13:38Speaker 1: was kind of nice to read that. Okay, that was
- 13:40Speaker 1: taken into account, and they're kind of making sure they're
- 13:44Speaker 1: setting them up to be successful for the long haul
- 13:48Speaker 1: and have that support system so hopefully they can navigate
- 13:52Speaker 1: child stardom a little bit easier.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Yeah, Like there are accounts at least I checked arabella account,
- 14:00Speaker 2: and it's a parent managed so it's not like she's
- 14:04Speaker 2: there alone, Like it's obviously has you know, it's either
- 14:08Speaker 2: fully controlled by her parents or just you know, them
- 14:13Speaker 2: making sure that everything is you know, stays clean and
- 14:15Speaker 2: nice and you know she doesn't have like because there's
- 14:18Speaker 2: been a lot of people talking online and they keep
- 14:22Speaker 2: talking and they are targeting these kids and you know,
- 14:25Speaker 2: it's not nice to hear it because they're just kids
- 14:27Speaker 2: and they're you know, their children, and they're not like
- 14:31Speaker 2: whether we like this decision that Warner Brothers made or not,
- 14:34Speaker 2: Like we cannot blame it on the kids because if
- 14:36Speaker 2: I were ten years old, then I would have loved
- 14:38Speaker 2: to jump at this opportunity as well. So it's not
- 14:41Speaker 2: about them, you know. If anything, just you know, keep
- 14:44Speaker 2: complaining to Warner if anything, but don't take it on
- 14:46Speaker 2: the kids, because you know, we don't want to, you know,
- 14:50Speaker 2: give these these kids traumas or anything. And you know,
- 14:53Speaker 2: we know that that being child stars is hard in
- 14:58Speaker 2: this business. So yeah, hopeful they are protected from all
- 15:01Speaker 2: of this and they have you know, very they're they're
- 15:06Speaker 2: you know, treated well and they're protected and they have,
- 15:10Speaker 2: like you guys said, a great support system around them,
- 15:13Speaker 2: because it's not going to be easy to navigate this,
- 15:17Speaker 2: Like they're going to be constantly you know, whether we
- 15:19Speaker 2: like it or not, there are going to be constantly
- 15:21Speaker 2: compared to Dan, Rupert and Emma, and yeah, they're just
- 15:26Speaker 2: going to have to you know, have this very big
- 15:28Speaker 2: group support group around them.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Yeah. I just hope they get to have that nice,
- 15:34Speaker 1: positive fun experience that a lot of the people from
- 15:39Speaker 1: the original films talk about, you know, those days on
- 15:42Speaker 1: set as kids. I hope they get that, and I
- 15:46Speaker 1: hope it kind of still has the same vibe of
- 15:48Speaker 1: like they were kids being kids on set. I hope
- 15:52Speaker 1: that's the same for this cast.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I think in it.
- 15:56Speaker 4: I mean, I think what's really hard about it is
- 15:58Speaker 4: that times have changed a lot since those original films,
- 16:04Speaker 4: especially just the growth of social media, and so I
- 16:07Speaker 4: hope that, you know, like you said, Amy, like on set,
- 16:10Speaker 4: they're able to create this almost like this bubble atmosphere
- 16:14Speaker 4: for them where it's like we're here doing this and
- 16:17Speaker 4: like we're ignoring like the outside things. And you know,
- 16:20Speaker 4: because I think that like Dan Rubert and Emma like
- 16:23Speaker 4: especially in those earlier films really didn't have to like
- 16:26Speaker 4: navigate social media and stuff like that in the way that.
- 16:31Speaker 3: We do now.
- 16:32Speaker 5: Right.
- 16:34Speaker 4: So but either way, I'm excited and I'm happy for them,
- 16:39Speaker 4: and I have seen a lot of positive things actually.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Online about them, so that feels good.
- 16:48Speaker 4: But yeah, we'll see I feel like every casting announcement
- 16:51Speaker 4: now it's like now it feels like really real, like
- 16:53Speaker 4: even more than the like Professor kind of announcement that
- 16:58Speaker 4: we got.
- 16:59Speaker 3: It's just.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, thatsht it.
- 17:07Speaker 2: And I wonder how they will make it their own
- 17:09Speaker 2: because they're so you know, they're so young, and obviously
- 17:12Speaker 2: they have some talent background, but like I want to
- 17:15Speaker 2: see how much they, like, are they studying whatever they
- 17:20Speaker 2: see in the films?
- 17:21Speaker 5: Are they not?
- 17:21Speaker 2: Or are they just taken you know, direct going directly
- 17:25Speaker 2: to the source material to you know, to give it
- 17:28Speaker 2: a different spin on the character, because obviously they are
- 17:31Speaker 2: going to be different. So I'm very curious to see
- 17:34Speaker 2: how we're going to get these characters and how they're
- 17:36Speaker 2: going to find and make it their own.
- 17:39Speaker 4: So yeah, yeah, And our last bit of news, I
- 17:44Speaker 4: think it's definitely something that no one saw coming. I
- 17:47Speaker 4: mean I did not see this coming at all, but
- 17:51Speaker 4: was the announcement that Tom fell In will be reprising
- 17:54Speaker 4: his role as Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter and The
- 17:57Speaker 4: Curse Child in New York City on Broadway.
- 18:01Speaker 3: So he will be there for nineteen weeks only.
- 18:04Speaker 4: You can catch him from November eleventh, twenty twenty five,
- 18:08Speaker 4: through March twenty second, twenty twenty six, at the Lyric
- 18:11Speaker 4: Theater in New York City by the time this episode
- 18:16Speaker 4: comes out, the pre sale will have already happened. But
- 18:18Speaker 4: there's a pre sale starting June tenth, which is in
- 18:21Speaker 4: a couple days after US recording, and tickets are going
- 18:24Speaker 4: on sale to the general public on June twelfth. I'm
- 18:28Speaker 4: really curious to see, like because I have to go,
- 18:30Speaker 4: and so I am really curious to see, like how
- 18:33Speaker 4: quickly these tickets sell because I have to like plan here,
- 18:38Speaker 4: but I have to go because I just love Top and.
- 18:44Speaker 3: I'm so excited for this announcement.
- 18:48Speaker 1: It was just so funny when that's happened, because it
- 18:53Speaker 1: started as an online rumor, like it was like a
- 18:58Speaker 1: Reddit rumor. We were talking about that in another group
- 19:03Speaker 1: chat that we're in, and then literally fifteen minutes later,
- 19:07Speaker 1: I saw the official announcement on Chris child Instagram.
- 19:10Speaker 5: And I was like, that's crazy.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Well, it was a rumor for fifteen minutes. Now it's official.
- 19:16Speaker 3: They really kept that. I feel like it really.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Got kept under wraps. And that's why I said, I
- 19:22Speaker 4: really feel like it's like no one saw it coming,
- 19:24Speaker 4: and it was perfectly announced on Draco's birthday, and the
- 19:28Speaker 4: official Harry Potter account has just been posting so much
- 19:31Speaker 4: Draco content level lately, and I love it as like
- 19:35Speaker 4: a little like low key Draco fan, I think.
- 19:39Speaker 2: And Tom loves it too. He's living every single minute
- 19:42Speaker 2: of this.
- 19:42Speaker 1: He's eating it up. He was at the people were
- 19:46Speaker 1: store opening. Now he's going to be in Crischild.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Yeah, or people saying oh they I'm I'm you know,
- 19:52Speaker 2: I'm thinking how much they had to pay him or
- 19:55Speaker 2: how much they had to drag him into this, and like, no,
- 19:57Speaker 2: they didn't like he probably was at for this.
- 20:00Speaker 5: They probably called them up.
- 20:02Speaker 1: It was like, hey, I have an idea. I'm free
- 20:05Speaker 1: from number to March.
- 20:07Speaker 3: I want to make my Broadway debut.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Well, in practicing in the mirror, I think it's pretty good.
- 20:13Speaker 3: I think I can play Draco well.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Speaking of that, I mean, I pulled this quote that
- 20:18Speaker 4: he said, which I thought was really nice. So he said,
- 20:20Speaker 4: joining this production will be a full circle moment for
- 20:23Speaker 4: me because when I begin performances and Curse Child this fall,
- 20:26Speaker 4: I'll also be the exact age Draco is in the play.
- 20:30Speaker 4: It's surreal to be stepping back into his shoes and
- 20:33Speaker 4: of course his iconic platinum blonde hair, and I am
- 20:36Speaker 4: thrilled to be able to see his story through and
- 20:38Speaker 4: to share it with the greatest fan community in the world.
- 20:40Speaker 4: I look forward to joining this incredible company and being
- 20:42Speaker 4: a part of the Broadway community.
- 20:47Speaker 1: It is really cool, Like when you think about it,
- 20:49Speaker 1: how many actors get that chance to play the same
- 20:52Speaker 1: character as.
- 20:53Speaker 3: A child and an adult.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that's very cool. So good for him.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm really happy for him.
- 21:00Speaker 4: And he looks great, Like in the my little like
- 21:03Speaker 4: Dremione fangirl is just like so excited for this.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, is it just me or like I
- 21:12Speaker 1: feel like lately he's looking healthier and like more like
- 21:18Speaker 1: his old self, and that makes me very happy. Like,
- 21:21Speaker 1: I think he went through a little bit of a
- 21:23Speaker 1: rough patch, so it's nice to see that he's like
- 21:27Speaker 1: doing well.
- 21:29Speaker 2: So yeah, I'm glad, Yeah, definitely. But it's also fun
- 21:32Speaker 2: to see how like I never imagined they would, you know,
- 21:35Speaker 2: they would kind of like start blending these universes together,
- 21:39Speaker 2: because they were always so separate from you know, the
- 21:42Speaker 2: design and the actors chosen for the parts. It was
- 21:46Speaker 2: such a different, like a counterpart was so different from
- 21:48Speaker 2: the movies. So it's it was very surprising to see
- 21:51Speaker 2: that they're, you know, kind of like blending these two in,
- 21:54Speaker 2: and it makes me think, like, oh, what if we
- 21:56Speaker 2: you know, suddenly get Bonnie right back, or what if
- 21:58Speaker 2: we get like I was a couple more of the
- 22:00Speaker 2: film actors from the you know, it would be it'd
- 22:04Speaker 2: be really interesting now because now that they planted this seed,
- 22:07Speaker 2: it's like, Okay, let's see what else you got, you know.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I fully expect Jason Isaacs to be right there
- 22:14Speaker 4: front row him too.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Well.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Jason Isaacs was doing like the conversation with thing. When
- 22:21Speaker 1: is that supposed to happen?
- 22:22Speaker 3: I think it already happened.
- 22:25Speaker 2: He also shared Tom's post on Instagram, like an Instagram post,
- 22:29Speaker 2: and he was saying like he was a proud father
- 22:31Speaker 2: father and.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just so heartwarming. And yeah, I just love
- 22:39Speaker 4: this announcement. I know that, you know, I'm sure everything.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Everyone's got different opinions about things. But I'm really excited
- 22:46Speaker 4: for Tom. I'm really excited to go see him on Broadway.
- 22:50Speaker 4: I just need to figure out when, but I will
- 22:53Speaker 4: be there, a huge fan of Tom. Yeah great, so
- 23:02Speaker 4: that's our news, some big ones, all right, something else
- 23:06Speaker 4: will happen right after we stop recording.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Yes, you bets so For today's main discussion, we're going
- 23:19Speaker 2: to be continuing on our theme park discussion. This time
- 23:23Speaker 2: it's Orlando's Universal Studios turn with diagon Alley. So a
- 23:30Speaker 2: little bit about you know, the history of this park.
- 23:34Speaker 2: As we discussed in the previous episode, the Wizarding World
- 23:37Speaker 2: of Harry Potter was a phenomenon and a major cash
- 23:40Speaker 2: cow for Warner Brothers and Universal. So this kind of
- 23:44Speaker 2: this kind of success really sparked intense behind the scenes
- 23:46Speaker 2: conversations and rumors about a potential expansion of the themed
- 23:50Speaker 2: land started brewing in April twenty eleven. So on December sixth,
- 23:56Speaker 2: twenty eleven, Universal confirmed that the Woods World was expanding,
- 24:01Speaker 2: but they kept the details under wraps. Just a couple
- 24:05Speaker 2: days later, they made another big move, announcing the permanent
- 24:09Speaker 2: closure of the classic beloved Jaws ride at Universal Studios Florida,
- 24:14Speaker 2: and by January twenty twelve, the demolition of the Jaws
- 24:18Speaker 2: ride and the Amity area began. So, you know, one
- 24:23Speaker 2: thing I remember back in the day in forums, and
- 24:26Speaker 2: you know, this is was being discussed at the time.
- 24:30Speaker 2: There were people, you know, there was some controversy over
- 24:33Speaker 2: this because as many parkoers were not happy that the
- 24:36Speaker 2: Jaws ride was being demolished, and I feel like I
- 24:39Speaker 2: would have definitely felt as protective if they did this
- 24:43Speaker 2: with the you know, Harry Potter theme parks for a
- 24:45Speaker 2: newer popular franchise of the of the Future. So yeah,
- 24:50Speaker 2: I do remember that, Like it sparked a little controversy,
- 24:52Speaker 2: and not everyone was happy, obviously not the Harry Potter
- 24:56Speaker 2: fans because we were living every single moment.
