- 0:19Speaker 1: Hey, guess what. This is a new one, brand new
- 0:22Speaker 1: Mark Belling podcast. Now if you're listening to it April
- 0:25Speaker 1: twenty seventh, I guess it's not brand new, but it's
- 0:28Speaker 1: brand new because I'm doing it right now. For frame
- 0:30Speaker 1: of reference, this is the afternoon of President Trump's State
- 0:34Speaker 1: of the Union address, So we're doing the program on
- 0:39Speaker 1: what day is it today? Tuesday the twenty fourth, So
- 0:41Speaker 1: that's the time frame for this podcast. My podcast season
- 0:45Speaker 1: runs May one to December thirty First, First things first,
- 0:49Speaker 1: there are a lot of people who don't know that.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I kind of thought that was covered. First of all,
- 0:54Speaker 1: when I was doing my old radio show. The last
- 0:56Speaker 1: two years of my radio show, I was working May
- 0:59Speaker 1: first through December thirty first, and this podcast in the
- 1:03Speaker 1: first year we started at May first and ran into
- 1:05Speaker 1: December thirty first, and I don't know, a couple of
- 1:07Speaker 1: times we mentioned in the podcast that and the last
- 1:10Speaker 1: one that we did on the year, we talked at
- 1:13Speaker 1: great length that this would be the last one. I'm
- 1:16Speaker 1: just telling you, I've been inundated with people who think
- 1:20Speaker 1: that I've retired, or where's the podcast? Are you going
- 1:23Speaker 1: to do another podcast? Have you been canceled no, this
- 1:26Speaker 1: is the plan. Break. My plan for from now until
- 1:29Speaker 1: the end of time is to have a podcast that's
- 1:31Speaker 1: going to run from May first to December thirty first. However,
- 1:37Speaker 1: we have a need for a special podcast. It's been
- 1:40Speaker 1: about what seven weeks. There's no way I can go
- 1:44Speaker 1: seven weeks without commenting and all of the things that
- 1:46Speaker 1: are going on in the world. So what we're going
- 1:48Speaker 1: to do today is have a special podcast that's going
- 1:51Speaker 1: to kind of be a bullet point podcast of covering
- 1:54Speaker 1: some recent events, offering perspective on a couple of things,
- 1:58Speaker 1: and moving on. I also have a couple of announcements
- 2:01Speaker 1: for those of you, and all of the podcasts are
- 2:05Speaker 1: still out there in order, and you can go back
- 2:07Speaker 1: and listen to the December thirty first podcast, because that's
- 2:10Speaker 1: when we did our farewell to my producer, Paul, who
- 2:13Speaker 1: had been with me forever and ever and ever and
- 2:15Speaker 1: ever and ever, and we were done. So who do
- 2:17Speaker 1: you think is producing this special podcast? There? He is?
- 2:23Speaker 1: He just there, he right is in there. Actually, we
- 2:26Speaker 1: do have a new producer in the second season of
- 2:29Speaker 1: the podcast, which officially begins May first. This transition little
- 2:33Speaker 1: podcast that we're doing here, I guess is in its
- 2:36Speaker 1: own category, although it will be This is podcast number
- 2:39Speaker 1: one oh six. Jason Gotch, who is the midday host
- 2:42Speaker 1: on WISN Radio, where I work for thirty five years,
- 2:46Speaker 1: He is going to be the new producer of the
- 2:47Speaker 1: podcast and he's going to be taking over and in
- 2:50Speaker 1: the meantime, Paul is teaching him how to do it.
