- 0:30Speaker 3: I've got the Yeah, I got the Red Skull or
- 0:33Speaker 3: Red the Hulk.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Oh you got the cup.
- 0:37Speaker 4: And then I got the I got the Popcorntine.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Oh wow, you went all out.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I went all out.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. You must have been excited for the movie. Yeah, yeah,
- 0:47Speaker 1: I was. I was.
- 0:48Speaker 4: We had a good time.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Oh good, good. Yeah, Well that's our main topic later everyone,
- 0:54Speaker 1: we're gonna be talking about the new Captain America movie
- 0:56Speaker 1: and what we thought about it. So yeah, so I
- 1:02Speaker 1: saw you went with the whole family.
- 1:04Speaker 4: I did.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:05Speaker 4: It was me and my two sons and my son's
- 1:07Speaker 4: girlfriend and my wife and yeah we all had a
- 1:10Speaker 4: good time.
- 1:11Speaker 1: So wow, that's great.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Yeah, we've got a cheaper theater here that the show's
- 1:16Speaker 3: first run stuff.
- 1:17Speaker 4: So it's like, you know, four bucks a ticket.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Yeah, we had one of those two kind of place,
- 1:21Speaker 3: and they've got pretty inexpensive like you know, pop and popcorn.
- 1:25Speaker 3: I actually bought, like, I went up and I got
- 1:28Speaker 3: the sodas and stuff for the kids and for my
- 1:31Speaker 3: wife and uh, and then I saw these the popcorn
- 1:34Speaker 3: bucket here. I'm like, oh, yeah, give me one of
- 1:36Speaker 3: those and one of those and she's like really, I'm like, yeah,
- 1:39Speaker 3: why not. Well, when I looked at my bill, everybody's
- 1:42Speaker 3: stuff was twenty five dollars for the four of them,
- 1:45Speaker 3: and my stuff was twenty five dollars just for me. Yeah,
- 1:50Speaker 3: it turns out the popcorn bucket was ten dollars. Oh wow,
- 1:54Speaker 3: this Mamma Jama was fifteen what yeah, but I figured
- 1:59Speaker 3: out what.
- 1:59Speaker 1: That yeah yeah yeah, later on, yeah, there you go,
- 2:04Speaker 1: there you go. So yeah, I went, I have the
- 2:08Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys have Regal in your area,
- 2:10Speaker 1: but we have Regel in Okay. And so it's like
- 2:13Speaker 1: twenty five bucks a month and you can go anytime
- 2:15Speaker 1: you want. So, like I paid for the movie, but
- 2:17Speaker 1: not really you know. Yeah yeah, and then uh, with that,
- 2:21Speaker 1: I also earned points, so I had a free popcorn.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Oh okay, yeah, yeah, so that it all worked out.
- 2:28Speaker 1: But I looked at the popcorn bucket because they had
- 2:31Speaker 1: the the tin with the Captain America shield as logo
- 2:35Speaker 1: as the lid cover right, and I was like, oh,
- 2:38Speaker 1: that's kind of neat. I could I could go for that,
- 2:40Speaker 1: and the fact that it was a tin so it
- 2:42Speaker 1: seemed more useful than trying to put popcorn in the
- 2:45Speaker 1: back of like a red hole, you know, right, So
- 2:48Speaker 1: I was like maybe, but they wanted I think they
- 2:51Speaker 1: said it was twenty five dollars for the tin.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, I collect those kinds of things.
- 2:59Speaker 3: I've got like ghostbus stuff and bolverine stuff, you know, and.
- 3:02Speaker 4: If it's reasonable.
- 3:04Speaker 3: And I was kind of in a hurry yesterday, I
- 3:06Speaker 3: just like, yay, I give me that in that but
- 3:09Speaker 3: you know, I think it'll make it cool, Like right
- 3:11Speaker 3: now we have it above the kitchen cabinets. I got
- 3:14Speaker 3: a little display display shop above the kitchen cabinets.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I think it was good. That's cool.
- 3:20Speaker 4: I'll bring one down for actually eat popcorn.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Out of there. You go, there, you go nice. But
- 3:26Speaker 1: I can't.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Imagine going to one of the regular like we've got
- 3:28Speaker 3: a a celebration cinema. It's the local movie theater that
- 3:32Speaker 3: has and it's about fifteen twenty minutes away the dinner
- 3:35Speaker 3: we went to yesterday's about a half hour drive.
- 3:37Speaker 4: But I think it's worth it because the tickets are
- 3:38Speaker 4: only four bucks.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Apeak right right, Yeah.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I can't imagine going as a family of four or
- 3:43Speaker 3: five or six and paying like full price, you know,
- 3:48Speaker 3: twelve fifteen dollars a ticket plus yeah, you know, fifteen
- 3:52Speaker 3: dollars for popcorn for each person. I mean, I wow,
- 3:56Speaker 3: I can't even imagine.
- 3:57Speaker 1: When the Mario movie came out. I took my sister's family,
- 4:01Speaker 1: I'll get it, let's go, you know, and there's five
- 4:04Speaker 1: of them, three kids and two adults. Good lord, I
- 4:08Speaker 1: mean fifteen bucks each. Yeah, well, yeah, it ended up quick.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Like you know.
- 4:14Speaker 3: In the next twelve months, I plan on seeing one
- 4:17Speaker 3: movie at the Celebration Cinema and one movie only, and
- 4:21Speaker 3: that's gonna be Superman.
- 4:23Speaker 4: I'm gonna see that.
- 4:24Speaker 3: It's also the local theater has the IMAX, so I
- 4:27Speaker 3: will spend the money, you know. Yeah, Jasmin says, it
- 4:31Speaker 3: does get expensive. I mean that family five or six,
- 4:34Speaker 3: it can be well over one hundred dollars.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, for sure, it's it's it's nuts. But
- 4:40Speaker 1: and then over here it was snowing, so the theater
- 4:44Speaker 1: was pretty empty. Okay, yeah, so that was kind of
- 4:48Speaker 1: nice too.
- 4:50Speaker 4: See the one. We went to it at the eighty
- 4:53Speaker 4: nine Cinema on m eighty nine.
- 4:55Speaker 3: It's uh, I paid five bucks to order the tickets
- 4:59Speaker 3: ahead of time, so I can actually choose my seats.
- 5:02Speaker 3: That's another nice thing we got. We actually sat down
- 5:06Speaker 3: just as the last.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Preview was empty. Oh okay, so and the seats were
- 5:11Speaker 4: already there ready for Do you see.
- 5:13Speaker 1: That there's a I think it's a congressman who wants
- 5:15Speaker 1: to put in a bill where they would the movie
- 5:17Speaker 1: theaters would have to say when the movie actually starts.
- 5:20Speaker 4: I read about that.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Yeah, that, which I don't really it doesn't really matter
- 5:24Speaker 3: to me. I like previews, you know, I'll get there
- 5:26Speaker 3: early in time for previews. I don't like commercials.
- 5:30Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, I I could see the advantage of
- 5:34Speaker 1: knowing exactly when, because it's not like beforeward trailers. The
- 5:38Speaker 1: only way you could see them was the movie theater.
- 5:41Speaker 1: All on YouTube too, so it's right. Yeah, it's like
- 5:44Speaker 1: they the.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Sail end of a trailer and I'm like, I don't
- 5:47Speaker 3: remember what it was, but I'm like, I've already seen
- 5:48Speaker 3: this online.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Oh man. I went with my buddy and the Superman
- 5:53Speaker 1: trailer played, and he he hadn't seen it yet, so
- 5:58Speaker 1: he was like, oh, this looks good and go that
- 6:00Speaker 1: dog is gonna die.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Oh no, all I swear to I swear if that
- 6:06Speaker 3: dog dies.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Studio is going to burn to the ground. Yeah, not
- 6:14Speaker 4: by me, not by me.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I'm like there, I'm like they're setting it up. Man.
- 6:19Speaker 1: He's like, oh, but I like the dog. I'm like, no, man,
- 6:21Speaker 1: you saw Guardians of Dogs like three, you saw a
- 6:23Speaker 1: record Raccoon and his Animal Friends. Crypto is no, it's
- 6:27Speaker 1: not gonna last. Oh no, yeah, calling it now, okay,
- 6:33Speaker 1: Like lex, this is gonna be like, hey, let's go
- 6:35Speaker 1: fetch this uh Kryptonite rod Crypto.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Right right, he's got a sack or something.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 6:42Speaker 4: He's gonna have that whimper.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Then he's gonna die, and everybody in the theaters is
- 6:45Speaker 3: gonna be like pouring tears out of their face.
- 6:50Speaker 1: It's gonna be That'll be some brands justification to go nuts.
- 6:55Speaker 3: And then Keanu Reeves is gonna go I've got an
- 6:57Speaker 3: idea for a sequel exactly.
- 7:00Speaker 1: John Wicks Superman Yeah awesome. Well we should probably get
- 7:06Speaker 1: to the news. We got quite a bit of news
- 7:08Speaker 1: stories so here we go Star Trek News. All right,
- 7:14Speaker 1: so our first new story comes to us from let's
- 7:18Speaker 1: see what is this? What was the name of this, say, oh,
- 7:22Speaker 1: star Trek dot Com. Yeah, so it was announced earlier
- 7:25Speaker 1: this week that Master Replicas is going to be releasing
- 7:29Speaker 1: a new line of Star Trek action figures. So here's
- 7:32Speaker 1: a look at the figures right there. We're gonna have
- 7:35Speaker 1: quite a few. Here's the first lineup. These should be
- 7:39Speaker 1: released sometime this summer. What's kind of neat. I know,
- 7:43Speaker 1: we did the story earlier this year or last year
- 7:46Speaker 1: about the nas Cell company is going to do some right.
- 7:49Speaker 1: The difference is the na Cell ones are going to
- 7:50Speaker 1: be about six inches. These are about four and a half.
- 7:55Speaker 4: So that's closer to what that is, closer.
- 8:00Speaker 1: To the original playmates. Okay, the playmates though, were four
- 8:05Speaker 1: and three quarters. So these are four and a half,
- 8:09Speaker 1: so just slightly smaller.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Okay, so everybody had a transporter accident and they got
- 8:14Speaker 3: a little bit shorter.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly exactly. And it looks like within the
- 8:19Speaker 1: line they're kind of to scale, so like Wharf looks
- 8:22Speaker 1: bigger than Picard, you know, right.