- 24:59Speaker 3: But yeah, I think this still go ahead time.
- 25:04Speaker 2: No no, I was going to say, they still have
- 25:05Speaker 2: the Hollywood one, so and there's still.
- 25:07Speaker 4: A little homage to the Jaws ride that was there
- 25:11Speaker 4: as you're walking through that area.
- 25:13Speaker 3: I will say that, like.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Talking about this controversy, so as someone who's just a
- 25:17Speaker 4: big theme park fan in general, obviously we've.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Talked a lot about Like I.
- 25:21Speaker 4: Am, you know, a Disney annual passholder. I'm a big
- 25:23Speaker 4: Disney fan as well. Disney fans are living this same
- 25:26Speaker 4: kind of controversy right now. One of my favorite areas
- 25:29Speaker 4: of Magic Kingdom is being demolished for something else, and
- 25:33Speaker 4: I think that this is just, you know, it's unfortunately
- 25:37Speaker 4: going to be I think just the reality of theme
- 25:39Speaker 4: parks as theme parks I think just continue to grow
- 25:42Speaker 4: in their popularity, like even if there's there's not always
- 25:48Speaker 4: going to be space to expand, Like sometimes things are
- 25:51Speaker 4: going to have to go to allow something new in.
- 25:54Speaker 4: And I'm trying to come to terms with that myself,
- 25:57Speaker 4: you know, with certain things. But I'm actually kind of
- 26:01Speaker 4: said about this too, because I never got to experience
- 26:03Speaker 4: the Jaws ride, and.
- 26:04Speaker 3: I would have absolutely loved it.
- 26:06Speaker 4: And I kind of think, like, you know, seeing where
- 26:09Speaker 4: Diagon Alley is though in the park, it's like a
- 26:12Speaker 4: perfect placement, and so I can't imagine them putting it
- 26:15Speaker 4: anywhere else, Like they had to put it there because
- 26:18Speaker 4: they already had this like London facade kind of and
- 26:21Speaker 4: where else would.
- 26:22Speaker 3: You have put it?
- 26:22Speaker 4: Like something had to go, And yeah, unfortunately it was
- 26:27Speaker 4: it was Jaws. But I think the fact that they
- 26:29Speaker 4: were able to replace it with such an I mean,
- 26:34Speaker 4: I don't want to say equally popular, maybe I would
- 26:37Speaker 4: controversially say more popular franchise. You know, I think that
- 26:41Speaker 4: helps because sometimes when you see these replacements happening with
- 26:47Speaker 4: something that's maybe like is not a popular franchise, just
- 26:51Speaker 4: creates more you know, controversy. But I hope that maybe
- 26:54Speaker 4: like in the future, Jaws can have its moment again somewhere.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:00Speaker 4: I remember the controversy over this too, but at the
- 27:03Speaker 4: time I kind of like, man, forget another Harry Potter park.
- 27:06Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly right.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Yeah, So what was once Amity Lagoon was actually well
- 27:14Speaker 2: drained and constructure construction began on an elaborate show building
- 27:20Speaker 2: that would later we'd later learn would house the Escape
- 27:24Speaker 2: from Green Gots Ride. So on December thirteenth, twenty thirteen,
- 27:30Speaker 2: Universal Orlando officially announced the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
- 27:34Speaker 2: diagon Alley through a video on their YouTube channel. So
- 27:37Speaker 2: it featured the President of Universal Creative, Mark Woodbury, production
- 27:42Speaker 2: designer Stuir Craig from the Harry Potter Films, and Universal
- 27:45Speaker 2: Creative Vice President Dale Mason, and they confirmed it would
- 27:49Speaker 2: be opening in the summer of twenty fourteen. So on
- 27:54Speaker 2: January twenty third, twenty fourteen, we got the name of
- 27:58Speaker 2: the land's centerpiece of attraction, so the icing of the Cake,
- 28:01Speaker 2: and it would be Harry Potter and the Escape from Greenots.
- 28:05Speaker 2: They also confirmed a two park pass would be necessary
- 28:08Speaker 2: to ride the Hogwarts Express.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Of course, right.
- 28:13Speaker 4: It was from a business perspective, does the smartest thing ever,
- 28:18Speaker 4: smartest thing they can do. We are gonna put our
- 28:20Speaker 4: two Harry Potter parks in completely different lands, and we're
- 28:23Speaker 4: gonna give them that Hogwarts Express experience.
- 28:26Speaker 3: But you want to ride it, you better get a
- 28:28Speaker 3: Parts of park pass.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Mm hm, because you know, a Harry Potter fans not
- 28:32Speaker 1: gonna go and just go to one part.
- 28:36Speaker 4: I mean, right, you could get to one day tickets
- 28:42Speaker 4: and do one day yeah, you know at Islands and
- 28:45Speaker 4: another day Universal, But like, why when you can get
- 28:48Speaker 4: this great Hogwarts Express experience?
- 28:51Speaker 5: Mm hmmm.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Very smart business boom because I mean it got me.
- 28:58Speaker 5: Yep yep.
- 29:00Speaker 2: So a little bit about the opening of the park
- 29:04Speaker 2: flashbar to June seventeen, twenty fourteen, we got the biggest
- 29:08Speaker 2: and most exciting announcement, which was that dagon Alley would
- 29:11Speaker 2: be open to the public on July eighth. So on
- 29:16Speaker 2: June eighteen, twenty fourteen, there was a red carpet premiere
- 29:19Speaker 2: that included a star studied ensemble of cast members from
- 29:22Speaker 2: the films, such as Donald Gleason, Bonnie rd Evona Lynch,
- 29:26Speaker 2: Matthew Lewis, James and Oliver Phelps, Tom Felton, Roby Coltrane,
- 29:31Speaker 2: Warwick Davis, and Helena Bonham Carter and it was yeah,
- 29:35Speaker 2: I remember that.
- 29:36Speaker 5: I remember all of that.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Do you remember they did like a TV special of
- 29:42Speaker 1: that premiere. I feel like it was like NBC or
- 29:44Speaker 1: somebody did it, and it was like an hour long
- 29:47Speaker 1: like documentary behind the scenes of the parks. They had
- 29:53Speaker 1: like the Universal creative members like going around and talking
- 29:56Speaker 1: about the creation, and they had the cast members going
- 29:58Speaker 1: through and like doing the the Vanders experience and stuff.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Hm, I remember the interviews.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like it was that TV special that
- 30:09Speaker 1: like sold me on, like I need to go to
- 30:12Speaker 1: these parks, because to that point I hadn't been yet.
- 30:15Speaker 1: I'd not gone to Hogsmeat yet. And once Dye got
- 30:19Speaker 1: opened and I saw that, I was like, yeah, I
- 30:23Speaker 1: need to go.
- 30:29Speaker 2: So diagon Alley officially opened on July eighth, twenty fourteen,
- 30:36Speaker 2: and yeah, that's the day people started, you know, crowding
- 30:40Speaker 2: the park, a new area of the Harry Potter Land.
- 30:45Speaker 2: And so the park is, you know, as you enter
- 30:49Speaker 2: the wisdom world of Harry Potter diagon Alley, the magic
- 30:52Speaker 2: begins right away, even before you pass through the wall.
- 30:55Speaker 2: So from the outside the area is themed just like London.
- 30:59Speaker 2: You'll find yourself strolling past the red phone booth, spotting
- 31:03Speaker 2: the night bus and maybe even run in two stand
- 31:05Speaker 2: shump Pike.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Don't forget the shrunk and Head.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and the shrunking heads.
- 31:12Speaker 4: It's a great photop a great interactive experience to you know,
- 31:17Speaker 4: to go up and I've never act and all the
- 31:19Speaker 4: times I've gone, I've actually never like gone up and
- 31:22Speaker 4: talked to the shrunk and Head because I I'm like
- 31:24Speaker 4: that type of person who, like when I'm at Disney,
- 31:26Speaker 4: I don't really go up to the characters either because
- 31:28Speaker 4: I'm just like awkward and like having to have these conversations,
- 31:34Speaker 4: so I just watch people. It might have to change
- 31:38Speaker 4: that amy we might have to go talk to the
- 31:39Speaker 4: trunk and Head maybe if I have someone with me out.
- 31:41Speaker 2: You know, you definitely have to do it for epic
- 31:44Speaker 2: and talk to the students.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Yes that we're home, Yeah, yeah, definitely that To me,
- 31:50Speaker 4: it's different though, because they're like.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Humans.
- 31:54Speaker 4: I mean, obviously the person who does the voice of
- 31:56Speaker 4: the trunk head's a human too, but like you know
- 31:58Speaker 4: what I mean, It's like I feel it's it's different,
- 32:01Speaker 4: but I find character interactions to be very awkward, but
- 32:03Speaker 4: such a cool experience.
- 32:06Speaker 3: That you can get.
- 32:07Speaker 5: Yes, I love it.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that park. Yeah, just a note about the London section.
- 32:14Speaker 1: If you go inside the phone booth, you can actually
- 32:17Speaker 1: dial the entrance number for the Ministry of Magic and
- 32:20Speaker 1: it does come up with a little recording, so if
- 32:24Speaker 1: you don't remember, it's the numbers on the phone that
- 32:27Speaker 1: correspond to the letters that spell out magic, which for
- 32:31Speaker 1: all you kids out there who have no clue what
- 32:33Speaker 1: I'm talking about, I'll translate that for you. It is
- 32:36Speaker 1: six two four four two, So if you dial that
- 32:39Speaker 1: in the phone booth, there's a little extra something.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:46Speaker 4: And also when you're in that area, make sure that
- 32:49Speaker 4: with the night bus you go around to the back
- 32:52Speaker 4: because you can.
- 32:53Speaker 3: There's like a little platform you can step up.
- 32:55Speaker 4: You can't go on like fully into the night bus,
- 32:58Speaker 4: but you can step up and you can see into it.
- 33:00Speaker 4: It's a really good photo op spot. I know a
- 33:02Speaker 4: lot of people don't know about that. You just have
- 33:04Speaker 4: to kind of walk around the back.
- 33:06Speaker 5: Mm hmm. Yeah.
- 33:09Speaker 2: I love these little tip that's they're They're so good
- 33:11Speaker 2: and so much detail has been put like they put
- 33:14Speaker 2: Easter eggs all around the Park. So we're going to
- 33:16Speaker 2: be discussing this a lot more in detail. But I
- 33:18Speaker 2: just love these little bits.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Oh. I get so sad when I see people. Sorry,
- 33:23Speaker 3: I was just thinking. I get so sad when I
- 33:24Speaker 3: see people like walking around and not.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Appreciating all the little details, like just walking past these
- 33:29Speaker 4: things because I'm such I mean, I have spent like
- 33:31Speaker 4: full days, especially in diagonality, just.
- 33:33Speaker 3: Like looking in all the windows and looking at everything.
- 33:36Speaker 4: And this might just be as a super fan and
- 33:38Speaker 4: a fan of graphic design and stuff, but yeah, I
- 33:42Speaker 4: get just get really sad when I see people walking
- 33:43Speaker 4: by and I'm like, but you're missing all.
- 33:45Speaker 3: The stuff that you could see hard work.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Yeah, the amount of people that I've like stopped while
- 33:51Speaker 1: they're taking photos of that phone booth, I'm like just say,
- 33:54Speaker 1: you know, you should die all this.
- 33:58Speaker 5: Because like I can't imagine Amy peak and being like hey.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Because I found that, because like you know, if you're
- 34:05Speaker 1: like a Harry Potter nerd and you stand in the
- 34:07Speaker 1: phone booth, probably you're gonna try it and punch in
- 34:10Speaker 1: the numbers. Right, That's what I did, not knowing that
- 34:13Speaker 1: there was an actual recording, and then I had that
- 34:15Speaker 1: little moment of oh my gosh, there's a recording like
- 34:17Speaker 1: they thought of people like me who are gonna say
- 34:19Speaker 1: you're punching the number.
- 34:26Speaker 2: So you'll also catch side of grim Old Place aka
- 34:30Speaker 2: the had Quarters for the Order of the Phoenix, and
- 34:33Speaker 2: you should keep an eye up for a creature peeking
- 34:35Speaker 2: through the curtains. He appears pretty often. And then straight
- 34:39Speaker 2: ahead you'll walk into a seemingly ordinary brick wall tuck
- 34:42Speaker 2: behind Lester Square Station, which gives way to reveal Diagon Alley,
- 34:48Speaker 2: which is a full on magical metropolis literally, and you'll
- 34:54Speaker 2: find everything from Weasley's Wizard, wheezes, olive anders, Florian orsk
- 35:00Speaker 2: use ice cream parlor, and even a fire breathing dragon
- 35:03Speaker 2: perach to a top of Green God's Bank that breathes
- 35:06Speaker 2: actual fire and it is hot.
- 35:09Speaker 1: If you're standing right under it. The dragon goes off
- 35:15Speaker 1: about every ten to fifteen minutes, weather permitting, so you
- 35:20Speaker 1: can usually tell what it's going to go off because
- 35:23Speaker 1: it does like some rumbling stuff, but it also does
- 35:26Speaker 1: some fake outs.