- 2:53Speaker 1: He's going to share with him everything that he knows,
- 2:56Speaker 1: which should take what two minutes and fifteen seconds five
- 3:00Speaker 1: minutes at the most. So Jason's going to learn how
- 3:02Speaker 1: to do the podcast and he'll take over on May first,
- 3:05Speaker 1: and Paul is providing his assistance in the transitions. That's
- 3:10Speaker 1: the first big change after like, yeah, it was about
- 3:15Speaker 1: thirty five years, my first year of radio. We went
- 3:17Speaker 1: through three or four producers, then Paul came in. I've
- 3:20Speaker 1: only had him plus obviously fill ins when Paul was
- 3:23Speaker 1: on vacation. So we'll have a new producer when the
- 3:26Speaker 1: podcast returns for its full season. But both Paul and
- 3:30Speaker 1: Jason are in here today. I want to address given
- 3:40Speaker 1: that we're on the afternoon of the State of the
- 3:42Speaker 1: Union address, that's when I'm recording this. So I'm just
- 3:46Speaker 1: convinced there's going to be all sorts of fireworks and
- 3:49Speaker 1: crap at the State of the Union. So if you're
- 3:52Speaker 1: listening to it after it, I can't comment on all
- 3:55Speaker 1: that it was, other than to just anticipate that that's
- 3:59Speaker 1: what's going on to happen, which is kind of the
- 4:01Speaker 1: point of today's podcast. I believe just about every issue
- 4:08Speaker 1: that's creating divisiveness in America right now it's all because
- 4:14Speaker 1: of feigned outrage from the left. I don't even think
- 4:20Speaker 1: they're actually outraged. They're outraged that Trump is the president.
- 4:25Speaker 1: They're outraged that they're not in power, but I don't
- 4:28Speaker 1: think they are sincerely bothered by anything he's doing, none
- 4:34Speaker 1: of it, which is why the reaction is such an overreaction.
- 4:41Speaker 1: If you're gonna fake it, you may as well really
- 4:43Speaker 1: fake it. What's the point of faking it and just
- 4:46Speaker 1: putting on a few press releases in abject No, Let's
- 4:49Speaker 1: go to the streets. Let's riot, let's scream, Let's start
- 4:53Speaker 1: throwing the F bombs all over the place. Let's say
- 4:57Speaker 1: that everything is the greatest threat to democracy of all time.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Let's just say everything is terrible. Let's stage ludicrous events.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Let's act like children. There's no differentiation in the response
- 5:16Speaker 1: to everything. Everything is the same, over the top, terrible thing.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So if some Trump actually does something that truly is
- 5:24Speaker 1: outrageous or actually bothers them, it'll be the same reaction
- 5:28Speaker 1: because everything that they're responding to, they're giving one hundred percent.
- 5:32Speaker 1: And I'm just telling you it's all fake, and I
- 5:36Speaker 1: know why it's fake, and I know why you're giving
- 5:38Speaker 1: why they're giving this type of reaction to Trump. Do
- 5:42Speaker 1: either of you know why? Do you want to volunteer
- 5:44Speaker 1: an answer? Jason's never given an answer yet, Paul, do
- 5:46Speaker 1: you want to volunteer an answer as to you're training? Jason?
- 5:51Speaker 1: In your word, you never paid attention when I actually
- 5:54Speaker 1: did it, when I actually did the program. Jason, do
- 6:00Speaker 1: you have an opinion as to why there all of
- 6:03Speaker 1: these reactions are so hysterical and over the top. Jason says,
- 6:11Speaker 1: they're saying that, yeah, but that's not it. They don't
- 6:17Speaker 1: have anything to rally around, and they don't have anyone
- 6:24Speaker 1: to rally around. Look where we are right now, we're
- 6:28Speaker 1: early in twenty six. The campaign for president on the
- 6:33Speaker 1: Democratic side is going to be kicking in by late
- 6:35Speaker 1: this year early next We now know that the year
- 6:39Speaker 1: before the primaries is actually when the candidates are chosen.
- 6:43Speaker 1: We saw that on the Republican side last time around.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Trump didn't win the Republican nomination in twenty four. He
- 6:51Speaker 1: went it in twenty three. He got into the race,
- 6:54Speaker 1: The Santus was in the race, Nikki Healy was in
- 6:56Speaker 1: the race. But Trump took a commanding lead in the
- 6:59Speaker 1: polls and then want to crush them all in the primaries.