- 8:25Speaker 4: I really like the lower dex ones yeah.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I like the lower deck ones too. I I don't
- 8:31Speaker 1: know if I love them though, they have that weird
- 8:33Speaker 1: quality to them. They look like I mean, I'm just
- 8:37Speaker 1: gonna say they look like inflatable dolls, you know what
- 8:42Speaker 1: I mean? They had that quality though.
- 8:48Speaker 4: No, I'm laughing because I'm just thinking, Oh, I wish
- 8:50Speaker 4: Dan were here.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure there's a Dan inflatable Tindi joke in
- 8:56Speaker 3: there somewhere.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I'm sure, I'm sure. But yeah, yeah, especial is that Tindy.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Look at that?
- 9:03Speaker 1: That's you can see it, you know.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it's got to be hard, like you know, I
- 9:11Speaker 3: it's got to be hard as far as the scale goes,
- 9:13Speaker 3: and you know, it's it's really hard.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Right now, we've got just a product, like a photo
- 9:19Speaker 4: shoot version of it. We don't exactly know what the
- 9:21Speaker 4: actual models are going to look like, but.
- 9:23Speaker 3: They've gotten better over the years of getting photo realistic
- 9:25Speaker 3: with the face and yeah that kind of thing. So yeah,
- 9:30Speaker 3: those are those look decent. But yeah, I see what
- 9:33Speaker 3: you're saying about the you know, blow up doll, inflatable
- 9:39Speaker 3: doll kind of thing.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, But but the upper card and the
- 9:44Speaker 1: spot are already for pre order on Master Replica's website.
- 9:48Speaker 1: They're about twenty four ninety nine I think is what
- 9:50Speaker 1: I saw. Yeah, my bucks, which is right in line
- 9:54Speaker 1: with in a cell said they wanted to do too.
- 9:56Speaker 1: The cell said they wanted to hit theirs around under thirty.
- 10:00Speaker 4: So I'd be interested in the Wharf and Riker one.
- 10:03Speaker 3: And I think it would be funny if they included
- 10:07Speaker 3: that new sword that he's got. Yeah, I think it'd
- 10:10Speaker 3: be funny if they actually made that out of like
- 10:12Speaker 3: some court of sort of like heavy alloy, like made
- 10:15Speaker 3: it out of steel so it was actually heavy compared
- 10:18Speaker 3: to the rest of the figure.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that'd be kind of cool. I had no
- 10:22Speaker 1: idea'd be this heavy, right. They did say that they're
- 10:25Speaker 1: going to start releasing figures this or this spring or
- 10:29Speaker 1: summer I'm sorry, this summer, and then new figures every
- 10:31Speaker 1: month after that, So okay, I think I think with
- 10:35Speaker 1: the Picard and and uh Spock being available now, I
- 10:39Speaker 1: can for pre order. I'm guessing those are the first two,
- 10:41Speaker 1: and then these other ones will come out each month
- 10:43Speaker 1: after that.
- 10:44Speaker 4: So yeah, yeah, I wouldn't mind.
- 10:47Speaker 3: I mean, it's not something I would go out and
- 10:50Speaker 3: to my local retail store and purchase myself. But you know,
- 10:54Speaker 3: I might get drop a couple of hints for a
- 10:56Speaker 3: birthday present or Christmas.
- 10:57Speaker 1: There you go, Yeah, exact exactly. Who and who would
- 11:02Speaker 1: you like to see in the line that we don't
- 11:04Speaker 1: have yet?
- 11:05Speaker 4: That we don't have yet data.
- 11:12Speaker 3: Version of data, well the old you know, the card
- 11:15Speaker 3: version of data, the the you know, season three Picard
- 11:20Speaker 3: end of end of the season data.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I'd like to see Rutherford, Oh yeah, that'd be cool.
- 11:27Speaker 4: I'd like to see uh.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Pike, oh yeah, and Nurse Chapel, all of them, you know,
- 11:36Speaker 3: I fly the ship.
- 11:37Speaker 4: I'd like to see them all.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I think I would want I want some of the
- 11:44Speaker 1: weird outfits. I want, like when Strange New Worlds went
- 11:47Speaker 1: to that Renaissance world and they all had they all
- 11:51Speaker 1: had the like medieval outfits. Do that, you know?
- 11:53Speaker 3: Yeah, you know I think I just for the sake
- 11:59Speaker 3: of Dan, I think I like a Michael Burnham.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Oh for sure, you know.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Actually, you know, Siru would be kind of cool looking cool.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Jasmine wants to con.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Yep, yeah, yeah, a Strange New World's Kirk.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Maybe, Oh Lady Con, yes.
- 12:20Speaker 4: Lady, oh, the Lady con lol.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Isn't it? Is that her name? Yes? Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay,
- 12:30Speaker 1: yeah yeah, she'ld be cool.
- 12:33Speaker 3: They've been so long since Strange New World was out,
- 12:35Speaker 3: I'm like I need to rewatch it.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Maybe those little weird robots they introduced in Discovery for
- 12:40Speaker 1: one season, the robot Helpers, and then they they made
- 12:44Speaker 1: him go away.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Oh like R two D two or the robots from
- 12:49Speaker 4: the Fortress of Solitude.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, they're little fixer robots. Yeah yeah, because.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Those would have been real convenient during next jen especially.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Any any any point in time. They would have been
- 13:02Speaker 1: great any.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Point time, yeah, any space battle or any damage from
- 13:07Speaker 3: any Singularity yeah space, those things would have been awesome.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Jazz was the dots, yes, yeah, like when they
- 13:17Speaker 1: released all the drones out of the Enterprise to help
- 13:19Speaker 1: fight right yeah yeah yeah yeah.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Whenever I saw that, I just kept thinking about Star
- 13:26Speaker 3: Wars episode one, when they when the Nubian ship released
- 13:30Speaker 3: all those R two units to fix the outside of
- 13:32Speaker 3: the ship.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a card. You can see him with his jacket,
- 13:40Speaker 1: so yeah, I think they look good.
- 13:42Speaker 4: I wouldn't mind that jacket. Like a real life version
- 13:45Speaker 4: of that jacket.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I think you can buy it.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I've seen that too.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yeah, but oh, Kevin says, all the project characters would
- 13:54Speaker 1: be nice as well. I thought there was a line
- 13:56Speaker 1: that made them.
- 13:58Speaker 4: It seemed like there would be. It seems like Nickelodeon
- 14:01Speaker 4: would have came out with a thought.
- 14:03Speaker 1: But yeah, I imagine they'll get to them. I mean
- 14:05Speaker 1: that's the goal, right, the win to sell as many
- 14:07Speaker 1: these things as possible. So right, yeah, yeah, all right,
- 14:11Speaker 1: Well let's get to our next news story. So our
- 14:15Speaker 1: next news story comes to us from trekmovie dot com.
- 14:20Speaker 1: And for those of you wondering, the first season of
- 14:24Speaker 1: Star Trek, Starfleet Academy has wrapped production. So that means
- 14:28Speaker 1: they're done shooting and now it's all editing and putting
- 14:31Speaker 1: it together and special effects and all that stuff.
- 14:34Speaker 4: Oh, as Dan would say.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Right, that's right, it is real. The finished wrapping earlier
- 14:41Speaker 1: this week, so that's pretty cool. They it's not leading
- 14:47Speaker 1: up the picture, but they they took a bunch of
- 14:50Speaker 1: the cast got together and took a photo outside of
- 14:52Speaker 1: the studio and they all excited to be done shooting.
- 14:56Speaker 1: You know, but this is just season one. We're gonna
- 14:58Speaker 1: get a season two already that that has been announced.
- 15:02Speaker 4: So that's a bold statement.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Well it means they spent a lot of money on
- 15:06Speaker 1: those sets and they might as well get the most
- 15:08Speaker 1: out of it. Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 15:11Speaker 3: But see, the I think the sweet spot for a
- 15:13Speaker 3: season two announcement is like after episode three or four
- 15:18Speaker 3: is aired and they've gotten back some of the you know,
- 15:21Speaker 3: the Nielsen ratings and things like that.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Right, let's get excited for something we never wanted. Yay, yay, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 15:31Speaker 1: no kidding right. Oh so yeah, so that's wrapped and
- 15:35Speaker 1: uh and then our last news story just because I
- 15:39Speaker 1: kind of wanted an excuse to play this, Yeah I
- 15:47Speaker 1: had to. So our last news story comes to us
- 15:49Speaker 1: from Deadline, and we're getting some updates on the merger
- 15:52Speaker 1: between sky Dance and Paramounts, and it has officially played
- 15:57Speaker 1: through some regulators, so it's slowly inching its way. The
- 16:02Speaker 1: glacier is slowly moving. It has gone through the s
- 16:07Speaker 1: e C Securities and Exchange Commission and the EU Equivalents,
- 16:12Speaker 1: so they have given the the green light to merge.
- 16:17Speaker 1: The other thing remaining right now is the FCC Federal
- 16:21Speaker 1: Trade Communications so that could be a little bit of
- 16:25Speaker 1: a sticky wicket. We don't know. This is why they
- 16:27Speaker 1: settled the lawsuit with Trump, hoping to disagrease those wheels. Yeah. Yeah,
- 16:36Speaker 1: so we will see what happens, I guess. So that's
- 16:42Speaker 1: that's where we're at with that. So stand stand by.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Maybe by the end of the year we'll have new
- 16:47Speaker 1: owners of Paramount and we'll figure out what's gonna happen
- 16:50Speaker 1: to Star Trek after that. But yeah, that's where're at
- 16:56Speaker 1: with that one.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Skydance seems to be. It seems to have stuck around longest.
- 17:01Speaker 3: I mean, it seems to me that we've been talking
- 17:03Speaker 3: about sky Dance for a while ago.
- 17:05Speaker 1: I mean, they really want it, so yeah, they really
- 17:10Speaker 1: want to buy it.
- 17:11Speaker 3: So okay, yeah, we've we've talked about this till we
- 17:17Speaker 3: were blue in the face.