- 35:27Speaker 4: So yeah, it's so funny to just see everybody like
- 35:31Speaker 4: standing in that pathway a diagon Alley leading up to it,
- 35:35Speaker 4: just for ages with their phones just off, like waiting
- 35:39Speaker 4: for it to go off, and I just chuckle because
- 35:42Speaker 4: like obviously, like you said, Amy, like it gives you
- 35:44Speaker 4: a hint when it's about to go off, it starts
- 35:46Speaker 4: to kind of grumble a little bit.
- 35:48Speaker 3: But if it's your first time there and you don't
- 35:50Speaker 3: really know that, I.
- 35:51Speaker 4: Just like wonder how long some of these people have
- 35:53Speaker 4: just been standing there waiting for it to go off,
- 35:55Speaker 4: And I just want to be like, you'll know when
- 35:57Speaker 4: it's about to go off, but insider chuckle, But it
- 36:02Speaker 4: is super cool.
- 36:08Speaker 1: I just I have to know because I love Florians
- 36:13Speaker 1: and I love getting ice cream at Florian's. Do you
- 36:16Speaker 1: guys have favorite ice cream flavors from there?
- 36:19Speaker 3: Yes?
- 36:22Speaker 4: Well, initially my favorite was the Earl Gray, which is
- 36:28Speaker 4: still actually my favorite. I just wish it came in
- 36:30Speaker 4: saucer instead of like the hard pack ice cream. And
- 36:35Speaker 4: then from like a saucert of perspective, it's definitely the
- 36:39Speaker 4: Butterbeer ice cream. But I really I haven't had that
- 36:44Speaker 4: Earl Gray one in a while, so that one might
- 36:46Speaker 4: have to happen soon.
- 36:48Speaker 1: That one is good.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, me too. I'm gonna go with butter Beer two.
- 36:53Speaker 2: It was pretty good, like the.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Perfect combination of like flavors.
- 36:58Speaker 4: And I tried the hard pack one that you can
- 37:01Speaker 4: get at the stands and it's not as good as
- 37:03Speaker 4: the saw serve.
- 37:05Speaker 3: It just works so well as a soft serve.
- 37:08Speaker 1: What about you, Amy, I love the strawberry peanut butter.
- 37:13Speaker 1: That's my favorite. It's like a peep and J and
- 37:16Speaker 1: ice cream. It's so good.
- 37:20Speaker 3: Not for me, it's also really peanuts, so for me,
- 37:24Speaker 3: that's a no go.
- 37:26Speaker 2: But it's also a pretty really nice shop. It's I
- 37:30Speaker 2: love how it's like decorated and everything, and it's it's
- 37:34Speaker 2: really cool because you read that. You read that Harry
- 37:36Speaker 2: in Prisoner of Azkaban goes to that ice cream parlor
- 37:39Speaker 2: shop pretty often, so it's like it's those little bits
- 37:42Speaker 2: that you see, like, oh you can see Harry there,
- 37:45Speaker 2: and it's really nice.
- 37:47Speaker 5: I love it.
- 37:48Speaker 3: I also love the exterior of it. Yeah, ice cream
- 37:51Speaker 3: cone that's.
- 37:52Speaker 4: There, And like also diagonally is just gorgeous at night too,
- 37:55Speaker 4: because of like all the lights and again it's just
- 37:59Speaker 4: those things of people just walk by it and everything
- 38:01Speaker 4: and I just want to be like just look up,
- 38:03Speaker 4: look up a little bit, and it's you.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Know, experience the details anything.
- 38:07Speaker 4: I know we talked about this, you know in a
- 38:11Speaker 4: past episode, I think when we were talking about just
- 38:13Speaker 4: Epic Universe in terms of like the way the.
- 38:15Speaker 3: Worlds were going to be so immersive.
- 38:16Speaker 4: But you know, diagon Allly is so different to hogs
- 38:21Speaker 4: Meat in a lot of ways because of that immersion
- 38:23Speaker 4: factor and the fact that you can't you have no
- 38:25Speaker 4: outside site to any other areas of the park, and
- 38:29Speaker 4: so it's such a park to kind of slow down
- 38:33Speaker 4: and appreciate those details and like really feel like you're
- 38:35Speaker 4: there that you can't always experience. It hogs me, especially
- 38:39Speaker 4: now with ve los of coaster there and it really
- 38:41Speaker 4: kind of ruins the sideline a little bit of hot words,
- 38:44Speaker 4: especially when you're in that three broomsticks back patio that
- 38:46Speaker 4: I used to love. So yeah, next time you're there,
- 38:51Speaker 4: just slow down and if you've never done that before,
- 38:54Speaker 4: and just kind of like really taken all the different
- 38:57Speaker 4: the different things that are there.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Get an ice cream I'm at Florian's, and then.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Sit on those stairs.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Yeah, sit on the stairs right by greenots and then
- 39:04Speaker 1: you can just like lick down. I got all.
- 39:08Speaker 3: That's our favorite spot.
- 39:09Speaker 4: Every time our group goes we sit up there one
- 39:12Speaker 4: of the higher steps.
- 39:13Speaker 3: That way, people aren't really bothering.
- 39:15Speaker 4: You too much, and you just get our ice from
- 39:17Speaker 4: there as you're looking out at It's so great.
- 39:19Speaker 3: It's so great.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I could spend an entire day just by myself.
- 39:22Speaker 2: I imagine the park all empty and just me myself
- 39:25Speaker 2: just looking at every single thing, just you know, not
- 39:28Speaker 2: even the rides, just going you know and pee, peeking
- 39:31Speaker 2: into the windows and seeing every single detail. Like everything
- 39:34Speaker 2: has been so well thought and a lot of work
- 39:37Speaker 2: has been put onto every single display. There's no way
- 39:41Speaker 2: you could look anywhere and be like, oh that's you know,
- 39:44Speaker 2: you can see some behind the scenes stuff there alone.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Like everything is super immersive. So I just love it.
- 39:49Speaker 2: But I get a little desperate and I get a
- 39:51Speaker 2: little anxious because I'm like, oh, I want to see this,
- 39:53Speaker 2: but I want to see this, and we need to
- 39:55Speaker 2: see this, and I need to go back to Hogwarts
- 39:57Speaker 2: because I have to ride the Forbidden Journey again. So
- 40:00Speaker 2: it's a little like nerve wrecking.
- 40:02Speaker 1: But my last time, actually the past two times that
- 40:05Speaker 1: I've been around Christmas, I've planned it so that my
- 40:10Speaker 1: first day there, I get there before everybody else. That
- 40:12Speaker 1: I'm there by myself, and I just do that, like,
- 40:15Speaker 1: I just walk around. I look at all the decorations,
- 40:19Speaker 1: and I just like I think last time, the only
- 40:22Speaker 1: ride I did that one day was Forbidden and the
- 40:27Speaker 1: whole rest of the day just by myself. I just
- 40:29Speaker 1: walked around and just took in the sites.
- 40:32Speaker 3: That was me when I went in April.
- 40:35Speaker 4: I was there by myself that day, and I went
- 40:38Speaker 4: the day before I flew home, so I didn't have
- 40:40Speaker 4: like a ton a ton of time.
- 40:42Speaker 3: And the only ride I rode was Escape from Gringos.
- 40:44Speaker 4: I actually rode it back to back because I went
- 40:47Speaker 4: through the single rider line and I basically came off
- 40:49Speaker 4: the ride and just went right back on it.
- 40:51Speaker 3: I didn't ride Forbidden Journey because.
- 40:53Speaker 4: I'm a little nervous that I'm at the point where
- 40:56Speaker 4: it's going to make me sick. I used to be
- 40:58Speaker 4: able to ride no problem, but the a couple of
- 41:00Speaker 4: times I've written it, I've gotten.
- 41:01Speaker 3: A little like, ooh, I don't know if I feel great.
- 41:04Speaker 4: So I just decided to skip it. I sat and
- 41:07Speaker 4: watched the shows. I kind of just walked around because
- 41:09Speaker 4: I had been a little bit since I had been there,
- 41:13Speaker 4: you know, I.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Ate breakfast at Three Broomsticks.
- 41:15Speaker 4: I had lunch at Leaky Cauldron, and it was so great.
- 41:18Speaker 4: And you do get to you know, especially if you're
- 41:23Speaker 4: with other people that like kind of just want to go,
- 41:25Speaker 4: go go, it can be really nice to spend some
- 41:28Speaker 4: time like by yourself to kind of you know, explore
- 41:31Speaker 4: those things or find someone who wants to go with
- 41:34Speaker 4: you that also like you know, it's like Amy and
- 41:36Speaker 4: I were very slow to kind of just you know,
- 41:38Speaker 4: go with the.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Prom just like walk.
- 41:42Speaker 4: Yeah, like the group I usually go with, we're just
- 41:45Speaker 4: so we just work so well together going on these trips.
- 41:48Speaker 4: But like, yeah, if you've never kind of taken that time,
- 41:51Speaker 4: I definitely recommend it, especially as a super fan. You know,
- 41:55Speaker 4: you just get that immersive experience. And I love just
- 41:59Speaker 4: like the ambiance, like just being in there with the ambiance,
- 42:01Speaker 4: the music, the sounds. Yeah, yeah, especially diagon Alley. There's
- 42:08Speaker 4: something really special about diagon Alley and I love going
- 42:11Speaker 4: over probably getting ahead, we're gonna talk about it here, but.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Like we're speaking of sounds. Turning the corner.
- 42:18Speaker 4: So when you have Florian's on the count the corner
- 42:20Speaker 4: there and you make a little lapped and you're over
- 42:22Speaker 4: by like the where the like Menagerie is, and you've
- 42:27Speaker 4: just got like just all the sounds there of like
- 42:32Speaker 4: you've got the dragon, you've got.
- 42:34Speaker 7: Like the wireless Yeah, going the radio and I think
- 42:39Speaker 7: a lot of people don't notice that and hear that
- 42:41Speaker 7: that if you sit and listen, like you're literally hearing
- 42:44Speaker 7: the Wizarding Wireless Network.
- 42:47Speaker 3: It's just very Yeah, it's very special.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like when you go to the restroom and
- 42:53Speaker 2: you get moaning murder.
- 42:56Speaker 4: Yeah, speaking of restrooms, the the restroom in Diagon Alley
- 43:04Speaker 4: is one of my favorite theme park bathrooms anywhere. Yeah,
- 43:09Speaker 4: It's just always so clean, and it's just like, I
- 43:13Speaker 4: don't know, it's just you learn to like really appreciate
- 43:17Speaker 4: the park bathrooms.
- 43:18Speaker 3: Like you know, when you go to theme park and
- 43:20Speaker 3: you have to go to a bathroom.
- 43:21Speaker 1: And there's something out a line.
- 43:23Speaker 3: There's never a line.
- 43:24Speaker 4: I feel like the one in Hogsmeat gets a little
- 43:27Speaker 4: chaotic sometimes sometimes it also just has that bathroom smell,
- 43:31Speaker 4: but the one in Diagon Alley just never does.
- 43:34Speaker 3: It's got this nice black and white flooring. Even like
- 43:38Speaker 3: I never.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Thought knobs on the door.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Yes, I was just gonna say that they're like green apples,
- 43:43Speaker 3: and I was like.
- 43:44Speaker 2: I need to google this because I don't remember.
- 43:46Speaker 4: Like, I mean, maybe they're not like that. I don't know,
- 43:48Speaker 4: but like, this is really bad.
- 43:50Speaker 1: I feel like this is really showing our age right
- 43:52Speaker 1: now that we're like the bathroom. Man, you've got to
- 43:54Speaker 1: see that doorknobs.
- 43:56Speaker 4: But lock wasn't the last time you and I went
- 44:00Speaker 4: to pot didn't we make a joke about doing like
- 44:03Speaker 4: rating the bathrooms at Disney.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Oh my god, we're getting.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Old because instead of drinking around the world, it's peeking
- 44:10Speaker 1: around the world, around the world. We've seen every bathroom
- 44:15Speaker 1: in Epcot t m I.
- 44:17Speaker 4: But you know, yeah, I also have a favorite bathroom,
- 44:21Speaker 4: but we're not going to get into that. But but yeah,
- 44:24Speaker 4: that bathroom. If you are in that area and you're like, man,
- 44:27Speaker 4: I'm looking for a clean, nice bathroom that want a
- 44:29Speaker 4: diagon alley, it has you.
- 44:31Speaker 3: I mean literally the fact that there's the speaking I
- 44:33Speaker 3: mean tying this.
- 44:34Speaker 4: Back to just the detail that we're talking about, right
- 44:37Speaker 4: those door knobs looking like bolts, like you're in there
- 44:39Speaker 4: just to you know, do our human business, and there's
- 44:43Speaker 4: still detail.
- 44:44Speaker 3: It's so I don't know, and The thing is all
- 44:47Speaker 3: of you listening to this. You know, next time you're
- 44:50Speaker 3: a diagon Alley, you're gonna go in the bathroom and you're.
- 44:52Speaker 4: Gonna be like, wow, they were right, You're gonna you're
- 44:56Speaker 4: going to be like whoa.
- 45:00Speaker 1: They spent ten minutes talking about this.
- 45:02Speaker 5: They're really old.
- 45:04Speaker 1: How millennial of them?
- 45:06Speaker 3: Oh yeah, sorry, guys, I've been approaching my.
- 45:09Speaker 4: Mid thirtiesier, so like I have to go to the bathroom, okay,
- 45:12Speaker 4: but it is a really nice I can appreciate it.