- 7:02Speaker 1: It was over before anybody actually voted. The polling determines
- 7:08Speaker 1: whether or not you're gonna get any campaign fundraising. The
- 7:12Speaker 1: candidates that don't do well in the polls fall up.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Remember when Kamala Harris ran for president, you're the Joe
- 7:18Speaker 1: Biden one. She dropped out in November before there were
- 7:21Speaker 1: any primaries. That's the primary season. And so my point
- 7:24Speaker 1: is is that right now we're in the stage in
- 7:26Speaker 1: which most of the attention of the Democrats should be
- 7:29Speaker 1: around who their candidate is going to be. And various
- 7:33Speaker 1: Democrats get all goosebumpy over this one and that one,
- 7:36Speaker 1: and they starts signing up and saying that they don't
- 7:39Speaker 1: have anyone that they're excited about nothing. They have no
- 7:44Speaker 1: one to rally around. So therefore the only point of
- 7:47Speaker 1: emotion is to rage against Trump. They can't rage for anything.
- 7:57Speaker 1: They can't get themselves wrapped up in any cause, any issue,
- 8:01Speaker 1: so all they can do is rage against Trump. Look
- 8:06Speaker 1: at what you have right now, and I'm just going
- 8:08Speaker 1: to deal with events in the last few days. Look
- 8:11Speaker 1: at the prime leaders in the Democratic Party. Biden, presumpted
- 8:17Speaker 1: would presumably still be the leader of the party who
- 8:19Speaker 1: was their last president. Totally see now useless Kamala Harris.
- 8:26Speaker 1: You can't rally around her. Look what she did. She
- 8:30Speaker 1: was incoherent, babbling, possibly drunk, lightweight in over her head.
- 8:37Speaker 1: There is no desire on the part of any Democrats
- 8:40Speaker 1: anywhere to be led to anything by Kamala Harris. AOC
- 8:47Speaker 1: massive following great fundraiser. She decided this thing where she
- 8:51Speaker 1: went to that security conference of Greece. This was a
- 8:54Speaker 1: planned big deal. This was her coming out party as
- 8:58Speaker 1: a serious leader of the left, a serious leader of
- 9:01Speaker 1: the Democratic Party. She goes to a big shot, high
- 9:05Speaker 1: end thing in which we're dealing with foreign policy, an
- 9:09Speaker 1: issue that nobody ever associates with her. So she was prepped,
- 9:13Speaker 1: primed to go there, and the bar was certainly low.
- 9:19Speaker 1: All she had to do is put together a few
- 9:22Speaker 1: sentences that were understandable, and the media was going to say, Wow, AOC, shine,
- 9:27Speaker 1: this is AOC emerging. She showed that she's leaderlike and
- 9:32Speaker 1: every line and every issue that was out there was
- 9:34Speaker 1: no doubt prep for her. She gets thrown a question
- 9:41Speaker 1: on China and Taiwan. I'm telling you, I thought we
- 9:47Speaker 1: saw the bottom with Kamala Harris in babbling and just
- 9:50Speaker 1: throwing words together. Kamala sounded eloquent. Kamala was a Shakespearean
- 9:56Speaker 1: character compared to AOC's answer, I didn't bring any and
- 10:00Speaker 1: he oughtit to play because I think everybody's heard that.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I mean, I'm barely paying attention to anything. I'm down
- 10:06Speaker 1: there in Florida and non Florida right now, back to
- 10:09Speaker 1: Milwaukee for a few days to do things like well this,
- 10:14Speaker 1: but at the level of attention that I'm paying to
- 10:17Speaker 1: I mean, this thing just resonated everywhere. It was so
- 10:20Speaker 1: terrible that even Democrats are ripping it, wondering, well, why
- 10:24Speaker 1: would she go to this. Well, it's obvious why she
- 10:27Speaker 1: went to it. If she's ever going to be taken
- 10:29Speaker 1: seriously as a leader. She has to start doing things
- 10:33Speaker 1: like this. The question has been a question that's been
- 10:37Speaker 1: on the front burner in America for twenty to twenty
- 10:39Speaker 1: five years. What are we going to do if China
- 10:43Speaker 1: invades Paiwan? What should we do? And every politician that's
- 10:48Speaker 1: out there, and by the way, it's obviously a difficult question,
- 10:52Speaker 1: but every politician that's out there has an answer. She didn't.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Not only didn't have an answer, she could common will
- 11:01Speaker 1: at least throw in the random scattered word that relates
- 11:05Speaker 1: to the question. It was never linked. The first word
- 11:08Speaker 1: didn't have anything to do with the next. All I
- 11:10Speaker 1: got from AOC was um uh, well, um um um.