- 17:18Speaker 1: You know.
- 17:18Speaker 4: I just hope, and I think everybody listening just hopes that.
- 17:21Speaker 3: This merger is going to be good news for Trek,
- 17:24Speaker 3: that the the powers to be that these people whoever
- 17:27Speaker 3: ends up in charge of Paramount, you know, whether that's
- 17:30Speaker 3: the current Prayer Amount president or the current sky Dance
- 17:33Speaker 3: president or how all that works, that they'll see the.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Value in this franchise. And there's a ton of value
- 17:40Speaker 4: in this franchise.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Oh for sure.
- 17:42Speaker 4: And it's even more potential, yes, franchise.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Yeah, this franchise started in the sixties and you know,
- 17:49Speaker 3: as has been going strong, whether it's current or in
- 17:52Speaker 3: syndication since then.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Right, And if they can just.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Realize, you know, what a universally loved thing they've got,
- 18:00Speaker 3: and not screw it up, give it to the right people,
- 18:03Speaker 3: you know, get rid of Kurtzman and hold on to
- 18:07Speaker 3: freak some Metallis as long as they can.
- 18:11Speaker 5: You know.
- 18:11Speaker 1: It's funny, is I saw a clip with Alice Kurtzman
- 18:14Speaker 1: earlier this week and it was just some like filmmaker
- 18:18Speaker 1: website or film news website, and they were interviewing him
- 18:22Speaker 1: about the Section thirty one film and they were legitimately
- 18:25Speaker 1: asking him like, you have an Oscar winner in this thing?
- 18:28Speaker 1: Why wasn't this released in theaters?
- 18:32Speaker 4: You know?
- 18:33Speaker 1: And you can see him kind of like, oh, I
- 18:35Speaker 1: don't I don't know how to answer this, yeah, and
- 18:38Speaker 1: he just goes, well, it was originally, you know, designed
- 18:40Speaker 1: to be a TV show. So so that's that's the
- 18:44Speaker 1: lane I stick in, and I don't make those decisions
- 18:47Speaker 1: that it should be in theaters.
- 18:48Speaker 4: So yeah, he didn't mention the fact that it was dog.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Shit, But right right, I get it, I get it.
- 18:56Speaker 3: You gotta promote your stuff, and you gotta you know,
- 18:58Speaker 3: pairamount all the ads I've been seeing or you know,
- 19:01Speaker 3: check out the greatest film ever. And I understand that,
- 19:05Speaker 3: but boy, you know, learn your lesson. That's the lesson
- 19:09Speaker 3: we learned here today is to learn your lesson.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, And there's articles now coming out too
- 19:14Speaker 1: about like how there's even more pressure now on Strange
- 19:17Speaker 1: New World season three because.
- 19:20Speaker 3: They're looking at Strange New World because nobody's looking at
- 19:22Speaker 3: at Academy right now, because Academy is not really anything.
- 19:26Speaker 4: They don't know anything about it, right.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Strange New Worlds is sort of the flagship series now
- 19:32Speaker 3: and and and there's there's a lot of weight on
- 19:35Speaker 3: the shoulders because it's looking as the thing that's going
- 19:38Speaker 3: to save Star.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Trek, right right. But the weird thing is we don't
- 19:43Speaker 1: even know when season three is coming. We know at
- 19:46Speaker 1: some point this year.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and if they had wrapped and everything was good,
- 19:51Speaker 3: I think we would have heard an announcement about the
- 19:53Speaker 3: release date.
- 19:55Speaker 1: I I keep so I was thinking about this last
- 19:58Speaker 1: night because I'm like, why have they not announced it? Right?
- 20:00Speaker 1: The only thing I could think of is one of
- 20:01Speaker 1: two things. One, they're retooling it based off the feedback
- 20:05Speaker 1: they got from Section thirty one, and they need to
- 20:08Speaker 1: they need to figure something out right. Two it is
- 20:13Speaker 1: they plan to release it like in the fall, and
- 20:16Speaker 1: they don't want to say, hey, coming in the fall
- 20:19Speaker 1: and have all these people just drop out of the
- 20:20Speaker 1: Paramount plus right all that.
- 20:23Speaker 4: Yeah, that could be.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Yeah, so because they released the movie early and then
- 20:28Speaker 1: you've got months of just nothing right because there's no
- 20:32Speaker 1: lower decks, there's no there's no Prodigy, there's no Discovery.
- 20:37Speaker 1: So yeah, so they don't want to just say, yeah,
- 20:39Speaker 1: resign up in the fall. Guys.
- 20:41Speaker 3: You know see I was thinking about it too, and
- 20:43Speaker 3: I thought, well, maybe you know, because they already filmed everything,
- 20:47Speaker 3: and I'm thinking, well, maybe they're getting notes about season
- 20:50Speaker 3: two like right now, and some showwriters getting this note going, oh,
- 20:55Speaker 3: they liked the musical episode, but never do it again. Crap,
- 21:00Speaker 3: hey we need to scrap episodes five, six, and seven.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Guys. Well, I don't think they listened to a lot
- 21:07Speaker 1: of feedback, So no, that doesn't.
- 21:09Speaker 4: Seem to be one of their strong suits.
- 21:11Speaker 1: No, no, no, yeah, yeah.
- 21:15Speaker 4: Watch our show. We've got a ton of it for you.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Yeah exactly. Yeah. Yeah.
- 21:20Speaker 4: We've even got a section called listener feedback.
- 21:23Speaker 1: We do, we do. Yes, you can take.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Our model, you can use it for free.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Yeah. We're kind of working on something too that might
- 21:29Speaker 1: help them with that too. So oh boy, yeah all right,
- 21:34Speaker 1: Well let's get to our main topic. Uh do it?
- 21:37Speaker 1: All right? Oh, I guess it's a supplemental so I
- 21:40Speaker 1: guess I should say supplemental spotlight. So here we go.
- 21:50Speaker 1: All right, So we are talking Captain America Brave New World.
- 21:56Speaker 1: It was just released in theaters earlier this week.
- 22:01Speaker 4: I've got a tag line if you want it for it.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Sam Wilson, the new Captain America finds himself in the middle.
- 22:11Speaker 4: What's that?
- 22:12Speaker 1: Oh no, sorry, go ahead, Oh yeah, okay. Uh.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Sam Wilson, the new Captain America finds himself in the
- 22:18Speaker 3: middle of an international incident and must discover the motive
- 22:22Speaker 3: behind a nefarious global plan.
- 22:26Speaker 1: That sounds about right.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I'll take yeah.
- 22:31Speaker 3: So yeah, this takes place that's after Captain America in
- 22:36Speaker 3: the Winter or yeah, Captain America the Winter Soldier am
- 22:40Speaker 3: I saying that, No, yeah, Captain the Winter Soldier, Falcon
- 22:42Speaker 3: in the Winter Soldier, Falcon in the Winter Soldier.
- 22:45Speaker 1: You know, I pulled up the Rotten Tomato scores just
- 22:47Speaker 1: to let people know. Critically it's about fifty one percent,
- 22:50Speaker 1: but the audience scores about eighty percent. That that sounds
- 22:55Speaker 1: about right to me. Yep. There are definitely some giant
- 22:58Speaker 1: plot holes through it that that are just right there.
- 23:03Speaker 1: But it's fun. It's not it's not amazing, but.
- 23:07Speaker 4: No, I I ranked it.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Uh.
- 23:10Speaker 4: It's definitely not.
- 23:11Speaker 3: As good as uh, Winter Soldier or even Civil War,
- 23:17Speaker 3: but I think it's better than some of the you know, eternals.
- 23:21Speaker 3: And you know, I didn't like both Black I didn't
- 23:24Speaker 3: like the sequel to Black Panther.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Okay, I seem to around like a shne Chi level.
- 23:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd say so. It was enjoyable to watch.
- 23:34Speaker 3: I'm not sure if I'll rewatch it a ton. I'll
- 23:37Speaker 3: probably watch it at least one more time.
- 23:38Speaker 1: But yeah, good action. I thought it was.
- 23:41Speaker 3: It was a more it was a simpler plot than
- 23:45Speaker 3: some of the previous movies. I I I was not
- 23:51Speaker 3: surprised by some by a lot of the cameos. I
- 23:54Speaker 3: was surprised by one cameo and we should probably say,
- 23:57Speaker 3: right now spoilers. So we are going to be spoiling
- 24:00Speaker 3: the crap out of Captain America.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Yeah, so have you haven't seen it? Yeah?
- 24:05Speaker 3: Yeah, you'll just have to see our pretty faces later.
- 24:08Speaker 3: So go watch in the theater and come back and
- 24:10Speaker 3: listen to this.
- 24:11Speaker 1: I mean to me, this was Captain America. Let's tie
- 24:14Speaker 1: up loose ends. So yeah, perfect, yeah, because there was
- 24:19Speaker 1: a ton of them, right, perfect.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Yeah, So let's let's delve into some of the things.
- 24:26Speaker 3: The first thing I wanted to talk about was what
- 24:28Speaker 3: did you think about Harrison Ford as Thatti's Ross.
- 24:32Speaker 1: I thought he was great for the role, right because, uh,
- 24:35Speaker 1: because the original actor, William Hurt I believe, Yeah, he
- 24:39Speaker 1: passed away, so they had to recast, and so they
- 24:42Speaker 1: went with Harrison Ford. Apparently Harrison Ford went to Marvel
- 24:45Speaker 1: and was like, I want to be in one of
- 24:46Speaker 1: these movies.
- 24:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Yeah, so he says it looks like fun and I
- 24:50Speaker 1: just want to do one.
- 24:51Speaker 4: So when I when I first heard about his casting,
- 24:54Speaker 4: the first thing I thought was, now he's number one.
- 24:56Speaker 3: He's too old and he's too recognizable, right, you know,
- 25:00Speaker 3: there's no way because Paris and Ford is eighty years old,
- 25:03Speaker 3: right right.
- 25:04Speaker 4: You know that's that's by some standards.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Goal.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Yes, and I didn't think.
- 25:10Speaker 4: He was going to have the when.
- 25:13Speaker 1: They got him shirtless in that one scene, he looked
- 25:16Speaker 1: like an eighty year old man.
