- 0:00Speaker 1: You're waking up to Denver's Morning.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Show with Nina and Josh.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Mix 100.
- 0:05Speaker 3: It's Denver's Morning Show with Nina and Josh as I
- 0:08Speaker 3: try to figure out how in the world I'm going
- 0:10Speaker 3: to wear headphones today because I'm all dressed up in costume.
- 0:15Speaker 2: This is not working.
- 0:17Speaker 3: I have a witch's hat on right now.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I don't know how to put on headphones with this
- 0:21Speaker 2: witch's hat.
- 0:22Speaker 1: You look good. I mean, it's funny. I tried to
- 0:25Speaker 1: go for a little, I mean, I guess I use
- 0:26Speaker 1: in-ear headphones too, but I tried to go for a
- 0:28Speaker 1: little bit of like a country boy look.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I was going to say, I was like, you kind
- 0:32Speaker 2: of look like low-key normal.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I just look like me. You just look normal. And
- 0:35Speaker 1: I don't like that. I tried to go for like
- 0:37Speaker 1: a Morgan Wallen-ish, but then I was like, I don't
- 0:39Speaker 1: want to shave my whole face for one day of
- 0:41Speaker 1: rocking a mustache.
- 0:43Speaker 2: No.
- 0:44Speaker 1: But I did bring like, a country jacket, and then
- 0:47Speaker 1: I put on a flannel, and then I'm wearing like
- 0:49Speaker 1: a Bass Pro hat. So I'm like, but then I
- 0:52Speaker 1: also looked in the mirror this morning and I was like,
- 0:54Speaker 1: you kind of look like Josh. And so I was like, okay.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I'm a basic Josh today.
- 0:58Speaker 2: You are. You're just a little bit more of like
- 1:00Speaker 2: a country-fied Josh.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Just wait till tomorrow. That's all I can say. I
- 1:04Speaker 1: was here at the office very, very late yesterday for
- 1:07Speaker 1: us specifically. You were, yes. And when I got home,
- 1:09Speaker 1: I was like, I'm tired. And I literally like ate
- 1:12Speaker 1: dinner and got in bed. And then I woke up
- 1:14Speaker 1: this morning and I was like, I don't have anything
- 1:16Speaker 1: other than a country outfit. This is all I got.
- 1:19Speaker 1: But you went all out, and I love it. I
- 1:20Speaker 1: love the hat. I love that you showed up with
- 1:23Speaker 1: 57 different drinks in your hand today as well.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Well, that is because I'm not just a witch. I'm
- 1:28Speaker 3: a basic witch. And so I've got my Starbucks iced coffee.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Of course, okay.
- 1:35Speaker 3: And I've got my Stanley filled with hot coffee in
- 1:38Speaker 3: case I get too cold because of the iced coffee.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Got to balance it out.
- 1:41Speaker 3: And then I have my water bottle filled with water
- 1:44Speaker 3: because I'm a hydrated girly.
- 1:46Speaker 2: What is that even?
- 1:50Speaker 1: How did you think of this?
- 1:52Speaker 2: This is just basic witch stuff.
- 1:53Speaker 1: You're like, it just came to me. It just came
- 1:55Speaker 1: to me.
- 1:55Speaker 2: This is just normal stuff.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Well, I love it. I'm glad you went all out.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I will be going all out tomorrow and the rest
- 2:00Speaker 1: of the week. But yeah, I'm... I don't want to
- 2:03Speaker 1: say I dropped the ball because I did try a
- 2:05Speaker 1: little bit.
- 2:05Speaker 3: You tried a little bit, but I will say when
- 2:08Speaker 3: people look into the studio as everyone else in the
- 2:11Speaker 3: office starts to get here, they're going to be like, oh,
- 2:13Speaker 3: Nina's all dressed up and Josh is just Josh.
- 2:15Speaker 1: You're going to stand out. I will say that. You're
- 2:17Speaker 1: going to stand out, and I think you're going to
- 2:18Speaker 1: hate your life in about 10 minutes because of your headphones.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Oh, 100%.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I already do with these headphones.
- 2:23Speaker 3: I need to figure out a different situation because this
- 2:26Speaker 3: is not working already.
- 2:27Speaker 1: When we have longer segments, good luck. Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you. Thank you for that.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Okay, now I put my headphones on and then the
- 2:33Speaker 3: witch's hat over it, but I'm kind of balancing the
- 2:36Speaker 3: witch's hat, so we'll see what happens.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It looks like you're trying to give yourself an extra
- 2:40Speaker 1: 12 inches of height, and you're like, look how tall
- 2:42Speaker 1: I am.
- 2:42Speaker 2: This is just not working. Anyway, a celebrity quickie.
- 2:46Speaker 3: So Taylor Swift, she has officially been inducted into the
- 2:50Speaker 3: Nashville Hall, Songwriters Hall of Fame.
- 2:53Speaker 2: That was last night.
- 2:54Speaker 3: And Brad Paisley gave her introduction up on the stage.
- 2:58Speaker 3: And Taylor shared a story as to why she's not
- 3:01Speaker 3: necessarily friends with Brad Paisley. She said, I don't know
- 3:05Speaker 3: if you remember this, but. since like 2017, we have been,
- 3:09Speaker 3: oh no, 2007, we have been estranged. And she says
- 3:13Speaker 3: this on stage in front of a whole audience and cameras.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And Brad's like, what?