- 11:20Speaker 1: So you're a lefty? Really? Are you now enthused that
- 11:24Speaker 1: AOC is going to be your champion? They love to
- 11:29Speaker 1: claim that Trump is dumb. Trump has a command of
- 11:32Speaker 1: just about every issue that's out there. Jd Vance probably
- 11:36Speaker 1: even more so in terms of his eloquence on them.
- 11:40Speaker 1: AOC could not talk her way out of a paper
- 11:44Speaker 1: bag on that issue. So where's their enthusiasm? So now
- 11:49Speaker 1: let's go to the flip side of this. The ANTIAOC
- 11:53Speaker 1: of the Democratic Party, the smoothest politician they have. You
- 11:59Speaker 1: can't come anymore blowed, ride and well spoken than Gavin Newssom.
- 12:06Speaker 1: You're never gonna hear Gavin Newsom with an um or
- 12:09Speaker 1: an uh or a like. He in fact loves the
- 12:14Speaker 1: give and take. He's going out there doing a podcast.
- 12:17Speaker 1: He was jumping on some podcasts that were done by liberals.
- 12:19Speaker 1: He's inviting liberals in there because Gavin Newsom has confidence
- 12:23Speaker 1: in one thing and that is boy, oh boy, oh boy,
- 12:26Speaker 1: can I talk. I can sling the bs with the
- 12:30Speaker 1: best of them. What he has going against him is
- 12:35Speaker 1: the state that he runs is a total train wreck.
- 12:38Speaker 1: He's destroyed California. California is an absolute mess. Businesses are leaving,
- 12:44Speaker 1: taxes are high, the Great cities are a washing crime.
- 12:47Speaker 1: It's a hell. That's what he is going against him.
- 12:50Speaker 1: But when he has going for him is boy oh boy,
- 12:53Speaker 1: can he talk. And he looks the party. I mean,
- 12:56Speaker 1: the hair is never out of place, and he's in
- 13:00Speaker 1: with himself and he has overwhelmed with self confidence and
- 13:03Speaker 1: he can talk. So there's him. So over the weekend
- 13:07Speaker 1: he goes to Atlanta, nowhere near California. This is part
- 13:11Speaker 1: of the Gavin Newsom presidential campaign. He's interviewed by the
- 13:15Speaker 1: mayor of Atlanta, who's African American. Initially the reports were
- 13:19Speaker 1: that the crowd was predominantly black. It was apparently lots
- 13:24Speaker 1: of people. So who it was he was referring to.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Was he referring to black people? Well, he said it
- 13:29Speaker 1: to a black mayor who was the interviewer. I'm just
- 13:34Speaker 1: like you. I'm just like you. I'm a nine to
- 13:40Speaker 1: sixty SAT guy. By the way, when I was in
- 13:43Speaker 1: high school, we took the ACT, not the SAT. I
- 13:46Speaker 1: had to look up for first. When I first heard
- 13:48Speaker 1: that answer, I was trying to I couldn't remember what
- 13:50Speaker 1: the scale on the SAT was. Is he bragging about
- 13:53Speaker 1: how high he is or is this alone? Well, it's bad,
- 13:56Speaker 1: it's very low. And then he says he can't read.
- 14:02Speaker 1: He said, I can't read a speech. I'm just like you.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Is he saying to black people, I'm not very smart.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I only got a nine to sixty SAT. I'm dumb
- 14:16Speaker 1: like you. Is that what he was saying. Is he
- 14:18Speaker 1: saying this to the mayor? Or? Is he saying this
- 14:21Speaker 1: to America, Hey, America, you're all dumb. I'm dumb too.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I mean serious, I'm trying to figure out what the
- 14:29Speaker 1: intent of His point was when he says I'm just
- 14:32Speaker 1: like you and then comes up with I can't read
- 14:34Speaker 1: and I have bad SAT scores. He's been fried for this.