- 25:17Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah he did. But again, give a pass. He's eighty.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's Indiana Jones.
- 25:23Speaker 4: It's fine.
- 25:24Speaker 3: But I thought he brought just enough energy to make
- 25:28Speaker 3: it plausible that he could beat Thaddeus Ross. Yeah, you know,
- 25:33Speaker 3: the fact that he'd been promoting, you know, that he
- 25:34Speaker 3: had been elected president and he's no longer a general.
- 25:38Speaker 3: I thought that the choice of Harrison Ford was you know,
- 25:42Speaker 3: he's played a president before, and I thought he brought
- 25:46Speaker 3: that sort of regalness to it.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:50Speaker 4: And uh yeah, I I I liked his character in
- 25:53Speaker 4: this in this film.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I liked him too. I think you know, I
- 25:59Speaker 1: wanted him to yell, get off my plane, you know,
- 26:03Speaker 1: because this is the second time he's played the president. Yeah,
- 26:07Speaker 1: but uh, I thought he he did good for the
- 26:10Speaker 1: scenes he was in. He he seemed intense when he
- 26:13Speaker 1: needed to be, when it was time for him to
- 26:16Speaker 1: hulk out, because that's no real spoiler. It's in the trailers.
- 26:19Speaker 1: He's the Red Hulk. He committed to it. Man, he
- 26:23Speaker 1: bawled himself up. He looked angry, like he he did
- 26:28Speaker 1: his part to be the Hulk, right, Yes, agreed? Yeah, yeah,
- 26:34Speaker 1: who else do we have? I mean, this is basically
- 26:36Speaker 1: a sequel to like The Incredible Hulk the Moon with
- 26:39Speaker 1: Edward Norton.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Because it's a lot of that, so much so that
- 26:42Speaker 3: I wished I had watched it again before.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I had heard to watch it, but like
- 26:48Speaker 1: I felt like I remembered enough of it that I
- 26:50Speaker 1: didn't need to.
- 26:52Speaker 3: But it was definitely there were a ton of incredible
- 26:54Speaker 3: haulk We're talking about the two thousand and eight Incredible Hawk.
- 26:57Speaker 3: This is just after Iron Man, yeah, the second Marvel movie.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Yeah. So yeah, yeah, it was surprising to have that
- 27:09Speaker 1: much and not have the Hulk actually show up.
- 27:12Speaker 3: I was a little disappointed that Bruce Banner didn't make
- 27:15Speaker 3: an appearance. Yeah, but you know, there was some There
- 27:20Speaker 3: was some interesting cameos.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Do you want to talk about some of the cameos?
- 27:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, sure, Like we said, it's spoilers, so yeah, okay,
- 27:28Speaker 1: Well the.
- 27:29Speaker 4: Doctor, I have to look up his name but the
- 27:33Speaker 4: doctor from the first Samuel Stearns.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Yes, doctor Samuel Sterns. He makes an appearance, not just
- 27:40Speaker 3: an apparent, I mean he shows up.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Yeah, he is definitely a bad guy.
- 27:44Speaker 3: I don't know the comic books enough to know if
- 27:47Speaker 3: he is like somebody important from the comics or.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Yeah, he's the Leader okay in the comics. Uh, the
- 27:55Speaker 1: Leader is well, he doesn't look like the way he
- 27:59Speaker 1: looks like in the in the movie, right than just
- 28:02Speaker 1: green skin. But here I'm pulling up pictures of the
- 28:05Speaker 1: Leader right now, that's in the comics.
- 28:09Speaker 4: Yeah, played by the same actor played him in The
- 28:11Speaker 4: Incredible Hawk.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Yep.
- 28:15Speaker 3: And uh oh and Sidewinder I can, yeah his name.
- 28:21Speaker 1: But gian Carlos Posito.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Yes, he was like like he isn't everything absolutely amazing
- 28:29Speaker 3: and terrifying.
- 28:31Speaker 4: Really really liked him. I like this uh this actress,
- 28:35Speaker 4: uh Shira.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Has oh yeah.
- 28:39Speaker 4: Who played.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I really really liked her. I mean we both
- 28:45Speaker 3: my wife and I just thought she was just the
- 28:46Speaker 3: cutest little war ender.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Little yeah.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Yeah, because she's tiny, yeah, and she she's yeah, she's
- 28:57Speaker 3: a black widow.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Yeah. So we thought some of these names are now
- 29:02Speaker 1: just titles, right, Yeah, A black widow, not the black widow.
- 29:07Speaker 4: Well right, a black widow, not the black widow.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Carl Lumby a Lumblee as Isaiah the uh yeah.
- 29:16Speaker 4: For the now.
- 29:17Speaker 3: He showed up in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier
- 29:20Speaker 3: as a former like.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Vietnam era Captain America.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Captain America kind of yeah, because he was.
- 29:28Speaker 1: A forgotten Captain America's what they.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Said, right, And his backstory was, you know, he did
- 29:31Speaker 3: all this work for his countries, kind of like a
- 29:33Speaker 3: Rambow situation. And once he has done you know, kicking
- 29:37Speaker 3: ass as as a Captain America type. Uh, they basically
- 29:40Speaker 3: imprisoned him and experimented on him. And you know, so
- 29:45Speaker 3: there was some sort of like racial undertones because he's
- 29:49Speaker 3: black and the new Captain America black and they sort
- 29:51Speaker 3: of played on them a little bit, and they really
- 29:52Speaker 3: played on that in the TV.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Show a lot.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Yes, so, but it was it was cool to see
- 29:59Speaker 4: him there.
- 30:00Speaker 1: That character, Yeah, that character in particular, Man, that guy
- 30:05Speaker 1: is so convincing in his scenes, like he you feel
- 30:10Speaker 1: like he really went through this stuff, you know, yeah,
- 30:13Speaker 1: like the sadness he has in his eyes when he
- 30:16Speaker 1: talks about it, Like, man, I'm like, did they really
- 30:19Speaker 1: put you in prison for thirty years, man.
- 30:22Speaker 4: Yeah, must be a method actor. I really liked.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Uh.
- 30:28Speaker 3: I I thought for sure that Joaquin was gonna die.
- 30:32Speaker 4: That would be uh, that would be Captain America's new sidekick.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Yeah, new Falcon. He would be the one low point
- 30:41Speaker 1: I would say in the movie. Yeah, because because in
- 30:44Speaker 1: Falcon and the Winter Soldier he's in there too. He's
- 30:47Speaker 1: more like a normal person. He's not such a like
- 30:51Speaker 1: a giant teenager like he is in this movie, right right,
- 30:55Speaker 1: He's not just there to say quippie lions, you know.
- 30:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Yeah, like in Falcon in a Soldier, like he's a
- 31:01Speaker 1: tech guy, which he is in this, but like he's
- 31:04Speaker 1: a normal dude, like he can he can be serious
- 31:06Speaker 1: if he needs to be, and and in this one
- 31:08Speaker 1: he's just not. So I think they've made a disservice
- 31:12Speaker 1: to him. They just know you're gonna be the comic relief.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Yeah, And I guess they felt that was necessary, even
- 31:20Speaker 3: though Anthony Mackie sort of brings that sort of quippy.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Witty yeah you know, but Anthony Mackie can do it
- 31:28Speaker 1: and still feel cool.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Right right, Yeah, Chris Evans sort of could could deliver
- 31:33Speaker 3: a couple of one liners. But they didn't seem he
- 31:37Speaker 3: wasn't he didn't have that soul.
- 31:39Speaker 1: You know. Well, Steve Rogers Captain America is too stoic
- 31:43Speaker 1: right right, where Sam Wilson's more like the everyman.
- 31:46Speaker 3: So like, yeah, I'm not afraid to like, you know,
- 31:51Speaker 3: sit back and you know, tie a couple on and
- 31:54Speaker 3: you know, go to the bar and right.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Right, yeah, I don't know that bar scene totally. Like
- 32:01Speaker 1: when the guy hands on the beers and he and
- 32:03Speaker 1: he goes and walks away. I'm like, oh, they completely
- 32:05Speaker 1: edited the scene. Something was gonna happen here and he
- 32:08Speaker 1: just grabs the beers and walks away.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, now the now the yeah.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Yeah, And speaking of editing, yeah, it kind of felt
- 32:17Speaker 3: like it was heavily edited.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 32:20Speaker 3: Like they it kind of felt like they could have
- 32:24Speaker 3: released a little bit different of a movie.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Well they completely.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Right, right, Yeah, you get that feeling of heavy editing
- 32:33Speaker 3: when they reshoot movies, you know, they're out of order
- 32:36Speaker 3: some things. There's a little bit of an issue sometimes
- 32:39Speaker 3: with hair and makeup and yeah, a continuity error whatever or.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Right in the beginning with the news broadcast explains everything
- 32:47Speaker 1: you need to know to get caught up, right.
- 32:50Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's like that loads could have been like
- 32:52Speaker 4: full fledged scenes.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Right, and that's indicative of a like way to reshoot,
- 32:56Speaker 1: and we need to figure a way to cover this.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, cop, the character Copperhead shows up, Yeah with
- 33:04Speaker 3: is it Johannes Johannison.
- 33:07Speaker 1: I don't even know that I pronounced that.
- 33:09Speaker 4: He's got just a big giant dude.
- 33:11Speaker 1: You know, that character in particular that I thought was
- 33:14Speaker 1: kind of interesting. So he gets in the big fight
- 33:16Speaker 1: with Captain America and he slashes Captain America's uniform. Yeah,
- 33:21Speaker 1: I thought, like, I thought his whole uniform was vibranium,
- 33:27Speaker 1: not just the wings, but I thought the whole because
- 33:29Speaker 1: vibraannium can also be in clothing, right.
- 33:33Speaker 3: I kept thinking about that the entire time that I
- 33:35Speaker 3: kept seeing people getting stabbed. I'm like, during in these
- 33:39Speaker 3: entire Marvel movies, have we have we not seen or
- 33:42Speaker 3: come across any kind of technology that's okey proof?