- 3:17Speaker 2: And he's like, oh gosh, what's about to happen?
- 3:19Speaker 3: And she says, I don't know if you remember, but
- 3:21Speaker 3: when she opened for him on tour way back in
- 3:25Speaker 3: the day, she said that he had a prank go
- 3:27Speaker 3: way too far. And since then, they haven't really talked much.
- 3:31Speaker 3: She said he put a, A thousand grasshoppers in her
- 3:36Speaker 3: tour bus.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Crickets.
- 3:39Speaker 3: And not only was she freaked out by all the bugs,
- 3:42Speaker 3: but they couldn't get all of them out. So for
- 3:45Speaker 3: months she couldn't sleep because they were just chirp, chirp,
- 3:49Speaker 3: chirp all night long.
- 3:51Speaker 1: That's honestly amazing. First of all, that's disgusting. Yeah, it's gross.
- 3:55Speaker 1: A thousand bugs and grasshoppers and crickets in your little area? Yeah.
- 3:59Speaker 1: No thank you. But also, that's kind of funny, because
- 4:01Speaker 1: there's no way you're going to catch all of them.
- 4:02Speaker 1: There's no way you're going to get all of them. No,
- 4:04Speaker 1: not at all. Honestly, at that point, you have to
- 4:06Speaker 1: just give up.
- 4:07Speaker 2: You just have to get a new tour bus.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. That's all.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Throw away the whole bus. It's fine.
- 4:13Speaker 1: What happened to the old one? Crickets. Can't do it, man.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Nope.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Can't do it.
- 4:16Speaker 1: That's funny. Did he have a response or was he like? No.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Well, she was up on stage and she was doing
- 4:21Speaker 2: her acceptance speech.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:22Speaker 2: So it was part of her speech.
- 4:23Speaker 3: He was kind of already off to the side. So
- 4:26Speaker 3: he couldn't get up and say anything. He just kind
- 4:28Speaker 3: of smiled and laughed along with it. So I'm sure
- 4:31Speaker 3: that they chit chatted about it afterwards backstage.
- 4:34Speaker 1: He's probably like, I am so sorry. I forgot about that. Oops.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:37Speaker 1: That's hilarious. Well, keeping it there with country stars or
- 4:40Speaker 1: former country stars like Taylor Swift, boys to men have
- 4:43Speaker 1: just now announced that they are heading off to Nashville.
- 4:47Speaker 1: They are making a country album and releasing it in 2027.
- 4:51Speaker 1: First of all, love boys to men. So that's that's
- 4:53Speaker 1: I love that they're still doing new projects.
- 4:56Speaker 2: The way they can harmonize is insane.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Unbelievable. But going straight to country and not expected. But
- 5:01Speaker 1: the Untitled Project marks the trio's first studio album release
- 5:04Speaker 1: since in over 10 years following their last release, Under
- 5:08Speaker 1: the Streetlight, which was not a country album at all.
- 5:10Speaker 1: So I don't know about this. I'm excited, I guess.
- 5:13Speaker 1: They have performed at the Grand Ole Opry before, alongside
- 5:17Speaker 1: Chris Stapleton in, I think they said, 2021. That's kind
- 5:20Speaker 1: of cool, but also something completely unexpected, but I'm here
- 5:23Speaker 1: for it. I want to hear what they have to do,
- 5:24Speaker 1: you know, have to say.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I mean, hey, I say go for it. Different genres.
- 5:29Speaker 3: It shouldn't put you, you know, in any sort of
- 5:32Speaker 3: a bucket necessarily when it comes to music or your
- 5:34Speaker 3: creativity or anything like that.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Go for it, boys to men. Who knows? They could
- 5:39Speaker 2: be the next greatest thing in country music.
- 5:41Speaker 1: They totally could. Love the hat, by the way, falling off.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But I mean, look, if Post Malone can do it,
- 5:45Speaker 1: why can't they?
- 5:46Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 5:48Speaker 3: That is your Celebrity Quickie on Denver's Morning Show. Catch
- 5:51Speaker 3: it again at 7.15.
- 5:54Speaker 2: With new stories right here on Mix 100.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Three things you need to know before you go into
- 5:58Speaker 3: the office today, like this fog outside.
- 6:02Speaker 2: We are under a dense fog advisory.
- 6:05Speaker 3: It's in effect right now until at least nine o'clock today,
- 6:09Speaker 3: which is a long time because sometimes when the fog
- 6:11Speaker 3: comes through early in the mornings.
- 6:13Speaker 2: It's just there for a little while.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Yeah, not too long.
- 6:15Speaker 3: And it clears out, but this one is going to
- 6:17Speaker 3: last until at least 9 a.m.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Today.
- 6:21Speaker 3: It is mainly along the front range. And when I
- 6:24Speaker 3: left my house today, I was like, oh, my gosh,
- 6:26Speaker 3: I am in a scary movie. There's a serial killer
- 6:29Speaker 3: down the street. I don't know what's going on. It
- 6:31Speaker 3: was giving scary movie vibes. So very, very foggy out there.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Be careful driving. When I was driving, I couldn't see
- 6:38Speaker 3: anything in front of me.