- 14:43Speaker 1: He doesn't even know how to respond, so he's trying
- 14:47Speaker 1: to do. What do you do when you're backed into
- 14:49Speaker 1: a corner and you've done something terribly and defensively, You
- 14:52Speaker 1: change the subject, And the subject, of course, is just Trump.
- 14:57Speaker 1: He fired back at Sean Hannity in a post online, saying, yeah, well,
- 15:01Speaker 1: your guy put out this racist video in which you know,
- 15:04Speaker 1: he's got the ape video on the whole thing, which
- 15:08Speaker 1: has of course nothing to do with what it was
- 15:10Speaker 1: that he said, without regarding there are a lot of
- 15:17Speaker 1: takes on that whole video. It appeared to be a
- 15:20Speaker 1: run on video to the next one that they didn't snip.
- 15:22Speaker 1: But whether Trump knew what he was posting or he
- 15:25Speaker 1: didn't know what he was posting is literally neither hearing
- 15:28Speaker 1: nor there, because my point here is that Democrats are
- 15:30Speaker 1: looking to their future, their candidate who it's going to be.
- 15:34Speaker 1: But that's all new Sin could come up with in
- 15:38Speaker 1: his response. He didn't want because he's so full of
- 15:41Speaker 1: himself and could never be self effacing, which actually is
- 15:44Speaker 1: a good political trade to be able to make fun
- 15:47Speaker 1: of yourself a little bit, which Trump always does. Trump
- 15:50Speaker 1: is so over the top that everybody knows that what
- 15:54Speaker 1: he's doing is with a wink and a nod. Newsom
- 15:58Speaker 1: can't do that. Newsom can't come back and say I
- 16:01Speaker 1: really butchered that. He can't do that. He can't come
- 16:06Speaker 1: back and say I wasn't referring to black people, because
- 16:08Speaker 1: then people would ask him, well, who then, who were
- 16:10Speaker 1: you referring to. So that's the Democrats. So if you're
- 16:17Speaker 1: like a rank and file Democrat that's out there right now,
- 16:23Speaker 1: which one of those people excites you, then there's all
- 16:26Speaker 1: the moderates. The governor of Virginia is going to give
- 16:29Speaker 1: the response to the State of the Union. They're passing
- 16:33Speaker 1: or off as a moderate. But these you know, these
- 16:35Speaker 1: people that are out in the street, shove it around,
- 16:37Speaker 1: ice officers and so on, they're not interested in any moderate.
- 16:42Speaker 1: You've got Shapiro of Pennsylvania, but sure of Kentucky that
- 16:45Speaker 1: I'm excited by them. The point that I'm making is
- 16:47Speaker 1: they're not excited or goosebumpy about any Democrat that's out there. None.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I go back to when I was younger, when you
- 16:55Speaker 1: know the party and power was in place and you're
- 16:57Speaker 1: looking for your own candidate. Every this would be about
- 17:00Speaker 1: the time that people would start rallying around, no matter
- 17:03Speaker 1: what the year was. Go back to the seventies, Jimmy
- 17:05Speaker 1: Carter mou'd all and all of that. Go back to
- 17:07Speaker 1: the eighties when you know Teddy Kennedy was running against
- 17:09Speaker 1: Jimmy Carter. They got nothing, So all they have is
- 17:13Speaker 1: their outlet is to attack Trump. So to attack Trump,
- 17:18Speaker 1: they have to attack what it is that he's doing.
- 17:21Speaker 1: And I'm just telling you that it's all pretend. The
- 17:24Speaker 1: Ice thing is all fake. Barack Obama was called the
- 17:30Speaker 1: deporter in chief. There were ice raids all the time
- 17:33Speaker 1: on my account on x formerly Nimouswitter, which you all
- 17:36Speaker 1: should follow because it's the only way to hear from me.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Right now, I've been posting much more there because I'm
- 17:41Speaker 1: on the hiatus. On the podcast, I posted this long
- 17:45Speaker 1: news story that CNN did during the Obama years in
- 17:49Speaker 1: which they did a ride along with ICE as they
- 17:51Speaker 1: were out there apprehending criminals, and it was all done
- 17:55Speaker 1: positively about what a great thing this was. It was
- 17:58Speaker 1: only ten years ago. So the very thing that Ice
- 18:02Speaker 1: is doing now was being done ten years ago and
- 18:04Speaker 1: no one was bothered by it at all. Because they're
- 18:07Speaker 1: not bothered by it. They are pretending to be bothered
- 18:10Speaker 1: by it because they need to have an outlet to
- 18:12Speaker 1: bash Trump. The tariffs without regard to your position on tariff's,
- 18:19Speaker 1: tariffs were more of a Democrat thing than a Republican
- 18:22Speaker 1: thing for the longest time. They're not outraged over this.