- 33:46Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 33:47Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean vibranium or there's a lot of
- 33:51Speaker 3: stark tech in a suit, right, right, or at least
- 33:54Speaker 3: inspired tech, I know, he said, Yeah, Makanda. But the
- 33:58Speaker 3: thing that kept popping up that I wasn't utilized as
- 34:01Speaker 3: much as I thought is you know, he kept getting
- 34:03Speaker 3: Sam Wilson, kept getting punched by the hawk, and you
- 34:05Speaker 3: kept seeing that vibranium. One of the one of the
- 34:08Speaker 3: features of the vibranium suit is it stores kinetic energy
- 34:12Speaker 3: right right, and you saw it. You saw it because
- 34:14Speaker 3: it glows purple. You saw it doing that thing. And
- 34:18Speaker 3: then I think he only utilizes that like once or twice,
- 34:21Speaker 3: like he kept storing it.
- 34:23Speaker 1: And then well, the reason I bring it up is,
- 34:27Speaker 1: you know that guy slashes his uniform and I thought, oh,
- 34:30Speaker 1: is that the adamantium? Does he have added at knife?
- 34:34Speaker 1: And so that's why you cut through the uniform. Oh yeah,
- 34:38Speaker 1: that could be right, But they never they never really
- 34:42Speaker 1: go into it with that, you know.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Yeah, So I'm guessing that they've got to have a
- 34:49Speaker 3: new Wolverine movie sort of they're thinking about it.
- 34:51Speaker 1: You're going to the X one clearly like that where
- 34:54Speaker 1: they're going.
- 34:55Speaker 3: And and with the adamantium, you know, a brand They're
- 34:58Speaker 3: gonna have a brand new Wolverine and the gonna have
- 35:00Speaker 3: a brand new backstory of a brand new situation where
- 35:03Speaker 3: the government tries to infuse you know, adamantium onto a
- 35:06Speaker 3: you know, and that's and that's where this adam An
- 35:08Speaker 3: team is coming from, is from this giant.
- 35:12Speaker 4: Yeah, celestial that's in the middle. Yeah.
- 35:14Speaker 3: And I lean over to my wife and I'm like,
- 35:16Speaker 3: I remember the celestial popping up in the end of
- 35:20Speaker 3: a movie.
- 35:20Speaker 4: I just don't remember what it was. She was the
- 35:23Speaker 4: one that said, yeah, I think it was The.
- 35:24Speaker 3: Eternals, And I'm like, Okay, The Eternals was kind of
- 35:28Speaker 3: a forgettable movie.
- 35:29Speaker 1: So yeah, for sure, which is funny because looking back
- 35:32Speaker 1: at it, they're like, this is the movie that's gonna
- 35:34Speaker 1: win as an Oscar No, it's yeah, yeah, I mean.
- 35:39Speaker 3: It wasn't It wasn't good, but it wasn't so bad
- 35:42Speaker 3: that we're still talking about how bad it was.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Yeah. I saw somewhere somebody said that The Eternals would
- 35:47Speaker 1: have been better as a TV series because then you
- 35:49Speaker 1: could do like one episode focus on each.
- 35:51Speaker 4: Turnal, yeah, each character.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and that made a lot more sense to me.
- 35:58Speaker 1: But you know, overall, I like the film quite a bit.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I did feel bad that gian Carlos Posuita was in it,
- 36:05Speaker 1: just because he has mentioned several times that he wants
- 36:08Speaker 1: to play Professor X, and so if he's if he's Sidewinder,
- 36:13Speaker 1: it's probably not going to be Professor X. Right, Yeah, right.
- 36:17Speaker 1: He's also said too that he's tired of playing villains.
- 36:20Speaker 3: How do you feel about see and this can be
- 36:23Speaker 3: a real touchy subject. Yeah, how do you feel about
- 36:28Speaker 3: the recasting of characters that are traditionally traditionally white with
- 36:33Speaker 3: black actors? And again, yeah, by saying this is can
- 36:38Speaker 3: be a sensitive subject, I just want to get some
- 36:40Speaker 3: thoughts and some ideas.
- 36:41Speaker 1: And I I think it depends on what the character
- 36:46Speaker 1: is and what you're going for with the recast, right,
- 36:51Speaker 1: Like I've heard it explain this way. One of the
- 36:55Speaker 1: things like with Batman, right, you you could make a
- 36:58Speaker 1: black Batman, but you lose a lot with him having
- 37:03Speaker 1: the wealth and the status, right, And historically that is
- 37:09Speaker 1: not something, unfortunately, that that black people have had, right, right,
- 37:14Speaker 1: Not that they couldn't, but they just historically it's just
- 37:16Speaker 1: not there.
- 37:17Speaker 4: So there would be its own thing.
- 37:18Speaker 3: People would yeah, focused on that, and it would take
- 37:21Speaker 3: away the focus of something else.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Right, right. And it's a part of what makes Batman
- 37:25Speaker 1: batman is that he has all that, and yet he
- 37:27Speaker 1: still is Batman, right right, So you lose something in that,
- 37:32Speaker 1: Whereas something like Superman, which was always designed to be
- 37:35Speaker 1: an immigrant story, it's supposed to be just an allegory
- 37:39Speaker 1: for being an immigrant. And it's fine because like he's
- 37:43Speaker 1: from another planet. Who cares? Yeah yeah, like that that's
- 37:49Speaker 1: not as vital. I think.
- 37:51Speaker 4: As long as it doesn't distract too much.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, as long as it enhances the story in
- 37:59Speaker 1: a in a new and interesting way, I'm fine with it. Right.
- 38:03Speaker 1: But if it's just, hey, we made I don't know,
- 38:08Speaker 1: Blue Beetle Korean to make Blue beeld Korean, right, you know, like, okay.
- 38:17Speaker 4: You're not adding anything to the story.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, right right, yeah.
- 38:22Speaker 3: So yeah, i'd be interesting to hear what some of
- 38:25Speaker 3: the what some of our listeners think about. Now that
- 38:30Speaker 3: I say that out loud, I'm almost don't want to
- 38:32Speaker 3: hear what listeners think about. That could turn into a yeah,
- 38:36Speaker 3: turn into a really dangerous threat on the Facebook base.
- 38:39Speaker 1: But the thing is, you know, Sam Wilson has been
- 38:41Speaker 1: Captain meric for like decades in the comics at this point.
- 38:44Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I have zero problem that that. That's a
- 38:47Speaker 3: separate thing. He's a you know, it's a mantle being
- 38:49Speaker 3: passed on. Yeah, you know where you couldn't really do
- 38:52Speaker 3: that with Superman or or Batman.
- 38:54Speaker 4: I mean, I suppose you could with with with Batman, but.
- 38:57Speaker 3: You know, Bruce Wayne is Bruce Wayne, and and uh,
- 39:01Speaker 3: you know kal l is Kalil. Now in the comic
- 39:04Speaker 3: books there there there was a an alternate version of
- 39:07Speaker 3: a Superman, yeah, like or something right, had a he
- 39:12Speaker 3: was a black, dark skinned Superman what they call my Krypton,
- 39:17Speaker 3: but obviously not African American.
- 39:21Speaker 4: But uh, and that storyline would have been cool with me,
- 39:24Speaker 4: you know.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Yeah, like that. I thought they were still working on
- 39:27Speaker 1: a movie like that, you know, officially, but who knows.
- 39:30Speaker 3: The same people that are working on that movie are
- 39:32Speaker 3: the same people that are trying to get Paramount to
- 39:34Speaker 3: merge with somebody.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Oh okay, that's what it is, Okay, fantastic.
- 39:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, well fantastic You made me think of Fantastic four.
- 39:43Speaker 3: The oh yeah, yeah, the new one with the Michael B.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Jordan's the Michael B. Jordan playing Johnny Storm was the
- 39:52Speaker 3: least of my worries of that movie that when I
- 39:55Speaker 3: watched that movie, I wasn't even thinking about the fact
- 39:57Speaker 3: that traditionally Johnny Storm is white. It didn't cross my
- 40:00Speaker 3: mind I would be distracted by how crappy of a
- 40:03Speaker 3: movie it was, But it.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Was had nothing to do with that.
- 40:07Speaker 3: I liked his the way he bucked and the way
- 40:11Speaker 3: he acted and the way he story.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:15Speaker 4: Yeah, he was a dude with superpowers and I dug it, you.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Know, yeah, I that movie. Man, there's so much wrong
- 40:25Speaker 1: with that movie. But yeah, uh, you know, I know
- 40:30Speaker 1: some people have had issues with Prayer Prascal being the
- 40:33Speaker 1: new Read Richards because Read Richard's traditionally a white guy
- 40:36Speaker 1: and now it's a Latino man playing Read Richards. Whatever.
- 40:41Speaker 4: Like he's a good actor.
- 40:43Speaker 1: He's a good actor, you know. Yeah, but my only
- 40:46Speaker 1: thing with him is like he doesn't have a child
- 40:48Speaker 1: to save. What is he going to do? He always
- 40:52Speaker 1: has children to save? Or the Mandalorian likes to be lost. Yeah.
- 40:59Speaker 3: Well, see I was just reading here that uh uh
- 41:05Speaker 3: whose character?
- 41:07Speaker 4: Oh we were just talking about the Big Side, not Sidewinder,
- 41:10Speaker 4: but uh or was it Sidewinder? Who is who is
- 41:15Speaker 4: the big the leader?
- 41:19Speaker 1: Oh? Oh? Copperhead Copperhead. Copper Head.
- 41:22Speaker 4: Copperhead was added.
- 41:23Speaker 3: In the reshoots Okay, So it sounds to me like
- 41:26Speaker 3: they needed a little bit more action.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Maybe maybe. I mean, there was a lot of action
- 41:30Speaker 1: in this movie.
- 41:31Speaker 3: So so I'm guessing, if I were to guess as
- 41:35Speaker 3: far as reshoots, I think it started out as more
- 41:38Speaker 3: of a political.