- 6:39Speaker 1: That's the scariest part for sure. But I think it's fitting.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I mean, look, a couple of days before Halloween and
- 6:44Speaker 1: we get a massive fog. I mean, that's kind of cool.
- 6:46Speaker 2: I mean, 100%.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Just to be careful on the roads, it is going
- 6:50Speaker 3: to be happening until 9 today, so it may cause
- 6:53Speaker 3: some traffic delays.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Give yourself extra time. Be careful.
- 6:56Speaker 3: And also, if you're headed to the airport, DIA is
- 6:59Speaker 3: very prone to fog, and because this fog is already here,
- 7:02Speaker 3: it may slow down flight operations at DIA today.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't need to be looking out for Ghostface
- 7:08Speaker 1: or anything like that. Just look out for the car
- 7:09Speaker 1: in front of you. Yes, exactly, exactly. Well, I have
- 7:12Speaker 1: some good news that it's funny how we finally found
- 7:16Speaker 1: out that birdwatching is actually good for you. I feel
- 7:19Speaker 1: like it's such an old person thing to do.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:22Speaker 1: But new research suggests that birdwatching reshapes the brain and
- 7:26Speaker 1: slows age-related cognitive decline. There's Baycrest Academy for Research and
- 7:31Speaker 1: Education compared MRI scans of expert and novice birders. I
- 7:35Speaker 1: didn't know there was a bird name for birdwatching. Birders?
- 7:39Speaker 1: If you watch birds, like, religiously, you're called a birder,
- 7:42Speaker 1: by the way. Go out and call someone a birder.
- 7:44Speaker 1: See how they react. Well, expert brain people are expert
- 7:47Speaker 1: brain experts. Let's try this again. Expert brains showed greater
- 7:51Speaker 1: activity and organized in regions controlling attention and visual perception. Wing,
- 7:58Speaker 1: who is the founder of this entire thing, says that
- 8:00Speaker 1: acquiring this skill early on produces benefits that continue through
- 8:03Speaker 1: older adults. You can separate research finding psychological benefits for
- 8:08Speaker 1: even just the casual bird watcher, Nina, or the birder.
- 8:11Speaker 1: A study for nursing homes also found that they saw
- 8:14Speaker 1: cognitive well-being and improvements after just three or four weeks
- 8:16Speaker 1: of bird watching. So, Get out there, sip your coffee
- 8:19Speaker 1: on your front porch, and watch some dang birds if
- 8:22Speaker 1: you want to have sharp cognition well into your 80s
- 8:25Speaker 1: and 90s.
- 8:25Speaker 3: It kind of makes sense because you're using your eyesight,
- 8:28Speaker 3: your brain, you're watching out for those movements and stuff.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Yeah, you're actively doing something.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Yeah, you have to remember which birds you're looking out for,
- 8:35Speaker 3: what features they have, etc.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I saw a blue-footed wobbler the other day, and let
- 8:39Speaker 1: me tell you. Beautiful bird. Beautiful bird.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Good poll.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Love that. Thank you.
- 8:44Speaker 3: And over at MSU Denver, they have one student who
- 8:47Speaker 3: is helping them build a new building on campus. The
- 8:51Speaker 3: project superintendent, Garrett Vidal, is working with the site's only intern.
- 8:56Speaker 2: His name is River Jackson.
- 8:58Speaker 3: He's a construction project management senior at MSU Denver, and
- 9:02Speaker 3: they're letting him in on the building plans for this
- 9:05Speaker 3: new nursing and hospitality building that's coming up. It's currently
- 9:08Speaker 3: under construction and he is getting real life experience while
- 9:11Speaker 3: still going to school. He's loving it. He's all about
- 9:14Speaker 3: this project. It's right there on campus, so it's easy
- 9:17Speaker 3: for him. But I have a couple of questions about this.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Why is there only one intern, one student working on this?
- 9:24Speaker 3: I feel like more could benefit from this. Because a
- 9:27Speaker 3: project like this doesn't always come around.
- 9:30Speaker 1: No, not at all.
- 9:30Speaker 3: But also, I want to know, is River, this intern student,
- 9:35Speaker 3: getting a discount on his college tuition?
- 9:37Speaker 2: Because he is building the school.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Literally building it from the ground up. Yeah, those are
- 9:43Speaker 1: good questions. I don't know why. Maybe... They are like,
- 9:46Speaker 1: you know, paying an actual company. So they're like, hey,
- 9:48Speaker 1: we're not going to bring on too many students because
- 9:50Speaker 1: then it could be like too many cooks in the
- 9:51Speaker 1: kitchen thing.
- 9:52Speaker 2: But you're right.
- 9:53Speaker 1: That is a really, really good learning moment for the
- 9:56Speaker 1: students here. And I'm wondering why they can't let more
- 9:58Speaker 1: students on. Maybe they're letting more students on. students on
- 10:00Speaker 1: to like watch, but like they're actually letting River kind
- 10:04Speaker 1: of Build this a little bit.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Have the actual experience.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Have the blueprints.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:08Speaker 2: I mean, he is a senior, so he's a little
- 10:09Speaker 2: bit further in his education.
- 10:11Speaker 3: And it's for construction project management, which is exactly this,
- 10:15Speaker 3: kind of overseeing all the plans.