- 18:28Speaker 1: They are pretending to be outraged if Kamala won and
- 18:31Speaker 1: she slapped out a bunch of tariffs, or for that matter,
- 18:34Speaker 1: if AOC oh my god, I can't even say. If
- 18:37Speaker 1: AOC wins and becomes the president in twenty nine and
- 18:40Speaker 1: she does dips, they won't be bothered by it. They're
- 18:42Speaker 1: not against tariffs, it's pretend. And then Epstein. The Epstein
- 18:52Speaker 1: thing was covered up the entire eight years Obama was
- 18:55Speaker 1: president and no one paid any attention to it. During
- 18:59Speaker 1: the four years Biden, no one paid any attention to Epstein.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Now suddenly they decided that Trump is all tied into Epstein,
- 19:11Speaker 1: whether he is or is in. And I think the
- 19:14Speaker 1: only tie and you see between Trump and Epstein is
- 19:16Speaker 1: they were both hanging around Palm beat. Trump was never
- 19:18Speaker 1: at the island. Trump said bad things about Epstein. There
- 19:21Speaker 1: wasn't any of that. But they have to try to
- 19:23Speaker 1: pretend now that they are outraged over Epstein. When did
- 19:25Speaker 1: they become outraged over Epstein? When did they become out
- 19:29Speaker 1: Why aren't they outraged over Bill Clinton and the Clintons
- 19:32Speaker 1: and their connection Epstein. Why aren't they bothered by Reid
- 19:35Speaker 1: Hoff and they're big, huge super donor, the guy who
- 19:38Speaker 1: founded LinkedIn and his ties to Epstein. It's all fake.
- 19:44Speaker 1: They are looking for reasons to hate Trump, but they
- 19:47Speaker 1: don't have any actual reasons to hate Trump, and therefore
- 19:52Speaker 1: the reactions that they give you are these over the
- 19:54Speaker 1: top screaming When you look at all of these suburban women,
- 19:58Speaker 1: you know, ICE is now kind of and out of
- 20:00Speaker 1: Minneapolis with that operation. And let's be honest about this.
- 20:05Speaker 1: If ICE isn't going to get support from the local
- 20:08Speaker 1: police agencies, it's very hard to come in and do deportations.
- 20:11Speaker 1: And we can talk all we want about deporting all
- 20:14Speaker 1: of the illegal immigrants in this country, but when you
- 20:16Speaker 1: have an ICE team of eight people having to confront
- 20:19Speaker 1: five thousand people that are trying to obstruct them from
- 20:22Speaker 1: doing their duty, it becomes an impossibility. So if all
- 20:26Speaker 1: we do is remove all the illegal immigrants from the
- 20:29Speaker 1: Red states that are going to give local support to ICE,
- 20:32Speaker 1: let's accomplish that. The point that I make, though, is
- 20:35Speaker 1: when you see this hysterical reaction from so many of
- 20:39Speaker 1: these suburban women trying to stop the ICE, none of
- 20:43Speaker 1: that is real. These are people that are hateful, angry
- 20:48Speaker 1: people looking for an outlet to spew the venom that
- 20:50Speaker 1: is just shrilling around in on their insides. Because if
- 20:55Speaker 1: it was real, that outrage would have manifested itself at
- 20:59Speaker 1: some point when Barack Obama was throwing people out of
- 21:03Speaker 1: the country right and left. But it didn't. A couple
- 21:09Speaker 1: of other quick takes. Robin Boss is not running for reelection,
- 21:13Speaker 1: leaving a speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly. I'm not
- 21:16Speaker 1: even a newspaper column about that this week, which you
- 21:18Speaker 1: can find at gmtoday dot com. Sometimes it's behind a paywall,
- 21:22Speaker 1: sometimes it's not. It's not out yet as I'm doing
- 21:24Speaker 1: this podcast on a Tuesday, but it'll out after that.