- 45:16Speaker 3: It's just a nice bathroom to go and it's cool
- 45:19Speaker 3: in there. It's a nice break from the heat. But yeah,
- 45:22Speaker 3: we'll move on from the bathroom talk.
- 45:26Speaker 5: That's a nice that's a good tip. Actually.
- 45:31Speaker 2: So speaking of all these different attractions and shops, we
- 45:34Speaker 2: have Olivanders, where again you can even take part in
- 45:38Speaker 2: a life want choosing ceremony, just as in hogs Meat,
- 45:42Speaker 2: which I remember back in the day people were saying,
- 45:45Speaker 2: but there's going to be an Olivanders and hogs meat.
- 45:47Speaker 2: It was like, what how is this going to work?
- 45:49Speaker 2: And then when we had diagon Alley, they were like,
- 45:51Speaker 2: what are they going to be to Olivanders? I remember
- 45:53Speaker 2: it kind of like it was also kind of like
- 45:55Speaker 2: not controversial, but it definitely you know, kind of like
- 45:57Speaker 2: raised a few questions.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Kind of weird.
- 46:00Speaker 4: I think that, like I can imagine like if you're
- 46:03Speaker 4: if your only park is Hogsmead, right, you want to
- 46:06Speaker 4: have the Olivander experience there. So I think about Universal
- 46:09Speaker 4: Studios Hollywood now, right, that only has Hogsmeade, So you're
- 46:14Speaker 4: gonna want to have Olivanders there. And of course they
- 46:17Speaker 4: built Hogsmeade right, not knowing that eventually diagon Alley was
- 46:21Speaker 4: going to come. But I think now that we have
- 46:24Speaker 4: diagon Alley, I feel like we should maybe rebrand the
- 46:29Speaker 4: wand Shop in Hogsmead with like a unique thing to
- 46:37Speaker 4: we're and this is the thing is, you know, when
- 46:38Speaker 4: when Universal hears this and this happens in a couple
- 46:41Speaker 4: of years, we're gonna we're gonna be like, so we
- 46:43Speaker 4: suggested this, so you know. But yeah, I mean they
- 46:48Speaker 4: could still I do think it needs to be maybe
- 46:50Speaker 4: a wand shop because without it there's only that one
- 46:53Speaker 4: little like wand stand that's tucked away in the corner.
- 47:00Speaker 4: But yeah, I don't think we need to Olivanders now
- 47:04Speaker 4: because it does kind of take.
- 47:05Speaker 3: Away from the immersions a little bit.
- 47:08Speaker 4: And for me, like if I'm going to Alivanders or
- 47:12Speaker 4: if I want to do the Olivanders experience, I always
- 47:15Speaker 4: do it in Diagon Alley because I'm you know, it's
- 47:18Speaker 4: got to be right and that's where Alvanders really is.
- 47:22Speaker 4: And if I take new people to Universal, I'm taking
- 47:25Speaker 4: them to the Olivanders and Diagon Alley because that's the
- 47:28Speaker 4: real Olivanders.
- 47:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 47:30Speaker 1: I remember my first time at the parks. My mom
- 47:33Speaker 1: took me as a gift and she had read on
- 47:37Speaker 1: all these like travel blogs that the line was shorter
- 47:41Speaker 1: at the Alvanders and hogs Meat. So she was like
- 47:44Speaker 1: all about that. She's like, you know what, I got
- 47:45Speaker 1: all these tips, We're going to go to the one
- 47:47Speaker 1: and hogs me And I was like, no, it's like, Mom,
- 47:50Speaker 1: absolutely enough to go to Olivanders and Diagon Alley. I
- 47:54Speaker 1: will not be caught dead in the line of Olivanders
- 47:56Speaker 1: and the Hogsbad.
- 47:59Speaker 2: That was so sweet as.
- 48:02Speaker 1: She was like, Okay, I guess we're gonna stand in
- 48:04Speaker 1: a longer line.
- 48:05Speaker 5: She actually took the time to see which was the best.
- 48:08Speaker 4: You know, yeah, well, and I think, like you do
- 48:13Speaker 4: have those people too that like actually will start in
- 48:15Speaker 4: Diagon Alley and then they'll go to Hogsmead.
- 48:17Speaker 3: So the thing that true experience.
- 48:21Speaker 4: But yeah, you have to go if it's your first
- 48:24Speaker 4: time going to these parworks, Like I feel like you
- 48:27Speaker 4: have to go to.
- 48:27Speaker 3: Alvanders and Diagon Alley. Yea.
- 48:29Speaker 4: Now it will be crazier, it will be busier than
- 48:32Speaker 4: the one in Hogsmead. But I think if you want
- 48:34Speaker 4: that true experience, like and we're not saying don't go
- 48:37Speaker 4: to the one in Hogsmeade. I've been in that one too.
- 48:39Speaker 4: I've also done the one experience there, but I made
- 48:43Speaker 4: sure that wasn't my first experience.
- 48:46Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure the.
- 48:47Speaker 4: Time when I got chosen the Alemander Wan thing, I'm
- 48:50Speaker 4: pretty I hope.
- 48:51Speaker 3: That we were in the one and Diagon Alley.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Gosh, I don't wear Okay, Yeah, we definitely were.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean and like you guys said, like, I
- 49:02Speaker 2: think it also takes a little bit of the magic
- 49:04Speaker 2: away from the Dagon Alley one, just because you know,
- 49:06Speaker 2: you have a backup one. So if it if it
- 49:09Speaker 2: was like exclusive to Diagon Alley, then it would make
- 49:12Speaker 2: it even more special. It's like, you know, at the
- 49:14Speaker 2: end of the day, it's like for any part go
- 49:15Speaker 2: or any it's like, oh, another Olivander's Like I've seen
- 49:18Speaker 2: this before in Hogsmeat.
- 49:20Speaker 5: So yeah.
- 49:21Speaker 2: And also I was thinking Howard's legacy followed universal steps
- 49:25Speaker 2: because they also have an Olivanders in the game.
- 49:28Speaker 3: So I mean all they have to do really is
- 49:32Speaker 3: change the sign.
- 49:34Speaker 4: Yeah, like you can leave the interior all the same
- 49:37Speaker 4: because they look because they look different time for the
- 49:40Speaker 4: most part, you know, and so like we just just
- 49:42Speaker 4: put a different sign, like it's make I guess they could.
- 49:47Speaker 4: I guess the problem is is that, well, right, they've
- 49:53Speaker 4: already made it up because there's not an Alexander in Hogsmead,
- 49:56Speaker 4: So what does it matter if we make up a
- 49:58Speaker 4: new land shot, right, because there's already not an olive
- 50:01Speaker 4: Anders there.
- 50:02Speaker 1: I almost would rather they just replace it with something
- 50:05Speaker 1: else entirely. Just have the wand cart because like you
- 50:11Speaker 1: can still buy wands, and then it makes the one
- 50:14Speaker 1: and Diagon Alley more special. People are going to go
- 50:17Speaker 1: to Diagon Alley for that experience. Anyway. It's not like
- 50:20Speaker 1: people are going to like skip.
- 50:21Speaker 2: But they're gonna feel like they just want to, you know,
- 50:23Speaker 2: rip them off because they want to you know, they
- 50:26Speaker 2: they want us to buy two part tickets just to
- 50:29Speaker 2: get the wand and then come back, So it might
- 50:32Speaker 2: be taking the wrong way.
- 50:32Speaker 5: I do agree that. Yeah.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Well, and the thing is too you can buy wands
- 50:37Speaker 3: in so many parts of the park, Like all of
- 50:39Speaker 3: the stores in City Walk all have the wands too.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Yeah, they all have.
- 50:44Speaker 5: That makes sense, So it's like, do.
- 50:46Speaker 3: We really need to have it there?
- 50:50Speaker 2: Also, they have those carts outside with the wands when
- 50:53Speaker 2: you go out of Forbidden Journey of the castle. At
- 50:56Speaker 2: least they used to have like this this you know
- 50:59Speaker 2: display with wants, but I think you could also purchase
- 51:02Speaker 2: once from there.
- 51:03Speaker 3: Yeah it's over.
- 51:04Speaker 4: I don't know if they still have that one, but
- 51:06Speaker 4: they do have a cart that's there's the one the stage, Yeah,
- 51:10Speaker 4: like right outside of Dervish. It's like they put it
- 51:13Speaker 4: along that like wall back there. That one is still.
- 51:19Speaker 3: But the thing is they still more than wants there.
- 51:21Speaker 4: I think one side is wance and then the other
- 51:23Speaker 4: side is like key chains and stuff like that.
- 51:26Speaker 3: But yeah, I would I would say, like I hope.
- 51:29Speaker 4: That maybe eventually like universal does you know, speaking of
- 51:33Speaker 4: changes in theme parks, that's.
- 51:34Speaker 3: Actually a change I would really welcome.
- 51:35Speaker 4: It's for them to be like, maybe we should do
- 51:37Speaker 4: something else with this space, especially now, like seeing the
- 51:43Speaker 4: popularity of like I maybe maybe with Epic now being
- 51:48Speaker 4: open and having a brand new WAWND shop there that's
- 51:51Speaker 4: not necessarily like an in universe thing that we're all
- 51:54Speaker 4: like used to and seeing the success of it, maybe
- 51:58Speaker 4: that will be enough for them to you know what,
- 52:00Speaker 4: we don't have to have Oliveanders attached to this. These
- 52:04Speaker 4: people are still going to buy this even if it's
- 52:07Speaker 4: not Olivanders. Yeah, and maybe that'll be enough push to
- 52:10Speaker 4: be like, maybe we could make this something else.
- 52:13Speaker 1: Well, look at how they've got honey Dukes and hogs made.
- 52:17Speaker 1: They still have a sweet shop and Diegon Alley, but
- 52:20Speaker 1: they changed the name.
- 52:22Speaker 3: And there's still tons of people in there all the time.
- 52:24Speaker 3: I've bought still that both.
- 52:25Speaker 1: They can do it. They just haven't for some reason.
- 52:31Speaker 3: Mm hmm. We got connections, what's suggested? Amy? All right?
- 52:35Speaker 1: You know that's just well some people up have you
- 52:40Speaker 1: thought of this yet?
- 52:42Speaker 4: Tunny though, if it happened, so I get better get
- 52:45Speaker 4: a little cut of that paycheck. I'm sure we're not
- 52:49Speaker 4: the first people that have come up with the idea
- 52:50Speaker 4: to change it, but I really think they could and
- 52:54Speaker 4: it would be just fine if they changed it.
- 52:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:00Speaker 4: But speaking of the wand choosing ceremony, we didn't really
- 53:03Speaker 4: talk to talk too much about that.
- 53:07Speaker 3: I don't know really what to say about it except
- 53:09Speaker 3: that it's really cool.
- 53:10Speaker 1: It's very cool.
- 53:12Speaker 4: You know, there's no pressure to buy the wand that
- 53:14Speaker 4: picks you. I did not pick. I did not buy
- 53:17Speaker 4: the wand that chose me. But yeah, especially when the
- 53:21Speaker 4: little kids get chosen, and it's very Yeah, like you said, Amy,
- 53:24Speaker 4: the effects that they do. The actors who play Olivander
- 53:29Speaker 4: do a really great job. Yeah, As someone who's been chosen,
- 53:35Speaker 4: it's very special. And you do feel like when you're
- 53:38Speaker 4: standing there and the music comes on and the light
- 53:40Speaker 4: shines on you, and you really are like, oh, this
- 53:43Speaker 4: wand chose me, even though.
- 53:44Speaker 3: I don't the wind.
- 53:47Speaker 1: It's very cool.
- 53:52Speaker 3: That's all I really had to say about it.
- 53:53Speaker 4: It's a really cool experience, very interactive experience.
- 53:57Speaker 2: I haven't been to that one though. I haven't been
- 53:59Speaker 2: to that show. I did the Hawks Meat one, but
- 54:01Speaker 2: I didn't do the one Diagon Alley.
- 54:05Speaker 3: Yeah, it's only added to your your next trip that
- 54:08Speaker 3: you go.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that in the restrooms.
- 54:16Speaker 4: I mean, I'm surprised that you haven't bet in the
- 54:18Speaker 4: restroom in there.
- 54:20Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 54:21Speaker 2: I'm older now, so I guess I'm going to be
- 54:23Speaker 2: more appreciative of those details.
- 54:24Speaker 3: Now.
- 54:25Speaker 1: It didn't leave as much of an impression on Tom.
- 54:31Speaker 3: But I got you anything. The next time Tom is there,
- 54:34Speaker 3: we're going to hear about the rest room.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you mean you don't normally stop to admire the
- 54:39Speaker 1: bathroom floor tiles in the part bathroom.
- 54:44Speaker 3: I'm sorry that bathroom.
- 54:48Speaker 4: Every time I walk in there, I'm like, can I
- 54:50Speaker 4: get these tiles in like my future home?