- 10:18Speaker 1: He might be the only senior that is a construction
- 10:20Speaker 1: management major, too.
- 10:21Speaker 2: It's true. That's true, too. But good for River. That
- 10:24Speaker 2: is really awesome.
- 10:25Speaker 3: I do hope that they get him a little something
- 10:28Speaker 3: off his college tuition.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Like a free lunch or something.
- 10:30Speaker 2: At least a free lunch.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Come on.
- 10:33Speaker 2: So this is a little shocking.
- 10:35Speaker 3: And I don't know how Taylor Swift is feeling this morning,
- 10:38Speaker 3: but I know the Swifties are happy about it. Her
- 10:41Speaker 3: wedding decor was leaked. There are photos from inside her wedding.
- 10:47Speaker 1: How did I miss that?
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 10:50Speaker 3: So the Daily Mail had these photos and of course
- 10:53Speaker 3: they put them out with their logo everywhere and it
- 10:56Speaker 3: looks like It's the wedding scene inside of Madison Square
- 10:59Speaker 3: Garden all set up. So Taylor built this beautiful fairy
- 11:04Speaker 3: woodland scene, lots of trees, lots of greenery, white, beautiful columns,
- 11:10Speaker 3: the aisle. It was lined with more plants, which I
- 11:13Speaker 3: think is really, really cute. Then that seating.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Area was huge. A thousand people were invited to this wedding. So,
- 11:21Speaker 2: I mean, had to be big viewing area.
- 11:23Speaker 3: But yeah, all these like rows that were kind of
- 11:26Speaker 3: arched inward so that everyone could have a good view
- 11:30Speaker 3: of the ceremony and everything like that. And yeah, so
- 11:32Speaker 3: her wedding decor, someone was high up on the rafters,
- 11:36Speaker 3: it looks like, at Madison Square Garden and took these
- 11:39Speaker 3: photos from above, from far away.
- 11:41Speaker 2: It was before the ceremony.
- 11:42Speaker 3: It wasn't during or anything like that because I'm sure
- 11:45Speaker 3: at that point everything was locked down. Maybe this was
- 11:48Speaker 3: like the morning of the wedding, the day before the
- 11:50Speaker 3: wedding when they were setting everything up. But as beautiful
- 11:54Speaker 3: as it is, these are leaked photos. And I guarantee you,
- 11:59Speaker 3: Taylor is pissed.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, she's for some reason really kept this super,
- 12:05Speaker 1: super tight lipped. So for that being leaked, I mean,
- 12:08Speaker 1: she knows she invited all the people that were there.
- 12:11Speaker 1: This ain't no paparazzi, this anything like that. Right. Someone
- 12:14Speaker 1: took their phone in, someone had a couple of pictures,
- 12:16Speaker 1: and someone was like, you know what? You can buy
- 12:18Speaker 1: these pictures off me. Right?
- 12:20Speaker 3: It kind of seems like someone who was on the
- 12:22Speaker 3: staff at Madison Square Garden.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, what a jerk move.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I know the staff vetting process. I read an article
- 12:30Speaker 2: about that over the summer.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I'm sure it was extensive, right?
- 12:32Speaker 2: Of course it was. It was like you.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Only if you had worked at the stadium for like
- 12:36Speaker 3: 10 years minimum could you even work her wedding. There
- 12:40Speaker 3: was all sorts of crazy stuff because they wanted to
- 12:43Speaker 3: make sure that things like this wouldn't happen and pictures
- 12:47Speaker 3: wouldn't leak. But here we are a couple months later
- 12:49Speaker 3: and yeah.
- 12:50Speaker 1: That's crazy. Imagine, I don't know, imagine if. somehow she
- 12:54Speaker 1: finds out which staffer leaked that. That staffer's like, hey, sorry.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 12:58Speaker 1: But I mean, it's over. You can't take back the
- 13:00Speaker 1: photos once it's on the internet. The internet is forever,
- 13:02Speaker 1: so that's crazy.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, it's out there.
- 13:03Speaker 1: All right, so I want to ask you, because I
- 13:05Speaker 1: know we talked about this earlier. Are we talking Jay-Z
- 13:08Speaker 1: right now? Are you OK with that? Yeah, absolutely. I
- 13:12Speaker 1: like it. I actually like the choice. I'm not going
- 13:14Speaker 1: to lie.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I'm excited for it.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Jay-Z has officially been named to the Super Bowl halftime show, OK?
- 13:20Speaker 1: I like it. It's odd how it went about because
- 13:22Speaker 1: I know he's been at the head of choosing the
- 13:24Speaker 1: artist for years now because it's with his whole group, right?