- 41:39Speaker 4: Drama and they wanted to turn it into a Marvel movie.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Right, and so they just added they took away some
- 41:46Speaker 3: of the political stuff and added some action stuff, which
- 41:51Speaker 3: I'm okay with. You know, sometimes I just want to
- 41:54Speaker 3: turn my brain off and watch, you know, big giant
- 41:57Speaker 3: red guy's fight little winged guy.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, I can see that that's probably what they did,
- 42:08Speaker 1: because they did originally say that they were going to
- 42:10Speaker 1: be more focused on more like a Winter Soldier type movie,
- 42:13Speaker 1: and He's Soldier had good action, but it was more
- 42:17Speaker 1: political than anything, or more more of an intense thriller, right,
- 42:22Speaker 1: So yeah, I could see where that was the original
- 42:26Speaker 1: intent with this movie, and with so many reshoots, like
- 42:28Speaker 1: they had more serpent society characters in it, like WW
- 42:34Speaker 1: Hall of Fame or former WW Champ seth Rawlins was
- 42:37Speaker 1: one of the characters. There's set there's set images of
- 42:41Speaker 1: him full costume. He's one of them, and then they
- 42:45Speaker 1: completely cut him out of the movie. Oh wow, Yeah, okay, Yeah.
- 42:49Speaker 3: So there was one cameo that I was surprised about.
- 42:53Speaker 3: This one surprised me. Liv Tyler reprised her role as
- 42:57Speaker 3: Betty Ross.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:00Speaker 4: And then when there was a scene earlier in the
- 43:02Speaker 4: film where.
- 43:05Speaker 3: The president gets a phone call from his daughter, it's
- 43:07Speaker 3: it's Betty Ross and I'm.
- 43:09Speaker 4: I'm listening, I'm like, if they get a voice actress that.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Sounds like yeah, yeah, because I didn't look it up
- 43:15Speaker 3: before I watched the movie, and I thought, oh, because
- 43:19Speaker 3: because it didn't cut to her. Yeah, you know, I'm like, oh,
- 43:23Speaker 3: they just got a voice actress. This is all we're
- 43:24Speaker 3: going to hear from her. But that was sort of
- 43:26Speaker 3: a misdirection. She shows up at the end of the
- 43:28Speaker 3: movie at the floaty prison, the raft.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, the raft that has a.
- 43:34Speaker 3: Conversation with her dad, and I thought, well, that's a
- 43:36Speaker 3: that was a neat That was a neat cameo.
- 43:39Speaker 1: You Know. What I thought was funny with the raft
- 43:40Speaker 1: is they show that image of like the helicopter landing
- 43:44Speaker 1: as you know, like, oh no, we're at the raft,
- 43:46Speaker 1: And I kept thinking, is that the same image they
- 43:48Speaker 1: use in all the movies, Like do they just have
- 43:51Speaker 1: that one three second clip and they just throw that in? Well,
- 43:56Speaker 1: why why redo the special effects? Right?
- 43:58Speaker 4: Yeah, because the last was shown was some.
- 44:02Speaker 1: War movies ago. Yeah, right, so why wouldn't they Yeah, yeah,
- 44:07Speaker 1: they just go in and just okay, we're gonna do
- 44:10Speaker 1: it's raining out filter, put that on there, and now
- 44:12Speaker 1: we're done. Yeah, but the same like moving image and
- 44:15Speaker 1: the whole Yeah.
- 44:16Speaker 4: Well they do that a lot in Star Trek.
- 44:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, why not just reuse the footage?
- 44:21Speaker 3: Right Star Trek Generations when the klingonship is destroyed, it
- 44:24Speaker 3: was it was exactly the same footage from there from
- 44:28Speaker 3: the previous movie.
- 44:29Speaker 1: From Right Country, Yeah, prey, yeah, yeeah, yeah, I wouldn't
- 44:35Speaker 1: be surprised if they re used the footage.
- 44:38Speaker 4: But and h Bucky shows up.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I wanted to talk about that. He's running for Congress. Yes,
- 44:46Speaker 1: that's weird. Okay, Yeah, he didn't strike me as the
- 44:51Speaker 1: political guy, but uh, I mean he's one hundred and
- 44:55Speaker 1: ten years old, so like you know, you change around live.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Yep, he's got the experien, he's got a metal arm,
- 45:01Speaker 3: he's uh yeah, he's good to go.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Why not? Why not?
- 45:06Speaker 3: You could definitely tell that this was a like hey,
- 45:11Speaker 3: can you come in for like half a day, maybe
- 45:15Speaker 3: for four hours maybe, And because I mean, he didn't
- 45:19Speaker 3: he stepped up to his mark, he stayed there and
- 45:22Speaker 3: didn't move.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Right right, So yeah, I wonder what his campaign slogan's
- 45:29Speaker 1: gonna be. It's gonna be like boxcar apple like whatever
- 45:32Speaker 1: the trigger words were. Uh huh yeah, yeah.
- 45:39Speaker 3: That was fun even, I mean you could even tell,
- 45:41Speaker 3: like they they gave him just a glove to go
- 45:43Speaker 3: over because he weren't a suit.
- 45:45Speaker 4: They gave him this black glove that had just a
- 45:47Speaker 4: couple of.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Little things on it to remind you that he's got
- 45:50Speaker 3: a metal arm. But they didn't they didn't do a
- 45:53Speaker 3: close upon it. They didn't know he didn't move his
- 45:55Speaker 3: arm at all. So they were like, yeah, so Baston,
- 45:58Speaker 3: can you come in for like, may like an hour
- 46:00Speaker 3: and a half.
- 46:00Speaker 1: And just read these lines like he's shooting the thunderbolts
- 46:03Speaker 1: next door and like, hey, on your lunch break, can
- 46:05Speaker 1: you come over here real quick?
- 46:06Speaker 4: Right right?
- 46:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's totally what happened. That may have
- 46:11Speaker 1: even been a reshoot.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Well, even his line as soon as he said the line,
- 46:16Speaker 3: I thought he said, all right, well I've got to go.
- 46:18Speaker 3: I've got a campaign fundraiser thing. I'm like, oh, that's
- 46:20Speaker 3: the line they made up. So he's not in the
- 46:22Speaker 3: rest of the film. Yeah, yeah, because why wouldn't he
- 46:28Speaker 3: be in the rest of the film.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Right, Why wouldn't help you out, like.
- 46:31Speaker 4: He's the Winter Soldier.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, and then he's gonna be in the Thunderbolts.
- 46:40Speaker 1: And now knowing that he you know, went to campaign.
- 46:44Speaker 1: If you go look at some of that trailer, he
- 46:45Speaker 1: looks like he's in a lot of like official US
- 46:48Speaker 1: like meetings and things like that. So I guess he won.
- 46:53Speaker 4: Oh it's it's Senator Bucky.
- 46:55Speaker 1: It's no congressman.
- 46:56Speaker 3: He was Congressman Bucky Congressman bar Yeah.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:02Speaker 4: I was waiting.
- 47:04Speaker 3: I'm wondering if they're ever gonna do Ah a Steve
- 47:08Speaker 3: Rogers cameo, an old man.
- 47:10Speaker 4: Steve Rodgers cameo.
- 47:12Speaker 1: I mean, if they don't have him out there like
- 47:14Speaker 1: giving his endorsement to Bucky.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Yeah, there's gotta be Yeah, there's got to be a
- 47:20Speaker 3: throwaway scene where where you see a television in the
- 47:23Speaker 3: background where you've got Steve Rogers an old man, makeup
- 47:27Speaker 3: with his arm around. You know, Bucky, I'm Captain America
- 47:31Speaker 3: and I approved this message.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Can you imagine explaining that to people though, like in
- 47:35Speaker 1: the Marvel universe, because like, to them, Steve Rogers saved
- 47:39Speaker 1: them from Thanos and that was like five years ago
- 47:43Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, he's like a million years old.
- 47:46Speaker 3: What No, So just after that, you could have a
- 47:50Speaker 3: PSA from a smartthulk going, Okay, time travel doesn't work
- 47:54Speaker 3: like that. Yeah, yeah, events from your past and when
- 47:57Speaker 3: you go back and he came back and he missed,
- 47:59Speaker 3: he overshot time stamps.
- 48:01Speaker 1: That's this. I feel like it'd be easier to lie
- 48:05Speaker 1: just but yeah, when when you when you fought Thanos
- 48:07Speaker 1: and the Magic Rocks and uh that's what happened. Yeah yeah,
- 48:13Speaker 1: instead of like, well we created time travel people.
- 48:15Speaker 4: Right right?
- 48:19Speaker 1: Yeah? Oh, was there anything else? Uh? I know that
- 48:24Speaker 1: it's doing fairly well at the box office. It's it's
- 48:29Speaker 1: making decent money, not the best. But it was also like,
- 48:34Speaker 1: even with all the reshoots, the budget was only like
- 48:37Speaker 1: one hundred and eighty million, which is pretty low for
- 48:40Speaker 1: a for a Marvel movie.
- 48:44Speaker 3: Suppose yeah, yeah, well you know it might you know,
- 48:49Speaker 3: boast some streaming numbers too.
- 48:51Speaker 1: Later on.
- 48:51Speaker 4: It's yeah a month, it's going to be on Disney Plus, so.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Right, right. I know that it made forty million on
- 48:59Speaker 1: its first day, which is a lot. It's like one
- 49:02Speaker 1: of the biggest openings for a Marvel film on a
- 49:05Speaker 1: on a first day. Okay, yeah, all right, so it's
- 49:09Speaker 1: doing well. It's it's doing it's doing very well.
- 49:12Speaker 3: So it's kind of like you said before about Rotten
- 49:16Speaker 3: Tomatoes for forgetting the critics score eight.
- 49:19Speaker 4: That's a fair to midland score for a month.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was.
- 49:24Speaker 3: Just looking at I gotta tell you this trivia that
- 49:27Speaker 3: I read yesterday that I just found again. I'm going
- 49:31Speaker 3: through the trivia section of IMDb. According to Falcon and
- 49:34Speaker 3: Winter Soldiers showrunner Malcolm Spellman, there are plans for Sam
- 49:40Speaker 3: to receive a power which enables him to talk to birds.
- 49:48Speaker 3: That was part of the comics mainstream universe.
- 49:50Speaker 1: So that is in the comics that he can talk
- 49:52Speaker 1: to a bird.
- 49:54Speaker 4: So are birds real?
- 49:57Speaker 1: Oh what is he talking?
- 50:00Speaker 4: I could do?
- 50:01Speaker 1: He does have a drone. He does have that drone.