- 54:58Speaker 2: So another one that we have. Another shop that we
- 55:02Speaker 2: have which is iconic as well, is Weasley's Wizard Wheezes,
- 55:06Speaker 2: the joke shop founded by Fred and George Weasley, and
- 55:09Speaker 2: it's obviously packed with a lot of things like extendable ears,
- 55:12Speaker 2: love potions, and Pigmy puffs and something. A fun fact
- 55:16Speaker 2: about this is that the shopkeepers perform an adoption ceremony
- 55:20Speaker 2: when you adopt one, and I think it's really cute
- 55:22Speaker 2: and it makes you want to buy one. These guys
- 55:25Speaker 2: are so good at their craft they could be selling
- 55:27Speaker 2: me like earwax, and I'd be totally sold. It's so
- 55:31Speaker 2: like it even made me want to buy one, even
- 55:33Speaker 2: you know, I don't I don't collect plushies or you know,
- 55:36Speaker 2: but I saw this song like I want one and
- 55:38Speaker 2: I want my own, like you know, like little celebration.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Oh, I had no idea that this was a thing.
- 55:46Speaker 1: When I sell, you know, obliviously went off to buy
- 55:52Speaker 1: my pigmy puff and then suddenly they're hitting this big
- 55:56Speaker 1: gong bell thing yelling at everyone in the shop and
- 55:59Speaker 1: I'm looking at you just like.
- 56:01Speaker 5: The sounds and everything.
- 56:03Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like an introverts nightmare.
- 56:06Speaker 2: Though, But and it happens every like, at least when
- 56:09Speaker 2: I was there, it happened like every five minutes or less.
- 56:12Speaker 5: Like it was like every.
- 56:13Speaker 3: You knows are so cute and they are.
- 56:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that's another thing I might add.
- 56:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I will say, like earlier when I talked about
- 56:24Speaker 4: like people just need to stop and like look up,
- 56:26Speaker 4: this is a place where you really need to stop
- 56:28Speaker 4: and look up.
- 56:29Speaker 3: Yes, because you'll see lots of cool things up there.
- 56:34Speaker 4: You'll see the little umbrage like on the like tight rope,
- 56:37Speaker 4: there's the fireworks up on the ceiling. There's just so
- 56:40Speaker 4: much like magical things happening in that shop. But if
- 56:44Speaker 4: you just walk in and you don't look up, you
- 56:46Speaker 4: are gonna miss all of it.
- 56:48Speaker 5: Mm hmm.
- 56:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:51Speaker 2: Probably many people don't look up, unfortunately, because they're so
- 56:53Speaker 2: like caught up on you know, like buying things or
- 56:56Speaker 2: just having to move on to the next thing, that
- 56:57Speaker 2: they don't appreciate every thing, all the detail.
- 57:01Speaker 5: But oh it's so good.
- 57:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:06Speaker 4: I think it's hard because it can get hectic, right,
- 57:08Speaker 4: because it's like all these shops are small, right, because
- 57:12Speaker 4: it's in a small space, and then when the park
- 57:14Speaker 4: is busy, like and it's hot oo, it can seem
- 57:16Speaker 4: very like, oh my god, this is like too much.
- 57:20Speaker 4: But I think timing to go into the shops, like
- 57:23Speaker 4: if you can go in when they don't look as busy,
- 57:26Speaker 4: or in early in the morning or later at night
- 57:28Speaker 4: or something like that, I definitely recommend it because it's
- 57:32Speaker 4: you know, even though I go in and I don't
- 57:34Speaker 4: ever really maybe even intend to buy anything, and I've
- 57:36Speaker 4: seen it a million times, like, I still go in
- 57:38Speaker 4: and look and appreciate everything because I feel like every
- 57:40Speaker 4: time I go I spot something that I didn't see
- 57:42Speaker 4: like the last time I was there.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Well, and like every shop really has stuff up around
- 57:50Speaker 1: the ceiling area. There's always like kind of a second level,
- 57:53Speaker 1: which some of them were going to talk about in
- 57:55Speaker 1: a bit too, because there's some like really good finds
- 57:58Speaker 1: up there. Yeah, but definitely, like any shop you go in,
- 58:02Speaker 1: make sure you look up because there's usually a second
- 58:05Speaker 1: level with like a rail around it and there's like
- 58:07Speaker 1: all sorts of decorations up there and little easter eggs
- 58:10Speaker 1: and things to find.
- 58:12Speaker 2: Yeah, Like people could say, oh, I've been to the
- 58:14Speaker 2: studio tour and you know it's the actual place where
- 58:17Speaker 2: the films were made, but it doesn't feel magical as
- 58:20Speaker 2: this does, because you get to literally step into the
- 58:23Speaker 2: world and see all this for yourself. So it feels
- 58:26Speaker 2: I feel more like I'm in the films when I'm
- 58:29Speaker 2: in the Wizarding World that when I go to the
- 58:30Speaker 2: actual studio tour.
- 58:32Speaker 3: Yeah, the studio tour feels like a studio tour.
- 58:34Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly. Yeah, there's no.
- 58:37Speaker 4: Matter if you don't get to walk into the right
- 58:39Speaker 4: your rail, you're looking at the potion's classroom, you're looking
- 58:43Speaker 4: at that griffin or a coming Yeah. But like in
- 58:44Speaker 4: the Wizarding World. You have the opportunity to actually like
- 58:48Speaker 4: step in it.
- 58:49Speaker 2: Mm hmmmm, yeah, that's what I love about it. So
- 58:55Speaker 2: up next we also have Scribulous where you can pick
- 58:58Speaker 2: up wizarding quills, no books, and ink pots.
- 59:03Speaker 5: It's a cute little shop. I don't have much to say.
- 59:07Speaker 4: Yeah, this is another one too where I just recently
- 59:11Speaker 4: kind of took my time a little.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Bit in there and like looked around a little bit more.
- 59:15Speaker 4: Because I think that's one that can get kind of
- 59:19Speaker 4: hectic too because of the way escape for Escape from
- 59:23Speaker 4: Green God's Ride Q kind of like is right next
- 59:27Speaker 4: to it, and some people cut through it, and it
- 59:28Speaker 4: can get kind of hectic in there. But that's also
- 59:31Speaker 4: really like detailed, and the glass cases and the things
- 59:33Speaker 4: in the glass cases are nice. And this is also
- 59:38Speaker 4: a good shop to pick up like ornaments too. They
- 59:40Speaker 4: always have a lot of the ornaments there, and they
- 59:43Speaker 4: do have a lot of clothing items too in the
- 59:47Speaker 4: front part of the store, and they also have where
- 59:49Speaker 4: you can get like the personalized the backpacks and stuff
- 59:52Speaker 4: they sell.
- 59:53Speaker 3: You can get them like.
- 59:53Speaker 4: Embroidered, and they've got a little thing in the back
- 59:57Speaker 4: where you can like.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: I guess sign up to have that gun. So it
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: is a cute little shop.
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: M hm mm hmm.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: So next we have Madam Malkin's Ropes for All Occasions,
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: where you can try on your Howkwards House ropes and
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: pose in front of a magical mirror that talks back
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: and gives you nice compliments as well. And it's a
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: it's a really fun experience too.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a fun shop.
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: Also, I confuse my shops ignore everything I just said.
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: That's acres not scribulous.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Cribulous is like attached.
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: To oh yeah they are, Oh yeah, Becauscribulous is like
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: the back part where all of the the things I
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: was talking about is with Acres.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I think it happens with one of the shops.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: And hogs met too. I think it happens with the
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: owl post maybe and either banks. Yeah yeah, m hmmm hmm.
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: I will say that's the one thing too though that
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: isn't like I don't fully love I get why they
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: do that, but I don't fully love that design, especially
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: in diagonal, because I feel like, you know, if you
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: enter in.
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: Like you know, the.
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: Quidditch supply store, right, you're then like could potentially just
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: walk through and then now you're in you know.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the Supplys and Sugar Shop are like yeah,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: where I feel like I would love to.
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: Like walk back out and go through the front door
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: and like have that whole experience versus like just cutting
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: through them. You don't get that same I feel like
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: immersive experience of like going through each each shop door.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: I also wonder if it's to avoid having like massive
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: cues outside of the shops and like you keep everything
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: contained inside, so masses of people moving within shops on
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: the inside instead of But it could be that, but
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: I do agree with that. I think each shop should
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: have its own entrance, and you know, it's the only
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: way in, it's the only way out. But yeah, maybe
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: for a theme park it makes more sense to kind
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: of give it more of a you know, you can
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: exit one shop, and you can you know, you can
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: enter one shop and you can exit from another shop,
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: which again, yeah, takes a little bit away that magic
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: and immersiveness.
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: But you could still go out and do that, Like
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: you could easily walk out of the store and do
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: that yourself.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: So another shop that we can find is why it
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: occurs wizarding equipment where you can grab everything from hairerglasses
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: to compasses, to celestial models, and I love this shop
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: as well, Like it's super cool. And again, when you
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: look up, you see all of these different instruments, and
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: you know, there's like this giant I don't know if
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: it's a it seems like a time turner. I'm not
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: sure it's a time turner. But it's like this kind
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: of like the circle thing.
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's real instrument of what it is.
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: And again, this is the shop I was referring to
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: before that has like you know, the glass cases and
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: the ornaments and stuff like.
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: That that's attached to scribulus.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: But yeah, it's cool because it's got like the real
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: celestial equipment in there.
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: But it just looks magical. Andrea like that's very cool.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: So we've been talking about looking up. This is one
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: you definitely want to look up in because there is
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: a huge gold instrument up in the top level of
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: this shop, and it's the barometer that was actually used
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: in several scenes in the films, so it is a
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: screen used prop. In the Half Flood Prince, this big
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: barometer thingy was seen in Dumbledore's office and in Deathly
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: Hello's Part two it's in the Room of Requirement, so
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: it makes a few appearances, so pretty cool. Definitely look up.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: You can't miss it. It's huge.
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: Is that what you were referring to, Tom, Do you
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: think I.
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: Think it was? Yes, I think that was what I
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: was talking about.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: So another shop that we have is the Magical Menagerie,
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: So it's a home to all sorts of plush magical creatures.
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: So if you just want to have an adopted animal,
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: you can go there and get your own plushy version
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: of whatever creature you like.
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: This shop feet from there. Yeah, and this is one
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: I was thinking earlier, Amy, when you were talking about later,
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: like with looking up and stuff. This is actually the
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: shop that came to my mind because this is one
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: where I think a lot of people go in and
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: like really don't think to look up, but there's so
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: many This one is one that has like those extra
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: levels and the railings and there's a lot of cool
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: things up there.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: This one also has the snake in the window. Like
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: if you go out the back door and it's like
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: a dead end alley thing, so you could really miss it.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: There's a snake in the window.
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: Yeah, when you come out of the shop, you take
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: a rite like you're heading to those really cool bathrooms,
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: and then right next to where the bathrooms are there's
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: an alley and I think a lot of people just
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: walk right by it. There are I think that there
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: might be some benches down there. But if you turn
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: down there there is a snake and I think that
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: is a lawn magic location too, is it or.
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: Is it snake?
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Just I think the snake is just kind of there,
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: so that's a thing. Yeah. There's also a few different
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: creatures in the front windows that do different things. There's
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: the floor that's kind of on its perch doing stuff. Yeah.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I was just triple checking it was the borometer. Yes,
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: but it's so beautiful, like seeing it again, like everything
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: that whole rooftop is so nice.
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: So okay.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: So another one that this is a pretty big one
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: as well, is Nocturn Alley. So it's just hitting off
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: to the side and you are going to find the
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: infamous Borgan and Brooks, the go to shop for dark artifacts.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: So if you want to find yourself a whore cross
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: or something very dark and very sketchy, that's the place
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: to go.
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: Unsurprisingly, this is my favorite part of.
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: Alley it feels like nighttime when you're there.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: I will say a tip as well, is it is so.
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: Much cooler down Nocturn Alley, literally cooler, but also like
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: literally literally temperature wise cooler.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Yeah. So there's a couple things to check out down
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: here when you're in Borgan and Brooks. Again, look up
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: because ninety percent of the props and set dressings that
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: are up on the second level are actually screen used
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: props from the films, so there's a lot of stuff there.
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: I do thing to add.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: Yeah, Also, there's the Vanishing cabinet replica in the corner
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: of the shop. If you put your ear up against it,
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: you hear the bird that's trapped inside, So definitely do that.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: That's a fun little thing.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: I love that particular prop so much.
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: There's also just like some nice creepy noises in there
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: and knocking on things and the you know, definitely it's again,
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: this is another shop where it can get really crowded
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: in there, So if you can find a time to
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: go in when it's not so crowded and just taking
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: time to look at everything in the glass cases, there's
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: some really cool, like creepy props in there. Yeah, it's
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: just a really cool store.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: I wish I mean, I know this is me being
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: a little too like asking for too much, but I
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: almost wish it was bigger like we had because it
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: is like its own section, and you know, I'm very
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: obviously you're very thankful that it got its own like
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: little corner, but I kind of wish it went on
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: a little bit more and it felt more like this
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: dark alley. And yeah, but it's it's super nice. It's
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: super immersive as well, and I like, I love how
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: dark and eerie it feels the minute you step into
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: it from you know, the colorful Diagon Alley and you know,
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: and and you you go into that that little corner
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: and it's like, oh, like it's nice. Gives you the chills,
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: but it's nice.
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: It's also I mean, this is I guess a tip
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: a little bit too, is a quick way to get
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: from one end to.
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: The other end of Diagon Alley, because if you're if.
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: Its Diagon Alley itself is super busy and you're looking
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: to leave the park or whatever you can it obviously
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: it loops around and so you can either enter you know,
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: down at the end, like the end end of the park,
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: or right.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: Next to our leaky Caldern is where it pops out.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you can skip the crowd of people staring at it,
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: brag in with their cell phones at Yes.