- 13:28Speaker 1: Rock Nation. Rock Nation and him are collectively, they choose
- 13:32Speaker 1: who is the next person to be at the Super
- 13:35Speaker 1: Bowl halftime show. Now, that being said, choosing yourself is
- 13:39Speaker 1: a look. I think that's kind of funny. But he's
- 13:41Speaker 1: never done it before. He's never been at the Super
- 13:43Speaker 1: Bowl halftime show as a performer. And honestly, I'm kind
- 13:47Speaker 1: of here for it. I like his music. I cannot
- 13:50Speaker 1: wait to see who's gonna be featured on this. Is
- 13:53Speaker 1: it just gonna be him or is he gonna bring
- 13:54Speaker 1: out A host of other people. I mean, Roc Nation
- 13:57Speaker 1: has so many people.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the thing. And he has so many collabs
- 14:02Speaker 2: with other artists.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Like, imagine if all of a sudden Alicia Keys comes
- 14:06Speaker 3: out on the piano for Empire State of Mind. Like, yes,
- 14:09Speaker 3: sign me up for that. I want to see that. Obviously,
- 14:12Speaker 3: Beyonce needs to make a cameo.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I mean, that's kind of a given. I think she will.
- 14:16Speaker 1: But I think of other people like he and Eminem
- 14:18Speaker 1: have an extensive history. Yeah. bringing Eminem out at the
- 14:21Speaker 1: Super Bowl halftime show would be absurd I know he
- 14:23Speaker 1: was on a couple years ago with Snoop Dogg and
- 14:26Speaker 1: others but like Eminem for me is just such an
- 14:29Speaker 1: iconic iconic rapper he's so good he's I mean everybody
- 14:33Speaker 1: kind of collectively says he's the greatest rapper alive for
- 14:35Speaker 1: sure and so to bring him on too I mean
- 14:36Speaker 1: like I'm excited to see who Jay-Z brings out with him.
- 14:40Speaker 1: On top of that, Jay-Z has really good music, too.
- 14:42Speaker 2: He does. He has so many hits.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Yeah, Empire, State of Mind, Dirt Off Your Shoulder, Bonnie
- 14:48Speaker 3: and Clyde, Big Pimpin', 99 Problems, Hard Knock Life.
- 14:51Speaker 2: There's so, so many. And so, like you said, this
- 14:55Speaker 2: is exciting.
- 14:56Speaker 3: And I know a lot of people are going to
- 14:57Speaker 3: kind of poo-poo on the idea of him doing the Super.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Bowl halftime show, but... He does deserve it.
- 15:03Speaker 3: His history in music, the amount of hits that he
- 15:06Speaker 3: has out there.
- 15:07Speaker 2: He's never done it before.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Well, his music footprint, first of all, is massive. I mean,
- 15:11Speaker 1: I'm even thinking about Holy Grail with Justin Timberlake. He
- 15:13Speaker 1: could bring Timberlake out. If he wanted to, he could
- 15:17Speaker 1: bring out Justin Bieber. I mean, like the dude, he
- 15:20Speaker 1: doesn't need a history of songs with the artist. He's Jay-Z.
- 15:23Speaker 1: If he calls you up, you're going to go out
- 15:24Speaker 1: there and perform with him, right? 100%.
- 15:27Speaker 2: But I also wonder this, too.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I have not seen anything. Does this mean, because I
- 15:30Speaker 1: know most of the time when an artist does this,
- 15:33Speaker 1: they're going to have a huge tour afterwards and they're
- 15:35Speaker 1: going to go out.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Well, he's touring right now.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I know he is. That's why I'm saying, like, is
- 15:38Speaker 1: he going to announce another massive one, a new album?
- 15:41Speaker 1: That's why I'm like, he's touring already. Right.
- 15:43Speaker 2: He's touring already.
- 15:44Speaker 3: I mean, it's possible that it's just going to kind
- 15:47Speaker 3: of amplify all of that right now. It's possible he
- 15:50Speaker 3: may be working on new music, be coming out with something.
- 15:52Speaker 3: There's been rumors he and Beyonce are working on a
- 15:54Speaker 3: collab right now.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Oh, that's cute. Isn't that cute? Yes.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Which they've done before and they've toured before. And that
- 16:01Speaker 3: would be great. You know, I want Beyonce to do
- 16:04Speaker 3: her own solo tour again for the part three of
- 16:07Speaker 3: her whole thing. But she and Jay-Z have toured before.
- 16:11Speaker 3: As well on the run and on the run to tour.
- 16:13Speaker 3: So we'll see if there's another one.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Even they could even bring out his daughter like she's
- 16:18Speaker 1: had such a massive footprint now, too, because of Beyonce
- 16:20Speaker 1: and everything that she's done there.
- 16:21Speaker 3: So she's been performing with him. She just did over
- 16:24Speaker 3: the weekend in L.A.
- 16:25Speaker 1: That'd be so I just love the ability of him
- 16:28Speaker 1: to do literally whatever he wants. for this thing, I
- 16:30Speaker 1: think it's going to be huge. And I like that.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it will be. It will be.
- 16:33Speaker 3: So hopefully people get on board with Jay-Z. This is
- 16:36Speaker 3: just what it is. I think it's a good choice.
- 16:38Speaker 2: He is going to be performing.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Yeah. I really do. I know he chose himself. That's
- 16:40Speaker 1: the weird part.
- 16:41Speaker 2: That's the weird part.
- 16:42Speaker 1: But it's a good choice.
- 16:43Speaker 3: But what are you going to do? He's the head
- 16:46Speaker 3: of the whole thing. So it is what it is.
- 16:48Speaker 3: At least he waited a couple of years.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I know. He didn't choose himself right off the bat.