- 50:04Speaker 6: He does have the drone that because now red Wing
- 50:10Speaker 6: is now splits into two yeah, and then Hall smashed
- 50:15Speaker 6: or Red Hawk smashed both of.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Them, right, which red Wing gets smashed like every movie
- 50:19Speaker 1: it's in, Right, it's always done for a new red Wing.
- 50:22Speaker 4: That's fine, red Yeah, by now it's red Wing, you
- 50:24Speaker 4: know Mark nine.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and he'll get a new outfit because of course
- 50:30Speaker 1: you will. Oh yeah yeah, and so we'll we'll Falcon.
- 50:34Speaker 4: It'll be adamantium vibranium. Yeah, it'll defy all the laws
- 50:38Speaker 4: of physics.
- 50:39Speaker 1: Here's the thing though, new Falcon, right, Joaquin I forget
- 50:43Speaker 1: his last name anyways, Uh, he's supposed to be Mexican,
- 50:47Speaker 1: Like canonically he's Mexican, okay, And speaking as a Mexican person,
- 50:52Speaker 1: you would get just ripped to shreds with with nicknames, right,
- 50:57Speaker 1: you would be called like little bird, little stuff like that.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, Like all his family be like, hey, by,
- 51:04Speaker 1: what's going on.
- 51:04Speaker 4: What's Spanish for turkey?
- 51:06Speaker 1: Oh? Oh oh man? What is it? Shoot? Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 51:10Speaker 1: I don't know, not off the man, Yeah, a little
- 51:14Speaker 1: turk something like that, like whatever your worst insecurity, that's
- 51:17Speaker 1: your nickname in Spanish culture. So like he would just
- 51:21Speaker 1: be ripped and yeah, so yeah you should throw some
- 51:24Speaker 1: of that in. Yeah yeah, oh all right, Well, uh,
- 51:30Speaker 1: we've got chasm was waiting online, so we should probably
- 51:33Speaker 1: get to listener feedback, all.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Right, listener feedback.
- 51:42Speaker 1: All right, so listener feedback time.
- 51:46Speaker 4: Because otherwise we'd be getting canceled right now.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Oh, I know, right, I can bring these up. It's fine.
- 51:52Speaker 1: All right, here's jazz biz. Are you on the boat?
- 51:55Speaker 2: I'm off the boat.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Oh you're off the boat.
- 51:58Speaker 7: I'm off the boat in a hotel room, winning on
- 52:00Speaker 7: my flight to leave around three o'clock today.
- 52:04Speaker 4: How was the cruise chat this?
- 52:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I et too much.
- 52:11Speaker 3: If you were bored or hungry on a cruise, you
- 52:14Speaker 3: have done something wrong.
- 52:16Speaker 1: Yeah, there's what was the best thing you had?
- 52:20Speaker 7: Man, I don't know. It's like, I had lobster last night.
- 52:25Speaker 7: It was pretty good. And then I had real had
- 52:28Speaker 7: these good hot dogs on there, which is funny, just
- 52:32Speaker 7: a random thing you get a home, but they made
- 52:34Speaker 7: some good hot dogs.
- 52:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:37Speaker 2: And then the pizza station was like a giant line.
- 52:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's like and then I means.
- 52:44Speaker 7: Just food, food, food, lobster, everything you wanted, steak. I mean,
- 52:51Speaker 7: I'm I don't want to get on the scale tomorrow,
- 52:55Speaker 7: that's sure.
- 52:57Speaker 4: No, you're yeah, I know I gained a ten pounds
- 53:00Speaker 4: when I went.
- 53:00Speaker 1: On my cruise.
- 53:01Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm gonna go on a week fast and yeah,
- 53:04Speaker 7: eat anything and probably low carpet for a month.
- 53:10Speaker 1: Yeah. Did you did you see Captain America in uh?
- 53:14Speaker 1: The world?
- 53:15Speaker 7: I didn't get the chance because, like I mean, we
- 53:18Speaker 7: just got off the ship about an hour and a
- 53:20Speaker 7: half ago.
- 53:22Speaker 3: Okay, well yeah, they typically don't go first run movies,
- 53:26Speaker 3: so well I was gonna do at ten o'clock.
- 53:28Speaker 7: Then I was like, well, we got to be at
- 53:30Speaker 7: the airport at this time, and then there's this giant
- 53:32Speaker 7: boat show in Miami right now, So I don't want
- 53:35Speaker 7: to get stuck in traffic.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Missed my flight, right, I.
- 53:40Speaker 4: Gotta pull That would be worth the risk to be
- 53:44Speaker 4: able to contribute to our podcast. That's right, A miss
- 53:48Speaker 4: flight possibly thousands of dollars extra and sease.
- 53:52Speaker 2: And but I got an idea for the podcast.
- 53:56Speaker 1: If you guys that, yeah, uh.
- 53:59Speaker 7: Make trek halfs ducks and hide them on the cruise ship.
- 54:06Speaker 1: I like it.
- 54:07Speaker 2: That's what they did, is they hit ducks throughout.
- 54:10Speaker 4: The Yeah, that's the thing.
- 54:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I found five ducks.
- 54:16Speaker 4: But really I didn't find a single duck.
- 54:19Speaker 7: I found five of them and then I hit them
- 54:21Speaker 7: last night for the kids to find, you.
- 54:24Speaker 1: Know, like if you find them, you get yeah, you
- 54:28Speaker 1: get to keep them.
- 54:29Speaker 7: Oh wow, okay, and they're like little tiny ducks, you know,
- 54:32Speaker 7: bigger ducks, rubber ducks all over the place.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Oh okay, I did not know that.
- 54:38Speaker 2: And then that's what I'm saying.
- 54:39Speaker 7: If you made like a trek cast duck with your
- 54:41Speaker 7: little logo on the bottom, maybe they'd be good promotion.
- 54:45Speaker 1: I like it.
- 54:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I like it, you know, and be a good idea.
- 54:49Speaker 7: If you did the truck Craft cruise, you know, do
- 54:52Speaker 7: that just promote Star Trek Cruise twenty twenty nine, yeah,
- 54:57Speaker 7: twenty Yeah, well you got save up now because.
- 55:03Speaker 2: That's a very expensive cruise. It was so expensive it
- 55:06Speaker 2: was double for what we paid for.
- 55:09Speaker 1: So yeah, and we need some sponsors.
- 55:13Speaker 4: Daniel, you're the producer. You need to start working on that.
- 55:16Speaker 1: Yeah, we get on that. I'm working on a sponsorship
- 55:21Speaker 1: right now.
- 55:21Speaker 7: Actually, Yeah, what's our crazy sponsorship that we end up
- 55:28Speaker 7: promote something stupid?
- 55:29Speaker 1: No, I can't say just yet, but we'll find out.
- 55:34Speaker 2: Medical marijuana.
- 55:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what it is. It's fine.
- 55:40Speaker 2: It's gonna be like something.
- 55:44Speaker 1: For him yeah. Yeah, oh yeah, that that stuff blue
- 55:50Speaker 1: choo or whatever. Yeah.
- 55:52Speaker 3: There used to be like a that's right, that's right,
- 55:58Speaker 3: you're ready to go full alert.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Right, I'll just function. Have you had your prostate check?
- 56:07Speaker 1: God? We should talk to them because then we could
- 56:10Speaker 1: talk about the D all the time.
- 56:12Speaker 7: Yes, yes, do you want your D ship shape?
- 56:23Speaker 1: Man?
- 56:24Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 56:25Speaker 1: The minute we talk about the D, that's when the
- 56:27Speaker 1: comments just blow up. So I'm just waiting.
- 56:29Speaker 4: Yeah, we talk about the D.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Let's talk about the D.
- 56:31Speaker 4: Sorry mom, hi mom.
- 56:35Speaker 2: But I actually got the tour of the ship, but
- 56:38Speaker 2: I did that. That was kind of fun.
- 56:40Speaker 1: Oh that's cool.
- 56:41Speaker 4: That's the one thing I wished I had done. Yeah,
- 56:43Speaker 4: the tour.
- 56:45Speaker 7: Yeah, they take you through the kitchens underneath, you know,
- 56:49Speaker 7: because there's twenty two hundred crew on there.
- 56:52Speaker 4: So that's insane.
- 56:53Speaker 7: And I'm sitting I think, and I was like, man,
- 56:55Speaker 7: this is what the Enterprise D would be like, because
- 56:57Speaker 7: what's the crew about sixty?
- 57:00Speaker 2: How bick is the enter price.
- 57:02Speaker 1: Kind is like six hundred, wasn't it?
- 57:05Speaker 4: He was oney twelve?
- 57:07Speaker 2: Okay, so one twelve?
- 57:08Speaker 7: So so imagine this. This is twenty two hundred crew, yeah,
- 57:12Speaker 7: and six thousand passengers. So yeah, that's a lot of
- 57:18Speaker 7: people to maintain.
- 57:20Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a lot.
- 57:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:22Speaker 7: And it's weird because they have like a highway they
- 57:24Speaker 7: call it I ninety five on the bottom where it's
- 57:27Speaker 7: just this one straight hallway.
- 57:29Speaker 2: Well go from one end of the ship to the other, so.
- 57:33Speaker 4: The service truck can bring in supplies.
- 57:35Speaker 7: Yes, then there's like service people, security everything.
- 57:39Speaker 4: Oh wow, yeah, huh, that's really cool. Yeah, next time
- 57:43Speaker 4: I go on a cruise, I'm definitely gonna do that.
- 57:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I suggesting it.
- 57:46Speaker 7: It's it's pretty cool because it's like because you're seeing
- 57:48Speaker 7: the enterds of the ship and.
- 57:50Speaker 4: Like a hundred bucks, isn't it?
- 57:51Speaker 2: It was how much was it a person? Juliana? About
- 57:56Speaker 2: two hundred persons?
- 57:57Speaker 7: So okay, yeah, have security, you know when you go
- 58:02Speaker 7: on the deck there, you know you have two security
- 58:05Speaker 7: guards following.
- 58:06Speaker 2: Yeah, make sure you don't do anything stupid.
- 58:09Speaker 1: That sounds about right, Yeah yeah yeah, okay, oh cool.
- 58:16Speaker 7: And it was ant just you know, doing that for
- 58:20Speaker 7: you know, just for the Facebook group, yeah, or you
- 58:24Speaker 7: know anything.