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: Yes, that's exactly a push right past where all those
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: people are.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: It's a nice little tip. Yeah.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: Also just remember this Bergen and Burks is where I
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: bought my replica for Tom Brittle's Diary. I was like,
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: I need to get it from there, and I did so. Yeah,
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: it was really really special. So next up we got
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: another iconic store attraction, which is a Leaky Cauldron. It's
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: a great place to sit on butter beer or grab
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: something to eat, and it's a great place you feel
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: like you're in the movie set as well. It's I
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: think it's bigger. Obviously it's bigger in scale. It's the
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: same as the Three Broomsticks.
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: But yeah, I actually think Three Broomsticks is bigger inside.
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: It might just be the way the seating is, but
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: it feels bigger. And Three Broomsticks definitely has more eating
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: because it's like the seating goes over into hogshead. And
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: also there's that whole back patio but with Leaky Cauldron
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: because they kind of take that like the long tables
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: like down the middle and everything you can you can
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: fit a lot of people in there.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: Yeah, this is another one where the decorating is just
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: so cool and just the way they made it look
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: like all the rickety stairs are like going like up
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: into hallways, and how they played with like scale and
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: perspective to make it look the right way. Like, it's
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: just very cool.
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: Mm hmm.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: What it's everyone's favorite thing to eat at Leaky, I don't.
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: I've got yeah, I got that thing on.
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: So my favorite is the Plowman's platter, which you can
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: get for one, which is what I do. And if
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: you're somebody who's a fan of like some salad, a
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: little scotch, eggs, some like pickles and beets and cheeses
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: and bread and like all of that, then that is
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: definitely something to try. I don't think everybody realizes you
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: can get it for one, but that has become my
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: new favorite.
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: It used to not be. I never thought to ever
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: get it.
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: I was like a Banger's and mash that nice little
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: chicken sandwich that's there, and then I decided one time
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: Amy and I were there and I was like, I'm
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: gonna get this Providence platter and now it's my go
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: to when I go, and it's not heavy like on
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: a hot day. It's like, yeah, really like refreshing because
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: it's salad and I mean cheese is heavy, but you
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: know what I mean, it's not like mashed potatoes.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: Yeah, right, right right. I love the bangers and mash
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: It's so good. It's like two sausages, mashed potatoes. Yeah,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: there's harrots, peas, all sorts of stuff. It's just oh,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: it's so good.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: The bang or sandwich is really good though too. You
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: know you've gotten that future.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Oh those like cooked tomatoes that are.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: That's my problem with the with the food menu here,
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: It's like I'm not that much of you know, I'm
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: not much of a meat person. So I mean there
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: is like you know, vegetarian options or vegan options, but
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: like to me, it's like very meat heavy the menu
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: like I'd rather go to. I mean, this is very
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: hypocritical to me because I.
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: Go to the UK is very meat heavy in terms
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: of like pob style menus.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: Yeah exactly, yes, yes, And I'm more like I'd be
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: okay with you know, just a normal cheese sandwich and
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: call it a day, Like.
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: I don't you probably like the plowman's platter then, because
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: it's not there is no meat that comes with it
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: other than the scotch egg. So the scotch egg is
- 1:13:04Speaker 4: like a hard boiled egg and then it's got like
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: the smallest ring of sausage around the egg and then
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: it's breaded.
- 1:13:12Speaker 5: Mh.
- 1:13:13Speaker 4: But that's the only like meat that is on that.
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: Everything else is just cheese and vegetables.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: That's good, Like I don't mind, I don't mind meat,
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: but I'm not, like you know, I'm not gonna probably
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: not going to order like the sausage like the big
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: ones and you know, like uh or the steak or
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: anything like. But this, you know, I'm gonna also kind
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: of like add it to my list because I need
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: to dry it for myself from the last one that
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: I please, yes, yes, now I'm curious yep.
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: And like obviously there's like the cottage pies and stuff
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: like that too, which can be really heavy on like
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: a hot day, but it's also very like everything on
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: that menu is very authentic the things you would get
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: in like a pub in England, so like it makes sense.
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: But the guinness stew, it's the menu the same as
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: in Hawk's Meat though.
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: So there's slight differences, like one has a shepherd's pie,
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: one has a cottage pie. The bangers and mash are
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: only at Leaky Cauldron. Three Broomsticks is much more like.
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: They have like these platters where you can get like
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: ribs and like chicken, like roast, like almost like a
- 1:14:18Speaker 4: rotisserie kind of chicken. I would say it's a little
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: bit more like americanized, but you can also still get
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: like like I mentioned, like fish. I think fish and
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: chips are on both. They have like corners past these
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: at three Broomsticks.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that the menu is bigger at Leaky.
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: I think so too.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: Yeah, they're both good, but.
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: I found, like on my last trip, I did like
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: doing three Broomsticks for breakfast and Leaky for lunch because
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: I prefer Leaky's menu for like lunch and dinner. So
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: that's an option too if you are maybe only there
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: for a day and you want to experience both, is
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: going to like three Broomsticks for breakfast and then Leaky
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: for lunch Unless you're not feeling adventurous with food, then
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: three Broomsticks might be a better option for lunch because
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: you can get more of those, like like I said,
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: like ribs and chicken. Yeah, but I do really love
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: the Leaky Cauldron.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: No, I know, I definitely need to planet trip with
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: you guys, and yeah, I need to follow your steps and.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: We've got the food covered, don't worry. Most of what
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: we do revolves around what are we eating that day, like.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: What snap are we getting?
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: And I feel like collectively like we've tried a lot
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: of different things off that well.
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: I like Amy and I we always get the pasties
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: at Three Roomsticks.
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: But I've had a lot of different things off the
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: Leaky Cauldron menu. So I feel like I definitely can
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: review and different things, and I've tried things, learned what's
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: my favorite? You know what I want to I think
- 1:16:02Speaker 4: if I went more, I would rotate through the menu more.
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: But when I do go a lot, I just once
- 1:16:06Speaker 4: you find your favorite, you're like, I'm just looking forward
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: to getting that.
- 1:16:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:16:10Speaker 4: So I don't know what I'm going to do when
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: I go to like Epic because it's all new food
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: that I've never had before, and I like can't eat.
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: That much one day, Like how am I going to choose?
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: Like this trip? Where do I try.
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: I do want to put a plug in for just
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: a couple other places though that weren't on this list.
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: So there is a little like gring Gottie thing that
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: you can go in to trade like muggle money for
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: wizarding money, and I think a lot of people I
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: don't know like what the name of it is if
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: it has a name, but it's tucked away kind of
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: like in that underpass where like the stages, and then
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: it's right it's right to the left of where the
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: stage is as you're walking towards where.
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: With Acres is.
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: And I definitely recommend, even if you're not planning to
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: like change any money over, just stopping in there because
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: there is a animatronic in there, and it's very small
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: even if there's no one in there and you just
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: peek your head in. And they also carry a little
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: bit of like gring God's themed merchandise in there as well.
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: And then there's also the newest shop, Globust Monday, which
- 1:17:21Speaker 4: is also in that underpass right across from the stage,
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: which is like travel inspired.
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: The posters in there, the travel posters, I still can't
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: I know, and I'm yeah, I'm mad that the new
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: York one is not for sale because it's really pretty.
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: So finally, if you choose to enter through King's Cross Station,
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: you'll actually pass through the magical illution between platforms nine
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: and ten and you're going to be entering platform nine
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: and three quarters and from there you can hop aboard
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: the Hogwarts Express, which is again a great immersive experience.
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: You don't actually see it when you're passing through platforms
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: sign and ten when you're you know, the effect isn't
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: the same as when someone's filming it for you. It
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: looks so much better when you look at yourself through
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: someone you know who's actually captured it. And but it's
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: it's so good too, like you feel like you're stepping
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: from a muggle world into the magical world.
- 1:18:27Speaker 5: It's really nice.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's very cool.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: And the detail again, like you feel like you're at
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: King's Cross Station and there are little Easter eggs. There
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: is a I believe the poster from It's either yeah,
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: the perfume from Hapflood prints. So this huge poster, like
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: this huge banner, it's this little like not to Haplood Prince. Yeah,
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: so it's really nice. So now we are jumping into
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: the attraction side of the park, which is the you know,
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: the place that gets usually most crowded. So first off,
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: we have the most important one, which is Harry Potter
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: and the Escape from Gringotts, which is a three D
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: multi dimensional journey through the valls of Gringots and you
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: team up with Bill Weasley, Harry Hermione and Ron as
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: you dodge trolls, done Dragon's, Bellatrick's Strange and he who
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: must not be named. And unlike Forbidden Journey, this is
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: not quite a news story but more of a side
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: story to the plotline scene and Harry Potter into Deathly
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: Hollows Part two in which this trio sneaks into green
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: Goots to retrieve in a hallor croux from Bellatrick's the
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: Strangest Vaults. So yeah, but it's it's a great ride,
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: yeah all in all, and you feel like you're literally
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: faced to fit with Valdemort and you get the chills,
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: and yeah, it's pretty it's pretty fantastic, Like they really
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: leveled up with this ride. Now that Forbidden Journey isn't
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: amazing and it will will forever be my favorite ride,
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: but this one in terms of like technology and in
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: terms of like, yeah, just probably even more. I feel
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: it's a bit more immersive even than for Britain Journey.
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: So yeah, it's definitely a standout.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: I gotta do it ball bump bump bum, but you're
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: just going off.
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: It's so good. I see that.
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: Like for me, that song is like forever times that
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: ride me and Amy when we go with our friends,
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: like we always like sing that part as we go
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: and going because I know we're about to go, And
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: it was kind of sad when I was there by
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: myself and like I like looked over and I was like,
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: my friends aren't here.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: Now everyone's gonna look at me weird.
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: I agree with what you say though, Tom about I mean,
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: I love this ride because this one doesn't make me
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: emotion sick, even though it's three D in the screens.
- 1:21:15Speaker 4: I think just the way that they were able to
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: do it. I think why it feels more immersive to
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: me than Forbidden Journey is because like Forbidden Journey, it
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: seems like it would be more immersive, right because it's
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: like the throwing you into all these scenes, but it's.
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: Not like.
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: Natural in a way, whereas like they really were able
- 1:21:34Speaker 4: to kind of like replicate, like, I'm on this this
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: cart that's taking me through you know breaks, especially in
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: that part when you leave where the screens are and
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: you're actually going through the part where there's the vaults and.
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: They still have like grip hook running. Yeah, he's it
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: doesn't look like a screen.
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: Yeah, he looks like he's really there.
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: And it just just being on a roller coaster type
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: attraction just feels like that's what it would be like
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: as you were going through these volts of green goths.
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: Yeah, just yeah, I love that ride.
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: Mm hmmm hmmm.
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: And it makes like you said, it makes more sense
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: because it's like if as if you were in the
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: actual cards, whereas Forbidden Journey, the lines are a little
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: blurred sometimes because you're like, am I in a broomstick?
- 1:22:20Speaker 5: And you know where am I? Really?
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: Like, you're never really one hundred percent sure what you
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: you know, who you are portraying other than you you
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: are Muggle entering the Wizarding World? But what am I
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: in canon universe? Like what am I even in? What
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: am I writing?
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: You know it's like am I in a seat? Am
- 1:22:40Speaker 5: I in a broom?
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: Like it's never quite clear, at least for me, maybe
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: I missed out on something.
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: But I mean, I think you're supposed to be like
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: on a broom the whole time, but it doesn't to me,
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: it doesn't really feel that way.
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: No, that I was supposed to be the bench, because
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: don't they say something like we've enchanted these benches.
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: Oh yeah, like that's kind of.
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: But if you miss that, it's like huh, and that
- 1:23:06Speaker 4: like kind of doesn't make sense. Like I feel like
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: the only time you really feel like is when you're
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: in the quidditch scenes, Like I feel like that's the
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: only time where you're like, Okay, I feel like I'm
- 1:23:14Speaker 4: flying and I'm on a room, but like right like
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: I'm on this bench and now I'm in front of
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: this dragon and now I'm on the bench and the
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: Aragogue's layer, like it kind of doesn't.
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: It's harder to Can you imagine the students looking at
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: the sky and seeing this bench of people just.
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: Bench, It just doesn't make as much sense, So I
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: know completely.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: Yeah, So that was a great point, Yeah, that you
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: brought up about the carts and you know, it being
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: a lot more in tune with the scene and the
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: whole story itself, and even right at.
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: The beginning right, like when you know you're you enter
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: the ride and you go through and then you meet
- 1:23:57Speaker 4: up and you got Baltimore and Bellatrex there and you know,
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: you know, Belletrix is like you know, she casts a
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: spell on you as you're suspended there and then you
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: drop and it just it's like perfectly timed to her
- 1:24:10Speaker 4: casting the spell on you. And I mean another another
- 1:24:13Speaker 4: tip here is if you can get in the last row,
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: get in row six, because you will have the best
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: experience on the ride, especially with that drop, because you
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: if you get dropped, Yeah, if you like the drop,
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: if you if you're really nervous about a drop, ask
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: them to be in a lower row. Especially those first
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: three rows you barely drop. But that back row, especially
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: if you're short like me, your feet don't touch the
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: ground when you're sitting in there, and so you just
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: really feel like it adds to the thrill aspect of it.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: Yeah. So a couple of things to spot when you're
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: in line for Green Gods. Unfortunately with this one, there's
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: no actual props in this line that I'm aware of,
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: but there's some cool things to look for anyway. So
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: if the line is long enough and you're rotted. Outside.