- 16:52Speaker 1: He's a humble king. We like that. Yeah. No, I
- 16:55Speaker 1: like the choice whether he chose himself or not. I
- 16:57Speaker 1: think it's going to be good. I think the show
- 16:58Speaker 1: is going to be amazing.
- 16:59Speaker 2: I agree.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Here's what you need to know before you go into
- 17:02Speaker 3: the office today. Apple is under fire because their new
- 17:05Speaker 3: iPhone Duo that's costing people $ 2, 000.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:09Speaker 3: While it's out, people have it in their hands already
- 17:12Speaker 3: and users are saying they have cracked screens like the
- 17:16Speaker 3: first day opening it. So they're saying this has happened
- 17:19Speaker 3: within hours of opening up the phone. They're playing with it,
- 17:24Speaker 3: setting it up, everything like that. You open it, you
- 17:26Speaker 3: close it. Next thing you know, there's a big crack
- 17:29Speaker 3: in the middle of the screen. So Apple is responding.
- 17:32Speaker 3: They're letting people know that, listen, it's only a small
- 17:35Speaker 3: amount of users. It's not everyone. It's not every unit.
- 17:39Speaker 3: But if you are having this issue, they are going
- 17:41Speaker 3: to replace them. at Apple stores right now, but they
- 17:45Speaker 3: don't really know why it's happening to some phones and
- 17:47Speaker 3: not the other.
- 17:48Speaker 1: They're just saying, close it softer. Stop.
- 17:51Speaker 2: It's like, no, it's not what I bought this phone for.
- 17:54Speaker 1: No, jeez.
- 17:55Speaker 3: But yeah, this phone, it completely sold out. There's even
- 17:57Speaker 3: a wait list. People aren't getting theirs until after the
- 18:00Speaker 3: new year, but that might even be more delayed since
- 18:02Speaker 3: people are needing to get replacements now.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I don't know. You have a perfectly good iPhone. Why
- 18:06Speaker 1: does it have to fold? I'm just wondering. Yeah.
- 18:08Speaker 2: It's a bigger screen. I don't know. It's giving iPad mini.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Get an iPad.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Like if you ever want a bigger screen, get an iPad.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I don't know. If you want a folding phone, get
- 18:16Speaker 1: a Razr. All right. Nina, I have a question for you.
- 18:19Speaker 1: What's up? When you put on that happy little face
- 18:22Speaker 1: at work and you're smiling and so excited, are you
- 18:24Speaker 1: faking it?
- 18:25Speaker 2: 90% of the time.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Oh, wow. 90% of the time. Well, that actually adds up,
- 18:30Speaker 1: because 88% of the time, people put on a happy
- 18:33Speaker 1: face at work. That is so funny that you said
- 18:34Speaker 1: 90% of the time. A global survey of thousands of
- 18:39Speaker 1: workers found out that about 88% of people put on
- 18:43Speaker 1: a everything's great face for work, especially for a specific
- 18:47Speaker 1: someone at work. In a week before the survey, 86%
- 18:53Speaker 1: acted more enthusiastic than they actually cared. About their job,
- 18:56Speaker 1: notably 80% of those employees who rated their job as
- 18:59Speaker 1: a perfect 5 out of 5 still faked their enthusiasm. Wow.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Which is wild to me.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Some days you have to, it's like fake it till
- 19:07Speaker 3: you make it, okay? Just to get me through the day.
- 19:10Speaker 3: I don't want a million people asking me, are you okay?
- 19:13Speaker 2: Is everything alright? That's right.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Because half the time that makes it worse if you
- 19:16Speaker 3: are going through something.
- 19:17Speaker 1: True.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Just put on a smile, do your work, and go home.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I agree with that. Out of this story, I do
- 19:22Speaker 1: like this. People who outright hated their job, that was
- 19:25Speaker 1: only around 20%. So it wasn't crazy. I like that.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I think we love our job. I think we have
- 19:30Speaker 1: a lot of fun here.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Oh, of course we do.
- 19:32Speaker 1: I feel like most of the time I don't have
- 19:34Speaker 1: to fake my enthusiasm or excitement for this job. But yeah,
- 19:38Speaker 1: I definitely understand. A lot of people with what they
- 19:40Speaker 1: have to do, I can see why they just throw
- 19:41Speaker 1: on that smile and go, hey. Everything's great.
- 19:43Speaker 2: I totally get it.
- 19:45Speaker 3: And the last thing you need to know, e-bike riders
- 19:48Speaker 3: are under fire right now in Denver. for reckless driving.
- 19:52Speaker 3: So there's this group of kids. They're on e-bikes, and
- 19:55Speaker 3: they take over streets. Specifically, they have been seen on
- 19:57Speaker 3: South Broadway because there's so many of them. They're popping wheelies.
- 20:02Speaker 3: They're doing all sorts of stuff. But they are taking
- 20:04Speaker 3: over these lanes. And other drivers on the road need
- 20:07Speaker 3: to be careful. They're cutting off traffic. They're going faster
- 20:11Speaker 3: than the cars are. And eyewitnesses are reporting this. And
- 20:14Speaker 3: they're more concerned than mad because these are kid kids,
- 20:19Speaker 3: like 13, 14 year old kids.
- 20:21Speaker 2: No helmets. They're going fast. They're on the streets. Like,
- 20:24Speaker 2: it is dangerous.