- 58:25Speaker 1: So well, yeah, I think there's a couple of people
- 58:27Speaker 1: in the Facebook group going I think on this year's trip.
- 58:30Speaker 7: Yeah, I noticed it a couple of them were mentioned it,
- 58:33Speaker 7: so yeah and take photos and yeah, you know, post
- 58:39Speaker 7: them all in the group.
- 58:40Speaker 3: I was waking up some older I was looking up
- 58:44Speaker 3: some older Trek casts Facebook stuff that I posted way
- 58:47Speaker 3: back before I even sent my first email, and I
- 58:51Speaker 3: went to uh. I went to the Ford Museum. This
- 58:55Speaker 3: is like five years ago. I went to the Henry
- 58:57Speaker 3: Ford Museum in Dearborn and they had a Star Trek
- 59:01Speaker 3: exhibit there. Oh yeah, and I had I had contacted you, Daniel,
- 59:08Speaker 3: and he said, hey, if you can take some photos
- 59:11Speaker 3: and post post them upon our Facebook group. And I
- 59:13Speaker 3: took just a crap ton of photos. There were whole
- 59:17Speaker 3: there's a ton of stuff. The most memorable thing I
- 59:19Speaker 3: remember was the Golden Enterprise that the card destroyed when
- 59:24Speaker 3: he had his little rant with little yeah yeah ready
- 59:28Speaker 3: room and he's like and he swings its fad there
- 59:31Speaker 3: and and the Enterprise swings out and then they all
- 59:34Speaker 3: fall down. They had that model put blue back together.
- 59:43Speaker 4: It's all about the big that's right, That's right. So
- 59:48Speaker 4: those are some photos to go through.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure, all right, I might
- 59:54Speaker 1: repost those. Yeah, that'd be cool to let people see
- 59:56Speaker 1: them because we get a lot of comments on the
- 59:59Speaker 1: Facebook group. So if you guys are not part of
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: our face group group, which I guess now is a
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: good time to plug that. Run all the socials track
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Cast t n G. If you just look up track
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Cast on Facebook, you'll find our Facebook group and it
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: is very active. We're on there a lot talking about
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: everything and anything. We We've posted quite a few new
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: and interesting things that people just kind of go off about.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Also on the Instagram is very popular with the memes,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: so that's pretty fun as well.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: Then the Star Trek convention, it seems.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Like now oh yeah, well yeah, yeah, it's it's because.
- 1:00:42Speaker 7: You know, it was all Marvel there for a while,
- 1:00:45Speaker 7: and then now Star Trek has was a hall h.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: The big one.
- 1:00:49Speaker 7: Yeah, sometimes to promote the new shows, and it's almost
- 1:00:53Speaker 7: better to go to Comic Con.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Hitting that way. Yeah, I wonder if that's when we'll
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: get the Yeah, I wonder if that's when we'll get
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: the announcement for Stranger in Worlds when it starts. Yeah,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: it's going to be the fall, like I'm thinking.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: Of, and then whenever a me.
- 1:01:12Speaker 7: Yeah, then that could be you know, January, it could
- 1:01:17Speaker 7: probably go through December. To January, so they get both seasons,
- 1:01:22Speaker 7: you know, almost two years.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: So yeah, because.
- 1:01:26Speaker 7: They've got to straddle that, and then they're probably gonna
- 1:01:28Speaker 7: make you know, if they make a new show.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I don't know if we'll get a show. Yeah. I
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: don't think we'll get a third show.
- 1:01:37Speaker 7: Which is nice about that because you kind of had
- 1:01:39Speaker 7: star Trek each you know season.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: You know, yeah, I think it'll be just down to
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: two shows. And like they they've already said that, you know,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: the the Tawny Newsome Comedy Show is not guaranteed. It's
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: just in development.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: So yeah, just in talks.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: And that's yeah, well that's right.
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: That was separate from.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: Uh yeah, she's a writer on Academy. Yeah, but but
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: the other show might do something.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: But hell, they just thought to cast her in an Academy.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Well yeah they should, but I don't know how they'll
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: make the timelines work to give her a whole new character.
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: I mean, they could give her a new character thread
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: considering star trek, you know, recasting, you know, casting the
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: same actor for different roles. Plus she would be going
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: from a voice actress of a cartoon to character.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: Somehow she could bes like great, great, great, great great
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: great granddaughter. Yeah, dude, that would be funny. And then
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: like she constantly refers back to Marriner like my hero,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: my great great great grandma, you.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: Know, and the picture of a cartoon, yes.
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: The character somebody did one time.
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, but yeah. Speaking of comic cons and stuff,
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: you know, promoting start there's a huge Star.
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: Trek presence of these. The two main comic cons that
- 1:03:07Speaker 4: I go to are both Grand Rapids based.
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: There's a Grand Rapids Comic Con in Grand Rapids, and
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: then there's a Grand Rapids Comic Con Spring Flame, which
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: is in the Spring in my hometown of Kalamazoo. There's
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: a huge Star Trek presence there. There's there's the International
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: Star Trek Fan Club that that have like a giant
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: booth that they that they promote and everything. There's there's
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: gonna be another one if there's anybody in the Southwest
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: Michigan area. There's gonna be another one in April I
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: think eleventh, twelfth, and thirteen in Kalamazoo at the Candy Fairground. Yeah, eleven,
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: twelve and thirteenth, So I'll be there. I'm also going
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: to be contacting the Capital City Comic Con.
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: I ran into those people.
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: At the last comic con I went to, they saw
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: my they saw my Trek cast press pass. Yeah, and
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: they're like, oh, you got a press pass, get a
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: hold of the So I'm gonna be emailing them.
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: This is for Lansing. The uh the Capital City Comic Con,
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: So that's.
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: Coming up in June or July, I think. So we're
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: thinking to that one. And that's an even bigger comic
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: con than the Camera Doo one, right, ye yeah, yeah,
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: it's Capital So, yep, it's Capital.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Ours is the Spookan one is the Lilac City
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Comic Con, and every year they do like a Star
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Trek something like last year they had a non visitor there,
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: but it was the same weekend that we went to
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: Trek Long Island. Oh okay, yeah, so and I know
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: the guy who puts it on, so I might I
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: might have something to do with it, but I don't
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: know yet. Okay, yeah, we'll see. But yeah, but I
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: guess we suggested that.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: Like the people I've talked to in the Star Trek
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: booths and in the Star Wars booth and the Ghostbuts
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: of Booth, they've all said, dude, you need to get
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: a trek Cast booth going on to attract some attention.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: I think it would be a great idea to set
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: up a booth and and get some banners and cards
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: and yeah, yeah, make some ducks, make them ducks. Yeah,
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: slogan for a producer. Gotta go out there and make
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: them ducks, man, and make them ducks.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Baby. Yeah yeah, quack quack baby, yeah. But yeah, leave
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: us a voicemail too, if you want to, uh, five
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: seven zero six six one zero zero zero one, it's
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: five to seven or five seven zero six six one
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: zero zero zero one. We'd love to play your voicemails.
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: So, like you used to say, listeners are not callers
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: are not standing by.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: So you call that number and it goes straight to
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: voicemail and anybody can leave a voicemail. I'm I'm imploring
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: somebody to just leave a voicemail that's trek related or not. Uh,
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: just leave a voicemail so we can we can play
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: on the air. We'd love to hear your thoughts on
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: pretty much anything track or comic book related or sci
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: fi related.
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: Just leave a comment all that stuff. So, yeah, mom,
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: if you want to leave a voicemail, go right ahead.
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: That's fine with us.
- 1:06:11Speaker 8: Yeah, absolutely so, Mom, Yes, all right, Well, I guess
- 1:06:20Speaker 8: that's pretty much wrapping up the show.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: Anything else we want to bring up before we end it.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: I think we.
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: Stinger at the end of the movie at the credit.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: You know there's it yet, but it's way at the end,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: so it's not a mid No, it's all the way
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: at the end, so I can.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: Come back and see the stinger.
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: So I have real quick I have an app on
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: my phone.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: It's called run Key oh yep, and and I use
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: I was one of the original people who paid the
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: twenty bucks to crowdsource whatever, so I have unlimited lifetime.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: They're called Pea Coins, And it's designed for people who
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: need to use the bathroom, and and it tells you
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: the times that you should go to the bathroom during
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: a movie. One of the things I like about this
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: app is it also tells you if there's end credit scenes,
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: how many end credit scenes, where they are in the credits,
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: how long the credit are, and and if you do
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: use the I gotta go to the bathroom part, it
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: gives you a brief synopsis and it usually gives you
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: two or three options, and then it will give you
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: like a line just before the time. Okay, so it's
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: a really good app I recommend it.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: Okay, run peek.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know if you need to see the
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: end credit though.
- 1:07:42Speaker 7: Okay, boil it so I don't have to say it.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: It's the other films multiverses coming.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: I don't even remember the end credit scene.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: Yeah, he goes to see the leader.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: All right, so there's okay.
- 1:07:59Speaker 7: So next movie is Thunderbolts, and then after Thunderbolts is
- 1:08:02Speaker 7: Fantastic Four.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: Right, is that what it is? I think in Fantastic
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: Force first, isn't it or no idea? I don't know.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: I don't know. All I know is there's in July
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: we get Jurassic Park or Jassic World, Superman and and Thunderbolts.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: Yeah were last year we had nothing in this.
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: Year or Fantastic War. Yeah.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Well, I guess because you're getting everything because of the
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: writers strike everything.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: My prediction is going to be that Fantastic Four does
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: twice the box office as Thunderbolts.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: What about Superman?
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: You think it's gonna I think I think Superman is
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: going to smash him all out of the water.
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: I think is going to be the largest film of
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: the year.
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and Draftic Park will probably do good because it does.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: It always does.
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: Man predict that Jurassic Park will be their worst outing yet.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: I could see that. Yeah. I think the.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: Only reason people are going to go see it, and
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: I think the only reason why they cast her is
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: Scarlet Johansson.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: I don't believe.
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I love Scarlett Johansson. I think she's an amazing actress.
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: I think she's gorgeous.
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: But I think the reason why they brought her on
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: is because they've got nothing left to tell.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