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: There is a replica of a Gringotts bank cart out there,
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: and this was actually built from the blueprints of the
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: film prop cart and it weighs three five hundred pounds,
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: so it was pretty hefty, so that's.
- 1:25:27Speaker 5: It's not a prop.
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: Definitely not a prop because the prop wouldn't weigh a
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: quarter of that.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, But it looks like the ones from the movies.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: So it's pretty cool. Inside the bank, in like the
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: lobby section, there's all the animatronics of the Goblin bank tellers,
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: and the one that's kind of central in the middle
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: there talks as you're going by, So this is a
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: good spot to stop and take a picture as well,
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: because you can get the moving Goblin behind you. It's
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: kind of cool. Farther down the line you see a
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: whole bunch of daily profits and their headlines show like
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: where in the Harry Potter timeline the bride is taking place.
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: Kind of puts you in the moment a little bit more.
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: And right near that same spot, the line is lined
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: by office doors. They have familiar Goblin names on them,
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: so you'll see grip Hook's office door as well. In
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: this hallway My favorite part of the line is the elevator.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: I think the elevator is so cool. First, the meter
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: that's above the door is really fun. It gives the
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: levels as miles underground, above miles underground, and then above
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: that it explains like in terms of how deep you're going,
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: and it says like deeper or deep, deeper, extraordinarily deep,
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: even deeper again in bottom. And it's got a little
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: like die all the moves, so it's cute. And then
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: the elevator ride itself is really fun because like the
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: floor moves up and down and it makes it feel
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: like you're moving. And then you've got screens that are
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: going on either side. If you look up in one
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: of the corners, you see a mountain troll up there
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: that kind of like drops you more than the elevator,
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: So that's something to look out for.
- 1:27:28Speaker 5: Mm hmm.
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: There's also a pre show a little clip that they
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: with I think it's Bill Yeah, and yeah, isn't Arthur
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: Weasley there too? Hagrid Okay, I got mixed up, but yeah,
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: I do. I do remember that little clip.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: Yes, in the pre show room you can actually see uh,
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: I believe it's this room isn't there there's the picture
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: of the Weasley's on Vaca Egypt.
- 1:28:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, and I always forget because it's like
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: when you do a single rider line, you miss all
- 1:28:09Speaker 4: of the queue, like they put you like you're so
- 1:28:11Speaker 4: very briefly in the main bank and then you're you know,
- 1:28:14Speaker 4: you bypass the pre show, you bypass the elevator, all
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: of that.
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:28:20Speaker 4: So single rider line is great, but if you haven't
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: been in a while, or if you've never been, like
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: super recommend going through the regular queue when you can.
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it's one of those that you always think,
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: like I can do single writer, but it's so worth
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: it to make like the full thing because you get
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: you get to not miss out on a lot of
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: things that you would otherwise or that you're probably like
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: just walking really quickly because there's you know, you go
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: you go by. At least when I did it for
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: a bit in Journey, I was talking to Amy last
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: episode that you know you go by, like we both
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: agree that it would like really fast, so you don't
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: get like much time to to breathe it in. So
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: whenever you're in this like in the main queue, it's like, Okay,
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: you get to see the details little bit more and
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: and just take more pictures and live it a little
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: bit like immerse yourself more, whereas you know the other
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: the other one. It's like, okay, I just want to
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: do the ride. So if you've done it, yeah, it's
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: definitely good. It's good a good option. It fits your
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: third or fourth time, but it's always worth it to
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: just you know, get to experience have the full experience
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: of the queue.
- 1:29:28Speaker 4: I will say, unless the wait time is really short
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: though you're still running through it, like if the if
- 1:29:33Speaker 4: you go through the main queue of like Forbonden Journey
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: or even the main queue of Gringots, and the wait.
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: Times in like ten minutes, you're really not stopping to
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: see anything because you're kind of constantly walking.
- 1:29:42Speaker 4: But if you're yeah, if you have a wait time
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: that's like half an hour, thirty five minutes or forty
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: forty five minutes.
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: Like you'll be able to really like experience that.
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: And I think for me, like if I'm there with friends,
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: that's like I feel like we typically will go through
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: the regular queue because you have people there to talk
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: to and you know.
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: You're not.
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: But yeah, single rider is great if you just want
- 1:30:02Speaker 4: to ride the ride, or maybe you've already gone through
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: the queue that day, but you want to ride the
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: ride again, but the wait times high. But yeah, I
- 1:30:09Speaker 4: definitely do not skip out on the queues here.
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: For sure.
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: So last, but definitely not least, we have the Hobward's Express,
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: which is, you know, you board the iconic scarlet steam
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: engine at King's Cross Station and travel across first a
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: British city and then the countryside to Hawk's Meat Station
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: in Islands of Adventure. So again, in true universal fashion,
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: it's a fully immersive experience wherever you look, and it's
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: a really cute ride and it fulfills like the purpose
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: of transporting you from one place to the other. So
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: this is not just about you know, this is not
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: just a ride. It's a literal it's a literal train
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: that is taking you from one, you know, from point
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: A to point B. Yeah, so you know that even
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: though you're watching a show through your screens and everything,
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: you know that the train is actually moving, which makes
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: it even cooler.
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: And these are like actual antique steam engines too that
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: they refurbished for this, which is very cool. So there's
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: also a couple shows in diagon Alley that I wanted
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: to touch on because I love the shows. There's The
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: Beadle of the Bard Show and the Celestina Warback Show.
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: For Beatle the Bard, puppeteers and a narrator performs selections
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: from Beetle the Bard. It varies which story you'll get,
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: but they do performances of The Fountain of Fair Fortune
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: and The Tale of the Three Brothers.
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: This is my favorite show amongst both parks. Do not
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: miss it if you have a chance to see it
- 1:31:51Speaker 4: more than once in a day. I recommend because, like
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: Amy said, it does I feel like they alternate between
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: which they do tell the Three Brothers. I always get
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: super excited when that's the one I get because that's
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: my favorite of the two.
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: But they are just yeah, it's so so great.
- 1:32:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: And then my favorite is the Celestina Warback Show. Celestina
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: and the Banshees are definitely a musty. All of the
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: actresses that they have who play Celestina are amazing. They're
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: all so good, and the songs are just really clever
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: and catchy, and it's just a really fun show. So also,
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: if you're there during the holidays, there's a special Christmas Show,
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: which is actually definitely my favorite. Like I love the
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: regular Celestina show, but the Christmas Show it's so good.
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: There's fake snow at one point.
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: The songs are holiday themed.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: THK you Christmas Christmas kind of me. It's so cute.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: I love it.
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: See, this is why I have to, you know, take
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: a step back and try to just relax a little
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: bit more. That's why I have to go with you guys,
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: just so I can just breathe it all in and
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: just not be so like so desperate to go from
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: one point to the other because I'm I wouldn't stop
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: for the shows, like I'd be.
- 1:33:15Speaker 5: Like, no, I'm missing I'm missing time. Yeah, I know, but.
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: Missed some gems.
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: Tom, I know, but that's because I haven't been with
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: the right people.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: I can picture you being chosen from the audience though.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: I'm pulled up on the stage and sell Astina puts
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: her boa on you and then you have to dance
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: like I feel like they would pict you.
- 1:33:35Speaker 5: Oh my god.
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean you do get two different type of
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: theme part people right Like I feel like, especially as
- 1:33:43Speaker 4: I've gotten older, like I said, I'm much more like
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: an ambiance kind of person I could easily go to
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: the park and not ride any rides and just see
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: the shows and eat and be in the atmosphere, you know.
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: But I've definitely been in that same thing where it's
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: like just trying to run from ride to ride to ride.
- 1:34:02Speaker 4: Get I think the yeah, and I think the benefit
- 1:34:06Speaker 4: of like being able to go more frequently is helpful
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: because then you don't necessarily always feel the need and
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: I don't.
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: Feel this way.
- 1:34:14Speaker 4: I feel this way a lot about Disney because I
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: go They're much more, but you can slow down a
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: little bit more. But like I said to sometimes it's
- 1:34:21Speaker 4: also about the people you're with, right, Like I feel like, yeah,
- 1:34:23Speaker 4: you came with me and Amy, like we're stopping to
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: watch the shows, Like we're stopping.
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: To have those ambient ambience moments. We'll make it happen
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: one day.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: Beat back blood and throw that here.
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: I wish they would sell or have the playlist like
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: on Spotify Apple Music.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: I feel like I should retire from my day job,
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: move to Florida, and I could just like audition and
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: be one of the banshees just in the background dancing.
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: That's super like I always wanted to be part of
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: like the cast members from the parks, either a student
- 1:35:05Speaker 2: or whatever. Like I always wanted to be one of
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: you know, and have that experience. I even remember I
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: wanted to consider it, and I was trying to look
- 1:35:13Speaker 2: for ways that I could just literally work in universals.
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: So there were some like programs like summer programs I
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: think back in the day. But yeah, no, eventually like
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: it never it never went anywhere, But I would have
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: loved to just experience it for a while and get
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: to live it every day. It must be so, I mean,
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: it must be really strict, and they must have to
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: comply with a lot of different like guides and guidelines
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: and stuff. So it's it must be hard, but I
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: mean it must be like equally rewarding.
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: Yeah, So I mean there are people like you never
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: say never, right, because that's right, you never know, you
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: never know.
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: You did us pick up and move to another country recently? Yeah,
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: was stopping from just yeah, moved to Florida.
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: Next stop is Interactor at the Warner Brothers Studio tour. So, uh,
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: before we move on and we wrap up this segment,
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: I just wanted to throw some behind the scenes data,
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: uh from these rights so we did previously say in
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: the previous episode that the trio had filmed footage for
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: Forbidden Journey, but unfortunately this well, this happened after the
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: last film was released, so they were no longer under
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: contract from Warner Brothers. So unfortunately, neither Emma Watson nor
- 1:36:48Speaker 2: Daniel Arcliffe were able to return to reprise the roles
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: for the Rides. However, Rupert, the Phelp Twins, Donald Gleason,
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: Helena Bonham Carter, and rap Fines reprised their conic roles
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: and the production took place in late twenty twelve. And
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: I remember being so desperate for this because it had
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: been a year of post Potter depression for me, and
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: I was like, I was so desperate, like for for
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: little bread combs, and I needed like this reunion so bad.
- 1:37:16Speaker 5: And I was like, I think I'm getting it.
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: And there were like these really strong rumors that they
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: had all been in the studio to film, and then
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: when I saw that it wasn't, you know, the original
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: trio and just Rupert, I was like, oh damn, Like,
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: when is this ever gonna happen? And we did get
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: it a lot of years later, but yeah, and yeah,
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: and then also well, as we all know, the Howartz
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: Express ride features silhouettes of the Golden Trio which kind
- 1:37:41Speaker 2: of obviously look like Dan, Rupert and Emma, but it's
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: just Rupert and two Stone doubles. And to make things worse,
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: Hermione's voice was nothing like Emma's, which again sparked widespread
- 1:37:54Speaker 2: backlash from many fans who experienced the ride, I include myself.
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: I'm sorry for the actress, but that wasn't it. Thankfully,
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: by late twenty twenty three, the voice was replaced by
- 1:38:07Speaker 2: much more similar voice, which was either Emma herself or
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: most likely an AI generated clip, which sounded so much
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: better because the first one it sounded so like nasal.
- 1:38:20Speaker 5: Or you know, it was annoying. I didn't like it.
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and like the amount.
- 1:38:30Speaker 5: I swear, I swear that was That was the.
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: One punchline I was thinking about. It was that single line.
- 1:38:35Speaker 5: It was like I can't hear it, like.
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: So many people can do a passable Emma Watson impersonation,
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: Like how how did you mess that up that bad?
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: I know, And this was before, like you know, they
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: they really really distanced themselves from I mean, it does
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: make sense why they didn't return to to, you know,
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: to record, to shoot new material. But at the same time,
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: it was like, was it so hard to get them
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: in the studio recording studio for like ten minutes? You know,
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: just say this, this and that and you're good to go.
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: Here's your million dollar check.
- 1:39:16Speaker 5: That's it.
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: It would have been as simple as that, because well,
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: Harry's voice not that bad though, yeah it's Hermione's that
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: was yeah, yeah, but thankfully it sounds a lot better.
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: I haven't been on the ride for like since twenty eighteen, so,
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: but I have seen clips and it sounds so much
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: closer to Emma. So that's a you know, props to
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: Universal for changing that.
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: They got tired of seeing all the jokes about it online.
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and I feel bad for the actress, probably because yeah,
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: well so yeah, that wraps up our discussion.
- 1:40:09Speaker 6: I'm an Avello.
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: Okay, so we do have a homanon Revellio. I feel
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: like this is gonna be way easier than the one
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: that Tom gave us. Okay, so here's my three clues.
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: Tell me who you think this is. This character has
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: a bit of a wild side, has a face only
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: a mother and someone else could love, and spends a
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: lot of time underground. Face only how forced me to
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: step these up? So no more super easy and I'm terrible.