- 20:27Speaker 1: It's horrendous. I think these kids think that they've been
- 20:29Speaker 1: playing so many video games, they think that if they
- 20:31Speaker 1: get in these accidents or whatever, they just go to, like,
- 20:33Speaker 1: back to the lobby.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Right.
- 20:34Speaker 1: This is really dangerous. You can lose your life doing
- 20:37Speaker 1: these things.
- 20:38Speaker 2: A hundred percent.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Especially if you're going with no helmet. What are you doing?
- 20:41Speaker 3: Doing yeah so brain damage is real yes for sure
- 20:45Speaker 3: it is so parents watch your kids especially if they
- 20:47Speaker 3: have their own e-bike if not then you know they
- 20:49Speaker 3: could be renting these e-bikes just You know, keep track
- 20:53Speaker 3: of them, watch.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Them, have a talk with them.
- 20:55Speaker 1: It's like a catch-22. I love that kids are not
- 20:58Speaker 1: on their iPads and that they're out and playing again.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I mean, I rode my manual bike, if you will.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I had to pedal back in the day. But I
- 21:05Speaker 1: rode bikes all the time. So I love that kids
- 21:07Speaker 1: are out there having fun, doing fun things. I would
- 21:09Speaker 1: go to Denver with my friends. I remember it. Just
- 21:12Speaker 1: don't be an idiot. Like, don't be stupid. Be safe
- 21:15Speaker 1: if you want those bikes. Those bikes look really fun.
- 21:17Speaker 1: They look super fun.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Just be smart about it. Yeah, just be careful, okay?
- 21:21Speaker 2: That's all we're saying.
- 21:22Speaker 3: So three things you need to know before you go
- 21:24Speaker 3: into the office today. All of this fog that has
- 21:27Speaker 3: been here all morning. We have been under this dense
- 21:30Speaker 3: fog advisory all morning long.
- 21:33Speaker 2: They said until 9 a.m., and a.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Little while ago we talked about the fog, and I
- 21:36Speaker 3: was like, I don't know if it's lifting by 9,
- 21:39Speaker 3: but here we are at 847. And it is starting
- 21:43Speaker 3: to lift. I don't know how they do it, but
- 21:45Speaker 3: they predicted that nearly right on the nose. We'll see
- 21:48Speaker 3: if it clears out at nine, but it is starting
- 21:51Speaker 3: to clear.
- 21:51Speaker 2: But it's caused all sorts of chaos all.
- 21:54Speaker 3: In Denver, all morning long, including grounding planes at DIA.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Dang.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Yeah, we got confirmation of that in our text line
- 22:03Speaker 3: from someone who's working at the airport.
- 22:05Speaker 2: And so, yeah, this fog is.
- 22:07Speaker 3: It's been a lot today, but it's kind of giving
- 22:10Speaker 3: scary movie vibes, and I like it.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm here for it. I mean, why not? I
- 22:13Speaker 1: already hate it. And it's honestly kind of cool to
- 22:15Speaker 1: watch it slowly lift. You're slowly starting to be able
- 22:18Speaker 1: to see the city. I know.
- 22:20Speaker 2: It's alive again.
- 22:21Speaker 3: We have this live webcam that we watch overlooking the
- 22:24Speaker 3: city of Denver, and I can see trees and the
- 22:26Speaker 3: road now, because all morning long it has been a
- 22:29Speaker 3: gray screen.
- 22:30Speaker 1: And yes, we are that boring that we like to
- 22:32Speaker 1: watch live roadcams. Yes. You can't give our morning secrets away, Nina. No. Oh, sorry.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Sorry. My bad.
- 22:38Speaker 1: We have live road cams in our office.
- 22:42Speaker 2: We don't have windows.
- 22:43Speaker 1: No, we don't. I want to see outside. I need
- 22:44Speaker 1: to see what's happening. You're right. We want a taste
- 22:46Speaker 1: of outside. Our window looks directly into other offices.
- 22:50Speaker 2: So I need my webcam. You leave me alone.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I'm not judging. I'm not judging. We're just weird. It's
- 22:56Speaker 1: all right. All right. So Airbnb is doing something crazy
- 23:00Speaker 1: with their new rules. They are overhauling its house rules policy.
- 23:04Speaker 1: And it is stripping hosts of the ability to find
- 23:07Speaker 1: guests who ignore the chore requests. I'm going to be honest. Nina,
- 23:11Speaker 1: I'm a good tenant. I like staying at Airbnbs. I've
- 23:15Speaker 1: done it before. I do not destroy the place ever.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I like that they are doing this. I like that
- 23:21Speaker 1: you can't fine anybody for not doing this. the house
- 23:24Speaker 1: chores list anymore. I think that's ridiculous. If I accidentally don't,
- 23:29Speaker 1: you know, take out every single trash bin out there
- 23:32Speaker 1: or accidentally don't replace the shampoo or whatever, I think
- 23:36Speaker 1: that is absurd that they can charge you for that.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Well, it is because not only can they try to
- 23:41Speaker 3: charge you for not doing the list of chores they
- 23:43Speaker 3: want you to do, but they also charge you.
- 23:45Speaker 2: A cleaning fee on top of it. And it's like,
- 23:47Speaker 2: why am I cleaning for you and you're charging me
- 23:49Speaker 2: for it?