- 21:28Speaker 1: It's hard to assess Robin Boss because, as many of
- 21:33Speaker 1: you who listen to the old radio show no, I
- 21:36Speaker 1: mean I occasionally battened Robin's head around like he was
- 21:40Speaker 1: a bobblehead doll. On the other hand, he's, without doubt,
- 21:45Speaker 1: along with Scott Walker, the most consequential Republican in the
- 21:48Speaker 1: state of Wisconsin in the last thirty years. The thing
- 21:51Speaker 1: about Robin is he was incredibly smart. I say it
- 21:56Speaker 1: was as if he's dead his tenure. He was very,
- 21:59Speaker 1: very smart. He was a master fundraiser. He had the
- 22:02Speaker 1: ability to get anything through the State Assembly he wanted passed,
- 22:06Speaker 1: and stop anything that he didn't want to get through
- 22:08Speaker 1: the state Assembly. The problem with all of that is
- 22:11Speaker 1: is that I think that it occasionally meant that he
- 22:15Speaker 1: was out of touch with a lot of Republican rank
- 22:20Speaker 1: and filers. My greatest summary of Robin Boss is he
- 22:23Speaker 1: was probably the most despised Republican in the state by
- 22:26Speaker 1: Democrats and by Republicans. And given the fact that speakers
- 22:30Speaker 1: tend to be unpopular among members of both parties legislative
- 22:34Speaker 1: leaders are, it's probably an indication on the overall he
- 22:37Speaker 1: did a very very good job the Olympics. I mean,
- 22:41Speaker 1: could they have been any better? One brief comment on
- 22:49Speaker 1: the explosion of patriotism in the wake of the Americans
- 22:54Speaker 1: winning the hockey gold medal, lefties are upset that President
- 23:01Speaker 1: Trump put in a call to the hockey team in
- 23:03Speaker 1: the locker room. This bothers them. Do you know how
- 23:08Speaker 1: long I've been watching presidents of the United States call Champion?
- 23:11Speaker 1: I mean the President used to call the Super Bowl?
- 23:13Speaker 1: At all this has been going I mean it may
- 23:15Speaker 1: have been. I think it's been going on since before Reagan.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I don't know that it has ever bothered anybody of
- 23:22Speaker 1: either political party at all, which, again, this tells me
- 23:24Speaker 1: that it's all fake. Now I think I'm doing this
- 23:27Speaker 1: the afternoon of the State of the Union. Is it true,
- 23:31Speaker 1: Paul or Jason that that the hockey team is going
- 23:33Speaker 1: to be at the State of the Union? The men's
- 23:37Speaker 1: will be, and the women's team declined the opportunity to
- 23:41Speaker 1: go there, and some people are criticizing them for that.
- 23:44Speaker 1: My whole point is if people want to go and
- 23:47Speaker 1: support the president, they can, but if they don't, that's
- 23:50Speaker 1: their prerogative too, and we shouldn't be hating on people
- 23:53Speaker 1: for either side. It's not like you have an obligation
- 23:56Speaker 1: to go. But it also doesn't mean that it isn't
- 23:58Speaker 1: a great thing that if you want to go. If
- 24:02Speaker 1: I was a great athlete in Barack Obama invited me
- 24:04Speaker 1: after I won some championship, I wouldn't have gone, and
- 24:06Speaker 1: I wouldn't have gone for Biden. And I recall some
- 24:09Speaker 1: people didn't go when those people were in place. That's
- 24:13Speaker 1: their right and it's no reason to hate on them
- 24:15Speaker 1: either way. But I'm telling you, I think far fewer
- 24:17Speaker 1: conservatives are mad at the women's team for not going,
- 24:20Speaker 1: then lefties are going to hate on the men's team
- 24:23Speaker 1: for going, which says a lot about them. All right,
- 24:27Speaker 1: podcast is going to be returning May First, some announcements.
- 24:30Speaker 1: To make big announcement, Every single one of my podcast