- 1:41:02Speaker 5: I'm terrible guessing.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: I gotta make these harder now.
- 1:41:07Speaker 3: This is why I'm no longer a raven cloud.
- 1:41:12Speaker 5: Oh God, I think underground.
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: Okay, So it has a bit of a wild side,
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: a face only a mother and someone else could love.
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: It spends a lot of time underground.
- 1:41:29Speaker 4: When you say a face only a mother and someone
- 1:41:31Speaker 4: else could love, is there a specific someone else, yes?
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: Or just.
- 1:41:38Speaker 5: Do you have something?
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: No, not at all.
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: I thought that that second clue is going to give
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: it away too.
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: I mean, a face only a mother like could love.
- 1:41:59Speaker 3: I think of like Dudley. But none of these other No,
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: none of these clues.
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: It definitely not Dudley.
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: Is this a human or is it a creature allowed
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: to tell us that? Okay?
- 1:42:15Speaker 2: Can I give my first I'm just gonna throw it in,
- 1:42:18Speaker 2: Peter Pettigrew, No.
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: I understand why you say that underground.
- 1:42:26Speaker 5: I know his mother's a.
- 1:42:29Speaker 4: Bit of a wild side too, I think, But yeah,
- 1:42:31Speaker 4: and he spends time underground.
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: I'm curious, who did you think that someone else could love?
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: For people?
- 1:42:36Speaker 5: I don't know? Yeh, I didn't think that one though.
- 1:42:47Speaker 3: At least with Tom's I had like my guesses were
- 1:42:50Speaker 3: kind of clothes.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: I do you give up?
- 1:42:56Speaker 5: I don't want to give up.
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: Do you want to do you want to throw one?
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: Throw out like a fourth clue?
- 1:43:10Speaker 4: Mmm, I'm gonna feel so stupid when you tell us
- 1:43:14Speaker 4: who it is. It's like gonna make so much sense.
- 1:43:24Speaker 4: It's so difficult. Amy can't even think.
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: Of another clue.
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of one that's not like obvious,
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: super obvious.
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: Because underground, I could imply they work at the ministry.
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: Travels for work.
- 1:43:43Speaker 5: Fletcher, No, do they work at the ministry?
- 1:43:53Speaker 4: Uh?
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: Not at the ministry?
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: No?
- 1:43:57Speaker 5: What are some underground employer.
- 1:44:02Speaker 3: Travels for work?
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: Like everybody travels for work?
- 1:44:06Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: No?
- 1:44:09Speaker 4: I mean if they just work at the ministry, they're
- 1:44:10Speaker 4: just going there and they're not. Do you mean like
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: they travel to do their job?
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: Yes, they travel as a living like their job isn't
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: Like like their employer is UK based, but their job isn't.
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: I'm making it worse.
- 1:44:36Speaker 5: So he's a traveler, he or she is a traveler.
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: Tries to put off getting a hair cut. This is
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: not going well.
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: That just made me more confused.
- 1:45:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just trying to go along with the underground
- 1:45:22Speaker 2: thing and travel because I think there's something there, like underground.
- 1:45:25Speaker 2: You have to think of someone who spends time underground.
- 1:45:30Speaker 4: Mm hmm, like literally underground or like is this a
- 1:45:34Speaker 4: So that's why I originally was gunga splatcher. I'm like,
- 1:45:37Speaker 4: you know, he's underground, like he has a little bit
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: of a criminal kind of thing, like do you mean
- 1:45:41Speaker 4: literally underground?
- 1:45:43Speaker 3: Is it?
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: Yes?
- 1:45:45Speaker 3: You got it?
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: Oh, so underground like tombs and stuff. He's like curse
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: breaker for gringos, which is underground UK based, but his job.
- 1:45:57Speaker 5: We were talking about him, yes, oh my god, I.
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: Well face only a mother, Missus Weasley or someone else flour.
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: When I read mother, I thought, Molly, but.
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: You know what you're I'm so happy I got that.
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: Actually, I think your clue that did came me in
- 1:46:14Speaker 4: was the refusing a haircut because he's got long hair.
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: Yes, okay, so proud, Oh.
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: Bill, I thought it was fitting. You know, we're talking
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: about green dots.
- 1:46:34Speaker 4: Well, and now I'm think so stupid because of course
- 1:46:36Speaker 4: it's him, because we were talking about green dots.
- 1:46:38Speaker 3: Guy.
- 1:46:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it makes total sense now yeah.
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: Oh my goodness, that was a good one.
- 1:46:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:46:50Speaker 4: So last episode, we asked what was your initial reaction
- 1:46:55Speaker 4: when you first heard Harry Potter would be getting a
- 1:46:57Speaker 4: theme park attraction. So a few of our listeners provided
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: an answer to this. So Anne said, I was so excited.
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: I love theme parks and themed entertainment in general, so
- 1:47:11Speaker 4: my two favorite things coming together seemed like a huge win.
- 1:47:16Speaker 3: I agree, and.
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: Carolyn shared, I was excited at the possibility of being
- 1:47:22Speaker 4: able to be in my favorite world.
- 1:47:24Speaker 3: The fact that you can go to Gringods or Hogwarts
- 1:47:27Speaker 3: just felt too magical to be real. I couldn't go
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: that soon, though.
- 1:47:30Speaker 4: When I did, I was able to share it with
- 1:47:32Speaker 4: my two kids, who were definitely too little to do
- 1:47:34Speaker 4: the rides, but loved it and solidified Universal Orlando as
- 1:47:37Speaker 4: a wonderful place that brings their favorite worlds to life.
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: They are so.
- 1:47:41Speaker 4: Excited for Epic Universe as a result, and I don't
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: think we'll be able to wait too long. Epic has
- 1:47:46Speaker 4: too many worlds they are dying to see. And then
- 1:47:51Speaker 4: Lucy shared, honestly, I can't.
- 1:47:53Speaker 3: Remember me either, Lucy.
- 1:47:55Speaker 4: I would not be able to answer this question because
- 1:47:57Speaker 4: I don't remember how I felt either, but it's been
- 1:48:00Speaker 4: on the bucket list for a long time and I
- 1:48:02Speaker 4: very much worth the visit ten years after opening.
- 1:48:06Speaker 3: Absolutely nice. And then Felicia shared the thought was whatever,
- 1:48:12Speaker 3: I'll just wait for it.
- 1:48:13Speaker 4: To come to Universal Studios Hollywood. Now, Felicia said, we
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: don't have to read this one on the episode, but
- 1:48:18Speaker 4: of course we do. Felicia, I'm glad it eventually did
- 1:48:25Speaker 4: go there, and we'll talk more about that later. But
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: and from Logan, who's topsy Turvy Logan on Instagram, sheid,
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: just extreme excitement. And from Jerry, Jerry also, you know,
- 1:48:44Speaker 4: like me, said that I'm afraid I can't remember my
- 1:48:47Speaker 4: exact thoughts when I first heard about the Harry Potter
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: theme park, she says, I know I was excited. An
- 1:48:52Speaker 4: early article about the park being planned is in my
- 1:48:55Speaker 4: Harry Potter scrap book next to a large article from
- 1:48:57Speaker 4: Parade magazine from when the park opened. I do remember
- 1:49:00Speaker 4: learning that Disney had lost out due to being unwilling
- 1:49:04Speaker 4: to give JKR enough creative input and thinking that it
- 1:49:07Speaker 4: may have been that company's biggest error ever.
- 1:49:10Speaker 3: I do remember this too. However, now I will say
- 1:49:14Speaker 3: I don't think it would have ever fit in Disney.
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: It's just they're so separate.
- 1:49:18Speaker 4: Like so, I think that was such a good move,
- 1:49:21Speaker 4: but I do think Disney did miss out from a
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: business perspective. Jerry also said, I have never considered myself
- 1:49:28Speaker 4: a theme park person. I don't like most row rides
- 1:49:30Speaker 4: or roller coasters, and up to that time only up
- 1:49:34Speaker 4: and up to that time one day in Disneyland and
- 1:49:36Speaker 4: one day in Epcot when visiting relations was the extent
- 1:49:39Speaker 4: of my lifetime major theme park experiences. However, I know
- 1:49:43Speaker 4: that once I knew about the HP Park, I wanted
- 1:49:46Speaker 4: to go, although distance and costs prevented this until late
- 1:49:49Speaker 4: September twenty fourteen, when I was able to combine a
- 1:49:52Speaker 4: trip there with another event in Florida.
- 1:49:53Speaker 3: Thus I was able to go both to both die
- 1:49:56Speaker 3: Hogsmade and diagon Alley. Nice. That was me too.
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: I didn't get into the parks until several years later.
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: I think twenty seventeen may have been when I first
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: went for Harry Potter celebration. RIP really missed that that event,
- 1:50:12Speaker 4: and so I did get to go when both parks
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: were there. I can't even imagine going now and only
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: having you know, only having Hogsmeade.
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: So yes, thank you to everyone who's sent in answers
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: to that question.
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, So for our discussion question, we would like
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: to hear from you what is your must do when
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: visiting Diagon Alley in Orlando. So be sure to drop

- 1:51:30Speaker 3: Well, this is fun. I love Diagon Allie.
- 1:51:32Speaker 4: I'm so glad we decided to make this a little
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: mini series so I didn't fully miss.
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: Out on the park discussions with the last one. And
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: of course we got a couple more theme parks of discussion.
- 1:51:46Speaker 5: And I'm really excited to hear.
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: The international parts yeah, and what are you really excited to.
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: Hear about tom your visit to Epic Universe.
- 1:51:56Speaker 3: I'm really excited to visit.
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: It's a couple more weeks.
- 1:52:02Speaker 5: It's exciting.
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: This is the first time you're going to go to
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: one of the theme parks that it as close to
- 1:52:08Speaker 2: the to the opening date.
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, definitely, Yeah, So definitely, like follow all our
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: socials because I'm sure we'll be posting a ton of stuff.
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: There's a lot to see, a lot to eat.
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: Like I said earlier, Oh my good to choose.
- 1:52:26Speaker 4: I guess you'll find out maybe on our socials maybe
- 1:52:29Speaker 4: you couldn't.
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: Should Nata?
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: That would that would be fun.
- 1:52:35Speaker 4: I do have to make already picked out though, so
- 1:52:38Speaker 4: like I've already got something and you know I'm going
- 1:52:40Speaker 4: to get that butter beer.
- 1:52:41Speaker 3: Macron because I've been talking about that.
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: But also just excited to get back to Hogsmead and Taigon,
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: Ali as well, because my last trip was, like I said,
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: it was solo.
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: It was a very quick trip. So excited to have
- 1:52:57Speaker 3: a little bit more time yea there that as well.
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: It'll be fun because I feel like the day at
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: yep at Yepic.
- 1:53:11Speaker 3: I haven't had the whole time and that.
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: Oh man. Yeah, but I feel like the day at
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: Epic Universe is going to be crazier and more packed,
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: and it'll be nice to be able to go to
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: hogs Meeat and Die God and like have a little
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: bit more like chill day on either side too.
- 1:53:32Speaker 4: So yes, we planned it specifically so that we're like
- 1:53:35Speaker 4: bookending Epics, going to be in the middle, because that's
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: going to be the busier day if that park is
- 1:53:41Speaker 4: open later than the others.
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: Obviously we've never been there before, so it's going to
- 1:53:46Speaker 3: be go, go go.
- 1:53:47Speaker 4: I guess jury is out on whether we get to
- 1:53:49Speaker 4: ride Battle of the Ministry because it's just been super crazy.
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: It's weird because some days I'll check the app and
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: it's like a two hundred minute wait, and then the
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: next day it'll be like sixty minutes.
- 1:54:01Speaker 4: I'm like, it's so I think it's just like weird timing,
- 1:54:05Speaker 4: and I really wish they had brought back the virtual
- 1:54:08Speaker 4: que for that. And we can obviously talk more about
- 1:54:10Speaker 4: that when we talk about Epic Universe, but because I
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: have some thoughts too about just how it now plays out.
- 1:54:18Speaker 4: But yeah, I guess so more to come so if
- 1:54:21Speaker 4: you're liking this little mini series, definitely let us know.
- 1:54:25Speaker 3: Because I'd love to do more mini series in the future.
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: It's fun and right now it's only ninety minutes.
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: Oh that's not bad. That's not bad. I mean if
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: you compare it, I mean, pull up.
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: If you pull up Hagrids, I bet you, Hagrids has
- 1:54:39Speaker 4: a very similar weight.
- 1:54:40Speaker 3: And Hagrid's has been open now.
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: For right consistently as I've been looking. Hagrids has been
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: a longer wait than Ministry, which is weird.
- 1:54:52Speaker 5: Mm hm wow, go ahead.
- 1:54:55Speaker 3: I'm excited.
- 1:54:56Speaker 4: Yeah, and I love Hagrids and I didn't go on
- 1:54:58Speaker 4: it the last time I was there because I I
- 1:55:00Speaker 4: want to wait in the line by myself that long.
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: I'm excited to be on Hagrids again.
- 1:55:03Speaker 4: And yeah, so if you're liking our theme part content,
- 1:55:07Speaker 4: definitely stick around because we will have more coming up.
- 1:55:10Speaker 3: In the next couple of episodes. Yeah, all right, and we.
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: Will leave you on that note. I'm Amy, I'm Nicole,
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: and I'm Tom.