- 23:50Speaker 1: On top of that. Charge the cleaning fee. I get it.
- 23:51Speaker 1: You don't do a deep clean afterwards, but I'm not
- 23:53Speaker 1: your maid. I'm not doing that. You are very gracious
- 23:55Speaker 1: in allowing us to stay at your place, but I
- 23:58Speaker 1: like what they're doing. So requests for violating the policy
- 24:01Speaker 1: will be flagged, so you can get flagged and be like, hey,
- 24:03Speaker 1: this was a bad house guest, if you destroy it.
- 24:06Speaker 1: But that being said, you're not gonna get a $ 200,
- 24:08Speaker 1: $ 300 charge anymore for not leaving the house perfectly spotless.
- 24:13Speaker 1: And I'm here for that. I think it's just ridiculous,
- 24:15Speaker 1: and I think you can get a little power hungry
- 24:17Speaker 1: as the homeowner charging for the most nitpicky things out there.
- 24:22Speaker 1: And Airbnb is fixing this. I think that's going to
- 24:24Speaker 1: help their business a lot.
- 24:25Speaker 2: I agree.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Last year, it was last December, I went on a
- 24:30Speaker 3: family vacation and I got into a fight with my
- 24:33Speaker 3: mom about cleaning up the Airbnb before we left.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Oh, that's funny.
- 24:38Speaker 3: So thank goodness they're taking away this rule because it's going.
- 24:42Speaker 2: To save family arguments.
- 24:43Speaker 1: It's just ridiculous. Yeah. Nina and her mom, we want
- 24:45Speaker 1: them to have a good relationship. Okay.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Thanks, Airbnb.
- 24:49Speaker 3: And these Starbucks Bearista cups are coming back this year.
- 24:54Speaker 3: They sold last year for about $ 30, and people went
- 24:57Speaker 3: insane for them.
- 24:58Speaker 2: There were fights breaking out.
- 25:00Speaker 3: In Starbucks stores across the country for them. But these
- 25:04Speaker 3: are cute, bear-shaped glass cups for your cold brew. and
- 25:09Speaker 3: they have this green little holiday beanie on them, at
- 25:11Speaker 3: least last year's version did, and they totally sold out.
- 25:15Speaker 3: In fact, they had to make a second opportunity for
- 25:18Speaker 3: you to buy them because these were a hot commodity.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Do you remember why?
- 25:22Speaker 3: What?
- 25:22Speaker 1: Why? Nina, it's because last year the Starbucks that had them,
- 25:25Speaker 1: they were delivered, like, five. Oh. Like, each Starbucks had, like,
- 25:28Speaker 1: five or ten.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not enough.
- 25:30Speaker 1: It was not a massive overhaul or anything like that.
- 25:32Speaker 1: That's not enough. And so, like, people would go, and
- 25:34Speaker 1: they're like, y'all sold out in the first ten customers? Like,
- 25:36Speaker 1: what's going on?
- 25:37Speaker 3: So, Starbucks, hopefully they are learning from that experience. They're
- 25:41Speaker 3: going to stock them a little bit better this year.
- 25:43Speaker 3: But the Bearista cups are coming back this year, but
- 25:46Speaker 3: with a twist.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Oh.
- 25:47Speaker 3: Starbucks is putting them in mystery boxes with a different
- 25:52Speaker 3: variation in each box, which I kind of really love
- 25:57Speaker 3: that idea because the mystery boxes right now are all
- 26:01Speaker 3: over the place.
- 26:01Speaker 2: They're so big.
- 26:02Speaker 3: I am constantly watching videos of opening up mystery boxes.
- 26:06Speaker 3: And the fact that Starbucks is getting on that trend
- 26:09Speaker 3: and making these mystery box barista cups is I like it.
- 26:13Speaker 1: They should not show you which ones you can get, though,
- 26:16Speaker 1: because then I have an idea in my head of
- 26:17Speaker 1: the one I want, and then I'm always disappointed. Every
- 26:21Speaker 1: single time. And it breaks my heart. Just let us
- 26:23Speaker 1: be surprised. I like that.
- 26:25Speaker 2: If you say so.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Do you like the knowing which ones you can get?
- 26:28Speaker 2: Well, I like seeing the options.
- 26:30Speaker 1: You don't know the option of what you're getting.
- 26:32Speaker 3: But they usually show you the option on the box
- 26:35Speaker 3: of here's five different variations of what you could get.
- 26:39Speaker 3: And then you open the box and then you find out.
- 26:41Speaker 1: You'll always have a favorite.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Well, yeah.
- 26:43Speaker 3: But if you make something up in your mind that
- 26:45Speaker 3: doesn't actually exist, then you're always going to be disappointed.
- 26:49Speaker 2: That's how that works.
- 26:50Speaker 1: All right.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Duh.
- 26:52Speaker 1: This is stupid. Don't give us mystery boxes.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Anyway, they are coming out in Starbucks November 19th in
- 26:59Speaker 3: very limited quantities.
- 27:00Speaker 2: So get in line early. We'll see if we can
- 27:03Speaker 2: snag one, Josh.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll try. Fight the lines for sure.
- 27:05Speaker 2: We'll try.
